- 0:00Carmen Lezeth: Yay, Hi everyone.
- 0:02Carmen Lezeth: Welcome to All About the Joy Internacional.
- 0:05Carmen Lezeth: Almost Cynthia is in the house and she's where.
- 0:12Charlie Mattera: I am at the airport on my way to Italy.
- 0:15Rick Costa: Well we're going to Switzerland first.
- 0:18Carmen Lezeth: Oh, are you going to Switzerland first?
- 0:20Rick Costa: Yeah, we have to stop in Switzerland.
- 0:21Rick Costa: How did?
- 0:21Carmen Lezeth: I miss that.
- 0:22Carmen Lezeth: Oh, you have to stop in Switzerland.
- 0:25Carmen Lezeth: And a layover, yeah, a layover, because it's not your personal jet.
- 0:29Carmen Lezeth: You decided to fly commercial this time.
- 0:32Carmen Lezeth: Just want to have fun in the commercial world of flying so you have a layover what I said to see how the regulars do it.
- 0:48Carmen Lezeth: Not like us emoji people.
- 0:50Carmen Lezeth: Let me see if I can close this up.
- 0:52Carmen Lezeth: Hey, melanie, how are you?
- 0:54Carmen Lezeth: Rick's going to be on, hopefully a little bit later.
- 0:58Carmen Lezeth: He's just running late, but he just texted me, so I said we're going to go on early right now so we can talk to Cynthia before she boards her chart and flight.
- 1:07Carmen Lezeth: It's so funny.
- 1:09Carmen Lezeth: Okay, so you land in Switzerland.
- 1:11Carmen Lezeth: It's a layover.
- 1:12Carmen Lezeth: How long is the layover?
- 1:13Carmen Lezeth: Just an hour, it's not too bad.
- 1:15Carmen Lezeth: Oh, no, that's going to be.
- 1:17Carmen Lezeth: Oh, they're just refueling or something.
- 1:19Carmen Lezeth: Maybe we don't know.
- 1:21Carmen Lezeth: See, because I always get worried when I have a layover that's that short and they have to move stuff from the place.
- 1:27Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I shouldn't tell you that, because then you lose your luggage Like this.
- 1:32Carmen Lezeth: That's why I only bring a carry-on, but I'm sure you brought more than just a carry-on.
- 1:37Carmen Lezeth: Oh yeah, okay, so an hour, and then you're off from Switzerland.
- 1:43Carmen Lezeth: You're going to Venice, right?
- 1:45Carmen Lezeth: Yes, oh my God.
- 1:47Carmen Lezeth: And then we're on the ship.
- 1:48Carmen Lezeth: Wait.
- 1:50Carmen Lezeth: So how long are you in Venice?
- 1:51Carmen Lezeth: Just a day.
- 1:53Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, we leave tomorrow night 8 pm from Venice on the ship, okay, and then you get on.
- 2:00Carmen Lezeth: I think the worst part of the whole trip, which is the next two weeks right, is your cruise.
- 2:05Charlie Mattera: And you're out.
- 2:07Carmen Lezeth: Wow, you're going to have so much fun.
- 2:08Carmen Lezeth: I would like a large T-shirt, especially from Greece, because you're going to be in Greece, which I think is the best part.
- 2:15Carmen Lezeth: I don't want like a cheesy T-shirt, though.
- 2:18Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying Okay, hot men, give them my number freely.
- 2:22Carmen Lezeth: You know my type.
- 2:23Carmen Lezeth: Find out what's in their bank account.
- 2:29Carmen Lezeth: First important one wants to know what kind of alcohol you want.
- 2:31Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I don't want alcohol, big drinker, okay, but one you're live now you're live now.
- 2:42Rick Costa: Say hi to everybody hi, everybody yeah why does he think I'm?
- 2:45Carmen Lezeth: a big drinker.
- 2:46Carmen Lezeth: Now You're alive.
- 2:47Carmen Lezeth: Now Say hi to everybody, Hi everybody.
- 2:48Carmen Lezeth: Why does he think I'm a big drinker?
- 2:49Carmen Lezeth: He thinks everybody's a big drinker Because he doesn't drink.
- 2:52Carmen Lezeth: I think it's funny because he has a perception of me of being like a drinker I'm a floozy, but I'm not a big drinker.
- 3:01Carmen Lezeth: That's where his confusion must be.
- 3:04Carmen Lezeth: That must be what it is.
- 3:05Carmen Lezeth: Okay so what are you most excited for the trip?
- 3:10Charlie Mattera: Just to be in the sun and at the beach.
- 3:15Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, see, I have that all the time here.
- 3:16Carmen Lezeth: That wouldn't be my thing.
- 3:17Carmen Lezeth: I do too, but Come on, I got to get a little dig in there.
- 3:22Carmen Lezeth: I'm jealous not of the cruise part.
- 3:24Carmen Lezeth: Now, see, if we had coordinated this well, I could have gone out with you, stayed in Switzerland or Venice while you guys go on the cruise, vaya con Dios, and I could have gone and hung out with Nazeem I was going to say one of my clients, but yeah, that wouldn't have been fun because somehow I would just be doing work Right.
- 3:50Carmen Lezeth: So what are you most excited about besides the beach?
- 3:53Carmen Lezeth: Whatever?
- 3:53Carmen Lezeth: What country?
- 3:54Carmen Lezeth: Greece, yeah, I'm so jealous.
- 3:58Carmen Lezeth: And the family, the rest of everybody is already there, or did they?
- 4:03Charlie Mattera: just leave earlier.
- 4:06Rick Costa: They left a little earlier.
- 4:06Rick Costa: Yeah, so they're on their way.
- 4:09Carmen Lezeth: And I think it's going to be a good trip.
- 4:10Carmen Lezeth: I'm feeling very positive of traveling with family Because I know that's always a problem.
- 4:22Rick Costa: Hold on one second.
- 4:24Carmen Lezeth: Hi, rick, she's listening.
- 4:30Rick Costa: Are you?
- 4:30Carmen Lezeth: listening to them.
- 4:31Carmen Lezeth: I'm listening Okay.
- 4:33Carmen Lezeth: So Rick Cynthia's, at the airport, how you doing Good?
- 4:38Rick Costa: good, how are you?
- 4:39Carmen Lezeth: And she is waiting for her flight, which is going to be in now.
- 4:42Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, they're starting to board, oh.
- 4:46Carmen Lezeth: Do you want to be now 13 minutes?
- 4:46Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, they're starting to board, oh do you want?
- 4:48Carmen Lezeth: To say goodbye to Rick, then.
- 4:50Carmen Lezeth: Adios, hey look, it have a beautiful trip.
- 4:52Carmen Lezeth: Please text me once in a while and send me a picture or whatever.
- 4:56Rick Costa: Yes, I will text you once we land, so you know that we're all there.
- 5:00Carmen Lezeth: No, no, that I'm not worried about.
- 5:01Carmen Lezeth: I'm worried about when you're all there and Emily.
- 5:06Carmen Lezeth: So take a breath.
- 5:09Carmen Lezeth: I love you.
- 5:09Carmen Lezeth: Bye, tell Juan.
- 5:10Carmen Lezeth: I said bye.
- 5:11Carmen Lezeth: Have a good trip.
- 5:13Carmen Lezeth: Bye, juan.
- 5:14Rick Costa: Bye.
- 5:14Carmen Lezeth: Juan Bye.
- 5:15Carmen Lezeth: Okay bye, bye, cool, hang on, I got you, I got you.
- 5:18Carmen Lezeth: She's so cute.
- 5:18Carmen Lezeth: How are you Rick?
- 5:19Carmen Lezeth: Good, cool, you might have to.
- 5:22Carmen Lezeth: Oh, hang on, I got you, I got you.
- 5:25Carmen Lezeth: She's so cute.
- 5:26Carmen Lezeth: How are you Rick?
- 5:28Rick Costa: Good, good.
- 5:28Rick Costa: What was funny today was I had to call a particular company to see if they had something in stock and she goes oh, you know what?
- 5:35Rick Costa: I'm actually going to refer you to somebody else because I'm on a plane right now.
- 5:38Rick Costa: I was like, oh sorry.
- 5:41Carmen Lezeth: That's what's going on today.
- 5:43Carmen Lezeth: So, how are you doing today?
- 5:46Rick Costa: Doing good, doing good.
- 5:47Rick Costa: We had a little mini celebration before the bigger one on Sunday.
- 5:50Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, Okay, wait First.
- 5:51Carmen Lezeth: We have to talk about something first.
- 5:53Carmen Lezeth: We've got to talk about something because that's on my list.
- 5:55Carmen Lezeth: That's on my list, but here's what happened.
- 5:57Carmen Lezeth: So yesterday or last night at some point, when I came home from work, I saw that you had posted something that said happy birthday to your mom.
- 6:04Carmen Lezeth: It was really sweet, and of course I.
- 6:06Carmen Lezeth: It was like six or seven hours later but I didn't even see that.
- 6:09Carmen Lezeth: But I totally freaked out because my mom's birthday is on June 12th and I was like there is no way that Rick and my mother's birthday is on the same day.
- 6:21Carmen Lezeth: So I think it was, honestly, I don't know one o'clock in the morning, your time.
- 6:26Carmen Lezeth: It didn't even dawn on me because I was shook by it and I text you.
- 6:30Carmen Lezeth: And of course you answered back.
- 6:31Carmen Lezeth: Did I wake you up?
- 6:32Rick Costa: No, I was still up, oh my.
- 6:34Carmen Lezeth: God, I don't know how you do that, but anyway you text me back and you said no, her birthday's on the 13th, because for me it was already the 13th because I'm on East Coast.
- 6:43Carmen Lezeth: Oh, that's right, but you posted it earlier, wait.
- 6:47Rick Costa: But it was after midnight.
- 6:48Rick Costa: I purposely waited until after midnight.
- 6:50Carmen Lezeth: Oh, but that's after 9 o'clock my time, right?
- 6:52Carmen Lezeth: Oh, that's why.
- 6:54Carmen Lezeth: Okay, so I totally panicked and I was shook by it.
- 6:57Carmen Lezeth: Here's the thing, that's still cool.
- 7:02Carmen Lezeth: So 12th and 13th, and then billy my brother from another mother.
