Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The next segment we're going to do is called Second
- 0:02Speaker 1: Date Update.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Because that's what we're going to try and get, and
- 0:05Speaker 2: that's what the bit is called.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Second Date Update starts.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Right now on John Jay and Rich.
- 0:11Speaker 3: All right, it's time for Second Date Update. You meet somebody,
- 0:13Speaker 3: go on a date, you have a good time. You
- 0:15Speaker 3: expect there to be a second date, and there isn't one.
- 0:16Speaker 3: You don't know why, so you come to us. Like, Jace. Jace,
- 0:19Speaker 3: good morning.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Hey, good morning. Like, I'm just kind of confused because
- 0:24Speaker 2: I thought we had a great time, and... Went to
- 0:27Speaker 2: a couple bars downtown, and with everybody celebrating, Halloween was
- 0:30Speaker 2: just packed, but the vibe was really good. We were
- 0:34Speaker 2: just drinking, dancing, laughing, and we hit it off. I
- 0:40Speaker 2: know we did. There were a couple weird moments, I guess.
- 0:45Speaker 2: You know, as I'm thinking about it and trying to
- 0:47Speaker 2: figure out what's going on, like, I lost her for, like,
- 0:49Speaker 2: 10 minutes trying to get drinks, and some girl I
- 0:52Speaker 2: knew came up and gave me a big hug, but
- 0:55Speaker 2: nothing crazy, you know? Like, it was friendly, and, you know,
- 0:59Speaker 2: then Maddie ended up getting pretty drunk, and I really
- 1:03Speaker 2: didn't feel comfortable just sending her home like that. You know,
- 1:06Speaker 2: I didn't want her to drive or anything. I didn't
- 1:10Speaker 2: feel comfortable, so we went back to my place, and
- 1:12Speaker 2: to be clear... Perfectly clear. Nothing happened. You know, that's
- 1:15Speaker 2: not that's that's not how I do things. We didn't
- 1:19Speaker 2: hook up or anything. And, you know, I just again,
- 1:22Speaker 2: I wanted her to be safe and have some place
- 1:25Speaker 2: to sleep it off. And, you know, next morning she
- 1:27Speaker 2: woke up and everything was fine and got her some water.
- 1:30Speaker 2: She headed home and now being ignored. And I just.
- 1:36Speaker 2: again generally no idea what i did wrong like maybe
- 1:39Speaker 2: she's embarrassed but you know she she hasn't responded to
- 1:42Speaker 2: anything so.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I don't know so she got like way drunk like
- 1:45Speaker 3: the kind of drunk where you're like hey lay down
- 1:47Speaker 3: go to sleep like puking.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah it wasn't no it wasn't the point of puking
- 1:52Speaker 2: but it was at the point of like one more
- 1:54Speaker 2: drink there might be you know some praying to the
- 1:59Speaker 2: porcelain god right.
- 2:01Speaker 3: How come your house not how can we take her
- 2:03Speaker 3: back to her house Uh, first.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Date, I didn't know where she lived and I wasn't,
- 2:07Speaker 2: you know.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Oh, she was, so she was that drunk.
- 2:11Speaker 2: She was, like, that drunk and, you know, and, like,
- 2:15Speaker 2: kind of falling asleep and, like, shrugging. It was, look,
- 2:18Speaker 2: it didn't turn me off or anything because everybody was
- 2:20Speaker 2: having a good time. Okay.
- 2:21Speaker 3: You know, I know, you know. Well, if what you
- 2:23Speaker 3: say is true, then you did the gentleman thing, I
- 2:25Speaker 3: would say, right? So she's probably embarrassed, maybe.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah. That's what I'm thinking. So I want to get
- 2:33Speaker 2: her in line and, you know, let her know that
- 2:34Speaker 2: it's okay. I've been there, you know.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Well, well. It's not a big deal.
- 2:40Speaker 1: She's not embarrassed, and you did something that upset her.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Right. Maybe it was.
- 2:45Speaker 4: I mean, sometimes, you know, maybe she did remember the
- 2:47Speaker 4: girl hugging you up at the bar.
- 2:49Speaker 1: She's like, who is that? I go to the bathroom
- 2:50Speaker 1: for two minutes, and you're talking to somebody else? Yeah.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Who knows? Well, let's get her on the phone.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Okay, cool.
