- 0:03This is Living Waters of Grace, the teaching ministry of Clark
- 0:08Wofford, senior pastor of Calvary Chapel of Westmoreland,
- 0:12County of Greensburg, PA. Now here's Pastor Clark as he
- 0:16continues teaching through God's Word.
- 0:37This wrath is a passionate anger and it's one day going to be
- 0:42poured out in such a degree that the world has never known.
- 0:46As horrible as Hiroshima was, as horrible as tsunami and some
- 0:52other devastations, the Holocaust, things that we have
- 0:56read about in history, nothing is going to compare to what is
- 1:02going to come upon this world through these prophecies of the
- 1:05Book of Revelation. The world we live in has seen
- 1:09some truly horrific events in its history.
- 1:12The volcanic eruption of Pompeii that wiped out an entire
- 1:15civilization. The Holocaust where 6,000,000
- 1:19Jews were murdered. Many other tragedies where lives
- 1:24were lost. In today's message, Pastor Clark
- 1:27warned you about an even greater devastation that will come upon
- 1:31the earth during the Great Tribulation as a result of sin.
- 1:36Jesus died for your sin so that you don't have to have you
- 1:40turned to Him to receive forgiveness now.
- 1:42Here's Pastor Clark in Revelation chapter 15 with
- 1:45today's edition of Living Waters of Grace.
- 1:49Revelation 15 verse one. Then I saw another sign in
- 1:53heaven, great and marvelous, 7 angels having the seven last
- 1:56plagues, for in them the wrath of God is complete.
- 2:00And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire.
- 2:04And those who have the victory over the beast, over his image
- 2:07and over his mark, and over the number of his name, standing on
- 2:11the sea of glass, having harps of God, they sing the song of
- 2:15Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,
- 2:19Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty, just
- 2:23and true are your ways, O King of the Saints, who shall not
- 2:27fear you, O Lord, and glorify your name.
- 2:30For you alone our holy, for all nations shall come and worship
- 2:34before you, for your judgments have been manifested.
- 2:38After these things I looked and behold, the temple, the
- 2:41Tabernacle, the testimony in heaven was open, and out of the
- 2:44temple came the seven angels, having the seven plagues clothed
- 2:48in pure bright linen and having their chests girded with golden
- 2:52bands. Then one of the four living
- 2:55creatures gave to the seven angels 7 golden bowls full of
- 2:59the wrath of God who lives forever and ever.
- 3:02The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from
- 3:07His power, and no one was able to enter the temple till the
- 3:10seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.
- 3:15As we study today, this is taking us back to a place to
- 3:20realize that there is a time that's going to come upon this
- 3:24world that is called Armageddon. Many of you have studied that,
- 3:29read about it. There was a movie I think a
- 3:31while back called Armageddon, and the world is moving towards
- 3:36that final battle on earth between good and evil prior to
- 3:40the second coming of Jesus Christ when he comes to roll and
- 3:43reign on this earth. So where we're picking up today
- 3:46is the scene as we move through the Book of Revelation.
- 3:49The seal judgments have already been dealt with.
- 3:53They were horrible enough in and of themselves.
- 3:56The trumpet judgments were also poured out upon the earth, very
- 4:01cataclysmic and unbelievable to have to deal with.
- 4:06The 7th trumpet is about to blow and the bulls of wrath now are
- 4:10going to be poured out upon the earth.
- 4:14So God will finally bring His righteous judgment upon the evil
- 4:19wicked people of the world who refused to acknowledge Christ as
- 4:23Lord and also to spare the people He loves and bring them
- 4:28into the eternal realm with Him. After this last, last
- 4:33consequential outpouring of of His anger and His wrath upon the
- 4:37earth, we see in verse 1, he talks about another sign in
- 4:41heaven, the signs of heaven marvelous.
- 4:45He says, now John has the privilege of being able to see
- 4:48what you and I can't see. He he sees something that's
- 4:52indescribable, but he's doing what he's able to do by the
- 4:57Spirit of God, writing these things down that we too might be
- 5:00able to have some degree of insight and vision into what he
- 5:03saw. And he says that what he's
- 5:06experiencing and seeing is marvelous. 7 angels having the
- 5:10seven last plagues, for in them the wrath of God is complete.
- 5:16It's describing the end of the Tribulation with a horror, as I
- 5:20said, at the battle of Armageddon.
