Latest / Inside the Charge / Inside The Charge: Mitch Morse Talks Legend Of The Game, Josh Allen, And More!
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome into this week's episode of Inside the Charge. I'm
- 0:02Speaker 1: Maddi Glab. This week we are joined by Bill's Legend.
- 0:05Speaker 1: It's so weird to say that title in front of
- 0:07Speaker 1: his name, Bill's Legend. Mitch Morse played with the Bills
- 0:11Speaker 1: from twenty nineteen to twenty twenty three as their center.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Mitch was back in Buffalo as the Legend of the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Game for the Saints game, so he discusses what it
- 0:19Speaker 1: was like coming back to lead the Charge, the idea
- 0:22Speaker 1: behind chugging a beer on the field to get the
- 0:25Speaker 1: crowd riled up right before kick. Mitch also discusses getting
- 0:29Speaker 1: to tailgate with Bill's Mafia for the first time ever.
- 0:32Speaker 1: He said he had a blast. Mitch also shares what
- 0:35Speaker 1: it's like to watch quarterback Josh Allen as a fan
- 0:39Speaker 1: instead of playing next to him on the field. Mitch says,
- 0:42Speaker 1: you get to see the superman capabilities a lot more
- 0:46Speaker 1: from a fan perspective. Mitch also discusses what it's been
- 0:49Speaker 1: like to move over to the media world. He has
- 0:52Speaker 1: his own podcasts and is really loving getting to talk
- 0:55Speaker 1: to people and talk football after spending so much time
- 0:59Speaker 1: in this league.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Enjoyed the episode.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Mitch, it looks like you had a blast in Buffalo.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Did you make it home in one piece? How are
- 1:15Speaker 1: we doing in the aftermath of having the time of
- 1:18Speaker 1: your life here?
- 1:19Speaker 3: Yeah? Well, I think they buried part of my soul
- 1:22Speaker 3: somewhere in the hammer lot or in Allen Street. We
- 1:25Speaker 3: made it yesterday and I said it an alarm to
- 1:28Speaker 3: take a thirty minute nap, and then I woke up
- 1:30Speaker 3: three and a half hours later and it was past
- 1:32Speaker 3: dinner time. And it was such a unique experience. And
- 1:36Speaker 3: I'm still you can tell suffering a little bit from it.
- 1:39Speaker 3: But if I could do it all over again, I
- 1:41Speaker 3: would do the exact same thing in the exact same way.
- 1:44Speaker 1: It's somebody like you that comes back to a Bills game,
- 1:47Speaker 1: and I think people just live vicariously through you and
- 1:50Speaker 1: they are so happy to see that, like you just
- 1:52Speaker 1: had such a great time. I don't know for former players,
- 1:55Speaker 1: especially former players who you know, just retired from the
- 1:58Speaker 1: game of football, to be to enjoy it in the
- 2:01Speaker 1: way that you did. I think is you know, twelve
- 2:04Speaker 1: out of ten, Mitch. I'm really happy for you. But
- 2:07Speaker 1: let's cover just going back to your first game as
- 2:11Speaker 1: a Bills fan, not as a player.
- 2:12Speaker 2: How weird was that?
- 2:15Speaker 3: I thought it would be a little bit stranger than
- 2:17Speaker 3: it actually was. It was. It was fun. I was
- 2:21Speaker 3: lit up, so anything would have been fun at that point.
- 2:24Speaker 3: But it was fun to see the guys either thing.
- 2:27Speaker 3: It was fun to be a part of a one
- 2:29Speaker 3: o'clock game, which there aren't enough of those right now.
- 2:32Speaker 3: For the bills, which is something you earn. You know,
- 2:35Speaker 3: America is interested in the Buffalo Bills and I don't know.
- 2:38Speaker 3: They put me up in this really cool spot where
- 2:40Speaker 3: there's free food and more drinks. And let's just say
- 2:44Speaker 3: that for most of the game I was drinking water
- 2:46Speaker 3: because I wanted to be able to see down on
- 2:49Speaker 3: what was going on, and if I drank anymore, I
- 2:51Speaker 3: would have lost my vision. So it was awesome. It
- 2:54Speaker 3: was great seeing the guys and then being able to,
- 2:56Speaker 3: like you also, kind of hang out with them after
- 2:58Speaker 3: the game. Was their unique experience.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Well, okay, so your wife comes along for the journey.
