- 0:00Speaker 1: Chad, you know, when the SEC sues Lane Kiffin or
- 0:03Speaker 1: LSU or whatever, maybe they would consider picking up the
- 0:06Speaker 1: phone and dialing up Clay Travis Law. Accidents don't wait
- 0:10Speaker 1: for great timing there. One bad moment, a wreck, a fall,
- 0:13Speaker 1: a doctor who wasn't paying attention. Suddenly you're fighting an
- 0:15Speaker 1: insurance company that does this every single day. And that's
- 0:18Speaker 1: why Clay started Clay Travis Law. He's a Vanderbilt Law grad,
- 0:21Speaker 1: and he's built a firm around the idea that people
- 0:24Speaker 1: deserve someone willing to pay attention, ask the hard questions,
- 0:28Speaker 1: and push.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Back when things don't add up.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Experienced trial attorneys who bring the fight to corporations and insurers. Chad,
- 0:36Speaker 1: based in Nashville, trusted across this great country.
- 0:39Speaker 2: That's right, Hut. Car and truck wrecks, rideshare accidents, medical malpractice,
- 0:43Speaker 2: premises liability, product liability. If you were wrong, they want
- 0:46Speaker 2: to hear about it. And here's what they promise. Honesty.
- 0:49Speaker 2: They don't sugarcoat your case. You'll hear what it's actually worth,
- 0:52Speaker 2: not what you want to hear. The case evaluation is free,
- 0:54Speaker 2: no charge, no pressure, no hassle. Just tell them your story.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Go to claytravislaw.com Or call them at 877-222-4444. That's claytravislaw.com.
- 1:06Speaker 2: No case is too big or too small.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Chad, so the Titans have a deal with Kroger. Kroger
- 1:13Speaker 1: sacks for cash. And they donate $ 100 to local food charities.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Second Harvest, I believe.
- 1:21Speaker 1: $ 100 for every single sack on the season.
- 1:25Speaker 2: That's a nice donation. Whenever you have a good defense.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Arian Carter is going to donate the full amount of
- 1:34Speaker 1: the plane ticket, is that right, for every sack on
- 1:36Speaker 1: the season?
- 1:37Speaker 2: No, not sack hunting.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Tackle.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Okay. Every tackle. Arian Carter collects a lot of tackles.
- 1:43Speaker 2: He will be Tennessee's leading tackler. So are we talking
- 1:47Speaker 2: 100 tackles? I mean, it could be. He was suspended
- 1:50Speaker 2: the first game. $ 427 per tackle he's going to donate
- 1:55Speaker 2: to cancer research. Of course, the story with his girlfriend,
- 1:58Speaker 2: he cut his hair. That's fantastic. in honor of his
- 2:00Speaker 2: girlfriend who's battling cancer. This is awesome. You want to
- 2:04Speaker 2: talk about a way to spin a negative into a positive?
- 2:06Speaker 2: That's what Arion Carter has done. He's also done this,
- 2:09Speaker 2: and he's given a not-so-subtle middle finger to the NCAA.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I think this is a brilliant PR move. This is
- 2:15Speaker 2: very cool in terms of the charitable aspect of it,
- 2:18Speaker 2: of what Arion Carter is doing. And I will argue
- 2:21Speaker 2: this also, and it's not because I went to the school.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Tennessee's players are incredibly likely. This is a very likable
- 2:28Speaker 2: group of leaders on this team. We were around them
- 2:31Speaker 2: in Tampa at SEC kickoff. And Jeremiah T. Lander, you know,
- 2:35Speaker 2: Arion Carr, everyone that's on the leadership part of this
- 2:39Speaker 2: team is incredibly likable as human beings. And I think
- 2:45Speaker 2: Josh Heupel has done a really good job of developing
- 2:48Speaker 2: a culture of honesty and Right? Like he's not a big– Identity.
- 2:53Speaker 2: There's an identity with the player they want. Yeah, he's
- 2:55Speaker 2: not a big rally the troops type guy. You know,
- 2:57Speaker 2: he's not a big motivational speaker at times. He can
- 3:01Speaker 2: do that. But I think what you hear from recruits
- 3:04Speaker 2: that go to Tennessee and stay or that end up
- 3:07Speaker 2: picking Tennessee, it's, boy, I just like Josh Heupel because
- 3:10Speaker 2: he was very straightforward and honest. I didn't feel like
- 3:12Speaker 2: I was getting a sales pitch. I didn't feel like
- 3:14Speaker 2: he was sugarcoating things. I feel like I knew exactly
- 3:17Speaker 2: where I stood. And everyone on that staff was the
- 3:19Speaker 2: exact same way. And that's the way the players treat
- 3:22Speaker 2: each other and handle things. And I think that's a
- 3:25Speaker 2: big positive for Tennessee football. It's why they've had some
- 3:28Speaker 2: success under Josh Heupel, a big reason why. But Arion Carter,
- 3:31Speaker 2: I'm rooting for him. I hope he racks up a
- 3:33Speaker 2: bunch of tackles. I hope that he raises a bunch
- 3:36Speaker 2: of money in what he's donating for cancer research. And
- 3:39Speaker 2: also kudos to our fearless leader, Clay Travis, who yesterday
- 3:43Speaker 2: on the Clay Travis show said, I'm going to pitch
- 3:45Speaker 2: in $ 427 also, that he's going to match– what Arion
- 3:50Speaker 2: Carter's donating to cancer research. Very cool story. Hutton, we
- 3:54Speaker 2: get so many negative stories out there. This is a
- 3:56Speaker 2: really positive one. And it came from a rule that
- 4:00Speaker 2: was ridiculous. Yes. Archaic. An archaic rule.
- 4:04Speaker 1: 76 tackles for him last year. So that would amount
- 4:07Speaker 1: to 32,452. I mean, he'll be, I know he's missing
- 4:14Speaker 1: a game, but he can be more productive in this defense.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Well, he was hurt last year, too. He missed some time,
- 4:21Speaker 2: even with those tackles. That was a big reason he
- 4:23Speaker 2: came back, right? He went through the process. He took
- 4:25Speaker 2: the flight, and he got a bad report back from
- 4:28Speaker 2: the NFL saying, yeah, we don't like the injury situation.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Maybe go back and prove it for another year, and
- 4:33Speaker 2: that's what he's going to do this year.
- 4:34Speaker 1: He said he had turtled twice or both– something. He
- 4:38Speaker 1: told us that at SEC Media Days, I think. And
- 4:40Speaker 1: he still played in, what, 10 games with the injury,
- 4:43Speaker 1: which is not– which is not easy because you only
- 4:46Speaker 1: get better from that with long-term rest. I've never had it.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Eddie George had it all the time. That's what he
- 4:51Speaker 1: would say. He's like, you can't really do anything about
- 4:54Speaker 1: it unless you get to the offseason. And then he,
- 4:58Speaker 1: I guess the NFL said, hey, get back to the
- 5:01Speaker 1: season if you want to improve your drafts. I love it, man.
- 5:05Speaker 1: $ 427 for every tackle is awesome.
- 5:07Speaker 2: That's great. And it's in honor of his girlfriend, which
- 5:10Speaker 2: is even better. Yeah, I think it's a very cool story.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I hope he gets a bunch of tackles. And look,
- 5:16Speaker 2: fingers crossed he doesn't get hurt again, right? That would
- 5:18Speaker 2: be the awful part of this is if he comes
- 5:21Speaker 2: back and there's all this about free area on and
- 5:24Speaker 2: making sure that he can play and to fight against
- 5:27Speaker 2: the NCAA to get it from three games to one
- 5:29Speaker 2: game where he just missed the Furman game. And if
- 5:31Speaker 2: he comes out, he struggles with injury again, hoping that's
- 5:33Speaker 2: not the case, hoping the best for him and hoping
- 5:36Speaker 2: he can rack up a lot of tackles and spend
- 5:39Speaker 2: a lot of money to make a lot of money uh,
- 5:41Speaker 2: for cancer research. Very, very, very cool story there on Carter.
- 5:45Speaker 2: And on this show, we're a fan of giving someone
- 5:48Speaker 2: the middle finger when they wrong you. And that's what
- 5:51Speaker 2: he's doing to the NCAA. So also a big fan
- 5:53Speaker 2: of that. You know, it would be nice if the
- 5:54Speaker 2: NCAA wanted to, to, uh, to match this. Yeah. That's
- 5:58Speaker 2: what Clay brought up. He said they should, they won't. Uh,
- 6:01Speaker 2: he said, I'm going to match it. The NCAA should
- 6:02Speaker 2: also ensure they're a good sport about it, but certainly
- 6:05Speaker 2: they probably won't do that. They'll probably, you know, break
- 6:07Speaker 2: some rule by making a donation. Who knows?
