- 0:05Speaker 1: Today it's Gabe and Angie. And it's really no secret
- 0:08Speaker 1: that tons of songs are written by other people and
- 0:11Speaker 1: sang by people who make them famous.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Right.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I was curious if some of these songs, if you
- 0:16Speaker 1: knew who either a they were written by, or did
- 0:18Speaker 1: you even know they were written.
- 0:20Speaker 3: By someone else?
- 0:21Speaker 4: Okay? All right?
- 0:22Speaker 3: Like, for example, this song right here forget you see
- 0:33Speaker 3: Low Green forgets you what a.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Bop that was when it came out.
- 0:37Speaker 2: You always knew when a song was super huge when
- 0:40Speaker 2: Glee would sing it exactly.
- 0:42Speaker 1: That song was actually written by Bruno Mars. Stop, I've
- 0:47Speaker 1: heeded that song instead of se Low. I don't know
- 0:49Speaker 1: how much it would be different because it was so massive.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I think I might like it better because I'm obsessed
- 0:53Speaker 2: with Bruno Mars, But wow, that's talent.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Okay, all right, here's another one. What about this song.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Lifting in the Closet?
- 1:07Speaker 1: Obviously that's Beyonce with Irreplaceable there she did not you
- 1:11Speaker 1: actually know who wrote it?
- 1:13Speaker 3: I think, Oh that's right, I.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Think you know, yes, I always forget Neo wrote this.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Neo wrote Beyonce's massive hit irreplaceable. I have just two
- 1:22Speaker 1: more for you here? What about this song, Angie? This
- 1:25Speaker 1: song was all over the radio at one point.
- 1:29Speaker 4: I don't know, come.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Lewis bleeding Love here might be a name you haven't
- 1:45Speaker 1: heard in a hot minute here that song was actually
- 1:48Speaker 1: written by Jesse McCartney and One Republic singer Ryan Teddor.
- 1:53Speaker 3: When's the last time you heard those two names?
- 1:56Speaker 5: Wait?
- 1:56Speaker 4: But what a combo?
- 1:57Speaker 1: Oh they're collecting a paycheck every day from the Oh yeah,
- 2:00Speaker 1: residuals all day.
- 2:02Speaker 3: That's got to be the best. If you can write
- 2:04Speaker 3: one big, massive hit.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Yeah, that's kind you know what, because something you Bleeding.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Love is not one of those songs that neither of
- 2:12Speaker 2: those guys could have done it. That couldn't have been
- 2:14Speaker 2: a One Republic song.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Come on, yeh, all right, my last one for you here?
- 2:17Speaker 1: You obviously know this song. We play this song here
- 2:20Speaker 1: in Big ninety eight point seven. My mom my dough
- 2:22Speaker 1: I you, and she likes everyone and I never liked
- 2:28Speaker 1: obviously Justin Bieber and love yourself.
- 2:30Speaker 2: That's so real, by the way, I think that resonated
- 2:33Speaker 2: with everyone. But my mama don't like you and she
- 2:36Speaker 2: likes everyone.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Right, Well, that song was actually written and it kind
- 2:41Speaker 1: of produced by Ed Sheeran and Benny Blanco. Star that
- 2:46Speaker 1: album from Bieber was huge, huge us.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Wait, was it this song about Selena Gomez?
- 2:54Speaker 2: No?
- 2:54Speaker 1: Really no, Ed Sheeron and Benny Blanco just wrote it
- 2:57Speaker 1: after a concert on a tour bus one day.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Also just had no input.
- 3:01Speaker 2: But when that song came out, they were in one
- 3:04Speaker 2: of their off again, off again situations, and so everybody assumed,
- 3:08Speaker 2: like this song is about Selena. Fast forward, Benny Blanco
- 3:11Speaker 2: and Selena are engaged. Oh I love this, Thank you for.
- 3:14Speaker 4: This juicy te.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Today's Riiety Big ninety eight point seven.
- 3:19Speaker 1: It's Gabe and Angie Sonny today with a high of
- 3:21Speaker 1: fifty four.
- 3:24Speaker 3: We start every show off.
- 3:26Speaker 1: On a positive note, a reason to get a smiling
- 3:28Speaker 1: in the morning, and just kind of sets a tone
- 3:30Speaker 1: for the day. Here.
- 3:31Speaker 3: We like to share little victories.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Yes, if you have a little victory you want to
- 3:36Speaker 2: share with us, call us or text us seven oh
- 3:38Speaker 2: one two eight oh one to ninety eight seven. I
- 3:41Speaker 2: have a little victory, Gabe that involves my hair.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Have you noticed it is down today?
- 3:49Speaker 1: Okay, yes, I have noticed so far. I'm on the
- 3:53Speaker 1: path with you here.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Okay, well, I need you to know that my hair
- 3:57Speaker 2: is so wildly dirty and at this point this is
- 4:00Speaker 2: day five.
