- 0:00it's laced up let's go it's time for banter with
- 0:04the boys welcome back to banter with the boys
- 0:17gridiron updates don't know what happened there
- 0:19but we are here today to recap the soup or bowl
- 0:23uh recap i already said recap Yeah, that big
- 0:28old trophy back there. Yep, there it is. That's
- 0:30the Lombardi. There it is. Thank you. The Lombardi.
- 0:33Yep. Well, we will be giving that to somebody
- 0:36today, just not me. Yep. Number one viewer, we're
- 0:40giving that to. Sorry, I was just reading the
- 0:43trophy of who it was actually to and for. That's
- 0:46wild. Did you see this? Did you actually ever
- 0:48read this? You should read that. You can read
- 0:51it out loud. Good job, Robert. Most likely to
- 0:53have been a trash can in a previous life. I did
- 0:57not expect that. Congratulations. Yeah. Oh, shit.
- 1:01Anyway, well, we're here. Yes. Justin's here
- 1:04this week. What's up, dog? What's happening?
- 1:06What up? Packers still not win the Super Bowl.
- 1:08Nope. Not yet. Waiting. Waiting. It's okay. We
- 1:11can wait together. But we're still waiting for
- 1:13the first one. Roberto? Yeah, welcome to the
- 1:16sports abyss for the next six months. Sports
- 1:20abyss. Yeah, football. No football. Yeah, but
- 1:23the listeners could tune in to the Wild in two
- 1:26weeks. Oh, Fast Laps, homie, on Banter with the
- 1:29Voice. Oh, yes. The other show that's on Banter
- 1:31with the Voice. My bad. Wait, I thought F1 just
- 1:33wrapped. It did, but it's about to start up again
- 1:36at the end of the month. So, shameless plug for
- 1:38Fast Laps. Last Gears of War. No, no, but I'm
- 1:41not going to plug that. With that attitude, Jesus.
- 1:44Jake's here. Yes, I am. What's up? Hi. Well,
- 1:50all right. Kev, you're here. We still don't have
- 1:54Kev Mike after 20 episodes this season. Oh, speaking
- 1:57of episodes and crap ton of episodes, well, there
- 2:00it is. This is the official end of season three
- 2:03of Gridiron Updates. And last week's episode
- 2:06was our how much? Or that's our official three
- 2:10-year anniversary. Three -year anniversary. So
- 2:12if you're still here with us, we didn't buy any
- 2:15flowers or nothing, but there's some golf claps
- 2:17going on. We really did. That's good enough.
- 2:19But we've done it. Yes, we've done it. Yeah,
- 2:23so if you're still here, we appreciate you. We
- 2:26should probably hop into the soup or bowl. Recap,
- 2:30Kev. Getting us down. Like butter. What were
- 2:40you saying about that interaction with Pam Oliver?
- 2:43And then I said butter. That's great. No. Yeah,
- 2:46anyway. Butter who? Nothing. Whoop, whoop, there
- 2:49it is. What are we talking about? The Super Bowl.
- 2:53Seattle. Getting the dub. 29 -13 as we all know.
- 2:58Congrats on your choice. Yeah, only one of us
- 3:01said the truth. Okay, but to be fair, how nervous
- 3:06were you about two to three quarters through
- 3:08that this thing could go either way? I was actually
- 3:09getting a little amped like, oh, we're about
- 3:12to get a football game here. Somebody in one
- 3:14of my other chats was like, oh, I figured the
- 3:17game would start in the fourth quarter. But even
- 3:20at halftime when they're down nine, I still felt
- 3:22like the Patriots, they'll probably figure something
- 3:25out. No, dude, I was never concerned. Only because
- 3:28of how absolutely ridiculous that defense played
- 3:32the entire game. You're bound to give up something.
- 3:35Let me learn how to speak here for a minute.
- 3:39You're bound to give up some sort of score to
- 3:42the second highest scoring offense in the league
- 3:44in the Super Bowl. You know, at some point. So
- 3:46I wasn't tripping. But, yeah, thanks, by the
- 3:49way. You got one. That was a long thank you.
- 3:52One touchdown out of that second highest scoring
- 3:54offense. Right, right, right. Hold on here. I'm
- 3:58trying to find out. I'm trying to hold on here.
- 4:02Somebody else also picked Seahawks. Ah, crap,
- 4:06of course. I didn't write it down. I know Dom
- 4:08did for sure, which means actually we'll talk
- 4:11about it in news. And then Dom, and I think it
- 4:14was. Ben, but I want to give him that credit
- 4:17if he didn't do it. It's not here. I think it's
- 4:19Ben, but anyway. Out of sight, out of mind. There's
- 4:21a couple of us, but at the table, yes, yes, your
- 4:23boy has done it. Where do we want to start here?
- 4:28Other than Seattle coming out strong with that
- 4:31elite defense, obviously. And what about, you
- 4:33know, everybody's kind of up in arms today about
- 4:35Will Campbell. And then who's the rookie left
- 4:37guard, too? I can't remember his name now for
- 4:40the Patriots. Campbell. No, he's left tackle.
- 4:43I don't know who the guard is, but both. They
- 4:45need a ton of pressure from the left side, right?
- 4:48And that's what they're saying. They're like,
- 4:49well, why? That's on Vrabel for starting two
- 4:52rookies on the left side. I'm like. I mean, he's
- 4:55done it all year, right? It's not just that.
- 4:57It's also not to make excuses for them, but Campbell
- 5:00then came out and talked about how he probably
- 5:02was playing through something he probably shouldn't
- 5:04have been playing through. That's on the coach
- 5:06to figure out what you put out there versus not
- 5:10because the dude was getting pancaked. I didn't
- 5:12know. I haven't heard that he wasn't healthy.
- 5:15He tore what I thought was originally supposed
- 5:17to be an ACL earlier in the season, came back.
- 5:19It was a pretty bad knee injury. Came back within
- 5:22a few weeks before the playoffs. I remember that.
- 5:26I think that screwed him over, and he probably
- 5:27played sooner than he should have, but that's
- 5:29a coach's decision. He's got to make sure he's
- 5:31putting his players out there that can protect
- 5:33themselves, protect Drake May. But to your point
- 5:36with that defense, there was no chance. Yeah,
- 5:38and Seattle ended up with, what, seven sacks?
- 5:41Six sacks. It's like a Madden game. Tied for
- 5:43fifth. They took one of them away and turned
- 5:46it into a pick six instead of a fumble return.
- 5:48Oh, right on. Yeah, right on. Which was true.
- 5:51That was a pick six. Good for Nwosu. But that
- 5:55play was wild slow -mo. It was. Because at first
- 5:57you definitely thought it was a fumble recovery.
- 6:00But when they slow replayed that, I'm like, how
- 6:02the hell were you all of a sudden able to just,
- 6:05I mean, instinct, you know what I mean? Do you
- 6:07think it was a good idea for Patriots to kick
- 6:12it out of the end zone to start the game? For
- 6:14sure. Yes. Give them at 35. Yeah, for sure. I
- 6:17don't know. I feel like we're already scared.
- 6:19I go back to the Niners game, though. You give
- 6:21up that touchdown. It's already over, right?
- 6:23Based on what you saw. Okay. Okay. I don't know.
- 6:27I'm coming out with a little more fight. To your
- 6:34point, they had a great special teams as well.
- 6:37So if you feel like you have a strong special
- 6:39team, do you put it out there? And that was his
- 6:39only kick return of the year, wasn't it? That
- 6:42one against the 49ers? No, I think he had a punt
- 6:45return. But he's slippery, dude. That dude is
- 6:47dangerous. Agreed, but they contained him the
- 6:50rest of the game, too. For sure. For sure. So
- 6:52you wouldn't have. No, I thought it was like
- 6:55a weird vibe when I said that. I was like, oh,
- 6:57you're already scared. That was the first thing
- 6:59in my mind. Fair enough. And that Cooper Cup
- 7:03catch on that first drive, was it a catch? That
- 7:07sideline one? No, that was a different one. Were
- 7:11you talking about the tip on the ground? No,
- 7:12where he readjusted and it looked like he didn't
- 7:15have... That was that first down catch. I'm not
- 7:17sure if he had full possession. Because he let
- 7:19go of it and then... And it didn't even get reviewed,
- 7:23did it? No. No, because they went up and snapped
- 7:24the ball real quick. Because Cooper Cupp, as
- 7:26soon as he got up, he went to the line immediately
- 7:29and lined up. And I think Sam must have either
- 7:31figured that out and was like, yep, yep, yep.
- 7:34And the Sky Judges only chime in if there's clear
- 7:37and obvious video evidence. The bobble was pretty
- 7:42clear and obvious to me. That's the incident
- 7:45itself. But it's not because... even if he bobbles
- 7:51it, then is it still clear and obvious that he
- 7:53retains, like, still keeps both feet in bounds
- 7:55after regaining possession? Then you don't know.
- 7:59Well, and then they're going so fast, it's the
- 8:00Super Bowl. You want to be careful with what
- 8:02you do and just kind of let them play, too. But
- 8:03that's, like, that's how my first initial, as
- 8:05I picked the Patriots, I'm like, this ain't good.
- 8:08Like, that was my way. The tide turned already
- 8:11mentally for me. I kind of thought that Vrabel
- 8:14didn't challenge that because he just wanted
- 8:15to hold on to it. It was first down. It was first
- 8:18down, too. Maybe he just wants to hold on to
- 8:20that challenge for something else later on in
- 8:22the game versus regretting it. Then it's a timeout,
- 8:26too, right? You give him a timeout if you don't
- 8:27get it. There's a lot there. But it also was
- 8:2927 yards or whatever it was. It was a good chunk
- 8:32that first play, that first opening drive of
- 8:35the Super Bowl. But the defense did end up shutting
- 8:38them down and kicking them with field goals.
- 8:40A lot of field goals. They did play well, too.
- 8:43You're saying Patriots defense? Yeah, they played
- 8:44great for what they're asked to do. Patriots
- 8:46secondary was super aggressive, jumping those
- 8:48outs. Gonzalez during some of those, like that
- 8:51touchdown that could have been against JSN. That
- 8:55should have been a pick. I mean, it's literally
- 8:57hits them both hands. The one for his, that one
- 9:00-hander, because he was beat slightly, but his
- 9:03ability to catch back up and then lay out for
- 9:06that, unbelievable. I was going nuts for that.
