- 0:40Speaker 1: One of the great songs from the supergroup Glad to
- 0:43Speaker 1: have you with us on a Thursday as fortune of
- 0:45Speaker 1: the program is brought to you by Radiant Dentistry. Coming up,
- 0:49Speaker 1: talk a little basketball from last night. We've got a
- 0:52Speaker 1: high school report.
- 0:53Speaker 3: We have an.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Abbreviated edition of the Clark Eisenhower Outdoor additional because at
- 0:59Speaker 1: five point fifteen we're making way for women's basketball. But
- 1:04Speaker 1: in Milan, Italy today, the United States won the gold
- 1:08Speaker 1: medal in hockey women's hockey. But wasn't that easy. Canada
- 1:15Speaker 1: scored early in the second period and led one to nothing.
- 1:19Speaker 1: US pulled their goalie and with an extra attacker, captain
- 1:24Speaker 1: Hillary Knight scored the tying goal with two minutes and
- 1:28Speaker 1: four seconds remaining and four minutes and seven seconds in
- 1:32Speaker 1: the overtime, Megan Keller scored the gold medal winner US
- 1:38Speaker 1: two Canada. One earlier, the Swiss won the bronze in overtime.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Two went over Sweden. By the way. The US women
- 1:49Speaker 1: are now three and four in gold medal games against Canada.
- 1:54Speaker 1: The men play in the semifinals tomorrow afternoon against Slovakia.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Canada and Finland play the other semi final game. The
- 2:06Speaker 1: Agimen improved to eighteen and eight basketball last night, eight
- 2:10Speaker 1: and five in the SEC. There was a big sigh
- 2:13Speaker 1: relief from everybody. They had to come from thirteen down
- 2:18Speaker 1: to get it done. Rashwan ag led the way with
- 2:22Speaker 1: seventeen points ten boards, Marcus Hill and Zach Clements each
- 2:27Speaker 1: had fourteen and Ruben Domingus. What did we say yesterday
- 2:32Speaker 1: on the show? I said, if Ruben Domingus can hit
- 2:36Speaker 1: two three pointers, I think A and M will win
- 2:40Speaker 1: the game. Ruben Domingus hit two three pointers, ended up
- 2:45Speaker 1: with thirteen points. Aggie's come from behind and win eighty
- 2:51Speaker 1: to seventy seven. They will be in Norman to play
- 2:55Speaker 1: Oklahoma Saturday night. That game is at seven point thirty
- 3:01Speaker 1: on the SEC Network elsewhere in the SEC. Last night
- 3:09Speaker 1: Tennessee got Oklahoma and in one of the games of
- 3:14Speaker 1: the year, one of the games of the year, Alabama
- 3:21Speaker 1: and Arkansas one twenty to one seventeen. Darius A Cup
- 3:30Speaker 1: scored forty nine points. Last night, Missouri hung on by
- 3:38Speaker 1: a fingernail to beat Vanderbilt eighty one to eighty and
- 3:47Speaker 1: Mississippi State came from behind and beat Auburn. And that
- 3:56Speaker 1: was a heck of a game too. Let's see, oh
- 4:01Speaker 1: I need to well, I don't have that here in
- 4:03Speaker 1: front of me, but I will get that. It seems
- 4:07Speaker 1: like that Kansas basketball coach Bill Self is getting a
- 4:10Speaker 1: little perturbed with Darren Peterson, the presumptive number one pick,
- 4:15Speaker 1: coming up from pulling himselves out of the game. He
- 4:19Speaker 1: scored twenty points in the first half, played three minutes
- 4:24Speaker 1: of the second half, and came out after hitting a
- 4:27Speaker 1: three pointer with quote a cramping issue. It's a concern,
- 4:33Speaker 1: said self. I thought we were past it, but obviously
- 4:38Speaker 1: we're not. It's certainly a concern. Let's see what else
- 4:47Speaker 1: we have. Chris Acopian, second baseman. You know he didn't play.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Was it? Yeah?
- 4:56Speaker 1: One of the games, the last game against Tennis see
- 5:00Speaker 1: Tech over the weekend. Said he was ill, but apparently
- 5:06Speaker 1: he wasn't ill. He has a back issue. Michael Early
- 5:10Speaker 1: said today he's fine. We said he wasn't feeling right.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Then it turned into Chris is sick. He had a
- 5:19Speaker 1: bit of a stiff backs. Precautionary, We'll see. He's going
- 5:25Speaker 1: to be okay. He was four for nine with four
- 5:29Speaker 1: RBIs and a couple of walks. Transfer of course from
- 5:34Speaker 1: Maryland and the Aggie baseball team will begin a series
- 5:41Speaker 1: with pen tomorrow night at six o'clock. We will be
- 5:46Speaker 1: on the air with the pregame at five forty five.
- 5:50Speaker 1: They will play against Saturday afternoon at two and Sunday
- 5:55Speaker 1: afternoon at one. The Major League Baseball Players Association has
- 6:01Speaker 1: a new leader, at least for the time being. Deputy
- 6:04Speaker 1: Executive Director Bruce Meyer has been made interim executive director.
- 6:10Speaker 1: The union said in a statement. Meyer will continue to
- 6:13Speaker 1: act as the mlbpa's chief negotiator for the union's next
- 6:19Speaker 1: basic agreement. The veteran labor attorney replaces Tony Clark, who
- 6:25Speaker 1: left the union after it was found that he had
- 6:28Speaker 1: maintained an inappropriate relationship with his sister in law, who's
- 6:33Speaker 1: a coworker. Clark's departure was not great for the union.
- 6:41Speaker 1: The collective bargaining agreement expires December first. It's believed that
- 6:47Speaker 1: owners desire for a salary cap will lead to lengthy negotiations,
- 6:54Speaker 1: and we've kind of joked before that Kirby Smart needs
- 7:00Speaker 1: to do a defensive driving course for his football team.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Two more Bulldogs have been arrested for misdemeanor reckless driving charges.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Linebackers Chris Cole charged with reckless driving and speeding maximum limits,
- 7:21Speaker 1: while Darren mckinnebong faces misdemeanor charges of reckless driving following
- 7:28Speaker 1: two closely and speeding maximum limits. I think you could
- 7:34Speaker 1: cut and paste this statement from what we've seen over
- 7:38Speaker 1: the last few years. We are aware of the charges
- 7:42Speaker 1: and are actively gathering additional information. As this is an
- 7:48Speaker 1: ongoing legal matter, we will not be providing further comment
- 7:52Speaker 1: at this time. I suggest they put that on the
- 7:55Speaker 1: front page of their website. Just issue statements saying see
- 8:00Speaker 1: our comment on our website. Cole, by the way, was
- 8:04Speaker 1: one of the Bulldog's top pass rushers last year, team
- 8:07Speaker 1: high four and a half sacks, fifty nine tackles, and
- 8:13Speaker 1: now driving issues. I don't know what. I don't know
- 8:20Speaker 1: if it's the water, I don't know if it's the roads.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I don't know if it's the fancy cars now that
- 8:27Speaker 1: these guys are getting paid. But like I said, I
- 8:32Speaker 1: think maybe driver's education would be good for the entire
- 8:40Speaker 1: Georgia football team. I'm not saying there aren't other programs
- 8:47Speaker 1: whose players have gotten tickets speeding tickets, but it seems
- 8:53Speaker 1: to happen more frequently in Athens for some reason. Not
- 9:01Speaker 1: sure what that's all about. I do want to say
- 9:05Speaker 1: that tomorrow I'll be visiting with Kurt Bowles. Ryan will
- 9:08Speaker 1: be here next week. A week from today, we will
- 9:14Speaker 1: be at the Brass County Expo Center Live with the
- 9:19Speaker 1: Taste of Aggie Lead one of our favorite events of
- 9:23Speaker 1: the year. Why because I get free food, They bring
- 9:28Speaker 1: me free food, and you get to listen to me
- 9:31Speaker 1: eat on the radio. I mean, what could be better?
