- 0:00Speaker 1: Today's guest is a country singer and songwriter. She's my
- 0:03Speaker 1: Louisiana sister. She just released the deluxe version of her
- 0:08Speaker 1: latest album, Whirlwind. She's on tour now. She always is
- 0:13Speaker 1: up to something. I'm so grateful to spend time again
- 0:16Speaker 1: with Miss Lainey Wilson.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Shine on.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Me and I will find you.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Dang, girl, you got that deluxe coming out, huh?
- 0:39Speaker 3: Deluxe.
- 0:40Speaker 1: God. How many songs are on it?
- 0:43Speaker 3: I mean, it's five. But I'm already working on that
- 0:47Speaker 3: next record. I'm already working on the record before the
- 0:51Speaker 3: record's out. You know what I'm saying? Like the next one.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I feel like you're just working in the
- 0:55Speaker 1: past and the future.
- 0:57Speaker 3: That's it. What about this?
- 1:02Speaker 1: Hey. Oy.
- 1:06Speaker 3: It's like telling a ghost story.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that was the best. That kid that got under
- 1:12Speaker 1: there and told that ghost story.
- 1:15Speaker 3: With the flashlight?
- 1:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:16Speaker 1: And then there was always the one kid he couldn't
- 1:18Speaker 1: control the flashlight. He put it straight into your eyes
- 1:22Speaker 1: and you were like, God, this is a dang exorcism.
- 1:25Speaker 3: I just was thinking about it. Did you ever hear
- 1:28Speaker 3: any stories from the Myrtles in St. Francisville, Louisiana?
- 1:33Speaker 1: No. Like the plantation?
- 1:35Speaker 3: The plantation. I mean, my mama took her gifted students
- 1:38Speaker 3: down there.
- 1:39Speaker 1: She did.
- 1:40Speaker 3: And she got some weird stuff in her pictures. I
- 1:43Speaker 3: just thought about Louisiana.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. No, that's some of the kind of stuff.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I mean, first of all, being gifted in Louisiana, I
- 1:51Speaker 1: was in some of those courses.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Were you?
- 1:53Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, you just got the full alphabet they
- 1:55Speaker 1: gave you. I remember like regular ed, they were cutting
- 1:59Speaker 1: kids off at like M. I'm like, what in the?
- 2:02Speaker 1: You'd meet kids that could only, knew words that had
- 2:05Speaker 1: the first half of the alphabet in them. I was like, God,
- 2:08Speaker 1: you gotta.
- 2:08Speaker 3: That's some Louisiana stuff.
- 2:10Speaker 1: But then you'd get in that gifted class and they had, dang,
- 2:12Speaker 1: 13 more letters in there.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Dude, I was never in the gifted program.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Really? No.
- 2:20Speaker 3: I'm too AHD.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Oh, you did have it on.
- 2:23Speaker 3: I mean, I'm like, I never really got like diagnosed
- 2:25Speaker 3: with it, but I absolutely know that I'm like, squirrel, squirrel, squirrel.
- 2:30Speaker 3: You know, I was thinking about I wasn't thinking about
- 2:33Speaker 3: spelling and reading.
- 2:34Speaker 1: No. You had 4-H-D-H-D, I think. You know what I'm saying?
- 2:38Speaker 3: I like that.
- 2:39Speaker 1: That's a real kind of rural version.
- 2:41Speaker 3: That's it. That's what I'm going to call it.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't pay attention, but you'll pet something if
- 2:45Speaker 1: it shows up.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Me and my sister, we did show horses.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I bet there's a— We'd walk out there like this.
- 2:52Speaker 1: What is that?
- 2:53Speaker 3: This is like you're holding right there at the bit.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Yeah. And then so you walk out like this and
- 3:01Speaker 3: then you have to get all four of their feet
- 3:03Speaker 3: lined up. And my horse half the time was a
- 3:06Speaker 3: pain in the ass. But I think I got like
- 3:09Speaker 3: first runner up, something like that.
- 3:11Speaker 2: God.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Yeah, they didn't have that.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Were you in 4-H?
- 3:16Speaker 1: No, I was not.
- 3:17Speaker 3: You weren't.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I was not in it. I think something happened in
- 3:20Speaker 1: our area got discontinued for a year or something. I
- 3:22Speaker 1: think the barn sunk or wherever they were running it
- 3:24Speaker 1: out of. They had a dang infestation over there or something.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Or termites. I mean, a bad batch of termites came.
- 3:31Speaker 3: That's some Covington stuff, huh?
- 3:33Speaker 1: Oh, they took that thing down in a night, that barn.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And they left town. See ya. Yeah, those things were full.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I was like, how'd y'all not see them leaving? They
- 3:43Speaker 1: ate all that wood? They ate all that wood and
- 3:47Speaker 1: just took off, you know?
- 3:48Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 3:49Speaker 1: It was that kind of thing. Show horses. I bet
- 3:51Speaker 1: there's a, because a lot of women put in extra hair.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Do you ever have to do it or no?
- 3:56Speaker 3: Put in extra hair?
- 3:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:57Speaker 3: On me?
- 3:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:59Speaker 4: Yes.
- 4:01Speaker 3: You think this is mine?
- 4:02Speaker 1: I can never tell.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Is that all yours? It is. That's it. You got
- 4:08Speaker 3: that good hair.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Well, it's coming and going.
- 4:09Speaker 3: You still got all your hair.
- 4:11Speaker 1: It's coming and going, honey. Something will happen. I'm sure.
- 4:14Speaker 3: I'll probably lose mine before you lose yours. You know,
- 4:16Speaker 3: that's just how it goes. That is not true.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I bet there's a horse out there that is so
- 4:21Speaker 1: happy you are wearing its hair.
- 4:22Speaker 3: I hope so. I hope so.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I bet there is just a.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I have a horse who's turning 31 this year.
- 4:31Speaker 1: No, you don't.
- 4:32Speaker 3: 31, Tex.
- 4:33Speaker 1: And how is he?
- 4:35Speaker 3: He's good, but I think I just got the last
- 4:37Speaker 3: ride on him.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Oh.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Was he in your 4x4 video or no?
- 4:43Speaker 3: No, that wasn't him. No, he's in Louisiana.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:47Speaker 3: I don't know if any of these pictures right here
- 4:49Speaker 3: are Tex. The one that looks the closest to him
- 4:51Speaker 3: is that one right there.
- 4:54Speaker 1: God, he's beautiful, huh?
- 4:56Speaker 3: Yes, he is. I got him when I was nine
- 4:57Speaker 3: years old. And taught me a lot.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Did he?
- 5:01Speaker 3: Taught me a lot. He did. I mean, how to
- 5:05Speaker 3: stay in the saddle, you know? I mean, he was
- 5:08Speaker 3: not broke. That's him right there. Oh. That's in 2020
- 5:13Speaker 3: back in Louisiana.
- 5:14Speaker 1: He's 31? 31. My God, he's got to be getting
- 5:19Speaker 1: a pension now, huh?
- 5:20Speaker 3: He better be. He better be. If not, we better
- 5:24Speaker 3: talk about it.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Oh, that's awesome. Yeah.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Oh, Tex.
- 5:30Speaker 1: And did your sister have a horse, too, or no? Yep.
- 5:32Speaker 3: She did. Hollywood and their best buddies. And he's, I
- 5:37Speaker 3: think he might be like a year or two younger
- 5:39Speaker 3: than Tex, but they hang out in the pasture. I mean,
- 5:41Speaker 3: they are like, you can't separate them.
- 5:44Speaker 1: God, maybe they met online or whatever.
- 5:46Speaker 3: They probably did.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I would like to get a horse
- 5:51Speaker 1: as soon as I get a family or something. I'm
- 5:53Speaker 1: going to get me a little horse. Okay. Okay.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Where are you going to put it?
- 5:56Speaker 1: Is that what I'm going to do? Probably... In the yard,
- 5:59Speaker 1: I guess. In the front yard?
- 6:02Speaker 3: No. That's also some Louisiana shit. Fence in the whole house.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah, dude. You have a horse in the front yard.
- 6:12Speaker 1: You live on a quarter acre and you got a horse.
- 6:14Speaker 3: At least you got a horse.
- 6:18Speaker 1: God, dude. Yeah, I do miss being in Louisiana a
- 6:20Speaker 1: lot of times. It gets interesting as your life changes
- 6:22Speaker 1: when you get outside of there. Do you notice it
- 6:25Speaker 1: feels slower when you go back now?
- 6:27Speaker 3: Oh, yes. 100%. Even just calling mama and daddy back
- 6:30Speaker 3: at home. That's why I do call and FaceTime my
- 6:35Speaker 3: family so much. I just kind of, you know, you
- 6:39Speaker 3: think about the fast pace of all of this. I mean,
- 6:43Speaker 3: it is like life is constantly changing every single day.
- 6:45Speaker 3: It's probably the same way for you. But it's important
- 6:49Speaker 3: for me to just call back and kind of, that's
- 6:52Speaker 3: what kind of plants my feet on the ground. FaceTiming
- 6:55Speaker 3: my nephews who Don't think I am cool at all.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:59Speaker 3: I'm talking about the oldest one. He's six years old.
- 7:04Speaker 3: And the teacher asked the other day, they were talking
- 7:08Speaker 3: about like the farming way of life and the country
- 7:11Speaker 3: living life and all that stuff. And somehow country music
- 7:14Speaker 3: got brought up. And she was like, does anybody in
- 7:17Speaker 3: here like country music? And Knox, he's in the back
- 7:21Speaker 3: of class and he's just like, you know, not raising
- 7:24Speaker 3: his hand. And she's like, Knox, you don't like country music?
- 7:26Speaker 3: And he goes, Not really. And then she goes, if
- 7:31Speaker 3: you had to choose a favorite, who would it be?
- 7:33Speaker 3: And he said, well, I guess my Aunt Lainey. Why
- 7:37Speaker 3: are you a little asshole?
- 7:39Speaker 1: Forced to do it.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Forced. There's nothing I could do that would make them
- 7:43Speaker 3: think that I'm cool.
- 7:44Speaker 1: A couple more number ones. I mean, I don't know
- 7:46Speaker 1: what it takes for these kids, you know? I know.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I don't know what it takes. They're almost like the
- 7:50Speaker 1: damn CMA voters or whatever.
- 7:51Speaker 3: That's exactly how it feels. I'm like, what else can
- 7:53Speaker 3: I do? Please vote for me.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Yeah. Kids are funny. My little nephews won't even answer
- 8:00Speaker 1: my calls anymore. I'm like, dude, what.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Do you mean? Leaving you on read.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Yeah. They just, it's different. They don't, I think that
- 8:07Speaker 1: they just, they're locked in their own universe. You know, um,
- 8:12Speaker 1: I have you guys, you're just getting married. You get,
- 8:13Speaker 1: are you married yet or not?
- 8:14Speaker 3: I ain't married yet.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Okay.
- 8:16Speaker 3: I'm making him wait. Oh, making him wait. He made
- 8:18Speaker 3: me wait. Yeah.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Is that your wedding ring on? Yeah. Let me
- 8:23Speaker 1: see that thing.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Oh boy.
- 8:27Speaker 3: When he opened up that box, I was like, I
- 8:30Speaker 3: guess I do. I guess I do.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I'd have been dang honest. Hell, I'd have considered it,
- 8:36Speaker 1: and I prefer women, you know.
- 8:37Speaker 3: I know, I know.
- 8:39Speaker 1: God, where did he get that out of him?
- 8:41Speaker 3: Well, he designed it. He designed it.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Did he really?
- 8:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Nuh-uh. Yeah.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Yeah, you see that?
- 8:49Speaker 1: Uh-huh. That would make Superman sit down for a half hour.
- 8:52Speaker 3: That's it, that's it. We got engaged at George Jones'
- 8:56Speaker 3: old house.
- 8:58Speaker 1: I remember seeing the video, seeing something of it. Oh,
- 9:01Speaker 1: there you go.
- 9:03Speaker 3: There he is.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Mr. Hodges right there. Good guy.
- 9:06Speaker 3: He is a good boy. He just lets me do
- 9:10Speaker 3: my thing, and he does his, and it just works.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Does it?
- 9:14Speaker 3: My best buddy.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I wonder what errors people make in that type of thing,
- 9:18Speaker 1: I guess. I mean, it's so hard because people's schedules
- 9:21Speaker 1: just get so hectic.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Well, for sure.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Does he come on the road with you if you're out,
- 9:25Speaker 1: or does he kind of pop in and out?
- 9:26Speaker 3: Every now and then, like he, he's busy doing his
- 9:29Speaker 3: own stuff and that's great. You know, like I've always said, like,
- 9:34Speaker 3: I have to have somebody that has their own dreams
- 9:37Speaker 3: and goals and motivations. And, you know, then we can,
- 9:40Speaker 3: we have things to talk about and come together and dream.
- 9:43Speaker 3: And I just didn't want to be the only one
- 9:45Speaker 3: dreaming kind of thing. Um, but yeah, he's, he's awesome. He's,
- 9:51Speaker 3: he's killing it.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Yeah. I got to check in with, um, with Mr.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Hodges and see what's going on.
- 9:57Speaker 3: You need to come out to the house. We had
- 9:59Speaker 3: a crawfish bowl. Oh, wait.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Y'all invited me to something.
- 10:03Speaker 3: I did. We were having a crawfish bowl. I think
- 10:04Speaker 3: it was actually Duck's birthday. Do you get crawfish a
- 10:08Speaker 3: good bit?
- 10:08Speaker 1: I don't do it in Nashville very much.
- 10:10Speaker 3: We got it sent up.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Was it good?
- 10:12Speaker 3: It was from South Mississippi, and it was good. It
- 10:17Speaker 3: was good.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I've heard it's good. It was good. God, I've heard
- 10:20Speaker 1: it's good. Yeah, I got to come and have some.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I got to get some this year. I can't even
- 10:24Speaker 1: believe I haven't done it that much.
