- 2:40Speaker 3: a little bit later on as well. Now, I'm going
- 2:42Speaker 3: to do something a little bit different before I get
- 2:44Speaker 3: to my first guests, and this is courtesy of the
- 2:47Speaker 3: fine folks of Jared Construction, the studio sponsors here. I'm
- 2:50Speaker 3: going to play auctioneer. Now hear me out here. The
- 2:54Speaker 3: good folks of Jared Construction, our studio sponsor, have provided
- 2:57Speaker 3: me with two tickets, two great seats for tonight's Marshall

- 3:05Speaker 3: level between home plate and first base. Tickets are in

- 3:26Speaker 3: Now that's a home here on Virginia Street in Charleston.
- 3:28Speaker 3: It's a sober transitional home for men recovering from substance abuse,
- 3:33Speaker 3: thank alcohol, drugs, things of that nature. So what I
- 3:36Speaker 3: will need you to do is call up Ryan with
- 3:39Speaker 3: your bid.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Now.
- 3:40Speaker 3: The bidding starts at twenty five dollars for the pair.
- 3:44Speaker 3: These are primo seats for the Marshall WVU baseball game

- 3:58Speaker 3: five dollars twenty five dollars a pair, and we will
- 4:02Speaker 3: announce the winning bit at the end of the show,

- 4:11Speaker 3: the winning bidder, we'll have the tickets. The way it's
- 4:13Speaker 3: gonna work is they're gonna be electronic tickets, So I'll
- 4:16Speaker 3: get the information to John Jarrett of Jered Construction. He

- 4:22Speaker 3: these are tickets for the Marshall WVU baseball game in
- 4:24Speaker 3: Morgantown tonight, Section one oh seven, roe Q seats five
- 4:29Speaker 3: and six, seventeen rows off the field, and any of
- 4:32Speaker 3: the money that we raised will go directly to the
- 4:34Speaker 3: Kanawa Valley Fellowship Home. The bidding starts at twenty five dollars. Operators,
- 4:39Speaker 3: as they say, are standing bye. Good morning. I'm bringing
- 4:44Speaker 3: John Lovejoy, our good friend from fresh Air. Hey doing man,
- 4:47Speaker 3: I am doing great. How are you, Dave? I am
- 4:49Speaker 3: doing fine. Welcome to the new digs here, man. Yeah,
- 4:51Speaker 3: this is pretty impressive. It's well, it's it's a work
- 4:55Speaker 3: in progress too. Yeah, I mean it's it is pretty impressive.
- 4:58Speaker 3: We're still trying to learn how things work again unless
- 5:01Speaker 3: you with the text this morning. But we're gonna try
- 5:02Speaker 3: to get that straightened out before the show's over. And
- 5:05Speaker 3: we've got some tools laying around here and there. But
- 5:08Speaker 3: you know, we'll eventually, we'll eventually get there. You know,
- 5:11Speaker 3: it could have at least brought us like a fruit Basketers.
- 5:14Speaker 5: Why had I known you were going to put me
- 5:16Speaker 5: in such elaborate quarters here, I probably would have.
- 5:20Speaker 3: We We did receive some nice gifts yesterday. I've never
- 5:23Speaker 3: and I think I don't know if it was the studio.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I think it was more because of the Metro News
- 5:29Speaker 3: midday show that we launched yesterday with Amanda Bear and
- 5:31Speaker 3: from thirteen News and Tonight Live and myself. I mean
- 5:35Speaker 3: I walked into the office yesterday. There's flower arrangements, there's
- 5:39Speaker 3: all this different stuff. Nobody ever gave me anything.
- 5:41Speaker 5: Well, I was going to say they were probably off
- 5:42Speaker 5: for a man.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, they were for a like you know, Coop's kid
- 5:46Speaker 3: like presented her with roses and she's like, looks at
- 5:48Speaker 3: me and goes, oh, hey, Dave, good luck. So there
- 5:51Speaker 3: you go. I mentioned earlier the Jason Pizitello from the
- 5:56Speaker 3: Contractors Association, John is going to be here later in
- 5:59Speaker 3: the show talking about they're upcoming expo they're doing. You
- 6:01Speaker 3: guys are going to be a part of that. Is
- 6:02Speaker 3: that right? We are going to be a part of that.
- 6:04Speaker 3: About microphone a little bit for me go ahead.
- 6:06Speaker 5: As as a matter of fact, when I leave here today,
- 6:08Speaker 5: I am heading over to the Charleston Coliseum and Convention
- 6:12Speaker 5: Center to start my setup there. And the expo runs
- 6:18Speaker 5: all day tomorrow and into Thursday morning. Yeah, and again
- 6:22Speaker 5: we'll talk to Jason about that a little bit later
- 6:25Speaker 5: on in the show. But what do you guys get
- 6:28Speaker 5: out of when at Fresh Air Filters? What do you
- 6:30Speaker 5: guys get out of when you go to the events
- 6:32Speaker 5: like thin because I know, you know a lot of
- 6:33Speaker 5: home shows and things like this, what do you get
- 6:35Speaker 5: out of that? We do a lot of it actually
- 6:37Speaker 5: is just to make people aware of what sets us
- 6:42Speaker 5: apart from going to the local box stores just to
- 6:45Speaker 5: buy a filter off the shelf, you know. And so
- 6:49Speaker 5: a lot of it's education, yeah, and a lot of
- 6:53Speaker 5: it's just you know, brand awareness and exposure.
- 6:55Speaker 6: You know.
- 6:56Speaker 5: And we like getting out and getting involved in events
- 6:59Speaker 5: like this, being involved in our community as often as
- 7:02Speaker 5: we can.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Indeed, Spring is now officially here kind of cool today,
- 7:09Speaker 3: a little rainfall in here in the Canal valley, but
- 7:11Speaker 3: that usually means for a lot of folks, myself included
- 7:13Speaker 3: that it kicks into some kind of allergy season. What
- 7:18Speaker 3: can air filters, what can quality air filters from fresh
- 7:21Speaker 3: air filters do to help the situation?