- 3:04Speaker 1: What is the conversation before? Like, hun like just buckle up,
- 3:08Speaker 1: like just let me do me and and I'll be
- 3:11Speaker 1: present for the game.
- 3:14Speaker 3: No. I absolutely leaned on her before I left the house.
- 3:16Speaker 3: I said, I know when fun starts going down, you know,
- 3:19Speaker 3: when it starts rolling, it's like a snowball effect. I
- 3:22Speaker 3: can get kind of lost in it. And she she
- 3:25Speaker 3: knows me perfectly well, so she was able to kind
- 3:28Speaker 3: of push me when I needed to pull me back
- 3:30Speaker 3: when I needed to. But it was so fluid, and
- 3:33Speaker 3: she had done this before, so she was also very
- 3:35Speaker 3: cognizant of where to go.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I'm going to take you on a journey like.
- 3:39Speaker 3: This has been. You know, this is her cup of tea.
- 3:42Speaker 3: She knows what she's doing. She's had her finger on
- 3:44Speaker 3: the pulse of the tailgating aspect of Buffalo Bill's football
- 3:47Speaker 3: for a very long time. So we leaned on her heavily,
- 3:50Speaker 3: and she did not lead us astray. She was a
- 3:52Speaker 3: slammed dunk. You know, of course, my wife a lover,
- 3:55Speaker 3: but she also was able to get the kid to
- 3:59Speaker 3: the state also just sober n uugh that I could
- 4:02Speaker 3: do my thing and then.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Dip out, Way to go, Way to go. Wife.
- 4:07Speaker 1: So I see, you know, a couple clips of you
- 4:10Speaker 1: experiencing the tailgating atmosphere. You're in the hammers lot, you
- 4:14Speaker 1: are doing the catch up and mustard on pinto ron.
- 4:18Speaker 1: What did you learn about Bill's Mafia from getting to
- 4:22Speaker 1: tailgate with our crazy fan base.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Yeah, well, just the kindness. I mean, they're just so
- 4:28Speaker 3: generous with not only what they have, but also their time.
- 4:35Speaker 3: They're so invested in not only the experience of tailgating,
- 4:38Speaker 3: but the team itself, the guys they get to know you.
- 4:41Speaker 3: I mean, it's just the amount of people that knew
- 4:43Speaker 3: stuff about my life, stuff that was going on. They'd
- 4:47Speaker 3: invest in the guys, they invest in what's going on.
- 4:49Speaker 3: I mean, we know their philanthropic nature. They want to
- 4:52Speaker 3: know what you're doing. And I think it's one of
- 4:54Speaker 3: those things that if you put good out as a player,
- 4:57Speaker 3: they bring it back ten times full fold rather And
- 5:01Speaker 3: I had just the most amazing experience of those folks
- 5:05Speaker 3: because they're just so generous and kind.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Did you have a moment during tailgating where like you
- 5:10Speaker 1: look back on it from like the day after and
- 5:12Speaker 1: you're like, that felt.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Like a movie?
- 5:16Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean being on top of that, being on
- 5:19Speaker 3: top of that that truck and then sprang Pento Ron
- 5:22Speaker 3: it was a unique experience. I just I knew what
- 5:27Speaker 3: to expect, but when you're actually involved in it and
- 5:31Speaker 3: you're thrown into it. It's I wish I had the
- 5:34Speaker 3: vernacular to explain the feelings that I had sleeping or
- 5:38Speaker 3: sitting at night in that bed. It was just so great,
- 5:41Speaker 3: and I wish I had more. I wish I had
- 5:43Speaker 3: something more eloquent to say. But and I also know,
- 5:45Speaker 3: I'm very I'm very aware that the farther you are removed,
- 5:49Speaker 3: playing right, these experiences will still happen, but they won't
- 5:53Speaker 3: be as intimate with it, you know, because time March
- 5:56Speaker 3: is on, the fan base keeps growing and it gets young. Right.
