- 0:04Speaker 1: Back to the Craig Way Show. Connect with Craig through
- 0:07Speaker 1: the text line by text Team Texas to eight one
- 0:10Speaker 1: five three zero, followed by your message. Standard message and
- 0:14Speaker 1: data rates may apply. A couple of questions on the
- 0:22Speaker 1: text line. Somebody when we were talking about NASCAR, and
- 0:25Speaker 1: he says, can A. J. Foyd get some love here Houston, Texas,
- 0:29Speaker 1: Texans the Houston, Texas native. Well. AJ Foyd did race NASCAR,
- 0:38Speaker 1: but his success was far more extensive as an IndyCar racer,
- 0:45Speaker 1: four time winner of the Indy five hundred, one of
- 0:47Speaker 1: the greatest open wheel racers ever. So that's that's when
- 0:51Speaker 1: I think of when I think of A. J. Ford,
- 0:53Speaker 1: I think of him as an IndyCar champion more so
- 0:57Speaker 1: than the NASCAR. But he did he drove his number
- 1:00Speaker 1: fourteen on the NASCAR circuit. He did do that. When
- 1:06Speaker 1: we were talking about the statement the audio where the
- 1:12Speaker 1: athletic director for the University of Utah went off and
- 1:19Speaker 1: I do mean went off on the Big twelve conference
- 1:23Speaker 1: and the officiating crew. And also part of what he
- 1:26Speaker 1: was reprimanded for was he was also seen berating an
- 1:33Speaker 1: official on the field when the game ended, and of
- 1:37Speaker 1: course that was Kevin Mars crew, and I said, you know,
- 1:40Speaker 1: it didn't really surprise me because Kevin Mars crew really
- 1:47Speaker 1: seemed to struggle at times in some games that I
- 1:50Speaker 1: witnessed with my own eyes broadcasting when Texas was playing
- 1:53Speaker 1: in those and on both sides, it's not a one
- 1:56Speaker 1: sided thing. I was awful against Texas. I'm talking on
- 1:59Speaker 1: both sides on that. And somebody said, Kevin mar and
- 2:02Speaker 1: David Alvarez's crews are the bane of my existence. Thank goodness,
- 2:06Speaker 1: we don't have to deal with those clown shows anymore.
- 2:08Speaker 1: It's funny because people have been grumbling about the SEC
- 2:12Speaker 1: officials this year to people grumble about officiating period in
- 2:18Speaker 1: the NFL. You know, if you follow a lot of
- 2:23Speaker 1: what people are saying about NFL officials, it's like every
- 2:27Speaker 1: official who works at Kansas City Chiefs game is told,
- 2:31Speaker 1: you got to take it easy there with my homes.
- 2:34Speaker 1: He's precious property. At the National Football Leagues, you have
- 2:37Speaker 1: to be careful on that. I didn't have as big
- 2:43Speaker 1: an issue on games that I can remember that David
- 2:47Speaker 1: Alvarez's crew worked, certainly, not as much as Kevin Mar's
- 2:50Speaker 1: crew and Scott Campbell. I do find it interesting that
- 2:57Speaker 1: some officials who were considered to be at best average,
- 3:05Speaker 1: slightly above average maybe in working in the Big twelve
- 3:08Speaker 1: are now working in the National Football League. There are
- 3:11Speaker 1: three or four crews I could tell you that worked
- 3:14Speaker 1: in the Big twelve and I was like this, and
- 3:16Speaker 1: now they're working in the NFL. For whatever that's worth.
- 3:20Speaker 1: See Palace Morning said, our field goals are concerned. We
- 3:23Speaker 1: don't need more, missus. I'm going to grant Burt Auburn
- 3:28Speaker 1: and Grace on. That's a fifty one yarder, a little
- 3:30Speaker 1: bit of breeze, cross breeze coming in, so you know,
- 3:34Speaker 1: I'm not going to worry so much about that. If
- 3:39Speaker 1: he's missing in the forty to forty five range, and
- 3:42Speaker 1: he has missed four field goals this year, so if
- 3:47Speaker 1: if he's missing in the forty to forty five yard range, yeah,
- 3:52Speaker 1: then I think it would be a concern because he
- 3:55Speaker 1: should be able to make those. And actually I said
- 3:57Speaker 1: he's missed four, he's missed three. He was six of
- 4:00Speaker 1: eight going into the ballgame and he missed that one.
