- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Okay, here we go.
- 0:04Speaker 3: Where the plays get broken down and science gets denied.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Dude, they said I gotta come off the bench.
- 0:09Speaker 4: Hour two of Off the Bench, live from the Raising
- 0:12Speaker 4: Cane Studio. Oh, no.
- 0:35Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Oh, no. Alright, welcome back in.
- 1:05Speaker 4: OTB here live from the Raising Cane Studio. Wednesday shows
- 1:12Speaker 4: brought to you by our friends over at Poncho. PonchoOutdoors.com Backslash.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Backslash. Off the bench. Check it out.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Got some of those LSU shirts in stock. Just checked
- 1:22Speaker 4: it out to make sure. Didn't want to lie to you.
- 1:25Speaker 2: We got some.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Now the light purple, you'd have to have Nicolas Cage
- 1:30Speaker 4: and National Treasure to find that one. But, dark purple
- 1:33Speaker 4: the white those are.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Available oh yeah model click hover over that whoa why
- 1:38Speaker 2: do you think they're sold out buddy my god doc
- 1:41Speaker 2: why doc you look pretty good on tv when you
- 1:44Speaker 2: run out on the field but you've seen impressive you
- 1:46Speaker 2: ever seen that poncho male model pretty impressive.
- 1:50Speaker 4: I like the purple model that one yeah toting the
- 1:52Speaker 4: rock not that one yeah those hands.
- 1:57Speaker 2: What do you think sold the shirt seriously anyways uh
- 2:01Speaker 2: doc what's going on how we doing We're doing good.
- 2:03Speaker 2: We're doing good. How about y'all? Living the dream. Don't
- 2:06Speaker 2: wake me up. Don't wake up. Nightmares are dreams too, Jake.
- 2:12Speaker 2: All right.
- 2:12Speaker 4: So one of the things we wanted to talk to
- 2:14Speaker 4: you about, Taequann Thornton, Kansas City Chiefs receiver.
- 2:19Speaker 2: And Matt said it perfectly the other day. Adrenaline is
- 2:22Speaker 2: a hell of a thing. Hell of a thing. Can
- 2:24Speaker 2: we bottle that up? My gosh.
- 2:27Speaker 4: I mean, his ankle is facing the complete opposite way,
- 2:30Speaker 4: and he's trying to get up to celebrate.
- 2:33Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh, my God. He just, ah. Everything
- 2:37Speaker 2: just is mush. But, like I said, adrenaline. You just
- 2:41Speaker 2: made a big play. Yeah. And a big game. It's
- 2:43Speaker 2: probably a weird feeling, like, when you go to put
- 2:45Speaker 2: your foot down. Ah. Stop on your foot. It's facing
- 2:48Speaker 2: the wrong direction, yeah. And you're not good. Not good.
- 2:50Speaker 4: I remember when Dak Prescott did it, and he was
- 2:53Speaker 4: trying to, like, bang it back into place.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Yeah. On the ground. It's like, no, buddy. Don't do that.
- 2:58Speaker 4: That does not help. Your ankle is facing down. south
- 3:01Speaker 4: when it's supposed to be north medical advice don't do
- 3:03Speaker 4: that but i was i was shocked to hear 12
- 3:07Speaker 4: weeks for taekwon thornton really yeah 12 weeks just turn
- 3:11Speaker 4: that thing right back like when they said yeah three
- 3:15Speaker 4: months now they said like that's being aggressive that's everything
- 3:18Speaker 4: going right.
- 3:19Speaker 6: Yeah it's all about how many other injuries there are
- 3:21Speaker 6: you know obviously you had a dislocation most of the
- 3:23Speaker 6: times you have a dislocation of the ankle you're going
- 3:25Speaker 6: to break a bone as well The ankle doesn't dislocate
- 3:28Speaker 6: that easily, so usually it means you broke at least
- 3:30Speaker 6: one of the two lower leg bones, the fibula or
- 3:33Speaker 6: the tibia.
- 3:35Speaker 2: It depends on what other injuries there are.
- 3:36Speaker 6: Do you have some cartilage damage? Did you tear some ligaments?
- 3:39Speaker 6: If so, which ones and how bad? How big are
- 3:41Speaker 6: these defects? If everything goes well, they do heal. It's
- 3:46Speaker 6: funny how that looks worse than a lot of these
- 3:48Speaker 6: other injuries that we see that are seven, eight, nine months.
- 3:52Speaker 6: The optics of it are bad, but it is one
- 3:55Speaker 6: that people will get back from you know, in that
- 3:57Speaker 6: three-month mark.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Again, like you said, if everything was perfect. Is it
- 4:00Speaker 2: even possible for a foot to be facing the complete
- 4:02Speaker 2: opposite direction and not to have torn ligaments or cartilage?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Not really, no. No, yeah. These are ligament injuries. Usually
- 4:09Speaker 2: if you dislocate any joint, you're going to have ligament damage. Right.
- 4:12Speaker 6: Again, like with so many things we talk about, the
- 4:14Speaker 6: question is which ones and how severe, you know, and
- 4:16Speaker 6: how big was the injury. Is it something where they're
- 4:19Speaker 6: going to have to go in and reconstruct a lot
- 4:20Speaker 6: of that?
- 4:21Speaker 2: Is it something where it's going to be more minimal?
- 4:22Speaker 5: No.
- 4:23Speaker 6: Sometimes if you just kind of reset the ankle and
- 4:25Speaker 6: if there's a fracture, you know, you kind of take
- 4:27Speaker 6: care of the fracture. Sometimes a lot of the other
- 4:30Speaker 6: parts of the ankle will kind of heal up in
- 4:32Speaker 6: that setting. So it's a lot of kind of variability
- 4:35Speaker 6: in just how much we have to do.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Okay, this is good.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Sorry to cut you off, but do those heal faster,
- 4:41Speaker 4: the ligaments in that area, compared to the knee?
- 4:45Speaker 2: Sometimes, yes. Yeah, typically they will. It's all about which ligament.
- 4:48Speaker 6: For example, an MCL injury, you know, we've talked, unfortunately,
- 4:50Speaker 6: a lot about those lately. heal pretty quickly, you know,
- 4:53Speaker 6: by comparison to an ACL at least. So some of
- 4:55Speaker 6: it is where is the ligament? What is the ligament?
- 4:57Speaker 6: You know, a lot of it comes down to circulation
- 5:00Speaker 6: and blood flow and all these other variables that affect it.
- 5:03Speaker 6: And a lot of the ankle ligaments are probably more
- 5:05Speaker 6: akin to, say, an MCL. They're going to heal a
- 5:08Speaker 6: little bit more rapidly. And then sometimes you have to
- 5:10Speaker 6: do some reconstructions and things like that as well, though,
- 5:12Speaker 6: so that can all lay variables there.
- 5:14Speaker 2: And I'm saying this fully aware of what time of
- 5:17Speaker 2: the day it is. It's early. It's more early. Some
- 5:19Speaker 2: people are eating some breakfast, having some coffee. Uh, but
- 5:22Speaker 2: I'm going to ask kind of a gruesome question.
- 5:24Speaker 4: Cool.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Um, when it happens like that. Okay. So your toes
- 5:28Speaker 2: usually point forward. They're pointed backwards. Correct. Um, okay. So
- 5:33Speaker 2: you're going to have ligament, potentially bones caught like, but
- 5:37Speaker 2: what about like the skin?