- 9:34Speaker 1: Than that, it's an award winner every year. Next week
- 9:38Speaker 1: a week from today at the Brass County Expo Center.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Also next week either Monday or Tuesday. Still working it out,
- 9:49Speaker 1: Dan and Laura Dotson will join me. They are the
- 9:53Speaker 1: auctioneers for A and E's Storage Wars. A and E
- 9:58Speaker 1: will begin it's seventeenth season of Storage Wars next week
- 10:05Speaker 1: and Dan and Laura Dotson are going to be here
- 10:08Speaker 1: to tell us their story. Pay the lady. If you watch,
- 10:14Speaker 1: you know what I'm talking about. If you don't, you
- 10:17Speaker 1: don't have a clue, but you'll listen anyway because you go, hey,
- 10:20Speaker 1: that sounds interesting and it is okay.
- 10:24Speaker 5: Oh.
- 10:25Speaker 1: And they're playing the Genesis Open at Riviera Country Club
- 10:30Speaker 1: in Los Angeles. After three and a half inches of
- 10:32Speaker 1: rain out there. Rory McElroy, Colin Moricata, kawa Akshay Batilla
- 10:39Speaker 1: are all three under par playing the front nine. They
- 10:42Speaker 1: got a late start because of the weather. Scottie Scheffler
- 10:45Speaker 1: hasn't teed off yet, but it looks like the same
- 10:48Speaker 1: leaderboard we saw last week at Pebble Beach. Quite frankly,
- 10:52Speaker 1: all right, we'll take a break, we'll come back. We're
- 10:54Speaker 1: going to hear from Bucky and Moore after this. For
- 10:57Speaker 1: Chad Jones Law.
- 11:00Speaker 6: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt, and so
- 11:03Speaker 6: do injuries from car recks. But you didn't sign up
- 11:05Speaker 6: to being a car wreck with someone who wasn't paying attention.
- 11:08Speaker 6: It was their fault and now you're left to deal
- 11:10Speaker 6: with the consequences. You need to see a doctor and
- 11:12Speaker 6: you're missing work. Chad Jones Law can help. We've been
- 11:15Speaker 6: helping our neighbors for more than two decades. Stop getting
- 11:18Speaker 6: frustrated with the other side's foot dragging. Remember, don't get mad.
- 11:21Speaker 6: Get Chad. Call Chad Jones Law at ninety seven nine
- 11:24Speaker 6: five to ninety five five thousand, or go on line
- 11:27Speaker 6: to Chad Jones Law dot com. Digit you're wrong.
- 11:30Speaker 7: From Bomberham previously from Paul Flying Bomb Show.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I used running restaurant nine the Burger An had
- 11:36Speaker 1: been there for fifty years.
- 11:37Speaker 5: Jimmy George, Obviously you did pretty well.
- 11:39Speaker 4: You met a good life out of years at whatever
- 11:41Speaker 4: you've done.
- 11:42Speaker 8: Yeah, well I did.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I could tell you, but it had taken another hour.
- 11:45Speaker 5: May tell you.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Okay, Well, well we're only here for four hours, so
- 11:48Speaker 4: we better run. Thanks for the call. Let's check in
- 11:50Speaker 4: with Ervan.
- 11:50Speaker 6: Next The Paul Fine Bomb Show, Piwaight by Polari's Fund
- 11:54Speaker 6: Center two to four weekdays on the Zone.
- 11:59Speaker 9: Take this job and shovy, I ain't working a woman
- 12:06Speaker 9: dun limb and took all the reasons I want it.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Spoiler alert. I've already told you the US women won gold.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I'm assuming they're gonna replace some of that game tonight.
- 12:22Speaker 1: You need to watch it.
- 12:23Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you one more, one more spoiler alert.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Jordan Stoltz, the speed skater that wins all the gold medals,
- 12:33Speaker 1: he didn't win today. He finished second to a Chinaman
- 12:37Speaker 1: fifteen meters competition. He had to settle for the silver.
- 12:43Speaker 1: That sucks. We don't like silver, we like gold. We've
- 12:51Speaker 1: got a high school report coming up. We are going
- 12:55Speaker 1: to hear from Ole Miss coach Chris Beard. We're going
- 12:58Speaker 1: to hear from Marcus Hill and Zach Clements coming up.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Last night, Ried Arena, I gotta tell you, I thought
- 13:12Speaker 1: for three quarters of that game it was a little
- 13:16Speaker 1: more than half full. I mean, the crowd was decent,
- 13:18Speaker 1: the corps was there, the students gave a little jump,
- 13:21Speaker 1: little Jews to the building, but they didn't have a
- 13:23Speaker 1: lot to cheer about for a lot of the game.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I just I said to myself, you know, Saturday, I
- 13:30Speaker 1: told you they were tired. They were, and Rashawn ag
- 13:33Speaker 1: looks still looks tired. I gotta tell you, you know,
- 13:38Speaker 1: he plays really hard. It looks like his legs are
- 13:44Speaker 1: still not underneath him, frankly, And I'm saying that after
- 13:48Speaker 1: he got seventeen and ten, right, But I said, man,
- 13:55Speaker 1: I think this team may have lost its confidence now.
- 13:58Speaker 1: When the ball's not going in the hole, you don't
- 14:01Speaker 1: look like a very good basketball team. In the first half,
- 14:05Speaker 1: they were eleven for thirty one. They were two of
- 14:09Speaker 1: eleven from three pointer. They weren't tons better in the
- 14:14Speaker 1: second half, but they were better. They didn't shoot nearly
- 14:17Speaker 1: as many threes last night. They were three for nine
- 14:22Speaker 1: in the second half. That's thirty three percent for the game.
- 14:26Speaker 1: They did shoot forty eight percent. They went in a
- 14:29Speaker 1: lot ole miss shot fifty two percent for the game.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Malik Dia could be a pro. I'm not going to
- 14:39Speaker 1: say he is a pro, but he could be. He's
- 14:42Speaker 1: been very inconsistent, but apparently the NBA likes him because
- 14:48Speaker 1: you can't coach size. You know, Ryland Griffin is still
- 14:56Speaker 1: in a funk pop Isaac's has not been great the
- 15:02Speaker 1: last few games. He only got less than sixteen minutes
- 15:08Speaker 1: playing time. Last night, Ryland Griffin had six points. He
- 15:13Speaker 1: was two for six from three, only took one other
- 15:16Speaker 1: shot from there, had a couple of turnovers and ANM
- 15:23Speaker 1: was minus two in the turnovers. But they were plus
- 15:28Speaker 1: twelve offensive rebounding the basketball. They had eighteen second chance points.
- 15:35Speaker 1: That was good. But listen to this stat this is
- 15:40Speaker 1: bucky ball we're talking about. Ole Miss had twenty three
- 15:45Speaker 1: fast breakpoints. Okay, twenty three fast breakpoints. How many fast
- 15:51Speaker 1: breakpoints do you think? A and M had none?
- 15:55Speaker 10: Not a zip.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Zilch and only one more point in binge scoring than
- 16:05Speaker 1: ole Miss. So it wasn't pretty. It didn't have to
- 16:09Speaker 1: be pretty. You just had to find a way to win.
- 16:13Speaker 1: I mean that was And we're gonna hear from Bucket
- 16:16Speaker 1: here in just a minute, and he finally owned up
- 16:20Speaker 1: to it.
- 16:20Speaker 3: It's like.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I didn't want to say it, but this was a
- 16:24Speaker 1: must win game. I'm going yeah, it was.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:28Speaker 1: If you want to go to the tournament after the
- 16:31Speaker 1: season's must win game. But like we said all week,
- 16:34Speaker 1: if we would have been thinking that this far into
- 16:38Speaker 1: the season, that thirteen games in the conference play, that
- 16:43Speaker 1: we would be talking about A and M going to
- 16:45Speaker 1: the tournament, we would have said, sign you know, sign
- 16:50Speaker 1: me up, absolutely, sign me up. Now every game here
- 16:56Speaker 1: on is a big game that includes at Oklahoma. You
- 17:02Speaker 1: got to win these quad three games, right, they're going
- 17:08Speaker 1: to go to Arkansas. Arkansas is injured right now. Last night,
- 17:13Speaker 1: by the way, let me just say that that Arkansas
- 17:18Speaker 1: Alabama game, it was a lot like the Alabama A
- 17:22Speaker 1: and M game, only more so over two overtimes. Darius Acoff,
- 17:28Speaker 1: who is just he's unreal. He had forty nine last night,
- 17:35Speaker 1: forty nine but twice missed in regulation and in second
- 17:40Speaker 1: overtime potential game winning shots. What a game that was
- 17:45Speaker 1: to watch? All right, let's hear from Bucky postgames.