- 6:00Speaker 3: It's just I know that this moment, this time was
- 6:04Speaker 3: so exceptionally unique that I just want to bottle it
- 6:07Speaker 3: up and hold it and not let it go.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Who is Mitch Moore as a fan.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Very of course, emotionally invested. Who mine as a fan intoxicated?
- 6:23Speaker 3: That's a great question. I'm still kind of figuring that out.
- 6:26Speaker 3: I would say mich Moore is a fan is fluid,
- 6:28Speaker 3: not only what he's consuming, but just how I'm trying
- 6:31Speaker 3: to process the information. Of course, he's just still my
- 6:33Speaker 3: friends doing their thing. But you know, it is fun
- 6:38Speaker 3: to kind of see it objectively to a certain extent,
- 6:41Speaker 3: to see what's going on and understand what it's like
- 6:43Speaker 3: watching while still having an emotional investment in the guys.
- 6:47Speaker 1: So you were obviously in town for the Saints game
- 6:49Speaker 1: because you were the legend of the game. That means
- 6:51Speaker 1: you got to lead the charge right before kickoff. You
- 6:55Speaker 1: put your own spin on it. How did the idea
- 6:57Speaker 1: come about?
- 6:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a great question, and why I was. We
- 7:01Speaker 3: got in there Thursday and then we had pretty full days.
- 7:03Speaker 3: But at night I'd sit there right just trying not
- 7:06Speaker 3: to stress out about the you know, the the you
- 7:10Speaker 3: know how intense the moment is and how important that
- 7:13Speaker 3: moment is, and of course I want to put my
- 7:15Speaker 3: own spin on it. Sure, but you know, I always
- 7:19Speaker 3: thought that the job of that person is not to
- 7:21Speaker 3: make it about themselves. Is about to grab the baton
- 7:25Speaker 3: of energy and pass it along as seamless as possible.
- 7:29Speaker 3: So I was trying not to go too far off script.
- 7:32Speaker 3: But you can't just read the script because then it
- 7:33Speaker 3: seems like, you know, you're not invested in it too much.
- 7:37Speaker 3: So yeah, the beer part was interesting. We had to
- 7:41Speaker 3: clear it from the top, right because if I'm like, hey,
- 7:43Speaker 3: I want to chug a beer, They're like, there's so
- 7:45Speaker 3: many things that can go wrong only if you think right.
- 7:49Speaker 3: But kudos to them. I looked at them in the
- 7:50Speaker 3: eye and I said, I promise you, I'm not going
- 7:52Speaker 3: to embarrass you. Guys. I promise you. I'm going to
- 7:55Speaker 3: do this the correct way and kind of interject that
- 7:57Speaker 3: energy into this crowd. So if, if, if, if you
- 8:00Speaker 3: trust me, I promise you I'll not lead you astray.
- 8:03Speaker 3: And then just have to make sure it's a little
- 8:05Speaker 3: bat blue or a little bat blue white. And then
- 8:07Speaker 3: the rest was those are.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Easy to find on Sunday in Buffalo.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Fine, and they're very gracious to let me do that.
- 8:15Speaker 3: So it's not lost on me how unique that was.
- 8:18Speaker 1: I was wondering with the beer. I was like, did
- 8:21Speaker 1: Mitch just like pull this out?
- 8:23Speaker 2: Like it was a two minute thing?
- 8:25Speaker 1: Like I'm I have a beer in my pocket, it's
- 8:28Speaker 1: just there and I'm just gonna chug it. So it's
- 8:30Speaker 1: nice to know that you cleared that through the top,
- 8:33Speaker 1: Like that just speaks to how responsible you are, even
- 8:36Speaker 1: though you were having so much fun on game day,
- 8:38Speaker 1: responsible enough to make sure it's okay to chug a
- 8:41Speaker 1: beer on the field.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Well, I couldn't sneak it in because you still have
- 8:44Speaker 3: to go through security, so they weren't letting any liquids in,
- 8:46Speaker 3: so I staid had to pass through, you know, the
- 8:48Speaker 3: chain of command rather and it went to the very top,
- 8:51Speaker 3: which I appreciate because the last thing I want to
- 8:52Speaker 3: do is ruffle any feathers because that's when you don't
- 8:55Speaker 3: get invite it back. And that's that's my greatest nightmare.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Is not met fanned from this stadium on his first
- 9:00Speaker 1: game back.
