- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: Santa Clara conquered.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: Also got locations in Southern California.

- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: and you're getting that same quality of food when you're in a Levi stadium there is nothing like it and there's definitely nothing like it in a stadium if you get to go to one of their locations not in the stadium if you get it's the perfect place to hang out told you about this many times TV's watch games
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: business lunch, date night, boys night.

- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to be so well taken care of.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to have so many great food and drink options.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: So thank you to Puesto.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you to the Adler brothers who are crushing it.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: absolutely crushing it and thanks to them for supporting the show.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: Go support them and it's one of these things where it's like you support them, but you're the real winner in the end.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: You support this show, but you're the real winner in the end because you get to eat the plus toe.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: Right, let's get on with it.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: And what is shaping up to be a very weird and a failure.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think now we're about halfway through for most teams or for a lot of the teams like the 49ers.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's a weird year and there's not really another team like the 49ers.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: It is Sunday afternoon.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: The afternoon games are happening right now.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: Guy here, it was a game that felt like it was a matter of time.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: They finally put it together, a little bit of a cloud hit, a lot of bit of a cloud hangs over the whole thing, because everyone
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: you know, you know, I'd like to say you're holding your breath, but I think everyone's been conditioned now.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: You just go, well, if Kyle Shannon says that Michael Williams might have an ACL based on his reaction, we'll just assume that he has one and be shocked and surprised if he doesn't but we'll have to wait and find out until Monday.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: I was not in New York for this game, did I call this game?
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: I will not be back calling neither games on radio until December.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: and looking forward to that.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: But there's a lot to talk about.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like right now I'm watching chiefs and and bills.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: Are they elite?
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: Who's elite?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: Is anybody elite?
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: That to me is part of the weird part of the NFL.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then I'll get to why there's nobody like the Niners in a second.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about this, this giant scheme as well.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: But there's nobody quite like them in the sense that there's three categories of teams in the league.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: There's the teams with a positive point differential or a 19 or better, almost all the winning teams fit in that category.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: The category number two is teams with a negative point differential about a little more than half of the league fits into that category, and then there's two other teams that are not in those two categories.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: And those two teams are the Niners and the Steelers.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: The Steelers have a point differential of zero, and the 40 matters have a point differential of plus six.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I looked that up after I kind of, I watched the game,
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: where you know that I lead, but you also know they're good, and you know they're definitely not good, and they're certainly not bad.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: And today they beat a team that's not good, the way you're supposed to beat a team that's not good.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: To be the final score was plus 10.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: The reality was probably more like a plus 13 game.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't really matter.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: It was on the road.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: It scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, they don't stop the run.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're not, that's their schedule.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: They don't play the bills.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: They don't play the chiefs.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: Who are the good teams on their schedule?
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Outside of their division.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: Because the Rams look good.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: Seattle, I think the tires are better than,
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you know, who's Carolina right now are five and four, yeah, with a minus 35 point differential and a 31 point loss to the bills and a 27 point loss to the paths on their resume and today they beat the Packers where they're quarterback went 11 to 20.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, well, you know, um, they, uh, what's the other one?
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: There's another one I didn't highlight here.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, oh, Indy, Indy, everyone was hit on Indy, still good team, but elite?
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: No, unbeatable.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: No, that'll be a my will be there for that one.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: That's Monday night football.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: They can run the ball, Jonathan Taylor, best back in the league.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: People are saying, but Daniel Jones to me, it's, it's really good.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's he got fixed by Kevin O'Connell, just like, you know, Sam D'Ardle didn't get fixed and I just kind of did that, but I think Kevin O'Connell
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: But do you think the top teams by record in the AFC right now, the Colts, the Patriots, the Broncos, you think one of those teams is one of the Super Bowl?
