- 1:07Speaker 6: Well, you know, I'd like to think I don't have
- 1:09Speaker 6: all the answers to everything, so perhaps, but I've never
- 1:13Speaker 6: encountered one.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Let's just say that that's.
- 1:15Speaker 2: A good answer. I like that answer.
- 1:16Speaker 3: I don't know everything, but I haven't encountered it, so
- 1:20Speaker 3: mild skepticism. Let me ask you one more question because
- 1:28Speaker 3: I guarantee this is going to be a no. Maybe
- 1:32Speaker 3: I'm wrong. You don't strike me as a sweet sky.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Are you into Halloween candies? Like the leftovers that aren't
- 1:39Speaker 3: given out to the kids? Do you partake?
- 1:41Speaker 4: I do not? That's it? Yeah?
- 1:45Speaker 3: Wait, are you like Xavier legged? Hey, let me before
- 1:47Speaker 3: we get to bron because I know it's a big weekend.
- 1:49Speaker 3: But let me play this from Xavier Legate. He's the
- 1:51Speaker 3: rookie wide out for the Panthers. They're going to Germany
- 1:54Speaker 3: in a couple of weeks, and he's concerned about the food.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Listen, food, how they got that?
- 2:01Speaker 4: They have good chocolate?
- 2:05Speaker 2: But what is your what are your though?
- 2:06Speaker 4: You say you're a picky.
- 2:07Speaker 6: Eating what are your those?
- 2:08Speaker 4: I don't eat seafood. I don't eat like pepples and
- 2:12Speaker 4: onions and all there.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I don't really eat vegetables like people like pizza.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Yeah, like I just study eating this.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Greeese eat like stream maids and green peas to.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Be cooked in baton?
- 2:28Speaker 4: Grees do they have to be cooked in bacon?
- 2:29Speaker 1: Grease?
- 2:31Speaker 2: That pasta.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I eat some pa.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Chicken steak regular.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm.
- 2:42Speaker 2: All right, listen, like that sounds I guess that sounds
- 2:46Speaker 2: like a leggy diet.
- 2:47Speaker 3: It's chicken in steak and some pasta, but not a
- 2:50Speaker 3: lot of veggies, onions, peppers?
- 2:53Speaker 2: Am I close?
- 2:55Speaker 4: No?
- 2:56Speaker 3: No?
- 2:57Speaker 4: But that's all right? So what is it?
- 2:59Speaker 2: What's the goat to?
- 3:00Speaker 1: Then?
- 3:01Speaker 4: I eat food? Like everybody know what are we doing?
- 3:04Speaker 4: All right?
- 3:04Speaker 2: All right to the Broncos. Okay, huge weekend, like you're huge.
- 3:08Speaker 2: You see, he doesn't like it when you try and
- 3:10Speaker 2: get personal. I should have known that. That's my bad.
- 3:12Speaker 2: That's my bad.
- 3:16Speaker 4: I just though I'm not all that interesting, I would
- 3:18Speaker 4: agree with you.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't have to sell me on that fact.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Brother, I'm in an empty media room. This is my
- 3:25Speaker 4: life and in there. All right.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Uh so this weekend, agree or disagree with this statement,
- 3:33Speaker 3: I'll make I think the Broncos this is uh, there's
- 3:37Speaker 3: a real opportunity that they they lose by a lot,
- 3:40Speaker 3: that the Ravens could get them pretty good, but they
- 3:43Speaker 3: should keep the game within striking distance.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Is that accurate?
- 3:47Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 3:47Speaker 6: I mean only Jacksonville, and I'm trying to think of
- 3:51Speaker 6: who else, and the Raiders have given up more points
- 3:56Speaker 6: in the AFC. So, I mean Baltimore scores a ton.
- 4:00Speaker 6: I mean that their offense is just amazing, but they
- 4:04Speaker 6: surrender more big plays than everybody else does in the league.
- 4:08Speaker 6: They're you know, they're last in past defense because everybody's
- 4:11Speaker 6: losing by three scores and they have to throw all
- 4:15Speaker 6: the time. But they give up a ton of big plays.