- 7:08Carmen Lezeth: His birthday is on the 10th and our andrea's birthday is on the 11th, so it's 10, 11, 12, 13, and then you had your son is also on send the last day of the month, on 30th yeah, that's cool too, but anyway, shout out to all the birthdays.
- 7:21Carmen Lezeth: I thought that was cool.
- 7:22Carmen Lezeth: Andrea is also, I believe, believe she's.
- 7:25Carmen Lezeth: I think they were landing in London.
- 7:28Carmen Lezeth: So, Andrea is also out of the country and she will be in Germany with her daughters and stuff.
- 7:34Carmen Lezeth: So yeah, the two of them are gone.
- 7:36Carmen Lezeth: Can you imagine how rude they are?
- 7:39Carmen Lezeth: Didn't bring their laptops to just come on in.
- 7:42Carmen Lezeth: No, I'm just kidding.
- 7:43Rick Costa: Was it a pleasure or business for Andrea?
- 7:45Carmen Lezeth: Oh no, her kids know it's pleasure, and Andrea is going back to Germany.
- 7:49Carmen Lezeth: She lived in Germany for a while and so she's going back there to revisit some places and she's excited to bring her daughters there, and so that's cool.
- 7:59Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, so it's a big travel time for people in the summer.
- 8:03Carmen Lezeth: I forget that.
- 8:04Rick Costa: Yeah, that's true.
- 8:05Rick Costa: Yeah, True true.
- 8:07Carmen Lezeth: When you were not having to take care of your mom, did you travel a lot more.
- 8:11Carmen Lezeth: You're not a traveling person.
- 8:13Carmen Lezeth: Nah, okay, is there a reason why?
- 8:17Carmen Lezeth: Or you don't want?
- 8:20Charlie Mattera: to talk about it.
- 8:21Rick Costa: Money's a big thing, but yeah.
- 8:23Rick Costa: Plus, if I want to go somewhere, I don't really want to go alone and I'm like who do I have to go with?
- 8:27Rick Costa: Not really nobody.
- 8:28Rick Costa: Mom doesn't even have a passport, and that's a whole story and a half to get into why.
- 8:35Rick Costa: But yeah, but I have been to Portugal when I was in second grade, I've been to Bermuda three times and I've been to Canada multiple times.
- 8:44Carmen Lezeth: I feel like Canada doesn't count.
- 8:46Carmen Lezeth: No, I'm just kidding.
- 8:47Carmen Lezeth: I think we've all been there one way or another.
- 8:50Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I love Canada, I do.
- 8:51Carmen Lezeth: I didn't mean to say that.
- 8:54Rick Costa: I used to think like why do I have to show you a passport?
- 8:56Rick Costa: You're practically us anyway, Exactly.
- 8:58Carmen Lezeth: Like.
- 8:58Carmen Lezeth: That's the whole thing I'm like, but that's why I called it Dear Mama.
- 9:13Carmen Lezeth: There's a rap song.
- 9:14Carmen Lezeth: For those of you who don't know, I know if Tony was here he would be like oh duh, but it's a Dear Mama by Tupac Shakur, the late and great Tupac Shakur.
- 9:24Carmen Lezeth: It's one of my favorite rap songs, but it's more the storytelling.
- 9:27Carmen Lezeth: But he's talking to his mother.
- 9:30Carmen Lezeth: Singing about his mother and saying you are appreciated is the other part of the song.
- 9:36Carmen Lezeth: So I was just thinking do you have I'm sure you do or do you want to share any really cool moments about your mom?
- 9:43Carmen Lezeth: And I can go first, but I don't know, because I didn't prepare you for that.
- 9:47Rick Costa: So, speaking of that song, I remember I think it was last year when I finally saw the video to that song.
- 9:51Rick Costa: I was like oh that's really nice.
- 9:52Rick Costa: Oh, it was you to say okay, that's why oh my goodness.
- 9:55Rick Costa: Yeah, but I think of that other.
- 9:57Rick Costa: Who's the guy that died?
- 9:58Rick Costa: The one that sings mama?
- 9:59Rick Costa: Who sings that Mustache?
- 10:02Rick Costa: Who sings that Mustache?
- 10:04Carmen Lezeth: I can't figure that one out.
- 10:05Carmen Lezeth: I don't know what the song is you're singing.
- 10:07Rick Costa: He sang it in concert, like his last concert.
- 10:09Rick Costa: Even he sang it to his mom as she watched Sing it.
- 10:12Rick Costa: That's all I remember.
- 10:13Rick Costa: She's like mama.
- 10:15Rick Costa: He has a thick mustache.
- 10:16Rick Costa: He died.
- 10:17Rick Costa: Freddie Mercury Is that what you're talking about.
- 10:18Rick Costa: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I couldn't think of he died a long time ago but I know, yeah, I forget that that's a very famous song because that's the only reason I know, because it's that famous I'm just trying to get the name of the song.
- 10:30Carmen Lezeth: It's killing me, okay.
- 10:32Carmen Lezeth: Somebody in the audience I'm like because I, okay, anyways, it's freddie mercury, but it's so funny because he's died like a long time ago.
- 10:39Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, and freddie mercury is one of my favorites prince.
- 10:42Carmen Lezeth: Anyway, we don't have to go down that whole road.
- 10:44Carmen Lezeth: You know what it just hurt me when you just sang that song.
- 10:47Carmen Lezeth: I don't know why.
- 10:50Carmen Lezeth: Did Prince ever do a mama song, like a song about his mom, I don't know.
- 10:53Carmen Lezeth: I'd have to hear it.
- 10:55Carmen Lezeth: I don't think, I don't know.
- 10:56Carmen Lezeth: So Prince would do certain covers of certain songs.
- 11:00Carmen Lezeth: I don't recall if he ever did a cover of anything by Queen which is Ferdinand Mercury, as Queen.
- 11:08Rick Costa: I just thought, since he wrote so many songs, that maybe he had one for his mom maybe I don't know.
- 11:12Carmen Lezeth: I know this is sacrilege to all fans of Prince.
- 11:17Carmen Lezeth: I don't know every single song of every single artist I love and I know this song you were talking about.
- 11:23Carmen Lezeth: Can't think of the name of it.
- 11:24Carmen Lezeth: The thing is, it's like happy birthday.
- 11:25Carmen Lezeth: Everybody should know this song you were talking about.
- 11:25Carmen Lezeth: Can't think of the name of it.
- 11:26Carmen Lezeth: The thing is, it's like happy birthday.
- 11:26Carmen Lezeth: Everybody should know this song, because that's not the chorus.
- 11:30Carmen Lezeth: I'm just a poor girl.
- 11:32Carmen Lezeth: That's just the beginning what you're singing is the beginning.
- 11:35Rick Costa: Oh, that's not the same song, I think so.
- 11:38Carmen Lezeth: Okay, now you're going to make me look it up.
- 11:39Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 11:40Carmen Lezeth: Now I'm getting confused because the part you sang is not the.
- 11:43Carmen Lezeth: It's a beautiful part of it, but it's not the whole song.
- 11:47Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I'm going to be condemned by Queen fans, prince fans right now.
- 11:53Carmen Lezeth: Thank you, I just want to say thank you so much.
- 11:56Rick Costa: Because I think I remember he did like a huge concert and it was televised and he said his mama was watching him sing that song and I was like oh Well, maybe yeah.
- 12:05Carmen Lezeth: He said his mama was watching him sing that song and I was like, oh Well, maybe yeah.
- 12:07Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, yeah, and I don't know if he wrote the song for her.
- 12:07Rick Costa: I don't, no, I don't know.
- 12:09Carmen Lezeth: I don't know everything.
- 12:10Carmen Lezeth: I know it's a shocker.
- 12:11Carmen Lezeth: I know it's a shocker, I don't know.
- 12:13Rick Costa: The heart just stopped.
- 12:14Carmen Lezeth: Everything Right.
- 12:15Carmen Lezeth: I know what I know Favorite moment of your mom.
- 12:21Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I'm going to go first because you're going to deflect.
- 12:24Carmen Lezeth: You're like you don't know much trouble I just had today with my mom.
- 12:29Rick Costa: No, it was not a bad day.
- 12:31Carmen Lezeth: No.
- 12:31Carmen Lezeth: So look at again.
- 12:33Carmen Lezeth: My mom died when I was really little.
- 12:35Carmen Lezeth: I don't remember much and that's what sometimes I focus on, that I wish I remembered.
- 12:39Carmen Lezeth: I don't remember what she looks like.
- 12:40Carmen Lezeth: I have some pictures, but they're not really of when I was a kid, it's like before she had me, or so.
- 12:48Carmen Lezeth: I think that's always a sadness for me to not be able to remember.
- 12:51Carmen Lezeth: And then sometimes, when I do remember, it's fuzzy, like it becomes like a montage of Maya Angelou, like other people who I think represent something of my mom.
- 13:03Carmen Lezeth: So it's always weird.
- 13:04Carmen Lezeth: So I was trying to think about it today and I was like there's a photo of me and my mom that I have.
- 13:10Carmen Lezeth: We're in a photo booth and I'm really little and it's the only picture I really think looks like what she might have looked like when she was alive and I was around her.
- 13:20Carmen Lezeth: But I'm really small in that picture.
- 13:22Carmen Lezeth: I'm really a little kid, so I like that picture.
- 13:24Carmen Lezeth: I'm really a little kid, so I like that picture.
- 13:26Rick Costa: Kids.
- 13:26Rick Costa: Today they're taken for granted.
- 13:28Rick Costa: Everybody got pictures of everything today because we got the phones and everything, so they take it for granted.
- 13:32Rick Costa: We didn't have that when we were little.
- 13:34Carmen Lezeth: Now in my house.
- 13:35Rick Costa: My mom took a bajillion pictures of everything, so we got tons oh my God Books and books full of pictures.
- 13:41Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, but here's the thing Are they Polaroids or whatever?
- 13:44Rick Costa: they were back then.
- 13:45Rick Costa: A lot of them are.
- 13:45Rick Costa: A lot of them are.
- 13:46Carmen Lezeth: So I remember and this isn't my mom, but I remember vaguely as a kid that we collective, we didn't have cameras, like they were expensive back then to have a Polaroid I can't even say that word very well, but Polaroid and it would come out so you'd have a camera for all the kids who were listening and it would be bulky, it would be big, it'd be like maybe half of this, right, it would be like half of this thing or something, right Like that.