- 10:26Speaker 3: We have some during the season at our bar downtown,
- 10:30Speaker 3: Bell Bottoms Up. They got a truck out there, a
- 10:33Speaker 3: crawfish truck.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 10:34Speaker 1: Hell yeah.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Kind of sounds dangerous, but good, you know?
- 10:38Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, I'm surprised they don't get hijacked more
- 10:41Speaker 1: by criminals and stuff, but I think that's just us
- 10:43Speaker 1: from Louisiana prefer it. Look at that. God, that's it
- 10:45Speaker 1: right there.
- 10:46Speaker 3: That's it.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Oh, that'll definitely.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Get in my belly.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Get that salt intake. Look at the beautiful color on those.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I know. Sometimes you get the dark red one, the
- 10:55Speaker 1: one that's been like to hell and back or whatever.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Is that the one that like died before?
- 10:58Speaker 1: They say sometimes it died and got brought back to life.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I'm like, nobody's resuscitating these things.
- 11:04Speaker 3: I heard the one with like real flat tail is
- 11:07Speaker 3: the one that was like dead before they cooked it.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I heard that one got around a lot in college, too,
- 11:12Speaker 1: I heard. There's definitely, yeah. I mean, you hear a
- 11:14Speaker 1: lot of myths about those. But there is always, like,
- 11:16Speaker 1: the crawfish that's, like, way too dark. It's, like, it just, like,
- 11:20Speaker 1: at the colored weight, you're like, what is going on?
- 11:22Speaker 3: And you just got to go around it.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:23Speaker 3: You just got to sit it to the side.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:26Speaker 3: I feel you.
- 11:26Speaker 1: And there's one sometimes they're still blinking at you a
- 11:28Speaker 1: little bit, you know. One of them still has got
- 11:30Speaker 1: that left turn signal going when you pull them out
- 11:32Speaker 1: that pot. I'm like, some of these people should not
- 11:36Speaker 1: be eating, you know. Uh-huh, uh-huh. Congratulations on everything you're doing.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Everything's going so great.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 11:42Speaker 1: How burnt out did you get last year? Were you
- 11:44Speaker 1: really burnt out? Because I'm not joking. Every time I
- 11:47Speaker 1: would talk to somebody, I'd be like, is Lainey okay?
- 11:49Speaker 1: Because it seemed like you were just as busy as possible.
- 11:53Speaker 3: It was wild. I'll be honest with you. It was wild.
- 11:58Speaker 3: But like, you know, I've been at this for a
- 12:01Speaker 3: long time. I've been in Nashville now for 14 years.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I remember last time you were on, we
- 12:06Speaker 1: talked about Yeah, when you got there and living in
- 12:08Speaker 1: your camper and, you know, the shower breaking and you
- 12:11Speaker 1: standing in there just doing a prayer circle by yourself.
- 12:16Speaker 3: And I feel like the last two years, at least,
- 12:21Speaker 3: I felt like all my dreams were really just coming true. Like, honestly,
- 12:25Speaker 3: tenfold more than I could have ever even imagined. Like,
- 12:29Speaker 3: I knew I wanted to write songs. I knew I
- 12:30Speaker 3: wanted to tell stories. I knew I wanted to play shows,
- 12:33Speaker 3: but It was a lot, and it was a lot
- 12:35Speaker 3: of opportunity coming at once. And I wanted to say
- 12:40Speaker 3: yes because for so long I didn't have opportunity, you know?
- 12:43Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 12:46Speaker 3: And then I said yes, and I was like, all right,
- 12:47Speaker 3: I'm going to do it. I was tired mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually,
- 12:53Speaker 3: all of it. But I tell you what, Theo, I'm
- 12:57Speaker 3: all right, and I am in a healthy, healthy place
- 13:00Speaker 3: right now. I feel like I've had a lot of
- 13:02Speaker 3: balance this year. Mm-hmm. And I've just, I've learned a lot,
- 13:05Speaker 3: you know, I've learned like what you say yes to
- 13:07Speaker 3: now might not even come into effect until like a
- 13:11Speaker 3: year down the road. And so it's, it's important to
- 13:14Speaker 3: like protect your peace and, um, but also like, you know,
- 13:19Speaker 3: roll your sleeves up and get her done too. Yeah.
- 13:22Speaker 1: It's kind of tough because you feel like I got it,
- 13:23Speaker 1: you know, you want to take advantage of stuff, but
- 13:25Speaker 1: at the same time, you're like, I don't even like,
- 13:28Speaker 1: how do I even show up for this?
- 13:30Speaker 3: Well, that's the thing too, is what I'm realizing is
- 13:32Speaker 3: like how important it is to I mean, your cup's
- 13:35Speaker 3: got to be full in order to keep pouring out,
- 13:38Speaker 3: you know? And then if you're just pouring out from
- 13:40Speaker 3: a half empty cup over and over and over again,
- 13:42Speaker 3: at some point in time, the dang thing is going
- 13:44Speaker 3: to run dry.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Oh, you turn into a damn methadone clinic at that point.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Exactly. And you don't want that. You don't want that.
- 13:52Speaker 3: That sounds terrible.
- 13:53Speaker 1: It's not preferred.
- 13:54Speaker 3: It's not preferred. And yeah, but I've learned a lot.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Like I feel like, and especially we, put out a
- 14:02Speaker 3: record last year called whirlwind and i think it's just
- 14:07Speaker 3: funny how even though like music was the is the
- 14:11Speaker 3: thing that like how can i say it is the
- 14:14Speaker 3: thing that like um was about to make me lose
- 14:17Speaker 3: my mind you know like all of these opportunities um
- 14:21Speaker 3: it's still the thing that i ran back to it
- 14:23Speaker 3: was a thing that like helped me kind of navigate
- 14:26Speaker 3: that time of my life was writing more music and
- 14:29Speaker 3: just like putting pen to paper and picking up my
- 14:31Speaker 3: guitar that's like That's what I do when I was
- 14:34Speaker 3: nine years old coming home from school and I didn't
- 14:36Speaker 3: know how to, you know, talk about what I wanted
- 14:39Speaker 3: to talk about.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Yeah, because you weren't in gifted courses. That's why you
- 14:41Speaker 1: only had half a damn alphabet.
- 14:43Speaker 3: I mean, I was writing songs about tequila and cigarettes,
- 14:46Speaker 3: you know.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Really?
- 14:48Speaker 3: Yes.
- 14:50Speaker 1: As a child?
- 14:50Speaker 3: As a child. Are you worried? Look, that was a
- 14:53Speaker 3: concerned look on your face.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I mean, I think I'm worried. I'm also kind of impressed.
- 14:57Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, dude.
- 14:58Speaker 3: I had one that went like a.
- 15:01Speaker 2: My cigarette pack.
- 15:02Speaker 3: At 10 years old.
- 15:03Speaker 2: My cigarette pack is empty. My tequila bottle is gone.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Thinking how you and you're gone. I keep looking for
- 15:13Speaker 2: the future, but it comes to the past. I don't
- 15:16Speaker 2: have to think about you no more. Freedom at last.
- 15:21Speaker 1: No way. Hell yeah.
- 15:23Speaker 3: People would pull up in the yard, like coming to
- 15:25Speaker 3: buy a horse from daddy. And he'd be like, hey,
- 15:28Speaker 3: sing them that song you just wrote last week. I'd
- 15:30Speaker 3: get on the trampoline. That'd be my stage.
- 15:33Speaker 2: I'd say, my cigarette pack is empty.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Just your big tail just popping up out of the
- 15:40Speaker 1: back every now and then. Wait till you're at that
- 15:42Speaker 1: crescendo where you're drunk to hit the high notes.
- 15:44Speaker 3: That's right. You do your toe touch. Freedom at last.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Freedom at last. That's the best thing, man. That's the
- 15:54Speaker 1: most American thing ever. That's the best song. Look at that.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Is that a picture of you in that red and white.
- 15:59Speaker 3: And top left? Yes, and I don't know why, but
- 16:01Speaker 3: during this one phase of my life, I was doing
- 16:03Speaker 3: like this underbite.
- 16:05Speaker 1: That's you? Were you a missing person?
- 16:08Speaker 3: It looked like I need to be on a milk carton, yeah.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Yeah, that's me. Wow. That was our rodeo shirt.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Dude, the rodeo stuff is so great, isn't it? I
- 16:19Speaker 1: love the rodeo.
- 16:19Speaker 3: I love the rodeo, too. I feel at home with
- 16:21Speaker 3: the rodeo.
- 16:22Speaker 1: It's my favorite. I was just watching. Now I seem
- 16:25Speaker 1: like a real creep, but I was just watching videos.
- 16:27Speaker 1: There's some little girl. See if you can find it
- 16:29Speaker 1: on my TikTok. I think I shared it yesterday or
- 16:31Speaker 1: maybe I just saved it. It's this little girl who just, man,
- 16:35Speaker 1: she gets out there and barrel races. She must weigh
- 16:37Speaker 1: in 40 pounds out there and looks like she has
- 16:39Speaker 1: two jobs. Stop. She's just a savage.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Knows how to do it.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I really love that. Pretty impressive stuff. Yeah, I
- 16:46Speaker 1: love the rodeo. I wish I could... If I had
- 16:49Speaker 1: like a... That would be one thing I would like
- 16:51Speaker 1: to invest in a rodeo team. If I could get
- 16:52Speaker 1: enough money and then invest in like a rodeo team,
- 16:55Speaker 1: you know?
- 16:56Speaker 3: I like that. You let me know when you need
- 16:57Speaker 3: some more investors.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Yeah, that'd be cool, wouldn't it? We'll do it. Dude,
- 17:01Speaker 1: I love the frickin' rodeo. I do too. Do you
- 17:03Speaker 1: really love it or not?
- 17:04Speaker 3: No, I do. I grew up doing it. My daddy
- 17:07Speaker 3: is still the president of the rodeo committee back at home.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 17:11Speaker 3: And so it's like... It's just... There's something about it
- 17:14Speaker 3: even when you just roll up and you just smell it,
- 17:16Speaker 3: you know. It's like, I love it. We used to
- 17:20Speaker 3: barrel race and we were PRCA flag girls and all that.
- 17:25Speaker 3: So I'd ride in with a flag and sing the
- 17:27Speaker 3: national anthem and screw the lyrics up every single time.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Every time.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Really?
- 17:33Speaker 2: Yes.
- 17:33Speaker 3: There was a text message, you know, back when there
- 17:37Speaker 3: used to be like, forward this to 10 people. If
- 17:39Speaker 3: you don't, you're going to die kind of thing.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:41Speaker 3: There was a text message going around the arena that
- 17:44Speaker 3: ended up making its way to my sister somehow that said,
- 17:48Speaker 3: did you hear Laney Wilson mess up the national anthem?
- 17:52Speaker 3: Send this to 10 people. Yes. Yes. So I'm like,
- 17:58Speaker 3: guess what? You can't hurt me. You know what I'm saying?
- 18:00Speaker 3: You can't hurt me. Yeah.
- 18:02Speaker 1: We've been there. Dude, that's the dang gossip superhighway. That's
- 18:07Speaker 1: when gossip just hit the dang HOV lane. Yes. I
- 18:10Speaker 1: can't believe that that's how it got. Oh, this is
- 18:14Speaker 1: her right here.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Let's go, girl. Look, she said, get the hat off me.
- 18:24Speaker 1: She's not even playing, bro.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Look at her.
- 18:28Speaker 1: That's crazy. And she should do DoorDash. How does she
- 18:31Speaker 1: not work for them?
- 18:32Speaker 3: Dude, if she worked for DoorDash, we'd be getting our
- 18:34Speaker 3: stuff quick.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Bro, it'd be warm when it got there.
- 18:37Speaker 3: It would be warm.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Even if it was a cold item, it would be warm.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Look at her, boy. Let's go. Who is that?
- 18:45Speaker 3: I love that.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I know.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Little cowgirl. Look at her.
- 18:50Speaker 1: I know.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Stop.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Pretty cool. That's great. Yeah, I love— I mean, I just— like,
- 18:57Speaker 1: even just growing up in Louisiana, like, did y'all ever
- 18:59Speaker 1: have a parade in y'all's town or not?
- 19:00Speaker 3: We did. Our rodeo parade.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:03Speaker 3: And we'd ride through the town, and everybody'd come out,
- 19:05Speaker 3: and we'd throw candy.
- 19:06Speaker 1: And— That was good.
- 19:09Speaker 3: It was. Remember those days? I mean, those were, like,
- 19:11Speaker 3: the good old days.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Picking the candy up off the street, you know?
- 19:15Speaker 3: Did you do a lot of, like, Mardi Gras parades
- 19:17Speaker 3: and stuff like that?
- 19:17Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, we did Mardi Gras parades. But the parade
- 19:20Speaker 1: in our town, they had like, even the people in it,
- 19:22Speaker 1: it would be like tallest guy in town or whatever,
- 19:25Speaker 1: you know?
- 19:26Speaker 3: Stop.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it would be like kid who can walk backwards.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Like the shit was like really.
- 19:30Speaker 2: You are lying.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Nah.
- 19:31Speaker 3: That's some South Louisiana stuff. We don't do that kind
- 19:34Speaker 3: of stuff in North Louisiana.
- 19:36Speaker 1: First of all, they're not that different than each other, okay? Well.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I mean, they are, but these are like our heroes
- 19:43Speaker 1: in the community or whatever, you know?
- 19:45Speaker 3: Stop.
- 19:46Speaker 1: No, we had, I'm trying to think of who else
- 19:47Speaker 1: we had.
- 19:48Speaker 3: And they would just walk through the parade or like?
- 19:50Speaker 3: be in a car and wave?
- 19:50Speaker 1: They'd be in a car and stay on the side
- 19:52Speaker 1: of it. Newly single or whatever. Sometimes if you had
- 19:54Speaker 1: a little bit of cash, you'd get your daughter out
- 19:56Speaker 1: there or whatever.
- 19:56Speaker 3: I like that.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I like that. And that was kind of a good,
- 19:59Speaker 1: that was a neat thing, I thought, because it was
- 20:01Speaker 1: kind of showcasing the goods of the area, you know?
