Transcript
- 0:13Speaker 1: Welcome, welcome. It's a sad day here on foul territory,
- 0:19Speaker 1: at least for one of us.
- 0:20Speaker 2: I don't know about for Kratz, but it's a sad
- 0:22Speaker 2: day for me because not only did the White Sox
- 0:25Speaker 2: just not show up the last two games, including their pitching,
- 0:27Speaker 2: which walked a ton of guys, and they also apparently
- 0:31Speaker 2: put holes in their bats because they just started striking.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Out a bunch. But Mike Ditka passed away, so a
- 0:38Speaker 1: sad day.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Ditka, if you haven't seen it, kids, Google Ditka Saturday
- 0:42Speaker 2: Night Live.
- 0:43Speaker 1: The Bears. Who would win? An army of giants or Ditka?
- 0:46Speaker 1: And it would always be Ditka. The coach.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Led the Bears to the 85 Super Bowl. One of
- 0:52Speaker 2: the great teams of all time. Went for that damn
- 0:54Speaker 2: Dan Marino. They would have gone undefeated and broke the
- 0:58Speaker 2: 72 Dolphins whole thing. But, yeah, if you're from Chicago,
- 1:01Speaker 2: if you've been around Chicago, you know how sad it
- 1:05Speaker 2: is that Mike Ditka has passed away. So prayers for
- 1:08Speaker 2: his family and also prayers for the White Sox season.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Chicago legends. It's sad for our generation of Chicago fans.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Ryan Sandberg, Ditka. Like, it's sad. But, man, oh, man. Like, iconic.
- 1:26Speaker 3: I wasn't even a Chicago fan. Iconic, iconic person. Ditka.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Copy.
- 1:33Speaker 3: I met him at a restaurant one time. We were
- 1:35Speaker 3: randomly there. And somebody I was playing with was like, hey,
- 1:38Speaker 3: you want to meet Ditka? I'm like, Mike Ditka?
- 1:41Speaker 1: Yes. Yes.
- 1:42Speaker 3: And he was right at the table right across from us.
- 1:44Speaker 3: I don't even remember where we were eating at, but
- 1:46Speaker 3: I guess he frequented that place often.
- 1:49Speaker 1: It was probably called Ditka's.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Ditka's, thank you.
- 1:53Speaker 2: It was probably called Ditka's. By the way, press subscribe

- 2:06Speaker 1: Ah, sadly, sadly, sadly, please subscribe.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Sadly, let's get into the game last night that was on,
- 2:11Speaker 2: the only game that was on last night. Yeah, I
- 2:15Speaker 2: don't really want to talk about it, but I guess
- 2:16Speaker 2: we have to. All smiles, I can't believe they got
- 2:25Speaker 2: me smiling, presented by Lorainco. Yeah, I don't even know
- 2:30Speaker 2: where to start. All right, I'm going to start with this.
- 2:32Speaker 2: The White Sox played two awful games at home, okay?
- 2:35Speaker 2: Both games they played terrible. They struck out 19 times,
- 2:38Speaker 2: I think, in game three. And I think they struck
- 2:40Speaker 2: out 12 times last night. They didn't play defense very well.
- 2:45Speaker 2: They didn't pitch very well. They walked a ton of
- 2:46Speaker 2: guys in both games.
- 2:49Speaker 1: It was just terrible. Will Venable came out and said
- 2:51Speaker 1: the pressure got to him. I don't know. Pressure playing
- 2:56Speaker 1: at home. which I guess is good. I don't know.
- 3:01Speaker 1: I mean, listen, what do you think? I don't know.
- 3:04Speaker 2: I don't agree with the, oh, there was pressure because
- 3:07Speaker 2: they were playing at home at all. It was just
- 3:09Speaker 2: two bad games they had after two really good games
- 3:12Speaker 2: on the road.
- 3:13Speaker 3: There's definitely pressure. To me, when you go home, the
- 3:18Speaker 3: pressure isn't there. Maybe the adrenaline got to– whatever. There's
- 3:21Speaker 3: adrenaline pressure in every game, and they were– going into
- 3:26Speaker 3: playing their games at home. Like, they'd been through it.
- 3:29Speaker 3: They felt the exact same thing. They were there. Unless
- 3:33Speaker 3: they're sitting there going, oh, yeah, come on, fans. Like,
- 3:36Speaker 3: maybe they didn't feel as much pressure. I'm not even
- 3:38Speaker 3: going to get into that because I don't think that
- 3:40Speaker 3: is at all what's going on. You have the same
- 3:42Speaker 3: feeling every game. To me, it looked like a team
- 3:46Speaker 3: that started to get a little bit exposed, but also
- 3:51Speaker 3: possibly the Guardians started to change their they started to
- 3:56Speaker 3: change their approach. The Guardians realized like we're full swinging
- 4:00Speaker 3: against Grant Taylor and the ball is not even going
- 4:03Speaker 3: to the warning track. We are going to start taking pitches,
- 4:07Speaker 3: elevating them to the opposite field. And we had, they
- 4:10Speaker 3: had a very, very distinct approach of going the opposite
- 4:14Speaker 3: way for the most part. They were reacting in, Hosey
- 4:18Speaker 3: pulled some balls. I get that. But the team was
- 4:21Speaker 3: hitting the ball hard, barreling it up. Their approach was
- 4:24Speaker 3: that up the middle opposite way, and the White Sox
- 4:27Speaker 3: never made the adjustment. The White Sox were just like, well,
- 4:30Speaker 3: I guess they're going to start chasing. It was exactly
- 4:33Speaker 3: what you tell your high school team to not do.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Strike out when you're hitting and walk guys when you're pitching. Like,
- 4:38Speaker 3: you can't win games that way.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree.
- 4:42Speaker 2: It's the worst combo. A lot of walks on your
- 4:45Speaker 2: defense and a lot of strikeouts on offense. The only
- 4:48Speaker 2: thing I will say about it, and by the way,
- 4:49Speaker 2: I don't agree with the pressure thing either. Pressure is–
- 4:52Speaker 2: from you're in the playoffs, like the pressure is the
- 4:54Speaker 2: playoffs home away. Although I will say that sometimes on
- 4:57Speaker 2: the road, you kind of get away and you kind
- 4:59Speaker 2: of band together and you're like, okay, it's us against
- 5:01Speaker 2: the world.
- 5:01Speaker 1: So that part I do understand, but like to say
- 5:04Speaker 1: the fans to my, I don't know, that just seems
- 5:06Speaker 1: like a bad mentality to me, but what do I know?
- 5:07Speaker 1: I'm just a TV guy that hates everybody.
- 5:10Speaker 2: So the one good thing I will say, if you're
- 5:14Speaker 2: a White Sox fan, like I am is, You made
- 5:16Speaker 2: the Guardians use all their pitching. And I don't understand.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I just don't understand some of the moves. Maybe you
- 5:22Speaker 2: understand them a little better than I do. I love
- 5:25Speaker 2: Steven Vogt, okay? Steven Vogt, two-time manager of the year.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Got a shot at a three-time manager of the year.
- 5:32Speaker 2: My question is, as I look at this box score, okay,
- 5:36Speaker 2: you have a five-run lead going into the ninth inning.
- 5:39Speaker 2: It's nine to four. Why is your closer up in
- 5:43Speaker 2: the eighth?
- 5:43Speaker 1: Why is your closer in the game in the eighth
- 5:44Speaker 1: inning after he pitched two innings the game before? Where
- 5:47Speaker 1: is Espino? Where is, I don't know.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Anybody else on your roster that can pitch?
- 5:55Speaker 1: Anybody, okay?
