The Dubins Exit Mount Sinai as Old Epstein Questions Resurface (Part 1) (10/27/26) · Beyond The Horizon

Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. For years, Glenn and Eva Dubin managed to
• 0:07
Speaker 1: occupy one of the strangest positions in the Jeffrey Epstein story.
• 0:11
Speaker 1: Close enough to matter, connected enough to raise serious questions,
• 0:16
Speaker 1: but somehow never subjected to the kind of sustained public
• 0:19
Speaker 1: scrutiny that followed so many others in Epstein's orbit. Their
• 0:24
Speaker 1: names would surface, disappear, surface again, and then drift back
• 0:28
Speaker 1: into the move somewhere else. That was always hard to understand,
• 0:33
Speaker 1: considering just how long their relationship with Epstein lasted and
• 0:36
Speaker 1: how many different parts of his world their names touched. Now,
• 0:40
Speaker 1: the Dubins are back in the news. That old question
• 0:43
Speaker 1: is worth asking once again. How did two people this
• 0:47
Speaker 1: close to Jeffrey Epstein manage to remain comparatively untouched by
• 0:51
Speaker 1: the fallout for so long? We're not talking about a
• 0:55
Speaker 1: passing acquaintance here, folks. This was not a couple whose
• 0:59
Speaker 1: name showed up on the guest list once or twice.
• 1:02
Speaker 1: The Dubins occupied a much more significant place in Epstein's world.
• 1:07
Speaker 1: And the deeper you dig into the history, the harder
• 1:09
Speaker 1: it becomes to understand why their relationship was so often
• 1:12
Speaker 1: treated like a footnote. There were personal connections, financial connections,
• 1:17
Speaker 1: institutional connections, and years of continued proximity that stretched across
• 1:21
Speaker 1: some of the most important periods in Epstein's life. Yet
• 1:25
Speaker 1: somehow when the public conversation turned to the people surrounding Epstein,
• 1:30
Speaker 1: Glenn and Eva Dubin rarely became the main event. That's
• 1:33
Speaker 1: beginning to change. Their names are back in the headlines.
• 1:37
Speaker 1: Old questions are being dragged back into the light. And
• 1:40
Speaker 1: the relationships that once escaped serious examination are getting another look.
• 1:46
Speaker 1: And when that happens in the Epstein story, it's always
• 1:48
Speaker 1: going to be worth going back to the beginning. Because
• 1:51
Speaker 1: the context is usually far more important than whatever single
• 1:55
Speaker 1: headline happens to be circling on a given day. The
• 1:58
Speaker 1: Dubins did not suddenly become relevant because their names appeared
• 2:01
Speaker 1: in the news again. They were always relevant. The difference
• 2:05
Speaker 1: now is that more people are finally starting to pay attention.
• 2:08
Speaker 1: So before we get into what happened most recently, we
• 2:11
Speaker 1: need to rewind the tape and take another look at
• 2:13
Speaker 1: exactly who Glenn and even Dubin were in Jeffrey Epstein's world,
• 2:18
Speaker 1: how far back that relationship went, and why their names
• 2:21
Speaker 1: have continued to resurface whenever the curtain gets pulled back
• 2:24
Speaker 1: a little bit further. Because once you start following the timeline...
• 2:28
Speaker 1: one thing becomes very clear. These folks were a lot
• 2:31
Speaker 1: closer than they ever let on. And after years of
• 2:34
Speaker 1: flying under the radar, that relationship is finally getting another look.
• 2:39
Speaker 1: The Glenn and Eva Dubin story is not a sidebar
• 2:41
Speaker 1: to Jeffrey Epstein. It's one of the clearest examples of
• 2:44
Speaker 1: how Epstein survived inside elite society after everyone around them
• 2:48
Speaker 1: had enough information to know better. For years, the Dubins
• 2:52
Speaker 1: were treated as if they occupied the outer rim of
• 2:54
Speaker 1: the scandal. even though the public record placed him inside
• 2:57
Speaker 1: Epstein's social circle, financial world, family life, and institutional network.