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't not have an Super Bowl conversation with the 49ers right now.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying, there's six and three if they go four and four of the rest of the way, they're almost a playoff walk.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: 10 and seven last year didn't guarantee you the playoffs.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, the Seahawks got left out of the NFC playoffs at 10 and seven.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, they were the only 10 and 7 non-devisional winner, because Campal went 10 and 7 won the division.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: The Rams went 10 and 7 won the West, both those teams meant the playoffs.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: Seattle went 10 and 7 got left out.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: Wild card teams, uh, you know, Minnesota 1114, Detroit 1115.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's not happening this year.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: Washington went 12 and 5.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: And Green Bay went 11 and 6.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think this year, 10 and 7 gets you in.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: And 10 and 7 really get you in.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: If you go for and for and to meet you beat Seattle, you beat Seattle, that one is huge.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: If you got ten wins and you beat Seattle as one of those four that remains massive.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: If you go ten and seven and
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: one or two of those wins involves Chicago.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I do think, I was watching the end of that crazy end of that Bengals Bears game today.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you're rooting against Chicago.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Chicago's five, Chicago's now what, five and three.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: Had the run, you're pulled up.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: Chicago's now five and three, not just six and three.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: You win four games in one of those wins is Carolina.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: Like to me, if you beat Seattle, Chicago, Carolina,
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: is three of those four wins, lock in the playoffs.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: Because those are the only other teams like Chicago right now is eighth, Carolina right now is ninth, maybe Minnesota plays better than quarterback's back.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: But that's kinda it.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: So this team is pointed straight at the playoffs after they beat this game, after they won this game in New York today.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: They are pointed straight at the playoffs.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: uh, even with, you know, impending, holding our breath bad news on my cow Williams, they found like they got, they caught their wind a little bit on defists.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: Now they played the giants.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is their schedule.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: This is part of the deal.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, the Rams this week is going to be, we're in November now.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: There, we're halfway through three weeks, nine weeks.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: We know who this team is now.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know exactly who's going to be available every week.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: We have a growing list of people aren't available every week.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: But we basically know what is this team?
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: Nine games in, good or bad, they are squeezing every ounce of what they got out of their defense thanks to Robert Salah.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: And thanks to the fact that
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: The injuries gave way to more responsibility for young players who play their ass off, like Tatum Bethune, what do you have?
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: 19 tackles against the Giants, 16 tackles against the Giants.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: You know, 16, somebody's got to lead the team in tackles.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: And you'd rather your line-backer than your safety have 16 of them, but he flyin' around.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I thought that first touched down by the Giants, didn't love.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: I thought, down below the norl, like you're paid.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: You say I'm a number one corner.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: young guys around looking up got to make that tackle don't give up on that play, but I thought he came back and played a really physical game up in stout flying around physical game.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: I like it was stuff a flying around physical game or an art o green physical game.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: So like they're they've got a type.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: This is not new information.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: They've got a type.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: They've hit on that type.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, you know, these guys scratch the claw and fighting in the secondary.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: And they're they found enough, you know, I think
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't extremely bullish on Jackson dark coming out of college.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's a pretty good, but they, they're maniacs with how they run them.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: And the Niners, that was a bad call on the Tatum Thune on sportsmen like, you know, this game doesn't to me deserve a ton of breakdown, but there is some stuff, some, some things to get to.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, like, if you're the team, I kind of thought you were, I think a lot of a thought you were, you're not great, but you're not bad.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: You're definitely good.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not exactly clear how many teams are in whatever category a good this is, but to me, they're closer to the teams with bigger point differentials, positive point differentials, than they are to the negative ones, right?
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, here are your biggest point
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: Niners are six, plus six, or Seattle 51 points, but I don't think so.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: Green Bay 40, Philly 23, Tampa 19.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, here's the number of teams with the positive point differential in the NFC.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: Tampa, Green Bay, Seattle, the Rams, Detroit.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: That's five, plus the nine or six.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: There's six teams with a positive point differential around the midway point of the season in the NFC.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: not great.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Arizona is at minus one.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: So they're close.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: Minnesota is at minus four.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: So they're close.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: Dallas is at minus four.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: So they're close.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think San Francisco is better than all three of those teams.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, they are, it's not that they're on the playoff path to me they are a playoff team.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: This is a playoff team.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, what if, you know, boring health?
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: No, there's been no health.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: Although I didn't say last week, you know, or two weeks ago.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: Stop feeling unlucky for everything that goes wrong.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: When you've got a backup quarterback, winning as many games as Mac Jones is won.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: That's pretty lucky to have Mac Jones.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: Can't believe, somebody's to answer this question.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: Why did he sign a two-year contract?
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: Do we have that information?
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: Are we sure there's a part of it, it can't actually be a two-year contract, right?
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's one of those like baseball or NBA optouts?
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: So in that standpoint, they're really looking.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I may they got unlucky with the Michael Williams injury.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: And it just feels like everything is bad and everything is wrong.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: And it's actually not the case, even though it feels that way.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: Cause your baseline is like good stuff.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: And then everything bad that happens, you take you down a notch, but they've caught some breaks, believe it or not.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: And the biggest one is this Mac Jones character.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: So what else?