- 20:05Speaker 1: It's really not a bad idea.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Got to shine a light on it.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I mean, that was kind of the original OnlyFans. A
- 20:10Speaker 1: little bit was just driving. Stop. I mean, kind of
- 20:13Speaker 1: more of a Christian OnlyFans version, but driving a decent woman,
- 20:17Speaker 1: buying an open convertible. Yeah. God, that was it.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Sitting up on the back of it.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:21Speaker 3: With the signs down the side.
- 20:23Speaker 1: That was it.
- 20:23Speaker 3: Decorated with the Christmas lights.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Miss Rabies or whatever. I'm like, that shouldn't be.
- 20:29Speaker 1: You guys should have picked something else.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Miss Rabies.
- 20:32Speaker 1: That was always a little bit different.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Well, there are so many... like different festivals in Louisiana,
- 20:39Speaker 3: what I've realized. And I got to hang out with
- 20:41Speaker 3: them some. It was like the Duck Queen, the Duck
- 20:45Speaker 3: Festival Queen. It was like the Strawberry Festival Queen, the
- 20:48Speaker 3: Watermelon Festival Queen. It was like any kind of queen
- 20:51Speaker 3: you could think of, any kind of animal or fruit.
- 20:53Speaker 1: The frog, yeah.
- 20:55Speaker 3: It exists.
- 20:55Speaker 1: In rain, they had the Frog Princess or whatever. Yeah,
- 20:59Speaker 1: they have like the Mosquito Queen or whatever.
- 21:04Speaker 3: The Armadillo Queen, the Possum Queen.
- 21:06Speaker 1: There's some nervous. This thin girl just standing on all fours,
- 21:11Speaker 1: just shaking. Yeah, there was all that in Louisiana. That
- 21:14Speaker 1: was a lot of it. Do you notice as your
- 21:18Speaker 1: career gets busier that you have to spend so much
- 21:21Speaker 1: more time doing the career part? Yes. And it changes.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Is there stuff that you miss from the earlier parts?
- 21:28Speaker 1: Is there even little moments? For sure.
- 21:32Speaker 3: I mean, things are different. You know, I don't miss
- 21:36Speaker 3: going to the grocery store. I'll tell you that. You don't?
- 21:38Speaker 3: I don't. I ain't never liked going to the grocery store.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Well, the one area gets so cold or whatever, you
- 21:43Speaker 1: got to go in there to get the cold goods
- 21:45Speaker 1: or whatever.
- 21:45Speaker 3: That's right. And you got to run over to the
- 21:46Speaker 3: other side just to warm up.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yeah. God, I'd be in there looking at something. I'd
- 21:50Speaker 1: be like, oh, I'll be right back. And I'd have
- 21:51Speaker 1: to go over there and just go like this by
- 21:53Speaker 1: the cereal boxes and then head back over there. Or
- 21:56Speaker 1: I'd open up that little chicken warmer thing they got. Stop.
- 21:59Speaker 3: In the rotisserie thing?
- 22:02Speaker 1: Sometimes they don't lock it.
- 22:04Speaker 3: You can get up in there.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Oh, I'd be, well, I wouldn't get in, but I
- 22:06Speaker 1: put my hands in, like, you know.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Oh, I do remember doing that, too.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I cracked it, just kind of, you know. In Walmart? Oh, yeah, dude.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I'm the guy, I'm always cold. I feel like I'll
- 22:14Speaker 1: be the guy, like, at a Circle K who will
- 22:15Speaker 1: have his, both of his hands in that, like, little
- 22:19Speaker 1: hot dog spinner.
- 22:20Speaker 3: You are lying. And that's why, that right there is
- 22:23Speaker 3: why nobody needs to be eating the hot dogs from
- 22:26Speaker 3: the convenience stores because of people like you.
- 22:29Speaker 1: I'm not touching the franks.
- 22:31Speaker 3: It don't matter.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I'm just keeping my hands warm. Well, they should have
- 22:35Speaker 1: a little warming section right above that for people that
- 22:37Speaker 1: are cold.
- 22:37Speaker 3: They should. They should.
- 22:39Speaker 1: But, yeah.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Life has changed.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Life has changed.
- 22:42Speaker 3: And, I mean, of course, there's things that I miss.
- 22:46Speaker 3: But I also know, like, on a serious note, that, like,
- 22:49Speaker 3: this is my calling.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Right.
- 22:51Speaker 3: You know, and I knew that at a very early age.
- 22:53Speaker 3: And so I just think, like, with anything in life,
- 22:57Speaker 3: there are times when there are things you just kind
- 23:00Speaker 3: of have to, like, give up.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:03Speaker 3: And so I'm okay with that because this is, this
- 23:06Speaker 3: is what I feel like I was like born to
- 23:07Speaker 3: do and made to do. And so, um, it changes.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Things change.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Yeah, they do. I know.
- 23:14Speaker 1: It's kind of tough. It's tough sometimes cause you want
- 23:15Speaker 1: to be that you want to be the same person,
- 23:17Speaker 1: but also who you are changes and you grow up
- 23:19Speaker 1: and things are different.
- 23:20Speaker 3: That's right. And you know, like I didn't really like
- 23:23Speaker 3: sign up to be a business woman or whatever, but
- 23:27Speaker 3: you kind of have to be, you have to like
- 23:29Speaker 3: rise to the occasion and, other opportunities have have come
- 23:32Speaker 3: my way and I'd be silly not to you know
- 23:34Speaker 3: to hear what it's about and and take that step
- 23:38Speaker 3: so yeah so I thought when growing up you know
- 23:41Speaker 3: when I was jumping on the trampoline and singing freedom
- 23:44Speaker 3: at last I thought that I was just gonna be
- 23:48Speaker 3: writing music and playing shows and bouncing around and um
- 23:53Speaker 3: that's not it at all this it's like 80 business
- 23:55Speaker 3: and 20 music but I'm willing to do the 80%
- 23:59Speaker 3: business so I can do the 20% music. Amen.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Yeah. It really is. It changes in the beginning. It's
- 24:04Speaker 1: just all, it's mostly all the music, I guess. Or actually,
- 24:07Speaker 1: I don't know if now, maybe it hasn't merged more.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Like you have to make your own flyers. I remember
- 24:11Speaker 1: having to make my own flyers at home and like
- 24:13Speaker 1: trying to figure them out on the computer and stuff. Yes.
- 24:17Speaker 3: My granny used to make these little like CD covers
- 24:21Speaker 3: and little stickers. Who did? My granny.
- 24:23Speaker 1: She would make, oh, make the items for you?
- 24:25Speaker 3: Like put them off on the computer. Like we'd burn
- 24:27Speaker 3: the CDs where I'd recorded some songs.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that CD burner?
- 24:31Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 24:32Speaker 1: I found a triple-decker CD burner one time. That thing
- 24:35Speaker 1: had three rows in it.
- 24:37Speaker 3: What in the world?
- 24:38Speaker 1: And I was like, God, baby, we're doing it.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Look, my daddy found a burnt CD of ours that
- 24:44Speaker 3: had Colt 45 on it. He popped it in the
- 24:45Speaker 3: CD player and listened to it. You remember that song?
- 24:49Speaker 3: Colt 45, two zigzag, baby, that's all we need.
- 24:53Speaker 2: We can go to the park after dark, smoke that tumbleweed.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Yeah, then I have heard this, dude. Unless somebody stole
- 25:00Speaker 1: that beat from them.
- 25:01Speaker 3: At the marijuana bar, we can take our turn singing
- 25:04Speaker 3: them dirty rap songs. Stop to hit the bong like
- 25:06Speaker 3: Cheech and Chong. Sell taste from here to Hong Kong.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 25:09Speaker 3: So roll, roll. Anyway, Daddy put that into the CD player.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I have to have heard this song.
- 25:16Speaker 3: And he about had a heart attack.
- 25:17Speaker 1: It's Afro Man?
- 25:18Speaker 3: It's Afro Man. Oh, okay. Next time I see you,
- 25:21Speaker 3: you better have learned every lyric to this song.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Okay, that's fair. I promise y'all will.
- 25:27Speaker 3: We need to play it at a show. You need
- 25:29Speaker 3: to come up at a show, and we do Cult 45. Okay.
- 25:33Speaker 1: I'll do it.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 25:35Speaker 1: As long as your dad will dang two-step over there
- 25:37Speaker 1: on the side a little.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh. He's going to have a heart attack.
- 25:40Speaker 1: And we'll get the trampoline out there, too, I think.
- 25:42Speaker 1: You know? I'll jump on it. Okay?
- 25:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Dude, I love this. I saw After Man at a
- 25:47Speaker 1: frat party one time up in– At University of Mississippi,
- 25:50Speaker 1: he was like so high or whatever on stage, he
- 25:53Speaker 1: hit a note that just shook him a little. And
- 25:55Speaker 1: he had just vomited in his own hat and just
- 25:59Speaker 1: threw it. And some freshman kid just was like excited.
- 26:04Speaker 1: I think he thought it was just a hat, not
- 26:06Speaker 1: that a hat that had vomit in it.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Stop. And he put it on?
- 26:09Speaker 1: No, he just caught it.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Okay, okay, okay.
- 26:11Speaker 1: If he put it on, the guy's a damn. He's
- 26:13Speaker 1: just waterboarding himself out there. But, yeah, Afro, man, that
- 26:18Speaker 1: guy's played everywhere, huh?
- 26:20Speaker 3: I guess so.
- 26:21Speaker 1: He's played everywhere. Colt 45, I don't remember it, but
- 26:24Speaker 1: I believe that it happened. Because I Got High, I
- 26:26Speaker 1: remember that was like his big hit. Uh-huh. Da-da-da-da-da-da-da. Yeah,
- 26:31Speaker 1: I remember that. I was going to go to work.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Till I got high. And those were the jams.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Those were the jams, man.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Those were.
- 26:40Speaker 2: That was it.
- 26:42Speaker 3: But my daddy, like, he, like, tore up the CD and,
- 26:45Speaker 3: you know. He's like, you ain't going to be singing
- 26:47Speaker 3: stuff like this at this age. But it was okay
- 26:51Speaker 3: for me to write about tequila and cigarettes, you know,
- 26:53Speaker 3: and be like, hey, play that song.
- 26:54Speaker 1: I guess as long as you were like the person
- 26:56Speaker 1: writing it, it made everything okay, you know.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right.
- 26:58Speaker 1: That's right. I want to let you know about something interesting.

- 29:58Speaker 1: put my prayers up. And bam, baby, I hit the hay.
- 30:03Speaker 1: And the mattress is at the heart of that sleep space.
- 30:06Speaker 1: That's especially true now that I have a Helix sleep mattress.
- 30:11Speaker 1: It's good. In fact, I like it so much, I
- 30:14Speaker 1: got two of them. Because honestly, sleep matters more to
- 30:18Speaker 1: me than ever, especially when I'm on the road all
- 30:20Speaker 1: the time or I'm on the go. The one thing
- 30:23Speaker 1: that's consistent is putting my head down and getting some rest.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Some hotel beds can feel like you're sleeping on cardboard
- 30:30Speaker 1: or you're sleeping on somebody else's back and their back
- 30:33Speaker 1: is nasty. So it feels great to go home and
- 30:36Speaker 1: sleep on a mattress that feels like you're being hugged
- 30:39Speaker 1: by a cloud. That's my Helix. If your old mattress
- 30:43Speaker 1: is leaving you sore, restless, or just worn out, it's
- 30:47Speaker 1: probably time to give Helix a try. you can sleep
- 30:50Speaker 1: great too. Just go to helixsleep.com slash Theo to get

- 31:09Speaker 1: Whirlwind Deluxe.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Whirlwind Deluxe.
- 31:11Speaker 1: And it's out right now.
- 31:12Speaker 3: And it's out right now.
- 31:13Speaker 1: And there's new songs on it.
- 31:15Speaker 3: There's new songs on it. There is several new songs
- 31:18Speaker 3: on it. So, When I was writing Whirlwind, like I
- 31:21Speaker 3: was saying earlier, it was like during that time of
- 31:23Speaker 3: my life that was chaotic when you were asking if
- 31:27Speaker 3: that was okay.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 31:32Speaker 3: And then I felt like after the dust kind of
- 31:34Speaker 3: settled after I put that record out, I had a
- 31:37Speaker 3: minute to really just kind of like just get my
- 31:40Speaker 3: stuff together. And these were the songs that I wrote,
- 31:44Speaker 3: but I still felt like it was kind of connected
- 31:45Speaker 3: to the tail end of the whirlwind.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Felt like they were still in that family. And so
- 31:50Speaker 3: I just wanted to, you know, add a little bit
- 31:52Speaker 3: to the story. And so they're out. I'm so proud
- 31:55Speaker 3: of them. One of my favorite songs I've ever written
- 31:59Speaker 3: is on there. It's called Peace, Love, and Cowboys. And
- 32:03Speaker 3: it's a bop.
- 32:06Speaker 1: What made you feel like it was your favorite kind
- 32:08Speaker 1: of like did you just know?
- 32:09Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 32:09Speaker 3: It's just that feeling. It's like when you're writing the song.
- 32:14Speaker 3: Everybody in the room has that feeling. It's like the
- 32:16Speaker 3: Holy Spirit. It's like you just feel it. And you
- 32:21Speaker 3: just kind of feel like the song's going to be
- 32:22Speaker 3: around for a long time, even if that just means
- 32:24Speaker 3: that you're going to sing it 30, 50 years from now.
- 32:28Speaker 3: And so that's how I felt about it. I was like,
- 32:30Speaker 3: I'd be okay with singing this song for the rest
- 32:33Speaker 3: of forever.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Yeah, you kind of have to. And you have some
- 32:37Speaker 1: truck songs already. Do you feel like you can't do
- 32:39Speaker 1: any more vehicle songs? No.
- 32:41Speaker 3: I got a vehicle song on. Don't you even play.
- 32:44Speaker 3: I'm doing what I said I'd never do.
- 32:49Speaker 1: Shotgun. One called King Ranch, King.
- 32:51Speaker 3: George, King James.
- 32:53Speaker 1: King what?