- 5:23Now John's going back to describe God's judgment in more
- 5:26detail. Whenever we study the Book of
- 5:29Revelation, we have to understand it's not a
- 5:31chronological study. It's it's shifting back and
- 5:35forth into different time periods to give us more
- 5:39illumination and more insight, more clarification in regard to
- 5:43these prophecies as we compare this various scripture in the
- 5:47Book of Revelation along with Daniel and Ezekiel.
- 5:51As we look at this particular section today, the plan of the
- 5:55prophet, he's reviewing, he's recapitulating and he's
- 5:59enlarging upon the scene. He is already sketched out.
- 6:03We already read about the end of time in Revelation chapter 6 if
- 6:07you flip over there for a minute.
- 6:08This is for a review 12 to 17. He says I looked when he opened
- 6:15the 6th sea. And behold, there was a great
- 6:17earthquake. And the sun became black as
- 6:19sackcloth of hair. And the moon became like blood.
- 6:23And the stars of heaven fell to the earth as fig tree drops its
- 6:26late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind.
- 6:29And the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every
- 6:34mountain and island was moved out of its place.
- 6:37And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the
- 6:39commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man,
- 6:43hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains,
- 6:48and said to the mountains. And the rocks fall on us, and
- 6:51hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne, and from the
- 6:55wrath of the Lamb. For the great day of His wrath
- 6:58has come, and who is able to stand?
- 7:03John takes us over the same material again, but in greater
- 7:07detail in Revelation Chapter 15, reminding us that again, this is
- 7:12not set up chronologically. And this is what makes this book
- 7:15difficult to study and also to teach.
- 7:18Believe me, this is the hardest book I've ever taught on.
- 7:21You can't wing it. Not that I try to wing anything
- 7:23anyway, but you can be a little bit more extemporaneous when
- 7:26you're teaching to be attitudes. You got a lot of illustrations
- 7:28that you can make common to people about praying for enemies
- 7:33or loving people who hate you. We all got illustrations of how
- 7:37to work that out at times. But Revelation is a is a very
- 7:42specific book about specific subjects.
- 7:44So you don't dare try to make comments that aren't rooted in
- 7:50what has been clearly given. You don't want to make it up and
- 7:53you don't want to add to it. The Bible warns us at the end of
- 7:56that book that God help the person.
- 7:58It adds to the book, the words to the Book of Revelation.
- 8:03Now we see in verse one these 7 angels.
- 8:06They have the seven last plagues.
- 8:08And God has been waiting patiently throughout the history
- 8:12of civilization to bring righteous judgment upon the
- 8:17earth to an ungodly world. Now some people might think,
- 8:20well that's not fair. Why would a God of love be so
- 8:23angry? We can't understand.
- 8:26Maybe as we're growing and maturing in our Christian life,
- 8:29we can understand the horror, the devastation of sin and what
- 8:34it does to people, what it has done to your own life and mine
- 8:37as we've done things against God's law and His Word.
- 8:41The Bible says whatever you sow, you will reap.
- 8:45Anybody in here in the process of reaping anything, raise your
- 8:48hand. We've all sown things that we
- 8:51shouldn't have sown. And you think that you'll never
- 8:54see him again when you're young, you think, well, I did that no
- 8:57one else knows about it. And I'll never have to deal with
- 8:59that again and forget about it. And as life goes on and the Holy
- 9:03Spirit's working to purify your heart, God bring something out
- 9:06that maybe you did when you were 10 or 12 or 15 or 20 or 30.
- 9:10And all of a sudden, man, I thought that was gone, you know,
- 9:12and God doesn't bring it on you to condemn you.
- 9:15He brings it on you to free you and to cleanse you and to purify
- 9:18you and to and to transform your life.
- 9:21You know and but as God looks upon the horror of sin, there's
- 9:25a difference between what we see sin like as believers and what
- 9:29the lost or unconverted or doomed See.
- 9:34When you're a Christian, sin bothers you.
- 9:37It disturbs you. You want to repent of it.
- 9:39You want to get it off your chest.
- 9:41You want to confess it. You want to ask the Lord for
- 9:43mercy and cleansing and forgiveness.
- 9:46But when you're a Pagan, you just seem to relish in sin.
- 9:50The more sin the better. You don't think about the
- 9:53consequences or the the the outcome of what that might cost
- 9:57you one day. You're just thinking you're
- 10:00having a lot of fun, you know, on the highway to hell.
