- 0:15Speaker 4: Artists on artists.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Do you know why they call it show business? I
- 0:19Speaker 1: always wondered that.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Welcome back to artists on artists on Artists on artists.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Have we got a show for you this week?
- 0:29Speaker 4: One of the most successful shows of the mid two
- 0:31Speaker 4: thousands was the lovable sitcom Month to Month with its
- 0:34Speaker 4: four stars who went on to live incredible lives with
- 0:38Speaker 4: very prolific career.
- 0:39Speaker 1: N Can I just say I loved this show. I
- 0:43Speaker 1: was obsessed with Month to Month.
- 0:46Speaker 5: It's absolutely fantastic that artists on Artists on Artists on
- 0:49Speaker 5: Artists got these four people in the same room after
- 0:53Speaker 5: so many years.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Take a look, so all four of us together for
- 1:01Speaker 4: the first time.
- 1:01Speaker 1: What Yes, gotta be gotta be fifteen years now? Well,
- 1:06Speaker 1: I'm so.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Old, so old the show ended? When, Oh, I'm so
- 1:10Speaker 4: bad at that show ended?
- 1:11Speaker 2: Twenty thirteen, twenty thirteen, twenty what May.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Twenty thirteen yeah, May fifteenth, twenty thirteen, and what year
- 1:19Speaker 1: is it now, twenty twenty one.
- 1:21Speaker 3: It's absolutely wild. It's absolutely wild.
- 1:24Speaker 2: So not exactly fifteen, but we're getting close.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Or like eight, but we're getting close.
- 1:29Speaker 4: It's close. It feels really close to fifteen.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I mean, I think this is the first time we've
- 1:33Speaker 2: all been in the same room together since the show Rat.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I would say, yeah, yeah, I.
- 1:38Speaker 5: Think we see each other around and do different things,
- 1:41Speaker 5: like we worked on that Christmas movie together.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Oh yeah, no, no, no.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Oh I loved oh no, no, no, you guys are fantastic
- 1:50Speaker 5: in that. But I say, so much fun all of
- 1:52Speaker 5: us in one room together. I do think it's been
- 1:55Speaker 5: a freaking long dumb it long.
- 1:57Speaker 1: ID say a long time, I would say nearly ten years.
- 2:01Speaker 4: I would say, I would say, it feels like fifteen years.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Wait, so one, two, three.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Where are you counting from? We're going backwards or forwards?
- 2:10Speaker 3: Going backwards?
- 2:11Speaker 5: Okay, so one, that's about fifteen. I would say fourteen
- 2:14Speaker 5: to fifteen.
- 2:16Speaker 4: My assistant Gordon is messaging me right now telling me
- 2:19Speaker 4: that it has been eight. I think we just said
- 2:22Speaker 4: this right, we did, we.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Did, we did, But you know, sometimes eight feels like
- 2:27Speaker 1: fifteen if we're we're really we're really compounding all the times,
- 2:30Speaker 1: all the times that we haven't talked to each other.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I mean, how many Christmases? Is that? What?
- 2:34Speaker 4: Like, Ted, You're crazy? And then we shot that Christmas
- 2:36Speaker 4: movie together and.
- 2:37Speaker 3: It's no, no, no, no, Well should we should we?
- 2:42Speaker 1: I mean the people know who we are, but should
- 2:43Speaker 1: we give them a little refresher?
- 2:45Speaker 4: Of course, my name is William Scray. I of course
- 2:51Speaker 4: played Connor on Month to Month.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Hey, what's up. It's me Trinton Deaf and I played
- 3:01Speaker 2: Dougie on Month to Month.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Hey, I'm Sarah Barra, and I played Goldie, and of
- 3:08Speaker 3: course I'm Rebecca Play and I did play Sandy on
- 3:11Speaker 3: Month to Month.
- 3:12Speaker 1: And what a time it was.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Oh truly some of the best years of my life.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I would say, it's so crazy.
- 3:18Speaker 4: I mean, when we all got that job, we of course,
- 3:22Speaker 4: that was our first job in the industry, right, none
- 3:24Speaker 4: of us had ever been on a sitcom before. None
- 3:26Speaker 4: of us were ever the leads of a sitcom.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Right, right, that's a super fun thing to talk about. Actually,
- 3:31Speaker 1: what was everybody doing when they got the call? The
- 3:35Speaker 1: infamous call?
- 3:37Speaker 5: Well, I had zero credits zero. I think we all did,
- 3:40Speaker 5: and we just booked it big almost.
- 3:42Speaker 4: I don't know, well, I had that one credit. I
- 3:44Speaker 4: was on the X File. I played that one guy
- 3:46Speaker 4: that fell off of a porch and then bust into
- 3:49Speaker 4: three thousand cockroaches. That's actually what got me seen four
- 3:52Speaker 4: Month to Month because they liked the way that I
- 3:55Speaker 4: was freaking out in the specific scene, because I said,
- 3:58Speaker 4: I'm exploding, I'm exploding, and as you got, no Connor
- 4:02Speaker 4: was kind of a neurotic guy, and so they said,
- 4:05Speaker 4: what if this cockroach man actually didn't have cockroaches inside
- 4:07Speaker 4: of him and he was just living in an apartment
- 4:10Speaker 4: trying to make it month a month while working in
- 4:11Speaker 4: a bagel shop with his friends.
- 4:13Speaker 2: That's crazy. That's I actually didn't know that.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Yeah, it was really awesome. But what were you guys doing?
- 4:19Speaker 2: Well? I was doing I was actually in Baltimore at
- 4:23Speaker 2: the time, doing just mostly improv and and a little
- 4:28Speaker 2: bit of clowning. And they, you know, just by chance,
- 4:33Speaker 2: the creators Sasha and Elkin came to my show and
- 4:38Speaker 2: they loved me. And during my audition, you know, I'm
- 4:41Speaker 2: a clown. So I was breaking the fourth ball left
- 4:45Speaker 2: and right, Actually, I was going, like, what is this line,
- 4:49Speaker 2: what's the point of this line? This is a dumb line.
- 4:51Speaker 2: You're dumb for writing this, and they were just needless
- 4:54Speaker 2: to say eating it up.
- 4:56Speaker 1: They well, I mean we had to respect your process,
- 4:59Speaker 1: you know, because you're a stand up. You're like, I mean,
- 5:02Speaker 1: you do Improvy Cup for the comedy world, Like, we
- 5:04Speaker 1: have to respect your expertise on that. And if that
- 5:07Speaker 1: involves calling us out, stopping the scene, storming off set,
- 5:10Speaker 1: you know, it's all part of the process.
- 5:12Speaker 3: It's the comedy world for sure.
- 5:13Speaker 2: That's comedy world. You know. It's just like comedy training
- 5:16Speaker 2: teaches you to walk off if you're not satisfied, if
- 5:18Speaker 2: you're not having a good set, if you don't feel good,
- 5:20Speaker 2: you get off that stage immediately. So yeah, you know
- 5:23Speaker 2: that's how I kind of got discovered for the show,
- 5:26Speaker 2: and it changed my life immediately when I found.
- 5:29Speaker 1: It, you know, right right, I mean personally, I was
- 5:32Speaker 1: sitting in a pool when I got the call and Elkin.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Elkin was on the phone and he said, Rebecca, you
- 5:40Speaker 1: got it, And I said, got what what are you
- 5:42Speaker 1: talking about? Because I had forgotten that I sent in
- 5:45Speaker 1: this tape because I get so many tapes. I send
- 5:47Speaker 1: in so many tapes, and I've been up for so
- 5:50Speaker 1: many pilots at this point that I just couldn't even remember.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Like I was grinding so hard in New York City
- 5:57Speaker 1: for about eighteen months or so, and just like really
- 6:01Speaker 1: putting in my time. And I eventually did get this
- 6:05Speaker 1: meeting with Elkin after some time of grinding. I should
- 6:09Speaker 1: disclose my father was the president of NBC for about
- 6:12Speaker 1: two decades.