- 14:21Carmen Lezeth: And and you would take the picture.
- 14:22Rick Costa: And now, no, you had to pose and the button was like a slider on the bottom and it was awkward, I'm like, because how do you not shake the camera and do it at the same?
- 14:30Carmen Lezeth: time and you would go whatever, and then it would come out right then and there and that was cool and it would be all white and then it would fade into the picture.
- 14:41Carmen Lezeth: It would take I don't know like a minute or two and if.
- 14:44Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I forgot about that, but that was a really cool kind of thing, but we didn't appreciate it then, but we couldn't really afford that.
- 14:51Carmen Lezeth: So that's what I'm saying.
- 14:52Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if it's we didn't have a lot of pictures, but I think we did not, because we didn't have a camera all the time or the film, cause you had to buy that film all the time.
- 15:02Rick Costa: Yeah, yeah, my mom, she was crazy with that.
- 15:05Rick Costa: And then she had the little square bulbs that you had to put on top and they got.
- 15:09Rick Costa: Yeah, yeah, they got hot too.
- 15:13Rick Costa: If you touched it, you were getting burnt after that thing, oh my god, rick, I forgot about that.
- 15:18Carmen Lezeth: So on our phones it automatically changes the light or you can, whatever, but you had to buy and you'd screw it on, yeah yeah, you had four times.
- 15:27Rick Costa: It was a square that's right.
- 15:30Carmen Lezeth: Oh, each flash was a picture, and then you had to.
- 15:32Carmen Lezeth: You used all four and then you use another one.
- 15:34Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, we didn't have that on a regular basis, I'm sure of it now.
- 15:39Carmen Lezeth: That's or you would have a camera, not thearoid, and then you would take all the pictures that you were allowed the film.
- 15:47Carmen Lezeth: It was like a little film canister and you'd put it into the camera 35 millimeter.
- 15:53Carmen Lezeth: Whatever?
- 15:54Carmen Lezeth: I don't even know you would take the pictures and be like what?
- 15:57Carmen Lezeth: Like 25 or 30 pictures.
- 16:00Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, something like that, hey, every kid in the room pay attention.
- 16:03Carmen Lezeth: You would then take the canister, the film canister, out and you would walk your butt to the local Photoshop or grocery store that would handle it, or whatever, and then you'd have to wait seven days to pick it up.
- 16:17Rick Costa: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's true.
- 16:19Rick Costa: Photo Mat, I think, was the place we had here here, was like a little booth.
- 16:22Rick Costa: It wasn't even like an had here here was like a little booth.
- 16:24Rick Costa: It wasn't even like an official building, it was like a little booth and I'm like you sit in this little thing, where do you do all the work?
- 16:32Rick Costa: I must send it off, obviously.
- 16:34Carmen Lezeth: I remember we would go into the grocery store Maybe there was a little annex or something but we'd be in the grocery store and you could leave them.
- 16:41Carmen Lezeth: And then we would not, we, but you could leave them.
- 16:42Carmen Lezeth: And then we would not, we, but you could pick it up the next time you came shopping or something.
- 16:46Carmen Lezeth: But it would always be like at least five days, and then you had to pay for that.
- 16:49Rick Costa: Yeah.
- 16:50Carmen Lezeth: So they did it for free and remember they came in those white envelopes.
- 16:54Rick Costa: Oh my gosh, we still have some.
- 16:56Rick Costa: I'm sure we have some here, I'm sure.
- 16:57Carmen Lezeth: That's so cool.
- 16:58Carmen Lezeth: So you would go and you would pick up your pictures a week later and you'd be excited and you open it up.
- 17:03Carmen Lezeth: And the worst feeling was when you would open it up and it would be like blurry, yeah, and then there would be like two great pictures or something.
- 17:12Carmen Lezeth: But when it all came out great, it was awesome.
- 17:14Rick Costa: But yeah, oh, my god, I hadn't thought about that in forever yeah, I remember we had like one that was like a rectangular like this and I had the bulb thing.
- 17:24Rick Costa: It's just like a little button on top.
- 17:25Rick Costa: Then we had like one like this.
- 17:26Rick Costa: We actually did have a flash weddings.
- 17:29Carmen Lezeth: I see those a lot still at weddings because they put them on every table at the reception and then people.
- 17:34Carmen Lezeth: So there has to.
- 17:35Carmen Lezeth: You're right.
- 17:35Carmen Lezeth: There's still these places that do that.
- 17:37Carmen Lezeth: You're right, there has to be and the um.
- 17:40Rick Costa: Oh yeah, that's another thing too yes, that's right, mel Melanie Now we got Photoshop to get rid of that mess.
- 17:46Rick Costa: Yeah, or whatever.
- 17:48Carmen Lezeth: And it automatically does it too.
- 17:49Carmen Lezeth: It can fix it too, yeah.
- 17:51Rick Costa: Definitely.
- 17:52Carmen Lezeth: What were you saying about the flat ones?
- 17:54Carmen Lezeth: I forgot.
- 17:55Rick Costa: I interrupted you.
- 17:56Carmen Lezeth: It's all good, that's right, but what are some good memories you remember with your mom?
- 18:01Carmen Lezeth: If you don't, it's okay.
- 18:07Rick Costa: One.
- 18:08Rick Costa: Remember with your mom.
- 18:08Rick Costa: If you don't, it's okay.
- 18:09Rick Costa: One thing was her cooking.
- 18:10Rick Costa: Cooking, she could cook, oh, she could cook.
- 18:11Rick Costa: Past tense she could cook, oh, yes, she could.
- 18:12Rick Costa: My god, kodak box camera oh, I remember those two.
- 18:16Carmen Lezeth: They were like disposable ones you used to say remember, there's a podcast.
- 18:20Carmen Lezeth: So melanie just said my dad had a kodak, kodak I box camera, I know, because it's been so long.
- 18:29Carmen Lezeth: No, the only reason why I say that is because, part of again, I'm always going to complain about editing until I have an editor.
- 18:34Carmen Lezeth: Sorry, you're all going to have to hear it again, because what ends up happening is, if I don't mention it, it doesn't make sense in just the audio version, and then I have to figure out a way to edit it out.
- 18:44Carmen Lezeth: And what ends up happening that's really hard is if we go back like we talk about something else and then we talk about oh yeah, when Melanie said da-da-da-da-da, I have to go find that too.
- 18:54Rick Costa: Yeah, but I remember they had disposables and you literally took the pictures and then you turn the entire camera in for the development of the pictures, the whole thing.
- 19:02Carmen Lezeth: I think they still do that at weddings that's the only place I've seen it Because they want every table at the reception to have a camera and not just use their phone.
- 19:10Carmen Lezeth: So they ask you to take pictures and then you give it back to the bride's cousin or whatever's happening, and they get them developed.
- 19:19Rick Costa: And that reminds me of something else.
- 19:21Rick Costa: I don't want to get off the mama thing, but that reminds me of something else.
- 19:22Rick Costa: I don't want to get off the mama thing, but that reminds me of that post I sent you about the controversial guy that did the favor of taking pictures and they wouldn't feed him.
- 19:29Rick Costa: Did you read that thing?
- 19:30Carmen Lezeth: I sent you.
- 19:31Carmen Lezeth: Oh yeah, I did see that.
- 19:31Carmen Lezeth: I don't know If we're going to talk about it and we can, I don't mind at all.
- 19:35Rick Costa: Yeah, I know.
- 19:58Carmen Lezeth: We can talk about the mom stuff first.
- 19:59Carmen Lezeth: But yeah, no, no.
- 20:00Rick Costa: So the video post was.
- 20:00Rick Costa: It was like an Instagram or TikTok post and it was about a guy.
- 20:02Rick Costa: A photographer took a bunch of pictures at a wedding and then he wanted a plate of food, a favor, and take the pictures, and he paid him for $250, which otherwise that is ridiculously cheap and so he took all the pictures and then he's starving here.
- 20:15Rick Costa: Can I have some food too?
- 20:16Rick Costa: And they said no.
- 20:20Carmen Lezeth: So here's the problem I have with all of this.
- 20:22Carmen Lezeth: Number one is just, the comments went back and forth before I make my statement on it.
- 20:28Carmen Lezeth: So people were saying he was paid, he's a professional, he shouldn't expect to have food.
- 20:33Carmen Lezeth: That was the thing, right, like you're getting paid for a job, you're not there to eat, you have to do your job and I don't know starve to death or whatever.
- 20:42Carmen Lezeth: And other people were saying is it's just common courtesy, it's just you have someone come and work for you.
- 20:48Carmen Lezeth: And then I thought I read something where people were like they're not feeding all the crew that put up the tents, or you know.
- 20:54Carmen Lezeth: So I guess I don't know.
- 20:56Carmen Lezeth: Here's my thing.
- 20:57Carmen Lezeth: Why don't we hear your perspective?
- 21:00Rick Costa: The thing that's different is that was his friend and he told his friend no, you can't eat.
- 21:05Rick Costa: I'm like what.
- 21:06Rick Costa: First of all, I'm doing you a favor, giving you a stupid cheap price, and you can't let me have some food for real.
- 21:13Rick Costa: And then so one of the comments was like what if it was something super expensive?
- 21:17Rick Costa: And they just had shoestring budget.
- 21:20Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, it was not expensive.
- 21:22Carmen Lezeth: Here's the thing that would actually be worse to me.
- 21:24Carmen Lezeth: Why are you paying me only $250 if you, you know I spent so much more on you know what I mean?
- 21:30Carmen Lezeth: Like that would be weird.
- 21:31Rick Costa: Yeah, but I feel like give the man some food.
- 21:34Rick Costa: That's your friend, my God.
- 21:36Carmen Lezeth: But even if it wasn't his friend, I just think there's a weird I've been saying this for a long time a weird idea of what manners are, what common sense is, what courtesy is To me.
- 21:52Carmen Lezeth: If somebody's hey, can I grab a plate, they shouldn't even be asked, he shouldn't even have to ask.
- 22:00Rick Costa: Yeah, because I would have been even thinking about him like hey, are you hungry, You've been doing a lot of work, blah, blah, blah.
- 22:05Rick Costa: I would have been like even thinking about him like hey, are you hungry, Like you've been doing a lot of work.
- 22:08Carmen Lezeth: I would have asked before he had to ask, I would offer.
