- 0:01Speaker 1: This is that Ben and Nashley I Almost Famous Podcast
- 0:05Speaker 1: Bachelor Countdown.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Hey, guys, welcome to the Almost Famous Podcast. We are
- 0:10Speaker 2: continuing our Bachelor countdown. We're interviewing a whole bunch of
- 0:14Speaker 2: bachelors up until the premiere of Grant's season.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Today we have mister Bob Guiney.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Today's interview is one that makes me very happy. Now,
- 0:23Speaker 1: all of them have made me very happy. It's always
- 0:25Speaker 1: good to catch up with old friends, people who've lived
- 0:29Speaker 1: in similar places you, people that can relate with you.
- 0:31Speaker 1: But this one makes me extra happy because I love
- 0:32Speaker 1: this man very much and I know Ashley does as well.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Bob Guiney, Welcome to the Almost Famous Podcast.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Thanks guys, I love you both very much too. I'm
- 0:40Speaker 4: really happy to be here.
- 0:42Speaker 5: Bob.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Sometimes I still get starstruck by you because you are
- 0:46Speaker 2: you are like the original bachelor that people remember.
- 0:49Speaker 3: You're the first bachelor that people remember.
- 0:51Speaker 2: And thank you for being part of our Bachelor series
- 0:54Speaker 2: leading up to the premiere of Grant season. You are
- 0:57Speaker 2: amongst a number of bachelors that we are revisiting with.
- 1:02Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 1:03Speaker 4: No, it's so sweet of you to say, Ashley, because
- 1:05Speaker 4: you're like a historian of this whole thing. I love you,
- 1:07Speaker 4: you know everything.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Our resident expert is what I call it.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Oh, your season, I'm gonna be honest, don't.
- 1:12Speaker 5: Know your well, you were probably still in diapers.
- 1:15Speaker 2: I was a freshman in high school when your season
- 1:18Speaker 2: was on.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Your season was two thousand and three.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I was right right after Trista's season, and
- 1:23Speaker 4: yeah it was.
- 1:24Speaker 5: A long time ago for you, so sure.
- 1:28Speaker 2: And my mom was a little low brow on the
- 1:31Speaker 2: Bachelor franchise at that point, So sometimes I would sneak
- 1:34Speaker 2: it in my room, just like have an episode on
- 1:36Speaker 2: the background on my little Purple TV.
- 1:39Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, I love it.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I love Isn't it weird? I was in eighth grade
- 1:43Speaker 1: when Bob was the Bachelor.
- 1:45Speaker 5: Isn't that crazy? Yeah?
- 1:46Speaker 4: And it's so strange because I feel like, I mean, Ben,
- 1:50Speaker 4: I feel like you're one of my favorite human beings
- 1:52Speaker 4: a live period, not even from this franchise, but I
- 1:54Speaker 4: feel like you and I are just like.
- 1:55Speaker 5: When we hang out, I feel we're the same age.
- 1:57Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:58Speaker 2: It's crazy because I really don't like you guys, don't
- 2:01Speaker 2: feel like you have a big age gap.
- 2:02Speaker 5: No, it's because Bob is so.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Immature and Benison exactly.
- 2:07Speaker 5: There you go. That's really honestly, that is it.
- 2:10Speaker 1: No, it's it's interesting as we get older. My some
- 2:13Speaker 1: of my best friends in the world are, you know,
- 2:14Speaker 1: in their later forties and fifties. Now you just kind of,
- 2:19Speaker 1: you know, life kind of comes together once kids come
- 2:21Speaker 1: into play, and once it's the only thing you can do,
- 2:23Speaker 1: you know, athletically is golf, Bob. I'm going to shower
- 2:27Speaker 1: you with compliments throughout the show. Oh and I hope
- 2:31Speaker 1: you give us some headline. So that's the only rule
- 2:33Speaker 1: you have, and I'll shower you with compliments the rest
- 2:34Speaker 1: of the time. So I mean this compliment because I
- 2:38Speaker 1: was talking about it a couple days ago, and I
- 2:43Speaker 1: won't mention with who, but it's another lead on this, okay.
- 2:48Speaker 1: And they're talking about career choices, like what if you've
- 2:51Speaker 1: been have any advice for what this looks like post
- 2:54Speaker 1: show or during show or whatever, like, how would you
- 2:58Speaker 1: have navigated differently, how did you feel like you it well,
- 3:00Speaker 1: et cetera. So we were talking through this and I said,
- 3:04Speaker 1: and I said this blanket comment without thinking through it first,
- 3:08Speaker 1: and then I stopped myself to think through it. I
- 3:09Speaker 1: said this. I said, you know, if you look at
- 3:12Speaker 1: the history of the leads on the show, the women
- 3:15Speaker 1: traditionally do really well, like the bachelorettes do really well
- 3:17Speaker 1: post show in entertainment or in you know, influencing now
- 3:22Speaker 1: would be a way to say that, or you know,
- 3:24Speaker 1: keeping some type of revenue stream going. I said, the
- 3:28Speaker 1: bachelors some have caught fire, but for the most part,
- 3:33Speaker 1: it's kind of this strategic switch from either keeping the
- 3:37Speaker 1: career you had before or enhancing that career a little bit,
- 3:40Speaker 1: using this whole platform for a few years, and then
- 3:43Speaker 1: really launching off into like whatever season's next for you
- 3:47Speaker 1: outside of entertainment. I said, you don't have I said,
- 3:50Speaker 1: you don't have many representatives that have made it an
- 3:54Speaker 1: entertainment post show. And then I stopped. I said, actually,
- 3:57Speaker 1: I would say that Bob Guiney has I mean you
- 4:00Speaker 1: two thousand and three, it was twenty two years ago. Yeah,
- 4:04Speaker 1: you're still on the almost famous OG so you're still
- 4:07Speaker 1: talking and people still want to listen to you for
- 4:09Speaker 1: a living.
- 4:10Speaker 5: Uh.
- 4:11Speaker 1: In addition to that, you obviously have a career that
- 4:13Speaker 1: you you know, put time into, but you were on
- 4:17Speaker 1: serious radio. You obviously a musician, we did the man
- 4:21Speaker 1: panel on the Today Show together for I think two
- 4:24Speaker 1: and all years you.
- 4:25Speaker 5: Did it one I didn't, yeah, ten years.
- 4:28Speaker 1: But you you have made a career post show. So
- 4:33Speaker 1: I want to start this whole thing by we'll talk
- 4:35Speaker 1: about The Bachelor and your time there, and that's great,
- 4:38Speaker 1: But how do you think you made that happen? What
- 4:41Speaker 1: steps did you take or how did this kind of
- 4:43Speaker 1: fall into your lap to where that was such a
- 4:47Speaker 1: prevalent use of your time after show?
- 4:51Speaker 5: Well? Thanks, first of all, thanks for saying that. I mean,
- 4:53Speaker 5: you know, it's interesting.
- 4:54Speaker 4: I would say I would say probably Jesse is probably done.
- 5:00Speaker 4: You know some of the more you know, high end uh,
- 5:02Speaker 4: you know, entertainment. Yeah, yeah, But was it Matt Stork?
- 5:06Speaker 4: Is it?
- 5:07Speaker 5: Yeah? Travis Stork?
- 5:08Speaker 4: Travis Yeah, which, oddly enough, I'll never forget. Right before,
- 5:12Speaker 4: so I got a call from a producer and this
- 5:15Speaker 4: is uh and and you'll you'll appreciate this. This is
- 5:18Speaker 4: the highs and the lows, the thrill of victory in
- 5:20Speaker 4: the agony of defeat of the entertainment world for a
- 5:24Speaker 4: bachelor guy.
- 5:26Speaker 5: I am on the set, so I was one of
- 5:28Speaker 5: my favorite jobs.
- 5:29Speaker 4: I did in entertainment was hosting the scene in music festival,
- 5:32Speaker 4: so I would go down, I'd be the guy that would,
- 5:34Speaker 4: you know, basically be like welcome back, you know. I
- 5:36Speaker 4: think that was you know, Rascal Flats, you know, next
- 5:39Speaker 4: up Keith Urban and the crowded go crazy, and I
- 5:41Speaker 4: was like, this is the coolest job ever.
- 5:42Speaker 5: I did for seven years, and in the middle of
- 5:44Speaker 5: it, it was on.
- 5:45Speaker 4: It was on, It was on CMT, it was before
- 5:47Speaker 4: it jumped over to being full time on ABC. But
- 5:51Speaker 4: I'll never forget. I get a call from these producers
- 5:53Speaker 4: from something and they're like, you know, we want you
- 5:55Speaker 4: to host one of our shows on CMT. And they're like,
- 5:58Speaker 4: we're gonna plug and play you right into this companion
- 6:00Speaker 4: show with it for our number one hit show. And
- 6:02Speaker 4: the number one hit show at the time was called
- 6:04Speaker 4: Trick My Truck. And I'm like, oh okay, and it's
- 6:07Speaker 4: like yeah, it's almost like a makeup like pimp my
- 6:09Speaker 4: Ride for semi trucks. I'm like, oh okay, I don't
- 6:13Speaker 4: really know anything about that stuff. Like no, no, no, that's
- 6:15Speaker 4: all we want you for. We're doing a like a
- 6:16Speaker 4: spinoff show and it's called Trick My Trucker and We're
- 6:20Speaker 4: just gonna plug.
- 6:21Speaker 5: You into it. We're gonna plug you on it right now.
- 6:22Speaker 4: And I'm like what And it wasn't. I don't have
- 6:27Speaker 4: a cluely why I said yes to it, but I did,
- 6:29Speaker 4: and in saying yes to it, I'm like okay. And
- 6:32Speaker 4: it was basically like a makeover show for truck drivers
- 6:36Speaker 4: and I'm like the host, yeah, yeah, they all sort.
- 6:40Speaker 5: Of out of my room, right.
- 6:41Speaker 4: But I was doing like a bunch of homemakeover style
- 6:43Speaker 4: stuff like back then for AGTV and all that kind
- 6:45Speaker 4: of stuff, So I guess in a weird way, maybe
- 6:46Speaker 4: it fit. And while I'm doing it, I get a
- 6:49Speaker 4: phone call from a producer friend of mine and he's like, hey, man,
- 6:52Speaker 4: got this great idea for a show.