- 7:23Speaker 5: John, Well, you know they always talk about, you know,
- 7:25Speaker 5: when we change our clocks, it's a great time. It's
- 7:28Speaker 5: a good reminder to change the batteries and your fire alarms,
- 7:32Speaker 5: things along that line.
- 7:33Speaker 3: This time of year.
- 7:35Speaker 5: Is also a huge Like you mentioned, allergy season, that
- 7:39Speaker 5: switch over from winter to spring, you're going to have
- 7:42Speaker 5: all the pollen in the air. You know, things like
- 7:46Speaker 5: that clog your air filter, and so it's a great
- 7:49Speaker 5: time to remind yourself, you know, to change your filter,
- 7:54Speaker 5: or to give us a call, let us do it
- 7:56Speaker 5: for you. Our custom filters are better quality for your
- 8:04Speaker 5: HVAC unit. You know, things don't get around our filters,
- 8:08Speaker 5: so it protects that HVAC unit, and then the better
- 8:12Speaker 5: quality filter is going to give you a better breathing
- 8:14Speaker 5: air inside. You know, it's ironic, we live here in
- 8:18Speaker 5: a valley where air quality outside is not really the best,
- 8:24Speaker 5: but actually in our homes, your indoor air quality is
- 8:30Speaker 5: up to five times worse in your house than what
- 8:35Speaker 5: it is outside.
- 8:36Speaker 3: That's amazing. And you told me that John before, but
- 8:39Speaker 3: that is amazing to me to think about it. I mean,
- 8:41Speaker 3: we talked about and we've really battled, I know, in
- 8:44Speaker 3: this part of the world, we really battle with forest
- 8:45Speaker 3: fires and things of that nature. And you mentioned the
- 8:48Speaker 3: history that we have here in the Kanaw Valley with
- 8:50Speaker 3: various air issues. But it's amazing to me to think
- 8:54Speaker 3: about is that it's worse inside your house that it
- 8:57Speaker 3: is out.
- 8:58Speaker 5: It is simply because if you think about it, if
- 9:00Speaker 5: it's inside your house, you know, let's say, for instance.
- 9:03Speaker 2: You have a pet.
- 9:04Speaker 5: You let your pet out to play in the yard
- 9:07Speaker 5: and they come back in. You know, the pollen that's
- 9:11Speaker 5: in the air gets on their hair and everything. They shake,
- 9:15Speaker 5: and all of a sudden, that pallen's inside the house
- 9:18Speaker 5: and there's nowhere it's trapped inside, and so all of
- 9:24Speaker 5: that builds up.
- 9:25Speaker 2: So that's why it's important.
- 9:26Speaker 5: To have that good quality air filter to get that
- 9:31Speaker 5: out of the indoor air. Trap it in the filter
- 9:35Speaker 5: and that way you're not breathing it. In on a regular.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Basis, talking a lot to John Lovejoy again of fresh Air.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Give me some recent John, some success stories that you've
- 9:45Speaker 3: had with the company, people that you've been able to help.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Maybe you don't. And if it's a business, you don't
- 9:49Speaker 3: necessarily have to give me a business name and unless
- 9:51Speaker 3: you have their permission, but give me an individual. Give
- 9:53Speaker 3: me some recent success stories you guys have had from
- 9:55Speaker 3: fresh Air filters.
- 9:56Speaker 5: Oh, we have, We have several. We do have one
- 10:00Speaker 5: larger client that it's a commercial client, and the one
- 10:06Speaker 5: thing that they are amazed at is not only the
- 10:11Speaker 5: quality of the service, but the fact that we can
- 10:15Speaker 5: do it for the price that we do it. You know,
- 10:18Speaker 5: when when I first met with them and we're discussing this,
- 10:22Speaker 5: their big question was, I don't understand how you can
- 10:25Speaker 5: do this for this price.
- 10:28Speaker 3: And that's one thing that we.
- 10:29Speaker 5: Really pride ourselves on with fresh Air is that we
- 10:33Speaker 5: are affordable. You know, when you hear that it's a
- 10:37Speaker 5: custom frame and it's specially made in all of this
- 10:41Speaker 5: and a better quality filter. A lot of people think, Okay,
- 10:44Speaker 5: that's out of my budget, but we pride ourselves in
- 10:48Speaker 5: keeping that in the budget. There we've also had a
- 10:53Speaker 5: residential customer that was so happy with the service that
- 10:58Speaker 5: and they live here in Arlston, that they signed up
- 11:03Speaker 5: to get at their mother's house in Nicholas County. You know,
- 11:07Speaker 5: we do service the entire state of West Virginia. You
- 11:11Speaker 5: know we service southeastern Ohio and eastern Kentucky. Yeah, so
- 11:17Speaker 5: they wanted to give that almost like as a gift
- 11:21Speaker 5: to their elderly parent.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Talking to John Lovejoy, fresh air vaccines are your best
- 11:26Speaker 3: protection against severe disease from fluid and COVID nineteen. If
- 11:29Speaker 3: you're sixty five or older, risk less do more with
- 11:31Speaker 3: this season's vaccines. Get started at vaccines dot gov, paid
- 11:34Speaker 3: for by the US Department of Health and Human Services.
- 11:36Speaker 3: So again, people you come on from time to time, John,
- 11:39Speaker 3: if people are new to the show, sell me on
- 11:42Speaker 3: fresh air filters. Why should people as opposed to going
- 11:45Speaker 3: as you said, the term that you used and I
- 11:47Speaker 3: have used in the past, as opposed to go into
- 11:48Speaker 3: a big box store just to get in the whole
- 11:50Speaker 3: box full of them. Why should people in their commercial
- 11:53Speaker 3: business or for residential why should they choose fresh air filters.
