- 0:00Speaker 1: All Star Toyota Presents Off the Bench. We have Jacob
- 0:03Speaker 1: Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Okay, here we go where the.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Plays get broken down, then science gets denied.
- 0:09Speaker 2: This I gotta come off the bitch.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Hour two of Off the Bench Live from the Mercedes
- 0:14Speaker 1: Benz Baton Rouge Studio starts now.
- 0:24Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in hour number two OTV.
- 0:27Speaker 4: Before we answer Flynn's question or holders people too, I
- 0:31Speaker 4: do want to make sure I close the book on
- 0:34Speaker 4: the schedule conversation that we had because LSU did come
- 0:38Speaker 4: in at number eleven. When you look at average opponent
- 0:41Speaker 4: win total seven point two. To round out the top
- 0:45Speaker 4: ten at number ten, Texas A and M at number nine,
- 0:48Speaker 4: South Carolina at number eight, the Joja Bulldogs at number seven,
- 0:52Speaker 4: the Florida Gators at number six, Alabama number five, Arkansas
- 0:57Speaker 4: Razorbacks four, Kentucky poor son of a gun, Mississippi State
- 1:01Speaker 4: at number three, Vanderbilt at number two, and the Oklahoma
- 1:06Speaker 4: Sooners at number one. It says here Oklahoma did not
- 1:10Speaker 4: get a warm welcome to the SEC with a tough
- 1:12Speaker 4: schedule last year, and it is a gauntlet again in
- 1:15Speaker 4: twenty twenty five. The Sooners must play Texas Ole, miss Alabama,
- 1:20Speaker 4: and LSU. They also played Missouri and South Carolina, two
- 1:23Speaker 4: programs that competed for a playoff spot in twenty twenty four.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Good luck, Brenton Vinables.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Yeah, show us some life this year.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Oklahoma, they have got a nice job of adding to
- 1:34Speaker 3: the roster.
- 1:36Speaker 2: But we talked about this last week.
- 1:38Speaker 5: I mean, you're an Oklahoma Sooners fan, you expect them
- 1:42Speaker 5: to be in the conversation at least of a conference
- 1:45Speaker 5: championship every year. No, I mean I did it there
- 1:48Speaker 5: early in the SEC, but at the bare minimum middle
- 1:52Speaker 5: of the pack, not bottom of the pack.
- 1:54Speaker 2: So show some life.
- 1:56Speaker 4: What did Mississippi State and Kentucky do to the league office?
- 2:01Speaker 4: They made somebody mad. Have y'all seen both those schedules? Man,
- 2:07Speaker 4: I know you've been doing it time my memory.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Give it to you, go ahead. I think they played
- 2:14Speaker 2: the Saints.
- 2:17Speaker 4: They do Mississippi State at Southern Miss. It's a choice,
- 2:24Speaker 4: Arizona State at home.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Wait there at Southern Miss at Southern Miss. That's ans
- 2:30Speaker 2: as bad as Oklahoma.
- 2:36Speaker 3: What are we doing? Well?
- 2:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it's not like two lane because two
- 2:42Speaker 4: lane is actually really good.
- 2:43Speaker 3: You know, going to tes. Maybe we went to the Superdome.
- 2:46Speaker 5: I mean, you would think that even Southern myths would
- 2:48Speaker 5: want to play there because usually when they go play,
- 2:50Speaker 5: they're getting paid.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Yeah, look at the gate.
- 2:52Speaker 4: But so at Southern Miss, Arizona State and at home,
- 2:55Speaker 4: who made the Coast Football Playoff last year, expected to
- 2:58Speaker 4: be really good with Sam Levit at quarterback, Alcorn State
- 3:01Speaker 4: at home, Northern Illinois at home, who beat Notre Dame
- 3:04Speaker 4: last year. You get Tennessee at home at Texas, A
- 3:08Speaker 4: and M at Florida, Texas at Arkansas, Georgia at Missouri,
- 3:14Speaker 4: and Ole Miss. So they play Arizona State playoff team,
- 3:19Speaker 4: Tennessee playoff team, Texas playoff team, Georgia playoff team at.
- 3:24Speaker 6: Least their home games.
- 3:26Speaker 7: Sure at Florida and at A and M. We were
- 3:29Speaker 7: just talking about that with LSU, Like you get to
- 3:31Speaker 7: avoid that.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Man, not them. Hey, you can look at it as
- 3:35Speaker 3: just a huge opportunity, you could.
- 3:37Speaker 5: It's our chance. It's our chance to be four playoff
- 3:40Speaker 5: teams last year. Boys, like a statement.
- 3:45Speaker 3: For Kentucky.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Who's also on that is Toledo at home, Old Miss
- 3:50Speaker 4: at home, Eastern Michigan at home at South Carolina at Georgia,
- 3:55Speaker 4: Texas Tennessee at Auburn, Florida, Tennessee Tech at Vanderbilt at Louisville.
- 4:03Speaker 3: I don't know if my boy mark that.
- 4:05Speaker 6: One feels tougher than the state one.
- 4:08Speaker 3: It's a lot of ats, it's a lot of ads.
- 4:12Speaker 4: And even the games you're at South Carolina, you're at Georgia,
- 4:16Speaker 4: you're at Auburn, you're at Vandy, you're at Louisville. Even
- 4:20Speaker 4: the home games it's Ole, Miss, Texas, Tennessee and Florida.
- 4:28Speaker 5: This is this is a if you look, let's just
- 4:31Speaker 5: say your stoops and you're going into the season. You're
- 4:35Speaker 5: the guys that you have on your team, They're not dumb.
- 4:37Speaker 5: They see the schedule. What is your messaging to the team.
- 4:42Speaker 5: Because most most coaches, no matter the circumstance. I mean,
- 4:46Speaker 5: we did it when we played for the Tennis Allen
- 4:48Speaker 5: was our coach for the Raiders. Like you still before
- 4:51Speaker 5: the season you talk super Bowl like this is our
- 4:53Speaker 5: goal was to win the championship, blah blah blah. And
- 4:56Speaker 5: that's what every coach I've ever been around, that's their
- 4:58Speaker 5: preseason goal. Like you come up from a program at
- 5:01Speaker 5: Misissippi State like Kentucky and then you look at the schedule,
- 5:05Speaker 5: your kids know what's happening, your kids know you've got
- 5:07Speaker 5: to go, and the difficulty. But so what is the
- 5:11Speaker 5: messaging do you avoid like big picture talk?
- 5:14Speaker 3: Do you just like take it is your is your clear.
- 5:18Speaker 5: Message that you're painting in front of all these kids
- 5:21Speaker 5: to believe in every single day, like be a pest,
- 5:25Speaker 5: be like take it week by week, because there's certainly
- 5:28Speaker 5: you have to avoid talking about like impossible things. Right,
- 5:32Speaker 5: not to say anything's impossible in sports, I get it,
- 5:35Speaker 5: but it sure certainly seems like it by looking at
- 5:37Speaker 5: the schedule. So what does that messaging look like If
- 5:41Speaker 5: you were the coach, I think I would keep it
- 5:43Speaker 5: real short term, yeah, and very very short term messaging.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Right, And Charles, we also know that it's the same
- 5:50Speaker 4: opponents from last year. So that's how the schedule laid
- 5:54Speaker 4: out the first two years, and they made a point
- 5:56Speaker 4: of emphasis to say this is how it's going to
- 5:57Speaker 4: be the first two years and then we'll change it up.