- 17:49Speaker 11: Away and I feel like they say, tournament just started,
- 17:52Speaker 11: you know, But anyway about the game, incredible win. I
- 17:56Speaker 11: know we could say whatever, hey, we could have shot
- 17:58Speaker 11: it better, finished better, all that, but our fight was there.
- 18:03Speaker 11: I told our players that was more than anything about
- 18:06Speaker 11: who they are as people.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Because we were down by ten. You're kind of looking up.
- 18:09Speaker 11: There are enough possessions in this game to uh, to
- 18:13Speaker 11: to win this thing, and our guys really, you know,
- 18:18Speaker 11: a lot of times in that spot you'll see some
- 18:19Speaker 11: some some players afraid to stick their neck out because
- 18:22Speaker 11: they head may get chopped off, right, because they don't
- 18:25Speaker 11: want to be the guy to cost yourself the game.
- 18:27Speaker 11: And I think our guys all knew the implications of
- 18:29Speaker 11: that game, you know, I think they all knew that
- 18:32Speaker 11: we needed to we needed to win that game or
- 18:35Speaker 11: put put ourselves in a tough situation. And you saw
- 18:39Speaker 11: some guys out there playing to win the game. You
- 18:40Speaker 11: didn't see anybody playing not to lose the game. And
- 18:43Speaker 11: that's what it took. I thought Old Miss played great,
- 18:46Speaker 11: really really good. Obviously did was amazing, and a store
- 18:49Speaker 11: was great. They made some made some tough shots in
- 18:52Speaker 11: the game, and uh, obviously we didn't shoot our high
- 18:55Speaker 11: percentage from three, but kept hanging around on the game,
- 18:58Speaker 11: and I think, uh, I think it will remember this
- 19:01Speaker 11: game is one of the key wins in our season.
- 19:06Speaker 12: How I'm trying to think of the right description, which
- 19:09Speaker 12: is just how appropriate was it that that last nine
- 19:13Speaker 12: over run.
- 19:14Speaker 11: To win got started with Ruben finally hit, you know,
- 19:17Speaker 11: hitting at three.
- 19:18Speaker 4: He's been struggling. And then you know, you guys like
- 19:20Speaker 4: Clements and and uh Rashaan has.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Done it for you all year.
- 19:25Speaker 11: Yeah yeah, I mean you know I mentioned this, and
- 19:28Speaker 11: this is one thing we all got to remember because
- 19:30Speaker 11: people to ask about Ruben you head and shot it. Well,
- 19:33Speaker 11: you gotta remember against A season is a long season.
- 19:36Speaker 3: It's a long season.
- 19:38Speaker 11: And if I told y'all that Ruben, we have a
- 19:42Speaker 11: guy on our team that's gonna shoot forty one and
- 19:44Speaker 11: a half percent, three would be one of the top
- 19:45Speaker 11: three point shooters in the country.
- 19:47Speaker 3: What we say.
- 19:48Speaker 11: We wouldn't say, well, he missed some of the last
- 19:50Speaker 11: couple of games. What if we said, before SEC play
- 19:53Speaker 11: we'd have nine wins with we got your five games
- 19:56Speaker 11: to play.
- 19:58Speaker 3: What would we say. We'd say, oh, really, you know
- 20:02Speaker 3: we got five games to play?
- 20:03Speaker 4: That right?
- 20:05Speaker 3: Eight was five? Sorry, eight went with five to play.
- 20:08Speaker 3: This guy, I always got to do that to me
- 20:10Speaker 3: to play. Sorry, But what would we say.
- 20:12Speaker 11: We'd say, we got a great opportunity in front of us,
- 20:14Speaker 11: you know what I'm saying. And so all those guys
- 20:17Speaker 11: who the course of the season have played a played
- 20:19Speaker 11: great basketball, Sean and Ruben, and we're gonna ride with them.
- 20:22Speaker 13: What did you see from your defense there down the
- 20:24Speaker 13: stretch where you guys were finally able to string some
- 20:27Speaker 13: stops together.
- 20:28Speaker 11: Well, you know, it's interesting because with about fourteen thirteen minutes, like, guys,
- 20:34Speaker 11: everybody needs to calm down in here. When we came
- 20:36Speaker 11: out the half, weren't we weren't supposed to be trapping
- 20:38Speaker 11: spiffly picking up garden hard and we missed some shots
- 20:42Speaker 11: and we had a couple just guys kind of go
- 20:44Speaker 11: rogue a little bit and trap and give it a
- 20:45Speaker 11: couple of points there.
- 20:46Speaker 3: We weren't even supposed to be right there. We turned
- 20:48Speaker 3: it back up and one of those were Seawan trapped
- 20:50Speaker 3: in the corner.
- 20:51Speaker 11: That was a call that was on me. But we
- 20:54Speaker 11: we had to tell our guys, there's plenty of time
- 20:56Speaker 11: left in this game. And I think that in some
- 20:58Speaker 11: of these games we feel we tried to hit that
- 21:00Speaker 11: home run play. We'll be down by six with four
- 21:04Speaker 11: minutes left, and we feel we got to go steal
- 21:05Speaker 11: it right there. And so we saw a lot more
- 21:08Speaker 11: discipline on defense to say, hey man, listen, just place
- 21:11Speaker 11: solid in these spots.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Okay, we're going to deny them up there. We may
- 21:15Speaker 3: get a turnover, and we did.
- 21:16Speaker 11: We got a couple up there that were key turnovers,
- 21:17Speaker 11: ten second calls, but we were solid getting stops. The
- 21:21Speaker 11: game was won in that game though, Guys and Girls
- 21:24Speaker 11: was offensive rebound and won the game. Our challenge for
- 21:27Speaker 11: this game was keep the ball, but you can do
- 21:29Speaker 11: out of the paint. We didn't do the best job
- 21:30Speaker 11: of that, even though they made some. They made some
- 21:31Speaker 11: tough ones. Tony really hard on that pressure because we
- 21:34Speaker 11: thought it'd takes toll late hopefully on them, you know,
- 21:36Speaker 11: them having to work. And then if you're not crashing
- 21:38Speaker 11: the offense glus, you're coming out, you're coming out of game.
- 21:40Speaker 11: And we had sixteen extra opportunities, which was a twelve
- 21:44Speaker 11: more than they had.
- 21:45Speaker 3: That was a huge deal in the game. We don't
- 21:46Speaker 3: win it without that.
- 21:47Speaker 4: No bigger offensive rebound.
- 21:49Speaker 3: I guess that last one was Josh.
- 21:52Speaker 11: Was a Josh you got yeah, Yeah, it was Josh
- 21:54Speaker 11: was out. Yep, that's right, and that was good. Now
- 21:57Speaker 11: we're in a real dilemma there because we had that
- 22:00Speaker 11: this is.
- 22:00Speaker 3: A wild pilot game unfolded.
- 22:03Speaker 11: We were sitting there late and you say, all can
- 22:05Speaker 11: see the coach's minded. You know, see I'm put you
- 22:07Speaker 11: in my crazy mind here. So we're sitting there when
- 22:09Speaker 11: we're getting these stops and we have time outs, but yeah,
- 22:13Speaker 11: they have their small lineup on the floor for our offense,
- 22:15Speaker 11: and we got Ruben and Zach out there. So we're
- 22:18Speaker 11: sitting there, like, do we burn a time out to
- 22:20Speaker 11: set something up or do we keep letting them play
- 22:22Speaker 11: because we have a size advantage to go to Ruben
- 22:24Speaker 11: and Zach and to 're Shawn and Zach right here,
- 22:27Speaker 11: And so is that back and forth the possession before last,
- 22:30Speaker 11: we decided not call it, throw it inside.
- 22:31Speaker 3: They double.
- 22:32Speaker 11: We got a good look from Ali, but it was
- 22:34Speaker 11: a really tough decision there. You know, I'm not sure
- 22:36Speaker 11: which ones are right when there's really really close one
- 22:39Speaker 11: to end the game.
- 22:40Speaker 3: We went zoned there late. We just said we're not
- 22:42Speaker 3: gonna let Store beat us.
- 22:43Speaker 11: We're not gonna let score at the realm now, because
- 22:45Speaker 11: I'm sure I get asked this question at Auburn. We
- 22:47Speaker 11: missed the free throw after we miss our first one
- 22:50Speaker 11: right to we could have tied the game up to
- 22:53Speaker 11: make it a.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Three point game.
