- 0:20Speaker 3: What is the official definition of old guys?
- 0:22Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 0:23Speaker 2: Yeah, Uncle Lord Aska? What is the number?
- 0:26Speaker 4: One hundred five five five past?
- 0:29Speaker 5: That?
- 0:30Speaker 2: I love?
- 0:30Speaker 1: Like these high school kids who are even if they're
- 0:32Speaker 1: not recruits, they're making their own graphics of like where
- 0:35Speaker 1: they're going to school, Like the decision good at Bridgewater States.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Did you guys ever win a championship in your various
- 0:40Speaker 1: athletic endeavors you want, you have to win your conference
- 0:43Speaker 1: to then go the Big Dance.
- 0:44Speaker 2: So I didn't want to win the Big Dance, But okay,
- 0:47Speaker 2: conference title won my last hockey game.
- 0:50Speaker 1: If Fred and Paul were opposing head coaches of equally
- 0:53Speaker 1: talented teams, who would win that game?
- 0:56Speaker 4: So I'm giving that one to Paul.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Paul bo school o'clock manager. Really yeah, I go Fred,
- 1:01Speaker 1: Like Fred would be like, you know, call heads, but
- 1:03Speaker 1: then when they be like no, I.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Called the it's like just get some kind of controversies,
- 1:08Speaker 3: like you can't do that.
- 1:09Speaker 6: What do you do with the leadership is not one
- 1:12Speaker 6: that I didn't consider. I was more thinking no offense
- 1:14Speaker 6: football achemen.
- 1:16Speaker 3: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for
- 1:21Speaker 3: deals by a Toyota dot Com. Oh excuse me, I
- 1:28Speaker 3: was just reading my R lads Draft guide.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:33Speaker 3: It is Tuesday, here rachel Lett's Stadium, and the gang's
- 1:38Speaker 3: all here. It's Evan, it's Paul, it's me, it's Duce,
- 1:41Speaker 3: it's Matt and the booth and we're talking.
- 1:43Speaker 2: We're getting ready for the draft coming.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Up in less than two weeks now, getting excited about that.
- 1:50Speaker 3: We had Elliott Wolf talking that that's the first sign
- 1:53Speaker 3: that the draft is here, and he was talking from
- 1:56Speaker 3: the new Patriots training facility, kind of a soft opening yesterday.
- 2:02Speaker 2: If you will. Yeah, in the media workroom, the new Balance,
- 2:06Speaker 2: the new.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Balance, Aletics center, plural. Yeah, so very exciting times. Here
- 2:14Speaker 3: Richel state what it was like drafter piece theater.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Are you boys stepping it up a little bit? This
- 2:19Speaker 2: looks a little, This looks a little.
- 2:21Speaker 1: They go back and forth professionally bound this year.
- 2:24Speaker 2: A little a little. She got to compete with the best,
- 2:26Speaker 2: and you're looking get that back.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I need in ft with the glasses and I
- 2:30Speaker 1: need it like that. Oh hello, yeah you know you were.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah, so this came in the mail yesterday the r
- 2:36Speaker 3: lads and then I I haven't printed out the Beast yet.
- 2:39Speaker 2: I had to get around to doing that.
- 2:41Speaker 1: You better get about a seven hundred pages ready to Yeah,
- 2:43Speaker 1: print that sucker printed out. Remember last year we came in.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I don't draft it either, because that's we came in
- 2:51Speaker 1: for the draft show and there's just a stack of
- 2:53Speaker 1: white papers all like paper clips.
- 2:55Speaker 5: So I like, I like to take the beasts the
- 2:58Speaker 5: positional rankings, you know, like just the page with the
- 3:02Speaker 5: names listed and then his top hundred. Yeah, I like,
- 3:05Speaker 5: I print those out for you know, I haven't been
- 3:07Speaker 5: here somewhere, but I have those for reference. But I'll
- 3:10Speaker 5: wait to the guys that we actually take and then
- 3:13Speaker 5: I'll print those pages out for my own.
- 3:15Speaker 2: What I do, and I like, now I just have
- 3:17Speaker 2: it all in my head.
- 3:18Speaker 3: I take it and I divide it up by the positions,
- 3:20Speaker 3: and I took those bulldog clips and I clip each
- 3:23Speaker 3: position together, so I make mini booklets, right, and then
- 3:28Speaker 3: I do with Paul. I also then I have separate
- 3:30Speaker 3: his top one hundred, and between that and this book,
- 3:34Speaker 3: I start crossing off the names as they get drafted.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Do we have any back of the envelope sort of
- 3:39Speaker 1: like scoring a baseball?
- 3:40Speaker 2: This is this is how you get a back of
- 3:41Speaker 2: the envelope.
- 3:42Speaker 1: This is this is the process for fred. I mean
- 3:43Speaker 1: that's what.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Yeah, everybody's got their process.
- 3:46Speaker 5: The guys that our lads where the position that's not
- 3:49Speaker 5: in the top twenty five and the Beast he comes
- 3:52Speaker 5: a back and.
- 3:52Speaker 3: They don't have Mendoza in this. I'm only kidding. I'm
- 3:57Speaker 3: only kidding to my friends at our lads and do
- 3:59Speaker 3: a great job. Yeah, but it always seems every year
- 4:03Speaker 3: there's like one guy that I can't find him.
- 4:05Speaker 1: It's not here, so not in the Beast.
- 4:08Speaker 3: So what are you guys thinking? Between what Elliott had
- 4:10Speaker 3: to say yesterday and the draft coming up? What's what's
- 4:15Speaker 3: on your mind?
- 4:15Speaker 1: Like Devin's sing, we came out and Evan was like,
- 4:17Speaker 1: would you underline you were like day three off the ball, linebacker,
- 4:21Speaker 1: speed off the edge. There were some like very specific
- 4:24Speaker 1: things that he that he put out that I think
- 4:26Speaker 1: we then all scurried back to our prospects and kind
- 4:28Speaker 1: of tried to make it fit.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's fun.
- 4:32Speaker 6: What I like about his approach Shelley Wolf's is that
- 4:36Speaker 6: it doesn't necessarily mean it's all gonna work out, but
- 4:39Speaker 6: he kind of takes a very common sense approach to
- 4:42Speaker 6: the way that they look at the draft. Like if
- 4:45Speaker 6: you just looked at the Patriots roster at the edge
- 4:49Speaker 6: position right now, and he looked at their depth chart,
- 4:51Speaker 6: what would you say is like sort of the missing
- 4:54Speaker 6: ingredient from that group, and it's like somebody that can
- 4:57Speaker 6: get after the quarterback on third down. And then he
- 5:00Speaker 6: goes up at the podium and they ask him about
- 5:02Speaker 6: the EDG Dresser and he's like, yeah, he probably could
- 5:04Speaker 6: use some speed off the edge, and it's like, again,
- 5:08Speaker 6: it doesn't mean that they're gonna be able to fill
- 5:10Speaker 6: that need or fix it or the problem or whatever,
- 5:13Speaker 6: but it's uh. He doesn't try to get over complicated
- 5:17Speaker 6: or overthink things. And I think people that approach the
- 5:20Speaker 6: draft when they overthink the draft is when you start
- 5:23Speaker 6: to get yourself into trouble. Like you never hear the
- 5:26Speaker 6: Eagles call a name in the first round and people
- 5:28Speaker 6: are like, Howie Roseman took who from where? No it's
- 5:31Speaker 6: always like Jordan Davis, Oh yeah, defense.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Is stud from Georgia.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, this makes sense. Again, not all of them
- 5:40Speaker 4: pan out.
- 5:40Speaker 6: But in an exact science, that's probably the best way
- 5:45Speaker 6: to do it in my opinion.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah. I like the just the overall sense of thinking
- 5:52Speaker 1: what I'm saying, and I say it a lot looking
- 5:53Speaker 1: at next year's free agents and kind of basing some
- 5:56Speaker 1: of the needs off of that with like on when
- 5:58Speaker 1: you coming up and a bunch of the coming up.
- 6:01Speaker 1: And I think it's easy to look at the obvious
- 6:04Speaker 1: holes right now, but I think once you get into
- 6:06Speaker 1: the rhythm of how it's supposed to be, you should
- 6:10Speaker 1: be drafting that way. You know, you should be ahead
- 6:12Speaker 1: of the curve a little bit and not. And that's
- 6:14Speaker 1: why I was kind of thinking about, you know, the
- 6:16Speaker 1: question of the of the springs, did the team get
- 6:18Speaker 1: better in free agency? And you know, I get why
- 6:21Speaker 1: they're asking that, because you know, you probably can't look
- 6:25Speaker 1: at it and be like, well, they're dramatically better in
- 6:26Speaker 1: this spot. But I just feel like, if you're asking
- 6:30Speaker 1: yourself what teams got the best got the most better
- 6:32Speaker 1: in the spring, it's the crappy teams that had to
- 6:34Speaker 1: go get the free agents.
- 6:35Speaker 2: So totally agree.
- 6:36Speaker 1: You want to get into a place where you don't
- 6:38Speaker 1: get through free agency and then you judge whether or
- 6:40Speaker 1: not you're better or not. It's well, the best teams
- 6:43Speaker 1: are improving and the best teams are putting guys like
- 6:47Speaker 1: Jared Wilson into their long term role where you might
- 6:49Speaker 1: say Garrett Bradberry was better last year, then maybe he'll
- 6:52Speaker 1: be this year, but in the long term he will
- 6:54Speaker 1: be better. So, you know, I just I think that's
- 6:56Speaker 1: what we're trying to build towards is getting back in
- 6:58Speaker 1: that cycle where you're not constantly trying to play whack
- 7:01Speaker 1: a mole with needs for this replenishing. You're replenishing and
- 7:03Speaker 1: looking down the road and saying next year, when we
- 7:05Speaker 1: have three wide receivers come up for free agency, we're
- 7:08Speaker 1: going to look back and say, hey, Kyle Williams is
- 7:10Speaker 1: now gonna be able to get into these roles or
- 7:12Speaker 1: somebody we draft this year, you know able to come in.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:15Speaker 3: I like that.
- 7:15Speaker 6: Yeah, I just wonder when when they start doing that,
- 7:19Speaker 6: Like you could argue that you know that at a
- 7:23Speaker 6: lot of different positions, and I think it gets complicated
- 7:26Speaker 6: of you know, is that really something that you want
- 7:28Speaker 6: to do in the first round is draft somebody who
- 7:31Speaker 6: you're really drafting for twenty twenty seven, not necessarily for
- 7:34Speaker 6: twenty twenty six. Like, I still feel like they're in
- 7:36Speaker 6: a position in the first round at least, and I
- 7:39Speaker 6: would say really the first two rounds, but at least
- 7:41Speaker 6: the first round where they need to be drafting somebody
- 7:44Speaker 6: who's going to play right away and make an impact
- 7:46Speaker 6: right away.
- 7:47Speaker 3: So how different would we be looking at this offseason
- 7:50Speaker 3: if the Patriots same players as last year but they
- 7:53Speaker 3: finished the season like eight to nine and missed the
- 7:55Speaker 3: playoffs or nine to eight, How differently would we be
- 7:58Speaker 3: looking at this draft in this off season?
- 8:01Speaker 6: Well, that's so I think that's sort of what I'm
- 8:03Speaker 6: trying to do, is because I don't I don't think
- 8:06Speaker 6: they feel like they were a super Bowl caliber team.
- 8:09Speaker 3: That's kind of what I'm getting at.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a great question.
- 8:12Speaker 6: I think they've kind of said that at both of them,
- 8:14Speaker 6: so Elliot Wolf and Mike Rabel. So I feel like
- 8:17Speaker 6: to say sit here and say, yes, they have a
- 8:20Speaker 6: need in twenty twenty seven at a bunch of different
- 8:23Speaker 6: positions tight end, guard, linebacker, potentially safety if you draft
- 8:29Speaker 6: that guy this year, so you're gonna draft a third safety,
- 8:32Speaker 6: you know, Like and if you're to your point, Fred,
- 8:35Speaker 6: you're still feel like you're building here, Like, wouldn't you
- 8:39Speaker 6: want that player to make a little bit more of
- 8:41Speaker 6: an immediate impact and have a path to play a
- 8:44Speaker 6: little bit sooner than he's going to replace Mike Onwennu
- 8:47Speaker 6: next year?
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 8:49Speaker 4: You know, like, how does that really help the twenty
- 8:51Speaker 4: twenty six other than depth?
- 8:52Speaker 5: And that's why I like Mike's the way Mike put that,
- 8:55Speaker 5: and I totally agree.
- 8:56Speaker 2: I think you can marry the two.
- 8:58Speaker 5: I think you should be able to find some guys
- 9:00Speaker 5: that can immediately fill holes.
- 9:02Speaker 2: This year early in the draft.
- 9:04Speaker 5: But I also think they will have an eye on
- 9:06Speaker 5: what Mike is talking about and trying to find maybe
- 9:09Speaker 5: a Day three guard or two.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I mean they have right now all of those.
- 9:13Speaker 5: Day three eight, Day three picks. You're probably going to
- 9:18Speaker 5: take multiple offensive lineman with those, and you know, who knows,
- 9:22Speaker 5: maybe you strike it rich again and get another Michael
- 9:25Speaker 5: Winnhu who was also a sixth round pick.
- 9:27Speaker 2: You know, that's the goal.
- 9:28Speaker 5: Now, they've done that a lot lately, and they haven't
- 9:32Speaker 5: had as much success with it, But that doesn't mean
- 9:35Speaker 5: you stop trying. It's like the whole wide receiver thing.
- 9:38Speaker 5: You don't just stop taking wide receivers early because you
- 9:40Speaker 5: haven't been able to do it. So I think you
- 9:42Speaker 5: can marry the two philosophies. I think Mike is right.
- 9:44Speaker 5: I think good teams are hoping that their draft picks
- 9:48Speaker 5: that they've just made are going to continue to progress.
- 9:50Speaker 5: And then you get the Evan pipeline that Evan just
- 9:54Speaker 5: talked about. Yeah, and you have guys ready to I
- 9:56Speaker 5: mean to step into bigger roles.
- 9:57Speaker 3: You got a Morgan Moses, so you say, all right,
- 9:59Speaker 3: tackle fine, you know, forget about the death.
- 10:01Speaker 2: But remind me of something on Morgan Moses.
- 10:03Speaker 3: But there's nothing wrong with drafting that guy who you
- 10:09Speaker 3: hope will replace Morgan Moses, you know, and doing it
- 10:14Speaker 3: that way. Elliott said, you know, you never want to
- 10:16Speaker 3: be in a position where you have to draft for need.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Now we didn't say whether or not they're in that
- 10:20Speaker 3: position or not. They might be in that position where
- 10:23Speaker 3: there is a little bit of weight on the need
- 10:26Speaker 3: part rather than the best player available. Still, you know,
- 10:30Speaker 3: for certain positions. But I you know, I agree totally
- 10:33Speaker 3: what Evan's saying is, you know you want to get
- 10:35Speaker 3: into that cycle where you're you're just replenishing your team
- 10:40Speaker 3: through the draft and hoping that you know, you hit
- 10:42Speaker 3: on a few guys.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean Tevin's point. It might be a lot
- 10:45Speaker 1: to ask to take a guard and say, you know, pregnant,
- 10:48Speaker 1: you're gonna sit for a year. But at the tackle position,
- 10:52Speaker 1: I could be kind of talked into it a little
- 10:53Speaker 1: bit with you know, Blake Miller. We've talked about Blake
- 10:56Speaker 1: Miller and I Haannitcher.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Close enough.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I know that it become a joke that I can't
- 11:04Speaker 1: get anymore.
- 11:05Speaker 5: But I thinks Fred would win in one on one
- 11:07Speaker 5: coaching matchup with me.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Well, I said he would. He would. He would know
- 11:11Speaker 2: how to He would protest with you, and.
- 11:13Speaker 1: He would have weird little things that he did different
- 11:15Speaker 1: that would take what's he doing?
- 11:16Speaker 2: He can't do that.
- 11:17Speaker 5: He wouldn't question a call, he would question the rule.
- 11:22Speaker 1: You know, how to push your buttons. But I think
- 11:25Speaker 1: to the tackle position, I think at thirty one, maybe
- 11:27Speaker 1: it's it's worth a consideration, you know, because you don't
- 11:30Speaker 1: know exception.
- 11:31Speaker 6: To me, that's all exception just more about because of
- 11:34Speaker 6: the talent and the draft and the class.
- 11:37Speaker 5: I need to see what happens before them before I
- 11:40Speaker 5: go all the way in I I heard this morning.
- 11:42Speaker 5: I think Chris Price was on and he's advocating for
- 11:45Speaker 5: like the seventh tackle.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I no wanting. I don't want the seventh tackle, and
- 11:50Speaker 2: I know that it's a deep position. I I did.
- 11:52Speaker 5: This is this is actually one of the positions. I
- 11:54Speaker 5: did some research on it because I know, I mean,
- 11:56Speaker 5: they are going to be defensive line is a possibility
- 11:59Speaker 5: at thirty one, So I did pay a little extra.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Attention to that.
- 12:02Speaker 5: I don't want to take the seventh or eighth tackle
- 12:04Speaker 5: at thirty one, even if it means, you know, even
- 12:07Speaker 5: if it's you know, a guy who's going to start
- 12:10Speaker 5: probably next year, I would I would rather get a
- 12:12Speaker 5: better player than that.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I think if I was.