- 9:08Yeah, it was great to see them highlight their
- 9:10defensive backfield, because a lot of times it's
- 9:13just Gonzalez that gets it, but they have some
- 9:14other playmakers, too, so it was great to see
- 9:16that. For sure, and everybody was like... This
- 9:19game's so boring, which don't get me wrong, from
- 9:21the outside, right, four field goals, and that's
- 9:23all the scoring that's been going on. Like, okay,
- 9:25you know, but for me, I was just jacked up. Like,
- 9:28both defenses were just flying around, not having
- 9:31to send pressure early, per se. Like, neither
- 9:33one really did, and the Patriots started first,
- 9:35kind of. I don't know, from a defensive side.
- 9:39It was a great defensive game. Seattle did not
- 9:41need to send many people. They just get home.
- 9:43Do you think Drake May ended up getting any happy
- 9:46feet or anything? Oh, for the whole game. Yeah,
- 9:49the entire time. He was sped up from the first
- 9:52play, and you saw it. All he was throwing was
- 9:54fastballs every direction. I mean, there was
- 9:57that third down play that they really needed,
- 9:59and the guy was wide open. gunned it in there.
- 10:03That just told me he was half a step ahead of
- 10:06where he needed to be mentally. That fumble was
- 10:08huge. Not characteristic of him. I was surprised
- 10:15that he didn't tuck it and try and run more.
- 10:18With the amount of pressure that he was feeling.
- 10:23I thought that that was going to be a significant
- 10:24difference maker between the quarterbacks. And
- 10:27he had that one longer rush earlier. To get outside
- 10:31of the pocket or at least find that open lane
- 10:33in the middle and then just go. But he just...
- 10:37He'd skate, but then he'd throw it. And that's
- 10:39where I was like, go get five. Keep collecting
- 10:43these first downs and get this momentum going.
- 10:46Maybe you'll relax a little bit and slow the
- 10:48game down. Especially with your running backs
- 10:50not able to get anything going personally. Maybe
- 10:53that was what they needed to be. Like you said,
- 10:55even five. Go get the five yards at least. Since
- 10:58that's what's open is outside the attack. Part
- 11:01of it was interesting because I felt like the
- 11:03flow of the game for the Patriots was really
- 11:04clunky. There were moments where they would give
- 11:06it to Stevenson, it would look really good, and
- 11:08then they wouldn't go back to him. I felt like
- 11:10they were limiting him when he was on fire and
- 11:13they wouldn't go to what was working. To hit
- 11:15on the Drake May piece, I think what's interesting
- 11:18is there were too many moments when I was watching
- 11:21the game where you saw he wouldn't pull the trigger,
- 11:24he wouldn't tuck the ball and run, and that cost
- 11:26him to your point five, six, seven yards where
- 11:28he should be getting a first down and he's getting
- 11:30maybe three or four yards. The happy feet is
- 11:33a really important piece because I think that's
- 11:36what he needs to take away from this offseason
- 11:37is, one, how do they protect him as a team, give
- 11:39him more time in the pocket, how does he settle
- 11:41himself, and then he's got to get better with
- 11:43his decision -making now being at the game. I
- 11:45think that'll be good. Progression's a good word
- 11:47for that. I mean, he looked like J .J. McCarthy,
- 11:49honestly. Halfway through, happy feet, throwing
- 11:52fastballs. Very similar. Did I text you guys
- 11:54during that? No, you did. Is that when I sent
- 11:57that text to the card? The 9. The 9. And I sent
- 12:01it to Kayla. So she could see. She's like, why
- 12:03does everyone do this to him? Like, why do they
- 12:04always put everyone's head on JJ's body? Oh,
- 12:09my God. That was funny. But in the card group,
- 12:11I was like, well, since Drake Mays playing. poopy.
- 12:15Does that mean that guys like J .J. McCarthy
- 12:18and Jane Daniels and who else did I say? Bone
- 12:21X or something? Does their card value a little
- 12:24bit? Graham was like, no. He's just salty because
- 12:28the Chiefs weren't in it. It's okay. He'll live.
- 12:30They got a couple Super Bowls. Difference maker
- 12:34of the game was definitely Walker. You get rewarded
- 12:35with the MVP. His elusiveness and ability and
- 12:39patience on so many Skycam views. That was really
- 12:47fun to watch, that artistry of him working. They
- 12:50talked about it a little bit. It was reminiscent
- 12:52of Le 'Veon Bell. Just the patience where you
- 12:54just slow down, come to a stop. And there were
- 12:57so many times where he was hit in the backfield
- 13:00and he still managed to break it, bounce outside.
- 13:04The Patriots front four on the defensive side
- 13:08was still getting penetration, but yeah, Walker
- 13:10was doing a really good job of avoiding it and
- 13:13still getting positive yards. That was a master
- 13:17class in what you do as a running back. If you
- 13:19want to teach patience and waiting for the play
- 13:22to develop, that was great. He did an amazing
- 13:23job. And it's funny that they compare him to
- 13:26Le 'Veon Bell because that's exactly what made
- 13:28K -9 a Heisman candidate at Michigan State as
- 13:30well because of all that. I still think he got
- 13:35snubbed because I think he ended up finishing
- 13:37fifth or sixth or something. He made up for it
- 13:39on Sunday, though. Oh, no doubt. Something a
- 13:42little bit more. I don't know about more prestigious.
- 13:45What do you think? Probably more meaningful when
- 13:47you think about your career, right? You think
- 13:49about how many players are in college football
- 13:52and how many you get to play against versus not
- 13:54and how it all works. You're playing against
- 13:57the very best when you get to the NFL and what
- 13:59he was able to do. That was so cool, I'm sure,
- 14:01for him. It was cool to see him and others soak
- 14:05it up and just talk about the moment. And for
- 14:07a running back position that doesn't get recognition
- 14:10when you think about the MVP award, for him to
- 14:13get the Super Bowl MVP and say you were the best
- 14:15player in the most important game of the year,
- 14:18that was, I'm sure, a really special moment.
- 14:20Really cool to see. Speaking of low recognition,
- 14:22Michael Dickerson, the punter for Seattle. What
- 14:27a freaking day, son. What a tank. What a freaking
- 14:30day. He had three punts inside the 20 and two
- 14:32of them were like inside the five. Are you kidding
- 14:35me? Pat McAfee praising that all day. Did he?
- 14:38Oh, yeah. I didn't watch the show. Naturally.
- 14:41And he was getting those off quick, too. Oh,
- 14:44dude. I was like. My wife was watching with me,
- 14:48too, and she'd be like, I mean, he punted the
- 14:49ball. I was like, yeah, but look at that field
- 14:52position. Oh, my God. That was awesome. And now
- 14:54that disgusting defense is going to come out,
- 14:57I'm like, oh, my God. My favorite part is just
- 14:59his stance. It's a little like I'm going to sneak
- 15:01up on someone and then go punt the ball. For
- 15:04sure, for sure. But I just had to shout him out
- 15:06because that was a master class of punting. People
- 15:09will talk about Myers the kicker, but if you're
- 15:11going to talk about special teams, you have to
- 15:12talk about the punting, too. He should have been
- 15:14MVP, IMO. I think for three quarters he was,
- 15:18honestly. But we're only all like 35 yarders.
- 15:22Don't matter. His long was 41. If that's what
- 15:27I get paid to do, I'm going to hit him all day.
- 15:29Well, why don't you tell that to Brandon McManus?
- 15:32He could use that memo for the Packers. I bet
- 15:34his bank account's okay. But even with how outstanding,
- 15:37we're talking about the punter and the kicker
- 15:39right now. All facets of the game, Seattle just
- 15:42felt like they absolutely dominated. If they
- 15:45didn't somewhere, it was offensively, right?
- 15:47A little bit, it felt that way. But other than
- 15:49that, outside of K -9. But Sam Darnold did kind
- 15:53of, like his stat line is a Jalen Hurts stat
- 15:56line. He did just enough. He did exactly what
- 15:58he needed to do. There's no rushing touchdowns
- 16:02for one yard there. Okay, good point. Yeah, good
- 16:06point. There's no tush push, okay? Jalen Hurts
- 16:10-esque. Although he did rush for five yards.
- 16:13That might be more than Jalen Hurts gets in some
- 16:15games. But there's no touch, push, touchdown.
- 16:17He does make a point. There is none. That is
- 16:19right. I don't think you're giving Jalen Hurts
- 16:23enough credit for who he is as a quarterback.
- 16:25Oh, I like Jalen Hurts. The highest salary cap
- 16:29offense in the league? So... What? The Eagles
- 16:36have the highest salary cap on offense. Yes,
- 16:39I am. So they should be one of the best, correct?
- 16:43That's all I was saying. Why do you know this?
- 16:45What does that have to do with your goals? It
- 16:48is an interesting point. No, just go ahead. That's
- 16:50what I'm saying. I was just adding that they
- 16:52have the highest bid. But you're going to come
- 16:53in and tear them down. I wasn't tearing them
- 16:56down. I was just telling them that. Make that
- 16:57crazy... Good point that you're about to make.
- 17:00I'm sorry, Jacob. Sam Darnold's responsibility
- 17:03against a really good New England Patriots defense
- 17:07was to not turn the ball over. And that was really
- 17:11Drake Mays also, his responsibility. And Drake
- 17:14Mays failed at doing that versus Darnold was
- 17:16able to be successful with it. The game itself
- 17:21really reminded me and made me feel like it was.
- 17:27Like 2000s Ravens against the Giants where you
- 17:31had that Ravens, the Ravens defense and special
- 17:34teams outscored the Giants by themselves. Agreed.
- 17:39And pretty close here. Fact. With that. And all
- 17:47you needed at that point with the Ravens was
- 17:49Trent Dilfer. You just have to get us 10 points.
- 17:54That's what Ray Lewis told Trent Dilfer. He's
- 17:55like, hey, we need 10 points. That's all. And
- 17:58Sam Darnold got them essentially nine at half.
- 18:02And then in the third quarter, they were up 12.
- 18:05Depending on who you talk to, a lot of Patriots
- 18:08fans probably felt like at that point in time,
- 18:10down by 12, going into the fourth, they're like,
- 18:12no, this is over with. They probably felt defeated
- 18:16at that point. How much of this do you think?