- 22:55Speaker 11: We decided to miss the free throw down there in
- 22:56Speaker 11: Auburn in that situation, why we had four first started
- 22:59Speaker 11: or four players clearly fed with four thousand on them,
- 23:02Speaker 11: they had all the momentum. We're gonna have to go
- 23:03Speaker 11: win on the road in overtime. I thought the chances
- 23:06Speaker 11: of all of them were very, very low. I didn't
- 23:08Speaker 11: think there's ay way we're gonna lose that game and overtime.
- 23:10Speaker 11: I think there's anyway we're gonna lose that game and
- 23:11Speaker 11: over time. So we told Sean, make them if they
- 23:13Speaker 11: make it through, beat them in overtime. So now that
- 23:16Speaker 11: you ask, I'm just telling.
- 23:18Speaker 14: On Tuesday, he talks a little bit of Now, just
- 23:20Speaker 14: kind of getting at any point in this at this
- 23:23Speaker 14: time this season, there'd be a lot of fatigue set
- 23:24Speaker 14: in the way that they played. Did your team play
- 23:27Speaker 14: defense the end? Is that encourage you that they can
- 23:30Speaker 14: find that that extra gear when they need it.
- 23:32Speaker 11: Look, look, I thought that we were we were really
- 23:34Speaker 11: strong late. Now, both teams shot a very high percentage
- 23:37Speaker 11: from the field in the second half. They shot fifty five,
- 23:39Speaker 11: we shot sixty one. You know, but I swear I
- 23:41Speaker 11: felt we looked fresh. I felt good if we were
- 23:43Speaker 11: going to overtime, you know, I thought we're getting there
- 23:45Speaker 11: at will obviously. You know, they had some some of
- 23:48Speaker 11: their guys play a lot of minutes in that game.
- 23:51Speaker 11: We were pretty rounded, where Sean looked tired out there
- 23:53Speaker 11: at times. But we don't win that game unless we
- 23:56Speaker 11: just give an incredible effort. You know, Vanderbilt was our
- 23:59Speaker 11: worst effort game, and I'm gonna put it on me.
- 24:01Speaker 11: I didn't do a good job getting the recovery right
- 24:03Speaker 11: for them. I mean, they're coming to me in the
- 24:04Speaker 11: first four minutes again, like I can't fill my legs.
- 24:06Speaker 11: You know, I complained, just like coach, I need this up.
- 24:08Speaker 11: And I've never seen Rasean like that. Rashaan was tired
- 24:10Speaker 11: at some point to night. But we had we had fight,
- 24:13Speaker 11: and we had energy to us, right, we had energy
- 24:16Speaker 11: to us even when we're missing a lot of those
- 24:17Speaker 11: shots around the realm.
- 24:18Speaker 3: We kept kept fighting.
- 24:20Speaker 14: You know, first half not a great shooting procession of three.
- 24:24Speaker 14: Was it a concerted effort to kind of try to
- 24:26Speaker 14: get it into the paint in the second half or
- 24:28Speaker 14: was that just kind of was open because a lot
- 24:29Speaker 14: of points for Lambs.
- 24:31Speaker 11: Well, they were switching a lot, so we had to
- 24:32Speaker 11: exploit that when they switched by going inside with it
- 24:35Speaker 11: on their switches. Old mister, what they do they take
- 24:39Speaker 11: away the rim. They're they're like us, They're not the
- 24:41Speaker 11: tallest team. We know that, so they try to really
- 24:42Speaker 11: take away the rim. Make you make threes usually. I'm
- 24:45Speaker 11: happy with that. We didn't shoot it as well as
- 24:47Speaker 11: we normally do tonight. We didn't finish as well as
- 24:49Speaker 11: we do, but they do a good job taking away
- 24:52Speaker 11: the taking away the rim. We had to exploit their
- 24:54Speaker 11: switches by you can explore them two ways, which is
- 24:57Speaker 11: clear out, give space at the top so the guards
- 24:59Speaker 11: can create. And we had a couple of possessions like
- 25:01Speaker 11: that or throw it to the mismatch down low and
- 25:04Speaker 11: our guys took what was there, and I thought that's
- 25:06Speaker 11: where Zach and ra Sean had some good buckets and
- 25:08Speaker 11: we had some good offense rebounds because we were big
- 25:10Speaker 11: on small on the rebound.
- 25:11Speaker 15: You guys were down by as munch as thirteen and
- 25:14Speaker 15: it seems like y'all couldn't get it to within six
- 25:17Speaker 15: until like five or six minutes left for the longest time.
- 25:20Speaker 15: Did you ever kind of lose confidence and what do
- 25:22Speaker 15: you think maybe flips ultimately.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Kind of in that stretch.
- 25:26Speaker 11: We could not score coming out in some parts coming
- 25:28Speaker 11: out the half of when we'd cut into it, Like
- 25:30Speaker 11: we kind of cut into it and we miss a bunny,
- 25:31Speaker 11: you know what I'm saying. And you get in this
- 25:34Speaker 11: weird game where you're trying to figure out this score
- 25:38Speaker 11: and what's called for on defense? How aggressive do we
- 25:40Speaker 11: get on defense? Do we need to change the game
- 25:41Speaker 11: on defense? How comfortable were they? We couldn't take them
- 25:44Speaker 11: out of their comfort zone either way, Like if we
- 25:48Speaker 11: pressed them, they were getting in some layups. If we
- 25:50Speaker 11: didn't trap them, they just rock us down late in
- 25:52Speaker 11: the clock, and they felt very comfortable throughout that deal.
- 25:54Speaker 11: If we went zone, we'd lose a rotation. So I
- 25:57Speaker 11: was just saying, guys, we are going to score enough point,
- 26:00Speaker 11: but we got to find a way to get stops
- 26:01Speaker 11: in this game and it can't be them racking us
- 26:04Speaker 11: over and over. When we started to get some stops
- 26:06Speaker 11: in that game, I knew we'd be able to score
- 26:09Speaker 11: the ball because I thought that we had them in
- 26:10Speaker 11: a good spot.
- 26:11Speaker 3: I thought our guys were pretty fresh there.
- 26:12Speaker 4: We score late. What do you see from Zach?
- 26:15Speaker 8: I mean, this is the guy who you know didn't
- 26:17Speaker 8: really play much of Kansas and now in critical possessions
- 26:20Speaker 8: down stretcher going to him for key buckets and he's
- 26:23Speaker 8: averaging over fourteen a game these last three games.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Is this what you envisioned or more when you.
- 26:28Speaker 16: Brought him in?
- 26:29Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean he's only going to keep improving. I
- 26:31Speaker 11: think he fits how we play because he can shoot
- 26:33Speaker 11: it and stretch the defense. Zach has just if y'all
- 26:38Speaker 11: get the interview, like y'all get to talk to him.
- 26:40Speaker 11: I mean he's just playing man like. He's not overthinking
- 26:43Speaker 11: this one, you know what I'm saying. And so that's
- 26:45Speaker 11: just how he how he is. Like I love Za
- 26:47Speaker 11: Clemics one of the funny exac Clements' story Mitch Cole's wife.
- 26:51Speaker 11: He has an incredible game, Like three or four games ago,
- 26:53Speaker 11: Mitch Cole like said that would you for breakfast?
- 26:56Speaker 3: Said Bacon didn't realize, like a rhetorical question. You know,
- 27:03Speaker 3: that's what you love about him. And he's just floating along,
- 27:05Speaker 3: you know. But he's powerful.
- 27:08Speaker 11: He's confident right now and obviously he's playing good ball.
- 27:11Speaker 11: He's plus twenty on the stat sheet and think about that.
- 27:14Speaker 11: I mean we won by three. He plays twenty four minutes.
- 27:17Speaker 11: He's plus twenty on the stat sheet. Josh Holloway was great.
- 27:20Speaker 3: In the game. He had eighteen minutes in the game.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Josh has been up and down.
- 27:24Speaker 11: I mean I had a good talk with Josh yesterday
- 27:26Speaker 11: and today, Like, dude, with us two minutes, three minutes.
- 27:29Speaker 11: If you want to keep getting minutes, you got to
- 27:31Speaker 11: do what the game is called for.
