- 0:00Speaker 1: Next on The Potter's Touch, we turn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: On TV and we go to places where smart people
- 0:06Speaker 2: are supposed to think big ideas, and we're watching on
- 0:09Speaker 2: ms NBC or Fox or seeing here.
- 0:12Speaker 1: And we're waiting for a big idea and all we
- 0:15Speaker 1: do is.
- 0:16Speaker 3: See it but to little people down there boxing each
- 0:18Speaker 3: other day after day after day after day.
- 0:21Speaker 2: And yet we have big problems and big issues and
- 0:24Speaker 2: big circumstances and big crisis and we.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Don't have time to get into little.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Fights when you've got big problems to res all. We've
- 0:32Speaker 2: got a goliath to killgether the.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Hello.
- 0:58Speaker 5: You are watching The Potter's Touch, and I am your host,
- 1:01Speaker 5: Sarah Henson. I am so excited for this opportunity to
- 1:05Speaker 5: share with you a message that truly bless our congregation.
- 1:09Speaker 5: What's the big idea? Sometimes we have our own plans,
- 1:13Speaker 5: but we know that God has something for us that
- 1:16Speaker 5: may exceed.
- 1:17Speaker 4: What we have for ourselves.
- 1:19Speaker 5: Okay, so it's time for you to figure out what's
- 1:22Speaker 5: the big idea that God has for your life.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Take a look at this message.
- 1:27Speaker 2: A friend of mine says, it's all the time, and
- 1:28Speaker 2: it's true. It's hard to be big when little's got
- 1:31Speaker 2: you it's hard to be big when little's got you.
- 1:41Speaker 2: When little's got you. You can be in a big
- 1:44Speaker 2: situation and have a big opportunity, and have a big chance,
- 1:49Speaker 2: and have a big door open under you, but you
- 1:52Speaker 2: either won't go through it or you'll ruin it when
- 1:55Speaker 2: you get in it, because you are too little for
- 1:59Speaker 2: the big opportunity that's been extended under you. There is
- 2:05Speaker 2: nothing worse than to see a little man in a
- 2:09Speaker 2: big position.
- 2:15Speaker 1: They don't know how to handle it. They lord it,
- 2:18Speaker 1: they abuse it, they misuse it, they mess it up.
- 2:22Speaker 1: They got a complex.
- 2:24Speaker 2: They've got to show off and tell you everything, and
- 2:27Speaker 2: they've got.
- 2:28Speaker 1: A big opportunity.
- 2:29Speaker 2: But because they are little people, eventually, if you put
- 2:36Speaker 2: a little person in a big spot, they will lose
- 2:40Speaker 2: the spot because they're too little for the opportunity.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Thank you, Lord for the things that you held batch.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Thank you Lord for not.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Letting me catch any fish before I was able to
- 2:54Speaker 2: handle it. I'm glad I told all night and didn't
- 2:57Speaker 2: catch anything, because you knew if I caught it up,
- 3:00Speaker 2: I was gonna mess it up. Thank you Lord for
- 3:02Speaker 2: holding it back till I'm matured enough to be able
- 3:05Speaker 2: to handle the stress. Load of standing on the place
- 3:08Speaker 2: I'm standing right? Is there anybody in here that looks
- 3:11Speaker 2: like I said, Lord, I thank you that you didn't
- 3:14Speaker 2: answer my earlier prayers. I would have messed that up
- 3:17Speaker 2: real good. I wasn't ready for that. I didn't have
- 3:20Speaker 2: any idea what I was stepping into. It's hard to
- 3:24Speaker 2: be big when little's got you. I've seen some little
- 3:30Speaker 2: people in height that were big in thought, and I've
- 3:37Speaker 2: seen some big people.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Who had little faults.
- 3:45Speaker 2: It's so terrible to be led by somebody with little thoughts,
- 3:52Speaker 2: guided by somebody with little foughts. It's hard to be
- 3:58Speaker 2: in love with soody with little thoughts, all handsome less.
- 4:07Speaker 2: It could be just beauty, just handsome, she just as
- 4:11Speaker 2: voluptuous as you please.
- 4:13Speaker 1: And you're all caught up. My hand, did it? You're
- 4:16Speaker 1: all caught up.
- 4:17Speaker 2: You're all caught up and uh with the externals.
- 4:22Speaker 1: But you don't marry the box. You marry the content.