- 5:56Speaker 2: Because my question is, You trust Espino to start game three,
- 6:00Speaker 2: a game you have to win, instead of starting Foster Griffin.
- 6:03Speaker 1: But you won't pitch him with a five-run lead going
- 6:06Speaker 1: into the eighth inning. At least get through the eighth.
- 6:08Speaker 2: If someone gets in trouble, maybe get an out or two,
- 6:10Speaker 2: and then you can bring Cade Smith in to finish.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Instead of having him try to pitch two innings back-to-back.
- 6:16Speaker 1: And he looked tired. He looked worn out in the
- 6:18Speaker 1: second inning. He was, like, huffing and puffing. And then
- 6:20Speaker 1: they had to bring in big rig.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Gavin Williams for the ninth and throw 18 pitches when
- 6:25Speaker 2: he's supposed to start?
- 6:27Speaker 1: Game five, like I don't understand. And I say this
- 6:31Speaker 1: all the time.
- 6:31Speaker 2: It's almost like managers have toys in their toy chest
- 6:35Speaker 2: down there.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Like Tanner Bybee's never pitched in the postseason. or out
- 6:38Speaker 1: of the bullpen.
- 6:38Speaker 2: You throw him in in a close game in the
- 6:40Speaker 2: postseason and say, go get him. He comes out and
- 6:42Speaker 2: walks two guys, hits a guy, and the White Sox
- 6:44Speaker 2: take the lead. So, I mean, I was happy as
- 6:46Speaker 2: a White Sox fan. I'm like, yeah, let's leave this
- 6:48Speaker 2: dude out there. But it's almost like managers have all
- 6:51Speaker 2: these tools in their toolkit out there, and they're like,
- 6:53Speaker 2: I have to use him. If I don't use him, Kratz,
- 6:55Speaker 2: then everyone's going to ask, why didn't I use everybody?
- 6:57Speaker 2: I don't know. Sometimes I'm just like, why? You don't
- 7:01Speaker 2: have to use guys.
- 7:03Speaker 3: I thought the Tanner Bybee thing was a little bit pushed,
- 7:07Speaker 3: like he tried– Can we get three outs? Can we
- 7:10Speaker 3: get six outs from him? To me, the whole Cade
- 7:14Speaker 3: Smith in the eighth was 100% pushed. Why he didn't
- 7:17Speaker 3: like bringing Gavin Williams out in the ninth happened because
- 7:21Speaker 3: Cade Smith pitched the eighth because Cade Smith had to
- 7:24Speaker 3: throw 34 pitches the night before. Then he gets 31.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Now he's 65 pitches in two days. A starter throws
- 7:30Speaker 3: 65 pitches, Parker Messick, and he's done for the next
- 7:33Speaker 3: five days. Cade Smith has to pitch again today. I
- 7:37Speaker 3: get it. You can't win– or, I mean, tomorrow. Like,
- 7:40Speaker 3: you can't win without winning today's game, without winning each inning.
- 7:45Speaker 3: I get that. But 100% agree with you. Nine to four,
- 7:50Speaker 3: I want to see Espino give up two home runs
- 7:54Speaker 3: before I have Cade Smith even warming up in the bullpen.
- 7:58Speaker 3: I have a mound visit. He throws six pitches. He's
- 8:01Speaker 3: got the next hitter. And then the Gavin Williams thing–
- 8:05Speaker 3: I watched Voter's interview, and he said, I didn't want
- 8:09Speaker 3: to bring him in with the tying run on base.
- 8:13Speaker 3: And I was like, wow. When you're thinking ahead of time,
- 8:17Speaker 3: that's way ahead. You got a five-run lead, and you're
- 8:20Speaker 3: thinking about the tying run on base. I'm like, holy cow,
- 8:23Speaker 3: a lot's got to happen. And I get it. Dinger,
- 8:26Speaker 3: ball through the hole by Antonacci, runner on. I get that. But, man,
- 8:32Speaker 3: they set themselves up. to not be in as good
- 8:36Speaker 3: of a spot for game five.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I mean, ask, ask the Braves, even if they win
- 8:41Speaker 2: game five, how will it affect their pitching going forward?
- 8:44Speaker 2: Ask Chris sale when he had to pitch that inning
- 8:45Speaker 2: and the Philly series, then he couldn't pitch till game three.
- 8:49Speaker 2: So I don't, I also never want to hear that
- 8:52Speaker 2: it's a side day because it's not the same intensity.
- 8:54Speaker 2: If you've ever watched a big leaguer throw a side day,
- 8:57Speaker 2: it's not even close to that intensity. I mean, they're
- 8:59Speaker 2: just kind of touching and feeling and all that stuff.
- 9:01Speaker 1: So, uh, I don't know. Whatever.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Listen, the Guardians won. I tip my cap to the Guardians.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Game five is tomorrow.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Night.
- 9:14Speaker 2: I mean, I'm still obviously thinking the White Sox pull
- 9:16Speaker 2: this out and I want to see them in Tampa
- 9:18Speaker 2: on Monday night, but it just got a lot tougher.
- 9:21Speaker 2: And also, by the way, I mean, the pitching chaos
- 9:24Speaker 2: that A.J. Hinch called it, that the White Sox are
- 9:26Speaker 2: now trying to use the opener is cute and all that,
- 9:28Speaker 2: but So far in this series, you've had the one
- 9:30Speaker 2: guy who's been probably the most dominant pitcher, and that's
- 9:33Speaker 2: Sean Burke. Can we just let Sean Burke start the game?
- 9:35Speaker 2: Are we going to try the Hagen-Smith trick? Are we
- 9:38Speaker 2: going to try the Anthony Kaye trick? Are we going
- 9:39Speaker 2: to try Sean Newcomb again? Can we just let Sean
- 9:43Speaker 2: Burke go out there and start the game? Because he's
- 9:44Speaker 2: going to have to throw four or five innings anyways.
- 9:47Speaker 2: And also, bringing in Grant Taylor in the sixth and seventh,
- 9:50Speaker 2: That's not working anymore either.
- 9:51Speaker 1: He's the closer. Let him come in with the lead
- 9:54Speaker 1: in the ninth.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I know certain people are like, you can't go down
- 9:56Speaker 2: without using your best pitcher. Yeah, but when you use
- 9:58Speaker 2: him in the sixth, that means you've got to cover
- 10:00Speaker 2: two to three more innings later with not your best pitcher.
- 10:03Speaker 3: We were in the wildcard game, I don't know if
- 10:07Speaker 3: you remember, back in 2014 with the Royals. And it
- 10:10Speaker 3: was a one-run game, and they brought in, and Ned
- 10:13Speaker 3: Yost brought in Jordano Ventura out of the bullpen. We
- 10:16Speaker 3: had just a cavalcade of bullpen guys. that had pitched
- 10:21Speaker 3: in the bullpen that were starters and had pitched out
- 10:23Speaker 3: of the bullpen. The only person that had never pitched
- 10:26Speaker 3: out of the bullpen was your Donna Ventura. But he
- 10:28Speaker 3: was like, he throws really hard and he throws a
- 10:31Speaker 3: fastball really hard. And that was the beginning. That postseason
- 10:35Speaker 3: was the beginning of when they, you know, we had
- 10:39Speaker 3: an incredible bullpen with Holland Herrera and Davis. And it
- 10:43Speaker 3: was like, you went to the one guy that probably
- 10:48Speaker 3: should have been pitching in the 11th and 12th innings
- 10:52Speaker 3: of that 14 inning game. Like to me, I just,
- 10:57Speaker 3: I'm not second guessing the decisions. I'm just wondering where
- 11:00Speaker 3: the decisions came from to get you to that point
- 11:04Speaker 3: of saying five runs, not quite enough. We're going to
- 11:09Speaker 3: use Smith. Like, I just, it just felt, it just
- 11:14Speaker 3: felt weird. It didn't feel like I knew what was happening.