- 27:32Speaker 3: He was one of the most dominant players in the game.
- 27:34Speaker 11: He played eighteen minutes and it was a ten point advantage,
- 27:37Speaker 11: huge ten second call out there, like massive game changing
- 27:40Speaker 11: ten second call and really ran the show really well.
- 27:45Speaker 4: What does what does a win like this just do
- 27:47Speaker 4: for overall morale?
- 27:48Speaker 13: Psyche as you guys hit this home stretch of regular season.
- 27:52Speaker 11: Look, I think we can look back at that win
- 27:54Speaker 11: as a season defining moment.
- 27:57Speaker 3: I really believe that, Like that's why you watch sports.
- 28:01Speaker 11: I was more proud of that when if we came
- 28:02Speaker 11: out there and we mad eight threes in that game
- 28:04Speaker 11: and you know, we end up winning that by more points,
- 28:07Speaker 11: ended up winning that by fifteen, I really was.
- 28:10Speaker 3: I'm more proud of that. That was a season defining moment.
- 28:12Speaker 11: Of people watch sports. Why do people watch sports, And
- 28:15Speaker 11: why are people up there watching sports. I may not
- 28:16Speaker 11: even know the rules of basketball, because sports is like
- 28:21Speaker 11: it's a simulation of how life is like when you
- 28:23Speaker 11: think you're down and out, things aren't going your way.
- 28:25Speaker 11: Who's gonna purse or who's going to keep fighting? What
- 28:28Speaker 11: kind of human emotions can stay the course? And you
- 28:31Speaker 11: know you've seen our team earlier in the year we
- 28:33Speaker 11: didn't have that. They stayed with it in a massive moment.
- 28:36Speaker 11: People were gonna say, well, oh, mister, have a great grecd.
- 28:38Speaker 11: I don't care, I don't mean nothing to me. Those
- 28:39Speaker 11: guys played great tonight and they've been in every single
- 28:42Speaker 11: game right right there to beat teams.
- 28:44Speaker 3: So they won that Georgia.
- 28:46Speaker 11: I promise you that team was the Sweet sixteen team
- 28:48Speaker 11: last year with players that were on that team. Like
- 28:51Speaker 11: when a team plays well in your league, just like
- 28:53Speaker 11: you know Oklahoma going in there being a tough Vanderbilt team,
- 28:57Speaker 11: you know you'll look up and LSU's right there at
- 28:59Speaker 11: Texas could won the game last night.
- 29:01Speaker 3: When teams played well in your league, in the SEC
- 29:03Speaker 3: with pros in it, true, you're in for a night.
- 29:07Speaker 11: So that that was a great, great win and the
- 29:09Speaker 11: season to find a moment for our group because it
- 29:12Speaker 11: was a hate to say it, so someone said it.
- 29:15Speaker 11: I never told our guys is, but I'm gonna tell
- 29:17Speaker 11: you the truth. That was a must win game. That
- 29:21Speaker 11: was a must win game, you know, and our guys
- 29:23Speaker 11: came through.
- 29:24Speaker 4: How working was Marcus's proponents in the first half.
- 29:27Speaker 13: He's shooting well, and maybe the team as a whole
- 29:29Speaker 13: isn't well.
- 29:30Speaker 3: You know, Marcus always gonna be ready to hoop. He
- 29:32Speaker 3: loved the hoop. It was a couple of times he
- 29:33Speaker 3: got drove in there and kicked it out, you know,
- 29:35Speaker 3: but he's always ready to go. He looks fresh. You know,
- 29:41Speaker 3: he's a competitor.
- 29:42Speaker 11: You know, he's one of these guys that you can
- 29:44Speaker 11: win or lose with because you know he's not going
- 29:46Speaker 11: to know show you like, he's not gonna show up
- 29:48Speaker 11: to the game and be like I didn't feel like
- 29:49Speaker 11: playing today. And you know, at the end of the game.
- 29:52Speaker 11: I've always said this most of the time, at the
- 29:55Speaker 11: end of the game, you know, born a tactical situation
- 29:58Speaker 11: like us going two three zone, you really want to
- 30:00Speaker 11: get your best competitors in the game. It's not eve
- 30:02Speaker 11: gonna have to do with like players sometimes like who
- 30:04Speaker 11: are your best competitors? Like, look, ra, Sean could go
- 30:06Speaker 11: for twenty one night, but then the game of Sean's
- 30:07Speaker 11: gonna be the game because its a great competitor. Marcus
- 30:09Speaker 11: is a great competitor. And that's that's the guys that
- 30:12Speaker 11: you won the game.
- 30:13Speaker 14: Coach, it seems like ole Miss has found a way
- 30:16Speaker 14: to beat the full court press, and there's some adjustments
- 30:18Speaker 14: that need to be fixed.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Before I got to see the numbers.
- 30:21Speaker 11: The numbers can be very deceiving on it sometimes, like
- 30:24Speaker 11: I'd have to go look at it. You know, we're
- 30:26Speaker 11: not worried about beating, Like I'm not concerned like do
- 30:30Speaker 11: they beat the press, it's when they attack it. Do
- 30:32Speaker 11: they turn turn it over when they attack it? Like
- 30:34Speaker 11: for example, let me give you this example. All right,
- 30:37Speaker 11: Let's say that they go they attack and shoot on conteste, layup.
- 30:39Speaker 11: Then the next time they come down and they have
- 30:40Speaker 11: a ten second call. Well, or the next time they
- 30:43Speaker 11: come down there and they miss a shot on a
- 30:44Speaker 11: two on one, it feels like you're getting killed. That's
- 30:46Speaker 11: one point in possession, and it's like that's good, right,
- 30:49Speaker 11: So I got to go look at the numbers. How
- 30:51Speaker 11: it impacted the game, but teams and stuff. They're going
- 30:53Speaker 11: to break the press at times. But it's just like,
- 30:57Speaker 11: what's the cumulative total wear down effect of it?
- 30:59Speaker 3: And then how does that help our offense?
- 31:02Speaker 11: Are they worn down where they're cross match or they
- 31:04Speaker 11: worn down where we can keep attacking.
- 31:06Speaker 3: I don't know. I'll well look at the numbers that
- 31:07Speaker 3: they may have kicked our butt tonight.
- 31:08Speaker 11: I know halftime they did not when I looked at halftime,
- 31:12Speaker 11: and or we may have been a positive.
- 31:14Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 31:15Speaker 11: But I think that's probably one of the most misunderstood
- 31:18Speaker 11: areas of basketball that.
- 31:20Speaker 3: I'm not saying you.
- 31:21Speaker 11: I'm just saying in general that people have a whole
- 31:23Speaker 11: tough time evaluating unless you dive deep into the analytics.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Hey, that was a relieved Bucky McMillan after the game
- 31:30Speaker 1: last night. We're gonna hear from Chris Beard, Marcus Hill

- 35:17Speaker 22: Litton coach. Thanks for joining me, Yeah, thanks for having
- 35:19Speaker 22: me all. Katle Yes, sir, baseball season is upon us.
- 35:23Speaker 22: Your Cougar's getting the season kicked off in full swing
- 35:26Speaker 22: this weekend at the tournament that you host here locally
- 35:29Speaker 22: in College Station. So what have your thoughts been from first,
- 35:33Speaker 22: you know, a month of practice. Who are some of
- 35:35Speaker 22: the newcomers that have showed up and stepped up for you?
- 35:39Speaker 5: First? And foremost, I think, you know, we just got
- 35:42Speaker 5: brand new surf facilities that our community passing a bond
- 35:47Speaker 5: back over about a year ago, almost a year ago,
- 35:50Speaker 5: and it's really changed a lot of things that we do.
- 35:54Speaker 5: And I'll tell you what, man, these kids come out
- 35:56Speaker 5: here every day and it's a party. They enjoy it,
- 35:59Speaker 5: They have a there's always smiles on their faces. And
- 36:03Speaker 5: the amount of work that we're getting done on these
- 36:04Speaker 5: fields compared to what we were dealing with in the
- 36:07Speaker 5: past is just astronomicaling through the roof. So kind of
- 36:10Speaker 5: off of that, our players, our senior class, extremely talented.
- 36:17Speaker 5: You know, we bring back some experience and spots that
- 36:20Speaker 5: being our number one from last year, Ace and Jake
- 36:25Speaker 5: bogging on the mount. We threw over fifty innings for
- 36:28Speaker 5: us last year.
