- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Now here's your host, Nasa Chobee. Welcome into another edition
- 0:12Speaker 2: of Hawk Talk.
- 0:13Speaker 1: The Seahawks return home to Luminfield to take on the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Minnesota Vikings big game this Sunday, And there's some big
- 0:19Speaker 1: roster moves this week, so I'll jump right into that bump.
- 0:21Speaker 1: The Seahawks resigned Pro Bowl safety Quandre Diggs all right,
- 0:25Speaker 1: Quandray back to the practice squad in Seattle. Obviously, he
- 0:28Speaker 1: was here from twenty nineteen twenty twenty three. Lots of
- 0:29Speaker 1: Pro Bowls, lots of interceptions, huge fan favorite there. Seahawks
- 0:33Speaker 1: also signed veteran running back Cam Akers to the fifty
- 0:36Speaker 1: three man roster. You remember that name for this time
- 0:38Speaker 1: with the Rams and most recently with the Vikings. Actually then,
- 0:41Speaker 1: the Seahawks also promoted cornerback Shack Griffin and linebacker Patrick
- 0:44Speaker 1: O'Connell from the practice squad to the fifty three man roster.
- 0:48Speaker 1: The Seahawks wave cornerback Deeryon Kendrick. Also put Chaser rat
- 0:52Speaker 1: On Ir with an ankle injury. Miles Gaskin Jimmy Holliday
- 0:56Speaker 1: signed to the practice squad, So honestly, bump you know
- 0:59Speaker 1: with Andre. Love him back here, been favorite, Everyone in
- 1:03Speaker 1: this building loves him. Obviously helps with the depth because
- 1:05Speaker 1: the other thing that happened is Riley Mills was designated
- 1:08Speaker 1: to return to practice, but Julian Love did not come
- 1:12Speaker 1: off i R this week, so we will not see
- 1:13Speaker 1: him this week. So Qandre definitely coming in to help
- 1:16Speaker 1: with some depth at safety.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Yeah, you need that. He's a veteran, a guy who's
- 1:19Speaker 3: been there before. Different defense, but he's been around a
- 1:21Speaker 3: few times. He can pick up a defense. And I
- 1:24Speaker 3: just spoke to who he spoke to, Mafe. He just
- 1:26Speaker 3: talked about it. As soon as he walked through the door.
- 1:28Speaker 3: It was like he never left. And you expect nothing less,
- 1:31Speaker 3: but you need depth moves. You got a Patre O'Connor
- 1:32Speaker 3: who played good last week. He gets a nod as well,
- 1:35Speaker 3: Shack obviously getting promoted. It's you know you expected these
- 1:39Speaker 3: type of moves, especially this time of year.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yeah, no question.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Anyway, shout out to Nino Quandre Diggs back uniform. Love
- 1:45Speaker 1: to see it, but let's football attention. Chew these Minnesota
- 1:48Speaker 1: Vikings what's on tap?
- 1:50Speaker 2: What's on tap?
- 1:52Speaker 1: The Vikings four in seven, last place in that NFC
- 1:55Speaker 1: north Man. Yeah, whenever the Bears in week one you
- 1:59Speaker 1: went to, they'd be in this situation that both teams
- 2:01Speaker 1: are in now. Lost to the Falcons, went over the Bengals,
- 2:05Speaker 1: with loss to the Steelers, went over the Browns. Losses
- 2:07Speaker 1: to the Eagles, Chargers, Ravens, Bears, Packers. They did beat
- 2:11Speaker 1: the Lions, so we got a couple of good quality wins.
- 2:14Speaker 1: But they're four and seven and they're struggling currently on
- 2:16Speaker 1: a three game losing streak.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Lost five of their last six.
- 2:19Speaker 1: JJ McCarthy struggles for most of the season, also struggled
- 2:23Speaker 1: to run the ball. It's been a tough go for
- 2:24Speaker 1: them lately, and this past Sunday Bump was a beat
- 2:26Speaker 1: down at Lambeau.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Yes, it was man.
- 2:28Speaker 3: The offensive numbers they didn't jump off the page for
- 2:30Speaker 3: either team, but the Packers were able to dominate time
- 2:33Speaker 3: of possession thirty seven minutes of twenty two because they
- 2:35Speaker 3: were able to run the ball. Most of that was
- 2:38Speaker 3: because Emmanuel Wilson, who broke into the league as an
- 2:41Speaker 3: undrafted free agent from Division two four Valley State stand
- 2:44Speaker 3: up out. He stepped up four injured Josh Jacobs and
- 2:47Speaker 3: had a really good day. He rushed for a career
- 2:49Speaker 3: high one O seven on twenty eight carries and two touchdowns.
- 2:52Speaker 3: And the Packers weren't ripping off exposive plays. The longest
- 2:54Speaker 3: run was just thirteen yards. But they were consistent and
- 2:57Speaker 3: they moved the ball. The Packers ran the ball forty
- 2:59Speaker 3: two times and through it just twenty two.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Times in this NFL? Is Jordan Love over there? Still
- 3:04Speaker 2: he is?
- 3:05Speaker 1: He?
