- 1:06SPEAKER_00: In our quest to make more time to write, most of the time we focus on getting rid of the big distractions.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: It's easy to feel like the world's against you as you deal with events, meetings, chores, and a never-ending list of tasks.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Now those items can make it difficult to squeeze in writing time for sure.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: However, there's a more insidious form of distraction, and those are the little things.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: It's all the social media notifications, it's the unsolicited or unwanted phone calls, it's things like text messages, it's the noise of people in the other room.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: It's the barking dogs and neighbors clattering around outside, and it's a dozen other things that steal your attention.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: When you sit down to write, those little distractions eat away at your time and your attention.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Now they might seem harmless in the moment, but it takes a couple of minutes to get your attention back when your attention is stolen away.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Those precious moments make up precious hours, which are then the building blocks of articles, podcasts, books, and more.
- 2:04unknown: E.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: B.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: White said, Creation is in part merely the business of foregoing the great and small distractions.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: And my goodness, how true that is.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: It's not just the big distractions, it's also those tiny ones that can so easily take us off course.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: So watch out for those little tiny distractions.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: They're far more dangerous than we realize.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Here's today's challenge.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: What are three little distractions that interrupt your writing, and how can you eliminate or reduce them?
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Hey, thanks for listening, and I'll see you next time.