- 12:14Speaker 3: A GM, i'd look at my roster and I would say,
- 12:17Speaker 3: you know, in terms of this question of need versus
- 12:20Speaker 3: you know, best player, I would say, is there a
- 12:23Speaker 3: place on our team, a position on our team where
- 12:26Speaker 3: it's going to lose US games? And if there's an
- 12:29Speaker 3: answer yes to some place, then I gotta I gotta
- 12:32Speaker 3: fill that need.
- 12:33Speaker 2: I got to fill that need.
- 12:36Speaker 3: So if you agree with that, is there a place
- 12:40Speaker 3: right now on the Patriots roster as it's constituted right
- 12:44Speaker 3: now that if we go to if we had to
- 12:46Speaker 3: start today, we could lose games because of this position.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I mean the third tackle. I mean that might be
- 12:52Speaker 1: a stretch, but I go back to that. I don't know.
- 12:54Speaker 6: I have a tough time those I just think, like,
- 12:56Speaker 6: to me, it's they still I think have needs at
- 12:59Speaker 6: some PREMI in positions you know, tackle, edge, playmaker on offense.
- 13:04Speaker 2: But as it is right now, is it's not going
- 13:06Speaker 2: to cost you games.
- 13:07Speaker 6: I don't know if it's going to cost you games,
- 13:09Speaker 6: but I think that I look at the thirty first
- 13:11Speaker 6: pick of what's going to make the biggest impact immediately,
- 13:15Speaker 6: and you could make the case of that is pass rusher.
- 13:18Speaker 2: I think, you know, off the edge.
- 13:20Speaker 6: If you can't get a guy at thirty one that's
- 13:22Speaker 6: going to come in and potentially flirt with double DIGITSUND.
- 13:25Speaker 3: But I want to stop you right there. Okay, so
- 13:28Speaker 3: you've defined it as I want to look at the
- 13:29Speaker 3: guy that can make the biggest impact right now, right Okay,
- 13:35Speaker 3: does that mean that that's the best player available?
- 13:38Speaker 6: I think so, because I mean, I don't know about
- 13:41Speaker 6: best I don't know, like I don't.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Because of who else.
- 13:44Speaker 6: But I don't really agree you have the best player
- 13:46Speaker 6: available thing. See, It's it's because I think it's kind
- 13:49Speaker 6: of a fallacy. Like if you're going to say the
- 13:51Speaker 6: best player available at thirty one is the player that
- 13:54Speaker 6: you should draft?
- 13:55Speaker 4: What what if it's a quarterback?
- 13:56Speaker 3: No, but what I'm trying to get at right, absolutely,
- 13:59Speaker 3: But what I'm trying to get that is the best center.
- 14:02Speaker 3: The guy that can make the best, biggest impact on
- 14:04Speaker 3: one team may not be the same on another team. Right,
- 14:08Speaker 3: So if we're so deficient that one position and you
- 14:11Speaker 3: take the player that's going to make the biggest impact,
- 14:14Speaker 3: all that could mean is he's playing.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:16Speaker 5: I don't think it's as dramatic as you're making it sound, though, Like,
- 14:19Speaker 5: is there a position on the roster that's going to
- 14:20Speaker 5: cost you games?
- 14:23Speaker 2: In my view, really, if you want to really get.
- 14:25Speaker 5: To it, there's only one position on the team anywhere
- 14:28Speaker 5: in the league that's going to cost you games if
- 14:29Speaker 5: you don't have it, and that's quarterback.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Well, but I also like, you know, not to go
- 14:33Speaker 2: all Belichick. You know, if we had a game tomorrow.
- 14:36Speaker 5: We could put a lineup out there and start, like
- 14:38Speaker 5: you have NFL caliber players that will start. I agree
- 14:42Speaker 5: with all of the people that have been saying the edge,
- 14:46Speaker 5: the playmaker, you know, the offensive line, but like, to me,
- 14:49Speaker 5: the offensive line is more depth.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I don't think your starting five is going to cost
- 14:53Speaker 2: you games, well at least I hope not.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Well unless your left tackle is so deficient.
- 14:57Speaker 5: Yeah I know, but I don't think that they're left
- 14:59Speaker 5: tackle was so deficient.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Well no, I know, I'm just saying if it was, yeah, I.
- 15:03Speaker 5: Mean, I just not just don't think there are a
- 15:05Speaker 5: lot of like I think most teams have like players
- 15:10Speaker 5: that will start. Not everybody has a quarterback like that
- 15:13Speaker 5: will cost you games. But when you're one of those
- 15:15Speaker 5: teams that doesn't that you've seen them, like sure, you
- 15:17Speaker 5: know the Cardinals last year, it keeps you from winning,
- 15:20Speaker 5: Like it will prevent you from winning. I think that's
- 15:23Speaker 5: kind of where I would draw the line. Like I've
- 15:26Speaker 5: seen many teams with nothing at the offensive line. I mean,
- 15:29Speaker 5: obviously makes it a lot harder. Yeah, but and you know,
- 15:32Speaker 5: and they're able to work arounded scheme around it. You
- 15:35Speaker 5: want to get better at those spots. And I recognize it.
- 15:38Speaker 3: But I could see a situation and thank goodness, we're
- 15:40Speaker 3: not there where GM looks at his roster says, we
- 15:43Speaker 3: don't have.
- 15:44Speaker 1: A starting cornerback. Corner back.
- 15:48Speaker 3: We've got cornerbacks, but none of them are number one.
- 15:51Speaker 3: We need a cornerback on this team, you know, to
- 15:54Speaker 3: set the room right because right now, like we're not
- 15:57Speaker 3: good enough.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I think they're an edge light still.
- 16:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I think they could use a starting caliber edge player,
- 16:02Speaker 5: but I don't you know, yeah, I think that that's.
- 16:06Speaker 6: Like to me, that's what it is, because you need
- 16:08Speaker 6: to you need to have a way for that player
- 16:12Speaker 6: to play early on as a rookie, Like what's the path,
- 16:16Speaker 6: like we keep going back to guard or even like
- 16:20Speaker 6: let's use tight end for example. You know, I think
- 16:23Speaker 6: that they could draft a tight end on Day two
- 16:25Speaker 6: that has a lot of upside and a lot of potential.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Is he going to be better than Hunter Henry as
- 16:29Speaker 4: a rookie? Probably not.
- 16:31Speaker 6: You know, Hunter Henry is probably still going to be
- 16:33Speaker 6: your starting tight end linebacker.
- 16:35Speaker 4: I think Robert Splain.
- 16:36Speaker 6: Is going to be better than anybody that you draft
- 16:38Speaker 6: for twenty twenty six. The one spot that I think
- 16:41Speaker 6: that they could probably improve on that. You can say
- 16:44Speaker 6: that is probably on the edge, Like I like Draymond Jones,
- 16:47Speaker 6: He's a fine player. Harold Andrew if he's healthy, is
- 16:50Speaker 6: a fine player. But with the talent that's in this
- 16:52Speaker 6: class that he could use a starting caliber edge. Yeah,
- 16:55Speaker 6: they could maybe get a guy that is the best
- 16:57Speaker 6: pass rusher out of that group, almost even if he's
- 17:01Speaker 6: not the most well rounded or whatever, but just instant
- 17:04Speaker 6: speed off the edge pass rush ability. You know, one
- 17:07Speaker 6: of these guys like Howl or mesidor or our Mason
- 17:10Speaker 6: Thomas or Lawrence or one of any one of these
- 17:12Speaker 6: guys are probably the best pass rusher.
- 17:14Speaker 5: Mason Thomas thing is gonna drive me crazy. You know,
- 17:17Speaker 5: he's ours are or.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Our lads ours there are there.
- 17:24Speaker 1: There are a lot of guys though, I mean, Nev
- 17:26Speaker 1: and I just did another mock draft video and there's
- 17:28Speaker 1: just a lot of guys who play with that fire
- 17:29Speaker 1: and that you know, just that energy that you can
- 17:32Speaker 1: tell that that Vrabel and them cove it. And so
- 17:35Speaker 1: I think they've got a lot of a lot of
- 17:36Speaker 1: different options. But I think I do think they kind
- 17:38Speaker 1: of run out quick. So I mean, if you you
- 17:40Speaker 1: don't hit one of those guys in the first two rounds.
- 17:43Speaker 2: It's it.
- 17:43Speaker 1: I don't know if it's it's a good class, it's
- 17:46Speaker 1: a deep class, but I.
- 17:46Speaker 6: Think he day three runs out quick, yeah, because there's
- 17:49Speaker 6: so much talent at the top, Like the top one
- 17:51Speaker 6: hundred is going to have like sixteen guys sixteen seventeen
- 17:54Speaker 6: guys that go in the top one hundred at EDGE.
- 17:56Speaker 6: Once you get into day three, I think you do
- 17:59Speaker 6: fall off a cliff of bit, but there's still going
- 18:02Speaker 6: to be quality players, i'd say into the third round,
- 18:05Speaker 6: especially when you start to consider body types and heights
- 18:09Speaker 6: and weights and different skill sets.
- 18:11Speaker 5: That's where your thing comes into play, is one team's
- 18:14Speaker 5: prototype might be completely different from another team in.
- 18:17Speaker 6: This class with a deposition like edge that is I
- 18:20Speaker 6: think the most important thing is what is what what's
- 18:23Speaker 6: your height, what's your weight?
- 18:24Speaker 4: What are your parameters for you? For that player?
- 18:27Speaker 1: You know, the guy i'd just like to maybe talk about,
- 18:29Speaker 1: and I think it gets to what Fred is talking
- 18:31Speaker 1: about is like Caden McDonald probably you know the best
- 18:34Speaker 1: defensive tackles and could be a guy that's available at
- 18:37Speaker 1: thirty one. And that's a position where you say the
- 18:40Speaker 1: middle of the line guy. Yeah, he's a big guy.
- 18:42Speaker 1: He's a big guy, you know, but certainly a need.
- 18:46Speaker 1: But is that a position? And I know what Paul's
- 18:48Speaker 1: going to say, but I mean, that's why I skuld debate.
- 18:50Speaker 1: It's just, you know, is that a position where you say, look,
- 18:52Speaker 1: this guy is the best defensive tackle in this class.
- 18:54Speaker 1: It's pushed him down to us. It's not a huge need,
- 18:56Speaker 1: but we feel like we're gonna plug this guy in immediately. Yeah,
- 18:59Speaker 1: and Tim Barmore and Milton Williams to go.
- 19:02Speaker 5: And I would be in favor of something like that. Now,
- 19:04Speaker 5: I'm not advocating taking him, but I'm saying, if that's
- 19:07Speaker 5: the way it unfolded. And now you're getting a guy
- 19:10Speaker 5: that a lot of people think is, you know, top
- 19:13Speaker 5: twenty ish talent, and he's there at thirty one.
- 19:16Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I don't know if he's that because he
- 19:18Speaker 6: doesn't rush the past.
- 19:19Speaker 2: No.
- 19:19Speaker 6: Yeah, so you know he led the fbs and run
- 19:22Speaker 6: stuffs last year. Thirty run stuff is playing nose tackle,
- 19:25Speaker 6: so this isn't just like a space eating nose tackle
- 19:28Speaker 6: as a guy that gets off blocks and makes plays,
- 19:30Speaker 6: but he doesn't really rush the passer like he's probably
- 19:32Speaker 6: not going to play on third down very much.
- 19:34Speaker 3: But but I mean having that guy in the middle,
- 19:39Speaker 3: he's going to say certain help helps the rest.
- 19:42Speaker 6: Of your defense helps you get to third Those.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Kinds of things, and this can be like a longer
- 19:48Speaker 5: convoluted thing. But those types of things give you flexibility
- 19:52Speaker 5: to loster flexibility. So let's just say, for arguments sake,
- 19:55Speaker 5: we play the play it out. This guy ends up
- 19:57Speaker 5: being a stud, right, he's a stud in the middle, Carter.
- 20:01Speaker 5: That allows you to do something with Christian Barmore if
- 20:04Speaker 5: you want to. Because Milton Williams is here, you know,
- 20:07Speaker 5: he's signed the long term deal right now.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Barmore's here.
- 20:10Speaker 5: There's been a lot of talk about whether or not
- 20:12Speaker 5: he's here long term or not. I think he'll be
- 20:15Speaker 5: here this year based on you know, we're sitting here
- 20:18Speaker 5: at the draft and he's still on the roster. But
- 20:22Speaker 5: if you hit on a guy like that, does that.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Give you more flexibility? You can turn that into assets, you.
- 20:27Speaker 5: Know going forward, you can clear some salary as you
- 20:30Speaker 5: have Christian Gonzalez and Drake May on the horizon for
- 20:34Speaker 5: big money deals like those kinds of things can give
- 20:37Speaker 5: you some flexibilities.
- 20:38Speaker 1: An example of potentially one of the advantages of picking
- 20:42Speaker 1: down to the bottom where somebody does kind of get
- 20:45Speaker 1: kicked through the cracks a little bit, and if you
- 20:47Speaker 1: have that kind of flexibility to be able to say, look,
- 20:49Speaker 1: not a huge need, but this guy's going.
- 20:50Speaker 2: To be a superstar.
- 20:51Speaker 5: Same kind of thing happened with a similar kind of
- 20:53Speaker 5: player one hundred years ago in Vince Wilfork. Vince Wilfork
- 20:57Speaker 5: wasn't expected to be there when the Patriots took Man
- 21:00Speaker 5: twenty one. Yeah, he wasn't supposed to be around that late.
- 21:04Speaker 5: M Yeah, and ended up being obviously a really good
- 21:07Speaker 5: pick for him. And it wasn't a huge you know what.
- 21:10Speaker 2: A huge need?
- 21:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean they just they had.
- 21:13Speaker 5: A really good defensive line with a couple of other
- 21:15Speaker 5: recent first rounders and Seymour and Warren in it already,
- 21:18Speaker 5: right right, they already This is kind of Evan and
- 21:21Speaker 5: Paul's thing, like we're not really at that stage.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Just just take it. They donald.
- 21:26Speaker 6: That is thing that you know, Tonga obviously leaves in
- 21:28Speaker 6: free agency, so they have a need for a run
- 21:30Speaker 6: stuffing nose tackle.
- 21:32Speaker 4: So at least you can put hit a guy.
- 21:34Speaker 6: Like McDonald into Tonga's snaps right away. Now you hope
- 21:37Speaker 6: that he's better and that he you know, plays even
- 21:39Speaker 6: more than that. But to Paul's point, you know, maybe
- 21:42Speaker 6: in twenty twenty six he's just tires Tonga, you know,
- 21:45Speaker 6: and plays in that role. And then in twenty twenty seven,
- 21:47Speaker 6: is Christian Barmore still around or not, you know, and
- 21:50Speaker 6: then maybe he's playing even more in twenty seven.
- 21:53Speaker 4: That one at least I can see.
- 21:54Speaker 6: A path of this is what we're going to do
- 21:56Speaker 6: with this player as a rookie to get him on
- 21:59Speaker 6: the field. Is playing forty five percent of the snaps
- 22:02Speaker 6: that Tongo left behind. Now, I think they're better depth
- 22:05Speaker 6: there at nose tackle in this class compared to others,
- 22:08Speaker 6: Like you could probably get that with Dominique Orange or
- 22:12Speaker 6: Dante Corleone or any of those guys like third and
- 22:15Speaker 6: fourth round even later that are just going to be
- 22:18Speaker 6: run players. So maybe you don't have to reach out
- 22:20Speaker 6: thirty one on a detackle. But McDonald's considered the only
- 22:24Speaker 6: guy that that really is a surefire first rounder.
- 22:27Speaker 5: So social social guys are rooting for for Orange or
- 22:32Speaker 5: Big Citrics Citrus, Big Citrus and the.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Boston Jersey pretty good.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Absolutely for social yeah, all.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Right, merch.
- 22:43Speaker 3: So it's good stuff. Obviously the emails are coming in now.
- 22:48Speaker 3: This is uh, we've hit on the subject that people
- 22:50Speaker 3: most want to talk about right now, so let's get
- 22:55Speaker 3: right into it. I guess we'll get to the phones.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Eight five to five pats five hundred eight five No, No,
- 23:02Speaker 3: when I heard that, when I heard the intro, I
- 23:04Speaker 3: was like, oh no, I'm going to get the number
- 23:05Speaker 3: wrong because that's in my head now.
- 23:07Speaker 2: It's sorry.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Five five pass five hundred is the Hotline podcast at
- 23:11Speaker 3: Patriots dot com as the email.
- 23:13Speaker 2: On behalf of Fred. I would just like to apologize
- 23:16Speaker 2: to everybody for last week but last week. Yeah, you're
- 23:18Speaker 2: both out about that. Yeah, last Thursday show evidently, Uh.
- 23:22Speaker 1: You know, I thought it went great, but what happened?
- 23:26Speaker 2: No, no, I don't know.
- 23:28Speaker 1: It wasn't okay, I did mess up the phone number
- 23:30Speaker 1: that is, that's accurate.
- 23:31Speaker 4: He did a great job.
- 23:32Speaker 2: But otherwise I'm sure Mike was perfectly adequate in his adiquosity.
- 23:36Speaker 2: A lot of football though.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I mean we noticed, you know, we figured out Fred
- 23:38Speaker 1: on Tuesday when I had to sit in the chair
- 23:40Speaker 1: for you, there was it was like Evan, we did
- 23:43Speaker 1: finish the episode that was like, that was like a
- 23:44Speaker 1: Catch twenty two episode. We're like, we didn't do anything fun.
- 23:47Speaker 1: So we realized you always have, like, you know, your
- 23:49Speaker 1: musings about what you thought about on the drive in,
- 23:51Speaker 1: and you take us down these back paths that involve fun.