- 3:05Speaker 2: Still there? Remember the football? Okay? All right? The crazy
- 3:09Speaker 2: thing there is I think coach even talked about. He said,
- 3:10Speaker 2: I don't know. Man just kept running the rock. I've
- 3:12Speaker 2: been one of those games in a while. I said.
- 3:13Speaker 2: The defense is playing really well. So yes, rode the
- 3:16Speaker 2: hot hand yep ride him all right.
- 3:18Speaker 3: The Vikings weren't able to do much of anything on
- 3:20Speaker 3: offense and had a net total of just four yards
- 3:23Speaker 3: in the second half. That is frustrating. I don't think
- 3:25Speaker 3: I've ever been a part of that. I don't want
- 3:26Speaker 3: to be a part of that. I don't want to
- 3:27Speaker 3: be a part of that. Wurson's nineteen ninety one. The
- 3:31Speaker 3: Packers won the football game twenty three to six, and
- 3:34Speaker 3: despite the lack of production, the game was competitive at
- 3:36Speaker 3: halftime with the Packers up just ten to six. The
- 3:38Speaker 3: Vikings got to stop on in the first possession, but
- 3:40Speaker 3: turn the ball over on the ensuing punt when the
- 3:43Speaker 3: football hit a Vikings player who was blocking and the
- 3:45Speaker 3: Packers were covered inside the five yard line.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Wilson scored two plays later.
- 3:50Speaker 3: JJ McCarthy on the day twelve to nineteen eighty seven yards,
- 3:53Speaker 3: zero touchdowns, two interceptions, Jordan Mason and Aaron Jones can
- 3:56Speaker 3: buy for eighty three rushing yards and Justin Jefferson was
- 3:58Speaker 3: held to forty eight yards receptions.
- 4:00Speaker 2: That man has to be frustrated over there.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a clip on social media of him walking
- 4:05Speaker 1: off the field because in Green Bay there's one little
- 4:07Speaker 1: tunnel in the corner of the end zone. It's barely
- 4:09Speaker 1: me and you could barely walk through it. At the
- 4:10Speaker 1: same time walk through there and yeah, well the Packers
- 4:13Speaker 1: have their own, but the visiting team has to come
- 4:15Speaker 1: through and it's small than that captain over there. And anyway,
- 4:16Speaker 1: just walking in watching him walk off the field just
- 4:19Speaker 1: looks sad man frustrated, poor guy, and uh, I mean
- 4:22Speaker 1: he's okay. Financially, he's stuff but no, but no, it
- 4:26Speaker 1: shortly when we throw for eighty seven yards in National
- 4:28Speaker 1: Football League, that's tough. They're not playing good football right now,
- 4:31Speaker 1: and we'll jump leads us into the head to head
- 4:33Speaker 1: of the numbers, kind of bear that out. Seahawks offensively
- 4:36Speaker 1: have really continued to climb the ranks all season. They
- 4:39Speaker 1: are seventh in the NFL in total offense in terms
- 4:41Speaker 1: of yards, sixteenth, running the rock fourth, and pass offense
- 4:44Speaker 1: third in points per game, So they're doing their thing there.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Biking is a little bit different story, twenty eighth in
- 4:49Speaker 1: total offense, twenty fourth in rush offense twenty eight passing
- 4:53Speaker 1: that thing, twenty fifth in points per game, averaging twenty.
- 4:55Speaker 1: So Seahawks obviously have the decided advantage is because the
- 4:59Speaker 1: Bikings just really struggle to score points this year.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Defensively, the Hawks are seventh overall, fourth against the run,
- 5:05Speaker 3: fourteenth against the pass. The Vikings eleventh overall, twenty fourth
- 5:08Speaker 3: against the run, seventh against the pass, eighteenth. When it
- 5:11Speaker 3: comes to allowing points, are allowing twenty three, the Hawks
- 5:14Speaker 3: allowing nineteen per game.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Hawks have nine interceptions, the Vikings have three. Yeah in
- 5:20Speaker 2: vanash Seahawks. I think should be should.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Be that that's just paper though, you know this is
- 5:25Speaker 3: just the matchup on paper. You still got to play
- 5:27Speaker 3: this game. But I feel all right about it.
- 5:28Speaker 1: No absolute, especially Seahawks coming back home against the struggling
- 5:31Speaker 1: Vikings team.
- 5:31Speaker 2: What is it? Palm Moyo always says, you'd rather play
- 5:33Speaker 2: a team come off of lost than a win.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Yeah, they're struggling right now, so we'll see how that
- 5:37Speaker 1: happens when they get together on Sunday.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Before we get to that, let's know the history, No,
- 5:43Speaker 2: your history.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Seahawks lead the all time series thirteen to seven, twelve
- 5:47Speaker 1: in seven the regular season one and now in the postseason.