- 32:53Speaker 3: King Ranch, King George, King James.
- 32:55Speaker 1: All right. God, I want some of that. That's it? Yeah,
- 33:00Speaker 1: I got a hard like a damn F-150 hybrid, I think.
- 33:04Speaker 3: A hybrid?
- 33:05Speaker 1: Breaks down a lot. Them bitches will break down, dude.
- 33:08Speaker 1: And they will actually.
- 33:10Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh. Heart Like a Prius.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Oh, that's a song? Yours is Hot Like a Prius?
- 33:15Speaker 3: Heart Like a Prius.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Oh, Heart Like a Prius. Oh, yeah. What about, look
- 33:18Speaker 1: up some Lainey Wilson songs, the titles of songs she's
- 33:22Speaker 1: never done.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Oh, shit.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Use perplexity and see what they got. Pick up Whiskey
- 33:29Speaker 1: on a Wednesday.
- 33:30Speaker 3: Look at twang in my bones.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Twang in my bones. That's good.
- 33:35Speaker 3: I got that twang in my bones.
- 33:40Speaker 1: I think you need an MRI, bro, if you have
- 33:41Speaker 1: a twang in your bones.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Dixie Moonlight Daydreams. My God, is this what people think
- 33:47Speaker 3: of me? Mason Jar of Miracles.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Hey, those are some good peaches.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Kissed by kudzu. It sounds like you need some damn
- 33:57Speaker 1: calamine lotion. That's all it is.
- 33:58Speaker 3: I thought you were going to say kissed by your cousin.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Yeah, kissed by your kudzin'. It's just some guy who
- 34:05Speaker 1: has a kudzu rash on. He's so inflamed from the kudzu.
- 34:10Speaker 1: You can't even tell if you're related or not. Kissed
- 34:13Speaker 1: by my kudzu. That's a good one. See if they
- 34:17Speaker 1: make them sillier. If you look up goofier ones. There
- 34:22Speaker 1: you go.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Honky tonk hiccups.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Honky tonk hiccups is good.
- 34:25Speaker 3: That is hilarious. Yeah. But it'd have to be honky
- 34:29Speaker 3: tonk hiccups.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Sand in.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Boots.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Yeah, that'd be the best. They should have.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Dude, there has been a time where I thought I
- 34:39Speaker 3: was about to have hiccups on stage.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Uh-uh. Oh, yeah. And what do you have to do? Oh,
- 34:44Speaker 1: I think you're supposed to eat a bunch of sugar
- 34:46Speaker 1: or something, right?
- 34:47Speaker 3: I do that anyway.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. All right.
- 34:49Speaker 3: So I ought to be clear, but no. And then
- 34:52Speaker 3: there was one time where I was like, I don't
- 34:55Speaker 3: know what's happening, but I feel like I'm about to burp.
- 34:57Speaker 3: I don't know. And it's just like you have to
- 35:00Speaker 3: just get it off your, like somehow get it off
- 35:03Speaker 3: your mind.
- 35:03Speaker 4: Right.
- 35:04Speaker 3: Just like start staring at somebody or you're about to sneeze.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Oh, the craziest.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Oh, that feeling.
- 35:09Speaker 1: One guy came to get like, was it somebody who's
- 35:11Speaker 1: introduced me to their friend the other day? And the
- 35:15Speaker 1: guy just kind of came in for, and as he's
- 35:16Speaker 1: coming in for like a close like can't shake thing,
- 35:18Speaker 1: I was just going into a sneeze. I didn't know.
- 35:20Speaker 3: No, you did not.
- 35:21Speaker 1: I sneezed right into him. Sneezed right into the guy. Yeah.
- 35:24Speaker 1: And I think that's like a mating call in some
- 35:26Speaker 1: cultures or whatever. I didn't mean it to be, but
- 35:28Speaker 1: it just was like, I don't know.
- 35:31Speaker 3: What did he do?
- 35:32Speaker 1: He just kind of went like that. I don't know.
- 35:33Speaker 1: What would he do? He wasn't stoked. He wasn't upset.
- 35:37Speaker 1: He was understanding, but it was crazy.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Did you say, I'm sorry, or just like, thank you?
- 35:43Speaker 1: I was like, well, what do you expect, you know?
- 35:48Speaker 1: So then that's what I think about the government. That's
- 35:50Speaker 1: what I said.
- 35:53Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 35:54Speaker 1: What are some of the goofier titles bringing back up?
- 35:57Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh. Lasso my latte. Oh, that's a good one.
- 36:02Speaker 3: That's what you're doing over there, right there.
- 36:03Speaker 1: God, I need that.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Lasso that latte.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Boot scooting Wi-Fi is pretty good.
- 36:07Speaker 3: Stop. Hold up. Gravy on my guitar. It just reminds me.
- 36:14Speaker 3: Hardy took me and some of my crew to a
- 36:19Speaker 3: strip club in Huntsville. And they have biscuits and gravy night.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Yes. Oh, that's great, huh?
- 36:28Speaker 3: On Thursday nights.
- 36:29Speaker 1: And how much is it? Is it pricey over there?
- 36:32Speaker 3: Well, he gave me 100 ones, and it was like,
- 36:34Speaker 3: have fun. It was like my end of tour gift.
- 36:37Speaker 1: It was? And you're over there just buying biscuits and gravy.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Well, it wasn't biscuits and gravy night that night. We
- 36:42Speaker 3: had just missed it. This was like a Friday night
- 36:44Speaker 3: or something.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Oh, got it.
- 36:45Speaker 3: But.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Huh. I've seen them do bingo night at a strip club, too,
- 36:49Speaker 1: which is kind of cool. Because everybody will get right
- 36:51Speaker 1: up there and be using their blotters and stuff. And
- 36:57Speaker 1: some of the Christian women will even blot out their
- 36:59Speaker 1: eyes so they don't see all the sexual stuff.
- 37:01Speaker 3: Uncle Buck's Boobie Bungalow. That's it right there.
- 37:03Speaker 1: Is that what it's called?
- 37:04Speaker 3: That's it.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Uncle Buck's Boobie Bungalow. And they got biscuits and gravy.
- 37:07Speaker 1: What night is that on?
- 37:08Speaker 3: Yeah, we're going to have to ride on down there.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Oh.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Ride on down there. Load up. Load up.
- 37:14Speaker 1: I'll take Tex for one last ride down there to Huntsville. God,
- 37:21Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of what food goes good with a...
- 37:24Speaker 1: With a good tit or whatever kind of, I shouldn't
- 37:27Speaker 1: even say, you know.
- 37:30Speaker 3: Anything.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Well, supposedly, I don't know if this is true or not,
- 37:37Speaker 3: but they were like, y'all got to come back for
- 37:40Speaker 3: biscuits and gravy night, blah, blah, blah. And I thought,
- 37:43Speaker 3: that's nice, you know, sit around, eat some biscuits and gravy. No,
- 37:47Speaker 3: they're rolling around in the gravy and people are throwing
- 37:50Speaker 3: the biscuits.
- 37:50Speaker 1: No. Yes. Oh, yeah, I don't want that. My mother
- 37:54Speaker 1: loves biscuits and gravy. If I took her and you
- 37:56Speaker 1: didn't get to eat it, she would be upset.
- 37:58Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Oh, this is Uncle Buck's third annual biscuits and gravy.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Rasslin'. Rasslin'. Oh. I love how they spell rasslin'..
- 38:08Speaker 1: Well, the recipe better be good because I'll tell you this.
- 38:10Speaker 1: If I'm even that close to biscuits and gravy.
- 38:12Speaker 3: I'm going to eat it.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:13Speaker 1: I'm going to have a little.
- 38:15Speaker 3: I'm going to have a little. I'm going to have
- 38:17Speaker 3: me a bite.
- 38:18Speaker 1: You telling me somebody ain't going to whip something around
- 38:21Speaker 1: fast enough? Where just something's going to land in my mouth, honey.
- 38:25Speaker 3: You're dang right.
- 38:26Speaker 1: God, I just hope it's sausage gravy, too. I really
- 38:28Speaker 1: like that. What about Halloween? What was y'all's Halloween like
- 38:34Speaker 1: growing up? Do you remember that over there? Could y'all
- 38:36Speaker 1: even trick-or-treat? Or was there not enough folks?
- 38:39Speaker 3: We'd have to go to Monroe to trick-or-treat because that
- 38:41Speaker 3: was like the biggest town. We'd just go to like
- 38:43Speaker 3: random subdivisions.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Go to the rich subdivisions?
- 38:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:47Speaker 1: People that had lights out in front of their house?
- 38:49Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. I was like, oh, these people got money.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Oh, dude.
- 38:53Speaker 3: When I got a pumpkin, too.
- 38:54Speaker 1: We had electricity inside our house, yeah, like normal people.
- 38:57Speaker 3: That's right.
- 38:58Speaker 1: But some people had a light right outside of their
- 39:00Speaker 1: front door, and I was like, you got to be
- 39:02Speaker 1: effing kidding me. I know.
- 39:03Speaker 3: I was like, must be nice.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Must be nice to open your front door and see
- 39:08Speaker 1: what's happening in the world at night. Uh-huh. That kind
- 39:11Speaker 1: of shit pissed me off, dude.
- 39:13Speaker 3: I know. I know. But we would, like, some years...
- 39:17Speaker 3: Like I lived on this one road that we just
- 39:19Speaker 3: had a few neighbors. And so we'd go like see
- 39:20Speaker 3: my granny and we'd go see, you know, the Olivos
- 39:24Speaker 3: and we'd go down the road and see the Graysons.
- 39:27Speaker 1: And would everybody dress up or no?
- 39:28Speaker 3: Me and my sister would.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 39:31Speaker 3: Did you dress up for Halloween?
- 39:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I dressed up. I had some kind of alternative
- 39:35Speaker 1: or not like, like our mom was always working. So
- 39:39Speaker 1: we'd have to get dressed up. Like our dad was
- 39:42Speaker 1: like in charge of getting us dressed up or whatever.
- 39:43Speaker 1: And he was like 75 years old or whatever. So
- 39:45Speaker 1: he didn't know what was going on. Um, What was I? Oh,
- 39:49Speaker 1: I remember one year I was a ghost, but I
- 39:50Speaker 1: was like too scared to stand on the sheet or whatever.
- 39:52Speaker 3: No, you were like claustrophobic.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I was just like, I'd be like, ooh, but
- 39:57Speaker 1: then I'd lift it up and be like, it's me.
- 39:59Speaker 1: I'm under here, it's me. Like I would scare myself,
- 40:01Speaker 1: you know?
- 40:02Speaker 3: You are a lion.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Oh, I definitely remember that, dude. I was like, I
- 40:05Speaker 1: cannot be a ghost anymore. What else? I was a wheelchair.
- 40:09Speaker 1: One year I had a little chair, like a kid's
- 40:11Speaker 1: chair that we put like around a rope on my
- 40:12Speaker 1: neck and I carried two bike tires with me. It
- 40:14Speaker 1: was pretty cute.
- 40:15Speaker 3: You are a lion.
- 40:16Speaker 1: I swear. I swear.
- 40:18Speaker 3: You needed to be in that parade.
- 40:20Speaker 1: What are you talking about?
- 40:22Speaker 3: That parade that went through your town, that's the parade
- 40:24Speaker 3: you needed to be in.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Tallest kid, best list. He always got his own car
- 40:28Speaker 1: in that parade.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Dang it.
- 40:30Speaker 1: He's over there just trying to whistle at people.
- 40:35Speaker 3: We might have been from the same town.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Dude, yeah, there was something nice about that. Or somebody
- 40:40Speaker 1: that had too many freckles, they'd put them in the
- 40:42Speaker 1: parade sometimes. You know, there'd always be some girl named
- 40:45Speaker 1: Abigail or something that had too many dang freckles.
- 40:46Speaker 3: That's right.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Dude, I'll tell you something that was amazing was I
- 40:51Speaker 1: was in, I had a show in Winnipeg, Canada after
- 40:53Speaker 1: the show. They said there's some people here that are
- 40:57Speaker 1: actors in town that were doing a show here and
- 41:00Speaker 1: they wanted to come and say hello. And I got
- 41:02Speaker 1: to meet the people from Little House on the Prairie.
- 41:04Speaker 1: They're redoing it. Remember that show?
- 41:07Speaker 3: That's cool.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:08Speaker 3: They're redoing it. That's cool. So when's that happening? It's
- 41:12Speaker 3: coming out.
- 41:13Speaker 1: And I got to go to set the next day too.
- 41:15Speaker 3: What was that like?
- 41:17Speaker 1: Awesome.
- 41:18Speaker 3: Was it just like even the clothes and everything just
- 41:22Speaker 3: seemed like from a different time?
- 41:23Speaker 1: Everything.
- 41:24Speaker 3: Period pieces?
- 41:25Speaker 1: There they are.
- 41:26Speaker 3: That's going to be incredible.
- 41:29Speaker 1: And, yeah, the reboot.
- 41:30Speaker 3: You think you'd ever want to be in something like that?
- 41:32Speaker 1: I don't know. I met the man who's doing Charles Ingalls,
- 41:35Speaker 1: and I would have to be his brother that was
- 41:38Speaker 1: in an accident or something. Because he's really got the
- 41:42Speaker 1: looks all locked up, you know. You ever meet somebody
- 41:45Speaker 1: like that? They're so good. They keep all the good
- 41:46Speaker 1: looks to themselves.
- 41:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:49Speaker 1: They're over there just.
- 41:50Speaker 3: There's a lot of people like that.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Yeah. They're over there looking at photos of themselves and shit.
- 41:54Speaker 1: I'm just hiding from mirrors, you know.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Exactly. I won't just turn the light out.
- 41:58Speaker 1: I'm over there just buying five watt bulbs from my house,
- 42:03Speaker 1: you know, just trying to keep my own reflection away
- 42:05Speaker 1: from me.
- 42:06Speaker 3: Amen.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Were you in pageants growing up? You were in pageants. Yeah.
