- 0:11Speaker 1: Kyle Bradish of The O's is hopping on with us
- 0:13Speaker 1: right now to talk about the Orioles and being in
- 0:15Speaker 1: the mix right now. Kyle, thanks for joining us. How's
- 0:17Speaker 1: the season going?
- 0:20Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks for having me on. Guys, you know season's going.
- 0:25Speaker 2: It's been a grindy one. Obviously, it would be like
- 0:29Speaker 2: to be in a better position than where we are
- 0:31Speaker 2: right now, but you know, there's still some games left
- 0:34Speaker 2: to play, so hopefully we'll pick it up and make
- 0:37Speaker 2: a whole playoff push.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Hey, Kyle, isn't every season grindy? Isn't every season grinding?
- 0:43Speaker 3: This isn't your first season. You've been through a bunch
- 0:46Speaker 3: of these now, isn't doesn't? I mean I love when
- 0:48Speaker 3: you're like, oh, it's grindy, But isn't every season kind
- 0:50Speaker 3: of grindy?
- 0:51Speaker 4: Good, bad? I mean they're different kind of grinds. Do
- 0:54Speaker 4: you feel that way? Yeah?
- 0:56Speaker 2: Absolutely. It's a long one sixty two. This one's felt
- 1:01Speaker 2: a little longer at some stretches, so I think it's
- 1:05Speaker 2: been a little more grindy than in the past.
- 1:09Speaker 3: But you're a starting pitcher. You're a starting pitcher. You
- 1:12Speaker 3: only gotta go out there thirty times a year. Shouldn't
- 1:14Speaker 3: it be shouldn't it be like, oh, vacation, vacation for
- 1:18Speaker 3: the next four days, and then oh yeah, now I
- 1:20Speaker 3: gotta get ready to pitch. So I feel like it's
- 1:22Speaker 3: a starting pitcher, it's a little bit easier to get
- 1:24Speaker 3: through every day.
- 1:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I mean there's a lot that goes on behind the
- 1:30Speaker 2: scenes as a starting pitcher, but you're also out there
- 1:32Speaker 2: with your guys every day trying to win. So when
- 1:36Speaker 2: team's not playing good or team is playing good, you're
- 1:39Speaker 2: right there with them.
- 1:41Speaker 6: I can. I can comment on this. Sitting there and
- 1:44Speaker 6: not playing makes it way longer than going out there
- 1:47Speaker 6: and playing every day, so I can comment on that.
- 1:50Speaker 6: Wasn't a starting pitcher. I just sat on the bench
- 1:52Speaker 6: with you guys a lot. But do you feel like
- 1:54Speaker 6: the season's different now that you are fully off of
- 1:59Speaker 6: your recovery from Tommy John fully back where you're like, Okay,
- 2:02Speaker 6: you played a little bit. Rehab is extensive for as
- 2:07Speaker 6: long as you were out, but now you're like, Okay,
- 2:09Speaker 6: I'm in it for a whole season. Is this season
- 2:12Speaker 6: feel different coming back from that? Yeah?
- 2:15Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 2:16Speaker 2: The past two years, just having to be going through
- 2:19Speaker 2: that rehab process, it definitely made the season feel longer
- 2:24Speaker 2: in a different way, mostly because I wasn't able to
- 2:28Speaker 2: be out there with my guys competing. I was just
- 2:30Speaker 2: watching the whole season, not just every four days, but
- 2:34Speaker 2: right now. It's just get my body right in between
- 2:38Speaker 2: starts to go out there and compete for the thirty
- 2:41Speaker 2: three starts that you try to make all year.
- 2:44Speaker 6: All right, So you went through that the last two years.
- 2:47Speaker 6: Then the team comes to you with an extension offer.
- 2:50Speaker 6: Can you give us a little bit more of what
- 2:52Speaker 6: goes on in that than we normally get, because it's
- 2:55Speaker 6: like extension. Really happy to be part of the team,
- 2:57Speaker 6: love to be here for the next few years.
- 2:59Speaker 4: It's going to be great.
- 3:00Speaker 6: How does that process start? Is it stressful for you
- 3:05Speaker 6: or is it something that you say, agents take care
- 3:08Speaker 6: of it. I'm gonna throw speedballs up there.
