Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: On today's show, We're gonna give Dean Blandino smart new
- 0:03Speaker 1: rules that will change the NFL forever.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Let's go world the intro here, yo yo, do your
- 0:16Speaker 2: life from Philly. It's the number one rated Polly and
- 0:19Speaker 2: Tony Fosco show, Yo Yo. As always Polly.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Fools go here with Tony Fosco and Tony Yo huge
- 0:29Speaker 1: show today.
- 0:30Speaker 2: But oh yeah we get into that.
- 0:32Speaker 1: You know, yesterday I just turned on the TV, you know,
- 0:35Speaker 1: just to see what these jackasses on these.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Other sports shows are talking about.
- 0:39Speaker 1: It is so pathetic, Tony, to see these grown men
- 0:43Speaker 1: sitting around and talking about sports like they know anything
- 0:47Speaker 1: when they have the absolute most garbage takes. And this
- 0:50Speaker 1: is the reason people, as you know, why the millions
- 0:53Speaker 1: of youers out there like you, you know, you tune
- 0:55Speaker 1: in week after week.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Yeah, you know you can take whatever we say at
- 1:00Speaker 3: Space value talking.
- 1:02Speaker 1: About value and the great segue there, Tony, because on
- 1:05Speaker 1: that note, you can currently get twenty percent off at
- 1:08Speaker 1: the official.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Fusco show mercht on all merchandise.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Just go to the site in the description of this episode,
- 1:15Speaker 1: and you know, make someone's holiday season by getting them
- 1:18Speaker 1: an eighteen dollars mug with our face on it, right, Kelly,
- 1:21Speaker 1: what a holiday tree. Anyway, as we said, huge show today.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we're going to tell you why this Chase
- 1:27Speaker 1: Young trade just reeks of corruption and cowboys Eagles.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Wait, Tony, and we're going to get into it.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Dok, Prescott just said, and why it shows such poor judgment.
- 1:39Speaker 2: He needs to take dak what he said?
- 1:42Speaker 1: Yeah, and talking about poor judgment, you know, it was
- 1:45Speaker 1: another rough week for the NFL roughs, who continue to
- 1:48Speaker 1: suck at their job. What else, well, you know we
- 1:51Speaker 1: also got these teams continuing the idiotic crusade to ban
- 1:54Speaker 1: the tush bush. So to discuss this, we're going to
- 1:57Speaker 1: bring on, you know, one of those inept officials. Yeah,
- 2:00Speaker 1: you know, a chief's egos super Bowl Denia as he
- 2:03Speaker 1: refuses to admit the fix was in there, Totlomas, Senior
- 2:06Speaker 1: Vice president of NFL Officiating Dean Blandino will be joining
- 2:10Speaker 1: us again. And as we said, we're gonna be sharing
- 2:13Speaker 1: some smart ideas for NFL rules, aren't we, Tony.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Yeah, and if he doesn't like them, we're gonna rule
- 2:19Speaker 3: him off the show.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:22Speaker 1: But before that, time for a word from our good
- 2:25Speaker 1: friends at Denny's do you eat breakfast at home, Well,
- 2:30Speaker 1: then you're a loser, isn't.
- 2:31Speaker 3: That right, Tony, Yeah, you gotta go out for breakfast.
- 2:35Speaker 3: You know, the other day, my aunt Marie's boyfriend Nunzio
- 2:39Speaker 3: told me that she loves to eat sausage, and I said,
- 2:42Speaker 3: you should have her try Denny's sausage, And he said,
- 2:46Speaker 3: would Denny mind me watching? And then I, you know what,
- 2:50Speaker 3: I just realized something. Let's know what, Let's just move along.
- 2:53Speaker 2: We'll hear about that later.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Anyway, go to Denny's and try their super Slam breakfast.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Tell him Poley and Tony sent you to get preferred
- 3:00Speaker 1: seating with freeway view a beauty. All right, we got
- 3:04Speaker 1: that business out of the way, so it's time to
- 3:05Speaker 1: get in the walk.