- 5:50Speaker 1: That was the Blair Walsh game. After winning seven games
- 5:52Speaker 1: in a row, the Seahawks have lost actually two in
- 5:54Speaker 1: this series against the Vikings, most recently Tough one last
- 5:58Speaker 1: December looked a lot different. As you know, Sam Donald's
- 6:01Speaker 1: quarterback of the Vikings then came into Lumingfield, ruined our
- 6:03Speaker 1: playoffs hopes, winning twenty seven twenty four, And it really
- 6:07Speaker 1: came down to the end of that ball game. Seahawks
- 6:09Speaker 1: going this long drive, Gino finds aj Barner, they go
- 6:12Speaker 1: up twenty four to twenty With four to twenty one,
- 6:14Speaker 1: next possession of the Vikings are driving back. Buyer Murphy,
- 6:17Speaker 1: who didn't have a lot of sacked, was crazy how
- 6:19Speaker 1: far his game is coming. But he got a sack
- 6:22Speaker 1: on Sam Donald would have set up third and eighteen.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Unfortunately face Masks sent him first down. Next play, Justin
- 6:27Speaker 1: Jefferson over the top, forty ard touchdown. Seahawks tried to
- 6:31Speaker 1: come back, Myers missed a long field goal, they get
- 6:33Speaker 1: a stop and then the last possession, Gino Smith was
- 6:35Speaker 1: intercepted and that was all she wrote.
- 6:37Speaker 2: It was pretty tough, man.
- 6:39Speaker 1: It was tough because that really sent the Seahawks into
- 6:41Speaker 1: a position where they need to lean on other people.
- 6:43Speaker 1: We saw Sam Donald do that, and now he's on
- 6:45Speaker 1: our team. I played for the good guys.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, way to flip it on him. All right,
- 6:49Speaker 3: Now this is your house. You came into our house
- 6:52Speaker 3: and it made a sandwich. But now you're the chef
- 6:54Speaker 3: in the house. So we love the promotion.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Love the promotion will shift our gears to what's going
- 6:58Speaker 1: on in the division.
- 6:59Speaker 2: What's the word? And the Seahawks or the NFC West
- 7:06Speaker 2: champs again, what's the word in the West on Hawk.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Talk, everybody's chasing the Los Angeles Rams. In the NFC West,
- 7:15Speaker 3: you got the Cardinals at the bottom at three and eight,
- 7:17Speaker 3: then the Niners seven to four, of the Hawks eight
- 7:19Speaker 3: and three, and like I said, the Rams nine and two. Uh,
- 7:21Speaker 3: they're on top, man. They control their own destiny for
- 7:23Speaker 3: the number one seed. The remaining schedule for the Rams,
- 7:26Speaker 3: the Panthers, the Cardinals, the Lions of the Seahawks and Falcons,
- 7:29Speaker 3: and then the Cardinals one more game. The Seahawks are
- 7:32Speaker 3: a game behind the Rams in need a winning Week
- 7:35Speaker 3: sixteen for any real chance at the division title. The
- 7:37Speaker 3: Hawks remaining schedule, you got the Vikings, the Falcons of Colts,
- 7:40Speaker 3: the Rams, the Panthers, and the Niners.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Don't sleep on the Panthers.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I know they're coming off a bad loss to the Niners,
- 7:45Speaker 3: but we've seen them play some good football. But the
- 7:47Speaker 3: Lions probably have the best shot at beating the Rams.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Before the Hawks take on the Rams on twelve eighteen.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Will be interesting to see how there's some folds.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I'm just looking at the schedule and
- 7:57Speaker 1: you're looking at Dan the Rams. Actually I would say
- 8:00Speaker 1: cake schedule, but the weight that they're playing right now.
- 8:02Speaker 1: You look at that and you go, Okay, the only
- 8:04Speaker 1: loss I'm potentially seeing is the Lions, and that's leading
- 8:07Speaker 1: right into the Seahawks game with them. So, like you said,
- 8:09Speaker 1: it'll be interesting to see what happens there. Hopefully the
- 8:11Speaker 1: Lions can do Sehawks a solid or maybe the Cardinals.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Come out of nowhere. Maybe you know what, we're sel
- 8:15Speaker 2: division team? What's upset these guys? I don't know.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I don't necessarily see that, but we'll see and then
- 8:20Speaker 1: you know.
- 8:20Speaker 2: But Bump, it was a It was ugly on Sunday night.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Bucks and Rams.
- 8:25Speaker 3: I was watching that game for a bit and or bit.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Once A got out of hand, I'm like, I'll recap this,
- 8:31Speaker 3: so I'll go work on some other stuff. But the
- 8:33Speaker 3: Rams they left thirty one at seven and a half
- 8:35Speaker 3: time and coast it to a thirty four to seven victory.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Matthew Stafford still looks like an MVP.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Was twenty five to thirty five for two seventy three
- 8:42Speaker 3: and three touchdowns, zero interceptions. He currently has three hundred
- 8:46Speaker 3: and eight pass attempts without an interception. Man Is Bawling
- 8:49Speaker 3: Pooka had seven for ninety seven. Devonte had five for
- 8:52Speaker 3: sixty two and two touchdowns. Kolbe Parkerson at four for
- 8:54Speaker 3: forty one and one touchdown. Baker Mayfield went nine of
- 8:57Speaker 3: nineteen for forty one yards at touchdown Twitter set is,
- 9:00Speaker 3: including a picked six. He was banged up in that game,
- 9:02Speaker 3: but it looks like he's gonna be okay. It was
- 9:04Speaker 3: an AC joint deal. He should be good. Teddy Bridgewater
- 9:07Speaker 3: came in for him. He was eight to fifteen for
- 9:09Speaker 3: sixty two, no touchdowns, and Jared Vers and Kobe Turner
- 9:11Speaker 3: had two sacks apiece and the Rams defense allowed just
- 9:14Speaker 3: one hundred and ninety three yards. The Rams traveled to
- 9:17Speaker 3: Cali to take on Well, they stay in Calli and
- 9:20Speaker 3: they take.