- 6:53Speaker 5: And he's telling me the.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Show and I'm like, it's about doctors and we're gonna,
- 6:57Speaker 4: you know, we're gonna tell people how to solve know ailments.
- 7:00Speaker 5: And I'm like, why does this guy call me?
- 7:03Speaker 4: I'm not a doctor, and he goes, do you know
- 7:04Speaker 4: how I can get a hold of Travis Stork?
- 7:07Speaker 5: I really? And I'm like what, wait?
- 7:09Speaker 4: What? And I will never forget it because I was like, yeah,
- 7:12Speaker 4: I can connect the dots and help. And in that moment,
- 7:14Speaker 4: I'm realizing the end of my career and the launching
- 7:17Speaker 4: pad for doctor Travis Stork's career. But you know, I'm
- 7:21Speaker 4: on a set of a you know, truck driver makeover
- 7:23Speaker 4: show and some weird you know, and some weird truck
- 7:25Speaker 4: stop and like, I don't even know.
- 7:28Speaker 5: I'm like, what is going on with my life?
- 7:30Speaker 3: It makes fun show too. It was definitely coming off
- 7:32Speaker 3: of Queer Eye.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Yeah, probably, Yeah, they were just finding different ways to
- 7:36Speaker 4: spin it, you know. And but yeah, you know, it
- 7:39Speaker 4: was kind of interesting after after the Bachelorette, which you know,
- 7:43Speaker 4: my brother in law, I've told you this story many times, Ben,
- 7:45Speaker 4: and I think Ashley probably knows it too. But I
- 7:47Speaker 4: didn't shibmit myself to be on any of it, and
- 7:49Speaker 4: so and I actually thought it was a joke when
- 7:51Speaker 4: they were calling me because I was crouching around my
- 7:54Speaker 4: office after one of my many, you know, ailments, and
- 7:58Speaker 4: I had never been heavier, and they're calling me for
- 8:00Speaker 4: this show that I didn't submit myself for. And it's
- 8:02Speaker 4: Lacey Pemberton with a scratchy voice, and I think it's
- 8:04Speaker 4: a guy messing with me, sounding like a woman.
- 8:07Speaker 5: And I'm like, okay, all right, you know.
- 8:08Speaker 4: So I'd be like, oh, yeah, you know, boy meets
- 8:10Speaker 4: girl every day in Detroit and on in front of
- 8:13Speaker 4: a million viewers, you know, and they're like, why you
- 8:14Speaker 4: send in a demo tape. I'm like, not gonna be
- 8:16Speaker 4: the fat guy and you're blueper real, but thanks, and
- 8:17Speaker 4: I'm hanging up. I'm thinking it's like I'm gonna cutch
- 8:20Speaker 4: you around and everyone's gonna be laughing.
- 8:22Speaker 5: No one's laughing. I'm like, what the hell? I know
- 8:23Speaker 5: that was funny. And my brother in law said it best.
- 8:26Speaker 4: He was like, if I would have tried to make
- 8:28Speaker 4: any of it happen, I would have looked like a
- 8:29Speaker 4: complete idiot, you know. But instead I stepped in a
- 8:32Speaker 4: pile of dog poop and pulled a hundred dollars bill
- 8:34Speaker 4: off my shoe.
- 8:35Speaker 5: You know.
- 8:35Speaker 4: He's like, it just sort of was one of those
- 8:37Speaker 4: times in your life. And the TV thing kind of
- 8:39Speaker 4: came as a result of that too. I went on
- 8:43Speaker 4: Trista's season of the Bachelorette and everybody there is ripped,
- 8:47Speaker 4: you know, and I'm like in the worst shape of
- 8:48Speaker 4: my life. And I would normally be one of those
- 8:50Speaker 4: guys who maybe isn't ripped, but at least would have been,
- 8:52Speaker 4: you know, in moderately decent shape.
- 8:55Speaker 5: And I'm like, oh, I'm clearly going home pretty soon here,
- 8:57Speaker 5: you know. So I'm just gonna have fun.
- 8:58Speaker 4: And I had a blast and just kept sticking around,
- 9:01Speaker 4: you know. And then you know, Interest and I are
- 9:04Speaker 4: still friends this day, obviously, and but it was one
- 9:06Speaker 4: of those things, and the Bachelor kind of came. You know,
- 9:09Speaker 4: Oprah thought I was funny, made me your man on
- 9:11Speaker 4: the street. Next thing you know, I'm hosting all these
- 9:13Speaker 4: segments for Oprah and she's like, this is where you belong,
- 9:16Speaker 4: you know. And then they call me to do The Bachelor.
- 9:17Speaker 4: I'm like, I don't think I want to do it.
- 9:19Speaker 4: I call Oprah. Oprah kind of talks what.
- 9:24Speaker 5: Lot.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:25Speaker 2: I reached out to the Oprah for advice on becoming
- 9:29Speaker 2: the Bachelor.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Yeah. I reached out to her executive assistant, who connected us,
- 9:33Speaker 4: and one day my phone rings back. I'm like, I'm like,
- 9:36Speaker 4: I know this is a weird request, but could Oprah?
- 9:39Speaker 4: I need to talk to Oprah. I want to, you know,
- 9:41Speaker 4: because she was the only only person I knew that
- 9:43Speaker 4: was I need to talk to Oprah. But at this
- 9:46Speaker 4: point I'd done her show like ten times, you know,
- 9:48Speaker 4: cooking with a chef. I'm doing all this cool stuff,
- 9:50Speaker 4: like they get firefighters in Chicago and then they bring
- 9:53Speaker 4: me in and I'm like, with a firefighter, I mean everything,
- 9:56Speaker 4: you know.
- 9:56Speaker 5: It was just she just thought it was funny and
- 9:57Speaker 5: gave me a platform to I'm an idiot.
- 10:00Speaker 3: You got a phone call.
- 10:02Speaker 5: So I get a phone call and tell us what
- 10:04Speaker 5: she said. Yeah, I legitimately said.
- 10:06Speaker 4: I was like, I'm struggling that they're asking me to
- 10:09Speaker 4: be the Bachelor guy, and I just don't think I'm
- 10:12Speaker 4: the right guy for it.
- 10:13Speaker 5: And she's like she was so.
- 10:15Speaker 4: I mean, she basically was the reason why they were
- 10:17Speaker 4: calling me, right, She's like, I want Bob to be
- 10:18Speaker 4: the next Bachelor.
- 10:19Speaker 5: That was really all it took. But I was like,
- 10:22Speaker 5: I just don't think I'm the right guy for it.
- 10:24Speaker 4: You know, I'm not really doing anything memorable in my life,
- 10:28Speaker 4: and I just came off a trist this season.
- 10:29Speaker 5: That was a lot of fun. I'm the lovable loser,
- 10:31Speaker 5: and everywhere I go, people are like, you should have
- 10:32Speaker 5: been the guy. You know, I'm like, thanks, They needless
- 10:35Speaker 5: to say. They edited me nicely, and I was kind
- 10:38Speaker 5: of just like, I.
- 10:38Speaker 4: Don't think I'm I just don't think I'm that guy.
- 10:41Speaker 4: And she's like, oh my god, that's why you are
- 10:44Speaker 4: that guy. She's like, because you don't think you're that guy.
- 10:46Speaker 4: And she's like, just be you and be true to
- 10:49Speaker 4: who you are and it'll be the greatest season they've
- 10:51Speaker 4: ever had. And she's like, you know, you've got to
- 10:53Speaker 4: do this. And she really kind of made me, I guess,
- 10:56Speaker 4: feel like I could do it, you know. And so
- 10:59Speaker 4: I was like, Okay, what the heck, I'm going to
- 11:01Speaker 4: give it a.
- 11:01Speaker 5: Shot, you know.
- 11:01Speaker 4: And and I just had to be open to the
- 11:03Speaker 4: fact that I could find love in that circumstance.
- 11:07Speaker 5: And so that was kind of it, you know.
- 11:09Speaker 4: I went ahead with it and and the entertainment world
- 11:12Speaker 4: as it was a very long way of getting to
- 11:14Speaker 4: the answer of Ben's question. But it kind of was
- 11:17Speaker 4: much the same like after The Bachelor, they'd call me,
- 11:19Speaker 4: they go, hey, do you want to do this?
- 11:20Speaker 5: I'm like, yeah, why not? That sounds like fun. It
- 11:23Speaker 5: wasn't like I had my design on anything, you know.
- 11:25Speaker 4: And thankfully I never fully quit my day job, which
- 11:29Speaker 4: is always my advice to any of the new Bachelor guys.
- 11:31Speaker 4: I'm like, look, you're not Ben affleck Man. Stay in
- 11:34Speaker 4: your lane right and be you and have fun. But
- 11:38Speaker 4: you know, it's going to be really tough twenty five
- 11:41Speaker 4: years from now when you're going back to your very
- 11:43Speaker 4: first job interview, because you haven't done anything relevant other
- 11:47Speaker 4: than you know, celebrity bull riding in the last ten years.
- 11:51Speaker 4: It's going to be really tough to get a job,
- 11:53Speaker 4: you know. So don't quit what you do, like, stay
- 11:56Speaker 4: somehow with a business acumen, and don't think that you know,
- 11:59Speaker 4: se tooth whitening kids on Instagram is going to be
- 12:02Speaker 4: a really great career move for you in the long run,
- 12:04Speaker 4: because it's not, you know.
- 12:05Speaker 5: And that's always been kind of my mindset.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I think it's the best advice. How did you give
- 12:09Speaker 1: that advice? I think you maybe give that advice to me,
- 12:13Speaker 1: and it was something I didn't do for two more years.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I kept selling software, which was great, but then it
- 12:18Speaker 1: led into this, and then it led into the freedom
- 12:20Speaker 1: to create some other things. But I think it's the
- 12:23Speaker 1: best advice you can give a lead is you're going
- 12:25Speaker 1: to feel like king of the world and money's going
- 12:27Speaker 1: to flow into your bank account faster than you ever
- 12:30Speaker 1: thought it would. But it also stops faster than you ever.