- 11:17Speaker 3: And I want everybody to clip what Steven Vogt said.
- 11:21Speaker 3: He said in the third inning, what got ripped up, AJ?
- 11:25Speaker 1: Script.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Oh, that tells me there was a script. Yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm trying to read the script right now. And
- 11:37Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, Parker Messick, he was expected to go
- 11:40Speaker 2: three innings, I guess. and then they mentioned Cantillo, and
- 11:44Speaker 2: then they mentioned they had Espino.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Up at one point.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I don't know what the script is. Why do we
- 11:51Speaker 2: have to have a script, Kratz? Listen, you go down
- 11:54Speaker 2: before the game and you say, okay, these are the.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Guys that are available.
- 11:57Speaker 2: This is the pockets that I'd like to use them,
- 12:00Speaker 2: and I'll mix and match however I need to, but
- 12:02Speaker 2: the script should change too as the score changes. When
- 12:05Speaker 2: you're in a tight game, you're like, okay, I need
- 12:08Speaker 2: to use my A guys. But when the game got
- 12:10Speaker 2: to like 9-3, 9-4, you should have been like, okay,
- 12:13Speaker 2: we can maybe sneak some other guys to try to
- 12:15Speaker 2: save some bullets because the White Sox saw Kate Smith again.
- 12:19Speaker 2: They saw Sabrowski again. They saw Gattis again. They saw
- 12:22Speaker 2: all these guys again, again, again, again, over and over.
- 12:25Speaker 2: They saw Gavin Williams again. Now he's probably going to
- 12:27Speaker 2: start game five. I mean, are you going into game
- 12:30Speaker 2: five if you're Steven Vogt and you're saying, all right,
- 12:31Speaker 2: we're going to start Joey Cantillo. We're going to start
- 12:34Speaker 2: Espino again because that went so well. It's the same
- 12:37Speaker 2: for the White Sox, though. The Guardians have now seen
- 12:39Speaker 2: Grant Taylor a bunch. They saw Fetty a bunch. They've
- 12:42Speaker 2: seen Jordan Hicks a bunch. They've seen all these guys.
- 12:44Speaker 2: They've seen Brian Hudson a bunch, right? They've seen all
- 12:48Speaker 2: these guys. They've seen Anthony Kaye a ton. They've seen
- 12:50Speaker 2: Hagan Smith a ton now, right? So they've seen all
- 12:52Speaker 2: these guys in these four games. It just gets to
- 12:55Speaker 2: be a better look and the bats get better and
- 12:57Speaker 2: better and better because they know what they're looking for.
- 13:00Speaker 3: And obviously I've never been a manager, but I've been
- 13:03Speaker 3: in the dugout when they're making big decisions about big games.
- 13:09Speaker 3: And I get it. You got to win today, but
- 13:12Speaker 3: the fact that some of your decisions tonight are going
- 13:16Speaker 3: to affect tomorrow night and are also going to affect
- 13:19Speaker 3: the next series, which you're trying to win. That's, I
- 13:23Speaker 3: don't know that that is always determined or decided. And another,
- 13:27Speaker 3: another yet Ned Yost story game six of the world series.
- 13:32Speaker 3: We're beating the giants. We're beating the brakes off the
- 13:34Speaker 3: giants 10 to one or something like that. And they
- 13:37Speaker 3: put Tim Collins in lefty through a banger and, a
- 13:41Speaker 3: speedball and he's in the game and 10 to one
- 13:45Speaker 3: game and a runner gets on. And I saw Ned
- 13:48Speaker 3: Yost look over at his pseudo bench coach, which wasn't
- 13:52Speaker 3: really his bench coach and Pedro go fall and goes, Hey,
- 13:56Speaker 3: if something, or Pedro looked at Ned and goes, Hey,
- 13:58Speaker 3: if somebody gets on here, what do you think? Should
- 14:01Speaker 3: we get somebody up?
- 14:01Speaker 1: And he goes, yeah.
- 14:03Speaker 3: He goes, get Kelvin Herrera up and, and walk Wakamatsu,
- 14:09Speaker 3: Don Wakamatsu goes, What? He goes, it's 10 to 1.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Let's save him. Let's throw somebody else. But it was panic,
- 14:17Speaker 3: like go right to Herrera. So I think there's some
- 14:20Speaker 3: panic and leaning on who you usually go to. Yeah.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Well, you're supposed to have a script to this or
- 14:29Speaker 2: that or blah, blah, blah. But when it gets blown up,
- 14:31Speaker 2: sometimes you have to just think. And Stephen Vogt's a
- 14:33Speaker 2: smart guy. Carl Willis has been there for a long time.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Do you think the White Sox script got blown up
- 14:39Speaker 2: when Hagan Smith couldn't throw a strike in the first inning?
- 14:41Speaker 2: It got blown up, but then Fetty came out and
- 14:43Speaker 2: did a nice job, right? Also, why did the White
- 14:45Speaker 2: Sox not take Fetty out after he kind of adrenaline-dumped,
- 14:48Speaker 2: threw the ball into the stands after that big inning
- 14:50Speaker 2: with a double play he had to cover first, and
- 14:52Speaker 2: he was all fired up? Usually you take a guy
- 14:54Speaker 2: out after that. I thought Ron Darling did a nice
- 14:56Speaker 2: job talking about that, and then the next inning is
- 14:59Speaker 2: when they gave up all the runs.
- 15:00Speaker 1: So I don't know. I don't know.
- 15:02Speaker 2: I mean, listen, I'm not in the trenches with these guys.
- 15:05Speaker 2: I don't know what's going on, but, man, I really
- 15:07Speaker 2: would like to see a starting pitching matchup like we're
- 15:09Speaker 2: going to see in the NLCS, like, Scooble versus Miz,
- 15:13Speaker 2: you know, Henderson versus Snell or Yamamoto, like instead of
- 15:18Speaker 2: opener versus opener and let's hurry up and get to
- 15:20Speaker 2: the bullpen as fast as humanly possible because he might
- 15:22Speaker 2: be better, but he might suck. And then we're going
- 15:24Speaker 2: to bring in somebody else who might suck.
- 15:25Speaker 1: So I don't know. Anyways, we don't have enough time
- 15:29Speaker 1: to get into it. But anyways, baseball fans, it's time
- 15:31Speaker 1: to lock in. Oh, here we go.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Sarah Langs and postseason history teams playing winner take all
- 15:35Speaker 2: games in their home ballpark have gone 70 and 68.
- 15:38Speaker 1: 19 and 22 in the division series. So you know what?
- 15:40Speaker 1: It matters. Nothing. Not as nothing. Not a damn thing.
- 15:44Speaker 1: It doesn't matter. It's basically 500. So, yeah, it doesn't matter. Thanks, sir.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Baseball fans, it's time to lock in. Lorraine Co.

- 16:04Speaker 3: I mean, it sucks.
- 16:06Speaker 1: You know, you want to do that for the fans and....
- 16:10Speaker 2: We all wanted it so bad for the fans, but
- 16:12Speaker 2: the series is so far from over, and we're still
- 16:15Speaker 2: in a great spot.
