- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, we were really excited to hang out with our
- 0:03Speaker 1: guest today today, and then she brought a friend, and
- 0:06Speaker 1: now I'm even more excited to hang out with your friend.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Not that. Listen, Megan Baroni, you are great, you're a
- 0:12Speaker 1: fun interview. But your dog's here, so get out of
- 0:14Speaker 1: the way.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, it doesn't get better than this little
- 0:17Speaker 2: sweet face.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Isn't it funny when you become a dog parent that
- 0:20Speaker 1: that is how it gets right. Yeah, hey, you brought.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Have some manner.
- 0:28Speaker 1: It's all good. We're a dog We're a dog friendly establishment.
- 0:32Speaker 1: He's sitting he's literally guarding mom right now. I'm not promise.
- 0:36Speaker 2: I think she's a little I don't know what's up
- 0:40Speaker 2: with her today.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Over stimulated. All these people are like, oh my gosh.
- 0:44Speaker 2: She's like, she's not that cool. I don't know why
- 0:46Speaker 2: you want to interview her.
- 0:49Speaker 1: He's like, I humble her. She picks up my poop.
- 0:56Speaker 1: It's fine. Is it tough to have a dog and
- 1:01Speaker 1: like have the life that you have At the same time,
- 1:05Speaker 1: I think it makes.
- 1:06Speaker 2: My life better.
- 1:07Speaker 3: It's really tough, But I think I have enough help
- 1:12Speaker 3: out on the road that I'm not the one that, like,
- 1:16Speaker 3: you know, fifteen minutes before show goes and takes her outside.
- 1:18Speaker 2: I have someone else.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Unfortunately, ready, you got to delay the show five minutes
- 1:25Speaker 1: because you've done It's actually two.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Boots is becoming such a hot commodity that we have
- 1:32Speaker 3: to take her off site of the arena sometimes to
- 1:34Speaker 3: go to the bathroom because my fans recognize her, so
- 1:37Speaker 3: she can't focus to go to the bathroom.
- 1:39Speaker 1: So, oh, Boots is how far away is Boots from?
- 1:43Speaker 1: Like merch? And what do you?
- 1:46Speaker 2: Oh, Boots merch, we already have it. Yeah we need to.
- 1:50Speaker 3: We just have to pull the trigger on that and
- 1:52Speaker 3: like upload it. But I'm trying to work out the
- 1:55Speaker 3: details and stuff. But yeah, of course Boots Merch is already.
- 1:58Speaker 3: She's got her own Instagram. It's emo cow Dog.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Emo cow Dog.
- 2:02Speaker 2: I love that.
- 2:04Speaker 1: How are things going on the tour because I'm seen
- 2:06Speaker 1: on social media you look like you're having the time
- 2:09Speaker 1: of your life. I know it's still a grind, but
- 2:12Speaker 1: you look like you're like, holy cow, this is it's
- 2:15Speaker 1: all happening.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that is a very accurate take. I am having
- 2:20Speaker 3: the best time. It's amazing. I'm still processing that. I
- 2:25Speaker 3: like am playing arenas you know, I think like for
- 2:28Speaker 3: so long, you know, you write the songs and then
- 2:31Speaker 3: a couple of people listen to music and you build,
- 2:34Speaker 3: like you build your fan base, one fan at a time,
- 2:36Speaker 3: and then it's almost like you blink and then you're like, wait,
- 2:39Speaker 3: am I really here?
- 2:40Speaker 2: Like did this?
- 2:41Speaker 3: Many people like plan their evening around and not just
- 2:45Speaker 3: their evening, probably their week and their month around like coming.
- 2:49Speaker 2: To this show. It's I feel really grateful.
- 2:52Speaker 3: So it's very easy to have like the best time
- 2:55Speaker 3: every night you are.
