- Jaba: Hello everybody and welcome back to the Scout and the Speculator podcast. We made this shift yesterday, but we are fully leaning into it with our AFL recaps. We are calling it the fastest 10 minutes in the Arizona Fall League. So I have a 10-minute timer here. We're already down to 9 minutes and 50 seconds left. I'm going to kick it over to Jeremy. Jeremy, tell us what happened in the AFL yesterday. jheremy: Desert Dog Salt River Rafters. it was a one-nothing game, seven total hits. Not a whole lot really happened. Isaiah Drake did have a double. We like to see that. Cresantes had two doubles, Demetrio. I'm just gonna go back and forth between the two instead of going up and down the lineups because Kyle DeBarge, three punches, Jared Thomas, two punches, Dylan Lewis, two punches. Doesn't do anything for anybody. clearly the biggest takeaway here was Jarlon Susana going five innings. He got the loss. Who cares? It was off one earned run. He literally let up one hit in five innings. Struck out five. The numbers are coming down. What I see, the fastball is up to 102. His sinker is up to like 101. And that's like two very distinct shape profiles. So we like that. with that, kind of what we thought could have happened with Brandon Clark. Had Brandon Clark had come, like you're gonna get that big VLO. Just need enough. Obviously, he didn't show up in the AFL, but guess what? Susanna's paving the way, baby. in terms of anything else. Eduardo Quintero, he went he he picked up a hit, raised that average all the way up to one sixty seven, also stole his fifth bag of the year. Tate Southesine, for three, no punches. One for Davilon, O for three. Chase Harlan, for three. Johnny Severino, O for two. Just a whole lot of nothing between the two offenses, like at all. Crysante's had the two doubles. Like we love that. That's gonna raise the OPS up to seven seventy. Europe. Unless you want me to just do all three. Jaba: No, I I do want to quickly jump in and say, Easton Carmichael guy liked a lot going into the AFL, went O for three with a K. Batting a hundred with a three thirty-three OPS, so shout out to whoever bought the true orange ten I put up the other day. You definitely did me a favor, all you want on that. kicking it over, Scorpions beat the SolarSocks, eleven to six. Nathan Flewelling one for five, para K's, you guessed it, the hit was a single. Still Still waiting on a bit more juice out of flu. Zaire Hope had his first big day of the AFL, got the OPS up over 700 to 703. Two for five day, also both singles, walk K pair of RBIs. Dakota Jordan had another nice day, two for five with a trio of RBIs, all singles. OPSing 727, about to be expected. only 1K. That's that's That's a huge day for him. Neymarchoa just kind of went up and stood there. for three, two walks, two K's. maybe get the bat on something, just thinking out loud here. somebody Wentz hit a home run. I don't think that former met Joey Wentz. Dalton Wentz, probably jheremy: Dalton once. Dalton met once from South Carolina. Jaba: related. nothing notable on the pitching side. Just yeah, that's That was really it on that side. Namala, one for five, three K's. He's really cooled down lately. He was hitter of the week, I believe, the first week, if not the second week. But that's that's kinda in the rear view mirror now. He's been struggling a little bit. My guy, Aaron Parker, continues to go nuts here. Pair of singles. Two for three, two walks, one K. OPSing ten ninety-seven, and he stole his fifth base. So shout out to the short kings out there. Jake Cathy, jheremy: Mm-hmm. Jaba: for five. son of Sean Casey. OPSing four fifty. That's not gonna get it done. Bracing Guidez actually had a hit, which is worth celebrating. Hit in a walk, one for three, scored two runs. Nazan Zanatello, for two. yeah, just not not not a ton going on here. I'm trying to see if there are any jheremy: Yeah. Jaba: pitchers we're talking about, but there aren't. So jheremy: Brandon Barriera, healthy again. First rounder from twenty one, I think, for the Blue Jays. Two innings, three strikeouts. I wish Joey Dixon did have autos. He had he's just been dominant this year. out of Stanford, two innings, six five strikeouts for the start yesterday. Dominic Reed, not the greatest. Three walks, three Ks, three earn, one inning. So that I I got your pictures for you. Which brings us to the Javelinas in the Segueros, which Jaba: We still have five minutes, so we're we're getting jheremy: good. Jaba: good. jheremy: Well, guess what? Not a whole lot to fill up of the old discussion board here either. Yeah, Vance Honeycut, two hits, no Bowman, so we don't care. Two punch outs as well. Still has an OPS over a thousand though, so we do like that. Brandon Butterworth, feel like we haven't talked about him in a minute. One for three, pair of runs, pair of walks. he I