- 12:33Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, sure it does. It's a humbling experience.
- 12:35Speaker 1: You know, when do you think that changed for you? Like,
- 12:38Speaker 1: when do you think that switch happened? Because obviously now
- 12:41Speaker 1: entertainment isn't the main source of your income, So like,
- 12:46Speaker 1: when did that start to feel like, hey, I should
- 12:48Speaker 1: probably now invest even more time into my full time job.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Yeah, when did you start to feel your store fade?
- 12:55Speaker 5: Yeah? Well, you know, I gotta be honest with you.
- 12:57Speaker 5: I didn't feel it.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gonna say, I don't I think you
- 13:00Speaker 2: could have continued.
- 13:02Speaker 4: Well, it took a really good friend of mine to
- 13:04Speaker 4: help me feel it, to be honest. So I had
- 13:06Speaker 4: a buddy of mine from high school who he had
- 13:08Speaker 4: gone on he played, you know, college football, he played
- 13:11Speaker 4: professional football for a while and he became a hedge
- 13:14Speaker 4: fund manager and all this kind of stuff, And we'd
- 13:15Speaker 4: always had this really nice thing. And he called me
- 13:18Speaker 4: on my fortieth birthday to wish me a happy birthday.
- 13:23Speaker 4: So this was this was two years before I kind
- 13:26Speaker 4: of the same timeline has done two years when I
- 13:28Speaker 4: got this advice and I chose to heat it. But
- 13:32Speaker 4: he was like, hey, you know you and I had
- 13:35Speaker 4: just bought my second house in La. I'm thinking, I'm
- 13:37Speaker 4: just I think I got the world, you know, I
- 13:40Speaker 4: got it all figured out. And and he was like, well,
- 13:43Speaker 4: I just want to say this to you. He's like,
- 13:45Speaker 4: I know you got your celebrity band buddies, and he's like,
- 13:49Speaker 4: I know you're buying real estate and you're doing all
- 13:51Speaker 4: this kind of stuff.
- 13:51Speaker 5: He's like, but pretty soon, you're not going to be
- 13:54Speaker 5: the flavor of the month. There's going to be a.
- 13:56Speaker 4: Younger, funnier, more handsome bachelor guy who's gonna come along,
- 14:01Speaker 4: and you're gonna be the guy that sort of like
- 14:04Speaker 4: keeps getting pushed down the thing.
- 14:05Speaker 3: There's never been a funnier bachelor.
- 14:07Speaker 5: Oh Ashley, you so much, thank you.
- 14:11Speaker 4: But I was like it kind of resonated with me
- 14:13Speaker 4: because I think because of who he was right who
- 14:15Speaker 4: he was saying it to me, no vested interest in
- 14:18Speaker 4: him saying it. It wasn't like he was competing with
- 14:20Speaker 4: me for anything or whatever. It was like just a
- 14:22Speaker 4: buddy who I love, who had the guts to tell
- 14:26Speaker 4: me like he saw it, you know. And I was
- 14:28Speaker 4: like he's right, like, pretty soon, I'm gonna be that
- 14:30Speaker 4: guy that I'm telling everyone else not to be, Like,
- 14:33Speaker 4: don't be the dude selling, you know, tooth whitening.
- 14:35Speaker 5: Kids.
- 14:35Speaker 4: I'm wondering why you can't get a job in finance again.
- 14:37Speaker 4: You haven't done it in a long time.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Jared has a tooth whitening ad coming up, guys, felt He's.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Also a business owner, and you know, there's a lot
- 14:46Speaker 4: going on, supplemental, supplemental tooth white. And he does have
- 14:50Speaker 4: a brilliant smile, and so therefore he should I I
- 14:53Speaker 4: have never had that much of it. I want to
- 14:55Speaker 4: have the ross from friend's teeth, and I just don't
- 14:57Speaker 4: have them.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Jared has bad byer too, so he he's got good.
- 15:00Speaker 5: He's got bright though they're bright outside of teeth. Continue, Bob,
- 15:04Speaker 5: thank you, Yes, So he calls it.
- 15:06Speaker 4: He gives me this advice, and it really I don't
- 15:08Speaker 4: know if it was because I was just turning forty.
- 15:09Speaker 4: I don't know what it was, but I had been
- 15:12Speaker 4: at that point. I was eight years off my season.
- 15:16Speaker 4: It was really like the ten year mark, I guess.
- 15:18Speaker 4: So it was ten years after I was a bachelor,
- 15:21Speaker 4: and that's when I was like, you know, I'm going
- 15:23Speaker 4: to start taking these opportunities that I have because I
- 15:25Speaker 4: was still doing a lot of a live event hosting
- 15:27Speaker 4: at the time, where I would go and do like
- 15:29Speaker 4: a Fortune five hundred company would hire me and I'd
- 15:31Speaker 4: go in to be their MC for their you know,
- 15:33Speaker 4: sales awards and stuff like that. I was like, I'm
- 15:35Speaker 4: gonna start and every time I would do it, they'd
- 15:36Speaker 4: offer me a job and I'd be like, no thanks,
- 15:38Speaker 4: you know, And I was like, I'm gonna quit just
- 15:40Speaker 4: saying no thanks. I'm gonna start thinking about these opportunities
- 15:43Speaker 4: and see if I can create something that I love
- 15:46Speaker 4: that's kind of a combination of my personality meets this
- 15:50Speaker 4: and where it's not just based off of you know,
- 15:53Speaker 4: because I was also you know, and we all kind of.
- 15:55Speaker 5: Go through it too.
- 15:56Speaker 4: We get to that point where we're sort of you're
- 15:58Speaker 4: not tired of it, but you want to be known
- 16:00Speaker 4: as something else than bachelor Bob from twenty years ago, right,
- 16:03Speaker 4: and so you're thinking, like what else can I do?
- 16:05Speaker 4: And so that's when I started really thinking about it.
- 16:08Speaker 4: And so twenty fifteen, which would have been twelve years
- 16:10Speaker 4: after I was a bachelor, was when I finally was like, Okay,
- 16:15Speaker 4: now I'm gonna take advantage of these opportunities and turned
- 16:18Speaker 4: it into an opportunity. Left La moved to Seattle with
- 16:21Speaker 4: a company called Lincoln Financial, who you know, really took
- 16:24Speaker 4: a big chance with me, and they gave me an
- 16:25Speaker 4: opportunity to sort of grow and do some things that
- 16:29Speaker 4: I had been doing, but.
- 16:32Speaker 5: You know, take it next level and really make a
- 16:34Speaker 5: career out of it.
- 16:35Speaker 4: But they were also really supportive of me doing other
- 16:39Speaker 4: stuff and never once did they you know, make me,
- 16:42Speaker 4: you know, feel like I couldn't. In fact, that was
- 16:44Speaker 4: kind of part of it. Was they were like, we
- 16:45Speaker 4: want you to continue doing your stuff. That's what makes you,
- 16:47Speaker 4: makes you different.
- 16:47Speaker 5: You know.
- 16:48Speaker 4: And so I I got doing the Today Show for
- 16:50Speaker 4: many years after that, which is how Ben and I
- 16:52Speaker 4: met in person, and then you know, it was like.
- 16:55Speaker 5: All that kind of good stuff. So yeah, I was.
- 16:57Speaker 5: I was pretty happy about the way it kind of continued.
- 16:59Speaker 4: And you know, I still get to dabble these days,
- 17:02Speaker 4: but now with the kids and everything else, the dabbling
- 17:04Speaker 4: has become you know, a little more selective.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Quick note, Ashley, because I know you have some questions
- 17:19Speaker 1: about almost famous ogs Bob and I still this day
- 17:24Speaker 1: people ask me, what's one of the coolest things you've
- 17:25Speaker 1: gotten to do since you were a bachelor, And I
- 17:27Speaker 1: always say, well, I get to host a show with Ashley,
- 17:30Speaker 1: and that to me is fantastic, and it has been
- 17:33Speaker 1: since we started. So the other thing is and Ashley.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I don't know if you know this. Bob and I
- 17:40Speaker 1: were on set filming on the Day show for Kathy
- 17:45Speaker 1: Lee Gifford's very final day on that on television.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Oh really, I hear that she's like the nicest person
- 17:50Speaker 3: in Hollywood.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Yeah, she's amazing. Hode is gone now, but we were
- 17:58Speaker 1: there and so it was a really like ear moment
- 18:00Speaker 1: for me because I think Bob was sitting next man
- 18:03Speaker 1: on the couch and I was like, I've watched her
- 18:04Speaker 1: my entire life, Like i watched her with my mom,
- 18:06Speaker 1: Regis and Kathy, like I watched that show with her
- 18:10Speaker 1: so much, and now I'm sitting here three foot from
- 18:13Speaker 1: her as she cries and says goodbye to TV. And
- 18:16Speaker 1: it was it was wild. It's one of those moments
- 18:19Speaker 1: you're like, how did this all happen?
- 18:21Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 18:23Speaker 1: Up here, Yeah, it's really But I know you have
- 18:27Speaker 1: some questions about the O G show that that Bob
- 18:29Speaker 1: hosts with his ex girlfriend.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Well, first I wanted to talk about your ex wife.
- 18:35Speaker 5: Oh yes, okay, so.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Rebecca Rebecca boot Egg?
- 18:40Speaker 3: Is that how you say her?
- 18:41Speaker 5: Last night?
- 18:41Speaker 2: But okay, man, I remember this was like a big
- 18:44Speaker 2: thing because my mom was a big all my children's
- 18:47Speaker 2: children fan and she was all my children. So my
- 18:49Speaker 2: mom thought that you guys were a really cool celebrity couple.
- 18:53Speaker 3: And you guys were married for six.
- 18:56Speaker 5: Years six and a half half.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Okay, again, you were kind of like a celebrity. You
- 19:02Speaker 2: were marrying another actress. This was all on the tabloid
- 19:05Speaker 2: covers and noybe you guys might be working on something together.