- 11:58Speaker 5: Well, the main thing is the customization. A customized air
- 12:02Speaker 5: filter frame fits tighter into your h vacunit. It's also
- 12:08Speaker 5: made of metal. It's not cardboard, so that means when
- 12:10Speaker 5: your unit kicks on and off, it's heavier, so it
- 12:14Speaker 5: doesn't move where those cardboard ones will have a little
- 12:17Speaker 5: bit of movement to them when the h vacunit kicks
- 12:20Speaker 5: on and off. Any type of movement means things can
- 12:23Speaker 5: get around and into your h VAC unit. So it
- 12:26Speaker 5: helps protect your h VAC unit so that it can
- 12:30Speaker 5: work at its peak. When it works at its peak,
- 12:32Speaker 5: it can save up to fifteen percent on your energy consumption. Okay,
- 12:36Speaker 5: lower energy consumption means lower energy bills. So right now
- 12:40Speaker 5: we know time. You know, times are tough for a
- 12:43Speaker 5: lot of people. So if you can save money on
- 12:45Speaker 5: your energy bill, that's fantastic and we help provide that.
- 12:49Speaker 5: And then, like I mentioned, the filter that's inside is
- 12:53Speaker 5: a better quality, so you get better indoor air breathing
- 12:58Speaker 5: because it does filter out more. And then you never
- 13:01Speaker 5: have to remember when it's time to change the filter
- 13:04Speaker 5: because we schedule you on a regular basis and we
- 13:08Speaker 5: come out and we change that for you. You know, as
- 13:12Speaker 5: far as commercial, a lot of companies do have maintenance teams.
- 13:17Speaker 5: Do My commercial clients have found it's much cheaper to
- 13:21Speaker 5: have us come out and handle the air filter changes
- 13:24Speaker 5: than to have your own maintenance department employees handle that.
- 13:28Speaker 5: It also frees up your maintenance employees so that they
- 13:31Speaker 5: can be doing other issues, taking care of other issues.
- 13:34Speaker 3: So more gets accomplished.
- 13:36Speaker 5: You get your air filter frames changed and other things
- 13:41Speaker 5: marked off the maintenance list for a cheaper price.
- 13:44Speaker 3: John Lovejoy, how do people get in touch with you
- 13:47Speaker 3: at Fresh Air?
- 13:47Speaker 5: They can give me a call it's three zero four
- 13:51Speaker 5: four to four zero one one zero four, or they
- 13:55Speaker 5: can go to our website it's Fresh Air Filters dot us.
- 14:00Speaker 3: All right, always pleasure to have you on the show
- 14:02Speaker 3: and enjoy your time over the Connell Seamen Convention Center.

- 18:03Speaker 3: and I think I've got it, except for the fact
- 18:07Speaker 3: that I'm also getting text for every show around the company.
- 18:10Speaker 3: So what I really could do? Ryan, I'm getting Mike
- 18:13Speaker 3: Nolten's text down here. Who does a show sooner mine
- 18:16Speaker 3: in Morgantown? What if I answered Mike's text and he

- 18:29Speaker 3: I'm going to presume that that's me. It says Dave.
- 18:31Speaker 3: I appreciate your guest accurately stating Charleston Coliseum slightly off topic.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Have you heard when we're going to get our act
- 18:38Speaker 3: together and change those darn Civic Center signs on the interstates. Yeah,
- 18:42Speaker 3: it's no longer the Civic Center. It's the Coliseum and
- 18:45Speaker 3: convention Center. So I guess at some point they'll get
- 18:47Speaker 3: them change. But you know, it's just kind of like
- 18:50Speaker 3: in your hometown when you have a store that was called,
- 18:52Speaker 3: you know, Brown's for years and somebody buys it out,
- 18:55Speaker 3: it's always going to be Brown's. That's just kind of
- 18:57Speaker 3: the way it is. Do you want to remind you
- 18:59Speaker 3: we have our our auction going on courtesy of Jered Construction.
- 19:02Speaker 3: We had a couple of tickets for tonight's Marshall WVU
- 19:04Speaker 3: baseball game in Morgantown lower level between home played and
- 19:08Speaker 3: first base. Tickets are in Section one oh seven Roque
- 19:11Speaker 3: seats five and six seventeen rows off the field. Any
- 19:14Speaker 3: money raised will benefit through Jered Construction the folks at
- 19:18Speaker 3: the Knaw Valley Fellowship Home, which is just down the
- 19:20Speaker 3: street from us here on Virginia Street in Charleston. It's
- 19:22Speaker 3: a shelter for those battling substance abuse like drugs and
- 19:26Speaker 3: alcohol and things of that nature. We started the bid
- 19:27Speaker 3: at twenty five dollars, so if you want to call
- 19:30Speaker 3: up Ryan at three zero four, three four five fifty
- 19:32Speaker 3: eight fifty eight three zero four, three four five fifty
- 19:34Speaker 3: eight fifty eight. If you want to go higher than
- 19:36Speaker 3: twenty five, those tickets will be yours for the game
- 19:39Speaker 3: tonight in Morgantown. Jason Piztela from the Contractors Association coming
- 19:43Speaker 3: up a little bit later on in the show, I
- 19:46Speaker 3: want to talk about volunteerism for a moment. A lot
- 19:49Speaker 3: of different ways, a lot of different groups you can
- 19:50Speaker 3: volunteer to be a part of, especially in the medical field.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Kelly Anderson is camc's director of Volunteer Services and she
- 19:56Speaker 3: joins us now int the Jered Construction Studios. Kelly, good morning,
- 19:59Speaker 3: welcome to the the show.
- 20:00Speaker 12: Good morning, thanks for having me.
- 20:02Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. And you said you've never
- 20:03Speaker 3: been on radio before. Yeah, right, it's really not hard.
- 20:07Speaker 3: I mean I can do it. I pull it off.
- 20:09Speaker 3: I pull it off. I don't know how I pull
- 20:10Speaker 3: it off, especially right now with everything going on around here.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Talk about the different types of volunteering things that we
- 20:16Speaker 3: have going on, and see, I know you have one
- 20:18Speaker 3: in specific you want to get to, but let's talk
- 20:20Speaker 3: about overall volunteer opportunities in the world in the medical field.