- 6:14Speaker 3: But you were grinding for eighteen months. I mean, give
- 6:16Speaker 3: yourself some credit.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Right, I mean there were so many times around month
- 6:20Speaker 1: two months six that I almost quit, right, I almost
- 6:24Speaker 1: I almost hung up my hat. I mean I was
- 6:27Speaker 1: sweating my ass off in coffee shops, not working them,
- 6:30Speaker 1: but getting coffee at them. You know, it really gets
- 6:33Speaker 1: you down, Rebecca.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Don't think I didn't notice you say, hang up your hat,
- 6:37Speaker 4: maybe slyly mentioning your hat line. By the way, those
- 6:41Speaker 4: bucket hats are the hottest thing. They are the hottest
- 6:45Speaker 4: thing in this town. Right now. I feel like I've
- 6:47Speaker 4: seen every single fourteen year old is wearing a Flay
- 6:49Speaker 4: hat right on their hand.
- 6:51Speaker 1: No, the teens love the play hats. They love the
- 6:54Speaker 1: Flay hats.
- 6:55Speaker 2: They're fun. I love the language that you use on them.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I love like the fun little tropes that you put right.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I kind of make my own language on them.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Yeah, what was that my favorite one? It says gongy pong.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah. So that is a combination of a German word,
- 7:11Speaker 1: a French word, a Japanese word, and a Canadian French
- 7:16Speaker 1: word that they don't use in France, that they only
- 7:18Speaker 1: use in you know, Montreal. And so I like to
- 7:21Speaker 1: kind of play with words and sounds and letters and
- 7:24Speaker 1: make my own words.
- 7:26Speaker 4: Does it mean anything to you?
- 7:27Speaker 1: It means peace and prosperity.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Gonky pong to both of you, then all three of you.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly exactly.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I have a dukudango fingy fango in my car actually
- 7:37Speaker 2: that I wear a lot.
- 7:39Speaker 1: But you guys are so supportive, And hey, I got
- 7:42Speaker 1: another shipment of Wanky Panky's. They're coming in. They're coming in.
- 7:45Speaker 1: You guys are gonna be the first.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Oh.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I probably shouldn't even be saying this on air, but
- 7:49Speaker 1: you guys are going to be the first to get them.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Wanky Pangy is coming out summer two thousand and twenty three, and.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Wanky Panky that's the one that means relax.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Yes, it means relax. It comes from the Chinese word
- 8:03Speaker 1: as well as the British word as well as the
- 8:06Speaker 1: Dutch word. We're combining the ball and it means relax.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I mean none of the words that I took it
- 8:11Speaker 1: from actually mean relax. It's sort of my own spin
- 8:14Speaker 1: on a bunch of different letters and sounds.
- 8:16Speaker 4: You're only summer twenty twenty three, that's what that feels
- 8:19Speaker 4: like a long time to Really? Is that fifteen years
- 8:21Speaker 4: from now?
- 8:21Speaker 1: Right?
- 8:21Speaker 2: So we wanted to start at least fifteen Christmases? Am
- 8:24Speaker 2: I right?
- 8:25Speaker 3: So one?
- 8:26Speaker 1: So it's a fifteen year rollout plan.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Where wait, yeah, my assistant Gordon is telling me it's
- 8:33Speaker 4: two years.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I'm counting backwards.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Ask Gordon if thinking about twenty three twenty three feels
- 8:37Speaker 4: like fifteen years.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Anyway, I'm I'm blab I could blabber on about my
- 8:42Speaker 1: hats all day long. You know I love the hot Sara.
- 8:45Speaker 2: How do you get started here?
- 8:47Speaker 5: Well, you guys know that this was my first acting job,
- 8:50Speaker 5: right right? I was and still I'm a model, you know,
- 8:56Speaker 5: like I just grew up from a model family.
- 8:59Speaker 3: It's just our family business is modeling.
- 9:02Speaker 1: So I was in.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Santa Pez when I got the call.
- 9:04Speaker 5: I was doing a heavy on ad campaign back i'd
- 9:10Speaker 5: say fourteen fifteen years ago, and my phone rang.
- 9:14Speaker 3: It was Elkin and Sasha. Actually I got both of
- 9:17Speaker 3: them on the.
- 9:17Speaker 5: Phone and they were like, are you sitting down? And
- 9:20Speaker 5: I went, yeah, I'm sitting down in santra Pez.
- 9:22Speaker 3: What's up? And they said, you got it, kid, and
- 9:26Speaker 3: I said, oh my god, I'm gonna need a coach.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, Roz, Ozzie, Ozzie Well, Ozzie Roz, Ozzie
- 9:36Speaker 4: ro Ozzie Roz.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Yeah, Ozzie Roz.
- 9:39Speaker 5: Well, it's because for a while Roz took a vacation
- 9:43Speaker 5: and I did have a sub that was named Nausy
- 9:46Speaker 5: because Roz goes by Ouzzie.
- 9:48Speaker 1: And eventually we just sort of all called each of
- 9:50Speaker 1: them both of the names for sure.
- 9:52Speaker 5: But Rozzie was my on set coach. I wish he
- 9:55Speaker 5: was here today. He feels like a fifth member of
- 9:57Speaker 5: the cast.
- 9:57Speaker 2: I love him so much. Yeah, I see, I was confused.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I was calling him Ozzie Roz because I thought he
- 10:01Speaker 2: was from Australia, like Ozzie Roz or Rozzie, Ozzie, Rozzie.
- 10:05Speaker 2: But I guess I was mistaken. He would have probably
- 10:08Speaker 2: had an Australian accent if he was from Australia.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Maybe later we can call him.
- 10:14Speaker 1: William's assistant is actually whispering in my ear right now.
- 10:17Speaker 1: He says his name was Kyle.
- 10:21Speaker 3: No, that doesn't sound.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Right, Gordon. If you could maybe not talk to the
- 10:24Speaker 4: other cast members, that would be really great. By the way, Sorry,
- 10:27Speaker 4: off to talk to him, but you're you're my assistant.
- 10:30Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I don't want to overstep.
- 10:32Speaker 4: No, no, and I'm sorry that my assistant is whispering
- 10:35Speaker 4: in your ear. That it's inappropriate and he will be
- 10:37Speaker 4: dealt with appropriate. No, no, no, no, no, I'm sorry.
- 10:40Speaker 4: I'm sorry for Gordon. I'm sorry for Gordon. Okay, I
- 10:43Speaker 4: want to apologize for Gordon.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Gordon. It's okay, Gordon, it's okay. William wasn't listening and
- 10:47Speaker 1: so you went to me, and that's that's fine. You know,
- 10:49Speaker 1: Gordon is a headstrong. He wants to get his message
- 10:52Speaker 1: across and he's going to do really well in this industry.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he wishes.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Let's talk about our pilot. Can we talk about the pilot.
- 10:59Speaker 4: I would love to talk about what I would love
- 11:01Speaker 4: to I also wanted to bring up it's so incredible
- 11:04Speaker 4: that they recreated the set for us to record.
- 11:06Speaker 2: No, look at this, I feel like I'm just right
- 11:10Speaker 2: and flipping bagels.
- 11:11Speaker 4: It's so crazy that bagel shop we all ran together.
- 11:14Speaker 4: I mean, they recreated the shop with painstaking detail.
- 11:17Speaker 5: There's Goldie's big lazy boy chair right insist on sleeping
- 11:23Speaker 5: in every day.
- 11:24Speaker 1: She loves we have Sandy's big cuckoo clock over up
- 11:29Speaker 1: up top because she's kookie. You know, she was a
- 11:32Speaker 1: kookie girl.
- 11:32Speaker 4: She was the artist about What about Dougie's chicken coop over?
- 11:35Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, there it is there. It is my chicken
- 11:37Speaker 2: coop that was.
- 11:38Speaker 3: It looks the exact same. That must be the exact
- 11:40Speaker 3: one or a replica.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Yeah, that was.
- 11:42Speaker 2: It's probably either the exact same or a replica.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I think the same chickens.