- 2:58Speaker 1: The tour started not long ago. What has what have
- 3:00Speaker 1: been some highlights that like if you look back, look
- 3:03Speaker 1: back like you're eighty five people, oh back in the day,
- 3:06Speaker 1: but look back at the at the first few tour
- 3:09Speaker 1: stops at like, oh, this is awesome, this happened, or
- 3:12Speaker 1: holy cow, this happened.
- 3:14Speaker 3: The two nights in Chicago really blew me away. Like
- 3:16Speaker 3: the United Center, I don't know, we just like drove
- 3:20Speaker 3: by it outside and I was like that place is
- 3:23Speaker 3: huge and I'm playing two nights there, Holy crap, And
- 3:27Speaker 3: just just see you know, like sometimes I can look
- 3:31Speaker 3: out the window and see what's happening outside and it's
- 3:33Speaker 3: just a sea of pink.
- 3:35Speaker 2: That's been really amazing in every single city.
- 3:37Speaker 3: The fans show up, show out, And I think the
- 3:40Speaker 3: most notable thing thus far is the two nights at
- 3:44Speaker 3: State Farm Marena in Atlanta, back when it was Phillips Arena.
- 3:49Speaker 3: I saw Justin Bieber there for my second concert ever,
- 3:52Speaker 3: and I was up in like the nosebleeds and that
- 3:56Speaker 3: was in twenty thirteen, so that was thirteen years ago,
- 3:58Speaker 3: and I just like, I don't think even at that time,
- 4:03Speaker 3: like like I said, I thought I was gonna an accountant,
- 4:04Speaker 3: you know, So it wasn't. I wasn't at the Justin
- 4:06Speaker 3: Bieber concert being like, oh my god, this is gonna
- 4:08Speaker 3: be me one day. Like I was just there as.
- 4:10Speaker 2: A fan, and so I went up to.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Where my seats were and I just like looked out,
- 4:14Speaker 3: Oh you yeah, And it's like, I don't know, I
- 4:18Speaker 3: just feel really grateful. I feel like a lot of
- 4:20Speaker 3: things had to go right to get me to this point.
- 4:23Speaker 3: And so the motto has really just been like being
- 4:28Speaker 3: very grateful and just a lot of gratitude going around
- 4:31Speaker 3: because so many things had to go right, and I've
- 4:34Speaker 3: got like an amazing touring crew, an amazing band, and
- 4:37Speaker 3: they make my life so easy on the road. Everything
- 4:41Speaker 3: is like so routine and stuff too. So it's just
- 4:43Speaker 3: like we're having the best time and it's it's.
- 4:48Speaker 2: It's like unbelievable kind.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Of you you bring up going to sit up in
- 4:51Speaker 1: that seat right likely mid three hundreds. Yeah, that's something now.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I was going to bring it up before you said
- 4:57Speaker 1: that too. That's something that Kenny Chesney does is he
- 5:00Speaker 1: places massive stadiums. Is at some point, likely after soundcheck,
- 5:04Speaker 1: he'll literally go up all by himself and he'll sit
- 5:07Speaker 1: at one of the last seats in the venue, far
- 5:10Speaker 1: from the stage. And he said, it's because you don't
- 5:12Speaker 1: get the same perspective from the stage, Yeah, as you
- 5:16Speaker 1: would like going out and physically sitting with that person
- 5:19Speaker 1: you know who paid their harder money. Is that something
- 5:22Speaker 1: that helps you boots on the move? Is that all?