- 4:02Speaker 4: This is day five.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Since I've washed my hair, and by day five I
- 4:07Speaker 2: usually have to throw it up in a bun because
- 4:09Speaker 2: it's an oily disaster. Okay, I found the perfect dry shampoo. Wow,
- 4:16Speaker 2: now I've got all the dry shampoo and my hair
- 4:18Speaker 2: looks pretty good.
- 4:20Speaker 3: All right, we'll take that. Why now? Yeah?
- 4:22Speaker 1: See I actually I would like to think when you
- 4:25Speaker 1: do something different, I try to make a point to
- 4:28Speaker 1: notice and recognize. And so when you said my hair
- 4:30Speaker 1: is down today, I'm like, all right, I'm one of one.
- 4:32Speaker 3: What is coming that I haven't noticed?
- 4:34Speaker 4: It's because I.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Wear my hair down a lot, but you didn't realize
- 4:37Speaker 2: that it's been so many days in a row.
- 4:40Speaker 4: And that's because usually I would have had to wash
- 4:41Speaker 4: my hair by now.
- 4:42Speaker 2: But no, hey, right on, it's dirty, but thanks to
- 4:44Speaker 2: my new dry shampoo. It's the little things in life, Gabe,
- 4:48Speaker 2: That's why it's a little Are you gonna share what's
- 4:50Speaker 2: the dry shampoo to your Living Proof? Living Proof is okay.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Hey, if you're looking for some dry shampoo, that might
- 4:56Speaker 1: be the one for you here you go. My little
- 4:58Speaker 1: victory is whilst it was raining and storming and just
- 5:01Speaker 1: kind of gross outside yesterday, my wife, our cats, and
- 5:04Speaker 1: our dog all sat and laid in bed beginning at
- 5:08Speaker 1: six pm after dinner and watched like six episodes of
- 5:12Speaker 1: You Oh My Gosh for a Netflix lounge and binge
- 5:17Speaker 1: session at the glitten House yesterday, and it was great.
- 5:20Speaker 3: We're almost done.
- 5:21Speaker 1: We got to episode I think we're on episode eight.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Oh nice.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I think we finished well, maybe at seven. Either way,
- 5:28Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. We got close towards the end. It
- 5:31Speaker 1: was just laid in bed and watched Netflix and did
- 5:35Speaker 1: absolutely zero. It was the greatest lazy Monday, probably in
- 5:39Speaker 1: the history of Mondays.
- 5:40Speaker 4: That's perfect.
- 5:41Speaker 2: It was great for the stormy weather, that's right. There
- 5:47Speaker 2: was this woman in Virginia and her story went viral
- 5:50Speaker 2: because a snake landed in her margarita at a restaurant.
- 5:54Speaker 4: This is why I was shocked.
- 5:55Speaker 5: I leaned in to take a sip and I noticed
- 5:58Speaker 5: that something hit me on the flour and I looked
- 6:01Speaker 5: at my husband, like, what was that? And when I
- 6:03Speaker 5: turned around, I saw the snake in my margarita, and
- 6:07Speaker 5: I just jumped away from the bar. At that point
- 6:09Speaker 5: it was moving and it started wrapping around my straw.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Now it's not I will say, it's not always the
- 6:14Speaker 1: restaurant's fault, you know.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Oh yeah, No, I don't think it was the restaurant's spot.
- 6:18Speaker 3: How could they know, right, you know what I mean?
- 6:20Speaker 1: But also, if I am terrified of snakes, if there's
- 6:24Speaker 1: if I ever find a snake in a margarita, I'm
- 6:26Speaker 1: probably just like never leaving my house again.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that's right. I forgot that you are
- 6:31Speaker 2: scared of snake. This is like your worst nightmare. Also,
- 6:34Speaker 2: not only was it in her margarita, the snake assaulted her,
- 6:36Speaker 2: first hit her right in the forehead and then got
- 6:39Speaker 2: into her margarita.
- 6:40Speaker 3: But I would probably instantly cry.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I kind of would love to see that game because
- 6:46Speaker 2: I'm a crier and I would love to see you cry.
- 6:48Speaker 3: And I'm not a crier, which is kind of funny. Yeah.
- 6:51Speaker 2: I asked on the Big ninety eight point seven Facebook page,
- 6:55Speaker 2: what is something that you found in your drink or
- 6:57Speaker 2: your food that you shouldn't have and we got a
- 7:00Speaker 2: lot of responses. I one time found a cockroach in
- 7:03Speaker 2: my corn pops. Really, yes, So I could never eat
- 7:06Speaker 2: that cereal ever. Yeah, Now that wasn't at a restaurant,
- 7:09Speaker 2: that was at my house, and so that was more
- 7:11Speaker 2: of a me problem than anything. Yeah, but I never, no, never,
- 7:17Speaker 2: But we got some good ones. Obviously, we're not going
- 7:19Speaker 2: to say the names of the restaurants. We're not trying
- 7:21Speaker 2: to put any restaurants on blast.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Things do happen. It's not a fault exactly. It can
- 7:28Speaker 1: be gross as well.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Jinna said that she found the ziplock, the zipper lock
- 7:33Speaker 2: from a ziplock bag in her food, and the paper
- 7:37Speaker 2: off the back of the meat cooked.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Into her hamburger. That stuff that's gross.
