- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Good morning,
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: everyone,
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: and welcome to the Patrick Henry Podcast,
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: where we hold the elite's feet to the fire, as they so rightly should be held.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: And greetings from America.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: I'm jet lagged out of my mind.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: I've been up since four in the morning.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: I thought I'd give myself the day to catch up on my reading, get a little bit of sleep.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: I'm having this lovely dinner with John and his fiancee,
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Rochelle,
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: to celebrate all the good things that there are and their wedding in a week.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And we have the midterms ahead,
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: 15 or so meetings in the next two weeks, a lot of exciting things going on there.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: And I will take you with me as we have this grand adventure in America in our effort
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: to continue to revive realism, Jeffersonianism, and rule of the people.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: And because of that, I don't get the day off.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: I don't get to choose when the news happens.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: One of the things I lecture our staff about all the time,
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: and that's no more true than now,
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: And that's true for me as well,
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: because there's been an incredibly important development in Poland.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: As always with Eastern European politics, it's going to seem murky.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: So I commend to you Roger Kimball's piece, An American Grandfather.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: The Patrick Henry podcast scheme of things.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: It's going to become very clear beyond the murk of the immediate as
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: to what's truly going on at a deeper level,
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: which is this is the age-old fight between those who think they know better.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Rule of experts,
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: as that insufferable racist Woodrow Wilson put it 100 years ago,
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: and the rule of the people.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Let's remember that at the height of COVID, Dr. Fauci,
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: when he was at the height of his power,
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: mused out loud in Reau Claire Politics that maybe these old-fashioned quaint beliefs
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: and naive Jeffersonian ideas like individual liberty and rule of
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: the people might have to be revisited if we're going to really have problems.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: This
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: from the man who led to the spread of the virus in the first place,
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: outrageous in his moral preening and superiority.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: But he's not alone,
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: as those of you who've been following me for the last 10 years,
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: 20 years, actually since I began at Heritage in 1999, 27 years ago, have known that
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: That like Jefferson,
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: I have sworn upon the altar of Almighty God eternal enmity against every form
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: of tyranny over the mind of man.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: That means that I believe in the people and not rule of the experts.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: And in essence, sincerely.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Since Wilson,
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: that's what the fight's been about between realism,
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Jeffersonianism,
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: populism,
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: and rule of the people versus government, a globalist government by the experts.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: And one of the great global symbols of this is an EU.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: one of the things we have going in our favor is the experts continue to be wrong
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: about so very much.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: They've certainly screwed up COVID,
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: but in the case of the EU,
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: the poster child of this globalist view over the last generation,
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: they failed over the big three things that we talk about over and over.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Again, 80 plus quarters of anemic growth as Europe has become an economic backwater economy.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Over-regulated, over-taxed, and without people prepared to take risks as a result of that.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: More socialist than everything else.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: There's an extraordinary factoid out there that government spending in France is now 57% of GDP.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: In the Soviet Union, it was only 50%.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Yes, the French government are outspending the communists.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: And I think that this is an underestimated reason for its failure.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: It isn't capitalistic.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: It's state-run capitalism, as is China.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: But without Deng Xiaoping before juicing things more on the free market side,
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: instead you have a backwater because of this too.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: We've talked about over and over again,
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: and we will again, unfettered, unassimilated immigration.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Poland is a great example of that.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Poland refuses to accept EU norms and let in immigrants.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: And as a result,
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: Poland has far more social cohesion,
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: a far lower rate of criminality, and as a result has boomed.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: Poland now economically is on a par of slightly above Italy.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: If you can believe it in one generation because it is capitalistic,
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: it is cohesive,
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: it won't accept these EU standards and as a result is looked upon
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: with deep suspicion by the ever harder pressed folks in Brussels
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: who have failed economically.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: So the background of this is clear.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: We have an EU beset on all sides by
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: That populist movement,
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Marine Le Pen and national rally likely to win the French presidential election in
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: the spring.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: We've been calling this forever.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: No secret.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: This is going to be at one of our big calls next year.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: There we are.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: That you have a mix of the old right and the new right in Spain,
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: the populist party in Vox likely to form a coalition government as the You
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: have
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: the AFD as the largest single party in Germany.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: You have Maloney in power in Italy.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: You can go on and on and on.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: This government of experts it's supposed to know better hasn't known better and has
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: in fact done horribly.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: And as a result,
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: they see the rise of populism who may not have the right answers,
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: but at least are asking the right questions.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: So that's the backdrop to what I'm going to explain happened in Poland.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: It seems like a rather obscure judicial matter, but it's not.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: At base, this is about the oldest question in the world.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Who rules?
