- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, so I saw on Instagram a director casting
- 0:05Speaker 1: a producer. He's looking for local actors for something he's filming.
- 0:10Speaker 1: And I had a couple of people send it to me.
- 0:12Speaker 1: So I shot him a DM. I was like, hey,
- 0:13Speaker 1: jump on the radio show. We'll help find you some people.
- 0:15Speaker 1: But then I went into his IMDB. So I want
- 0:19Speaker 1: to talk to him. Austin, are you there?
- 0:20Speaker 2: I am.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Hi. Good morning. You're on the air.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Oh, great.
- 0:25Speaker 4: It's good to be here.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Are you from here?
- 0:28Speaker 4: I am. I'm originally from Gilbert, Arizona. I went to
- 0:31Speaker 4: Mesquite High.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Right on. Wildcats.
- 0:34Speaker 4: I started performing all over the valley. I started at
- 0:37Speaker 4: Valley Youth here over in Phoenix.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Oh, you did with Bob?
- 0:41Speaker 4: Yeah, Bob Cooper.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:42Speaker 1: The Coop. Bob's great. Boy, a lot of people come
- 0:45Speaker 1: out of there, right? Emma Stone.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Jordan Sparks.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. So many people.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:50Speaker 4: A lot of people come out of there.
- 0:52Speaker 1: That's so cool that you went there. Okay, good. So
- 0:53Speaker 1: now just backing up that you are legit. So I
- 0:56Speaker 1: want to ask you about Scarpetta, but I also want
- 0:59Speaker 1: to get to what your casting call is. So let's
- 1:00Speaker 1: get into your casting call real quick. What are you
- 1:02Speaker 1: looking for?
- 1:02Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:02Speaker 1: And what are you filming?
- 1:04Speaker 4: So I am the executive producer of a movie called
- 1:08Speaker 4: Sales Tax that we are filming in late spring, early summer.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Next year, 2027, in the Valley, specifically in Maricopa County,
- 1:18Speaker 4: most of our locations, we're still locking down. But what
- 1:21Speaker 4: we're really looking for right now, not just cast, because
- 1:25Speaker 4: I did put out that sort of casting call on Instagram.
- 1:28Speaker 4: We're also looking for, so anybody that would be interested in,
- 1:31Speaker 4: you know, being in a movie that's all local to Arizona,
- 1:33Speaker 4: because we're filming the whole thing in Arizona. Yeah. somewhat
- 1:38Speaker 4: of a love letter to Arizona in some, some ways,
- 1:40Speaker 4: but also we're looking for qualified production crew as well.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Also anybody who has potential investor resources or anybody that
- 1:53Speaker 4: has any resources, like, like for instance, one of our locations,
- 1:56Speaker 4: a giant mansion that takes place in like Paradise Valley,
- 1:59Speaker 4: you know, a couple of restaurants. Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 2: We want, we want access to that too. Before the movie,
- 2:04Speaker 2: we want access to the mansion.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Yeah. Oh, yeah, come on by, come on by. Grab
- 2:09Speaker 4: some catering.
- 2:09Speaker 1: All right, so all these things you're looking for, and
- 2:12Speaker 1: what else?
- 2:12Speaker 4: Yeah, so crew, we're looking for... We have a car,
- 2:18Speaker 4: a picture car that's a Volkswagen Bug that we haven't
- 2:21Speaker 4: found yet. The whole movie takes place in sort of
- 2:24Speaker 4: the late 90s. It's a true story about my fellow
- 2:27Speaker 4: executive producer's father, who was a jewelry salesman across the valley.
- 2:32Speaker 4: He was a commercial jewelry salesman, but this one, we're
- 2:35Speaker 4: trying to find spaces that have that very... Um, Sonoran
- 2:40Speaker 4: Southwestern iconic Arizona energy to it.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Okay. So where can people get ahold of you? How
- 2:47Speaker 1: do they, how do they say, Hey, I have the bug. Hey,
- 2:49Speaker 1: I have the mansion. I have the whatever.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Yes. So if you want to be a part of
- 2:54Speaker 4: the cast, if you want to be a part of
- 2:55Speaker 4: the crew, if you have any resources to, uh, investors,
- 2:58Speaker 4: anybody who's invested in art, uh, in Arizona, again, it's
- 3:01Speaker 4: the love letter to Arizona. So the preservation of it
- 3:04Speaker 4: on film, um, resources like the ones I named, you
- 3:08Speaker 4: can reach me on Instagram, uh, at Austin T McMains.