- 23:54Speaker 1: But apparently when I host, there's no I don't I
- 23:56Speaker 1: don't get into the fun stuff.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Why is that?
- 23:58Speaker 4: I don't know, because I usually a pretty fun show.
- 24:01Speaker 1: I'm a pretty fun guy. Are you too clenched up
- 24:04Speaker 1: back there that you can't well, I mean I do
- 24:06Speaker 1: have an I do have a ball Catch twenty two.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Let's just talk hardcore football side too, So I maybe
- 24:11Speaker 1: I slip into that, but you know me, I'm I'm
- 24:13Speaker 1: always down guy.
- 24:14Speaker 4: I thought we were going to get into like punters
- 24:15Speaker 4: at one point, We're.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Going, I'm not bars, Let's go well, actually, well, Bart's
- 24:20Speaker 1: got Bart's got a tough show coming up this afternoon.
- 24:23Speaker 3: We can talk about that. What's what's he doing?
- 24:26Speaker 1: Oh he's got to tangle with with mask today.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Yesterday they got.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Some they got some new things they're throwing in figure.
- 24:33Speaker 3: I know they're throwing things at the board.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Now, I know I really have you that as a
- 24:37Speaker 1: personal a front to all of us who put a
- 24:39Speaker 1: lot of hard work into our big boards and they
- 24:41Speaker 1: just throw darts.
- 24:41Speaker 3: That's it's and they get some right they do.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Yeah, throw a hundred of them and eventually you're going
- 24:48Speaker 4: to hit one.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Wow, good bit you can you can hear the jealousy, jealousy,
- 24:55Speaker 3: jealous I don't like how they treat It's more just
- 24:57Speaker 3: I don't like how there now.
- 24:58Speaker 1: I really don't why the bully is serious right now.
- 25:02Speaker 4: No, I really don't like they.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Do bully him a little bit, but I think he
- 25:05Speaker 3: comes off as a smart draft guy and something that
- 25:08Speaker 3: they're not.
- 25:10Speaker 6: That's that's fair as his friend, you know, like it's
- 25:13Speaker 6: kind of like a brother thing right now.
- 25:16Speaker 2: I can make.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Stand up for yourself.
- 25:19Speaker 4: I don't like that.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Yeah, don't let them talk to you like that.
- 25:23Speaker 4: You my friend.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Well, I mean, if you.
- 25:27Speaker 3: Know, if you're not gonna if you're not one of
- 25:28Speaker 3: the hosts and you come on that show, you kind
- 25:30Speaker 3: of have to come on with a character.
- 25:32Speaker 1: You have to have a character, right.
- 25:33Speaker 2: And you also need to have a thick skin. Believe me,
- 25:35Speaker 2: thick skin right, that's.
- 25:38Speaker 1: His shows, So you know, all right, So we had
- 25:40Speaker 1: all six lines lit up at one time, and during the.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Show, how is that possible? It was like, how is
- 25:45Speaker 2: this possible?
- 25:46Speaker 1: MAT's like, yeah, we fixed the phones and like they've
- 25:47Speaker 1: broken for.
- 25:48Speaker 5: Five years, Like I got I got a bulletin.
- 25:52Speaker 3: I can't have more than three lines.
- 25:54Speaker 2: I got a text about it.
- 25:55Speaker 1: We had five of them lit up.
- 25:58Speaker 2: That's cool.
- 25:58Speaker 3: No, we used to have five and then we would
- 26:00Speaker 3: deserve one for the hotline.
- 26:01Speaker 5: Yeah, for the next week is vacation week around here too,
- 26:04Speaker 5: you know, not only the draft. So you know what
- 26:06Speaker 5: that means means spring break for the kids. Yeah, yeah,
- 26:08Speaker 5: you know what that means for Paul? Oh what vacation
- 26:11Speaker 5: field in time? Your favorite time of the year. Okay,
- 26:14Speaker 5: there you go.
- 26:16Speaker 3: All right, let's get to it. People are waiting herms
- 26:20Speaker 3: in DC.
- 26:20Speaker 2: What's up herb.
- 26:23Speaker 4: Here?
- 26:23Speaker 7: What's going on with squad?
- 26:27Speaker 1: Question?
- 26:29Speaker 7: And this might be obviously very prettymature.
- 26:33Speaker 8: But it kind of ties a little bit into a
- 26:36Speaker 8: conversation I with Paul a while ago by a bunch
- 26:39Speaker 8: of bills and matter of fact.
- 26:41Speaker 7: Paul of Mike had which we were Mike he might
- 26:45Speaker 7: afraid of a little bit wrong in terms of the
- 26:49Speaker 7: bills being desperate.
- 26:50Speaker 8: But my question is what did you guys' overall confidence
- 26:54Speaker 8: level moving forward?
- 26:57Speaker 7: And I understand it's still a rut of new regime, right,
- 27:00Speaker 7: and I don't want to really harp on the past
- 27:02Speaker 7: whatever happened in the past the past, but what if
- 27:05Speaker 7: you guys confidence level and the current regime consistently taking
- 27:11Speaker 7: good pass catchers moving forward?
- 27:13Speaker 2: Right?
- 27:14Speaker 7: And I say that, and I want to purchase this uh.
- 27:19Speaker 8: As I said earlier. I know it's super early.
- 27:21Speaker 7: But you know, Drake May will let me you get paid, right,
- 27:25Speaker 7: So with that having.
- 27:28Speaker 8: To go back into the free agent pool gonna be
- 27:31Speaker 8: I think it's.
- 27:32Speaker 7: Fairly difficult, you know what I mean moving forward?
- 27:34Speaker 8: So I guess to say all that to say, what
- 27:38Speaker 8: if you guys the confidence level moving forward that this
- 27:41Speaker 8: current regime will be able to consistently draft competent past catchers.
- 27:48Speaker 9: For Drake May?
- 27:49Speaker 7: And the reason why for the Buffalo Bills because I
- 27:53Speaker 7: think paulits have believe that just because you paid a
- 27:57Speaker 7: quarterback that's made you can't really on it.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Okay, all right, all right, thanks herm.
- 28:05Speaker 3: So I guess that gist of the question is how
- 28:07Speaker 3: confident are we that the Patriots are going to be
- 28:09Speaker 3: able to draft good wide receivers. That is that really
- 28:14Speaker 3: the question is the question?
- 28:15Speaker 2: That was the question.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I wouldn't compare this to anything they've
- 28:20Speaker 3: done in the past because this is a new regime.
- 28:22Speaker 3: I mean, they didn't draft Nikhil Harry or Aaron Dobson
- 28:26Speaker 3: or these guys. So now they did draft Kyle Williams,
- 28:30Speaker 3: and the jury's still out on him, and they used
- 28:33Speaker 3: the second round pick to get him, so third it
- 28:37Speaker 3: was the third, that's right, because they did Henderson in
- 28:39Speaker 3: the second.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Yeah, still top of the third, so kind.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Of a second round, you know, as they said, close yeah,
- 28:46Speaker 3: close enough one of special picks, right, one of our
- 28:49Speaker 3: special picks. So the jury's still out on Kyle Williams.
- 28:53Speaker 3: But I why wouldn't I be optimistic that they can
- 28:57Speaker 3: find a good wide receiver at thirty one if that
- 29:00Speaker 3: where they wanted to go.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean the history, But I just I feel
- 29:03Speaker 1: the same way about all the positions. I don't, you know,
- 29:05Speaker 1: it's like, oh, well, they can easily keep trying these guys,
- 29:07Speaker 1: like you know, I just I think the draft is
- 29:09Speaker 1: a crapshoot generally speaking, any way. I mean, there's look
- 29:12Speaker 1: at how much the guys that know it all miss
- 29:14Speaker 1: I mean they miss all the time, but I get it.
- 29:16Speaker 1: I mean they have to keep trying though. That's the
- 29:18Speaker 1: biggest part of it. I wouldn't just give up and
- 29:20Speaker 1: be like, well, we can't get them.
- 29:21Speaker 2: You know, it's left for the Ravens.
- 29:24Speaker 3: You know, they used first round picks on Daniel Graham
- 29:27Speaker 3: and Ben Watson, and you know, each one had their attributes,
- 29:30Speaker 3: but none of them was that complete tight end that you.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Were looking for.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Then they took a chance on a guy with a
- 29:35Speaker 3: bad back from Arizona, and he's going to be a
- 29:38Speaker 3: Hall of Famer.
- 29:39Speaker 2: So you keep trying.
- 29:40Speaker 6: Yeah, no doubt, you keep trying. My confidence level right
- 29:43Speaker 6: now not very high, but you do. There's no doubt
- 29:46Speaker 6: that you keep trying.
- 29:47Speaker 5: You know.
- 29:47Speaker 6: I think that they're It's interesting because they've they've sort
- 29:51Speaker 6: of pivoted like throughout you know. They they went with
- 29:54Speaker 6: Taekwon Thorton in twenty twenty two, who was just a lanky,
- 29:58Speaker 6: lean speed guy, and then they went to Jalen Polk,
- 30:01Speaker 6: who is more of like supposed to be the floor
- 30:04Speaker 6: you know, not a great athlete, but great hands and
- 30:08Speaker 6: body control and play strength and just sort of a
- 30:11Speaker 6: safe or bed and then they went with like a
- 30:14Speaker 6: small speed guy and Kyle Williams. Like they're all three
- 30:16Speaker 6: of them are very different type of players, and all
- 30:19Speaker 6: three of them have not exactly.
- 30:21Speaker 4: Panned out yet.
- 30:22Speaker 6: You know, maybe Kyle Williams does, but right I until
- 30:26Speaker 6: they do it, I don't know how you could be
- 30:28Speaker 6: super confident that they're going to be able to.
- 30:29Speaker 5: I think that's fair. I'm with Fred a little bit
- 30:32Speaker 5: here on this one. I'm going to keep an open
- 30:34Speaker 5: mind and just keep taking swings and trying to find
- 30:40Speaker 5: a way because I think Evan's right. I think it's
- 30:43Speaker 5: easy to say, well, this is a new regime, and
- 30:45Speaker 5: technically that's true because Rabel is here, and I do
- 30:47Speaker 5: think that Rabel ultimately has the final say. But Wolf
- 30:51Speaker 5: and Grow were part of Thornton in Polk as well.
- 30:54Speaker 1: You want to get fast, get faster playing.
- 30:56Speaker 5: You know, so they were part of you know, you know,
- 30:59Speaker 5: some pretty premium picks being used on wide receivers that
- 31:03Speaker 5: didn't hit two second rounders in a third rounder, and
- 31:06Speaker 5: I would count all of them as sort of, you know,
- 31:08Speaker 5: part of this brain trust. Again, it's a little different.
- 31:12Speaker 5: Williams is the only one that was drafted with rabel here,
- 31:16Speaker 5: so that's a little different, But I understand the skepticism.
- 31:19Speaker 5: I'm going to try to keep an open mind. I'm
- 31:21Speaker 5: going to be a little bit more like Fred on this.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Yeah, Peter in South Floresas can't remember the name of
- 31:25Speaker 3: the gentleman who coaches all of you on your interviewing
- 31:28Speaker 3: skills during the Super Bowl week, but he needs to
- 31:31Speaker 3: do extensive training for Fred. Does the gentleman recommend you
- 31:34Speaker 3: say yep to all the time?
- 31:36Speaker 2: Uh?
- 31:37Speaker 3: His name is Jerry Madelon and go f yourself.
- 31:41Speaker 2: I don't think Jerry told him to do that. I'm
- 31:45Speaker 2: only kidding. Wow, Gmail, Yep.
- 31:47Speaker 1: You can't say that.
- 31:49Speaker 2: I'm only kidding you. Jerry Madelon is the coach. He's
- 31:53Speaker 2: great heat. I saw he gave you some tips today,
- 31:57Speaker 2: he did. I took them.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Hopefully it came out.
- 31:59Speaker 3: What did you do with the plant your flag and
- 32:01Speaker 3: be definitive the defend.
- 32:03Speaker 1: It was interesting because he was criticizing one of our
- 32:06Speaker 1: first mock draft videos, which honestly some of the players
- 32:08Speaker 1: I was kind of talking about. I was like, well,
- 32:10Speaker 1: I'm really not all that passionate about this guy, so
- 32:12Speaker 1: I think it kind of shows a little bit when
- 32:14Speaker 1: you don't believe in somebody as much as you do
- 32:16Speaker 1: believe in them.
- 32:17Speaker 2: You know what, Mike to fake it.
- 32:19Speaker 5: You just sort of nailed my whole apprehension about this
- 32:23Speaker 5: entire draft. And maybe it's as simple as the difference
- 32:27Speaker 5: between picking fourth and third the last two years and
- 32:30Speaker 5: thirty first. I'm not overly you know, Evnant had this big.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Thing last week.
- 32:34Speaker 5: I think it was last week about I just can't
- 32:37Speaker 5: fall in love with anybody.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Like I kind of agree with him. I don't love
- 32:40Speaker 2: this draft. There's not like there's.
- 32:42Speaker 5: A couple of guys that I really really like that
- 32:45Speaker 5: aren't really in line for the Patriots. You know, Like
- 32:48Speaker 5: Caleb Downs is a player I think is a really
- 32:50Speaker 5: good football player who's probably going to drop.
- 32:53Speaker 2: A little bit because he's a safety.
- 32:56Speaker 5: Even if you dropped a thirty one, I'm not sure
- 32:58Speaker 5: I would love him for the Patriot. It's although I
- 33:01Speaker 5: probably take them because I think he's just be too
- 33:03Speaker 5: good to pass up. But I don't love a lot
- 33:05Speaker 5: of players in this draft.
- 33:06Speaker 6: Yeah, and I think that you're alone that loves a
- 33:10Speaker 6: lot of players in the draft.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Either.
- 33:12Speaker 6: It's not a I think when drafts get bad raps
- 33:15Speaker 6: or when there's not a lot of blue chip players
- 33:18Speaker 6: and there's not a lot of quarterbacks.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Like when those two things, the second thing was definitely.
- 33:22Speaker 4: Don't check those boxes.
- 33:23Speaker 6: So like with Mendoza really being the only franchise caliber
- 33:27Speaker 6: quarterback in this year, big Ty Simpson fan, this isn't
- 33:29Speaker 6: really there's not a ton of buzz about this draft
- 33:32Speaker 6: because of that last year's draft. At least we had
- 33:35Speaker 6: Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter who were two stud players
- 33:38Speaker 6: at premium positions, and Hunter just won the Heisman and was,
- 33:41Speaker 6: you know, two way player in this whole big deal.
- 33:44Speaker 6: Like those guys kind of you know, we're popular players.
- 33:48Speaker 6: And then obviously the year before, Drake's draft was just loaded.
- 33:51Speaker 6: I mean, it's just a hell of a draft. So
- 33:53Speaker 6: this one is out of the last three or four drafts,
- 33:56Speaker 6: this is probably the worst one.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Alan I saw on this winning on one of the
- 34:00Speaker 3: football shows either on the network or ESPN.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Kind of one in the same these days.
- 34:06Speaker 3: But h that Pittsburgh Steelers draft where they had four
- 34:10Speaker 3: Hall of Famers draft, Mike Webster, Jack Lambert.
- 34:15Speaker 6: The water Boy, they.
- 34:18Speaker 3: Don't belong in the whole Yeah, but that's get four
- 34:22Speaker 3: Hall of Famers.
- 34:23Speaker 2: And one draft.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Well, I mean that's you know, when somebody who's asking
- 34:27Speaker 1: what our confidence level is, it's like, you know, not
- 34:29Speaker 1: just for the receiver position, but my feeling for the
- 34:31Speaker 1: overall Patriots is like they really need to keep stacking
- 34:34Speaker 1: drafts because they did a good job last year. They
- 34:36Speaker 1: but they've got some veterans in some positions right now
- 34:38Speaker 1: that you know. I think Tommy Kerran asked yesterday, Yeah,
- 34:41Speaker 1: as we were saying, you need those top picks to
- 34:43Speaker 1: be really good in the hit on those, but those
- 34:46Speaker 1: later rounds are really valuable to try to stalk the
- 34:48Speaker 1: pantry behind these guys, because if they don't replace Hunter Henry,
- 34:51Speaker 1: and they don't replace Morgan Moses, and they don't replace Robertsplane,
- 34:54Speaker 1: and they don't replace Carlton Davis in a year or two,
- 34:57Speaker 1: those guys are gonna be gone. And so it's a
- 35:00Speaker 1: constant process. So I need another good draft out of
- 35:03Speaker 1: these guys, and you know, hopefully not just with starters,
- 35:06Speaker 1: but guys who you can say, well, they've got a
- 35:08Speaker 1: player behind the scenes. He used to six round pick
- 35:10Speaker 1: they started draft.
- 35:11Speaker 3: Let me let me ask a question there, because you
- 35:13Speaker 3: know that Pittsburgh Draft we just talked about was pre
- 35:17Speaker 3: free agency. I think things have changed since then, but
- 35:21Speaker 3: also things have changed lately because the salary cap has
- 35:24Speaker 3: gotten so high. Yes, I do think the draft is
- 35:28Speaker 3: the way you build your team. But when you lose
- 35:31Speaker 3: guys like that Splane and Henry and Moses that you
- 35:34Speaker 3: know you're forecasting to lose, isn't that critical because now
- 35:39Speaker 3: you're probably going to have room under the cap to
- 35:43Speaker 3: replenish them through free agency as well.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, And it's a balance, like it's not like, well,
- 35:47Speaker 1: we just always have to draft and we never even
- 35:49Speaker 1: have to think about free agency. But I think you
- 35:51Speaker 1: just don't want to leave so much in free agency
- 35:53Speaker 1: that you've got six holes. You have a couple holes,
- 35:56Speaker 1: everybody's got a couple holes. But if you don't draft, well,
- 35:59Speaker 1: now you're looking at the twenty twenty one.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Yeah, free agency.
