- 0:22Speaker 2: because card it was some dodgy little payment made and
- 0:26Speaker 2: they went, oh, that doesn't look legit, and so they.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Shut it down because they do a little one first
- 0:31Speaker 3: to see if it works, and then they'll do a
- 0:33Speaker 3: really big one.
- 0:33Speaker 4: I bet it was your daughter.
- 0:35Speaker 2: No, what was it? What was the Well, we don't know.
- 0:38Speaker 2: It's not showing up on the transaction right, Yeah.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Where did it come from? Like another country?
- 0:43Speaker 2: I don't know. But anyway, she's not happy.
- 0:46Speaker 4: I didn't try a little one. I'd try a big
- 0:48Speaker 4: one because if you only get one, you know what
- 0:51Speaker 4: I mean.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:53Speaker 3: What happened to my mate was they had one from
- 0:56Speaker 3: a small transaction that was disguised as like hell pizza
- 0:59Speaker 3: or something, but it wasn't. And then two of those
- 1:02Speaker 3: went through no worries, and then all of a sudden,
- 1:04Speaker 3: like a couple of grand went missing.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Right, and I had one. I had it once. So
- 1:08Speaker 4: I got had like three or four things, and one
- 1:09Speaker 4: of them was about eight hundred bucks worth of tulips
- 1:12Speaker 4: in the Netherlands. Yeah, I don't remember that. You've got
- 1:16Speaker 4: that strange.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Family, because I had that one from then was from Amsterdam. Uber. Yeah,
- 1:23Speaker 2: the Uber thing. I said, I'd fucking go and Uber
- 1:25Speaker 2: and Amsterdam. What's that about?
- 1:27Speaker 3: But it comes up as Uber Amsterdam for everybody, for everyone.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it was just.
- 1:32Speaker 4: That your daughter had your Uber account was absolutely plundering it.
- 1:36Speaker 2: But there you go. Little scams. You've got to keep
- 1:41Speaker 2: your eye out for.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Them, your eyes field, That's what I always say.
- 1:45Speaker 2: But it looks like the bank had their eyes peeled
- 1:47Speaker 2: on this occasion, so it must which tells me it
- 1:50Speaker 2: must be something that's happening to a few people and
- 1:52Speaker 2: they recognized it. And when ah, that's that scam, you
- 1:56Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 1:57Speaker 3: I was quite worried. I was like, oh God, one
- 1:58Speaker 3: of my parents are across this, you know. But then
- 2:01Speaker 3: I spoke to them about it, and Dad literally operates
- 2:03Speaker 3: with care. She's so old fashioned. And mom is the
- 2:06Speaker 3: only one that does all the accounting stuff, and her
- 2:09Speaker 3: job is to teach all the people at this law firm.
- 2:11Speaker 3: She walks works out about scams. Right, So I'm like
- 2:14Speaker 3: that's fine. Yeah, yeah, Dad's not on the ground. She's smart, so.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right. She was
- 2:22Speaker 2: on to it.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Man, Fuck I hate account do you yeah? Accounts accounte
- 2:28Speaker 4: Oh right, yeah, yeah, you know what I mean.
- 2:30Speaker 3: It can be quite satisfying, to be fair, don't go
- 2:33Speaker 3: for your personal sh Yeah, just a small scale. Yeah,
- 2:35Speaker 3: you're satisfying.
- 2:36Speaker 4: But we'll go to the business. And my wife wants
- 2:40Speaker 4: me to be across to everything. But I don't give
- 2:42Speaker 4: a fuck. Sure, I don't want to. I don't need
- 2:45Speaker 4: to know every little thing. I want to know big picture,
- 2:49Speaker 4: but not not like, hey, have you got no fucking
- 2:53Speaker 4: GST number? It's surely we can get someone else to
- 2:55Speaker 4: do that.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Sure.
- 2:56Speaker 4: I fucking hate it.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:58Speaker 4: So you've got to know this stuff you got, it's
- 3:00Speaker 4: your business. That's I don't need to know that. I don't.
- 3:02Speaker 2: It's not very sexy either, is it as dull as funcking?