- 3:13Speaker 4: That's a U S T I N T M C
- 3:15Speaker 4: M A I N S. And also my executive producer.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Tim Oaks at Tiz Timothy. If you just give us
- 3:23Speaker 4: a follow and then DM me directly and just say,
- 3:29Speaker 4: just tell me about you and what resource you have
- 3:30Speaker 4: to offer. If that's, you want to be a part
- 3:33Speaker 4: of cast, you want to be a part of the crew.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Do you have any of these resources that I'm willing to?
- 3:39Speaker 1: Can you send us a couple of like a scripts?
- 3:42Speaker 1: Can we audition all of us here on the show?
- 3:43Speaker 1: Is there a murder? Is there a serial killer? Is
- 3:45Speaker 1: there a serial killer in this movie? You'd be perfect
- 3:47Speaker 1: for that. I would like to audition for the role
- 3:49Speaker 1: of serial killer.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Actually, I wrote it with you in mind.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Then I'd like to be a Chicago cop who's done
- 3:55Speaker 2: in his luck. I want to do the interview. I
- 3:57Speaker 2: want to interview the perks.
- 3:58Speaker 4: You actually have that too.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Okay, great. So how would you do that? The Chicago cop? Yeah.
- 4:03Speaker 2: I get a perp like, yo, down here in the office.
- 4:05Speaker 2: I call my wife. I say, what's for dinner? Because
- 4:07Speaker 2: this canary is going to chirp.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I love it.
- 4:09Speaker 4: I love it.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I love it.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Hey, you're cast, all right? So guys, that role is
- 4:13Speaker 4: not casting anymore. We got that covered.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you should come in here. Come in the studio
- 4:18Speaker 1: and let us audition. I think it would be fun.
- 4:20Speaker 4: That would be awesome.
- 4:21Speaker 1: What about Kyle? Kyle could be the cool mom. That'd
- 4:24Speaker 1: be kind of fun.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Yeah. Okay.
- 4:32Speaker 1: So when I went to your Instagram, after I saw
- 4:35Speaker 1: the video, it says that you were in the TV show, Scarpetta,
- 4:38Speaker 1: which I watched every episode starring Nicole Kidman.
- 4:42Speaker 4: Yes, that is true.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Who did you play in Scarpetta?
- 4:46Speaker 4: I play the character of August Ryan. So if you
- 4:49Speaker 4: haven't seen scripted, it takes place over the course of
- 4:51Speaker 4: two timelines. So it's 2026. And then another timeline is 1998.
- 4:56Speaker 4: And so, you know, Nicole Kidman, Jamie Lee Curtis, Bobby
- 5:00Speaker 4: kind of like they're all in that 2026 timeline. And
- 5:04Speaker 4: then we follow a completely different timeline at the same time.
- 5:09Speaker 4: That's 1998. I play the younger version of one of
- 5:11Speaker 4: the primary characters in the 2026 timeline. So they cast
- 5:15Speaker 4: like a young Nicole Kidman, a young Jamie Lee Curtis,
- 5:18Speaker 4: and a young... I play young David Hornsby. You might
- 5:21Speaker 4: know him from like Mythic Quest or It's Always Sunny
- 5:23Speaker 4: in Philadelphia. He was cricket in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Wait a minute. I watched that whole... Every single person
- 5:31Speaker 1: you just mentioned, Bobby Cannavale, the Simon guy, the guy
- 5:35Speaker 1: that now Nicole Kidman is I think dating in real life.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I think they met on the set or they... Um,
- 5:39Speaker 1: I cannot place the character that you are. Are you,
- 5:43Speaker 1: wait a minute. Are you the guy? Do you know
- 5:44Speaker 1: what I'm talking about?