- 3:06Speaker 2: It's a many story.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Huge nose at the trade Guideline Washington making yet another
- 3:15Speaker 1: regrettable decision, and they're not proud history of that organization.
- 3:19Speaker 1: It's time trading pass Russia and number two overall pick
- 3:22Speaker 1: Chase Young to the forty nine ers for nothing, and
- 3:26Speaker 1: this further helping San Francisco cover for their quarterbacks.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Outright shtiness.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And you know, Tony, this is just a pathetic look
- 3:35Speaker 1: by all involved, isn't it.
- 3:37Speaker 3: It's disgusting trading a superstar like Chase Young for just
- 3:41Speaker 3: a third round pick. I have to ask, where's the
- 3:44Speaker 3: Federal Trade Commission in all this? Aren't they supposed to
- 3:47Speaker 3: stop trades that are unfair and unbalanced?
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yep?
- 3:51Speaker 3: This is yet another clear failure of government. And it
- 3:55Speaker 3: just reeks that this all went down in Washington, the swamp.
- 3:59Speaker 3: It's just more governmental corruption and frankly, I for one,
- 4:04Speaker 3: am sick of it.
- 4:05Speaker 1: So eloquently said Tony, And you know you will never
- 4:09Speaker 1: see the Eagles making.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Such a classless low ball.
- 4:12Speaker 1: No, when they make trades, it's always fair and equitable.
- 4:16Speaker 1: You know we saw this last year, you know when
- 4:18Speaker 1: they took the Titans only good player aj Brown and
- 4:21Speaker 1: gave them back when I gave them something.
- 4:24Speaker 2: God, but you know it was totally fair. Absolutely.
- 4:28Speaker 3: You know, business laws protect against monopolies, but what about
- 4:33Speaker 3: monopolies great, it's unfair that the forty nine ers have
- 4:36Speaker 3: almost every good pass rusher, Nick Bosa, Randy Gregory, that
- 4:42Speaker 3: armstrong guy, and now Chase Young. The government should be
- 4:47Speaker 3: stopping this today, yep.
- 4:50Speaker 2: And this is why we are urging. You are millions
- 4:52Speaker 2: of listeners and viewers.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Write your local congressman and tell them you will not
- 4:57Speaker 1: stand for this injustice.
- 4:59Speaker 2: But when you'll send that letter.
- 5:00Speaker 1: You know, don't use the postal service because as we established,
- 5:03Speaker 1: they can't be trusted with letters and ballots.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Do.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Yeah, you definitely can't trust them.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah, well do Another big story the Raiders firing head
- 5:12Speaker 1: coach Josh McDaniels in the middle of his second season.
- 5:15Speaker 1: And Tony, you have a lot of critics here, I say,
- 5:18Speaker 1: and that this was a bad hire from the get go.
- 5:21Speaker 2: But those people don't know what they're talking about, do they, Tony.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Yeah, when the Raiders hired Josh McDaniels, they actually weren't
- 5:28Speaker 3: that far off. Just look at this list of NFL
- 5:31Speaker 3: head coaches, sorted in alphabetical order. As you can see,
- 5:35Speaker 3: Josh McDaniels is right between Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel, your
- 5:40Speaker 3: Bill's coach Sean McDermott, winner and Super Bowl winning Rams
- 5:45Speaker 3: coach Sean McVay.
- 5:47Speaker 2: So right there.
- 5:48Speaker 3: That shows the Raiders were not that far off when
- 5:51Speaker 3: they made this selection.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Such terrific analysis, Tony. And now turning to this week
- 5:57Speaker 1: and obviously the big match up the Cowboys the Eagles
- 6:01Speaker 1: in Philly. Now, you know, we've got the line set
- 6:04Speaker 1: at Eagles minus forty seven.
