- 0:02Distraction is actually a symptom of another
- 0:04characteristic that of dispersion of the Consciousness.
- 0:10If we take the time to observe our own sense of awareness, we
- 0:14find that it seems to be primarily on the surface of our
- 0:18being receiving sense, Impressions, reacting to people
- 0:23things, events and circumstances, and otherwise
- 0:27busying itself, with all the details of The external life
- 0:32from time to time. We may experience a centered in
- 0:35drawn state of awareness, where we feel ourselves to be
- 0:39self-contained so to speak and thus at peace.
- 0:44We may also meet people from time to time who seem to have a
- 0:48powerful presence without, however, any overt action on
- 0:52their part. We feel the concentrated nature
- 0:56of their being This is different from those who actively assert
- 1:01their power and situations and who try to control or overwhelm
- 1:05others through active intervention in the
- 1:07relationship. On the contrary those who are
- 1:11simply present with a powerful sense of a Consciousness that is
- 1:16alert gathered and grounded, exert a subtle influence on
- 1:22their surroundings without trying Dr. Dalal observes, quote
- 1:28associated with distraction is another characteristic of the
- 1:32normal State of Consciousness. Alluded to, in the passage, just
- 1:36quoted above namely dispersion. In the normal State
- 1:41Consciousness is scattered. So to speak in The Superficial
- 1:45parts and movements of the being physical vital, and mental, As
- 1:50the mother observes quote, one throws oneself out all the time
- 1:55all the time, when lives as it were outside oneself in such a
- 1:59superficial Sensation that it is almost as though, one were
- 2:04outside oneself. As soon as one wants even to
- 2:08observe oneself a little control oneself, a little simply know
- 2:13what is happening. When is always obliged to draw
- 2:17back or pull towards oneself. To pull inward something, which
- 2:21is constantly like that on the surface.
- 2:26And it is this surface thing which meets all external
- 2:29contacts puts you in touch with similar vibrations coming from
- 2:33others. That happens almost outside you.
- 2:38That is the constant dispersal of the ordinary Consciousness
- 2:42and quote Doctrine Dalal concludes quote, the dispersed
- 2:48nature of the normally pervading Consciousness stands in sharp
- 2:51contrast to the in gathered and collected nature.