- 6:10Speaker 1: Um, Chad, we'll get to Arch Manning whenever we get
- 6:13Speaker 1: to Hard Rock Bet and preview the weekend slate of
- 6:18Speaker 1: games across the SEC. Coming up, five players to bet on,
- 6:23Speaker 1: to just slide the chips in the middle of the
- 6:25Speaker 1: table and say these guys are going to have a
- 6:27Speaker 1: contract year to get paid the big bucks next offseason.
- 6:32Speaker 2: That's straight ahead. David Crockett was the king of the
- 6:35Speaker 2: wild frontier.
- 6:37Speaker 1: And Crockett Coffey, started by Clay Travis, Buck Sexton, and
- 6:41Speaker 1: Buck's brother Mason, is named after the great American and
- 6:45Speaker 1: great Tennessean. Hunter, storyteller, patriot, backwoods legend. And the logo
- 6:50Speaker 1: says it all. It tells you about the attitude here. 100%
- 6:53Speaker 1: pure Arabica. You've got the high altitude beans, small batch
- 6:56Speaker 1: roasted right here in America, Tennessee, the heart of the country.
- 7:00Speaker 1: It chips fresh roasted. It's not sitting on a shelf
- 7:03Speaker 1: at a warehouse for six months. And you've got the
- 7:05Speaker 1: light roast, Medium roast, which is called Blue Ridge. I
- 7:09Speaker 1: think that's what Chad would go with. Dark, decaf, organic,
- 7:12Speaker 1: even a mushroom blend. Whole bean, ground, or K-Cups, however
- 7:16Speaker 1: you make it.
- 7:17Speaker 2: In the morning. Blue Ridge is definitely what I would
- 7:19Speaker 2: go with, no doubt about it. Set up a subscription,
- 7:22Speaker 2: and it shows up on your schedule. Not theirs, your schedule.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Change it or cancel it any time you want, as
- 7:27Speaker 2: the free market intended. Free shipping on orders of $ 59
- 7:30Speaker 2: or more, and there's a discount for veterans. And Crockett
- 7:33Speaker 2: partners with Tunnels to Towers today. building mortgage-free homes for
- 7:37Speaker 2: the families of fallen service members and for catastrophically injured
- 7:40Speaker 2: veterans and first responders. Good coffee. Made in America. Doing
- 7:44Speaker 2: some good. CrockettCoffee.com. That's Crockett, C-R-O-C-K-E-T-T, coffee.com. I'm enjoying some
- 7:53Speaker 2: Crockett coffee right now. Hutton singing the Davy Crockett theme song.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Life is good. Football is good. I've still got this
- 8:00Speaker 2: right here for you. There you go. Look at that, man.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Look at old Fess Parker. Beautiful man. Beautiful man. Football
- 8:08Speaker 2: is back, Hutton, and we were winners last night with
- 8:10Speaker 2: Hard Rock Bet. Yes, we were. You've got some guys
- 8:13Speaker 2: in the NFL that are going to be winners this
- 8:14Speaker 2: year because they're in a contract season.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Hardrock.bet.clay is where you can go to play these futures.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Chad, you decide.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Do you want me to go 1-5 or 5-1? Let's
- 8:25Speaker 1: go 5-1. Let's mix it up. Here are the guys
- 8:29Speaker 1: to bet on in contract years. Tajay Spears. from the
- 8:33Speaker 1: Tennessee Titans. He's actually healthy going into the season. And
- 8:37Speaker 1: he's in the final year of his four-year contract. He
- 8:39Speaker 1: hasn't been healthy throughout his career in Nashville. And he
- 8:44Speaker 1: battled hamstring issues, concussions, different things. This is a great
- 8:50Speaker 1: spot for him with Dable. And with a quarterback that's
- 8:54Speaker 1: going to do the dump-off passes, he will be an
- 8:56Speaker 1: extension of the run game in the passing game. And
- 9:00Speaker 1: I would look for him to show off the the abilities,
- 9:04Speaker 1: not just getting carries, but out of the backfield with
- 9:07Speaker 1: both he and Pollard, I think they'll do some things
- 9:09Speaker 1: we haven't seen from a Titans offense in a while.
- 9:12Speaker 1: As long as he can stay healthy, he's cashing in,
- 9:15Speaker 1: take the over for whatever he's projected for in 2026.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Rasheed Rice, final year of his rookie deal.
- 9:25Speaker 1: When he was active last season, he averaged 18.8 fantasy
- 9:30Speaker 1: points per game when he was active. I would bet
- 9:34Speaker 1: on this dude whenever he plays. And here he is
- 9:37Speaker 1: in the lineup. We know that they've trended older in
- 9:41Speaker 1: Kansas City. Now they're trying to get younger again. This
- 9:44Speaker 1: guy can be the tone setter of this offense. And again,
- 9:47Speaker 1: check downs, he can take it the distance. He can
- 9:50Speaker 1: certainly take the top off the defense. And with Kenneth
- 9:53Speaker 1: Walker III there now in the backfield, that allows them
- 9:56Speaker 1: to be more balanced. I think he has a big year.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Brian Thomas Jr., in Jacksonville, wide receiver. Year three of
- 10:02Speaker 1: a four-year rookie contract deal, but year three means they
- 10:05Speaker 1: can negotiate eligible for the extension. He averaged 14.7 yards
- 10:10Speaker 1: per catch last year. 48 passes, 700 yards in 14 games.
- 10:16Speaker 1: He will get more than that. And most of the time,
- 10:20Speaker 1: Third-year receivers start to pick up on how to read
- 10:23Speaker 1: defenses and figure it out because they've seen these teams
- 10:25Speaker 1: a lot now. They've seen the defensive coordinator. So I
- 10:28Speaker 1: think this is the year for him to really take off.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Maybe a surprise. Kyler Murray in Minnesota. He's played on
- 10:37Speaker 1: a one-year contract.
- 10:37Speaker 2: He went from making like— How much Call of Duty
- 10:40Speaker 2: is he playing, Hutton, would be my question. Well, I
- 10:42Speaker 2: don't know. I know he's playing on a one-year contract,
- 10:44Speaker 2: but have they curbed his appetite for video games? What
- 10:47Speaker 2: I do know is he's not playing for the Cardinals anymore.
- 10:50Speaker 2: That's true. And he's got Justin Jefferson, who you drafted
- 10:53Speaker 2: in fantasy football, I believe. I did, 11th overall with
- 10:56Speaker 2: my 11th pick, first pick of the night.
- 10:58Speaker 1: He went from making like $ 50 million to now making
- 11:01Speaker 1: the veteran minimum in Minnesota on a one-year deal. He's
- 11:05Speaker 1: betting on himself. I just like players who do that.
- 11:08Speaker 1: And he's paired now with Kevin O'Connell, who did this
- 11:11Speaker 1: for Sam Darnold. So I think he made the right
- 11:16Speaker 1: decision because he identified a spot where he could go in.
- 11:21Speaker 1: He was kind of insulted that it was even a
- 11:24Speaker 1: quarterback battle, quote-unquote, with J.J.
- 11:27Speaker 2: McCarthy.
- 11:27Speaker 1: It really wasn't much of one. I think he went
- 11:30Speaker 1: in and just demanded he's taking the job, and he
- 11:32Speaker 1: won it without much pushback at all.
- 11:36Speaker 2: He's the guy.
- 11:38Speaker 1: And I want to see him play like he did
- 11:40Speaker 1: his rookie year, contract year, betting on himself.
- 11:43Speaker 2: I like it.
- 11:43Speaker 1: And finally, Puka Nakua. How can you not take the
- 11:47Speaker 1: over with him? He is going to get paid. This dude,
- 11:52Speaker 1: his salary with the bargain for where they drafted him
- 11:56Speaker 1: is insane. And he accounts the total targets, Chad, of 30%
- 12:03Speaker 1: of their air yards, of their offense. Matthew Stafford, Sean McVay,
- 12:08Speaker 1: and here's Puka Nakua, who does nothing but catch the
- 12:10Speaker 1: football and churn out yards. Take the over for Puka Nakua.
- 12:15Speaker 1: He's going to have a monster year, just like his
- 12:17Speaker 1: dating life.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Yeah, he's having a monster year in a number of regards,
- 12:22Speaker 2: for sure. Puka Nakua, the one thing that worries me,
- 12:26Speaker 2: we look at the top five again. The one thing
- 12:28Speaker 2: that worries me about someone like Nakua is he has
- 12:30Speaker 2: over-delivered on expectation and where he was drafted throughout his career.