- 4:26Speaker 1: And then you find out.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Little people don't warn you that they're little people. Their
- 4:46Speaker 2: behavior tells you that they are little people. Little people
- 4:54Speaker 2: have little thoughts, have little ideas, have little goals, fight
- 5:02Speaker 2: big battles for little rewards. Little people will fall out
- 5:09Speaker 2: with you about things that make no sense because they
- 5:16Speaker 2: always major on the minor and minor on the major.
- 5:26Speaker 2: When you start talking about big ideas, it's it's global thinking.
- 5:36Speaker 2: It's global thinking. It's it's a panoramic view. It's the
- 5:41Speaker 2: big picture. It's priorities, it's what really counts, it's what's
- 5:52Speaker 2: really significant. It's about purpose and not problems. It's about
- 6:00Speaker 2: the higher issue our world.
- 6:03Speaker 1: They is stuck.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Entrenched in little issues, little resolvable issues are taking up
- 6:12Speaker 2: big amounts of time because we've got people with little
- 6:15Speaker 2: ideas and they can't see the bigger issue of what
- 6:18Speaker 2: is better for our country, better.
- 6:20Speaker 3: For our world.
- 6:21Speaker 2: And so we turn on TV and we go to
- 6:24Speaker 2: places where smart people are supposed to think big ideas,
- 6:27Speaker 2: and we're watching on NBC or Fox or seeing here,
- 6:32Speaker 2: and we're waiting for a big idea, and all we.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Do is see a but tendental people down there boxing
- 6:37Speaker 3: each other day after day after day after day. And
- 6:40Speaker 3: yet we have big problems and big issues and big
- 6:43Speaker 3: circumstances and big crisis and we don't have time to
- 6:47Speaker 3: get into little fights when you've got big problems to resolve.
- 6:52Speaker 3: We've got a goliath to.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Kill, still to come the Potter's tax.
- 7:02Speaker 2: If you want to turn your life around completely, you
- 7:05Speaker 2: will never turn your life around with little thinking. Little
- 7:12Speaker 2: thinking will make you stubborn and angry, and it will
- 7:17Speaker 2: make you so intent on winning the battle that you
- 7:22Speaker 2: mess around and lose the whole war. It is possible
- 7:27Speaker 2: to win the battle and lose the war. Everybody's being
- 7:33Speaker 2: promoted but you. Everybody's being recognized with you. Everybody's being
- 7:39Speaker 2: loved but you.
- 7:40Speaker 6: Your opposition is your opportunity. When you ask, what's the
- 7:43Speaker 6: big idea?
- 7:44Speaker 2: You got talert but you're overlooked, and God allowed it
- 7:48Speaker 2: to be song because that's power and being overlooked. When
- 7:52Speaker 2: you've been held back a long time and you finally
- 7:56Speaker 2: do get an opportunity to get a release, you say,
- 7:59Speaker 2: I'm gonna live on.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Purpose full by the hot dinner.
- 8:04Speaker 6: We'd like to give you. Bishop jake'son luminating message. Wants
- 8:07Speaker 6: the Big Idea on DVD? Just visit our website. We're
- 8:10Speaker 6: come one eight hundred Bishop to today.
- 8:23Speaker 2: I'll never forget. Several years ago somebody made me, uh
- 8:30Speaker 2: orange man, Orange is past red. If you got a
- 8:37Speaker 2: gas stove, you know them little orange tips right at
- 8:40Speaker 2: the top. That's how hot I was. If you don't
- 8:45Speaker 2: believe that's hot, stick your hand right over there. Don't
- 8:48Speaker 2: go for the blue, go for the orange. Get right
- 8:50Speaker 2: up in that orange there.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I was the fire. I was a blaze.
- 8:57Speaker 2: And I got a chance to talk to him on
- 8:59Speaker 2: the FO and they said he's on the phone, and
- 9:02Speaker 2: I ran to the phone with suppress ray. I said, Oh,
- 9:07Speaker 2: we're gonna have it today. I lit in on him
- 9:13Speaker 2: like ugly on I hate. I was riding him like
- 9:20Speaker 2: a kid, well on a ferris wheel, up and down
- 9:23Speaker 2: the road.
- 9:24Speaker 1: We're going down now we go it up.
- 9:31Speaker 2: And right in the middle of the argument, I lost interest,
- 9:42Speaker 2: I really did. I lost interest because when we got
- 9:49Speaker 2: to arguing, I realized that I was arguing with somebody
- 9:54Speaker 2: who thinks like a toddler.