- 42:10Speaker 3: I was in one pageant, and it was a Farm
- 42:16Speaker 3: Bureau pageant. My mama back in the day was the
- 42:19Speaker 3: Farm Bureau queen, and so she was like, you know,
- 42:22Speaker 3: I'd love for you to be in the Farm Bureau pageant.
- 42:25Speaker 3: And so the onstage question was, what does agriculture mean
- 42:31Speaker 3: to you? And I think I had one line, and
- 42:33Speaker 3: I think it was what really sealed the deal. And
- 42:36Speaker 3: I said, agriculture is the backbone of America. And then
- 42:40Speaker 3: I think they just said, give it to her. Give
- 42:42Speaker 3: it to her. Give it to her. Um, yeah, that's
- 42:47Speaker 3: pretty much what I was right there.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Oh my God. You won it.
- 42:50Speaker 3: I won the Franklin parish one.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Um, that's big though.
- 42:54Speaker 3: That's big boy. But my sister, she went through a
- 42:59Speaker 3: little phase where she was doing some pageants and this
- 43:03Speaker 3: is hilarious, but she was doing the watermelon pageant. I
- 43:06Speaker 3: think that's in Ruston, Louisiana. And, She gets up to
- 43:10Speaker 3: the microphone, and she goes, I'm Jana Wilson, Conquesca Kent
- 43:15Speaker 3: number three. And then in the microphone, she goes, shit.
- 43:19Speaker 3: And then walks off. She definitely didn't win.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Yeah. But she won a lot of people's hearts that day.
- 43:27Speaker 3: Conquesca Kent.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Oh, if you's a dang Conquesca Kent. Oh, we had–
- 43:32Speaker 1: that's beautiful.
- 43:34Speaker 3: She was in another one, and it was a junior
- 43:37Speaker 3: Miss pageant, and they asked her, they said, what does
- 43:39Speaker 3: going green mean to you? And she goes, don't pollute.
- 43:44Speaker 3: She's off. Didn't win that one either.
- 43:46Speaker 1: God dang, dude. Y'all needed what y'all needed was like
- 43:50Speaker 1: a– Like kind of a question answer groom or something.
- 43:53Speaker 1: I know. Y'all didn't practice it?
- 43:55Speaker 3: We needed a coach.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Yeah, y'all need a damn coach.
- 43:57Speaker 3: We just like had the bullet points, you know what
- 43:59Speaker 3: I'm saying? Just one bullet point. Yep.
- 44:04Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 44:04Speaker 3: Just get to the point.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it, honey. We're not wasting anybody's time up here.
- 44:09Speaker 3: Don't balloon.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Yeah, we got to get these crops out of the ground.
- 44:12Speaker 1: That's it. We do not have time to waste. Yeah.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Did you ever, did you tune in with a lot
- 44:18Speaker 1: of that JonBenet stuff? Did you ever tune in with it?
- 44:21Speaker 1: You know what?
- 44:21Speaker 3: Being a kid, I remember a little something about all that.
- 44:25Speaker 3: But is there a new show or something that's out
- 44:29Speaker 3: about it right now?
- 44:30Speaker 1: No, I don't think so. There was one that came
- 44:32Speaker 1: out last year.
- 44:33Speaker 3: Was it?
- 44:34Speaker 1: And I watched it. I think it's one of those
- 44:36Speaker 1: weird things because a little kid was like this. And
- 44:41Speaker 1: so I started thinking about it. I think, and I
- 44:45Speaker 1: know he's not going to be happy to hear me
- 44:46Speaker 1: say this, and I'd love to have him come on
- 44:48Speaker 1: the podcast and talk about it sometime. The dad did it.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Really?
- 44:52Speaker 1: I shouldn't have said that or he might have come on. Really?
- 44:56Speaker 3: So did they, they did find her though?
- 44:57Speaker 1: I don't think you did it, sir.
- 44:59Speaker 3: Did they find her?
- 45:00Speaker 1: Yeah, they found her. They found her. She wasn't alive
- 45:03Speaker 1: when they found her. Some people think she's still alive.
- 45:08Speaker 1: But yeah, anyway, sorry to bring the buzz down. I
- 45:10Speaker 1: just didn't know if.
- 45:12Speaker 3: That was so, what year was that? I was like
- 45:15Speaker 3: early nineties. Ninety six.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Ooh, 96, baby. Dang.
- 45:19Speaker 3: That is so strange.
- 45:21Speaker 1: I know.
- 45:21Speaker 3: Strange.
- 45:22Speaker 1: But did you get caught up like that? Was there
- 45:24Speaker 1: people in there, out there? Were you like, oh, this kid.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Were you guys that deep in the trenches of it?
- 45:30Speaker 3: Oh, no. No, no, no, no. We went to the
- 45:33Speaker 3: consignment shop and bought the dress they had. That's the
- 45:39Speaker 3: one I wore. You know what I'm saying?
- 45:41Speaker 1: Yeah, you guys were just kind of last-minute pageant.
- 45:43Speaker 3: We're just like, or a double-up for the Farm Bureau
- 45:47Speaker 3: pageant I was like, I'm going to wear my prom
- 45:49Speaker 3: dress for, like, we got to get our money's worth,
- 45:52Speaker 3: you know?
- 45:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:54Speaker 3: So that's what I did.
- 45:55Speaker 1: I like that.
- 45:57Speaker 3: That's what I did.
- 45:57Speaker 1: I like that.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Were you ever in pageants?
- 46:02Speaker 1: No, we didn't have that. They did have a good,
- 46:04Speaker 1: but I didn't have any direction as a child, and
- 46:06Speaker 1: I did get to dress myself for photo days and
- 46:08Speaker 1: stuff like that.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Did you? Like, what would you put on?
- 46:11Speaker 1: I'd do a tank top sometimes. I would do.
- 46:14Speaker 3: Tank tops.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I did one year I did a costume-like kind
- 46:17Speaker 1: of thing.
- 46:20Speaker 3: The wheelchair costume?
- 46:21Speaker 1: No, skeleton. And then one year I did do a
- 46:25Speaker 1: nice outfit. It was kind of like a bow tie
- 46:26Speaker 1: and stuff like that. Maybe see if you can search
- 46:28Speaker 1: that up real quick so you can find me in
- 46:30Speaker 1: a little bow tie.
- 46:31Speaker 3: Let's go. You were like, I'm going to dress nice today.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I'd seen somebody else dress nice, and I
- 46:37Speaker 1: was like, oh, I see what they're doing.
- 46:38Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I see what these bastards are doing. Uh-huh.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Oh, there's one.
- 46:44Speaker 1: That's when I lived in Russia for a little while.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Different times.
- 46:49Speaker 3: Right there. Yeah, there you.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Go, boy. Let's go. Look at that ear pierce, too, boy.
- 46:54Speaker 3: That hair. I had glasses, too. I was blind as
- 46:57Speaker 3: a cat.
- 46:57Speaker 1: That's you. That's a picture of you.
- 46:58Speaker 3: That's actually me. That's me.
- 47:00Speaker 1: What if that picture were you and I looked the same?
- 47:02Speaker 1: That would be crazy.
- 47:04Speaker 3: We're brother and sister.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Man.
- 47:07Speaker 1: God, those were the days. That was fun.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Look at that.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Being alive, piercing your own ear. Did you do that?
- 47:14Speaker 3: Did you pierce your own ear?
- 47:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I did.
- 47:15Speaker 3: What did you pierce it with?
- 47:16Speaker 1: I'm a man.
- 47:17Speaker 3: I did not. I went to the Claire's in the mall.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Y'all did? God.
- 47:23Speaker 3: I was just a little baby. My mama got my
- 47:24Speaker 3: ears pierced when I was like a few months old.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Uh-uh. Really?
- 47:27Speaker 3: Brought me home and my daddy was mad.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Yeah. You got it looking like it is kind of crazy.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Your kid can't even see that good. And you got dang,
- 47:39Speaker 1: you know, you got earrings. Yeah.
- 47:41Speaker 3: Like feather earrings.
- 47:42Speaker 1: You got some big hoops coming off her or something. Hey.
- 47:46Speaker 1: What's the youngest you can get a child's ears pierced
- 47:49Speaker 1: in America? There's got to be a two-week.
- 47:53Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 47:53Speaker 1: There's got to be like a catch-and-release type of thing
- 47:56Speaker 1: or something. What's the youngest age to pierce a child's ear?
- 48:00Speaker 3: Two months.
- 48:02Speaker 1: What is it?
- 48:02Speaker 3: Around two to four.
- 48:05Speaker 1: After that vaccine, it says.
- 48:06Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Because I guess they put in that. metal or semi-precious
- 48:11Speaker 1: metal through year. You can't be allergic to things that
- 48:14Speaker 1: are semi-precious. So that's it. When, when you're touring, are
- 48:21Speaker 1: you choosing places to go now? Or like, what's that like?
- 48:24Speaker 3: Well, it's kind of like mapped out to the point
- 48:26Speaker 3: where it's like, I don't know how it is for you.
- 48:28Speaker 3: It's like, we want to try to make sure that,
- 48:30Speaker 3: you know, we're letting the demand build back up in
- 48:34Speaker 3: that city and things like that. And then, um, Trying
- 48:37Speaker 3: to make sure that we are going to different places,
- 48:39Speaker 3: you know, kind of like popping in some of these
- 48:41Speaker 3: little corners that we hadn't really got to hit just yet. So, yeah,
- 48:45Speaker 3: it's like a team effort of just figuring out where
- 48:48Speaker 3: we're going. We're about to go back to Australia.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:50Speaker 3: You been to Australia?
- 48:51Speaker 1: So good. Did you go to Bondi Beach?
- 48:54Speaker 3: I have not been to Bondi.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Bring it up real quick just so you don't forget
- 48:57Speaker 1: to go. It's worth going. It's like 18 minutes outside
- 49:00Speaker 1: of Sydney.
- 49:01Speaker 3: Okay. And you just take a ferry?
- 49:03Speaker 1: No, you can drive right there.
- 49:04Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 49:05Speaker 1: Yeah. It's the most beautiful beach I've seen that's not
- 49:07Speaker 1: like a super tropical place, if that makes any sense.
- 49:11Speaker 3: Got it. So it's kind of like a city on
- 49:13Speaker 3: the beach.
- 49:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:15Speaker 1: Wow.
- 49:16Speaker 3: Man, I'd love to do that.
- 49:18Speaker 1: If you have a family and stuff, do you think
- 49:19Speaker 1: you'll raise them? over there in nashville or not do
- 49:21Speaker 1: you know.
- 49:21Speaker 3: I will you will i will i think nashville is
- 49:25Speaker 3: just a good spot like even if you know music
- 49:28Speaker 3: wasn't a thing i think it's just i think they
- 49:29Speaker 3: got like good schools and um and I feel like
- 49:33Speaker 3: you can go far out right now. You can go
- 49:35Speaker 3: far out enough on any side and still feel like
- 49:38Speaker 3: you're in the country. You know, I want to, I
- 49:41Speaker 3: want to raise my kids like I did, like playing
- 49:44Speaker 3: in the dirt. And, um, I don't know. I just
- 49:48Speaker 3: want them to like be outside and, and do the
- 49:51Speaker 3: things that we grew up doing. You know what I'm saying?
- 49:53Speaker 3: And like, just enjoy those things too. Cause man, you
- 49:57Speaker 3: see these kids at these supper tables on their iPads
- 50:00Speaker 3: and on cell phones. I'm like, Gosh.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Grilling like digital meats and stuff on there.
- 50:06Speaker 3: Yeah. Me and Duck took some kids that he coached
- 50:11Speaker 3: last year to eat Mexican food not too long ago.
- 50:14Speaker 3: And these two little boys across from us.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Sorry, that's just a great, that's like, it's kind of like,
- 50:24Speaker 1: that's the Louisiana way of kind of saying we're having
- 50:26Speaker 1: a United Nations meeting.
- 50:28Speaker 3: Exactly. That's what was happening.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Look, look, honey, look.
- 50:31Speaker 3: Yeah, but these two boys sitting across from us, they
- 50:35Speaker 3: were twins, and they were just, like, for 17 years old, like,
- 50:41Speaker 3: carrying on, great conversation, making eye contact. Like, it was–
- 50:47Speaker 3: you could just tell that they were, like, raised right.
- 50:50Speaker 3: And then I realized they said they had never had
- 50:52Speaker 3: social media. And I was like, that's why you can
- 50:57Speaker 3: carry on a conversation? Mm-hmm. Dang.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Dang. Well, a lot of people are homeschooling their kids now, too,
- 51:04Speaker 1: and keeping everything away from them, you know?
- 51:08Speaker 3: Which I'm not trying to, like, you know, keep everything
- 51:11Speaker 3: away from them because I think then you kind of
- 51:14Speaker 3: mess up, you know?
- 51:15Speaker 1: Well, they said there's pedophiles in the roadblocks now. That's
- 51:18Speaker 1: what I heard yesterday. You know? And, yeah, I've heard it.
- 51:23Speaker 3: Uh-huh. They're everywhere.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Well, yeah, but I didn't think they were in the roadblocks, honey,
- 51:29Speaker 1: you know? I know they're right in these streets. Roblox
- 51:31Speaker 1: facing mounting lawsuits as parents across U.S. alleged company enables
- 51:34Speaker 1: child predators. Stop. So I just want you to think
- 51:37Speaker 1: I'm making that up.
- 51:38Speaker 5: Stop.
- 51:40Speaker 1: That's how I feel, too. I discontinued my account. I
- 51:42Speaker 1: just only had it for two weeks.
- 51:43Speaker 3: You have to be protecting and watching.
- 51:49Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. You could do homeschooling.
- 51:52Speaker 3: I want you to homeschool my kids. I'd love for you.
- 51:56Speaker 3: Uncle Theo.
- 52:00Speaker 1: All right. Dude, that would be so great.
- 52:04Speaker 3: That would be terrible.
- 52:05Speaker 1: What are you talking about, man?
- 52:08Speaker 3: You would teach them something. You would teach them. You
- 52:10Speaker 3: would educate them.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Oh, hell yeah.
- 52:13Speaker 3: You would educate them.
- 52:14Speaker 1: I'd teach them how to do CPR.