- 18:21I agree with what you just said, but how much
- 18:23of this do you think falls on just the dominance
- 18:25of one O -line versus another? When I look at
- 18:28the stat sheet, I look at Kenneth Walker rushing
- 18:3027 times and then I look at combined. The other
- 18:35two starting running backs for the Patriots ran,
- 18:39what, like 12 times or 13 times? Like, just getting
- 18:42away from the run because it's not working, and
- 18:44one run that was working and could beat you down,
- 18:46they might only get an average of five yards,
- 18:48but that's all you need to get when you're rushing
- 18:50it that many times. I feel like it was, at the
- 18:52same time, if you have that dominant of a run
- 18:55game, Sam Darnold, he's like, shoot, this is
- 18:57going to be the easiest day in the office. I
- 18:59just turn around and hand it to my guy, right?
- 19:01Right, just stand there in the pocket. So to
- 19:02your point, just doing just enough. Yeah. But,
- 19:05like, that, your point now brings me back to
- 19:07Rob's point earlier of, like, well, if Drake
- 19:09May would have just got five yards here and there,
- 19:11you know, outside the tackle since the running
- 19:13game wasn't working. When he does get out, then
- 19:16that's where he needs to, like, think about the
- 19:18game. Like, we need to establish some sort of
- 19:20run game, so maybe I should take out. Which is
- 19:22crazy because he was the highest rusher for the
- 19:23Patriots. He had 37 yards off of five rushes.
- 19:26That was their highest rusher when you look at
- 19:27the stats. And so I was disappointed. For the
- 19:36Patriots coming out of halftime. I was going
- 19:37to say, I was disappointed coming here. Word.
- 19:41It didn't feel like the Patriots offense made
- 19:44any real significant changes to their scheme.
- 19:48They're just like, oh, this isn't working. We're
- 19:49just going to start throwing the ball. To your
- 19:51point, the discrepancy in rush attempts between
- 19:54the Patriots, Ramondre Stevenson and Travion
- 19:59Henderson versus... versus K -9, it's significantly
- 20:02different. So they're getting away, one, from
- 20:05turning themselves into a one -dimensional thing.
- 20:08Why didn't Josh McDaniels try to do other things
- 20:11to take the pressure off of... uh drake may like
- 20:17maybe throw some wide receiver screens or running
- 20:19back screens like if they're coming after you
- 20:22they're getting through there's opportunities
- 20:24just like right over the like top i know that
- 20:27drake was trying to make a couple of big like
- 20:29throw some deep and those throws looked ugly
- 20:33so i don't know I feel like there was something
- 20:35wrong with his arm at some point. And I know
- 20:37that last week we're like, oh, he's not really
- 20:39injured. But maybe. That right throwing shoulder
- 20:42is like maybe it was actually a bigger deal than
- 20:44everybody. Yeah, but I feel like on the deep
- 20:47shots, they're always like the third read. You
- 20:50know, like when you see that slot coming in,
- 20:53you'd be like, all right, this is that chance
- 20:55or that quick slant. I thought Josh Daniels'
- 20:58game plan was kind of, you know, like he didn't
- 21:01really adapt. to how the game was flowing with
- 21:03your point, too. And Patriots not having a deep
- 21:08threat, you can definitely see that. That burner.
- 21:10They need it. They're definitely missing that
- 21:12burner. I know Hollins had that one catch, but
- 21:14I don't think he's the burner. He's not, yeah.
- 21:16Good player, though. Very good. And the tight
- 21:19ends, I thought, kind of disappeared for the
- 21:21Patriots. They did. Or Drake was just awful.
- 21:24I felt like he wasn't targeting them early at
- 21:26all. Which that was their thing in previous games.
- 21:30That's exactly what they needed to do. And he
- 21:33catches until the second half. they didn't try
- 21:36to exploit the middle of the field, just, like,
- 21:38send the tight ends down the seam, force your
- 21:41linebackers back. Yeah, well, you talked about,
- 21:44you know. Yeah, the two to three sets, right,
- 21:45that they were consistently using. I think there
- 21:48is something to probably something with his shoulder,
- 21:50but I think it probably has more to do with his
- 21:52plan, like you were saying, because he threw
- 21:54the ball 43 times. I'm like, how bad is your
- 21:57shoulder if you throw it before the game? But
- 21:59then that throw to Matt Collins at the end was
- 22:01on the freaking money in the end zone. Yeah,
- 22:03they didn't do him any favors. 13 deep shots,
- 22:06though? He just threw them up like moon balls.
- 22:08I think it's nerves, man. I think he was just
- 22:10taking a shot. And thinking I'm about to get
- 22:12cracked as he's throwing the ball. Odell's out
- 22:15there somewhere. Let's go. And that pick across
- 22:17the middle, he was just late on that throw. It
- 22:20was right where it should have been. He was just
- 22:22a half second late on the throw. But he also
- 22:26threw some. There were some that were dropped
- 22:28that should not have been dropped. That was a
- 22:30weird throw for me. That pick, for sure. I would
- 22:34have let him out front when I was watching. I
- 22:36feel like it was just so late. He was just late
- 22:38on it. Like more than a second for me. I don't
- 22:41know. Yeah, it wasn't them. You think about the
- 22:43tight ends. You think about the involvement with
- 22:45Diggs and some of the other wide receivers. It
- 22:46just wasn't there. But Seattle's defense, I mean,
- 22:49they've been making teams do that all year long.
- 22:52That secondary, you know, can really. Except
- 22:54for the Vikings. Yeah. What? The Vikings showed
- 22:58the blueprint. Well, I mean, in reality, though,
- 23:03the Patriots played pretty well. The offense,
- 23:05other than Walker, he had that 130 -yard run.
- 23:09But other than that, you wouldn't come out of
- 23:10the game and Seattle's offense really picked
- 23:13them apart. They kind of meandered their way
- 23:17down the field enough times, and then their defense
- 23:20took over. Right on. It was a fun Super Bowl.
- 23:25All right, let's get back to your... Darnold
- 23:27and Jalen Hurts conversation. I'm not trying
- 23:30to hate on Jalen Hurts. I'm just saying. If I'm
- 23:33comparing him to a player, I think he's doing
- 23:36that to a T. Jalen Hurts has a Super Bowl. There
- 23:41it is for you. See him getting all fired up.
- 23:43But he has a Super Bowl. I don't know. I'm just
- 23:46comparing him to Jalen Hurts in a good way. Sam
- 23:50Darnold. This game, this stat line. But I do
- 23:54feel like Jalen Hurts is more of like, and Sam
- 23:57Darnold in this game, were more of those game
- 23:59managers. And I know that tag gets thrown around.
- 24:03It's tough because it's a negative connotation,
- 24:05right? Which I never see it that way. I think
- 24:07it's a great thing. I think a better term is
- 24:09point guard, right? You get the ball to where
- 24:11it needs to go with your playmaker. But I look
- 24:14at Jalen Hurts and I used to think a certain
- 24:16way about him until it was the Super Bowl. win
- 24:19with the chiefs where they just decimated them
- 24:22and he throws a moon ball to um um smith yeah
- 24:28to smith to like just essentially end the game
- 24:31and you think a game manager is not gonna do
- 24:35that right so like i think jalen hurts does not
- 24:38get enough credit for how he can throw the ball
- 24:41I think so many times you focus in on his run
- 24:43game these dink and dunks and what the what the
- 24:46running backs can do what the wide receivers
- 24:47can do behind the line of scrimmage and so I
- 24:50think what he does it's it's different but I'd
- 24:52also argue I feel like Sam Darnold has finally
- 24:54shown this year and last year but in these big
- 24:57games this year that He's different, too, and
- 25:00people need to put respect on his name. So they're
- 25:02very similar in different ways. They obviously
- 25:05don't play the same, but I think there's a lot
- 25:08of parallel. They're more mobile. I don't know.
- 25:10Sam evaded like three sacks. Sam is mobile. That
- 25:12really helped him out. Sam is mobile, too. I
- 25:15would say Jalen Hurts has more finesse, and Sam
- 25:18Darnold has more grit to what he does, to power
- 25:21through and get it done. But the ways that Jalen...
- 25:24It's interesting. Again, just like the NFC Championship
- 25:29game, he did stand in there and take some hits
- 25:31this game too. He's a big boy. I thought different
- 25:34about Darnold after the Rams regular season game
- 25:38where he had to overcome some really tough moments
- 25:41and seeing him do that and then they eked out
- 25:43the win by one or two points. I think that showed
- 25:45you he has the DNA now where he can go win it.
- 25:47This team can go win it. For sure. With Seattle
- 25:52winning, I feel like the best team won the Super
- 25:54Bowl. Overall, looking throughout the season,
- 25:58how everyone played and how it played out, Seattle
- 26:01probably was the best. Patriots had a heck of
- 26:04a run, but it's always that proverbial next year.
- 26:08You've seen it once. I saw a whole list of quarterbacks
- 26:11that made it to the Super Bowl with Joe Burrow
- 26:13on it. You get there once, oh, make it back,
- 26:16and then never do. Super Bowl losers have a terrible
- 26:20time making it back. Well, Joe Burrow will be
- 26:26back in it next year with the Vikings. With the
- 26:31Vikings? With the Vikings at SoFi. No, I'm just
- 26:35kidding. I don't know. Anyway. Well, it's not
- 26:38going down that rabbit hole yet. That's not what
- 26:40Ian Rapoport was suggesting yesterday. And you're
- 26:42going to F up the whole conspiracy around the
- 26:44NFL logo and what teams go. That doesn't match.
- 26:46Yeah, it's supposed to be. I know, right? Yeah,
- 26:48it's supposed to be what? The Jaguars versus.
- 26:50No, it's versus Dolphins. Jaguars or Bears versus
- 26:52Dolphins or. Or. I mean, there's Broncos, Bears,
- 26:58Bengals that could be in it from the orange,
- 27:01right? Yeah. And then you could have Seattle.
- 27:05Technically the Bills. I heard Jaguars. Panthers.
- 27:09Who knows? Oh, the colors. Yeah, the colors.
- 27:11I saw that. I'm like, yeah, sure, okay. I get
- 27:17it, though. It's like a sunset over the water
- 27:19is what I'm getting at. Hey, quick thought. Do
- 27:21Seattle make the NFC Championship game next year?