- 3:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:13Speaker 2: So this was not the first time they came to
- 3:16Speaker 2: me with an offer. We didn't agree to like our
- 3:20Speaker 2: our number. So in between not agreeing and then going
- 3:24Speaker 2: to the hearing they made an offer, nothing really came
- 3:29Speaker 2: out of it. So then kind of went in the
- 3:33Speaker 2: season not really thinking anything of it. And then first
- 3:36Speaker 2: they all start break they reached out to my agent
- 3:39Speaker 2: with another offer, and then we spent kind of that
- 3:42Speaker 2: four or five days just going back and forth negotiating,
- 3:47Speaker 2: and then we got to a number where I think
- 3:50Speaker 2: everybody was comfortable at, and it really came down to
- 3:54Speaker 2: that this is kind of where me and my wife
- 3:57Speaker 2: wanted to spend the next five years. We're comfortable here.
- 4:00Speaker 2: We really like the staff that's been brought in this
- 4:03Speaker 2: year and the pitching guys. I've been with them for
- 4:06Speaker 2: the past two three years, so they're great, and just
- 4:10Speaker 2: really comfortable with those guys, Kyle.
- 4:14Speaker 3: So it came together really quick. Then, from what you're saying,
- 4:17Speaker 3: was there pressure? Was there any pressure from on you?
- 4:21Speaker 6: Not?
- 4:21Speaker 3: I don't want to say from anyone outside of because
- 4:23Speaker 3: nobody can understand the pressure as players we put on ourselves.
- 4:26Speaker 4: What was their pressure when you first heard it.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I mean, you said it came together in a few days,
- 4:30Speaker 3: But when they first came back to you, were you
- 4:32Speaker 3: just like, man, I really want to get this done.
- 4:33Speaker 3: I just want to get this done because I love
- 4:35Speaker 3: it here so much.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I think with that first offer that they came before
- 4:42Speaker 2: spring training kind of laid some groundwork, so it kind
- 4:45Speaker 2: of made this one a little easier to get to
- 4:47Speaker 2: where we needed to get to. But I think the
- 4:52Speaker 2: only pressure was it was me putting it on myself
- 4:56Speaker 2: if I was really comfortable turning down that amount of
- 5:00Speaker 2: money to take the chance of whatever happening over the
- 5:04Speaker 2: next two and a half years. And then kind of
- 5:06Speaker 2: looked at myself and talked to my wife about it
- 5:08Speaker 2: is like, we're really happy here, so why not spend
- 5:12Speaker 2: the next five years here?
- 5:14Speaker 6: What about the team that you look at, the guys
- 5:16Speaker 6: that are on the field, does that go into your
- 5:19Speaker 6: thought process? You said right after the All Star break,
- 5:22Speaker 6: you go, okay, I'm looking around. We got basioh we
- 5:25Speaker 6: got Boz, we got ad Okay, no, so we got
- 5:30Speaker 6: Westburg coming back, we got Hunt, Gunner, all those things.
- 5:33Speaker 6: Does that go to your thought process?
- 5:36Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 5:36Speaker 2: Absolutely, It's more so how I feel comfortable, Like in
- 5:41Speaker 2: the clubhouse. We have a great clubhouse, great group of guys,
- 5:45Speaker 2: and the talent speaks for itself. Like you said, you
- 5:48Speaker 2: got Gunner, Bassio, Wessey coming back, Shane signed on for
- 5:52Speaker 2: the next four years. Obviously the big one is the
- 5:55Speaker 2: polar bear kind of leading the charge right there. But
- 5:59Speaker 2: I think having those guys and just knowing that you're
- 6:03Speaker 2: going to be around those guys for the next four
- 6:04Speaker 2: or five years and being able to compete with them
- 6:08Speaker 2: definitely makes this.
- 6:10Speaker 5: Easier to sign. And you wanting to do that.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Science experiment for the one minute, we have to tell
- 6:19Speaker 1: you about why we love Quint's electrolytes, including watermelon salt,
- 6:23Speaker 1: raspberry salt. And I'm holding a citrus salt. Just opened
- 6:26Speaker 1: it and pour some powder into my water, shake it up,
- 6:29Speaker 1: and AJ, why do you love it?
- 6:30Speaker 3: I love Quints because after a long night out, a
- 6:33Speaker 3: long day at the gym, a long walk in this
- 6:35Speaker 3: Florida humidity, it tastes great and it gives me all
- 6:37Speaker 3: the electrolytes I need. Why sugar free Stevy, a free
- 6:41Speaker 3: Keto approve and taste sweet because of that delicious fermented rice.