- 9:20Speaker 2: On the Panthers. Yeah it we'll see.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Oh, they trived to Carolina. As far as a role game,
- 9:25Speaker 3: they're trying to Carolina to take on the Panthers.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll but Panthers are better than teams thought. I
- 9:32Speaker 1: think beginning of this year we're about to talk about the
- 9:33Speaker 1: Panthers now because they went down to Santa Clara to
- 9:36Speaker 1: play the forty nine.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Ers in that game was ugly. The turnover fest ugly.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Both q's come buy for five interceptions forty nine ers.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Though they were lying on Christian McCaffrey, who's a dog,
- 9:44Speaker 1: they get to win twenty to nine. It was the
- 9:47Speaker 1: first game against his old team. One hundred and forty
- 9:49Speaker 1: two scrimmag yards and one touchdown for McCaffrey and brock
- 9:52Speaker 1: perdy Man Yikes twenty three to thirty two, one ninety three,
- 9:54Speaker 1: one touchdown in three interceptions, and I felt they were
- 9:57Speaker 1: right off the bats, so it felt even worse Q
- 10:00Speaker 1: fifty eight and a half. Then you got Bryce Young
- 10:02Speaker 1: was not great either, eighteen to twenty nine, one sixty nine,
- 10:05Speaker 1: one touchdown, two interceptions, QB rating of sixty, and it
- 10:10Speaker 1: wasn't The game was in control for the Niners pretty
- 10:12Speaker 1: much the whole way. But anyway, to your point, the
- 10:14Speaker 1: Panthers are there, they're in contention. They're not going to
- 10:16Speaker 1: be a team that you can roll over. But just
- 10:18Speaker 1: looking at the way the Rams were playing, something's got
- 10:20Speaker 1: to happen to get them off where they're at right
- 10:22Speaker 1: now because they're playing some good ball.
- 10:24Speaker 2: So again, looking.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Forward to that rematch in week eighteen or sixteen against
- 10:28Speaker 1: the Rams on Thursday Night football. Both football attention back
- 10:30Speaker 1: to those Minnesota Vikings.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Man out, hey, who you got? Who you got? You
- 10:35Speaker 2: know what time it is? Man up? Man up, brother,
- 10:37Speaker 2: man up man up on Hawk Talk. Where do you
- 10:41Speaker 2: want to start? Bummy? I started the quarterbacks? Yeah, might
- 10:43Speaker 2: as well, might as well.
- 10:44Speaker 1: It's a little little hairy over there. Obviously, the Vikings
- 10:48Speaker 1: last couple of years, a lot of changeover right. You
- 10:50Speaker 1: have Kirk Cousins, who's the main save for them for
- 10:52Speaker 1: six years, two playoff appearances for them. Then they go
- 10:55Speaker 1: out tenth overall pick. They get JJ McCarthy out of Michigan.
- 10:59Speaker 1: It's all about him. Obviously, Cousins moves on to Atlanta. Unfortunately,
- 11:03Speaker 1: right off top, what happens to JJ McCarthy, who was
- 11:05Speaker 1: obviously a stud in college? You all remember that because
- 11:08Speaker 1: they beat the Huskies win a national championship. He won
- 11:10Speaker 1: a ton of games, twenty seven to one record at
- 11:12Speaker 1: a starter. That leads him to get drafted. He gets
- 11:14Speaker 1: to the Vikings, gets hurt right off top, gone for
- 11:17Speaker 1: the year. So what happens entering a guy named Sam
- 11:20Speaker 1: Darnold had a pretty good season. I think we know
- 11:22Speaker 1: how that story end. Obviously, is Donald Owt here in Seattle.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Vikings decided to make a choice, and they rolled the
- 11:27Speaker 1: dice and.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Went with JJ McCarthy.
- 11:29Speaker 1: And you can't really blame him for a first round
- 11:31Speaker 1: pick thinking that that's going to be the way to go.
- 11:33Speaker 1: But I mean, I won't say it. I think everyone
- 11:36Speaker 1: kind of knows there. But anyway, McCarthy's just had a
- 11:38Speaker 1: rough start.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Man.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I think he was a great player in college, but
- 11:40Speaker 1: he's only played in six games tat with three different injuries.
- 11:42Speaker 1: My ankle sprain in Week two caused him as five games.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Then it came back stupter to Bruce Hand. Now he's
- 11:48Speaker 1: a concussion protocol. We're not even sure if he's gonna
- 11:50Speaker 1: be able to play on Sunday. And if he can't play,
- 11:52Speaker 1: Max Brosmer is going to get the start. When McCarthy
- 11:56Speaker 1: was out there, it'd been pretty tough. Like I said,
- 11:58Speaker 1: he is lasted most statistical categories for quarterbacks QBR twenty four,
- 12:03Speaker 1: completed percentage, fifty four, touchdown interception ratio zero queen six.