- 20:24Speaker 12: So CMC is a great, big health system and it's
- 20:28Speaker 12: growing by leaps and bounds. Certainly, I represent the four
- 20:32Speaker 12: kind of legacy CMC hospitals, CMC Memorial, General, Women and
- 20:38Speaker 12: Children's and tayste Valley. And so between all of those
- 20:42Speaker 12: four hospitals, we have probably between one hundred and over
- 20:45Speaker 12: one hundred and fifty volunteers and they are able to
- 20:50Speaker 12: contribute to CMC's overall goal, which is to provide the
- 20:55Speaker 12: best healthcare to our patients all the time. And so
- 20:59Speaker 12: they inner in different roles at the bedside, or they
- 21:03Speaker 12: support the staff behind the scenes. They can be in
- 21:08Speaker 12: our lobbies, they can be doing more office support. But
- 21:13Speaker 12: the bottom line is is that they are they're contributing
- 21:18Speaker 12: to the quality of the experience of our patients and
- 21:22Speaker 12: that's our overall goal.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Talk about the age of volunteers, I mean, because I'm
- 21:28Speaker 3: sure that you have a lot of older people that
- 21:30Speaker 3: want to deal, but there's also maybe some younger people.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Is there an age minimum.
- 21:33Speaker 12: Yes, we do have teen volunteer opportunities available, and so
- 21:39Speaker 12: we have from teens to we I think our oldest
- 21:44Speaker 12: volunteer is ninety three really, and you know, as you
- 21:48Speaker 12: could expect, our volunteer population is aging. And so we've
- 21:54Speaker 12: had some volunteers who've been there for forty years and
- 21:58Speaker 12: so they're getting to the place where they're saying, you know,
- 22:01Speaker 12: I think maybe it's about time that I hang out
- 22:05Speaker 12: my volunteer hat or health reasons obviously as they're aging
- 22:10Speaker 12: kind of keep them from being able to move forward,
- 22:13Speaker 12: and so we're left with kind of a gap, you know,
- 22:17Speaker 12: these aging volunteers that have sustained our volunteer program for
- 22:21Speaker 12: so many years. Now we're looking for younger folks and
- 22:27Speaker 12: just to get that volunteerism concept back into people's minds
- 22:35Speaker 12: because there's so many opportunities and it doesn't just vo
- 22:40Speaker 12: doesn't just impact the people that you're serving. It impacts
- 22:44Speaker 12: you and it impacts you, know, your heart, and most
- 22:49Speaker 12: of our volunteers will say they get much more out
- 22:51Speaker 12: of it than they than they seem to, you know,
- 22:56Speaker 12: feel like they give to others.
- 22:58Speaker 3: All right, talking to Kelly Anderson, I need to put
- 23:00Speaker 3: you on hold just for one second here, because I
- 23:02Speaker 3: find out that with this auction that we're doing with
- 23:04Speaker 3: de Vosa Jerry Construction, we now have the bid up
- 23:07Speaker 3: to one hundred dollars for those WVU Marshall Baseball tickets
- 23:10Speaker 3: tonight for the game in Morgantown. And again the proceeds
- 23:14Speaker 3: from that are going to benefit the as I mentioned earlier,
- 23:18Speaker 3: the Canawa Valley Fellowship Home. And so the bid is
- 23:23Speaker 3: now up to one hundred dollars for those pair of
- 23:25Speaker 3: tickets and those are premo seats I mean for that
- 23:27Speaker 3: game tonight in Morgantown. So so so well, you can
- 23:30Speaker 3: bid if you want to, if you you got to
- 23:32Speaker 3: be one hundred dollars now, because that's where that was the.
- 23:33Speaker 12: Leader Morgantown too, right, Yeah, you got to go to Morgantown.
- 23:36Speaker 3: You got to go to Morgantown for the game. When
- 23:39Speaker 3: you look when you're reaching out Kelly for volunteers, what
- 23:42Speaker 3: are you looking for? I mean, not not specifically their role,
- 23:45Speaker 3: but what kind of person are you looking to volunteer?
- 23:48Speaker 12: We are truly looking for people who have a heart
- 23:51Speaker 12: to serve, who have a heart to be there for
- 23:55Speaker 12: other people, to be empathic. And you know, people are
- 24:00Speaker 12: not in the hospital because they want to be right,
- 24:02Speaker 12: They're always there for reasons that you know they wouldn't
- 24:07Speaker 12: choose typically, and so for somebody to come in as
- 24:11Speaker 12: a volunteer and be there because they want to be
- 24:14Speaker 12: and be willing to just try to make somebody's day
- 24:17Speaker 12: a little bit better. You know, we can't change the
- 24:19Speaker 12: circumstances for our patients, but we can at least be
- 24:24Speaker 12: there with them and support them and you know, maybe
- 24:28Speaker 12: distract them a little bit, Yeah, with conversation and you know,
- 24:32Speaker 12: shared experiences and just being a friendly face willing to
- 24:37Speaker 12: help them when they're maybe lost wandering the halls of
- 24:40Speaker 12: our big hospitals.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Yeah, talking to Kelly Anderson, who's the director of Volunteering at CAMC.
- 24:46Speaker 3: But Dave Allen Show on five to eighty Live is
- 24:47Speaker 3: brought to you partly by Pinnacle Consultants. Pinnacle offers a
- 24:50Speaker 3: four phase assessment for your properties, inspection, sampling, that analysis,
- 24:54Speaker 3: comprehensive reporting, and management planning. Visit Pinnacle court dot net.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Because what you don't know can hurt you. Now I
- 24:59Speaker 3: know that you were he had a specific type of volunteers.
- 25:01Speaker 3: According to the folks that reached out to me about
- 25:03Speaker 3: having you on the show today, there's something in particular
- 25:05Speaker 3: that you're looking forward as at the eleventh Hour. Is
- 25:08Speaker 3: that what it's called explain.