- 6:05Speaker 2: But the so called accurate it's out.
- 6:07Speaker 1: There who know Jack Squatt, well, they have it at
- 6:10Speaker 1: Eagles minus three.
- 6:11Speaker 2: That's because hidden saying that.
- 6:13Speaker 1: The Cowboys had a strong showing last week against the Rams.
- 6:17Speaker 1: But Tony, come on, what is the one part of
- 6:20Speaker 1: every game that matters most?
- 6:23Speaker 2: The second half.
- 6:25Speaker 3: We've always said the Cowboys can't close out games, and
- 6:29Speaker 3: last week they proved it yet again.
- 6:31Speaker 2: You're sure the score at.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Halftime was Cowboys thirty three, Rams nine whatever. But in
- 6:36Speaker 3: the second half the Rams soundly beat the Cowboys eleven
- 6:40Speaker 3: to ten. As they say, it's not how you start,
- 6:44Speaker 3: but how you finish, and that's why the second half
- 6:47Speaker 3: score matters much more than the final score.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Such spot on analysis, Tony, and just staying on this
- 6:55Speaker 1: week's matchup, you know, we saw some of the most
- 6:58Speaker 1: bizarre pregame commons ever recorded. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was
- 7:02Speaker 1: asked about his thoughts about the Eagles, and he said, quote,
- 7:05Speaker 1: he didn't want to poke the bear. But then Dak
- 7:08Speaker 1: Prescott came out and said, quote, you can poke it
- 7:12Speaker 1: if you see me and a bear in a fight,
- 7:15Speaker 1: pour honey on me, and Donny, if you're a Cowboys fan,
- 7:19Speaker 1: you have to be concerned by these comments, don't you.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Absolutely, Cowboys fans should be very concerned about Dak's judgment here.
- 7:28Speaker 3: I mean, if you're going to fight a bear, the
- 7:31Speaker 3: last thing you want to do is pour honey on yourself.
- 7:34Speaker 3: It's sticky and bees will attack you. Frankly, this makes
- 7:39Speaker 3: me question Dak's ability as a leader and a fighter.
- 7:43Speaker 3: He's certainly not someone you can trust leading men into
- 7:46Speaker 3: battle or into a forest full of bears.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Great points all around, Dony, And finally, just one quick
- 7:54Speaker 1: baseball note. You know, people out there are saying this
- 7:57Speaker 1: Ranger's Diamondback Series was quote bad for base ball and
- 8:00Speaker 1: it's the last matchup that the MLB could have possibly
- 8:03Speaker 1: wanted Tony.
- 8:04Speaker 2: That is totally wrong, isn't it.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Yeah, you have to look at it from a business perspective,
- 8:10Speaker 3: Like if Houston made the World Series, well that's just
- 8:14Speaker 3: a city. But if Texas makes the series, well that's
- 8:18Speaker 3: an entire state, all of Texas versus all of Arizona.
- 8:22Speaker 3: I mean, that's like one hundred million potential viewers right there.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Terrific business insight that Tony, and well, I have to
- 8:30Speaker 1: discuss that more, but we got to move on. I
- 8:33Speaker 1: see our guests coming online, so let's bring him on
- 8:35Speaker 1: the FUSCO Satellite Networks Satellite the world. All right, this
- 8:40Speaker 1: guy former senior vice president of Officiating at the NFL. Of course,
- 8:45Speaker 1: you know him from the NFL on Fox where you
- 8:47Speaker 1: can see him every Sunday desperately trying to explain all
- 8:50Speaker 1: the ref he calls. You know, as we established earlier
- 8:54Speaker 1: on the show this year, you know he is a
- 8:56Speaker 1: Chiefs Eagles Super Bowl denier, right, refuse us to admit
- 9:00Speaker 1: so handed the game to the Chiefs as we all there,
- 9:04Speaker 1: But so here he is Dean Blandino.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Welcome back, Welcome back.