- 12:08Speaker 1: McCarthy is one of the worst starts of the NFL
- 12:09Speaker 1: quarterback in the past decade. Dang only throwing for two
- 12:12Speaker 1: hundred yards once ten interceptions.
- 12:16Speaker 3: It's not good it's not great. It's like, but hey,
- 12:19Speaker 3: but don't give up on them. Man, Let that young
- 12:20Speaker 3: man develop, right, give him an hundred shot. I'm tired
- 12:23Speaker 3: of these young guys getting kicked to the curve. So quickly,
- 12:25Speaker 3: Sam will tell you all about that. You got the
- 12:28Speaker 3: guy we're going to see, Max Broseburn. He played at
- 12:31Speaker 3: the University of Minnesota after transfer from the University of
- 12:34Speaker 3: New Hampshire.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I like saying that. I was gonna say, it's that
- 12:37Speaker 2: New Hampshire.
- 12:37Speaker 3: I think I saw like a cartoon or something like
- 12:40Speaker 3: that in New Hampshire.
- 12:42Speaker 2: So that's a that's how I say it, all right.
- 12:44Speaker 3: He had a solid preseason, going thirty five to fifty
- 12:47Speaker 3: eight for three hundred sixty four yards and two touchdown
- 12:49Speaker 3: in interception in three games. The Vikings could have added
- 12:52Speaker 3: a quarterback, a veteran quarterback at the deadline, but uh
- 12:56Speaker 3: they didn't.
- 12:57Speaker 2: They didn't. They said, uh, we got this good.
- 13:00Speaker 1: So in quarterback room, you know, Carson was the veteran there,
- 13:03Speaker 1: but they said not to sign anybody.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Yeah we're good, so gotta do with Max. Good old Max.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I mean Kevin O'Connell was obviously, he's kind of known
- 13:09Speaker 1: as a QB whisper. And you know a lot of
- 13:12Speaker 1: people attributed what happened with Sam last year to him.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I think everyone can see now this is not any
- 13:16Speaker 1: taking any disrespect to Kevin O'Connell.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Think he's an amazing coach. But the guy Sam.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Darnold is a dog now and I think he's been
- 13:22Speaker 1: that and last year all he's doneapproved that last year
- 13:25Speaker 1: was not a fluke will jump into him right now.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Solid performance last week, a huge, bounced back game against
- 13:29Speaker 1: the Titans, sixteen to twenty six, two forty four, two touchdowns,
- 13:32Speaker 1: QB rating of one to eighteen point one. Donald now
- 13:35Speaker 1: has twenty games with a one hundred plus passer rating
- 13:37Speaker 1: since twenty twenty four, that is the most in the NFL,
- 13:39Speaker 1: and again took care of the football bat was number one,
- 13:42Speaker 1: and he's among the league's best.
- 13:43Speaker 2: We talk about this every week.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Six in passing yards, one in yards per past ten,
- 13:48Speaker 1: one in yards per completion fifth and passer rating sixth
- 13:51Speaker 1: in the QBR, fourth and completion percentage. But but here's
- 13:54Speaker 1: an interesting one that I saw today. Darnald this, according
- 13:57Speaker 1: to the Next Gen SATs, deadly in the first quarter,
- 14:00Speaker 1: no sacks, forty five or sixty for six hundred and
- 14:03Speaker 1: eight yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions. Those six hundred
- 14:06Speaker 1: and eight yards are the sixth most despite throwing.
- 14:08Speaker 2: The third least in the NFL. So he's just been
- 14:11Speaker 2: really efficient.
- 14:12Speaker 1: That Seahawks was getting ahead on teams and it's making
- 14:14Speaker 1: it hard to come back. But Sam is in another
- 14:16Speaker 1: world right now.
- 14:17Speaker 3: He's efficient. He's efficient. These numbers are going to remain
- 14:19Speaker 3: all year. I guarantee that. Let's talk about their running
- 14:22Speaker 3: back Aaron Jones Senior and Jordan Mason. Aaron Johnson's his
- 14:27Speaker 3: ninth year in the league. That's crazy. The former fifth
- 14:29Speaker 3: round pick really made a name for himself. He spent
- 14:32Speaker 3: seven years with the Green Bay Packers. He made the
- 14:34Speaker 3: Pro Bowl once at three one thousand yard seasons and
- 14:36Speaker 3: once led the NFL in rushing touchdowns. In twenty twenty four,
- 14:40Speaker 3: his first season with Minnesota, he rushed for eleven hundred
- 14:42Speaker 3: and thirty eight yards five touchdowns. He also had fifty
- 14:45Speaker 3: one receptions in four to eight yards and two touchdowns.
- 14:48Speaker 3: He was also healthy for seventy games, and he's thirteen
- 14:50Speaker 3: yards in Skimmers reach a ten thousand yard career mark
- 14:53Speaker 3: year two in Minnesota.
- 14:54Speaker 2: It's been kind of shaky.