- 11:47Speaker 2: It's either the exact same chickens or replicas. I don't know,
- 11:50Speaker 2: but I think it's got to be one of those
- 11:52Speaker 2: two for sure.
- 11:53Speaker 1: And it's so funny that they brought back the chickens
- 11:55Speaker 1: because that was something for the pilot and they never had.
- 11:58Speaker 2: It again going into the pipe. It was so fun
- 12:01Speaker 2: because you know, it was like this idea of for
- 12:03Speaker 2: people from different parts of America come together in New
- 12:08Speaker 2: York and just try to struggle through it.
- 12:09Speaker 4: You know, Dougie, of course, the great American South, right,
- 12:12Speaker 4: bringing his chickens to New York City, this.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Confused little boy going ooh, well, I'm I supposed to pull.
- 12:18Speaker 4: My chickens exactly, And I would say, those are the
- 12:20Speaker 4: exact chickens we've probably used in the in the show.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Yeah, either the exact ones or a replica.
- 12:25Speaker 2: It's one of the two. It's got to be one
- 12:27Speaker 2: of the two. God.
- 12:29Speaker 4: And then so we got great American South Dougie over here,
- 12:32Speaker 4: and then Sandy coming over from the West Coast Callie
- 12:35Speaker 4: girls Rascos.
- 12:36Speaker 1: It's so funny about the part actually, because they had
- 12:39Speaker 1: originally written Sandy as this like very serious goth character,
- 12:43Speaker 1: and then when I read it in the audition, they said,
- 12:45Speaker 1: you're not doing this right at all, and so they
- 12:47Speaker 1: rewrote it for my voice.
- 12:49Speaker 4: I can't remember. I can't forget that first line you had,
- 12:51Speaker 4: where do I put my surfboard? And remember you knocked
- 12:54Speaker 4: over my coffee. I had a big coffee on the table,
- 12:57Speaker 4: A really really big coffee on the table, and you
- 13:00Speaker 4: knocked that.
- 13:00Speaker 2: That coffee was huge.
- 13:02Speaker 4: It was one hundred and twenty eight ounces. My character
- 13:05Speaker 4: was really high strung, right, Connor.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Yeah from Yeah you were in New York.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yeah, you're the only one from the East Coast.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Yeah, you were New York. And so you were always
- 13:13Speaker 1: carrying around that coffee because you have placed this to.
- 13:15Speaker 4: Be I have to go. I was busy, I was
- 13:17Speaker 4: moving right, I was making.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Change, and I for one love that. Within the first
- 13:22Speaker 1: two minutes of the pilot, we each brought a big
- 13:25Speaker 1: object that represented where we came from.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Well, and that brings up Goldiees object.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Yeah, by the way, you brought that big replica of
- 13:34Speaker 2: the Great Lakes because you're from the north.
- 13:36Speaker 3: I brought a huge lake. It was like a replica
- 13:40Speaker 3: of a big lake.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:41Speaker 1: It was like one of those like one of those
- 13:42Speaker 1: like mini train stations that boys have, except it was
- 13:45Speaker 1: just a lake water.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Yes.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Yeah, that was the simplicity of the pilot. Right. We
- 13:49Speaker 4: all had these four objects we needed to make room
- 13:52Speaker 4: for in this small fucking shithole of an apartment, and.
- 13:56Speaker 5: Here we are making room for our objects. When actually
- 13:59Speaker 5: we're making room for each other in each other's lives.
- 14:01Speaker 4: Right exactly. And so it was a really great way.
- 14:04Speaker 4: And I've heard they actually teach this pilot in a
- 14:06Speaker 4: lot of pilot classes.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I believe it. I believe it.
- 14:09Speaker 4: They show it as a great way because you meet
- 14:10Speaker 4: all of the characters, and then of course you see
- 14:13Speaker 4: their great weaknesses and act too. Somebody from their past
- 14:16Speaker 4: calls and calls them and talks to them about their
- 14:19Speaker 4: short companies.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Yes, right, and they kind of go one by one
- 14:22Speaker 1: and each one like they go. It's two minutes of
- 14:24Speaker 1: the objects, and then it's two minutes of consecutive phone
- 14:27Speaker 1: calls by each of our backstory. And then from then
- 14:31Speaker 1: we just launchraed in and you can't even tell what's happening.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I mean, the exposition happens so fast.
- 14:35Speaker 5: It happens so fast it goes, it goes where we
- 14:37Speaker 5: come from objects straight to phone.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Chicken, coop, surfboard, a cup of coffee, Great Lakes.
- 14:44Speaker 2: And then of course I get a call from my
- 14:46Speaker 2: mom saying I'll never make it as an actor in
- 14:49Speaker 2: New York. Yeah, come back to the South when you're ready,
- 14:52Speaker 2: come back to making Missouri. She was like, how day
- 14:57Speaker 2: I missed my son and the audience ate it up
- 15:01Speaker 2: and I go, you stupid mom, you know, and the
- 15:05Speaker 2: audience just loved it.
- 15:06Speaker 1: It was like it loved it.
- 15:07Speaker 2: It was just like one of those moments when you
- 15:09Speaker 2: first get on that sound stage and you realize kind
- 15:11Speaker 2: of what you're playing with. I mean, granted, we'd never
- 15:14Speaker 2: had a live audience. It was always canned laughter, but
- 15:16Speaker 2: being on this downstage and experiencing what it would be
- 15:20Speaker 2: like potentially to have an audience, yeah.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Feeling the energy of the canned laughter every time they
- 15:24Speaker 1: pressed the button.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Feeling the director and a couple of the people on
- 15:27Speaker 2: set and crew laughing for where there would be laughs,
- 15:30Speaker 2: electric electric, Well who else got caused.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Because the mom calls and then of course.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Yeah we get you know, Sandy is from the West Coast,
- 15:38Speaker 1: and so she gets a call from a marijuana shop
- 15:42Speaker 1: and they say, Sandy, your marijuana is ready to pick up.
- 15:47Speaker 1: And I say, I'm not doing that life anymore.
- 15:50Speaker 4: You know.
- 15:50Speaker 1: It's like she has to leave that life behind, she
- 15:52Speaker 1: has to leave that chill life behind for the fast
- 15:55Speaker 1: paced nature of New York City, which is.
- 15:57Speaker 2: So fun because in two thousand and three, marijuana was
- 16:00Speaker 2: not illegal in California at all.
- 16:02Speaker 4: I actually heard about this. I read about this. This
- 16:04Speaker 4: was the first show that you maanly portrayed a marijuana
- 16:11Speaker 4: shop and that's his anywhere on a smoker, you know.
- 16:14Speaker 5: And at the time, I remember, no other shows were
- 16:16Speaker 5: doing it. But it didn't feel weird when you did it.
- 16:19Speaker 5: And then Connor got the call.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's when I get the call, right. I
- 16:23Speaker 2: love this because they did show, you know, a recovering alcoholic,
- 16:27Speaker 2: you know exactly.
- 16:28Speaker 4: I got a call from my sponsor saying, we know
- 16:31Speaker 4: that you are still drinking and and you're gonna lose
- 16:34Speaker 4: custody of your kids because he had a young son.
- 16:36Speaker 1: You guys, remember that's what we But just for the pilot,
- 16:39Speaker 1: I think that, Yeah, I've never meet the Sun, which
- 16:42Speaker 1: I think is so interesting.
- 16:43Speaker 4: Because I lose. So you're seeing the point of view
- 16:46Speaker 4: of somebody who has lost full custody of their kid
- 16:49Speaker 4: and then he goes on to live his own life,
- 16:51Speaker 4: which I thought was incredible.
- 16:52Speaker 1: That to Bagel, and it was funny. You know, you're
- 16:55Speaker 1: like you. We always referenced your son Jacob, who's like
- 16:59Speaker 1: somewhere else, but you're totally fine with it. You don't
- 17:02Speaker 1: feel an ounce of regret because this show is funny.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Let's not forget this is a comedy.