- 27:27Great question. That division's hard. My initial
- 27:31thought, yes. Okay. I'm going to go no just because
- 27:36of their free agents. They're losing their whole
- 27:39secondaries pretty much. I think divisional for
- 27:41sure, but I don't think championship. And whether
- 27:44Walker stays too. I think Walker will end up
- 27:47staying, but I think Walker is probably the biggest.
- 27:51component to that. They're going to have to figure
- 27:52out how much they want to pay to both Walker
- 27:54and Charbonnet when Charbonnet is up too. Charbonnet
- 27:57is going to walk, isn't he? When you think about
- 27:59the two of them, you're going to keep Walker
- 28:00and you're going to let Charbonnet. Which would
- 28:02you prefer? Walker. You think about recency bias?
- 28:07Do you have to pay an extra 10 % just because
- 28:10he's MVP? Yeah. What was the injury that Charbonnet
- 28:16had? ACL. So he's going to miss the chunk of
- 28:21the first half. So Charbonnet's best bet would
- 28:23be to... He's kind of like how Murphy is in a
- 28:26scenario with the Vikings left. We have to sign
- 28:28him. Who, Walker? Yeah. I mean, almost. We don't
- 28:32got anything else. We have to overpay for him
- 28:34and keep him. Yeah, these teams will look a little
- 28:36different. You've got, obviously, their OC is
- 28:38going on to the Raiders, which I'm sure we'll
- 28:40talk about a little later. But, you know, you
- 28:43think about these teams are going to look...
- 28:44Very different going into this next year. Cool.
- 28:48Who'd you pick? Are they making them, Seattle?
- 28:50They're not making them. He said no. And you
- 28:52were? I think I got to go no, too. All right.
- 28:54Kevin? No. No? I'm the only one saying yes. All
- 28:58right. All right. Because even though I picked
- 29:02against the Seahawks in the Super Bowl, I was
- 29:06on and with the 12s the entire season. I was
- 29:1012s or back. He was pretty much a 12. Minus the
- 29:12Super Bowl. Who, me? Yeah, you. No. Yes. No.
- 29:17Yeah, you're like, see, chickens. Caw, caw. Yeah.
- 29:20Yeah. All right. All right, kids, stop fighting.
- 29:22All right, fine. Fine. Well, with that, then,
- 29:25should we do some tent talk? We're getting good.
- 29:31Been training. 911, what's your emergency? And
- 29:59with that, oh, there it is. Did you forget to
- 30:01do it as we did that? Well, usually episodes.
- 30:04We said we were doing a live transition. Yeah,
- 30:06we were. It was not live. Smooth. Well, here
- 30:10we are. We're here. What are we here for? We're
- 30:13doing a little tent talk, if you will. I know
- 30:18it sounds stupid on Spotify because that's where
- 30:20I listen to it. Anyway, it sounds so dumb. Should
- 30:23we just go like this? It's like we're breaking
- 30:24the huddle. For sure. All right. Anyway. All
- 30:30right. First bit of news here. Clint Kubiak officially
- 30:33now hired as the Raiders head coach after winning
- 30:35the Super Bowl. Get hired by Tom Brady. Who's
- 30:39the first coach to get fired next year? Oh. But
- 30:42keep going. Who do the Cardinals hire? That's
- 30:46the first one. There you go. Nah. Because Kyler
- 30:50Murray's going to get traded out of there. And
- 30:52they're going to succeed. To the Vikings. Probably,
- 30:56actually. KLC? Giants trying. No. No. Come on.
- 31:01KL? No. Come on. Not yet. Maybe next year. Giants
- 31:05trying to get. That's what I said. Well, not
- 31:08this year. The year after. Yeah, yeah. Focus.
- 31:11Focus. Let me try again. Third time. I'm in kindergarten.
- 31:14Giants trying to get ex -Tennessee head coach
- 31:17Brian Callahan to come and be the quarterback
- 31:20coach after hiring Nagy. Didn't they hire Nagy
- 31:23for Oshicho? Yes. Giants are just kind of playing
- 31:28collection of former head coaches, and that's...
- 31:31Starting to get me a little concerned. In a good
- 31:33way or a bad way? Like, good way for the Giants.
- 31:36You know, bad way for them. You're saying they're
- 31:37coming? I mean, I think there could be some steam
- 31:41brewing a little bit for the Giants. I mean,
- 31:44they played competitive this year, to be honest.
- 31:48Until they were kind of decimated by key injuries,
- 31:50right? That's what kind of did it for them. They
- 31:52looked good. On the offensive side, that's where
- 31:54they saw those injuries. Their defense was good.
- 31:56If neighbors can come back and get more time
- 31:59with Jackson Dart. Cam will be fine. Cam will
- 32:02be fine. I think neighbors will be okay. Have
- 32:05a two -headed monster outside. Oh, yeah. Okay,
- 32:08there we go. There we go. Let's see. And then
- 32:12the only other things here, there's definitely
- 32:16some trade buzz going on. I saw some Max Crosby
- 32:19stuff, some Kyler Murray stuff. I think the Lamar
- 32:24Jackson things have cooled down a bit, and now
- 32:26they're talking about an extension? Have you
- 32:28heard anything about Lamar Jackson? I don't think
- 32:30it's going to be, well, it's probably going to
- 32:33be an extension, but it's really the focus is
- 32:35to restructure the contract to free up more cap
- 32:37space. They're sitting pretty well, but obviously
- 32:40if you can make more money available now. in
- 32:44order to hire coveted free agents, you're going
- 32:47to want to do that. It makes sense. Who restructured?
- 32:51Sorry, I missed the beginning part. Lamar Jackson.
- 32:54It's all fake money anyways. It's monopoly money.
- 33:01But the challenge is Lamar Jackson doesn't have
- 33:03an agent, so he does all of his negotiations.
- 33:05So him finding time to sit down with Eric DaCosta,
- 33:09talk out dollars and cents over restructuring
- 33:12and renegotiating his contracts is going to take
- 33:14time. It was one of those pain points when he
- 33:17was a free agent and he got that franchise tag
- 33:19where it was just like, well. Him being his own
- 33:22agent. Yeah. It took forever to get that deal
- 33:25done. And then he just come out DaCosta. That's
- 33:29the owner, right? No, DaCosta's the GM. GM, he's
- 33:31the owner. Steve Bishotti. Okay, didn't... Steve,
- 33:34good old Steve. Bishotti. Didn't he just come
- 33:37out too and say, like, if Lamar wants to have
- 33:40some sort of say in the draft and all this, that
- 33:42he's got to be present and come to Baltimore
- 33:45or something? I've seen something coming out
- 33:46of... The only thing that I recall Bishotti saying
- 33:50was that Lamar Jackson... could have a voice
- 33:54in the hiring of the head coach, but he's not
- 33:58going to have, like, the say in it. Sure. Because,
- 34:00like, if you want to voice your opinion, cool.
- 34:02He's got to, like, be here, though. Kind of like
- 34:05Josh Allen. He's off doing off -season stuff,
- 34:07you know, which I feel. But I like the owner
- 34:08doing that. You know, as a player and a leader
- 34:10on a team like that, you know, it's not that
- 34:12he's making a decision, but it's just, like,
- 34:14that open -door policy of, you know, you're free
- 34:17to give me your opinion because I respect your
- 34:20opinion as a leader on my football team. Have
- 34:22buy -in, right? You want them to feel like there's
- 34:24an investment there, and they feel like, I can't
- 34:27let this guy down. This is part of my choice.
- 34:29Feeling in the loop, all that. It's good vibes
- 34:32there. What was this Schefter thing you were
- 34:37saying? Oh, Ian Rapoport? Oh, Rapoport. Same
- 34:40thing. Well, he posted something yesterday about
- 34:44the Vikings' intentions of starting. Or their
- 34:48intention going into the offseason is to keep
- 34:50JJ as their number one and then hiring a seasoned...
- 34:53veteran quarterback. That's the question mark.
- 34:57If that is in fact the reporting, you can kiss
- 35:01Joe Burrow goodbye. I think Mac Jones is the
- 35:05likely one. I think there's a caveat here. There's
- 35:07two things. One, the 49ers have come out and
- 35:11said they have no intention of letting Mac Jones
- 35:15out of their building. I think Kirk Cousins is
- 35:17an interesting component. The other caveat is
- 35:21everything that the Vikings are saying around
- 35:25JJ has the caveat of if a Joe Burrow -level quarterback
- 35:28becomes available, they will do everything in
- 35:30their power to go get him. Which is what they'll
- 35:34probably have to do to save a little face right
- 35:36now with firing a GM and then KOC saying the
- 35:39things he said with Darnold and Jones and who's
- 35:43trying to get reused. Indianapolis is trying
- 35:45to resign, by the way. But Joe DiBerlo's going
- 35:47to have to demand a trade out of Cincinnati.
- 35:50Cincinnati's not going to want... And they're
- 35:52going to have to be willing to give him one,
- 35:53too, even if he says he wants one. Who knows,
- 35:56right? But him threatening retirement last year
- 36:01a little bit, you remember that? But they could
- 36:02call his bluff and say, cool. go retire. Right.
- 36:05And just Sean, see if he's, if he's serious about
- 36:08it. So the, the other thing is, so we're going
- 36:11to throw a wrench into this. There's starting
- 36:13to be conversations by ownership with the NFL
- 36:17on being able to trade more than three years
- 36:21of picks, like being able to trade back to five
- 36:25years up to five is what I saw today too. Yeah.