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Is it the people or are it the globalist experts increasingly with their backs up
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: against the wall as they have failed abjectly to be successful in spite
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: of their preening and pretensions, which know no bounds.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: My favorite X of the week is somehow Christine Lagarde,
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: who was convicted of I mean, I'm accused of arrogance if I said something like,
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: That staff would hit me in the head with a brick until I stopped moving.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: She's patting herself on the back in an axe for a job well done
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: while Europe has fallen apart economically under her watch with no answers
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: to regulation, no answers to growth, and she thinks she's done an amazing job.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: And no one's talking back at the establishment level.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: As they keep giving themselves awards for things they haven't done,
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: keep writing papers that no one's read,
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: and keep speaking at conferences where only they are there.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Again, Marie Antoinette, and I love the French Revolution.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: I'm just about to start Colin Jones's great book on the fall of Robespierre.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: Marie Antoinette in the French Revolution didn't say let them eat cake.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: This is unfairly attributed to her.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: But the point is she might have.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: The point is she could well have said that.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: People could imagine her saying that based upon her little milkmaid routine on
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: the grounds of Versailles while the people were starving.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: And as a result of this, people believe that might be possible.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: This is an elite so out of touch with reality that they still think they are superior.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: And we've got Lagarde saying what a great job she did, while all facts are to the contrary.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: But they know that they're pressed.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: They think unfairly by these knuckle-dragging nationalist populist elites
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: who believe in rule of the people.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: So keep that in mind as we talk about that.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: That's what's going on underneath what can only be described as a power grab is
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: the generous way to describe what Donald Tusk did.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: Remember,
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Donald Tusk was president,
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: the current prime minister in Poland, was president of the European Council.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: He's a card-carrying member of the Brussels elite.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: And he's gone back to Poland to run the place.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: On the other hand,
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: the PIS party, our populist Polish nationalists, often very prickly about that.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: And so this is a confrontation that's been coming.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: But let's go through what Roger Kimball said step by step,
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: and then we'll look at the bigger issue at work.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: Now, The first step is Donald Tusk is attempting to appoint eight judges to
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: the constitutional court.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Part of the background of this is that if Poland is ever going to adopt the euro,
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: you would need to make constitutional changes that would be upheld by this court.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: And also because of the ongoing immigration differences between the EU and
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: the court, it would have to give way.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: Now, in the past,
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: the court has committed the one unpardonable sin,
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: For any national group to do at a judicial level.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: It is plainly said that Polish law trumps EU law.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: It is plainly said Polish law trumps EU law when they come into conflict.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: And the EU said this makes the court illegitimate because to join the EU,
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: you must accept the supremacy and primacy of the EU.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: Which again, we're talking about who rules.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: So that's the background.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: So to help make the court,
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: which has seen a majority put forward by the PIS,
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: the nationalist populist prickly people,
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: the court has a majority of people of that view on it.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: Tusk attempts to appoint,
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: with his majority in parliament,
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: attempts to appoint eight judges to the constitutional court.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: Now, constitutionally, he's allowed to appoint judges.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: But the key constitutional fact is he's only allowed to appoint three and he wants
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: to appoint eight.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: Sound familiar to people who love the squad in America?
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: This is court packing.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: This is simple.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: This is court packing.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: He's constitutionally allowed to appoint three.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: He wants to appoint eight.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: That's the first step in this.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: Second, the president,
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: the head of state,
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: President Karol Naraki,
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: who is a member of the PIS, is a pro-Trump, nationalist PIS populist.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Naraki says he swore in only three,
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: which is the constitutional number, not swearing in the other five.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Tusk organized a parallel swearing-in of the other five in his effort to court pack,
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: administering the oath himself to the other five,
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: though the Constitution is clear that only the president,
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: meaning President Nairaqi, Only he can do the swearing in.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: But Tusk ignored the Constitution and went ahead and did it anyway.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: That lackey for the globalist elite,
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: who unfortunately I know a little bit,
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: Radek Sikorsky and his much more odious wife,
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: Ann Applebaum, even Radek admitted that this was not elegant.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: That's the understatement of the century.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: So Narwaki swears in the three,
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: Tusks illegally swears in the other five by himself,
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: though constitutionally it's clear that only the president can do that.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: Point four,
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: Narwaki as head of state and the man who runs the foreign policy,
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: he goes off to Senegal to have a meeting.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: While he's gone,
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: One of the Tusk judges,
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: one of the five that he illegally swore in,
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: removed the president of the Constitutional Court,
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: who is a backer of populism,
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: is a PIS supporter,
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: removed the president of the Constitutional Court while Naraki was in the air.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: Then it appears that Naraki hears about this.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: And in between while he's off heading towards Senegal on his plane,
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: Narraki,
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: Tusk orders the police to block access to the court and deny entry of the president
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: of the Supreme Court to his offices.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: Now there are policemen put in front so he cannot enter after he's been removed
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: by one of these five lackeys who was sworn in illegally by Tusk.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: Now Rocky is on the air.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: He immediately starts back now Rocky in the air to Poland to deal with him.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: Now, this is where calling this a power grab,
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: not that you'd hear these words in the Guardian or anyone else.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: Again, God bless Elon, because otherwise we wouldn't know this is going on.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: This would be one in a long series of things where we didn't have access to
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: the facts as
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: the establishment mainstream globalist cheerleaders would take advantage
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: of this quite extraordinarily.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: But now Rocky turns around and the ground staff are told not to let him land.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: Is that a power grab or is that an attempted coup?