- 16:16Speaker 4: I know every guy, like I said, will have their
- 16:19Speaker 4: jersey on in the bullpen ready to throw. Whether they
- 16:22Speaker 4: feel good, they feel bad. This hitting core has been
- 16:26Speaker 4: just pests at the plate. They've made them work hard,
- 16:31Speaker 4: and I believe they'll do a good job of scoring
- 16:35Speaker 4: some runs when we go back to Cleveland and our
- 16:37Speaker 4: pitchers are going to come out and execute and get
- 16:38Speaker 4: it done.
- 16:40Speaker 3: We turned a page, but we lost.
- 16:43Speaker 1: So we'll turn three pages.
- 16:47Speaker 3: And hopefully win on Saturday.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Hopefully win. Hopefully win, by the way. Just hopefully win.
- 16:56Speaker 2: How about we're going to win on Saturday? I mean,
- 16:58Speaker 2: hopefully is, I mean, I guess it's probably the proper terminology,
- 17:02Speaker 2: but if I'm Sam Antonacci, I'm like, oh, we're going
- 17:04Speaker 2: to win.
- 17:04Speaker 1: We're going in there. We're kicking their ass on Saturday.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Put Bolton-Bormans here. Put bulletin board material up there.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Who cares?
- 17:10Speaker 2: It's the playoffs, man. It's a division rival, someone you
- 17:14Speaker 2: play all the time. I remember we were in the
- 17:17Speaker 2: Padres clubhouse, and David Ortiz said that the Padres were done,
- 17:20Speaker 2: and they kind of had David Ortiz's picture everywhere, right?
- 17:22Speaker 1: It didn't work. It didn't matter. Dude, if you need
- 17:24Speaker 1: bulletin board material in the playoffs, sorry. That ain't it.
- 17:31Speaker 3: I mean, we got to ask Max. He's in it
- 17:33Speaker 3: right now. Yeah, I don't know. Bulletin board material to
- 17:38Speaker 3: get up for the playoffs? I don't know. I don't know.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Maybe it blips other people's radars.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Maybe. I don't know. I don't know. And by the way,
- 17:52Speaker 1: I love that– who is it? Anthony Kastrovitz. He wrote
- 17:56Speaker 1: The Razor. This has been a great game for The Rays,
- 17:58Speaker 1: which he's not wrong.
- 17:59Speaker 2: The Rays want– The Rays want the White Sox and
- 18:02Speaker 2: Guardians on Saturday to play 100 innings and pitch everybody, okay,
- 18:07Speaker 2: from position players to guys that haven't even been drafted
- 18:10Speaker 2: yet to guys in the minor leagues, guys.
- 18:12Speaker 1: That have retired.
- 18:13Speaker 2: They want both teams. They want Charles Nagy to come back.
- 18:17Speaker 2: They want Mark Burley to come back. They want Roberto
- 18:20Speaker 2: Hernandez to come back and close it for the Whites.
- 18:22Speaker 2: They want everybody to pitch multiple innings and just wear
- 18:25Speaker 2: them down. They're just sitting back there going, and by
- 18:28Speaker 2: the way, Russ versus Raskratz, You know what team has
- 18:31Speaker 2: won all three Division Series games?
- 18:34Speaker 1: All three Division Series?
- 18:36Speaker 3: No.
- 18:37Speaker 1: The team that had the bye. The team that had
- 18:39Speaker 1: the bye. Yeah, so that's weird.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Are they going to bring back Fausto Carmona too?
- 18:47Speaker 1: Roberto Hernandez, by the way.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Fausto Carmona. No, that's not his name.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I have yet to talk to a pitcher. J.J.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Cooper said this. He's definitely a bird word nerd, whatever
- 18:57Speaker 2: that thing says in that commercial.
- 18:58Speaker 1: He is.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Gas guy he's not a gas guy though i have
- 19:01Speaker 2: yet to talk to a pitcher who thought a side
- 19:03Speaker 2: session and pitching in a loss in a lose and
- 19:06Speaker 2: your season is over ninth inning we're similar as far
- 19:10Speaker 2: as workload and stress jj thank you for saying that
- 19:12Speaker 2: i believe kratz and i totally 1 million percent agree
- 19:15Speaker 2: with this there is no comparison i need to take
- 19:17Speaker 2: this dodger hat off because brewer fans already hate me
- 19:20Speaker 2: for thinking that all i wanted to do was talk
- 19:22Speaker 2: about the padres so i'm just going to take my
- 19:25Speaker 2: dodger hat off because i'm just so sad that the
- 19:28Speaker 2: padres lost even though i picked the brewers to win
- 19:30Speaker 2: that series so yes i really was rooting for the padres.
- 19:34Speaker 3: I got i got texts from people from milwaukee who
- 19:36Speaker 3: were like tell your guy aj on the show he's
- 19:39Speaker 3: got to hate he's got to stop hating on the
- 19:41Speaker 3: brewers like all his people are just all about the
- 19:44Speaker 3: padres so i sent him the clip of when we
- 19:47Speaker 3: talked about it when you and Wano talked about it
- 19:49Speaker 3: in your screenshot of your Twitter, your DMs and Twitter.
- 19:55Speaker 3: It was great. I was like, bro, watch the game.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Don't be such a fan. Actually listen to what they're saying.
- 20:01Speaker 3: What do you want them to do? Talk about it?
- 20:04Speaker 3: Manny Machado, when somebody made a great catch on him. No,
- 20:06Speaker 3: you're going to talk about the person that made the
- 20:08Speaker 3: great catch. And then you're going to talk about the
- 20:09Speaker 3: next story. Like, stop.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Stop.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Listen to the game.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Anyways, yeah.
- 20:15Speaker 2: But just know that Gavin Williams pitched in the ninth
- 20:18Speaker 2: inning and threw 18 pitches. And now we don't even
- 20:21Speaker 2: know if he's starting game five. It's just a side session.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Yeah, totally.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Totally a side session when he was out there just
- 20:27Speaker 2: pumping 3-2 curveballs to try to get out of the
- 20:30Speaker 2: inning as hard as he could throw.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Same as a side session.
- 20:34Speaker 2: And by the way, can we just let everyone know
- 20:37Speaker 2: who's starting? It's become almost a let's wait until the
- 20:40Speaker 2: last second. You know, Guardians, TBD, White Sox, TBD. And then,
- 20:45Speaker 2: you know, as a broadcaster, you're sitting there going, man,
- 20:49Speaker 2: I can't get a lineup until two hours before the
- 20:51Speaker 2: game because nobody will tell who the pitcher is.
- 20:53Speaker 1: So can we just put it out to try to
- 20:55Speaker 1: get a little hype for game five? Thank you.
- 20:58Speaker 3: I think the Guardians situation is different in this case,
- 21:00Speaker 3: but I agree. Yeah, that's what he said.
- 21:03Speaker 1: That's what he said. That's what he said.
- 21:06Speaker 5: That's what he said.
- 21:11Speaker 1: All right, that's what he said.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Anthony Rizzo, he's been on TV a lot this year.
- 21:16Speaker 2: He's been talking a lot about the Yankees recently, and
- 21:19Speaker 2: he had some interesting comments about Yankees and their people.
- 21:23Speaker 1: In the clubhouse.
- 21:24Speaker 2: I don't even know where to go with this crap
- 21:28Speaker 2: because he was doing a podcast with David Ross and
- 21:30Speaker 2: They were talking about the Yankees, and the Yankees obviously
- 21:32Speaker 2: got swept by the Rays. Jazz Chisholm had some interesting comments.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Judge had some comments. Everybody has comments because it's the Yankees.
- 21:39Speaker 2: And then Rizzo throws in, everyone in this clubhouse needs
- 21:41Speaker 2: to take an F in Xanax. Your thoughts as our
- 21:44Speaker 2: Yankee insider who played for the Yankees?