- 2:56Speaker 3: All right, so you hang tight. We're going to get
- 2:58Speaker 3: her on the phone, and then we're going to find
- 2:59Speaker 3: out why she's blowing you off, man. All right, so
- 3:02Speaker 3: Second Aid Update continues next with John Jane Rich.
- 3:05Speaker 5: Oh, cool.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Your scanner stopped. We're in the middle of Second Aid Update.
- 3:10Speaker 3: We got Jace and Maddie.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Well, Jace and Maddie went downtown for their date. There
- 3:15Speaker 1: was laughing. There was drinking. There was dancing. But then
- 3:18Speaker 1: it got awkward because Maddie went missing for about 10 minutes.
- 3:23Speaker 1: In the middle of that, Jace met another lady that
- 3:26Speaker 1: hugged him. She saw it, and it got a little strange. However,
- 3:31Speaker 1: they talked it out, and although she was drunk, they
- 3:34Speaker 1: went back to his place. There was no lovin'. She
- 3:37Speaker 1: stayed over, slept off the drunk, and then went home,
- 3:40Speaker 1: and there's no contact, probably because he's a bad kisser,
- 3:44Speaker 1: is what I think.
- 3:44Speaker 3: I think something must have happened in that 10 minutes.
- 3:47Speaker 3: That 10-minute window, something happened. Probably a man with a
- 3:50Speaker 3: lizard tongue, and.
- 3:50Speaker 1: It was like... Maybe she woke up, and she's like,
- 3:52Speaker 1: why am I in his place?
- 3:55Speaker 3: Jace, are you ready to go?
- 3:56Speaker 2: I am ready to go.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Okay, you just stay quiet, because I know she's ready
- 4:01Speaker 3: to go, too. Hold on, she'll go in there. Hey, Maddie.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Hi.
- 4:04Speaker 5: Hi.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Hey, so we're calling you because this is kind of
- 4:07Speaker 3: an interesting thing. We got a call from a guy
- 4:09Speaker 3: who went on a date with you. He described the
- 4:13Speaker 3: date as pretty fun. And he seemed, according to his story,
- 4:16Speaker 3: he was like a gentleman. And he says you're ghosting him.
- 4:20Speaker 3: And we thought we would call you and kind of
- 4:22Speaker 3: get your version of the date with Jace.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Oh, Jace.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Oh, I'm sorry, but that guy's like a serial killer
- 4:31Speaker 4: or something. I'm not even joking.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Can you tell us why you think he's a serial killer?
- 4:37Speaker 4: Yeah. So we went back to his place because honestly,
- 4:42Speaker 4: I just had way too much to drink and I
- 4:43Speaker 4: ended up falling asleep on his couch. And at like
- 4:48Speaker 4: three in the morning, I think I woke up because
- 4:51Speaker 4: I swear I heard a woman crying.
- 4:54Speaker 5: Okay.
- 4:55Speaker 4: And At first I thought that it was a dream
- 4:58Speaker 4: or something, but then I heard it again and it
- 5:01Speaker 4: sounded like it was coming from downstairs. So I got
- 5:04Speaker 4: up to investigate and there's like this door leading to
- 5:07Speaker 4: his basement that has a lock on the outside. So
- 5:12Speaker 4: I literally put my ear up against the door and
- 5:14Speaker 4: I could hear someone moving around down there. There is
- 5:18Speaker 4: literally someone down there and I freaked out and I
- 5:20Speaker 4: went to wake him up and then he got really
- 5:22Speaker 4: weird and he told me that I need to go
- 5:24Speaker 4: back to sleep. And I was like, I'm sorry, what?
- 5:28Speaker 4: And then at that point he got up and like
- 5:29Speaker 4: grabbed me some water or something. And then he went
- 5:31Speaker 4: to shower. And when he was in the shower, I
- 5:33Speaker 4: was just like, freak out. I just called an Uber
- 5:36Speaker 4: and I left. It was crazy.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Oh, so somebody's locked down there. You didn't call the
- 5:41Speaker 1: police or anything. Right on your way.
- 5:43Speaker 4: I actually did. I filed a police report. Um, because I, like,
- 5:49Speaker 4: I'm convinced he's keeping somebody captive in that basement. And
- 5:53Speaker 4: then when I called the police, I said they couldn't
- 5:55Speaker 4: do anything. And I was like, guys, I need you
- 5:57Speaker 4: to understand, like, I was going to end up on
- 6:00Speaker 4: a true crime podcast, and they couldn't do anything about it.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Hold up, hold up, hold up.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I did.