- 52:16Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 52:17Speaker 1: With a. unique style that a lot of people don't do.
- 52:21Speaker 3: Which is what?
- 52:22Speaker 1: A lot of people breathe straight into the lungs. I
- 52:23Speaker 1: kind of take a roundabout pattern.
- 52:25Speaker 3: What are you like people's elbow on or something?
- 52:27Speaker 1: I do different stuff. Okay.
- 52:29Speaker 3: But are you really certified?
- 52:32Speaker 1: Decent success rate. Yeah. I'm certified in CPR, honey.
- 52:36Speaker 3: Are you really? I need to see like a badge
- 52:38Speaker 3: or something. I don't believe it. Hey, I'm deputized. Did
- 52:43Speaker 3: you know that? I'm deputized.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Are you?
- 52:47Speaker 3: Yes.
- 52:48Speaker 1: Just by somebody in town that was a sheriff gave
- 52:50Speaker 1: you one?
- 52:50Speaker 3: In Richland Parish. They asked my daddy to be a deputy.
- 52:54Speaker 3: You better quit. And then daddy was like, I'll do
- 53:00Speaker 3: it if Laney can do it.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that.
- 53:02Speaker 3: So I went up there and got sworn in.
- 53:04Speaker 1: Did you? I love that, dude. I was at a
- 53:06Speaker 1: Vols game like probably a year and a half ago.
- 53:08Speaker 1: And some guy up there, and I won't say he
- 53:10Speaker 1: was an alcoholic, but he had drunk a lot and
- 53:13Speaker 1: he probably drunk most of his life. And you could
- 53:16Speaker 1: tell because some of his kids didn't even talk to
- 53:17Speaker 1: him or whatever. But anyway, what I was saying was
- 53:21Speaker 1: he was like kind of he was getting drunk. And
- 53:24Speaker 1: I said, I'm going to go downstairs and say to somebody.
- 53:28Speaker 1: And he goes, well, look, man, if you have any
- 53:29Speaker 1: trouble down there, he goes, I'm a sheriff. Just flash
- 53:31Speaker 1: my badge. You know, this guy gave me a sheriff's badge. Right.
- 53:36Speaker 1: So I didn't know how they work or whatever. So
- 53:38Speaker 1: I'm down there talking. And then something happened in this
- 53:41Speaker 1: area where like some people started like we're kind of
- 53:44Speaker 1: talking shit to each other and stuff. So I just
- 53:46Speaker 1: break this thing out, right?
- 53:48Speaker 3: You're lying.
- 53:49Speaker 1: I swear.
- 53:49Speaker 3: You got the right to moon silence.
- 53:51Speaker 1: No, I didn't do that, dude. I'm not a cop.
- 53:57Speaker 1: I'm a sheriff, dude. I'm just, sheriffs just raise the badge.
- 54:00Speaker 3: That's right, that's right, that's right.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Yeah, and then they go get something to eat. You
- 54:03Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? Yes. But I flash that thing,
- 54:07Speaker 1: and then a real cop, a female, a police officer,
- 54:10Speaker 1: kind of like pushed me up against the wall, and
- 54:13Speaker 1: she's like, What's going on here? And she was like
- 54:18Speaker 1: reprimanding me for having a fake identification or whatever. And
- 54:22Speaker 1: I was like, the guy gave it to me, you know?
- 54:26Speaker 1: But it was spooky for a minute. I thought they
- 54:28Speaker 1: were going to take me.
- 54:28Speaker 3: You thought you were really about to get in trouble.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Yeah. It was like that.
- 54:32Speaker 3: When was that?
- 54:33Speaker 1: Probably two years ago or maybe a year and a half.
- 54:36Speaker 1: I think they were playing Georgia or something. And they
- 54:38Speaker 1: got their tails kicked. Tennessee did. But yeah. But I
- 54:42Speaker 1: remember like, God, that guy's. the worst sheriff, whatever. Like
- 54:45Speaker 1: he didn't even, he didn't give me any, he's just like. Yeah.
- 54:47Speaker 3: Like he could have told you. Yeah.
- 54:49Speaker 1: If you got a piss somewhere or just whatever, that
- 54:52Speaker 1: shit gets heavy. You splash this bitch. And I flash
- 54:55Speaker 1: that bitch. And I just.
- 54:56Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Right up against the wall. That lady had me. I
- 55:01Speaker 1: was pretty nervous, but I respect her. She's doing her
- 55:03Speaker 1: job right there.
- 55:04Speaker 3: That's right.
- 55:05Speaker 1: Um, Oh, that doesn't look like me. First of all,
- 55:09Speaker 1: that looks like a pretty decent-looking woman in the town
- 55:11Speaker 1: I'm from. I will say that.
- 55:15Speaker 3: Oh, I remember them haircuts, yes.
- 55:17Speaker 1: Oh, God, yeah. We had our bus driver. We cut
- 55:19Speaker 1: everybody's hair.
- 55:20Speaker 3: Your bus driver cut people's hair?
- 55:22Speaker 1: Mr. Ray, yeah. He had a barbershop. I don't know
- 55:25Speaker 1: if he had a barbershop.
- 55:25Speaker 3: I thought you meant as y'all were walking off the bus,
- 55:27Speaker 3: he just.
- 55:28Speaker 1: He would pull over probably six times a year. He'd
- 55:32Speaker 1: have those clippers going. He'd get everybody in there cut up.
- 55:36Speaker 3: You are lying.
- 55:36Speaker 1: 40 minutes, he'd cut everybody on that thing.
- 55:39Speaker 3: That is hilarious.
- 55:40Speaker 1: He'd walk right off that thing.
- 55:41Speaker 3: Everybody would be looking slick walking off there.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Pretty slick enough.
- 55:45Speaker 3: With their ears lowered.
- 55:46Speaker 1: And the best thing is if everybody looks the same,
- 55:48Speaker 1: nobody looks better or worse.
- 55:51Speaker 3: You ever had like a real bad haircut? I mean
- 55:56Speaker 3: like a real, real bad haircut. I mean.
- 55:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I've had almost all of them. I think if
- 56:01Speaker 1: you just look through pictures of me online, you'll see them.
- 56:03Speaker 2: You're right.
- 56:04Speaker 1: I've had one. Yeah, I went to that Roberts Beauty
- 56:06Speaker 1: College or something that was in our town. And they
- 56:09Speaker 1: were running a special. It was like 75 cents to
- 56:10Speaker 1: get your hair cut. And I was like, well, at
- 56:12Speaker 1: that price, I.
- 56:13Speaker 3: Got to go over there.
- 56:15Speaker 1: 100%.
- 56:16Speaker 3: You got to see what it's about.
- 56:16Speaker 1: It must just be a great deal. And so I
- 56:20Speaker 1: got in there. I got in there, dude. And they
- 56:22Speaker 1: were letting... People that were just like, I don't even
- 56:26Speaker 1: know if they were haircut. Some of them were just
- 56:27Speaker 1: like recovering mechanics and stuff. They were letting anybody who
- 56:31Speaker 1: could keep their hands stable enough in that bitch, they
- 56:33Speaker 1: put a pair of scissors in them. And yeah, they
- 56:36Speaker 1: did stuff to me, man. I still will never be
- 56:38Speaker 1: the same. I walked out of there. And I had
- 56:40Speaker 1: to walk home. It was about two and a half miles.
- 56:42Speaker 1: And the whole time I was so just depressed. And
- 56:44Speaker 1: I kept trying to get a good reflection on my
- 56:46Speaker 1: head and different things I was walking by.
- 56:47Speaker 3: Dude, a bad haircut, like a real bad haircut can.
- 56:54Speaker 3: It can be painful.
- 56:54Speaker 1: Well, especially as a man, because it's like you don't have,
- 56:57Speaker 1: as a man, you're not going to grow breasts or
- 57:01Speaker 1: you can't wear lipstick. So like you were down O2
- 57:05Speaker 1: in your chances of.
- 57:06Speaker 4: That's right.
- 57:06Speaker 3: And then you just got to wait for it to
- 57:07Speaker 3: grow back.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Yeah. So you have one item going on. You know,
- 57:11Speaker 1: maybe you can do eye drops, but otherwise it is
- 57:14Speaker 1: a haircut.
- 57:14Speaker 3: It is a haircut. Duck dyed his hair bleach blonde.
- 57:18Speaker 1: No, for what? As a joke.
- 57:19Speaker 3: What kind of joke was it? Well, I don't know,
- 57:22Speaker 3: but I'm going to tell you right now, I didn't
- 57:23Speaker 3: think it was funny. I didn't think it was funny.
- 57:26Speaker 3: I said, you better sleep with a ball cap on
- 57:28Speaker 3: until that thing grows out. Now it's starting to look
- 57:31Speaker 3: like frosted tips.
- 57:32Speaker 1: Uh-uh, really? Well, take him down to damn Panama City
- 57:35Speaker 1: and let him make a little.
- 57:36Speaker 3: Bit of money. That's where he did it.
- 57:37Speaker 1: Uh-uh.
- 57:38Speaker 3: As a joke, we were playing Panama City, and my
- 57:41Speaker 3: mama and his mama had this bright idea.
- 57:44Speaker 1: They all got it done?
- 57:46Speaker 3: No, they just did his. They just did his. And
- 57:51Speaker 3: they videoed my reaction to seeing it.
- 57:53Speaker 1: They did?
- 57:54Speaker 3: And it was like.
- 57:56Speaker 1: Let me see. If you can find it, pull that up.
- 57:58Speaker 1: I want to see that.
- 57:58Speaker 3: My mouth was wide open. I was like, uh-uh, no.
- 58:01Speaker 3: The wedding's off. Wedding's off, bro.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Wedding's off, bro. Who's going to play at your wedding?
- 58:09Speaker 1: Do you have to play at your own wedding if
- 58:10Speaker 1: you're like a really good musician? No.
- 58:12Speaker 3: No.
- 58:13Speaker 1: No.
- 58:15Speaker 3: I don't want it to be about what it's supposed
- 58:17Speaker 3: to be about that day. You know what I'm saying?
- 58:19Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. The love, the nuptials.
- 58:21Speaker 3: I might write him a song or something and share
- 58:26Speaker 3: it later on or whatever before. But I don't know.
- 58:30Speaker 3: I'm just like.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I just didn't know if you have to play
- 58:33Speaker 1: it your own. I never thought about that.
- 58:35Speaker 3: I'm not. I want to have some kind of jazz
- 58:38Speaker 3: band or something like that.
- 58:39Speaker 1: Ooh, Big X the Plug.
- 58:40Speaker 3: Big X the Plug.
- 58:42Speaker 1: He could do it.
- 58:42Speaker 3: Which I loved y'all's interview.
- 58:44Speaker 1: Yeah, he's great.
- 58:45Speaker 3: He is great.
- 58:46Speaker 1: We went and watched a show in Nashville when he
- 58:48Speaker 1: was there. It was fun.
- 58:49Speaker 3: It was?
- 58:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, it's great energy, you know?
- 58:53Speaker 3: Where was he playing?
- 58:54Speaker 1: He was playing over at.
- 58:56Speaker 3: Not Brooklyn Bowl. You're talking about Brooklyn Bowl.
- 58:59Speaker 1: Yep. He was playing at Brooklyn Bowl.
- 59:00Speaker 3: Got it.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Yeah. It was good. I saw Red Clay Strays. Where
- 59:04Speaker 1: did I see them at?
- 59:05Speaker 3: They are so good.
- 59:06Speaker 1: I saw a video of you guys singing, right? You
- 59:08Speaker 1: and Brandon. Yep. Yep.
- 59:10Speaker 3: In Canada yeah he's he's the real deal oh I
- 59:15Speaker 3: mean they put on a hell of a show I'm
- 59:17Speaker 3: just a fan I've yeah I think that uh it's
- 59:21Speaker 3: just like timeless it's like they stepped out of another
- 59:24Speaker 3: like time and They're just doing something so different. I
- 59:28Speaker 3: don't know. I'm just a big old fan.
- 59:32Speaker 1: And their audience, it's a lot of men, too, are
- 59:33Speaker 1: their fans, I realized.
- 59:35Speaker 5: Yes.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Yeah, let me see a little bit of that. That's cool.
- 59:44Speaker 4: He's cool.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Oh. Pass the hat. I'll put some money in that.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: I'll put my second born in that hat.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: That's special, huh?
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: Yeah, he's cool.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Have you guys done a song together? No. Do you
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: like to do a lot of collaborations like that, or
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: do you not like it?
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: Well, no.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: It seems to be really hot right now, too.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: I love collaborations, but I was doing a bunch of
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: collaborations there for a minute.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. You did another one with Hardy that
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: I loved.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: Wait in a truck.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Oh, I forgot that was in a truck, too.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: Truck, truck.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Look, sorry to say that. I don't care if you
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: stay in it. God, I don't care if I just.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: I don't care if one of your songs talks about
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: a dang CarMax, I'm still going to listen to them.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Well, I ain't going to do that.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Okay, okay.
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: I ain't going to do that. I ain't going to
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: do that.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: I forgot about weight in the truck, too.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: Mm-hmm. Weight in the truck, four by four by you,
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: heart like a truck.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: Truck, truck, and we got one, like I said, coming,
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: King Ranch, King George, King James.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I got a damn heart like a damn little
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: 50cc motorcycle, honey. Yeah, I got a heart. Got a
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: damn outboard motor on it. I got a heart.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: I got a heart that's got damn training wheels on it.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: My nephew just FaceTimed me the other day.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: Did he? Knox?
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: With no training wheels. Ledger. That's the four-year-old. He was like,
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: call Aunt Wainey. So right when I think they don't
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: love me, he says stuff like that to my sister.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: They tap in?
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: Call Aunt Wainey and show her. I'm like, oh, see,
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: y'all do love me.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Did you know that your money could grow on its own? No,

- 1:05:39Speaker 1: I think it would be fun to teach a kid
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: something cool, you know? If I had me a little kid.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: I think I would do homeschooling. If my wife wants
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: to do homeschooling, I would be for it. But I
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: don't want the homeschool kid that stays at home and
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: never meets any kids, even on the weekend or whatever.