- 25:09Speaker 12: As We have a fairly new program that we began
- 25:13Speaker 12: two years ago and we're just starting to see it
- 25:17Speaker 12: pick up. It's it's a kind of a bittersweet type
- 25:22Speaker 12: of program, but our goal at CMC we really don't
- 25:27Speaker 12: want anybody to die in our hospital alone. And so
- 25:32Speaker 12: that does happen. You know, we have patients who are
- 25:36Speaker 12: passing that you know, maybe they're family, they don't have
- 25:39Speaker 12: family anymore, maybe their family is away or out of
- 25:43Speaker 12: state and not able to be with them. And so
- 25:47Speaker 12: if that happens, our nursing staff kind of struggles because
- 25:52Speaker 12: that's not the only patient they have, and they would
- 25:55Speaker 12: like to be with them and sit with them as
- 25:57Speaker 12: they pass, but they have other patients to take care of.
- 26:01Speaker 12: So that's always a struggle emotionally, I think for our
- 26:05Speaker 12: for our clinical staff. And so we developed a program
- 26:09Speaker 12: that's called Eleventh Hour Companions, and our volunteers that have
- 26:14Speaker 12: the desire to be there for our patients in their
- 26:18Speaker 12: last moments and just sit with them, be present with
- 26:23Speaker 12: them during that time. They we we have a short
- 26:27Speaker 12: training that we that we go through with them so
- 26:30Speaker 12: that they can understand and feel comfortable in the in
- 26:33Speaker 12: the process and in the hospital with the patient during
- 26:36Speaker 12: that time. And then we if we get a phone
- 26:40Speaker 12: call from the nursing staff that says, hey, we have
- 26:43Speaker 12: someone here that's alone that's passing, then I send a
- 26:48Speaker 12: or we send a text out to all of those
- 26:51Speaker 12: volunteers on that team and they immediately will respond with
- 26:55Speaker 12: their availability and we'll put together a schedule for them
- 26:58Speaker 12: to go and just sit there with the patient and
- 27:02Speaker 12: be there during those moments that are really precious and
- 27:08Speaker 12: allow that person to not be alone during that time.
- 27:11Speaker 3: And I would think you talked about the training program
- 27:13Speaker 3: that you go through. That's got to be pretty intense
- 27:16Speaker 3: to tell people. I mean, because I can't. I mean,
- 27:18Speaker 3: I think God blesses people that can do that, but
- 27:20Speaker 3: I can't imagine what that must be like. And it's
- 27:24Speaker 3: going to tell you, it's going to be a special
- 27:26Speaker 3: type person that's going to be able to do that.
- 27:28Speaker 12: I think so. And I think what we've found is
- 27:30Speaker 12: is that most of our volunteers on that team have
- 27:34Speaker 12: had previous experience with being with a family member, maybe
- 27:39Speaker 12: at the end of their life, or or maybe they
- 27:42Speaker 12: weren't able to be with a family member at the
- 27:45Speaker 12: end of their life because of certain circumstances, and so
- 27:49Speaker 12: they feel like this is an opportunity for them. And
- 27:53Speaker 12: I think there is kind of a special niche that
- 27:57Speaker 12: you know, there are some people who who do see
- 28:00Speaker 12: it as a really special opportunity, and I believe it is.
- 28:04Speaker 12: But I do believe you're right. It takes there's usually
- 28:07Speaker 12: a reason behind it or a special something in their
- 28:11Speaker 12: heart to make them want that.
- 28:12Speaker 3: I would imagine, well, it's a great program. I mean
- 28:15Speaker 3: it is, and I think that you folks are to
- 28:18Speaker 3: be commended, you know, for doing this sort of thing
- 28:21Speaker 3: now in this eleventh hour program. Is it's something that
- 28:25Speaker 3: we talked about age earlier. Is it something that you
- 28:27Speaker 3: want an older person for work? Can we use younger
- 28:30Speaker 3: people in those roles?
- 28:30Speaker 12: We probably wouldn't use a teenager, but we also have
- 28:34Speaker 12: college volunteers or you know, younger adult volunteers, so there's
- 28:38Speaker 12: no real age criteria for that for this, you know,
- 28:42Speaker 12: we would just want somebody who was willing to, you know,
- 28:47Speaker 12: to be part of that difficult experience with a patient.
- 28:52Speaker 12: And so there's really not any other age criteria.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Okay, all right. And the reason I in people that
- 28:58Speaker 3: listen to the show on a regular basis know that
- 29:00Speaker 3: when we talk about anything relating to volunteering, and I
- 29:02Speaker 3: always mention the young people because in West Virginia, young
- 29:06Speaker 3: people are required to do so much community service in
- 29:08Speaker 3: order to graduate from high school. Yes, and so these
- 29:11Speaker 3: things could be a great opportunity for folks like that.
- 29:14Speaker 12: Well, and I think that's definitely true. Typically, those the
- 29:19Speaker 12: community service requirements are like maybe a twenty hour or
- 29:22Speaker 12: a thirty hour service requirement. And because our volunteers are
- 29:26Speaker 12: considered part of our workforce.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Okay, I got you, yet, we.
- 29:30Speaker 12: Really can't provide okay, a twenty year, short term type
- 29:33Speaker 12: of community service. Now, there are some things that they
- 29:37Speaker 12: could do, like a kind of a come and do
- 29:40Speaker 12: it once and leave that wouldn't be part of the
- 29:43Speaker 12: volunteer program, I got you, guess. But if they want
- 29:46Speaker 12: to be part of a volunteer program and are willing
- 29:49Speaker 12: to commit to you know the equivalent of a school year,
- 29:52Speaker 12: essentially a nine month or a year commitment. Then we
- 29:56Speaker 12: would love to have them, and we have lots of opportunities.
- 29:59Speaker 12: Are those teenagers I.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Would imagine too, because we all know what a shortage
- 30:03Speaker 3: we have of healthcare workers people go into the medical
- 30:05Speaker 3: field that maybe someone comes in there, a younger person
- 30:08Speaker 3: that says, well, I'm just going to start off, as
- 30:09Speaker 3: you said, with just a minimum amount, and they get
- 30:12Speaker 3: in there and kind of get their feet wet. One
- 30:13Speaker 3: of two things can happen. They can get in there
- 30:15Speaker 3: and say this is my life's calling, or they can
- 30:18Speaker 3: get in there and say this ain't for me one
- 30:21Speaker 3: way or the other.