- 6:48Speaker 1: It does taste really good. I'm drinking it right now
- 6:51Speaker 1: while we talking about it. It's also made in the USA,
- 6:53Speaker 1: rigorously third party tested, give your body what it really
- 6:56Speaker 1: needs to stay hydrated. Go to quints dot com slash

- 7:11Speaker 1: This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or
- 7:13Speaker 1: prevent any disease.
- 7:15Speaker 6: All right, Well, the guy that I jokingly skipped over
- 7:19Speaker 6: slash not is gone Adlie Rutsman. Both of you made
- 7:22Speaker 6: your debut the same year. When you see a guy
- 7:25Speaker 6: like that gone one, were you surprised too? What's your
- 7:29Speaker 6: reaction or interaction with him since that trade?
- 7:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it was definitely surprising that it actually happened.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Everybody saw all the rumors and everything, but for it
- 7:44Speaker 2: to actually happen was definitely surprising. I know it hit
- 7:51Speaker 2: this clubhouse hard. I've played with Adli or against Ali
- 7:56Speaker 2: basically my whole life. Not a lot of people know
- 8:00Speaker 2: you're up in Oregon, fifteen minutes from each other, playing
- 8:02Speaker 2: literal league against each other. He caught me in the
- 8:05Speaker 2: cape during summer ball in college and then throughout like
- 8:09Speaker 2: our whole minor league and now major league career. He's
- 8:13Speaker 2: kind of been that guy that's been behind the plate
- 8:14Speaker 2: for me. So yeah, it was definitely difficult, and it's
- 8:19Speaker 2: tough to kind of get behind the business side, but
- 8:24Speaker 2: also I understand the personal side of like, that's that's
- 8:29Speaker 2: our guy, and now you see him in a different uniform.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Are you gonna throw at him, Kyle first time?
- 8:35Speaker 3: You're just gonna buzzle on up and not hit him
- 8:37Speaker 3: because look, I have my ildly shirt. He makes his
- 8:39Speaker 3: debut today, So when you play the Red Sox, I'm
- 8:42Speaker 3: not advocating hitting him, but you know, just buzz the tower,
- 8:46Speaker 3: trim some beard up there for him a little bit.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I texted him, tell him I'm gonna miss you,
- 8:52Speaker 2: wish you the best luck, and be on the lookout
- 8:54Speaker 2: for that front hip syncer. So if it, if it
- 8:58Speaker 2: doesn't sink, we'll see what happens.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Nice. I love it. I love it. Was there anything
- 9:02Speaker 4: that happened for you on deadline day?
- 9:03Speaker 3: You obviously signed the extension, so you weren't worried, But
- 9:06Speaker 3: were you checking your phone every couple of minutes because
- 9:08Speaker 3: you guys are still in the wild cards, So were
- 9:10Speaker 3: you sitting there going all right, if we can make
- 9:12Speaker 3: this move, we can make this move, then we can
- 9:14Speaker 3: really get into this race.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I think I think everybody likes to play GM, especially
- 9:20Speaker 2: around that time, I was I was more looking at
- 9:24Speaker 2: what we were going to do kind of with like
- 9:27Speaker 2: Rogers or those other guys that were kind of on
- 9:29Speaker 2: the end of the contracts.
- 9:31Speaker 5: Especially with the Adlee news.
- 9:32Speaker 2: You never knew what was going to happen, but just
- 9:35Speaker 2: knowing we are still kind of in the hunt for
- 9:38Speaker 2: that wildcard spot. You're hoping some things are going to happen,
- 9:43Speaker 2: but you understand some things that don't happen. But at
- 9:48Speaker 2: the end of the day, like a lot Dean Kramer,
- 9:51Speaker 2: one of my best friends, Welsey one of my better
- 9:54Speaker 2: friends on the team too. Wardy and Adley are gone now,
- 10:00Speaker 2: but I think it wasn't like a full tear down.
- 10:02Speaker 2: You still have Rogers, who's kind of been one of
- 10:05Speaker 2: the leaders in this rotation for the past two years.
- 10:07Speaker 2: So I think we're we're still in a good spot.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Just one games.
- 10:12Speaker 6: It's three games insurmountable though, Like we look at it
- 10:15Speaker 6: and we go there's a lot of teams right in
- 10:17Speaker 6: that spot. For you guys on the field right now,
- 10:20Speaker 6: when you look up at the scoreboard and you're lying
- 10:23Speaker 6: if you don't look at the scoreboard, because you got
- 10:24Speaker 6: a lot that you're not doing while you're not pitching.