- 6:00Speaker 4: But here's a couple of things, Charles, that are different,
- 6:04Speaker 4: all right, location, because that flips, so that matters. And
- 6:08Speaker 4: also how good these teams are from what it looked
- 6:11Speaker 4: like a year ago. So last you know, last year,
- 6:15Speaker 4: when lu was playing Vanderbilt at the beginning of the season,
- 6:19Speaker 4: nobody thought that would be anything, or Florida for that matter,
- 6:23Speaker 4: and then it looked like Florida wasn't going to be
- 6:24Speaker 4: any good, and well they turned out they went on
- 6:26Speaker 4: a run, and Vanderbilt turns out they were pretty damn
- 6:29Speaker 4: good last year. So that's what's different about it this
- 6:32Speaker 4: year compared to last year. It might be the same opponents,
- 6:35Speaker 4: but those opponents look different. Tennessee makes a playoff run, right,
- 6:39Speaker 4: so that kind of changes the narrative of their program.
- 6:43Speaker 4: If you had at Auburn, well you might have thought
- 6:46Speaker 4: that was more difficult than it actually turned out to be.
- 6:49Speaker 4: So where you play them, where they're at in the
- 6:51Speaker 4: schedule too, that matters.
- 6:53Speaker 3: We keep saying it over.
- 6:54Speaker 4: And over again, and from our experience, that matters, Like
- 6:57Speaker 4: where these games are scheduled. So the fact that you've
- 7:00Speaker 4: got to play Florida now in the third game, that's
- 7:02Speaker 4: different than playing them in the back end of the season.
- 7:04Speaker 4: So the opponents might be the same, but the locations changed,
- 7:08Speaker 4: the teams themselves have changed, and also where they're placing
- 7:12Speaker 4: your schedule, like all of that matters whenever you're talking
- 7:14Speaker 4: about SEC football.
- 7:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, yes, you're you're playing and you could
- 7:21Speaker 5: say that like when we first brought a strength to
- 7:24Speaker 5: schedule like one through sixteen, Like, yeah, the strength to
- 7:26Speaker 5: schedule in the SEC.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I get it, but it's always going to be tough.
- 7:30Speaker 2: It's the SEC.
- 7:31Speaker 5: It's the best conference in the country for a reason
- 7:33Speaker 5: because nobody has an easy schedule. But it just you
- 7:37Speaker 5: have to look at when you rank these things. You
- 7:40Speaker 5: have to look at timing of the year, what they
- 7:43Speaker 5: did last year, the preseason coming up, and then home
- 7:46Speaker 5: in a way is the big thing. So I mean,
- 7:49Speaker 5: we all know it doesn't matter if you're playing a
- 7:51Speaker 5: bottom of the tier team in the SEC, middle of
- 7:54Speaker 5: the team, top tier. Being at home is a huge advantage,
- 7:59Speaker 5: you know. I think I think I think bookkeepers say
- 8:02Speaker 5: in college football that it's like three points. I believe
- 8:05Speaker 5: if you're the hometown, yeah, he get three points. So
- 8:06Speaker 5: if it's an even match or you're a home you'll
- 8:08Speaker 5: be minus three. Right, that's kind of a rough number.
- 8:10Speaker 5: I mean I would say it might be even minus four.
- 8:12Speaker 2: In the SEC.
- 8:13Speaker 5: Uh, it just makes that big of a difference. So yeah,
- 8:15Speaker 5: I mean it turns out like last year they got
- 8:17Speaker 5: a little bit of break. This year, you know, chickens
- 8:20Speaker 5: have come home.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Man, those two schedules right there, that is very tough.
- 8:25Speaker 2: What an opportunity, boys, what.
- 8:27Speaker 3: An opportunity to shock the world? Shocked the world. The
- 8:30Speaker 3: Lon's point.
- 8:30Speaker 4: At least Missipi State does have the backing of the
- 8:33Speaker 4: cow bells at home for some of those games. Kentucky, Oh,
- 8:36Speaker 4: you better bring some of that bourbon from home to
- 8:39Speaker 4: those road tips.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Because you might need it after the game.
- 8:42Speaker 5: I get a question about one of those teams that
- 8:43Speaker 5: they that has a tough schedule, So Vanderbilt. They I
- 8:47Speaker 5: was thinking about their quarterback Diogo Pavia and like the
- 8:50Speaker 5: success that he had last year, right and I was,
- 8:55Speaker 5: I was thinking about his success that he had.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Can you compare it to.
- 9:01Speaker 5: When teams are facing something they're not really expected, Like
- 9:05Speaker 5: somebody that plays a little off schedule at a certain
- 9:07Speaker 5: position plays a little bit different. The guy is a
- 9:11Speaker 5: great football player in a meathead, but he doesn't play
- 9:14Speaker 5: the quarterback like a normal traditional quarterback will play. Is
- 9:17Speaker 5: that something that one year later after teams have they're
- 9:22Speaker 5: not underestimating him, not underestimate Vanderbilt anymore because we all
- 9:26Speaker 5: have fallen into that trap for sure, years and years
- 9:29Speaker 5: and right going all the way back to bad body language, Jay, Yeah,
- 9:32Speaker 5: for and rightfully. So it is a team that could
- 9:36Speaker 5: be overlooked this year, it ain't gonna happen. So do
- 9:40Speaker 5: you say, I think the question can be made, does
- 9:44Speaker 5: Diego Pavia's success go down this year because last year
- 9:49Speaker 5: was a little bit about a little bit of the okay,
- 9:52Speaker 5: and I didn't have time to break for this.
- 9:54Speaker 4: And they had I don't want to say gimmicky because
- 9:56Speaker 4: I always find that. No, it's not innovative offense where
- 10:00Speaker 4: it was a little bit of the kiss method, but
- 10:02Speaker 4: they ran it so efficiently. Yep, and they did a
- 10:05Speaker 4: really nice job of keeping you guessing and you didn't
- 10:08Speaker 4: really know. Now that they have a full year of that,
- 10:11Speaker 4: sure are they going to be better prepared. So, not
- 10:13Speaker 4: even individually, but just schematically as well.
- 10:15Speaker 5: I mean and schematically this is not the same. I'm
- 10:17Speaker 5: just painting an example here, Like you face a triple
- 10:19Speaker 5: option team.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it's difficult the first time.
- 10:23Speaker 5: The next time it's a lot easier because you guys
- 10:25Speaker 5: have seen it, you know, as coaches, you know how
- 10:27Speaker 5: to prepare for it. So my thought is, and I'm
- 10:31Speaker 5: not saying I'm not giving like a prediction yet on this,
- 10:34Speaker 5: but I think the question could be made that Diga
- 10:36Speaker 5: Pavia could be less successful this year because people have
- 10:40Speaker 5: more time to prepare on a playing a quarterback that's
- 10:43Speaker 5: a little bit off schedule than most traditional quarterbacks.