- 36:27That's dude. So my first, my first thought was
- 36:31the. This probably came up because there are
- 36:34teams interested in wanting to trade five years
- 36:38of first and or second round picks in order to
- 36:41get the first round this year or to pull a Joe
- 36:45Burrow. No, I don't agree with that because if
- 36:50I had to vote, I'd vote no. I think if you miss
- 36:54on that, now your franchise is forced. Look at
- 36:58Cleveland. They don't care. What's a first -round
- 37:02pick? Yeah, you're already shooting yourself
- 37:03in the foot trading three consecutive years of
- 37:07first -round picks and missing on that. Right,
- 37:09so imagine if you trade five. Yeah, but if it's
- 37:12five for Burrow. Yeah, but if Burrow tears his
- 37:16ACL and retires tomorrow. But it also might depend
- 37:19on the franchise and what has been their history
- 37:21around picking first -round picks. Are they hitting
- 37:23on them? Are they not? And then are they like,
- 37:25is this a better bet? Is it the same GM or a
- 37:27different GM? Yeah, if it's like Baltimore. So
- 37:29many variables. If it's Baltimore, that's like
- 37:31one of those really good teams. That's why I
- 37:33vote no. That drafts really well, is always drafting
- 37:35later on. They're like, yeah, I'm okay with giving
- 37:37up my 14th or 20th overall pick for the next
- 37:41X number of years. Especially if you want to
- 37:44be competitive, that's just going to become worse
- 37:45and worse as you go. I'm not for it. You guys
- 37:49are voting yes? I mean, doesn't less nitrates
- 37:51first round picks like candy? I'm voting it doesn't
- 37:54matter if you make... Not an option, son. There's
- 37:58no write -in. If you make the team a winning
- 38:02DNA by bringing in someone like a Joe Burrow,
- 38:04it doesn't matter. If you have the right people
- 38:06in the building, you're going to win. And he
- 38:08is one of those guys that if you get him in the
- 38:09building, you're going to have a different culture.
- 38:11That I believe. So it's worth it. It doesn't
- 38:14matter. He can stay healthy because without him.
- 38:18Even with his Joe Burrow culture in Cincinnati,
- 38:21they still didn't play very well. With the Trey
- 38:23Henderson floating over thing, too. Think about
- 38:25this. There's a lot of times with Joe Burrow
- 38:27they talk about the line, which is real. What
- 38:30they don't talk about is they don't talk about
- 38:31how historically bad that defense was. He goes
- 38:34into a situation where the defense is different,
- 38:36keeps him off the field a little bit more, maybe
- 38:38dominates, makes it a little easier for him.
- 38:41So many times in football we talk about the offense
- 38:43putting the defense in a tough situation where
- 38:45they're on the field too much. What about the
- 38:47flip? where you have such a bad defense that
- 38:49you need to be out there and you're expected
- 38:51to do so much more. You're expected to be out
- 38:53there longer for various reasons. I think if
- 38:55he goes to a situation where maybe the line's
- 38:58similar, maybe slightly better, slightly worse,
- 39:00but the defense is better, that might be attractive
- 39:03enough for him and attractive enough for that
- 39:05franchise to be like, let's make this thing work.
- 39:07For sure it would be attractive to him. I just
- 39:09think the Bengals have failed miserably trying
- 39:11to retain defensive talent. They went to the,
- 39:14what, was it the AFC Championship? Like, five
- 39:16years ago or whatever? Four years ago? Yeah,
- 39:19when they lost to the Rams in the Super Bowl.
- 39:21Oh, maybe it was the Super Bowl. They played,
- 39:23was that the Bills or the Chiefs they beat that
- 39:25year? They beat the Chiefs. Yeah. But, like,
- 39:28that was a good defense that year. And then they
- 39:30didn't retain almost anybody. Yeah. Like, that's,
- 39:33I don't know. But I was going to say, isn't that
- 39:35a two -headed monster? Yeah, you could hope the
- 39:38defense is good. And if they are probably good,
- 39:40that means a portion of the salary cap is on
- 39:43that side. And it's not like it's in Cincinnati
- 39:45where you have all offense. So you go to a, you
- 39:51know. That's why they need to figure out a team.
- 39:53You got to be a little careful there. Because
- 39:56then you might end up on a team with, you know.
- 39:59No receivers. Yeah, and I think Joe Burrow restructures
- 40:03for a team he believes in. I feel like that's
- 40:05not going to happen for a team he doesn't right
- 40:07now. So I think that'll be part of it, too. I
- 40:11don't think Joe's going anywhere because he puts
- 40:13too many butts in the seat in Cincinnati. Could
- 40:16you imagine if they traded Joe Burrow for J .J.
- 40:19McCarthy and a multitude of picks and Dallas
- 40:21Turner or whatever? That trade is going to make
- 40:25Cincinnati fans very upset. So I don't think
- 40:28that's really what they want to do. Then they've
- 40:31got to suck another year and wait and hope for
- 40:32another quarterback. Be excited about their $230
- 40:35million effing receivers. And hopefully Joey
- 40:40B can play the whole season. This is like the
- 40:42Vikings right now. Can one of them throw the
- 40:44ball? Let's go. Well, if you're a good enough
- 40:47receiver, any quarterback should be able to get
- 40:48you the ball. Look at Prime Dehop. Look at Larry
- 40:52Fitzgerald. You're talking to Hall of Famers,
- 40:55not every NFL receiver is an HOFer. Right, but
- 40:57you can make a case that Jamar Chase is on a
- 41:04Hall of Fame trajectory. Yeah, for sure. Not
- 41:08if there continues to be this many receivers.
- 41:13That's what I'm concerned about with all these
- 41:14young receivers. Like, they're all so good. J
- 41:16.J., Jamar Chase. J .S .M. now. Devontae Smith's
- 41:20pretty good. J .S .M. Puka. Puka. Like, if they're
- 41:24all so good, well, if nobody ever gets past us,
- 41:27like, they can't all go to the hall. You know
- 41:30what I mean? I wouldn't think so. Bill can't.
- 41:33Nobody can. We'll talk about it. Trust me. We're
- 41:35getting there. We're going very slow, but we're
- 41:38getting there. Don't worry, Kev. This won't be
- 41:39a long one. Psych. So, Joe, to make this easy,
- 41:45is there any free agents out there right now
- 41:48that, like, say you need the Packers to sign,
- 41:50like, tomorrow? Corners. Yeah, corners for sure.
- 41:55I think if they had a better corner group. That
- 42:00playoff game looks a little different. I can't
- 42:01help but think about Jair, but obviously he's
- 42:03not even playing right now with just. stuff he's
- 42:06got going on, so I think they have to figure
- 42:07that out. Always O -line help. I feel like with
- 42:11the Packers and even the Vikings, just needing
- 42:13that depth is really important. I don't know
- 42:15what's in the water up here besides the coldness,
- 42:18but they always get hurt. You're always out that
- 42:21main guy or those group of guys. We just need
- 42:23our guys to be healthy. We need Tucker Craft
- 42:24back. We need Micah Parsons back. We need them
- 42:27to come back to their previous self. Healthy
- 42:29Packers team is quite scary. I think that'll
- 42:32be good. I think what becomes interesting is
- 42:34what do they do? With Romeo Dobbs, there's been
- 42:36talks about him potentially re -signing, which
- 42:38is a surprise to me. I think if you were to ask
- 42:40me a month ago, that doesn't make sense and probably
- 42:42shouldn't happen, depending on what the number
- 42:44is. Is it Christian Watson gone? Watson got a
- 42:48one -year extension, so I think he's good through
- 42:50this year, but you'll probably see something
- 42:51throughout the season around that. maybe you
- 42:56don't chase after the wide receiver depth and
- 42:58you really put some faith into Matthew Golden.
- 43:00They did not use him well this year. I think
- 43:02you saw glimpses towards the end of the year
- 43:04in that playoff game. He can be a playmaker.
- 43:07His separation rate is incredible. His catch
- 43:09rate is incredible. He just needs to get the
- 43:11targets out. So you would prefer them to not
- 43:13re -sign Robbie O'Dobbs in order to get Golden
- 43:15some time. Yeah, absolutely. But from a free
- 43:19agent standpoint, I think you figure out backup
- 43:21quarterback, you figure out line, maybe one or
- 43:23two defensive pieces. Willis, no matter what.
- 43:25I think he's going to be a dolphin, personally.
- 43:28Yeah, I think it makes a ton of sense. Are they
- 43:31keeping Walker? Quay? Yeah. Quay, actually, I
- 43:37don't know. I think he's going to be in for a
- 43:38big payday. And we have a couple other depth
- 43:41guys that might not be quite as good as him,
- 43:44but that have made an impact. So I think you
- 43:45need to give them the chance, very similar to
- 43:47a Golden, to step up. When they've been on the
- 43:49field, they've been good. He's been great. I
- 43:52can't help but think a couple years ago when
- 43:54he had some of his temperament issues he did
- 43:56when he was pulling off a staff member of the
- 44:00Lions during a play -in game, essentially. Some
- 44:03of that stuff, I think, still gets in the way.
- 44:05I'd love to have him back. I think he's a big
- 44:08-time player. Yeah, I think he's going somewhere
- 44:11else. Yeah, probably Ravens. You're right. While
- 44:13we're talking about the Ravens, what about you?
- 44:17What's out there that you... Like as a Ravens
- 44:20fan or like you'd like them to see? There's one
- 44:24guy that's glaring. For me, there's one for sure.
- 44:27What I don't like, but I do like, we have to
- 44:30re -sign Tyler Linderbaum. That's who I want
- 44:32on the Vikings real bad. Every team's going to
- 44:36want him. He might want to test the market. I
- 44:41don't think he played his best last year, but
- 44:44he is... Probably the top alignment. He's a conversation
- 44:48piece as one of the best centers in the game.
- 44:50Yep. And the center is such a crucial spot. Don't
- 44:56we know it. Being able to. Mike. Calling out
- 45:00mics, changing block schemes, things like that.
- 45:02And then he has that experience with Lamar Jackson.
- 45:05Like, what's so funny? I'm sorry. He pointed
- 45:09and I was like. He just caught up five minutes
- 45:11later. It's okay. Coach delay. Normal episode
- 45:14here. Coach delay. So it's Tyler Linderbaum has
- 45:18to be the first person signed. They have to figure
- 45:22that out. Because they didn't do the fifth year
- 45:27option on him. Because if they did the fifth
- 45:29year option, it essentially would have paid him
- 45:32much like a tackle. Because of how... Those salary
- 45:37cap structures work. They do the average of all
- 45:39of the offensive linemen, the highest paid offensive
- 45:41linemen, which traditionally are tackles. So
- 45:45they don't want to pay him like a tackle. They
- 45:47want to pay him like a top tier center. So they
- 45:50get paid a little less, but still super important.
- 45:53And they really just need to restructure. the
- 45:56right side of that offensive line so another
- 45:59a new guard another tackle i don't we're not
- 46:03going to see filet back what skew ma's gone i
- 46:06think so if he stays he's probably a backup i
- 46:11don't think he's going to continue to start he
- 46:13struggled this year um at right guard so okay
- 46:18i appreciate his efforts though he's a heck of
- 46:21a guy heck of a player Not good enough, though.