- 19:10Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, it's interesting. You know they say never
- 19:13Speaker 4: burn your bridges, right, and it's kind of funny. I
- 19:16Speaker 4: I always we split up. Well, I guess whatever seven
- 19:22Speaker 4: years would have been after we got married. I can't
- 19:23Speaker 4: remember the year now, but.
- 19:26Speaker 5: Ok, thank you.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Yeah, and uh we it wasn't because of anything uh
- 19:34Speaker 4: you know, bad or anything toxic or anything anything.
- 19:37Speaker 5: It was more that we were just two people who
- 19:39Speaker 5: had grown apart.
- 19:40Speaker 4: You know, we're living on opposite coasts at the time,
- 19:42Speaker 4: and had been for a couple of years because of
- 19:43Speaker 4: her career and and I had moved with her when
- 19:47Speaker 4: she wanted to go to LA and so I had
- 19:48Speaker 4: started a career there and it was just really difficult
- 19:51Speaker 4: to figure out what was going to happen. And so
- 19:53Speaker 4: it was one of those things where, oh, we'll take
- 19:54Speaker 4: it every six months and see what you know, and
- 19:56Speaker 4: it's it's tough to do.
- 19:57Speaker 5: And so it was never from a.
- 19:59Speaker 4: Lack of you know, love or caring for one another.
- 20:02Speaker 4: It was more from a just a grown apart and
- 20:04Speaker 4: and but we remained very friendly. And her husband when
- 20:10Speaker 4: she remarried, was a guy that I really liked and respected.
- 20:15Speaker 4: And it was one of those things where the long
- 20:18Speaker 4: and the short of it is he came up with
- 20:21Speaker 4: an idea and he presented it and it sounded pretty
- 20:25Speaker 4: interesting and and we still don't know what's going to
- 20:29Speaker 4: happen with.
- 20:29Speaker 5: It, if anything.
- 20:30Speaker 4: But this past year, you know, she returned back to
- 20:34Speaker 4: the soaps and went back to Bold and Beautiful, So
- 20:36Speaker 4: we actually had her Trista and I my ex girlfriend Trista,
- 20:39Speaker 4: and I had her one of the triangle Oh yeah,
- 20:42Speaker 4: what a lineage, and we had her on the show
- 20:45Speaker 4: to talk about her return to daytime television and kind
- 20:49Speaker 4: of teased this idea that was thrown out there, and
- 20:52Speaker 4: you know, we'll see what happens. I mean, it's one
- 20:53Speaker 4: of those things that's very early on in the development stages,
- 20:56Speaker 4: but I will tell you, and I think this is
- 20:58Speaker 4: an important part to talk about.
- 21:00Speaker 5: Is I went to my wife, who my wife and
- 21:03Speaker 5: I have been married, and I was.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Going to say, how does Kanyon feel about this?
- 21:06Speaker 4: Yeah, and Kanyon's like, that's an awesome show. I think
- 21:09Speaker 4: you should totally do it. I'm like, really, he's like
- 21:12Speaker 4: super supportive of it, you know.
- 21:14Speaker 1: So Keanyon is one of the most fun people to
- 21:17Speaker 1: be around and also one of the most welcoming. She'll
- 21:21Speaker 1: always make sure. Yeah, my wife kind of was wrapped
- 21:25Speaker 1: up in some comfortable arms. Yeah, showing around. Kenyon is is.
- 21:30Speaker 4: One when she likes you. When she likes you, she
- 21:32Speaker 4: can also be a pit bull when she doesn't. So, yeah,
- 21:34Speaker 4: she clearly likes you.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Can see that. But I always seem the good side
- 21:37Speaker 1: and I love the good me too, good side of Kanyon.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Me too.
- 21:41Speaker 4: I agree with you, buddy, And yeah, so my my
- 21:44Speaker 4: wife was very supportive of the idea. So if something
- 21:47Speaker 4: ever does come of it, which who knows, you know,
- 21:51Speaker 4: but if something ever did come of it, I'd be
- 21:53Speaker 4: more than happy to talk about it here first with you.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Kanyon has a lot of like jealousy concerns. You know,
- 21:59Speaker 1: you've really now with her. I think it's like, Bob,
- 22:02Speaker 1: you go do what you gotta do. But I know
- 22:04Speaker 1: she does.
- 22:05Speaker 5: You know, it's so true.
- 22:06Speaker 4: I mean, that was that was the thing about her
- 22:08Speaker 4: when I you know, when I met her, I really
- 22:10Speaker 4: didn't ever think I was gonna get married again, you know,
- 22:12Speaker 4: when I met Canyon, and so I was sort of like,
- 22:15Speaker 4: you know, oh, we're gonna date and have fun whatever,
- 22:17Speaker 4: you know. And I was probably treating it in my
- 22:20Speaker 4: mind anyway, like it was a casual, you know, relationship.
- 22:24Speaker 4: And it was funny because all my buddies would be like, uh,
- 22:27Speaker 4: I'm like, well, yeah, we should go, you know, and uh,
- 22:29Speaker 4: you know, maybe I'll maybe I'll bring maybe I'll bring
- 22:31Speaker 4: a date or something.
- 22:32Speaker 5: They're like, oh, you.
- 22:33Speaker 4: Mean the date the only person that you ever hang
- 22:36Speaker 4: out with, but you pretend like you're you know, not
- 22:39Speaker 4: dating can oh no, you know, we're.
- 22:42Speaker 5: Just so casual.
- 22:43Speaker 4: And so it's funny because Canyon to this day. Like
- 22:45Speaker 4: people will say, you know, you know, so, what's going
- 22:47Speaker 4: on with you guys?
- 22:48Speaker 5: You know what do you guys? She'll go, oh, we're keeping.
- 22:50Speaker 4: It casual, two kids, casual, you know, you know, eight
- 22:53Speaker 4: years married, casual.
- 22:55Speaker 5: And you know it's it's actually pretty funny.
- 22:57Speaker 4: But yeah, she's she's super cool about that stuff, and
- 23:01Speaker 4: you know, yeah, it's got nothing to worry about anyway,
- 23:03Speaker 4: So it's not like, you know, it's very comical. I'll
- 23:08Speaker 4: just tell you this when I leave to go do something,
- 23:10Speaker 4: like I'll be hosting something and she'll be like, you know,
- 23:12Speaker 4: the things that she says to me are not the
- 23:14Speaker 4: common things that a wife would say to a husband
- 23:16Speaker 4: who's leaving for a business trip.
- 23:17Speaker 5: She'll say something and it'll.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Literally make me laugh until I get home, and it's
- 23:21Speaker 4: just like, you know, she'll say some pretty off colored
- 23:24Speaker 4: things which are part of our relationship, DNA.
- 23:27Speaker 5: I suppose it's really funny to me.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Let's talk about the Ogs. That's our spinoff podcast that
- 23:32Speaker 2: you introduce us right now. You guys are doing the
- 23:34Speaker 2: recaps of Special Forces, of course because she's on it,
- 23:37Speaker 2: but you also do a lot with the Golden Bachelor
- 23:40Speaker 2: why does the Golden Bachelor and Golden Bachelor I prefer
- 23:43Speaker 2: you guys over us.
- 23:44Speaker 4: Well, I mean people like to hang out with people
- 23:46Speaker 4: that are on their same age, you know, I think, and.
- 23:50Speaker 5: I am definitely that guy. Not trust this so much,
- 23:53Speaker 5: but me for sure.
- 23:55Speaker 4: Yeah, it's really crazy when you're talking like the Golden
- 23:57Speaker 4: Bachelor people and I'm like, I'm like five years younger
- 23:59Speaker 4: than this is really strange, Bob.
- 24:01Speaker 2: That is actually almost a true fact. And I feel
- 24:04Speaker 2: about that for you, I know, I will know. I
- 24:07Speaker 2: don't know how old Joan and Shok are bisty or
- 24:10Speaker 2: sixty one and you're fifty.
- 24:12Speaker 5: Three, fifty three. I mean, it's like we're kind of
- 24:15Speaker 5: fifty three.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Oh thanks, I feel like the oldest uh lately with
- 24:19Speaker 4: my kids not sleeping through the night again, it's the
- 24:21Speaker 4: sleep aggression, guys. It even comes back at three. But yeah,
- 24:25Speaker 4: I think, uh, you know, we've loved it. And thank you, guys,
- 24:28Speaker 4: thank you for letting us, you know, be on your
- 24:30Speaker 4: stream and for being a part of the whole thing,
- 24:32Speaker 4: and thanks to Sugarman of course for even thinking of
- 24:35Speaker 4: the idea for us. It's one of those things. I mean,
- 24:38Speaker 4: it's really been a lot of fun. I didn't even
- 24:41Speaker 4: know what a podcast was five years ago, you know,
- 24:44Speaker 4: and it's like, ID hear people talking about it, I'm like,
- 24:46Speaker 4: why the hell would you listen to a podcast?
- 24:47Speaker 5: I can, you know, listen to Pop Rocks, you.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Know, two thousand and five and I got all my
- 24:51Speaker 4: music I need, and you know, but it's so fun
- 24:54Speaker 4: to hear to get to know people and like to
- 24:57Speaker 4: hear their stories and really, you know, share with that,
- 25:00Speaker 4: and it makes you think of your own stuff too.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Like I don't know how many times I'll be done
- 25:04Speaker 4: interviewing somebody, especially from the Golden Series, and I'll like
- 25:06Speaker 4: hang up and.
- 25:07Speaker 5: Go, gosh, I kind of relate to that person. I
- 25:10Speaker 5: get it.
- 25:10Speaker 4: I always feeling that way at one point, you know.
- 25:12Speaker 4: And so yeah, now we're onto the Special Forces thing.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Trista's on there. She's doing a really great job. First
- 25:18Speaker 4: episode I watched, I won't lie to you guys, I
- 25:20Speaker 4: actually got emotional watching it.
- 25:22Speaker 5: Like I was sitting there by myself because I had
- 25:24Speaker 5: to wait.