- 5:27Speaker 1: Is that something that that helps you gain perspective when
- 5:30Speaker 1: you can go out and do something like that, Because
- 5:32Speaker 1: soundcheck is one thing empty building it fills up, that's
- 5:36Speaker 1: another way. But like to literally go out and be
- 5:38Speaker 1: like holy cow, Yeah.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I think it definitely puts things into perspective when you
- 5:45Speaker 3: like are up there and you see how big the
- 5:47Speaker 3: place is. I think Unfortunately, when you play arenas regularly,
- 5:53Speaker 3: you get used to the size of them and you're like, oh,
- 5:54Speaker 3: I feel comfy up here. But like when you go
- 5:56Speaker 3: up in the nosebleeds, it's like that's when I'm like,
- 5:59Speaker 3: I can't believe, like this many people care enough to
- 6:03Speaker 3: like and not only do they show up, they've like
- 6:06Speaker 3: planned their outfits around it, you know what I mean,
- 6:08Speaker 3: Like this is stuff that they've been this is a
- 6:09Speaker 3: concert they've been looking forward to for months, and it's
- 6:13Speaker 3: just really cool to see.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Especially when I go.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Up in the window, I'm like, you know, I've been
- 6:18Speaker 3: with the people in the pit all night, and I'm
- 6:19Speaker 3: in the lower bowl. I can like see them pretty well.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Then it's like I go up in the window and
- 6:23Speaker 3: I see the people in the nose bleathe and it's
- 6:25Speaker 3: like a whole different perspective. These are like they're having
- 6:29Speaker 3: the best time up here, and they've been the farthest
- 6:31Speaker 3: away the whole time.
- 6:32Speaker 2: But just to see like.
- 6:34Speaker 3: They're all experiencing the concert the same way, it feels
- 6:38Speaker 3: like very.
- 6:40Speaker 2: It's just a really unique experience.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Like when I'm singing beautiful things, I'm like, wow, we're
- 6:45Speaker 3: all here. There is fifty thousand people here, we all
- 6:49Speaker 3: like love the same music, and we're all here with
- 6:52Speaker 3: the same message, and it feels like just very hopeful,
- 6:55Speaker 3: and there's like a lot of love in the room,
- 6:56Speaker 3: and I feel like you can really feel it, and
- 6:58Speaker 3: it's cool to see from.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Top of the arena, bottom everywhere are Yeah.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Is it? Is it tough to focus because you shared
- 7:07Speaker 1: an an emotional story about about beautiful things with Saint
- 7:11Speaker 1: Jude and you perform the song there one of the
- 7:13Speaker 1: first times in front of people now knowing and I
- 7:16Speaker 1: see on social media how different crowds react and there's
- 7:19Speaker 1: people singing at the top of their lungs. There's you know,
- 7:21Speaker 1: teenage girls crying harder than they've ever cried before, knowing
- 7:26Speaker 1: that a song like that can mean something different to everybody. Like,
- 7:29Speaker 1: is it tough not to like almost like absorb their
- 7:33Speaker 1: emotions as you're performing it?
- 7:36Speaker 2: Yeah? I think I definitely.
- 7:37Speaker 3: When I'm like looking out into the crowd, I'm definitely
- 7:40Speaker 3: observing everybody and how they're reacting to it, and it
- 7:45Speaker 3: gets kind of emotional sometimes, But I think more so
- 7:49Speaker 3: I just I feel lucky to have a song that
- 7:51Speaker 3: does that. You know, Like there's certainly like fun songs
- 7:55Speaker 3: on the set that don't make you want to cry,
- 7:57Speaker 3: but to see that like a song that me and
- 8:02Speaker 3: my friends wrote can like impact people and truly like
- 8:05Speaker 3: give them hope and like help them get through situations.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I have parents come up to me all the time.
- 8:10Speaker 3: People come up to me too, like my fans themselves
- 8:13Speaker 3: will say it, but.
- 8:14Speaker 2: It's especially like.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Crazy, I guess when a parent comes up and is like,
- 8:19Speaker 3: you know, she's really been struggling at school and this
- 8:21Speaker 3: song is the only way she can talk to me
- 8:23Speaker 3: about it, And so like, thank you for writing this song,
- 8:26Speaker 3: because I wouldn't know about.
- 8:27Speaker 2: What she's going through if it wasn't for that this.