- 7:43Speaker 1: You can't even kind of sneakily chew your way through that,
- 7:46Speaker 1: you know, Like, have you ever got a Starburst that
- 7:49Speaker 1: has a tiny little piece of the rapper that just
- 7:51Speaker 1: couldn't get I'll just house that I'm gross though, I'll
- 7:54Speaker 1: eat basically anything.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Okay, So now I want to know if these would
- 7:57Speaker 2: deter you? Okay, So Lisa found a used band aid
- 8:01Speaker 2: in her sandwith.
- 8:03Speaker 3: No, Yeah, that's too far.
- 8:04Speaker 4: What about this?
- 8:05Speaker 2: Holly found a twist tie in her chimmy chonga.
- 8:10Speaker 1: That really doesn't bother me all that much, I'd just
- 8:12Speaker 1: pick it out and keep eating. Really well, you got
- 8:15Speaker 1: to think about it this way. Do you can you
- 8:17Speaker 1: imagine the amount of cat hair I probably consume on
- 8:20Speaker 1: a daily basis?
- 8:21Speaker 2: Hey, why would I'm dying?
- 8:26Speaker 4: But yeah, you have a lot.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Of cat Yeah, there's a few at the house. I
- 8:29Speaker 1: probably eat. I don't even want to guess how much
- 8:31Speaker 1: cat eat on a day to day basis.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Okay, Heather found aluminum foil in an Alfredo sauce.
- 8:38Speaker 1: No, I would actually be infuriated by that, because once
- 8:41Speaker 1: you bite into that, doesn't it hurt?
- 8:43Speaker 5: Oh?
- 8:43Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know that would Obviously you can't eat that.
- 8:46Speaker 1: That'd be tough.
- 8:47Speaker 4: Okay.
- 8:47Speaker 2: And then this final one, Mary found screws in her fries.
- 8:52Speaker 4: They had some work done on the friar hood, but
- 8:55Speaker 4: the restaurant was very awesome about it, so she was
- 8:58Speaker 4: fine with this screw Would you be fine with screws
- 9:00Speaker 4: in your fries?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Here's what I'll say, Oh gosh, here is what I'll say.
- 9:05Speaker 1: If they are old, crusty, rusty screws, out go the fries.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Okay.
- 9:10Speaker 1: But they're nice, clean, shiny, you know, metallic looking screws.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I'd consider just picking them out and probably just continuing
- 9:19Speaker 1: with my fries.
- 9:20Speaker 4: I know too much about you now, Gabe. My name
- 9:23Speaker 4: is Alan.
- 9:26Speaker 1: It was revealed Martha Stewart hadn't done this, which seems
- 9:30Speaker 1: so unbelievable to me.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Yes, Martha Stewart has never ordered him. She's never ordered
- 9:36Speaker 2: like door Dash.
- 9:37Speaker 4: She said.
- 9:37Speaker 2: She either goes out to eat or she just skips
- 9:41Speaker 2: the meal. That's like Bill Gates not knowing what a
- 9:43Speaker 2: carton of milk costs. Right, those are bougie problems that
- 9:46Speaker 2: we don't have. But it did beg the question what
- 9:50Speaker 2: is something that you have never done that people would
- 9:53Speaker 2: find surprising? Because I feel like we're adults and we
- 9:57Speaker 2: just assume like, yeah, every other adult has had this experience.
- 10:01Speaker 2: But I feel like there are several things that people
- 10:03Speaker 2: have not done for me. In particular, what haven't I done?
- 10:09Speaker 2: I don't know, be successful.
- 10:11Speaker 3: No auto?
- 10:15Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, Gabe, I hate you. That is what
- 10:18Speaker 4: it is.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I've never had my bills on auto. That also doubles
- 10:22Speaker 2: is a bucket list item. But we did have some
- 10:25Speaker 2: people chime in on our Instagram. Emily said, I have
- 10:29Speaker 2: never broken a bone? Oh sure, have you broken one.
- 10:34Speaker 2: My first one was a couple of years ago. Yeah.
- 10:36Speaker 3: I made it to my thirties without breaking anything. Yeah.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Oh wow, I've never broken a bone either. Knock on
- 10:41Speaker 2: wood though, because now I feel like we've said it.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Yeah, it's on the way.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Ye yeah, especially at my big age, I feel like
- 10:47Speaker 2: I'll break a bone doing something silly. Tara said, I'm
- 10:51Speaker 2: thirty seven and I've never eaten oat meal?