- 10:27Speaker 6: But what is it? Does a feel Does three games
- 10:31Speaker 6: feel insurmountable?
- 10:34Speaker 2: No, I think we've been in the worst position earlier
- 10:39Speaker 2: on in the year than where we are right now.
- 10:42Speaker 5: And I think it all just takes.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Is you get on a run three five games here
- 10:46Speaker 2: and you're right back in it, or you're in the
- 10:49Speaker 2: playoff spot.
- 10:51Speaker 5: Three games is not that bigger deal.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I mean, we've been playing these guys, We're playing the
- 10:57Speaker 2: Twins right now, just got done with the Rangers. We
- 11:00Speaker 2: got a lot of other good games coming up, So no,
- 11:04Speaker 2: three games is not crazy to think about.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Hey, Kyle, you mentioned Kramer and we talked about Adlete.
- 11:11Speaker 3: He pitched against you guys last night in a Twins uniform.
- 11:15Speaker 3: He got he got a win. Sorry, but the facts.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Was there any extra trash talking from your bench, like
- 11:21Speaker 3: to him when he goes out there and takes around.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Did you see any extra emotion from from from Dean
- 11:26Speaker 3: and what you would normally see because you watch him
- 11:28Speaker 3: pitch a lot.
- 11:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been watching him pitch for the past five years.
- 11:34Speaker 2: He's pretty even keel out there. He doesn't show too
- 11:37Speaker 2: much emotion. I know that he was definitely We talked
- 11:42Speaker 2: about it before the start, and then we went and
- 11:44Speaker 2: got coffee this morning and kind of recapped it. But
- 11:48Speaker 2: there was definitely some emotion going into it, just knowing
- 11:51Speaker 2: these are his friends, he's been playing with him for
- 11:53Speaker 2: the past five years, but also wanting to go get
- 11:57Speaker 2: that win for his new team is ahead of us
- 12:00Speaker 2: in the standings. But I know there was some trash
- 12:05Speaker 2: talk early on from myself as well, But I mean,
- 12:10Speaker 2: he pitched a great game, so it's kind of kind
- 12:13Speaker 2: of tough to keep talking trash when he's doing what
- 12:16Speaker 2: he did.
- 12:17Speaker 6: I wait, trash talk, like what are you like, I'm
- 12:19Speaker 6: gonna watch you better than you're gonna watch me from
- 12:21Speaker 6: the bench, Like how do pictures? Trash talk back and
- 12:25Speaker 6: forth to each other.
- 12:27Speaker 2: We got our own little inside jokes that we've had
- 12:30Speaker 2: over the years, so kind of take his mind off
- 12:33Speaker 2: of the game plan out there and focus on what
- 12:36Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 12:37Speaker 6: All right, So, who has the advantage? We talked about
- 12:39Speaker 6: Adlie talked about, you know, the front hip, Who has
- 12:42Speaker 6: the advantage when a dude caught you for what you
- 12:45Speaker 6: said essentially your entire life. Who has the advantage? Do
- 12:49Speaker 6: you know him better than he knows you. Does he
- 12:52Speaker 6: know you better than you know him?
- 12:57Speaker 5: That's a good one.
- 12:58Speaker 2: I mean, I don't think I've really ever thrown to
- 13:01Speaker 2: a against the guy that's caught me as much as
- 13:04Speaker 2: Ali has, so he might think he has advantage on pitch,
- 13:08Speaker 2: secret sing and stuff. But I feel like when I'm
- 13:11Speaker 2: out there on my game, I have I have the
- 13:14Speaker 2: advantage with the ball in my hand.
- 13:19Speaker 4: That's fair, that's fair, that's fair.
- 13:21Speaker 3: But you know, as a catcher, you always think, oh,
- 13:23Speaker 3: I knew exactly what he's gonna throw right. I faced
- 13:25Speaker 3: him in I faced him in BP and spring training
- 13:28Speaker 3: and he broke my bat once, but only because I
- 13:31Speaker 3: wasn't ready. So as a catcher, you always think you
- 13:33Speaker 3: have the advantage, and then the pitcher is always like,
- 13:35Speaker 3: oh no, here's a new pitch that I just learned,
- 13:37Speaker 3: a trick pitch you didn't you didn't know I had,
- 13:39Speaker 3: And then they get you out and then they laugh
- 13:40Speaker 3: and yeah, whatever it.