- 3:06Speaker 4: My brain just turns off. Yes, Yes, So I told
- 3:09Speaker 4: you about this. I was like, you're going to have
- 3:10Speaker 4: to keep telling me and I'll just pretend that I'm remembering,
- 3:12Speaker 4: but I'm not. I'm throwing it in the bin as
- 3:14Speaker 4: soon as you hell me I'm gonna be honest.
- 3:16Speaker 2: When I when I first met my accountant and he
- 3:18Speaker 2: started rabbiting, and still to this day, you know, to stay.
- 3:26Speaker 2: He starts talking to me about stuff and he'll go, oh,
- 3:29Speaker 2: now are you doing this because this would be a
- 3:31Speaker 2: good thing for you to do, and I just immediately
- 3:32Speaker 2: switch off.
- 3:33Speaker 4: It's like that home a Simpson thing where he's getting
- 3:35Speaker 4: told something really important and it comes to inside there's
- 3:41Speaker 4: a bird on a swing and another one playing in accordia.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Yes, but did you do that thing when you when
- 3:49Speaker 3: you talked to your accountants in person?
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yes, well you know off and over the phone.
- 3:54Speaker 3: I was gonna say, because you do that thing where
- 3:55Speaker 3: he's talking to you and then you'll just turn around
- 3:58Speaker 3: physically just look another.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Great the old time, Well you do it. Yeah, you
- 4:05Speaker 4: do it here as well. Right, So it's either turn
- 4:06Speaker 4: around you or in a meeting and then you just
- 4:10Speaker 4: walk away like yesterday, okay, we're all good and walked off.
- 4:13Speaker 4: It's like, no, we're not. Your patients running out and
- 4:18Speaker 4: the timing of your patient's running out and a meeting
- 4:21Speaker 4: ending and exactly that right time. It's never going to
- 4:23Speaker 4: line up.
- 4:26Speaker 2: It's a very limited period of time before I lose
- 4:31Speaker 2: all interest.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Even just then with because what eight people on stage,
- 4:35Speaker 3: eight people in the b studio.
- 4:36Speaker 2: And I and I'll be honest with you, really honest
- 4:39Speaker 2: with you. As soon as I saw that many people,
- 4:41Speaker 2: I immediately shut down. I immediately went out, fuck that ship.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Especially because you know as well that they are advertising people. Yes,
- 4:48Speaker 3: and by the way, it was great, they were all great.
- 4:49Speaker 3: We did it was excellent.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Yeah, nothing against them personally.
- 4:53Speaker 3: But there's so many situations where there's just all these
- 4:55Speaker 3: agency people and advertising people and you're just they're just like, oh.
- 5:00Speaker 5: As a first for the show, but throughout my career
- 5:06Speaker 5: when I turned up to do a voice over and
- 5:08Speaker 5: there was a group of people, I'd always go, oh fuss.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Every time there was only one.
- 5:14Speaker 2: There's only one person that a.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Guy and another guy or another woman, and that's it's
- 5:19Speaker 4: as soon as I start having a conversation with somebody
- 5:21Speaker 4: else here in the ship, yes, and that, oh my god,
- 5:24Speaker 4: that's so good. I think we've got it, and you're like,
- 5:27Speaker 4: fucking new beauty and you've only been there three minutes ago.
- 5:29Speaker 4: I'm just going to call Stewart yes, and you're like,
- 5:32Speaker 4: Stuart's not gonna answer the fucking phone.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Yes, they we just want to We just want to
- 5:37Speaker 2: play this to the client, So if you could just
- 5:39Speaker 2: hang around for it. But the whole racky Big Show
- 5:42Speaker 2: week days from four on radio Hurarchym They Big Show Podcast, No,
- 5:48Speaker 2: the worst one that I ever had. And I had
- 5:51Speaker 2: a complaint laid against me by these people, and to
- 5:56Speaker 2: this day I still fucking see about it. And it
- 6:00Speaker 2: was or four and this is what happened. Right. I
- 6:06Speaker 2: turned up and it was a studio I'd never been
- 6:07Speaker 2: at before for a stat and that's okay.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Why did you mention?