- 36:29Speaker 4: Jake's just.
- 36:31Speaker 5: He pitches with his hair on fire, hoops around everywhere,
- 36:35Speaker 5: and gives everybody else on the field that sense of
- 36:40Speaker 5: he's in control. We also bring back our number two
- 36:44Speaker 5: in innings Guy and puts really well for us in
- 36:48Speaker 5: spots last year. And Miles Simpson who's a younger underclassman. Miles,
- 36:53Speaker 5: you know, he's just a sophomore and he's been up
- 36:57Speaker 5: to you know, ninety ninety one and really commends two
- 37:02Speaker 5: to three pitches in his own does a great job
- 37:05Speaker 5: for us. So we got our one two punch coming back.
- 37:08Speaker 5: That's big, you know. And our leader who was our
- 37:12Speaker 5: leader on the football field in the fall as a
- 37:15Speaker 5: quarterback and now gets the showcases talent out here at
- 37:19Speaker 5: shortstop for us and Keaton Johnson. Keating is just an
- 37:24Speaker 5: all around just great leader. He brings positivity and extreme
- 37:30Speaker 5: excitement excitement to the game. He's always uplifting his teammates.
- 37:35Speaker 5: He can, he can hold him accountable, but do it
- 37:38Speaker 5: in a positive light because the guy's next to him
- 37:42Speaker 5: know that there's nobody that's gonna outwork him, so they
- 37:45Speaker 5: respect him and his his leadership abilities have gone through
- 37:50Speaker 5: the roof. And you know, he he was kind of
- 37:54Speaker 5: under the wing of Kate Corkoran for the past couple
- 37:57Speaker 5: of years on the baseball field as well as on
- 37:59Speaker 5: the football field. So he got to he got to
- 38:01Speaker 5: sit and learn and wait his turn. And so his
- 38:03Speaker 5: turn down, he's taking full advantage of it and grabbing
- 38:06Speaker 5: the steering wheel on this bus and he's steering it.
- 38:09Speaker 5: You know, we bring back our first baseman Zeke Bullard.
- 38:12Speaker 5: You know, Zeke's a big bopper from the left handed side.
- 38:15Speaker 5: He's he's signed to go play at ut s A.
- 38:19Speaker 5: You know, he's he's very talented and he hits it.
- 38:23Speaker 5: He hits it really hard. And I think that one
- 38:26Speaker 5: of the most proudest things I am Zeke is you know,
- 38:29Speaker 5: he's really come out of his shell this year and
- 38:32Speaker 5: it's just having a blast playing the game and keeping
- 38:35Speaker 5: the guys loose around him. You know, some some of
- 38:38Speaker 5: my other senior leadership that you're gonna see out on
- 38:40Speaker 5: the field. We got Blaze Singer out in center field.
- 38:42Speaker 5: Blaze didn't get to play with us last year due
- 38:45Speaker 5: to a hand injury, but he's fully healed out and
- 38:48Speaker 5: enjoying what he loves to do. He brings a lot
- 38:51Speaker 5: of athleticism to to our lineup right now. At third base,
- 38:56Speaker 5: Jacob Navarro has really shown out, you know, early on
- 39:00Speaker 5: with just this his mentality. You know, if I'm if
- 39:02Speaker 5: I'm in a fight, I want that guy on my side.
- 39:04Speaker 5: Another big bat from a senior and Brett bash him,
- 39:08Speaker 5: you know, he's he's just he just hammers balls. You know,
- 39:11Speaker 5: I don't know, you know Brett, but his dad Lance.
- 39:15Speaker 5: He kind of is the GM out there at the lab.
- 39:17Speaker 5: So Brett's grown up with the bat in his hand
- 39:20Speaker 5: on a daily basis, and his skill, his back to
- 39:23Speaker 5: ball skills, plus his pop and his power and just
- 39:26Speaker 5: knowledge of the game is superior. So excited to see
- 39:30Speaker 5: you know that, senior have fun. We got some underclassmen
- 39:33Speaker 5: in spots right now. You know, we've we've got basically
- 39:37Speaker 5: we've got four really good or five really good infielders
- 39:41Speaker 5: playing for three spots. Moving on into the outfield, we
- 39:45Speaker 5: got Lennon Hawkinson, who's super talented, left handed stick you know,
- 39:51Speaker 5: can play anywhere in the outfield, and uh, he's been
- 39:55Speaker 5: playing a lot of left field, making great plays out
- 39:57Speaker 5: there for us early on. I got a whole lieu
- 40:00Speaker 5: of right fielders and they're they're gonna there's gonna be
- 40:04Speaker 5: some battles out there.
- 40:05Speaker 3: Uh.
- 40:06Speaker 5: One senior I haven't mentioned with Tyler Manfield, probably the best,
- 40:10Speaker 5: the most athletic kid I've ever coached. He's definitely the fastest.
- 40:15Speaker 5: So you know, if Tyler gets on a basis, I'll
- 40:18Speaker 5: give you a scouting port right now, he's probably going
- 40:19Speaker 5: and you're probably not gonna throw him out he's electric
- 40:22Speaker 5: on the mound. He was up to we had him
- 40:24Speaker 5: up to ninety two five. Uh in the fall. You know,
- 40:27Speaker 5: our our outfields just loaded, like we got three spots.
- 40:31Speaker 5: And those dudes are they're gonna compete. They're gonna it's
- 40:34Speaker 5: a lot of healthy competition. They do it on a
- 40:35Speaker 5: daily basis and they love each other. Did mention you
- 40:38Speaker 5: know the freshman catcher, you know him and bred are
- 40:41Speaker 5: are gonna compete through tournament season, you know for that uh,
- 40:44Speaker 5: for that catcher's role. But you know Landon Atkinson, he's uh,
- 40:48Speaker 5: he's really stepped up and showed some some really good
- 40:52Speaker 5: energy behind the plate with with very very obviously a
- 40:56Speaker 5: lot of talent if he's up on the varsity as
- 40:58Speaker 5: a freshman as a catcher. To see him grow, excited
- 41:01Speaker 5: to see his season as well.
- 41:02Speaker 22: And this weekend with the tournament here in College Station,
- 41:07Speaker 22: y'all get started at nine am Friday morning. So what
- 41:10Speaker 22: are your thoughts heading into this tournament.
- 41:11Speaker 5: We used to run this tournament like back whenever we
- 41:14Speaker 5: first open, and you used to be a pretty big
- 41:16Speaker 5: tournament between us, Brian and Rudder in Knsault. You know,
- 41:22Speaker 5: obviously our field conditions got worse over time, and the
- 41:25Speaker 5: other people got turf around us, that tournament dwindled on us,
- 41:29Speaker 5: and so we ended up getting rid of it. I
- 41:30Speaker 5: think four years ago. As soon as we found out
- 41:33Speaker 5: we were getting turf, I'm going to have it this year.
- 41:35Speaker 5: You know, me and coach Leonerton got together and we
- 41:38Speaker 5: got on the horn and we started calling all the
- 41:40Speaker 5: schools around the state that we wanted to come to
- 41:43Speaker 5: this tournament, and man, we piled them up. There's there's
- 41:47Speaker 5: gonna be some high caliber games this weekend. You know,
- 41:50Speaker 5: we got two pools. The pools are split up between
- 41:54Speaker 5: US and Kasaul's Field on Thursday and Friday, and then
- 41:56Speaker 5: we're gonna seed it out and play a one game
- 41:59Speaker 5: seated on Saturday for everybody, play for a little something,
- 42:03Speaker 5: put something on the line. You know, we're looking forward
- 42:05Speaker 5: to to watch some really good baseball early on.
- 42:08Speaker 22: Well, it sounds like it's gonna be a great way
- 42:10Speaker 22: to get the years started for you all. Last thing
- 42:13Speaker 22: for you here after last season unfortunately getting knocked out
- 42:17Speaker 22: in the first round of the playoffs, what are your
- 42:20Speaker 22: goals for this year?
- 42:21Speaker 5: You know last year that team's goal was to get
- 42:24Speaker 5: back in the playoffs. We missed the playoffs the previous
- 42:28Speaker 5: two seasons before that, you know, the season two years ago,
- 42:34Speaker 5: we ended up going into the last week of district play.