- 12:35Speaker 2: So far, his young career, and it's like you get
- 12:38Speaker 2: to the precipice of now you're going to get the
- 12:41Speaker 2: huge payday, right? Will he do what he's done in
- 12:45Speaker 2: the past? I see no reason to think why not.
- 12:47Speaker 2: So I like him at number one. Tajay Spears interests me, Hutton,
- 12:50Speaker 2: because we were talking about this last night during our
- 12:52Speaker 2: fantasy draft. When was the first Titan going to come
- 12:55Speaker 2: off the board? Yeah. And I believe you took the
- 12:57Speaker 2: first one with Wondell Robinson. I did. I don't know
- 12:59Speaker 2: when it was. Exactly. It's like the sixth round or something.
- 13:02Speaker 2: This isn't a guy that I would think would even
- 13:04Speaker 2: be under consideration to be the first Titan off the board,
- 13:07Speaker 2: but you think that he's going to come through.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Yeah, just because he's going to be involved in the
- 13:11Speaker 1: passing game as well. It's a combo. Pollard is not
- 13:17Speaker 1: getting younger, right? I don't think he's like Derrick Henry.
- 13:20Speaker 1: He's a good back. He's a great pro, but he's
- 13:23Speaker 1: not the bell cow.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Both of them are.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Then you're going to have Tajay Spears.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Out of the backfield.
- 13:30Speaker 1: He was great in the preseason last year, and then
- 13:33Speaker 1: he hurt his hip or something, a hamstring. He was
- 13:36Speaker 1: put on IR to start the season, and then just
- 13:38Speaker 1: never got going because he would come back and have
- 13:40Speaker 1: a concussion.
- 13:41Speaker 2: They're going to get him the football. Just based on
- 13:43Speaker 2: what Dable's done.
- 13:44Speaker 1: In the past with his offenses and the running backs
- 13:46Speaker 1: out of the backfield, they will get him the football.
- 13:49Speaker 1: He's just got to stay healthy. Again, I would cash
- 13:52Speaker 1: in with him if he's on the football field. Puka
- 13:55Speaker 1: to Kujap. Total contract was four years, four million. There
- 14:00Speaker 1: are quarterbacks in the SEC right now making the same
- 14:03Speaker 1: amount in one year. His average salary per year, a million,
- 14:08Speaker 1: and his signing bonus.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Was $ 244, 000. There are quarterbacks in the SEC making what
- 14:14Speaker 2: he makes over four years in one year. All of
- 14:17Speaker 2: them are making more than a million dollars, most of
- 14:20Speaker 2: the big ones. It's crazy.
- 14:23Speaker 1: His salary cap hit is like $ 800, 000 on their salary cap.
- 14:25Speaker 1: It's insane for his production of 30%.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I feel like it's the same thing as when they
- 14:30Speaker 2: show how many college basketball players are going to make
- 14:33Speaker 2: more than LeBron James, who's making the veteran minimum this year.
- 14:36Speaker 2: It's always crazy. Mom Chilovich, the guy who transferred from
- 14:40Speaker 2: Iowa State to Kentucky, is making like two or three
- 14:42Speaker 2: times what LeBron James will make this year. It's nuts.
- 14:46Speaker 1: He's about to go from that to $ 60 million per year.
- 14:49Speaker 1: He'll be the highest paid non-quarterback in the NFL. So
- 14:53Speaker 1: my five to bet on, Tajay Spears, Rasheed Rice. Brian
- 14:58Speaker 1: Thomas Jr., Kyler Murray. I'm telling you, bet Kyler Murray
- 15:03Speaker 1: in Minnesota with the head coach in Kevin O'Connell. And
- 15:06Speaker 1: Puka Nakua, it's a no-brainer. There's your five to bet
- 15:09Speaker 1: on at hardrock.bet.com. Bet five, get 100 right now. hardrock.bet.com.
- 15:19Speaker 1: So you're down on Spears, maybe down on Murray just
- 15:22Speaker 1: because of the video games. But man, he's got some
- 15:25Speaker 1: weapons now.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Well, Hunt on YouTube chat says, with Tajay, I worry
- 15:30Speaker 2: about what our friend of the show, Jared Stillman, says. Quote,
- 15:33Speaker 2: hurt guys stay hurt. We've seen him be electric, but
- 15:36Speaker 2: he's hurt more often than not, and he's been less
- 15:39Speaker 2: than reliable year after year. I mean, he's got to
- 15:42Speaker 2: stay healthy. You said he's healthy now, but that's just
- 15:46Speaker 2: right now.
- 15:46Speaker 1: He's a lot like Jackson Dart, though. He's in the
- 15:49Speaker 1: concussion tent. So it's not like he's in concussion protocol
- 15:53Speaker 1: every single week. But when he goes to the tent,
- 15:56Speaker 1: he's out of the game for.
- 15:57Speaker 2: A quarter or two.
- 15:59Speaker 1: They're trying to evaluate him, the way this whole thing
- 16:02Speaker 1: works now. And he just never gets into rhythm. That's
- 16:07Speaker 1: the thing. He gets dinged a lot. And that's fair,
- 16:10Speaker 1: based on the comment there. I don't disagree. But man,
- 16:14Speaker 1: if he can stay healthy, I think he churns out
- 16:17Speaker 1: some yards. He'd be great in fantasy football this year.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Brooks in the chat says, talking about what Puka Nakua
- 16:24Speaker 2: makes versus some SEC quarterbacks and says, which is why
- 16:27Speaker 2: all these guys are fighting to come back to college
- 16:29Speaker 2: or stay in college right now. They make more than
- 16:31Speaker 2: a lot of NFL rookies do. Yes. You know, for
- 16:35Speaker 2: years it was, I got to get out of college
- 16:36Speaker 2: to go make money. So guys would leave early to
- 16:39Speaker 2: go pros. Now it's how dare you tell me I
- 16:42Speaker 2: have to leave college because of eligibility, because I'm never
- 16:45Speaker 2: going to make more money than I am right now.
- 16:47Speaker 2: And I know that because I'm not going to be
- 16:49Speaker 2: a top five or 10 coach. NFL draft pick when
- 16:52Speaker 2: they go pro. And that's the world we live in
- 16:55Speaker 2: where guys rightfully and understandably don't want to leave college
- 17:00Speaker 2: because they know that there's more money-making abilities in that
- 17:03Speaker 2: sport for them at that point in their career than
- 17:06Speaker 2: it would be as a young NFL player. Without a doubt.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I mean, the tight end, forgive me, I can't remember
- 17:11Speaker 1: his name. The name doesn't matter. Goes from Cleveland where
- 17:13Speaker 1: if he's on a practice squad.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah, Daquan Wright. Thank you.
- 17:16Speaker 1: He's going to make around $ 250, 000 probably. And that's not
- 17:22Speaker 1: terrible considering you're just getting paid to practice, right? And
- 17:25Speaker 1: in any game you're elevated to the active roster on
- 17:27Speaker 1: game day, you get the minimum salary for how many
- 17:30Speaker 1: seasons you've accrued over your career. So whatever the veteran
- 17:34Speaker 1: would get for that day, you get that that week.
- 17:37Speaker 1: And again, that's $ 250, 000 over 17 weeks. He goes back
- 17:41Speaker 1: to college and is making what? A couple million?
- 17:44Speaker 2: I don't know what it would be. But like Smith,
- 17:47Speaker 2: why was Jeremiah Smith?
- 17:48Speaker 1: What's he, he's making upwards of, he claims upwards of
- 17:51Speaker 1: what four or 5 million was whatever he, I think
- 17:53Speaker 1: put out there point being, you better believe I'm going
- 17:57Speaker 1: to be Van Wilder.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Yeah. And also like you do have to, I mean, look,
- 18:02Speaker 2: the NFL life is a good one and you make
- 18:05Speaker 2: good money to do it and all that. And you,
- 18:06Speaker 2: you have a lot of things provided to you and
- 18:09Speaker 2: you've been around, you know, the Titans facility for a
- 18:10Speaker 2: long time. You're not wanting for anything. There's food, there's snacks,
- 18:14Speaker 2: you know, There's stuff around everything, but you also do
- 18:17Speaker 2: have to be an adult, right? You may have to
- 18:19Speaker 2: hire the right financial advisor. You're right. You got to
- 18:22Speaker 2: go find a house on your own. You're going to
- 18:23Speaker 2: have help with the team and all that, but you
- 18:25Speaker 2: do have to do some things. You got to set
- 18:27Speaker 2: up your own bills. You got to do this. I mean,
- 18:29Speaker 2: in college, it is the best of all worlds. You
- 18:32Speaker 2: are completely in a bubble. You are protected by that program, right?