- 9:01Speaker 3: That's not cool. I want to bring my kids there
- 9:03Speaker 3: one day and have them experience it. So it was
- 9:07Speaker 3: I feel like it was pretty fluid.
- 9:09Speaker 1: When you're watching you, like when I was watching the
- 9:11Speaker 1: clip of you do this on the sidelines. It is
- 9:14Speaker 1: so hard to ignore the huge Legends community patch that
- 9:17Speaker 1: you now have on your jersey. How neat is it
- 9:19Speaker 1: to be a part of that community now.
- 9:22Speaker 3: It was the one of the greatest experience. Of course,
- 9:27Speaker 3: it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
- 9:29Speaker 3: But what a badge of honor. Right, So many guys
- 9:34Speaker 3: have played longer than I have for the Buffalo Bills.
- 9:36Speaker 3: So many guys probably had more accolades or anything like that.
- 9:40Speaker 3: But to be gifted or granted or being able to
- 9:43Speaker 3: enter that fraternity. It was something I don't take lightly
- 9:46Speaker 3: and something that I want to respect and foster. So
- 9:50Speaker 3: I'll always have that badge of honor and I will
- 9:54Speaker 3: not let it go lightly.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Another highlight of the trip for you was just getting
- 9:58Speaker 1: to see so many teammates that you played with. I
- 10:00Speaker 1: think that's one thing that's so unique to you, getting
- 10:03Speaker 1: to do this like two years after your you know,
- 10:06Speaker 1: you've been playing for the Bills. Your last year with
- 10:09Speaker 1: them was in twenty twenty three, and so you know
- 10:12Speaker 1: so many players on this team. Still, who was the
- 10:14Speaker 1: most excited to see you back in Buffalo?
- 10:18Speaker 3: Oh, that's a great question. I mean it was just
- 10:23Speaker 3: I probably was probably more excited to see people than
- 10:25Speaker 3: they were excited to see me. That being said, you know,
- 10:27Speaker 3: it was I don't think it'd be fair to say
- 10:30Speaker 3: one single person. I was blown away by the reception
- 10:33Speaker 3: from the guys, and I will not you know, I
- 10:37Speaker 3: know I've said this a thousand times. I do not
- 10:38Speaker 3: take that for granted. You know, I guess that means
- 10:41Speaker 3: I did something right. And uh, this is a relationship business.
- 10:45Speaker 3: It's about the people, and that was the most important
- 10:48Speaker 3: thing to me when I was there. It wasn't the
- 10:49Speaker 3: wins or losses. It was was I doing right by
- 10:52Speaker 3: the organization? Was I doing right by the people? And
- 10:54Speaker 3: I think just being received that way was really awe
- 10:58Speaker 3: inspiring and extremely humbling.
- 11:01Speaker 1: A lot of your friends are still in the NFL.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I mean they have crazy schedules. How do you maintain
- 11:05Speaker 1: those relationships to know, like, hey, when I'm back in town, like,
- 11:09Speaker 1: these are guys that I still actually talk.
- 11:11Speaker 3: To, great question. You have to be aware of time.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Their time is the most important, especially in season. Everyone's
- 11:21Speaker 3: got routines that are sacred to them. So it's about
- 11:23Speaker 3: being pliable to their schedule rather than trying them have
- 11:28Speaker 3: to pander to me. So they were very gracious with
- 11:32Speaker 3: their time. But also I was trying to be as
- 11:35Speaker 3: aware as I possibly could to not get in the
- 11:38Speaker 3: way of, you know, the keeping the main thing, the
- 11:40Speaker 3: main thing, which is them putting their best foot forward
- 11:42Speaker 3: on the on the field and being present for their teammates.
- 11:45Speaker 3: So I thought it went pretty well. Of course, I'm
- 11:48Speaker 3: going to try to keep doing that when I get
- 11:49Speaker 3: into that.
- 11:50Speaker 1: You spoke about your learning about who Mitch Morris is
- 11:54Speaker 1: as a fan. What's the difference in watching Josh Allen
- 11:58Speaker 1: as a fan compared to being the field next to
- 12:01Speaker 1: him and snapping the ball to him, Yeah.