- 22:09Carmen Lezeth: I have never been to a wedding.
- 22:11Carmen Lezeth: I've never worked at a wedding, so I guess that's different.
- 22:12Carmen Lezeth: But I have never been to an event anywhere where there's food that I didn't feel like I could eat something.
- 22:19Carmen Lezeth: I don't know what professionals go through, but that's happy.
- 22:24Rick Costa: We still didn't say the punchline of what happened.
- 22:28Carmen Lezeth: Oh, no, tell me.
- 22:28Rick Costa: How he got petty.
- 22:29Rick Costa: He deleted all the pictures.
- 22:33Rick Costa: We forgot that part.
- 22:34Rick Costa: He deleted them all.
- 22:35Rick Costa: I'm like bro, what that's yikes.
- 22:38Rick Costa: I understand you're mad, but ooh, that's somebody's one time in a lifetime memory.
- 22:44Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, that you just deleted.
- 22:46Carmen Lezeth: Okay, but that's your friend and you just dissed me, probably embarrassed me.
- 22:52Carmen Lezeth: That's a friend, come on.
- 22:55Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, you know what I'm petty.
- 22:58Carmen Lezeth: When I need to be petty I am.
- 23:00Carmen Lezeth: I will admit it right now, especially when it's something stupid like this.
- 23:05Carmen Lezeth: That's just and I know it's mean.
- 23:07Carmen Lezeth: But maybe what he did was he just said he deleted them.
- 23:10Carmen Lezeth: That is probably like in the heat of a moment of an argument.
- 23:14Carmen Lezeth: Maybe I would have been like I just deleted them, I'm out and I would have left or whatever.
- 23:17Carmen Lezeth: But maybe he didn't and maybe in a few years he might give it back, who knows.
- 23:22Carmen Lezeth: But I have no problem with his reaction.
- 23:25Rick Costa: Maybe in a few years he might give it back.
- 23:28Rick Costa: Who knows?
- 23:29Rick Costa: But I have no problem with his reaction.
- 23:29Rick Costa: Yeah, yeah, if it wasn't a friend I would have been like but that's your friend, what are you doing?
- 23:31Rick Costa: I know, still, you should have gave him food either way, but that's your friend.
- 23:35Rick Costa: You can't give your friends some food, seriously.
- 23:37Rick Costa: Somebody said why didn't he bring a lunch?
- 23:39Rick Costa: Hey, Charlie, hey, charlie, the photographer deleted all the wedding pictures because they wouldn't give him food.
- 23:47Carmen Lezeth: I'm okay with it, charlie, I'm going to be petty.
- 23:49Carmen Lezeth: So I don't know.
- 23:52Carmen Lezeth: I just think it's a weird situation all around.
- 23:55Carmen Lezeth: I don't understand why.
- 23:57Carmen Lezeth: First of all, I would say to him never, ever, do a favor for a friend.
- 24:02Carmen Lezeth: If you're going to do a favor for a friend, just say you know what I'm good, don't pay me.
- 24:07Carmen Lezeth: I'll just do this as a.
- 24:08Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 24:10Carmen Lezeth: That's what I would do.
- 24:10Carmen Lezeth: I'm not going to do business with friends.
- 24:13Carmen Lezeth: Because that kind of thing happened.
- 24:15Carmen Lezeth: And who knows who said it.
- 24:16Carmen Lezeth: Was it the friend, or maybe the mother-in-law or the?
- 24:24Carmen Lezeth: I don't know?
- 24:25Carmen Lezeth: Who said to him he can't have food Right, it wasn't an Italian.
- 24:27Carmen Lezeth: Or a Spanish one.
- 24:29Rick Costa: Or a Portuguese one either.
- 24:31Carmen Lezeth: My God, yeah, or a decent human being, one, clearly.
- 24:35Carmen Lezeth: So, rick, why don't you share a favorite moment with your mom?
- 24:40Carmen Lezeth: Or you don't have to if you don't want to, you don't want to no, I'm just trying to go back and think.
- 24:45Rick Costa: One thing that we used to do as a family all the time was go to the beach a lot in the summertime and the weekends, and that was always fun.
- 24:52Rick Costa: But my mom, she wasn't swimming, she like put her feet in the water and that's it.
- 24:56Rick Costa: And my dad would try never, she never went swimming she didn't swim, no, no, and and it was.
- 25:03Rick Costa: Oh my god, the food was insane.
- 25:07Carmen Lezeth: I think the food makes everything.
- 25:10Carmen Lezeth: Do you remember High?
- 25:11Carmen Lezeth: Was it High?
- 25:12Carmen Lezeth: Look at Charlie.
- 25:13Carmen Lezeth: Can you do this, dude?
- 25:16Carmen Lezeth: Can you do this with your phone?
- 25:19Charlie Mattera: What.
- 25:20Carmen Lezeth: Can you do this with your phone?
- 25:22Carmen Lezeth: There you go, beautiful man, how you doing.
- 25:24Charlie Mattera: Hey, what's up, guys, hey?
- 25:26Carmen Lezeth: How are you?
- 25:27Carmen Lezeth: I'm good.
- 25:28Rick Costa: You know your hand is covering the camera.
- 25:32Carmen Lezeth: You got to hold your doobie with the other hand and hold the camera.
- 25:35Carmen Lezeth: I got this over here, I know but we can't see you there you go, oh, okay.
- 25:40Carmen Lezeth: Don't drop the doobie just got to do with your other hand the whole world could use a good fight.
- 25:49Charlie Mattera: All the depressant right now so how was your wedding?
- 25:55Carmen Lezeth: were you cheap?
- 25:56Charlie Mattera: I told you remember, I told you, I told ryan, I came and I told him I said hey, I'm gonna get married, I want you to stand in for me.
- 26:05Charlie Mattera: And he says yeah where we where we gonna get.
- 26:06Charlie Mattera: I said we'll do it on the beach in Santa Monica, just me, you, nat and folks.
- 26:10Charlie Mattera: And he looked at me and went what are you nuts?
- 26:11Charlie Mattera: The guy's jogging around sweating all over the place, people throwing frisbees, dogs.
- 26:19Charlie Mattera: We'll do it behind my house, right on the beach in Malibu, he says we'll invite everybody.
- 26:25Charlie Mattera: You wouldn't believe the people that showed up at my wedding.
- 26:29Carmen Lezeth: Now you've got to drop the tea.
- 26:30Carmen Lezeth: What the hell is that?
- 26:31Carmen Lezeth: I wouldn't believe it.
- 26:33Charlie Mattera: No, it was insane.
- 26:34Charlie Mattera: It was like actors, gangsters.
- 26:36Charlie Mattera: It was like I looked up over the beach I was like holy shit, look who's here?
- 26:39Charlie Mattera: Did he just get out?
- 26:42Charlie Mattera: I'm looking, you're so bad.
- 26:45Charlie Mattera: No, it was nice.
- 26:46Charlie Mattera: It was like 100 people on the beach and they had this thing.
- 26:51Charlie Mattera: What are they called?
- 26:52Charlie Mattera: The hopa the thing?
- 26:54Carmen Lezeth: I don't know what the thing is.
- 26:55Carmen Lezeth: What is that you?
- 26:56Charlie Mattera: know the thing that you get married underneath.
- 26:58Rick Costa: That was on the beach Like a canopy.
- 26:59Charlie Mattera: Roses all over it, oh yeah.
- 27:01Rick Costa: Canopy Roses all over it Some kind of archway dealio.
- 27:03Rick Costa: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:05Charlie Mattera: No, and it was really cool, and the dolphins showed up and they were jumping around.
- 27:09Charlie Mattera: Yeah, I saw dolphins the other day actually that's when I realized that dolphins don't need to be trained to do those flippages and stuff.
- 27:17Charlie Mattera: They do that.
- 27:19Carmen Lezeth: All the time they're hanging out and playing.
- 27:21Carmen Lezeth: Okay.
- 27:22Carmen Lezeth: When did you get married?
- 27:23Carmen Lezeth: What month was it?
- 27:24Carmen Lezeth: Let's see, that was oh shit okay, never mind, we'll edit this out so your wife doesn't hear it.
- 27:31Charlie Mattera: I forget what month it was, but I know it's 16 and a half years ago, yeah has it been that long?
- 27:39Charlie Mattera: I went to Ryan's service recently.
- 27:42Charlie Mattera: They had it at the DGA.
- 27:43Charlie Mattera: I come walking in and everybody has it been that long.
- 27:45Charlie Mattera: I went to Ryan's service recently.
- 27:46Charlie Mattera: They had it at the DGA.
- 27:47Charlie Mattera: Yeah, I come walking in and everybody sees me and they're like, oh shit, charlie's here.
- 27:51Charlie Mattera: They're all ducking for the exits.
- 27:53Charlie Mattera: They know I'm about to go and you never liked you.
- 27:57Charlie Mattera: I was such a gentleman, I was so well behaved, but it's funny because everybody's gathered around me and Natalie and all.
- 28:03Charlie Mattera: All of a sudden, a couple of the girls are like Natalie, you guys are still married, you haven't gotten rid of him yet.
- 28:08Charlie Mattera: And my wife looks at them because that's an LA compliment.
- 28:12Charlie Mattera: I'm sorry, that's a showbiz compliment.
- 28:15Charlie Mattera: You haven't gotten rid of him yet, traded up.
- 28:18Charlie Mattera: Natalie looks at them.
- 28:22Charlie Mattera: He goes no, now we're together till the hubcaps fall off.
- 28:24Charlie Mattera: Yeah, you found a good one.
- 28:27Charlie Mattera: She's a tough lady.
- 28:29Carmen Lezeth: It's been 16 years.
- 28:31Charlie Mattera: Yeah, isn't that crazy 16 years.
- 28:35Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, that's really weird.
- 28:36Carmen Lezeth: How old is your son again In.
- 28:38Charlie Mattera: LA Like 50.
- 28:40Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, no, that's a good one 25 or something.
- 28:42Carmen Lezeth: How old is the boy, as you call him, the?
- 28:45Charlie Mattera: boy, he's 16 now, ryan.
- 28:46Charlie Mattera: Yeah, that's right, that's right, he's like this he's like this big.
- 28:51Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I don't want people to get confused, but his son's name is after his godfather, ryan O'Neal, so that's his son's name.