- 10:46Speaker 3: You see, it's all right.
- 10:47Speaker 4: We have our double agent, Alandra villar Real on Diego
- 10:51Speaker 4: Pavia at all times.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 4: She made sure that he didn't play well in Tiger Stadium. Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:57Speaker 8: I saw him at an after party in Nashville up
- 11:00Speaker 8: to him, gave him a little talk, got in his
- 11:02Speaker 8: head a little bit, and he did terrible.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Nice what'd you say?
- 11:05Speaker 6: I was like, Hey, I was like, dude, take it
- 11:08Speaker 6: easy on us.
- 11:10Speaker 5: No, that's that's good, Like right all overtime, Yeah good.
- 11:14Speaker 6: The tight end.
- 11:16Speaker 8: Eli and the o lineman that was there too, Like,
- 11:20Speaker 8: they did not perform that.
- 11:23Speaker 3: A little.
- 11:24Speaker 2: They want to be champions. They got to cut the
- 11:26Speaker 2: partying out.
- 11:27Speaker 3: So you're party at all.
- 11:32Speaker 7: So your point about the Pavia thing, somebody I thought
- 11:35Speaker 7: of was Steven Garcia at South Carolina. So it was
- 11:39Speaker 7: actually his second year starting when they had the success.
- 11:41Speaker 7: They went like nine to three. I think the bowl
- 11:43Speaker 7: game got him like ten games. It was when they
- 11:44Speaker 7: went into Touscaloosa beat Alabama and all that, and I
- 11:47Speaker 7: was like, I remember that was twenty ten. I was like,
- 11:50Speaker 7: I remember the year after he wasn't good. He wasn't
- 11:52Speaker 7: good at all because South Carolina wasn't sneaking up on people.
- 11:55Speaker 7: In twenty eleven, he played in five games, four touchdowns,
- 11:58Speaker 7: nine picks, got benched. Interest, So like that that was
- 12:01Speaker 7: like the first guy I thought of. And so I mean,
- 12:03Speaker 7: to your point, he's sneaking up on anybody this year.
- 12:05Speaker 5: Yeah, And I don't want to like take any credit
- 12:08Speaker 5: away from him because I think he I love watching
- 12:10Speaker 5: him play like that is a guy that is fun
- 12:13Speaker 5: to watch play college football. I just think that the
- 12:16Speaker 5: question can certainly be brought up, and I think we'll
- 12:18Speaker 5: probably have some predictions about that later when we get
- 12:20Speaker 5: closer to college football season starting. But I think it's
- 12:23Speaker 5: something to look into a year more to prepare for them.
- 12:28Speaker 6: So I just looked it up.
- 12:30Speaker 8: The Cmas are a month after we play Vanderbilt, so
- 12:35Speaker 8: I might have to make a trip up there. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:40Speaker 8: or no, build him up like no, I got it, like,
- 12:42Speaker 8: just really put the charm on him. So I think
- 12:44Speaker 8: he was just probably thinking about me during the game
- 12:46Speaker 8: and he was like, dang, that girl had so much confidence.
- 12:48Speaker 6: In me that she asked me to take it easy
- 12:50Speaker 6: on her team.
- 12:51Speaker 2: I can fit that ball in that tight window. Pick b. Yeah,
- 12:55Speaker 2: tell him you get a Heisman vote and you're voting
- 12:56Speaker 2: for him.
- 12:57Speaker 6: Okay, that's a good idea.
- 12:59Speaker 3: I do have a Heisman vote.
- 13:01Speaker 6: You can just say I have two Heisman votes.
- 13:03Speaker 3: You can just hey, our show has a Heisman vote.
- 13:06Speaker 3: That way, I'm not lying.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Hold, I gotta do this radio thing before I get one,
- 13:11Speaker 2: like two.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Months, maybe maybe a little bit longer in that, maybe
- 13:17Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 13:19Speaker 6: He also is shorter than advertised.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I believe that because I think he's listed at six feet.
- 13:26Speaker 6: I had heels on that was taller than him.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a little fella shoddy stuff. Uh.
- 13:36Speaker 4: To your point though, about being prepared and the second
- 13:39Speaker 4: time you see somebody, if I'm an A and M fan,
- 13:44Speaker 4: I'm a little bit worried about Marcel Reid, hmm, because
- 13:47Speaker 4: I think once you get the book on him, now, look,
- 13:49Speaker 4: he crushed l Su. Lsu wasn't ready for it elshe
- 13:53Speaker 4: was getting after Texas A and M, and they had
- 13:56Speaker 4: a great game plan initially and then once he came
- 14:00Speaker 4: to the game, obviously they couldn't make that adjustment and
- 14:03Speaker 4: at them won the game.
- 14:05Speaker 3: But Marcel reads a quarterback.
- 14:06Speaker 4: He threw six interceptions last year, only fifteen touchdowns, sixty
- 14:13Speaker 4: percent completion percentage right around that, I can see him
- 14:17Speaker 4: going down as well.
- 14:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I can't too. I mean, he's he's gonna be
- 14:22Speaker 5: He's gonna be one of those guys that you would
- 14:23Speaker 5: you would think he's gonna have some games, some really
- 14:26Speaker 5: good games, but the odds are I think his defenses
- 14:30Speaker 5: will figure out how to stop and now he's gonna
- 14:32Speaker 5: pop off and make us plays like he's gonna make it.
- 14:34Speaker 3: He'll make sense.
- 14:35Speaker 2: He's gonna make his plays.
- 14:36Speaker 5: But to consistently do it throughout the duration of entire game,
- 14:39Speaker 5: let alone a duration of entire season, uh, is gonna
- 14:43Speaker 5: be a challenge.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Now, Like we also want to.
- 14:46Speaker 5: Like also emphasize that there's a long offseason and these
- 14:50Speaker 5: kids are so young and they're growing, Like these kids
- 14:52Speaker 5: can make huge improvements that behind closed doors that nobody sees,
- 14:56Speaker 5: and and and things happen like look at look at
- 14:59Speaker 5: Jayden from your one year too, look at Joe Burrow
- 15:01Speaker 5: from when you're one year two. There's huge improvements. The
- 15:04Speaker 5: foundation was there, like you knew they could do it,
- 15:07Speaker 5: you knew they were great. Kind of like Marcel a
- 15:09Speaker 5: little bit, like you knew you've seen him play well.
- 15:11Speaker 5: Does he have the skill set and the ability to
- 15:14Speaker 5: make different jumps?
- 15:16Speaker 3: I don't know. We will see, but I agree with
- 15:17Speaker 3: you on that.
- 15:18Speaker 5: I think that there is a there's a chance there
- 15:21Speaker 5: that defenses can figure figure it out.
- 15:25Speaker 3: All right when we come back, are you gonna tell
- 15:27Speaker 3: us yearholders are real people too? Yeah? We got weekend
- 15:32Speaker 3: winners coming up at thirty.
- 15:34Speaker 5: I mean people want to know. So that's a big too.