- 8:29Speaker 3: And it's like when we sat down and wrote the song,
- 8:32Speaker 3: obviously I'm writing it for my niece. Never could imagine
- 8:34Speaker 3: it would have that kind of impact. But then when
- 8:36Speaker 3: you realize it does, it's like, you know, I must be.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Doing what I'm supposed to be doing, because that's cool.
- 8:43Speaker 1: That and dog mom, Yes, two things you were brought
- 8:46Speaker 1: here for. You brought up seeing the sea of pink.
- 8:50Speaker 1: You know, when you're at a venue and you're able
- 8:52Speaker 1: to see out as people are getting ready to come
- 8:54Speaker 1: to the venue. Do you cause you said when last
- 8:58Speaker 1: time we talked before Cloud nown came out, it was
- 9:00Speaker 1: like it's fun, like you know, it's it's It wasn't
- 9:04Speaker 1: something intentional at first. You did it just because it
- 9:06Speaker 1: was fun. Now it's going to be expected with everything
- 9:10Speaker 1: you do. Yeah, until the end of time. Do you
- 9:14Speaker 1: put pressure on yourself now, like thinking what's next? Or
- 9:17Speaker 1: you're like, it's fun. We'll figure out when we figured out.
- 9:21Speaker 3: I have a very clear vision of where I'm going.
- 9:25Speaker 3: But I will say for right now until October, I've
- 9:31Speaker 3: made a rule to myself that I can't write songs
- 9:34Speaker 3: for my next album until the tour's over because I'm
- 9:37Speaker 3: trying to really enjoy the Pink and.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Enjoy Cloud nine.
- 9:41Speaker 3: And I just think that like during am I Okay,
- 9:46Speaker 3: those are amazing shows. Like I think when I look
- 9:50Speaker 3: back and however many years I'm gonna be like the
- 9:51Speaker 3: amok tours when I really realize like, oh, this is
- 9:54Speaker 3: like really special. But during am I Okay in the
- 9:58Speaker 3: m ik tour, I.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Had most of nine written. I knew it was pink.
- 10:01Speaker 3: The Arena tour was booked, it just wasn't announced yet,
- 10:03Speaker 3: so I knew, like when I'm selling out Radio City, yeah,
- 10:07Speaker 3: but I'm having an arena tour next year, so it's
- 10:09Speaker 3: hard to not like be excited about that. So I'm
- 10:12Speaker 3: trying my best to just be in this moment because
- 10:17Speaker 3: I mean to have a sold out arena tour, Like
- 10:20Speaker 3: I don't just want to brush it off and be like, well,
- 10:21Speaker 3: what's next? Like it's like, no, this is amazing, you know,
- 10:25Speaker 3: Like I started writing songs because it's therapeutic, and I
- 10:29Speaker 3: started posting it on the internet and somehow it got
- 10:34Speaker 3: me here. So let's enjoy this and let's not worry
- 10:37Speaker 3: about what's next, because I'm sure great things will come next,
- 10:41Speaker 3: but let's like worry about that when.
- 10:43Speaker 1: The time is it Is that something that you had
- 10:46Speaker 1: to step back and learn intentionally because as an artist,
- 10:49Speaker 1: you're almost not conditioned to live that way, right, because
- 10:52Speaker 1: it's like Okay, that was great, what's next?
- 10:53Speaker 2: Right, and you're.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Worried about your future, like, oh, I've got to make
- 10:56Speaker 3: sure that if I have the success, how do I
- 10:58Speaker 3: keep it? Like I gotta eighteen steps ahead at all times.
- 11:01Speaker 3: But I think when I like look back on especially
- 11:06Speaker 3: the Lucky era, like I kind of more in the
- 11:07Speaker 3: Lucky era because it was only a year, like I
- 11:10Speaker 3: released Lucky and then one year later I released.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Him My Okay, so it was only green for a year.
- 11:16Speaker 3: And I wish, I wish I would have taken more
- 11:19Speaker 3: pictures during that era. I wish I would have like,
- 11:22Speaker 3: I don't know, I guess when you're building a career, though,
- 11:25Speaker 3: you've got to kind of be like, you know, bam
- 11:27Speaker 3: ba ba ba bam, and there's.