- 42:36Speaker 5: If we win two games for the district camps. If
- 42:39Speaker 5: we lose two games, we're tied tied for fourth and
- 42:42Speaker 5: having a playing game. And we lost both games, played
- 42:45Speaker 5: Maguest and got beat out in the playing game, and
- 42:47Speaker 5: then all four of those teams met up in the
- 42:49Speaker 5: third round, and then the three and four seed met
- 42:53Speaker 5: up in the regional finals. You know, so they that
- 42:58Speaker 5: was a tough pill to swallow. And then you know,
- 43:02Speaker 5: all those kids being juniors because we had a big
- 43:04Speaker 5: senior class last year. Man, they stuck it out, hung
- 43:07Speaker 5: together and and found a way and fought and got
- 43:10Speaker 5: in and at the end of it, you know, we
- 43:12Speaker 5: got beat in the first round. You know, Crosby just
- 43:15Speaker 5: got hot and things went their way and they didn't
- 43:18Speaker 5: go our way. And that's the game sometimes. But those
- 43:20Speaker 5: kids were truly amazing and kind of led into this
- 43:25Speaker 5: year's mindset of you know, our guys are, hey, coach,
- 43:29Speaker 5: you know, we don't want to just make the playoffs,
- 43:31Speaker 5: like we want to make a run, just like you know,
- 43:33Speaker 5: anything else. We talk like anything that we're doing, it's
- 43:37Speaker 5: just one play at a time, you know, and it's
- 43:40Speaker 5: one rep out of time. So when we're at practice
- 43:43Speaker 5: and we're getting after it like it's it's full go
- 43:48Speaker 5: just one rep out of time and just continue to
- 43:50Speaker 5: take that mentality and don't take plays off because there's
- 43:55Speaker 5: a there's probably two hundred and forty plays in the game,
- 43:59Speaker 5: and of those two hundred and forty plays, whoever wins,
- 44:02Speaker 5: the majority of them got a pretty good chance of
- 44:04Speaker 5: winning that game. So I think that's just kind of
- 44:07Speaker 5: the mentality that this group has is you know, they're
- 44:10Speaker 5: gonna be tough because they're gonna play in a moment,
- 44:14Speaker 5: and they're also they're also going to be very knowledgeable
- 44:17Speaker 5: because they're very diligent and they work really hard to
- 44:21Speaker 5: be good at the little things in the game. You know.
- 44:23Speaker 5: I think that with that head of steam, there's no
- 44:26Speaker 5: doubt about it. There's gonna be bumps. We know that
- 44:28Speaker 5: they know that that's part of competition. But I think
- 44:31Speaker 5: just the mentality of taking it one play at a time,
- 44:34Speaker 5: and you know, with with the expectations of making a run,
- 44:38Speaker 5: we'll see what happens.
- 44:39Speaker 3: All right.
- 44:39Speaker 22: Coach, Well, I appreciate your time today and good luck
- 44:42Speaker 22: this season.
- 44:42Speaker 5: All right, Caleb, I appreciate you calling man.

- 48:18Speaker 7: Boy for his own newsletter, Win to win my thousand.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Dollars, Welcome back, Glad to have you with us. We've
- 48:37Speaker 1: got women's basketball at five point fifteen, so an abbreviated
- 48:40Speaker 1: Clark Eisenhower Outdoor edition coming up at five. But it
- 48:45Speaker 1: is packed with some goodies, so be sure and stay
- 48:47Speaker 1: tuned for that. I heard last night on the on
- 48:52Speaker 1: the broadcast of the basketball game when I was watching it,
- 48:57Speaker 1: Chris Beard had never had a losing season. I guess
- 49:02Speaker 1: he still has a chance to get to five hundred.
- 49:05Speaker 1: I think they are four games under right now. He
- 49:09Speaker 1: almost added another one last night, thirteen point lead halfway
- 49:15Speaker 1: through the second half, couldn't hold it. Here is Chris
- 49:20Speaker 1: Beard with the media after the game.
- 49:23Speaker 16: Congratulate Texas A and M on a much needed home win.
- 49:28Speaker 16: Obviously what they're playing for right now in my opinion,
- 49:32Speaker 16: kind of a must win. Just my opinion. We felt
- 49:35Speaker 16: the same way. Must win for us as is every
- 49:38Speaker 16: game the rest of the season. Really good response by
- 49:42Speaker 16: our team. Last time we played we did not have
- 49:45Speaker 16: a good effort, just didn't play well. In tonight, I
- 49:48Speaker 16: thought in a lot of ways we outplayed the opponent,
- 49:51Speaker 16: probably deserving of winning the game. Last shot goes in,
- 49:55Speaker 16: you know, completely different mood in both locker rooms, but
- 49:59Speaker 16: that's basketball. Well. I thought the difference in the game
- 50:02Speaker 16: was Texas A and M's offensive rebounds, their ability to
- 50:07Speaker 16: manufacture extra possessions and get some A zone shots off
- 50:11Speaker 16: of boards, and so that was really kind of difference
- 50:14Speaker 16: in the game. But proud of our team, our players.
- 50:18Speaker 16: I thought we really responded from our last game out
- 50:21Speaker 16: and played one of our better games of the year.
- 50:24Speaker 16: And again congratulate Texas A and M on a game
- 50:26Speaker 16: I know they had to win.
- 50:28Speaker 11: Shot really well in most of the second halfter at
- 50:30Speaker 11: the end though thick up as four or three points.
- 50:32Speaker 3: We all get any shots I wanted or do you
- 50:34Speaker 3: think you guys maybe more so.
- 50:37Speaker 16: Yeah, for the most part, I know Travis got a
- 50:39Speaker 16: good wide open look, had the courage to take that
- 50:41Speaker 16: shot that would have been a big one.
- 50:44Speaker 3: You know, I agree.
- 50:44Speaker 16: I think our three point shot to night for the
- 50:47Speaker 16: most part was really good shot selection, just fortune didn't
- 50:50Speaker 16: go our way. Shoot a little bit better percentage, and
- 50:53Speaker 16: you know it's a different press conference right now. Last
- 50:56Speaker 16: play of the game, you know it's an open look
- 51:00Speaker 16: to win the game. I thought the guys did a
- 51:04Speaker 16: decent job executing the last play. It's bought didn't go
- 51:07Speaker 16: in force.
- 51:08Speaker 13: Could you tell what happened to the league down the
- 51:10Speaker 13: stretch and just how much of a how much did
- 51:12Speaker 13: y'all miss his presence in those last.
- 51:13Speaker 4: Couple of minutes.
- 51:15Speaker 3: I don't know what happened to Malik.
- 51:17Speaker 16: I saw him laying on the floor and then a
- 51:20Speaker 16: few minutes later he was ready to go back in
- 51:22Speaker 16: the game.
- 51:24Speaker 3: That's a big play too.
- 51:26Speaker 16: You know, it's basically a five on four break, and
- 51:29Speaker 16: if I'm not mistaken, they hit a three point shot.
- 51:34Speaker 16: I think the officials called it correctly. It's my understanding
- 51:36Speaker 16: that if a guy's head hits the floor, they can
- 51:39Speaker 16: stop even a fast break. If it's not head on
- 51:43Speaker 16: the floor, then they gotta let it play and credit
- 51:46Speaker 16: Texas A and M. If they pull it out there
- 51:48Speaker 16: and they look for a set player or something, the
- 51:50Speaker 16: reps can stop it. But as long as they attack,
- 51:53Speaker 16: so really smart players or maybe just a really well
- 51:57Speaker 16: coached team. That was a smart play by them to
- 52:00Speaker 16: take advantage of the five and four break when we
- 52:02Speaker 16: had some misfortune of da laying on the floor.
- 52:07Speaker 14: The first half, they didn't shoot, but they normally shoot,
- 52:10Speaker 14: especially from distance, did a lot of layups and the
- 52:12Speaker 14: points of the ring in the second half. Did you
- 52:13Speaker 14: feel like they were going to shift and try to
- 52:15Speaker 14: work more of the inside game in the.
- 52:17Speaker 16: Second half, Yeah, we knew it was coming.
- 52:19Speaker 3: Bucky does good job.
- 52:20Speaker 16: Well coached team exploited our switch a little bit with mismatches.