- 15:36Speaker 5: We just keep teasing it. I mean, can we stacking
- 15:38Speaker 5: them up?
- 15:39Speaker 3: Can we? Did you do it in the NFL?
- 15:42Speaker 2: I did it one year?
- 15:43Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 15:44Speaker 2: I was holder one year.
- 15:46Speaker 4: Tony Romo low Ki screwed that up for every quarterback.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Like on, we'll make fun of Tony Romo, We'll make
- 15:55Speaker 4: fun of cowboys. We'll tell you why holders are real people.
- 15:58Speaker 4: We will not do that when it's Tony Romo and
- 16:01Speaker 4: he's in a playoff game and he screws it for
- 16:03Speaker 4: the cowboys. Sorry, Tay, Let's relive that weekend winners a
- 16:07Speaker 4: day thirty stay with us, predict that off the bench.
- 16:12Speaker 3: No, I don't know.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Joe is coming back there pretty fast. Speaking of fast,
- 16:20Speaker 4: Highlanders go fast. Don't know how to do that, don't know.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Good all Star toy at baton Rouge dot com. You
- 16:25Speaker 4: can't see it all you can buy new, of course,

- 17:39Speaker 2: I want a girl with the right all locations, who
- 17:42Speaker 2: is fast and thorough and sharp, has attacked.
- 17:46Speaker 8: She's playing with her jewelry.
- 17:48Speaker 1: From players to legends. Hester and Flynn breakdown LSU football
- 17:52Speaker 1: like only champions can.
- 17:55Speaker 2: I wanna girl with a short skirt and long.
- 18:01Speaker 8: Jacket.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I want a.
- 18:14Speaker 8: Girl who gets up earlier.
- 18:17Speaker 3: I want a girl who stays up late.
- 18:20Speaker 4: All right, welcome back in OTV Matt Flynn before he
- 18:24Speaker 4: say to bed, this is ready.
- 18:25Speaker 3: This is a good song for no id love audio.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Actually, just so we reallyive the entire moment. Here is
- 18:33Speaker 4: the moment where people like myself Matt Flynn could not
- 18:39Speaker 4: continue being holders in the NFL because of this one person.
- 18:44Speaker 4: In this one moment, he totally ruined it for the
- 18:47Speaker 4: rest of us.
- 18:50Speaker 3: This stumble.
- 18:54Speaker 9: He's gonna get tackled by Jordan Babino. Amazing, unbelievable.
- 19:11Speaker 3: You go crazy? Is this? I mean that was even
- 19:18Speaker 3: closer than fall. Just be faster. Watch it right here?
- 19:24Speaker 4: Oh oh, my God, and then he still had a
- 19:27Speaker 4: chance if he talks it right there and runs. And
- 19:30Speaker 4: if you're obviously listening on the radio, it is the
- 19:33Speaker 4: Cowboys versus the Seahawks in the postseason chip shot field goal,
- 19:38Speaker 4: the Cowboys, perfect snap, the Cowboys are down to going
- 19:44Speaker 4: to take the lead, gonna be up by one with
- 19:46Speaker 4: about a minute left. Romo totally fumbles it. And from
- 19:50Speaker 4: this moment on, special team coordinators would no longer allow
- 19:56Speaker 4: quarterbacks or any other position player to be whole because
- 20:01Speaker 4: they felt like, Okay, if I put my punter in
- 20:04Speaker 4: that situation, he's not as good of an athlete, but
- 20:08Speaker 4: all practice long, all day long, he can catch one hundred,
- 20:11Speaker 4: two hundred snaps and he's gonna be ready for every moment.
- 20:15Speaker 4: This completely took a position away from some people and
- 20:19Speaker 4: gave it to punters.
- 20:21Speaker 5: You know what, if Romo is just a little bit faster,
- 20:24Speaker 5: or if the kicker would have just got a little
- 20:26Speaker 5: piece of twenty seven right there, he.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Almost picked up the first down. He almost do because
- 20:31Speaker 3: you could get a first down on that play too.
- 20:32Speaker 5: But yeah, so I held one year in Green Bay.
- 20:37Speaker 5: But just like you said, it's usually the punter because
- 20:39Speaker 5: they have all day, Like all all they do is
- 20:42Speaker 5: you know, kick balls obviously, so they have a lot
- 20:45Speaker 5: of downtime. So yeah, they get a lot of time
- 20:48Speaker 5: to practice. So if any they might not be a
- 20:51Speaker 5: better holder than a quarterback, but they got time to
- 20:55Speaker 5: get that chemistry. So I was a holder one year
- 20:57Speaker 5: in Green Bay with Mason Crosby kicking, and you know,
- 21:01Speaker 5: only got probably like ten or fifteen holds with him
- 21:04Speaker 5: a week in practice, like in actual like practice live situations,
- 21:10Speaker 5: like I would practice some like they'd send me over
- 21:12Speaker 5: there for like a five minute special teams individual period,
- 21:15Speaker 5: but like my quarterback coach is like, now I need
- 21:16Speaker 5: him here doing quarterback drill. So if it's a ten
- 21:20Speaker 5: minute individual, I'll send him over there for two minutes.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Get a few holes in.
- 21:25Speaker 5: But that Mason didn't have a great year that year
- 21:27Speaker 5: and or at the time, so it was kind of
- 21:30Speaker 5: like caught a lot of the flat but it was
- 21:32Speaker 5: because of that chemistry. I mean it's like, dang, you know,
- 21:35Speaker 5: you caught a stray. No I'm not gonna say it's
- 21:37Speaker 5: a stray. We just didn't get to work on it
- 21:39Speaker 5: as much. So I mean I get it if you're
- 21:41Speaker 5: not comfortable like if I if I had to take
- 21:43Speaker 5: a snap.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Man, if you're telling us how bad Flynn was, if.
- 21:46Speaker 5: I didn't take a snap from like a center at quarter,
- 21:49Speaker 5: Like if I'm playing quarterback taking just an undercenter snap
- 21:51Speaker 5: from a guy that only get to take ten snaps
- 21:54Speaker 5: from a week, I wouldn't feel very comfortable either. I'd
- 21:56Speaker 5: be thinking about the snap more than anything. So I'm
- 21:59Speaker 5: sure the kickers thinking about the hold. But there's a
- 22:03Speaker 5: lot of Like I've taken it from Hester for years
- 22:07Speaker 5: and it's really pissed me off a lot. He has
- 22:10Speaker 5: told me for years that placeholders are not real.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Okay, y'all, y'all, so we did research and blame Bash
- 22:21Speaker 4: who was a holder for the three team actually like
- 22:24Speaker 4: he was a part of this as well. The extra
- 22:28Speaker 4: point field goal doesn't count as an actual play towards lettering.
- 22:34Speaker 4: There was like an n C double a is like
- 22:36Speaker 4: a bilall.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Like, that's absolutely not true.
- 22:40Speaker 3: I'll pull up the actual rule.
- 22:41Speaker 5: No, no, no, no, it wasn't that it was. It doesn't
- 22:44Speaker 5: count as a statistic. I think some sort of stat
- 22:47Speaker 5: But because because I was a four year letterman holding.