- 11:28Speaker 2: That's just like how it is.
- 11:29Speaker 3: But I'm trying to I guess maybe I'm a little
- 11:33Speaker 3: bit older too now. I'm trying to just be like,
- 11:35Speaker 3: you know what, be proud of, like what yourself and
- 11:39Speaker 3: your team has built together, you know, like enjoy this.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Great things will come after. Because that's how I operate.
- 11:46Speaker 3: I always like I do have the eighteen steps planned ahead,
- 11:49Speaker 3: but I'm not going to act on them yet, you
- 11:51Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I'm like, Okay, just save it, save it.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Listen. If you ever wanted to go back and relive
- 11:56Speaker 1: a chapter artists all the time, Mayren Morris is doing
- 11:59Speaker 1: it in August. You could just take one night at
- 12:02Speaker 1: the Ryman and let that project live that night, one
- 12:06Speaker 1: night only.
- 12:07Speaker 3: So true, Yeah, I need to do something like that
- 12:12Speaker 3: because even I do a surprise song every night, and
- 12:15Speaker 3: I've been playing like songs from Lucky and and my
- 12:19Speaker 3: fans like they love them so much, and it makes
- 12:21Speaker 3: me sad because I'm like, the Vinnies were so small
- 12:23Speaker 3: back then, Like a lot of these people here, you know,
- 12:26Speaker 3: if there's fifteen thousand people here, there's a thousand people
- 12:29Speaker 3: are less than the Lucky tour, So they didn't even
- 12:30Speaker 3: get to hear these songs live, you know. So maybe
- 12:34Speaker 3: I'll do a little throwback thing at some point.
- 12:36Speaker 1: But the other thing I wanted to bring up, and
- 12:39Speaker 1: it's a testament to your fan base because it goes
- 12:42Speaker 1: down to teenage girls to men, to moms to and
- 12:46Speaker 1: everybody in between. In an era where it seems like,
- 12:51Speaker 1: and I'm not calling anybody out by name, it's it's
- 12:54Speaker 1: hard to sell concert tickets right now. For some tours,
- 12:57Speaker 1: Whole tours are being canceled, cities are being skipped, you know, postponed,
- 13:02Speaker 1: all that. You are having no issue moving tickets. Your
- 13:07Speaker 1: fans are passionate. It's selling out in record time in
- 13:10Speaker 1: a lot of these cities. So to know that in
- 13:12Speaker 1: a time where the dollar is tight everywhere, no matter
- 13:17Speaker 1: what you know how much you're making tours are being
- 13:20Speaker 1: affected greatly by that, But like you are in a
- 13:22Speaker 1: place right now where your fans are like, we will
- 13:26Speaker 1: cancel Netflix, we will resubscribe in September, we are going
- 13:30Speaker 1: to the Cloud nine tour.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it is all you know, my fans.
- 13:37Speaker 3: And I think what's special about my concerts is it
- 13:43Speaker 3: obviously comes down to the songs, but it's not just
- 13:46Speaker 3: a concert. It's like an experience. I always say it's
- 13:48Speaker 3: group therapy, and it sounds kind of cringey, but it
- 13:51Speaker 3: is true. Like there are songs where like you can
- 13:54Speaker 3: let out your anger, and there's songs where like if
- 13:57Speaker 3: you cry, you're not the only one crying.
- 13:59Speaker 2: So it's fine, Like it's not gonna be weird.
- 14:02Speaker 3: And then there's fun songs like it's just it's more
- 14:04Speaker 3: of an event, and I I don't know, I think
- 14:08Speaker 3: the fans kind of the community, they've kind of created
- 14:11Speaker 3: that alongside, like with the with the songs and everything,
- 14:16Speaker 3: and it's just I think it's really beautiful to see
- 14:18Speaker 3: and I'm I, uh, yeah, it's great.