- 6:13Speaker 2: And then it was already a sort of fire. Usually
- 6:17Speaker 2: you go to your normal studios, but this is the
- 6:18Speaker 2: one I'd never been to, So I was okay. Anyway,
- 6:21Speaker 2: like fifteen minutes late, they turn up, right, no apologies,
- 6:26Speaker 2: and there was about five of them, No apologies, there
- 6:30Speaker 2: were five of them, and they and this is what happened,
- 6:33Speaker 2: Hi Jason, blah blah blah blah blah. And then they
- 6:36Speaker 2: sat down and they said, is anyone else hungry? And
- 6:40Speaker 2: I went, yes, no, I'm not hungry before I came.
- 6:44Speaker 2: And they said should we get the and the engineer said, oh,
- 6:48Speaker 2: there's a sushi place just around the corner. We can
- 6:50Speaker 2: grab some stuff from there if you like. So they did.
- 6:53Speaker 2: So they went and fucking bought sushi and sat there
- 6:57Speaker 2: for twenty minutes and started eating all the I'm just
- 7:00Speaker 2: standing there not eating anything. I get in the studio
- 7:04Speaker 2: and the first thing they say to me is, oh, now,
- 7:06Speaker 2: the scripts. The script's pretty loose, Jase. So if you
- 7:10Speaker 2: want to improvise, you just improvise a way and that's
- 7:13Speaker 2: totally fine. And I said, will I will do that
- 7:16Speaker 2: if you want to pay me to write.
- 7:17Speaker 6: The script, because no, bullshit, because I was so fucked off,
- 7:25Speaker 6: and I was like, you know, but I said it
- 7:26Speaker 6: in a kind of funny, jokey way.
- 7:30Speaker 2: But it also I was fucked up. And then it
- 7:32Speaker 2: was the classic I'd do it. They'd have a five
- 7:35Speaker 2: minute conversation amongst themselves, can you try? And it went
- 7:38Speaker 2: for over an hour. Anyway. The next thing I know,
- 7:41Speaker 2: about three hours later, my agent rings me up and goes, Jace,
- 7:44Speaker 2: we just had a complaint from the client that you
- 7:46Speaker 2: just did that voice over for that you had a
- 7:48Speaker 2: bit of an attitude. Yeah, And I was like, fucking outside, did.
- 7:55Speaker 4: That's so?
- 7:55Speaker 3: Yeah, that's bullshit? And I was just FEU, don't they
- 7:59Speaker 3: get per hour of you being there?
- 8:02Speaker 2: The engineer, The engineer does, the studio does, so you
- 8:05Speaker 2: just get a set rate.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Yes, it's a fuck up. I'll tell you what. I
- 8:10Speaker 4: after all these years, I still don't understand how voice Yes,
- 8:13Speaker 4: voice pricing is done. It's a fucking sham. And you
- 8:16Speaker 4: go on there sometimes and it's you get one hundred
- 8:18Speaker 4: and thirty bucks, and you going there another time you
- 8:20Speaker 4: get five grand. I'm factifying difference. Yeah, I do the
- 8:22Speaker 4: same thing every time. Yeah, good a mate, Yeah, good mate.
- 8:26Speaker 4: It's all meag.
- 8:29Speaker 3: One I heard the other day, which is I haven't
- 8:30Speaker 3: had I don't get a lot used to go once
- 8:32Speaker 3: upon a time.
- 8:33Speaker 4: I haven't had one for over a year.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Well how about this.
- 8:36Speaker 4: I used to get fucking heaps neither.
- 8:38Speaker 3: The last one I had, I got less than half
- 8:41Speaker 3: of the overall payment, right, which seems really bad.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Less than half than the overall payment.
- 8:47Speaker 3: So they paid this amount. I got less than half
- 8:50Speaker 3: with fees and all sorts of shit, right then the
- 8:53Speaker 3: overall And I was like, you know what, I don't
- 8:55Speaker 3: think that's right.
- 8:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I know what you mean. So they'll have the fee, yeah,
- 8:59Speaker 4: minus the booking fee, booking fee and minus their commission, commission,
- 9:03Speaker 4: minus your text.
- 9:04Speaker 3: That's right.
- 9:05Speaker 4: Yeah, she dwindles down pretty quick. Yeah.