- 22:52Speaker 4: I think Flynn is fraudulent and saying that he is
- 22:56Speaker 4: a letterman for four years.
- 23:00Speaker 7: See let's see what the official lasuy website so.
- 23:03Speaker 8: Like violent typing, so bad, So it doesn't count towards.
- 23:16Speaker 2: So if you're a holder, listen, if you're a holder,
- 23:19Speaker 2: let me say this.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Hold on, I remember now, if you're a holder, it
- 23:24Speaker 4: you don't like you know, like somebody charts the plays
- 23:26Speaker 4: that everybody plays, Like if I was on kickoff check,
- 23:29Speaker 4: if I was running back check, full back check, extra
- 23:32Speaker 4: point field goal, the holder does not count as a
- 23:36Speaker 4: play credited to you.
- 23:38Speaker 3: We found that stat out.
- 23:41Speaker 4: So if you didn't get here's a play, did you,
- 23:45Speaker 4: letter it's kind.
- 23:46Speaker 5: Of like you can take that for any position. So
- 23:48Speaker 5: you can look at offensive line, like, there's not a
- 23:51Speaker 5: stat for good block. There's only stats for bad stuff.
- 23:54Speaker 5: Right offensive on, you get a pancake every now and then. Uh,
- 23:58Speaker 5: for a quarterback, you make a great handoff for a
- 24:00Speaker 5: great check, there's no stat for hey, great check right there?
- 24:02Speaker 2: Oh nice handoff, dude.
- 24:04Speaker 5: No, So when you start for four years with one
- 24:08Speaker 5: hundred percent amazing holds, yeah, there's no stat because there's
- 24:11Speaker 5: no stat for great hold.
- 24:13Speaker 2: But I did it four years boom for your letterman.
- 24:19Speaker 2: And then guess what.
- 24:20Speaker 5: In the NFL, I was a holder for one year,
- 24:22Speaker 5: and at that time you got like the player performance
- 24:25Speaker 5: bonus for every snap. So if in the NFL, I
- 24:28Speaker 5: don't know if it's still the same with a new
- 24:29Speaker 5: collective bargain or whatever, but I'm assuming it there's a
- 24:32Speaker 5: concept of this still in play, which is the less
- 24:36Speaker 5: money you got. So guys that were under a league minimum,
- 24:40Speaker 5: they tried to like even it out a little bit.
- 24:42Speaker 5: I'm giving you a player performance bonus. Yeah, so based
- 24:45Speaker 5: on like some formulation, depend on the money you were
- 24:47Speaker 5: making per play, you would get certain amount of dollars.
- 24:51Speaker 3: So like most people.
- 24:52Speaker 5: On minimum, like a rookie minimum contract or like a
- 24:55Speaker 5: second third year player, they might get three or four
- 24:57Speaker 5: hundred dollars for every play that they run.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Right, that's changed in the new CBA. I think actually
- 25:03Speaker 4: the CBA that we were a part of the last
- 25:05Speaker 4: big change in twelve, I think that changed, gotcha.
- 25:09Speaker 5: But at the time, like the guys are making a
- 25:12Speaker 5: lot of money would get like fifty cents a play
- 25:14Speaker 5: or whatever it was like, so they tried to like
- 25:16Speaker 5: reward people that stepped in and played a lot. And
- 25:19Speaker 5: so when I was holding, I was like, I was
- 25:21Speaker 5: like a second year guy. I was like, yeah, let's
- 25:23Speaker 5: kick a lot of field goals and extra points and
- 25:25Speaker 5: we were good on offense too.
- 25:26Speaker 3: Yeah. My I will never forget.
- 25:30Speaker 4: So my rookie year, I mean I was I was
- 25:33Speaker 4: a third round pick, so I was a league minimum.
- 25:36Speaker 4: But I ended up starting and playing a ton that year,
- 25:39Speaker 4: and I didn't I did not know that there was a.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Player of performing. I had no idea. I didn't know.
- 25:45Speaker 4: I'll never forget this. I was at Perkins Row. It's
- 25:49Speaker 4: when they had z gallery right there. Katie was in
- 25:51Speaker 4: there picking out a cow. My agent calls me and
- 25:54Speaker 4: I'm like, hey, it's the all season who knows. Hopefully
- 25:57Speaker 4: I'm not getting cut. Let's go see what they got
- 25:59Speaker 4: to say. So I'm almost fun amazing. He say, hey,
- 26:02Speaker 4: you you get that check yet. I was like check
- 26:03Speaker 4: for what? It's a player performance. I'm like, like, Jim,
- 26:07Speaker 4: what's the player perfessor?
- 26:08Speaker 2: Know that?
- 26:08Speaker 4: He's like, uh, it's based off your contract and how
- 26:12Speaker 4: many plays you plays, Like you haven't seen the number
- 26:14Speaker 4: you're getting. I was like no, He goes, let me
- 26:18Speaker 4: send it to you. I should say, I'll never forget
- 26:21Speaker 4: where I was the situation.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Well, it's the sing of everything.
- 26:26Speaker 4: Oh my got the surprise and then I was like,
- 26:28Speaker 4: I'm getting what he's like, Yeah, you didn't know.
- 26:31Speaker 3: It was like I had no idea. He goes, well,
- 26:32Speaker 3: I guess I'm not very good at my job. I
- 26:34Speaker 3: was like, yeah, you're not. You probably told me. I
- 26:36Speaker 3: probably just didn't listen, like, well you're fired. Yeah, they
- 26:38Speaker 3: got rid of that, or they got rid of that.
- 26:42Speaker 3: It's no longer a thing.
- 26:45Speaker 5: They that's kind of a shame. I don't know why
- 26:46Speaker 5: it wouldn't be a thing, but I guess they've raised,
- 26:48Speaker 5: like the minimum so much.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Have you seen those league minimums?
- 26:54Speaker 3: The league minimum when we came it was two eighty
- 26:56Speaker 3: five or.
- 26:59Speaker 4: I think it's up to seven hundred thousand dollars league
- 27:02Speaker 4: minimum right.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Now for that's rookie minimum.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Yeah, VET minimums over a million now. VET minimum by
- 27:08Speaker 4: the time you get vested was there was a like
- 27:12Speaker 4: eight hundred something like that some somewhere around them. But
- 27:17Speaker 4: again there was guys like rookies, undrafted free agent guys
- 27:21Speaker 4: that made the team. And two hundred ninety five thousand
- 27:25Speaker 4: dollars is a lot of money. It's a lot of money.
- 27:27Speaker 4: Do not get me wrong, but after you pay California taxes,
- 27:31Speaker 4: league dues because you got paid the NFLPA to be
- 27:33Speaker 4: a part of it.
- 27:35Speaker 3: There was there was guys.
- 27:38Speaker 4: There was like three guys that would room together that
- 27:40Speaker 4: were undrafted free agents or six seventh round picks. They
- 27:43Speaker 4: would all room together to be able to like you know,
- 27:46Speaker 4: afford a nice place in can Dia.