- 10:04And people don't understand that God is holy.
- 10:09God is perfect. This is his world, this is his
- 10:11universe, this is his creation. And he has every right to demand
- 10:16of his creation allegiance and worship and holiness.
- 10:23But we're not holy until Christ comes into our life.
- 10:27We're not holy until the blood of Jesus Christ is applied to
- 10:33our bankrupt souls. When Christ comes into a
- 10:37sinner's life, He washes away our sins.
- 10:41He cleanses us. He declares us righteous and
- 10:44pure and just, and it's a marvelous thing.
- 10:46We don't realize all the ramifications of justification.
- 10:50It's one thing to know, well, if I die today, I'm going to go to
- 10:53heaven. And and that's a good thing if
- 10:55you're trusting in Christ to know.
- 10:57But it's so much deeper than that, because what Christ has
- 11:00done for us at the cross in atonement, remitting our sins,
- 11:03is that we have this benefit now because of the blood of Christ
- 11:08and because of what Jesus Christ has done.
- 11:11That as a father looks upon us, he doesn't see an enemy of God
- 11:15anymore. He sees a son and daughter of
- 11:17God. He sees us as being part of his
- 11:19family. His wrath, his judgement has
- 11:23passed over us. But all those who are still on
- 11:27the earth who don't have Christ, his judgement is waiting to be
- 11:31poured out upon them. And he's been more than patient,
- 11:34hasn't he? How many thousands of years has
- 11:38he waited and patiently has to everyday look upon the sordid
- 11:43heart of the human race, the heart of man that perpetually
- 11:47desires to do evil continually? You might remember a day before
- 11:51you knew Christ where your thoughts every day was.
- 11:54What kind of evil stuff can I do today?
- 11:57What kind of sin can I get into? Who can I RIP off, or who can I
- 12:01take advantage of, or who can I put the move on, or whatever it
- 12:05was that might have been our agenda.
- 12:08And God has to look on that every day and see the heart of
- 12:12men and women and children who are rebelling and hating and
- 12:17refusing to follow Him. And then he looks down upon His
- 12:21church, His bride all around the world.
- 12:23And that's what gives him pleasure.
- 12:25That's what gives him glory and praise and honor, because he can
- 12:28look at all the brothers and sisters all around the world who
- 12:32have been washed in the blood of the Lamb.
- 12:35And that's what keeps Him from destroying this earth, the
- 12:38remnant that is upon the face of this earth, that He's blessing
- 12:43to continually do His will until He comes again.
- 12:47All of us here today, I trust our Christians.
- 12:49We know Christ, and if we know Him today, we can relax in the
- 12:54sense of having peace and knowing it is well with our soul
- 12:59and that if tomorrow is the end of the world, it's not going to
- 13:03be a big problem for us, is it? The best is yet to come for the
- 13:06Christian. But if you're here today and
- 13:08you're without Christ, Jesus says in John 336, He that hath
- 13:12the Son hath life. That means you have life, his
- 13:18life. He that hath not the Son of God
- 13:21hath not life, but what the wrath of God abideth on them.
- 13:26And it's a horrible thing once you get a heads up that God is
- 13:29angry with you because of your sin, that every day you should
- 13:36be a nervous wreck because you don't want to leave this world
- 13:40with God's wrath upon you. You don't want to leave this
- 13:44life without a Savior. And this is the whole purpose of
- 13:48the Book of Revelation. It's a prophetical book for the
- 13:51world to understand that this is the consequences of a sinful,
- 13:56ungodly world that will have to come to grips with the reality
- 14:02of a holy God having his just righteousness and his due time.
- 14:08And so the wrath of God is being stored up.
- 14:11And some people see it and it's described in the Scriptures as a
- 14:14cup of trembling. Jesus took that cup as I spoke
- 14:18briefly last week on the night of his betrayal prior to his
- 14:22crucifixion. He said it, if it is possible,
- 14:24let this cup pass from me. He asked for this to pass from
- 14:28him three times. The cup of God's anger, the cup
- 14:31of God's wrath that was poured out on our Savior Jesus Christ,
- 14:36who took our sins upon himself and took our punishment and
- 14:41everything we deserved upon himself that we might go free.
- 14:46And the Son of God, God Incarnate, had to take upon
- 14:49himself and experience that horrible, horrible wrath of God.