- 29:05Charlie Mattera: I said don't know what it's going to be.
- 29:06Charlie Mattera: If it's a boy it's ryan, and if it's a girl it's ryan.
- 29:07Charlie Mattera: I guess I get the picture.
- 29:09Charlie Mattera: Hey, for all his madness and all his weirdness, my boy, he was a good guy, he was original.
- 29:17Charlie Mattera: I've never met anyone else like him.
- 29:19Charlie Mattera: When he was at his best he could put me in tears, man, he could just make me crack up.
- 29:25Charlie Mattera: He would do this outlandish stuff.
- 29:26Carmen Lezeth: You're still mourning about him.
- 29:28Carmen Lezeth: You're still mourning.
- 29:30Charlie Mattera: Yeah, it was a rough couple of years because I lost my cousin, who was like my big brother.
- 29:36Charlie Mattera: I told you how I found him.
- 29:38Charlie Mattera: I was watching television after I came back from college and all of a sudden there's an ad for Big Brothers of Queens.
- 29:44Charlie Mattera: And there he is.
- 29:45Charlie Mattera: Wow, cousin Charles.
- 29:47Charlie Mattera: You know what?
- 29:48Charlie Mattera: You didn't tell me that.
- 29:49Charlie Mattera: I was like holy shit, this isn't a Cousin Charles.
- 29:52Charlie Mattera: So I called the Big Brothers people.
- 29:54Charlie Mattera: I said look, here's my telephone number.
- 29:56Charlie Mattera: Tell them this is Cousin Charles.
- 29:57Charlie Mattera: Tell them I said the freaking call.
- 29:59Charlie Mattera: And then, within it was like an hour, all of a sudden he called me up and we were hanging out like it was old times.
- 30:06Charlie Mattera: Wow, and he died suddenly Is he here.
- 30:09Carmen Lezeth: now Is he in Los Angeles now, you met him.
- 30:12Charlie Mattera: I think you saw him walking around.
- 30:13Charlie Mattera: He was like 6'5" big and handsome.
- 30:16Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, that's right.
- 30:18Charlie Mattera: Yeah, yeah, and all the ladies in the gym Charles is your cousin, Is he?
- 30:23Charlie Mattera: I go?
- 30:26Charlie Mattera: No, no, take him to dinner.
- 30:27Charlie Mattera: I do remember him.
- 30:29Charlie Mattera: I treat him like a manservant.
- 30:32Charlie Mattera: I said he's game.
- 30:33Charlie Mattera: A manservant, he's game, Don't worry about it.
- 30:37Carmen Lezeth: It's so weird because I'm having so many flashbacks of things I haven't thought about in a long time.
- 30:42Charlie Mattera: He was one of the funniest people.
- 30:44Charlie Mattera: He was always with me.
- 30:46Charlie Mattera: He was with me when I used to get in trouble?
- 30:47Carmen Lezeth: Why are you saying was what happened?
- 30:49Charlie Mattera: No, he passed away this past year.
- 30:51Carmen Lezeth: That's right.
- 30:52Carmen Lezeth: You were sick, that's right.
- 30:54Charlie Mattera: My dad croaked and that was just.
- 30:56Charlie Mattera: I never got to get right with him.
- 30:58Charlie Mattera: I never saw the guy for 40 years.
- 31:00Charlie Mattera: But I never saw the guy for 40 years.
- 31:01Charlie Mattera: But we started talking on the phone again.
- 31:03Charlie Mattera: Hey, what am I going to do?
- 31:04Charlie Mattera: Hey, charles, you want a clock ball?
- 31:06Charlie Mattera: You want a candy bar?
- 31:08Charlie Mattera: I'm going to go get some smokes.
- 31:09Charlie Mattera: Anybody want a candy bar or something?
- 31:11Carmen Lezeth: You guys didn't, you couldn't talk, and that was it.
- 31:13Carmen Lezeth: Yeah.
- 31:15Charlie Mattera: It was still uncomfortable.
- 31:16Carmen Lezeth: It was still uncomfortable.
- 31:17Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I was 12, or?
- 31:20Charlie Mattera: 13.
- 31:20Charlie Mattera: Yeah, I'm coming.
- 31:20Charlie Mattera: I'll be there next week.
- 31:21Charlie Mattera: You're sitting in the window as a little kid.
- 31:23Charlie Mattera: You got your mom over your shoulder, what do?
- 31:25Charlie Mattera: You love him so much for I'm the one that stayed.
- 31:27Charlie Mattera: Love me.
- 31:27Charlie Mattera: That's fucking insane yeah.
- 31:29Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, you did talk a lot about some stuff, but I didn't put it all in the podcast.
- 31:33Charlie Mattera: We're smashing it in here, some kind of way.
- 31:37Carmen Lezeth: No, I'm glad I don't always put in.
- 31:40Charlie Mattera: Let's get back to the guy who wouldn't give up the pictures because he couldn't get no chow at the wedding.
- 31:45Charlie Mattera: Go ahead, maybe.
- 31:46Rick Costa: He said he deleted them.
- 31:47Charlie Mattera: he says supposedly oh, that's just awful.
- 31:49Charlie Mattera: You know what I'm a big fan of.
- 31:53Charlie Mattera: I like what Michelle Obama said you go low, I go high.
- 31:58Charlie Mattera: You want to treat me like a fucking hump because you got no class.
- 32:03Charlie Mattera: It says more about them than it says about the guy.
- 32:05Charlie Mattera: That's true.
- 32:06Charlie Mattera: What he, what he should have done was look here's your fucking pictures and just split I you know what.
- 32:11Carmen Lezeth: I'm okay with his reaction.
- 32:13Carmen Lezeth: That was his friend and I don't think he actually deleted the pictures.
- 32:16Charlie Mattera: He might have just said it and walked away, I think just send the whole family in horror to think that all of you for what?
- 32:24Charlie Mattera: For the month or half he's gonna go sulk.
- 32:26Charlie Mattera: I'm just like okay, charlie, be a man his friend.
- 32:30Carmen Lezeth: His friend wouldn't give him a plate of fucking food.
- 32:33Charlie Mattera: No, I get it.
- 32:34Charlie Mattera: I get it.
- 32:35Charlie Mattera: But that would have been the moment I went.
- 32:37Charlie Mattera: What you don't want me chowing with the fucking the swells with the guests.
- 32:42Charlie Mattera: I would have pulled out the disc, I would have stuck it in the fucking potato salad and I would have said smell you later.
- 32:50Charlie Mattera: Or that high class wedding.
- 32:51Charlie Mattera: They would have had the chicken I would have stuffed it in.
- 32:53Charlie Mattera: I would have split.
- 32:56Charlie Mattera: I would have you know go find it in the cocktail sauce.
- 33:00Carmen Lezeth: You know what I'm okay with.
- 33:01Carmen Lezeth: I'm okay.
- 33:02Charlie Mattera: You gotta be old time.
- 33:04Carmen Lezeth: No, but Charlie, you're focusing on the wrong thing.
- 33:06Carmen Lezeth: His friend, look, if you did that to me, okay, let's say I'm doing something for you, I'm shooting pictures.
- 33:12Carmen Lezeth: I don't shoot pictures at all.
- 33:14Charlie Mattera: Let's say I'm doing something for you, yeah, but I would never do that.
- 33:16Carmen Lezeth: I know you wouldn't, but if you're friends I would never think you wouldn't right.
- 33:20Charlie Mattera: I give you my plate here.
- 33:23Carmen Lezeth: That's what I'm trying to say.
- 33:24Carmen Lezeth: So that's what he thought, too we're friends, now get this.
- 33:27Charlie Mattera: You brought this up.
- 33:28Charlie Mattera: I just remembered something.
- 33:29Charlie Mattera: I was shooting Gentleman Bandit in Santa Monica.
- 33:32Charlie Mattera: The guy who owned the bank gave us the bank to shoot him.
- 33:35Charlie Mattera: He came over to me.
- 33:37Charlie Mattera: He was like Charlie, when did anybody ever say to you here's the keys to the?
- 33:41Carmen Lezeth: bank To the bank.
- 33:42Charlie Mattera: We're having dinner at the dinner break and all of a sudden I hear that there's a problem.
- 33:49Charlie Mattera: There's these homeless guys that buy craft service and blah, blah, blah.
- 33:53Charlie Mattera: And I went what the fuck, what's going on?
- 33:56Charlie Mattera: And it was my birthday that day.
- 33:57Charlie Mattera: So I walked back to them and I go what the fuck's going on?
- 34:01Charlie Mattera: And they go oh, these homeless guys, man, they think we're going to feed them.
- 34:04Charlie Mattera: And I said fucking, feed them.
- 34:07Charlie Mattera: I said life sucks.
- 34:09Charlie Mattera: I said we're in their fucking house and they're nice enough to leave us be.
- 34:12Charlie Mattera: I said hey, guys, what do you want?
- 34:15Charlie Mattera: And I had a plate of my own and Ryan was right there and Leslie Stephenson was over there.
- 34:20Charlie Mattera: Ed Lauder was around.
- 34:21Charlie Mattera: He was passed away.
- 34:22Charlie Mattera: God rest his soul.
- 34:24Charlie Mattera: My producers are there.
- 34:25Charlie Mattera: My producer's brother, he's screaming and yelling.
- 34:27Charlie Mattera: I said dude, calm the fuck down.
- 34:29Charlie Mattera: You're a millionaire.
- 34:31Charlie Mattera: The guy has something to eat, man.
- 34:33Charlie Mattera: I gave him my plan.
- 34:34Charlie Mattera: I said here, I don't need to eat tonight.
- 34:38Carmen Lezeth: I don't like working on a full stomach.
- 34:39Carmen Lezeth: Anyhow, there's also a whole crew of food there.
- 34:41Charlie Mattera: It's not like there's not enough, but please, they're gonna throw half of it away.
- 34:45Carmen Lezeth: Right, right, that's what I'm saying and people get, so all like pearls clutching, whatever I'm just saying your food and I'll tell you where to put it.
- 34:54Carmen Lezeth: I'm just going back to the initial conversation okay I'm friends with you, I am doing something for you for less than my normal amount of money because you and I are friends, which is basically nothing.
- 35:08Carmen Lezeth: Here's what I'm saying.
- 35:09Carmen Lezeth: And then I go to grab a plate.