- 14:23Speaker 1: You are still so early in your career, but it
- 14:26Speaker 1: feels like every move you're making you have spent a
- 14:29Speaker 1: lot of time with and I mean we. You had
- 14:32Speaker 1: visited us right before Cloud nine came out. You were here,
- 14:36Speaker 1: and a couple of days later, I see this blonde
- 14:40Speaker 1: lady all done up, walking in with a massive pink
- 14:43Speaker 1: dress and a raising canes across the street. I was
- 14:45Speaker 1: because you were shooting like some promos. I'm like, my god,
- 14:49Speaker 1: she's all over the place. Yeah, as these opportunities outside
- 14:53Speaker 1: of just the music itself pop up, because you're to
- 14:56Speaker 1: a point where Megan Maroney's a big name in country music,
- 14:59Speaker 1: like your tours are, your dates are selling out. How
- 15:02Speaker 1: do you know what is right to say yes to
- 15:04Speaker 1: and no too? Because I'm sure your team gets approached,
- 15:06Speaker 1: you get approached. There's emails and texts all the time.
- 15:09Speaker 1: How are you making sure like it's not like, yeah,
- 15:12Speaker 1: let's let's spread ourselves out versus like okay, that's right,
- 15:15Speaker 1: these ones are not okay, let's do these two.
- 15:18Speaker 2: It's truly like a gut thing.
- 15:20Speaker 3: I've never taken any sort of deal or endorsement of
- 15:25Speaker 3: something that I didn't organically already Like yeah, so that's
- 15:29Speaker 3: been easy. Like it's nice when like canes comes to you.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Because I'm like I fucking love Kanes. Like in in college,
- 15:35Speaker 3: my bio was like, oh, can I get a three
- 15:37Speaker 3: fingercumbo mealed extra cane seals in a sprite?
- 15:40Speaker 2: Like that was my bio.
- 15:41Speaker 1: I was just gonna ask when you go to Cane.
- 15:43Speaker 2: You know what I mean. So it's like when they
- 15:45Speaker 2: come to me, I'm like, that's an no brainer, like
- 15:47Speaker 2: absolutely yes.
- 15:49Speaker 3: And I think too, I've I've never taken anything like
- 15:53Speaker 3: just for money because I think that when you do that,
- 15:57Speaker 3: like I'm here to do music, So it's like anything
- 16:00Speaker 3: that else comes needs to be like make sense with
- 16:03Speaker 3: like who I am as a person, and like I
- 16:06Speaker 3: need to like it. So it's kind of just like
- 16:09Speaker 3: not money grabbing is important and because I think like
- 16:12Speaker 3: in the long run, if you don't money grab now,
- 16:15Speaker 3: it'll just you'll have more longevity.
- 16:17Speaker 1: To and eventually people see through that, right Yeah, Like yeah,
- 16:21Speaker 1: And the Canes thing was like I'm like, I hope
- 16:23Speaker 1: not only you get paid for that, but I hope
- 16:25Speaker 1: you please tell me there's like a Cane's card where
- 16:27Speaker 1: you're like I'm in the family.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I think too, Like whenever whatever city I'm in,
- 16:31Speaker 3: like I can like call and they will have like
- 16:33Speaker 3: canes delivered to wherever I'm at.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I think it's like a big perk.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Can I tell you I've had a lot of career goals,
- 16:38Speaker 1: comfortable retirement, lake house, I have a new one.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Yeah, at any point, like they'll they'll find someone to
- 16:46Speaker 3: deliver it to me. I'm like like a princess. I
- 16:50Speaker 3: the Canes Princess.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Next album The Canes Princess, and the color is cane sauce.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Yes. Can you imagine I could drink that for real?
- 17:00Speaker 1: Why is it so good?
- 17:01Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna ask you a question that will I'll
- 17:06Speaker 1: have to wait half a second. Have you tried Dave's
- 17:09Speaker 1: Hot Chicken before? Because I don't want to disrespect Canes.
