- 0:00Speaker 1: Please, please, when it comes to beef, please look at
- 0:04Speaker 1: the cartel that is the meat processing cartel. I mean,
- 0:10Speaker 1: that is, I run a ranch, so I know what
- 0:14Speaker 1: it's like. And I'm telling you, it is the processing plants.
- 0:17Speaker 1: There's four of them, and I think two of them
- 0:19Speaker 1: are not even American.
- 0:20Speaker 2: It's bad.
- 0:21Speaker 3: You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:25Speaker 4: Good Friday morning. Nice to have you with us on
- 0:27Speaker 4: the 47 Morning Update. And we've got two big stories
- 0:30Speaker 4: for you. First up, you may remember when Donald Trump
- 0:33Speaker 4: decided to change the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf
- 0:36Speaker 4: of America. Well, now he's changing the name of Lake
- 0:40Speaker 4: Ontario to Lake America. And it all has to do
- 0:43Speaker 4: with what is happening with the trade negotiations with Canada.
- 0:47Speaker 4: We'll break it down for you. Also, Donald Trump making
- 0:50Speaker 4: a very interesting conversation turn into what could be major
- 0:55Speaker 4: policy changes to lower the price of beef for all
- 0:58Speaker 4: Americans happening in a conversation he had with Glenn Beck.
- 1:02Speaker 4: We have the details for you and what it could
- 1:04Speaker 4: mean moving forward for what you're paying for beef at
- 1:08Speaker 4: the grocery store. It's the 47 Morning Update, and it
- 1:11Speaker 4: starts right now.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Story number one.
- 1:14Speaker 4: I want to take you back in time to one
- 1:16Speaker 4: of the things the president of the United States of
- 1:17Speaker 4: America did to send a clear message to Mexico and
- 1:20Speaker 4: to other countries that, well, when he's in charge, we're
- 1:23Speaker 4: not messing around. Remember the Gulf of Mexico? And he
- 1:27Speaker 4: renamed it the Gulf of America. It wasn't just about
- 1:31Speaker 4: renaming a body of water. It was about sending a
- 1:34Speaker 4: message that America is back. And it clearly sent a message,
- 1:38Speaker 4: a message that many would believe absolutely worked, especially when
- 1:41Speaker 4: it comes to the issue of securing our southern border. Well,
- 1:45Speaker 4: now President Trump is taking that same game plan and
- 1:49Speaker 4: using it when it comes to tariff leverage with Canada.
- 1:53Speaker 4: President Donald Trump signing an executive order on Thursday, renaming
- 1:59Speaker 4: Lake Ontario Lake America, all because the trade tensions with Canada. Now,
- 2:05Speaker 4: this move comes less than a week after prospects of
- 2:09Speaker 4: a trade deal with Canada collapsed. And days after he
- 2:12Speaker 4: announced a 50 percent tariff on Canadian autos, and Steele
- 2:17Speaker 4: set to kick in next year, giving time for a
- 2:20Speaker 4: deal to be done. The president saying this at the
- 2:23Speaker 4: White House as he was signing the executive order.
- 2:26Speaker 5: We're going to be changing the name of Lake Ontario,
- 2:31Speaker 5: effective immediately to Lake America. That's going to take place
- 2:37Speaker 5: right now as I sign the Do you have anything
- 2:39Speaker 5: to say about it, Ben?
- 2:41Speaker 6: Yes, sir.
- 2:41Speaker 7: So this is a straightforward but important executive order. It
- 2:45Speaker 7: directs Secretary Burgum and the Department of the Interior to
- 2:48Speaker 7: update the Geographic Names Information Service to reflect that the
- 2:53Speaker 7: lake once known as Lake Ontario will from this day
- 2:56Speaker 7: forward be known as Lake America. This is a lake
- 2:58Speaker 7: that has most of its volume in the United States.
- 3:01Speaker 7: The deepest parts of the lake sit in United States territory,
- 3:04Speaker 7: so this will.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Reflect that this is an American lake.
- 3:08Speaker 5: Thank you. Okay. And we filed all the necessary papers, documents,
- 3:14Speaker 5: everything else. We've notified all of the various people that
- 3:18Speaker 5: we have to notify. So we've done everything that you
- 3:21Speaker 5: have to do. And this is official, effective immediately.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Now, this also comes, the president made it very clear
- 3:29Speaker 4: in a phone call to Glenn Beck that it's time
- 3:32Speaker 4: for Canada to understand what we're doing. But before we
- 3:35Speaker 4: get to that, I want to talk to you real
- 3:36Speaker 4: quick about a company that is having a huge impact
- 3:40Speaker 4: every day just because of people like you that are
- 3:43Speaker 4: making a simple switch because of a bill you already have.
- 3:46Speaker 4: And I'm talking about your cell phone. We know that
- 3:49Speaker 4: it feels like we've got momentum and we know that
- 3:51Speaker 4: we have leaders fighting to restore common sense and America first.
- 3:55Speaker 4: But we've also seen this before. The left gets excited.
- 3:58Speaker 4: They've lost power and they want it back at all costs.