- 36:02Speaker 3: But I even think, like twenty years ago, last year,
- 36:04Speaker 3: the draft was probably even more important than it is now.
- 36:07Speaker 3: I still think it's the most important thing, but it
- 36:10Speaker 3: was even more important.
- 36:11Speaker 6: I think the most important thing now about the draft
- 36:13Speaker 6: is the cost effectiveness of the draft, Like because if
- 36:17Speaker 6: you draft players at premium positions.
- 36:20Speaker 4: You know, receivers. I saw a report. You know, I
- 36:23Speaker 4: just said receivers.
- 36:23Speaker 6: But I saw a report yesterday that Will Anderson might
- 36:26Speaker 6: get fifty million dollars a year on his contract extension
- 36:30Speaker 6: with the Texans. So if you have to continuously dip
- 36:33Speaker 6: into the veteran market, whether that's trade or free agency,
- 36:36Speaker 6: you're paying top dollar for those players.
- 36:38Speaker 4: You can only play so many of those guys.
- 36:40Speaker 6: Whereas with the draft, if you draft, if you hit
- 36:42Speaker 6: on a Christian Gonzales in the draft, you now have
- 36:44Speaker 6: one of the best corners in football on a rookie
- 36:46Speaker 6: contract for four years, maybe even five if you do
- 36:49Speaker 6: it with the fifty year option. That's why I like,
- 36:52Speaker 6: I'm so big on drafting premium positions early, because if
- 36:56Speaker 6: you hit on the edge rusher, if you hit on
- 36:58Speaker 6: the wide receiver, if you hit on the quarterback, like,
- 37:00Speaker 6: you don't have to pay that guy now for four
- 37:02Speaker 6: or five years. Where As if you hit on a guard,
- 37:05Speaker 6: it's like, okay, great, but like I can just go,
- 37:08Speaker 6: I can go buy a guard. I can go pay
- 37:10Speaker 6: Elijah verraatucker. But I think the middle of the market.
- 37:12Speaker 3: I think I think the threshold for being able to
- 37:14Speaker 3: retain you know, those big guys is easier now than
- 37:18Speaker 3: it was twenty years ago.
- 37:20Speaker 2: You know.
- 37:21Speaker 3: So if you have your quarterback, you have a cornerback,
- 37:23Speaker 3: you have an edge rusher, A team can probably afford
- 37:26Speaker 3: to pay three top notch guys.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Will they Well, that's a different question.
- 37:31Speaker 5: I see both sides, because what Evan's talking about is
- 37:33Speaker 5: the cash, and I do like so in Houston's case,
- 37:37Speaker 5: to use your example, Will Anderson, it's going to be
- 37:40Speaker 5: hard for them. And they paid Stingley a lot of money.
- 37:43Speaker 5: They paid Will Anderson a lot of money. They haven't
- 37:45Speaker 5: addressed the quarterback yet, yeap, and they want to. Well
- 37:49Speaker 5: that's the whole thing is they're probably I think Nick
- 37:52Speaker 5: Cassario is buying himself some time. He picked up the
- 37:54Speaker 5: fifty year option, but I'd be surprised if he gets
- 37:58Speaker 5: that they're going to do the two of them and
- 38:00Speaker 5: make them wait, you know, the extra year, which they should,
- 38:04Speaker 5: especially based on that last you know, the last thing
- 38:08Speaker 5: that we saw was just complete ineptitude at quarterback for them.
- 38:12Speaker 5: But let's just say he bounces back and has a
- 38:15Speaker 5: good year. Now that's another guy who's going to be
- 38:18Speaker 5: in the fifty plus million dollar a year category. So
- 38:21Speaker 5: at some point it's the cash. Yeah, Like you're absolutely
- 38:24Speaker 5: right about the cap, and no one would argue that
- 38:26Speaker 5: more than me. But everybody's got a budget and there's
- 38:31Speaker 5: only so much cash that you can hand out to
- 38:33Speaker 5: everybody at the same time. It's what we're talking about
- 38:36Speaker 5: right here, right now with with gonzal You know, if
- 38:38Speaker 5: AJ Brown comes, what does that do? If anything to
- 38:41Speaker 5: Gonzales and then in turn next year to Drake May.
- 38:44Speaker 6: They're they're valuable that if you can graft the receiver
- 38:48Speaker 6: instead of trade for AJ Brown, then you don't have
- 38:50Speaker 6: to put the money towards the receiver. And so I
- 38:53Speaker 6: think that that's why receivers, you know, everybody always talks
- 38:57Speaker 6: about like the day two receivers, like who's going to
- 38:59Speaker 6: be the diamond in the rough, doesn't happen as often
- 39:02Speaker 6: because the value of the contract, like the rookie contract
- 39:05Speaker 6: on a stud receiver is just great return on investment. Yeah,
- 39:10Speaker 6: And I think the Patriots are in a position where
- 39:13Speaker 6: that's why I would like to see them go in
- 39:14Speaker 6: that direction. Like tackle, I think is another one too,
- 39:17Speaker 6: because they don't come to free agency like the good
- 39:20Speaker 6: starting tackles usually don't hit the market, so you have
- 39:23Speaker 6: to be able to get those through the draft. But
- 39:25Speaker 6: you can find those tackles that we talked about Kat
- 39:27Speaker 6: and McDonald for five minutes, like Kiris Tongo was a
- 39:30Speaker 6: pretty good nose tackle for this team last year and
- 39:32Speaker 6: did the job. So I need to draft Kadd McDonald
- 39:35Speaker 6: in the first round to play a rotational role in
- 39:37Speaker 6: forty five.
- 39:38Speaker 2: I really agree with your premium position theory. Yeah.
- 39:40Speaker 1: I mean it's not just money too. It's that if
- 39:43Speaker 1: you have really good talented players that those select spots,
- 39:46Speaker 1: you're probably gonna be okay, you know, Whereas if you
- 39:48Speaker 1: have the greatest right guard in history, you're gonna need
- 39:52Speaker 1: more than that.
- 39:52Speaker 3: You know, Zach's in New Hampshire.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Hey, Zach, thanks.
- 39:58Speaker 7: Taking my call.
- 40:01Speaker 10: I was just wondering do you think Rabel would bet
- 40:04Speaker 10: on TJ. Parker's twenty twenty four cape or his twenty
- 40:07Speaker 10: twenty five cape. And then also I saw Lanceer lines
- 40:11Speaker 10: comp for Gabe Akis is Matt Judon. I was just
- 40:13Speaker 10: wondering if you guys saw that in him as well.
- 40:18Speaker 1: I don't know, I see him a little more loose
- 40:20Speaker 1: and athletic than Judon's. You don't kind of big and stiff,
- 40:23Speaker 1: kind of stand up guy. See a little more flexibility
- 40:25Speaker 1: explosiveness out of him.
- 40:27Speaker 6: Yeah, I could see that. I think act is a
- 40:29Speaker 6: better run defender. But Judon I think did.
- 40:33Speaker 4: That, you know, sort of.
- 40:36Speaker 6: They gave him sort of freedom to just rush the
- 40:38Speaker 6: passer and get up the field when he was here
- 40:40Speaker 6: just as Yeah, so I don't know if that ju
- 40:44Speaker 6: don't got.
- 40:44Speaker 4: Some speed though, he's got some explosiveness.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Good edge Russia. Yeah, that first year that he was
- 40:49Speaker 2: here in twenty one, he did.
- 40:50Speaker 6: Yeah, I can see the motor like the look of
- 40:53Speaker 6: it being similar to Akis.
- 40:55Speaker 2: Who is the other guy he asked about? TJ.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Parker had a Clemson here you go?
- 41:01Speaker 2: Yeah, is that a back of the envelope?
- 41:03Speaker 1: Guy, I haven't done my envelope yet.
- 41:06Speaker 6: You got to ask yourself that question about it. Basically,
- 41:08Speaker 6: all the clubs and guys, you know, Peter Woods, Terrell Parker,
- 41:13Speaker 6: all those guys had better twenty fours. The program had
- 41:15Speaker 6: a bad year in twenty twenty five. So you can
- 41:18Speaker 6: blame the program if you want, and blame the program
- 41:20Speaker 6: going the run direct, Yeah, you can blame twenty four.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Who bar loves to Orange?
- 41:26Speaker 5: No, I haven't, mostly because it doesn't fit anymore.
- 41:31Speaker 4: Yeah, that that program is going south.
- 41:33Speaker 6: So maybe you just think that they had a bad
- 41:35Speaker 6: year and it, you know, affected everybody, including TJ. Parker,
- 41:39Speaker 6: and he had half as many sacks as he had
- 41:42Speaker 6: in twenty four and as he did in twenty five.
- 41:44Speaker 4: So it's a it's a good question. I think.
- 41:47Speaker 6: I I normally don't put a ton of stock into
- 41:50Speaker 6: underclassman tape because like, I'm not drafting the guy that
- 41:54Speaker 6: played two years ago. I'm drafting the guy that just
- 41:56Speaker 6: ended his season in you know, December or January. So
- 41:59Speaker 6: I put a lot more emphasis on the twenty five tape.
- 42:01Speaker 6: But I would other people do it differently.
- 42:03Speaker 5: But I think you also have to do you have
- 42:06Speaker 5: to do some research to figure out context. Yeah, and
- 42:09Speaker 5: I know a lot of people this doesn't mean it's true,
- 42:12Speaker 5: but a lot of people with that particular player for Clemson,
- 42:15Speaker 5: we're talking about how much more attention he got last
- 42:17Speaker 5: year than he did the year before. I'm with it
- 42:20Speaker 5: with Evan, like, if you're good, you're going to get attention.
- 42:23Speaker 2: And you bet it.
- 42:23Speaker 5: Yeah, so you need to show that you can you
- 42:26Speaker 5: can prove that you can handle you know, extra blockers
- 42:29Speaker 5: and be able to still be productive. That's the difference
- 42:32Speaker 5: between the really good players average.
- 42:35Speaker 6: Would be like if you transferred, like if you transferred schools.
- 42:39Speaker 6: You know, Jordan Addison was a big one. He played
- 42:42Speaker 6: at Pitt in a USC. He was a better player
- 42:44Speaker 6: at Pitt than he was at USC. And so a
- 42:47Speaker 6: lot of people were like, we gotta go back and
- 42:49Speaker 6: watch the pit tape because the pit tape is better.
- 42:51Speaker 6: But if there's they're at the same school year to year,
- 42:55Speaker 6: I tend to kind of go with the most recent.
- 42:59Speaker 5: I get that one right, right? Was he one of
- 43:01Speaker 5: those guys that everybody talked about last year?
- 43:04Speaker 2: You got double team the whole year? And kind of
- 43:07Speaker 2: I mean maybe.
- 43:08Speaker 6: Like Peter Woods and k part were both in the inside,
- 43:11Speaker 6: like they had players like on that defensive line besides him.
- 43:14Speaker 2: I might be confusing and with someone else, but I.
- 43:16Speaker 4: Just don't I think that I wouldn't really buy that because.
- 43:19Speaker 5: Oh, I like I said, I, if you're good, you're
- 43:22Speaker 5: gonna get double teamed.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Yeah, that you can be productive.
- 43:26Speaker 6: Like Peter was going to be a top fifty player.
- 43:29Speaker 6: Kp Art their other defensive tackle is going to get drafted.
- 43:31Speaker 6: So they had other NFL players on that defensive line
- 43:34Speaker 6: besides just TJ.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Parker.
- 43:36Speaker 6: So you know, maybe it wasn't the guy on the
- 43:38Speaker 6: other side, you know that was you know, the edge
- 43:40Speaker 6: rusher on the other side. Maybe it wasn't as good
- 43:42Speaker 6: of a player. I don't remember, but I'm kind of
- 43:45Speaker 6: a lukewarm on him.
- 43:47Speaker 3: Okay, what does he have to say? Christian in La?
- 43:51Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 43:52Speaker 11: You got?
- 43:55Speaker 2: So?
- 43:56Speaker 12: I was thinking two questions too, main questions in a
- 43:59Speaker 12: statement question, one being what I think you guys said,
- 44:03Speaker 12: what position? If we don't address, we're gonna we could
- 44:06Speaker 12: transit to losses. But a better question for me is
- 44:09Speaker 12: what key positions do you guys feel that if we
- 44:12Speaker 12: could level up would translate into wins? You know, better
- 44:16Speaker 12: translate into wins. And then a secondarily, if you guys
- 44:22Speaker 12: somehow we came up with some miracle plans to trade
- 44:24Speaker 12: up into the top ten, which player would you guys get?
- 44:28Speaker 12: Those are my Those are my two questions. And then
- 44:31Speaker 12: from a statement standpoint, do you think they would add
- 44:35Speaker 12: something like double teams to the statistics tracking of defensive linemen?
- 44:41Speaker 12: Like on the inside, they don't get a lot of
- 44:42Speaker 12: love to what they do, especially if they don't get
- 44:44Speaker 12: a lot of sacks and stuff. But I think it
- 44:46Speaker 12: should count like towards their statistics if they get double teams.
- 44:50Speaker 12: And you guys had just touched on the So those
- 44:52Speaker 12: are my my Tuesday questions. Love you guys, love the show.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Let's go past all right?
- 44:57Speaker 6: They do track double teams now on a place like
- 45:01Speaker 6: PFF and next Gen stuff like that. You can next
- 45:04Speaker 6: Gen you can look and see how many raw double teams,
- 45:08Speaker 6: you know, total double teams, percentage of double teams, chips,
- 45:11Speaker 6: you know, if they're getting chip help against them a lot.
- 45:14Speaker 6: They have all that kind of stuff. Now, cool.
- 45:16Speaker 3: So his first question, what position, if you could get
- 45:19Speaker 3: to the next level on it would.
- 45:21Speaker 4: Help you the most wide receiver?
- 45:23Speaker 3: It seems like that's the logical answer, right, Yeah, I
- 45:27Speaker 3: mean I can't. I mean, edge would be something, but yeah,
- 45:32Speaker 3: I think wide receiver would have more of a every
- 45:34Speaker 3: play kind of impact.
- 45:36Speaker 5: Like think of some of these wide receivers that have
- 45:38Speaker 5: come into the league like Gangbusters over the last say
- 45:42Speaker 5: five years. If you could inject one of those kinds
- 45:45Speaker 5: of players into the offense and all of a sudden
- 45:47Speaker 5: you had like a twelve hundred yard receiver thirteen hundred
- 45:50Speaker 5: yard receiver, ten touchdown guy for Drake May which then
- 45:54Speaker 5: slots everybody else behind that guy. That's an immediate impact
- 46:01Speaker 5: in your.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Off Ted McMillan, right, I mean that's one Evan's been
- 46:03Speaker 1: bringing up. I mean, that's a great guy for Drake,
- 46:06Speaker 1: really athletic, and combine him with what they have even
- 46:11Speaker 1: long term you look at him with maybe Kyle Williams and.
- 46:13Speaker 5: Dobbs, that's a pretty good start your guy, Nabbers. I mean,
- 46:18Speaker 5: if you could just take a guy like that, you know,
- 46:21Speaker 5: I would say Abuca from last year, you know, until
- 46:24Speaker 5: he pulled his hamstring and he kind of tailed out.
- 46:26Speaker 5: He was kind of really non productive the second half
- 46:30Speaker 5: of the year. But that is immeasurable, like to have
- 46:34Speaker 5: someone come in and hit the ground. And do you know, Mike,
- 46:37Speaker 5: I know you were doing a lot of research on
- 46:38Speaker 5: ninety six.
- 46:39Speaker 2: You know what Terry Glenn did.
- 46:41Speaker 5: Yeah, you know for a good for a good offense,
- 46:43Speaker 5: and it made it a really really good offense.
- 46:45Speaker 2: Ye, Melvin's in Utah. Is this our Melvin or another Melvin?
- 46:52Speaker 10: Probably?
- 46:53Speaker 3: Oh? Yes, it turn it up a little bit.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Matt.
- 46:57Speaker 13: I just wanted to say two things, Uh, Fred I'm
- 47:02Speaker 13: glad you're back. It's good to have a real ball
- 47:03Speaker 13: and now we're back on the show.
- 47:05Speaker 3: Okay, thank you, Okay, I know that's I know you're
- 47:09Speaker 3: you're being starcastic, all right.
- 47:11Speaker 13: And the second thing was, I don't get how Dante
- 47:16Speaker 13: high Tower took fifth and Hall of Fame voting behind
- 47:20Speaker 13: Logan Mankins and west Woker when he was like far
- 47:23Speaker 13: more important to the team.
- 47:25Speaker 3: Really, you don't get I I think that's totally uh
- 47:30Speaker 3: in line my opinion.
- 47:33Speaker 2: I missed it. I'm sorry.
- 47:34Speaker 3: Well, how could high Tower take fifth?
- 47:36Speaker 2: In well, Patrin's voted.
- 47:38Speaker 1: He didn't really take fifth. I mean, he was just nominated.
- 47:41Speaker 1: There were you know, it wasn't like an order thing.
- 47:43Speaker 2: It was.
- 47:44Speaker 1: There were certain people nominated and spoken.
- 47:46Speaker 2: I only know about three.
