- 2:47Sunny Morning sends you. In local news. New rules
- 2:53just kicked in for delivery drivers in Boston.
- 2:57A Boston City ordinance that went into effect
- 3:00on Saturday aims to bring a little order to the
- 3:03city's chaotic streets. Under these new rules,
- 3:07Boston is requiring third -party restaurant delivery
- 3:10companies like Uber Eats, Grubhub, and DoorDash
- 3:14to obtain new permits to improve pedestrian safety.
- 3:18This ordinance, initially filed by Mayor Michelle
- 3:21Wu, and passed by the City Council last April,
- 3:25addresses concerns about reckless driving, illegal
- 3:29parking, and increased traffic congestion. The
- 3:33City's website notes that the number of vehicles
- 3:35used for food delivery has increased rapidly,
- 3:38with reports of delivery vehicle issues rising
- 3:42by 200 % since 2022. Now, all third -party food
- 3:47delivery companies That place more than 1 million
- 3:50orders annually must register with the city's
- 3:53transportation department and obtain insurance
- 3:56coverage to protect those involved in crashes
- 3:58with delivery vehicles. Now on to sports. Sticker
- 4:09shock is hitting Los Angeles, California residents
- 4:12as they express alarm over the price of pre -sale
- 4:15tickets for the 2028 Olympics. Since tickets
- 4:19went on sale on April 2nd, excitement has turned
- 4:22into disappointment over what many describe as
- 4:25exorbitant prices and unexpected service fees.
- 4:30Tickets ranged from $28 to thousands, with popular
- 4:34events like gymnastics and track, and fields
- 4:37selling out quickly. In addition to ticket prices,
- 4:40a 24 % service fee was added. which LA 28 stated
- 4:45would support necessities like customer service
- 4:47during the games. Los Angeles resident Kathy
- 4:51Dorn shared her frustrations with the situation.
- 4:54In local sports, the Minnesota Twins powered
- 4:58past the Sox with a 13 -6 victory, highlighted
- 5:02by homers from Victor Caratini and Ryan Jeffers,
- 5:05each driving in three runs. Garrett Crochet had
- 5:09a tough outing, lasting only one and two -thirds
- 5:12innings and allowing 11 runs, marking the shortest
- 5:15start of his career. Jaron Duran contributed
- 5:19with a homer, while Caleb Durbin added two hits
- 5:22and two runs scored for Boston. In the next game,
- 5:27Twins right -handed pitcher Micah Bell will take
- 5:29on Boston's Sonny Gray, who is off to a strong
- 5:32start this season with two wins and a 2 .76 earned
- 5:36run average. In top news, the artificial intelligence
- 5:42gold rush is rapidly drying up the supply of
- 5:45the one resource that artificial intelligence
- 5:48developers cannot do without, computing power.
- 5:52The sharp capacity crunch has caused consternation
- 5:55among power users, forced companies to scuttle
- 5:59products, and led to reliability problems. These
- 6:03issues are a warning sign for the artificial
- 6:05intelligence boom. As they may limit the utility
- 6:08of powerful new artificial intelligence tools,
- 6:11just as massive amounts of users have begun to
- 6:14rely on them to boost productivity. Demand for
- 6:18autonomous tools has exploded as companies scramble
- 6:21to secure the availability of computing capacity
- 6:24needed to serve a growing base of customers.
- 6:28In business news, Shake Shack just announced
- 6:32its loyalty program, and it's a very bad sign.
- 6:36The company aims to keep customers engaged through
- 6:39technology, revealing a harsh truth about what
- 6:42loyalty truly means. Many businesses reach the
- 6:46conclusion that customer loyalty programs are
- 6:49essential. While incentivizing customers to return
- 6:52seems logical, it raises the question, is this
- 6:56genuine loyalty? Shake Shack began as a hot dog
- 7:01cart in 2001, launched by Danny Meyer. a leader
- 7:05in New York City's fine dining scene. The cart's
- 7:08success led to the official opening of Shake
- 7:11Shack in 2004. In crypto movement, Bitcoin is
- 7:17up 5 % to about $74 ,000. Ethereum is up 8 %
- 7:23to about $2 ,000. And XRP is up 3 % to $1 .37.

- 8:12to tell them sunny morning sent you by. And now,
- 8:17back to the show. Let's talk science. Researchers
- 8:22have developed a method of making French fries
- 8:24that results in a healthier bite without sacrificing
- 8:27crispiness. A research team at the University
- 8:31of Illinois has created a straightforward method
- 8:33to keep the satisfying taste and crunch while
- 8:37using less oil. This cooking method combines
- 8:40traditional frying and microwave heating, which
- 8:43could reduce the oil needed, meaning less fat
- 8:46absorbed with each bite. Pawan Singh Thakkar,
- 8:49author of one study, states, consumers want healthy
- 8:53foods, but cravings often prevail. This innovation
- 8:57aims to help consumers make better food choices.
- 9:02And in entertainment news, the latest review
- 9:07by Owen Gleiberman describes the Super Mario
- 9:10Galaxy movie as a frenetic and disappointing
- 9:13sequel to the original Super Mario Bros. Adventure.
- 9:18Starring Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as
- 9:21Luigi, and Donald Glover as Yoshi, the film embarks
- 9:25on a galactic adventure. We are introduced to
- 9:28Yoshi, a cuddly green dinosaur, and an army of
- 9:31Lumas, who are less charming than their cousin
- 9:34Lumalee from the previous film. The film's setting
- 9:38is entirely in space, with Princess Rosalina,
- 9:41portrayed by Brie Larson, being kidnapped by
- 9:44a giant droid in the opening scene. Well, alrighty
- 9:49folks, it's time for the quote of the day. And
- 9:53today, our quote comes from the American astronaut
- 9:56and engineer, John Glenn. And he said, To sit
- 10:01back and let fate play its hand out and never
- 10:03influence it is not the way man was meant to
- 10:06operate. And that's a wrap for this morning.