- 4:02Speaker 4: And ahead of the midterms, we know we can't let
- 4:04Speaker 4: that happen. That's why America needs every one of us
- 4:07Speaker 4: in the fight. And a big part of that is
- 4:09Speaker 4: meaning you support companies that actually stand for your values
- 4:12Speaker 4: instead of working against them. Big Mobile, they'll fight against
- 4:15Speaker 4: what you believe in, and they've been doing it for years.
- 4:18Speaker 4: And that's how Patriot Mobile actually got started. Now, not
- 4:21Speaker 4: only does Patriot Mobile give you premium priority nationwide service,
- 4:25Speaker 4: you can get on any of the three major U.S. networks.
- 4:29Speaker 4: That means you get the coverage you need nationwide. They
- 4:31Speaker 4: also have unlimited data plans, mobile hotspots, international roaming. And
- 4:35Speaker 4: I love this, a 100% U.S.-based customer support team. Switching
- 4:40Speaker 4: has never been easier. You can keep your same phone,
- 4:43Speaker 4: keep your same number, and activate in minutes all over
- 4:47Speaker 4: a simple phone call. Now, this is what I love.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Patriot Mobile, they were built as a company to fight
- 4:53Speaker 4: for defending America's faith, family, and freedom. And every year,
- 4:57Speaker 4: they donate millions of dollars at no extra cost to you,
- 5:01Speaker 4: to organizations that stand up for our freedoms. So make
- 5:04Speaker 4: a difference with a bill you're going to have every month.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Go to PatriotMobile.com slash Ben47. That's PatriotMobile.com slash Ben47. Or
- 5:14Speaker 4: call 972-PATRIOT. That's 972-PATRIOT. And if you use the promo
- 5:19Speaker 4: code Ben47, you're going to get a free month of service.
- 5:22Speaker 4: PatriotMobile.com slash Ben47 or 972-PATRIOT and make that patriotic switch today.
- 5:30Speaker 4: All right, I want you to hear what the president
- 5:31Speaker 4: had to say to Glenn Beck in his show earlier today.
- 5:35Speaker 6: He charged tariffs. They take advantage of us as though
- 5:39Speaker 6: they were a state, and they're not a state. And
- 5:42Speaker 6: they've taken our car industry, and they've taken our agriculture industry.
- 5:47Speaker 6: You know, the farmers can't sell anything in there because
- 5:50Speaker 6: the tariffs are so enormous, and yet they want to
- 5:53Speaker 6: sell in us without any cash. So I had a deal.
- 5:56Speaker 6: That was a pretty good deal, you know, quite good,
- 6:00Speaker 6: because they're afraid that I won't do anything. In other words,
- 6:03Speaker 6: we won't trade. They don't have anything that we have
- 6:05Speaker 6: to have. OK, we can get by. I mean, there
- 6:08Speaker 6: are a couple of things that would make it a
- 6:09Speaker 6: little inconvenient, but we could get them elsewhere. And it's
- 6:14Speaker 6: time to teach Canada you can't do this anymore.
- 6:17Speaker 4: The president yet again reiterating what he said in the
- 6:19Speaker 4: Oval Office. Canada has been ripping us off for far
- 6:22Speaker 4: too long on trade and they want to be treated
- 6:24Speaker 4: like a state. But they're not a state. We just
- 6:27Speaker 4: can't do that anymore. The president also signing that executive order,
- 6:32Speaker 4: renaming Lake Ontario as Lake America. And you could even
- 6:35Speaker 4: say it's psychological warfare. Canada, he's saying it's time for
- 6:39Speaker 4: you to understand you cannot take America for granted. The
- 6:44Speaker 4: president also said that over the past 15 years, the U.S.
- 6:47Speaker 4: has been losing an average of $ 60 billion a year
- 6:50Speaker 4: to Canada. We lose on average over the last 15
- 6:53Speaker 4: years $ 60 billion. And so we just can't do it anymore.
- 6:57Speaker 4: We love the people of Canada. I don't think their
- 6:59Speaker 4: representatives do an appropriate job. Maybe they'll change. I really
- 7:03Speaker 4: don't know. It doesn't make much difference, the president went
- 7:06Speaker 4: on to say. He also says he's been thinking about
- 7:08Speaker 4: the name change of Lake Ontario for a long time.
- 7:12Speaker 4: He said, so the lake change, the Lake of America,
- 7:14Speaker 4: was something I've been thinking about for a very long time.
- 7:18Speaker 4: As you know, we took something called the Gulf of Mexico.
- 7:20Speaker 4: We changed it, and now it's very routinely the Gulf
- 7:23Speaker 4: of America. If you think about it, we have a
- 7:26Speaker 4: gulf and we have a lake. Now all we need
- 7:28Speaker 4: is an ocean. So maybe we'll have to change the
- 7:30Speaker 4: name of the Atlantic and or the Pacific. And that,
- 7:33Speaker 4: by the way, was the line that made the left
- 7:35Speaker 4: and the media lose their minds altogether. The president smiling,
- 7:40Speaker 4: saying maybe we'll change both.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Next, story number two.
