Transcript
- 0:00Speaker: I continue to learn each day having a conversation here talking about different personal development stuff that you can hopefully use in your career or in your life, was stretching this morning and doing some, doing my workout here, and I listened to ,meditation practices with Deepak Chopra. And today was talking about, creating personal abundance I definitely think it gave me a few minutes where I wasn't thinking about a thousand things. And even when my mind started to wander a little bit, he talks about a mantra to use and reminds you to use the mantra when you start to not focus on either breathing or sitting straight or doing that meditation itself.
- 0:01But it has worked. This is something you could do even in your, your vehicle. , in a parking lot or in your driveway. Because there's so many things going through our minds all the time all over the place thinking about a thousand things and just stepping back and taking a breather thinking a little bit differently on what's going on and maybe you can it'll give you an opportunity to look at the bigger picture of what's going on because that's the big thing i think practicing meditation or finding ways to create personal abundance like this really help with the, you know, that practicing gratitude.
- 0:02I think that's so key in our day to day life, being grateful and reflecting on all the things that we should be grateful for. To think about the stuff that we're grateful like you guys do one of the Highest skilled trades out there commercial refrigeration and commercial hvac Like there's not many other trades that have to deal with the complexities that we do, the knowledge that we need to have.
- 0:03And for wherever you're at in your career, you should be super grateful that you're on this path and that you, you've learned what you know so far, , through putting the work in. So practicing gratitude is something that we don't do enough.
- 0:04But the more you see something, The more you think about something, the more you will practice it and probably work with it in, work it in your life. What you think about is what you become. A lot of people said, even Marcus Aurelius said this back in the Roman times.
- 0:05Earl Nightingale back in the 40s and 50s. Bob Proctor. What you think about all day long is what you become.
- 0:06So if you're thinking about great thoughts and things that you want to happen in your life, things like that, it's going to start to happen. But if you're thinking about all the negative things or things that really aren't getting you to where you want to be, those things are going to start happening in your life too, because what you think about is what you become.
- 0:07When I first heard that a few years ago, I started thinking about that. And I look back, reflect back on, on some of the things I did in my life, and I'm like, holy smokes, I remember during that time, that's kind of what I was thinking about all the time. And when I look back, I was like, man, yeah, that stuff happened.
- 0:08Like that was what was going on. And I don't mean just one thought of something and that's not what they mean is what do you think about all the time? Something that's deep in your consciousness maybe and it only comes up once in a while that those things that you're consistently thinking about that's what you become and i've seen it time and time again and ask people about this and it's something that Happens because that's what you're focused on.
- 0:09So if you're focused on really positive things, things that are going to help you, things from that nature is going to help. it is crazy to think that the things you think about you become, but then you think about it, it's like, no, it's not so crazy. It makes sense. Is that your focus?
- 0:10Focus on that even if you're not doing that task at the time you're thinking about thinking about so I see this a lot In students that come into the course they tell me like, you know, I had a great week You know, but I had this one job that was that didn't go well and they think about that all week It throws their whole week off.
- 0:11It makes more mistakes makes issues in other jobs Then they're looking for validation and they're making more phone calls even though they know how to fix the stuff But thinking about that one issue that you had oh I didn't I didn't check this or I left this off, throws off the rest of the week or even a couple of weeks because of that one issue mistakes happen in our, our job, as long as it's not, , you know, a safety issue for yourself.
- 0:12But like, if you break something, you misdiagnose something, this stuff happens. But what you want to do is learn from that. And when you learn from that, you grow from that. Then if you can think, okay, well, this is what happened. Okay. This is how I rectify it. Okay. Think about, Oh man, I did fix it.
- 0:13Or someone went back there and fix it. Be like, Oh, grateful that somebody on my team has the knowledge that I didn't have that point to go fix it. And now they shared that with me instead of once again, thinking about, Oh man, this is, this is terrible. I forgot the disconnect off on that, that rooftop unit and people were warm in there and I had to drive back and threw off my other job and then the whole week went by.
- 0:14Was shot because you thought about that. And these are something that I just want you to think about. How can you really think a little bit differently? Think about the things that you want, because this is how abundance works. You want to have a, , that positive mindset. You want to have an open mindset and you want to have a growth mindset to get you to where you want.
- 0:15Good things take a while to get. It doesn't happen overnight. We want everything to happen on six months in one year and two years and three years. What's wrong with taking five to 10 years to get something and you work really hard for it and you accomplish it. You need those short term or smaller goals and medium term goals and those long term goals.