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: I'm going to set your ass up. Let me think
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: who I can set you up with.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: You are?
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: I'm going to set you up.
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: What's your type?
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Woman.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: Just a full-grown woman.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, yeah, obviously. Uh, but yeah, adult woman,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: positive attitude, warm eyes, wants to be a mom.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: What else? Hard worker.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: Right. So a nurse, I think I would like, but
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: I think I may just say that because of hard worker. Yeah. But. Okay.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: I got to pray a little bit more about it
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: too and just help get my kind of sights lined up,
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: you know, let the Lord kind of.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: I'm going to tell you right now. Do something good.
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: He can.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: He can. He, I'll be praying for it too.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Thanks. Cause I, I, you can meet people, but
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: you gotta like, you know, you just gotta meet the
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: right one. Sometimes you just gotta be patient too.
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: That's right. And he'll make it clear.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: He always does. And I always heard that wah, wah,
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: wah about, you know, when you know, and all that stuff.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: But like, I, I do believe it now.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Did you lock, did you make like a little, um, list,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: list or altar or whatever?
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: An altar or like a, yeah, yeah. I made a
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: list of like, I went through some doozies. I'm talking
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: about like stuff I'm, I'm embarrassed about now. You know
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: what I'm saying? I'm sorry. God bless you. Um, but
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: embarrassed to think that I let somebody do me that way.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: And then, uh, and then met somebody who just would
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: never in a million years. But I did like, I
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: took a few years to myself. Didn't even go on
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: a date. Like, But also nobody asked me out either. Like,
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: wouldn't nobody ask me out? And, um, but those years
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: were like really important for me. And I figured out,
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, like no more playing around. Like I'm,
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: I'm the next person I'm dating. Like it's gotta be,
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: I'm not going to spend a few years of my
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: life with this person if it's not like going in
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: the direction that, that it's supposed to. And, um, so
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: I was like, okay, yes, I want somebody who is like,
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: you just said like hard work and, And I hate
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: to say that this is even a quality on my list,
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: but loyal. You know, that should just be. It should
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: just be. Yeah. You know, it shouldn't be a quality.
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: It is kind of true.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: I know. We've gotten to a sad place.
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: That I'm going to be their only spouse.
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I would love to be their only spouse. But, yeah,
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: I think write it down.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I just have to be more intentional about it,
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: you know. Mm-hmm. I've done some of that, but I
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: want to do even more of it because I want
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: to see how fine-tuned could you get that arrow, you know,
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: if you really locked in with some intention. But I
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: do notice myself not spending time, like a lot of times,
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: like wasting it in areas, you know, or trying not
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: to spend my time wasting it in certain areas, you know.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: Yes. It's just kind of like cutting the crap.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: And I think that's a big step. right there.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Right, is you deciding, yeah.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: Is just being like, just no more.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: I want something.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: And then only the real thing can find you at
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: that point.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: You're going to find somebody. She's going to be badass.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: She better be. I'll tell you, I'm already pissed at
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: her a little.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: Are you?
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm mad at her too.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: Thank you. I've got a couple notes in my phone.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: I'm texting her right whenever I get her number.
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: That's it.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: Because I'm definitely got you.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: She's going to have to be. I'm just trying to
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: envision what this chick is going to be like.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: She better work out of town sometime. I'm telling you that.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: Because I don't want her messing my house up.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: That's it. That's it. That's it.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: I think the big thing I realized, I want to
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: be able to have kids that have like a nice,
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: like an emotionally well upbringing. So that's what I need,
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: like an emotionally well woman.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: Yes, just a good girl, like just well-rounded.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll find it. Maybe she has a couple animals
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: or something. Or we could get some animals. Because sometimes
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: you meet a woman, they already got too many animals.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: You could see they're trying to do their own little
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: zoo or something.
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: Yeah, put that horse in the front yard on a
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: front porch, you know. That's how y'all gonna live.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: Well, that was my old way to meet a woman,
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: just put that horse in the front yard, you know?
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: But I'm not doing that anymore.
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: Now the horse needs to go in the back.
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: Yeah. But I can't live like that anymore. What else?
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: You have a movie that's coming up. Is that true? Yeah.
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: Reminders of Him.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Reminders of Him.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: Reminders of Him.
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: Colleen Hoover. And I will say I'm very excited about it.
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: It was an opportunity for me to kind of dipped
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: my toes a little bit into being something other than
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: a musician, which was fun.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: One of you done in some Yellowstone, right? Yeah. Was
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: this more like extensive than that or like what was
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: different about it?
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: This, you know, it probably took me three or four
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: days to like film my part. And I feel like
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: with Yellowstone, because I was in like several different episodes,
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: it was probably like a little bit more film and
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: But I had fun. I had fun. I feel like
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: I kind of found myself within the character. I realized that, okay,
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: maybe I don't have to be playing music to feel
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: like I can play the character.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Dang, Lainey.
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: Which is cool.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: Who knows?
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: I want to do a comedy.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: Do you? God, that would be good. You'd be so
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: good at it. We should make one then.
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: Let's do it.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: Me and David Spade wrote a movie. It's almost done.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: I can't talk about it anymore on the podcast because
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: we've talked about it on too many episodes. But we're
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: editing it right now.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: Is that so fun?
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: The editing itself is a nightmare, but it's fun.
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: Got it.
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: It's like a puzzle. You're like figuring out, okay, we've
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: got to move this here. How do we move this?
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: What do we do?
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: So it's probably like putting a record together.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. It's been a big learning experience. It's been good,
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: I think. But, yeah, you definitely start to see like, oh,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: I could do more of these or figure out how
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: to do it or create different ones, like funny ideas. Yep.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Are you going to start, like, a festival back at
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: home or anything? Do you think you've thought about that?
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: We've talked about it. I mean, we've... Like.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: Do you feel like you have to? I guess it becomes, like,
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: a thing.
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: I definitely, like, would love to be able to do
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: something specifically, like, for my community. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: Yeah, just, you know, just to, like, bring in some
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: more people, some more fans. And, like, just even last year,
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: we played a couple shows in Monroe back to back,
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: and I heard that a lot of people had lots
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: of business that week, and that's important. I want people
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: to flourish and do well. This is a community that
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: believed in me before anybody did. So I would love
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: to do something like that at some point, but it
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: takes a lot of, like I want to do it right. Yeah.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: It's got to be right.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: Yeah. You want to definitely have some crawfish trucks out front.
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: Crawfish trucks.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: That'd be it. I wonder what your festival would be
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: called if you had a festival over there.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: I don't know. What would it be called?
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: I don't know. You got to think. I mean, it's
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: got to be like a neat critter that's from the area,
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: I guess, kind of. I mean, it could just be
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: the Laney Wilson Festival.
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: No, there's something cooler.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: Well, there's something probably that has a little more critter
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: in it.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: Yeah, we definitely need a critter.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, you have a decent amount of critter,
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: it seems like. I'm not trying to uncritter you or whatever.
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: You kind of uncritter me.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: I didn't think I could. Dude, did you ever go
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: on like, I remember you told me that you went
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: on this horrible date one time. It was like a
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: Valentine's date. Remember we made a little cartoon about it?
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: Oh, reds are red, violets are black. Why is your
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: chest as flat as your back?
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: But dude, it reminded me. So one time when I
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: was a kid, I stole my mom's car, bartered, whatever
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: you did. You know, you're like 13. And this girl
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: down the street, dude, had she was just looking pretty
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: good you know and she was like willing to sneak
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: out of her house at night right.
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: So i was like was she the same age yeah
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: same age so.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: I was like i'm gonna go pick her up and
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: we're gonna go out to this like boat launch area
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: that you can park the car out there and dance
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: a little bit and put on some country music put
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: on some top 40 or whatever you know they play
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: some strawberry wine or maybe some um i'm trying to
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: think of whatever else maybe some uh John Michael Montgomery.
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: You know, something that'll just keep my eyes open, you know?
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: So anyway, pick her up. And this girl always wore
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: like a two-piece bathing suit because she was on the
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: swim team at school, right? So anyway, but I don't
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: even know why I said that. But anyway.
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: Well, I needed the visual.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: Anyway, picked her up. We go out there. We're listening
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: to some music. A car comes across the parking lot,
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: goes into the water, and starts to sink. We're the
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: only people.
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: You are lying.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: Swear. We're the only people out there. It goes right
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: off the boat launch and then starts to sink. And
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: the headlights are up towards the top of the water.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: The car sinks.
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: You are lying.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: No. And it's me and her. And I'm like, oh,
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: my God. I'm out here. We still want. I can't
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: call the police. What do I even do? I'm going
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: to get in trouble, right?
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: Did you jump in the water?
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: We run right over there to the thing, and I
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: was like, we got to do something. What if somebody's
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: in there? We're the only people out there. And she's like, okay,
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: on the count of three, we'll jump in. And I'm like, dude,
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: you don't do the count of three, dude. If somebody
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: is drowning in a car, you know what I'm saying? One, two.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: You don't waste people's time that are drowning if you
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: can just jump in, right? On the count of three.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: So anyway, she goes, I was like, all right. She's like, no,
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: we have to do it. I was like, all right.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: She goes, one, two, three. I jump. She doesn't even jump.
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: You are lying. And she's a swimmer.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: She's a swimmer. And I'm not that great of a swimmer.
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: Man, that's a life lesson right there. Oh, yeah.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. That's why. You need to pick
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: a woman who is willing to go that extra mile.
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: That's it.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Because there's a lot of these fake ass swim team
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: bitches out there. But anyway, moving on. Anyway, I reached
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: down in the car. I get underwater, reach down in
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: the car. and I feel like the car seat and stuff. And, um,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: they had like one of those like covers on the
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: car seat. That was like that fur, you know, you know,
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: they had the white first cover. Sometimes it was like,
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: I don't know. It wasn't like Dalmatian. It was something nice,
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: you know, or light something. It was fake probably. Yeah.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: But anyway, yeah. Something like that. Wolf or something. And, uh,
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: so I touch it and that scared me so much.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: I thought, I don't know if it was somebody skid
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: just like, so I start kind of vomit like underwater.
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: I'm like, getting sick, get back up above the water.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: Now I can't hold my breath to go down, right?
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: Like the car's completely underwater. So get out. We run
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: back to the car, drive to this bar that was
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: close by. And we started just like, we ran inside
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: and we're like, this car went off into the water.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: There's like six people in this bar. They all clear
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: out of there. And then they all run down to,
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: they'll drive down or run down to this, to the dock.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: And people are jumping in the water, saying some lady's
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: name or something. Got in my mom's car, left.
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: So you don't know what happened?
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: Mm-mm. Left, wasn't going to stay around.
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: There was somebody in there, wasn't it?
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: I don't know, but.
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: How did the news not come out in the town
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: or anything?
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: I mean, we were kids, so I don't think we
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: would have heard it probably because it was more adult stuff.
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: So did your mama ever know that you took the car?
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: She does now.
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: She does? Sorry, mama.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: Almost saved that woman, mama. And if you'd have let
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: me borrow your freaking car without a freaking ass, I
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: probably would have been able to save her. I wouldn't
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: have to sneak back home. But yeah, I think that
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: was something.
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: I'm still thinking about the girl not jumping with you.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: Oh, it's unbelievable.
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: You can't say on the count of three and then
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: not go.
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: And who has time to do count of three? Somebody's drowning.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: You're like, all right, one, two. You don't do that.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: I don't know whatever happened to her. Dude, there was
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: a beautiful girl in my town that kissed me one
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: time by a fire and then I never, ever, ever
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: saw her again.
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: That's how it goes.
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: God. Uh-huh.
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: Wonder where she's at. You remember her?
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: I don't know. Yes, I remember her.
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: We need to get in touch with her.
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: Ain't she letting me brush her hair for almost 15
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: minutes out there?
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: You literally just had a brush and you were just
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: combing her hair?
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: She brought it. I'm not that creepy, yeah. But yeah,
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: I helped her out. That was my 4-H.
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: That was your 4-H. It was.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: What is this? Oh, did you see Justin Bieber showed up?
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: This fake one?
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: What's he talking about?
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: They had a fake Justin Bieber showed up the other night.
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: To where?
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: In las vegas and everybody thought that it was him
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: i'm like this does not even seem like him no
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: it seems like chet hanks just had a long weekend
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: kind of what in the world But there were literally,
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: I guess, like thousands of people following this guy.
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: Watching everyone get scammed is wild. So many people get
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: scammed nowadays.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: I just saw the other day that we're at one
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: of the biggest scamming times. What are some of the
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: biggest online scams? Have they had any Lainey Wilson impersonators?
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: Oh, my God. I mean, I don't know about, like,
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: dressing up like that and whatever, but I'm just talking about, like,
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: online in general, like, the amount of messages I get about.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: Oh, ticket scamming, all that stuff?
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: Well, just, like, people who think that they are, like,
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: actually in a relationship with me and stuff because, like,
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: somebody's pretending to be me. And so it's really bad.
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: I ruined a couple marriages on accident. Didn't even mean to.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: You didn't.
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: Yes, I sure did.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: Lainey. Yeah.
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: They're like my husband of 30 years believes he's talking
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: to you and this and that and whatever yes and
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: i'm like oh no and what do.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: You have to do then you can't.
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: Call there's literally nothing like there's there's nothing i can
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: do um i'm just besides like telling y'all about it
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: Yeah if you are not married to lenny wilson you
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: are not married to lenny wilson so.
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: That's well you think it ought to be that simple
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: but i mean i've heard i've heard all kind of
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: stuff i was uh I mean, one woman got scammed
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: by a buddy of mine, and she showed up to
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: the show, had her bag packed and everything, and was
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: just waiting there. Like, I'm going with him. And they
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: were like, no, ma'am. But she had been communicating with
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: somebody online.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: And thought it was him.
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: And thought it was him.
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: Dang.
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: It's getting that real. I guess I would be shocked.
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: How could you think it would go that real online,
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: you know?
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: What I've noticed is it's like a certain age group online.