- 10:54Speaker 3: Really yeah on accident?
- 10:57Speaker 4: How do you accidentally eat oatmeal?
- 11:00Speaker 1: Had a hotel and they don't have anything for breakfast
- 11:02Speaker 1: other than oatmeal?
- 11:03Speaker 3: All you didn't just be like, oh, that's what's there.
- 11:06Speaker 4: He's also never been to a hotel. Just kidding, I
- 11:08Speaker 4: made that up.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Eric said, never been on a roller coaster. Don't plan
- 11:12Speaker 2: on changing that. Yeah, coasters are so fun, but I
- 11:16Speaker 2: guess if you have like a fear of heights and
- 11:18Speaker 2: you get Naso Easy, maybe avoid that. Cory Anne said
- 11:23Speaker 2: never owned a smartphone.
- 11:26Speaker 4: I'm sorry she's so this was on Instagram. So she's
- 11:31Speaker 4: using Instagram on desktop.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Wow, like log into your care Yeah, I don't even
- 11:37Speaker 1: know my Instagram password.
- 11:38Speaker 4: That's oh how funny. No, I don't know my mother.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Yeah, and then Brandy said I've never lived alone, went
- 11:46Speaker 2: from my mom's house to living with roommates all this one.
- 11:51Speaker 2: How did I not think I have also never lived alone?
- 11:54Speaker 3: I gow up.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Listen, I'm Cuban b and in the Latin household, you
- 11:59Speaker 2: stay living with your mom, with your parents until you
- 12:03Speaker 2: move into your husband's house, which is exactly what I did.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Wow, and now I'm not with my husband anymore.
- 12:09Speaker 2: But I got these kids kids, So yeah, I still
- 12:12Speaker 2: will never have lived alone.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Good for you.
- 12:15Speaker 4: What about you, Gabe? What's something you've never heard? Done
- 12:18Speaker 4: I have?
- 12:19Speaker 3: Well, I've never had a cavity.
- 12:21Speaker 4: You never meet either.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I've never had a cavity, So that's about it.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I've also never had eggnog, which is kind of surprising.
- 12:27Speaker 1: If you see me on a Saturday night running around downtown, you.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Just look like an egg nog kind of guy.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Rainy Weather.
- 12:38Speaker 1: The ice Bucket Challenge was created in twenty fourteen to
- 12:43Speaker 1: raise awareness for al ASCID, exploded into this massive global
- 12:47Speaker 1: trend that helped raise one hundred and fifteen million dollars
- 12:51Speaker 1: for als.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Oh wow, I didn't know was that much.
- 12:54Speaker 3: I was a ton of money.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Eleven years later, the trend has made a return and
- 12:58Speaker 1: this year or and this I'm around excuse me, it's
- 13:01Speaker 1: more directed towards mental health awareness. The problem is some
- 13:07Speaker 1: people are not a big fan of this, the ice
- 13:09Speaker 1: Bucket Challenge, even though it's doing something essentially really positive
- 13:14Speaker 1: for people and for money and awareness and whatever. Some
- 13:18Speaker 1: people are not a fan of rebranding the ice Bucket Challenge,
- 13:22Speaker 1: and they aren't a fan of bringing it.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Back because it feels like reheating their not shows.
- 13:28Speaker 4: I just really wanted to use that because that's what the.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Kids are saying.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Oh is that a cool, cool kid term. Yeah, basically, yes,
- 13:34Speaker 1: that's exactly right. People aren't really happy that something that
- 13:37Speaker 1: was already used for something super positive, they're basically doing
- 13:40Speaker 1: the exact same thing for something else. I don't know
- 13:42Speaker 1: if it's because it might be they think it's taking
- 13:44Speaker 1: away from als.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I'm not sure.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Maybe they just want people to be more creative.
- 13:49Speaker 3: That might be it.
- 13:50Speaker 2: In twenty twenty five, did you do the ice Bucket Challenge?
- 13:53Speaker 1: I did participate in the ice Bucket Challenge back in
- 13:55Speaker 1: the day, Yeah you did?
- 13:57Speaker 4: What did that look like? I didn't do it?
- 13:59Speaker 3: Yeah? I was at the time.
- 14:01Speaker 1: There was a I was working at a radio station,
- 14:03Speaker 1: and if you did the ice Bucket challenge, you know,
- 14:05Speaker 1: you always wanted to try to be as funny or
- 14:07Speaker 1: whatever as you could. And I had on like a
- 14:11Speaker 1: duck floaty around my waist wing floaties, I had scuba
- 14:15Speaker 1: goggles on, and there was a car dealership they participated in.
- 14:19Speaker 4: Oh so you went all out?
- 14:21Speaker 3: Yeah I did.