- 35:11Carmen Lezeth: Wherever we are, you guys are having dinner.
- 35:14Carmen Lezeth: I ask if I could have some food or whatever it is, and you say, no, carmen, we can't do that for you.
- 35:21Charlie Mattera: Oh, that's right out of wedding crashes or some shit.
- 35:23Carmen Lezeth: Exactly.
- 35:25Charlie Mattera: It's really hysterical.
- 35:27Carmen Lezeth: I'm throwing it down and walking out the house.
- 35:29Charlie Mattera: I can see the woman off to the side going.
- 35:31Charlie Mattera: We're not feeding the help.
- 35:32Charlie Mattera: With the cigarette with the giant ash on it with all the jewels.
- 35:36Charlie Mattera: Yeah exactly, this is a charity deal.
- 35:39Charlie Mattera: Yeah For sure.
- 35:41Charlie Mattera: Tell that person.
- 35:46Charlie Mattera: Whoever somebody in the vicinity Came up with that bullshit idea Of not letting homeboy get a plate, I don't know for whatever weird Freak show.
- 35:52Carmen Lezeth: I think it wasn't the friend.
- 35:55Charlie Mattera: It's not the friend he's covering for somebody, a mother-in-law or somebody.
- 36:00Charlie Mattera: I would go with whoever's paying for the child For the wedding.
- 36:04Charlie Mattera: That's who I would go with.
- 36:05Charlie Mattera: Who's?
- 36:05Carmen Lezeth: he Exactly.
- 36:06Carmen Lezeth: Okay wait, you just dropped your phone.
- 36:09Carmen Lezeth: What happened, dude Charlie?
- 36:12Charlie Mattera: you dropped the phone.
- 36:13Charlie Mattera: I'm still here.
- 36:15Charlie Mattera: Where is it?
- 36:15Charlie Mattera: Did I do it right?
- 36:18Charlie Mattera: I don't think so.
- 36:21Carmen Lezeth: Wow, we could have planned this.
- 36:22Carmen Lezeth: Wait, what's wrong?
- 36:24Carmen Lezeth: Did you fall?
- 36:25Rick Costa: We lost the video of Charlie, by the way.
- 36:27Rick Costa: Podcaster people.
- 36:29Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, his video is out.
- 36:31Charlie Mattera: But you can still hear me, yeah.
- 36:36Carmen Lezeth: But it's all black.
- 36:38Charlie Mattera: I don't know what I'm looking for here.
- 36:39Charlie Mattera: Come on, this is like some newfangled BS.
- 36:42Charlie Mattera: I'm just a country.
- 36:42Charlie Mattera: Come on, this is like some newfangled BS.
- 36:44Charlie Mattera: I'm just a country bumpkin.
- 36:46Carmen Lezeth: Right, you could also log off and come back up, but it's okay because we're going to wrap up soon anyway.
- 36:52Carmen Lezeth: Why don't you?
- 36:53Charlie Mattera: guys wrap up and talk about some niceness, don't?
- 36:59Carmen Lezeth: jump off.
- 36:59Carmen Lezeth: I want to see your face again.
- 37:01Charlie Mattera: I don't know how to do it.
- 37:02Charlie Mattera: I don't know what I'm doing here.
- 37:03Charlie Mattera: Wait, that's oh, he's gone, he's gone.
- 37:08Carmen Lezeth: He just logged off by accident.
- 37:10Carmen Lezeth: Maybe he'll come back on.
- 37:12Carmen Lezeth: Charlie, we love you.
- 37:13Carmen Lezeth: He's so funny.
- 37:14Carmen Lezeth: He could just talk and make you laugh and whatever, and you would just be engaged the whole time and none of us have to talk.
- 37:25Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, he's such a fucking storyteller.
- 37:26Rick Costa: sorry everyone with your little ears might hurt.
- 37:27Carmen Lezeth: Oh my god, I swore I just I could listen to him forever, like he's so funny to me and he's such a good storyteller.
- 37:35Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I'll text him if he doesn't come back on and just make sure he's fine but it sounded like he dropped the phone yeah, yeah, because it sounded a little bit far away all of a sudden.
- 37:44Carmen Lezeth: So I was like oh, okay, but I was asking you before that happened, like who was it that was talking in the video?
- 37:50Carmen Lezeth: Was it the actual friend who asked him to do the shoot?
- 37:54Carmen Lezeth: I wish I could remember now yeah, I know what charlie's saying, but it's a bad it was just a picture.
- 38:01Rick Costa: It was just a picture.
- 38:02Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, right here oh, it was a picture, and then somebody was doing a.
- 38:06Rick Costa: Oh, it wasn't a video, it was a article or something hungry photographer deletes all photos and leaves after being denied food at wedding wow, that okay.
- 38:16Carmen Lezeth: For some reason I thought it was a video on tiktok, but it was a story.
- 38:19Carmen Lezeth: It was.
- 38:19Rick Costa: Yeah, I don't know I'm okay with what the guy did one person and I guess in brazil they were like in my country that's unheard of.
- 38:26Rick Costa: You would never do such a thing to somebody whatever I would totally be.
- 38:32Carmen Lezeth: It's not about the situation, it's about you're supposedly my friend.
- 38:36Carmen Lezeth: That's that's where I would be like, oh, done out, you know mean, okay, you still didn't share.
- 38:46Rick Costa: I said we're going to the beach with my mom.
- 38:47Rick Costa: It was fun.
- 38:48Rick Costa: We would cook out there.
- 38:49Rick Costa: My dad liked to go search for clams and crabs even little baby ones.
- 38:55Rick Costa: He loves seafood.
- 38:57Rick Costa: I was not a huge fan, but he loved doing that.
- 38:59Carmen Lezeth: I'm allergic.
- 39:00Rick Costa: in case anyone doesn't know, In case you ever go out to dinner no seafood place, no seafood, unless you want to see me have a Epilepsy.
- 39:09Carmen Lezeth: I do have my EpiPen always and notifications, but anyway, so cool.
- 39:15Carmen Lezeth: I don't remember going to the beach as a kid.
- 39:17Carmen Lezeth: I'm sure we did, but I don't really remember it bums me out or whatever.
- 39:22Carmen Lezeth: Okay, did you hear about the Transformer movie Thingamajiggy?
- 39:25Carmen Lezeth: No, you haven't heard the unbelievable praise of the new Transformer movie that is animated and starring Chris Hemsworth, scarlett Johansson, jon Hamm, lawrence Fishburne.
- 39:40Carmen Lezeth: Are you really serious?
- 39:42Rick Costa: you haven't heard of it.
- 39:42Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, no, I thought, because it was animated you and Tony and all of you boys would be and it got great reviews.
- 39:49Carmen Lezeth: It premiered.
- 39:50Carmen Lezeth: I don't think it's out yet.
- 39:51Carmen Lezeth: I think it's coming out in July for some reason.
- 39:53Rick Costa: I'm really surprised.
- 39:54Rick Costa: No, I didn't hear about that.
- 39:55Charlie Mattera: No the only thing that I heard.
- 40:05Rick Costa: You don't follow my beautiful man.
- 40:06Rick Costa: That's all I don't know.
- 40:06Rick Costa: If I do, no, I think I do, because I saw a picture of him.
- 40:07Rick Costa: He was with his family and there was like a display with a Thor's hammer at it and he joked and said I could have called that to me if I wanted to.
- 40:12Carmen Lezeth: Okay, so clearly you do not pay attention to his stream every single day.
- 40:16Carmen Lezeth: Because if you're a true fan of the beautiful Mr Chris Hemsworth Not that I'm saying I am, no, clearly I am but yeah, so I didn't even know they were doing this, but it's animation, it's not my thing, but everyone is giving it great reviews and stuff.
- 40:32Carmen Lezeth: So aren't you a Transformer person?
- 40:34Rick Costa: I liked it, but I wasn't a huge fan.
- 40:37Rick Costa: I think Tony probably was more than I was.
- 40:39Carmen Lezeth: Okay, it'll be interesting if we talk to Tony again.
- 40:42Carmen Lezeth: I don't mean to do it If I said if Tony no, so that's totally cool.
- 40:49Rick Costa: Yeah, Optimus Prime.
- 40:50Rick Costa: Whoever that actor is, he has like that amazing voice.
- 40:53Rick Costa: Sounds so cool.
- 40:54Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, but I think I don't know what, because I don't really care about Transformers at all Transformers at all.
- 41:03Carmen Lezeth: I love Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson and Lawrence Fishburne for sure.
- 41:05Carmen Lezeth: I could take or leave Jon Hamm on any day.
- 41:06Carmen Lezeth: I know people are going to freak out about that, but I don't really care.
- 41:09Carmen Lezeth: So I don't know what part Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson are playing or what they're doing, but we'll see if Tony knows anything.
- 41:16Carmen Lezeth: I thought I would just mention that.
- 41:17Carmen Lezeth: But yeah, other than that, you got anything you want to talk about, because I hit all my stuff.
- 41:23Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I do have something else, but go ahead, I do have one other thing.
- 41:26Rick Costa: This, unfortunately, is not a good thing, but a guy that used to watch a lot of his videos YouTube he had three million followers one billion views on his.
- 41:35Rick Costa: Like the car accident, his car rolled and rolled.
- 41:38Rick Costa: Because of the injuries, he ended up dying and I was like I just watched this dude three days ago.
- 41:42Carmen Lezeth: Why don't you tell people what his name is?
- 41:44Rick Costa: So he was known as Comicstorian, but his real name was Ben Potter.
- 41:48Rick Costa: In tons of videos he would retell the comic book stories, but not just.
- 41:52Rick Costa: He would animate it, do different voices and everything and be all animated and it was fun to listen to him and he's gone Like what it was in 40, only 40 years old.
- 42:01Carmen Lezeth: So it's like such it was shocked me, like right before bed is when I heard it I was like I'm gonna go to sleep now I didn't know who he was, but because I follow a lot of youtubers, when I especially when I worked on a different podcast as a producer, we had to know all the top people, whatever I thought that was sad.
- 42:15Carmen Lezeth: But he was in a car accident, so it's not even like he was sick or yeah, it was a true accident.
- 42:21Carmen Lezeth: And I don't even want to say may he rest in peace, cause I never even followed him that much, you know what I mean Like I just did it, but I'm like that's just wrong and that's nothing to do with his billions of.