- 17:07Speaker 4: This show is so bold. You never get to see
- 17:10Speaker 4: what happens to the person who loses custody in a
- 17:12Speaker 4: movie or TV show. I want to shout out Elkin
- 17:14Speaker 4: for living this life. It was so brave of him
- 17:17Speaker 4: to put this in the show that he created. I
- 17:20Speaker 4: remember reading this and he said, you're playing me. And
- 17:22Speaker 4: I remember he was drinking, and I'm not joking, the
- 17:24Speaker 4: biggest cup of coffee I've ever seen. And I would say,
- 17:27Speaker 4: how much of this is real? How much of this
- 17:30Speaker 4: is fake? And I used to He was hard on me.
- 17:33Speaker 4: He was really, it was really hard on me. He
- 17:36Speaker 4: would come after me all the time. You would say, hey,
- 17:38Speaker 4: you're not doing me right, and I would say, oh,
- 17:40Speaker 4: I'm playing a character, and he said, you are me.
- 17:44Speaker 4: And we had we came to blows a couple of times.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Remember that that was in tense days on set. For sure,
- 17:49Speaker 2: those which you would like straight, You'd like, this is
- 17:51Speaker 2: a character, this is me, this is a character, this
- 17:53Speaker 2: is me. Punch punch knives are out, coffee's flying, and I.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Want to give props to you, because, as we all know, Elk,
- 18:01Speaker 1: you know, uh, we had a bit of a habit
- 18:05Speaker 1: of cocaine and a little bit a little bit, and
- 18:10Speaker 1: he would often make you do lines right before a
- 18:13Speaker 1: scene because you know, he's like, I'm in that headspace.
- 18:16Speaker 1: You have to be in that headspace too.
- 18:18Speaker 4: I certainly felt like I was doing a different show
- 18:20Speaker 4: than you guys were sometimes because.
- 18:22Speaker 1: You know, you were doing this very dark character.
- 18:24Speaker 2: It was light and fun for me most of the time, but.
- 18:26Speaker 1: It was really light and bud for me a lot
- 18:28Speaker 1: of the time, as well as a blasphemy.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Well, then I get my call, Yeah, what about your call?
- 18:32Speaker 5: And so I get a call from my hot, toxic
- 18:36Speaker 5: ex boyfriend, right, And this is when we start to
- 18:40Speaker 5: learn that my character's really hot.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Right, because on first glance we see Goldie's this very
- 18:45Speaker 1: pretty girl, and then within the three minute mark we
- 18:48Speaker 1: learned that she's also hot.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Yes, Because then I think the costumes did a great job.
- 18:52Speaker 4: You were wearing a lot of flowy kind of robes
- 18:55Speaker 4: and clothes kind of drapy, and then of course it
- 18:58Speaker 4: all gets caught in an event and it rips off
- 19:02Speaker 4: in your head.
- 19:02Speaker 5: And right at the moment of exposition. It's like a
- 19:05Speaker 5: physical and the dialogue came together. There goes my moon
- 19:09Speaker 5: move into the air vent and then we know who
- 19:13Speaker 5: this character is, right, and I mean, yeah, the ex
- 19:17Speaker 5: boyfriend calls her and he's like, you can't do this.
- 19:19Speaker 3: The moon move goes out.
- 19:20Speaker 1: And there's that running gag where Goldie always runs off
- 19:24Speaker 1: at the end of the night to call her ex boyfriend.
- 19:26Speaker 4: I know.
- 19:26Speaker 5: We always would make jokes that you guys had a
- 19:28Speaker 5: twelve hour day and I had an eleven hour day
- 19:30Speaker 5: because I was always off having a phone call with
- 19:34Speaker 5: the X.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Yeah, and that became the big catchphrase of the show, right,
- 19:39Speaker 4: I gotta call my ex. Yep, I gotta go call
- 19:41Speaker 4: my ex. I mean that was on shirts. I remember
- 19:43Speaker 4: I remember seeing I think they used it in six
- 19:46Speaker 4: Flags Merch. I mean I remember seeing I Gotta call
- 19:49Speaker 4: my ex with tweetybird next to bugs Bunny.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Yeah, we did a six flag steal.
- 19:54Speaker 5: I love this roller coaster they have and I tweet
- 19:57Speaker 5: about it all the time.
- 19:58Speaker 3: And finally they say.
- 19:59Speaker 4: And then the the month to month coaster that they.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Made month to month coaster.
- 20:05Speaker 4: I mean, all we were supposed to all be together.
- 20:07Speaker 1: I was supposed to be, but we.
- 20:09Speaker 5: Legally couldn't be together on camera, all four of us
- 20:13Speaker 5: because of our contract.
- 20:14Speaker 3: We couldn't all work together in the same prodcast.
- 20:17Speaker 2: That was a tough contract to sign. Here's the question
- 20:19Speaker 2: I've been wondering, you know, like, what were those first days?
- 20:23Speaker 2: Two questions, What were those first days of immense fame like?
- 20:26Speaker 2: And then the second question is what was it like
- 20:29Speaker 2: finishing and walking out of that door?
- 20:31Speaker 3: Oh, there's that's two huge things.
- 20:34Speaker 4: We started and we ended in two different places right,
- 20:37Speaker 4: completely different people.
- 20:38Speaker 2: To and I feel like I felt personally, I felt
- 20:40Speaker 2: the fame. Once we had that the second episode of
- 20:44Speaker 2: season two, that's when I knew this is not just famous,
- 20:49Speaker 2: this is earth shatteringly famous, you know, because I was
- 20:53Speaker 2: walking down I was in Los Angeles, just walking down
- 20:57Speaker 2: the street, and somebody threw a water bottle at me.
- 20:59Speaker 2: It's filled with piss, It gets all over me, and
- 21:01Speaker 2: they say, I love you, I fucking love you. Can
- 21:04Speaker 2: I have your baby? And that's when I knew, like,
- 21:06Speaker 2: this is a whole nother level of fame. Somebody's throwing
- 21:09Speaker 2: their pe at me but also wants to have sex
- 21:11Speaker 2: with me. You gotta be fair.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fame. And let me tell you something. That's
- 21:15Speaker 1: Hollywood Boulevard.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I can't believe.
- 21:20Speaker 4: For the whole run of the show, you lived on
- 21:21Speaker 4: Hollywood and Highland. Yeah right, you live right there next
- 21:25Speaker 4: to the your Deeli factory.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Yeah. I just did not never moved out of my apartment.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Well, you were very and you were very adamant that
- 21:31Speaker 1: you were living this Hollywood lifestyle. You wanted to maintain
- 21:35Speaker 1: the Hollywood lifestyle. You didn't want to lose that.
- 21:38Speaker 2: No, no, no, you know, like I did not want
- 21:40Speaker 2: to lose that feeling of being in Hollywood. Like even
- 21:42Speaker 2: though we shot our show in New York, even though
- 21:44Speaker 2: we shot on a you know, in sound stage, it
- 21:46Speaker 2: was all based in New York. I wanted to make
- 21:47Speaker 2: sure I kept, you know, my Hollywood grounding. So I
- 21:50Speaker 2: lived Hollywood and Highland right right basically right next to
- 21:54Speaker 2: the Ripleys.
- 21:55Speaker 1: It's where all the stars live, so like you have
- 21:57Speaker 1: to be where they all are.
- 21:59Speaker 5: I remember the first time I felt like my life
- 22:02Speaker 5: wasn't the same was I called a taxi to come
- 22:05Speaker 5: pick me up because you didn't have ubers back then,
- 22:07Speaker 5: and I go outside, I'm tired, I just get in
- 22:11Speaker 5: this car I see outside my house.
- 22:13Speaker 3: It's one of those cars. Here, I am thinking it's
- 22:17Speaker 3: the taxi. I get inside.
- 22:19Speaker 5: We start driving, and all these people are looking at me,
- 22:21Speaker 5: and I realized I'm in one of those vans that
- 22:24Speaker 5: brings you to the stars homes.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Oh you're on a star tour.