- 17:11Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 17:12Speaker 1: It's way different, So it's it's it's gonna go. It's
- 17:15Speaker 1: way different. It's similar, but it's just different. It's if
- 17:19Speaker 1: you get the chance to try, it's not as good
- 17:21Speaker 1: as canes. We were just home in Minneapolis over the
- 17:24Speaker 1: weekend or this past week. I guess there's one in
- 17:27Speaker 1: town here somewhere, but it's Dave's Hot Chicken.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Is fast food fast chicken.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Yeah, but you picked the level of hot, so like,
- 17:35Speaker 1: I'm not like a super hot chicken hot guy. So
- 17:38Speaker 1: I did light Mile. Actually, Megan Maroni's just dad joke
- 17:46Speaker 1: the hell out of me. As you as you continue
- 17:51Speaker 1: to move forward career wise, Uh, I am, and especially
- 17:55Speaker 1: a dad of a young girl. It's awesome to see
- 17:57Speaker 1: where ladies and country music are right now. And we
- 18:00Speaker 1: touched on that a little bit last time you're here.
- 18:02Speaker 1: But women are performing in country music unlike they ever
- 18:07Speaker 1: have before. It used to be I'm a country artist,
- 18:11Speaker 1: I'm a country artist. I'm a female country artist. Yeah,
- 18:14Speaker 1: it feels like that has it's gone. Yeah, you are
- 18:18Speaker 1: a big part of that. Laney's a big part of that.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Ella is a big part of that. What does it
- 18:22Speaker 1: mean for you to stand at arguably, and it's never
- 18:26Speaker 1: disrespect to the ladies that came before you, but arguably
- 18:29Speaker 1: the best moment for women that has ever existed in country.
- 18:35Speaker 2: It's amazing.
- 18:36Speaker 3: I think that you know, when there's honest storytelling and
- 18:40Speaker 3: you have like just like a distinct lane and it's
- 18:46Speaker 3: organic and.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Authentic and.
- 18:50Speaker 3: It just happens, it's natural, And I think, like with
- 18:54Speaker 3: the other there's so many great women in country that
- 18:57Speaker 3: I think like because of the successful we're having is
- 19:00Speaker 3: going to open doors for them, Like I'm so excited
- 19:02Speaker 3: for like all the success Card of.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Faith has been having.
- 19:05Speaker 3: I love McKenzie Carpenter too. We read a lot of
- 19:08Speaker 3: songs together, and I think, like Lacey K. Booth is amazing,
- 19:11Speaker 3: there's so many and I think that like the more
- 19:15Speaker 3: commercial success we have, it opens doors for There's so
- 19:19Speaker 3: many amazing women in Nashville or in country music.
- 19:22Speaker 1: So there there's a special relationship with country radio because
- 19:29Speaker 1: you have killed streaming. I mean, you've set records, you've
- 19:32Speaker 1: rebranded buildings down the street at one point, but when
- 19:36Speaker 1: it comes to country radio, it's it's a special relationship
- 19:39Speaker 1: where it's like here's your current single. This is somebody
- 19:43Speaker 1: possibly hearing it for the first time, discovering you for
- 19:46Speaker 1: the first time. So knowing that streaming is still big,
- 19:49Speaker 1: social media is still big, what is the relationship that
- 19:52Speaker 1: you with country radio and your fans, Like, why is
- 19:55Speaker 1: that still important to you today?
- 19:58Speaker 3: Well, I think country radio is always allowed people that
- 20:03Speaker 3: maybe wouldn't choose to go voluntarily stream my music.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Like it allows them to discover me. You know.
- 20:10Speaker 3: I think when I grew up listening to country radio,
- 20:14Speaker 3: like that's they were playing?
- 20:16Speaker 2: What good music is? You know what I mean?