- 5:39Speaker 5: Right.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Does the skin rip? It does. Can it rip like that? Yeah,
- 5:41Speaker 2: for sure. For sure.
- 5:43Speaker 6: So, so, so when you have a, any kind of
- 5:44Speaker 6: a fracture dislocation, you know, one term you'll hear thrown
- 5:47Speaker 6: out there, was it open or closed? Open meaning that something,
- 5:50Speaker 6: punch through to the, to the environment. So an open
- 5:53Speaker 6: fracture or an open dislocation is usually when a bone
- 5:55Speaker 6: punches through the skin. Um, that's these kind of sometimes
- 5:58Speaker 6: called a compound compound is, is, is another term. So, um,
- 6:01Speaker 6: whereas closed is, you know, you can have a pretty
- 6:04Speaker 6: bad fracture, but everything's still intact. Now that's also part
- 6:07Speaker 6: of the reasons that you want to try and get
- 6:08Speaker 6: these things pop back in pretty quickly, especially ankles because
- 6:11Speaker 6: of what can sometimes happen too, is if that bone
- 6:13Speaker 6: is pushing up against your skin, we call that tinting
- 6:16Speaker 6: the skin. And if it's pushing up long enough, it
- 6:18Speaker 6: can actually start to compress circulation, blood flow, and what
- 6:21Speaker 6: maybe didn't start off open, if you don't treat them rapidly,
- 6:24Speaker 6: can become open.
- 6:27Speaker 2: So you just pop them back in? Just pop them
- 6:30Speaker 2: back in.
- 6:30Speaker 6: That's why usually on the field, if something's dislocated and
- 6:33Speaker 6: if we can get it to reduce pretty quickly, we're
- 6:34Speaker 6: going to try and do so.
- 6:36Speaker 2: If it's something where... we realize it's going to be
- 6:38Speaker 2: a little more complex.
- 6:39Speaker 6: We're still going to try and get it done as
- 6:40Speaker 6: quickly as possible while you're on the sideline.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Before you pop something like that, you don't get confirmation
- 6:45Speaker 2: that there's not a bone that's broken or anything? Most times, no.
- 6:49Speaker 6: You kind of look at it and see. There are
- 6:53Speaker 6: different times. If you have a big piece of bone
- 6:54Speaker 6: sticking out, sometimes that's going to affect what we have
- 6:57Speaker 6: to do or not do. In that scenario, you might
- 6:59Speaker 6: just try and staunch the blood bleeding and then try
- 7:02Speaker 6: and reduce it once you get to a more sterile environment.
- 7:06Speaker 4: All right, this is probably going to be a little
- 7:07Speaker 4: bit of an odd question, but I'm sitting here and I'm, like,
- 7:11Speaker 4: thinking about things like, okay, well, can you be tough?
- 7:13Speaker 4: Can you tough it out through this injury? What's, like,
- 7:16Speaker 4: the worst injury that you somehow, someway can tough it out, like,
- 7:22Speaker 4: in a week or two, but it's going to be painful,
- 7:24Speaker 4: it's going to be a pain in the butt, but technically, like,
- 7:27Speaker 4: you can't do, you know, more damage.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Because, like, you know what I hear about injuries, it's like, yeah,
- 7:32Speaker 4: it's bad, but I think maybe he can push it
- 7:34Speaker 4: and play.
- 7:35Speaker 6: And I guess there are some, and again, can there
- 7:38Speaker 6: be an injury? Of course, there's always that. But, for example,
- 7:41Speaker 6: you know, look, we've had a lot of guys that
- 7:43Speaker 6: have played with fractured ribs. You know, I remember with
- 7:46Speaker 6: the Drew Brees injury several years ago when he had
- 7:48Speaker 6: multiple fractured ribs. I think he had something like eight
- 7:49Speaker 6: fractured ribs. And he came back and played, you know,
- 7:53Speaker 6: well before those fractures were healed.
- 7:55Speaker 2: So you can see that.
- 7:57Speaker 6: Jameis Winston had a– when he had his back injury,
- 7:59Speaker 6: he had some spinous process fractures in the spine. Literally
- 8:02Speaker 6: broke his back. And those you can play, depending on where,
- 8:05Speaker 6: of course, what type of an injury you're talking about.
- 8:07Speaker 6: But it's more the projections off the side of the spine.
- 8:10Speaker 6: So those you can sometimes do. So a lot of
- 8:12Speaker 6: it is, you know, some of these fractures that maybe
- 8:16Speaker 6: the complication risk is small.
- 8:18Speaker 2: So there are broken bones you can play with. It
- 8:20Speaker 2: does happen. So those are the first ones that pop
- 8:22Speaker 2: to mind. But there's probably a long list of them
- 8:24Speaker 2: as well. I know for me, plantar fasciitis. That's a
- 8:27Speaker 2: real painful one, yeah. It sounds cute. We had a guy, yeah.
- 8:34Speaker 4: He was like a Pro Bowl player, and he had it,
- 8:36Speaker 4: and he missed like four weeks. I had it, and
- 8:41Speaker 4: they were like, how long are you going to be out?
- 8:43Speaker 2: I was like, I'm a fullback. I've got to practice.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I can't miss.
- 8:47Speaker 4: And on one foot, it popped. On the other foot,
- 8:50Speaker 4: at the same time, it didn't. And the one that
- 8:52Speaker 4: did not pop was more painful than the one that popped.
- 8:55Speaker 6: Sometimes there are those injuries where, you know, and it's
- 8:57Speaker 6: funny too, like not even necessarily talking about with just athletes,
- 9:00Speaker 6: but you know, I'll get somebody that comes in with
- 9:02Speaker 6: like a rotator cuff tendinitis. That's just, they're dying. They're
- 9:05Speaker 6: in agony and they're not being soft or weak or whatever.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I mean, they're sweating. And cause that is really painful.
- 9:10Speaker 6: A lot of times you get the guy that comes
- 9:11Speaker 6: in the tourist cuff and then you can't raise his arm,
- 9:14Speaker 6: but he's like, Oh, it doesn't really hurt that bad.
- 9:15Speaker 6: So it's kind of the same principle. Sometimes this, I
- 9:18Speaker 6: tell patients all the time, pain does not.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Always dictate severity.
- 9:21Speaker 6: You would think certain injuries, the more severe, the more
- 9:23Speaker 6: painful it's sometimes true, but not always. So something like
- 9:26Speaker 6: a plantar fasciitis is really painful and, But we don't
- 9:30Speaker 6: think of it as nearly as serious as, say, a
- 9:32Speaker 6: broken bone or a torn ligament or something like that.
- 9:35Speaker 2: When I took my cleat off, it looked like I
- 9:37Speaker 2: had frostbite. You know when Mr. D's, when he takes
- 9:40Speaker 2: his shoe off and he's got black foot? Black foot.
- 9:42Speaker 2: That's what mine looked like. Yeah, you got that bleeding
- 9:44Speaker 2: and that plantar fascia. Why would you do that? You're sick. Yeah.
- 9:47Speaker 4: And we were about to have kickoff, and I was
- 9:49Speaker 4: supposed to be out there for the coin toss.
- 9:51Speaker 2: And it was like.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Doc was trying to like tape it a special way
- 9:56Speaker 4: and then like they were like we.