- 6:04Speaker 4: No, I did file a police report.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Maddie, stop. Maddie, you're telling people I'm a serial killer? Like,
- 6:10Speaker 2: are you serious?
- 6:12Speaker 4: Oh, my God. Why is he on the phone? Are
- 6:15Speaker 4: you seriously going to track me down right now? People
- 6:17Speaker 4: can hear you. They know what you're doing. What do
- 6:19Speaker 4: you mean track you down?
- 6:20Speaker 2: Like, what are you talking about? You think I have
- 6:24Speaker 2: someone held hostage in my basement? That's crazy.
- 6:27Speaker 4: I heard a woman crying down there, and the door
- 6:31Speaker 4: was locked.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Okay? That is weird.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that's my sister, my little sister. She's 24. She
- 6:39Speaker 2: just moved back in with me because she's getting divorced
- 6:41Speaker 2: from an absolute loser. And you know what? She's going
- 6:44Speaker 2: through a really, really tough time right now, and it
- 6:46Speaker 2: just feels awful. So that's why you heard the crying
- 6:49Speaker 2: because she can't get over it yet, and I'm trying
- 6:51Speaker 2: to be there for her.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Wait, so there's actually a woman living in your basement?
- 6:55Speaker 2: Yeah. And it's a finished basement too. It's pretty much
- 6:59Speaker 2: just an apartment, you know? And she's been crying herself
- 7:01Speaker 2: to sleep for like two weeks because her whole life,
- 7:04Speaker 2: her whole life has just fallen apart.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Then why lock her in?
- 7:08Speaker 3: What's the lock on the outside of the door?
- 7:10Speaker 4: Because it was three in the morning.
- 7:12Speaker 2: It's three in the morning. You were drunk and you're
- 7:15Speaker 2: trying to get into my sister's room. I didn't want
- 7:17Speaker 2: her to freak out because some random woman comes in
- 7:21Speaker 2: to her private space. So I locked it.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Is there a lock on the other side?
- 7:26Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lock on the other side, but I
- 7:27Speaker 2: want to make sure, because, again, I don't want, like,
- 7:31Speaker 2: it's Maddie's first time in my house. My sister has
- 7:33Speaker 2: no clue who it is. I don't want my sister
- 7:36Speaker 2: freaking out at 3 in the morning and, like, punching
- 7:38Speaker 2: Maddie or Maddie getting all scared because my sister's down there. Like,
- 7:42Speaker 2: I'm just trying to keep them apart because, you know,
- 7:45Speaker 2: my sister.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Needs her privacy.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Could Maddie come over and check out the apartment in
- 7:48Speaker 1: the basement?
- 7:49Speaker 3: What about the police? She called the police. Didn't you
- 7:51Speaker 3: say you filed a police report? Are they going to
- 7:54Speaker 3: come knocking?
- 7:54Speaker 2: I did.
- 7:56Speaker 1: They probably have to do a wellness check, you know, eventually.
- 7:58Speaker 1: But if it's not like, I don't know.
- 8:01Speaker 3: I'm still creeped out by it.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I feel like we need proof. Why would a serial
- 8:06Speaker 1: killer call us for a second date update? If he
- 8:09Speaker 1: was actually a serial killer? Well, sometimes, I mean, they're sociopaths.
- 8:12Speaker 1: So I wouldn't put it past a serial killer to
- 8:15Speaker 1: try to just mess.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I'm not a sociopath. Look, look, guys.
- 8:20Speaker 4: I mean, you can see how I.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Is she doing that right now?
- 8:24Speaker 1: Can we talk to her?
- 8:26Speaker 2: To my sister? She's at work right now.
- 8:29Speaker 3: You let her out to go to work?
- 8:32Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Guys, I have all sisters, okay? I was raised around
- 8:35Speaker 2: women my entire life. I would never, ever do something
- 8:39Speaker 2: like that. Like, I literally brought you home because I
- 8:41Speaker 2: didn't want you to get into an Uber by yourself,
- 8:43Speaker 2: die drunk, and end up. harmed or on a true
- 8:47Speaker 2: crime podcast.