- 0:16So you're continually building on what you're working towards. And when you have those set, clear goals, personal abundance comes to you a lot faster than you just drifting all over the place. I think more and more Investing in relationships will help you with personal abundance maybe the people that you look up to or the the people that you want to be able to Be like like if there are people out there that you want to be better at like a troubleshooting for me, it was public speaking and talking in front of people.
- 0:17The last, this last section of my career, my life is that I need to get better in front of people, talking, networking, selling, , my brand, , and promoting my brand marketing. So that that's where I am. And that's That's what I'm trying to do, investing in relationships where I can bring value to those people in, in that way
- 0:18and this is where you invest in those relationships. Who, with people who are doing that, like people who you can see is that man, they're a great leader. I can see the way they talk to the team, let me invest some time with them to learn from them. Buy them lunch, take them out to lunch, ask them good questions, be curious.
- 0:19And I think that that right there, some of those tips, if you start doing that, that is going to be different. Some of you have been here day in, day out. You can be listening on the podcast.
- 0:20You can be driving in your vehicle while you're listening, but are you doing anything about it? And that's only up to you that abundance is out there and if you want whatever the abundance is to you if you work you put a plan into place And you work at it really hard
- 0:21continuous learning. I think that's the biggest one. If you are curious. About the things that you're doing. And you always want to continue to learn, things are going to happen for you, putting yourself out there and showing up all the time for yourself, not even for someone showing up for yourself. You got a job to do to go to the job site.
- 0:22You're not showing up for, for your boss or the customer. You should, you should be showing up for yourself. Getting there, being like, I'm going to do this. I'm here before I'm even supposed to be here. I'm staying here afterwards, bringing that value. You want to be the hardest worker in the room. Always, always the hardest worker and never the smartest, hardest worker in the room.
- 0:23You want to have the smartest people around you so you can always learn from them. If you're the smartest person in the room, as many people said this, you're not in the right room. Andrew Carnegie, one of the biggest Steel tycoons in history.
- 0:24Probably it was the richest person on the planet at one point, 1900. He sold his company for like 400 million, but he said he was always surrounded and mastermind groups with people that were smarter than him. And he can learn way faster and he could grow his business and grow his companies way faster to have the smarter people around him.
- 0:25And that's no different than you. You should be trying to find out people who have. Or know the things you want to know and spend time with them. It's not hard. Can take someone out to lunch, out to dinner. Find out what they like, invite them to a hockey game or a ball game or a football game, and you pay for it.
- 0:26That's how you build a relationship. Then you ask them questions. Be curious. This is how you grow.
- 0:27And it, there's many different ways. These are just some examples.
- 0:28You know, for abundance, you got to figure out your finances. You can make a ton of money doing refrigeration with on call job Selling equipment, i've been teaching technicians now I'm doing courses on how to make more money.
- 0:29How do you make more money? You bring more value to your organization. You bring more money into the organization you sell more projects or efficiency, uh things to the customers And you become the number one salesperson at your company
- 0:30that abundance happening because this is what companies want to pay for is people who have great ideas who can implement them and who bring value to the organization who bring more money into the company. You cannot make more money, , by just doing the same thing over and over again. Like working your service job, you can't make more money.
- 0:31They only can pay you what that, that company pays you. So if you're doing a service job and it takes six hours, that company only going to pay you for the six hours of work. Plus, you know, the company may make a percentage on maybe the equipment you have to dissolve valve plate or a contactor, but that's, that's part of your job.
- 0:32What are you doing over and above to grow that business? And I know I talked to tons of them, uh, tons of owners managers. They're looking for people just like you to help grow their business. And you come up with a plan and you do it. And I'm teaching people who are starting to implement this.
- 0:33And they're like, man, some of this stuff is working. Uh, And it's, it's not me, but you guys are out there doing it. You're going to implement us taking that action. Is it hard? It's definitely hard for some people. Is it easy? It's definitely easy for some people. How do you want to think about it? Do you want to think about it's hard?
- 0:34Or do you want to think about it's easy? Or you want to think about I can do this and keep at it. And then depending on what you think about, maybe the things that will help you change to where you want to be in your career, in your life. Stay positive, stay resilient. This stuff will help you towards that abundance. , whatever that abundance is for you.
- 0:35Abundance could be just, you know, getting to spend some time with the family each week. , getting a vacation, uh, a year. Uh, going to watch your kid's sports game. Uh, going out fishing. Could be whatever. But stay positive, stay, stay resilient, have a passion for what you do. And really have a purpose.