- 22:28Speaker 5: And they were camped outside my house and here I
- 22:30Speaker 5: am just getting in the car.
- 22:32Speaker 4: You were in your own Star tour.
- 22:34Speaker 3: I went on my.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Ohone start space. I thought it was just a taxi
- 22:37Speaker 1: and you got to use it as like a bus,
- 22:39Speaker 1: because you know, you'd you'd get off your appearance at
- 22:42Speaker 1: the Jimmy Kivel show and you'd hop on one of
- 22:45Speaker 1: the Star tours and they'd drive you straight home because
- 22:47Speaker 1: that's where you lived.
- 22:48Speaker 5: And it was crazy because I realized I had this
- 22:52Speaker 5: weird taxi system all to myself.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I hate to say it, but fame sometimes you hit
- 22:57Speaker 3: a level of ultra fame and things get easy.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Yeah, they stopped being hard, definitely right.
- 23:05Speaker 1: I mean for a while, I personally like before this show,
- 23:08Speaker 1: I would sort of fly in these private planes that
- 23:10Speaker 1: were they were quite dingy. And then once I hit
- 23:14Speaker 1: the show, once I got that first big paycheck. I
- 23:17Speaker 1: mean I got a bigger plane.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Yeah. I remember. One of the moments that I realized
- 23:22Speaker 4: that my life was changed forever and I had more
- 23:26Speaker 4: money than I ever dreamed of having was when Gordon
- 23:30Speaker 4: crashed my Miata off Mulholland. He said, there was some
- 23:37Speaker 4: sort of You've.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Been with Gordon for a long time. I have.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Gordon has been with me since. I mean god, I
- 23:45Speaker 4: think I got Gordon in I think I got Gordon
- 23:50Speaker 4: in two thousand and.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Four.
- 23:54Speaker 4: I think it was season two. I mean, Gordon has
- 23:56Speaker 4: been with me for uh what and the twenty years going.
- 24:04Speaker 2: To be twenty years?
- 24:05Speaker 1: I mean two two?
- 24:06Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's a couple of Christmases.
- 24:09Speaker 1: It's and this story of where you found Gordon is
- 24:12Speaker 1: something that I'll never forget.
- 24:14Speaker 4: Please tell me when I got Gordon. I remember I
- 24:16Speaker 4: was looking to get an assistant, and I was looking
- 24:17Speaker 4: around and I and I couldn't figure out which one
- 24:19Speaker 4: to get. I was looking around and I remember going
- 24:22Speaker 4: to this, uh tender Greens. You guys remember tender Greens
- 24:26Speaker 4: used to We used to go there when we report.
- 24:28Speaker 3: They had those sixteen dollars salads.
- 24:30Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 24:31Speaker 2: As a artist. It was tough to It was tough
- 24:35Speaker 2: to convince myself to get that I.
- 24:37Speaker 4: Was and he was there, and I remember asking, I said,
- 24:41Speaker 4: can I get the falaffel salad? But can the falaffel
- 24:45Speaker 4: be steamed instead of fried? And can which salad? Right? Right?
- 24:52Speaker 4: And and and the thing is, I was gonna throw
- 24:54Speaker 4: this salad away. I just like to see if they
- 24:57Speaker 4: follow my orders before I order my real meal, and
- 24:59Speaker 4: so I I just want to see if they know
- 25:00Speaker 4: what I'm doing. And so I asked, and I saw
- 25:04Speaker 4: him in the back.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Yeah, as a.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Struggling artist is tough, you know, because you have to
- 25:09Speaker 1: establish yourself as these in these restaurants, as someone to respect.
- 25:12Speaker 4: Of course. And so Gordon, I see him in the
- 25:15Speaker 4: back behind all the other riff raff, and I see
- 25:18Speaker 4: him steaming chickpeas. I see him there's a boiling pot
- 25:22Speaker 4: of chickpeas. And I see him trying his hardest, He's
- 25:25Speaker 4: sweating his freaking ass off, and I say to him,
- 25:29Speaker 4: this guy is willing to go for it. It's been
- 25:32Speaker 4: a really incredible experience. And that's when I realized, when
- 25:35Speaker 4: you have somebody to help you out with your life.
- 25:36Speaker 4: That's when my life has changed because my life got
- 25:39Speaker 4: so much easier to a point, and then Gordon started
- 25:41Speaker 4: getting sloppy, really wonderful.
- 25:43Speaker 1: It's great that you guys have that sort of relationship.
- 25:45Speaker 1: I mean, it's I'm curious about your guys's teams because
- 25:49Speaker 1: I never keep it talk. Yeah, I never keep an
- 25:51Speaker 1: assistant on.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Yeah. I think people would love to hear about the show.
- 25:55Speaker 2: But let's talk about teams. I think I think we
- 26:01Speaker 2: were brought here originally just to talk about the show, but.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I want to see. Look, I want to put feelers out.
- 26:09Speaker 1: I want to make sure that I'm getting the best deal.
- 26:11Speaker 1: And is that such a crime. Is that such a crime.
- 26:15Speaker 2: This is what I want to talk about.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Let's talk teams.
- 26:18Speaker 4: If that's a crime, throw me in the hague.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Start that team talk, all right, you start?
- 26:23Speaker 1: All right, listen, Okay, I guess we'll just get right
- 26:25Speaker 1: to it. I'm with Caroline Carroll and jac Over at
- 26:29Speaker 1: U t A. And you know what, I fucking hate him.
- 26:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:32Speaker 2: No, I feel that truth. I feel that. I feel
- 26:35Speaker 2: that I feel that hating your team. I've been there.
- 26:37Speaker 2: I've been there, and that's why I only have one
- 26:40Speaker 2: person working for me. And that's my manager.
- 26:42Speaker 4: Right right, I'm with Mattel and Maddie and matt At
- 26:45Speaker 4: and I hate every single fucking one of them.
- 26:48Speaker 2: You guys, I really say, maybe talk to my manager,
- 26:50Speaker 2: doctor Joe Brown.
- 26:52Speaker 1: She is fantastic, that famous dermatologist.
- 26:58Speaker 2: She's my manager. I go for some facial care. She said,
- 27:01Speaker 2: who are you with? And I said, right now, I'm
- 27:03Speaker 2: with these people. Don't get in steen the She said,
- 27:07Speaker 2: drop them. I will manage you. And I said, you're dermatologist.
- 27:11Speaker 2: She said, I know, don't tell me. I don't know
- 27:13Speaker 2: about the business. And she's been great. I haven't worked
- 27:16Speaker 2: since much of a month, but she has been absolutely fantastic.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Right because she's I mean, it sounds like she is
- 27:23Speaker 1: like a like an absolute shark. I mean the way
- 27:26Speaker 1: that she turns down every project that comes across your desk, like.
- 27:30Speaker 2: With vehement detect. She goes, no, you're not doing that,
- 27:34Speaker 2: and I go maybe. She goes, this is not a
- 27:36Speaker 2: good look for you. This is not a good look
- 27:39Speaker 2: for you.
- 27:39Speaker 1: She made a dime off you.
- 27:41Speaker 2: I pay her ten percent of royalties, so yeah, and
- 27:43Speaker 2: I also pay her for you know, dermatology stuff.
- 27:46Speaker 3: That's a good life. Then you're giving her a good life.
- 27:48Speaker 2: So she gets ten percent. And also every time I
- 27:50Speaker 2: go into her office, I get charged in dermatology, Like
- 27:53Speaker 2: she's doing my face, so we'll talk about the bait.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Is she'll clean up my face a little bit. It's
- 27:56Speaker 2: actually great, that's incredible.
- 27:58Speaker 5: Yeah, well it's hard for me, guys, because I have
- 28:02Speaker 5: I have a modeling team and an acting team. And
- 28:04Speaker 5: my acting team, you know, is also my publicist, also
- 28:06Speaker 5: my entertainment lawyer.
