The pedestrian tunnel under U.S. 31 near Piggly Wiggly is getting a major upgrade—landscaping, new lights, and safety improvements to turn it into a neighborhood landmark. Closed since earlier this week, it’s expected back open by August, with construction continuing through fall. Built in 1954 to help students cross safely, the tunnel now connects schools and local neighborhoods.