- 18:36Speaker 2: You were told when to go, where to go at
- 18:39Speaker 2: all times. Now you're not having to go find your
- 18:42Speaker 2: own classes because they're all going to be online for you.
- 18:44Speaker 2: for the most part, so you even take that element
- 18:46Speaker 2: out of it. College is such a transition period for
- 18:50Speaker 2: everyone in that you have some different responsibilities for the
- 18:53Speaker 2: first time because you're not in your parents' home for
- 18:56Speaker 2: most kids that go off to college, but you're still
- 18:59Speaker 2: a kid when you're in college in so many ways
- 19:02Speaker 2: because you're being helped. You're not a kid once you
- 19:04Speaker 2: get to the NFL, so you can make the money
- 19:07Speaker 2: of an adult if you're one of these players and
- 19:10Speaker 2: be treated like a child. In a lot of ways.
- 19:13Speaker 2: These are children, Chad. These are children of Louisiana. Yeah,
- 19:16Speaker 2: they even call them children in the great state of Louisiana.
- 19:20Speaker 2: It's really a great setup if you can get it.
- 19:23Speaker 2: There's hand-holding and coddling in the NFL, too. No doubt.
- 19:26Speaker 1: When we went to London, you were there with us,
- 19:28Speaker 1: the team had the passports. Some of these guys had
- 19:31Speaker 1: never traveled outside. Some players get into the league having
- 19:35Speaker 1: never really flown across country.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:38Speaker 1: And so they don't have a passport. The team takes
- 19:40Speaker 1: care of all that, expedite it. You know, like they
- 19:42Speaker 1: still wouldn't know how to.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Get a passport. You know, like that that's.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Crazy to think about um but you've got a staff
- 19:49Speaker 1: of 300 people in the building that take care of
- 19:51Speaker 1: them because that you know it's there's no different than
- 19:55Speaker 1: how they play on the field offense defensive schemes uh
- 19:58Speaker 1: they've snapped or they've clapped their hands now in a
- 20:01Speaker 1: shotgun formation they won't quarterback sneak anymore i i do
- 20:05Speaker 1: think that's one benefit to the college game just the
- 20:07Speaker 1: quality of the game which is is pretty good now And.
- 20:10Speaker 2: It's been that way for a while. But guys that
- 20:12Speaker 2: will come back, the Arion Carters of the world, not transfers,
- 20:16Speaker 2: but guys who are like, yeah, instead of being a
- 20:18Speaker 2: fourth or fifth rounder, I'm going to come back and
- 20:20Speaker 2: make good money and lead this team. That's where you
- 20:23Speaker 2: get three or four of those guys, and suddenly you've
- 20:26Speaker 2: got a side of the football that looks really good.
- 20:28Speaker 2: No doubt. Right, on offense or defense. That's what you
- 20:30Speaker 2: need to look good as a team, and it helps
- 20:33Speaker 2: the quality. It helps you pass the eye test. When
- 20:37Speaker 2: you're watching the college game with the quality of the players. 100%.
- 20:39Speaker 1: And that goes back to your point about the five
- 20:41Speaker 1: stars that are coming. If you can keep them going
- 20:45Speaker 1: over the course of two or three seasons, that's what
- 20:47Speaker 1: you're talking about. Being able to retain the talent that
- 20:52Speaker 1: they've recruited. Let's compare some fantasy football discussion and draft.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Draft was a lot of fun last night. Good to
- 21:01Speaker 1: see some familiar faces. And certainly be able to meet
- 21:06Speaker 1: some new ones as well. We've got a look ahead
- 21:09Speaker 1: at the SEC lines as well from Hard Rock Beth.
- 21:12Speaker 2: And, Hunt, we've got to jump to this with the
- 21:14Speaker 2: fantasy football thing because I did not know this until
- 21:16Speaker 2: logging in and looking through the rules. You can draft
- 21:19Speaker 2: a head coach now. We all found this out last night.
- 21:22Speaker 2: I've never done this before in my life. JT's got
- 21:24Speaker 2: to hop on and talk about this. He was completely
- 21:26Speaker 2: thrown by it when we get to the topic. I
- 21:29Speaker 2: was as well, and I had to go and look
- 21:30Speaker 2: at the point system and The point system is very
- 21:33Speaker 2: inconsequential unless you blow the doors off somebody if you're
- 21:38Speaker 2: the head coach, and then it becomes significant.
- 21:40Speaker 1: We'll do that, and we have the call from the
- 21:43Speaker 1: Dabo Sweeney Coaches Show as well. We'll get to all
- 21:46Speaker 1: that over the next half hour or so right here
- 21:48Speaker 1: on Hot New Withrow. You can see it there on
- 21:50Speaker 1: the screen, Nashville Balls. It's official apparel through XXXY Athletics,
- 21:57Speaker 1: founded by Jennifer Say, former national champion gymnast, former professional
- 22:01Speaker 1: Levi's brand president. She walked away from a corporate job
- 22:04Speaker 1: rather than say something she didn't believe, and she started
- 22:06Speaker 1: this company, XXXY Athletics. Instead, the mission, in their words,
- 22:10Speaker 1: is to empower female athletes and take a stand for
- 22:12Speaker 1: fair competition. And they call it the T that launched
- 22:15Speaker 1: a movement. This is real athletic apparel, Chad. This is
- 22:18Speaker 1: where you get the official apparel for the Nashville Balls.
- 22:21Speaker 2: You know what they say, Hutton, two balls, one love.
- 22:24Speaker 2: That's what they're all about with the Nashville Balls. Loving
- 22:26Speaker 2: each other, loving balls. That's what they do. And if
- 22:30Speaker 2: you love tees and trucker hats with Nashville Balls on it,
- 22:33Speaker 2: then you're going to love XXXY and the apparel they
- 22:36Speaker 2: have there. New customers get 20% off your first order
- 22:39Speaker 2: when you sign up and free shipping over $ 100. XXXYathletics.com.
- 22:44Speaker 2: That's xx-xyathletics.com. I don't know if you saw it, but
- 22:49Speaker 2: there's a video going around that just makes me laugh
- 22:52Speaker 2: of a woman, like an older lady, wearing an XXXY T-shirt,
- 22:57Speaker 2: maybe a Nashville Ball shirt. I don't know. But she
- 22:59Speaker 2: got kicked out of a Portland bar for wearing the shirt.
- 23:03Speaker 2: And I mean, every stereotype you would think. It's a
- 23:07Speaker 2: place that Jacob Swanson, our former producer, would visit. It
- 23:10Speaker 2: was the bar. The woman had the nose piercing, like
- 23:14Speaker 2: the bar through the nose. She had a mullet where
- 23:17Speaker 2: her head was shaved on the side. She's going and
- 23:20Speaker 2: trying to explain to the woman that she's being kicked
- 23:22Speaker 2: out of the place. And she's trying to be polite
- 23:24Speaker 2: about it, but she's not. She says, lady, I don't
- 23:26Speaker 2: want to have to call the authorities, but I will
- 23:28Speaker 2: if I need to. And she's going, will you wear
- 23:31Speaker 2: the XXXY gear? Which, by the way, buy the XXXY gear. Absolutely.
- 23:35Speaker 2: And feel free to wear it to a Portland bar
- 23:37Speaker 2: and dare them to throw you out. But she said,
- 23:39Speaker 2: why did you let me sit here and order drinks
- 23:42Speaker 2: and food from my entire group and get them, and
- 23:44Speaker 2: now you're telling me to leave? And she said, because
- 23:45Speaker 2: your clothing, your shirt is making the patrons here very uncomfortable.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Everybody here is uncomfortable with the shirt that you're wearing.
- 23:52Speaker 2: And I'm thinking... Good Lord, but it is hilarious just
- 23:55Speaker 2: because of the different stereotypes of everyone in this, what
- 24:01Speaker 2: appears to be a lesbian bar in Portland with the
- 24:04Speaker 2: signage everywhere, how angry they are at this woman. This
- 24:11Speaker 2: bar owner was definitely a bottom, is what you're saying. Well,
- 24:14Speaker 2: what I'm saying is that... She's a fan of the
- 24:17Speaker 2: Portland Plums. I could feel it down in my plums.
- 24:20Speaker 2: It's not a surprise that the lesbian bar owner doesn't
- 24:23Speaker 2: like balls, I guess is what I'm saying. If that
- 24:26Speaker 2: woman wasn't wearing a national ball shirt.