- 14:55Speaker 3: He missed four games with a Hampshire injury, also has
- 14:58Speaker 3: a dinged up shoulder. In the games he has played,
- 15:00Speaker 3: he hasn't really put up big numbers. Doesn't have a
- 15:03Speaker 3: game of more than seventy eight yards and only one
- 15:05Speaker 3: game of more than ten carries. He only has one
- 15:07Speaker 3: touchdown for the season. That's interesting for the year sixty
- 15:11Speaker 3: one carries two ninety seven one touchdown, sixteen receptions for
- 15:13Speaker 3: one to twenty eight and one touchdown.
- 15:16Speaker 2: That they have to try to get the ring game going.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Yeah, especially with the young quarterback back there, so I
- 15:19Speaker 3: would assume that he's going to get more opportunities to
- 15:21Speaker 3: run a rock.
- 15:22Speaker 2: No question about it.
- 15:23Speaker 1: And part of that lack of production maybe you can
- 15:26Speaker 1: attribute to Jordan Mason a little bit of short workload.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Mason spent his first three years with forty nine Ers,
- 15:32Speaker 1: jumped to the Vikings this offseason. Started four games when
- 15:35Speaker 1: Jones was hurt, and he had one game more in
- 15:38Speaker 1: over one hundred yards. Nothing that'll go crazy off the
- 15:41Speaker 1: tape for you, but rush for five hundred and thirty
- 15:43Speaker 1: one yards one hundred and sixteen carries, five touchdowns overall
- 15:46Speaker 1: as a team They're not amazing, they're not absolutely terrible.
- 15:48Speaker 1: They're twenty fourth in the NFL, averaging one hundred and
- 15:50Speaker 1: two yards per game. But it's a tough scenario for them, bump,
- 15:53Speaker 1: because who do you have one of the best rushing
- 15:55Speaker 1: defense International Football League Seahawks ranked fourth along just ninety
- 15:59Speaker 1: yards per game. You're gonna be thrown in either a
- 16:02Speaker 1: rookie quarterback or another court two young quarterbacks, whether it's
- 16:06Speaker 1: McCarthy or Brozman, who's playing into that environment against the
- 16:10Speaker 1: number one rushing defensive tall task stass.
- 16:12Speaker 2: For it is.
- 16:14Speaker 3: But good luck. You gotta play. You gotta line up
- 16:16Speaker 3: in and play your games, man.
- 16:17Speaker 2: So we'll see. Let's talk about ken walker'sax.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Sharbonna. Looks like ken has emerged as the lead back.
- 16:23Speaker 3: I think he's always been a lead back because he's
- 16:25Speaker 3: usually the first guy out there. There's a game or
- 16:26Speaker 3: two where he wasn't, but it's the way that he's
- 16:28Speaker 3: getting the football. Mike McDonald said he earned some more reps,
- 16:32Speaker 3: and that's exactly what he's done. Ken Walker has had
- 16:34Speaker 3: a run of at least ten yards in ten of
- 16:37Speaker 3: the eleven games this season. He also has six games
- 16:39Speaker 3: where he has a run of at least nineteen yards.
- 16:42Speaker 3: It's clear he has a potential for the big play.
- 16:44Speaker 3: He's just got to get in his groove and get
- 16:46Speaker 3: things together. On the year, six hundred and seventy seven yards,
- 16:49Speaker 3: four touchdowns, seventeen receptions for one to fifty seven.
- 16:51Speaker 2: He's on pace four thousand yards. It's sneaky one thousand
- 16:54Speaker 2: two just consistent push. McDonald said.
- 16:57Speaker 1: He's earned it that way, so good to see there
- 16:58Speaker 1: and alongside of him, obviously, Zach Sharbonney's all in pass protection.
- 17:02Speaker 2: We know what he can do.
- 17:02Speaker 1: He'll run you over really good in the red zone.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Seven touchdowns there, a little less explosive in terms of
- 17:07Speaker 1: the big play threat. He's had a run of thirty yards,
- 17:10Speaker 1: but he has only four games with the rest of
- 17:12Speaker 1: ten yards and more so, a little bit different there.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Seahawks are sixteenth in the NFL and rushing and then,
- 17:16Speaker 1: believe or not, they've been solely climbing up that with
- 17:18Speaker 1: a couple of good games. So I'd love to see
- 17:20Speaker 1: this running game really get after and really get established
- 17:23Speaker 1: early on and get some big runs.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Let's a little bit over to the Vikings. Got a
- 17:28Speaker 2: couple good receivers.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I guess so, and let's be let's be straight up
- 17:31Speaker 1: no disrespect to the Tennessee Titans. The Seahawks are facing
- 17:34Speaker 1: a much better receiving core. Justin Jefferson, Jordan Adison, Justin
- 17:38Speaker 1: Jefferson one of the best in the National Football League. Literally,
- 17:40Speaker 1: if you're talking about best receiving in the league, bump
- 17:42Speaker 1: correct me if I'm wrong. You're talking right now, well
- 17:45Speaker 1: Jackson Smith and Jake but we'll got to him in
- 17:46Speaker 1: a second. Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, CD Pickings. Yeah, I mean,
- 17:53Speaker 1: but that's that's it. That's the class of National Football League.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson is doing his thing. Obviously, former first round
- 17:58Speaker 1: pick at twenty twenty, he's doing nothing but produced four
- 18:01Speaker 1: time Pro Bowl or two time First team All Pro,
- 18:04Speaker 1: gone over one thousand yards in every season in the NFL.