- 9:57Speaker 6: Need a metal plate for his cleat oh it was
- 10:00Speaker 6: not fun yeah that was not a fun thing i
- 10:01Speaker 6: felt like i was running down on kickoff with like
- 10:03Speaker 6: a wooden.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Boot on i just kick the kick do the kickoff
- 10:06Speaker 2: with that thing yeah might as well what about sprained
- 10:09Speaker 2: ac joint.
- 10:10Speaker 6: So sprained ac joint that's the the chromium covicular joints
- 10:13Speaker 6: the joint on top of the shoulder collarbone meets the
- 10:15Speaker 6: shoulder That's one that we see a lot, and that
- 10:17Speaker 6: is one that at times can be quite painful. And
- 10:19Speaker 6: typically guys can play through that one.
- 10:22Speaker 2: It's not going to, like, increase, like, severity. Not really, no,
- 10:26Speaker 2: not really.
- 10:27Speaker 6: You know, you might have some– you may prolong the injury,
- 10:30Speaker 6: you know. So if you have an AC sprain and
- 10:32Speaker 6: you keep playing on it, it's not going to heal
- 10:34Speaker 6: as quickly.
- 10:35Speaker 2: So you're definitely going to potentially prolong it.
- 10:37Speaker 6: But even when people have pretty big injuries there where
- 10:40Speaker 6: they– you can even see, like, sometimes a separation where
- 10:41Speaker 6: that collarbone kind of sits up. You know, we call
- 10:43Speaker 6: it grade two or grade three. Most of the times,
- 10:45Speaker 6: those are injuries we don't fix, and really in anybody.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Still got a nice little bump. Got a little bump. Yeah,
- 10:49Speaker 2: a little bump right there.
- 10:50Speaker 4: And you have to wear the pad, like the extra
- 10:53Speaker 4: pad that's like this big. I did.
- 10:54Speaker 2: That's why I missed the SEC championship.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Like a little raised piece that you're supposed to put
- 10:58Speaker 4: like right over the AC joint.
- 10:59Speaker 2: I think they put that over there. I don't know
- 11:01Speaker 2: what it did. I just ended up, Doc, I just
- 11:02Speaker 2: ended up wearing that like no matter what. Yeah.
- 11:05Speaker 4: There comes a point. I had like a left shoulder.
- 11:07Speaker 4: I guess I was left shoulder tendency to block. I
- 11:10Speaker 4: just ended up wearing it.
- 11:11Speaker 2: It worked. This bump right here. That got us two
- 11:14Speaker 2: points versus Arkansas. Not a big deal. Did we win
- 11:18Speaker 2: the game? That's a two-point bump right there. Did we
- 11:19Speaker 2: win the game? That's a two-point bump there. Did we win,
- 11:22Speaker 2: at least? In our hearts. You really were made of
- 11:29Speaker 2: glass there at the end, huh? Shut up. I gave
- 11:33Speaker 2: my body up. No SEC championship game. I wanted to, too.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Very badly. Couldn't lift more on the dot. It's hard
- 11:44Speaker 2: to play ball when you can't lift an arm. They
- 11:48Speaker 2: gave me three lidocaine shots during the game in the shoulder. Three? Three.
- 11:54Speaker 2: It's a solid day. The first one wore off before
- 11:56Speaker 2: the Hail Mary. I think I've told that story before.
- 11:58Speaker 2: The shortest Hail Mary of all time.
- 12:01Speaker 4: 36 yards.
- 12:03Speaker 2: 36 yards. It wore off right before I went out there.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I was like, hey, I don't know. This might be
- 12:08Speaker 2: parallel time for this Hail Mary. But now I can
- 12:11Speaker 2: do this. Adrenaline will get me. I think we need
- 12:14Speaker 2: to pull that tape up again. Adrenaline is serious. We
- 12:17Speaker 2: discussed it. It is. It is serious. I don't know
- 12:22Speaker 2: why this just stuck to me about like weird injuries
- 12:25Speaker 2: that seem to that don't sound like they sound kind
- 12:27Speaker 2: of harmless, but they make a huge deal for even
- 12:30Speaker 2: the biggest, baddest, strongest big toes. Yeah. You hear a
- 12:34Speaker 2: lot about, like, was it Terrell Owens that had, like,
- 12:36Speaker 2: a toe one time? Turf toe is the one that
- 12:38Speaker 2: you hear about so much.
- 12:39Speaker 6: Turf toe and the one– I think I've told this
- 12:41Speaker 6: story before, but I always remember Deion Sanders when he
- 12:44Speaker 6: was playing, had a turf toe injury.
- 12:45Speaker 2: That's right. And, again, this was way back. You know,
- 12:47Speaker 2: I'm young.
- 12:48Speaker 6: I don't know what the difference between– and I'm like,
- 12:49Speaker 6: how is this guy not playing with a toe injury?
- 12:51Speaker 2: He may be the softest guy ever. Toes are tiny.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I remember my dad being like, oh, Deion Sanders, what
- 12:57Speaker 2: the hell? Oh, it was– Turf toe? Are you kidding me?
- 13:00Speaker 6: And I remember it vividly because I was so, like,
- 13:01Speaker 6: you know, just– It moved me so much thinking about it.
- 13:04Speaker 6: I'm like, how's this guy not playing with a hurt toe?
- 13:05Speaker 6: He's like the best cornerback in the league, and you
- 13:07Speaker 6: can't play because your toe hurts. And now understanding these injuries,
- 13:11Speaker 6: your big toe injuries are borderline debilitating, and if they're
- 13:14Speaker 6: bad enough, can even be like season, career-ending injuries.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Big toe, so much of your force goes through that
- 13:20Speaker 2: side of the foot.
- 13:20Speaker 6: As you move further and further to the outside, it's
- 13:23Speaker 6: not as crucial, but that big toe is so important
- 13:25Speaker 6: to everything you do, push, plant, land, jump.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Explain what a turf toe is again. I know we
- 13:29Speaker 2: talked about it, but it's probably been like a year,
- 13:31Speaker 2: and I definitely forgot.
- 13:32Speaker 6: So the turf toe is when you basically, it's basically
- 13:34Speaker 6: an injury to the joint, the joint that's at the
- 13:36Speaker 6: base of the toe.
- 13:37Speaker 2: So where the toe attaches the foot.
- 13:39Speaker 6: And depending on severity, you can basically tear off that
- 13:42Speaker 6: plate that's underneath there, kind of where that ligament attachment is.
- 13:45Speaker 6: And look, if you tear it off completely, I mean,
- 13:47Speaker 6: your toe just won't work. Every time you try to
- 13:49Speaker 6: plant on it, I mean, it just doesn't have the
- 13:50Speaker 6: support it needs. It hurts like snot every time you
- 13:53Speaker 6: do that. There's things we can do for the milder
- 13:55Speaker 6: versions where it's more of a sprain of that joint.
- 13:58Speaker 6: and you can put in, like, the metal plate in
- 14:00Speaker 6: the shoe. Sometimes we'll do that for the turf toe injuries.
- 14:02Speaker 6: You can do tape jobs and things like that. Sometimes
- 14:05Speaker 6: even medications to sort of make it feel better. But
- 14:09Speaker 6: once that thing blows, once it pulls off completely, if
- 14:12Speaker 6: it's a severe injury, it's just not going to work.
- 14:14Speaker 4: Isn't it kind of one of those deals, too, where, like,
- 14:15Speaker 4: if you get it in game three, you can play,
- 14:17Speaker 4: but you're going to feel it in game 12 probably?