- 14:22Speaker 1: And I was kind of going back and thinking, Man,
- 14:25Speaker 1: these trends really have caught on and got popularity.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Like you see these trends all the time.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Yeah, they just I mean the advent of social media. Man,
- 14:35Speaker 2: a trend will like catch fire.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:37Speaker 1: I was kind of curious, Hey, did you ever participate
- 14:40Speaker 1: in a viral trend?
- 14:42Speaker 3: With our jobs? Uh, we're kind of doing all the trends.
- 14:46Speaker 4: Yeah, we're expecting for.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Your enjoyment on social media, but that doesn't mean you
- 14:51Speaker 1: haven't done them. Let us know at seven oh one
- 14:53Speaker 1: two eight zero one nine eight seven, Melanie, what viral
- 14:57Speaker 1: trend did you participate in?
- 15:00Speaker 5: Committed to the twenty twelve Comble era, flower crowns, galaxy
- 15:03Speaker 5: leggings and deep quotes over black and white photos like
- 15:06Speaker 5: I was living in an indie film.
- 15:09Speaker 2: I thought I was mysterious. I was aggressively overfiltered.
- 15:13Speaker 1: That brings memories back twenty twelve tumbler.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Ever, Oh my gosh, what a vibe. Melanie just transported
- 15:21Speaker 2: me back to.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Who I was.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Trent.
- 15:25Speaker 1: We also have Trent online. Trent, did you participate in
- 15:27Speaker 1: any viral trend? Men? I remember doing the cinnamon challenge
- 15:30Speaker 1: and man, that was a big mistake.
- 15:33Speaker 3: That was where you try to eat a spoonful of cinnamon.
- 15:35Speaker 1: You just can't do it.
- 15:37Speaker 2: You can end up choking and coughing.
- 15:39Speaker 3: It was just so not worth it.
- 15:40Speaker 4: That's so dangerous.
- 15:42Speaker 3: The cinnamon challenge is not great for you.
- 15:44Speaker 4: No, it's so dangerous, like you could die.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Now, there are one of us on Big ninety eight
- 15:50Speaker 1: point seven in the Morning has done the cinnamon challenge,
- 15:53Speaker 1: and we will leave that up to you to try
- 15:55Speaker 1: to figure out who There was this viral story that
- 16:03Speaker 1: got released online and I tracked it down here and
- 16:05Speaker 1: I purposefully have not told Angie the answer to this,
- 16:08Speaker 1: so she is going to find out in real time,
- 16:10Speaker 1: just like you are. If you are a parent of
- 16:13Speaker 1: a kid who goes to school in you know, the
- 16:15Speaker 1: elementary age, right. So there's this kindergarten teacher named Emily Perkins,
- 16:20Speaker 1: who's gone a little bit viral as people have asked
- 16:23Speaker 1: her online, Hey, what would you like our kid to
- 16:27Speaker 1: learn to be the most successful before they get to kindergarten.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Oh that's a good question, because let me tell you,
- 16:34Speaker 2: when both my kids started kindergarten, I had no clue
- 16:37Speaker 2: what I needed to do.
- 16:38Speaker 4: I just sent them in with a prayer and a wish.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Right, Most parents probably don't have a clue. Yeah, they
- 16:44Speaker 1: don't know. And I think this could be applied to
- 16:47Speaker 1: any kid in elementary school. Summer is right around the corner.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Maybe this is the summer. This is a skill that
- 16:53Speaker 1: your kid learns, right. Okay, this teacher says telling your
- 16:57Speaker 1: kids no no is not a bad word. Do not
- 17:02Speaker 1: teach them that Telling them no automatically invites an argument,
- 17:07Speaker 1: because if teachers in school can't tell your child no
- 17:10Speaker 1: as an adult, and they don't respect no, they're pretty
- 17:13Speaker 1: much unteachable. The thing is, if a kid can't accept
- 17:16Speaker 1: hearing no from their parents, they are definitely not going
- 17:19Speaker 1: to accept hearing it from a teacher, and that makes
- 17:22Speaker 1: it really hard to help them learn.
- 17:24Speaker 4: So that's where I went round.
- 17:28Speaker 1: While a mom or dad may have time to explain
- 17:31Speaker 1: why they're saying no. A teacher doesn't always have that luxury,
- 17:35Speaker 1: and frankly, they shouldn't have to spell out reasoning all
- 17:37Speaker 1: the time.
- 17:38Speaker 3: My whole job is explaining.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Think of the logistics, she says, if we're lining up
- 17:43Speaker 1: for a fire drill, No you may not stay inside
- 17:45Speaker 1: if the building is on fire, or no, you may
- 17:48Speaker 1: not climb on the table because it's not safe. Learning
- 17:51Speaker 1: to accept the word no is an essential life skill
- 17:54Speaker 1: and one all kids should be working on when they
- 17:57Speaker 1: start elementary school. So if you have an elementary tree student,
- 18:01Speaker 1: maybe that's something you could just work on this summer.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Maybe your kid already knows the word now. So yeah,
- 18:05Speaker 1: But I feel like I thought that was very interesting.