- 28:07Speaker 3: It's everybody. And then the model team is the same way.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Well you have. I mean you said that you're modeling
- 28:13Speaker 1: like your entire family, Like that's a modeling family business.
- 28:16Speaker 1: You said, sure, And so I mean did they all
- 28:18Speaker 1: know you beforehand? Like did they? Yeah?
- 28:20Speaker 3: You know, I mean I grew up. I grew up
- 28:23Speaker 3: on the sidelines at New York Fashion Week. I grew
- 28:25Speaker 3: up there.
- 28:25Speaker 5: I grew up on those steps of fashion Week, the
- 28:28Speaker 5: steps of fashion week where I grew up.
- 28:31Speaker 3: And I think it just yeah, it was in my bones.
- 28:34Speaker 3: So I am my team.
- 28:36Speaker 5: My modeling team has been the same team since I
- 28:38Speaker 5: was a kid. So we just acquired ten more every time.
- 28:42Speaker 5: So my modeling team is about fifty to sixty people.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Holy smokes.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Wow.
- 28:47Speaker 5: Yeah, and my acting team is Jenna, Julia and.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Juliet Oh at untitled. I heard those triplets are amazing
- 28:59Speaker 2: a good girls.
- 29:00Speaker 3: The we're good girls.
- 29:01Speaker 1: The way you've talked about their their representations, strategy as
- 29:04Speaker 1: Julie winds them, Juliette dines them and Julia sixty nine
- 29:08Speaker 1: is them, And I think.
- 29:09Speaker 4: That that tough us to wine. I mean, I'd get hungry.
- 29:16Speaker 2: That's that's good, that's classic. That's a classic. Will Let's
- 29:20Speaker 2: talk about Yeah, let's get let's talk about you know,
- 29:23Speaker 2: kind of off offset antics. I mean, like I think
- 29:26Speaker 2: the fans really know. And it's been you know what
- 29:28Speaker 2: how many years? Ten?
- 29:30Speaker 1: I think we settled on four years.
- 29:32Speaker 2: I think we probably talked about, you know, what were
- 29:34Speaker 2: those offset hookups? We were when the camera wasn't rolling,
- 29:36Speaker 2: what was happening?
- 29:37Speaker 4: I think a lot going on behind the scenes. I
- 29:41Speaker 4: mean us four we were thickest thieves. Yeah.
- 29:44Speaker 1: We were spending so much time together, so much and
- 29:47Speaker 1: to the point where we sort of developed this like
- 29:51Speaker 1: four way enemy ship where I hated Goldie, Goldie hated you, Trent,
- 29:58Speaker 1: Trent hated William, and then William and Turn hated me.
- 30:01Speaker 1: And that was just for a season, you know, but
- 30:02Speaker 1: you can really see it.
- 30:04Speaker 2: But then it was fun because that's like this is
- 30:06Speaker 2: gonna maybe be Tami. But I know the fans love
- 30:08Speaker 2: it because then it switched and it was all about
- 30:10Speaker 2: fucking you know, and it was all about.
- 30:12Speaker 3: It was it was in the early day we.
- 30:13Speaker 4: Had a Fleetwood Mac situation going on.
- 30:15Speaker 5: Really sure, and what cast hasn't to be honest, now,
- 30:19Speaker 5: what casts hasn't Just like all hooked up with each
- 30:21Speaker 5: other at different times.
- 30:22Speaker 1: And I thought that the writers sort of kept that.
- 30:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought that was I love when they started
- 30:27Speaker 4: writing that. I mean, I think what was really difficult
- 30:30Speaker 4: and I and I think about that a lot was
- 30:32Speaker 4: you know, Sarah and I were married in season we
- 30:38Speaker 4: were behind the scenes married to each other season three,
- 30:41Speaker 4: got divorced season five, and then they started writing love
- 30:46Speaker 4: interest kind of story between.
- 30:47Speaker 3: Us almost right after we signed the divorce paper, right.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I mean, Elkin was a dog and he really wanted
- 30:52Speaker 1: you guys to get together. He really thought that you
- 30:54Speaker 1: guys were perfect match.
- 30:56Speaker 4: Well, him and Sasha were married, so we thought it
- 30:58Speaker 4: didn't make sense that, you know, I wasn't with Sarah.
- 31:02Speaker 4: But I'm gonna speak frankly, Sarah, our house was toxic, right.
- 31:06Speaker 4: We lived a really really unhealthy lifestyle, and we were
- 31:11Speaker 4: on each other in a really.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Nasty way, a nasty nasty.
- 31:15Speaker 4: It was a nasty, nasty experience.
- 31:20Speaker 2: And I just want to say, now, like I have
- 31:22Speaker 2: permission to, I'm sorry for getting in the middle of
- 31:25Speaker 2: it a couple of times.
- 31:25Speaker 5: No, it's fine, and I don't even want to get there.
- 31:29Speaker 5: I'll say, like, I'll just say nasty nasty.
- 31:34Speaker 4: That's all we can say.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Nasty.
- 31:37Speaker 4: Yeah, and I'll agree with you. It was nasty, nasty
- 31:40Speaker 4: and nasty nasty.
- 31:42Speaker 5: And that led us into the season that all four
- 31:44Speaker 5: of us never spoke.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that was really interesting. I don't know if the
- 31:48Speaker 2: audience noticed this, but we never actually ever had scenes together.
- 31:52Speaker 1: We all it was kind of monologued. It would be monologue, laugh.
- 31:56Speaker 1: And then they cut to a single of somebody else.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Of guest stars that season tons.
- 32:01Speaker 4: Somebody just made a YouTube video. I think three weeks
- 32:04Speaker 4: ago my assistant showed me this. Uh, somebody has finally
- 32:08Speaker 4: put it together. They said, have you noted a season
- 32:10Speaker 4: eight none of the characters in the same room.
- 32:13Speaker 5: That was when our characters were all getting more really
- 32:16Speaker 5: just like fleshed out, I'd get my I have, I
- 32:19Speaker 5: have my nipple covers to make my nipples larger, right, right,
- 32:23Speaker 5: because they needed Goldie to have extraordinarily big and large nipples.
- 32:27Speaker 4: Yeah, and I don't want to speak to you, but sure,
- 32:29Speaker 4: I remember your nipples didn't show up on camera. My
- 32:31Speaker 4: natural naiple, god given nipples, my god.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Given nippleson didn't show up on camera. And it was
- 32:36Speaker 3: season four.
- 32:37Speaker 1: I mean, wasn't that a demand? They were between you know,
- 32:39Speaker 1: they were between you and Sarah Paulson, and they were like,
- 32:43Speaker 1: Sarah Paulson has like larger nipples than you, and so
- 32:46Speaker 1: that was like a big point of contention, like in
- 32:48Speaker 1: the early days.
- 32:49Speaker 3: And it was huge for my team.
- 32:50Speaker 5: It was huge for every one of us, where we
- 32:52Speaker 5: can't change this. And then by season four they had
- 32:54Speaker 5: finally figured out the science to.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Make my nipples bigger.
- 32:59Speaker 4: Right, Each breakthrough for huge.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Breakthrough for science for I mean, they're using that technology
- 33:04Speaker 1: on the moon now.
- 33:05Speaker 5: And I hate to be like because I'm a member
- 33:07Speaker 5: of a small team and I'm just a small part
- 33:10Speaker 5: of that, but it has changed the way we look
- 33:12Speaker 5: at things.
- 33:13Speaker 3: It's changed the way.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Changed the way we look at Nipples for sure, for sure,
- 33:16Speaker 1: for sure.
- 33:18Speaker 4: I wanted to ask you guys what your favorite episodes were.
- 33:21Speaker 4: You guys, when you sit down and think about that
- 33:24Speaker 4: was month to month, right, what was your favorite app?
- 33:28Speaker 2: I'll go first. My favorite app of all time was
- 33:32Speaker 2: Pistachio Season.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Pistachio Season, I Love.