- 24:28Speaker 1: A lot of Subaru outbacks is what you're saying in
- 24:31Speaker 1: the parking lot there.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Afraid of the equipment is what we call it. I
- 24:34Speaker 2: think there's a fear of the equipment that we're talking
- 24:37Speaker 2: about when it comes to that and does not want
- 24:39Speaker 2: to be reminded of the equipment or what could be
- 24:42Speaker 2: the greatest WNBA franchise of all time and a dynasty
- 24:45Speaker 2: in the making of the national balls.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Don't you dare bring up in that bar the idea
- 24:48Speaker 1: of a glow-in-the-dark dildo either.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Oh, no. No, that would make them very uncomfortable. I
- 24:52Speaker 2: don't know. That could make them very comfortable or uncomfortable.
- 24:56Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Masturbatory fits at this very well. Um, let's, let's, uh,
- 25:02Speaker 1: recap the fantasy football league draft. We brought it back. Uh,
- 25:06Speaker 1: I have a great time with our, with our group that, uh,
- 25:09Speaker 1: certainly is back in some day one season ticket holders
- 25:11Speaker 1: and more. Um, The three of us, myself, Chad, and JT,
- 25:15Speaker 1: here are the grades based on ESPN. Now, they're doing
- 25:18Speaker 1: this based on the projections that they put out. By
- 25:22Speaker 1: the way, I love how.
- 25:23Speaker 2: We all three got, like, the algorithm is so tied
- 25:26Speaker 2: in to us personally. I think we all three got
- 25:28Speaker 2: different font and different look to the email that we got.
- 25:31Speaker 2: I'm like, I've never seen this visually, but this is
- 25:34Speaker 2: incredible to see the different looks that we all got
- 25:38Speaker 2: of our grades. What? Why would that be? I don't
- 25:41Speaker 2: know why that would happen. Well, it looks like JT's
- 25:44Speaker 2: in dark mode, maybe. I like yours the best. Yeah,
- 25:46Speaker 2: mine looks cool. Also, because I got the best grade.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Maybe mine looks different because I'm the only one. The
- 25:52Speaker 2: three of us. Okay, so you have Derrick Henry and
- 25:56Speaker 2: is that Justin Jefferson? That's Justin Jefferson, yep. Okay. Looking
- 26:00Speaker 2: at JT, you've got, was that Chris Alave, JT? Over
- 26:05Speaker 2: to your right. And then who do you have on
- 26:08Speaker 2: the left?
- 26:09Speaker 4: Is it?
- 26:09Speaker 2: I can't tell. Jonathan Taylor. Jonathan, thank you.
- 26:12Speaker 1: I'm far from my screen here. And then I went
- 26:14Speaker 1: Christian McCaffrey with my first pick as well. I've picked seventh.
- 26:19Speaker 1: I don't like picking in the middle of the first round. Chad,
- 26:23Speaker 1: I would prefer you picked a little bit later. I'd
- 26:25Speaker 1: like that because you get to double up pretty fast.
- 26:29Speaker 1: You can be strategic with it. It's a long wait.
- 26:33Speaker 1: no matter where you are. It was a 14-team league.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Here's the entire grades. I think the C grade is
- 26:39Speaker 1: the lowest. Yeah, lowest they'll give. They need to put
- 26:41Speaker 1: some Ds and Fs in here just to make this fair.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Somebody has to fail.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Well, and I don't know who Pretty Local is, but
- 26:48Speaker 2: I think that was the one person who auto-drafted who
- 26:51Speaker 2: maybe was in the draft. Yeah, I'll find out for
- 26:53Speaker 2: you right now. So you got three A's, okay? And Reno,
- 26:57Speaker 2: great friend of the show. Love Reno. He got an
- 27:00Speaker 2: A also. All this says is that these are the
- 27:03Speaker 2: people who follow the ESPN advice more than anyone else, right?
- 27:07Speaker 1: I will take up for Reno. Reno was very– he
- 27:10Speaker 1: had his own little game plan here because he drafted
- 27:12Speaker 1: with us here. He had his own method to the madness,
- 27:16Speaker 1: let's put it that way.
- 27:18Speaker 2: No, I'm not saying not to do that. That's not
- 27:20Speaker 2: a good strategy. I got a B over you guys
- 27:22Speaker 2: getting a C because I was probably closer to what
- 27:25Speaker 2: ESPN was telling me to do. I obviously didn't take–
- 27:28Speaker 2: the suggested pick every time I went off the board
- 27:30Speaker 2: a number of times and got someone, but it's, it's
- 27:33Speaker 2: basically taking the highest rated guy who's available. If you
- 27:37Speaker 2: do that closer to it, you're going to get a
- 27:38Speaker 2: higher grade.
- 27:39Speaker 1: I mean, uh, so pretty local, by the way, is
- 27:41Speaker 1: Jimmy Morris, friend of the show, of course. Um, let's
- 27:45Speaker 1: put the, put the names back up.
- 27:46Speaker 2: You don't mind.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Best name, uh, shout out, uh, Fred Jackson, the national
- 27:51Speaker 1: Sam's in honor of his son, Sam.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Um, I love you.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Keenan, Keenan, Keenan All Balls Allen is good. Asian Carp
- 28:01Speaker 1: Allen changed it to Allen's Astounding Team or something. But
- 28:05Speaker 1: he's changed it since then. I can't remember what he
- 28:07Speaker 1: changed it to. Benjamin Buford Blue is Catfish Jake. And JT,
- 28:13Speaker 1: you went well. The Tanky Tickles is good.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I like that one, yeah. No punt intended, I think,
- 28:19Speaker 2: was just the best generic, like, okay, here's a funny, clever...
- 28:23Speaker 2: A fantasy football team name. I really like that one.
- 28:26Speaker 2: You'll like this. So Toby is the trophy husband. He
- 28:29Speaker 2: got here.
- 28:29Speaker 1: He's like, man, no one's going to really know what
- 28:31Speaker 1: this means because no one knows my wife.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I was like, yeah. Hey, JT, can we get
- 28:38Speaker 2: a picture of Toby's wife ready to show everyone on
- 28:41Speaker 2: the screen and we can see what we're talking about
- 28:44Speaker 2: with the trophy husband? I think Toby would be okay
- 28:47Speaker 2: with that. We'll find a picture at some point and
- 28:49Speaker 2: post it on the show of Toby's wife so everyone
- 28:51Speaker 2: can understand what we're talking about. Uh, Oh, Chad, shout
- 28:54Speaker 2: out to his wife, by the way, uh, uh, Mount
- 28:57Speaker 2: Juliet's finest, uh, someone who's, who's from my hometown.
- 29:01Speaker 1: The, uh, the Chadillax in honor of, uh, John McClain,
- 29:04Speaker 1: who we need to still get on the show. Great
- 29:05Speaker 1: name about Juliet Chadillax is there. You, you need to
- 29:08Speaker 1: give a shout out to IAS.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Uh, yeah. Well done. Well done from, uh, I didn't, uh,
- 29:16Speaker 2: you told us Asian carp Allen also had a great
- 29:18Speaker 2: response to IAS that.
- 29:20Speaker 1: You could go with a different one? He said, instead
- 29:23Speaker 1: of we ass, just.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Say me ass. I love putting it in a way
- 29:29Speaker 2: that's like someone learning English as a second language would
- 29:32Speaker 2: say it. Like, how do you say me ass? Shout
- 29:37Speaker 2: out to Trevor. In response to my performance.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Shout out to Trevor Tiger at the top of the
- 29:42Speaker 1: screen there with his fantastic name as well with popping bottles.
- 29:46Speaker 2: I know you had a group live that was there
- 29:48Speaker 2: with you. Some buddies from years past drafting. Shout out
- 29:51Speaker 2: to JT. We got to bring JT up. JT was
- 29:53Speaker 2: very active in the chat. And I feel like at
- 29:56Speaker 2: times it was just me and JT talking to each
- 29:58Speaker 2: other in the chat. We were trying to provoke some
- 30:00Speaker 2: level of trash talk or jokes. And no one else
- 30:03Speaker 2: was participating but me and JT. Hunter chimed in occasionally,
- 30:06Speaker 2: but no one else. Both on computers for you guys? Yes.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Okay, if you're on a cell phone, you don't really
- 30:11Speaker 1: see the chat. And a lot of guys were just
- 30:13Speaker 1: on their phone. Because you're seeing the live draft board.
- 30:18Speaker 1: You would have to scroll and look at the chat.
- 30:21Speaker 1: I have my laptop up, and I would mention the
- 30:25Speaker 1: chat to some of the guys, whatever was being said.
- 30:30Speaker 2: They weren't seeing it. Jake's aloof anyway. But well done.
- 30:34Speaker 2: You were very active. It was very good.