- 14:19Speaker 2: Yeah. Should we just– Let's rename it. Can we call
- 14:24Speaker 2: it Death Toe? I think a tougher name would help.
- 14:27Speaker 2: I think Death Toe is good. Death Toe. Death Toe injury. Tornado.
- 14:35Speaker 7: That sounds like something you get on the Oregon Trail.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Oh, it does. You got death toe. You die because
- 14:41Speaker 2: of your death toe. She was great, but she got
- 14:43Speaker 2: the death toe up there. She got the death toe.
- 14:45Speaker 2: In Salem, Oregon, on the trail. Bandits, snake bites, dysentery,

- 17:08Speaker 3: you weren't the only Cause so was I All right,
- 17:21Speaker 3: welcome back here.
- 17:27Speaker 5: O.T.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Hey, girl.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Raising Cane's studio. Oh, yeah. Wednesday shows brought to you
- 17:38Speaker 2: by Poncho Outdoor. Ooh, sexy outfit. Dot com. Backslide.
- 17:45Speaker 5: Off the bed. Let me right those wrongs, baby. I'm sorry, baby.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Your finger paintings don't suck. What's up? How we doing?
- 18:09Speaker 2: Doing great. That was a gruesome segment. Yeah. I didn't
- 18:15Speaker 2: love the skin talk. It was just a random thought,
- 18:18Speaker 2: and I think... Real question? No, it is. We get that. Like,
- 18:24Speaker 2: here at OTB, we ask the tough questions.
- 18:26Speaker 4: When someone's foot is facing the wrong way, I just
- 18:29Speaker 4: assume that everything in there is shredded.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Just melted.
- 18:32Speaker 4: Everything.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Just absolutely melted. Just shredded.
- 18:35Speaker 4: And so, like, when I heard Tyquan Thornton for the
- 18:37Speaker 4: Chiefs could come back in 12 weeks, I'm like, the
- 18:39Speaker 4: hell he can.
- 18:40Speaker 9: Mm-hmm.
- 18:41Speaker 2: That's a 12-month injury to me. He's got mush in
- 18:43Speaker 2: his ankle right now. When I see that, I'm like,
- 18:45Speaker 2: that's a 12-month injury. Me too. 12 years. Yeah. 12 weeks.
- 18:50Speaker 4: So our old team doctor for the Chargers, Dr.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Chow, is kind of like basically Twitter doctor. Like any
- 18:59Speaker 2: injury in the NFL, he's the go-to.
- 19:03Speaker 4: He has a whole business based off of it, like
- 19:05Speaker 4: fantasy football and betting and He immediately reacts to any injury.
- 19:11Speaker 4: And we had him on our shows on Mondays. And again,
- 19:13Speaker 4: he was our team doctor in San Diego. But when
- 19:16Speaker 4: he told me 12 weeks, I was like, shut up.
- 19:19Speaker 2: No way. Get out. Can't be.
- 19:21Speaker 4: He's like, now that's with a lot of aggressive treatment
- 19:25Speaker 4: and everything going right. I'm like, I don't care if
- 19:27Speaker 4: everything goes right. There's no way that that man can
- 19:30Speaker 4: be back on a football field in three months.
- 19:34Speaker 2: It's wild.
- 19:35Speaker 7: His foot was turned the other way.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:37Speaker 7: You tell me he's going to be back in three months?
- 19:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:41Speaker 4: I just don't get how everything's not, again, shredded in
- 19:44Speaker 4: there where there's nothing.
- 19:45Speaker 2: There's just a pocket of blood in a foot. Yeah.
- 19:48Speaker 2: It's just dangling. It just melts inside.
- 19:52Speaker 1: There's nothing left. Like, the bones are gone.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Just ankle soup. Ankle soup.
- 19:57Speaker 8: Ugh.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Ankle soup and death to.
- 19:58Speaker 2: I hate that. Hate, hate, hate. Hate ankle soup. Sorry.
- 20:03Speaker 2: We're just, we're laughing because it's uncomfortable. Just laughing through
- 20:06Speaker 2: the pain.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I mean, that's, Kind of what he did on the field.
- 20:11Speaker 2: He's like, hey, come here, help me up. Yeah, he did, man.
- 20:14Speaker 1: He's like, can you believe this?
- 20:17Speaker 7: I need to stop thinking about this.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Hey, it was really great to see, and I meant
- 20:21Speaker 2: it with all my heart, that I don't want to
- 20:23Speaker 2: see Doc on TV anymore. But it was really great
- 20:25Speaker 2: to see this past weekend. That's the fear in those games, right?
- 20:30Speaker 2: Because injuries have been so prevalent all season long. We've
- 20:34Speaker 2: got a lot of misfortune, LSU, with injuries. So it was...
- 20:39Speaker 2: You know, having a seemingly pretty decent game in that aspect,
- 20:46Speaker 2: which was needed.
- 20:50Speaker 5: No?
- 20:50Speaker 2: From that standpoint, yes. Yeah. For sure. A lot of
- 20:54Speaker 2: players got a lot of playing time. I was looking
- 20:56Speaker 2: at you when I was saying that, and I was
- 20:57Speaker 2: looking at your face. I was like, did I miss one?
- 20:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Did I miss one? No, I don't remember anything. Yeah.
- 21:03Speaker 2: No more injuries all year. And that's with running 101
- 21:07Speaker 2: plays on offense, too. So you're out there for a while.
- 21:09Speaker 8: Sure.
- 21:11Speaker 2: That's a lot of plays. School record. That's a long
- 21:15Speaker 2: film breakdown for those kids.
- 21:19Speaker 1: So that's a six-hour, Matt.
- 21:20Speaker 2: That's a six-hour sit-down. That's a six-hour sit-down.
- 21:23Speaker 7: I don't want to go through 101 plays.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Can you imagine Jimbo going through 101 plays? Yeah, I can.
- 21:27Speaker 2: It took him forever to go through 47. I can
- 21:29Speaker 2: definitely imagine it. Now, Matt.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Come here.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Now, why would you do this? Let me just ask
- 21:37Speaker 2: you something. Why would you do that? Why? I mean,
- 21:41Speaker 2: you saw the safety dam right here. Nickel backed up.
- 21:44Speaker 7: Then you decided to do this?
- 21:46Speaker 2: That's not what we went through. Wow, what would he
- 21:49Speaker 2: say when you... Bleep, bleep, bleep, bleep, bleep.
- 21:51Speaker 4: What would he say when you'd kind of do something
- 21:53Speaker 4: on your own? He had a way of saying it.
- 21:54Speaker 4: Like when you kind of would.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Go rogue and do your own thing. God, he used
- 21:58Speaker 2: to have a way of saying it. I'll have to
- 22:00Speaker 2: think about it. I just remember him just getting all
- 22:02Speaker 2: worked up. It's all about you. It's all about you. Hey,
- 22:04Speaker 2: just forget coaching. Forget coaching. It's all about you. Hey,
- 22:08Speaker 2: you know best. Do your own thing out there, bud.
- 22:11Speaker 2: You know, I'm not even going to ask. You know,
- 22:13Speaker 2: I'm just happy. I'm just happy because you're consistent. At
- 22:17Speaker 2: least you're consistent. You consistently mess up.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Hmm.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Who got it the worst from him?
- 22:31Speaker 4: Man.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Marcus Randall. Oh, that's true. Allie Broussard got it pretty bad.