- 47:48Speaker 3: But well, I don't know how I got out there,
- 47:50Speaker 3: but what he's talking about, But let's just say he
- 47:53Speaker 3: did for argument's sake. I could see Mankins and Welker
- 47:57Speaker 3: being ahead of him.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Well we talked about him just being brought up and
- 48:00Speaker 1: being mentioned as you know somebody. It was his first
- 48:02Speaker 1: year of ELI.
- 48:04Speaker 5: I think there were eight guys nominated. You only know
- 48:06Speaker 5: about the top three. Those are the finalists.
- 48:08Speaker 2: How would you know?
- 48:09Speaker 6: I think I think it was just when we were
- 48:12Speaker 6: talking about it, it was kind of assumed that it
- 48:14Speaker 6: was those four or five guys in High Tower. We
- 48:18Speaker 6: kind of made it sound like High Tower was fifth
- 48:21Speaker 6: on that list. I understand why they think.
- 48:25Speaker 3: Okay, thanks Melvin. I'm getting a lot of heat from
- 48:28Speaker 3: people who say I'm being hypocritical in my stance on
- 48:31Speaker 3: vinitary because when Belichick, you know, I was so adamant
- 48:35Speaker 3: about Belichick should get in right away because he's that
- 48:38Speaker 3: much better than anyone else. And I stand by that,
- 48:42Speaker 3: And yes, Gronk should get in right away, but so
- 48:46Speaker 3: should Adam Vinitari. He should get in right away. But
- 48:50Speaker 3: bull shit, Adam. You know Gronk's the best tight end ever. Well,
- 48:54Speaker 3: I think Adam's the best kicker ever. You know, a
- 48:56Speaker 3: kicker verse tight end, what.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Listen.
- 48:59Speaker 3: I don't think I'm being hypocritical in my stance on Vinitari,
- 49:03Speaker 3: and especially when you're comparing it to my stance on Belichick.
- 49:06Speaker 1: I think not that the.
- 49:08Speaker 3: Patriots missed the boat or that the committee missed the boat.
- 49:12Speaker 3: Brady was alone that year, so he didn't get in.
- 49:17Speaker 3: He wasn't available to get in last year. But I
- 49:22Speaker 3: think you just put in minitary. Now he's gonna be
- 49:24Speaker 3: He's already a Pro Football Hall of Famer. I don't
- 49:28Speaker 3: think that contradicts what I was saying about Belichick.
- 49:32Speaker 1: Sorry, no, you know, we kind of landed on on Thursday,
- 49:35Speaker 1: which I don't know why. It kind of just dawned
- 49:37Speaker 1: on me to look at it this way. But it's like,
- 49:39Speaker 1: right now you're reaping what you sewed for twenty years
- 49:42Speaker 1: of like the greatest run in maybe professional sports history.
- 49:46Speaker 1: So like this problem of having too many people to
- 49:48Speaker 1: put into the Hall of Fame, it's a pretty unique
- 49:50Speaker 1: problem and one that I don't think needs to have
- 49:53Speaker 1: all these different rule changes in there to accommodate that,
- 49:55Speaker 1: because eventually it will catch up. Yeah, and eventually it
- 49:57Speaker 1: will all of allow. You're just you're suffering because you
- 49:59Speaker 1: were so blessed to have so many great players and
- 50:01Speaker 1: win so much right now that you gotta kind of
- 50:03Speaker 1: sort it out. Guy's got to be patient, but yeah,
- 50:06Speaker 1: you know.
- 50:07Speaker 3: That's what it is. So but judging from the the
- 50:11Speaker 3: blowback that I got, I think fans are going to
- 50:14Speaker 3: vote for Gronk. They're not going to listen to me.
- 50:17Speaker 1: So, but maybe cooler heads will prevail, and Gronk was
- 50:21Speaker 1: made for the patients the tone.
- 50:24Speaker 5: Cooler heads will Yeah, so you're a hothead, right if
- 50:27Speaker 5: you don't see it the way he does, that's r.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Cooler heads will prevail. That's right, that's fair. Yep.
- 50:32Speaker 3: David Mayne h. David Mayne says, Evan, could you explain
- 50:39Speaker 3: one more time why taking Chris Brazel at thirty one
- 50:43Speaker 3: is a bad idea? He six' four ran a four
- 50:45Speaker 3: to three. Seven Imagine booty on one, end In brazil
- 50:49Speaker 3: on the other and they both run a go route
- 50:51Speaker 3: And drake throws to whoever is more, open Aj brown
- 50:54Speaker 3: who six years from, now we'll have to listen to
- 50:57Speaker 3: everyone saying how we should trade three first For brazil
- 51:00Speaker 3: because we still don't have that number one. Receiver it's
- 51:02Speaker 3: gonna be. Insufferable, yeah be a little.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Rich it's.
- 51:07Speaker 6: INTERESTING I i think it depends on how you're looking at,
- 51:12Speaker 6: it you. KNOW I i look At Chris brasel as
- 51:15Speaker 6: a guy that Fits drake may like a. Glove and
- 51:19Speaker 6: if you're looking at the draft in like from a
- 51:21Speaker 6: bird's eye view where you're you're not drafting for a specific,
- 51:24Speaker 6: team then, like, NO i would not Have Chris brasel
- 51:27Speaker 6: as like my number one wide receiver in the, draft
- 51:30Speaker 6: but specifically where The patriots are drafting and the type
- 51:34Speaker 6: of RECEIVER i want to see them pair With Drake.
- 51:36Speaker 6: MAY i just think that he fits the mold the
- 51:39Speaker 6: best out of this.
- 51:40Speaker 4: Group, now some people think he's.
- 51:43Speaker 6: Raw you, know he doesn't have like the full route
- 51:45Speaker 6: tree down yet and all that different type of.
- 51:47Speaker 4: Stuff you, know some people are a little bit concerned
- 51:49Speaker 4: about the.
- 51:50Speaker 6: Frame you, know he's six,' four he's one hundred and ninety,
- 51:53Speaker 6: five pounds so he's Not Quite taekwon, thornton light but.
- 51:55Speaker 6: He's not he doesn't have great play straight and great
- 51:59Speaker 6: you know ass on the. Frame either, but again, it's,
- 52:03Speaker 6: LIKE well i keep, repeating myself it's exactly the conversation
- 52:05Speaker 6: we Had With. Alec Pierce Is alt piers the best receiver?
- 52:09Speaker 1: In?
- 52:09Speaker 2: Football no is he a really good?
- 52:11Speaker 6: Deep threat and do you have a quarterback that throws
- 52:14Speaker 6: a really good deep ball and does? The cut is
- 52:16Speaker 6: the fit makes sense with the two of. Them, Together
- 52:18Speaker 6: YEAH and i think the same Thing. About, brasil Now
- 52:20Speaker 6: If dame bruger ends up being right and he has
- 52:23Speaker 6: brazl in like the. Third round then they can draft
- 52:25Speaker 6: him at sixty three and we can all, be happy,
- 52:27Speaker 6: you KNOW like i think he's going to go higher.
- 52:29Speaker 6: Than that, you know you don't a six point four
- 52:31Speaker 6: receiver that runs a four to three and balls out
- 52:33Speaker 6: in the sec getting outside the top like sixty picks,
- 52:37Speaker 6: to me is just doesn't happen.
- 52:39Speaker 4: Very often But if, dane's right.
- 52:41Speaker 6: Then cool now we can get him at ninety Five
- 52:43Speaker 6: and i'll, be happy and you know they'll get.

- 56:55Speaker 1: It's amazing some of these guys just have such, good size,
- 56:58Speaker 1: YOU know, I mean i mean bronze is six thirty
- 57:01Speaker 1: four and.
- 57:01Speaker 2: FIVE eighths, i mean, you know to move those.
- 57:03Speaker 1: GUYS inside I just i wonder what that looks like
- 57:05Speaker 1: for an offense to. Have that, you know it's just
- 57:07Speaker 1: been a long time SINCE you, i mean you went
- 57:09Speaker 1: From Like cole strange to, You Know jared wilson isn't
- 57:11Speaker 1: the biggest kind of. A guy but what do you
- 57:13Speaker 1: guys think makes sense in?
- 57:14Speaker 2: This position?
- 57:15Speaker 1: Is this is this, a hey there's a guy that
- 57:18Speaker 1: we love that we think could, YOU know i don't
- 57:20Speaker 1: know if he's going to start, this year, but yeah
- 57:22Speaker 1: it's the third round, right now and maybe this is
- 57:24Speaker 1: a little rich for a spot that we're not, taking
- 57:26Speaker 1: it but we love. This guy is it crazy to
- 57:28Speaker 1: think they could tap this class of that, YOU said.
- 57:30Speaker 6: I would say that that, for me it starts in the,
- 57:33Speaker 6: fourth ROUND because i think if you take a fourth,
- 57:35Speaker 6: round guy, you know like one of The guys CHRIS
- 57:38Speaker 6: and i were talking about is probably going to be right.
- 57:39Speaker 6: In there if you want somebody that has a little
- 57:41Speaker 6: bit more passed, protection upside maybe it's like A cage
- 57:44Speaker 6: Casey or zoom and.
- 57:46Speaker 4: The Guy that. Paul mentioned those guys have, you know
- 57:49Speaker 4: we're college tackles that are going to, move inside so
- 57:51Speaker 4: they might be a little bit better. Pass protectors but
- 57:53Speaker 4: if you draft a guy at.
- 57:54Speaker 6: One, twenty five one, thirty one then you make the
- 57:57Speaker 6: argument that he backs up right, this year, you know
- 58:01Speaker 6: kind Of Pushes ben brown in, that role and then
- 58:04Speaker 6: next year maybe he takes Over for Mike. ON wanhu
- 58:07Speaker 6: i think drafting anybody a little bit higher, than that
- 58:09Speaker 6: there's probably other needs and not necessarily, the best, you
- 58:12Speaker 6: know allocation. Of RESOURCES but i do think we need
- 58:15Speaker 6: to keep in Mind At Elijah vera tucker, gets hurt,
- 58:18Speaker 6: you know he has an.
- 58:19Speaker 4: Injury history do You Trust.
- 58:21Speaker 6: Ben brown to be the guy if he goes down
- 58:24Speaker 6: for a, you know long period, Of time and if
- 58:27Speaker 6: he does go Down And ben brown has to go
- 58:29Speaker 6: into the, starting lineup then who's Backing Up?
- 58:31Speaker 2: Ben? Brown yeah nobody?
- 58:32Speaker 16: Right?
- 58:32Speaker 1: NOW right, i mean there's there's NO depth, i mean
- 58:34Speaker 1: and that's, you know not we're not getting the center
- 58:36Speaker 1: just Yet Because, jerry wilson Second Year, ben brown they.
- 58:39Speaker 1: Resigned him he's got center experience. As well but, you know,
- 58:42Speaker 1: Right Now ben brown's really the only backup for those
- 58:44Speaker 1: three spots everywhere, you know, you need you need to find.
- 58:47Speaker 1: A guy, You know i'm almost a little surprised they
- 58:49Speaker 1: didn't add, you know a veteran Other Than, via tucker
- 58:52Speaker 1: just to pad.
- 58:53Speaker 2: Their depth a, little bit, You, KNOW yeah i mean it's.
- 58:55Speaker 17: Just supporting you got To Give ben brown a lot
- 58:57Speaker 17: of credit for what he's been able to do to
- 58:59Speaker 17: kind of, come in.
- 59:00Speaker 4: Sort of be this shield For, the patriots especially.
- 59:03Speaker 1: As as he jumped right in and like started that week, last.
- 59:06Speaker 17: Year years or two, years ago like you just somebody
- 59:08Speaker 17: you can rely on if you. Need help but it's
- 59:11Speaker 17: that long term ability THAT you, i mean we haven't
- 59:13Speaker 17: Fully seen, ben bround especially at a differ position other,
- 59:16Speaker 17: than center where he played a lot in twenty. Twenty
- 59:17Speaker 17: four so, you know you want to See the patriots
- 59:22Speaker 17: maybe start to.
- 59:22Speaker 4: Think about that a little bit more as we've been.
- 59:23Speaker 2: Talking about, BUT.
- 59:24Speaker 1: Yeah i Talked To, david andrews WHO sorry i Talked
- 59:26Speaker 1: To david andrews At the dropt party and he just
- 59:28Speaker 1: Brought Up ben brown out, of nowhere, just saying really
- 59:30Speaker 1: like the player thought, he was, you KNOW just i
- 59:32Speaker 1: know he's not, you know. The man but those are
- 59:35Speaker 1: valuable guys.
- 59:35Speaker 2: And it's maybe a spot where they're a little light.
- 59:37Speaker 5: Right.
- 59:38Speaker 6: Now yeah the one GUY that i, would say like
- 59:39Speaker 6: if they were going to go a little, bit higher
- 59:41Speaker 6: Like tearing In, from northwestern interest ME because.
- 59:44Speaker 4: I think he's probably a little bit too small to.
- 59:46Speaker 6: Play tackle he had thirty two in a quarter, inch
- 59:49Speaker 6: arms so he's not he's below, the threshold but he's got,
- 59:52Speaker 6: tackle feet he's got a.
- 59:53Speaker 4: Tackle feel is he a type of guy that is
- 59:56Speaker 4: going to?
- 59:57Speaker 6: Play guard but in a pinch if you, had injury
- 1:00:00Speaker 6: is there something you could kick him outside and he
- 1:00:02Speaker 6: could survive out? At tackle so maybe he would give
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: you some, Of that like he's a, starting guard but
- 1:00:07Speaker 6: he's there a backup right tackle and that flexibility might.
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: Be enough, You KNOW dunker i think needs to. Play
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: guard he's, too clunky his feet are, too slow not good.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Enough athlete he's going to have to.
- 1:00:18Speaker 6: Play guard so at Least, tearing in even though he's
- 1:00:20Speaker 6: a little bit. Shorter armed, YOU know i think you
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: could probably survive a game, or two or, you know
- 1:00:25Speaker 6: a handful, of games kind of like how they kick
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: one outside every once in.
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: A while is that worth the value to?
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Do?
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: That maybe but he probably.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: Goes.
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: INTERESTING yeah I mean i kind of LOOK when i go,
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: down here, AND again i don't study.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: This stuff it's not, you know it's not.
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: MY forte i look, at schools, you know and you
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: know when you Brought, UP dunker i looked.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: At him because he Went. To iowa.
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: It's a program that you know that THAT produces Nfl
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: Lineman Notre Dame kid shrout is how you pronounced? That
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: One Billy, billy schreuth.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: You know a Captain At.
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: NOTRE dame i don't know that these guys are athletic
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: enough to make, the TRANSITION but i look at schools,
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: and programs. You know and That's why evan's always ON
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: the bc Lineman Because, boston college, you know for all the,
- 1:01:10Speaker 5: afflaw as they PRODUCE a. Nfl lineman yeah. They DO
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: so i kind of look at guys, like that AND
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: then i try to figure out if maybe there's a
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: spot in day three that, you know you can pick
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: a guy like that up if.
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: You want ten Seconds On logan taylor because he Brought
- 1:01:21Speaker 6: Up boston. College player, so yeah so he played four
- 1:01:25Speaker 6: out of five Positions At boston college everything butt center
- 1:01:28Speaker 6: during his. Career, There, slacker well, he, yeah right AND
- 1:01:33Speaker 6: so i think that he's going to be an.
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: Interior player we were at the draft Party.
- 1:01:37Speaker 6: LAST sunday i actually talked To coach scarr about him
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: because he's working with Coach scarnekia as Along With. Jude
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: bowry the two of them are working On with scar
- 1:01:47Speaker 6: in the pre draft process together and he really.
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: Likes them he thought, that he, you know has a.
- 1:01:52Speaker 6: Future, probably inside but maybe even at tackle as.
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: A Backup and scar was pretty high.
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: On HIM and i usually take that guy's word for
- 1:01:59Speaker 6: it when it comes the, offensive linemans. SO too i
- 1:02:02Speaker 6: think he's a little bit higher cut, for guards and,
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: you know comes in a little bit high kind of
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: blocks like, a tackle but plays like a guard in
- 1:02:07Speaker 6: terms of.
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: His movement so that's going to be a little bit of.
- 1:02:10Speaker 6: A tweeter but he's one of those guys you know that,
- 1:02:13Speaker 6: sixth round probably a fifth or sixth round that you
- 1:02:17Speaker 6: could get that you're probably developing as.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: A backup.
- 1:02:20Speaker 6: You know it is a kind of Like A ben
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: brown super sub type. Of player but those are, extremely valuable,
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: you know in the league.
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: To have guys.
- 1:02:27Speaker 6: Like that so one OTHER guard i just would throw
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: out THERE because i know a Lot of patriots fans talk,
- 1:02:31Speaker 6: about Him Is michael Morris, from georgia who is just
- 1:02:34Speaker 6: another massive dude with a great, athleticism profile had a.
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: Great combine, you know those are the types of.
- 1:02:41Speaker 6: Guys that when we start getting into the end of
- 1:02:43Speaker 6: the draft that you're just betting, on traits, you know
- 1:02:46Speaker 6: and those are some of those trades.
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: Based guys just quickly just circling Back.
- 1:02:50Speaker 6: To dunker if they Hadn't Signed Elijah, VERA tucker i
- 1:02:53Speaker 6: would have been pounding the table for them The Draft
- 1:02:55Speaker 6: jennings dunker to play. Left guard but now that They Have,
- 1:02:59Speaker 6: vera tucker probably not as pressing of a need to
- 1:03:01Speaker 6: draft a guy on day two as a backup to.
- 1:03:04Speaker 6: The interior but even though we said that he can't,
- 1:03:07Speaker 6: play tackle don't Like getting dunker is an.