- 42:32Carmen Lezeth: I don't even care about all that, but it's just he was providing a cool thing for people and I'm I don't know if he was a good person or not.
- 42:40Rick Costa: I'm like seemed like he had a wife that adored people.
- 42:44Carmen Lezeth: I would prefer sorry to be in a car accident and yeah, you know what I'm saying yeah, his best friend who also does the same thing.
- 42:54Rick Costa: I'd actually watch this other guy a lot more because I don't know he's got this really cool sounding voice.
- 42:58Rick Costa: But he did a video and I said comics explained is the name of the channel.
- 43:05Rick Costa: Now his actual name is escaping me.
- 43:06Carmen Lezeth: Oh, that's cool.
- 43:07Rick Costa: But he did a video and I'm like, oh, I'm going to need tissues.
- 43:10Rick Costa: And yeah, I was.
- 43:11Rick Costa: He was crying, I was crying.
- 43:12Rick Costa: I was like, oh man, this is so sad.
- 43:14Carmen Lezeth: I'm just okay promoting people that.
- 43:16Carmen Lezeth: That's why I asked yeah.
- 43:17Carmen Lezeth: So he did a video about his friend.
- 43:19Rick Costa: Yeah and yeah, and he said they started about the same time and their birthdays were within a few days of each other.
- 43:23Rick Costa: Something like that.
- 43:25Rick Costa: So he was like it was like we were meant to be friends and, yeah, it was tough yeah that's a downer, rick.
- 43:32Carmen Lezeth: I don't know how to make that joyful, but thank you for sharing.
- 43:34Carmen Lezeth: No, I'm just kidding.
- 43:36Rick Costa: Joyful part is live life today to the fullest, because you never know.
- 43:42Carmen Lezeth: Or just live life to the fullest.
- 43:44Carmen Lezeth: Because what's the other choice?
- 43:47Rick Costa: I'm just saying People don't live forever.
- 43:50Rick Costa: You don't know that?
- 43:51Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I know, and again, I'm not arguing with you, I'm just saying this is what I mean by living in a place of joy or from a place of joy.
- 43:58Carmen Lezeth: It's like that saying is great, but it comes from a place of fear.
- 44:01Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I don't want to die, so I better live in joy.
- 44:04Carmen Lezeth: It is counterintuitive in a way.
- 44:06Carmen Lezeth: My thing is do it because it's a better way to live.
- 44:10Rick Costa: Oh, yeah, a hundred percent.
- 44:11Carmen Lezeth: And you have joy within you.
- 44:13Carmen Lezeth: It's not something you have to find, you just got to train yourself to use it.
- 44:17Carmen Lezeth: And I always say that happiness is external.
- 44:20Carmen Lezeth: Right, and I didn't come up with that, I don't know who did, but I grabbed onto it and I get a piece of chocolate cake and I'm extremely happy when I eat it because I love chocolate cake.
- 44:29Carmen Lezeth: I get a bonus at work.
- 44:31Carmen Lezeth: I'm happy because I got acknowledged for the work I do.
- 44:34Carmen Lezeth: Happiness is an external thing, right.
- 44:37Carmen Lezeth: Happiness is something that, when it happens, it's because oh my God, I saw a rainbow.
- 44:42Carmen Lezeth: That's external.
- 44:44Carmen Lezeth: But, joy is within you, and it's something you've got to figure out how.
- 44:48Carmen Lezeth: In whatever circumstance you're in, you got to find that little piece of light, silver lining, whatever you want to call it hope and learn to live from there so that, no matter what happens to you, you can find your way through it.
- 45:02Carmen Lezeth: And that's what I did growing up, not because I'm smarter or better than anyone else, it's just.
- 45:09Carmen Lezeth: It was something that I had to figure out because of survival.
- 45:14Carmen Lezeth: And then you hone it.
- 45:16Rick Costa: Yeah.
- 45:17Carmen Lezeth: And what's that noise?
- 45:19Rick Costa: Motorcycle somewhere.
- 45:21Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, Are our speakers and mics that deep?
- 45:26Rick Costa: That's a good microphone, damn.
- 45:28Rick Costa: That's like why not live in joy?
- 45:30Rick Costa: Why not?
- 45:33Carmen Lezeth: But that's what I just said.
- 45:33Carmen Lezeth: I think it's hard because people enjoy misery and accidents and yuckiness more, and I don't know why.
- 45:42Carmen Lezeth: That's a natural thing that all humans do.
- 45:45Carmen Lezeth: If there's an accident on the street, everybody slows down.
- 45:48Carmen Lezeth: No one's jumping out to help or whatever, but everyone's oh my, what's happening.
- 45:53Carmen Lezeth: They'll stop and now what I think is worse stop and take pictures or video.
- 45:59Carmen Lezeth: Now I know I understand that a lot of those videos have helped clarify some issues, especially when it comes to bad things happening, and there's a weirdness that we are fascinated by negativity, and I told you this before.
- 46:13Carmen Lezeth: I get more views when I'm screaming and yelling at someone and this is for everyone, by the way.
- 46:19Carmen Lezeth: Every person is doing a podcast or doing a YouTube video, whatever.
- 46:22Carmen Lezeth: You get more views when there's all this conflict and anger and negativity.
- 46:26Carmen Lezeth: But it's really hard to get views if you're not doing either something niche and like I'm teaching you how to I was gonna say weed, but I don't know what that is or like doing something that's really Ohits is what I meant.
- 46:43Carmen Lezeth: There's so many youtube channels on how to knit and whatever.
- 46:45Carmen Lezeth: So you get followers if there's a niche.
- 46:48Carmen Lezeth: You get followers if there's tragedy or somebody's beating up somebody else or somebody's yelling at somebody else, but just having a channel that's about joy and fun.
- 46:59Carmen Lezeth: And I'm not just talking about this channel, talking about even there was a news show one time that was trying to just be like oh, this is only news about good stuff.
- 47:08Carmen Lezeth: The reason why we don't know it is because it's off the air.
- 47:11Carmen Lezeth: It got off the air like within a second.
- 47:14Rick Costa: I used to hear remember when we used to have newspapers.
- 47:16Rick Costa: They're probably still out there somewhere.
- 47:18Carmen Lezeth: When they used to put them on your front door.
- 47:20Rick Costa: Exactly somewhere, but put them on your front door.
- 47:21Rick Costa: Exactly.
- 47:22Rick Costa: And somebody would say we make a newspaper which us just all good news, cause I said cause it'll never survive.
- 47:31Carmen Lezeth: And I'm sure people have tried it and it hasn't.
- 47:32Carmen Lezeth: It didn't survive and that's why we don't have it.
- 47:34Carmen Lezeth: And I don't know what that's about.
- 47:34Carmen Lezeth: I don't think that's a flaw in who we are as humans, but there's got to be.
- 47:37Carmen Lezeth: I'm sure there's some sociological experiment or whatever that they've done to figure out why that is, cause it seems to be everyone.
- 47:45Carmen Lezeth: But I think all that negativity ends up being in our.
- 47:49Carmen Lezeth: We absorb it.
- 47:50Carmen Lezeth: This is just my theory.
- 47:51Carmen Lezeth: That's why I don't watch horror films.
- 47:54Carmen Lezeth: I don't like.
- 47:55Carmen Lezeth: I'm very careful what I digest and people I'm around like toxicity does not work for me because I think all of that we absorb it and then it makes it harder for us to find that little light of joy because it's all piled in with our own crap, with our own things that we're dealing with.
- 48:12Carmen Lezeth: I had a client the other day this week it was this week who said to me how come you don't know that?
- 48:18Carmen Lezeth: How come you don't know that I'm like because off the top of my head I don't care how much your mortgage is.
- 48:23Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean I'm like I will look it up for you and let you know, but I don't have that information Now.
- 48:30Carmen Lezeth: If you want to ask me what my payment is, I can tell you, because it's my payment.
- 48:35Carmen Lezeth: You know what?
- 48:35Rick Costa: I mean Like I'm going to walk around and have everybody's mortgage.
- 48:39Carmen Lezeth: That's my job to start with.
- 48:42Carmen Lezeth: It's not.
- 48:42Carmen Lezeth: But how am I going to know that?
- 48:44Rick Costa: My brain's always been that way where if I don't really need that information, it just discards it and I forget it.
- 48:49Rick Costa: I just don't need it.
- 48:51Rick Costa: Why am I going to cram all this stuff?
- 48:52Rick Costa: No for what.
- 48:53Rick Costa: I don't need to know that.
- 48:54Rick Costa: I already got enough issues with regular stuff.
- 48:56Rick Costa: I got to remember, let alone all and all this other stuff, Nah.
- 48:59Carmen Lezeth: And it's not necessary, you can look it up, because my question is if it's such an emergency, how come you don't motherfucking know your own mortgage that you pay everyone?
- 49:08Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean?
- 49:09Carmen Lezeth: It's just a weird thing, but that's also taking in like toxicity.
- 49:14Carmen Lezeth: Like I'm not going to get upset that he asked that and I told him I don't got it.
- 49:17Carmen Lezeth: I will get it to you in a couple of hours.
- 49:19Carmen Lezeth: But it's that weird thing where people just pile on and you're right, you got to just take it in and let it out, cause that also adds to the negativity of who we are.
- 49:31Carmen Lezeth: I'm just glad I've learned how to do that at a young age, cause I don't know what I'd be.
- 49:35Carmen Lezeth: I don't know what I would be like now if I hadn't been able to be the person I was growing up.
- 49:43Carmen Lezeth: I wish things were different, but not the growth I had because of it.
- 49:47Carmen Lezeth: Does that make sense?
- 49:49Rick Costa: Yeah, they always say we are a product of what we've been through.
- 49:52Rick Costa: That's true.
- 49:53Rick Costa: It molds us and makes us who we are today.
- 49:56Rick Costa: If things were different, we'd be a different person, literally.
- 50:00Carmen Lezeth: Okay, going back to our moms and stuff, I was thinking about this not to bring it down, but it's actually.
- 50:05Carmen Lezeth: I was trying to find a way to move through it.
- 50:07Carmen Lezeth: It's when I asked you about the birthday thing, when I was freaking out, I thought about this.
- 50:11Carmen Lezeth: I'm like I wonder what I would be like if my mother had lived.