- 4:18Speaker 6: They've given up a ton of points. This is not
- 4:20Speaker 6: really the Ravens defense we've grown accustomed to. So if
- 4:25Speaker 6: you can somehow manage their offense, which is really tough, yeah,
- 4:32Speaker 6: you can hang in and you know teams have this year,
- 4:35Speaker 6: but eventually, you know, Lamar and Derrick Henry they just
- 4:39Speaker 6: keep leaning on you and then you make a mistake
- 4:43Speaker 6: on defense. You don't fill a run fit, you get
- 4:47Speaker 6: greedy and you chase Lamar, you know, for a sack
- 4:49Speaker 6: instead of keeping them in the pocket. You know, all
- 4:52Speaker 6: those things turned into a huge play. They you know,
- 4:57Speaker 6: their big plays aren't eleven yards big players are you know,
- 5:01Speaker 6: eighty five And that's kind of where they're at. But again,
- 5:05Speaker 6: they give up a ton of points. So if the
- 5:08Speaker 6: Broncos defense can sort of manage themselves and hang in that.
- 5:12Speaker 4: I think they could. They could do some things.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Jeff, I've argued that this is the first real, gigantic
- 5:18Speaker 1: litmus test for this Broncos team because I I suppose
- 5:22Speaker 1: maybe I'm crazy, but I have a ton of respect
- 5:24Speaker 1: for Baltimore. I mean, I love Lamar Jackson, I love
- 5:27Speaker 1: Derrick Henry. Their offensive line is gigantic, They've got a
- 5:31Speaker 1: stud tied end. They have a lot of things going
- 5:33Speaker 1: for them. But Bodenicks needs games like this. If he's
- 5:37Speaker 1: going to be the Broncos quarterback for the next ten years,
- 5:39Speaker 1: he's gonna find himself in a boatload of games like this,
- 5:42Speaker 1: important games for the franchise. How do you view this
- 5:46Speaker 1: test against Baltimore and that young quarterback taking that next step?
- 5:51Speaker 6: Well, I mean it's you know, it's cool for them
- 5:55Speaker 6: in the locker room to be five and three. It's
- 5:57Speaker 6: been a while, you know, since this team's been able
- 5:59Speaker 6: to do that. But truth be told, you know, they've
- 6:02Speaker 6: they've beaten three two and six teams and won one
- 6:06Speaker 6: in seventeen, so it's not like they've you know, if
- 6:10Speaker 6: they had not had the NFC South this year on
- 6:13Speaker 6: the cross division, you know, on the schedule, I'm not
- 6:18Speaker 6: sure we would be talking about a five and three
- 6:20Speaker 6: team right now. But you know, they don't have to
- 6:22Speaker 6: apologize for that. But this is the first game against
- 6:27Speaker 6: somebody who believes they will be in the playoff conversation,
- 6:32Speaker 6: you know, come January. So yeah, I think. And it's
- 6:36Speaker 6: on the road. You know, that's been a while since
- 6:38Speaker 6: they've won a big game on the road that mattered,
- 6:42Speaker 6: that that the game still mattered, you know, a few
- 6:46Speaker 6: weeks after they won it. They've won some road games
- 6:48Speaker 6: that in the moment were cool, but you know, a
- 6:52Speaker 6: few weeks later, because of what happened, they didn't matter anymore.
- 6:56Speaker 6: So this is the first real you know, two weeks
- 6:59Speaker 6: in a row. You know, you get at Baltimore at KC,
- 7:03Speaker 6: you're gonna find out an awful lot about what you
- 7:05Speaker 6: really are at this moment.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:07Speaker 3: The encouraging thing despite the teams that they've beaten, they've
- 7:11Speaker 3: beaten them in the way the good teams should beat
- 7:13Speaker 3: those bad teams, which is no doubters, like you're just
- 7:15Speaker 3: counting down the clock at the end of the fourth quarter.
- 7:17Speaker 2: The big thing here is, I mean you mentioned it.
- 7:21Speaker 2: The Ravens surrender a.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Whole bunch of yards and a whole bunch of points,
- 7:24Speaker 3: and they do most of that through the air. I
- 7:25Speaker 3: believe they're the number one run defense in the league.
- 7:29Speaker 2: This is a.
- 7:30Speaker 6: Huge So everyone asked the surrender and they lose them
- 7:32Speaker 6: by fourteen, you know, in the second quarter.
- 7:35Speaker 2: So yeah, and that's what I'm getting at.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Like this for maybe the first time in which the Broncos,
- 7:41Speaker 3: let's say they win on Sunday, it's going to have
- 7:44Speaker 3: to be because bo Nicks wins them a football game,
- 7:47Speaker 3: right Like, he's gonna have to play a huge hand.