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: Awesome player he's a really.
- 1:03:11Speaker 6: Physical guy he's going to set a tone in the,
- 1:03:14Speaker 6: run game like having Him And will campbell next to
- 1:03:16Speaker 6: each other would have been a lot. Of fun but
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: he's going to go too high for you know what.
- 1:03:20Speaker 6: They need they need backups and, developmental guys not plug and.
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: Play starters, all.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: RIGHT well i think that's going to do it for.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: This one the offensive line breaking.
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: It down you don't, get centers, no center.
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: No centers now do that on.
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: Your OWN te i mentioned one center.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Real quick catch twenty two centers.
- 1:03:35Speaker 6: Really Quickly brian Parker from duke played Tackle.
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: At duke some think.
- 1:03:40Speaker 6: He's going to be all moved all the way inside.
- 1:03:43Speaker 6: The center but this is a guy that probably could,
- 1:03:45Speaker 6: play tackle guard. Or center probably, Not tackle i'd probably rule, that.
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: Out but at least.
- 1:03:49Speaker 6: Garden center so if you're looking for somebody that has
- 1:03:52Speaker 6: some versatility and has some upside in, the interior he's
- 1:03:56Speaker 6: just another NAME that i think was. Worth mentioning, it's
- 1:03:59Speaker 6: funny like you always these places and some people think he's.
- 1:04:02Speaker 6: A GUARD some i think he's. The center like he
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: played tackle IN the acc at a high level and
- 1:04:07Speaker 6: we'removing him all the way inside. The center it's. Pretty
- 1:04:10Speaker 6: crazy but he's one of the centers that might have
- 1:04:13Speaker 6: some like center.
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: Guard, Flexibility there.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I'm done, All, right well that's going to do It.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: For Patriots draft cowntown Presented By, bud light who just
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: got one more produced.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: Episode left we're going to.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Talk about tight ends and running back will be a.
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: GOOD one.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: I know evan's really high on this running. Back class,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: great class. Just kidding we'll see then.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: And now great moments. IN history i.
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: Think it's so easy to rebuild IN the nfl because
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: of free agency and the salary cap, being garbage in
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: the non guaranteed nature of the contracts and build's dominance
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: over the rest of the league that in, two years
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: Provided that jared st didn't can walk from here to
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: there without, falling down they can win.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: THE age i wish the salary cap was garbage because
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: then we could Just resign brady.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: And rebuilt you Can resign brady if you want to
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: and not re you don't want to and.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: Not, rebuild yes you could do whatever. You want they
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: don't want to do that because they're.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: Too old you can't.
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: Do it they don't want to roll this. Team.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Back brown you can't rebuild And.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: Sign, brady, yeah no, You, can't right.
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: You can't that's correct because you're not rebuilding if You,
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: signed brady you're.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: Too old you can bring back the same Team with
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: brady if. You want didn't, say that you said you
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: can't rebuild And. Sign brady.
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: THAT'S right, i, agree right because you don't rebuild with
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: a forty three year old quarterback because he's.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: Too old.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: All right back Here On PATRIOT'S unfiltered a five to
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: five past five hundred Is the hotline Podcast at patriots.
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: Dot com it's the. Email address, of course we're talking,
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: draft here taking your calls. And emails WHAT else i.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: HAD something i wanted to?
- 1:05:54Speaker 5: Bring out did you guys think it was odd yesterday
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: the amount of Attention That morgan moses got every.
- 1:06:01Speaker 6: Single time these guys, are available combine, Owners Meetings, Elliott, wolf.
- 1:06:05Speaker 6: Yeah yesterday does somebody Like Think morgan moses?
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: Is?
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: Retiring like is there LIKE so i?
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: Wasn't, Alone, no no that's not like every off season.
- 1:06:14Speaker 6: Check, IN yeah i get the guys, thirty five but
- 1:06:16Speaker 6: they've already said multiple times that.
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: He's well obviously a lot of people did a lot
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: of research on possible, right tackles and so they have
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: to ask the, question no.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: But, oh oh a little piece of your? Chicken NUGGY
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: should i? Get you.
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: Sort of separating from the draft NEED because i still
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: think that you can make an Argument like mike did
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: at the top of the show about, you know a
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: tackle and waiting or, third tackle you know at. Thirty
- 1:06:46Speaker 5: ONE but i just thought it, Was, odd hey that
- 1:06:48Speaker 5: the question was.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: ASKED yesterday i thought that was a.
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: FOREGONE conclusion, I mean I think rabel was on record
- 1:06:53Speaker 5: as saying they've already established a plan for him for. The,
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: summer yeah the question was do you expect him to
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: play in?
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: Twenty six, i'm. Like huh and then not only that
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: THAT that i thought.
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: Was surprising that was one of the sort of takeaways
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: from a lot. OF people i heard it in a
- 1:07:13Speaker 5: lot of like a lot of the sports. Updates today
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: you Know That mogan moses will indeed be back, Next
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: year like when was that?
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: In?
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: Question, YEAH now i know things can, always change and
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: maybe someone who's asking the question is operating with. Some
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: information maybe he heard that there was some inkling that
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: he was having second thoughts. Or WHATEVER but i just
- 1:07:32Speaker 5: thought it was strange the amount Of Attention morgan moses
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: got yesterday that, Draft, Press.
- 1:07:37Speaker 6: Yeah, Poort morgan moses gonna have to show up at
- 1:07:39Speaker 6: mandatory mini camp for people to believe that he's.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: You're here wasn't one?
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: Of them wasn't there one of Those false facebook things
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: that he?
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: Was retiring there.
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: Was Something, on twitter a fake Account on twitter Attributed To,
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: mike giardi To Which mike giardi, immediately said this. Isn't
- 1:07:57Speaker 5: me that's what, it was you, Know whatever but that was. Weeks,
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: ago yeah like that. Was fake some of these guys they've.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: Talked about, It SINCE like I just i, DON'T know
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: i don't. Get, it yeah that's.
- 1:08:11Speaker 6: Weird things it's one of those weird things EXACTLY that
- 1:08:13Speaker 6: i feel like you just need to keep confirming at
- 1:08:16Speaker 6: every CHECKPOINT because i, get, it like if he's going,
- 1:08:20Speaker 6: to retire then tackle now becomes maybe the biggest need on.
- 1:08:24Speaker 6: The team but they keep telling us he's. Not retiring
- 1:08:27Speaker 6: so but it's interesting.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: Listening to paul talk because they are going to manage
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: him again, this summer and it makes me realize that
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: there are opportunities there that if you were to draft a,
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: right tackle Maybe It's, james hudson the veteran that. They
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: signed but if it is a rookie that they're gonna
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: be opportunities for him to get in there to get
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: a chance, to play, you know in during, you know.
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: Training camp so that might be a way to trying
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: to figure out how to get guys involved and get,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Them IN like, i mean there might be an opportunity
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: right out of, the.
- 1:08:51Speaker 6: Gate especially for some of these guys that need, Them
- 1:08:53Speaker 6: developing like if they do drafty on, A chore like
- 1:08:56Speaker 6: that's a guy that a lot of people think might
- 1:08:58Speaker 6: need a red. Shirt year like it's kind of the
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: perfect Situation, For IANACHOR like i.
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: Don't KNOW if i love that he's not. Gonna play but.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: That's why Even if miller was there at, thirty one
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: would you consider like maybe a trade down and then
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: just Go, With yeah miller.
- 1:09:12Speaker 6: Is definitely the, you know he made like fifty something
- 1:09:14Speaker 6: odd starts in College, at clemson so like he's definitely
- 1:09:17Speaker 6: ready to play as, a rookie whereas theanotor is, the upside,
- 1:09:22Speaker 6: you know Talent Grab but i'd say the same thing
- 1:09:24Speaker 6: with about a lot of these guys that are gonna
- 1:09:26Speaker 6: be later in. The draft, YOU know i think a
- 1:09:28Speaker 6: Guy like cronover for has like fallen the board a
- 1:09:32Speaker 6: little bit as we get closer and just you got
- 1:09:34Speaker 6: like thirty six, Inch arms like he's just a, huge
- 1:09:37Speaker 6: dude big, time power but needs. Some seasoning like a
- 1:09:40Speaker 6: lot of those guys in the middle. Rounds too could
- 1:09:42Speaker 6: use like a full trading Camp Where morgan moses is. Just,
- 1:09:45Speaker 6: chilling yeah and you get like ninety percent of the
- 1:09:47Speaker 6: reps in training camp And Then morgan moses is, you
- 1:09:50Speaker 6: know plays as.
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: A rookie Uh Don and philly has that evergreen question
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: as of four, to fourteen what Are the patriots doing the?
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: First round what position and what player or trade up?
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: And down so what are they going? To do what's on?
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: YOUR madra i know you receiver two?
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: POINT oh i think receiver released your, Big.
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: Board yes the big board, is, out yeah.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: RECEIVER edge i think those are the POSITIONS if i
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: had to bet on you have a player one of.
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: Those ones who's who's on your Matra.
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: Like boston Receiver like bostel at Edge and miller. A.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: TACKLE yeah i have a different question. For you two
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: draft experts said that.
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: VERY sarcastically.
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: I did i'm glad you caught.
- 1:10:34Speaker 5: The tone is there a guy sort of That screams patriot.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: To you.
- 1:10:40Speaker 5: You know sometimes there's like one of those GUYS that
- 1:10:42Speaker 5: i don't know when in, day three but they're going
- 1:10:44Speaker 5: to pick.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: This guy he. Played, lacrosse.
- 1:10:47Speaker 5: Yeah back in the old something like that guy would.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: Have been he's from someone that, just screams well that's,
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: a pain that's a. Rable guy. He's Good the patriots
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: are going to. Take him Look.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: AT ohio i just need the number of edges that
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: kind of play with, you know not the specific one where,
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: you know maybe you get into, the NUANCE but i
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: think there's a bunch of different edges that play with
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: that kind of style that. That fits sorry not to answer. Your,
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: QUESTIONS yeah, i mean but that's a position and off the.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: BALL linebacker i think there's a lot of guys that
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: are smaller and can run and, you know have that
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: kind of field general style that maybe Could replace. Robert's
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: PLAYING but i, don't know it's a. GOOD question i
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: mean we Joked about Hide, and Wright the. Navy kid
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: bill would have drafted. Him second he would have been
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: the one that's kind.
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: Of what i'm, talking about something that we Know like bill.
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: Would, be yeah we had more of like a sample
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: size of more than ONE.
- 1:11:36Speaker 5: Draft a mike is saying the thing about The, Edge rusher, i'm,
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: THINKING like i Look At howard Landry And calevon chasing is.
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: Very different so, Even then i'm like thinking, to myself
- 1:11:47Speaker 5: there's a lot of guy like the way you, said
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: that there's a lot of GUYS that i, could see, you,
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: KNOW like i don't Know what chase style, that is
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: which one More Like.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: CHASE on i think it's it's a, Good. QUESTION paul
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: i think you you look at the Guys Like chase
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: on that are obvious that you just get off. The
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: ball he's gonna fly into the backfield harder to find
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: that other side where maybe he's a little, more, stout maybe,
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: you know like and THAT'S where i think we get
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: into the debate. Of size, You know elliott was asked about.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: That too there's, you Know The zion youngs of. The
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: world they are bigger guys that could maybe, you know
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: be a little bit more suited on.
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: The offenses so let me ask kind of a it's
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: kind of the SAME question i, asked earlier but with
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: a little bit. More focus if you just look at
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: last year's playoff run And The super. Bowl game what
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: position would you want to upgrade just for those games.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: That you saw?
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: Past, PROTECTION yeah i mean, left position, left tackle, Left, TACKLE.
- 1:12:36Speaker 6: Yeah I MEAN i i Assume That will campbell, was
- 1:12:39Speaker 6: HURT so i give to. That caveat but, left, guard,
- 1:12:42Speaker 6: LEFT yeah i think the left side of.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: The okay and he was sacked more than any player
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: in history in, The PLAYOFFS so, i mean that's an.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: Easy way but they.
- 1:12:48Speaker 6: Already did that's an easier ANSWER than. I thought they
- 1:12:51Speaker 6: already addressed One With. Vera tucker and then you Hope that, campbell's,
- 1:12:53Speaker 6: healthy yeah, you know and that and improves he plays
- 1:12:56Speaker 6: like he did in the first fourteen weeks of the
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: season instead of when he.
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: Came.
- 1:12:59Speaker 6: Back right answer your question though about vrabel guys on,
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: DAY three a couple guys that come to my little.
- 1:13:05Speaker 6: Earlier actus to me is like they they the word
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: that they use so consistently in the defense, Is violence
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: like they want guys to just play with like a
- 1:13:15Speaker 6: mean streak and.
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: A violence and gay back Is? From illinois is that?
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: IS that i? Like him he is a.
- 1:13:21Speaker 6: Violent dude like he just takes, On blocks he just
- 1:13:24Speaker 6: blows people glup in a great way on, the field
- 1:13:27Speaker 6: in a, great.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Way violent but in the.
- 1:13:28Speaker 6: Good way the other guy that you know on the,
- 1:13:32Speaker 6: Offensive Line travis Burg, from memphis just another one that
- 1:13:35Speaker 6: just he wants to finish you into the ground and
- 1:13:38Speaker 6: then when you're on, the ground he's going to finish
- 1:13:40Speaker 6: You with.
- 1:13:40Speaker 5: Was that the felgrim madsk guy Yesterday? WITH barthy i
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: don't know it Was A memphis i'm pretty sure there
- 1:13:45Speaker 5: Was a.
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: Memphis tackle. He's nasty there's not two, of them, ARE
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: they i don't.
- 1:13:49Speaker 6: Think so he's like six six eight six nine three,
- 1:13:54Speaker 6: twenty three twenty five and just wants to ruin. Somebody's day,
- 1:13:58Speaker 6: that guy to me, feels like, you know they wanted to,
- 1:14:01Speaker 6: get bigger they wanted to, get tougher they wanted to
- 1:14:04Speaker 6: get more physical. On offense, you know that's why you
- 1:14:07Speaker 6: get a full back and you get, a guard and
- 1:14:09Speaker 6: you get a blocking, tight end and free agency might.
- 1:14:11Speaker 5: BE guys i might Stick with actus GOING because i did.
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: Like Him mike is that's one of.
- 1:14:16Speaker 16: The.

- 1:14:36Speaker 3: the line as much as possible To protect drake. Moving
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: forward given age, and injuries and given what happened in,
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: the playoffs defense was less, The ISSUE so, I mean
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: i can make it. Argument Easily, for Also does paul

- 1:25:37Speaker 2: I know, i mean why are we even? Doing it
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: what are?
- 1:25:40Speaker 6: WE doing i do, think that, you know the difference
- 1:25:44Speaker 6: in in length, like DEUCE like, i realize is so
- 1:25:49Speaker 6: much better at, you know here's like the two sentences
- 1:25:53Speaker 6: of what you need to know and me it's like
- 1:25:55Speaker 6: so it's.
- 1:25:56Speaker 5: SIX thou i often, tease you mostly to, your face
- 1:26:00Speaker 5: but sometimes when you're, not around and that is one of,
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: the Things says evans' mentality with all of this Stuff
- 1:26:07Speaker 5: is i'm going to tell you ABSOLUTELY everything i know
- 1:26:10Speaker 5: about absolutely every single PLAYER that i. Know correct and
- 1:26:14Speaker 5: that's THAT'S how i get that that.
- 1:26:16Speaker 6: Was Only FIFTY like i could have done that for
- 1:26:17Speaker 6: one hundred and. FIFTY guys i cut it.
- 1:26:19Speaker 5: Off at there's, your Draft, Fred Yeah, histor LAMBERT and
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: i had.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: To look back though at some Of these pittsburgh drafts
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: after you Brought. Up freddy sorry this IS but, i
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: mean starting in, Sixty Nine joe green First pick Hall
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: of famer for them overrated nineteen seventy To Get bradshaw
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: Hall of Famer And mel blunt first and, third round
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: So two hall of famers the. Next year next Year they,
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: JackAM second and then they.
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: Seventy Two.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: FRANCO harris i mean they're Just drafting hall of famers
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: every single year there from basically except for. Seventy three
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: from sixty nine to seventy fort he had six years
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: where You're getting hall. Of famers it's also like twenty
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: draft picks.
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: Per class that's what happens when all of.
- 1:26:58Speaker 4: Your players that, WAS like i mean like hall of
- 1:27:02Speaker 4: fame is a loose term in, this case but this
- 1:27:04Speaker 4: that seventy four.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: IS crazy I Mean Lynce wan Hall, of Fame, Jack,
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: At Lambert, John Stalwart Jimmy Allen lin.
- 1:27:09Speaker 6: Swan might be the guy that deserves it the least
- 1:27:12Speaker 6: out of all the guys that we brought Up this Hall.
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: Of fame Tim, in california would you Rather Draft gabe
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: Jackets Or chris brazil at?
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: Thirty One, acus brasel.
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: Draft a tight end or a linebacker at sixty three?
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: Tight end tight end or a linebacker sixty three. Tight
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: end that was the other Thing.
- 1:27:31Speaker 6: That elliott SAID that i was happy About the day
- 1:27:34Speaker 6: Three linebacker like enough of no no.
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: Double dip at edge or tight.
- 1:27:39Speaker 6: END edge i don't think they need to double.
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: THE now I think, i mean they get you. Three
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: years they got him in.
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: A row i Deal with massachusetts Inspections or california. Emissions,
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: TEST oh i.
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: Dealt with both of, those Actually and i've had similar.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: Impossible Situations so california has.
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: Stricter emissions you.