- 21:48Speaker 3: Well, he said this was his impression when he got
- 21:52Speaker 3: to the team in 2021. And I was on the
- 21:55Speaker 3: team in 2020. So I feel like I knew a
- 21:57Speaker 3: lot of that team, and I couldn't disagree more with
- 22:00Speaker 3: what he said. unless I don't know how Xanax works,
- 22:03Speaker 3: because I felt like this was one of the best
- 22:07Speaker 3: teams as far as understanding and wanting to accomplish the
- 22:12Speaker 3: things that we were trying to accomplish in 2020. And
- 22:16Speaker 3: I know these guys were trying to accomplish the same
- 22:18Speaker 3: thing in 2021. I watched them lose to the Red
- 22:22Speaker 3: Sox in Fenway Park. Like, I just, I feel like
- 22:28Speaker 3: Things change. You come from different environments. And your first
- 22:31Speaker 3: impression is, you know, how many different organizations had Rizzo
- 22:36Speaker 3: played on? How many times, you know, was he in
- 22:38Speaker 3: those situations? Who was he talking about? I get kind
- 22:44Speaker 3: of what he's saying, but I don't understand where it's
- 22:47Speaker 3: coming from in the sense of, like, What made him
- 22:49Speaker 3: think that? I would love to hear his elaborate on
- 22:53Speaker 3: what he thought. And it's great that we get to
- 22:56Speaker 3: hear him talk because when he played, he didn't really
- 22:57Speaker 3: do much. He didn't come on many shows. So it's
- 23:00Speaker 3: great to hear him talk and hear his stuff that
- 23:05Speaker 3: he went through and the podcast with Dave Ross and
- 23:08Speaker 3: all that stuff that was going on while he was playing.
- 23:12Speaker 1: True.
- 23:12Speaker 2: By the way, we have those comments. So let's hear
- 23:14Speaker 2: from Anthony Rizzo himself. We don't have to paraphrase. We
- 23:17Speaker 2: can hear from Anthony himself.
- 23:19Speaker 5: The first time I got traded, or to me, I
- 23:21Speaker 5: hadn't heard this, from Chicago, right?
- 23:23Speaker 3: We go to Miami.
- 23:24Speaker 5: The motions are high. I get to the Marlins Park,
- 23:30Speaker 5: and it's an interleague game. So they're asking me, right
- 23:35Speaker 5: when I get there, they start asking me all these
- 23:36Speaker 5: questions about bunt defense, this and that, my style. And
- 23:40Speaker 5: I go, literally the first thing in my head I
- 23:42Speaker 5: go is, yo, everyone in this clubhouse needs to take
- 23:44Speaker 5: a f * * * ing Xanax.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Okay, so maybe he didn't mean the players. Maybe he
- 23:50Speaker 3: meant the coaches.
- 23:52Speaker 2: That was probably coaches and players, but everyone was just trying. Listen,
- 23:55Speaker 2: you've switched teams in the middle of the year. The
- 23:57Speaker 2: first thing they ask you is, how do you like
- 23:59Speaker 2: to hit? How do you like to get prepared for pitchers?
- 24:01Speaker 2: Do you need anything in the training room? It's a whirlwind,
- 24:04Speaker 2: especially in the middle of the season. They just throw
- 24:06Speaker 2: stuff at you, and you're like, okay, I need to
- 24:08Speaker 2: learn everyone's name. Can everyone put a name tag on
- 24:10Speaker 2: because I want to learn everybody's name? They don't need
- 24:13Speaker 2: a Xanax. They just were trying to make you as
- 24:15Speaker 2: comfortable as possible. They're asking you about defense because they
- 24:18Speaker 2: know you're one of the best. And you want to
- 24:21Speaker 2: they want to know how they're going to run their
- 24:22Speaker 2: defense around you. And and, you know, this and that.
- 24:25Speaker 3: What do you like?
- 24:25Speaker 1: That's just the way it is when you get traded.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Maybe it's a little more hyped in New York just
- 24:29Speaker 2: because you're the Yankees.
- 24:30Speaker 1: But I don't know. I didn't think there was.
- 24:32Speaker 2: I mean, I know the one time I switched teams
- 24:33Speaker 2: in the middle of the year, I showed up at
- 24:34Speaker 2: the Cardinals and they were asking me a million questions.
- 24:37Speaker 2: And I'm playing that day and I'm like, dude, I'm
- 24:38Speaker 2: just trying to get prepped for the game. What's your
- 24:40Speaker 2: who are you again?
- 24:40Speaker 1: What's your name? Like, I don't know.
- 24:43Speaker 3: It's a real thing. And you talk about a guy
- 24:45Speaker 3: that was in Chicago for a long time getting traded.
- 24:48Speaker 3: going to a team that has aspirations of winning. Like
- 24:51Speaker 3: it's not like he's going to a team that's like, Hey,
- 24:53Speaker 3: we picked you up on waivers. We're going to kind
- 24:55Speaker 3: of fill in for a little bit. Like you're thrust
- 24:57Speaker 3: right into the, right into the game. So coaches are
- 25:00Speaker 3: trying to not just catch you up, but catch themselves
- 25:04Speaker 3: up because you can go out and play a game.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Like the game's going to, the lights are going to
- 25:08Speaker 3: turn on and you're going to be like, okay, I've
- 25:10Speaker 3: done this before where the coaches are like, well, we
- 25:12Speaker 3: want to get the most out of you. We want
- 25:14Speaker 3: to make sure that we're putting you in the best situation.
- 25:17Speaker 3: I got traded to the, I got traded to so
- 25:18Speaker 3: many teams in the middle of the season that I
- 25:21Speaker 3: got stories on stories on stories to the point where
- 25:24Speaker 3: the Pirates, I got traded to the Pirates, and I
- 25:27Speaker 3: was in AAA in Fresno playing the Astros in Fresno
- 25:33Speaker 3: and flew across the country, got to the game at
- 25:36Speaker 3: 730 that started at 7, and the one coach was like, hey,
- 25:39Speaker 3: I want you to sit down and watch all of
- 25:41Speaker 3: our relievers so that you can get a night. I'm like,
- 25:44Speaker 3: the game is going on. Like I missed the first
- 25:48Speaker 3: inning and a half seventh inning. I come in and
- 25:51Speaker 3: I got to catch a Camerino. I think his name
- 25:55Speaker 3: was Aristides. I don't remember. It was a long name.
- 25:59Speaker 3: He was like six, seven. And I'm running out. I'm
- 26:02Speaker 3: running up the steps to go fill in for Chris Stewart,
- 26:05Speaker 3: who had banged up his ankle and couldn't finish the game.
- 26:09Speaker 3: And I had to figure out, I go, Hey, what
- 26:11Speaker 3: does he throw? They go 99 with sink and a splitter.
- 26:16Speaker 3: And I'm like, Sweet. Good luck. I didn't even know
- 26:19Speaker 3: how to say his name. It was one of those
- 26:20Speaker 3: things like if everybody around you is freaking out, as
- 26:25Speaker 3: a player, you've got to get yourself in the exact
- 26:27Speaker 3: same spot that you are every other time you're playing. True, true.
- 26:33Speaker 1: He also had some other comments on other things.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Let's hear some more about here. Yankees move says Rizzo
- 26:42Speaker 2: ripped apart the Yankees organization on his Ross and Rizzo podcast.
- 26:46Speaker 2: It's the same thing every single year. If you talk
- 26:48Speaker 2: to people there, they almost think it's insanity. It's the
- 26:50Speaker 2: definition of insanity if you think it's going to change.