- 8:48Speaker 1: You might've ended up in that basement bed.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Didn't bother you. And somehow I'm a freaking serial killer.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Why would I bring you home?
- 8:54Speaker 3: Well, you can see it through her point of view.
- 8:56Speaker 3: I can see that. I thought you were going to say, guys,
- 9:00Speaker 3: I have three sisters. I was brought up with women.
- 9:02Speaker 3: That's why I locked her in the basement.
- 9:11Speaker 4: I mean, you could see why. Like, I genuinely thought
- 9:13Speaker 4: something bad was happening. I'm sorry. Like, I literally got
- 9:17Speaker 4: really scared.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess at 3 in the morning, too, you're
- 9:20Speaker 1: in a strange place. You hear a woman crying. You're like, yeah. Like,
- 9:23Speaker 1: if you were having breakfast, you might go, what's going on? Oh,
- 9:25Speaker 1: that's my sister. She's staying over. Probably no big deal.
- 9:28Speaker 1: 3 in the morning, scary.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Yeah, but she bailed out.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Also, your sister, did you not tell her you're going
- 9:34Speaker 3: out on a date? I'm going out with somebody. You
- 9:36Speaker 3: might have, I don't know if it's going to work
- 9:38Speaker 3: out or not, but I'm going to lock you in
- 9:40Speaker 3: here for a while.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Okay.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Heads up. I didn't lock her in. I locked her
- 9:43Speaker 2: in when we got home at 3 a.m. She also,
- 9:46Speaker 2: guess what? She also has an exit from the basement downstairs. Okay.
- 9:50Speaker 2: This is just the connection.
- 9:52Speaker 3: That's so sad that she's crying two weeks later at
- 9:54Speaker 3: 3 o'clock in the morning about her divorce.
- 9:56Speaker 1: A divorce at 24, that's young. But good for you, girl.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I'm glad you got out of that.
- 10:00Speaker 3: So, Maddie, how does that make you feel? I mean,
- 10:02Speaker 3: you were drunk. Keep that in mind. So I'm sure
- 10:04Speaker 3: everything was heightened.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Filed a police report.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Right. So I'm sure the senses were heightened a little bit.
- 10:10Speaker 3: How do you feel now?
- 10:10Speaker 5: I mean, when you put it like, you know, you
- 10:16Speaker 5: explain it, I feel pretty awful about it. I mean,
- 10:21Speaker 5: I did have fun with you. I just I completely
- 10:24Speaker 5: misunderstood what was happening.
- 10:25Speaker 4: I feel bad that, you know, it was such a
- 10:29Speaker 4: big misunderstanding.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Well, I had fun, too, until I found out that
- 10:35Speaker 2: you think I'm the next Jeffrey Dahmer and couldn't even
- 10:38Speaker 2: like text me like, hey, there was a woman in
- 10:40Speaker 2: your basement. Or anything. That's a nice text.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Hey, by the way, in case you haven't noticed.
- 10:48Speaker 1: There's a woman in your basement. Ted Bundy was fun, too.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh.
- 10:52Speaker 3: All right, so do you want to go out on
- 10:54Speaker 3: another date?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Honestly?
- 10:57Speaker 4: I would be up for grabbing drinks.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Wow.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Okay, Jace?
- 11:01Speaker 2: I'm good, y'all. I don't think we need to go
- 11:05Speaker 2: out on a date.
- 11:07Speaker 3: I'm not.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Like, if the communication's that bad at the start, like, I.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Mean, what a story to tell at your wedding. She
- 11:13Speaker 1: thought I was a serial killer. It's not crazy. You
- 11:16Speaker 1: can have your sister come up from the basement in
- 11:18Speaker 1: the wedding.
- 11:18Speaker 3: You know, your mom used to think. Now, just in case,
- 11:21Speaker 3: let's pay attention. Let's check in with Maddie in a
- 11:23Speaker 3: couple days and make sure she's still around.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Yeah, please.
- 11:24Speaker 3: But Jace didn't go take her. Yes, we should do that.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Ridiculous.
- 11:29Speaker 3: All right, well, thank you guys for going there with us.
- 11:31Speaker 3: So Jace wanted a second date. Now Maddie says yes,
- 11:35Speaker 3: Jace says no. Interesting. Thank you both. That's Second Date Update,
- 11:38Speaker 3: you guys, with John Jay and Rich.