- 9:08Speaker 5: I am I'm a denier, but I'm kind of a
- 9:11Speaker 5: denier in general. I don't I believe the Earth is flat.
- 9:14Speaker 5: I don't believe in the moon landing, none of that stuff.
- 9:17Speaker 5: Here's one that I don't believe. Philly Cheese steaks overrated.
- 9:22Speaker 1: You know, he's trying to like distract from the suit,
- 9:26Speaker 1: trying you because talk about distractions.
- 9:29Speaker 2: You're wearing a lion yet, please, Well, yeah, I.
- 9:32Speaker 5: Wanted to come on, you know, because I wanted to
- 9:34Speaker 5: represent the best team in the NFC right now. So
- 9:37Speaker 5: that's why I'm wearing my Lions hat.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Do you not know what an eagle looks like? It's green,
- 9:42Speaker 3: it's got a white emblem. The Eagles.
- 9:44Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, the Eagles. Yeah, they're okay, They're not bad.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Explained to me why you're a Lions fan? How did
- 9:49Speaker 2: that come to be?
- 9:50Speaker 1: Which is something you just started in like the last
- 9:52Speaker 1: month when you check the standings.
- 9:54Speaker 5: You know, the last couple of years, I've just really
- 9:56Speaker 5: bonded with the fan base. I like Dan Campbell, I
- 9:59Speaker 5: like what they've building there. It's a it's a franchise
- 10:02Speaker 5: that that hasn't won, and they've been a kind of
- 10:05Speaker 5: a tortured fan base. And then so I'm on the
- 10:07Speaker 5: bandwagon and I'm pro lines.
- 10:09Speaker 2: What state are you from, Dean, I'm from New York.
- 10:12Speaker 5: I am, I am, I am. You guys don't want
- 10:15Speaker 5: to hear this, but I grew up a Giants fan,
- 10:17Speaker 5: and uh and so you know that's you know, it's
- 10:20Speaker 5: an arch rival of the Eagles. And oh, I know,
- 10:24Speaker 5: Blains when the Giants were winning Super Bowls in the
- 10:27Speaker 5: eighties and nineties and the Eagles were were not.
- 10:30Speaker 2: You know that's my toilet.
- 10:32Speaker 1: So now you're jealous, yep, Now you're trying to stop
- 10:35Speaker 1: the Eagles dynasty by banning the tush push. Yup, there's
- 10:38Speaker 1: a concerted effort by these idiots.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Out there to get rid of it.
- 10:41Speaker 1: There.
- 10:42Speaker 2: So you used to work in the league offices.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Don't you think it's unfair that the league is so
- 10:46Speaker 1: clearly biased against the Eagles?
- 10:48Speaker 5: Well, I think the certainly the tush push, the brotherly shove.
- 10:53Speaker 5: I personally, I like the hurtz Helper. I came up
- 10:56Speaker 5: with that one. I think that's a good name for it. Terrible,
- 10:58Speaker 5: but but I think the Eagles are very successful with
- 11:03Speaker 5: that play, and the league is, like you said, just
- 11:06Speaker 5: trying to take them down and not give them that
- 11:10Speaker 5: added advantage. But I do remember a game I don't
- 11:14Speaker 5: know if you remember. They did play the Dolphins just
- 11:17Speaker 5: recently in.
- 11:17Speaker 6: The The Dolphins had ten ten penalties called against them
- 11:25Speaker 6: and the Eagles I think I had, I'm not.
- 11:28Speaker 5: Sure, but it rhymes with with Schmiro.
- 11:31Speaker 1: That's something, because you know Schmiro zero, which is the
- 11:36Speaker 1: number of brain cells you have. You see, what they
- 11:38Speaker 1: do is because you're not bright enough. They called them.
- 11:40Speaker 1: They let them go in the regular season when they
- 11:43Speaker 1: get the Eagles get.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Too hot all of a sudden. The script is you
- 11:47Speaker 2: think we don't know you know, yeah, you gouy.
