- 0:47Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with
- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:54Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:56Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's work with notes, quotes,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and story along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:02Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:05Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that He has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. Now, if
- 1:11Speaker 1: you miss a portion of today's broadcast or would like
- 1:13Speaker 1: to recommend it to a friend, you can hear this
- 1:16Speaker 1: program anytime online at Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now
- 1:21Speaker 1: here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:23Speaker 2: We have been studying the scripture in our series War
- 1:27Speaker 2: and Victory, the Christian Fight of Fate. We have just
- 1:32Speaker 2: gone through the power required in order to do the
- 1:37Speaker 2: work said Jesus did which he promised we would do,
- 1:41Speaker 2: because he would send the Holy Spirit. Now in the
- 1:47Speaker 2: form that we have been able to understand, the Holy
- 1:52Speaker 2: Spirit actually does come to us at the time that
- 1:59Speaker 2: we are saved. He draws us to Jesus. He brings
- 2:04Speaker 2: us into a knowledge of the truth and the work
- 2:09Speaker 2: of the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to teach
- 2:13Speaker 2: us and guide us into all truth, not just a
- 2:18Speaker 2: part of the truth. And so we find that the
- 2:23Speaker 2: gifts of the Spirit brought to us by the Holy
- 2:28Speaker 2: Spirit are demonstrated in the lives of all believers. There
- 2:34Speaker 2: are differences in the gifts, but they are all used
- 2:40Speaker 2: for the same purpose, and that is to edify, to
- 2:45Speaker 2: build up, and to encourage the body of believers. We
- 2:51Speaker 2: do know that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is
- 2:55Speaker 2: something that many people seek and desire, but they do
- 3:00Speaker 2: not realize the empowerment that comes through the surrender to
- 3:06Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit. Jesus said in John's Gospel we read
- 3:13Speaker 2: it before in the fourteenth chapter and verse twelve, where
- 3:20Speaker 2: he said, I assure you, the one who believes in
- 3:24Speaker 2: me will also do the works that I do, and
- 3:29Speaker 2: he will do even greater works than these, because I
- 3:33Speaker 2: am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name,
- 3:38Speaker 2: I will do it, so that the Father may be
- 3:41Speaker 2: glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in
- 3:46Speaker 2: my name, I will do it. Now. If we look
- 3:50Speaker 2: at this portion of scripture and we follow jesus teaching,
- 3:57Speaker 2: he then continues by explaining how this will be accomplished
- 4:05Speaker 2: because they did not understand. He told them that they
- 4:10Speaker 2: were not to be troubled, that they were to believe
- 4:14Speaker 2: in him, that they were to know that they have
- 4:19Speaker 2: seen the Father because they've seen him. But if they
- 4:24Speaker 2: didn't understand that, believe that because of the works that
- 4:30Speaker 2: he actually performed. So if his works were what brought
- 4:36Speaker 2: the evidence of the Father here on earth, then we
- 4:41Speaker 2: have to also understand that it is those works that
- 4:45Speaker 2: he's speaking of that will actually be performed by his believers.
- 4:52Speaker 2: This is so important and we want to understand why
- 4:57Speaker 2: it is so important to to our fight of faith.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Jesus was telling us that with him we are able
- 5:08Speaker 2: to accomplish everything that he originally was purpose to do
- 5:16Speaker 2: here on this earth. He told us that we are
- 5:20Speaker 2: to pray in this manner, that we are to ask
- 5:25Speaker 2: that the Kingdom of Heaven be brought to this earth.
- 5:32Speaker 2: We all have quoted what is commonly known as the
- 5:36Speaker 2: Lord's prayer, but this was not the Lord's prayer. It
- 5:42Speaker 2: was his instruction as to how we were to pray.