- 22:40Speaker 2: I love Marcus. Maybe I thought it was worse because
- 22:44Speaker 2: I was new at LSU, too. I was like, what's
- 22:49Speaker 2: happening right now? From a receiver standpoint, well, tight end
- 22:56Speaker 2: Donnie Jones. Oh, that's the answer. You're right. face jones
- 23:01Speaker 2: skyler would get it pretty good too good skyler had
- 23:04Speaker 2: a nickname out there that was what was it matt
- 23:14Speaker 2: we're gonna keep that one in the lock all right
- 23:17Speaker 2: fair oh imagine if they were everybody got it buster
- 23:21Speaker 2: would get it pretty good from him too yeah um.
- 23:26Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 23:27Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, all the corner, like me and
- 23:28Speaker 2: Marcus got it pretty, pretty bad too. But, uh, Marcus was, yeah,
- 23:34Speaker 2: I think that's the answer for me at least right now.
- 23:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I mean, if it's not me, it's him. I'm going
- 23:39Speaker 2: to face Jones. Face was, I mean, faith, one liners
- 23:43Speaker 2: face would have his moments where he got the, I
- 23:45Speaker 2: wish your parents never met. Yeah. And different versions of that. Yeah.
- 23:49Speaker 2: There was also a DC situation where he was from.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Mm hmm. Can't talk about that one. We should probably
- 23:59Speaker 2: move on before we incriminate Jimbo. Yeah. Because we love him.
- 24:02Speaker 2: We do. We love the guy. Could be coaching Florida
- 24:05Speaker 2: State again, according to rumors. Well, their current coach doesn't
- 24:10Speaker 2: need a coach there.
- 24:11Speaker 7: True.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure Jimbo would do it for free. For sure.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Swear to God. He might.
- 24:16Speaker 7: I mean, he's still getting paid out by them.
- 24:17Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. I think he would do it
- 24:18Speaker 2: for nothing. Or by A & M, right?
- 24:19Speaker 5: Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 24:20Speaker 2: He's got enough money.
- 24:21Speaker 1: He could just pay Norvell's buyout with that A &
- 24:23Speaker 1: M money.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Right.
- 24:25Speaker 2: I think he would literally take the bare minimum. They
- 24:28Speaker 2: had to pay him to be a state employee. I
- 24:30Speaker 2: will say, I would assume that he stays pretty in
- 24:33Speaker 2: tune with the ebbs and flows, the updated types of offense,
- 24:38Speaker 2: different things that they're doing, because everything improves over time.
- 24:42Speaker 2: I think that was one thing at A & M
- 24:44Speaker 2: that I saw that I noticed from their offense, and
- 24:47Speaker 2: this is before I did radio or anything, so I
- 24:49Speaker 2: wasn't breaking down film. I was just watching. I recognized
- 24:53Speaker 2: most of the plays that they were running at Texas
- 24:54Speaker 2: A & M, Yeah. Which is good, because there's only
- 24:57Speaker 2: so many ways that you can do it, but it
- 25:00Speaker 2: looked very familiar, right? Like, it didn't update. Paint and
- 25:04Speaker 2: win and all, you know. Yeah, like, and volunteer and
- 25:07Speaker 2: all that stuff, which is all great plays, like, and
- 25:09Speaker 2: they all have their purpose and their time, but it
- 25:12Speaker 2: wasn't a whole lot of new stuff in Indy. Yeah, 35.
- 25:15Speaker 5: 35, yeah.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Right, you're... Building on top of those things. Yeah, you
- 25:22Speaker 2: build on top of those things. That's like the foundation.
- 25:24Speaker 2: It's not everything. So if he does, which I hope
- 25:29Speaker 2: he does because I love Jim, but I think he's
- 25:32Speaker 2: a very, very good coach. And I know that there's
- 25:35Speaker 2: a lot that goes with that from a Texas A
- 25:37Speaker 2: & M standpoint, their fandom and all that, blah, blah, blah.
- 25:40Speaker 2: I don't really care. I just know he's a very
- 25:42Speaker 2: good football coach. Loves it. Loves the people he coaches
- 25:46Speaker 2: and is very intense, obviously, but can recruit his team.
- 25:49Speaker 2: tail off. All those players that we used to get
- 25:53Speaker 2: from Miami, that was Jimbo. That was all Jimbo. 100%
- 25:58Speaker 2: Jimbo got all those players out of Miami. I came
- 26:02Speaker 2: to LSU because of him, not because of Saban. Saban
- 26:09Speaker 2: at that point wasn't the GOAT. I loved Jimbo.
- 26:13Speaker 4: He hadn't even won one at that point for you.
- 26:15Speaker 2: He had won one right before for me. Right, yeah,
- 26:19Speaker 2: at that point. Who was your area recruiter? Kirk Dahl.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Dahl was mine, too. But then Jimbo took over once
- 26:26Speaker 2: the scholarship stuff started happening, the offers.
- 26:28Speaker 4: After Dooley screwed it up with your fat ankles. Hey, Nick,
- 26:35Speaker 4: Derek's over here telling us this guy's got fat ankles
- 26:37Speaker 4: and can't play.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Tell Dooley don't worry about these quarterbacks. I'll handle the quarterbacks.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Derek Dooley don't know a quarterback if you hit him
- 26:45Speaker 2: right in the ass, all right? Fat ankles.
- 26:49Speaker 7: We got to get him back on.
- 26:50Speaker 2: We did.
- 26:51Speaker 7: He was good when he came on.
- 26:53Speaker 2: That's how we got the Kinkle. I know.
- 26:56Speaker 7: He gave us that ammo.
- 26:56Speaker 2: He gave us that. Oh, so good. He's got to
- 26:59Speaker 2: be like a top of the hour, 30 minutes.
- 27:00Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 27:01Speaker 2: We'll catch up on some breaks sometime down the road.
- 27:04Speaker 7: We should get him on Eye in the Sky.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Oh, that would be fun. You know how long you'd
- 27:09Speaker 2: be in that seat over there? Bro, you get me
- 27:11Speaker 2: and Jimbo talking about film.
- 27:13Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 27:14Speaker 7: I'll have to give you, like, a 15 play limit.
- 27:16Speaker 4: Because Jimbo would then, hey, Flynn, hey, you know what
- 27:18Speaker 4: that play's like? You remember that time back in 2004?
- 27:20Speaker 4: But the people would love it. We were playing against Troy,
- 27:24Speaker 4: and they were playing quarter-to-quarter halfs over there, and.
- 27:28Speaker 2: It was third and seven. Like, no, Jimbo, I don't.
- 27:30Speaker 7: I don't remember.
- 27:32Speaker 2: And he does. He absolutely does. He called quarters in
- 27:36Speaker 2: the red zone red seven. Yeah. Which I don't understand.
- 27:39Speaker 2: I don't understand it either. But he did it. That's
- 27:41Speaker 2: what I called it when I was, like, in green.
- 27:43Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, it's red seven. Like what? No,
- 27:46Speaker 2: just tight quarters. I've heard tight quarters. Tight quarters, yeah.
- 27:51Speaker 2: But I've never heard Red 7. Red 7! Anyway, good stuff.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Way to reminisce. Memory lane. God, we're going to crush Kentucky.
- 28:02Speaker 2: So much.
- 28:03Speaker 7: The O-line's bad?
- 28:04Speaker 3: Huh?
- 28:05Speaker 7: The O-line's bad?
- 28:06Speaker 2: Theirs? Theirs is good. Their D-line doesn't get off blocks.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Their D-line's bad. Yeah, their D-line can't get off blocks.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Okay.