- 30:36Speaker 5: I haven't done this in a long time, maybe since college.
- 30:39Speaker 5: But talk about the head coach. I mean, that just
- 30:43Speaker 5: threw me for a loop.
- 30:44Speaker 2: I set up the league.
- 30:45Speaker 1: It's just an option that you have. I've never done it.
- 30:48Speaker 1: I was just curious about it. where you draft a coach,
- 30:52Speaker 1: you can have one on your roster, which means at
- 30:55Speaker 1: some point you either have an open spot on their
- 30:59Speaker 1: bye week or you drop your good coach and hope
- 31:01Speaker 1: you get him back. I'm fascinated to see what guys
- 31:04Speaker 1: will do. You get a point for a win and
- 31:06Speaker 1: a negative point for a loss. So it's like a
- 31:07Speaker 1: bonus point if your coach gets a win.
- 31:11Speaker 2: It's more than that, though. JT, if you get a
- 31:13Speaker 2: 20 to 25-point win, I think it says you get
- 31:14Speaker 2: eight points. And then if you're 25 or more, it's
- 31:21Speaker 2: 10 points. So it's a big swing. Like a one
- 31:24Speaker 2: or zero is nothing. But if you can blow somebody out,
- 31:27Speaker 2: you get big points.
- 31:29Speaker 5: I drafted the head coach of the Cowboys, so I
- 31:31Speaker 5: won't have to worry about the eight-point bonus.
- 31:35Speaker 2: I drafted Eagles head coach was my draft pick with
- 31:38Speaker 2: the head coach. Hun, who did you go with? Diana Rossini.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Who will dominate? No doubt, yes. He was projected to
- 31:48Speaker 2: give me three points over the season. That's tough.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Hey, let's reminisce, shall we? We take you to 2023.
- 32:01Speaker 2: A simpler time, 2023.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Back whenever Dabo Sweeney was cocky, cock of the walk.
- 32:09Speaker 1: He wasn't going to take any crap from callers. Here's
- 32:11Speaker 1: the nice.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Davo on his coaches show at Clemson and he gets
- 32:19Speaker 1: a call after how many years in a row do
- 32:21Speaker 1: they have 10 wins I mean they were just boat
- 32:23Speaker 1: racing everybody and then Tyler and Spartanburg calls in and
- 32:28Speaker 1: is upset with the talent season and has this to
- 32:32Speaker 1: say we'll.
- 32:33Speaker 4: Go off to Spartanburg and bring Tyler into the program
- 32:37Speaker 4: Tyler hope that you're doing well you're up with coach.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Hey, thank you. I appreciate it.
- 32:42Speaker 4: I appreciate everything you said, Coach. Coach Winnie, it sounds
- 32:48Speaker 4: a whole lot like Tommy Bowden. And I'll tell you
- 32:51Speaker 4: one thing, Tommy Bowden doesn't make.
- 32:52Speaker 3: The same amount of money as you do. You make
- 32:55Speaker 3: $ 11. 5 million a year.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Not Bobby Bowden, Tommy.
- 32:57Speaker 1: We're paying you $ 11. 5.
- 32:59Speaker 4: That's second in college football, if I'm not mistaken. I'm
- 33:04Speaker 4: curious why that salary... has led to a 4-4.
- 33:09Speaker 3: And I know we're going to talk about, you know, just.
- 33:11Speaker 4: Being a couple plays away from undefeated and all that.
- 33:15Speaker 4: And I know you're a man of religion. I'm a
- 33:18Speaker 4: big fan, Coach.
- 33:20Speaker 2: A man of religion. I'm a big fan.
- 33:22Speaker 3: You categorize me as a, you know, being a 1.5%.
- 33:25Speaker 4: I was going to Clemson games and my entire family
- 33:29Speaker 4: going back generations.
- 33:31Speaker 3: Has been going to Clemson games before, you know.
- 33:35Speaker 4: When you're in commercial real estate.
- 33:37Speaker 3: So, I don't– I'm not going to accept.
- 33:40Speaker 4: Being in that 1.5 percent. And I respect the fact
- 33:45Speaker 4: that you're a man of faith. I'm curious if you've
- 33:49Speaker 4: ever read Proverbs 16.
- 33:50Speaker 2: You should be praying to God to have double-digit wins.
- 33:54Speaker 4: Coming for the fall, I used to– I was in
- 33:58Speaker 4: the military and I.
- 34:00Speaker 3: He's a prophet.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Please tell us more about yourself, Tyler. He's a prophet.
- 34:04Speaker 4: And so I couldn't watch all the games.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Tyler the Apostle.
- 34:09Speaker 3: But I always watched your press conferences.
- 34:12Speaker 4: Just for life advice, and I appreciated all that. Something
- 34:16Speaker 4: changed after 2018. You're humble, you're hungry, and everything. And
- 34:21Speaker 4: I always told people, man, David, just listen to his
- 34:25Speaker 4: press conferences. But after that, 2018 national title something changed
- 34:31Speaker 4: and there seems to be a lot of arrogance that
- 34:34Speaker 4: came in there was a lot of friends and family
- 34:38Speaker 4: I mean three of the ten on-field football coaches are
- 34:42Speaker 4: external experienced hires everyone else was an internal hire that
- 34:48Speaker 4: had no experience before or was a former player or
- 34:53Speaker 4: friend so I'm curious why are we paying you $ 11. 5
- 34:57Speaker 4: million to go 4-4. And it's not just this year.
- 35:01Speaker 4: It's been, you know, just the refusal to accept.
- 35:06Speaker 5: All right.
- 35:07Speaker 3: What's this guy's name?
- 35:08Speaker 2: Tyler.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Hey, Tyler. I've listened to enough of you.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Here we go. You can have all your opinions that
- 35:14Speaker 2: you want.
- 35:14Speaker 4: All right.
- 35:15Speaker 2: I don't know how old you are. Don't really care.
- 35:18Speaker 3: All right.
- 35:19Speaker 2: But let me tell you something. We won 11 games
- 35:22Speaker 2: last year.
- 35:23Speaker 5: And you're part of the problem, to be honest with you,
- 35:25Speaker 5: because that is part of the problem. It's people like
- 35:28Speaker 5: you that all you do is the appreciation, the expectation
- 35:33Speaker 5: is greater than the appreciation.
- 35:35Speaker 2: And that's the problem. And so, you know....
- 35:40Speaker 1: Chad, they went 9-4 that year. They finished 9-4. And
- 35:45Speaker 1: prior to this, with Dabo, 10 wins.
- 35:47Speaker 2: 11, 11, 10. Oh, yeah. I've got it here in
- 35:49Speaker 2: front of me. I mean, it's insane. 2011 on. Why
- 35:52Speaker 2: are we paying you? We go 4-4. I mean, it's just...
- 35:56Speaker 2: To answer Tyler's question, why are we paying you is
- 35:58Speaker 2: a great question. My biggest question is why are we
- 36:01Speaker 2: paying you? 2011, starting that season when he got it going.
- 36:06Speaker 2: These are the wins. 10, 11, 11, 10, 14, 14, 12, 15, 14, 10, 10, 11. 2023,
- 36:08Speaker 2: they won nine. They got back to 10 in 2024.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Got put out in the college football playoff. And in 2025, 7-6,
- 36:24Speaker 2: and now it's off to a bad start this year.
- 36:26Speaker 2: It's incredible. I mean, that's two national titles in there.
- 36:29Speaker 2: They lost in two other national championship games. They won
- 36:33Speaker 2: it all, Hutton, in 2016 and 2018. And then in 2019,
- 36:39Speaker 2: they got back to the national championship game. He's saying
- 36:41Speaker 2: that he was different after 2018. The very next year,
- 36:46Speaker 2: they went back to the national championship game. That's pretty good.
- 36:50Speaker 1: He said he was arrogant at the press conferences. By
- 36:52Speaker 1: the way, Dabo went on for four more minutes after
- 36:55Speaker 1: it cut off. And he goes on to say, if
- 36:57Speaker 1: you want the job, why don't you apply?
- 37:00Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. He says, you are part of the problem.
- 37:02Speaker 2: First off, I'm going to cut you off. I don't
- 37:03Speaker 2: need to hear any more from you. Second, I don't
- 37:06Speaker 2: know how old you are. Don't care. And yes, you
- 37:08Speaker 2: are part of the problem because the lack of appreciation.