- 13:42Speaker 5: Is, might have might have to get a new one
- 13:44Speaker 5: when I face him.
- 13:46Speaker 6: We'll do it.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Yeah, why not try it? Then?
- 13:50Speaker 3: Just don't give up a hit, because then you know
- 13:52Speaker 3: something bad might be said back to you, So you
- 13:56Speaker 3: know it's it's.
- 13:56Speaker 4: All fair though, it's all fair, it's all part of
- 13:58Speaker 4: the fun.
- 13:59Speaker 3: People just don't understand how much there is a lot
- 14:01Speaker 3: of trash talking amongst friends that people don't really get
- 14:05Speaker 3: to see. It's more there's not a lot of words,
- 14:07Speaker 3: there's some verbal there's some hand signals that a lot
- 14:10Speaker 3: of people don't see.
- 14:11Speaker 4: So I live for it. I live for it, Kyle,
- 14:13Speaker 4: and listen.
- 14:14Speaker 3: I hope you'll have an awesome time when you do
- 14:17Speaker 3: get to face them for the first time.
- 14:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:19Speaker 5: No, I'm definitely, I'm definitely looking forward.
- 14:21Speaker 6: To all right, Kyle, I got a one nerdy looking
- 14:24Speaker 6: at the stats. At the beginning of the year, you're
- 14:27Speaker 6: walking way too many dudes, way more than and recently,
- 14:31Speaker 6: I don't know if it's the last six or eight games,
- 14:34Speaker 6: whatever it is, it is dropped. I think you had
- 14:38Speaker 6: a five walk game and then since then you have
- 14:41Speaker 6: been nails, not perfect, but nails. Was there a concerted
- 14:44Speaker 6: effort to do something different so that obviously no picture
- 14:48Speaker 6: wants to walk dudes, But was there a concerted effort
- 14:51Speaker 6: from that line that day that you had five walks
- 14:54Speaker 6: till now?
- 14:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean we've been kind of talking about it.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Me they're starting pitchers and are like pitching coaches. Just
- 15:05Speaker 2: as a whole, we've walked way too many guys, especially
- 15:08Speaker 2: early on in the year, and I think the biggest
- 15:12Speaker 2: thing that we've kind of gotten back to is strike
- 15:15Speaker 2: one percentage, winning kind of the one to one counts
- 15:18Speaker 2: and then putting guys away when you have two strikes
- 15:22Speaker 2: on them. And that's kind of been the mentality of
- 15:24Speaker 2: this whole staff the past month or two. And I
- 15:29Speaker 2: feel like for me personally, I've just more times than not,
- 15:32Speaker 2: i haven't felt comfortable out there and kind of my
- 15:34Speaker 2: setup and delivering stuff so been battling that the majority
- 15:39Speaker 2: of the year. The past, like you said, the past
- 15:41Speaker 2: four or five feel like they're getting back to normal.
- 15:46Speaker 1: This is that time of year, AJ, It is Baseball's
- 15:49Speaker 1: time to shine, and it is See geeks time to
- 15:52Speaker 1: shine with MLB tickets and finding the best pricing seating
- 15:57Speaker 1: and games that are even sold out available on Sea Geek.
- 16:02Speaker 3: Absolutely if you want to go to the biggest matchups
- 16:04Speaker 3: coming up. We have Yankees clubs coming up. Where's Yankees
- 16:07Speaker 3: Red Sox? That means stuff. Again, there's some big moments
- 16:09Speaker 3: that are coming up here in the as the penachases
- 16:12Speaker 3: really heat up. Go to seke can find those green
- 16:15Speaker 3: tickets with the best deals and get yourself out to
- 16:17Speaker 3: an MLB game.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're straightforward with you. They will actually put
- 16:22Speaker 1: a red dot next to a ticket that they don't
- 16:24Speaker 1: feel is your best look. Green dot means very good
- 16:29Speaker 1: code for you. It's Territory ten ten percent off your
- 16:33Speaker 1: next set of MLB tickets at seakeek. That's ten percent
- 16:37Speaker 1: off MLB tickets when you use the promo code Territory
- 16:40Speaker 1: one zero. Make sure you click the link in the
- 16:42Speaker 1: description to download the app and have the code automatically
- 16:44Speaker 1: added to your account so you can use it later.