- 11:50Speaker 5: Yeah, tough to get anything by you guys.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yeah, here's my problem with the TOSH.
- 11:54Speaker 1: But you know, we're saying that it's dangerous for other teams,
- 11:57Speaker 1: but the other teams they're doing it poorly, right, Yeah,
- 12:02Speaker 1: so you know they're kind of doing it in the
- 12:04Speaker 1: wrong way. So shouldn't they the ones be penalized for
- 12:07Speaker 1: you know, like defamation or.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Something like that.
- 12:10Speaker 5: I think, yeah, copyright infringement. I think there's a lot
- 12:13Speaker 5: there the Eagles do. I will say this, the Eagles
- 12:16Speaker 5: have perfected the play. They have the right personnel, they
- 12:19Speaker 5: have the right and I don't I don't think it's
- 12:22Speaker 5: you know, yes, does it look unusual, does it look
- 12:26Speaker 5: like normal football?
- 12:28Speaker 4: No?
- 12:28Speaker 5: But it's there's skill involved, there's technique involved, and the
- 12:32Speaker 5: Eagles are very good at it.
- 12:33Speaker 2: And you're saying that issues remain legal. Is that what
- 12:36Speaker 2: you're saying.
- 12:37Speaker 5: I've kind of done a one to eighty on the play.
- 12:40Speaker 5: I didn't like it, and now I kind of have seen. Okay,
- 12:43Speaker 5: you know, if you can do it properly, and you
- 12:46Speaker 5: should be able to get that advantage because.
- 12:49Speaker 2: It's one eighty.
- 12:49Speaker 1: It was when you removed your head from your asshole,
- 12:52Speaker 1: and that it's now rightly up there with a lion's
- 12:54Speaker 1: hat on it.
- 12:55Speaker 5: Don't Maybe we need to just start a campaign to
- 12:57Speaker 5: keep the push in. We need to. We need to
- 12:59Speaker 5: start like a positive like a kind of a narrative
- 13:04Speaker 5: around this play and all the good things that it does.
- 13:07Speaker 5: If you guys say what you're.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Saying is there should be a tush push push push exactly.
- 13:12Speaker 5: We can come up with the positives about the play
- 13:15Speaker 5: and what it brings, how it is a contributing to
- 13:20Speaker 5: society as a whole. If we can come up with that,
- 13:22Speaker 5: I think we can do it.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Just don't call it the hurts Helper because that is
- 13:26Speaker 1: a terrible Nameka.
- 13:27Speaker 5: I just like that to yourself, like Hamburger helper, hurts helper.
- 13:30Speaker 5: Come on, but you no.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Thank you for point. You know, but there is maybe
- 13:35Speaker 1: an anti Pennsylvania bias. You know, you saw last week
- 13:39Speaker 1: Deontay Johnson Stealer's wide receiver. He said that, you know,
- 13:42Speaker 1: the refs blew all the calls and the jag Steelers game,
- 13:46Speaker 1: basically handing the win to Jacksonville, and he said, quote,
- 13:49Speaker 1: the refs must have gotten paid good or something. So
- 13:51Speaker 1: that leads to my next question. What is the pay
- 13:54Speaker 1: structure for reps? Is it like on a pay by
- 13:56Speaker 1: whistle situation?
- 13:58Speaker 6: No?
- 13:58Speaker 5: Yeah, they get paid per game. So they get paid
- 14:01Speaker 5: per game based on actually the years of seniority, So
- 14:05Speaker 5: the longer tenured officials get paid more per game and
- 14:09Speaker 5: the less experienced officials get paid less per game. But
- 14:12Speaker 5: it's not per whistle, it's not per flag, it's not
- 14:15Speaker 5: per bad call, as you guys might think. It's it's
- 14:18Speaker 5: per game.