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: We're certainly dancing on the line, to put it mildly.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: And this gets my Jeffersonian hackles up very obviously.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: So instead, Naraki turns around.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: He lands anyway.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: The plane lands anyway.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: Thank God, no one does anything to the plane, though it seems it was refused permission to land.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: That is the seventh step.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: Personally, then, President Naraki struggles with the police.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: To gain access to the Supreme Court.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: And then on point nine,
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: once he does gain access to the court,
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: he removes the five judges who were sworn in by Tusk and grants the president of
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: the Supreme Court access to his office.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: I think power grab understates this.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: I think this is an attempted coup,
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: but I don't want to get caught in the trap of losing readers or losing arguments
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: about this.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: Whether it is a power grab or an attempted coup, it is way over.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: Tusk's effort at court packing illegal constitutionally is then met by him demanding
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: that the president's plane not land and then putting police around the building not
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: to let in.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: And in turn...
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: Putting his lackeys in power so that the globalist project could continue.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: And we've talked about this before.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: For an area that believes in theory and democracy,
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: the EU doesn't practice it beyond the fact that the The Irish vote no, vote again.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Just vote again until we get the result we like.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Oh, you don't agree with us or the EU ever going on religion of Eurofederalism.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: You don't agree with this process.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: Okay, well, we won't give you any money.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: Oh, you do like Tusk?
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: Suddenly all the money magically is unfrozen.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: These guys play hard and they like to win.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: Romania, you're going to elect a populist president.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: We'll just annul the result.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: This is getting out of hand.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: You have to accept in a democratic system that you're going to lose an awful lot of the time.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: God knows I have had to deal with Wilsonians and neocons my entire adult life,
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: running American foreign policy into a ditch.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: But that doesn't mean...
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: I get to stop and say they aren't somehow the legitimate people.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: George W. Bush legitimately won elections, as did various Democrats, including Barack Obama.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: I still have to put up with the results, much as I don't like with them.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: That is not true.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: How the EU operates,
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: and particularly now with their backs to the wall,
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: any form of belief in democracy seems to be going away.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: And instead, this insane belief that somehow Christine Lagarde did a good job of the ECB.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: And remember,
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: this is what the economists said,
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: Bremer said,
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: the usual establishmentarian cheerleaders,
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: not only are the authoritarian and arrogant,
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: analytically, empirically, they have been wrong over and over and over again.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: In the end, this is about who rules.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: That's what we're dealing with here.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: And what we just saw is It's certainly a power grab well beyond the Constitution.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: So let's not play games with the words.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: Let's acknowledge that reality.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: Again, the key failure, why is all this going on?
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: This seems very hardball for a constitutional court.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: A group of government-backed judges attempted to seize procedural control of
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: the Treasury The country's pro-EU lackey,
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: the Prime Minister Donald Tusk, former head of the European Council, sent police to
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: To the Supreme Court to try to keep the Euroskeptic president out of that because at
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: the end,
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: and Tusk's people are actually saying this fairly forthrightly,
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: this is about Europe.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: Are you going to fall in line with the globalist Eurofederalists?
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: This is about who rules and the different policies they make in the end beneath all
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: the murkiness.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: And that's what we're talking about here.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: And again,
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: the court has made the ultimate sin of saying Polish law takes precedence
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: over EU law, which, of course, the EU says makes it legitimate.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: So Brussels, by saying the court is illegitimate, signed the permit.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: Winked and nodded.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: If that court is illegitimate, well, then Tusk can do what he wants to it.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: And this very much seems to be the play.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: Whether they did this directly and with knowledge or whether they just said...
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: By saying it's illegitimate, this happened.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: Again, I don't want to play games.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: I have no idea.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: My guess would be toward the conspiracy theory.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: But whether I'm right or wrong is immaterial.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: This is what happened.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: And by saying it's illegitimate, this has given Tusk a wink and a nod to go ahead and deal.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: The pro-EU parties are trying to use authoritarian measures
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: to suppress rightist populist movements.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: This is just the most egregious example.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: But as I said, look at the votes over Maastricht.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: Look at the votes for an EU constitution.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: Look at the Lisbon Treaty.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: Look at the annulling of the Romanian president.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: We've been following this all along.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: And sadly, this is a pattern.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: If the peasants aren't going to vote the right way, they can vote again.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: And if they're not, you know what?
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: We'll use extra constitutional means to get what we want.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: That can never be accepted.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: Never be accepted.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: And you don't get to skip the rules because you don't like the outcome.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: These are about the very basic things moving forward.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: And there will be more of this, dear community.