- 5:46Speaker 4: I'm the guy.
- 5:47Speaker 1: No way. You're the guy. Wow. It is an honor
- 5:52Speaker 1: to speak to you, Austin. Wow. You're the guy. Okay.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Wait, what's the guy?
- 5:58Speaker 1: I don't want to ruin it. I don't want to
- 6:00Speaker 1: ruin it.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Is he this guy?
- 6:02Speaker 4: You gotta watch this show. You gotta watch the show.
- 6:05Speaker 1: No, no, no, no. He's the he is the guy. No,
- 6:08Speaker 1: look at me.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Look at me.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Look at me. He's. Oh, he's the guy. The guy.
- 6:13Speaker 4: The guy. What I can say about my character is
- 6:16Speaker 4: I am sort of this rookie cop. He's got iconic
- 6:19Speaker 4: like braces in his mouth. Yeah. He's definitely not.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Wow.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Is that weird, though? Because the guy that plays you
- 6:27Speaker 1: as an adult is pretty damn ugly.
- 6:31Speaker 4: The question we did have is why he has braces still.
- 6:37Speaker 2: It's a really slow movie.
- 6:43Speaker 1: And I think they cleared a season two, right? Well,
- 6:46Speaker 1: you won't be on.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Hey, did you meet Nicole Kidman? Was she cool?
- 6:54Speaker 4: So because they filmed the two different timelines, I actually
- 6:56Speaker 4: never got to run into her because we'd be on
- 6:58Speaker 4: set at the different times. But she produced it, so
- 7:02Speaker 4: I'm sure she's seen my footage. I would assume that
- 7:04Speaker 4: she has. But I got to work with, like, young
- 7:06Speaker 4: Nicole Kidman, young Bobby, you know.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Like all of them. Well, the young Bobby, I think,
- 7:10Speaker 1: was Bobby's son in real life, right?
- 7:12Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, it's so crazy. Yeah, he's a good friend now,
- 7:16Speaker 4: Jake Convo. Yeah, he's an amazing actor, and he's– Yeah.
- 7:22Speaker 4: He's like one of my favorite parts of watching it back.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Him and Rosie McEwen, who plays the young Nicole Kidman.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Well, it was a good show. It was a really
- 7:29Speaker 1: good show. I was very much into that show. Yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 1: The ending actually pissed me off because it's a cliffhanger.
- 7:34Speaker 1: It's a cliffhanger. Oh, so there has to be a
- 7:35Speaker 1: season two. Yeah, yeah. There is a season two. All right, dude. Hey,
- 7:39Speaker 1: so Austin, thanks for jumping on there with us. So again,
- 7:41Speaker 1: just real quick, let's give out your Instagram. If you
- 7:43Speaker 1: want to be an actor or you can participate in
- 7:45Speaker 1: the cast or producing or find a location, what's your Instagram?
- 7:51Speaker 4: Yes, it's Austin T. McMain. So that's A-U-S-T-I-N-T-M-C-M-A-I-N-S.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Okay. Thank you, Austin. Thanks, brother. And if you think
- 8:02Speaker 1: of any roles, why don't you write a scene in
- 8:05Speaker 1: there that happens where... The jeweler brings some jewelry to be–
- 8:09Speaker 1: brings it in here to talk to us and we help.
- 8:11Speaker 4: That would be so iconic, guys. I think we might
- 8:14Speaker 4: have to go back to the drawing board for that.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I love it.
- 8:17Speaker 2: That's really cool that you're doing an Arizona movie, a
- 8:20Speaker 2: love letter to Arizona, and you're doing it here too,
- 8:23Speaker 2: not shooting it in Georgia.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I think that's really cool.
- 8:27Speaker 4: Yeah, we had to, you know, you know, it's, it's, we've,
- 8:29Speaker 4: we found an iconic jewelry store that I can't really
- 8:32Speaker 4: name drop yet because we haven't like officiated anything, but
- 8:35Speaker 4: a lot of it takes place in this beautiful jewelry
- 8:38Speaker 4: store in, uh, in Scottsdale that we have in mind.