- 14:19Speaker 1: So are you saying that refs in the Super Bowl
- 14:21Speaker 1: were about twenty one years old?
- 14:23Speaker 2: Like interns? Is that what happened? There? You go?
- 14:27Speaker 5: So you're saying that the Eagles lost. You're still on
- 14:30Speaker 5: this thing that the Eagles lost because of the officials,
- 14:32Speaker 5: that's what you're saying.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, Are they're also commission based incentives? Like when
- 14:38Speaker 3: they help the Chiefs win, do they get like a
- 14:41Speaker 3: nice extra commission on top of that?
- 14:44Speaker 5: I'm not at liberty to speak about that that. I
- 14:47Speaker 5: can't I.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Can't there you go.
- 14:49Speaker 5: Legally, just think about that, I can't.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Right, because it would violate the severance package you get
- 14:55Speaker 1: it from the NBA, exactly.
- 14:57Speaker 2: All right.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Clearly he's too you know, scale to talk about certain things,
- 15:01Speaker 1: all right, but let's talk about this. There was another
- 15:03Speaker 1: embarrassment by the refs this week in the final moments
- 15:06Speaker 1: of the Jets Giants game. You saw the Jets, you know,
- 15:08Speaker 1: they raced to spot the ball. They spiked it to
- 15:11Speaker 1: stop the clock, and some people have said the refs
- 15:14Speaker 1: didn't spot the ball. All right, but don't you think
- 15:16Speaker 1: the system is kind of bizarre here? You know, we
- 15:19Speaker 1: have all these able athletes on the field, yet we're
- 15:21Speaker 1: relying on, you know, a seventy one year old with
- 15:24Speaker 1: arthritis to run up and spot the ball. Shouldn't that
- 15:26Speaker 1: be done by you know, able people?
- 15:30Speaker 5: Well, yeah, the officials. You know, there are a very
- 15:32Speaker 5: few seventy one year old arthritic officials out there. They're
- 15:37Speaker 5: much younger. And in that situation, the officials did what
- 15:40Speaker 5: they were supposed to do. The center put the ball down,
- 15:43Speaker 5: the umpire, who was in great position, came, tapped the football,
- 15:47Speaker 5: got out of the way, and the Jets were able
- 15:49Speaker 5: to get a snap off and spike it. So I
- 15:51Speaker 5: think it worked in that situation.
- 15:52Speaker 2: But you know it could have moved much faster.
- 15:55Speaker 1: You know, Tony, you had an idea, Tony, tell them,
- 15:57Speaker 1: you know those grabers that old people have the supermarkets
- 16:01Speaker 1: to get stuff off the top shelf.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Extending grab is what if the refs could just sit
- 16:06Speaker 3: on the sideline with a really long grabber and just
- 16:10Speaker 3: move the ball that way, you know, so we don't
- 16:12Speaker 3: have to wait for their old asses to run up
- 16:14Speaker 3: and get it.
- 16:16Speaker 5: The football field, right, it's fifty three in the third
- 16:19Speaker 5: yards across, so you'd want to split that. So you're
- 16:22Speaker 5: talking about what twenty six it would have to be
- 16:24Speaker 5: at least twenty six yards twenty six and change long.
- 16:28Speaker 5: That's a pretty long grabber, are you going to You're
- 16:30Speaker 5: gonna be able to get the leverage on.
- 16:33Speaker 1: The foe has great experience handling long Yeah.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Don't worry. What worry about the levee? A long poland
- 16:43Speaker 2: you don't know what.
- 16:43Speaker 5: To do do in the in the privacy of your.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Own home, I know how to use it, don't worry.
- 16:48Speaker 5: I don't want to. I don't want to picture this
- 16:50Speaker 5: image in my mind, right now I don't know if
- 16:52Speaker 5: I'm ever going.
- 16:52Speaker 1: To be that you were from an Italian background, but
- 16:55Speaker 1: maybe not there I guess, uh maybe only by name.