- 7:50Speaker 6: He's throwing interceptions in three games, they've lost all three,
- 7:53Speaker 6: So I mean that turnovers are you know, he's still
- 7:58Speaker 6: one of the worst starters in the league putting the
- 8:00Speaker 6: ball down the field. This completion percentage overall is one
- 8:04Speaker 6: of the worst.
- 8:04Speaker 4: In the league.
- 8:06Speaker 6: But what he has done which a lot of rookies
- 8:09Speaker 6: don't do, which is do not turn the ball over.
- 8:12Speaker 6: You know, they've traded safety for turnovers, and that's worked
- 8:17Speaker 6: against bad teams. But at some point they're gonna have
- 8:20Speaker 6: to find a happy medium of at least some risk taking.
- 8:24Speaker 6: But they don't get crazy, you know, sideways in the
- 8:28Speaker 6: turnover margin, because again he's thrown picks in three games
- 8:31Speaker 6: and they lost all three, and he looked unsettled in
- 8:34Speaker 6: all three because I think, like a lot of young guys,
- 8:37Speaker 6: if he makes a mistake early in the game, it
- 8:39Speaker 6: takes him a quarter or so to get himself out
- 8:43Speaker 6: of it. I think we've seen that. You know, the
- 8:45Speaker 6: weather and you know against the Jets early in the
- 8:49Speaker 6: game had him all out of sorts on the sideline,
- 8:53Speaker 6: you know, until the rain let up a little bit.
- 8:56Speaker 6: So he's you know, like a lot of young players,
- 8:59Speaker 6: you know, he's got he plays with that emotion after mistakes,
- 9:03Speaker 6: and he's got to avoid those early. And again, you know,
- 9:06Speaker 6: especially in these road venues, Baltimore is a tough place
- 9:10Speaker 6: to play. You know, everybody knows Arrowhead is a tough
- 9:13Speaker 6: place to play. You can't make that early mistake and
- 9:16Speaker 6: give them a short feel.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Jeff, Again, I may be in the wrong here, you
- 9:21Speaker 1: know more than me, but I just think Baltimore is
- 9:23Speaker 1: really good. And now they're a game back of Pittsburgh,
- 9:27Speaker 1: so the urgency factor is going to be there, and
- 9:29Speaker 1: they're coming off that dumb loss. That's all that makes
- 9:32Speaker 1: sense to you is that does that feel like it's
- 9:35Speaker 1: a little trupidation or am I am I overstating it?
- 9:39Speaker 4: If your quarterback's going for his third MVP, you're good.
- 9:42Speaker 4: I mean, that's just it. You know that.
- 9:44Speaker 6: That's kind of the universal sign if you're any good.
- 9:47Speaker 6: If your quarterback's going for his third MVP award, and
- 9:50Speaker 6: right now he'd probably win it if the vote was taken.
- 9:55Speaker 6: But Derrick Henry's taken them to another place on offense.
- 9:59Speaker 6: It's it's an unbelievable addition, and they don't need They
- 10:04Speaker 6: sort of, you know, spice him in early in the
- 10:07Speaker 6: game and then they just drop the hammer on you,
- 10:10Speaker 6: you know, when they feel like they've got you a
- 10:13Speaker 6: little wobbly. Suddenly he's getting ten carries in a row
- 10:17Speaker 6: and I've only seen one carry in the games I've
- 10:21Speaker 6: looked at where he's sort of, you know, the defense
- 10:25Speaker 6: has imposed something on him. They went forward on a
- 10:29Speaker 6: fourth down in the red zone last week and they
- 10:32Speaker 6: had a direct snap to Henry and he lost two
- 10:34Speaker 6: yards and just been the only carry I think I've
- 10:37Speaker 6: seen so far where he didn't mash somebody and go
- 10:40Speaker 6: for like eighteen.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Well, Jeff, I'm also enamored with him, and I always
- 10:44Speaker 1: have been. You know, we come from a time when
- 10:46Speaker 1: the league was full of great running backs in different kinds,
- 10:49Speaker 1: right tailbacks and and very soon.
- 10:52Speaker 4: But this guy rare, rare, this.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Guy, Oh my god, and I love to watch him
- 10:58Speaker 1: play the game. I don't know why I'm so in
- 11:00Speaker 1: or with him. I guess I just end because he's
- 11:02Speaker 1: such an anomaly.