- 25:24Speaker 4: You know, the kids are bed and everything, and I'm
- 25:26Speaker 4: watching this person I've known for twenty years, and Trista
- 25:30Speaker 4: push herself to such a place that was like I
- 25:32Speaker 4: knew how uncomfortable she had to be, and I knew
- 25:33Speaker 4: how hard it had to be. And then you start
- 25:35Speaker 4: thinking about it, like, I mean, I know Ben feels
- 25:38Speaker 4: this way too. Every guy I know always feels this way.
- 25:40Speaker 4: But you start thinking, man, can I do that? Like
- 25:42Speaker 4: should I push myself?
- 25:43Speaker 5: Should I just put myself in a situations uncomfortable like that?
- 25:46Speaker 4: And you start wondering if you could do it, And
- 25:48Speaker 4: then you start hearing in the reasons that motivate these
- 25:50Speaker 4: people to go on this show because they ask, you know,
- 25:53Speaker 4: fifty people, I'm sure to get it down to these
- 25:55Speaker 4: sixteen or whatever, and to hear the reasons that they
- 25:58Speaker 4: are challenging themselves and it's not a competition show, so
- 26:01Speaker 4: they're not it doesn't matter who lasts to the end.
- 26:03Speaker 5: You can, yeah, exactly. And it's like, man, that's just it.
- 26:06Speaker 4: Like you start wondering, you know, especially at my age,
- 26:10Speaker 4: right I'm fifty three, I think about it. You know,
- 26:13Speaker 4: did I peak at thirty two? I guess I did
- 26:15Speaker 4: when I was a bachelor, you know, and ever since then,
- 26:17Speaker 4: it's like, you know, twenty years later, it's like, am
- 26:19Speaker 4: I still like I played college football? Am I still
- 26:22Speaker 4: an athlete. Can I still get it done if I
- 26:23Speaker 4: train a little bit, you know, And or am I
- 26:25Speaker 4: just a dad you know, who's basically an uber for
- 26:28Speaker 4: my kids and you know, trying to keep all the
- 26:30Speaker 4: all the balls in the air of my family life.
- 26:32Speaker 4: And you know, it's it's one of those things you
- 26:34Speaker 4: do wonder, you know. And and so it's been a
- 26:37Speaker 4: lot of there's been a lot of interesting conversations with
- 26:39Speaker 4: everybody that's been on the show, but I think most
- 26:42Speaker 4: of it's been kind of hearing Trista's connection with these
- 26:44Speaker 4: people and how she feels such a bond with them
- 26:46Speaker 4: after going through it. And my dad was a marine,
- 26:48Speaker 4: so you know, I was the only I was the
- 26:50Speaker 4: one who didn't go into the Armed service arm forces,
- 26:52Speaker 4: and so I'm always like, you know, did I drop
- 26:54Speaker 4: the ball there? Like you know what, like should I
- 26:56Speaker 4: have done it then? And yeah, it just makes you
- 26:58Speaker 4: think a lot. But it's been pretty rewarding doing the podcast.
- 27:02Speaker 5: For sure.
- 27:03Speaker 1: It's interesting podcasts do that, but it's such a healthy
- 27:07Speaker 1: habit to get in the I think, get in the
- 27:09Speaker 1: practice of asking those questions, not always going to the
- 27:12Speaker 1: place of, oh I dropped the ball right? Life looks
- 27:14Speaker 1: different for everybody, different paths, different things happen. But it's
- 27:18Speaker 1: one of the things that this show always does for
- 27:20Speaker 1: me is it does give me time to reflect and
- 27:22Speaker 1: ask myself those questions, you know, where am I at?
- 27:25Speaker 5: Like what am I?
- 27:26Speaker 1: You know? Who am I? To the people around me?
- 27:29Speaker 1: And Bob we have a really great interview, a late
- 27:34Speaker 1: night interview that happened at the baby shower for Jessica
- 27:38Speaker 1: and I that I heartput on. It has all the
- 27:42Speaker 1: details of kind of how you decided to have kids,
- 27:45Speaker 1: how that all worked out the process of having kids,
- 27:48Speaker 1: what you've learned as a father. Anybody listening right now
- 27:51Speaker 1: that just wants a very raw, very authentic interview with Bob,
- 27:57Speaker 1: go back and the thread here and listen to that Evergreen.
- 28:00Speaker 1: I mean, it talks about Bob's story, you know, being
- 28:03Speaker 1: a father at what were you forty seven?
- 28:05Speaker 5: I think forty seven, forty eight?
- 28:06Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 28:07Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I mean Grayson's six now, so I was
- 28:10Speaker 4: forty seven.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. It's a great interview or just a great conversation.
- 28:14Speaker 1: I think that a lot of people can learn a
- 28:15Speaker 1: lot from and the closing moments here I do want
- 28:18Speaker 1: to lean into your time as the Bachelor, because you
- 28:21Speaker 1: were the Bachelor. Do you my first question before we
- 28:24Speaker 1: even get going here, and I ask a bunch of
- 28:27Speaker 1: questions that you might not even have an answer to.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Do you even remember the season?
- 28:31Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the one thing, you know, It's it's kind
- 28:33Speaker 4: of burned in my brain for the most part, I think.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Because I don't. I don't remember a lot of my season.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Like you could say stuff and I'll be like, oh,
- 28:40Speaker 1: I remember that, yeah, but like I couldn't recall the moment,
- 28:45Speaker 1: the small moments, or all the things that happened very easily.
- 28:48Speaker 1: And I didn't mean that as like a dig like oh,
- 28:50Speaker 1: it's so long ago. I meant it as like a
- 28:52Speaker 1: it was such a flash, and it's such a blur
- 28:55Speaker 1: to me.
- 28:55Speaker 4: Now, right, Yeah, I see what you mean. I mean, yeah,
- 28:58Speaker 4: I remember the broad strokes, you know. I remember the
- 29:02Speaker 4: wide brush moments, I suppose, and the things that you know,
- 29:05Speaker 4: I carry with me, like you know, I remember the
- 29:08Speaker 4: moments of just like all out fatigue, right, Like you know,
- 29:12Speaker 4: I always reference one moment in particular where and it's
- 29:15Speaker 4: almost like I'm making fun of the show to a
- 29:16Speaker 4: certain degree, but I'm like, yeah, they want you to
- 29:18Speaker 4: make all these you know, life changing decisions, but you
- 29:21Speaker 4: know they've they've got a half gallon of Tito's down
- 29:23Speaker 4: your neck and they throw you on a private jet
- 29:25Speaker 4: to Vegas and then as you as you spend the
- 29:28Speaker 4: you know, the better part of an evening and into
- 29:30Speaker 4: the wee morning hours, they fly you back. And then
- 29:33Speaker 4: when you think you're going to go to bed, they
- 29:35Speaker 4: throw you in a new outfit and say, okay, sit
- 29:36Speaker 4: down and talk about the date, and then we're gonna
- 29:38Speaker 4: go hot air balloon riding at six am. You're like,
- 29:40Speaker 4: what I remember? I remember that in particular. It's like
- 29:44Speaker 4: a force turnaround time for me. That was like, wow,
- 29:48Speaker 4: you know, how am I supposed to you know, even
- 29:51Speaker 4: have conversations at that point, But strangely enough, I guess
- 29:54Speaker 4: I did it.
- 29:54Speaker 5: But you know, yeah, I remember the big stuff.
- 29:57Speaker 4: I think, you know, there's probably some moments that that
- 30:00Speaker 4: that if someone would have told me they happened, I'd
- 30:02Speaker 4: be like, oh, okay, maybe they did, you know, But yeah,
- 30:05Speaker 4: I remember it, and I definitely, you know, I say
- 30:08Speaker 4: I savor some of those moments too, because they were
- 30:11Speaker 4: I think I'm really bad at being in the moment
- 30:14Speaker 4: and realizing that I should really savor that moment, you know.
- 30:18Speaker 5: And and I'm one of those people that.
- 30:20Speaker 4: Just assumes I'll remember it all and it's going to
- 30:23Speaker 4: happen again next time, too, right, And so I'm definitely
- 30:26Speaker 4: not one of the people that pulls out my phone,
- 30:27Speaker 4: much to my wife's chagrin, Like I never am documenting
- 30:30Speaker 4: things which I should. I'm just a guy that's just
- 30:34Speaker 4: in it happened to Blast, and you know, assuming I'm
- 30:36Speaker 4: going to remember it all.
- 30:37Speaker 5: But yeah, I do remember most of the big moments of.
- 30:40Speaker 4: The show, and you know, really treasure the relationships I
- 30:43Speaker 4: made as a result of them.
- 30:44Speaker 3: Did either of you have Bachelor diaries?
- 30:47Speaker 4: No?
- 30:48Speaker 5: I didn't.
- 30:48Speaker 3: Oh my god, is the most embarrassing thing to reread?
- 30:52Speaker 5: Is it? Really?
- 30:54Speaker 1: I have some stuff I wrote down. They're more like prayers.
- 30:58Speaker 1: I was kind of like Bob. I was tired of frustrated,
- 31:00Speaker 1: I was emotional, I was confused, and so a lot
- 31:03Speaker 1: of times it was just like, I need three minutes
- 31:06Speaker 1: to write so I can get some of these thoughts
- 31:09Speaker 1: out of my head onto paper, so I can like
- 31:11Speaker 1: come back tonight and revisit them because I'm not going
- 31:14Speaker 1: to remember why I was all sad today. It's a whirlwind.
- 31:19Speaker 1: In fact, you know, if I was thirty five and single,
- 31:22Speaker 1: I don't know if I could say yes to doing it.
- 31:24Speaker 1: I don't know if I have this, DaMina. There is
- 31:26Speaker 1: one person though that I know, Bob, I relate with that.
- 31:30Speaker 1: But there is one person I think that savored the moment,
- 31:32Speaker 1: and maybe the only lead that I know that really did.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Jojo talks about like how much fun she had and
- 31:41Speaker 1: how enjoyable the experience was. I wish I would have
- 31:45Speaker 1: had more of that mentality. I wish I would enjoyed
- 31:47Speaker 1: it more because it was more like a work, like
- 31:49Speaker 1: I'm going I'm here intentionally to do one thing to
- 31:53Speaker 1: find somebody, and it's going to be hard. The rest
- 31:56Speaker 1: of the way you did have.