- 14:56But Hallelujah, when he was on that cross, He was able to say
- 15:00it is finished. He completed it for the glory of
- 15:04the Father and for the sake of those he died for and cleanse
- 15:09from their sin. But this wrath is a passionate
- 15:12anger and it's one day going to be poured out in such a degree
- 15:17that the world has never known as horrible as Hiroshima was, as
- 15:22horrible as tsunami and some other devastations, the
- 15:27Holocaust, things that we have read about in history.
- 15:32Nothing is going to compare to what is going to come upon this
- 15:36world through these prophecies of the Book of Revelation.
- 15:40And this anger of God will come to a point of completion.
- 15:45It will it says in verse one. For in them the wrath of God is
- 15:49complete. In other words, finally it is at
- 15:53the top and, and, and, and the timing is perfect and everything
- 15:59that God has waited for all these years will finally be
- 16:04poured out. And he's not pouring it out
- 16:06because he's an evil God. He's a loving God.
- 16:08But enough is enough. He's waited over 6000 years so
- 16:14patiently. And he waits because he says
- 16:16he's not willing that any should perish, but that all should come
- 16:19to repentance. God's righteous anger and His
- 16:22wrath will fulfill his eternal purpose.
- 16:26And verse 2, he talks about this vision of this sea of glass, a
- 16:30multitude of standing on the sea like a crystal.
- 16:36In Revelation 4, it describes a sea representing the holiness of
- 16:40God, the purity of God. And in the midst of the sea,
- 16:44there's this element of brightness and and some
- 16:48commentators see this as the fire being mingled within the
- 16:52purity of the glass, representing the fires of God's
- 16:55judgment that are waiting for those who don't repent and come
- 16:59to Christ. Now, it's beyond me outside of
- 17:03understanding that there was a time that I was like, forget
- 17:05this, I'm not interested in this stuff.
- 17:07Anybody would tell me about it. I want to go the other way.
- 17:10If I saw a religious tract somewhere, I just like, you
- 17:14know, didn't want to deal with it.
- 17:16You know, I was doing everything I could to resist this love of
- 17:20God because I was comfortable in my sin.
- 17:23I love my sin. The Bible say men love sin.
- 17:27Men love darkness rather than light.
- 17:29Why? Because their deeds are evil.
- 17:30I remember a day. Is anybody remember a day when
- 17:33you love sin? Raise your hand.
- 17:35There's about all of us in here and maybe some of you are still
- 17:39loving your sin. I pray by the day time you get
- 17:42out of here today, you're going to want to flee from your sin
- 17:45and run from your sin. As we read in verse 2, he talks
- 17:50about this sea glass being mingled with fire.
- 17:54Those who have victory over the beast, His image, His mark, the
- 17:57number of His name. These are the ones that endured
- 18:00the consequences of the persecution of the Antichrist.
- 18:05They were martyred, they suffered the consequences
- 18:09because they refused to take the mark of the beast and give
- 18:12homage to Antichrist. But now they're in this
- 18:16wonderful state in the Kingdom, experiencing the beauty of, of,
- 18:21of the, of the Kingdom of God. And they are standing on the sea
- 18:26of glass and they have harps. They are able to, to play music
- 18:29unto the Lord. What a wonderful worship time
- 18:33that these people are encountering and experiencing
- 18:37now as we look at the images that we're studying in this Book
- 18:41of Revelation, Many of these things remind us of things we've
- 18:45read about or studied about in the book of the Exodus.
- 18:48And the Revelation speaks of Moses in verse 3.
- 18:52Here they sing the song of Moses.
- 18:55And Moses was a prototype of Christ in a way, and the sense
- 18:59of being the deliverer, the one who took the people out of the
- 19:02bondage of Egypt under an ungodly ruler, Pharaoh, who
- 19:06abused and took advantage of the children of Israel.
- 19:09They prayed for a deliverer. God sent Moses as a deliverer,
- 19:13and Moses delivered the children of Israel out of the bondage of
- 19:17Pharaoh through great signs and wonders that the Lord allowed
- 19:21him to bring forth for his glory and for his honor.
- 19:25He delivered the children of Israel through the Red Sea.
- 19:29He brought plagues upon Egypt to get Pharaoh to realize he needed
- 19:35to let the people go. He warned them through the
- 19:37plagues and the seal judgments and the trumpet judgments and
- 19:41even the bowl of wrath that's going to be poured out.