- 10:00Speaker 1: And I felt like a grown man.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Fighting a kid in a nursery. Because when we begin
- 10:10Speaker 2: to communicate, I begin to understand that his thinking was
- 10:15Speaker 2: so here that I was wasting my licks punching all
- 10:20Speaker 2: up here. I was punching where he should be, and
- 10:25Speaker 2: he was talking where he is. He was hitting me
- 10:28Speaker 2: all in machines and all in my ankle bones and stuff,
- 10:32Speaker 2: ready to cuss me out and everything, and I was
- 10:35Speaker 2: punching all over top of where his head should have
- 10:39Speaker 2: been if he'd have been taking up here, And all
- 10:42Speaker 2: of a sudden, I just said, that's all right, it's okay, man,
- 10:48Speaker 2: I'm good because I had thought of some really significant
- 10:55Speaker 2: things to say to defend my position.
- 11:04Speaker 1: But a big idea.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Used on a little person is a wasted punch, and
- 11:16Speaker 2: I lost interest in it. Sometimes I get on Twitter
- 11:20Speaker 2: and I'll have like an hour or two I'm just goofing,
- 11:23Speaker 2: and I'll get on there and just start a discussion,
- 11:26Speaker 2: and sometimes you really get good stuff back, and sometimes
- 11:35Speaker 2: you know, you just get something back. And people are
- 11:42Speaker 2: being trained today to think so small. They're being trained.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Those who control the media and the airwaves are feeding
- 11:52Speaker 2: a steady diet of little thinking. Oh please please hear me,
- 12:00Speaker 2: a steady, perpetual, twenty four hour news cycle of little thinking,
- 12:06Speaker 2: where we major on things that are not relative to
- 12:09Speaker 2: the destiny of our people and our civilization. And little
- 12:14Speaker 2: thinking may be entertaining, but it's not revolutionary. If you
- 12:22Speaker 2: want to turn your life around completely, you will never
- 12:26Speaker 2: turn your life around with little thinking. Little thinking will
- 12:32Speaker 2: make you stubborn and angry, and it will make you
- 12:37Speaker 2: so intent on winning the battle that you mess around
- 12:42Speaker 2: and lose the whole war. It is possible to win
- 12:47Speaker 2: the battle and lose the war. It is possible to
- 12:53Speaker 2: show how indignant and how stubborn you are.
- 12:57Speaker 1: And you ain't gonna get the last word of.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Me, only to realize that that's not even the point.
- 13:07Speaker 2: God does big thinking, and he's calling for us to
- 13:14Speaker 2: do big thinking. And even when we do our biggest thoughts,
- 13:19Speaker 2: our thoughts are still foolishness compared to his thoughts. So
- 13:23Speaker 2: you know what happens when we think small. Joseph is
- 13:29Speaker 2: in a situation here where he has been given his
- 13:34Speaker 2: destiny and purpose at an early age, and God, through
- 13:39Speaker 2: a dream lets him know that I have chosen you
- 13:44Speaker 2: to be in a position of power and leadership. I'm
- 13:49Speaker 2: going to give you power. Give you power. Whenever God
- 13:53Speaker 2: says he's going to give you power, Get ready for pain.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Pain is what God gives with power to keep you
- 14:05Speaker 2: from arrogance. You will never become intoxicated by the power
- 14:12Speaker 2: he had allocated because you have to deal with the
- 14:15Speaker 2: distraction of the pain that is dispensed with.
- 14:18Speaker 1: The power He told me you want to rain. And
- 14:22Speaker 1: he said, oh, I had a dream.
- 14:23Speaker 2: And he comes tell all his brother his great, big, old,
- 14:26Speaker 2: powerful dream. And they hated him, and they said, because
- 14:39Speaker 2: of your purpose, we have despised you. And they snatched
- 14:45Speaker 2: him and they put him in a pit. They threw
- 14:49Speaker 2: him in a pit, took his coat of many colors,
- 14:52Speaker 2: dipped the coat in blood. They lied on him, told
- 14:58Speaker 2: his father he would be if you think people won't
- 15:02Speaker 2: lie on you. You know the old saying that there's
- 15:09Speaker 2: always the little truth in every life. That's not true.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Joseph wasn't even sick. He didn't even have a cold.
- 15:15Speaker 2: They said he was dead. Some lines had no foundation
- 15:21Speaker 2: in add on all and all of a sudden, through
- 15:26Speaker 2: something that he had nothing to do with, the middle
- 15:30Speaker 2: part of his life, the biggest part of his life
- 15:35Speaker 2: was consumed by a lie. And he finds himself down
- 15:43Speaker 2: in a pit, half naked, no food, no water, vulnerable
- 15:49Speaker 2: and at the mercy of life, probably expecting to die
- 15:55Speaker 2: in a hole like an animal, waiting to get out.