- 31:58Speaker 5: I was a hybrid.
- 31:59Speaker 4: I think I was a hybridween you guys, because I
- 32:01Speaker 4: really like, I really enjoyed the moments until they got
- 32:04Speaker 4: really real at the end, and then I felt Then
- 32:07Speaker 4: I felt like it was grueling to try and figure
- 32:09Speaker 4: out the right thing.
- 32:11Speaker 5: I was always weary of hurting people feelings. Yeah, that
- 32:13Speaker 5: was my big thing, Bob.
- 32:25Speaker 1: We are going to dive into the season. There is
- 32:27Speaker 1: a moment that people still talk about Uh, that became
- 32:30Speaker 1: a very big moment for you. During the season. There's
- 32:33Speaker 1: a moment with Kelly Joe where you told her she
- 32:34Speaker 1: isn't the one, and the reaction I think brought in
- 32:39Speaker 1: the audience's attention. Can you tell us more about what
- 32:41Speaker 1: was actually happening?
- 32:43Speaker 4: Yeah, well, you know it was she was of my
- 32:46Speaker 4: final two, and it came down to that moment, you know,
- 32:50Speaker 4: the big the big reveal, when you're standing there surrounded
- 32:53Speaker 4: by flowers and you're in a tuxedo and they're in
- 32:55Speaker 4: they're beautiful gowns, and I mean, truth be told.
- 32:58Speaker 5: Uh. I.
- 33:00Speaker 4: You know, I've often thought about this when people will say,
- 33:02Speaker 4: you know, oh, I don't know how you could be
- 33:04Speaker 4: even confused at that moment.
- 33:06Speaker 5: You know, you either know or you don't.
- 33:07Speaker 4: And and I was still very confused. I was still
- 33:11Speaker 4: kind of trying to put it together, the emotions and
- 33:13Speaker 4: what I was going to do?
- 33:14Speaker 5: Am I going to propose? Am I not? What am
- 33:16Speaker 5: I doing here? You know?
- 33:18Speaker 4: And and back back then the show was a lot
- 33:22Speaker 4: more formulaic in the way that they presented it. You know,
- 33:25Speaker 4: so if if you know when they're cutting the show
- 33:27Speaker 4: together and they know you're choosing girl number two, Well,
- 33:30Speaker 4: then girl number one is going to be for sure
- 33:33Speaker 4: head and shoulders above everyone as the clear favorite, right,
- 33:36Speaker 4: And so it almost was a disservice to the to
- 33:39Speaker 4: the to the woman that you did select, because then
- 33:42Speaker 4: you'd start your relationship and everyone's like, well man, I
- 33:44Speaker 4: mean it looked like you were going to totally be
- 33:46Speaker 4: with you know, this girl, and it almost created this
- 33:49Speaker 4: like weirdness that was really difficult I think for people
- 33:51Speaker 4: to maintain a relationship after that too, because it played
- 33:53Speaker 4: into all your fears and all your you know, your
- 33:56Speaker 4: trepidation about being on the show and was he going
- 33:59Speaker 4: to choose.
- 33:59Speaker 5: Her until just came down the hill or whatever?
- 34:01Speaker 4: But anyway, Yeah, Kelly Joe comes down the hill, and
- 34:04Speaker 4: she's a very bubbly personality, and we definitely.
- 34:07Speaker 5: Cold acted throughout the whole season.
- 34:09Speaker 4: I mean, there was no question Kelly Joe and Estella
- 34:12Speaker 4: who I ended up ultimately choosing or they were the
- 34:16Speaker 4: clear you know, final two, given the way that I
- 34:19Speaker 4: had reacted to them and vice versa. And Kelly Joe
- 34:23Speaker 4: was very spunky to this day, like we've remained friendly.
- 34:26Speaker 4: She's been on almost famous Dogs actually, Yeah, and and
- 34:31Speaker 4: she comes down and.
- 34:34Speaker 5: I you know, they didn't know which order they were
- 34:36Speaker 5: coming down.
- 34:36Speaker 4: They didn't know that Estella hadn't already come down, so
- 34:39Speaker 4: she assumes that she's the one. And when I say,
- 34:42Speaker 4: you know, I'm telling her how great she is, and
- 34:44Speaker 4: I'm like butt, and oh my god. When I say
- 34:48Speaker 4: the word you know, but or however or whatever I said,
- 34:53Speaker 4: she's holding my hands and I remember her just whipping
- 34:56Speaker 4: them down and just looking at me like she was
- 34:58Speaker 4: gonna punch me in the face. And the look was legit,
- 35:01Speaker 4: Like I mean, I was like there was some fear
- 35:04Speaker 4: I'm not gonna lie because she was that spunky and
- 35:06Speaker 4: that fiery, and I was like, oh my god, she's
- 35:08Speaker 4: gonna she's gonna totally punch me out. And she didn't, thankfully.
- 35:12Speaker 4: But then when I said, she like turned around to
- 35:14Speaker 4: walk away, and I'm like, hold on, you know, may
- 35:16Speaker 4: I walk you back to the car and she's like fine,
- 35:19Speaker 4: you know, And you know, that was the first time
- 35:21Speaker 4: I think that the that the reaction was such on
- 35:25Speaker 4: the show, because I was still early on, and I
- 35:28Speaker 4: think up until that point people were sad when they
- 35:31Speaker 4: didn't get the final rows, but they weren't mad. And man,
- 35:35Speaker 4: she was mad, and I'll never forget it because I
- 35:37Speaker 4: was talking about that even when we're going on the
- 35:39Speaker 4: tour to parade around, you know, Estella and I to
- 35:42Speaker 4: talk about our relationship and where we're at with things,
- 35:45Speaker 4: and they're asking about Kelly Joe and why she was
- 35:47Speaker 4: you know, she was all pissed off, and you know,
- 35:49Speaker 4: it was crazy. It was a crazy experience for sure,
- 35:51Speaker 4: and it definitely set the tone for you know, a
- 35:54Speaker 4: lot of things to come after that.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Yeah, have you talked to Escella at all in the
- 35:59Speaker 3: past twenty years?
- 36:00Speaker 4: Oh? Yeah, yeah, Stella, I we we had coffee a
- 36:04Speaker 4: few times and you know, definitely had a nice closure.
- 36:09Speaker 4: I guess it would be too our relationship and she's
- 36:12Speaker 4: been a gust on almost famous the ogs too, because
- 36:14Speaker 4: there was a period of time where we were having
- 36:15Speaker 4: like every ex I've ever had in my life on
- 36:18Speaker 4: the show.
- 36:19Speaker 5: I'm like, Hey, Trista, when are we gonna have Charlie
- 36:21Speaker 5: on What the hell? Yeah?
- 36:23Speaker 1: I still I had I have still yet to do that.
- 36:25Speaker 1: We've had Jojo.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a long time coming, Jojo, it's coming.
- 36:30Speaker 3: You want to do that too.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Remember Nick did that where he had like all of
- 36:34Speaker 2: his season of girls. Come on, do you want to
- 36:36Speaker 2: do that?
- 36:36Speaker 3: Do you want to have all your girls?
- 36:37Speaker 2: Come on?
- 36:38Speaker 3: We can surprise you tomorrow.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Yeah, personally, I for your season and because you have
- 36:44Speaker 2: a Bachelor episode as well, for recapping your season.
- 36:47Speaker 5: Oh my goodness.
- 36:49Speaker 3: So maybe we should just surprise you tomorrow.
- 36:52Speaker 1: There's nothing that would stop me now. I mean I
- 36:54Speaker 1: think I think initially Bob and I sit in the
- 36:57Speaker 1: same place where this experience is very real us, and
- 37:00Speaker 1: I think it is. I think everybody wants it to
- 37:02Speaker 1: be and hopes it is. It isn't always that way.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Some people get out of this and they're like, I,
- 37:08Speaker 1: you know, I don't mind talking all because like nothing
- 37:11Speaker 1: was like actually ever real next, nothing ever was felt,
- 37:14Speaker 1: And so I think when you feel it, it's harder
- 37:16Speaker 1: to then even get to a place where you're like,
- 37:19Speaker 1: I would love to talk to you again, Like that's
- 37:21Speaker 1: not a normal human response to like talking to people
- 37:23Speaker 1: that you've dated. At this point in my life, I
- 37:27Speaker 1: would have no issues because you know, life has moved
- 37:32Speaker 1: on for everybody in beautiful ways, and so now it's like, yeah,
- 37:35Speaker 1: that could be fun, especially people would listen. I would
- 37:39Speaker 1: love to do that.
- 37:40Speaker 4: Well, I think that's a part of it too, though.
- 37:42Speaker 4: You're in a great place, right. It's like when you're
- 37:44Speaker 4: in a great place and they're in a great place,
- 37:46Speaker 4: you know. Like one of the things I loved about
- 37:48Speaker 4: talking to Estella when we did was, you know, she
- 37:50Speaker 4: had gotten engaged and now she's married, and it was like, okay,
- 37:53Speaker 4: you know now and I've got I'm happily married with kids.
- 37:56Speaker 4: It's like, okay, now we can all kumbaya, right, and
- 37:59Speaker 4: we can reminisce and you know, and you keep it
- 38:02Speaker 4: light right. You don't have to you don't have to
- 38:03Speaker 4: go down the rabbit hole on anything because no one,
- 38:05Speaker 4: you know, cares anymore. You don't care, but no reason to,
- 38:09Speaker 4: you know. But yeah, I actually didn't mind it. I
- 38:12Speaker 4: actually was was kind of excited about it, to be honest,
- 38:15Speaker 4: because I knew I was in a good place with
- 38:17Speaker 4: both of them.
- 38:17Speaker 5: So they have them on the show, you know, made.
- 38:20Speaker 4: Me feel i don't know, some some sort of like
- 38:24Speaker 4: you know, accomplishment and some sort of closure. That was
- 38:26Speaker 4: a was a positive thing all the way around, because
- 38:28Speaker 4: we were all in such great places personally.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it's great with me. I mean, I've said it
- 38:33Speaker 1: many times in the show. But you know, Chris Lane
- 38:36Speaker 1: and I text about golf all the time. I think
- 38:39Speaker 1: he's an awesome dude, So like, why not then go
- 38:42Speaker 1: one step further bring him on too. Let's all chat
- 38:44Speaker 1: like it would.