- 28:13Speaker 2: They struggle.
- 28:15Speaker 7: Well, Kenny Menchie said that LSU's defense has never seen
- 28:18Speaker 7: an offense like Kentucky's.
- 28:19Speaker 2: They haven't because. This is a really good one. Because
- 28:23Speaker 2: they'll just line up with, like, a billion tight ends, like,
- 28:25Speaker 2: in the I formation and then shift out into. Into doubles? Into, like, doubles.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Two by two? Watch this shift.
- 28:33Speaker 1: It's to confuse you, Matt, obviously.
- 28:35Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Watch this shift. And then they'll shift. And, like, the
- 28:40Speaker 2: defense is just looking at each other like, what?
- 28:42Speaker 1: We didn't even have to move.
- 28:43Speaker 2: We didn't have to move. What are they doing? That
- 28:46Speaker 2: was dumb. But you're right, Kenny Menchie. You are playing well.
- 28:49Speaker 2: 11 touchdowns, one interception. So kudos to you. Playing well.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Almost 70% completion. Almost. I would argue that LSU's, you know,
- 28:56Speaker 2: Ole Miss is a pretty good offense. Yeah.
- 28:59Speaker 7: I think the Ole Miss's issue is on the defense.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:02Speaker 7: More than the offense.
- 29:04Speaker 1: I'd rather play Kenny Menchie than Trinidad Chambliss.
- 29:07Speaker 7: For sure.
- 29:08Speaker 1: No disrespect to Kenny Menchie, but, I mean, I'd rather
- 29:11Speaker 1: play him than Trinidad.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Don't get it twisted.
- 29:13Speaker 5: Right.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Don't get it twisted. Kenny Minchie has been playing well.
- 29:17Speaker 2: He is a good quarterback. Yeah. Period. They're a good team.
- 29:24Speaker 2: There's no more exaggeration. He's a good quarterback. Yeah, they're
- 29:26Speaker 2: a solid team. He's a solid. He's going to not
- 29:30Speaker 2: do anything stupid. He's going to run their offense. He's
- 29:33Speaker 2: going to take that check down or that under route
- 29:36Speaker 2: or that on a naked bootleg. He's going to hit
- 29:39Speaker 2: the guy on the fly. and he's going to pick
- 29:40Speaker 2: up six yards and then they're going to run it
- 29:44Speaker 2: and then he's going to motion a bunch of people
- 29:46Speaker 2: and he's going to throw it deep into a safe
- 29:48Speaker 2: place where his guy catches it or nobody catches it
- 29:51Speaker 2: and if it's not there he's going to scramble around
- 29:53Speaker 2: and instead of running it he's going to throw it
- 29:55Speaker 2: away yeah unless he has to run it because he
- 29:58Speaker 2: stepped up in the A or B gap, and he
- 30:00Speaker 2: can't run out of bounds. And he's going to do it,
- 30:03Speaker 2: and he's not going to throw it into harm's way.
- 30:05Speaker 2: If he's not sure about it, he'll take a sack.
- 30:10Speaker 2: And that's about it. And then you're going to turn
- 30:14Speaker 2: on ESPN SportsCenter's top ten, and he's not going to
- 30:16Speaker 2: be on it.
- 30:17Speaker 7: Poor guy.
- 30:18Speaker 2: No, not poor guy. He's playing great.
- 30:20Speaker 1: He ain't going to lose you a game.
- 30:22Speaker 2: He's playing great. All right, on that note. We'll take
- 30:27Speaker 2: a break.
- 30:27Speaker 4: We'll take a look at the SEC schedule. We've still
- 30:31Speaker 4: got to take a look at what's next for the
- 30:33Speaker 4: New Orleans Saints. I know we talked about it yesterday
- 30:35Speaker 4: in a recap from what was a very poor performance
- 30:38Speaker 4: on Monday night, so we'll get to.
- 30:40Speaker 2: All of that when we come back here on OTB.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Off the bench. All right, go see our friends at
- 30:47Speaker 4: Pelican Roofing at pelicanroof.com. Remember, it's in Baton Rouge. It's
- 30:50Speaker 4: in Lafayette. It is offices, locations, in both locations. They're
- 30:56Speaker 4: always there in the local community, always doing something. Run
- 30:59Speaker 4: with Rufus every year. Mother's Day roof giveaway. Veterans Day
- 31:03Speaker 4: roof giveaway.
- 31:03Speaker 2: And that's in both locations, right?

- 32:24Speaker 9: you playing games, what's this all about And I can't
- 32:28Speaker 9: believe you're hurting me I met your girl, what a
- 32:34Speaker 9: difference What you see You ain't seen in me, but
- 32:40Speaker 9: I guess it was all just make-believe.
- 32:43Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in OTB.
- 32:48Speaker 4: You never, ever could do this, but don't forget about
- 32:51Speaker 4: our friends over at Bayou Automotive. BayouAutomotive.com is the website. Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep,

- 33:26Speaker 2: BayouAutomotive.com.
- 33:30Speaker 4: All right, as we continue talking LSU and Kentucky, again,
- 33:33Speaker 4: LSU has not had a lot of success in Lexington.
- 33:35Speaker 4: It has certainly been a bugaboo for them to go
- 33:37Speaker 4: up and play in Lexington. You had to have a
- 33:40Speaker 4: miracle play in, was it 2002, 2007? We lose in
- 33:45Speaker 4: triple overtime.
- 33:47Speaker 2: 2021, they beat you up. So you have not had
- 33:50Speaker 2: great fortune there. Hasn't been easy in Lexington.
- 33:53Speaker 4: So knowing that, knowing it's a sold out Kroger field
- 33:57Speaker 4: as well, it is going to be Whatever their environment
- 34:01Speaker 4: turned up to an 11 is, that's what it's going
- 34:03Speaker 4: to be. And I got to say, in 2021, I
- 34:06Speaker 4: was warning people, hey, this place can get kind of crazy.
- 34:10Speaker 4: It doesn't have a ton of people, but when they're good,
- 34:13Speaker 4: they're here.
- 34:14Speaker 2: And it was. So it's going to be a good environment.
- 34:17Speaker 2: They're all jacked on bourbon. Yes.
- 34:19Speaker 4: They just went to the races earlier in the day.
- 34:22Speaker 4: It's going to be a good environment. It's going to
- 34:24Speaker 4: be a good football team. It's going to be some
- 34:26Speaker 4: long travel, more than you're used to. There's things that
- 34:29Speaker 4: you have to handle. Are you the better team?
- 34:31Speaker 2: I think so. Are you the more talented team?
- 34:34Speaker 5: Yes.
- 34:34Speaker 4: Are you, you know, from top to bottom roster-wise going
- 34:38Speaker 4: to have more Jimmies and Joes?
- 34:40Speaker 2: Yes. And you have some advantages too.
- 34:43Speaker 4: But the one thing this coaching staff, and I've been
- 34:45Speaker 4: around them a couple times now traveling with the team,
- 34:47Speaker 4: they do a really nice job of trying to treat
- 34:49Speaker 4: every opponent the same, trying to highlight. And we haven't
- 34:52Speaker 4: seen this team really come out and just lay an egg.
- 34:57Speaker 4: Even against Louisiana Tech, it was close, and then you
- 35:00Speaker 4: pull away. Remember last year, a lot of times you
- 35:02Speaker 4: never pulled away. Western Kentucky was like 13-10. In this
- 35:06Speaker 4: game against McNeese, what do you do?