- 16:02Speaker 2: And whenever you go through something that takes you down,
- 16:04Speaker 2: there's always somebody there to say.
- 16:06Speaker 1: What did you do to bring this on yourself?
- 16:12Speaker 2: When injustices occur, we always look for logic. We are
- 16:18Speaker 2: such rational people. We try to reason, how did this happen?
- 16:25Speaker 2: Why are you leaving me? I was good to you?
- 16:29Speaker 2: Why why do you treat me like that? I've been
- 16:31Speaker 2: good to you. Why are you cheating on me? I've
- 16:35Speaker 2: been good to you? Why we look for logic to life.
- 16:41Speaker 2: If you look for logic, you're gonna go crazy, because life, actually,
- 16:49Speaker 2: like it drank a fifth of Gordon's gin. You get
- 16:55Speaker 2: a good fifth in you. You might say anything. It
- 16:57Speaker 2: doesn't even make any sense. You just you. I've seen
- 17:00Speaker 2: Oldrunk go to crying. They don't even know what they
- 17:02Speaker 2: was laughing a minute agoing. You know, my mama died
- 17:06Speaker 2: and you think she just died thirty years ago.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Mom.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Every time Joseph thought things were gonna get better than
- 17:18Speaker 2: many knights came down there and they bought him for
- 17:21Speaker 2: twenty pieces of silver and brought him out, and he thought,
- 17:24Speaker 2: at least I'm out of the pit. You know, I'm enslaved,
- 17:27Speaker 2: but I'm out of the pit. And when you've been
- 17:30Speaker 2: down real low, bad looks good. Some of y'all don't know,
- 17:36Speaker 2: because you've never really been down. But when you've been
- 17:40Speaker 2: down real low. You can't trust your own judgment because
- 17:43Speaker 2: bad will look good when you've been real lonely. Can't
- 17:51Speaker 2: nobody even hug you in church? Because can't nobody just
- 17:54Speaker 2: smile at you anything? Because any sign of attention or
- 17:59Speaker 2: affection or admiration or anything like that, you don't even evaluate.
- 18:04Speaker 2: I don't know this person, I don't know. You're just
- 18:06Speaker 2: so desperate for any sign of hope that you done
- 18:10Speaker 2: fell in love because they handed you the community stuff.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Oh the moment I thought of.
- 18:20Speaker 2: When you know you're vulnerable, you can't trust your own
- 18:23Speaker 2: judgment because terrible makes bad look good. So you thought
- 18:31Speaker 2: things were getting better. And he went to work for
- 18:34Speaker 2: Potiphar's house, and for season things were going really good.
- 18:38Speaker 2: And then they lied on him again. They lied on
- 18:42Speaker 2: him before, and now they're lying on him again, and
- 18:46Speaker 2: they lied on him and everything turned bad. Lied before,
- 18:52Speaker 2: lied again to keep lying. It feels like a cycle.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Have you ever gone through something that you say, this
- 19:02Speaker 2: is just another version of something I went through before?
- 19:07Speaker 2: And the names have changed. You know, last time we
- 19:16Speaker 2: was on to highway. This time it's in the alley.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Last time we're on the bridge. This time we're on
- 19:21Speaker 2: the front porch. But it's the same cycle of pain.
- 19:26Speaker 2: And if you're not careful, you will mistake the process
- 19:31Speaker 2: to be your purpose. You will think that the process
- 19:38Speaker 2: is your purpose, and you will misalign yourself with your
- 19:41Speaker 2: process and say, I'm not supposed to have it any better.
- 19:45Speaker 2: And even if God were to offer you something better,
- 19:47Speaker 2: you would not be attracted to it because you have
- 19:49Speaker 2: fallen in love with the process and not the promise
- 19:55Speaker 2: and not the purpose. Every time he went up, he
- 19:58Speaker 2: went back down again. And but now he's running from
- 20:03Speaker 2: Potterfard's wife, who she's this crazy broad, is chasing him
- 20:08Speaker 2: around the bed and out the door and through the window,
- 20:10Speaker 2: and he's trying to hold onto his job because the
- 20:12Speaker 2: brother like him needs a job and trying to make good.