- 12:04Speaker 3: You become way more aware of his superhero nature when
- 12:08Speaker 3: you're watching him from afar. I always felt like I
- 12:10Speaker 3: got lost in the game, lost in what was going
- 12:12Speaker 3: on in regards to my job. And I mean people
- 12:15Speaker 3: would tell me who scored. I would forget, you know,
- 12:18Speaker 3: it's just the truth of it. So to be able
- 12:20Speaker 3: to see him do his thing, you know, kind of
- 12:24Speaker 3: from the outside looking in, was it was such a treat.
- 12:27Speaker 3: And it does not disappoint in person, like it doesn't.
- 12:30Speaker 3: It doesn't disappoint on TV either. So it's just it's
- 12:34Speaker 3: just so unique and cool. It's fun as hell. It
- 12:37Speaker 3: was so sweet.
- 12:39Speaker 1: You played for the Bills for five incredible years. You've
- 12:42Speaker 1: gotten to watch four games now of this twenty twenty
- 12:45Speaker 1: five version of the Bills. What's different about this year's team?
- 12:51Speaker 3: You know, we had talked about it earlier, Maddie. It
- 12:54Speaker 3: was just how much fun they have playing the game
- 12:57Speaker 3: and how that correlates to them excuting on the fields.
- 13:03Speaker 3: It throws itself out from the screen, Like that's one
- 13:06Speaker 3: thing I see is that they they foster guys kind
- 13:10Speaker 3: of being in themselves and feeding each other with energy
- 13:14Speaker 3: and then celebrating each other. And when you can do
- 13:17Speaker 3: that and correlate that to good football, it's just so
- 13:19Speaker 3: much fun to see.
- 13:20Speaker 1: It's easy to get lost in a week, though, and
- 13:23Speaker 1: get caught up in oh, we're playing against the second
- 13:27Speaker 1: best run defense, or oh, we're playing against one of
- 13:30Speaker 1: the best quarterbacks in the league, and then from drive
- 13:34Speaker 1: to drive, if things aren't going right, it's hard to
- 13:38Speaker 1: make it fun. When you were with the Bills, how
- 13:40Speaker 1: did you find ways to make it fun when it
- 13:42Speaker 1: was tough?
- 13:43Speaker 3: I probably didn't do good enough job of smiling or
- 13:46Speaker 3: having too much fun. That's when you just go to
- 13:51Speaker 3: the personal piece of this. You foster these relationships. People
- 13:57Speaker 3: pour into you as much as you pour into them,
- 13:59Speaker 3: and then you get your opportunity to be vulnerable, lean
- 14:01Speaker 3: on each other. And then when the vulnerability leads to
- 14:05Speaker 3: getting to know each other even more. And then when
- 14:07Speaker 3: you get in these really tough times or these tough
- 14:09Speaker 3: moments and games or off the field even more so
- 14:12Speaker 3: than on the field, it just you're able to bounce back,
- 14:16Speaker 3: get back into a groove. And then you have people
- 14:18Speaker 3: helping you out because it is a people's business, like
- 14:20Speaker 3: we had talked about, and if you try to do
- 14:22Speaker 3: this by yourself or be a superhero by yourself, is
- 14:24Speaker 3: when you not only find that you know that's suffering
- 14:31Speaker 3: to compound, but then you lose sight of what's important.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Thing is that this is the ultimate team sport and
- 14:37Speaker 3: you're a part of something beautiful which is the team.
- 14:39Speaker 3: And then you guys go out together and execute as one.
- 14:43Speaker 3: So it's a fun experience.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Mitch.
- 14:47Speaker 1: You've got the podcast mic in front of yourself, you've
- 14:50Speaker 1: got the headphones, you got the backdrop. It's obvious that
- 14:53Speaker 1: you are now in the media landscape. Man, how did
- 14:57Speaker 1: you decide this is what I want to do after
- 15:00Speaker 1: with Bahl.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a great question, and it kind of throws
- 15:04Speaker 3: guys off who were with me when I was playing,
- 15:06Speaker 3: when I could be such a curmudgeon and get lost
- 15:09Speaker 3: and just being a professional and trying not me. I
- 15:12Speaker 3: didn't probably balance the fun enough with the with the
- 15:15Speaker 3: actual business side of it. It turns out I have
- 15:18Speaker 3: a horribly inflated ego that I found was was buried
- 15:23Speaker 3: and underneath probably my you know, one of my internal
- 15:27Speaker 3: organs that finally came through, and I just want strangers
- 15:31Speaker 3: to tell me I'm okay and then I'm doing right.