- 37:12Speaker 2: I wholeheartedly bagged Dabo and that response to the caller
- 37:16Speaker 2: and what he was saying at that time. It's tough
- 37:18Speaker 2: for him to have the same stance now that we're
- 37:21Speaker 2: seeing more of a trend. Yes. At that point, there
- 37:23Speaker 2: was no trend like, hey, we're allowed to go four
- 37:26Speaker 2: and four. To start a season, you know, and they'd
- 37:28Speaker 2: turn it around that year too. But that would be
- 37:31Speaker 2: my response. Yeah, I don't like where we are right
- 37:34Speaker 2: now either, but also, you know, it's been pretty good
- 37:37Speaker 2: around here for a while. Right. And sometimes things happen.
- 37:41Speaker 2: But now we got more of a trend with Dabo Sweeney.
- 37:43Speaker 2: But everything that Dabo, all the stats we just ran
- 37:47Speaker 2: through Hutton. Right. And everything that he said to Tyler
- 37:51Speaker 2: is also the reason I have a hard time expecting
- 37:54Speaker 2: Clemson to fire the guy. Right. He's going to have
- 37:57Speaker 2: to decide on his own. I can't do this anymore. Yeah.
- 38:00Speaker 2: And just be tired of it.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Shout out to Tyler and Spartanburg, though. He's probably, what,
- 38:06Speaker 2: 20 years old now. Who knows? Tyler and Spartanburg also,
- 38:11Speaker 2: a big fan of religion. You know, I know you're
- 38:14Speaker 2: a man of religion. I'm a big fan of that myself.
- 38:16Speaker 2: But I wonder if you've ever read this verse. Yes. Yes.
- 38:19Speaker 2: A man of faith. I respect that. I love how
- 38:22Speaker 2: he keeps going back to that. But a big fan
- 38:24Speaker 2: of religion is not something I've heard. Doesn't Dabo quote
- 38:26Speaker 2: a Bible verse as well in his response?
- 38:28Speaker 1: I think he does. I think he brings that. We
- 38:33Speaker 1: should reflect on this again tomorrow. We should play the Dabo.
- 38:36Speaker 1: We can piece it together. It's seven minutes. Tomorrow we
- 38:39Speaker 1: can give you the first two minutes of Dabo's response.
- 38:42Speaker 1: On Thursday, we'll give you the next two minutes, and
- 38:44Speaker 1: then we'll close out with the final chapter. It's like
- 38:47Speaker 1: doing the Old Testament reading, the New Testament reading, and
- 38:50Speaker 1: then the Epistle reading of the morning at your church service.
- 38:53Speaker 1: We can give Dabo's response in three parts, Old Testament,
- 38:57Speaker 1: New Testament, and Epistle. It's like my elementary school, whenever
- 39:02Speaker 1: we were done with TCAP testing, we were just watching
- 39:05Speaker 1: movies in spots for 30 minutes at a time just
- 39:09Speaker 1: to get to the.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Summer of Tomorrow we will get the final 20 minutes
- 39:16Speaker 2: of Homeward Bound in elementary school. We'll finish that up
- 39:20Speaker 2: and see if those animals make it home.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Something you'll never see now. We watched the Old Testament,
- 39:24Speaker 1: the movie. It was just so long. I think that's
- 39:28Speaker 1: why we watched it. It was just so long.
- 39:31Speaker 2: You know, I mentioned I watched Apollo 13 recently. I
- 39:33Speaker 2: remember watching that in middle school. Yes. When I was
- 39:36Speaker 2: in middle school. And I'm watching the movie. I'm like,
- 39:38Speaker 2: there's a lot of language. There's a lot of GDs. Mrs. Doubtfire.
- 39:45Speaker 2: There's a lot of stuff that I don't remember, but
- 39:47Speaker 2: then we didn't think anything of it. The movie also
- 39:49Speaker 2: starts with Kevin Bacon making a sex reference to a
- 39:53Speaker 2: girl he's hitting on at a cocktail party. Do you remember?
- 39:56Speaker 2: It starts with him with the beer glass. You know
- 39:58Speaker 2: what I'm thinking of. So you duck this way, and
- 40:01Speaker 2: it's beautiful for everyone involved. And he's putting something inside
- 40:04Speaker 2: of the bottle to the girl, and she's like, oh, Jack. Like, man,
- 40:09Speaker 2: I don't remember watching this in middle school. I don't
- 40:10Speaker 2: know if I got the reference.
- 40:11Speaker 1: You triggered a memory and you know it. My grandmother,
- 40:14Speaker 1: she let me rent Jerry Maguire.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 40:17Speaker 2: And that opening scene or whatever, when you first, you know,
- 40:21Speaker 2: I'm looking around going up. My bad. I think that,
- 40:24Speaker 2: so I saw it, I got an advanced copy and
- 40:27Speaker 2: watched the VHS with another buddy without their parents. So
- 40:30Speaker 2: when my parents rented it, I wanted to watch it
- 40:32Speaker 2: with them. I knew exactly when to go to the bathroom.
- 40:35Speaker 2: I can tell you the moment Jerry Maguire, if you
- 40:38Speaker 2: are a child now that's going to watch this with
- 40:40Speaker 2: your parents, the moment you should get up and go
- 40:42Speaker 2: to the bathroom is when they're in the airport with
- 40:45Speaker 2: the little boy and he runs into Renee Zellweger because
- 40:48Speaker 2: it goes immediately from Renee Zellweger's face saying, boy, whoever
- 40:51Speaker 2: bagged him must be one classy broad. And it cuts
- 40:55Speaker 2: immediately to Kelly Preston riding Tom Cruise. You do not
- 40:58Speaker 2: want to see that moment with your parents. That's where
- 41:01Speaker 2: you cut a war. That's where you leave the room.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Or your grandmother. Oh, that would be way worse. It's
- 41:07Speaker 2: just something you don't talk about. I'm sure you guys
- 41:08Speaker 2: didn't discuss it at all.
- 41:10Speaker 1: She ended up cutting it off halfway through the film,
- 41:12Speaker 1: I believe.
- 41:13Speaker 2: She knew she was going to cut it off then,
- 41:15Speaker 2: but she didn't want to raise too much attention to
- 41:17Speaker 2: it to that moment, so she didn't cut it off
- 41:19Speaker 2: right then. She let it go another 20 minutes.
- 41:21Speaker 1: I remember asking her, too, what it meant in Mrs.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Doubtfire when Robin Williams said, why buy the cow when
- 41:25Speaker 1: you can get the milk for free?
- 41:27Speaker 2: She wouldn't tell me. I didn't know my kids love,
- 41:31Speaker 2: my kids love Mrs. Doubtfire. It's great. And there's questions
- 41:34Speaker 2: in that too, that we kind of skipped past that
- 41:36Speaker 2: part when she's trying on the dresses. Yes. And he's like, Oh,
- 41:39Speaker 2: this is a tasteful smock or whatever she's putting on. Yeah.
- 41:45Speaker 2: All right. Red, red screams. Harlot, I think is what
- 41:48Speaker 2: he says to her when she puts on the tiny
- 41:50Speaker 2: red dress. Oh man.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Uh, coming up hard rock bets. Week two, SEC lines.
- 41:57Speaker 1: We give you the power lines straight ahead here on
- 41:59Speaker 1: Hutton & Withrow. Get some bonus bets right now. Get
- 42:03Speaker 1: some bonus cash with Hard Rock Bet. You bet $ 5,
- 42:06Speaker 1: you get $ 100 in bonus bets. This goes through October 4th. Hardrock.bet.clay.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Hardrock.bet.clay is where you do this. And football's back. Football
- 42:18Speaker 1: is back. SEC is back in action. Some really good matchups, Chad.
- 42:23Speaker 1: Let's take a look. Let's take a look ahead here
- 42:25Speaker 1: at our power line up for the SEC.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Week two odds. You just want to go in order? Yeah,
- 42:33Speaker 2: there are some good ones here to look at with
- 42:35Speaker 2: hard rock bets. Some good games in the SEC, too.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Missouri and Kansas. Missouri, a six-point favorite in that one.
- 42:42Speaker 2: You've got Texas A & M and Arizona State A &
- 42:44Speaker 2: M over a two-touchdown favorite. Oklahoma, Michigan out. Do the
- 42:48Speaker 2: Wolverines bounce back after looking so bad in week one
- 42:51Speaker 2: against Western Michigan? The Sooners only a five-and-a-half point favorite
- 42:55Speaker 2: on the road in that one. Georgia a big favorite
- 42:57Speaker 2: over Western Kentucky. Alabama and Kentucky the one SEC game
- 43:02Speaker 2: this week. Alabama a double-digit favorite on the road in Lexington.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Mississippi State, Minnesota. We talked about the depth of SEC
- 43:10Speaker 2: in Big Ten. This is where that depth is tested.