- 50:14Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 50:17Carmen Lezeth: And I don't think I'd be a better person.
- 50:19Carmen Lezeth: I don't think I'd be a better person.
- 50:19Carmen Lezeth: I don't think I'd be a worse person, but the story would be different.
- 50:23Carmen Lezeth: That's what I think.
- 50:24Rick Costa: Or another monkey wrench.
- 50:28Carmen Lezeth: What if your dad was in the picture?
- 50:29Carmen Lezeth: I don't think I'd be a better person.
- 50:31Carmen Lezeth: I think if, after my mom died and after a few years of getting back on track, I found out who my father was, that might've been a more horrible thing, cause I don't think I could have ever dealt with that very well.
- 50:45Carmen Lezeth: I wasn't mature enough.
- 50:46Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 50:47Carmen Lezeth: I don't think I still am, actually to tell you the truth, but I still think, or I would hope to think, I'd still be the same person, but you don't know.
- 50:56Rick Costa: Yeah, the core of you is you are who you are.
- 50:59Carmen Lezeth: Environment changes things yeah.
- 51:03Rick Costa: They say by the age of three.
- 51:04Carmen Lezeth: Your personality's set already by age at least three so if you're a bitch today, you've been a bitch since you were three, okay exactly I don't know, I know nothing of these things.
- 51:16Carmen Lezeth: I and I wonder is that really true?
- 51:19Carmen Lezeth: Who's they like scientists?
- 51:20Rick Costa: I've heard many people.
- 51:21Rick Costa: Is that really true?
- 51:22Rick Costa: Who's they Like scientists?
- 51:22Carmen Lezeth: I've heard many people say that Really yeah, but can you change?
- 51:26Rick Costa: Would an environment have a lot to do with that If you consciously try to, yeah, and that's why I've always said all right parenting, if you just let everything go, everything go, let them do whatever they want, just go crazy.
- 51:38Rick Costa: And then when they're a little bit older, then you said, oh, now I'm going to start to discipline, it's too late.
- 51:43Rick Costa: You got to start from the beginning.
- 51:45Rick Costa: Yeah, but they're just babies.
- 51:47Rick Costa: I ain't saying to kill the child, but you got to show them I'm the boss and you are the child.
- 51:53Carmen Lezeth: That's because a lot of parents today I've been saying this for a long time they want to be friends, because whatever trauma they went through with their parents, they want to change it somehow.
- 52:03Carmen Lezeth: And it's from a good place, it's not from a bad place.
- 52:05Carmen Lezeth: But people need structure.
- 52:08Carmen Lezeth: I know people hate to say that no, no, I'm freestyling.
- 52:11Carmen Lezeth: But when you were growing up you needed some structure to make wiser decisions.
- 52:17Carmen Lezeth: You can see animals in the wild don't do that either.
- 52:20Carmen Lezeth: There is structure A baby elephant and a mama elephant.
- 52:23Rick Costa: There's a gospel singer, vicki Winans, pretty famous in the gospel world, and she said all these parents make me sick.
- 52:29Rick Costa: I'm just going to talk to them.
- 52:31Rick Costa: I'm just going to talk to them.
- 52:32Rick Costa: She goes yeah, you're going to be talking to them through a jail cell, but you're going to be doing it.
- 52:38Carmen Lezeth: Is that what she said?
- 52:39Carmen Lezeth: It's the linens, right, they are.
- 52:40Carmen Lezeth: That's true, though, but you'll get.
- 52:42Carmen Lezeth: I'm not questioning parenting because I don't want to hear anyone tell me you're not a parent, so you don't know.
- 52:47Carmen Lezeth: You know what.
- 52:48Carmen Lezeth: Here's the thing I am not a parent, so I do know, because I can be objective, because I was a kid once, and I still remember what it's like to be a kid, and I keep telling some who are parents I think a protective gene comes out that needs to come out when you become a parent and you forget what it's like to be 10 and you forget what it's like to be five.
- 53:08Carmen Lezeth: I don't have that protective thing.
- 53:10Carmen Lezeth: I don't.
- 53:11Rick Costa: Because I remember before I had a kid and I'm like I'm so empathetic, I could understand, blah, blah, blah, I get it, I get it, I get it.
- 53:19Rick Costa: Then, when you have the kid and everybody always tells you before, you don't get until you have a kid, no, I understand, I could get it, I get it.
- 53:26Rick Costa: Nah, you really don't.
- 53:27Rick Costa: When you have the kid, it changes.
- 53:29Rick Costa: Then you really do.
- 53:30Rick Costa: They're right.
- 53:31Rick Costa: Then you will understand it's just something changes.
- 53:33Carmen Lezeth: Well, I'm not trying to say I understand from the point of view of a parent.
- 53:37Carmen Lezeth: I would never claim that.
- 53:38Carmen Lezeth: But when I look at parenting, I can tell which person sucks as a parent and which one, and let me tell you, I always bring this up too.
- 53:46Carmen Lezeth: It's also with pet parents, people who have dogs.
- 53:50Carmen Lezeth: I have this thing.
- 53:51Carmen Lezeth: It's the same thing.
- 53:54Carmen Lezeth: I can tell who sucks as a parent and who does not.
- 53:57Carmen Lezeth: Easily I can see it as clear as day from the point of view of a non-parent.
- 54:02Carmen Lezeth: I was just talking to my friend Cindy about this.
- 54:03Carmen Lezeth: We went on a walk on Saturday and she's actually a veterinarian and we were talking about this and she's no, you're not wrong, and she has tons of pets.
- 54:10Carmen Lezeth: And it's this weird thing where people are not, they're more worried about how they're handling or coping or dealing with whatever issue they're dealing with and generally taking it out on the kid.
- 54:23Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 54:24Carmen Lezeth: Like the overreaction to parents from kids doing certain things is and pets doing certain is ridiculous, and then the lack of acknowledgement of what some kids are doing is the other side of the coin.
- 54:38Carmen Lezeth: I'm like what is wrong with you?
- 54:40Carmen Lezeth: It's like what Ms Winan said right, Wait, your kid just said F you to you and you ain't going.
- 54:44Carmen Lezeth: That's the worst thing when I see kids at their parents.
- 54:47Carmen Lezeth: See how mad I get just saying that Not today I'm just saying a five-year-old is not going to disrespect me or a parent.
- 54:57Carmen Lezeth: A 10-year-old is not going to be disrespectful to their parent.
- 55:01Carmen Lezeth: A 15-year-old is not going to be disrespectful to their parent.
- 55:04Carmen Lezeth: I can go on and on, but when a parent sits there and takes it, okay.
- 55:11Rick Costa: I don't even get that.
- 55:13Carmen Lezeth: I don't even get that Because they remember what it was like.
- 55:15Carmen Lezeth: Okay.
- 55:15Carmen Lezeth: So this is my perspective when you're a little kid growing up the way I did growing up, and I was safe from this, but I watched it.
- 55:23Carmen Lezeth: I was safe from it because my mother wasn't around right, which is not a good thing, but you would see kids try to talk back or try to whatever and I'm not an advocate for this but they would either be beaten with a belt right, which I am not an advocate of that.
- 55:40Carmen Lezeth: I was never hit as a kid or punished to the nth degree like a month, and you cannot see your friends or like it would be.
- 55:47Carmen Lezeth: There would be no.
- 55:48Carmen Lezeth: Let's have a conversation about what just happened.
- 55:51Carmen Lezeth: When you spoke to me in that tone, when you swore at me, how did that make you feel, little billy?
- 55:59Carmen Lezeth: Let me tell you how it made me feel like, okay, mom, I'm gonna just do it again tomorrow yeah, we're just gonna have a conversation about it when I first heard the concept of time out, I was like what the heck is that?
- 56:12Rick Costa: some white people thing?
- 56:13Rick Costa: What is that time out?
- 56:15Rick Costa: What is that?
- 56:16Rick Costa: No, I'm serious, because my father you just look at him, weird that's a problem.
- 56:22Rick Costa: Bam, you got him swacked.
- 56:23Rick Costa: Ooh, yeah, yeah.
- 56:26Carmen Lezeth: I think in my neighborhood there was people who got hit a lot and, anyways, I think I was traumatized by knowing so many people who did get hit.
- 56:34Carmen Lezeth: Any last words before we end for the week?
- 56:37Carmen Lezeth: Wait, let me just tell you.
- 56:39Carmen Lezeth: I now announce that I'm going to go where, we're going to close up and we get more followers.
- 56:45Carmen Lezeth: People like to wait.
- 56:47Carmen Lezeth: Maybe it's because they like to wait an hour or something, or they just come home or something.
- 56:52Rick Costa: I don't know what the deal is.
- 56:53Rick Costa: As long as they don't forget to like, share and subscribe.
- 56:58Carmen Lezeth: Excuse me, it's so sneaky.
- 57:01Carmen Lezeth: I love it.
- 57:06Rick Costa: I love it, wait did you get the hat yet don't say what the hat is I'm talking about no, it says friday.
- 57:09Carmen Lezeth: Wow, that's pretty bad too.
- 57:10Carmen Lezeth: It takes a long time yeah, I wonder why.
- 57:12Carmen Lezeth: I don't know it's okay, we'll figure it out, but I'm hoping by july stay tuned to find out what that means stay tuned figure out what we're talking about.
- 57:21Carmen Lezeth: Okay, everyone, thank you so much.
- 57:22Carmen Lezeth: It was so lovely to have you all here today.

- 57:26Carmen Lezeth: I'm going to text you in a minute to make sure you're okay.
- 57:28Carmen Lezeth: I'm such a good friend.
- 57:30Carmen Lezeth: He could be like on the ground sidewalk and waiting.
- 57:34Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean, melanie.
- 57:36Carmen Lezeth: I'm now trying to say goodbye to all of our compagnie.
- 57:40Rick Costa: That's a song.
- 57:41Rick Costa: Is that a song?
- 57:41Rick Costa: It sounds like a song, I don't know she's so sweet.
- 57:43Rick Costa: I can't think of what it is.
- 57:45Carmen Lezeth: Because we're not good enough, we don't know.
- 57:48Carmen Lezeth: But yes, I'm going to say goodbye.
- 57:50Carmen Lezeth: Thank you everyone.
- 57:51Carmen Lezeth: Remember to like, share and subscribe or hate us.