- 26:52Speaker 2: They don't win. They can't beat the good teams. That's
- 26:55Speaker 2: how it's been year after year. We got to the
- 26:57Speaker 2: World Series in 2024 and stabbed ourselves in the gut
- 27:00Speaker 2: multiple times. He also said the Yankees should acquire a
- 27:02Speaker 2: contact-oriented bat, says Jazz Chisholm's postgame comments make him look
- 27:06Speaker 2: lost as a player, and that the Yankees don't earn
- 27:08Speaker 2: the right to say World Series or bust, and agree
- 27:10Speaker 2: with David Ross that change can be a good thing.
- 27:13Speaker 2: That's a lot to digest in there. It's kind of
- 27:16Speaker 2: what everyone says in the media all the time about
- 27:18Speaker 2: the Yankees is they won't change.
- 27:19Speaker 1: They're analytic driven. How hard do you hit it? How
- 27:21Speaker 1: hard do you throw it?
- 27:22Speaker 2: And they don't have a ton of good baseball players,
- 27:24Speaker 2: but they make the playoffs every year and they usually
- 27:27Speaker 2: make a deep run. This time they got whacked by
- 27:28Speaker 2: the Rays. Jazz Chisholm, he just says whatever. Sometimes I
- 27:32Speaker 2: don't even know what he's talking about. Can't understand why
- 27:35Speaker 2: he gets booed because you didn't play very well, Jazz.
- 27:37Speaker 2: That's why you get booed. And if you don't play
- 27:39Speaker 2: very well in a place like New York, you get booed. Yeah,
- 27:42Speaker 2: Anthony Rizzo said, Jazz Chisholm Jr. looks like a player
- 27:44Speaker 2: who's lost after questioning why Yankee fans are booing him.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I don't think he looks lost.
- 27:48Speaker 2: I just think he– it makes you look kind of–
- 27:52Speaker 2: I don't even know what the word is, but when
- 27:54Speaker 2: you don't know.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Why you're getting booed, you're not getting– you're getting booed
- 27:56Speaker 1: because you didn't play very well.
- 27:57Speaker 2: So, yeah, and then as far as change can be
- 28:00Speaker 2: a good thing, absolutely it can, but what change are
- 28:03Speaker 2: they going to make? They're not getting rid of Judge.
- 28:04Speaker 2: They're not getting rid of Stanton. They're not getting rid
- 28:05Speaker 2: of a lot of the players that they have there. So,
- 28:08Speaker 2: if they can make some tweaks, yes, but big change
- 28:10Speaker 2: ain't coming for the Yankees.
- 28:11Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 28:13Speaker 3: I don't think it needs to. They won 93 games. Yes,
- 28:16Speaker 3: you can drop the line that American League is terrible, blah, blah, blah.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Here's what I'm saying. And I said it the other day,
- 28:23Speaker 3: and I'll keep saying it. You know who changed and
- 28:26Speaker 3: has now won three World Series in the last six seasons?
- 28:31Speaker 3: The Dodgers. Max Muncy came on here and said, we
- 28:34Speaker 3: had to make a change. They didn't change their entire roster.
- 28:38Speaker 3: They changed how they approached the playoffs. They changed how
- 28:41Speaker 3: they approached those at-bats because it wasn't quite the same.
- 28:45Speaker 3: What does that mean? I can't tell you. I can't
- 28:48Speaker 3: tell you what it means tomorrow night for the White
- 28:52Speaker 3: Sox-Guardians elimination game because that answer is not going to
- 28:56Speaker 3: be the same as it's going to be for the
- 28:58Speaker 3: Mizorowski-Skubel game on Sunday. Each game, you have to be
- 29:05Speaker 3: able to make changes. And when I say the Yankees,
- 29:09Speaker 3: you know, change is it's not at the manager. It's
- 29:12Speaker 3: not a general manager. It's really not even the players.
- 29:15Speaker 3: I love a lot of the players. It's about the
- 29:19Speaker 3: approach in certain situations. What does that look like? Do
- 29:23Speaker 3: I give it everything I have to be able to
- 29:25Speaker 3: get the job done in that moment? For Aaron Judge
- 29:29Speaker 3: to get the job done in that moment, it's hitting
- 29:31Speaker 3: a dinger. For Giancarlo off the bench in that moment,
- 29:35Speaker 3: it's hitting a dinger. You put Ryan McCann in the
- 29:38Speaker 3: game for defense. he gets in that bat. What does
- 29:41Speaker 3: he got to do? He's got to figure out how
- 29:43Speaker 3: to get that job done. I think they have contact-oriented guys.
- 29:47Speaker 3: I think since 2021, when Rizzo was talking about it,
- 29:51Speaker 3: they've become more athletic. They didn't re-sign Rizzo for whatever
- 29:54Speaker 3: money he wanted to re-sign for They said, you know what,
- 29:57Speaker 3: we have an athletic backup first baseman, and Cody Bellinger
- 30:00Speaker 3: is going to play the outfield, and they're more athletic.
- 30:04Speaker 3: They're 100%. That was a knock. So if you think
- 30:07Speaker 3: the Yankees aren't going to change, I strongly disagree. This
- 30:10Speaker 3: organization has changed. They just haven't reached the pinnacle yet,
- 30:14Speaker 3: and that's where they need to keep refining it.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Hi, Max the Bald Eagle from Marathon here.
- 30:20Speaker 3: We asked people if they could do an impression of me.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Have a listen. You can save up to a dollar
- 30:36Speaker 3: a gallon with the Marathon Rewards app. That last one
- 30:40Speaker 3: was pretty good. Marathon, where fun runs on full.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Available at participating Marathon locations. Terms and conditions apply.
- 30:45Speaker 3: See MarathonRewards.com for details.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Mark Bowman, 23 different MLB players have logged at least
- 30:52Speaker 2: 20 plate appearances this postseason. Five of the seven lowest
- 30:55Speaker 2: OPS marks have been produced by Braves. Austin Riley, Mauricio Dubon,
- 30:59Speaker 2: Matt Olsen, Ronald Acuna Jr., and Drake Baldwin. Okay, to
- 31:04Speaker 2: be fair, Mark, they also faced Scooble, Snell, Yamamoto, Glassnow, Sanchez, Nola,
- 31:11Speaker 2: and who was the other guy for the Phillies?
- 31:13Speaker 3: Johan Duran.
- 31:14Speaker 1: And Lozardo.
- 31:16Speaker 2: So they didn't exactly face guys B starters. They faced six,
- 31:21Speaker 2: about six out of those seven guys, You could throw
- 31:25Speaker 2: into Cy Young, either Cy Young candidacy this year, have
- 31:29Speaker 2: won a Cy Young, or are going to finish in
- 31:31Speaker 2: the top five in Cy Young. And I think even
- 31:34Speaker 2: Aaron Nola probably finished in the top ten at some
- 31:36Speaker 2: point in his career of a Cy Young voting. So
- 31:38Speaker 2: it hasn't exactly been easy for the Braves. They faced
- 31:41Speaker 2: a lot of really good pitching. The funny part is
- 31:43Speaker 2: the Braves didn't give up a ton of runs either.
- 31:45Speaker 2: They just didn't score any runs.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Yeah, they didn't. Carlos Lee one time said, he goes,
- 31:52Speaker 3: He looks at Lance Berkman and he goes, where are
- 31:55Speaker 3: all the dudes that aren't throwing 100 miles an hour?
