Lions answer in Winnipeg! This is The Sports Reset for Friday July 31st In CFL, the BC Lions went into Princess Auto Stadium and beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 35 to 19, a sharp road result against a Winnipeg team that has already had a bumpy July around quarterback health and defensive lapses. Nathan Rourke had been knocked out of a game earlier this month, while Zach Collaros has also dealt with injury trouble, so this one carries extra weight beyond the score. In MLB, the Los Angeles Dodgers handled the Seattle Mariners 6 to 2, the New York Yankees were held down in a 2 to 1 loss to the Chicago White Sox, and the New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 4 to 2. The Chicago Cubs also took care of the St. Louis Cardinals 4 to 2, while the San Francisco Giants beat the San Diego Padres 4 to 1. Looking ahead, in MLB, the Jays host the St. Louis Cardinals at Rogers Centre, and that series lands right as Toronto’s season keeps getting viewed through the deadline-and-playoff-race lens. The New York Yankees visit the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, while the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers bring a bigger-name interleague matchup to Dodger Stadium. In CFL, the Montreal Alouettes visit the Ottawa Redblacks at TD Place. In golf, Peter Malnati starts the day at 9 under at the Rocket Classic, two shots up on Rickie Fowler and Ryan Gerard, while the AIG Women’s Open has Shiho Kuwaki and Jeeno Thitikul sharing the lead at 6 under, one ahead of Paula Martin Sampedro.