- 5:47Speaker 2: So if we're praying that the Kingdom of Heaven comes
- 5:52Speaker 2: to this earth, because we're saying as it is done,
- 5:57Speaker 2: in heaven, let it be done on earth. And so
- 6:03Speaker 2: if it is to be done on earth, then it
- 6:07Speaker 2: is accomplished because of the power that God provides, not
- 6:13Speaker 2: because of what man picks or chooses. You see, there
- 6:17Speaker 2: are many things that we look at today, and one
- 6:20Speaker 2: of them is the debate over what the power of
- 6:25Speaker 2: God is and how it actually becomes used by believers.
- 6:34Speaker 2: And if we know that Jesus gave this power to
- 6:40Speaker 2: all believers, then it is for us to openly seek
- 6:45Speaker 2: to be full of the Holy Spirit. Now I want
- 6:49Speaker 2: to ask a question, and it may seem elementary, but
- 6:53Speaker 2: the question is can we be partially filled with the
- 6:59Speaker 2: Holy Spirit. Well, if we can be partially filled, then
- 7:04Speaker 2: obviously there's more that we can be filled with him.
- 7:10Speaker 2: You see, the Holy Spirit is not just a force
- 7:13Speaker 2: that we reckon with. He is God. He is actually
- 7:18Speaker 2: the living spirit of God. In dwelling his believers, Jesus
- 7:26Speaker 2: said that when he would go to the Father, he
- 7:32Speaker 2: would send the counselor he named him. He said, he's
- 7:38Speaker 2: the spirit of truth. Let me follow in that scripture
- 7:43Speaker 2: in John fourteenth where he says, if you love me,
- 7:48Speaker 2: you will keep my commands and I will ask the father,
- 7:53Speaker 2: and he will give you another counselor to be with
- 7:56Speaker 2: you forever. He is the spirit of truth. The world
- 8:01Speaker 2: is unable to receive him because it doesn't see him
- 8:05Speaker 2: or know him. But you do know him because he
- 8:09Speaker 2: remains with you and will be in you. Notice what
- 8:15Speaker 2: he said, he remains with you and will be in you. Now,
- 8:22Speaker 2: I want us to understand that there is a tremendous
- 8:28Speaker 2: significance in Jesus' statement as we follow from John fourteen.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Beginning in verse nineteen, he says, in a little while,
- 8:39Speaker 2: the world will see me no longer, but you will
- 8:42Speaker 2: see me. Because I live, You will live too. In
- 8:48Speaker 2: that day you will know that I am in my father,
- 8:54Speaker 2: You are in me, and I am in you. The
- 9:01Speaker 2: one who has my commands and keeps them is the
- 9:06Speaker 2: one who loves me. And the one who loves me
- 9:10Speaker 2: will be loved by my father. I also will love
- 9:17Speaker 2: him and reveal myself to him. John fourteen and verses
- 9:25Speaker 2: nineteen through twenty one. Do you notice the significance of
- 9:31Speaker 2: Jesus' statement. He says, in that day you will know
- 9:37Speaker 2: that I am in my Father, and you are in me,
- 9:42Speaker 2: and I am in you. You understand where he's referring
- 9:49Speaker 2: to the Father and Jesus are one, and the Holy
- 9:57Speaker 2: Spirit empowers those who follow and keep his commands to
- 10:03Speaker 2: go into all the world and proclaim his authority over victory,
- 10:13Speaker 2: over death, sin, and the grave. We can't do this
- 10:20Speaker 2: in our own strength. There's no way that our fleshly
- 10:25Speaker 2: ability could stand up against the spiritual enemies that would
- 10:32Speaker 2: actually serve to attack us. But with the Holy Spirit's power,
- 10:39Speaker 2: we are able to be more than Victor's. One of
- 10:44Speaker 2: the things that I need to be able to say
- 10:48Speaker 2: in this particular series is our need today is no
- 10:54Speaker 2: different than the need of the early followers of Jesus
- 11:00Speaker 2: who loved him and kept his commands. Early Christians were persecuted,
- 11:07Speaker 2: burned in oil, fed to lions, They were tortured without mercy,
- 11:13Speaker 2: They were beheaded and crucified. They suffered in the same