- 17:00Speaker 5: Well you know, I'm just saying the long grab.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that's okay, all.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Right here, Look Dean, you know, as we always do
- 17:08Speaker 1: when we bring you on the show, we like to
- 17:09Speaker 1: give you our brilliant ideas for new rules.
- 17:12Speaker 2: I'll help you out. You know you have trouble coming
- 17:14Speaker 2: the law grabber.
- 17:15Speaker 7: Yeah, yep, exactly, just like that, even better, even better,
- 17:20Speaker 7: and uh what we obviously what you do is when
- 17:22Speaker 7: you hear these things, you know, take them to your
- 17:24Speaker 7: buddy there, Roger Goodell, and you know, don't take credit
- 17:27Speaker 7: for them, but you know, just relay.
- 17:29Speaker 5: I'm going to give you guys. I will give you
- 17:31Speaker 5: guys all the credit, trust me.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Here we go. Here's the first rule.
- 17:36Speaker 1: If a ref makes a call, right, and then that
- 17:39Speaker 1: call is overturned, no ref can blow their whistle for
- 17:43Speaker 1: the next five minutes.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Thoughts.
- 17:47Speaker 5: Oh interesting, So okay, So if a call gets overturned
- 17:50Speaker 5: in replay, then they can't make a call for the
- 17:52Speaker 5: next five minutes.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Is there an echo in here? Yeah, it's like a penalty.
- 17:56Speaker 5: But but just that ref or any of them anyway ruin.
- 18:01Speaker 5: So I think I like this idea, but I want
- 18:04Speaker 5: to kind of piggyback on it. I like the general concept,
- 18:08Speaker 5: but I think it would be better if the official
- 18:10Speaker 5: that threw the flag, so it's more of a punitive
- 18:13Speaker 5: on that official say hey, you threw the flag. You
- 18:15Speaker 5: were wrong. You can't throw a flag for another five
- 18:18Speaker 5: just that one official.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Great and you know, just to piggyback on that. We
- 18:22Speaker 1: got a great idea because you need people to know
- 18:25Speaker 1: who did it right there make the mistake. So if
- 18:28Speaker 1: a ref makes a call, the calls over turned. That
- 18:30Speaker 1: reff has to wear a Dunce cap for the remainder
- 18:33Speaker 1: of the game so that everyone knows not to listen
- 18:36Speaker 1: to them.
- 18:37Speaker 5: We still is that the Dunce cap is still a thing.
- 18:42Speaker 5: Bringing it back, bring it okay, yeah, bring it back.
- 18:46Speaker 5: So the Dunce cap and so, but do they do
- 18:49Speaker 5: they have to? Can they still officiate with the Dunce
- 18:51Speaker 5: cap or.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Yeah, they have aand that holds it under the chin.
- 18:59Speaker 5: Holds it under the I'm just saying it's harder, like
- 19:01Speaker 5: the Dunce cap may not stay on if they're running around.
- 19:04Speaker 5: Does the dunk anything or does that have anything on it?
- 19:07Speaker 5: Or is it says dun Oh it says Dunce.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I think.
- 19:11Speaker 1: We may need to get you one here based on
- 19:13Speaker 1: the quality of this conversation.
- 19:15Speaker 2: You We're going to get one for your No.
- 19:17Speaker 5: Yeah, that's fine. I you know, I like I like
- 19:19Speaker 5: the penalty box idea better. But let's keep let's keep
- 19:23Speaker 5: the dunsk callous, let's keep the Duncet cap.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Basically Alliance had as a Dunce capital. We got it better.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, all right, we got an even better idea.
- 19:31Speaker 1: This will solve all the problems. Yeah, all right, ref
- 19:34Speaker 1: makes a call, call gets overturned, right instead of just
- 19:37Speaker 1: you know, announcing, the call gets overturned and you know
- 19:40Speaker 1: you move on. No, the ref has to get on
- 19:42Speaker 1: the PA system and publicly say to the entire stadium, look,
- 19:46Speaker 1: I fucked up, my bad, I apologize.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Don't you think that would help?