• 3:03
Speaker 1: Eva Anderson Dubin had once dated Epstein, later married Glenn Dubin,
• 3:07
Speaker 1: and still kept Epstein close enough that he remained a
• 3:10
Speaker 1: fixture around the family long after that earlier romance ended.
• 3:15
Speaker 1: Glenn Dubin did not simply inherit his wife's old acquaintance,
• 3:19
Speaker 1: he developed his own consequential relationship with Epstein through money, investing, introductions,
• 3:25
Speaker 1: and one of the biggest deals of his career. Epstein
• 3:28
Speaker 1: invested millions with Highbridge Capital Management, the hedge fund Glenn
• 3:32
Speaker 1: Dubin co-founded, and later played a role in connecting Dubin
• 3:36
Speaker 1: with JPMorgan executive Jess Staley. That connection helped lay the
• 3:40
Speaker 1: groundwork for JPMorgan to acquire a controlling stake in Highbridge,
• 3:46
Speaker 1: a transaction valued at more than $ 1 billion and enormously
• 3:50
Speaker 1: lucrative for Dubin and his partner. Epstein's company collected $ 15
• 3:54
Speaker 1: million in an advisory fee from the Highbridge side of
• 3:58
Speaker 1: that deal, an extraordinary payday that demonstrated just how financially
• 4:02
Speaker 1: useful Epstein could be to people operating at the highest
• 4:06
Speaker 1: levels of Wall Street. Meanwhile, Virginia Roberts would later identify
• 4:11
Speaker 1: Glenn Dubin, under oath, as one of the powerful men
• 4:14
Speaker 1: to whom she said that Epstein and Glenn Maxwell directed
• 4:17
Speaker 1: her to have sex with when she was a teenager.
• 4:21
Speaker 1: Those facts right there alone should have put the Dubins
• 4:24
Speaker 1: under the microscope years ago. Instead, they spent most of
• 4:28
Speaker 1: the Epstein era enjoying the protective haze that so often
• 4:31
Speaker 1: surrounded wealthy people whose names appeared, in deeply uncomfortable places. Now,
• 4:38
Speaker 1: the relationship began long before Epstein became synonymous with sexual exploitation,
• 4:43
Speaker 1: but that early history only makes the later decisions harder
• 4:46
Speaker 1: to excuse. Eva had known Epstein since the 80s, and
• 4:50
Speaker 1: their relationship was close enough that she married Glenn in 1994,
• 4:54
Speaker 1: Epstein remained deeply embedded in the family's orbit. He was
• 4:58
Speaker 1: described as a close family friend and as godfather figure
• 5:02
Speaker 1: to the Dubin children, language that captures the level of
• 5:05
Speaker 1: intimacy far beyond the casual social contacts so many Epstein
• 5:09
Speaker 1: associates later tried to emphasize. Epstein wasn't somebody the Dubins
• 5:14
Speaker 1: occasionally bumped into at some charity dinner. He was somebody
• 5:18
Speaker 1: who was welcomed into their private world. He knew their children,
• 5:22
Speaker 1: moved through their homes, traveled in overlapping circles, and remained
• 5:26
Speaker 1: important enough to Eva that later she would personally vouch
• 5:29
Speaker 1: for him to the authorities. Now, that history demolishes any
• 5:33
Speaker 1: attempt to shrink the relationship into one more example of
• 5:37
Speaker 1: Manhattan billionaires crossing paths. The Dubins knew Epstein over decades
• 5:42
Speaker 1: and maintained a connection through different phases of his life,
• 5:45
Speaker 1: including the phase after his criminal conduct had become a
• 5:48
Speaker 1: matter of public record. The longevity of the association is
• 5:53
Speaker 1: precisely why the lack of sustained scrutiny seems so glaring.