feel like we haven't been talking about him. I don't know if he's been playing or what, but he's hitting leadoff now for Peoria. Samu Hernandez two for five day. C pair of RBIs had a double. I mean you kind of you talked about him at the beginning of everything, like not to really sleep on him, and he's hitting two eighty nine with the seven twenty five, so it's not horrendous at all. Ty Harvey had an O for four day. Your boy Frank Ellis Salt. Started the game, four strikeouts, three innings. I only brought him up because we talked about him earlier. He does not have Bowman. We do not have to worry. who does have Bowman that threw is Calvin Ziegler for your Mets. And he threw one inning, Jaba: Not good. jheremy: five earned, five runs, three hits, two walks. His ERA is almost up to your age right now. What do we got on the offensive side for the old Segueros? Jaba: Yeah, his ERA can legally drink by a comfortable margin. That's not great. jheremy: Tyrese Turner doesn't have Bowman. Austin Charles 0 for five with a pair of strikeouts, has all the tools in the world. If it clicks, like he is that type of athlete, and just that type of freaky, long bodied, long limbed, free flowing type athlete that will show you flashes, and if he can string it all together, then it's something. I think he was a twenty three draft name. Probably really cheap right now, but not doing a lot in the AFL. Cole Mathis one for four. Had a walk, hasn't really done much in his time down in Arizona. Arun Escobar, one for four, pair of runs, a walk, a hit, a strikeout. Luke Hill doesn't have Bowman. Fun player, fast switch. Arizona State, I believe, is where he got drafted out of, started at two lane, or vice versa. two for five. Jaba: Roll waves. jheremy: Two for five pair of pair of RBI came on a home run. So And then what we've all been waiting for, not for Jake Cook, who did he steal any bases? He did not steal a base. Nope. Jaba: Probably. Wow. jheremy: But he walked twice, but didn't steal it all. And it wasn't Boston Barrow who went one for four. Jaba: no, I I I think that that's not Jake Cook. That's Casey Cook. jheremy: that's right, it is. Gets me all the time. Well, Casey Cook went for two with a pair of walks. And Boss Mbarrow went one for four. And Cading Hedinger went one for four. Jaba: Just getting you double. jheremy: I'm warming up to Angel Gomez, who went two for five, raised that batting average up to three thirty-three with a nine six while still being seventeen years old. So that one of those two hits Jaba: That we're gonna steal. jheremy: was a double. can I control F? And see how hard. How doesn't it show up on the side to show me how hard it was hit? That's stupid. That's when technology fails. It won't show me where in that's only scoring, that's why. I apologize. Or key moments. Jaba: I'm I'm looking. I'm It was hit at ninety seven miles an hour. jheremy: There we go. Jaba: It was also like a foot above the zone. jheremy: Wonderful. And he sold a bag, which was his fourth Jaba: Fourth. jheremy: of the AFL. yeah, I mean his prices I if you did a buy sell hold with him right now, he's probably a buy because with what he's doing, I'm not sure where he's gonna when he's gonna be back down at these prices when you can get base auto sub a hundred. 'Cause Jesus Jaba: Yeah. jheremy: Made is dominating in the Dominican league right now. So like dominating. I have to imagine his prices have continued to go up as well, and I know I have time, so we will just kill the clock here talking about Jesus Made for a minute. Jaba: We have a minute and fifteen seconds. jheremy: Perfect. Can we get a Jesus Made comp on his first auto? Right here. Most recent did two fifty on best offer. Jaba: It's about Ben. jheremy: feels light. But like, guess what? A paper ten did four sixty eight. Like I think it's gonna take a minute. I don't know if people are gonna put any stock into what he's doing in the Dominican. I mean the one prior the one prior to that did three thirty. So for whatever it's worth, call it a three hundred dollar base auto right now. Angebel's floating in that eighty to a hundred dollar range and Angel had, I believe, a better DSL than Jesus Made did in his debut. So Jaba: He did. jheremy: now he's in the AFL, which is gonna make us think like, do they put him in high A? I think you and I kinda settled like they're not, but we have a whole segment of Angebel coming up that we can talk more about. So that is Jaba: Well, to to be fair, I said they might and then I said, You know far more than me, can you tell me this is crazy? And you kinda told me it was a little crazy. So jheremy: Fair. That's gotta be sub ten minutes. It is, right there, done. Jaba: It is ten seconds left. Alright, thank you everybody. We love ya. Let's go, Mets. We got more angible content coming right after this. See ya guys.