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: Got to get like a like they plug like a
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: thing into.
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: Your car. That's why THAT'S how i. Standards, are yeah.
- 1:28:05Speaker 4: Now they do that, here now but they did That
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: in california when we were, living there like, you know.
- 1:28:10Speaker 4: Years ago now the masschts.
- 1:28:12Speaker 6: CAUGHT up i do wonder if maybe part of IT
- 1:28:15Speaker 6: is i think they are getting stricter about. THE inspections
- 1:28:18Speaker 6: i guess they have cameras now in the body shops
- 1:28:22Speaker 6: and there's an inspector that comes by and watches tape
- 1:28:26Speaker 6: of all of. Your inspections that.
- 1:28:28Speaker 5: Is true that's why it's harder to fudget watching.
- 1:28:32Speaker 6: SOME tape i, mean yeah so if they, like bet
- 1:28:34Speaker 6: if you've been, the rules like let's say on the two,
- 1:28:35Speaker 6: front tires then they could take the license away for
- 1:28:38Speaker 6: you to be an. Inspection station SO that i think
- 1:28:41Speaker 6: it is a little bit stricter NOW than.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: I mean i had a guy once it, was, like
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: hey take it for a run, real quick like in
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: IT because i guess if you go on the highway
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: and open it up a, little bit it's more likely to.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: Pass EMISSIONS because I think i was kind of on.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: The edge so guys hooking. YOU up i failed one
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: because of tires one time we had to. DO that
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: i had another one was just a. Light out but
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: it was so satisfying to like go to A, car
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: max buy a little, light bulb pop the rear, light out.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: Change it, you know it's not, that hard and they
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: put it. Back in THAT was i felt kind of proud,
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: of myself. YOU know i, felt like there, you go
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: you can. DO that i know some of.
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: These things you can't just pop.
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: That, Out, NO no.
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: I couldn't now it take a.
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: SCREW out a couple OF screws.
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: I changed you could change a changed some some rear some.
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: REAR lights i wouldn't know how to even get the.
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: Thing off oh.
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: You, start by you hit, the button your recliner lifts. You.
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: Up, Something friend, Dinner's ready hold on, Right then.
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: Jeffrey. And, canada well my wife just informed me that
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: we now have tickets to go watch my nephew's high
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: school drama on. Draft night, Oh so i'm glad we're.
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: Picking late.
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: We'll play i'd be one hundred percent on board with
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: trading back as long as the draft back gets a
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: second round pick that is top forty plus.
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: Something else, Of, COURSE okay i want to go more
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: than ten. TEN spots i would agree.
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: With that my question is how many seasons like last
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: Year would drake may have to have to qualify for
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: a red jacket For The patriots Hall. Of, FAME also
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: i split my Votes between Gronk. And, Adam, sorry fred
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: that's THE best i. Could do how many seasons like
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: last year would he need?
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: To have LIKE five mvp runner up type seasons would?
- 1:30:19Speaker 5: THAT be, i mean based on the way it's, going
- 1:30:21Speaker 5: now he's probably already In over Overwholker.
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: OVER manco i think if you're a quarterback who doesn't
- 1:30:29Speaker 3: Win A super bowl for, your team you have to
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: you have to retire.
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: As, THAT yeah, i mean in, all seriousness if, he
- 1:30:36Speaker 5: has like if he's the starter for ten.
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: Years but doesn't Win A, super bowl.
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: That doesn't Win A super Bowl, Like, drew.
- 1:30:42Speaker 5: Yeah, EXACTLY like i think that's because if he continues
- 1:30:46Speaker 5: to be, the starter he didn't, fall, apart right, you
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: know he had comparable seasons.
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: TO this i was kind of thinking along, This line
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: fred when you brought up the thing, of like what
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: are your what would your expectations be if they had
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: gone like nine to EIGHT and i, was Well then
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: drake pably didn't HAVE an mvp, type SEASON and I
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: think i would be in a much different place so
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: feeling let me, REPHRASE that i don't know HOW sure
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: i am Of what drake, is YET but i have
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: like at least some confidence NOW that i didn't have,
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: last year that like he can play at, a really really.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: High LEVEL but i don't think if we saw that,
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: last year we'd be coming in the season still, being like,
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: you know they were five. Hundred team, you know like
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: maybe it was positive and you, Felt GOOD but i
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: feel a little bit better about what his ceiling might
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: be after last, season then, you know if they had
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: been up and down and he hadn't been. That GOOD
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: but I but i got to see him get back to,
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: that level, YOU know.
- 1:31:33Speaker 6: I FEEL like i feel better about his floor because
- 1:31:35Speaker 6: LIKE now i feel like i'd know that they have.
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: A quarterback is he getting played well enough to carry
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: them To A. Super bowl well he didn't the first
- 1:31:46Speaker 4: chance he had, at it but that was his. First.
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: Chip yeah, you.
- 1:31:48Speaker 6: KNOW now i FEEL like i for the next five to,
- 1:31:51Speaker 6: TEN years i feel like they're not going to have
- 1:31:53Speaker 6: to worry.
- 1:31:54Speaker 4: About Quarterback.
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: H yeah, i mean ONE thing i am sure about
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: is his, athletic ability no doubt. About that the only
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: question still is his. Mental processing, you, know like can
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: he get better In that?
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: Seattle?
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: Game yeah you know two years, from now, same situation
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: does he handle?
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: It, better yeah, That's it that's. IT'S great i mean
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: just generally those situations where, you know does he get
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: to a point where he has such confidence in what
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: he's doing that he could, be, calm cool collected within,
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: those moments, you know and able to run the offense
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: in a way that can exploit what the defense, is
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: doing rather than, you know getting caught up and seems
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: like Maybe.
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: Rushing Angel And el paso Right s in Twelve, year listener,
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: he says walk all Day For United States, Post office
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: so you guys make two hours go, by fast get that.
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: Mail done is that all day IN The Us post
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: office is? Two? Hours, well no he listens to the
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: show for. Two, Hours oh. I'M sorry I get.
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: I'm IN The aj brown boat and really think that
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: that's a key piece For the patriots offense to take a.
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: Step forward my, question is is it against the rules
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: For the Patriots and eagles just ANNOUNCE THAT. A j
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: brown will be Traded in june and they have an
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: agreement already.
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: In, place yes that's what. EVERYONE says i still don't
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: really understand why you.
- 1:33:11Speaker 4: Can't designate a trade. Appost, You, NO no.
- 1:33:14Speaker 5: I, Know THAT but i don't know why people can't
- 1:33:17Speaker 5: say that that the parameters of that trade have been.
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: Worked, out well you just, do it you don't.
- 1:33:21Speaker 5: Say, IT no i, Know That but i'm Saying the
- 1:33:24Speaker 5: Raiders and ravens just just did that and the world
- 1:33:29Speaker 5: Didn't end when the trade ended up not coming.
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: To fruition depends, on, yeah right, but no but that.
- 1:33:35Speaker 5: Was different Know what i'm saying is they made the
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: they announced the trade before the start of the, league
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: YEAR which i mean technically you can't make any moves
- 1:33:43Speaker 5: until the start of.
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: The way but they had to have an excuse to
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: back out, of that which they said was The.
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: PHYSICAL no i. Understand.
- 1:33:49Speaker 5: That yeah my point is they announced the trade when
- 1:33:53Speaker 5: you weren't allowed to announce trades, quote unquote you're not
- 1:33:56Speaker 5: allowed to during traders during, that period like not the
- 1:34:00Speaker 5: start of the, league year and that they. DID it
- 1:34:02Speaker 5: i don't really know what the difference between that and.
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: This, is yeah but everybody says the, same thing so
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: that must. BE illegal, I, agree, WELL.
- 1:34:13Speaker 6: Yeah i don't think we need to get bogged down
- 1:34:15Speaker 6: in by. The semantics is there a chance That on
- 1:34:18Speaker 6: may twenty seventh they, might report just like they did with,
- 1:34:22Speaker 6: that trade the parameters of a trade, have agreed, you
- 1:34:25Speaker 6: Know on, june second they will execute. The, trade SURE
- 1:34:28Speaker 6: but i don't think they're going to say it two
- 1:34:30Speaker 6: months ahead of. The trade, YOU know i think we're
- 1:34:32Speaker 6: still probably too, far away, you know.
- 1:34:34Speaker 3: From the, eagle standpoint what's the incentive now to do that?
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: TRADE early i guess if the deal on the table
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: For the patriots is something you don't think that you
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: can beat and could go away if, you wait then
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: you do. It now but if you think that the
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: draft might change things for some teams and whatever we
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: think That the patriots are offering could get a, lot.
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: Better, then, yeah wait, that's wait.
- 1:34:59Speaker 6: That's the, to me That's the eagles leverage is that
- 1:35:02Speaker 6: they can wait, it out And the patriots might put
- 1:35:05Speaker 6: all their eggs IN The aj brown basket and then
- 1:35:08Speaker 6: some other team or even if it's not, really real
- 1:35:10Speaker 6: they could probably make up some other team is coming
- 1:35:12Speaker 6: in and going to swoop in and steal.
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: The player.
- 1:35:16Speaker 6: You know the only other argument would for doing it
- 1:35:18Speaker 6: now it would be to get twenty twenty six. Draft
- 1:35:20Speaker 6: picks but then you have to eat something.
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: NOW that i. Could understand why would?
- 1:35:24Speaker 5: Be, illegal yeah you can't get you can't have, Both
- 1:35:28Speaker 5: ways like if it's going to be designated for A
- 1:35:30Speaker 5: post june, first cut you, know trade then you can't
- 1:35:34Speaker 5: then make the trade and get stuff NOW that i.
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: Would understand but this the FIRST thing i think is.
- 1:35:42Speaker 5: Probably Interesting the eagles want to wait because you want
- 1:35:46Speaker 5: to wait till the. Draft happens at, this point if,
- 1:35:48Speaker 5: you're like if you're determined to Wait till june first for,
- 1:35:53Speaker 5: cap reasons you want all the other teams to, figure,
- 1:35:55Speaker 5: out WELL yes i satisfied my wide receiver needs in,
- 1:35:58Speaker 5: the draft, OR no, i didn't and now potentially there's
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: more teams in the fray that might be looking TO Get.
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: Aj brett THAT'S.
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: What i wonder Is the patriots get through the draft
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: and let's say they don't pick a. Wide, receiver now
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: does it Feel like philly has all. The leverage you're
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: gonna have a large segment of the fan base, being
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: like well you gotta go Get. Aj brown now you Only.
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: Added dobbs we need more.
- 1:36:17Speaker 5: Than this or If the rams don't get a wide
- 1:36:19Speaker 5: receiver in, the draft they were rumored to be involved
- 1:36:22Speaker 5: and then all of, a Sudden Maybe pooka nikoua's availability
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: isn't quite a sure thing with this whole stuff that
- 1:36:29Speaker 5: he's going through personally off, the field maybe that increases
- 1:36:33Speaker 5: the urgency For for.
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: Sean, mcvacum yeah.
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: Any move for, me though For the rams doesn't feel
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: Like a rams move, to me, YOU know, I mean
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: i know they they went last year and got.
- 1:36:42Speaker 5: Think it's the epitome Of a rams really today, Over,
- 1:36:45Speaker 5: tomorrow well.
- 1:36:47Speaker 6: They they're rumored trade interest was if they Could Flip.
- 1:36:51Speaker 6: DeVante adams, yeah Right.
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: But, i'm saying Now this nicoua stuff wasn't, really known then.
- 1:36:56Speaker 4: That's true. That's true so what if.
- 1:36:59Speaker 2: This is just.
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: Complete hypothetical i'm not basing this on. Any information what
- 1:37:04Speaker 5: if this is a significant thing.
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: For him and.
- 1:37:06Speaker 5: His availability MAYBE the nfl was already talked To the rams,
- 1:37:10Speaker 5: and saying, you know he's gonna face discipline, For.
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: This yeah and his availability is.
- 1:37:14Speaker 5: In question maybe he's suspended for the first six games.
- 1:37:17Speaker 5: Or whatever like he's.
- 1:37:19Speaker 6: Like not to make light, of it but you certainly
- 1:37:20Speaker 6: have to worry about giving him a long. Term, extension
- 1:37:24Speaker 6: absolutely he's extension eligible and should be making top of
- 1:37:28Speaker 6: the market forty plus million dollars, a year and with
- 1:37:31Speaker 6: what's going on with him off, THE field i don't
- 1:37:32Speaker 6: know if you're ready to hand them.
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: That, Contract yeah it's just interesting how.
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: Opposite is like our fan base is completely gunshy about
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: drafting wide receivers And that rams team has proven that
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: they have drafted well. WIDE receivers i mean they, you Know,
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: drafted pooka They Had. Cooper, cup, like no they've added,
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: free agency but it still, seems like, you know they're
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: willing to kind of go outside and address. Free, agents
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: like once you draft, a guy it doesn't give you
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: this insane confidence that, you're, like well we've drafted, Guys
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: before like we'll just keep drafting because we we've hit
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: him in The bast we're gonna drafted.
- 1:38:01Speaker 5: A couple but they've signed a. Lot too, you know
- 1:38:04Speaker 5: did They Draft bobby trees or? Signed him then they,
- 1:38:06Speaker 5: signed him and They Signed brandon cooks, even that, you
- 1:38:10Speaker 5: know they've they've signed a HANDFUL.
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: Of, i mean now that we talk, about it they
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: have had quite a few of, those guys haven't? They
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: late but really those always feel like. COMPLIMENTARY pieces, i
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: Mean Maybe DeVante adams is outside, that box but you
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: know it was Always like cooper cup was, the engine
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: is the engine.
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: In The super. Bowl run they made the Deal.
- 1:38:30Speaker 6: FOR beckham i think they feel like they have a
- 1:38:33Speaker 6: lot of system wide receivers that work well within, the
- 1:38:37Speaker 6: System Like cuping takua and then, You KNOW adams i
- 1:38:39Speaker 6: feel like was added because they needed one, guy that
- 1:38:43Speaker 6: especially when They, faced seattle that could win a one
- 1:38:46Speaker 6: on one like at some point it just becomes my
- 1:38:48Speaker 6: guy against your guy on, the outside and they felt

- 1:41:12Speaker 6: Ifty, nine yeah and it was like there's like ONE
- 1:41:15Speaker 6: hundred i mean players on THE steel.
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: I Mean The rose bowl twenty years ago was a
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: lot better than.
- 1:41:20Speaker 8: It.
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: Is now do you ever go To The rose?
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: Bowl parade that's not, for, me PEOPLE.
- 1:41:24Speaker 6: But usc pen for him was one of the best
- 1:41:28Speaker 6: Football games i've ever. Been to and uh It Was
- 1:41:30Speaker 6: SAM Donald's usc trojans Against Sa Quon Bark Penn State
- 1:41:35Speaker 6: Nitty lyons and there was probably LIKE twenty nfl players
- 1:41:39Speaker 6: on the field and it was a Shootout and DONALD
- 1:41:42Speaker 6: WAS i i thought For sure donald Was, GONNA well
- 1:41:45Speaker 6: i fell in love with w A, super bowl, You
- 1:41:47Speaker 6: KNOW like i thought For sure donald was right age what.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: He is now he did Win A.
- 1:41:52Speaker 8: Super.
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: BOWL yeah i.
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: Was about to say good AND then i, was like,
- 1:41:55Speaker 4: oh crap he is narrator.
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: In The, final dude would you ratherould you Rather see
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: paul get a new car or a?
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: New?
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: Chair oh definitely a, new car unless it's one of
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: those clients that.
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: PICK you i just need about one. Hundred grand one
- 1:42:09Speaker 2: hundred grand would probably solve all of my.
- 1:42:11Speaker 6: Just think, but then, YOU know I said i say
- 1:42:14Speaker 6: that all, The, Time PAUL like.
- 1:42:15Speaker 5: I don't it's not like, a million that's not like one.
- 1:42:17Speaker 5: Hundred grand just get over. The hump then that that
- 1:42:20Speaker 5: would get me from here where they Are and i'd
- 1:42:22Speaker 5: be All set.
- 1:42:24Speaker 2: Nick In New. York city Who Wouldn't paul.
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: Nick In New.
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: York city how do you think the change in defensive
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: coordinator will change how they? Draft defense they seem to
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: blitz a lot more in. The playoffs was that out of?
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: Pure necessity will that be a? Stylistic? Shift well it
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: was the same coordinator really all season.
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: RIGHT now i just think in a, perfect world you
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: want to get pressure. With four you want to have
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: an edge rusher that can compliment those. Guys INSIDE and
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: i think they did have to get a little bit
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: created down the stretch to try to generate some of.
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: THAT pressure i know there's a lot of numbers going
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: around about how they, you know, fell off how much
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: of That, was landry how much was it just, you
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: know wear and tear of. The SEASON but i think
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: everybody that covers this team thinks they need to get
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: better at.
- 1:43:03Speaker 10: That.
- 1:43:03Speaker 6: SPOT yeah i also wonder how much was it opponent
- 1:43:07Speaker 6: driven in the playoffs when you're facing a Really bad chargers,
- 1:43:10Speaker 6: offensive line a turnover prone quarterback and stroud and then
- 1:43:13Speaker 6: the backup quarterback instead, of them and just like heating
- 1:43:16Speaker 6: them up was just the best, STRATEGY yeah i wonder
- 1:43:20Speaker 6: how much of it it was.
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: That too it's funny with, that, defense though there are
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: a couple of times where it's like YOU just, i
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: Mean even seattle In The. SUPER bowl i mean they
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: just here comes there comes to. Zero blits you can
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: tell like They're.