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: of uh it's probably like lonely lonely people right um
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: whether they're married or not they're lonely right and um
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: and i don't know it's just like they just find
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: like the right person they must try it to a
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: million people to find the right person to actually convince
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: yeah you know and and they're asking for money and
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: they they just uh give them lots of money lots
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: of money and it's sad it is sad.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: I just, I guess, I mean, like, I guess I'm
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: trying to give somebody emailed me and said I am,
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of somebody that would really have
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: me just fired up probably. Can't even think of anybody
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: off the top of my head. Probably like a night
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: nurse or whatever, like a ICU nurse.
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: No, that's not it. It'd have to be somebody, like,
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: you know publicly probably. Huh.
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: Somebody that you'd be like, I can't believe they're messaging me.
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: God, yeah. Who could that be?
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: Like a Pamela Anderson.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: Yeah, one of the Spice Girls or somebody.
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: One of the Spice Girls for sure. Ginger or Baby Spice.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: Yeah, or Marjoram or whatever. Isn't that one?
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: Sporty Spice.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: Oh, Scarlett Johansson. Who else? Johnny Depp. That's a man.
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: I don't know. None of these people are doing it
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: for me. Maybe Tom Hanks. Mm-hmm.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: Yeah, if Tom sent you an email.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: Look, Tom, one of the best actors in the world.
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: But if he said, Theo, I'm in a bind.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: And I need $ 200, 000. Because that's the crazy amount. It's
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: not just like, hey, I need $ 100.
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: People are getting screwed, glued, and tattooed.
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: I would not say that. I would send him maybe $ 1, 200.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: I am not sending.
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: Say, God bless you, Tom.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not sending somebody that much money. He's crazy. Yeah,
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: I don't know what goes into the psychology of that.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: We should talk with somebody and learn about that. What
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: is one of the biggest scams that's happened online with somebody? But,
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: I mean, that one with Justin Bieber's crazy. People thinking
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: that that's him.
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: Like, I remember, like, Kip Moore got scammed, and there was, like,
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: a Dr. Phil episode about it. Not Kip Moore, but somebody...
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: was getting scammed by somebody pretending to be Kip Moore.
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: And it was just like the girl really thought she was,
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: you know, in a relationship, like for real, for real.
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: I'll have friends that'll send me stuff. It's like, oh,
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: is this you? And it's like a fake email or something.
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: It's like, that would be insane if that was me.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: Like if you read through this, you know, it had
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: like recipes for things I like for dinner and stuff.
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: I'm like, who are you think I'm going to send
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: something like that? But I guess, yeah, people get caught up.
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: I mean, I've fallen for stuff when I was growing up,
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: Ponzi schemes, stuff like that. So I guess you've all
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: fallen for something.
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: I was trying to buy a French Bulldog.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: You were bit by a French Bulldog?
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: No, I was trying to buy one.
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: He's got good taste. It's an old French Bulldog.
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: And I got scammed.
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: Nuh-uh.
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: This was probably about six years ago.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: God, now that is not cool. Because they're really cute.
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: And you see them and you just wanted them. And
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: did you see pictures or they also had videos of them?
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: It was just pictures. I mean, I'm a dumbass for
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: thinking that. Like, I've learned a lot. That was definitely
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: my thought.
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: Really thought it was Jelly Roll. Ohio man says he
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: was scammed by AI video of the singer. A Springfield,
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: Ohio man said he lost money. I really thought it
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: was Jelly Roll. Appeared to be from a celebrity that
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: happens to be a fan of. The message said he
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: won $ 50, 000 on a brand new car.
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: I want to see it.
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: Then the account sent. A video of the man who
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: appears to be singer-songwriter Jelly Roll asking him to cover
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: shipping to get his prizes. They're not linking to the video,
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: but this is the image from the AI-generated video.
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: That is insane. That's the thing, Theo. Like, used to,
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: you had to be like, I got to see it
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: to believe it.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: But now, you just got to figure out yourself. You
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: got to have that wisdom and discernment whether or not
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: you believe it or not. I mean, there's been stuff
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: in the past. month going on about like me and
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: duck having a baby getting married they gave me six
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: fingers on one hand yeah oh.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: And you say you're cheating when you're doing your songs.
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: Or whatever yeah and then like they put my daddy
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: in a hospital bed picking his guitar and i was
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: i was in a wedding dress in the hospital room
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: because i had to go to him to get married
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: and then i showed my daddy the picture and um
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: and he's like not pissed about just ai making that
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: rumor up he's like got more hair than that I'm
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: like really that's what you gotta say I got more hair.
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: Than that hey look if you got it you gotta
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: keep it that's right that's it dang yeah I guess
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: everything's getting weird out there yeah but have you met
- 1:25:29Speaker 4: any actual impersonators of.
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: You there is um there's a girl in London that
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: actually puts on um she teams up with this guy
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: who I believe does Luke Combs so it's like her
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: and Her name is Georgie, I believe. They just like
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: put on these like co-headlining shows together, which is really cool.
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: It's like a, there she is right there.
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: That's pretty cool.
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: The Lainey Wilson experience. She's awesome. And she's got the
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: dance moves and everything down. Like she does Lainey Wilson
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: better than me.
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: She does. That's got to be pretty flattering.
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: I'm like learning some stuff from her. You know what
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: I'm saying? She's got the whole outfit and everything.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: Oh, that's awesome.
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: Pretty cool.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: That's pretty cool.
- 1:26:21Speaker 3: Look, she does a cowgirl of a night. She just
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: got it going on. I'm proud for her that she's
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: making a job out of it.
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: Seems like a fun job.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: Oh, that's pretty special right there. Yeah. Yeah, my niece's
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: first show that we went to together was your show
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: over here in Baton Rouge. I think it was probably
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: two years ago.
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: We're about to be back in Baton Rouge.
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: Y'all are? Yeah. Well, then I'm about to have to come.
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: Yeah, come on.
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: I'd love it.
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: We're going to be there in September. Tell your family,
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: come on.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: God, I want that.
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: Oh, my mom's down there now.
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: She would come. Yeah? Yeah.
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: Tell her to come on.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: I'll bring her. Come on. Thank you. I'll have to. Oh,
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: I saw that they just opened up your exhibit at
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: the Country Music Hall of Fame.
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: Did you go see it yet?
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: I did go see it. It was wild. My mama
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: kept everything. She kept my baby blanket. She kept this
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: little like plastic star that went like on the wreath
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: the day I was born. And it said a star
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: was born today.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: You're lying.
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: No.
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: So they were betting on you.
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: They were like, she got to do it. Lord help us.
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: God, honey.
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: It's so cool. Cause I really got to like kind
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: of zoom out and, you know, it looked like a
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: bunch of tiny little steps, like everything I've done since
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: I was just young. And then like me impersonating Hannah
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: Montana and, All that stuff. That's my journals. I wrote
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: Tim McGraw a letter when I was 18 and was like,
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: all I need is a shot and I can do
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: the rest.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: You did?
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: And I still have never met Tim McGraw. Wow. I
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: think I need to send him the letter now.
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: Well, I think you guys will probably make a movie
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: sometime soon.
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: I'd like that.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: But yeah. Is that you right there?
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: That's me.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: My God.
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: That's me on a good day.
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: I thought that was your stunt double from England. Uh-huh.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: That's Georgie.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that'd be so good. You start sending her to
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: spend time with your family.
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: I mean, honestly. They might like her better than me.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: Lainey, that's so cool.
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: It's cool.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: And that's in the Country Music Hall of Fame?
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: Yes. It's like everything I've ever done, for me, being
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: able to look at it with my parents. I mean,
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: because they worked their butt off so I could do
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: what I was doing. And they, when I tell you, Theo,
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: they believed in me.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: They.
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: They're they're the kind of people who are, they're real realistic.
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: Like people don't, those kinds of things like don't happen
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: in our area. But for some crazy reason, they're like, no,
- 1:28:50Speaker 3: this is what you're going to do. Like, this is like,
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: we know it. And they helped me do whatever. I mean,
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: whether it was like helping me buy my camper trailer or, um,
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: if there was, like, a singing competition somewhere in another
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: state or whatever, I was, like, wanting to sign up
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: for it. And, like, Mama would take me, and Betty
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: would pay for the gas. You know, like, it was just, like,
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: a team effort. So it's cool just to see everything
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: come from it. And it's just awesome.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: Yeah, well, parents just want to be proud of their children, right?
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: And so I think, you know, and parents get proud
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: of their children if they see them do something small
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: or big, I think, you know. And so I'm sure
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: even just to have, like, To have something like that
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: where so much of your child is kind of like
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: recorded and has some, you know, in a museum, that's damn.
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: I know. I said I ain't never been more proud
- 1:29:39Speaker 3: that my mama was a hoarder.
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: But she kept it.
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: Oh, that's beautiful.
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: They were trying to send this tractor tire swing that
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: we like used to swing on. I'm talking about this
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: tractor tire swing was like this big around. They're like, no,
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: we don't need that. My dad's like, no, y'all take
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: it on up there. They're just trying to clean out
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: the house, you know?
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what they're doing.
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: Yeah. There's this stack of your dad's old pants. You're like,
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: what the hell is this?
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: I'll just take them up there to Nashville.
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: The exhibit just morphs into a garage sale. I know
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: your bell-bottom pants. I remember being at your show and
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: seeing all these girls and some men wearing different kind
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: of Laney Bottom style pants, right? Do you have a
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: brand that's pants now? Did that become like a thing?
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: So I actually have a partnership with Wrangler, which is
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: so much fun because we get to do like, we
- 1:30:35Speaker 3: have like our fall collections and then we'll have some
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: stuff for the winter and then we do spring and summer.
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: It's just fun. It's like another way for me to
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: be creative. But we actually just launched a boot line
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: too called Golden West and really was inspired from really
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: just like when I think of songwriting and how I've
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: kind of learned how to write a song. Mm-hmm. I
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: feel like I've been given the opportunity to write with
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: such incredible writers. They've kind of taught me how to
- 1:31:02Speaker 3: step into other people's shoes and tell a story from
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: their perspective.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: Oh, there we go.
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: There they are. There's the Somewhere Over Laredo boots. Those
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: top two right there are bestsellers right now.
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: Really? Yep.
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: It's fun.
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: People are wearing these little boots now. What is that called?
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: That little boot in the middle? That's a shorty?
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: Shorty.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: Ooh. Yeah. Yeah. I've been seeing those.
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: We're going to find you a nurse and we're going
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: to get her a pair of boots.
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: We're going to hook her up.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: A couple Appaloosas right there.
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: Heck yeah. And tell her she can take them boots
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: on out of town if she don't keep it together.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: Never mind. She can come back at least once.
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: At least once.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: Golden West. Oh, I like those.
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: They got some different styles.
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: We're excited and it's doing really well already and I'm
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: just excited to like continue.
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: Are they only online or people can get them in
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: some stores.
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: Too um only online right now so okay yep and
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: then we're just gonna continue like dropping you know dropping
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: some and and see what happens but it's going in
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: a great direction.
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: How do you start to feel about your that you
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: have the possibility to think that your best songs are
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: still ahead of you you know i know with comedians
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: you start to think like man i'll never have a
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: bit that's as good as that you know um how
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: does that affect an artist like what's that like for
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: you in your world I mean because you've had some
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: you know you have a lot of great music you've
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: had some that have been bigger hits than others that's
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: just the way it goes but do you does that
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: like what is that like do you have fears like
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: that ever.
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: You know I mean it's absolutely like crossed my mind
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: because I think just like being human in general that
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: probably crosses everybody's mind you know even like getting out
- 1:32:47Speaker 3: of a relationship like I'll never love anybody else as
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: much as you know but I think uh I keep
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: like shocking myself or like surprising myself and being like, well,
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: he ain't done. I really do feel like we're really
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: just getting started. Like even the songs that I've been
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: writing in the past six months for the next record,
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: I feel like we keep leveling up and I don't
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: really know how that happens, but a grace of God.
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: So he's delivering.
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: Amen. Yep. Yeah, I believe it. I think, yeah, it's
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: those moments because there's days where you'll feel like, okay,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: everything is being perfect or I'll feel this way. Everything's
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: on the right path and there's days where I feel like, man,
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: I'm on a detour right now, you know? I know.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: And I think just trying to like tune, like almost
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: like you're using a tuner for a radio dial to
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: try to tune my heart in, you know?
- 1:33:39Speaker 3: That's right. It's like positioning yourself. I'm learning that.
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: It's like positioning yourself so you can be and also
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: like getting rid of the things in your mind that
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: are like stopping you or preventing you from finding whatever
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: that next, like, great joke is or great song. You
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: know what I'm saying? Like, you got to get rid
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: of those roadblocks in order to find them.
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: And sometimes the roadblocks are people. Sometimes it's just like a.
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: Sometimes it's, yeah, a damn roadblock. It's an actual roadblock.
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: Literally. And you're just sitting there waiting for them to
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: turn the sign around.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: You just.
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: But no, you're right. Sometimes it's people. Sometimes it's a habit.
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: A habit, dude. A habit.
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: How many people have not had made certain amazing things
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: happen because of a bad habit probably? God.
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: It's... That's... I just want to get tuned in. It's
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: the Lord FM, honey. That's what I need.
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: That's it.
- 1:34:39Speaker 3: The Lord FM.
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: Just reset my.
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: You let me know when that's a station because I'm
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: going to tune in too.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: Okay. Reset my dial. Tell Mr. Hodges we said hello.
- 1:34:48Speaker 2: I will.
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: Yeah, appreciate it.
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: Come see us.
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to try to come see you down
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: there in Baton Rouge again. That would be great. Cool. And, yeah,
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: thanks for all the beautiful music. Congratulations, and thanks for
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: coming and just chatting with me about Louisiana.
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: This was fun.
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Congratulations, Lanie Wilson. Best of luck.
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: Yee-haw.
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: Now I'm just floating on the breeze And I feel
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: I'm falling like these leaves I must be cornerstone oh
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: but when I reach that ground I'll share this peace
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: of mind I found I can feel it in my
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: bones but it's gonna take