- 43:13Speaker 2: These are two teams sort of in similar spots in
- 43:16Speaker 2: their respective conferences. Mississippi State a road favorite in that game.
- 43:20Speaker 2: You've got Vandy, Delaware you can play. You got Tennessee,
- 43:23Speaker 2: Georgia Tech. The Vols, a 12.5-point favorite on the road
- 43:27Speaker 2: in Atlanta. You got Florida and South Carolina playing FCS competition.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Those lines aren't available. Texas and Ohio State. Texas, a
- 43:37Speaker 2: 1.5-point favorite in that game. So big-time matchups across the board.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Arkansas and Utah. Utah is a double-digit favorite in that one, Hutton.
- 43:47Speaker 2: But a lot of people are going to be playing
- 43:49Speaker 2: Texas and Ohio State with Hard Rock Beth this week.
- 43:51Speaker 2: I'm sure we'll We'll be placing a wager on that
- 43:53Speaker 2: one as well. Oh, yes.
- 43:56Speaker 1: I'll be honest with you, man. I'm taking the balls.
- 43:58Speaker 1: I'm going ahead and jumping all that. I think that
- 44:00Speaker 1: line goes up by the time kickoff rolls around. And
- 44:03Speaker 1: I want to back Arch Manning this week at minus
- 44:08Speaker 1: one and a half. The way he described the way
- 44:13Speaker 1: they played and the way he's played against Ohio State,
- 44:15Speaker 1: he's been locked in on this matchup.
- 44:18Speaker 2: And, you know.
- 44:20Speaker 1: We'll see what happens throughout the SEC slate for him.
- 44:25Speaker 1: But Ohio State's kind of been his Florida. You know,
- 44:28Speaker 1: like he just hasn't been able to get over the–
- 44:31Speaker 1: his performances have not been great. His first career start,
- 44:33Speaker 1: you know, like he wants to make amends for that.
- 44:36Speaker 1: I hope he does because the dude's got a pressure
- 44:39Speaker 1: just based on his last name. And now he's playing
- 44:41Speaker 1: this game at home. It's going to be fun to watch.
- 44:43Speaker 1: And the week two slate is legit. I'm excited for it.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Yeah, the one mystery with me with Tennessee is, you know,
- 44:50Speaker 2: Faison Brandon's first ever road game. He looked really good.
- 44:53Speaker 2: And Georgia Tech is very well coached. And Georgia Tech
- 44:56Speaker 2: is good defensively. You know, I think even against Colorado,
- 44:59Speaker 2: they're pretty good defensively. Their offense surprised me in not
- 45:02Speaker 2: really being able to run at all against Colorado. Tennessee's
- 45:05Speaker 2: going to have a ton of opportunities. If I bet
- 45:07Speaker 2: that game right now, I'm with you, Hutton, I'm taking
- 45:09Speaker 2: Tennessee to cover. Yeah. 12 and a half, 13 and
- 45:12Speaker 2: a half, whatever it becomes. As long as it stays
- 45:14Speaker 2: below two touchdowns, I think Tennessee probably wins by 14
- 45:18Speaker 2: points in that game somewhere around there. So I like Tennessee.
- 45:21Speaker 2: The other one I really like is Mississippi State to
- 45:24Speaker 2: go on the road and cover. Kamario Taylor is the
- 45:26Speaker 2: real deal. We saw him in Tampa walking around. And
- 45:30Speaker 2: that's one of those dudes you see like, who is that?
- 45:33Speaker 2: Because he is a big, good-looking athlete as a quarterback.
- 45:37Speaker 2: That video of him in their first game, dropping it
- 45:40Speaker 2: on a dime, where he doesn't even step with the
- 45:43Speaker 2: throw deep down the field. He's got an incredible arm.
- 45:46Speaker 2: He can run it. Jeff Levy's got himself a quarterback
- 45:50Speaker 2: at Mississippi State. I really like State to go on
- 45:52Speaker 2: the road and handle Minnesota in that game. The big
- 45:56Speaker 2: SEC game, too, I don't know how I'm leaning. in
- 45:59Speaker 2: that one. When you look at Kentucky and Alabama, I
- 46:02Speaker 2: think it's 13, Alabama's favorite in that one. I'm not
- 46:07Speaker 2: sure how I would lean in that one with Will Stein.
- 46:10Speaker 2: The first game looked how I thought. I thought they'd
- 46:12Speaker 2: win and cover the spread easily against Youngstown State. They
- 46:14Speaker 2: did in a game where you're coming out and you're
- 46:17Speaker 2: showing what you got offensively. Kenny Minchie threw for over
- 46:20Speaker 2: 300 yards in that game. He looked really good, very
- 46:23Speaker 2: efficient too. and you get a big home atmosphere, your
- 46:27Speaker 2: first SEC game as a new head coach, a guy
- 46:30Speaker 2: who's promising a lot of offense, I think that could
- 46:33Speaker 2: be a sneaky, really good game this weekend between Alabama
- 46:36Speaker 2: and Kentucky. Watch out with the Alabama fans if they
- 46:39Speaker 2: drop this game. Watch out.
- 46:42Speaker 1: I want to mention Texas A & M. Missouri State
- 46:45Speaker 1: was their opponent. I mean, they boat raced them. They
- 46:48Speaker 1: held Missouri State to 30 yards passing.
- 46:51Speaker 2: In this game last week.
- 46:53Speaker 1: 8 of 17, the final stats. 37 rushing yards is
- 46:58Speaker 1: what they held them to on 23 carries. That's incredible,
- 47:02Speaker 1: no matter.
- 47:03Speaker 2: Who you're playing.
- 47:04Speaker 1: 37 yards on 23 carries. I mean, at some point
- 47:08Speaker 1: you break a tackle.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm always looking at what do defenses do against
- 47:13Speaker 2: these overmatched opponents. Because if you have a game where
- 47:16Speaker 2: some team's got like 380 yards, you're like, what's going
- 47:19Speaker 2: on there? How does this little team, how do they
- 47:22Speaker 2: do this much against this team? And that's always a
- 47:24Speaker 2: bad warning sign about your defense. A & M looked great.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Tennessee's first-team defense, they had under 100 yards total going
- 47:32Speaker 2: into the fourth quarter. And then they got a touchdown
- 47:35Speaker 2: against the third-string defense for Tennessee. But that should have
- 47:39Speaker 2: been a shutout for the Vols, too. They scored on
- 47:42Speaker 2: very short fields on two fumbles with a field goal
- 47:45Speaker 2: and a touchdown. But I am watching that against these.
- 47:49Speaker 2: What do you look for? against overmatched competition. And one
- 47:52Speaker 2: thing I always watch is, did the starting defense suffocate
- 47:56Speaker 2: the starting offense of the other team? Or did they get,
- 47:59Speaker 2: even if they don't score a ton of points, they
- 48:01Speaker 2: get a ton of yards. Yeah. That's always one thing
- 48:03Speaker 2: I keep an eye on.
- 48:05Speaker 1: Let's mention as we wrap up, and we'll get to
- 48:07Speaker 1: more previews tomorrow, for Texas, everyone is backing LSU right now.
- 48:12Speaker 1: Everyone's on the Tigers bandwagon. We find out fast where
- 48:18Speaker 1: Texas is in all this. And they'll jump ahead, right? Like,
- 48:21Speaker 1: I mean, this is the defining factor of where we
- 48:23Speaker 1: kind of place them moving forward. And everyone has them,
- 48:27Speaker 1: not everyone, a lot of people have them as the
- 48:30Speaker 1: national champ. And meanwhile, everyone was giving a year for
- 48:33Speaker 1: Kiffin and how fast that changes over a boat race
- 48:37Speaker 1: win over Clemson. This would be a magnitude game for
- 48:42Speaker 1: Arch Manning. Heisman talk is going to happen. I mean,
- 48:45Speaker 1: this is massive for him.
- 48:47Speaker 2: And I saw Clay put LSU as his number one
- 48:49Speaker 2: team in his starting line, which I understand the theory
- 48:53Speaker 2: behind that. From what we've seen, they've looked the most impressive.
- 48:56Speaker 2: That'll change, right? If Texas handles Ohio State in this game,
- 49:01Speaker 2: Texas is then your number one team because they have
- 49:02Speaker 2: the biggest win of the year at that point, beating
- 49:05Speaker 2: Ohio State.
- 49:06Speaker 1: The next round is straight ahead. He's Chad Withrow. I'm
- 49:09Speaker 1: Jonathan Hutton. Thanks for joining us this morning. We're back
- 49:11Speaker 1: at it tomorrow morning, 8 o'clock Eastern. Hope you'll join
- 49:15Speaker 1: us then right here at Sporting State.