- 38:45Speaker 5: Be fun, It would be.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Great, Bob. This is kind of coming off of our
- 38:50Speaker 1: conversation though, has Kanyon watched your season?
- 38:55Speaker 4: So again, Kenyon was Kenyon's much younger than me. Obviously
- 38:59Speaker 4: she's she's your jelling me. So she just turned forty
- 39:01Speaker 4: one this year, so I think she was a senior
- 39:03Speaker 4: in high school.
- 39:04Speaker 5: Would that be right math wise? Yeah, she was born
- 39:07Speaker 5: in eighty four.
- 39:07Speaker 3: She been freshman in college.
- 39:09Speaker 5: Maybe a freshman college. Okay, So you know, the big
- 39:13Speaker 5: joke always.
- 39:13Speaker 4: Between Canyon and I was that her mom was the
- 39:16Speaker 4: fan of the show and knew who I was.
- 39:17Speaker 5: But Canyon, you know, Kenye didn't care.
- 39:19Speaker 4: So needs to say, I unearthed a few different times
- 39:22Speaker 4: when I caught her actually having some knowledge of things
- 39:24Speaker 4: that she shouldn't have known had she not watched any
- 39:26Speaker 4: of my season.
- 39:27Speaker 5: But yeah, she had never watched it.
- 39:29Speaker 4: So my brother in law and my sister had of
- 39:33Speaker 4: course taped every episode or whatever, but they did it
- 39:35Speaker 4: on TVO. Back in the day that was supposed to
- 39:37Speaker 4: be the new cutting edge technology. It would be around forever.
- 39:40Speaker 4: So we had to dig the TVO out of the
- 39:42Speaker 4: attic and like plug it into a TV because she's like,
- 39:44Speaker 4: I really want to see this. I was super uncomfortable.
- 39:47Speaker 4: I'm not gonna lie. I'm like, oh my god, are you.
- 39:48Speaker 5: Sure you want to see this?
- 39:49Speaker 4: I'm not sure that this is a good idea. And
- 39:51Speaker 4: thankfully and much too like she loves this part. When
- 39:56Speaker 4: we plugged it into the back of the TV, the
- 39:57Speaker 4: connections weren't the same and so it was actually black
- 40:00Speaker 4: and white.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Oh my god. That just fed her narrative.
- 40:05Speaker 4: You know, she's like, oh my, and why don't we
- 40:06Speaker 4: get eight millimeter? I was like, you know, okay on
- 40:09Speaker 4: the show, is there is there solid on this or
- 40:11Speaker 4: was this you know, silent silent Bachelor Day?
- 40:14Speaker 5: But it was, you know, it was pretty funny.
- 40:15Speaker 4: And she watched the first like fifteen minutes of it
- 40:18Speaker 4: and she was like, okay, I'm good because it was like,
- 40:20Speaker 4: you know, they do the this season I'm the Bachelor,
- 40:22Speaker 4: and it's like, you know, the whole thing, and you know,
- 40:26Speaker 4: she got to see me like make out with fifty people,
- 40:28Speaker 4: and so she was over it, you know, but I
- 40:30Speaker 4: think it was one of those.
- 40:31Speaker 5: Things where it was it was definitely.
- 40:33Speaker 4: I'm glad she got a little synopsis because she hears
- 40:35Speaker 4: about it all the time from people, and she can
- 40:38Speaker 4: at least say I watched all I needed to watch
- 40:40Speaker 4: of that season or whatever.
- 40:41Speaker 5: You know.
- 40:43Speaker 4: Her favorite thing to say is, yeah, it's all fun
- 40:44Speaker 4: and games until you live with it, so that's probably
- 40:48Speaker 4: pretty accurate. But no, to answer your question, no, she's
- 40:51Speaker 4: never actually watched my season, but like she says, she's
- 40:55Speaker 4: she's heard enough about it for a lifetime.
- 40:57Speaker 2: So you're telling me that you can't find your season anywhere,
- 41:01Speaker 2: because this is what Prince Lorenzo.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Told us as well.
- 41:05Speaker 5: And Prince Lorenzo bergheasy, I love this.
- 41:07Speaker 2: He came on our podcast and he was like, you
- 41:09Speaker 2: can't find my season anywhere, and I haven't been able to.
- 41:13Speaker 3: And I had no idea that if you have an
- 41:16Speaker 3: old TiVo around you could put it in and kick
- 41:18Speaker 3: start that thing.
- 41:19Speaker 4: He's got to like put some gas in it and
- 41:21Speaker 4: fire it up. Yeah, my I've been told from some
- 41:25Speaker 4: people that was on that were on my season that
- 41:27Speaker 4: you can find it on like you know, the Hulu
- 41:30Speaker 4: annals or something.
- 41:31Speaker 5: Of that nature.
- 41:31Speaker 3: But what's a Hulu annal?
- 41:33Speaker 5: I don't know, like.
- 41:34Speaker 4: You can go somewhere and find it like on old
- 41:36Speaker 4: seasons past. I've never I've never spent too much time
- 41:39Speaker 4: going to look for it. If I'm being really honest,
- 41:42Speaker 4: I know there's some VHS tapes somewhere in my parents'
- 41:45Speaker 4: basement that's uh, you know, got all documented for me
- 41:48Speaker 4: when it's time to show the kids. But actually, to
- 41:51Speaker 4: be really funny, you guys, you got so my son Grayson,
- 41:53Speaker 4: who's six. I I know Ben probably has heard me
- 41:57Speaker 4: talk about this before, but my son is really he's
- 42:00Speaker 4: he's a big personality.
- 42:01Speaker 5: And I don't know where he gets it from.
- 42:03Speaker 4: And we were literally like we'll be at McDonald's at
- 42:06Speaker 4: the playland and they'll be playing and I'll order, like,
- 42:08Speaker 4: you know, a coffee and a couple of happy meals, right,
- 42:11Speaker 4: and the woman will come over with the tray, you know,
- 42:15Speaker 4: with the coffee and the happy meals, and he'll be
- 42:17Speaker 4: on the playscape and he'll go.
- 42:19Speaker 5: It's him. Yeah, you can get a picture with him
- 42:21Speaker 5: if you want.
- 42:22Speaker 4: It's it's Bachelor Bob, or he'll or he'll call me
- 42:25Speaker 4: Bob the Builder.
- 42:26Speaker 5: He'll go, it's Bob the Builder.
- 42:27Speaker 4: He'll interchange them all the time, and I'm just like,
- 42:30Speaker 4: oh my gosh. And I'm like, honey, he's dropping off
- 42:33Speaker 4: a coffee, she's dropping off the happy meal.
- 42:36Speaker 5: Bro.
- 42:36Speaker 4: She doesn't she's twelve. She doesn't know who I am,
- 42:39Speaker 4: you know. But it's like, he loves it. If anyone
- 42:42Speaker 4: stops to talk to me, like to ask for directions,
- 42:44Speaker 4: like I swear to you, he'll go, he'll take a
- 42:47Speaker 4: picture with you.
- 42:47Speaker 5: Yeah, he'll do it.
- 42:48Speaker 4: Hey that they want to, I'm like, buddy, they're asking
- 42:51Speaker 4: if you know seven eleven's up here on the corner.
- 42:53Speaker 5: They're good.
- 42:54Speaker 4: So it's become comical to me because my wife like
- 42:57Speaker 4: loves it. And I think he gets some of his
- 43:00Speaker 4: sense of humor from his mom because she likes to
- 43:01Speaker 4: put me in uncomfortable spots. But yeah, I think it'll
- 43:05Speaker 4: be fun someday, you know, to let them see some
- 43:08Speaker 4: of that stuff. I hope I can hang.
- 43:11Speaker 2: On to mind it. I've been trying to search right
- 43:12Speaker 2: now while you've been telling the story. And that's a
- 43:15Speaker 2: hilarious story and I'm obsessed with it. And yeah, if
- 43:17Speaker 2: you want to download illegal things. We could definitely get it.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Why can't just ABC give us these things? I want
- 43:23Speaker 2: the full series on DVD as well.
- 43:25Speaker 5: Well, no, you think they would like they'd want it
- 43:27Speaker 5: out there.
- 43:27Speaker 2: I don't know what I want is all the footage
- 43:30Speaker 2: from Jared and My Paradise that never made air, Like
- 43:33Speaker 2: I want to see all the embarrassing the.
- 43:35Speaker 5: Cutting room floor. I bet there were so many great moments.
- 43:38Speaker 5: I don't know why.
- 43:39Speaker 4: You know, we didn't know each other then, obviously, but
- 43:41Speaker 4: I remember feeling such a I was so happy for
- 43:46Speaker 4: you when you guys finally and you knew it all along,
- 43:50Speaker 4: and I was always like, God, I was like, I
- 43:52Speaker 4: felt like we were such good friends then.
- 43:54Speaker 5: And it's funny.
- 43:55Speaker 4: I see why people like gravitate to certain people from
- 43:58Speaker 4: the show, because I would the same way. I was
- 44:00Speaker 4: like fangirling all over you.
- 44:02Speaker 5: I was like, oh my god, I love it. You know,
- 44:03Speaker 5: this is so great that they're together. Yeah, I thank you.
- 44:07Speaker 5: You're very welcome.
- 44:19Speaker 2: Bob Gott to end with this fun questions about the
- 44:24Speaker 2: delivery room, because that, of course, is going to be
- 44:27Speaker 2: in that room within the next thirty days.
- 44:30Speaker 3: I want to know.
- 44:31Speaker 5: I'm so excited for you.
- 44:32Speaker 3: Ben let's get a little dad perspective.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Yeah, what was something in the delivery room that you
- 44:38Speaker 2: didn't expect, something about getting to the hospital or anything
- 44:42Speaker 2: like that.
- 44:42Speaker 5: Yeah, well, you know, we had been given so much advice.