- 4:03Speaker 1: So he's six of nine this season and the two
- 4:10Speaker 1: of the misses were in the forty to forty nine
- 4:12Speaker 1: yard range. And the other one he missed was the
- 4:15Speaker 1: fifty one yard of the other day. So that's you know,
- 4:18Speaker 1: that's where that was. Okay, So there's there's something else
- 4:23Speaker 1: I want to get to. This was something that was
- 4:25Speaker 1: written by Bill Conley, college football writer for ESPN, and
- 4:30Speaker 1: he said, now it's headed down this home stretch. He
- 4:34Speaker 1: mentions there are twenty five things, twenty five things that
- 4:41Speaker 1: could happen that could decide the national title. And I
- 4:46Speaker 1: read his column pretty regularly, although I will admit to
- 4:50Speaker 1: you what drew my eyes to it was the fact
- 4:52Speaker 1: it's a big picture of Quinn you weres throwing the
- 4:54Speaker 1: football and the and the cut line underneath the photo
- 4:59Speaker 1: said as if Quinn Ewers continues to produce like he
- 5:02Speaker 1: did against Florida, Texas could be the favorite to win
- 5:04Speaker 1: the national title. But here, with regard to what can
- 5:10Speaker 1: impact the national championship race, number twenty five quite simply
- 5:15Speaker 1: is the game Tennessee at Georgia this week. He said,
- 5:19Speaker 1: I'm really curious how far the College Football Committee drops
- 5:23Speaker 1: Georgia this week following the Bulldog's loss to Ole miss
- 5:27Speaker 1: The Committee tends to use head to head results as
- 5:29Speaker 1: tiebreakers if two teams that played each other are anywhere
- 5:32Speaker 1: close in the standings, and if Georgia, which was third
- 5:35Speaker 1: last week, were to fall to the eight to eleven range,
- 5:38Speaker 1: that would put the Dogs close to both Alabama and
- 5:41Speaker 1: Ole Miss, two teams that beat them. That might drop
- 5:45Speaker 1: George even farther far enough that loss to Tennessee might
- 5:48Speaker 1: knock the Dogs out of serious playoff consideration. Altogether, he's
- 5:52Speaker 1: got Indiana and Ohio State on November twenty third. Is
- 5:55Speaker 1: that is element number twenty four. His other things include
- 6:03Speaker 1: five potential upsets Notre Dame versus Army. If Army were
- 6:10Speaker 1: to win Penn State at Minnesota also on that same day,
- 6:14Speaker 1: on the twenty third. That's the same day, by the way,
- 6:16Speaker 1: as the Ohio State Indiana game. Notre Dame at USC
- 6:21Speaker 1: on November thirtieth. I guess that's from the Notre Dame perspective.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Tennessee at Vanderbilt on November thirtieth. And then number nineteen
- 6:30Speaker 1: on the list is Texas at Texas A and M.
- 6:32Speaker 1: He said, Texas A and M is still harboring playoff
- 6:34Speaker 1: hopes of its own, even if we tends to moralizing.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Loss at South Carolina knocked the Aggies back a bit.
- 6:40Speaker 1: The Aggies will be projected favors obviously against New Mexico
- 6:44Speaker 1: State at Auburn and could be facing when and you're
- 6:47Speaker 1: in stakes when Texas comes to town. The Long Words
- 6:50Speaker 1: look fantastic Saturday, albeit against the massively banged of Florida team,
- 6:54Speaker 1: and they might still need this one the clinch a
- 6:55Speaker 1: spot in the SEC Championship game, big stakes for the
- 6:58Speaker 1: return of a big rivalry. And then it's got five
- 7:02Speaker 1: units that could ruin everything. And it says Texas has
- 7:07Speaker 1: the highest national title odds at this point, even if
- 7:10Speaker 1: the Long Wruns have about a one and six chance
- 7:12Speaker 1: according to their playoff predictor the major reason they lead
- 7:16Speaker 1: that way, they seem to have the fewest standout weaknesses.