- 16:47Speaker 6: I got a question about your manager when he got
- 16:49Speaker 6: hit in the face and then he came out and
- 16:52Speaker 6: he had whatever orbital whatever he had. People were like, WHOA,
- 16:56Speaker 6: this team needs to get behind that. Does a manager
- 17:00Speaker 6: hit in the face and then coming back out like
- 17:02Speaker 6: pump the dudes up? Or you guys like from your
- 17:05Speaker 6: pitcher's bench, are you like get out of the way, Craig.
- 17:10Speaker 2: No, I mean that was I was actually inside for that.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I saw it on TV and then I saw him
- 17:17Speaker 2: walk in, So that was that was scary. But thankfully
- 17:21Speaker 2: I was not doug out to see that, but yeah,
- 17:24Speaker 2: I mean, I think that's one of those things where
- 17:27Speaker 2: you want to kind of rally behind your manager for
- 17:31Speaker 2: doing that and then come back out and finish in
- 17:33Speaker 2: the game. Just kind of shows you that toughness of
- 17:37Speaker 2: what this team needs to be about. And I think
- 17:42Speaker 2: we came back and won that game. But no, I'll
- 17:46Speaker 2: be great guy. I'm very very happy and very fortunate
- 17:50Speaker 2: to have him as their manager.
- 17:51Speaker 3: An Kyle, I know you're a starting pitcher, and sometimes
- 17:55Speaker 3: it's hard for starting pitchers to talk to position players
- 17:58Speaker 3: because you know, we have to grind every day. We're
- 18:01Speaker 3: not special teams players. We can only play half the ball, right,
- 18:04Speaker 3: we have to play on both sides. But do you
- 18:06Speaker 3: say anything to Gunner or Jackson, Holiday or Cowser or
- 18:10Speaker 3: any of the position players on a daily basis, like, Hey,
- 18:14Speaker 3: come on, like I need you today, We need you
- 18:16Speaker 3: to have energy today.
- 18:17Speaker 4: I need to win out of you.
- 18:18Speaker 3: I need a home er out of you today, Gunner,
- 18:20Speaker 3: Or do you just kind of walk by and give
- 18:22Speaker 3: them the old picture like.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Some days.
- 18:28Speaker 2: I mean, we all kind of joke around in the clubhouse,
- 18:31Speaker 2: and I don't think it's a secret in the clubhouse,
- 18:36Speaker 2: that offense has been struggling as of late, just like
- 18:40Speaker 2: early in the air pitching was struggling.
- 18:42Speaker 5: And I think we have.
- 18:44Speaker 2: That good of a clubhouse to where guys feel comfortable
- 18:47Speaker 2: to go talk to them. But with those guys you mentioned,
- 18:51Speaker 2: I mean I have my handshakes with Gunner and Kowser,
- 18:55Speaker 2: and we talk kind of on a daily basis, whether
- 18:58Speaker 2: it's playing games or actually talking baseball. So I think
- 19:02Speaker 2: we have a pretty good relationship to where, yeah, if
- 19:05Speaker 2: I went up to them and said, hey, need a
- 19:07Speaker 2: homer are you today?
- 19:09Speaker 5: They completely get it.
- 19:12Speaker 6: Has somebody stepped into Adlie's role you talk about the
- 19:15Speaker 6: handshakes and everything, that leadership role or is that something
- 19:19Speaker 6: that's not even We don't even need somebody to be Adlie.
- 19:21Speaker 6: Everyone just needs to be themselves.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Adley's such a kind of special personality,
- 19:30Speaker 2: Especially in that clubhouse. He was friends with everybody, So
- 19:33Speaker 2: I don't think you really build that that.
- 19:38Speaker 5: Role that he was to this clubhouse.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Everybody kind of goes about their business and Adley was
- 19:45Speaker 2: more of a kind of lead by example guy anyways,
- 19:50Speaker 2: but he definitely was one of those guys to keep
- 19:52Speaker 2: a clubhouse light and kind of he was our DJ
- 19:56Speaker 2: on the bus, so finding those spots to Phil, just
- 20:02Speaker 2: having fun and not making them the game too serious.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I mean, Pete's definitely one of those guys. Bassett starting pitchers,
- 20:10Speaker 2: kind of one of our jobs is be a vibe
- 20:12Speaker 2: guy when you're not pitching. So I like to think
- 20:15Speaker 2: that myself, uh fills that role a little bit in
- 20:19Speaker 2: the clubhouse. But Narvey coming over to the Red Sox
- 20:23Speaker 2: just says the catcher he's been great, very knowledgeable, knows
- 20:30Speaker 2: his staff already and he's caught five or six games
- 20:33Speaker 2: in a row.