- 15:33Speaker 3: And besides that, I just love talking folks. I enjoy
- 15:37Speaker 3: talking about the one thing I probably have any that
- 15:41Speaker 3: I'm apt to talk about, which is football, and then
- 15:43Speaker 3: just getting to know people personally. They had me on
- 15:46Speaker 3: Good Morning Football a few times, and I found that
- 15:49Speaker 3: was such a unique experience and one that really fed
- 15:52Speaker 3: my soul and my spirit and I was on fire.
- 15:54Speaker 3: And so if I get an opportunity like that again,
- 15:57Speaker 3: I want to have some more reps at what I'm
- 15:59Speaker 3: doing and be able to talk in front of the cameras,
- 16:02Speaker 3: something that I thought would be more intuitive. But when
- 16:05Speaker 3: you just takes time on test any profession, the more
- 16:08Speaker 3: reps you take. So it's just a bless I have
- 16:12Speaker 3: so much fun doing it, and I hope that this
- 16:14Speaker 3: isn't something that crashes and burns and it's something that
- 16:17Speaker 3: we can just kind of slowly build on and have
- 16:20Speaker 3: more opportunities to do stuff like this. This is a
- 16:22Speaker 3: lot of fun for me.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, we go to Missoo together. I do
- 16:26Speaker 1: all the hard work and go through journalism school and
- 16:28Speaker 1: have to endure that for four years you don't have to.
- 16:32Speaker 1: But look at you now. The perks of being an
- 16:35Speaker 1: NFL player, I know it is true.
- 16:37Speaker 3: You find yourself being interviewed by people or being on
- 16:41Speaker 3: shows with folks, and they're just such heavy hitters. They've
- 16:44Speaker 3: worked at their craft, they know what they're doing, they
- 16:46Speaker 3: know how to segue, they know how to pick their
- 16:49Speaker 3: co hosts, to pick the people up there with when
- 16:51Speaker 3: they're struggling, or let people thrive when they're on a roll.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Like if that part is such a cool experience to
- 16:59Speaker 3: have one like I had talked about, super humbling and
- 17:02Speaker 3: just something you try to pick up because it is
- 17:03Speaker 3: not It's not intuitive for me. And I've had a
- 17:06Speaker 3: lot of people do me a lot of favors, and
- 17:09Speaker 3: I haven't been able to do many favors back. So
- 17:10Speaker 3: I'm hoping to continue this so that I can hopefully
- 17:13Speaker 3: at some point be doing well enough that I can
- 17:15Speaker 3: give some folks some favors.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Well, you know what, the Miszoo Journalism school would be
- 17:19Speaker 1: very proud just because you still win through that university
- 17:23Speaker 1: and look at you killing it in front of the camera.
- 17:26Speaker 2: So you came back for a Bills game.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Are you gonna do you have a Mazoo game on
- 17:30Speaker 1: your schedule anytime soon?
- 17:31Speaker 3: Sure? Do. Yeah, we're gonna go to November. We're gonna
- 17:34Speaker 3: go to the Mississippi State game.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Okay.
- 17:38Speaker 3: It actually asked me to go down to Columbia four
- 17:41Speaker 3: up to Columbia rather for the Kansas game, which would
- 17:43Speaker 3: have been a lot of fun, but I had I
- 17:45Speaker 3: was already predisposed. So I'm looking forward to that, you know,
- 17:49Speaker 3: getting that giant hammer and banging the hell out of
- 17:52Speaker 3: that big mo which is that drum they have, getting
- 17:54Speaker 3: the guys fired up, and then at the same time
- 17:55Speaker 3: just kind of letting them, let them fly. I won't
- 17:57Speaker 3: be any chugging any beers. I'll be hitting a drum,
- 17:59Speaker 3: and then I'll be kind of Scooby doing my way
- 18:02Speaker 3: to the sideline to watch the boys do their thing.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Have you gotten back for a game since you've been
- 18:07Speaker 1: out of football or did you ever go to a
- 18:10Speaker 1: game when you were in the NFL.