- 11:18Speaker 2: way that Jesus suffered. What was the power that amazed
- 11:25Speaker 2: their persecutors? You know, during the threat of all this persecution, these,
- 11:31Speaker 2: in many cases, simple, uneducated, common everyday folks. They went everywhere,
- 11:39Speaker 2: empowered by the Holy Spirit to preach, to heal, to deliver,
- 11:46Speaker 2: and to teach this wonderful, complete good news are we
- 11:53Speaker 2: any different than these early Christians? Are there still people
- 11:57Speaker 2: suffering under the hands of tyrannical gold governments, blinded both
- 12:02Speaker 2: physically and spiritually, broken hearted, poor, afflicted and diseased. Has
- 12:07Speaker 2: philosophy and education and religion eliminated this world's need for
- 12:13Speaker 2: a saving preaching, healing, teaching, delivering and baptizing Lord, Then
- 12:21Speaker 2: we Christian believers must be the vessel God uses, empowered
- 12:28Speaker 2: by his Holy Spirit to advance his kingdom. Read for
- 12:33Speaker 2: yourself Mark sixteen and verses fifteen to eighteen, and also
- 12:40Speaker 2: read Luke Chapter seven and verse twenty two. The answer, folks,
- 12:45Speaker 2: is simple. The world has changed. Times are different, but
- 12:52Speaker 2: Jesus has not changed. He's the same. The Gospel has
- 12:57Speaker 2: not changed, his power has not changed, his instructions have
- 13:03Speaker 2: not changed, and his promises have not changed. He's still
- 13:08Speaker 2: empowering believers to fulfill his great commission to do greater works.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Hebrews thirteen eight tells us that Jesus is the same yesterday, today,
- 13:25Speaker 2: and forever. You know, we now realize the vital importance
- 13:31Speaker 2: of the whole armor of God as his soldiers. Now
- 13:35Speaker 2: all we have to do in obedience to his command
- 13:39Speaker 2: is put it on. We put on Jesus, who represents
- 13:44Speaker 2: all of the facets of the armor. But we need
- 13:48Speaker 2: to know that we are all holy armed, never removed,
- 13:55Speaker 2: the armor inspected regularly. God has tailored to perform His
- 14:01Speaker 2: purpose in you. At every stand fight the good fight
- 14:07Speaker 2: of faith. Advance the Kingdom of God, and great will
- 14:12Speaker 2: be our reward in heaven. Remember we are on the
- 14:19Speaker 2: winning side. Let the whole world know of God's victory
- 14:25Speaker 2: in Jesus's name.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 14:31Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to

- 15:08Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again, here is Richard.
- 15:13Speaker 1: To wrap up today's message.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I'll close with this part of the scripture in Romans
- 15:23Speaker 2: chapter eight and verse seventeen. It says the Spirit himself
- 15:29Speaker 2: bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.
- 15:36Speaker 2: And if children, then heirs heirs of God and joint
- 15:42Speaker 2: heirs with Christ. If indeed we suffer with him, that
- 15:48Speaker 2: we may also be glorified together Romans eighth seventeen. Using this,
- 15:57Speaker 2: we know that Satan and his demons have already been
- 16:02Speaker 2: defeated by Jesus. But remember Jesus came to destroy the
- 16:08Speaker 2: works of the devil on this earth. He left us
- 16:13Speaker 2: to set the captives go in God's power to proclaim
- 16:21Speaker 2: the good news that Jesus defeated the devil, and we
- 16:27Speaker 2: are victorious to follow him in life and in debt.
- 16:33Speaker 2: We are able to follow his commands and love him,
- 16:39Speaker 2: and He will be in us forever. And that is
- 16:46Speaker 2: today's Reflection on the Word.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 16:54Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Word with
- 16:57Speaker 1: Richard King or Richard the entire team. This is Chuck
- 17:00Speaker 1: Christie saying thanks for listening to this edition of Reflections