- 27:48Speaker 5: And especially playing like your position too. And that's why
- 27:52Speaker 5: this should change, like the finding rule, because you're you're
- 27:55Speaker 5: expecting at least a couple of five, ten, fifteen thousand
- 27:57Speaker 5: dollars fines like throughout a year because of some sort
- 28:00Speaker 5: of chop block or something that's not malicious. It just
- 28:05Speaker 5: happens in the over the course. Like there's people that
- 28:09Speaker 5: get fined all season long that a penalty wasn't called,
- 28:14Speaker 5: so like you would never know that this guy would
- 28:15Speaker 5: get fined because something happened on the back side of
- 28:17Speaker 5: a play that was missed, like nobody caught.
- 28:19Speaker 2: But the NFL sees it. They see everything.
- 28:22Speaker 4: I got one against It was against y'all when you
- 28:25Speaker 4: were in Seattle to try cheap shot my boys. I
- 28:29Speaker 4: got it was hands to the face against y'all's middle linebacker.
- 28:33Speaker 4: Didn't get called in the game. I didn't remember it
- 28:35Speaker 4: at all, and I got like a five thousand dollars fine.
- 28:37Speaker 3: I'm like, what the hell?
- 28:38Speaker 4: Like I didn't get a penalty this week, and they're like, oh,
- 28:41Speaker 4: your hand went up to the face mask of the linebacker.
- 28:43Speaker 4: They didn't catch it, but we saw it as we
- 28:44Speaker 4: reviewed tape. I'm like, hell, kind of nark or y'all
- 28:48Speaker 4: going back and watching tape. Something didn't get called in
- 28:50Speaker 4: a game and you're finding somebody five grand what are
- 28:54Speaker 4: we doing here?
- 28:54Speaker 3: And then they wouldn't reduce it.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Like a lot of times you can get it reduced,
- 28:58Speaker 4: like twenty five hundred, they wouldn't reduce it, would not reduce.
- 29:01Speaker 3: Come on, I got so I got foued twice.
- 29:03Speaker 4: That was one, and that threw a ball like into
- 29:05Speaker 4: the second deck worth it against the Raiders one year.
- 29:08Speaker 4: That got reduced because Teddy Cantrell, who was in charge
- 29:11Speaker 4: of the fines, was our former defensive coordinator in San Diego.
- 29:14Speaker 3: My Teddy, look, I got real excited.
- 29:16Speaker 4: I had my church buddies, they were sitting up there
- 29:18Speaker 4: in the second deck. I told him, if I scored
- 29:20Speaker 4: in this end zone, I was gonna throw it up
- 29:21Speaker 4: there to them. He's like, Okay, I'll give you a break.
- 29:25Speaker 3: I got it. I get but in half I gotta.
- 29:28Speaker 5: Find ones for what unnecessary roughness? No big deal you
- 29:33Speaker 5: did for a quarterback to get that. Like I was,
- 29:38Speaker 5: I was so pumped. I wasn't like I wasn't like
- 29:40Speaker 5: crazy excited about the circumstance. Because it was Week seventeen
- 29:43Speaker 5: in two thousand and nine. We're playing in Arizona, last
- 29:46Speaker 5: game of the season, We're already guaranteed to make the playoffs.
- 29:49Speaker 5: It was just kind of like a seeding situation at
- 29:51Speaker 5: that time, or we're blowing them out or beating them
- 29:53Speaker 5: at like thirty. So I get I get in the
- 29:55Speaker 5: game at the end and we're running down the field.
- 29:57Speaker 5: We're gonna run our offense. Let's get you some resps. Well, yeah,
- 29:59Speaker 5: we run it to the red zone and I throw something.
- 30:02Speaker 5: I throw a pick and the guy catches it. And uh,
- 30:06Speaker 5: guy from the Cardinals, I can't remember who it was.
- 30:08Speaker 5: I know Early do Set was on that team, but
- 30:10Speaker 5: he wasn't playing either.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Patrick Peterson.
- 30:12Speaker 5: He was running down the sideline and so he had
- 30:14Speaker 5: a convoy And I was like, that referee you were
- 30:17Speaker 5: talking about in the law tech. Like, I was like,
- 30:18Speaker 5: all right, this is it. I put my head down,
- 30:21Speaker 5: started pumping the arms. I was probably running like four
- 30:23Speaker 5: to three. This time I was killed. So I beat
- 30:25Speaker 5: the convoy down. And so they're going into score and
- 30:28Speaker 5: it's a guy running it and he's got like three
- 30:30Speaker 5: guys in.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Front of him, and it's just me.
- 30:32Speaker 5: Yeah, and I'm like, well, I got some life decisions
- 30:36Speaker 5: to make, right here?
- 30:37Speaker 2: Do I just do?
- 30:38Speaker 5: I do the thing where quarterbacks look wimpy, and I
- 30:40Speaker 5: just kind of like shake my arms and do this.
- 30:43Speaker 5: I can't tackle the guy because I don't have the
- 30:46Speaker 5: skill set to shed three blockers at full speed down
- 30:49Speaker 5: the sideline. So I'm like, all right, let's let's just
- 30:54Speaker 5: do the bowling bowling alley situation. Let me go and
- 30:57Speaker 5: just cut the hell out of the lead guy. And
- 30:59Speaker 5: so in my mind, like it looked sweet probably, but
- 31:02Speaker 5: like I probably just like crumpled at his feet or something.
- 31:04Speaker 5: But I cut him at his knees and the guy
- 31:07Speaker 5: has to stop, and he has to he has to
- 31:09Speaker 5: cut back up the field, which allowed my other guys
- 31:12Speaker 5: to catch up and tackle him.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Great play by me.
- 31:14Speaker 5: I feel like, yeah, got a fine, got a penalty
- 31:17Speaker 5: and a fine five.
- 31:19Speaker 2: It was five. I got to reduce a twenty five.
- 31:20Speaker 5: Yeah, but I probably still have that piece of paper.
- 31:25Speaker 5: He says, you got fined week seventeen by unnecessary roughness.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:29Speaker 4: My wife was not very happy about to find that
- 31:31Speaker 4: I got. Hey, dummy, don't throw the ball into the stands.
- 31:35Speaker 4: I got one fifteen yard penalty in college and it
- 31:37Speaker 4: was because of a flint interception as well. We won't
- 31:40Speaker 4: tell that story, but we will take a break more
- 31:43Speaker 4: OTB with some weekend winters when we come.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Back off the bench.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Right on me on the bus man.
- 31:51Speaker 3: You threw a pick and I got a fifteen yard penalty?

- 33:45Speaker 4: our parents.
- 33:47Speaker 3: And they're like, oh, would I get today at the mall.
- 33:50Speaker 4: Grandma told him, oh, really put it in the cassette tabe.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Let's hear it.
- 33:58Speaker 4: I got more trouble for this one than my brother
- 34:00Speaker 4: that did for Busta Rhymes, which doesn't feel right.
- 34:02Speaker 3: Well, this one attacks yourself, confide, Yeah, that's what that was.
- 34:05Speaker 3: What we can deal with the cursing. We can tell you.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you know it's adult like at the time.