- 35:09Speaker 2: You handle business.
- 35:09Speaker 4: In the third quarter, you started to go the other way,
- 35:12Speaker 4: and you flipped it back again. So I think mentally
- 35:17Speaker 4: they understand what this is. It's a top 25 SEC
- 35:20Speaker 4: team on the road, a place that's going to be
- 35:21Speaker 4: tough to play, a place you haven't played well.
- 35:23Speaker 2: The last couple times that you've been there.
- 35:26Speaker 4: And then also, there's some familiar faces over there, too,
- 35:30Speaker 4: with Joe Sloan and Nick Anderson, Lance Hurd. So, I mean,
- 35:34Speaker 4: I think there's a lot in front of you if
- 35:36Speaker 4: you're an LSU player to make sure that you respect
- 35:38Speaker 4: your opponent, which, again, they've done every single time so
- 35:40Speaker 4: far this year.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think that Kentucky winning at Texas A
- 35:49Speaker 2: & M at South Carolina, I think that is... a
- 35:53Speaker 2: blessing for this LSU team because it makes you, it
- 35:57Speaker 2: forces you to put some respect on that name because
- 36:00Speaker 2: they've earned it. They've gone out there and it doesn't matter.
- 36:03Speaker 2: We showed you the stats earlier where they rank nationally
- 36:06Speaker 2: and all the different categories on offense and defense. It's
- 36:09Speaker 2: not anywhere close to the production LSU's had, but they
- 36:14Speaker 2: went on the scoreboard and they can continue to fight,
- 36:18Speaker 2: but they are, there is flaws on their team. That
- 36:22Speaker 2: can be exploited. Now, you have to be disciplined. Blake
- 36:25Speaker 2: Baker and his staff, they have to make sure their
- 36:30Speaker 2: safeties that are coming down and their linebackers play extremely disciplined.
- 36:36Speaker 2: They have to play. They cannot take the cheese, if
- 36:40Speaker 2: you will. They cannot take the eye candy. They got
- 36:43Speaker 2: to know that people are going to be going left
- 36:45Speaker 2: and right. And if everybody goes left, that means something's
- 36:50Speaker 2: coming right. If everything goes right, that means something's going left.
- 36:53Speaker 2: So you have to, they're going to show you something.
- 36:56Speaker 2: Look right here, look at my hand, look at my
- 36:58Speaker 2: hand while I try to do something else. And that's
- 37:00Speaker 2: how they are trying to overcome, you know, a little
- 37:03Speaker 2: bit more deficiency and talent from top to bottom. They're
- 37:07Speaker 2: playing a lot of tight ends. On the offensive side
- 37:10Speaker 2: of the ball for LSU, Sam, this is one thing
- 37:13Speaker 2: that you've struggled with consistently all season long. A little
- 37:16Speaker 2: bit better the last week or two. Run the ball,
- 37:22Speaker 2: not yourself. RPOs, hand the ball off. And sometimes I
- 37:28Speaker 2: don't even care if it's a dirty look. I don't
- 37:30Speaker 2: even care if there's a safety that comes down late
- 37:32Speaker 2: and makes the count wrong. Run the ball, their defensive line. Now,
- 37:37Speaker 2: of course, they're in the SEC. They can make plays,
- 37:42Speaker 2: but more often than not, they cannot get off blocks.
- 37:44Speaker 2: Run the ball. A four-yard run on first down is
- 37:49Speaker 2: a good play. but I think more often than not
- 37:52Speaker 2: this weekend, unless they're just given extremely dirty looks in
- 37:56Speaker 2: the box, you're going to see more six yards run
- 37:58Speaker 2: than four yard runs. Um, they cannot stop the run
- 38:02Speaker 2: if you do it on normal down and distance runs. Um,
- 38:06Speaker 2: so don't throw the RPOs. Don't throw it unless it's
- 38:11Speaker 2: like a gift and they'll give you some gifts. They'll,
- 38:13Speaker 2: they'll line up and they'll, On RPO looks or regular
- 38:16Speaker 2: normal down and distance, which is like a first and
- 38:19Speaker 2: 10 or a second and five to like six to eight,
- 38:21Speaker 2: something like that. Those are normal down and distance plays.
- 38:24Speaker 2: You line up in a normal formation. They'll give you
- 38:26Speaker 2: a hitch route to the field, but they'll also know
- 38:29Speaker 2: they're giving it to you and they'll be ready to
- 38:31Speaker 2: collapse down on it. Run the ball. Cause you're, it's
- 38:35Speaker 2: going to be, you're going to want to throw it
- 38:37Speaker 2: sometimes on an RPO, but I'm telling you, if you
- 38:40Speaker 2: consistently can run the ball on first down, You're going
- 38:44Speaker 2: to run them out of the stadium by the second half.
- 38:47Speaker 2: And that's what– and I say that. I don't say
- 38:50Speaker 2: that because, like, I just think we're so much better. Yeah.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Texas A & M and South Carolina. South Carolina was
- 38:55Speaker 2: up 17-0 at the end of the first quarter. And
- 38:58Speaker 2: they stopped. They just, like– their coaches pooed down their leg. Yeah. Sorry.
- 39:08Speaker 2: It happened. It's true. Marcel played like trash against them
- 39:13Speaker 2: at times. Fourth and one, rolling out, throws it in
- 39:17Speaker 2: the dirt. Yeah. That was a pick. I think they
- 39:21Speaker 2: were up 7-0. And he throws a pick right to it.
- 39:24Speaker 2: It's just they, they, the coaches blew it over thinking themselves.
- 39:28Speaker 2: They could have run them out of the stadium. All right.
- 39:33Speaker 2: We will step away. Going to wrap up our number two.
- 39:36Speaker 4: When we come back here live from the raising cane
- 39:38Speaker 4: studio off the bench.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Or go to FABT.com.
- 39:42Speaker 4: That is the website for first American bank and trust.
- 39:46Speaker 4: They've been in the game since 1910, well over a
- 39:48Speaker 4: hundred years. They've been here in South Louisiana. And so that, well,
- 39:53Speaker 4: your relationship, you're not just an account number, your face,
- 39:55Speaker 4: your name, like, you know, they know you, right?
- 40:00Speaker 2: It's not, Oh, just coming in, just doing some banking business.
- 40:04Speaker 2: And I have no idea. Somebody knew every single time. No,
- 40:07Speaker 2: it is a relationship.
- 40:08Speaker 4: And so when decisions are made, like they're made with
- 40:11Speaker 4: you in mind, they're made right here in South Louisiana
- 40:13Speaker 4: as well. They don't call and they don't ask for
- 40:15Speaker 4: permission to, to California, New York, or a bigger city.
- 40:18Speaker 2: It's right here. It's FABT.com. Yeah, they treat you like
- 40:21Speaker 2: a human over there, not like Jake said, not an accountant.
- 40:24Speaker 2: So you're going to go and you're going to have
- 40:25Speaker 2: a conversation. If you have a problem, if you have
- 40:28Speaker 2: an issue, if there's something wrong, you go talk to them.
- 40:30Speaker 2: They're going to walk you through. They're going to treat
- 40:31Speaker 2: you like they would treat themselves in a banking situation.
- 40:34Speaker 2: So they've been doing banking here in Louisiana a long time.
- 40:37Speaker 2: First American Banking Trust, FABT.com.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Welcome back to Off the Bench.