- 32:00Speaker 3: And Lance Berkman goes, they're on our team when the
- 32:02Speaker 3: Astros weren't very good. You know what? The Braves weren't
- 32:06Speaker 3: throwing out all those dudes in the starting rotation. So
- 32:10Speaker 3: they look across there and they're like, this is who
- 32:13Speaker 3: we're got. You're grinding it out. You're grinding it out
- 32:15Speaker 3: in the playoffs. Yes, they were historically bad. And these
- 32:19Speaker 3: five names, historically bad. I get that. But there's other teams,
- 32:24Speaker 3: like a lot of guys are struggling because all you're
- 32:26Speaker 3: facing is the best of the best right now. Show
- 32:30Speaker 3: me the guy that's not struggling. And this, all these numbers,
- 32:34Speaker 3: Brewers fans, you better just, you better recognize this is
- 32:37Speaker 3: what you're coming into. Brewers fans are not facing Michael
- 32:41Speaker 3: King and the other starters that they're facing. Like this
- 32:44Speaker 3: is going to be a challenge challenge because the Dodgers
- 32:48Speaker 3: are a really good pitching team.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Kratz hates the Brewers. Kratz hates the Brewers. Let's just
- 32:54Speaker 2: throw that out there right now that Kratz hates the Brewers.
- 32:56Speaker 1: He just said it. He said they have no chance
- 32:58Speaker 1: in this series. So, Brewer fans, attack Kratz. Thank you.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Yeah, Brewers are really good, though. They're contact-oriented. They led
- 33:06Speaker 2: the league in on-base percentage this year.
- 33:08Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 33:10Speaker 2: It's going to be a hell of a series. It's
- 33:11Speaker 2: going to be one hell of a series. It's going
- 33:14Speaker 2: to be a knock-down, drag-em-out. I think this series goes deep.
- 33:16Speaker 2: It goes long.
- 33:18Speaker 1: It's not going to be a sweep like it was
- 33:19Speaker 1: last year. That's for darn sure. No.
- 33:22Speaker 3: No, and that's what I'm talking about. The Brewers are
- 33:24Speaker 3: going to need to change. We just talked about the
- 33:26Speaker 3: Yankees needing to change. The Brewers are going to need
- 33:28Speaker 3: to change, and the Dodgers pitching is going to need
- 33:30Speaker 3: to change because they're not going to strike out.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Hot corner. Here we go. Hot corner. Hot corner.
- 33:43Speaker 2: It's hot in here, and these takes are hot, and
- 33:46Speaker 2: some of them are really not very good, but hey, MLB.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Is a proposal to the Players Association.
- 33:51Speaker 2: To try to get them to think that they don't
- 33:54Speaker 2: care about a salary cap and want to take other stuff.
- 33:56Speaker 2: MLB proposes return to 154-game regular season. Seven-game division series.
- 34:01Speaker 2: I'm here for that because that's more games I get
- 34:03Speaker 2: to do in the playoffs. And opponent selection. Okay, first
- 34:06Speaker 2: of all, I'm going to start with the 154-game schedule.
- 34:11Speaker 2: It started in 1962, I believe. They went to 162 games.
- 34:15Speaker 2: It was 154. They want to go to the minor
- 34:18Speaker 2: league schedule of a game off a week, Kratz. So
- 34:20Speaker 2: I guess they get like every Monday off. To me,
- 34:23Speaker 2: that's dumb for sports, for the sport. Why do you
- 34:26Speaker 2: want to have a day where there's no teams playing
- 34:28Speaker 2: on every day.
- 34:29Speaker 1: For a week?
- 34:30Speaker 3: Why? Why do you want to do the national game?
- 34:33Speaker 3: Because in 2029, yeah.
- 34:34Speaker 1: One team gets to play on Monday night?
- 34:37Speaker 3: The look at us game. That Because all these contracts
- 34:41Speaker 3: are coming up. The national contract's coming up to start
- 34:44Speaker 3: the 29th season. And so it's going to coincide with
- 34:46Speaker 3: the CBA. So that's what they want. That's what they
- 34:49Speaker 3: want to do.
- 34:50Speaker 2: But when do those two teams have to make that,
- 34:52Speaker 2: you know, get the off day back on Tuesday? So
- 34:54Speaker 2: they play Monday and take Tuesday off while everyone else plays?
- 34:57Speaker 2: And won't that mess with your pitching rotation? This is all.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:03Speaker 3: No, I agree.
- 35:04Speaker 1: This is all. This is what I don't understand.
- 35:06Speaker 4: Like.
- 35:06Speaker 1: You want to do this. So in the minor leagues,
- 35:08Speaker 1: every minor leaguer I think has Monday off, right? Isn't
- 35:10Speaker 1: it Monday?
- 35:10Speaker 3: Everyone.
- 35:12Speaker 2: So they all pitch six-man rotations. They all pitch once
- 35:15Speaker 2: a week. You're the Tuesday starter. You're the Wednesday starter.
- 35:17Speaker 2: It's like college, okay? You're the Friday, Saturday, Sunday starter, whatever.
- 35:21Speaker 2: But if you do this in the major leagues and
- 35:22Speaker 2: then all of a sudden, you know, they're only– listen,
- 35:24Speaker 2: I know how these national broadcasts work. They don't really–
- 35:26Speaker 2: they don't pick the worst teams. They usually pick the
- 35:28Speaker 2: best teams, right? So then that throws off there. You're
- 35:31Speaker 2: not the Tuesday. This week you've got to pitch on Monday.
- 35:33Speaker 3: Okay.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Well, oh, no, I can't pitch on Monday. I've only
- 35:36Speaker 2: had six days off. Like, there's no way I can
- 35:38Speaker 2: do that, right? So I don't understand this proposal. If
- 35:42Speaker 2: you want to go to 154 games and go longer playoffs,
- 35:45Speaker 2: I'm okay with that. But to just have an off
- 35:47Speaker 2: day off and then just have one– I mean, this is–
- 35:49Speaker 2: you know what this all is? Semantics so you can
- 35:51Speaker 2: get a salary cap.
- 35:52Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 35:53Speaker 2: It's just something to throw at the players so they
- 35:54Speaker 2: can say, well, we tried this. The players said no.
- 35:57Speaker 2: You know, you guys said no to this, but we
- 35:58Speaker 2: need this.
- 36:00Speaker 3: And just know that if you play eight less games–
- 36:04Speaker 3: You're going to have eight less games than numbers, which
- 36:06Speaker 3: brings all the numbers that everyone, well, I'm going into arbitration. Okay,
- 36:11Speaker 3: what are these numbers? Well, it's less than this catcher
- 36:15Speaker 3: put up three years ago. So now, you know, those
- 36:18Speaker 3: numbers are going to continue to go down. And I
- 36:21Speaker 3: think in a sport where it's counting stats, 154 games,
- 36:25Speaker 3: and I get it if you could show me that
- 36:28Speaker 3: the eight less games improves player health. I would agree.
- 36:33Speaker 3: And I think this is Major League Baseball's way of
- 36:35Speaker 3: trying to suffice the players in a way that they can.
- 36:39Speaker 3: But I think the amount of money that you make
- 36:44Speaker 3: in the playoffs would make up for this. But then
- 36:47Speaker 3: are the playoff teams sharing that money? Ultimately, it's a ruse.
- 36:54Speaker 3: And the ruse is... Whatever we're doing, we're showing you
- 36:57Speaker 3: all this, but this is what we really want is
- 37:00Speaker 3: how Major League Baseball is doing it. And I don't
- 37:02Speaker 3: know that 154 games is the answer to go to
- 37:09Speaker 3: the negotiating table and the players go, oh, thank you
- 37:12Speaker 3: so much for all of this extra health you're getting us.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Even though we have no actual stats that say, well,
- 37:20Speaker 3: if you play eight less games– you're going to be
- 37:22Speaker 3: healthier because if AJ would play eight less games in
- 37:25Speaker 3: his career each season for 15 straight years that he
- 37:28Speaker 3: caught 135 games, he would be much healthier. Well, not
- 37:33Speaker 3: only that, but also, you know, I don't even want
- 37:36Speaker 3: to get, all right, let's move on from that because
- 37:38Speaker 3: I can't go on and.