- 20:16Speaker 2: You know how, when you've been down and you get
- 20:18Speaker 2: a chance of good, you're holding on the good for
- 20:20Speaker 2: dear life. And now she'd have messed around and he
- 20:22Speaker 2: didn't lost his chance, said good behind something that he
- 20:26Speaker 2: didn't even want her no way, and she was tripping
- 20:29Speaker 2: and she lied. And now he's in jail through no
- 20:32Speaker 2: fault of his own. And he's sitting up here just
- 20:35Speaker 2: looking at his life, you know, just saying how in
- 20:39Speaker 2: the world did I get here. I thought that by
- 20:42Speaker 2: this age I would be so much further. I thought
- 20:48Speaker 2: that by this age I would be here. When I
- 20:51Speaker 2: was a little kid, I did not say this is
- 20:54Speaker 2: what I wanted to be. I didn't sign up to
- 20:56Speaker 2: live life like this. I didn't sign up to deal
- 20:59Speaker 2: with the issues I'm doing dealing with right now. I
- 21:01Speaker 2: didn't sign up for any of this at all. I
- 21:04Speaker 2: did not sign up to go through this kind of hell.
- 21:08Speaker 2: This is not what I was created to be, but
- 21:12Speaker 2: this is where I am. Maybe this is all I'm
- 21:17Speaker 2: ever going to be. And in the midst of this
- 21:23Speaker 2: painful experience down in prison, he's gifted. He's gifted. And
- 21:30Speaker 2: if you got a gift, I don't care where people
- 21:34Speaker 2: put you. Yeah, if you got a gift, you.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Just got a gift.
- 21:40Speaker 4: You just.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Got a gift.
- 21:43Speaker 2: The last time I heard I'm Satisfied with Jesus, it
- 21:50Speaker 2: was like a twenty something year old girl singing it
- 21:53Speaker 2: to me through a glass cage from a maximum security
- 21:57Speaker 2: prison where she was waiting to be executed. And I
- 22:01Speaker 2: have never heard anybody sing like Erica Shepherd sang to
- 22:06Speaker 2: me through the bars in my life, most amazing voice,
- 22:13Speaker 2: locked up in prison, waiting to be executed, singing like
- 22:16Speaker 2: she could be a recording artist from a prison. The
- 22:20Speaker 2: prison had stripped her clothes, she had no makeup, she
- 22:23Speaker 2: had no dignity, she hadn't been to the beauty shop.
- 22:26Speaker 2: She had none of the things that you take for granted,
- 22:29Speaker 2: and she still had a song. It is funny how
- 22:33Speaker 2: you could be all dressed up and having all this
- 22:35Speaker 2: makeup and all these clothes and all these suits and stuff,
- 22:37Speaker 2: and you lost your song. If the cage's bird can sing,
- 22:43Speaker 2: if the inmate can sing, if the elderly with arthritis
- 22:50Speaker 2: and backs and swollen ankles can get up and dance
- 22:53Speaker 2: and rejoice and run all over the church, if people
- 22:56Speaker 2: can roll in here in wheelchairs and shake the side
- 22:59Speaker 2: for the wheelchair and praise the Lord, how can you,
- 23:03Speaker 2: with your healthy, glass strong self, sit there and lose
- 23:08Speaker 2: your joy when you walked in here and drove up here,
- 23:12Speaker 2: moved up here.
- 23:17Speaker 5: Right when you're figuring out what the big idea is,
- 23:20Speaker 5: I have to cut the message off.
- 23:21Speaker 4: I'm so sorry.
- 23:23Speaker 5: Take a look at these announcements, en then, and come
- 23:25Speaker 5: back and see me in just a.
- 23:27Speaker 6: Moment, love, redemption, sonshit, You'll find it all in My
- 23:32Speaker 6: Father's House.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Stable, provider, girding, guarding.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Guiding, correcting.
- 23:41Speaker 2: He had to come to the end of things before
- 23:43Speaker 2: he discovered God, and I think that a lot of
- 23:46Speaker 2: this church agents had to.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Come to the end of things.
- 23:50Speaker 2: He was there when it started, he was there when
- 23:53Speaker 2: it ended. He was the stable place when everything was
- 23:56Speaker 2: going crazy. When you didn't acknowledge him as God, gonna
- 23:59Speaker 2: call him God, admit that you hadn't God.
- 24:02Speaker 1: He was there all the time.
- 24:03Speaker 6: For your best gift and helping us reach others. We'd
- 24:06Speaker 6: like to give you Bishop td Jake's three Message Set