- 19:44The intention of God the whole time he's doing this.
- 19:47Yeah, justice and righteousness. But will someone wake up when
- 19:50judgment comes? Will someone finally say I need
- 19:53to repent, I need to turn for my sin, I need a savior?
- 19:57And many people do come to know Christ during this time of
- 20:00consequence of tribulation. But the plagues are beyond
- 20:06anything that anyone could imagine.
- 20:08And we know as we study the book of the Exodus, how horrible they
- 20:11were. And we'll get into more detail
- 20:12on these plagues next week. But the plagues also, we we read
- 20:18in here that he talks about a Tabernacle in heaven, a temple
- 20:22in heaven. The cloud of God's glory as
- 20:25Moses experienced that and the Old Testament as they took the
- 20:28tent of meeting and God met with the children of Israel through
- 20:32the cloud that enshrouded the tent and it represented the
- 20:37divine presence and manifestation of God's living
- 20:41reality among the people. The ultimate exodus.
- 20:45So in Revelation is that God is delivering his people out of
- 20:50this fallen world and we won't have to deal with it anymore.
- 20:54Deliverance from a sinful and persecuting world.
- 20:57I think about what Janine Janine shared today that should strike
- 21:02some degree of terror in our hearts, that we can't be too far
- 21:06from the time of the Lord's return, that this kind of agenda
- 21:10is being perpetrated upon the the world, our our country,
- 21:18nations. The UN, quite frankly, seems to
- 21:23be a entity that is being set up to establish A1 world
- 21:30government, A1 world roller, one world currency.
- 21:35It has tremendous impact, tremendous power.
- 21:39It's pretty much anti God as a as a an organization that is
- 21:46directing the affairs of the nations.
- 21:49Some of the most scandalous people are involved in the
- 21:52leadership of the organization, some people who have brought
- 21:55atrocities against other nations and people groups that are
- 21:59allowed to continually develop their own agendas.
- 22:02And and we're like the frogs in the frying pan.
- 22:05We don't know about this stuff again, unless people like Janine
- 22:08or others bring stuff into pastors.
- 22:11You guys are responsible, as I am, for the truth of God.
- 22:16In these last days, you read something, you hear about
- 22:19something, you're upset about something, something isn't
- 22:22right. You know, I don't care a
- 22:25politician or a presidential candidate or anybody that is
- 22:30perpetrating and bringing upon this country and upon the rights
- 22:35of the citizens things that are unconstitutional or things that
- 22:39are against the word of God. We have every right given by God
- 22:44in this nation under God to stand up and say enough's
- 22:48enough. But if we just keep ignoring
- 22:52this stuff and not voting and thinking it's too late, what can
- 22:57anybody do? God help us in our country.
- 23:01God help the churches in this country.
- 23:03We're not to be that way. We're to be outspoken.
- 23:06We're to be lovingly and humbly aggressive about righteousness
- 23:13in this land. Verse 2, it talks about those
- 23:17who had the victory over the beast.
- 23:18And this is again the the tribulation martyrs and they
- 23:21were also described in Revelation Chapter 7, nine
- 23:25through 17. You can check that out later.
- 23:29These we're reading about now though, the completion of those
- 23:33who survive the tribulation because that that tribulation
- 23:37isn't over yet until after the bowls of wrath are poured out
- 23:40and the battle of Armageddon is over and then the second coming
- 23:43of Christ occurs. But this period is we're reading
- 23:47about right now is within the time parameters of the
- 23:50tribulation. And as I said, that the bowl
- 23:52judgements are still waiting to be poured out.
- 23:57This has been Living Waters of Grace with Pastor Clark.
- 24:01We're going through the challenging and also intriguing
- 24:04Book of Revelation. Whether you're a fan of reading
- 24:07ahead in books of fiction, there's such a benefit to
- 24:09reading ahead in the Bible to read about how it all ends.
- 24:14But in an interesting turn of events, the Book of Revelation
- 24:17is not really the end, but rather the beginning.
- 24:22It's the end of life as we know it here on earth, but there's so
- 24:26much to look forward to. But what comes after all?
- 24:29The judgement of the earth and those who reject God.
- 24:32There's a lot to work through, and it can be heartbreaking to
- 24:36read through the intense judgements and wrath that will
- 24:40come on those who hate God with all their might.