- 30:22Speaker 12: Absolutely, And I think we get those students who come
- 30:26Speaker 12: in and they're like, you know, I don't really know
- 30:28Speaker 12: what I want to do, and this is that opportunity,
- 30:30Speaker 12: like you said, or we have probably more often we
- 30:34Speaker 12: have folks who are they're ready, they know I want
- 30:38Speaker 12: to be in the medical field, and this is a
- 30:40Speaker 12: way for them to kind of build their resume and
- 30:44Speaker 12: build some time in with being with clinical staff and
- 30:49Speaker 12: being with providers so that they can kind of get
- 30:51Speaker 12: their feet wet as they're moving into maybe college and
- 30:55Speaker 12: maybe med school that kind of thing.
- 30:57Speaker 3: All right, Where can people learn more? It's the best
- 30:59Speaker 3: way to, you know, to reach you. Right now, people
- 31:01Speaker 3: are listening and they're saying, I want to get involved
- 31:03Speaker 3: in this. I want to I want to get my
- 31:05Speaker 3: church group, my city group. Me as an individual. What's
- 31:07Speaker 3: the best way to reach you?
- 31:08Speaker 12: We would love for you to reach out to us.
- 31:11Speaker 12: You can call us at three eight eight three oh
- 31:14Speaker 12: four three eight eight seven four two six, or you

- 31:24Speaker 12: page as well as an application you'd complete to get started.

- 31:31Speaker 12: you need, you can certainly call us.
- 31:33Speaker 3: All right, Kelly, I appreciate you being here. Thanks a lot.

- 36:20Speaker 3: but I just did the West Virginia Construction and Design Expo,
- 36:23Speaker 3: as I mentioned earlier, back at the Coloseem the Convention
- 36:25Speaker 3: Center this Wednesday and Thursday. Jason Pisateela the executive director
- 36:29Speaker 3: of the Contractors Association of West Virginia. He joins us
- 36:32Speaker 3: now from an undisclosed location on the road. Good morning,
- 36:35Speaker 3: Welcome to the show, sir, Hey.
- 36:38Speaker 9: Good morning Dave.
- 36:38Speaker 15: Thanks for having me on the program again.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. Happening tomorrow and Thursday, right.
- 36:44Speaker 15: Yes, sir, it's WVXPO time of the year at the
- 36:48Speaker 15: Charleston Civic Center Coliseum. We have over three hundred and
- 36:52Speaker 15: fifty exhibitors that are registered and about three thousand attendees
- 36:55Speaker 15: already free registered to attend Expo the next cup of days.
- 37:00Speaker 15: So if you're downtown, you're the Civic Center, please combine
- 37:03Speaker 15: and see us.
- 37:04Speaker 3: And I would think that based on the sheer numbers.
- 37:07Speaker 3: And there's a lot of big events that come to
- 37:08Speaker 3: the Colosseum and Convention Center of course different you know,
- 37:11Speaker 3: home shows, hunting shows, so on and so forth. I
- 37:13Speaker 3: would think based on the numbers, especially on the vendors. Jason,
- 37:17Speaker 3: this is probably one of the biggest things that happens
- 37:19Speaker 3: over there.
- 37:21Speaker 15: I think that's right, Dave. And we essentially use every
- 37:24Speaker 15: inch of the Civic Center and the Coliseum Convention Center
- 37:28Speaker 15: that the city will give us, both inside and outside.
- 37:31Speaker 15: If you drive by on Coarrier Street or Glendenon Street,
- 37:34Speaker 15: you'll see the major equipment that's out front already, and
- 37:37Speaker 15: then when you come inside to the lobby and inside
- 37:40Speaker 15: to the coliseum, you're really going to see the latest
- 37:42Speaker 15: and greatest in the construction industry and consultant design architecture
- 37:47Speaker 15: has to offer this year.
- 37:49Speaker 3: And give us an example of some of the time.
- 37:52Speaker 3: I mean, you mentioned some of them that'll be there,
- 37:53Speaker 3: but give us an example of some that'll be there.
- 37:56Speaker 3: And who is this really designed for.
- 37:58Speaker 15: Jason, It's really designed for anybody that is in the
- 38:03Speaker 15: construction industry or wants to be in the construction industry.
- 38:06Speaker 15: We also use it as a recruitment and retention tool
- 38:09Speaker 15: for our workforce, and every year for the last I
- 38:13Speaker 15: don't know, thirty or forty years, the industry has gotten
- 38:15Speaker 15: together in the second or third week in March in
- 38:18Speaker 15: downtown Charleston to put everybody essentially in one space. And
- 38:23Speaker 15: it's designed for contractors, architects, engineers, state and federal agencies,
- 38:28Speaker 15: those that procure and purchase construction services, anybody who's anybody
- 38:34Speaker 15: around the industry we think is going to be at
- 38:37Speaker 15: the Civic Center this week for the next couple of days.
- 38:39Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 38:39Speaker 3: I had John lovejoy Er, good friend from Fresh Air Filters,
- 38:42Speaker 3: on the show a little bit earlier, and of course
- 38:45Speaker 3: they sponsored the show, and John told me he said, look,
- 38:47Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to head O. They're over there every year.
- 38:49Speaker 3: That's just one of the ones that's there.
- 38:52Speaker 15: Yeah, it is. And we've got a really exciting guest
- 38:54Speaker 15: speaker tomorrow morning, Dave at nine o'clock in the Civic
- 38:59Speaker 15: Center's little theater. Her Emily Callandrelli, who some of your
- 39:02Speaker 15: listeners may remember, was the Not only was she the
- 39:06Speaker 15: twenty twenty four West Virginian of the Year by the
- 39:09Speaker 15: Charleston is a mail but also she was the most
- 39:12Speaker 15: recent woman in Space and she is a stem oriented lecturer,
- 39:19Speaker 15: television personality, author, West Virginia native really does a lot
- 39:25Speaker 15: for West Virginia University, her alma mater, and Marshall University.