• 5:58
Speaker 1: If investigators, institutions, and the press were serious about mapping
• 6:02
Speaker 1: the people who helped Epstein remain socially viable, the Dubins
• 6:06
Speaker 1: belong near the top of the list. Glenn Dubin's financial
• 6:10
Speaker 1: relationship with Epstein is where the story becomes even more
• 6:13
Speaker 1: difficult to move away from mere friendship. Dubin and Henry
• 6:18
Speaker 1: Swiecka built Highbridge Capital into a hedge fund powerhouse, and
• 6:22
Speaker 1: Epstein became an investor in that business years before Highbridge
• 6:25
Speaker 1: was sold to J.P. Morgan. Public records and litigation later
• 6:29
Speaker 1: described Epstein as having millions of dollars invested with Highbridge,
• 6:34
Speaker 1: placing him financially inside an enterprise that would make Dubin
• 6:38
Speaker 1: extraordinarily wealthy. Epstein wasn't simply admiring Dubin's success from across
• 6:44
Speaker 1: a dinner table. His money was in the fund. That
• 6:47
Speaker 1: gave the relationship an entirely different dimension because Epstein now
• 6:51
Speaker 1: had direct financial interest in an operation run by one
• 6:54
Speaker 1: of his closest wealthy friends. The connection also gave Epstein
• 6:59
Speaker 1: another credential in the elite financial world, where access to
• 7:02
Speaker 1: people such as Dubin helped him present himself as a
• 7:05
Speaker 1: serious financier rather than a man whose fortune was notoriously
• 7:09
Speaker 1: difficult to explain. Highbridge, in turn, benefited from the kind
• 7:14
Speaker 1: of access Epstein specialized in providing. The Epstein model was
• 7:18
Speaker 1: rarely about producing a conventional product or running a transparent business.
• 7:23
Speaker 1: It was about knowing the right people, making introductions, and
• 7:26
Speaker 1: positioning himself between pools of money and people who wanted
• 7:30
Speaker 1: something from one another. Glenn Dubin was one of the
• 7:33
Speaker 1: clearest demonstrations that this model could generate enormous value. The
• 7:38
Speaker 1: closer one looks at Highbridge, the less credible it becomes
• 7:41
Speaker 1: to describe Epstein as some socially inconvenient hanger-on in the
• 7:45
Speaker 1: Dubin story. And the defining financial episode came in 2004
• 7:50
Speaker 1: when Epstein helped connect Glenn Dubin with Jess Staley at J.P. Morgan.
• 7:53
Speaker 1: That introduction helped set the stage for J.P. Morgan's purchase
• 7:57
Speaker 1: of a controlling stake in Highbridge, a deal that put
• 7:59
Speaker 1: a valuation of more than $ 1 billion on the hedge fund.
• 8:04
Speaker 1: For Dubin and Swieka, the transaction was a financial triumph
• 8:08
Speaker 1: that transformed years of hedge fund success into generational wealth.
• 8:13
Speaker 1: For Staley, it became one of the transactions associated with
• 8:16
Speaker 1: his rise inside J.P. Morgan. For Epstein, it produced a
• 8:20
Speaker 1: remarkable $ 15 million advisory payment from Highbridge, side of the deal.
• 8:25
Speaker 1: That fee was not pocket change tossed to a social
• 8:27
Speaker 1: connector for making a phone call. It was the kind
• 8:31
Speaker 1: of compensation paid when people involved believed the intermediary had
• 8:35
Speaker 1: enormous value. The Highbridge transaction, therefore, sits at the intersection
• 8:40
Speaker 1: of the three names of that would later loom large
• 8:42
Speaker 1: in Epstein's banking story, Epstein, Dubin, and Staley. It also
• 8:48
Speaker 1: exposes how Epstein's usefulness to the financial elite could reinforce
• 8:52
Speaker 1: his status long before his name became radioactive. When the
• 8:56
Speaker 1: history of Epstein at J.P. Morgan is discussed without placing
• 8:59
Speaker 1: Glenn Dubin and the Highbridge deal near the center, an
• 9:01
Speaker 1: essential part of the story disappears. Now that brings us
• 9:05
Speaker 1: to the part at which ignorance became much harder to invoke.