- 7:44Speaker 4: Now, there was also another major development today, and it
- 7:46Speaker 4: deals with the price of beef. Many of you have
- 7:50Speaker 4: been watching the prices go up as I have. I
- 7:52Speaker 4: even own a barbecue shop, and I can tell you
- 7:55Speaker 4: it is painful where the price of beef is right now.
- 7:58Speaker 4: And the president was asked about those beef prices. He
- 8:01Speaker 4: was talking to Glenn Beck. Glenn is also a rancher.
- 8:04Speaker 4: And if you know anybody in the ranching industry, they'll
- 8:06Speaker 4: tell you exactly this, or in the restaurant industry, that
- 8:10Speaker 4: there is a monopoly on beef in the United States
- 8:12Speaker 4: of America. There are three big packers, and they control
- 8:16Speaker 4: pricing in a way that is incredibly unfair. And so
- 8:19Speaker 4: Glenn Beck said this to the president, and it was
- 8:22Speaker 4: very interesting to see his reaction.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I have to tell you, Mr.
- 8:25Speaker 1: President, I didn't plan on talking about this and we
- 8:27Speaker 1: can get into it a later date. But please, please,
- 8:31Speaker 1: when it comes to beef, please look at the cartel
- 8:35Speaker 1: that is the meat processing cartel. I mean, that is
- 8:39Speaker 1: I run a ranch, so I know what it's like.
- 8:43Speaker 1: And I'm telling you, it is the processing plants. There's
- 8:46Speaker 1: four of them, and I think two of them are
- 8:48Speaker 1: not even American.
- 8:49Speaker 2: It's bad. And I believe they're colluding with each other.
- 8:52Speaker 6: I'm surprised that the ranchers and the farmers haven't done
- 8:54Speaker 6: it because they're smart as hell. I'm surprised because that's
- 8:57Speaker 6: been going on a long time, Glenn, long before I
- 9:00Speaker 6: got here.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Help us. Help us.
- 9:04Speaker 1: We can't butcher with all of the federal regulations. It
- 9:07Speaker 1: is really hard. If there's something you can do to help.
- 9:12Speaker 6: Glenn, is that just a question of regulation, do you think?
- 9:15Speaker 2: A lot of it is. Yeah, a lot of it is.
- 9:17Speaker 2: The inspections are insane.
- 9:19Speaker 6: So they make the regulations so tough that, so could
- 9:23Speaker 6: you do it, if you didn't have those regulations, could
- 9:26Speaker 6: you do it on your ranch?
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yes.
- 9:28Speaker 6: And is that the way to do it? Or do
- 9:30Speaker 6: you think you need some pretty strong regulations?
- 9:33Speaker 1: Break the back, break the back of those processing plants.
- 9:38Speaker 1: There's people that want to build processing plants everywhere. The
- 9:41Speaker 1: regulations are killing us. Just killing us.
- 9:44Speaker 6: So you're saying with less regulation, you think that the
- 9:48Speaker 6: ranchers and farmers would do a very good job of
- 9:51Speaker 6: processing the beef?
- 9:53Speaker 2: Yes. Wow. Yes.
- 9:55Speaker 6: I know.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I know.
- 9:56Speaker 6: I've been hearing about this problem for 20 years. I've
- 9:59Speaker 6: been hearing about this problem.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Free your people. Let our people go. Let your people go.
- 10:05Speaker 2: You know what?
- 10:05Speaker 6: This could be a very good call for ranchers and farmers. No,
- 10:08Speaker 6: for the country.
- 10:09Speaker 2: That would be good.
- 10:10Speaker 6: No, I've been hearing only bad about it's four places
- 10:14Speaker 6: and it's a monopoly.
- 10:16Speaker 2: It is. And this would break their back.
- 10:18Speaker 6: Who's controlling those regulations? Department of Agriculture?
- 10:22Speaker 2: Yes. And FDA. And the FDA. Or is it USDA?
- 10:27Speaker 1: I can't remember which one, but it's the federal regulator.
- 10:30Speaker 1: It's all the inspections. It's all the inspections.
- 10:33Speaker 4: You listen to Glenn Beck there, and these are the
- 10:36Speaker 4: conversations that are really important. The president, they're listening. This
- 10:40Speaker 4: sounds an awful lot like the same conversation the president
- 10:43Speaker 4: had With a waiter out in Las Vegas when the
- 10:46Speaker 4: idea of no tax on tips and no tax on
- 10:49Speaker 4: overtime became a big campaign slogan. And then after it
- 10:53Speaker 4: was a campaign slogan, it became law. The president listening
- 10:57Speaker 4: and then realizing there's a problem in the country with
- 11:00Speaker 4: beef prices. And as you heard him say, there's only
- 11:04Speaker 4: four processors. Some would say there's almost only three if
- 11:07Speaker 4: you look at the data. But it's very clear now
- 11:10Speaker 4: that the president of the United States of America is
- 11:12Speaker 4: taking a new look at what he can do to
- 11:14Speaker 4: help ranchers be able to get their beef to market
- 11:16Speaker 4: in a more easy way. And that could lower prices
- 11:20Speaker 4: significantly for every American consumer.