- 39:28Speaker 15: And she will be our keynote speaker tomorrow morning at
- 39:31Speaker 15: nine o'clock, and we've got a lot of people really
- 39:33Speaker 15: excited about what she has to say.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Can if people John, if they just want to come
- 39:39Speaker 3: in and maybe hear her speak tomorrow? I mean, can
- 39:42Speaker 3: can they do that? Is there not if they're not
- 39:44Speaker 3: a vendor? I mean you can? Can the public come?
- 39:47Speaker 15: Yes? They can. They just have to go online and
- 39:49Speaker 15: register at wvxpo dot com. There's a button at the
- 39:53Speaker 15: top that says attend and you just fill out a
- 39:55Speaker 15: forum there and check a few boxes and you'll be
- 39:59Speaker 15: register for the show. Because you will need a name
- 40:02Speaker 15: badge to get into the Civic Center. And if you
- 40:04Speaker 15: go online, ahead of time, or you can register on
- 40:06Speaker 15: the day of the show in the lobby.
- 40:08Speaker 3: What about vendors, Is it too late for a vendor
- 40:11Speaker 3: to sign up? I would think that you're if you're
- 40:13Speaker 3: not there yet, you're about to get there.
- 40:14Speaker 15: Jason, Yeah, it is. We sold out about two and
- 40:18Speaker 15: a half weeks ago of all of our space in
- 40:21Speaker 15: the coliseum and in the two exhibit halls, and it
- 40:24Speaker 15: will really be wall to wall for the next couple
- 40:27Speaker 15: of days. And I mean, I think it's a great
- 40:29Speaker 15: showing for the industry that we sell this out every year.
- 40:33Speaker 3: All right, Hey, Jason again, give us the website, give
- 40:36Speaker 3: us the Facebook, give us where people can learn more
- 40:38Speaker 3: information about the big events. It's tomorrow and Thursday with
- 40:40Speaker 3: the coliseum.
- 40:43Speaker 15: Thanks David. It's WVXPO dot com or if you're on
- 40:47Speaker 15: Facebook at wv XPO. Thanks for having me on the program.
- 40:51Speaker 3: All right, Jason, I appreciate it. We'll see you tomorrow
- 40:53Speaker 3: and Thursday. Man, thanks a lot, Thank you, Take care
- 40:56Speaker 3: all right, Jason. Piztella from the Contractor Association. Again, this
- 40:58Speaker 3: is one of the biggest events that happen. It's in
- 41:00Speaker 3: Charleston every year, and the vendor space is completely gone
- 41:04Speaker 3: at this point, but signing guest speaker there. So it's
- 41:08Speaker 3: happening tomorrow and also on Thursday with the Kylo Steama
- 41:11Speaker 3: Convention Center. Just go to their website because even if
- 41:13Speaker 3: you just want to go in, you don't want to
- 41:15Speaker 3: be a vendor, but you want to look around, you
- 41:16Speaker 3: want to hear the speech tomorrow morning, which is at
- 41:18Speaker 3: nine in the Little Theater. You got a register and
- 41:21Speaker 3: you can do that again by going to their website.

- 41:38Speaker 3: Charleston Urban Works is going to be here. There's an
- 41:40Speaker 3: interesting article that appeared in the paper a couple of
- 41:43Speaker 3: days ago. I guess about the ongoing construction in kanas
- 41:47Speaker 3: City and if I visit there occasionally, but if you
- 41:51Speaker 3: live there, you work there, you know what it's like
- 41:54Speaker 3: in Kanawa City. And this has been an ongoing, ongoing,
- 41:58Speaker 3: seemingly forever process over there with the construction in Kanau City.
- 42:03Speaker 3: Looks like there's light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.
- 42:07Speaker 3: And there was an article that appeared in the Gazette
- 42:09Speaker 3: Mail with Rick Cavet or Charleston Urban Works not long
- 42:11Speaker 3: ago about that a couple days ago, maybe a week
- 42:13Speaker 3: or so ago, I think, And that's how I saw
- 42:15Speaker 3: that and reached out to my buddy Rick and said, hey,
- 42:16Speaker 3: you need to come in and talk about that, because
- 42:18Speaker 3: there's some exciting things going on now that the construction
- 42:21Speaker 3: is hopefully starting to wrap up over in Kaaw City.
- 42:24Speaker 3: That is on tomorrow's show. Also, we're going to get
- 42:26Speaker 3: a check in for Steven Allen Adams, our good friend
- 42:28Speaker 3: from Augden Newspapers, to see what's going on with them.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Lots of the news out of the Capito. I'm gonna
- 42:32Speaker 3: get to some of it here momentarily now. Coming up

- 42:48Speaker 3: get a visit from US Senator Jim Justice. He'll be
- 42:50Speaker 3: on the show today. There is an eleven year old
- 42:54Speaker 3: I believe he was eleven, an eleven year old youngster
- 42:58Speaker 3: that you're going to want to meet because his mother
- 43:01Speaker 3: is in the legislature and he helped her craft legislation
- 43:05Speaker 3: at eleven years old. I think we're going to talk
- 43:07Speaker 3: to him on the show today. Western Guinion Secretary to

- 47:31Speaker 3: Metronews dot com. And you know that's been a hot
- 47:34Speaker 3: one this session, and we first broke the story cheap
- 47:38Speaker 3: plug here yesterday. Brad Michaelheney broke it on air with
- 47:41Speaker 3: us A Metro News Midday with myself thirteen and thirteen
- 47:44Speaker 3: News in Tonight Live anchor Amanda Baron. The discussion went
- 47:49Speaker 3: on for about two hours yesterday. An amendment to assure
- 47:54Speaker 3: religious exemptions would be included in the bill that was
- 47:56Speaker 3: actually adopted on Friday. The bill, well, this is the
- 48:00Speaker 3: bill that was introduced by Governor Morrissey and was talked about,
- 48:04Speaker 3: if you'll recall during the State of the Set speech.