- 9:07Speaker 2: But having said that, the booking fee shouldn't come out
- 9:10Speaker 2: of your.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Well, the booking the booking fee should not be should
- 9:15Speaker 4: not even be showing, because I have had a similar
- 9:17Speaker 4: thing easy where I'm like, okay, well they're paying this much.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:22Speaker 4: If that's the case, and that's inclusive of booking fee,
- 9:25Speaker 4: which may very well be that by the time you
- 9:27Speaker 4: get to me, you should not be showing that booking fee. No,
- 9:29Speaker 4: I want to see nothing to do with the booking fee,
- 9:31Speaker 4: because if I see the booking fee and I see
- 9:33Speaker 4: that you're taking the booking fee out of my rate, yes,
- 9:35Speaker 4: I'm going to be asking why you're not getting your
- 9:37Speaker 4: own fucking that.
- 9:38Speaker 2: It's never happened to me, right career, it is, it is.
- 9:42Speaker 4: I think it's an invoicing issue, right Yeah, that's the
- 9:45Speaker 4: way that the invoice is structured, so you can't.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Do anything about it. But it's just something you don't
- 9:50Speaker 3: need to know.
- 9:50Speaker 2: About it always, like with the voice work, with any
- 9:53Speaker 2: acting work, you know, there's the commission and the text,
- 9:56Speaker 2: and they used to always bumm me out with you
- 9:58Speaker 2: go ah God, end that with about just over half
- 10:02Speaker 2: of what you actually did fore and you just go off.
- 10:05Speaker 3: I had, I had my most recent video. I nutted
- 10:08Speaker 3: it out in five minutes.
- 10:09Speaker 4: You nutted. I knutted it out.
- 10:12Speaker 3: I got my bullets at bullers out and just nutted
- 10:14Speaker 3: and they were like that's great, thank.
- 10:16Speaker 4: You for that.
- 10:18Speaker 3: And then I was like, oh, is there anything else you.
- 10:19Speaker 4: Want me to do?
- 10:19Speaker 3: Because I like to treat the clients with respect chase,
- 10:22Speaker 3: and they were like, now, to be honest, we don't
- 10:24Speaker 3: need anything. I was like, how about I just chill
- 10:25Speaker 3: here for fifteen and if there's anything else, let me know.
- 10:28Speaker 3: And then I like sat down started eating a choky
- 10:30Speaker 3: bar and then they were like, oh, see this shot
- 10:33Speaker 3: here and it's like this this grizzly beer thing is
- 10:37Speaker 3: like loading a truck. And then like looked at the
- 10:39Speaker 3: camera like he spotted you watching him. He's like, do
- 10:43Speaker 3: you think you could make some like noises? And so
- 10:46Speaker 3: I was like, oh yeah, sure. So I went in
- 10:48Speaker 3: there and I was just like and slowly got stupider
- 10:53Speaker 3: and stupider, and they were like these are so great,
- 10:57Speaker 3: and I'm just like literally making a noise you could make.
- 11:01Speaker 3: I'm getting rate for this.
- 11:04Speaker 4: It's just like so stupid, that is. But also it's
- 11:10Speaker 4: not easy. Not everyone can do it.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I used to get thousands of voiceovers I had.
- 11:18Speaker 4: I had at my agent about it and she just
- 11:21Speaker 4: said said, it's dead. Yeah, yeah, But and I get
- 11:26Speaker 4: I understand dead, But I don't understand no work for
- 11:29Speaker 4: a year. Yes, not when it comes to voice. I mean,
- 11:31Speaker 4: you listen, listen to this fucking to But now and nowadays,
- 11:38Speaker 4: it's a good it's a good voice. There's a lot
- 11:42Speaker 4: more every man, there's least need for a year and
- 11:44Speaker 4: a me jay. It's sure with our deep voices. They
- 11:49Speaker 4: want somebody that's you know and every man like me. Yeah,
- 11:52Speaker 4: any old preck that's been dragged off the street.
- 11:54Speaker 3: That's right, dragged off and feel it fair enough.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Hey, sure, I've had my time.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Hocky Big Show four to seven weekdays. Man already heardock
- 12:03Speaker 3: It's so good.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Those those stairs shirts.