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: Well, like, to me another example of the day if some have talked about all year, Christian McCaffrey, 3.8 yards per carry.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: Don't love that in a bubble.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: But as I've been saying, since the Rams game, like this guy's 3.1, 3.4, 3.8 yards per carry.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: Some of the greatest sub-4 yards per carry.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: This is the greatest, no research, but I'll say this.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: This is the greatest sub-4 yard per carry season I've witnessed from a running back.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: I still had to find a way to get 166 yards, and of course, he had the five catches for 67, a touchdown receiving a touchdown running, a 16-yard carry, Brad Robbins had an 18-yard carry, the Giants are not good.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, even by the Niners schedule standard, the Giants are not good, but this was a road game.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: Again, you know, they're beat up to it's a road game, you know?
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just, this is your schedule.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: And you got to take advantage of it.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think they were, like I said, they were bound to have a game like this.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: You know, one thing that sucks about the NFL is you just can't, you can't sub-guides out like you can't other sports.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: Like college.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, college football is really the one, right?
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: Were you like, we're beating somebody by 17, there's no starting, there's plenty of players.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: There's no starters left.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: The 90 guys are in uniform today.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: That's not the case in NFL.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, for Michael, there's no good time for Michael Williams to get hurt at the end of the game in like a basically a non-contact.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: That's what really scares you.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: you wonder a stronger player's association with with met life have to put in grass if this was major league baseball but they stand for this with they say we're never planned another game on this field if that guy towards ACL certainly the Niners it really sucks and you know it it doesn't suck any more than Nick Boses injury or Fred Warner's injury like they all suck but it
- 14:46[SPEAKER_00]: It sucks a little differently from the standpoint of for a young player who needs wraps and is developing and you just, there was no way I don't think if he was playing even at the ratings playing and I don't what he have a sack two sacks, you know, I thought before the year if he finished like six and a half to be an incredible year that was not about to happen.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: you know, part of that was playing alongside Bosa, um, you thought would create some of that obviously that didn't happen.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't going to happen from the rest of this year, but still just playing at the radio was playing and just playing and playing and playing was a big deal for him.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, then spending it off season, just building on.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: on everything.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, you kind of feel like you're hoping against hope at this point.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: You just, I thought watching on TV, Kevin Harland, the Mac Jones like, exasperation, I roll is, you know, it's like it's such a great his personality.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: You just see it so clearly.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's so great.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_00]: And that's how you feel.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: You're not in disbelief.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's the thing is you're not in disbelief.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: because every play that happens, you're holding your breath going like, is this the place something goes wrong?
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: Is this this is this the someone's going to be a human sacrifice today?
- 15:56[SPEAKER_00]: Who's it going to be?
- 15:56[SPEAKER_00]: Hope it's not.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'll make your list.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_00]: But.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_00]: Pass rush was better.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: password was better.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, again, Jackson Dark is Jackson, Tart is reckless.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I think they're crazy for running into the way they run him, but just trying to, you know, you're trying to save job when a game.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: But the password was better today, Cleveland Ferrell, like Kyle Lucky that he just became available.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_00]: Is he special?
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: No, but he's a pro that you know that knows you.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know, another a couple other bright lights today.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: Joanne Jennings, we're looking healthier.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we talked last week about is you're going to get moved.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_00]: Can you move?
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I don't think you can at this point.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you don't really know, you think, well, you know, Jordan Watkins, which was another bright light, Jordan's catch was really impressive, great bounce back for him after, you know, we know what this is like.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_00]: This was the issue, kind of with Danny Gray.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of young receivers, Jacob Cowen, you don't get many opportunities.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_00]: You better make the most of that one target you get today.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: You go in there on a run play.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna block, Jordan Watkins had a really good block today
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: And he had a, you know, he had that drop on a ball go through his hands the other day.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: You only get to get one or two of these, a great, I mean, really a great catch today.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: It was a second and 12.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_00]: It was a 19-yard catch.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: It was a big time NFL, you know, it's great to get schemeed open by Kyle Shanahan and run free and make a catch.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's awesome, but that's not what that was.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: That was an ant, that was a dbo catch.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: That was an IU catch.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_00]: There was a piercill catch, that was a Jannings catch.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: It was a really physical tough catch.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_00]: And so you look at him going, you know what?