- 34:09Speaker 4: I didn't understand though, but yeah, that was my parental's
- 34:13Speaker 4: message as well.
- 34:14Speaker 2: Yeah. I think as a parent I don't like this song.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Either, but as an adult I love it. It's a
- 34:19Speaker 4: great song. Let's get to some weekend winners.
- 34:25Speaker 2: That's how win it has done.
- 34:27Speaker 3: That's right. We can't have anyone to freak out out there. Okay,
- 34:31Speaker 3: he's got a key bark and Polser got too far.
- 34:34Speaker 3: I'm by winning.
- 34:36Speaker 2: I went here and I win there.
- 34:38Speaker 4: Now one, are you doing what it takes to win
- 34:41Speaker 4: a championship?
- 34:43Speaker 8: Wow?
- 34:43Speaker 2: Winning? Well, then I guess there's only one thing left
- 34:46Speaker 2: to do.
- 34:48Speaker 3: What's that win the whole thing? All right?
- 34:56Speaker 4: My first weekend Winter is going to actually be a
- 35:00Speaker 4: tournament that I thought was going to be really bad.
- 35:02Speaker 4: It turned out it has been pretty exciting. And that
- 35:05Speaker 4: is the CONKA CAF Gold Cup. Just this weekend you
- 35:09Speaker 4: had Panama and Honduras that went to penalty kicks. Honduras
- 35:14Speaker 4: got the victory over Panama, all right, and so then
- 35:17Speaker 4: that was on Saturday. And then on Sunday you had
- 35:21Speaker 4: Guatemala takedown Canada.
- 35:23Speaker 3: So that is a big upset also in PKS.
- 35:26Speaker 4: Now, Guatemala is one hundred and six in the FIFA rankings,
- 35:30Speaker 4: Canada is thirtieth, so a massive upset there. And then
- 35:34Speaker 4: the United States went to PKS with Costa Rica and
- 35:37Speaker 4: they win in PKS and so they advance to take
- 35:42Speaker 4: on Guatemala in the semi final. It's going to be
- 35:45Speaker 4: Honduras in Mexico in the other semi final, and then
- 35:50Speaker 4: let's go Mexico beat Saudi Arabia to No, we will
- 35:55Speaker 4: not be cheering for Mexico.
- 35:57Speaker 3: That is, yes, we are. That's fine. I don't care
- 36:00Speaker 3: about that.
- 36:01Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, Mexico US finals are great, but yeah,
- 36:05Speaker 4: once it becomes final time, I'm going for the US
- 36:07Speaker 4: of Bay.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Are we cheering for Mexico.
- 36:09Speaker 4: I mean, I'm not gonna cheer either way, but like
- 36:11Speaker 4: if they win, sure, because I mean food comes from
- 36:16Speaker 4: cocked for conchic calf Usa Mexico is certainly. I don't
- 36:21Speaker 4: think anybody wants to tune into Guatemala versus Hondors.
- 36:25Speaker 6: No, just yeah, probably not a couple.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Of good squads though, a couple of good good We'll.
- 36:29Speaker 6: Just spect to Mario.
- 36:33Speaker 3: Yeah he is. Yeah, and they've never made a World Cup.
- 36:38Speaker 8: Ka.
- 36:38Speaker 5: Uh, we can win it for me. Louisiana Sports Hall
- 36:41Speaker 5: of Fame. They're induction ceream with this past year. Of course,
- 36:44Speaker 5: everyone's seeing the clips everything. I'm gonna go through the
- 36:47Speaker 5: list of inductees right now. Just give everybody a little
- 36:49Speaker 5: shout out.
- 36:50Speaker 4: Uh.
- 36:50Speaker 5: We got Vicky Johnson. We got Joe Schureman. I don't
- 36:54Speaker 5: know if I'm saying that right, Shureman, anybody. We got
- 36:56Speaker 5: Herb Vincent.
- 36:58Speaker 8: He is the way that I found out that we
- 37:02Speaker 8: had bombed Iran, all right, her.
- 37:06Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 37:06Speaker 6: I was sitting next to him in the press box. Yeah,
- 37:09Speaker 6: and he was like, hey, we just bombed Iran. I
- 37:11Speaker 6: was like, couldn't they have waited?
- 37:12Speaker 3: I mean HERB was an SID for a long time.
- 37:14Speaker 5: Shout out her, like the American Political War News love it.
- 37:20Speaker 5: Glenn Gilbot at Daniel's Danny Granger, Danny Bruce, Bobby slou uh.
- 37:27Speaker 5: And then we have uh kind of notables for me
- 37:30Speaker 5: at least going through the list.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Dal Winer long term coaching.
- 37:33Speaker 5: Catholic high UH, three time Louisiana State Coach of the Year,
- 37:38Speaker 5: twenty fifteen state champ and weightlifting eighteen state titles UH
- 37:43Speaker 5: in weightlifted all right, and as a member of the
- 37:46Speaker 5: Gail Hatches Louisiana Weightlifted Hall of Fame.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Oh Gail Hatch.
- 37:51Speaker 5: Then we got a April Berkholder who was a gymnastics
- 37:56Speaker 5: She was there when we were in school. She was incredible,
- 37:58Speaker 5: fourteen time All American one hundred and eight individual titles.
- 38:01Speaker 3: She was back in the day electric. She was incredible.
- 38:04Speaker 3: Like so, she was one of.
- 38:05Speaker 5: Those foundational blocks that helped LSU gymnasty get to where
- 38:10Speaker 5: they were. Dede Bro coaching her butt off, but April
- 38:13Speaker 5: shout out to her.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Then of course we have Andrew Whitworth getting inducted.
- 38:16Speaker 5: I don't need to go through the list there all
- 38:18Speaker 5: the time, great Walter Paige Man of the Year, longtime
- 38:20Speaker 5: LSU with all all the stuff. And then of course
- 38:23Speaker 5: Nick Saban, I mean, what a winner for Louisiana Hall
- 38:27Speaker 5: of Fame, getting Nick Saban doing the doing the right thing,
- 38:29Speaker 5: inducting him to the Hall of Fame, and uh, Taylor.
- 38:33Speaker 2: You got the clip. We're good.
- 38:34Speaker 5: I have a clip, have a club. We mean, there
- 38:36Speaker 5: were so many good clips. What he says, Man, he's
- 38:38Speaker 5: such a good speaker, and it was awesome for him
- 38:40Speaker 5: to be able to recognize l s U and Louisiana
- 38:44Speaker 5: be able to recognize him.
- 38:45Speaker 10: Be really proud every time I see LSU all the
- 38:48Speaker 10: time I coach at Alabama.
- 38:49Speaker 3: I know it was a great rivalry, but.
- 38:51Speaker 10: I was always proud because I felt like we did
- 38:54Speaker 10: something to raise the bar here and the program has
- 38:57Speaker 10: been outstanding ever since.
- 39:00Speaker 4: But that's why he's the best of defensive head coach
- 39:01Speaker 4: mix saite that everybody could.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Wife when I coach.