- 40:40Speaker 9: Wednesday's show is brought to you by Poncho.
- 41:06Speaker 2: What's happening? Welcome back to OTB.
- 41:31Speaker 4: Real quick, let's go across the SEC, look at some
- 41:34Speaker 4: of the games in conference this weekend. As we try to,
- 41:41Speaker 4: at this point, figure out how it's going to shape up.
- 41:43Speaker 4: There's been a lot of upsets. There's been a lot
- 41:45Speaker 4: of teams that were like, yep, they're going to win
- 41:47Speaker 4: that puppy running away, and they get housed. Looking at you,
- 41:50Speaker 4: Ole Miss, against Florida. Looking at you, Florida, against Missouri.
- 41:53Speaker 4: So we don't really know. It's, as we said yesterday,
- 41:57Speaker 4: kind of NFL-like from week to week. as we get
- 42:00Speaker 4: closer and closer to college football being professional football. In Como,
- 42:07Speaker 4: Missouri and Texas A & M, Missouri a three-and-a-half point favorite.
- 42:12Speaker 4: In Gainesville, Florida and South Carolina, Florida a 12-and-a-half point favorite.
- 42:19Speaker 4: In Dallas, Texas, in the Cotton Bowl, Red River, it
- 42:22Speaker 4: is Texas and Oklahoma, Texas a seven-and-a-half point favorite.
- 42:27Speaker 2: In Nashville, it is number nine, Ole Miss.
- 42:30Speaker 4: In Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, a 10-point favorite. In Fayetteville, Arkansas,
- 42:35Speaker 4: Arkansas hosting number 15, Tennessee. Tennessee, 13-and-a-half-point favorite. In Lexington, obviously,
- 42:41Speaker 4: LSU and Kentucky. LSU, an eight-and-a-half-point favorite. And then the
- 42:45Speaker 4: game of the week in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, number two, Georgia,
- 42:48Speaker 4: number six, Alabama.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Alabama, a one-and-a-half-point favorite. Silver under on that.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I mean, that makes sense.
- 42:56Speaker 2: 52 and a half.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Pay him at home, one and a half.
- 43:00Speaker 2: Yeah. Good line. Good line.
- 43:02Speaker 1: I mean, there's only three teams in the SEC where
- 43:05Speaker 1: I'm like, Texas has got the best resume, but they're
- 43:07Speaker 1: not playing great. Like, it doesn't look pretty. Georgia's dominating.
- 43:11Speaker 1: They haven't really played anybody. You can kind of say
- 43:13Speaker 1: the same for Alabama. Those are the three teams I
- 43:16Speaker 1: look at right now. I'm like, okay, who's in the
- 43:18Speaker 1: head of the pack of those three? And, I mean,
- 43:20Speaker 1: we might find out this weekend.
- 43:25Speaker 2: Georgia-Alabama is obviously the game of the week. Interesting ones.
- 43:29Speaker 2: You never quite know in Red River how that's going
- 43:32Speaker 2: to play out. That one stuck out. Oklahoma's considered the
- 43:35Speaker 2: home team. When you were reading the lines, that one
- 43:37Speaker 2: stuck out to me. Just because Oklahoma's. You know the
- 43:40Speaker 2: total on that game? 38.
- 43:41Speaker 3: 40.
- 43:42Speaker 8: 39.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Is it? Texas. 20-17 versus Tennessee. They beat.
- 43:49Speaker 4: UTSA.
- 43:55Speaker 5: 30-6.
- 43:55Speaker 2: They beat Ohio State by one. They're playing close games.
- 44:02Speaker 2: That 7.5 stuck out to me when you first said it.
- 44:04Speaker 2: I was like, well, yeah, Texas number one. Oklahoma's been poo.
- 44:07Speaker 2: That's the one. Then I think about it. Rivalry. They're
- 44:12Speaker 2: not blowing anybody out. Oklahoma's not great.
- 44:18Speaker 1: The game's always... Yeah, I know.
- 44:21Speaker 2: This is where this is his Heisman moment. This week.
- 44:25Speaker 7: This is where he turns it around.
- 44:26Speaker 2: This is where he turns it around. My preseason prediction
- 44:29Speaker 2: is finally going to come true this weekend. He might
- 44:33Speaker 2: throw for 800. It's a Red.
- 44:37Speaker 1: River record, I believe.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Ole Miss minus 10 at Vanderbilt. Ole Miss off a
- 44:45Speaker 2: bye week.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Getting blown out. They're trying to get the bad taste
- 44:49Speaker 1: out of their mouth.
- 44:50Speaker 7: I don't know anything about Vanderbilt.
- 44:53Speaker 2: I mean, that win they had against NC State.
- 44:55Speaker 7: That's all I know about it. That's all I know
- 44:57Speaker 7: about Vanderbilt.
- 44:58Speaker 2: They played someone tight. Was it Georgia they played? For
- 45:00Speaker 2: a while. For a while. Yeah. They pulled away 38-14,
- 45:04Speaker 2: but for a while.
- 45:05Speaker 7: I was like, let me check in on Athens.
- 45:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it was an ugly game against Auburn.
- 45:11Speaker 1: The Auburn game, they fell behind. I think it was
- 45:13Speaker 1: double digits early. Roundup coming back, making that a game
- 45:15Speaker 1: as well. So, like, they're hanging tough.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Hanging tough.
- 45:21Speaker 7: And wasn't their starting quarterback out versus Georgia?
- 45:25Speaker 4: He was, Jerry Curtis. Yep, he's going to be back
- 45:26Speaker 4: for this one. Still, though, 10 points. Ole Miss, Tay-Tay's
- 45:31Speaker 4: point is going to want something to prove. They're going
- 45:33Speaker 4: to try to score a bunch of points. They're going
- 45:35Speaker 4: to try to get a get-back game. They win by
- 45:39Speaker 4: more than that.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that. I like that. Of the ones
- 45:42Speaker 2: we've talked about, Ole Miss minus 10 is where my
- 45:47Speaker 2: money would go as I stand here right now. Not
- 45:52Speaker 2: Notre Dame playing? See, I didn't even yell at y'all. See,
- 45:56Speaker 2: y'all were hating on me all week last week. I
- 45:59Speaker 2: haven't hated on y'all one time this week. Because you
- 46:02Speaker 2: also missed.
- 46:04Speaker 1: Jake's the only one that didn't.
- 46:05Speaker 2: How dumb it was that y'all wouldn't let me choose
- 46:08Speaker 2: UNC this past weekend. Y'all said, no, you can't do it.
- 46:12Speaker 7: We did.
- 46:13Speaker 2: I said, I want to.
- 46:13Speaker 7: But at the end of the day, you can do
- 46:14Speaker 7: whatever you want.
- 46:15Speaker 2: Okay, here we go. But that wouldn't be a Foxhole
- 46:18Speaker 2: thing to do. If you would have picked them, though,
- 46:19Speaker 2: they would have been.
- 46:20Speaker 4: Both.
- 46:21Speaker 2: Real bad. You can't do it. I'm not letting you.
- 46:23Speaker 2: It's not allowed. Well, it is. I want to say yes.
- 46:28Speaker 2: What'd you eat in Florida? Yeah. Vegas is around by
- 46:33Speaker 2: like 50 on that one. Vegas is dumb. Hour three,
- 46:36Speaker 2: coming your way.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 46:38Speaker 2: All right, go to gotommies.com. G-E-A-U-X.