- 37:39Speaker 1: On about this. They want to expand the division series
- 37:41Speaker 1: to seven games. You know why? More money.
- 37:43Speaker 2: They have more playoff games. They get more money. It's
- 37:45Speaker 2: simple as that. There's no other way to put it.
- 37:47Speaker 2: That's why they keep adding rounds. That's why they keep
- 37:49Speaker 2: adding games because they want, more money um that's that's
- 37:53Speaker 2: what this comes down to and then this is where
- 37:55Speaker 2: i like though next year the league wants to introduce
- 37:59Speaker 2: a form of receding in the playoffs okay fine but
- 38:02Speaker 2: you got to give the division winner something okay so
- 38:04Speaker 2: you got to give them you know the round off
- 38:06Speaker 2: the top two seats because what's the incentive just get
- 38:09Speaker 2: in and then you recede who cares right but They
- 38:14Speaker 2: want to let them possibly pick your opponent. I am
- 38:16Speaker 2: here for this. I want this.
- 38:19Speaker 1: I need this injected into my blood.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Because when the first team says, whoever that, let's say
- 38:24Speaker 2: the Yankees are like sitting there and they go, we
- 38:27Speaker 2: want to play the White Sox. And the White Sox
- 38:29Speaker 2: go out there and beat them in the postseason. Can
- 38:31Speaker 2: you imagine how much trash talking is going to be
- 38:34Speaker 2: going down?
- 38:35Speaker 1: Oh, you wanted us? Oh, you picked us? You wanted
- 38:39Speaker 1: some of this smoke? You didn't want this smoke? Can
- 38:41Speaker 1: you imagine?
- 38:43Speaker 2: How much trash talking? You can't allow a team to
- 38:47Speaker 2: pick who they want to play because, oh, I mean,
- 38:50Speaker 2: you can, and I'm here for it. But, wow, what
- 38:52Speaker 2: an awesome experience that would be. And sitting, then they
- 38:55Speaker 2: have to put cameras in there.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Well, how do we decide who we want to play?
- 38:58Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 38:59Speaker 2: They have a good lefty. Yeah, but the other team
- 39:01Speaker 2: has a good righty. Yeah, but we're scared of the Rays. No, no,
- 39:05Speaker 2: we want to play the Astros. What if the Astros
- 39:07Speaker 2: beat us at 81-81? Then our fans will have a revolt.
- 39:11Speaker 2: I mean, oh, my gosh, yes.
- 39:14Speaker 3: Yes, 100% I am on this. You can't, but you
- 39:19Speaker 3: have to have, like, what you just said, you have
- 39:22Speaker 3: to have it. Like, here we are in the office
- 39:25Speaker 3: of Craig Council's Cubs, division, central division winners. They're choosing
- 39:29Speaker 3: who they want to be, who they want to play
- 39:32Speaker 3: in the first round after they won the division. Oh,
- 39:35Speaker 3: here they are. Are they going to go for the
- 39:36Speaker 3: Padres or the Phillies? Really? They limped into the division
- 39:43Speaker 3: series here after losing, after beating whatever, whatever. Yes. Yes.
- 39:48Speaker 3: I want to see it. And, You talk about bulletin
- 39:51Speaker 3: board material. If you want bulletin board material and you
- 39:55Speaker 3: need that in your life, which I don't think you do,
- 39:58Speaker 3: this would definitely be it. Oh, they chose us. They
- 40:02Speaker 3: chose to play us.
- 40:05Speaker 1: It would be like Raiders of the Lost Ark. What
- 40:07Speaker 1: was it?
- 40:08Speaker 2: The last final crusade when they're picking the chalices at
- 40:12Speaker 2: the end and the old guy standing there with the sword,
- 40:15Speaker 2: he's like, You chose poorly. And the guy shrivels up
- 40:18Speaker 2: and dies. And then Indiana picks the wooden chalice. He's like,
- 40:21Speaker 2: you chose wisely. And then he saves his dad or whatever.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Sorry if you haven't seen the movie, kids.
- 40:26Speaker 1: We're in euphoria. But whatever.
- 40:28Speaker 3: Underratedly good movie. Yeah.
- 40:31Speaker 1: You chose wisely. You chose poorly. And, you know, that
- 40:35Speaker 1: would be awesome. So, I don't know. MLB, try it.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Just try it for one year. And if you don't
- 40:39Speaker 2: like it, you can change the rules anyways. Because the
- 40:41Speaker 2: players have no say in what rules you change and
- 40:43Speaker 2: what you don't change. So, if you want to try it,
- 40:45Speaker 2: do it. and it would get some fans seriously riled up.
- 40:49Speaker 1: All right, we'll be right back.
- 40:52Speaker 2: John Hammond on Paul Goldschmidt. Paul Goldschmidt suggested he would
- 40:57Speaker 2: like to keep playing. He said, I love competing.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Good for you, Goldie.
- 41:02Speaker 2: And if you think you can do it, go do it.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Someone will sign you. Somebody will bring you back. You know,
- 41:06Speaker 2: those crowds, you get to a point, though, where the
- 41:08Speaker 2: juice ain't worth the squeeze. And I love competing, too,
- 41:10Speaker 2: but You know, you got kids, you got family, you
- 41:13Speaker 2: got people, you got health, you can't do.
- 41:16Speaker 1: It as well anymore.
- 41:17Speaker 2: It just comes to a point where, you know, even
- 41:19Speaker 2: Justin Verlander, even Tom Brady at some point said, Uncle,
- 41:22Speaker 2: I got to go home. So, Goldie, if the team
- 41:24Speaker 2: will sign you and you want to keep doing it,
- 41:27Speaker 2: thumbs up.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Hall of Famer?
- 41:30Speaker 1: Not yet for me. I don't think so. I think
- 41:32Speaker 1: he's short. He's a great player, but he'll get in.
- 41:35Speaker 3: The little bit that I know of him, I don't know.
- 41:39Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't think he's in yet. And
- 41:42Speaker 3: a little bit that I know of him, I don't
- 41:44Speaker 3: know that he's like pushing for the Hall of Fame.
- 41:47Speaker 3: He's at 22, almost 2,300 hits. I think it's– if
- 41:52Speaker 3: he can still do it, yeah, I get it. He
- 41:55Speaker 3: had a better year than he did the year before.
- 41:58Speaker 3: He's a platoon guy. Does he mind sitting on the
- 42:01Speaker 3: bench for a third of the season? I get that,
- 42:06Speaker 3: but there's– You feel like you can still do it,
- 42:09Speaker 3: your family wants it, and your health is good, sure,
- 42:13Speaker 3: do it. If you're missing stuff at home, I promise.
- 42:15Speaker 3: I'll tell anybody, if you're thinking about quitting, quit because
- 42:20Speaker 3: it is great.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Agreed, agreed.
- 42:25Speaker 2: It's hard to replicate that, and I tell people that
- 42:27Speaker 2: all the time. They're like, oh, should I play another year?
- 42:28Speaker 2: I'm like, well, do you like being at home? And
- 42:31Speaker 2: they're like, well, do you like in the offseason when
- 42:32Speaker 2: you're home?
- 42:32Speaker 1: They say yes. I'm like, you should probably think about quitting.
- 42:37Speaker 3: Then.