- 46:24Not good enough. But, yeah. Well, we'll take
- 46:26them. All right. Well, we'll take them. All right,
- 46:28Tyler, who do we need? Who do the Minnesota football
- 46:30Vikings need? We would take Linderbaum, for sure.
- 46:34Can't have him. So, Kelly's probably gone. Right.
- 46:36That's why we need Linderbaum. That's who you
- 46:37need, for sure. Linderbaum's gone. TJ's probably
- 46:41gone. That's fine. Yeah, Hawkinson? Hawkinson's
- 46:44gone. We're fine. Whoever the third string was
- 46:46was fine. Jones is probably going to be gone,
- 46:47too, right? From a running back standpoint. Or
- 46:51Kenneth Walker. For some reason, Seattle does
- 46:53not. There's no way. You can't say there's no
- 46:56way. I don't see Kenneth Walker coming to Minnesota.
- 46:58So we need center. Yeah. Probably linebacker
- 47:03for sure. We could use another linebacker. Kway
- 47:05Walker, yeah. You're just poaching our players.
- 47:09What the heck? Does he really fit the Flores
- 47:11-style defense? I think he could. Yeah, for sure.
- 47:14I think he'd be used way better than the way
- 47:17Flores uses Josh Metellus. I feel like Kyle Halfley
- 47:21and Flores played. I think there's some similarities.
- 47:24All right. I'm on the Walker train. Clay would
- 47:28be a really great linebacker in that double A.
- 47:31We got him. Don't worry. We already got him.
- 47:32All right. Moving on. Corner. We definitely need
- 47:35a corner. We're probably going secondary. Our
- 47:39first pick. Yeah. All right. Anyone sticking
- 47:42out on the draft? You're kind of eyeing up on
- 47:44the secondary? We've got to make a ton of cuts,
- 47:48so that's the problem with the Vikes. They're
- 47:49over salary cap. I don't want to sign all these
- 47:51dudes. You're going to have to be draft heavy
- 47:53instead of free agents heavy, is what you think?
- 47:55There's realistically one free agent. Because
- 47:59I think about right for the Bears, I don't know
- 48:01if, I mean, he'll probably demand a pretty good
- 48:03market. He's top 10, top 15, I think, free agent.
- 48:08All right, let me run. I've got a top 10 list
- 48:10of free agents right here. Tell me if they're
- 48:11a standard going. Staying at where they're at?
- 48:13Yep. Pickens at the Cowboys. Staying. Franchise
- 48:17tag. Franchise tag. On a tag? Yeah, I think so.
- 48:20Or you think he signs a multi? I think, well,
- 48:22they'll tag him out of the gates. He'll sign
- 48:25a multi, right? They'll find a way to sign a
- 48:27multi -year deal. All right. Trey Henderson.
- 48:29No, he's gone. Yeah. Dean. Corn. Linebacker.
- 48:35Dean. Oh, Jamal Dean. Cornerback from the Tampa
- 48:37Bay. There's a lot of cornerbacks that are available
- 48:40in free agents. I think he's gone. He's gone.
- 48:42Daniel Jones stays. Yes, he stays. I mean, the
- 48:46fact that the Colts are the ones that want to
- 48:48sign him. That's a big deal. He probably did,
- 48:52and then they came to him. All right, so he's
- 48:54staying. Wolin, the stud corner out of Seattle.
- 48:57He stays. And he's staying. I agree. If they
- 49:00have the money. All right. Alex Pierce, receiver
- 49:02for the Colts. I think he goes. Yeah. I think
- 49:05if Daniel Jones resigns, maybe he would come
- 49:08back. And then Linderbaum, are they trying to
- 49:10hold on to him, you think? I think they're going
- 49:12to do almost anything that they can to keep Linderbaum.
- 49:15I wouldn't be surprised if Linderbaum becomes
- 49:17the highest paid center ever. And then we have
- 49:20Jill Watson, cornerback for the Chiefs. If you
- 49:23guys know who he is. I don't even know who he
- 49:25is. He's gone. He's gone. Then we have James
- 49:27Pierce, cornerback from the Steelers. And then
- 49:31Jalen Phillips, edge. I think Phillip stays.
- 49:35He's a good player. They do a good job. Who is
- 49:38the corner of the Steelers? James Pierce. He
- 49:42was kind of lost with all those big names there
- 49:45this year. I feel like he goes with how much
- 49:47changed the Steelers. have had this postseason
- 49:50already. There's a lot going on right now. Yeah,
- 49:52with McCarthy bringing in a new staff, I think
- 49:54there's going to be a lot of change. All right,
- 49:55let me grab some bigger names here. Mike Evans,
- 49:57is he going to stay one more year, you think?
- 49:59Yeah. I think so. Brees Hall, is he gone? Gone.
- 50:02Oh, he's gone, yeah. I'd be not interested in
- 50:05signing with the Jets right now. Don't blame
- 50:08you. And if Eric Stokes becomes available, the
- 50:11Packers picking him up again. I mean, they should
- 50:13probably think about it at this rate. He didn't
- 50:15play terrible. For Vegas. He was at Vegas this
- 50:18year. That's all I really got. What about Aaron?
- 50:23Where does he end up? Are the Vikings going to
- 50:24be calling, or are they going to be good with
- 50:26going a different direction? Aaron Jones is trying
- 50:27to get him here, but Aaron Jones, you've got
- 50:28to worry about your own bag right now. I've been
- 50:31saying this. Since it came out, we were actually
- 50:34at a card show when it came out about McCarthy.
- 50:37There's just something in me that says Rodgers
- 50:39and McCarthy are going to get together. And the
- 50:42Steelers can say whatever they want. The reason
- 50:45they hired Mike McCarthy was because in the back
- 50:48of their minds, they wanted Aaron Rodgers ideally
- 50:51go and draft. a better quarterback than what
- 50:54they've drafted the last several years. And ideally
- 50:55hope develop for a year or two. I think, I think
- 50:58Rogers had a lot of fun. He wasn't as bad as
- 51:00he was with the jets, right? Like it, you know,
- 51:02it obviously wasn't his Packer days, but it could
- 51:05have been a lot worse. So I think he stays there.
- 51:07If he doesn't stay, I think Minnesota comes calling.
- 51:10And that's that veteran. That's that veteran
- 51:12spot. Would for real actually sign him. There
- 51:16was some conversation. I don't know how real
- 51:17it was, but there was some conversation. Shefty
- 51:19was talking about around KLC. And Quezzy and
- 51:23bringing in Rodgers. It'd be cheaper than Joe
- 51:26Burrow. It'd be cheaper than Kyler Murray. It'd
- 51:28be cheaper than going to get one of these stud
- 51:30guys. You're not expecting him to come and blow
- 51:33the roof off the place at US Bank. But it's such
- 51:36a short -term solution. right i think it's just
- 51:40pure mentorship right like right 100 if they
- 51:42sign aaron rogers then the vikings are all in
- 51:45on jj mccarthy still developing into that future
- 51:47quarterback to me yeah that's what that says
- 51:49if they go if they go and try to trade for mac
- 51:51jones who's not available right but if they try
- 51:53to go do something like that or obviously if
- 51:56they go for joe burrow or kyler murray then jj
- 51:58mccarthy's part of that trade for sure But I
- 52:02think if they get an Aaron Rodgers or trying
- 52:06to think of another. Oh, Kirk Cousins, right?
- 52:09I don't think he's back. From my source, right?
- 52:11Yeah, because Pinnock's probably not going to
- 52:13be back right away. From my source who talked.
- 52:16I better call him down here. Don't call him out.
- 52:20No, I'm not. No, I'm not going to call him out.
- 52:22It's who he talked to. Snitches get stitches.
- 52:25Who is extremely close to KOC. So, like, no chance
- 52:29that Kirk Cousins is back here. But I don't know.
- 52:31Is that a money thing? Because I already know.
- 52:33But haven't the Falcons already said he's being
- 52:35released, right? So it's not a Falcons thing.
- 52:37It's a Minnesota thing. I don't think allegedly
- 52:40Minnesota might not want to go a different, not
- 52:43repeat that again. One name we didn't bring up
- 52:47because it was too far down the list. What are
- 52:48you guys' thoughts on Kyle Pitts? Obviously,
- 52:50that's a big name in Atlanta. He's a free agent.
- 52:54I think if you need to tie down, he should go
- 52:57to the Chiefs. If Travis Kelsey doesn't come
- 52:59back? He should go to the Steelers. He probably
- 53:00stays in Atlanta. You think so? Yeah. With what's
- 53:06-his -face Kevin Savansky coming in. I think
- 53:08he's going to want all the weapons he can. Right.
- 53:10I mean, he does good things with tight ends.
- 53:14And Joku does... Did pretty well in that system.
- 53:17And he's a free agent, right, Nojoku? Yeah, he
- 53:19said he's not going to resign with the Browns.
- 53:25He's a Chiefs rumor. Yeah, you've got a pretty
- 53:27deep free agent class here. This is going to
- 53:30be pretty explosive when we get to March. What
- 53:33were you just saying? I was going to say something
- 53:35off what you said, and I done forgot. You brought
- 53:38up Kyle Pitts. Oh, I'm thinking maybe if he went
- 53:42to, like, the Steelers. And then you've got Kyle
- 53:44Pitts and DK up there, just two gigantic targets.
- 53:47One Washington. He's like combined both of them.
- 53:50Oh, my God. Who's going to cover who? Good luck.
- 53:55Kittle's at 19 average a year, so that's where
- 53:58top tight end money is right now. That's where
- 54:00Pitts would be. No. Pitts is not worth that.
- 54:03No. That's what he'd be asking. I mean, that's...
- 54:05So, we also have to back up and think about...
- 54:07Just because he's asking doesn't mean that's
- 54:08what he's saying yet. So, we've got to think
- 54:10about what the standards have been around quarterback
- 54:11and other play, right? Like, they've been paying
- 54:14the standards for less than standard. But look
- 54:17at his stats. His productivity over... I'm not
- 54:20paying confidence. No. Look at... Look at Trevor
- 54:23Lawrence. I think this year, obviously, was a
- 54:25huge anomaly compared to his career, right? He's
- 54:28on the rise, son. Look at what he was paid prior
- 54:30to this, right? So there's a standard. But that's
- 54:33the quarterback market, though. That's a very
- 54:36different market and standard than any of the
- 54:39other ones. Because quarterback is the position,
- 54:44so you're going to have to overpay for a quarterback
- 54:49that you think is going to be the guy to bring
- 54:53it home. I like it. Let's move on here. I'm just
- 55:02looking at Sally. I'm all mentally into free
- 55:04agents. Let's shift gears. Where are we at, Kev?