- 33:37Speaker 2: We had that one episode about having Pistachio Season in
- 33:40Speaker 2: New York because my character we, you know, and make
- 33:43Speaker 2: a Missouri. We have big pistachio farms, and I wanted
- 33:46Speaker 2: to introduce this kind of life. It's like, you guys
- 33:48Speaker 2: don't know what Pistachio Season is, and you guys said,
- 33:51Speaker 2: uh no, and then the audience laught right.
- 33:54Speaker 1: We all said it in Unison. It was the three
- 33:57Speaker 1: of us.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Going, uh no, no.
- 34:00Speaker 3: I'm hot.
- 34:01Speaker 1: I'm laughing just thinking about it. Yeah, honestly, I think
- 34:05Speaker 1: about the one that everyone talks about, which is, of
- 34:08Speaker 1: course the Love Triangle episode.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Love Triangle Season, Love Triangle Season.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I was Love Triangle Season. That was where I would
- 34:17Speaker 1: bring I brought up, oh, it's Love Triangle Season back
- 34:22Speaker 1: in Los Angeles, and you guys were like, wait, we
- 34:26Speaker 1: went no, No, it was a it was a real
- 34:32Speaker 1: thing because I think that was all of us except
- 34:35Speaker 1: for Trent. We're in the love triangle for that first
- 34:39Speaker 1: half of the episode and then it switched completely.
- 34:41Speaker 2: That episode, I was dealing with my brother's death in
- 34:44Speaker 2: the show.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Right, they wrote you out almost completely, I.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Mean just for that episode because in the show, you know,
- 34:48Speaker 2: my brother you know, gets hit by that train a
- 34:51Speaker 2: couple of times and dies.
- 34:53Speaker 1: And it was really pivoting back and forth between romp
- 34:57Speaker 1: sort of sex comedy and then deep sitcom, you know,
- 35:02Speaker 1: the teachable moment and the teachable moment. The lesson that
- 35:06Speaker 1: I learned was that sometimes people get hit by trains.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I've never seen that on TV before. I never
- 35:11Speaker 4: had amazing.
- 35:13Speaker 2: I've also never seen some of the sex stuff that
- 35:15Speaker 2: they did that episode on TV. Yeah, like when when
- 35:18Speaker 2: you were in the kite and then you were down
- 35:21Speaker 2: on the ground, and then you were in the middle
- 35:22Speaker 2: of the kite, right.
- 35:23Speaker 1: And a lot of that had to be you know,
- 35:25Speaker 1: it was kind of euphemism because they couldn't actually show it.
- 35:28Speaker 1: It was just all sort of implied. But we did
- 35:31Speaker 1: do like a full ten minute implied sex scene, which
- 35:35Speaker 1: I thought was crazy.
- 35:36Speaker 4: And you're revolutionary.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Offset you guys were hooking up too, we were at
- 35:41Speaker 2: that time. Offset Yeah, also it was a bit nasty.
- 35:44Speaker 1: I mean I think I caught you too at a
- 35:48Speaker 1: wonderful period in your divorce where you were sort of reuniting,
- 35:52Speaker 1: trying to make it work, but you were thinking, what
- 35:55Speaker 1: if we brought in a third and what if that
- 35:57Speaker 1: third was someone? What if our coworkers that we see
- 36:00Speaker 1: each and every day those.
- 36:02Speaker 4: Were good days. That was the good days.
- 36:03Speaker 5: That was good days, and we really thought it would
- 36:05Speaker 5: be the glue that puts it back.
- 36:07Speaker 4: You know. This brings me to my favorite episode Funeral
- 36:11Speaker 4: season where I remember it was that that episode where
- 36:16Speaker 4: my character needed to go to uh, I think fifteen
- 36:20Speaker 4: funerals in one day because his entire AA group died
- 36:27Speaker 4: at once the AA group was bombed or something like that.
- 36:30Speaker 3: And you brought bagels, I remember, or we made the
- 36:33Speaker 3: bag You.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Had to bring the bagels to every funeral because you
- 36:35Speaker 2: made a lot of promises, and.
- 36:37Speaker 4: Yeah, we had to close early and then we had Yeah,
- 36:39Speaker 4: I had to bring a play to bagels to fifteen
- 36:41Speaker 4: different funerals, and I had you guys dressing up as me,
- 36:44Speaker 4: and I remember it was there was one scene where
- 36:46Speaker 4: I was standing in an elevator surrounded by you guys
- 36:50Speaker 4: in your dressed exactly like me. And I remember they
- 36:52Speaker 4: played the can laughter for three four minutes after we
- 36:56Speaker 4: you know, somebody came in and then they said, hey,
- 36:59Speaker 4: table for Connor and then we all said, uh, that's me,
- 37:03Speaker 4: that's me, that's me. Yeah, that's me. Yeah, we all
- 37:06Speaker 4: said that at the scene.
- 37:07Speaker 1: That was another thing on all the T shirts that.
- 37:12Speaker 5: My favorite episode, I'd have to say was Slippery Locks season.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Slippery Locks Season.
- 37:19Speaker 5: I mean, it was just so silly at a nasty
- 37:22Speaker 5: time in my life.
- 37:23Speaker 3: We had so many slippery lots.
- 37:25Speaker 1: I mean it was paying homage to that I Love
- 37:27Speaker 1: Lucy episode of the Chocolate Factory.
- 37:29Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't keep up, but it's just a bunch
- 37:32Speaker 2: of salmon los.
- 37:33Speaker 4: Yes.
- 37:33Speaker 5: And that was when the the tag was I woke
- 37:36Speaker 5: up as a big fish.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Yeah, a big fish with huge.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Nipples and stilettos.
- 37:42Speaker 2: You were so hot ash Oh it got I think
- 37:45Speaker 2: it got me going.
- 37:46Speaker 3: I think I got worried.
- 37:47Speaker 1: I think it got me going.
- 37:49Speaker 5: I got worried when we got this scene and it
- 37:51Speaker 5: was like, oh, they all have so much locks that
- 37:54Speaker 5: Goldie turns into a locks, right, And I remember being
- 37:58Speaker 5: like will that fish hot?
- 38:00Speaker 1: I was worried, right.
- 38:03Speaker 5: I think what's crazy about working on a sitcom is
- 38:05Speaker 5: we all have our thing, right, and it's weird, especially
- 38:09Speaker 5: when you do.
- 38:09Speaker 3: Other shows or other movies.
- 38:11Speaker 5: It's like you get really involved with playing characters with
- 38:15Speaker 5: that thing, you know what I mean, Like it's yeah.
- 38:18Speaker 1: And I mean speaking to your career after this, I
- 38:23Speaker 1: mean just a stark departure from Goldie. You sort of
- 38:27Speaker 1: started playing these these matronly old characters like you were
- 38:32Speaker 1: I believe thirty five at the time or so, and
- 38:34Speaker 1: you'd switch to grandpa roles almost immediately.
- 38:36Speaker 5: Yes, I started doing nurses, older nurses, caregivers.
- 38:41Speaker 4: I love Mother Teresa's last year, that movie you.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Did, and congratulations on your oscar by the way, by
- 38:46Speaker 1: the way, by the way.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 38:48Speaker 5: No, I mean I did my thing, which was our thing,
- 38:52Speaker 5: and I did my Goldie thing, which was a hot,
- 38:54Speaker 5: hot woman. And then at some point when the show ended,
- 38:57Speaker 5: it was just like everything just flow flew off of me,
- 39:00Speaker 5: and I was like, suddenly, she's gone.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Right because they took your nipples away.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Yes, because yeah they were.
- 39:07Speaker 1: It was not rental.
- 39:08Speaker 4: They didn't let you keep them.
- 39:10Speaker 3: No, No, And I didn't want them. I didn't want them.
- 39:13Speaker 4: Here's a question that I think is a great one
- 39:14Speaker 4: to wrap up on because I am getting the signal
- 39:16Speaker 4: from Gordon and Gordon, if you wave that fingerrabb me
- 39:19Speaker 4: one more time, I'll cut it off on the way home.