- 8:40Speaker 4: So it's going to be a beautiful movie. It's going
- 8:42Speaker 4: to showcase Arizona on the right light. And, uh, I'm
- 8:45Speaker 4: excited for everyone to be involved.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Let me know if you need help. I got a
- 8:47Speaker 1: friend of mine who owns a jewelry store up there too.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Maybe I can help you out with that.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Oh, really?
- 8:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:50Speaker 4: I'll have to, I'll have to message you about it.
- 8:52Speaker 1: All right, brother. Take care, man. Thank you, Austin. Jessica.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Good morning. What's up? You're on the air.
- 8:58Speaker 5: Hi, good morning. I was calling about a funny rich story.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Okay.
- 9:04Speaker 3: So a couple weeks ago, I actually called your show.
- 9:07Speaker 5: And I told you the same story, John Jay, but
- 9:10Speaker 5: you put me on hold, and then by the time
- 9:14Speaker 5: you came back, it had disconnected.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Sorry.
- 9:19Speaker 5: No, that's okay.
- 9:20Speaker 3: I know that you guys have a lot.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Of problems with your phones.
- 9:22Speaker 1: We do indeed.
- 9:23Speaker 5: What was the rich story?
- 9:28Speaker 3: So a while back you guys had did an episode
- 9:32Speaker 3: where somebody was talking about that they saw.
- 9:36Speaker 5: Um rich at the gym and then somebody from your
- 9:40Speaker 5: show i think they were asking about like oh okay
- 9:44Speaker 5: well when you saw him at the gym what like
- 9:47Speaker 5: exercise equipment was he using does it sound familiar.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Rich at the gym does not sound familiar.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Well, I think one of them was Peyton's friends, and
- 9:58Speaker 2: she said that she just saw me walking around talking
- 10:00Speaker 2: to people, which does happen a lot.
- 10:03Speaker 1: So what is your story?
- 10:06Speaker 3: What I had called about was like, yeah, instead of
- 10:10Speaker 3: him going or instead of him actually using gym equipment,
- 10:13Speaker 3: he was just walking around talking to everybody.
- 10:16Speaker 5: And that just reminded me, you know, those progressive commercials
- 10:21Speaker 5: where they say that you turn into your parents, like
- 10:24Speaker 5: this is a sign that you're turning into your parents.
- 10:27Speaker 5: I feel like that is totally the typical scenario where
- 10:32Speaker 5: you're just going around talking to everybody at the gym,
- 10:34Speaker 5: but everyone's like, busy doing stuff and he's just going
- 10:39Speaker 5: around chatting it up with.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Everybody there's one of those commercials that my wife pointed
- 10:43Speaker 2: out she's like that's you and it's when the guy's
- 10:46Speaker 2: in the back of an uber and he's chatting up
- 10:48Speaker 2: the uber driver and becoming friends with the uber driver
- 10:51Speaker 2: he's like you're.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Doing a great job that is totally no you were
- 10:54Speaker 1: really good at that you know the other day when
- 10:56Speaker 1: we were in we were in reading and the owner
- 10:58Speaker 1: of the radio station picked us up and i always
- 10:59Speaker 1: sit in the back seat and rich is in the
- 11:02Speaker 1: front seat And Rich is just talking away. And I'm
- 11:04Speaker 1: just sitting back there. I'm like, thank God that he's here.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Thank God. I'm just sitting back there. I have nothing
- 11:10Speaker 1: to say. I make friends on the plane. I'm talking
- 11:12Speaker 1: the whole way there. I make friends on the plane
- 11:14Speaker 1: on the way there, on the way back.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Yeah, Rich, you are such a good Uber chatter that
- 11:19Speaker 2: you like get the same Uber driver on your way
- 11:21Speaker 2: back home. Like you get their number and you don't
- 11:23Speaker 2: even go.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Through the app.
- 11:24Speaker 1: That's right. You just text them personal. Want to hang out?
- 11:27Speaker 1: Want to hit up a taco shop?
- 11:28Speaker 2: Ask them to pick you up in 30 minutes around
- 11:30Speaker 2: the corner.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Jessica, thanks for calling in. All right.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Thank you. Bye.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Have a great day.