- 18:08Speaker 4: That is true.
- 18:09Speaker 2: I feel like as a parent, you try to have
- 18:11Speaker 2: your kid accept no for an answer, because honestly, in life,
- 18:16Speaker 2: when you're trying to get the kids out the door,
- 18:18Speaker 2: when you're trying to do anything with your kids and
- 18:20Speaker 2: you have to tell them no, and then they're like, well,
- 18:23Speaker 2: why they're whining?
- 18:25Speaker 3: Right?
- 18:25Speaker 2: I think that's where we've all adopted to just saying
- 18:28Speaker 2: because I said.
- 18:29Speaker 1: So, right, And it's like a life skill I think
- 18:33Speaker 1: to learn as you grow up, You're not always going
- 18:35Speaker 1: to get what you want. It's not always going to
- 18:37Speaker 1: be easy, it's not always going to be fair, or
- 18:38Speaker 1: it's not always going to go your way. But learning
- 18:41Speaker 1: to accept that at a young age is probably pretty responsible.
- 18:45Speaker 1: But we wanted to open this up to other teachers
- 18:47Speaker 1: who might be listening to Big ninety eight point seven today.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Yeah, seven oh one two eight h one ninety eight seven.
- 18:53Speaker 2: What is something that you would like students to work
- 18:56Speaker 2: on over the summer so that they're ready by the
- 18:59Speaker 2: time they get into your classroom. What should they be
- 19:01Speaker 2: working on so us parents know what we're doing over
- 19:05Speaker 2: the summer.
- 19:05Speaker 1: When I first opened up, or when I first learned
- 19:07Speaker 1: about this story, this viral article here, I thought it
- 19:10Speaker 1: was going to be something like, you know what, teach
- 19:12Speaker 1: your kids to put their own dang straw in the
- 19:15Speaker 1: Capri sunpack or teach them how to open up their
- 19:17Speaker 1: own pudding pack.
- 19:21Speaker 4: There are scammers afoot everywhere.
- 19:24Speaker 3: I don't know why, but a foot always kind of
- 19:26Speaker 3: makes me laugh.
- 19:27Speaker 1: You are right, though, they I get a probably a
- 19:29Speaker 1: scam text every other day.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Yeah, so many scam texts.
- 19:32Speaker 2: The one that was big for a long time and
- 19:34Speaker 2: I think still is is the tolls right where they
- 19:37Speaker 2: send you a text yeah I got it and it's
- 19:39Speaker 2: like yesterday, and it's like, uh, we're not going to
- 19:41Speaker 2: fall for that.
- 19:41Speaker 4: We're in Fargo, there are no.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Tools, m pass. You owe us five hundred and eighty
- 19:46Speaker 1: seven dollars.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Yeah, wild, And so obviously don't don't fall for those
- 19:51Speaker 2: scam texts. But then there was another one here with
- 19:54Speaker 2: the Fargo Police Department where people were trying to solicit
- 19:58Speaker 2: donations to raise fun un for Bargo Police Department officer training.
- 20:03Speaker 2: That's not real, that's a scam. They will never ask
- 20:06Speaker 2: you for money. So that's one. But have you seen
- 20:08Speaker 2: this scam which is a little bit more like low key,
- 20:12Speaker 2: and it's where someone texts you from a wrong number.
- 20:16Speaker 2: But it's something innocuous like oh yeah, I'll be there
- 20:20Speaker 2: in twenty minutes, and then you you know, someone will
- 20:24Speaker 2: respond like uh, I think you have the wrong number.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Oh I'm so sorry, who's this and they try to
- 20:29Speaker 2: get you to start talking and then that's how they
- 20:32Speaker 2: try to fish information out of you.
- 20:35Speaker 4: That's that's a scam. So if you get a.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Wrong number and they're like, hey, oh oops, I must
- 20:40Speaker 2: have the wrong number, Like, no, they don't have the
- 20:42Speaker 2: wrong number. In the day and age of cell phones,
- 20:44Speaker 2: everybody saves the contact information, right, Okay, you're not. It's
- 20:48Speaker 2: a scam, But I have found a way. I was
- 20:51Speaker 2: getting these a lot. I've found a way to stop
- 20:53Speaker 2: these scammers from trying to fish information out of meat.
- 20:58Speaker 4: And I'll give you the example.
- 21:00Speaker 2: I got a text that said, Hi, I'm Ray looking
- 21:03Speaker 2: for a home like twenty eight to twenty five Somerset Drive.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Would you be open to an offer? And so I responded,
- 21:11Speaker 2: the haunted house where that girl was murdered.
- 21:15Speaker 3: That's pretty good.