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he can bring something here.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: But you don't know when piercill's coming back.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know when I used coming back.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: I got a reassess the way we were talking about it earlier in the week.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_00]: Now that Joanne Jannings is looking a little healthier, again, he's your best receiver.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_00]: outside like receiver position guy, outside of Kittle and and and McAfrey.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_00]: Second week in a row, right?
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's your best receiver and now he's looking better and he wasn't pressing and he was having fun and I don't think he moved him because I mean now you're six and six and three like you you know you try to win games and
- 18:34[SPEAKER_00]: like if you get someone offers you a no one's offering you something I don't think are you know I don't think you can get off of a fourth which really would make your thing like would make me think I'd be like kind of kind of but is your best receiver on a team that needs him at four for forty one a touchdown that I um you know if you had pierce all and if you had I you different story but you don't have them you have them maybe some day soon
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you're a week away from being a week away, but we've seen that story before.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_00]: So I think you got to keep them, which is fine, like good, if he's playing like this, you wanna keep him.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_00]: Eddie Penaire, I don't, why was he around and available for the 49ers to go from Jake Moody,
- 19:28[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, in this guy, he's making huge kicks.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: The thing about it was, well, you know, you sign of Eddie, he's got a, one of the great percentages, but he doesn't make long kicks, Paniero de Nero, Eddie, money, but he does make long kicks.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't make, he, not God, what he has a mystic kick.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: It does incredible.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: It is unbelievable.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's the lesson, like you say it all the time, well, okay, who could you get the
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: And you never, you know, if someone starts going down the list, and you go, well, if he's better, why is he available?
- 20:04[SPEAKER_00]: At kicker, there's just so few jobs and guys hold on the jobs for so long.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you make you ask a bunch of questions about what could have been.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_00]: What could have been in other years, but you got him now.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: And you wouldn't be six and three without him.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: You wouldn't be six and three without him.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: 54 on the road drilled at 33.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: Kenomis is the kick, which was a huge moment, huge moment after the interception for Kenomis, the kick in the first half.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: I was a little surprised now.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think Dave Ol was right out in hindsight.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I was a little surprised that they kicked the field goal at the end of the third quarter, because I'm looking at it going.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_00]: How many possessions are really left?
- 20:48[SPEAKER_00]: You've got to score touchdowns.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: Getting within TAN is not good enough.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_00]: And then both teams scored two touchdowns of piece in the fourth quarter, which would also be the argument of like, don't kick the field goal.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: Either it's going to be a game with no possession.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_00]: So it's going to be touchdowns and the field goal's not going to be good enough.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I didn't think in, I don't even know I was about to score two touchdowns.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_00]: I just thought there weren't going to be
- 21:12[SPEAKER_00]: enough possessions to get back in that game and and I thought they helped the Niners out by kicking that field goal.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_00]: The other third quarter to make it 20 to 10.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: Now you could argue if you don't kick it, you go for it.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_00]: You fail.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's 20 to seven.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's the game kind of over maybe, but I thought you should have gone for it.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_00]: I saw it.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: There was a stat from Josh do bow.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_00]: In the first it was the first time that Kyle Shanahan had, what was this that the first time Kyle Shanahan had gone forward fourth down in his own territory in the first half of a game ever something like that let's get this that right the fourth down conversion on the first drive for the 40 minutes mark the first time that I just attempted to fourth down in the first quarter in their own territory nine seasons under Kyle Shanahan that doesn't feel right I thought they did it against the ramps but maybe I miss.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_00]: remembering that.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_00]: Do bad doesn't usually get it wrong and listen to this and tell me that no guy, you're wrong.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_00]: So, fine.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_00]: You know, by the way, speaking of the best teams of league New England, seven and two, and I know I am pro Drake may.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_00]: I also know from my experience watching football, which many of you have also.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_00]: that the list of quarterbacks who look like they can become the guy and the list of quarterbacks that become the guy are two very different things.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_00]: And the list of quarterbacks that become the guy is any favorite short list.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: And then every guy that looks like he can become the guy doesn't become the guy.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I'm pro- Drake May, fan of Drake May.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a chance.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_00]: And the way he's playing right now in year two, I would be fired up if you were my quarterback.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_00]: Just as I would have been fired up last year, if Jane Daniels were my quarterback.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_00]: But I said it multiple times last year and I felt this way and I still feel this way doing it once is different than doing it for your career.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: and injuries happen and coordinators change and defenses adjust and all that stuff.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, the way you handle a quarterback is the way they're handling Drake Mac.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's really good.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_00]: And also, I think one of the great red flags in quarterbacking right now is a really low-completion percentage