- 18:11Speaker 2: I know schedules don't line up.
- 18:13Speaker 3: But yeah, when I was in Kansas City, it was
- 18:15Speaker 3: a lot more. Besides that that time I was in Buffalo,
- 18:22Speaker 3: I was a family man. So as much time in
- 18:24Speaker 3: seasons you can spend with family. You you took advantage
- 18:26Speaker 3: of that. So I haven't been back in a very
- 18:28Speaker 3: long time for a game.
- 18:30Speaker 2: That's so fun.
- 18:30Speaker 1: I haven't been back in I think it's been like
- 18:33Speaker 1: seven or eight years. I want to go back so
- 18:36Speaker 1: badly for a game, but you know, schedules make it
- 18:39Speaker 1: hard when you work in the NFL. Hopefully, soon enough,
- 18:42Speaker 1: maybe I can line up with a bye week one
- 18:44Speaker 1: of these years. But it's been cool to see their
- 18:47Speaker 1: rise again because when when we were there, they jumped
- 18:50Speaker 1: from Big twelve to the SEC.
- 18:52Speaker 2: They got really good in football.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Basketball kind of took a step back, and then we
- 18:58Speaker 1: left and they went through some hard years and now
- 19:01Speaker 1: it looks like they're getting back in the right direction
- 19:04Speaker 1: with Drink as the head coach.
- 19:06Speaker 3: So yeah, it was fun and we were talking off air.
- 19:09Speaker 3: I get to talk to Drink of Wits on our
- 19:11Speaker 3: podcast and just to hear his thoughts, his process, especially
- 19:15Speaker 3: in this new world of college football, the semi professional world,
- 19:21Speaker 3: you know, a very transactional league unlike what we had.
- 19:26Speaker 3: He's just got a good grasp on it. He knows
- 19:28Speaker 3: who he is and it's fun to see those guys
- 19:31Speaker 3: play well. And I'm proud to be a Tiger. I
- 19:35Speaker 3: know you are too, and to see those guys do
- 19:37Speaker 3: well is such a fun experience.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Okay, Mitch, you got your own podcast. Where can people
- 19:43Speaker 1: find it and what is it about?
- 19:46Speaker 3: That's a great question. I'm glad you teed up the
- 19:49Speaker 3: kid for it. It's called Monday Mornings with Mitch. The
- 19:52Speaker 3: inception of it actually started in Buffalo at Jeff Maszourik,
- 19:56Speaker 3: who's the equipment manager, a good friend of mine. His
- 19:58Speaker 3: couch was where we would kind of process the game
- 20:01Speaker 3: on Mondays, sit around, chew the fat, talk wild stuff.
- 20:05Speaker 3: And then so when this opportunity came about, we just adopted.
- 20:09Speaker 3: What you know, I got his blessing, his holy blessing
- 20:11Speaker 3: to take that and roll with it, and we just
- 20:14Speaker 3: talk about football, we talk about life, try to get
- 20:18Speaker 3: to know the people that we talked about as much
- 20:21Speaker 3: as you know their relationship with the game and and
- 20:24Speaker 3: what's going on in their lives. So it's it's a
- 20:26Speaker 3: who You can find it on YouTube, Spotify, all these platforms,
- 20:31Speaker 3: and we promote the heck out of it on Instagram, TikTok, Twitter,
- 20:34Speaker 3: So give it a shout if you want. If not,
- 20:36Speaker 3: you're probably doing yourself a favor because it can be
- 20:39Speaker 3: kind of like, kind of would be all please give
- 20:41Speaker 3: us a shout and see what you think.
- 20:43Speaker 1: All right, and you guys release weekly episodes.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Correct.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Correct, We try to release on Mondays because that's the
- 20:49Speaker 3: name of the title. Yesterday it was we barely made
- 20:52Speaker 3: Monday Morning.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Mitch is hungover on Monday morning.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Struggling on the airplane, trying not to sweat, and scared
- 21:00Speaker 3: strangers on Monday morning.
- 21:01Speaker 2: So I love it.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Mitch. Thanks for coming on to talk all things Buffalo,
- 21:07Speaker 1: Bill's football and life after football. You're killing it and