- 21:16Speaker 4: And they never texted me again. Pretty good anytime.
- 21:19Speaker 2: I just replied with something so weird, kind of morbid,
- 21:22Speaker 2: and they're like, we're.
- 21:23Speaker 4: Not gonna deal with this, brod.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Yeah, we're not dealing with that.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Is there a scam that you have received or seen
- 21:29Speaker 1: the last I don't know, week, two weeks, maybe last
- 21:31Speaker 1: month that you thought was kind of strange, Maybe other
- 21:34Speaker 1: people don't know about. Let us know it's seven oh
- 21:36Speaker 1: one two eight zero one nine eight seven, because you
- 21:41Speaker 1: never know when one could come to your followder.
- 21:43Speaker 3: It's kind of sad actually.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Yeah, And also tell your parents tell your parents.
- 21:48Speaker 2: I had to tell my mom about this so that
- 21:51Speaker 2: she wouldn't fall for the scam game.
- 21:53Speaker 3: That actually makes me pretty sad.
- 21:54Speaker 5: I know.
- 21:57Speaker 1: We wanted to know what is a show you are
- 21:59Speaker 1: currently obsessed with? And they're well, hopefully are a lot
- 22:02Speaker 1: of people who hear this and go, yep.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I know what that show is.
- 22:06Speaker 4: Oh, that's right, this is the Big I know what
- 22:09Speaker 4: that show is. Yeah.
- 22:11Speaker 2: We posed the question on Big ninety eight point seven
- 22:13Speaker 2: spacebook page, and a lot of you are aligned with me.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Right now, everyone is watching Ransom Canyon.
- 22:22Speaker 3: And there's a reason why we asked this question. There
- 22:25Speaker 3: are so.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Many fire TV shows right now. We know, Hey, which
- 22:30Speaker 1: one did you watch first? Which one has you hooked?
- 22:32Speaker 3: Right now?
- 22:33Speaker 1: The Last of Us is on the final season of
- 22:36Speaker 1: A Handmaid's Tale is on you just came out on Netflix. Yeah,
- 22:40Speaker 1: Ransom Canyon obviously incredibly, incredibly popular, and I, Cory and
- 22:45Speaker 1: I are currently watching all of them at once.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Oh gosh, how are you keeping up?
- 22:50Speaker 1: Kind of tough, but we don't really have a choice.
- 22:52Speaker 1: With the Last of Us you only get one episode
- 22:55Speaker 1: a week.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Oh.
- 22:56Speaker 1: On the Handmade Sale, you'll only get I think they
- 22:58Speaker 1: give you the first three and then you'll get one
- 23:00Speaker 1: episode a week.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Okay, I kind of like the weekly, you know whatever,
- 23:05Speaker 2: so it doesn't feel overwhelming. But Ransom Canyon on Netflix,
- 23:08Speaker 2: all episodes are out. I'm like, on episode three, I think,
- 23:11Speaker 2: no episode four. But it's so good And I think
- 23:15Speaker 2: the reason I love it so much is because it's
- 23:18Speaker 2: if Yellowstone.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Met Virgin River.
- 23:21Speaker 3: I like both and had a baby.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Yes, and Virgin River's not on right now. I don't
- 23:25Speaker 2: know if Yellowstone is. I think I just don't have
- 23:27Speaker 2: that streaming service anymore. But Netflix has Ransom Canyon right now.
- 23:31Speaker 2: It stars Josh Duoamel and Minka Kelly. And you're a
- 23:35Speaker 2: Minka Kelly fan.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Well, she was in one of the greatest TV shows
- 23:38Speaker 3: of all time, Friday Night Light.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, she looks amazing. It's such an interesting Yeah,
- 23:44Speaker 4: it's such an interesting story.
- 23:46Speaker 2: And then I love that Josh Dumel like he is
- 23:49Speaker 2: married to Miss North Dakota, and right, that's amazing.
- 23:51Speaker 4: But we got some good answers. Kayla is watching The
- 23:54Speaker 4: Handmaid's Tale and.
- 23:56Speaker 1: You, she is right in line with my wife and I.
- 23:59Speaker 1: We watched We're almost done with you. We got up
- 24:01Speaker 1: to episode it's either seven or eight yesterday, I can't remember.
- 24:04Speaker 1: So I'm kind of excited to see how it ends.
- 24:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:06Speaker 3: I've been a final season as well of that.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Yeah, but like the series finale, I just finished it.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I think you'll like it. Holly is also watching you,
- 24:15Speaker 2: but she's watching Running Point on Netflix.
- 24:17Speaker 4: Have you seen this?
- 24:18Speaker 2: This is Kate Hudson's new show and it came out
- 24:21Speaker 2: I think, I want to say it.