- 48:10Speaker 3: One bill did pass the Senate last month with some
- 48:13Speaker 3: changes from the original. What I thought was really interesting
- 48:17Speaker 3: about this was the number of Republican no votes on
- 48:24Speaker 3: the bill, which sort of told me that, well, you know,
- 48:27Speaker 3: they say that all Republicans sometimes they can say all
- 48:31Speaker 3: Democrats too, are all in lockstep with each other. I
- 48:34Speaker 3: think we prove that maybe that's not necessarily the case,
- 48:36Speaker 3: because there were a lot of Republicans that voted against
- 48:40Speaker 3: the bill. Interesting now to me to see the governor's response,
- 48:47Speaker 3: as it is seen as a major loss to the
- 48:50Speaker 3: Governor's agenda. One group who spoke out strongly against the
- 48:53Speaker 3: proposed bill was the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Brian
- 48:56Speaker 3: Dayton from the Chamber will weigh in on the subject
- 48:58Speaker 3: with me this afternoon. Metro News Midday during the two
- 49:02Speaker 3: o'clock hour also, and then we'll go to the Capitol.
- 49:04Speaker 5: Ryan.
- 49:04Speaker 3: Also yesterday, Aaron Parker this story at wv metronews dot com.
- 49:08Speaker 3: The governor signed a food dive bill House Built twenty
- 49:11Speaker 3: three fifty four and it ban's food dies from being
- 49:13Speaker 3: used in the Mountain State in schools and at some
- 49:15Speaker 3: point later in the state. Now, the bill name seven
- 49:19Speaker 3: dies that are considered to be unsafe and those will
- 49:23Speaker 3: be banned from public schools starting August first. The complete
- 49:26Speaker 3: list of all those dies available as part of Aaron's
- 49:28Speaker 3: story on the website. That dies also banned in drugs
- 49:30Speaker 3: and food items for sale in the States on your
- 49:34Speaker 3: grocer's shelf starting in the year twenty twenty eight. This is,
- 49:38Speaker 3: in my opinion, going to be a nightmare for the
- 49:40Speaker 3: grocers and other retailers in the state. Now, mark my
- 49:43Speaker 3: words on that. Now, other states have done it, and
- 49:46Speaker 3: maybe West Virginia can learn from some of the things
- 49:48Speaker 3: that they have done. But it's not going to be easy,
- 49:51Speaker 3: which is why a lot of trade organizations have some
- 49:54Speaker 3: real heartburn, if you'll pardon the pun over that. Let's
- 49:59Speaker 3: go live now to the Capitol and check in with
- 50:02Speaker 3: Dave Wilson and TJ. Meadows getting ready to go live
- 50:05Speaker 3: from the Belly of the Beasts. Good morning fellows.
- 50:08Speaker 16: Well we finally figured figure it out, Dave. You've been
- 50:12Speaker 16: having you've been consuming all these food dies over the here.
- 50:15Speaker 16: That explains it all.
- 50:16Speaker 3: Food explains it all. Food dies and coal mine water
- 50:20Speaker 3: made me and made me, made me what I am?
- 50:23Speaker 16: That just put hair on your chest.
- 50:25Speaker 3: You're right right there, Yeah, yeah, you're right about that.
- 50:28Speaker 3: All right. So the we saw we've about you know,
- 50:31Speaker 3: one thirty two o'clock or so yesterday, word came down.
- 50:33Speaker 3: I had TJ on on the on the Metro News
- 50:35Speaker 3: midday yesterday, we went live and checked in with Brad
- 50:37Speaker 3: at the Capitol. Word came down that the vaccination bill
- 50:40Speaker 3: uh uh is what was voted down? Do you agree
- 50:44Speaker 3: with me what I just said that this is going
- 50:46Speaker 3: to be seen possibly as a major blow to the
- 50:49Speaker 3: governor's agenda.
- 50:51Speaker 15: Uh?
- 50:51Speaker 16: Yeah, I do agree with that. That's two major blows, right.
- 50:54Speaker 16: He wanted to repeal the Certificate need that went down
- 50:58Speaker 16: in House Health. This was part of his agenda. He
- 51:01Speaker 16: issued the executive order, brought it up during his State
- 51:04Speaker 16: of the Union. This one also went down. So, yeah,
- 51:06Speaker 16: this is a blow to the agenda, and it's been
- 51:08Speaker 16: it's been a lackluster first session for the governor certainly.
- 51:12Speaker 3: And so what's the relationship? I mean, what are you
- 51:15Speaker 3: hearing as you're in the belly of the best and
- 51:17Speaker 3: you're in the hallways. Are you hearing anything about how
- 51:19Speaker 3: upset the governor is about this?
- 51:21Speaker 16: I haven't heard anything about that yet. Mostly have been
- 51:24Speaker 16: talking to delegates and getting some reaction from the Senate
- 51:28Speaker 16: side as well, Dave. And you know, I'm curious to
- 51:33Speaker 16: learn more about the delegates change in attitude because twelve
- 51:37Speaker 16: people flip from Friday to Monday. You know, was it
- 51:42Speaker 16: your conscience? Was it just okay, I'm going to vote
- 51:45Speaker 16: this ahead on Friday, But that doesn't, you know, my
- 51:48Speaker 16: final vote. So I'm curious to get more information about that.
- 51:51Speaker 16: Gino Sharelli, Montague County delegate, is going to join us,
- 51:55Speaker 16: and he has seen this bill from start to finish
- 51:57Speaker 16: as it came through House, Health and the legislatures. So
- 52:00Speaker 16: we'll get his take on that a little bit later
- 52:01Speaker 16: this morning.
- 52:02Speaker 3: All right, guys, we'll be listening. I do appreciate it.
- 52:05Speaker 16: Thanks a lot, all right, Dave, this was kind of
- 52:07Speaker 16: a cordial, cordial segment today.
- 52:10Speaker 3: This doesn't feel right at all. We'll try to make
- 52:12Speaker 3: it better tomorrow.
- 52:13Speaker 9: How's that all right? We'll work on it tomorrowing.
- 52:14Speaker 3: All right, we can always get better, Yes, Dave Wilson,