- 20:34Speaker 5: But he's been great.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Back there, Kyle, we appreciate the time.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Yeah, if you ever need to get hot, ask ask Bassett.
- 20:41Speaker 3: I'll pick the jersey. I think last time I picked
- 20:43Speaker 3: the jersey, you guys went on a run. So if
- 20:45Speaker 3: you need to get hot, gole just let me know,
- 20:48Speaker 3: all right.
- 20:48Speaker 5: I'll let you guys know.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Kyle, thanks for stopping by. Great to talk to you.
- 20:53Speaker 5: All right, Thanks guys, and I show you how deep
- 20:56Speaker 5: the rabbit hole go.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Data Dish Inside Edge, pointing out today how the Nationals
- 21:06Speaker 1: are still leading baseball and slugging percentage. Aja had a
- 21:09Speaker 1: four forty clip. The league average is four to one,
- 21:12Speaker 1: and it's not like that ballpark is a bandbox. A
- 21:15Speaker 1: lot of guys that really improved. Some have left now
- 21:17Speaker 1: via trade, like a Luis Garcia junior. Can we show them?
- 21:20Speaker 1: Mike Petriello tweet two. He wrote a story about how
- 21:23Speaker 1: the twenty twenty six mass were trending towards being the
- 21:25Speaker 1: first team in history to not give a single plate
- 21:28Speaker 1: appearance to a hit or older than twenty eight. Unfortunately
- 21:30Speaker 1: that was snapped by Miles Michael has been jitting, but
- 21:34Speaker 1: he still said youngest group ever.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Yeah, well, the Miles Michael's He went up there to bunt,
- 21:40Speaker 3: which I thought was funny because most analytic people don't
- 21:42Speaker 3: believe in bunning, so he had to bunt, and they
- 21:44Speaker 3: sent Miles Michael's up there because apparently none of their
- 21:47Speaker 3: position players can bump, which I also find funny. But
- 21:51Speaker 3: they rake, Listen, that's why the over in the Nationals
- 21:54Speaker 3: game has been such a hit.
- 21:55Speaker 4: They raked.
- 21:55Speaker 3: They give up a lot of runs. Also, they score
- 21:58Speaker 3: a lot and they give up a lot. Okay, so well, yeah,
- 22:01Speaker 3: James Wood cj Abram, this team, Kevira Ruiz, we see
- 22:05Speaker 3: you before he got treated. These dudes could rake and
- 22:08Speaker 3: they figured something out. So good for them. I'm figuring
- 22:10Speaker 3: it out. But they got to figure out how to
- 22:13Speaker 3: pitch at some point, so Data Dish had to pitch.
- 22:15Speaker 4: Please Nationals.
- 22:19Speaker 6: The inside that Data Dish is going to tell you
- 22:23Speaker 6: this is something to watch for next year. They did it.
- 22:27Speaker 6: They did it this year. They had good players last year,
- 22:30Speaker 6: but to make the turnaround that they've done with such
- 22:32Speaker 6: young players and have the amount of success they've had
- 22:36Speaker 6: on the hitting side, like who who? Like the Blue
- 22:40Speaker 6: Jays last year got tons of credit for that and
- 22:42Speaker 6: they made it to the World Series, Like they kind
- 22:45Speaker 6: of fell off of it again. What's gonna happen next
- 22:48Speaker 6: year for the Nats. I'm super intrigued.
- 22:50Speaker 1: And they're not the only one. The Marlins and the
- 22:52Speaker 1: Cardinals also are some of the fewest played appearances ever
- 22:56Speaker 1: from twenty nine plus players ages nine or older. So
- 23:02Speaker 1: seeing the youth movement. We've been talking about that for
- 23:04Speaker 1: years already on this show.
- 23:06Speaker 6: So you're seeing some of the older teams considerable cheaper players.
- 23:12Speaker 1: And position players, I think more so than pitchers really
- 23:15Speaker 1: being judged once they hit thirty. I think that's the thing,
- 23:18Speaker 1: right now too,