- 18:07Speaker 1: He even did it one year when he only played
- 18:08Speaker 1: in nine games. Led the league in eighteen hundred yards
- 18:11Speaker 1: to twenty twenty two, joined Randy Moss and Tory Holt,
- 18:14Speaker 1: is the only players with at least eight thousand receiving
- 18:16Speaker 1: yards in their first six seasons in NFL history. Last year,
- 18:19Speaker 1: fifteen hundred yards, ten touchdowns and he's still doing pretty
- 18:22Speaker 1: well despite the shaky quarterback situation. Sixt year receptions, seven
- 18:25Speaker 1: hundred ninety five yards and two touchdowns.
- 18:28Speaker 3: And then other side you got Jordan Addison. He was
- 18:31Speaker 3: his third season out of Pitt and USC didn't win
- 18:33Speaker 3: the blittantcoff.
- 18:34Speaker 2: He did win the blittant call.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Started thirty six to forty games with two one hundred
- 18:38Speaker 3: and ninety eight yards and twenty two touchdowns. Always a
- 18:41Speaker 3: deep good has at least a sixty two yard reception
- 18:43Speaker 3: in every season, including an eighty one yard of this season.
- 18:46Speaker 3: So far this year, these twenty eight receptions four to
- 18:49Speaker 3: twelve yards and three touchdown. Despite who's gone in the football,
- 18:52Speaker 3: this two can get busy and we're seeing that, no.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Question about it. Yeah, so again, stay deep.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I have faith in the Seahawks secondary, especially while they've played,
- 19:02Speaker 1: but these guys can beat you. We saw last year,
- 19:04Speaker 1: literally ended the game last year with Justin Jefferson getting
- 19:07Speaker 1: beat deep. You know, at the end of that game,
- 19:09Speaker 1: popping it over to our guy Jackson Smith and Jagba
- 19:11Speaker 1: Bump again.
- 19:12Speaker 2: We could talk about this dude forever.
- 19:14Speaker 1: One hundred sixty seven yards last week, two touchdowns set
- 19:17Speaker 1: the single season record pass Twuio Jones for fifth most
- 19:20Speaker 1: receiving yards ever in the first player first eleven games,
- 19:23Speaker 1: leads the NFL and receiving yards, yards per game, yards
- 19:26Speaker 1: per test fourth and yards per reception eighty receptions one
- 19:29Speaker 1: three hundred and thirteen yards and seven touchdowns and one
- 19:32Speaker 1: other thing from Next Gen Stats, JSN is acounted for
- 19:34Speaker 1: nearly half of the Seahawks air yards this season, resulting
- 19:37Speaker 1: in the highest air yards share by a receiver during
- 19:39Speaker 1: the next Gen Stats era going back to twenty sixteen.
- 19:42Speaker 1: That's forty eight percent of those things.
- 19:44Speaker 2: So Jayson Dog, are we surprised anymore?
- 19:49Speaker 3: I think he's averaging one hundred and nineteen yards per
- 19:51Speaker 3: game right now, needs one oh nine to break a
- 19:54Speaker 3: one on nine per game to break two thousand yards.
- 19:56Speaker 3: We'll see man, I'm gonna joining the ride man. Good
- 19:59Speaker 3: for JSM Cooper Cubs being contributed as well. He's got
- 20:01Speaker 3: thirty one receptions for four hundred and four yards and
- 20:04Speaker 3: Rashis Shahet is now played in three games for the Hawks.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Still got to find a way to get him that
- 20:10Speaker 3: explosive play, but he is affecting the defenses like the
- 20:14Speaker 3: rouse He's putting them on or kobyak Is putting them on,
- 20:16Speaker 3: is affecting these defenses and getting other guys open. Eventually
- 20:19Speaker 3: it's going to happen. Maybe it's today or this week
- 20:23Speaker 3: for Rashid.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yeah, love to see it again.
- 20:25Speaker 1: And what I did like to see though, obviously Tory
- 20:28Speaker 1: Horton ran a kickback for touchdown, so he was doing
- 20:30Speaker 1: this thing that's supposed to be. But I just love
- 20:32Speaker 1: how in the return game even he looks really good
- 20:34Speaker 1: against the Titans and he's right there almost breaking one.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I wouldn't be shocked if he ran one back to
- 20:38Speaker 1: the house as well. And lastly, bumpus Is look at
- 20:41Speaker 1: a couple of top defenders for the Vikings. Last season,
- 20:43Speaker 1: they were led by Jonathan Greenart and Andrew Van Ginkel.