- 24:22Speaker 4: Like the end of February, early March.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Okay, and I don't think i've I'm sure I've seen
- 24:26Speaker 1: like the trailer or whatever, but I don't think i've
- 24:28Speaker 1: seen it all.
- 24:28Speaker 4: Oh, it's a fun show.
- 24:30Speaker 2: It's like she's a NEPO baby who inherits a basketball team.
- 24:33Speaker 3: And then like the high Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, that's.
- 24:36Speaker 2: A good one. Irena is watching Last of Us, Let's Go.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Jason is watching Suits and is it Suits La or
- 24:44Speaker 2: the original Suit?
- 24:45Speaker 4: That's what I'm wondering.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I go all the way back to Suits when it
- 24:48Speaker 1: was on Channel fifty seven USA, watching that every week
- 24:52Speaker 1: with my mother. Oh my gosh, my mom and I
- 24:55Speaker 1: would sit down and watch that show every Thursday when
- 24:57Speaker 1: it first came out.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a core memor memory for you.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Charlene just finished Goliath on Prime. I have heard that
- 25:06Speaker 2: that's a good show, and I think that's going to
- 25:07Speaker 2: be my next one.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Okay, Well, if you are looking for a new show,
- 25:10Speaker 1: maybe you're close to finishing one and you're like, oh,
- 25:13Speaker 1: what do I do next?
- 25:13Speaker 3: Where do I turn?
- 25:14Speaker 4: Well?
- 25:15Speaker 3: Go to Big ninety eight point seven on Facebook.
- 25:17Speaker 1: A lot of fantastic recommendations and shows people absolutely love
- 25:21Speaker 1: because the streaming services are flooded with amazing shows right now.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Night earlier, we discussed how the ice Bucket Challenge is
- 25:30Speaker 2: making a comeback, first in twenty fourteen to raise awareness
- 25:34Speaker 2: for als. Now it's back to raise awareness for mental health.
- 25:37Speaker 2: But it got us thinking what other viral challenge is
- 25:41Speaker 2: did you take part in? And we posted on the
- 25:45Speaker 2: Big ninety eight point seven Instagram who do you think
- 25:48Speaker 2: out of me? And Gabe took part in the Cinnamon Challenge.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Which fool tried to complete that.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Well with sixty seven percent of the vote. Gabe, the
- 26:00Speaker 2: listeners have determined that you, in fact were the fool.
- 26:03Speaker 2: They've tried the Cinnamon challenge. Yeah, people thought that was me? Yeah,
- 26:09Speaker 2: all right, Okay, your tone is revealing the truth, it
- 26:13Speaker 2: was not the foolish.
- 26:14Speaker 3: I do not do that.
- 26:15Speaker 2: No, Angie Morales took part in the cinnamon challenge.
- 26:19Speaker 4: It was not my finest hour. I was just doing
- 26:21Speaker 4: it because I was a.
- 26:22Speaker 2: YouTuber at the time and everybody was doing the Cinnamon Challenge.
- 26:26Speaker 4: I do not recommend it was a foolish choice.
- 26:30Speaker 2: However, I will share a clip of the video on
- 26:33Speaker 2: the Big.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Ninety eight point seven Instagram. If you don't follow us
- 26:36Speaker 4: on there, be sure to give us a follow.
- 26:38Speaker 1: That's right, all right, We're gonna end the show here
- 26:40Speaker 1: today with Gabe's good News of the day. This is
- 26:45Speaker 1: a very cute story about this postal worker named Josh
- 26:49Speaker 1: who found a ten dollars bill in a homeowner's driveway
- 26:52Speaker 1: while delivering mail.
- 26:53Speaker 3: He's worked for.
- 26:54Speaker 1: The US Postal Service for about ten years, and he
- 26:57Speaker 1: tried to ring the doorbell, but no one was home,
- 26:59Speaker 1: so he left the money along with a handwritten note.
- 27:03Speaker 1: The entire act, of course, was captured on the home
- 27:06Speaker 1: surveillance video and the homeowner, her name is Sarah. She
- 27:09Speaker 1: returned from work and found the note with the cash,
- 27:11Speaker 1: Calling it the sweetest thing. She shared how the small
- 27:15Speaker 1: act of kindness brightened her entire day and inspired her
- 27:17Speaker 1: to tell all of the neighbors about the thoughtful gesture.
- 27:20Speaker 1: She says that or excuse me, the mailman Josh He said,
- 27:24Speaker 1: he hopes the simple act of kindness can spark a
- 27:27Speaker 1: ripple effect of goodwill.
- 27:29Speaker 3: How beautiful is that?
- 27:30Speaker 2: That's really sweet and honestly, these days, every dollar counts.
- 27:33Speaker 4: I would need a ten dollars bill returned to me.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Yeah, so just a very sweet guy.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I think it's a perfect time to remind you that
- 27:40Speaker 1: the world is full of nice people. If you can't
- 27:42Speaker 1: find one, you gotta be one.