• 9:09
Speaker 1: Epstein's 2008 conviction in Florida. By then, all allegations surrounding
• 9:14
Speaker 1: Epstein had burst out of private gossip and into police files,
• 9:18
Speaker 1: court proceedings, and national reporting. He pleaded guilty to state
• 9:21
Speaker 1: charges that included procuring a person under 18 for prostitution
• 9:26
Speaker 1: and became a registered sex offender. For anyone still associating
• 9:30
Speaker 1: with him after that point, the moral and practical calculus
• 9:35
Speaker 1: had changed completely. The question was no longer whether Epstein's
• 9:38
Speaker 1: friends had heard rumors about him. The question was what
• 9:41
Speaker 1: they chose to do after a criminal case involving a
• 9:44
Speaker 1: minor had become an established fact. Eva Anderson Dubin answered
• 9:49
Speaker 1: the question in spectacular fashion in 2009 when she wrote
• 9:53
Speaker 1: to Epstein's probation officer about her family's willingness to continue
• 9:57
Speaker 1: seeing him. She explicitly acknowledged that Epstein was a registered
• 10:01
Speaker 1: sex offender and that he had pleaded guilty to soliciting
• 10:04
Speaker 1: prostitution and procuring a minor for prostitution. Then, she said,
• 10:10
Speaker 1: she was 100% comfortable with Epstein being around her three
• 10:14
Speaker 1: minor children. That sentence alone should have haunted every later
• 10:17
Speaker 1: attempt to portray the Dubins as people who simply did
• 10:20
Speaker 1: not understand what kind of man they were dealing with.
• 10:25
Speaker 1: And in my humble opinion, the 2009 letter is one
• 10:28
Speaker 1: of the most devastating documents in the entire Dubin chronology
• 10:32
Speaker 1: because it eliminates the comforting fiction that the family maintained
• 10:35
Speaker 1: contact in a fog of ignorance. Eva knew what Epstein's
• 10:40
Speaker 1: legal status was and knew the nature of the conviction
• 10:43
Speaker 1: she was discussing. She nevertheless put her own credibility behind
• 10:46
Speaker 1: the proposition that he was safe around her children. The
• 10:50
Speaker 1: Dubins then reportedly spent Thanksgiving with Epstein after his release
• 10:54
Speaker 1: from jail, helping return him to precisely the kind of
• 10:57
Speaker 1: elite social environment from which his criminal case should have
• 11:01
Speaker 1: excluded him. And this, of course, was part of the
• 11:04
Speaker 1: normalization process. A registered sex offender who had pleaded guilty
• 11:08
Speaker 1: in a case involving a minor was being welcomed back
• 11:10
Speaker 1: into the homes and family circles of people with enormous
• 11:13
Speaker 1: wealth and social standing. That's how reputational wandering works in
• 11:18
Speaker 1: the real world. Not through press releases, but through respected
• 11:21
Speaker 1: people behaving as if continued association is perfectly acceptable. Every
• 11:27
Speaker 1: dinner invitation, family gathering, introduction, and friendly exchange told the
• 11:32
Speaker 1: surrounding world that Epstein had not truly been cast out.
• 11:36
Speaker 1: The Dubins were part of the social machinery that made
• 11:39
Speaker 1: his rehabilitation among the powerful possible. Alright folks, we're going
• 11:43
Speaker 1: to wrap up this first episode right here, and in
• 11:45
Speaker 1: the next episode, we're going to pick up where we
• 11:47
Speaker 1: left off. All the information that goes with this episode