- 55:09Before I shift the old gear. We're going to go
- 55:13ahead and shift gears and wrap this thing up
- 55:15here in a second. But before we do, first off,
- 55:18the most likely to have been a trash can in a
- 55:22previous life, the kid eats everything trophy
- 55:25goes to... Dom, who was our Banter with the Boys
- 55:30playoff prediction champion. Congrats, Dom. So,
- 55:33Dom, as you're working right now listening to
- 55:35this, congrats. That's it. Congrats, you're not
- 55:39a trash can. And the trophy's actually robbed,
- 55:42so you've got to talk to him. Anyway, thanks
- 55:45for playing. Anyway, real quick, I'm going to
- 55:49fly through the awards. If you want to say anything
- 55:51about them, go for it. I didn't do all of them,
- 55:53just the main ones. And then we're going to talk
- 55:55about Hall of Fame because I feel like there's
- 55:57going to be some conversation there, and we'll
- 55:58wrap up there. So MVP, John Matthew Stafford
- 56:03won MVP. And his veneers. Yep. I'm sure glad
- 56:10he won it and then Drake didn't play like that.
- 56:12Oh my gosh, can you imagine? And then the controversy
- 56:17over the Hall of Fame voting, or excuse me, not
- 56:20Hall of Fame voting, but the MVP voting. Oh,
- 56:22the Herbert? Yeah, the three votes that didn't
- 56:25go to either Stafford or May. It was just like,
- 56:29really? Okay. Dumb. Like, I'm a Herbert fan?
- 56:32Dumb. Come on. I mean, if we're going to have
- 56:34conversations over what value... No, I did not.
- 56:39Why wouldn't you pick Patrick Mahomes or Lamar
- 56:43Jackson? Because they were injured and their
- 56:46teams didn't excel because their quarterbacks
- 56:52were hurt. Throw it somewhere. I wouldn't have
- 56:56been mad about it. Herbert seemed like I didn't
- 56:59want to vote for any of the other guys intentionally,
- 57:00so I'm going to throw this away. That's no disrespect
- 57:03to Herbert. He's great. Left field. Yeah, because,
- 57:08I mean, he did ball out, like, hand injury and
- 57:11everything. He was like, oh, I'm... He gritted
- 57:13through it. He's one of those AI hands. Yeah,
- 57:17that Tyler wants. Matthew Stafford, right. The
- 57:19ones that click in after they cut my hand off
- 57:21when I can't deal with it anymore. Yeah, anyway.
- 57:25Everybody's like, what the reason? Yes, very
- 57:28good. But I guess Matthew Stafford goes by his
- 57:31middle name, Matthew, because his dad's name
- 57:33is John. So to distinguish between them, I guess
- 57:36he went with Matthew, turns out. So anyway, I
- 57:38didn't know that. I was like, John Matthew Stafford?
- 57:41I was like, who the hell is that? Anyway, sorry.
- 57:44Coach of the Year, Mike Rabel. There were a lot
- 57:48of good options for Coach of the Year this year.
- 57:51I thought Ben Johnson was going to get it for
- 57:53sure. Who would be two? Who would be two? Mike
- 57:57McDonald, I guess. Well, now, yeah, after that
- 58:00game. Mike McDonald. What Shanahan was able to
- 58:05do in San Francisco with all those injuries,
- 58:07I think he was worth strongly considering as
- 58:11Coach of the Year also. Comeback Player of the
- 58:15Year, CMC. Offensive player of the year, JSN.
- 58:18Yep. Defense player of the year, Myles Garrett.
- 58:21Yeah. I mean, he got the sack record, right?
- 58:23Barely. Barely, but he got it. He can think.
- 58:25He can think for that one. Yes, he can. Jared
- 58:28Allen would like a word, please, after getting
- 58:30his sack revoked. Offensive rookie of the year,
- 58:34Ted Arroa, McMillan. Well -deserved, but that
- 58:36one surprised me a little bit. T -Mac. Who else
- 58:38were you? I think there were just some other
- 58:41players on the list that I'm like. Mika Abuko.
- 58:45Was he on the list? Yeah, he was, but he was
- 58:47on fire earlier. He kind of dropped off. I can't
- 58:51remember the name. T -Mac was the other way around.
- 58:53He was quiet in the beginning. There was another
- 58:55name that I'm like, oh, it could be this guy.
- 58:57I was pleasantly surprised, I should say. Cam
- 59:00Ward was under the radar. If you just looked
- 59:04at stats, you could probably make a case for
- 59:06Cam Ward, minus the wins and losses. I think
- 59:12Jackson Dart was on the list, and I just assumed
- 59:14it was going to go to him, knowing that he had
- 59:16a decent year. Tyler Shuck was another one. Shuck
- 59:20got favorites a lot, like super late. He came
- 59:22on later in the season, though, obviously. So
- 59:24there was some recency there. Because he only
- 59:26played like six games. Did you see him in the
- 59:28parade this past weekend, hugging balls into
- 59:30the crowd? Dude, he's throwing piss missiles
- 59:32at these kids' faces and shit. And it's like
- 59:35dark, right? Because it's like Mardi Gras and
- 59:36shit. It's like you're drunk. And everybody's
- 59:38got lights and stuff, but he's got these light
- 59:40-up footballs, and he's on top of the football.
- 59:41Just piping them. I love it. It's like your drunk
- 59:45uncle after the cookout is done. He's just playing
- 59:49some three on three. Go deep, Uncle Rico. Deep
- 59:53is the rookie of the year. Carson Schlesinger.
- 59:55That one was great. I have some of his cards.
- 59:57Got an auto of his, so I was pumped about that.
- 59:58I just pulled his rookie the other day. Yeah,
- 1:00:02I think so, right? The. Make sure you get the
- 1:00:05in there. What do you think the moment of the
- 1:00:08year was? The one moment of the year? Like when
- 1:00:16the Vikes got the miracle play. Charbonnet picking
- 1:00:20up that two -point conversion. That might be
- 1:00:24one of the craziest plays I saw all year. There
- 1:00:27was a lot of great catches. Yeah, a lot of great
- 1:00:30catches. I'm just trying to think some crazy
- 1:00:33games, if there was any really ridiculous endings.
- 1:00:36I hate to say it as a Packer fan. Honestly, Caleb
- 1:00:40Williams has like three throws where it's just
- 1:00:44crazy arm angles out of the pocket by 30 yards
- 1:00:47deep. It's a lot of that. That's the one that
- 1:00:50won Moment of the Year. Yeah, that's the one
- 1:00:51that won it, and I would probably agree. I think
- 1:00:54we should remind them each time we have them
- 1:00:56on next year. But that was the Moment of the
- 1:00:58Year. bears on a hail mary from freaking caleb
- 1:01:01williams yeah and that's why we need more corner
- 1:01:04help because that doesn't happen then all right
- 1:01:06nixon too all right all right because this is
- 1:01:08probably about to be at least 10 minutes we'll
- 1:01:10wrap this thing up but he did for sure hall of
- 1:01:13fame oh boy here we go drew breeze larry fitch
- 1:01:16gerald yeah luke keekly one of us adam venetary
- 1:01:19and roger craig Why are there not more people?
- 1:01:24Was that five? This year was five. The eight
- 1:01:28is the max. Are the more people supposed to be
- 1:01:32Kraft and Bill Belichick? Is that what you're
- 1:01:34getting at here? They had one for Deflategate
- 1:01:37and Spygate, clearly. So we know where you're
- 1:01:40lying on it. No, we don't. I'm just telling you
- 1:01:42what other people thought. You don't put words
- 1:01:45in my mouth. You put food in people's mouths.
- 1:01:47But you've got some wide receivers that didn't
- 1:01:50make it. Terrell Suggs arguably should be a Hall
- 1:01:53of Famer. No Homer bias. No bias. Look at the
- 1:01:59stats. He's got two Super Bowl rings. Only one
- 1:02:02with the Ravens. True. Is that the main one?
- 1:02:07I think quarterback's the only one who gets that
- 1:02:08freebie. I think, yeah, Suggs is the one that...
- 1:02:11People are upset a little bit about Eli Manning,
- 1:02:13that Luke Kuechly is in there, but Eli Manning's
- 1:02:15not. I was like, bloody. I think Eli deserves
- 1:02:17it. Luke was incredible. Yeah, do not come at
- 1:02:19me for Luke Kuechly. Hold on. I'll lose my mind.
- 1:02:21But Manning did this twice. Yeah, what does Luke
- 1:02:23Kuechly do? I got concussions. Man, but if you
- 1:02:27look at it, he is the second highest rated PFF
- 1:02:31player or middle linebacker ever. Ever. Ever.
- 1:02:34And that's fine. Patrick Willis was first. Right.
- 1:02:37He was also in the Hall of Fame. Right. And how
- 1:02:39many rings does he have? Why does it come down
- 1:02:42to rings, though? I get it, but why does it come
- 1:02:44down to rings? Did he end up getting one? No.
- 1:02:46I don't think he has any. When it's a team thing
- 1:02:49and the Hall of Fame is your individual career.
- 1:02:51If you are the middle linebacker of your team,
- 1:02:54you are the play caller of your defense. You
- 1:02:58are the most important person on your defense.
- 1:03:00So when you have a Dan Marino situation or someone
- 1:03:04that is a really great quarterback that maybe
- 1:03:06didn't see extreme success consistently throughout
- 1:03:09their career, is that something that then matters?
- 1:03:14It should be taken into consideration. If they're
- 1:03:15that same type of leader. 100%. It should be
- 1:03:19taken into consideration. But on the other side
- 1:03:20for Luke Kuechly was MVP level Cam Newton. So
- 1:03:23it's like, hmm. But he can't freaking. Go bounce
- 1:03:27on the ball. Good for Luke. I mean, Luke got
- 1:03:29in. He got shorty years of football. He's a good
- 1:03:32point, though. It is. I think Suggs will get
- 1:03:37in. The injuries are unfortunate. For sure. So
- 1:03:39if you had to pick between Luke and Suggs, who
- 1:03:42would you pick? I would take Suggs. You think
- 1:03:43Suggs was a better player overall? I think on
- 1:03:45paper I'd agree. Like, not being a Ravens fan.