- 44:44Speaker 4: We were living in Seattle at the time, and Kenyon
- 44:47Speaker 4: is a tough chick, and so like, you know, she
- 44:50Speaker 4: wouldn't even really let on that she was, you know,
- 44:54Speaker 4: having minor contractions and everything, because we were told, like,
- 44:57Speaker 4: the last thing you want to do is be early
- 44:59Speaker 4: to the hospital. They'll send you home, make sure you're
- 45:02Speaker 4: you know, you make sure you're in the right place.
- 45:04Speaker 5: When you get there.
- 45:05Speaker 4: And so we might have waited a little too long
- 45:08Speaker 4: because the Lions were playing and I was you know,
- 45:12Speaker 4: it was it was December. It was December second technically,
- 45:15Speaker 4: but she didn't deliver till a third.
- 45:18Speaker 5: But I was like, oh no, you know, they said
- 45:20Speaker 5: we can wait. You know, I was trying to be casual.
- 45:21Speaker 4: I had my go bag, was ready, I was good
- 45:23Speaker 4: to go, you know, and but I was trying to
- 45:26Speaker 4: like prolong it a little because we actually lived relatively
- 45:29Speaker 4: close to the hospital too. So I will say this,
- 45:33Speaker 4: when we got to the hospital, it got real fast,
- 45:37Speaker 4: you know, like even though she hadn't delivered, she didn't
- 45:39Speaker 4: deliver for a while, and I was just all of
- 45:43Speaker 4: a sudden, I mean, don't you know, and Ben, there
- 45:45Speaker 4: is no one and Ashley and I have talked about
- 45:47Speaker 4: this before. There is no one born to be a
- 45:50Speaker 4: dad more Higgins. I mean, there's no one more more
- 45:54Speaker 4: and I and I think of myself as this is
- 45:56Speaker 4: my calling too, and I think you're like HEAs and
- 45:59Speaker 4: shoulders above me. So I feel like, no matter what,
- 46:03Speaker 4: you're not ready for it. Okay, So let's just get
- 46:05Speaker 4: that out of the way. Then you get there, and
- 46:08Speaker 4: you'll you'll never love your wife more than in that moment,
- 46:12Speaker 4: and then you'll never love anyone more than that baby
- 46:16Speaker 4: from that point on in your life. It's like it
- 46:19Speaker 4: changed my life, honestly, God cry. Then you'll be a
- 46:24Speaker 4: mess like me, you know.
- 46:25Speaker 1: I know I will. That's the part I'm holding on too.
- 46:27Speaker 1: I'm doing every like masculine, non emotional.
- 46:31Speaker 5: Thing up until yeah, because because then your life's over.
- 46:36Speaker 5: Then you're a total puddle like me every time I
- 46:38Speaker 5: talk about my kids.
- 46:38Speaker 1: But yeah, I'm just going to be a mess.
- 46:41Speaker 5: But I'll say this, you know.
- 46:42Speaker 4: So Canyon was going to try and deliver naturally, and
- 46:45Speaker 4: so she went through all of it and then all
- 46:49Speaker 4: of a sudden they're like, nope, uh, we're gonna have
- 46:51Speaker 4: to go see section right.
- 46:52Speaker 5: So we go in. I'm expecting.
- 46:55Speaker 4: I'm super stoked because now I'm going to get scrubs
- 46:59Speaker 4: and so this, for whatever reason, was my primary thing.
- 47:01Speaker 4: I'm like, wait, can I you know, so my scrubbing in,
- 47:03Speaker 4: am I you know, am I getting the blue hat?
- 47:05Speaker 5: And and I don't. I don't get any of that.
- 47:08Speaker 4: They threw me like this yellow plastic shirt, and I,
- 47:12Speaker 4: you know, I wasn't in the greatest shape, and they're like,
- 47:14Speaker 4: you know, you got to take off your shirt cause
- 47:15Speaker 4: you're gonna be the skin on skin.
- 47:16Speaker 5: I'm like what. And I wasn't prepared for any of that.
- 47:19Speaker 5: And so we go in. I'm in this horrible clown outfit.
- 47:22Speaker 4: And I feel like I'm really feeling like I got
- 47:24Speaker 4: shafted on that regard. But I'm right up there and
- 47:28Speaker 4: they're like, you know, well, where do you want to be.
- 47:29Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm a shoulders guy. I'm up here, you know.
- 47:32Speaker 4: And so that was number one. But then Kenyon, I'll
- 47:36Speaker 4: never forget it. Kanyon started having like almost like she
- 47:39Speaker 4: was in shock, like she started shaking really bad.
- 47:42Speaker 3: That's very common.
- 47:43Speaker 5: Is that common?
- 47:44Speaker 3: Yes, my sister in law just had one and she goes.
- 47:46Speaker 2: I was shivering while being caught open. Yeah, convulsing, she
- 47:52Speaker 2: said it revulsing, So be prepared if she needs a
- 47:54Speaker 2: sea section.
- 47:55Speaker 5: I'm like, oh my god.
- 47:57Speaker 4: When they pulled Grace making him out right now, oh yeah,
- 48:00Speaker 4: they pulled Grayceon out and they take him over to
- 48:02Speaker 4: this warming station and they're cleaning them up and they're
- 48:04Speaker 4: like okay Dad, and I am crazy wanting to be there,
- 48:09Speaker 4: but I can't leave canyon.
- 48:11Speaker 5: So I'm just like I'm just staying here.
- 48:12Speaker 4: And I'm like, okay, you know, all the fingers, all talls,
- 48:16Speaker 4: you everything good. They're like yeah, I'm like you got that.
- 48:19Speaker 4: I'll be there as soon as she's okay. I just
- 48:21Speaker 4: don't want to leave her because someone come over and
- 48:22Speaker 4: help her. And because I was, I was all of
- 48:24Speaker 4: a sudden like I don't want to leave her alone.
- 48:25Speaker 4: And she's looking at me like you know, don't go,
- 48:27Speaker 4: and I'm like, oh, you know. I was like is
- 48:30Speaker 4: torn And it was like I wasn't expecting. No one
- 48:32Speaker 4: coaches you on that part either. And but the second
- 48:35Speaker 4: I could, I went raced over to Grayson and was
- 48:39Speaker 4: just like, you know, oh, I know, laid down and
- 48:41Speaker 4: he was on my chest and I realized, now why
- 48:43Speaker 4: I'm in this giant zipperd clown out that I guess,
- 48:46Speaker 4: But it was one of those moments where it's like,
- 48:48Speaker 4: you know, all of a sudden everything makes sense.
- 48:51Speaker 5: It's like, Okay, now I know why I was in
- 48:54Speaker 5: love with this person and wanted to marry her. And
- 48:56Speaker 5: now now I get. If I didn't know before, I
- 48:58Speaker 5: sure know now you know.
- 48:59Speaker 4: And it's like this is it, this is what we're
- 49:01Speaker 4: supposed to do, and and uh yeah, it's crazy.
- 49:05Speaker 3: That's so sweet.
- 49:06Speaker 5: Oh my god, I'm so excited for you, dude, I'm
- 49:08Speaker 5: so excited for you.
- 49:10Speaker 4: She did.
- 49:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:11Speaker 4: When we had the second one, well, first of all,
- 49:14Speaker 4: Blake's you know, Blake.
- 49:16Speaker 5: Came out with like a Marty gras head.
- 49:17Speaker 4: So it's kind of like you know, your kids, like
- 49:20Speaker 4: he's like, is.
- 49:21Speaker 5: That a giant balloon? The way?
- 49:25Speaker 4: You know, he's finally growing into it a little, but uh,
- 49:27Speaker 4: you know, no, it's one of those things like there's
- 49:31Speaker 4: no way, there's no way.
- 49:33Speaker 5: That Blake was going to come out naturally, but you know,
- 49:36Speaker 5: that's just it. That's just it.
- 49:37Speaker 4: But yeah, I mean I will say this, man, it
- 49:39Speaker 4: is I'm excited for you guys. I mean, Jess is
- 49:42Speaker 4: such a beautiful and wonderful soul and so are you,
- 49:45Speaker 4: and your kid is going to be.
- 49:48Speaker 5: So incredibly special. I mean, it's it's just.
- 49:51Speaker 4: And I love how I really do love this, Ashley,
- 49:54Speaker 4: how you and Jared have you know, really kind of
- 49:57Speaker 4: brought Dawson along for the ride in some of those moments,
- 50:00Speaker 4: and it's like, I love that you guys do that,
- 50:02Speaker 4: and it's it's always to me, like, that's been so
- 50:05Speaker 4: much fun for me with our boys, is when we
- 50:07Speaker 4: can stop them from being the hell out of each
- 50:09Speaker 4: other and actually seeing them hug each other once in
- 50:11Speaker 4: a while, which does happen too. You know, I'm so
- 50:15Speaker 4: thankful that it's all worked out the way that it has.
- 50:18Speaker 4: So I always say this when people are like, you know,
- 50:19Speaker 4: would you do it all over again if they ask
- 50:21Speaker 4: you to be the Bachelor? And I'm like, because of
- 50:22Speaker 4: the way my life has turned out, my answer is
- 50:25Speaker 4: absolutely yes, because I believe firmly that we go through
- 50:28Speaker 4: all this stuff to end up where we end up, right,
- 50:31Speaker 4: and so had I had I it's a butterfly effect
- 50:33Speaker 4: that I've done anything differently, I wouldn't be sitting where
- 50:35Speaker 4: I'm sitting.
- 50:36Speaker 5: I wouldn't be talking to you guys.
- 50:37Speaker 4: I wouldn't have these two beautiful kids and a beautiful
- 50:39Speaker 4: wife and a life that I'm so thankful to have.
- 50:42Speaker 5: And so it's like, you know, yeah.
- 50:43Speaker 4: I think I think the I think uh, you know,
- 50:46Speaker 4: Lacey Pemberton every day for staying on that casting call
- 50:49Speaker 4: when I basically had said, I'm I'm good, thanks, don't
- 50:52Speaker 4: want to do anything with you guys, And and I'm
- 50:55Speaker 4: so thankful because I I have had the best ride
- 50:57Speaker 4: as a result of it.