- 39:21Speaker 4: But one thing that I always get on Twitter, people
- 39:25Speaker 4: are messaging me all the time, what do you think
- 39:27Speaker 4: your characters for month to month are doing? Now?
- 39:30Speaker 2: That's great?
- 39:31Speaker 4: I think Connor. I think Connor works at a rehab center,
- 39:35Speaker 4: I think, and I hope you know, I guess I
- 39:37Speaker 4: could see what Elkin is doing, which is nothing because
- 39:39Speaker 4: he's fucking dead.
- 39:40Speaker 1: But and rest in peace, by the way, right right.
- 39:45Speaker 4: Rest in peace to Elkin. You live such a struggle
- 39:49Speaker 4: of a life and we miss you every day.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Hey, I miss you too, Elkin.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Okay, we're all saying we miss it. You don't have
- 40:01Speaker 4: to single out that you specifically miss well. I'm just
- 40:05Speaker 4: saying that we can all say that we missed it. Man.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Okay, one, two, three?
- 40:11Speaker 4: Great?
- 40:12Speaker 1: Love that.
- 40:12Speaker 2: What do you what do you think Sandy's he for ones?
- 40:15Speaker 1: Oh? Sandy, you know, I think she took over the
- 40:18Speaker 1: bagel shop. I think that was ultimately her passion.
- 40:21Speaker 3: That's a surfer girl at heart. Baby.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Yeah, she she's I think she's you know, she's spreading
- 40:25Speaker 1: locks on bagels. She's spreading joy. That's what That's what
- 40:28Speaker 1: Sandy always did. And she because you know, the manager
- 40:32Speaker 1: character was Kathy was a bit uh in over her
- 40:37Speaker 1: head at all times. She was always yelling at us,
- 40:40Speaker 1: saying crazy old woman, things like why can't a fuck date?
- 40:44Speaker 2: And such a good actor.
- 40:47Speaker 1: She was such a good actor. Rest in peace to
- 40:50Speaker 1: uh Mariah Carey, right, Carrie.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Spelt Maria spelt Maria spelled Maria and then carry with
- 41:00Speaker 2: a care She had such a big life. We were like, Mariah,
- 41:03Speaker 2: we got to call you Mariah carreyh.
- 41:05Speaker 1: And you know, she dropped dead the moment the show
- 41:08Speaker 1: stopped airing, and so I.
- 41:12Speaker 2: Stopped.
- 41:13Speaker 1: She was old and so yeah, I think Sandy would
- 41:15Speaker 1: have taken her place.
- 41:16Speaker 4: Do you guys remember that? You guys remember that our
- 41:21Speaker 4: director Jimmy gild cut and PLoP on the ground.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Right, It was so but we were just so we
- 41:27Speaker 2: were bowing. We just kept going on with it. None
- 41:29Speaker 2: of us even realized what it was.
- 41:31Speaker 5: Really because I remember the plot, we couldn't tell if
- 41:34Speaker 5: it was a body or one of my nipples that fell.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Yeah, because both fell basically PLoP PLoP, like what's going on.
- 41:41Speaker 4: We were so dense and the boards were so hollow
- 41:43Speaker 4: on that sound stage. Every time one of your nipples
- 41:46Speaker 4: fell off, it felt like a body was dropping to
- 41:47Speaker 4: the ground.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Earthquake. I also, I have a little bit of a confession.
- 41:53Speaker 1: I did notice that Mariah Carey was dead. But you know,
- 41:58Speaker 1: we were all having such a good time and the
- 42:01Speaker 1: show was such a special memory for everyone.
- 42:04Speaker 4: But I thought, you know.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Let's put a pin in this so light Russia.
- 42:08Speaker 1: You know, yeah, what is pointing it out? Going to
- 42:11Speaker 1: make her come back to life? No, so I'm going
- 42:13Speaker 1: to honor her memory by continuing to bow.
- 42:17Speaker 4: You know something funny, I something funny. I walked by
- 42:20Speaker 4: Mariah Carey's grave the other day and and you know,
- 42:24Speaker 4: at Forest Lawn you can drive by on the street
- 42:26Speaker 4: and I saw a bunch of deer eating the flowers
- 42:29Speaker 4: off of her grave, and I thought that was a
- 42:33Speaker 4: beautiful moment.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, where do you think Goldie is now?
- 42:37Speaker 3: My dear Goldie, my dear Goldie. I think she's dead.
- 42:44Speaker 5: I think she's just dead, because I mean, what the
- 42:48Speaker 5: show doesn't really touch on that.
- 42:50Speaker 3: You would if you knew about Goldie's life span. Is
- 42:53Speaker 3: that hot people live shorter lots.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Right, They're living fast and they're living hot. And this
- 42:57Speaker 1: show can I just say was plagued by death.
- 43:00Speaker 4: Yeah? Well, and that to be honest, Sarah, you know
- 43:04Speaker 4: that's one of the reasons I couldn't get close to you.
- 43:06Speaker 4: I said, I felt like I'm married to a great dan.
- 43:08Speaker 4: I feel like I'm gonna lose you, I know.
- 43:11Speaker 3: But now look at me.
- 43:12Speaker 5: I'm playing Nacho Leebrey's grandma in a biopic tomorrow.
- 43:16Speaker 1: He's the biopic of natal I've heard about this, sure,
- 43:19Speaker 1: it's the biopic of.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Jack Pack paying Nacho Librek. So it's a biopic of
- 43:25Speaker 2: Nacho Librek character. If in the world not your lepre
- 43:30Speaker 2: And I look at.
- 43:30Speaker 5: The body I once had as Goldie and I'm like,
- 43:32Speaker 5: she couldn't have play Nato Leebrey's grandma.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Well, I think Dougie now runs the bagel shop.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Hey what hm? What what? Sandy would have run the
- 43:48Speaker 1: bagel shop. I mean, Sandy would have run the bagel shop.
- 43:51Speaker 1: I mean, why would it be Dougie. Sandy would have
- 43:52Speaker 1: run the bagel shop?
- 43:53Speaker 2: I feel like Dougie left it a place where it
- 43:55Speaker 2: seemed obvious he was going to take over the bagel shop.
- 43:57Speaker 4: Hey, don't don't mind Trent and Rebecca. He's always I'm
- 44:01Speaker 4: not straining the pot.
- 44:02Speaker 1: No, I don't think there's anything funny about here. I'm
- 44:05Speaker 1: not laughing. I don't think there's anything.
- 44:06Speaker 4: Fun trying to I'm not trying to be his own self,
- 44:09Speaker 4: trying to do this.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Sandy had nothing else, Trent, Sandy had nothing else.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Well, what what did you?
- 44:14Speaker 1: Nothing else?
- 44:15Speaker 2: He was a failed actor, any failed actor?
- 44:17Speaker 3: And talking over her again, talking over her.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Again, talking this how it always goes down, William stirs
- 44:23Speaker 2: the pot and then I get in trouble. Okay, really yeah?
- 44:26Speaker 2: Why would not William me on set? Why would none
- 44:28Speaker 2: of you fuck me on set? I was hot, I
- 44:32Speaker 2: was kind of This is too nasty.
- 44:34Speaker 4: You're getting nasty.
- 44:35Speaker 1: I set you up a little lot. I set you
- 44:36Speaker 1: up with a lot of my friends, your friends.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Your friend, the woman from the Wendy.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Rebecca Walmart It you owe me fifty grand?
- 44:44Speaker 2: You do or fifty?
- 44:45Speaker 1: Are you talking again?
- 44:47Speaker 4: You owe me?
- 44:48Speaker 1: This is the boat was again brand We don't have
- 44:52Speaker 1: to worry about this and we were both on we
- 44:54Speaker 1: were hating only twenty dollars.
- 44:56Speaker 4: Oh yeah, well Venmo you fuck all of you.
- 44:59Speaker 2: By the way, Hey fuck you, fuck you noise boy,
- 45:02Speaker 2: William I swear to God, get off me.
- 45:06Speaker 5: What a great conversation for artists on artists on artists