- 52:25Speaker 16: From our point of view, we had some fouls to
- 52:27Speaker 16: give throughout the second half that we didn't execute the
- 52:30Speaker 16: game plan. But credit them. Thought they did a good
- 52:33Speaker 16: job exploiting some mismatches. And again the difference in the
- 52:36Speaker 16: game is offensive rebounding for them. And so you know,
- 52:41Speaker 16: the reason we're not in a little bit better mood
- 52:43Speaker 16: right now is we're one.
- 52:44Speaker 3: Or two blockouts away. But credit them.
- 52:46Speaker 16: The reason why I'm sure they have a pleasant locker
- 52:49Speaker 16: room right now is their players manufactured some azone shots
- 52:53Speaker 16: and some extra possessions by offensive rebounding the ball.
- 52:56Speaker 1: All Right, that's the ole miss coach, and we're gonna
- 53:02Speaker 1: hear from Marcus Hill and Zach Clements. They each had
- 53:08Speaker 1: fourteen last night. Rashaun ag seventeen and ten, and Ruben
- 53:17Speaker 1: Domingus showed up. I said, I thought if he hit
- 53:21Speaker 1: two three pointers, A and M would win. He hit
- 53:25Speaker 1: two three pointers, ended up with thirteen points. Also had
- 53:31Speaker 1: four rebounds and five assists. So it was good to
- 53:37Speaker 1: see him back. Big deal having him back. Marcus Hill's
- 53:46Speaker 1: been really good. He had zero turnovers to go with
- 53:53Speaker 1: his fourteen points last night, and he is amazing in
- 53:57Speaker 1: the paint among all the big guys. Clements has been
- 54:01Speaker 1: playing well offensively. He had fourteen points, had four boards,
- 54:07Speaker 1: a couple of steals. Still needs to be stronger, missed
- 54:12Speaker 1: a lot around the basket. Then the Aggies had a
- 54:16Speaker 1: hard time finishing around the basket last night. They have
- 54:21Speaker 1: got to do better there. Here is Marcus Hill and
- 54:27Speaker 1: Zach Clements.
- 54:28Speaker 13: Afterward, Zach, what are you most proud of your team
- 54:32Speaker 13: being able to have some resilience to come back and
- 54:35Speaker 13: win that game?
- 54:36Speaker 4: Grinding?
- 54:37Speaker 23: No, I think we led how many times twice in
- 54:39Speaker 23: that game or something like that. We wasn't too many
- 54:41Speaker 23: times a week down the whole game, we fought back,
- 54:44Speaker 23: showed that we had heart. I mean, it's that's all
- 54:46Speaker 23: you can ask for.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Marcus from your point of view, what does the win
- 54:49Speaker 1: link that do for your team?
- 54:50Speaker 4: And kind of echoed the same sentiment as it felt
- 54:54Speaker 4: so good.
- 54:54Speaker 24: You know, he was down mostly the whole game, and
- 54:57Speaker 24: we just kept talking to each other. I feel like
- 55:00Speaker 24: us us talking to each other really was helping.
- 55:02Speaker 3: So I really liked it.
- 55:03Speaker 14: Yeah, that was the second half a lot of points
- 55:06Speaker 14: off of layups? How much at a half time? Was
- 55:08Speaker 14: there a concerted shift maybe we would ball from the
- 55:10Speaker 14: outside to the end inside.
- 55:13Speaker 4: I mean we just you know, it was just look
- 55:15Speaker 4: through the paint.
- 55:16Speaker 23: I mean, that's that's the main main goal first, and
- 55:19Speaker 23: then if we can get kickouts, we can.
- 55:20Speaker 4: It just is what it is.
- 55:22Speaker 23: But we started getting some layups down down there late,
- 55:25Speaker 23: so we just went with it.
- 55:27Speaker 15: Zach, when do were down thirteen and it seems like
- 55:30Speaker 15: for a while YA couldn't get it back then like
- 55:31Speaker 15: two schools. What was kind of going through your mind
- 55:34Speaker 15: at that time and what do you think ultimately flipped
- 55:37Speaker 15: it when you all were finally kind of able.
- 55:38Speaker 6: To break through.
- 55:40Speaker 23: I think as a squad. I think we knew we
- 55:41Speaker 23: were gonna win this game. I just it was tough. Obviously,
- 55:44Speaker 23: I was probably nervous. They're all probably nervous too, But
- 55:47Speaker 23: I thought we had it. I think it was just
- 55:49Speaker 23: confidence from this week in practice and doing what we do.
- 55:53Speaker 4: So I think, I mean it was good.
- 55:55Speaker 15: Sure, Sorry, that's just the final like four minutes.
- 55:58Speaker 4: They went scoreless in the last three thirty two.
- 56:01Speaker 15: What defensively do you think you guys were able to
- 56:03Speaker 15: accomplish to.
- 56:04Speaker 23: Keep on We just locked in. It's just it's just
- 56:07Speaker 23: one of those things you got to do. I mean,
- 56:09Speaker 23: no rebounds, like we tried to get everything. It was
- 56:11Speaker 23: just one of the things we wanted it more, that's all.
- 56:13Speaker 4: Zach Coach Baverard just said, you know, this was a
- 56:15Speaker 4: must win games for you guys. Do you guys think
- 56:17Speaker 4: that as well? I mean yeah, I mean I think
- 56:20Speaker 4: every game is.
- 56:21Speaker 23: I don't know who'd want to, you know, lose, but
- 56:24Speaker 23: uh yeah, no, I mean yeah, we're going into every
- 56:27Speaker 23: game trying to win.
- 56:27Speaker 13: So for the struggles that Rubns had lately, just how
- 56:31Speaker 13: good was it for you guys to see him come
- 56:34Speaker 13: up with some big buckets down stretch and maybe how
- 56:36Speaker 13: much did those three pointers do for you guys.
- 56:38Speaker 4: In that run.
- 56:41Speaker 24: I feel like it helped a lot, especially you know
- 56:43Speaker 24: with Zach and Sean and Paint they had to guard
- 56:46Speaker 24: him so and I'm happy for him. You know, he
- 56:48Speaker 24: been to gym a lot, so like I'm happy for
- 56:50Speaker 24: it to see the go through the fun.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Twelve two run in the final four minutes, nine in
- 56:55Speaker 1: the final two and some change.
- 56:57Speaker 4: What allowed you guys to be successful at the end
- 56:58Speaker 4: of the game yet, I think just grinding it out,
- 57:01Speaker 4: locking in. We've been talking about that all week. We
- 57:04Speaker 4: get in these games. You know, we got some some
- 57:07Speaker 4: errors here and there, but we made a decision this
- 57:09Speaker 4: game to really lock in.
- 57:10Speaker 14: It's like, you're plus twenty in this game. Do you
- 57:12Speaker 14: feel like, does stats say this was your best defensive game?
- 57:16Speaker 5: I mean.
- 57:17Speaker 23: I looked at it. That's pretty good, but I mean, yeah,
- 57:20Speaker 23: I always could do better. I think it's just a
- 57:23Speaker 23: stepping stone. Yeah, for sure, get better. What kind of
- 57:28Speaker 23: happened when you drew that foul?
- 57:29Speaker 4: And just how's the knee doing? I was doing all right,
- 57:32Speaker 4: it'll be fine. A little banged that too?
- 57:35Speaker 15: Crazy, Marcus, how you feeling I saw early in the half.
- 57:38Speaker 4: It seemed like you got to shake up a little bit,
- 57:40Speaker 4: but kept going through. I got to do it now.
- 57:43Speaker 24: Oh yeah, he jumped on my ankle. It was hurting,
- 57:46Speaker 24: But once I started playing like went away, I generally
- 57:48Speaker 24: kicked in.
- 57:50Speaker 17: One of the things Coach Beard said was he thought
- 57:54Speaker 17: Adam the offensive rebound for a huge part of that
- 57:56Speaker 17: kind of what do you'll think about your performance on
- 57:59Speaker 17: it last tonight?
- 58:00Speaker 4: You're just like, like, go back to it.
- 58:01Speaker 23: I just want to do We're just gonna lock in
- 58:02Speaker 23: this game. We needed it and we just wanted it more.
- 58:06Speaker 23: That's all it came down to. We wanted to ball
- 58:08Speaker 23: more than they did. So, I mean, you can say whatever,
- 58:10Speaker 23: but that's just what it was.