- 20:17Speaker 3: So I think that if you're someone who uses country
- 20:21Speaker 3: music to discover new artists, like and maybe I'm not
- 20:25Speaker 3: your jam based on like my Instagram and all the
- 20:27Speaker 3: sparkles and shit, like maybe you hear medicine and you're like,
- 20:30Speaker 3: who is that and you're like, oh, it's Mecca Maron
- 20:33Speaker 3: and they're like, oh, I hated her, but that song
- 20:34Speaker 3: is really good, you know what I mean? But no,
- 20:37Speaker 3: I think that country radio is just still so important
- 20:42Speaker 3: to I just think to have that like mainstream and
- 20:45Speaker 3: it's another way that my music is getting out to people.
- 20:49Speaker 3: And like, I want as many people that would like
- 20:52Speaker 3: my music to have access to it and to hear it.
- 20:55Speaker 3: So I feel lucky to have country radio support.
- 20:59Speaker 1: You have won an award at damn near every award show,
- 21:02Speaker 1: I mean, outside of like one award, the ones that
- 21:08Speaker 1: matter you have won. But when it comes to the
- 21:12Speaker 1: awards and like and the things that are important in
- 21:15Speaker 1: an artist's tenure, right like to you perform at this show,
- 21:19Speaker 1: nominated for this, win this? What are other things that
- 21:23Speaker 1: you're like? This is? This is important to me too,
- 21:25Speaker 1: that a fan might not realize or I mean even
- 21:28Speaker 1: I might not realize.
- 21:31Speaker 2: I think, Like I don't know.
- 21:33Speaker 3: The most important thing to me is giving back to
- 21:37Speaker 3: my fans, I think, and making them feel like they
- 21:40Speaker 3: have the opportunities.
- 21:41Speaker 2: That they want with me and my music.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Yeah, so if that means like even like touring as
- 21:47Speaker 3: much as I have, Like I want my fans to
- 21:48Speaker 3: be able to come see me if they listen to
- 21:50Speaker 3: my music all the time. I haven't stopped touring since
- 21:52Speaker 3: twenty twenty two, Like I haven't taken a break. So
- 21:57Speaker 3: I would say that, and then I don't know. I
- 21:59Speaker 3: just I always want to surprise my fans and like
- 22:03Speaker 3: outdo myself. You know. It's I'm always in competition with myself,
- 22:06Speaker 3: Like this was amazing. Like I remember at the MYOK
- 22:09Speaker 3: tour back then, like I was doing my big one,
- 22:12Speaker 3: you know what I mean. I had like the little
- 22:13Speaker 3: heart thing I was sitting in and I remember like
- 22:16Speaker 3: at the start of the MYOK tour, I'm like, how
- 22:17Speaker 3: are we ever going to outdo it? And then like
- 22:19Speaker 3: the Cloud nine tour came. So even when we're on
- 22:21Speaker 3: the Cloud nine tour, we're like, you know, we try
- 22:24Speaker 3: not to think this way, but like, how are we
- 22:25Speaker 3: going to outdo ourselves next time?
- 22:26Speaker 2: But I know we will, But.
- 22:28Speaker 3: It's just like I always just like to level up
- 22:31Speaker 3: and let my fans grow with me and like just
- 22:33Speaker 3: give them things to.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Be excited about because I don't know. I think I
- 22:39Speaker 2: have like the best job ever.
- 22:41Speaker 1: And you're killing at it. Congratulations, Thank you, dog Mom,
- 22:45Speaker 1: country music superstar Mega Maroni. Thanks for hanging out.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Thanks thanks for letting her come. She HiT's her nap time.
- 22:52Speaker 2: She finally settled down after being a little menace.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I'll put my hat back. Honestly, attack me.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Honestly, she's scared of men a little it, and I
- 23:00Speaker 3: think it's because we don't have that many minimum around.
- 23:03Speaker 2: She has a lot of estrogen in
- 23:04Speaker 3: Her life, a lot of aunties.