- 19:51Speaker 5: Apology?
- 19:52Speaker 2: So he's got to wear a Dunce cap. But you know,
- 19:54Speaker 2: I mean, I.
- 19:55Speaker 5: I like the idea of the apology. It might help,
- 19:58Speaker 5: you know, alleviate. There's a lot of negative energy surrounding officiating,
- 20:02Speaker 5: and I think that you know, if we if we
- 20:04Speaker 5: if we can actually humanize these officials and they can
- 20:06Speaker 5: come out. I'm sorry, you know, I feel like that's
- 20:10Speaker 5: that's not a bad idea as long as it's not
- 20:12Speaker 5: you know that we don't. Maybe not with the Dunce cap.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Maybe just the apology.
- 20:17Speaker 2: All right, So Dean, out of which of those rules
- 20:19Speaker 2: are you going to go? Take the Roger Goodell?
- 20:22Speaker 5: I'm taking the official that throws the flag that is wrong,
- 20:28Speaker 5: is in a five minute penalty box gets a five
- 20:30Speaker 5: minute penalty.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Where's Dunce cap.
- 20:33Speaker 5: No, no, no, I'm Dunce Cap. I'll bring that to
- 20:37Speaker 5: him as well. I don't think that's gonna. I don't
- 20:39Speaker 5: think that's.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Gonna Okay, you finished.
- 20:48Speaker 8: You're wearing the show cat because your shoe the shoe cap.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Is here. Off the line, Jay, hang up the phone.
- 21:06Speaker 1: You know a new rule should be he's never allowed
- 21:08Speaker 1: on the show again.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Yeah, he's the Dean of terrible interviews.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Great one.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Don'ty waited thurn it around there, you know, and we're
- 21:17Speaker 1: not gonna let him ruin what was otherwise at the
- 21:19Speaker 1: Rector show all around. Yeah, of course, we want to
- 21:22Speaker 1: thank our good friends at Denny's and.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Of the show. Producer Jay what why corrections? Why hurry up?
- 21:34Speaker 4: You said the Eagles should be favored by forty seven
- 21:37Speaker 4: points over the Cowboys.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Yeah, and it should be more.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Yeah exactly. That would be the biggest spread in NFL history.
- 21:44Speaker 4: That doesn't make any statistical sense.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well, the biggest spread is going to be
- 21:50Speaker 1: after the show when I spread your ashes.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Yeah you know what spread? You're never gonna see a
- 21:57Speaker 3: woman's legs.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Yeay?
- 22:00Speaker 4: One, Oh, let's it. And you were talking about the
- 22:05Speaker 4: World Series. You said the combined population of Texas and
- 22:08Speaker 4: Arizona's one hundred million people.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Yeah around there. Yeah, it sounds about right, bro, No,
- 22:14Speaker 2: not around there.
- 22:15Speaker 4: It's it's not even close.
- 22:17Speaker 2: There are only.
- 22:18Speaker 4: Approximately thirty seven million people combined in both states.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Oh yeah, well after the show, I know what state
- 22:26Speaker 2: you're gonna be in. Comatose.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Yeah, there are also approximately thirty seven million people who
- 22:33Speaker 3: wish you'd shut the f up.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Yay, you're the let's get out of here. It's just
- 22:40Speaker 2: the top of the show.
- 22:41Speaker 4: You said people can take you at quote space value.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Yeah, bro, they can't, so it's face value.
- 22:49Speaker 4: There's no such thing as space value.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well, uh, if there's something you're gonna face
- 22:56Speaker 1: it's your imminent death.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what, space says a lot of value
- 23:01Speaker 3: the whole. We're gonna throw your body in boom your dog.