- 11:04Speaker 6: We you know, in scouting parlance, you've got a big
- 11:08Speaker 6: back with long speed. I mean when he gets to
- 11:10Speaker 6: the sideline, he just chews up the angle. You know,
- 11:13Speaker 6: he runs back, he runs past corners, he runs past guys,
- 11:17Speaker 6: he outweighs by forty pounds. I mean, it's you know,
- 11:20Speaker 6: it's he's in an once he gets that momentum, he's
- 11:24Speaker 6: got that long stride. He looks like he's not even
- 11:27Speaker 6: really moving, and suddenly no one catches him.
- 11:29Speaker 3: A couple of quick ones here, Legi Jeff Lakewall at
- 11:32Speaker 3: ESPN dot com with us, Uh, we're almost midway through
- 11:35Speaker 3: the year offensive MVP so far as who.
- 11:39Speaker 4: It's hard for me to get away from Lamar.
- 11:42Speaker 5: There's just no Broncos. Broncos offensive MVP. You know that's
- 11:46Speaker 5: a that's a tough one. They haven't been great on offense,
- 11:50Speaker 5: you know, really, you know, I guess i'd say, you know,
- 11:54Speaker 5: pick a guard. Those are the guys who are playing
- 11:57Speaker 5: the best.
- 11:57Speaker 6: And I know that's not you know, sexy and all that,
- 11:59Speaker 6: but those guys are playing at an elite level, both
- 12:03Speaker 6: minors and ben powers in the in the heavy analytics world. Ah,
- 12:10Speaker 6: they're They're one of the best guards in the league,
- 12:13Speaker 6: both of them at both win rate in run game
- 12:15Speaker 6: and pass protection. So that's that's a rare thing to
- 12:19Speaker 6: have both your guys in the in the top you
- 12:21Speaker 6: know tier of those groupings. You know, you got to
- 12:25Speaker 6: give bo Nix a lot of credit. They threw him
- 12:27Speaker 6: in the deep end of the pool.
- 12:29Speaker 4: Uh, and we've seen it, you know, the growing pains.
- 12:33Speaker 6: Again, this is a very low impact offense right now,
- 12:37Speaker 6: and he is struggling to be accurate, you know, beyond
- 12:41Speaker 6: ten yards. It's tough for him right now. But you know,
- 12:46Speaker 6: I like the way he's managed things and you know,
- 12:49Speaker 6: the running component.
- 12:50Speaker 4: But I think one of those linemen to me is
- 12:52Speaker 4: the MVP.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Uh.
- 12:53Speaker 3: And then finally, speaking of accuracy, Anthony Richardson in his
- 12:58Speaker 3: second year, but he had any starts his rookie year
- 13:01Speaker 3: two has been benched for the season.
- 13:03Speaker 2: It looks like for Joe Flacco, did he get benched?
- 13:07Speaker 3: What percentage of that was him tapping out of the game,
- 13:10Speaker 3: And what percentage is that he's completing forty four percent
- 13:14Speaker 3: of his passes this year?
- 13:15Speaker 6: Well, forty four pretty epic. Yeah, you know, that's that's
- 13:19Speaker 6: that's tebolesque, you know around here.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Actually worse than Tbo. Tibo was forty six.
- 13:24Speaker 6: Forty six and that was a struggle. You know that
- 13:28Speaker 6: the game in Kansas City will always ring in my mind.
- 13:31Speaker 6: When he was at one completion it was for a
- 13:33Speaker 6: touchdown basically. But anyway, Uh, I'd say fifty percent tapping
- 13:38Speaker 6: out for quarterback is is a big deal. And uh
- 13:42Speaker 6: he's a young guy. And I you know, I give
- 13:44Speaker 6: the kid credit. He was honest, he owned it, you know,
- 13:48Speaker 6: and I give him tons of credit for that because
- 13:50Speaker 6: a lot of people wouldn't have.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Uh.
- 13:54Speaker 6: But I I think if I was the head coach,
- 13:56Speaker 6: I had to call the time out and just stop
- 13:58Speaker 6: the game and told him get back in and you know,
- 14:01Speaker 6: do your thing. But anyway, I think it was an
- 14:04Speaker 6: awful big deal. And the forty four percent is you know,
- 14:08Speaker 6: he's been basically big plays or nothing. This year, his
- 14:12Speaker 6: yards per attempt and yards for completion are huge. Yeah,
- 14:17Speaker 6: but you hadn't hit very many of them.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Jeff Lakewell the ESPN dot comy joins us every single Thursday.
- 14:21Speaker 3: I always appreciate it, Leggy, Thank you, buddy.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Thanks to get back to work now.

- 14:28Speaker 2: the ghost get.