- 1:03:47Because of longevity. Well, longevity, I think
- 1:03:50the difference in play. And then if you need
- 1:03:52to put success in there, obviously you have to
- 1:03:54look at that. Because arguably during the Luke
- 1:03:54Kuechly era, it was Bobby Wagner and Luke Kuechly
- 1:03:57who were the best middle linebackers playing
- 1:03:58at the time. And Bobby Wagner. He's definitely
- 1:04:02probably going to get into the Hall of Fame too.
- 1:04:04I hope so. He just won Man of the Year. Also,
- 1:04:09I was going to bring up Man of the Year. Is there
- 1:04:10ever a bad winner? No, they all have great stories.
- 1:04:14I love it. He should not have won it. Is there
- 1:04:18anybody that's been upset about who won? Because
- 1:04:21it's all off the field stuff, when it is a player
- 1:04:24on a team that you don't root for, you don't
- 1:04:27see, you don't know their actual impact. hear
- 1:04:31about it 100 humanizes it having the ability
- 1:04:34to see the things that they're doing for their
- 1:04:37for their community for the organization for
- 1:04:40the nfl it's awesome so it's yeah it's hard to
- 1:04:43be like oh not that guy I feel like the generation
- 1:04:48we're in now more than ever, as you see, there
- 1:04:50are way more good people. You're like, crap,
- 1:04:52I don't want to like that person because they
- 1:04:53play for this team. And then you see something
- 1:04:55like that. I think it's different. I think what
- 1:04:57happens over time is probably the opposite, where
- 1:05:00if you see a player that has longevity, that's
- 1:05:02that big -time player, and they're not nominated
- 1:05:05or they don't get that spotlight, you're like,
- 1:05:07oh, I wonder what they're actually like. So I
- 1:05:08think it's the reverse effect. Fair enough. Put
- 1:05:13them all in. Put them all in. Everybody gets
- 1:05:17to that. Anything about Bill that we want to?
- 1:05:19This is not the Basketball Hall of Fame. Fair.
- 1:05:24It'll happen. It's definitely like an FU to both
- 1:05:27of them. Yes. Bill Belichick? Yes. Did you hear
- 1:05:31Rob Gronkowski, was he being interviewed by Rich
- 1:05:36Eisen? He was just totally taking pot shots at
- 1:05:39the Hall of Fame results. He's like, man. I don't
- 1:05:42know if I'm going to be a first ballot Hall of
- 1:05:44Famer because I never had a good head coach and
- 1:05:48my quarterback. Who knows if he's a Hall of Famer?
- 1:05:53God, I like those little slide digs. Well, it's
- 1:05:56funny, but it's a good point. So then if he doesn't
- 1:05:57get in, does Tom Brady not get in? I don't know.
- 1:06:01We're talking goofy talk now. Well, we're talking
- 1:06:04goofy talk because of what just happened. I think
- 1:06:06the writers are bitter. They're just people that
- 1:06:09are bitter. penalize them a year for the plate
- 1:06:13gate in. And now it sounds like they're going
- 1:06:15to get penalized, right? For leaking the salary.
- 1:06:17Or that, or do they hold like staff and, and
- 1:06:21head coach and stuff to the same level as a player.
- 1:06:24You know what I mean? Like, I feel like Tom Brady,
- 1:06:27they say they, there should be different categories
- 1:06:29and stuff, which probably should be at this point.
- 1:06:31You know what I mean? But I think there's no
- 1:06:33way Tom Brady's not. Yeah. But we're never going
- 1:06:36to know. Cause it's, we do know they're no longer
- 1:06:38a voter. Because I did see Harrison just grill
- 1:06:41Dungy, who is a voter, on live TV this weekend.
- 1:06:46So it'll be interesting to see how Tony rebuttals
- 1:06:50that. Probably won't. I wouldn't. Just take it?
- 1:06:54If he takes it or he says heck it and gives us
- 1:06:57two cents. I don't know. I feel like Tony Dungy
- 1:07:00wouldn't have voted for... Kraft or Belichick
- 1:07:05out of spite. Because he beat there all the time?
- 1:07:08No, because he actually has a terrible record
- 1:07:10against them. But Tony Dungy, he's a man of God,
- 1:07:14so he's really going to probably do that. He's
- 1:07:17going to internalize it first. He's voting on
- 1:07:19that human aspect where you had those other three
- 1:07:21candidates that are running out of time to actually
- 1:07:23get in. So I could probably... My thought is...
- 1:07:28He voted with his heart and was just like, no,
- 1:07:30this guy I feel is worthy. And I'm glad Roger
- 1:07:33Craig got it. Hometown, right? You think about
- 1:07:35some of those feel -good things. It makes sense.
- 1:07:37Roger Craig should have gotten in. He's one of
- 1:07:41three players in NFL history, what is it, to
- 1:07:45rush for 1 ,000 yards and receive for 1 ,000
- 1:07:48yards. CMC is one. And then CJ2K. Yeah, it was.
- 1:07:53Christopher. No, it wasn't. Was it LT then? No,
- 1:07:56it wasn't LT either. Priest? Nope. Dickerson?
- 1:08:00Nope. Larry Johnson? Nope. Marcus? Nope. OJ?
- 1:08:06Nope. Too soon? That was Miles on the Broncos,
- 1:08:11not Ryan. Gosh, who was the third one here? Hold
- 1:08:15on, I'm pulling it up here. Marshall Falk. Marshall
- 1:08:18Falk. And Roger Craig being the first one to
- 1:08:21do it, you know, obviously kind of revolutionized
- 1:08:23a little bit of the receiving running back game.
- 1:08:25So that was cool to see him. It was cool to see
- 1:08:27how much it meant to him, which it means to all
- 1:08:29of them. But when you're waiting that long and
- 1:08:30seeing how emotional he got, that was really
- 1:08:32cool to see how much it meant. Congratulations,
- 1:08:34recipients. You did it. Straight from Rob. Yeah,
- 1:08:39we'll send you an awesome sticker. Oh, I thought
- 1:08:41you were going to say we'll send you an awesome
- 1:08:42trophy. We'll send you an awesome trophy. So
- 1:08:45if you see this in your spam folder, don't throw
- 1:08:48it away. Oh, my God. You're not actual garbage.
- 1:08:52This is all we have. Well, anyway. We'll eat
- 1:08:54all you want. It is all we have, actually. Yeah,
- 1:08:57yeah. But you've got to fight Dom for it because
- 1:08:59it's his, technically. Oh, it's Rob's. That's
- 1:09:00right. You've got to fight Rob first. You got
- 1:09:03to fight a ton of people. There's layers to this
- 1:09:05thing. We're taking bets. It's a whole... Anyway.
- 1:09:07All right. We got to wrap this thing, fellas,
- 1:09:10because we're way over time. I don't want it
- 1:09:13to end. Yeah, this is the last episode of the
- 1:09:16season. It is. It is. That's it. That's it. Rest
- 1:09:19in peace. You might catch us do a little draft
- 1:09:23low free agent. Yeah. You know. Never know. Maybe.
- 1:09:26We always tease it and then never do it. My friends
- 1:09:29were asking me, are you guys going to do an off
- 1:09:33-season free agency? Yeah, we're doing it. Kevin,
- 1:09:37we're coming over next week. I was actually trying
- 1:09:41to come to the barn next Tuesday. Just keep traditional.
- 1:09:43I like it. Anyway, Justin, thanks for being here,
- 1:09:48man. Thanks for giving us your Packer insight
- 1:09:50this season. I am disturbed that they... It turns
- 1:09:55out they're going to be in the NFC North again
- 1:09:56next year. So that sucks. Sword on the street.
- 1:10:00I expect the Vikes to finish fourth again. But
- 1:10:04they didn't finish fourth this year, which is
- 1:10:06dope. So that was cool. Depends on the quarterback's
- 1:10:09pitch. Anyway, I'm going. I'm tangent. Thanks
- 1:10:10for being here. Jake. Hey, Rob. Thanks for becoming
- 1:10:13another co -host this year. You're welcome. You
- 1:10:17were excellent. I try. Yeah. Well prepared. Thank
- 1:10:21you for being an awesome guest. Host. Thanks
- 1:10:23for having me. I'm just trying to stare at him
- 1:10:24until it's awkward. Yeah. Okay. Only a few. Should
- 1:10:28we start whispering crazy? No, because then Kevin's
- 1:10:30just going to get mad at us. Yeah, he's already
- 1:10:31giving me eyeballs over there. Roberto. Coach.
- 1:10:36Another season. I know. I can't believe we did
- 1:10:38it. It went fast. This is two full seasons for
- 1:10:40us. It is. And I can't believe we've had 300
- 1:10:42episodes on the channel, too. Nuh -uh. No, not
- 1:10:45300 episodes. Three seasons. There it is. Hundreds
- 1:10:50in seasons. It's been a long season. It'll be
- 1:10:56fun. It was to the date, though, last episode,
- 1:10:58right, Kev, that we ripped? Last Tuesday, it
- 1:11:00was to the date. Three years? Three years. Are
- 1:11:03you sure it's not four? Yeah, it's three. Thanks
- 1:11:07for everyone watching. Thanks for all awesome,
- 1:11:10gentle, nice comments. Then we did that season,
- 1:11:13then that season. On all our takes. You'll catch
- 1:11:16up. It's okay. We talked about four football
- 1:11:19seasons, but the first one was only the Super
- 1:11:21Bowl. That's what's tripping me up right now.
- 1:11:23There we go. That's what started it. Yeah, that's
- 1:11:25fine. Anyway, none of you guys care. And then
- 1:11:28we get to do an outro. Yeah. Oh, outro, yes.
- 1:11:32God, if only I knew what to say. So much pressure.
- 1:11:36Don't forget to like, comment, subscribe, or
- 1:11:37maybe listen to the banter, whether that's YouTube,
- 1:11:39Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or iHeartRadio. And
- 1:11:42we will see you next season, maybe. Go Bikes!
- 1:11:49Don't forget to follow, like, and subscribe.
- 1:11:53Tune in next time for more banter with the boys.
