Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: Good morning. I'm John North here to start this morning
- 0:08Speaker 1: with you as I do each weekday morning at this time,
- 0:11Speaker 1: as we focus on the most important thing at the
- 0:15Speaker 1: beginning of every day, which is our relationship with God.
- 0:20Speaker 1: We need to learn as soon as we wake up
- 0:23Speaker 1: to say good morning Lord and to begin a daylong
- 0:29Speaker 1: conversation with God.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Not that you're always talking, but that you have those
- 0:33Speaker 1: communication lines open and you begin the day with a
- 0:36Speaker 1: focused time listening to God as you open the Bible,
- 0:41Speaker 1: speaking to Him in prayer. So let's focus our minds
- 0:44Speaker 1: now and would you just pray in your heart even
- 0:48Speaker 1: as you are listening to the radio and say, Lord.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I'm listening.
- 0:54Speaker 1: What do you have to say to me today?
- 0:58Speaker 1: We're looking this week at the theme of becoming strong
- 1:03Speaker 1: in the Lord. We saw yesterday that we need to
- 1:06Speaker 1: learn to just be quiet and listen for God's still
- 1:11Speaker 1: small voice. He came to Elijah, not in the massive
- 1:15Speaker 1: wind that was ripping the mountain apart, not in the earthquake,
- 1:19Speaker 1: but in the gentle blowing.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Well, today we come to the New Testament to the
- 1:27Speaker 1: Book of 2 Corinthians chapter 9, and Paul's in the
- 1:31Speaker 1: middle of talking about how we use our finances, and
- 1:36Speaker 1: he shows us that really that is so closely connected
- 1:41Speaker 1: to our spiritual lives. He says, now this I say.
- 1:47Speaker 1: He who sows sparingly, talking about financial giving, giving into
- 1:53Speaker 1: the work of the kingdom of God, he who sows
- 1:57Speaker 1: sparingly shall also reap sparingly.
- 2:01Speaker 1: And he who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully and
- 2:06Speaker 1: if you sow your finances and giving into the kingdom
- 2:10Speaker 1: of God.
- 2:11Speaker 1: What do you reap? Well, keep listening.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Let each one do just as he has purposed in
- 2:17Speaker 1: his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves
- 2:21Speaker 1: a cheerful giver.
- 2:24Speaker 1: And God is able to make all grace abound to
- 2:27Speaker 1: you that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may
- 2:32Speaker 1: have an abundance. Why for every good deed. That's why
- 2:38Speaker 1: God blesses your business, so you'll have an abundance for
- 2:41Speaker 1: every good deed as it is written. He scattered abroad.
- 2:44Speaker 1: He gave to the poor. His righteousness abides forever.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Now he that is God who supplies seed to the sower.
- 2:55Speaker 1: And bread for food will supply and multiply your seed,
- 2:59Speaker 1: your money for sowing into the kingdom of God.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And will increase the harvest and what harvest comes when
- 3:09Speaker 1: we learn to give sacrificially to build God's kingdom in
- 3:13Speaker 1: this world.
- 3:15Speaker 1: He will increase the harvest of your righteousness, um.
- 3:22Speaker 1: If you want to grow strong in the Lord, learn
- 3:25Speaker 1: to be a giver. Don't hoard your money for yourself
- 3:30Speaker 1: or just to have this beautiful retirement. Learn to be
- 3:34Speaker 1: a giver, someone who throughout your life, not just after
- 3:38Speaker 1: you die.
- 3:40Speaker 1: But throughout your life is giving, investing in what God
- 3:45Speaker 1: is doing in this world. Those who honour me, I
- 3:48Speaker 1: will honour, says the Lord.
- 3:51Speaker 1: God wants to be involved in your finances. Christianity is personal,
- 3:59Speaker 1: purse and all.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I'm John North.
