- 0:00Speaker 1: Spots Sports team.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it is the Big Freeze coming up now. Of
- 0:07Speaker 2: course this is the huge fundraiser for MND research and
- 0:11Speaker 2: it is the first one without Neil Danaher who had
- 0:14Speaker 2: all started over. We have Dan goringe on who's going
- 0:18Speaker 2: to be part of the Big Freeze this year.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Morning Dan, Hello by Dan, Good morning Hill. Thanks on
- 0:24Speaker 1: me on.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Yeah, man, so it's on Monday. You've been announced during
- 0:27Speaker 3: the week as one of the big freezers. What does
- 0:29Speaker 3: it mean to get chosen and are you scared of
- 0:32Speaker 3: getting into that water?
- 0:34Speaker 1: Yeah, terrifi absolutely, Terrifi. Never like the ice fasting in
- 0:37Speaker 1: my playing day. So to be going, you know, headfirst
- 0:40Speaker 1: or down a slide at a rapid rated terrifying. But
- 0:43Speaker 1: obviously he just said Neil Neil passing and around again
- 0:47Speaker 1: is obviously we all think it'll be the biggest one
- 0:49Speaker 1: yet to pay on it to Neil and to be
- 0:51Speaker 1: asked is just a massive auditor. So to play a
- 0:54Speaker 1: small part in what is such a big day and
- 0:56Speaker 1: a big cause and absolute honor I know.
- 0:58Speaker 2: And everyone in all the NRLs obviously was really hit
- 1:02Speaker 2: by Gi Arrow, who's also just recently got diagnosed.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Well, he was on our show last week. It was
- 1:08Speaker 3: really so hard to ye.
- 1:09Speaker 2: My heart was breaking for him and he's going to
- 1:12Speaker 2: be at the big Freeze at the MCG.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, it's massive. You know, I think more
- 1:17Speaker 1: and more of Neil at his side and our Jay
- 1:19Speaker 1: Arrow kind of that you know, cross code, kind of
- 1:23Speaker 1: acknowledging that this disease exists and it takes people's ability
- 1:26Speaker 1: to talk and move and eventually unfortunately takes their life.
- 1:29Speaker 1: So I think given Nil and with Jai will have
- 1:32Speaker 1: kind of both codes and both stands across all sports
- 1:36Speaker 1: in Australia tuning in and each year seems to get
- 1:39Speaker 1: bigger and bigger and bigger. So hopefully we.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Feel about that like it's good to finally have because
- 1:43Speaker 3: the A fell and l our enemy, I know, the
- 1:46Speaker 3: TV right Steel is being discussed at the moment and
- 1:49Speaker 3: from what I hear, Rol just wants to make sure
- 1:51Speaker 3: that they get more money than the AFL, even if
- 1:54Speaker 3: it's by a dollar. But having the AFL and and
- 1:56Speaker 3: R roll together is good. Do you think it could
- 1:58Speaker 3: be an ongoing thing?
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, I think so it's good that we can
- 2:03Speaker 1: finally maybe one day for this you know's birthday eventually
- 2:06Speaker 1: down the track come together and not be enemies once
- 2:08Speaker 1: and actually work towards one thing. But yeah, I think
- 2:11Speaker 1: I think hopefully one day, you know, maybe it's the
- 2:13Speaker 1: Big Freeze with both codes and then people who represent
- 2:17Speaker 1: both kind of codes on downslide.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and now listen, Dan, everyone who slides down this
- 2:23Speaker 2: slide into the freezing cold ice usually kind of dresses
- 2:28Speaker 2: up in some sort of costume.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Have you got any idea what you're going to be wearing.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I actually bought ten costumes, so I've got no idea.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I'm still at the very start, I know. So the
- 2:38Speaker 1: theme is people you admire or who inspire you. So
- 2:41Speaker 1: a lot of people said go down. As Michael Voss,
- 2:43Speaker 1: who was the ex coach at Carlson, he didn't really
- 2:45Speaker 1: inspire me to watch Culton, so he's out. We'll come
- 2:50Speaker 1: with something. I've got a couple more days to finalize it.
- 2:53Speaker 1: But yeah, I'm going through a few of the.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Moment and what do you think it's going to be
- 2:57Speaker 3: like the first Big Freeze without Neil Danaher there, It's
- 3:00Speaker 3: going to be a very emotional one. Yeah.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Yeah, massively emotional, I think, you know, emotional. Hopefully everyone
- 3:07Speaker 1: who can go and get a beanie or donate to
- 3:09Speaker 1: the virtual Beani links that are out there. At the moment,
- 3:11Speaker 1: going to be super emotional, but I think, as everyone
- 3:13Speaker 1: says around Neil, he wants us to play on, wants
- 3:16Speaker 1: to enjoy the day, to celebrate his life, to honor
- 3:19Speaker 1: him the best way we can. So a mix of
- 3:21Speaker 1: emotion and celebration.
- 3:23Speaker 2: And Dan, you've got Dan does Footy the podcast which
- 3:26Speaker 2: is just like insanely popular, and now you're going to
- 3:29Speaker 2: do a live show. What are you planning for that?
- 3:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's pretty crazy. We're very, very lucky to have
- 3:35Speaker 1: a big commuity people who actually tune in and listen
- 3:37Speaker 1: to me talk. I can't even speak, so it's amazing. No,
- 3:41Speaker 1: I don't at all. I've got four thousand words in
- 3:43Speaker 1: my head and that can come out in Yeah, great
- 3:48Speaker 1: big shot. Margaret Court planned obviously we're talking about the football,
- 3:51Speaker 1: and then all the big guests, music guests, all these
- 3:54Speaker 1: different acts and personalities on that final, all that Thursday
- 3:57Speaker 1: before the Grand Final, so me massive and.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Mark report alright, it is so fun. Good on you man,
- 4:02Speaker 3: Dan Gorange. I enjoy Monday. It's going to be an
- 4:04Speaker 3: emotional one, so we'll all be watching and of course
- 4:07Speaker 3: you can head to fight mnd dot org dot au
- 4:11Speaker 3: to donate today dan Gorrange, thanks you mate, have a
- 4:14Speaker 3: good weekend.
