- 1:30SPEAKER_00: There's a link in the show notes, and I hope to see you there.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Okay, let's get into today's episode.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: In the world of computers, WYSIWYG stands for what you see is what you get.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: And it refers to an editing system or interface where the content you see on screen shows exactly how it will look when it's printed or displayed elsewhere.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: But WYSIWYG can also refer to the writing life as a whole because what you see is truly what you get.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Do you see opportunities everywhere?
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Do you see people to connect with, people you can learn from?
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Do you see a world filled with publishing options and technology that lets you share and sell your work to anybody in the world with an internet connection?
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Do you see sparks of creativity in your life every day through the books you read, the people you meet, and the places you go?
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Or on the flip side, do you see negative people who are only out to get you?
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Do you see everybody else getting opportunities while you have to fight for scraps?
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Do you feel shut down by other people who don't like your work?
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Do you feel pressed for time and can never seem to get any writing done?
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Do you feel angry and upset by everything happening in the world today?
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Well, what you see is truly what you get.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: If you see possibilities for success, that's what you'll get.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: But if you see a world full of obstacles and frustrations, that's also what you're going to get.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: You know, Charles Dickens was right when he began his classic book, A Tale of Two Cities, with these words, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Everybody around you may feel like it's the worst of times, and they may complain about everything and feel stressed out, but you can choose to see something different.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: It's truly the best of times if you're a writer who's willing to put in the work and take advantage of the amazing opportunities that we all have today.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: A big thanks to today's sponsor, The Word Wizard.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: You may have written a great book, but it's not ready for publication until it's been in the hands of a master editor.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: That's why my friend Karen Hutsinger, also known as The Word Wizard, is the perfect partner to help you craft the highest quality book possible.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: A great editor doesn't just correct grammar and spelling, they also correct wordiness, shifts in tone and voice, the overuse of particular words, and they also enhance transitions, clarity, and accuracy.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: I've worked with Karen many times, and she is absolutely your secret weapon for crafting an amazing book.