- 20:48Speaker 1: They had twenty three and a half sacks thirty six
- 20:50Speaker 1: tackles for loss. This year, they've been a little bit
- 20:52Speaker 1: danged up. Van Ginkle's missed five games with a neck
- 20:55Speaker 1: issue he's been battling that, missed some time, had a concussion.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Greenard is this last two games with a shoulder injury,
- 21:01Speaker 1: and he's their best pass rusher. I think he has
- 21:03Speaker 1: thirty six pressures on the year despite missing the last
- 21:05Speaker 1: two games. So those guys kind of make this thing turn.
- 21:08Speaker 1: So we'll see them. Those guys that you know between
- 21:10Speaker 1: Charles Cross Abe Lucas gonna have to definitely account for.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Yeah, Ed just got to be on pointed in.
- 21:15Speaker 3: You got Eric Wilson, a good backer, Dallas Turner and
- 21:18Speaker 3: Jalen Redmond as well.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Those guys.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Wilson has ten TFLs. I think he's tied for ninth
- 21:23Speaker 3: in the league when it comes to TFLs. Turner has
- 21:26Speaker 3: six of them things. Jalen has eight of those things
- 21:28Speaker 3: as well, and yeah, they got we know this defense
- 21:32Speaker 3: is good. It's a it's a florist's defense. They're gonna
- 21:34Speaker 3: be aggressive. They got some names over there that you recognize.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Nothing's given in this league, so go ahead and get
- 21:40Speaker 3: after this defense.
- 21:41Speaker 1: It'll be it'll be a fun one at Loominfield on Sunday.
- 21:44Speaker 1: We'll let you know how the Seahawks are going to
- 21:46Speaker 1: get this done with a path to victory. After forty
- 21:50Speaker 1: five waits for the staff Packer, Dickson puts it down.
- 21:53Speaker 2: That kick is away. If that kick is gun, good
- 21:57Speaker 2: day off. When rit gun, it's a path to victory.
- 22:00Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk I'll be Frank Bump. I feel like
- 22:03Speaker 1: this is a game is the auction handle because they're the
- 22:05Speaker 1: better team. They're a better team on paper, they're a
- 22:07Speaker 1: better team on film that we've seen. Obviously, CNFL, you
- 22:09Speaker 1: gotta go there and play. Tennessee proved that last week
- 22:12Speaker 1: that you got to show up and you still got
- 22:13Speaker 1: to play well.
- 22:14Speaker 2: But I think they should.
- 22:14Speaker 1: They are better at almost every category, and for me,
- 22:17Speaker 1: it's gonna start with getting after the quarterback. Whoever's lined
- 22:20Speaker 1: up after it got to make their life hell with
- 22:22Speaker 1: the st line.
- 22:22Speaker 2: I think they can make that happen.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Yeah, create turnovers, relentless pressure, keep the playmakers from beating.
- 22:28Speaker 2: You can't let Justin Jefferson look like the guy we
- 22:30Speaker 2: know he is.
- 22:32Speaker 3: Keep everything in front of you, and offensively take care
- 22:34Speaker 3: of the football. Build off the last week. No turnovers
- 22:36Speaker 3: last week, Let's keep that rolling. And that's the only
- 22:40Speaker 3: way these guys to stay in the game is if
- 22:41Speaker 3: you turn the football over. And I think it's gonna
- 22:43Speaker 3: be bros at the QB spot. I think they said
- 22:46Speaker 3: JJ's in a cut of protocol, so like, but maybe
- 22:50Speaker 3: JJ moraculously hills and he plays whoever get after that
- 22:53Speaker 3: dang quarterback.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it's obviously hard to get out of count
- 22:56Speaker 1: protocol within a week. So we'll see what happens there. Yeah,
- 22:58Speaker 1: get after whoever's playing. That's from the football, let's from
- 23:01Speaker 1: that thing, ken Walker. We've seen it.
- 23:03Speaker 2: We're right there.
- 23:04Speaker 1: We've seen a little bit of pieces put it all
- 23:06Speaker 1: together go over one hundred yards. I would love to
- 23:08Speaker 1: see that out a K nine and I just want
- 23:10Speaker 1: to see this team go out there and dominate. Like
- 23:11Speaker 1: we said, don't give up a special teams touchdowns. Another
- 23:13Speaker 1: thing you talked about the only way that the Viking's
- 23:15Speaker 1: to win this game turnovers and impact on special teams.
- 23:18Speaker 2: There was an incident, That's what I felt like. It
- 23:22Speaker 2: was an incident, an unfortunate incident. It was a punker
- 23:25Speaker 2: turned touchdown.
- 23:26Speaker 1: But coach Harbos had the Seahawks special teams on point
- 23:29Speaker 1: all season long, so I would be absolutely shocked that
- 23:32Speaker 1: happened again. Seahawks take it on the Vikings this Sunday
- 23:35Speaker 1: at Lumenfield one oh five. You can hear Michael Bumpus
- 23:38Speaker 1: and the rest of the pregame guys on the radio
- 23:40Speaker 1: at ten am.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Should be a fun one.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Hopefully we'll be talking to you on Monday about a
- 23:45Speaker 1: Seahawks victory. Happy thanks to giving everybody out there listen
- 23:48Speaker 1: and really really appreciate it. He's Michael Bumpus, I'm NASA Choby.
- 23:52Speaker 1: This has been Hawk Talk