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: duh, and an exceptionally weirdly high completion percentage.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_00]: Right now Drake may is completing 75% of his passes.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: That's awesome.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's got 15 touchdowns.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's as many as he had last year's got three interceptions.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: Incredible.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_00]: 75% is not a real completion percentage.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I still haven't found the exact right way to fully articulate what I mean,
- 24:19[SPEAKER_00]: in a way that doesn't have holes in it because he's been playing NFL football, he's complete 75% of his passes.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_00]: But I think like part of what I mean is 75% looks so incredible that you think that it's never been done before.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's never been sustained by a quarterback who can really be
- 24:41[SPEAKER_00]: like an MVP quarterback.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: Now, if you said, hey, I'm going to give you a quarterback, he's going to score at this rate.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to have 75% completion percentage.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to have 60 touchdowns and six picks.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, give me that forever.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_00]: So I realize there's holes in this, but I think if we look historically, if you're a 75% guy, it just means you're not really
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: attempting the types of passes that over time over the course of five, six, seven, you'll have to attempt to become like a true, true dude, you know, I think to a, you know, I did to have like a 72% year or something like that.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just not, you see it in college a lot.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I always am very aware in college that it's just, yeah, 273% in 2024.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's just not, that's incredible.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_00]: And it's really good, but it's too high.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_00]: And it's indicative of the types of passes your attempting.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: Being, and I'm gonna go like air quotes here, but actually kind of mean it too easy.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_00]: Let's watch it play out.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think you would rather have a guy complete in 75% than 56 or 61.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_00]: So it's only good stuff.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: But it's why I'm not joining the Crown Drake May party because it's just, that's not a real number.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's like a guy hidden for 20.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's like cool, but it's just not a sustainable
- 26:22[SPEAKER_00]: Another guy who I like, another guy who had a abnormally high completion percentage in college, he is he was 66% last year, 62% this year, that to me means that's a real number.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_00]: His yards per attempt, 6.3 last year, they're 6.7.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I need to do some further investigation.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'm kind of talking on the fly here, but I do stand by the original point.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's proven out.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think it will
- 26:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and also, it can't be like that forever.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: It just doesn't work that way.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_00]: So that's part of why when you look at, when we go back to the original point, like who are the elite teams, I don't know how to get to the teams that are at the top of the FC, well, put it this way.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think the teams at the top of the FC are one of the super bowlers here.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_00]: And when you just go FC records, and I know this,
- 27:22[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think I've ever quite watched a team like the 2025.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_00]: How lucky are we to be witnessing?
- 27:27[SPEAKER_00]: So why I felt watching Game 7 of the World Series on Saturday night from a quote from a graduate hotel bar, the bunch of the people from the TV crew in Minneapolis.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like I'm rooting very hard against the Dodgers.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_00]: And also, I feel lucky to have watched that series and watched that game.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I appreciate the entertainment that the Dodgers and the J's provided.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_00]: just you got to respect it.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: Now we could have a bigger debate about salary capital all that, but as much as I hate to say it, I was just I appreciated the entertainment.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: I was thoroughly into that.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_00]: I was so aware that I was watching something you don't it doesn't usually play out like that.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_00]: And whatever that's not our team is and there's so many indicators right that they're not a Super Bowl contender.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_00]: Can they even win a playoff game is is the question, but the fact that this
- 28:21[SPEAKER_00]: a playoff team, squarely positioned to be when you just look at them, you look at their schedule, you look at the rest of the NFC, a playoff team.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_00]: I've never quite seen anything like this and you know, it's, I said it a few weeks ago, going into one of the broadcast, how much can one team take?
- 28:43[SPEAKER_00]: They're trying to answer that question.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_00]: How many gut punches can one team take?
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll find out Monday or Tuesday,
- 28:49[SPEAKER_00]: You think Monday, how much can one team take when it comes to my call?
- 28:55[SPEAKER_00]: We have not found this team's limit yet.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think we're gonna emotionally.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know, eventually, maybe you run out of players and the trade deadlines coming up on Tuesday, and then by the way, the first CFP rankings come out on Tuesday.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think we're going to find their limit emotionally.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_00]: Every time you lose Fred Warner Nick Bosa and you come back playing as hard as these dudes play, emotionally, you can't be broken.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_00]: So that's pretty awesome.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: All right, big week.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_00]: Talk to you all soon.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_00]: Later.