- 39:04Speaker 5: Yeah, if you could get a chance go back, maybe
- 39:07Speaker 5: we could post it. Get a chance go back. And
- 39:08Speaker 5: listen to a lot of his answers, He talks about
- 39:12Speaker 5: when he first got to LSU and the first championship
- 39:15Speaker 5: they won SEC Championship, I believe in no one. He
- 39:18Speaker 5: said that was his first championship as a coach as well,
- 39:21Speaker 5: and how that sets the bar for not only him,
- 39:24Speaker 5: but for a program, for an expectation. Then every time
- 39:27Speaker 5: you do that, it changes the horizon of what you
- 39:29Speaker 5: look to.
- 39:30Speaker 2: And of course three.
- 39:31Speaker 5: National championship that changed it again for him personally and
- 39:34Speaker 5: for the program.
- 39:35Speaker 2: And he's proud of that, proud.
- 39:36Speaker 5: Of the moments, and we certainly are thankful we can
- 39:39Speaker 5: look back on it now of course host.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Alabama, Uh yeah, I mean and look back on it.
- 39:44Speaker 5: We are so lucky it and fortunately happened that he
- 39:46Speaker 5: did change those expectations to the LSU.
- 39:50Speaker 4: We know him and also like I understand it, I
- 39:53Speaker 4: understand who was the coach of and the success they
- 39:55Speaker 4: had there. He won six titles at ALBA. I get
- 39:56Speaker 4: all that, but also he changed my life. He changed
- 40:01Speaker 4: Fund's life. He gave us an opportunity to come to
- 40:03Speaker 4: l s U and I know for me personally. And
- 40:06Speaker 4: we heard your recruiting story. Thanks to Derrek Dooley and
- 40:09Speaker 4: your fat ankles, you almost didn't end up here, So
- 40:11Speaker 4: shout out to Jimbo forgetting you here. But coach Saban,
- 40:15Speaker 4: like I never talked to Derek Dooley one time in recruiting.
- 40:18Speaker 4: He was a running back coach, not one time coach Saban.
- 40:20Speaker 4: I was kind of like his you know, kind of
- 40:23Speaker 4: like a project, being a two star guy, and he
- 40:26Speaker 4: found me at a practice and brought me to l
- 40:28Speaker 4: s U changed my life. And so yeah, I'm gonna
- 40:30Speaker 4: forever be grateful for coach Nick Saban.
- 40:32Speaker 5: Do you think that Saban may have like a wager
- 40:34Speaker 5: with one of the assistant coaches, like I bet I.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Can take this guy and make him good.
- 40:38Speaker 3: He had to.
- 40:39Speaker 2: It was like she saw that situation.
- 40:41Speaker 4: You see that noseguard that's running the football in this
- 40:43Speaker 4: Oklahoma drill.
- 40:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna make him and all SEC running backs.
- 40:47Speaker 5: He definitely said, was it that she's all that where
- 40:48Speaker 5: Freddy Prince Junior turns the Yeah, yeah, I have my
- 40:53Speaker 5: glasses on, got your glasses on.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I took my glasses off, let my hair down a
- 40:57Speaker 3: little bit. Changed.
- 40:58Speaker 2: It reminds me of a not another team yeah with
- 41:01Speaker 2: Reggie Ray.
- 41:02Speaker 4: Yeah, well I got as many concussions left as Reggie Ray.
- 41:07Speaker 4: One I got one left.
- 41:10Speaker 3: I got one left a Landra weekend.
- 41:13Speaker 6: Winter week and winner for me is Iliot Taporia. So
- 41:17Speaker 6: we can lose our otv's bet.
- 41:19Speaker 8: Probably we were talking about how the I found the
- 41:22Speaker 8: lines disrespectful. But after this weekend, I'm like, Okay, I
- 41:26Speaker 8: always knew that Eliot Taporia is a really good fighter,
- 41:29Speaker 8: but maybe I put more credit toward Charles Olivera than
- 41:33Speaker 8: I should have. But still I didn't say he was
- 41:36Speaker 8: going to win. I fully knew Iliotaporio was gonna take
- 41:39Speaker 8: this one. But the man is on fire. He's like
- 41:43Speaker 8: Fanos collecting stones right now, and he has his last
- 41:47Speaker 8: three fights were Charles Olivera, who was ranked number two,
- 41:53Speaker 8: knocked him out two minutes and twenty seven seconds into
- 41:55Speaker 8: the fight.
- 41:56Speaker 6: Taylor, I put the video in there. We like it is.
- 42:00Speaker 6: The knockout is brutal. The last before that.
- 42:05Speaker 3: We have to be careful playing UFC. Uh, they will
- 42:08Speaker 3: take it down and they will take the stream down.
- 42:11Speaker 8: But it's such a great it's such a great knockout.
- 42:14Speaker 8: I guess we don't have to play.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go, Sports Center affiliate.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I know, not like that.
- 42:21Speaker 3: We used to.
- 42:22Speaker 4: We used to play UFC clips all the time and
- 42:24Speaker 4: we're like, why is our stream getting taken down? And
- 42:26Speaker 4: then finally Danny kind of did some digging into It's
- 42:29Speaker 4: like if you play UFC, they will like immediately flag
- 42:33Speaker 4: your stream.
- 42:34Speaker 8: Yeah, fight before that, Yeah, Max Holloway knocked out our guy,
- 42:39Speaker 8: Max Holloway, like the only knockout he has.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Look at that.
- 42:43Speaker 5: It's a hammer fist on people when they're already knocked
- 42:46Speaker 5: out and they just get the top of these.
- 42:49Speaker 8: He's like, he had a hook that knocked him out
- 42:53Speaker 8: and then he hit him with like another one right
- 42:54Speaker 8: after that. He was already knocked out, but he just
- 42:58Speaker 8: and then before Max Holloway was Bulk and he knocked
- 43:01Speaker 8: him out too. So he's just like over here knocking
- 43:04Speaker 8: out everybody's favorite fighters, like truly truly evil stuffy getting Yeah.
- 43:11Speaker 8: But I am a really big fan of him and
- 43:15Speaker 8: he probably has the best walkout song in the UFC
- 43:19Speaker 8: right now. But to do that and then to go
- 43:22Speaker 8: from featherweight, vacate that title, and then immediately win the
- 43:26Speaker 8: vacant lightweight title. This I told y'all, he's about to
- 43:31Speaker 8: be the face of the UFC if he's not already.
- 43:33Speaker 8: Like he is very entertaining. He backs up all the ish.
- 43:37Speaker 8: He talks, Oh, yeah, we should I'm bad.
- 43:39Speaker 3: No, No, you're good, Taylor, that we're gonna get his
- 43:41Speaker 3: On the other side.
- 43:42Speaker 2: He did have that face off with Patty the batty.
- 43:44Speaker 5: Like because I was like, Patty like you.
- 43:52Speaker 2: He's you're in the face off. I was like you
- 43:54Speaker 2: just look, you don't look good.
- 43:56Speaker 3: All right, we'll take a break.
- 43:57Speaker 4: Maybe we'll play the walkout song as Rejoy Music will
- 44:00Speaker 4: to Taylor's Weekend Winner to wrap up our number.