- 7:19Speaker 1: A few of the other major contenders don't appear to
- 7:22Speaker 1: be quite so lucky. From eighteen to sixteen Alabama's Ohio
- 7:26Speaker 1: States and Penn State's third and long offenses. He says, true,
- 7:31Speaker 1: almost no one is actually good on third and long,
- 7:33Speaker 1: but those are less of that number. Fifteen would be
- 7:36Speaker 1: Oregon's run defense. They rank thirty second in rushing success
- 7:41Speaker 1: rate allowed on forty seventh in yards per kerry with
- 7:44Speaker 1: no sacks, but among the ten primary title contenders. Teams
- 7:48Speaker 1: are more likely to run the ball well on Oregon
- 7:50Speaker 1: than on anyone else. George's passing game is number fourteen.
- 7:55Speaker 1: On that, then he's got three spoilers. Bryce and Daily,
- 7:58Speaker 1: the Army quarterback in teen number twelve, asked in Genti
- 8:01Speaker 1: the boyse he State running back number eleven, Marcel Reid
- 8:05Speaker 1: or Connor Wigman Texas A and M and properly dialed
- 8:08Speaker 1: in A and M as physical and a very frustrating
- 8:10Speaker 1: team to play. Then he's got three fifty fifties potential contenders,
- 8:15Speaker 1: potential spoilers, Nico Iomailiava of Tennessee at number ten, Jackson
- 8:20Speaker 1: Dart of Old Miss number nine, Curtis Rourke, the Indiana
- 8:23Speaker 1: quarterback at number eight, And then he's got seven starting quarterbacks.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Quinn viewers number seven, says yours first three games after
- 8:30Speaker 1: returning from an oblique injury were not great against Oklomba,
- 8:33Speaker 1: Georgia and Vanderbilt. He never topped even six and a
- 8:35Speaker 1: half yards per drop back, and he threw four interceptions
- 8:37Speaker 1: with ten sacks against Florida on Saturday, however, he was
- 8:40Speaker 1: nineteen to twenty seven for three hundred and thirty three yards,
- 8:43Speaker 1: five scores, one sack, nine completions of twenty plus yards,
- 8:46Speaker 1: and he spread the ball around to a number of
- 8:48Speaker 1: exciting receivers too. The Horns overwhelmed the Gators with pure options,
- 8:52Speaker 1: and yours was as good as he's been all year.
- 8:54Speaker 1: If that continues, ut is the title favorite. Number six,
- 8:57Speaker 1: he lives Carson Beck Georgia with his shaky of lately
- 9:00Speaker 1: Number five, Riley Leonard, a number name quarterback, number four,
- 9:03Speaker 1: Drew Aller, the Penn State quarterback, Number three, Will Howard
- 9:06Speaker 1: of Ohio State, Number two, Jalen Milroe of Alabama. Number
- 9:09Speaker 1: one Dylan and Gabriel of Oregon. And so anyway, there's
- 9:14Speaker 1: some thoughts on what might or have happened. All of
- 9:17Speaker 1: this does for me is show how unsettled everything is.
- 9:22Speaker 1: And I don't know that you. I don't know that
- 9:27Speaker 1: you can say one is a clear favorite twin the
- 9:30Speaker 1: national title, if only because they're still head to head
- 9:32Speaker 1: games to come. If you say Oregon, you say okay.
- 9:35Speaker 1: So they'll beat Ohio State again in a rematch in
- 9:38Speaker 1: the Big Ten championship game in Indianapolis on a neutral
- 9:41Speaker 1: field when they barely beat him at home? Is that
- 9:43Speaker 1: what you're saying. If you say Ohio State, Okay, they've
- 9:46Speaker 1: already lost to Oregon. Yeah they play them at a
- 9:48Speaker 1: neutral site, but are sure about that. If you say Texas,
- 9:53Speaker 1: then you cite their closing schedule and having a deal
- 9:57Speaker 1: with going to college station. If you talk about Alabama
- 10:00Speaker 1: on the rise, yes they are, and they played they
- 10:02Speaker 1: looked really good against LSU on Saturday. But they actually
- 10:05Speaker 1: have almost i'm gonna say almost, not completely, but almost
- 10:10Speaker 1: zero margin for error involved in this. So there's lots
- 10:14Speaker 1: of George and Ole miss are in the same category
- 10:16Speaker 1: with that, So there's still a lot yet to be decided.
- 10:20Speaker 1: We'll be back to wrap up Power number two on
- 10:21Speaker 1: Sports MEDIOAM thirteen under the Zone