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: Just yeah.
- 1:43:29Speaker 6: They don't they don't do Like the belichick disguise stuff in.
- 1:43:33Speaker 6: That sense they do, it differently like they do zone
- 1:43:35Speaker 6: disguises and post, nap rotations especially. Early downs But when
- 1:43:40Speaker 6: Nyo blitz man like they're coming and you can, SEE
- 1:43:43Speaker 6: it I.
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: SEE donald I mean. DONALD still, I mean i don't
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: know how he was, against those but there was at
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: LEAST one i think in the red zone that he,
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: you know just couldn't get it off.
- 1:43:50Speaker 5: In.
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: Time yeah Paul in providence at the end of one
- 1:43:55Speaker 3: of the shows, last week there was a brief discussion
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: about player development and imediately brought the offensive line, to
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: mind whether it be individual player development or cohesion as.
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: A unit was there any development at all along the
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: offensive line over the course of. Last season After The,
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: super bowl every offensive lineman whoever suited up Came To will,
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: campbell's defense pointing out a myriad of technical shortcomings.
- 1:44:18Speaker 2: That resulted in what.
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: We saw should those, technical shortcomings most of which date
- 1:44:22Speaker 3: back to his time, in college have been approved over
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: the course neck of. The season there is Talk the
- 1:44:28Speaker 3: patriots may draft another offensive lineman early based on his
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: recent Work In, New orleans alabama and last Season In.
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: New england i'm.
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: Not sure morone is the guy that developed young.
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: OLD linemen i.
- 1:44:40Speaker 6: Would disagree that his issues were the same and the
- 1:44:43Speaker 6: ones that he had. IN college i would say his
- 1:44:46Speaker 6: issues in college, were actually for the, most part it
- 1:44:49Speaker 6: pretty much.
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: Cleaned up.
- 1:44:50Speaker 6: You know his issues in college were more about oversetting
- 1:44:55Speaker 6: or drifting off his spot at the top Of the
- 1:44:57Speaker 6: russian allowing the rushers to come back in side. Of
- 1:45:00Speaker 6: him that was what he was getting beat it with CONSISTENTLY.
- 1:45:03Speaker 6: At lsu this was more about vertical setting and putting
- 1:45:08Speaker 6: too much space between him and the rushers and losing that,
- 1:45:11Speaker 6: reach ADVANTAGE which i think. IS different i thought they
- 1:45:14Speaker 6: did a really good job at the offensive line. LAST
- 1:45:16Speaker 6: year i thought there was. Significant improvement now there was
- 1:45:19Speaker 6: better players on, the line and that's part, of IT
- 1:45:22Speaker 6: but i saw a significant improvement from. Those guys campbell,
- 1:45:26Speaker 6: got hurt, you know he got hurt and it kind
- 1:45:28Speaker 6: of derailed. His SEASON but i thought all, Of Them
- 1:45:32Speaker 6: jared Wilson and campbell obviously being the, younger Ones IMPROVED
- 1:45:36Speaker 6: and I Thought ben brown when he had, to Play
- 1:45:37Speaker 6: When vederien lowe had, to play like those guys came
- 1:45:40Speaker 6: in and played at a functional. Level TOO so i
- 1:45:45Speaker 6: don't Know if campbell's issues were tied to were similar
- 1:45:49Speaker 6: to what. WE saw i didn't see him getting bull RUSHED.
- 1:45:51Speaker 6: At lsu now he WASN'T playing nfl PLAYERS at lsu all,
- 1:45:54Speaker 6: the time so that could have been part.
- 1:45:56Speaker 4: Of it but it's.
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: Just hard they got hurt at. THE end, I mean
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: wilson can cost he came back. HE was, I mean
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: i don't know if that's what he was or if
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: that concussion had anything to do, with it but at
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: the very least it showed them that he's going to
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: go back. To center but will, you KNOW towards mcl
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: came back. On IT so i. Don't know it's just
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: hard to judge where they were at. THE end i
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: feel like they kind of peaked In, like november, you
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: know and then after that they were kind of fighting.
- 1:46:17Speaker 5: THROUGH stuff i would just say from ten thousand feet
- 1:46:19Speaker 5: not talking about techniques or any of.
- 1:46:21Speaker 2: That Stuff.
- 1:46:23Speaker 5: Doug maron and the rest of THAT staff i think
- 1:46:27Speaker 5: did a really good job because just watching from two
- 1:46:30Speaker 5: years ago to, last year the amount, of, like, oh
- 1:46:34Speaker 5: man no one blocked, that guy it had to be,
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: LIKE yeah, i mean if, not eliminated pretty close. To
- 1:46:42Speaker 5: eliminated there are always going to be times where, you
- 1:46:45Speaker 5: guys man on man just. Get beat and. They were,
- 1:46:47Speaker 5: You know i'm not telling you it was perfect last
- 1:46:49Speaker 5: year because. It wasn't i'm probably not as high on
- 1:46:51Speaker 5: the overall performance of the offensive line last year as most.
- 1:46:54Speaker 5: People were but the issues that happened the year before were.
- 1:46:59Speaker 2: Guys didn't know who they were supposed. To block they
- 1:47:01Speaker 2: didn't look.
- 1:47:02Speaker 5: Like they were schooled, At ALL and i thought it
- 1:47:04Speaker 5: was almost like a.
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: Fire drill most, you know they had guys like.
- 1:47:10Speaker 5: Guys coming clean IN the a gap and, you know
- 1:47:12Speaker 5: the center's going, one way the god's going the, other
- 1:47:14Speaker 5: way and no one's taking this linebacker who Clearly was
- 1:47:18Speaker 5: there was One In san francisco that really stands out.
- 1:47:20Speaker 5: To me and if they just came free up the
- 1:47:22Speaker 5: middle and there's no one even, touched Them and brissette.
- 1:47:24Speaker 5: GOT killed i didn't see a lot of that. LAST
- 1:47:27Speaker 5: year i saw guys losing one on one battles from time.
- 1:47:30Speaker 5: To time but in terms of, the, coaching yeah they
- 1:47:33Speaker 5: looked like They were they were well schooled and on
- 1:47:35Speaker 5: the same page more often.
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: Than THAT and i think consensus they got from terrible
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: bottom of the league to middle the average to middle of.
- 1:47:42Speaker 4: The, pack yeah and with. Two rookies starting.
- 1:47:45Speaker 2: With two rookies is a. Good, POINT now i would.
- 1:47:47Speaker 6: Agree with you, Whole, Hardly paul, and like let's, face
- 1:47:51Speaker 6: it during, the, season especially it's a lot more about
- 1:47:54Speaker 6: assignments and steering guys in the right direction that it
- 1:47:57Speaker 6: is working On Like will campbell's footwork, And, pastet like
- 1:48:01Speaker 6: you don't have time to Work On will campbell's foot
- 1:48:03Speaker 6: work in his past set when you're preparing FOR The afc, Championship,
- 1:48:06Speaker 6: game like.
- 1:48:07Speaker 4: That's not the time.
- 1:48:07Speaker 6: For that now is the time, For them like that's
- 1:48:10Speaker 6: when they get into, you know their spring camps and things.
- 1:48:12Speaker 6: Like that that's when they can start working on that kind.
- 1:48:14Speaker 6: Of stuff once you're, in season it's it's, game plan it's,
- 1:48:18Speaker 6: you know getting. Assignments correct It's.
- 1:48:20Speaker 5: THAT like i think that THAT'S that i almost Called
- 1:48:22Speaker 5: Them san. Diego Again the chargers, playoff game there was
- 1:48:26Speaker 5: the Play That milton williams made when, everybody's, like wow
- 1:48:30Speaker 5: he just broke in there and just. Killed like no one,
- 1:48:33Speaker 5: Touched him no one was assigned quote unquote to block.
- 1:48:36Speaker 5: THEM like i didn't see that a lot last year With.
- 1:48:39Speaker 5: THE patriots i started a ton two, years AGO so.
- 1:48:42Speaker 5: I DO like, I said i thought that they were
- 1:48:45Speaker 5: pretty pretty well schooled and what their. Assignments were now
- 1:48:48Speaker 5: it's a it's a different thing to, execute PROPERLY but
- 1:48:52Speaker 5: i thought they were on the. Same PAGE and i agree, with.
- 1:48:54Speaker 5: YOU guys i think that's the bigger Job For doug
- 1:48:57Speaker 5: marone is to make sure you're prepared for the very
- 1:49:00Speaker 5: are you personnel packages and blitz schemes and whatnot that
- 1:49:04Speaker 5: the opponent's going to give you every week and make
- 1:49:05Speaker 5: sure that you're Not getting.
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: DRAKE.
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: Killed yea interested to see the guys all. Get Back,
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: What monday april twentieth is when all the players will?
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: BE back, i mean very able talk so much you
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: know us of the combine about players. Getting stronger you
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: realize what a small window, it is though you know
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: it's JUST like i think back to LIKE when i
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: would have an off season, from hockey and like hockey
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: would end In, like march and you'd have all the
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: Way till october basically. To trimp, but like how much
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: work can you? Really do, you know especially like to
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: get that much stronger or what has it been like?
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: SIX weeks, i mean it's it feels like it's been
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: a blink of, an EYE But i. I'M in i
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: mean Not that i'm expecting to see all of a
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: Sudden will cammebll's will come back and see. But longer but.
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: It's all the.
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: Summer, too yeah, you know now continue through, the program so,
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: you know hopefully they make. SOME strides i think that's
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: a huge part of this team is the improvement from
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: those young guys into Year two Tyler.
- 1:49:51Speaker 3: And ludlow would you rather have A Perfect march madness
- 1:49:54Speaker 3: bracket or a perfect first round?
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: Mock draft the.
- 1:49:58Speaker 4: Market the march this bracket you can, make.
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: Money monetize it's, Never happened, but yeah how much.
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: Do you, think though if someone did have a perfect First,
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: round monck that they would never let the internet ever
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: forget that.
- 1:50:10Speaker 3: They, GOT well i think. That's harder isn't it, much harder?
- 1:50:13Speaker 3: Much harder, seven round perfect? Mock draft oh for the?
- 1:50:17Speaker 2: Whole draft? Seven round, just, oh yeah.
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: You're right he just said first that's.
- 1:50:24Speaker 2: RIDICULOUSLY hard i probably have never been done it.
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: Never.
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: WILL oh i think if just, first round though it's,
- 1:50:29Speaker 3: you know thirty, ONE players i think. THIRTY two I
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: Think march madness bracket is probably harder when there's.
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: Thirty two games in the first round of the market
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: and you still got more.
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: To pick, so YEAH but i think they're both.
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: Impossible impossible whichever one makes us more money is.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: The end people have.
- 1:50:48Speaker 3: Gotten perfect first round, mock drafts haven't?
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: They? Perfect no how could you, those.
- 1:50:52Speaker 3: Competition those contests like you win a? MILLION bucks i
- 1:50:55Speaker 3: think people have done it for a.
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: Mock, draft yeah NOT that i. Know, OF well i
- 1:51:00Speaker 2: can tell you when we used to have Our our. Google,
- 1:51:03Speaker 2: rocket wow well we used to have. Our contest no one. Even,
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: came wow that's direct all of the people who still wrote.
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: Red newspapers it's.
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: So disrespectful according to the according To, the, internet uh
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: no one has ever produced a perfect thirty two for.
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: Thirty two, no one not even he.
- 1:51:27Speaker 5: Was getting ready, To, SNIFF yeah. I was i'll bet
- 1:51:30Speaker 5: you no one'sivin.
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: Come close in, Two Thousand, doctor Z A, sports illustrated
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: is often cited for the most accurate mock. Draft ever
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: although he did not achieve a, perfect draft he's correctly
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: predicted a number, of picks Which melkyper junior described, as
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: phenomenal a number.
- 1:51:46Speaker 6: That Numbers, doctor, z though would call each. General manager
- 1:51:51Speaker 6: so that's. So McDonald but that's another thing, to me
- 1:51:54Speaker 6: that's not a. Mock draft like A mock i'm PICKING
- 1:51:59Speaker 6: what i think think is going. To happen like those are.
- 1:52:02Speaker 5: Good reporters, You know will was great AT right willi

- 1:54:46Speaker 6: New balance athletics center is. So good they would have
- 1:54:49Speaker 6: Beaten the seahawks and The. Super bowl if that's where
- 1:54:51Speaker 6: they prepared For The. SUPER bowl i just.
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: Like when we got in There and Taylor and brian
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: and they were all sitting on like, the wing like
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: what's that? Wing area like the, Jury Box and i'm
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: like looking over, at them like what are you? Guys
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: doing and then as soon as we're getting ready, to
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: go they got up and moved back with the. Regular
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: people but the jury box, is interesting just a work
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: area now sitting off to the. Side serving.

- 1:55:33Speaker 5: Something Tells me i'm not going to be as excited
- 1:55:35Speaker 5: as whoever thinks that they would have won of.
- 1:55:38Speaker 2: Its Presence but. I'm looking i'm.
- 1:55:41Speaker 3: Looking for we got we got a few minutes left

- 1:56:24Speaker 6: can we Get a ponder mentioned?
- 1:56:25Speaker 5: In THERE then i feel a little BIT and i
- 1:56:27Speaker 5: would say the GUY that i would hope.
- 1:56:29Speaker 2: For The Most. Kyle. Waim absolutely how do you guys
- 1:56:33Speaker 2: Feel About?
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: TRAVION as i feel like he came Out? Like gangbusters
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: we Were all enamor's consistent with, his speed uh and
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: you know we had a period that he was good
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: and you know when the rookie of, the month.
- 1:56:46Speaker 2: You don't think there's room for improvement.
- 1:56:48Speaker 3: FOR him i think he's going to.
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: Be a developed vision and can he? Be MORE like
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: i think.
- 1:56:53Speaker 6: There's definitely room for improvement, for sure but like, you
- 1:56:57Speaker 6: know maybe. He does but like he had a very.
- 1:56:59Speaker 5: Good, year yeah he had an excellent. Statistical YEAR like
- 1:57:03Speaker 5: i hear what.
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: You're saying you Know what i'm getting at right.
- 1:57:06Speaker 2: Exactly what you're. Talking about, BUT like i think that
- 1:57:08Speaker 2: might just.
- 1:57:08Speaker 5: Be him that's one of those guys that if you're
- 1:57:10Speaker 5: around the league and you looked at, his numbers, you,
- 1:57:12Speaker 5: say wow that's a that's a monumental rookie running, back
- 1:57:15Speaker 5: year especially considering he was kind of the number two
- 1:57:18Speaker 5: guy all year.
- 1:57:18Speaker 4: And he was a Nominee.
- 1:57:19Speaker 5: For explosion but when you, watched it he did, nothing
- 1:57:23Speaker 5: early he did, nothing late and he had a bunch
- 1:57:26Speaker 5: of huge runs in.
- 1:57:27Speaker 2: The, middle yep ye.
- 1:57:29Speaker 5: Scute, It YEAH and i Mean even rabel, SAID that
- 1:57:32Speaker 5: I just i want to run the ball. More consistently
- 1:57:35Speaker 5: we HAD the, x plays but we need to be, more,
- 1:57:37Speaker 5: CONSISTENT right.
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: I mean I think, i shoot somebody posted like his
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: scouting profile and it kind of matched. Up well but
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: IT'S just i just wondered about the. Vision development is
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: that something as a running back that you can start
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: to see it a little better or is your vision
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: kind of what? It is because a lot of THE
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: scouting i read is like he doesn't have. Great vision
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: it's not something that scouts look at, and say well he'll,
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: Develop that oh he'll.
- 1:57:59Speaker 2: Get it get a few for.
- 1:58:00Speaker 4: The game you like to think that it would slow down.
- 1:58:02Speaker 6: For, him yeah, YOU know i think that guys would
- 1:58:04Speaker 6: have good vision or patient and they like know how
- 1:58:07Speaker 6: to set up their blocks and kind of stay let
- 1:58:09Speaker 6: the blocking develop and let the block blocking do the
- 1:58:12Speaker 6: hard work and then like you do the.
- 1:58:15Speaker 2: Fun.
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: Stuff YEAH and i think that how does the fullback?
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: Affect him, you know like having a different, you Know
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: could gilliam is he.
- 1:58:22Speaker 4: Is basically running it for him because that's.
- 1:58:24Speaker 2: The vision the fullback now has the follow the. Full,
- 1:58:27Speaker 2: back YEAH but i.
- 1:58:28Speaker 5: Would just say that if he has a number of
- 1:58:30Speaker 5: years like you did, LAST year i would be okay.
- 1:58:33Speaker 5: With that my fear about him is like what happens
- 1:58:37Speaker 5: if you take away the four sixty?
- 1:58:39Speaker 2: Yard? Touchdowns, yeah?
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: Right sure and then how do you feel if, you
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: know the number one gets hurt and we got to
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: lean on you and you we're, Gonna need we're.
- 1:58:45Speaker 2: Gonna need but if you can tell me, that no
- 1:58:47Speaker 2: he's that's who.
- 1:58:48Speaker 5: He is he's going to be this explosive guy and
- 1:58:50Speaker 5: there's gonna be some two yard runs where it looks
- 1:58:52Speaker 5: like he has, no vision but every once in a
- 1:58:55Speaker 5: while he's gonna spring.
- 1:58:57Speaker 2: One for a. Home run i'll.
- 1:58:58Speaker 6: Take, THAT yeah i think just value with, the mare
- 1:59:00Speaker 6: grinding them down and doing the more.
- 1:59:02Speaker 4: Consistent stuff, all right that's going to be it for.
