  Well, let's get into the news. We have a lot of news

  stories, so let's do it Star Trek News. So yeah, our first

  news story comes to us from screen Rant. And this week or yesterday actually

  was the big presentation at New York City Comic Con, so they had the

  big Star Trek presentation. There wasn't a lot of new information, and that's

  probably because the of the actors strike still going, so they couldn't say a
• 2:50
  lot. They did kick off their Boldly Be campaign and we'll show some of
• 2:53
  that in a minute. But as far as anything new, they did say
• 2:58
  that the writer's room for Star Trek Academy has reopened. It reopened last week,

  that they love Tawny Newsome, that she's in there. Awesome. Yeah,
• 3:08
  and so that's moving along, you know how far along they are what
• 3:15
  they've done they didn't really say, but it's going on. They did also
• 3:20
  say that yes, section thirty one is still happening, and they're excited about
• 3:29
  Okay, yeah, they're more excited than we are, I'm sure, yeah,

  yeah at this point. Yeah. Also, yes, Discovery Season five
• 3:37
  will be the final season and it should get a whole big marketing push once
• 3:42
  they're ready to set a date for that. But what was interesting was the

  things not announced, right, There was no announcement about Strange in the World

  season three. It'll happen, it's just because of the strike. There's you

  know, so far out. Yeah, it's so far out. There wasn't

  really anything to mention, nothing about legacy, Star Trek legacy, and nothing

  about Star Trek for another movie. So, I mean Star Trek four,

  that's that's kind of been the laughing stock, you know, you know with

  Tarantino and you know last year when they announced, yeah, we're doing Star
• 4:18
  Trek four and all the Star Trek you know, jj Abrams actors are like,

  really, that's news to us, and exactly, you know, said

  like it put us in a better negotiating position because now we know you guys
• 4:30
  want to do it right exactly, yeah, exactly. And as far as

  Star Trek legacy, has there ever been like what kind of official announcements have

  there been about that. There hasn't been anything. There hasn't been, It's

  just been talk so far, right, Yeah, Terry Mittellos kind of mentioned

  that he'd love to do it, and then the fan base is like,

  yes, please do it, but no announcement by a studio. I don't

  think the studio execs have talked about it at all. They just said we've

  heard you, but that doesn't mean anything, right, right, And then

  we did have the production designer of Star Trek Picard say that they need to

  hurry up and sign ter Metallis to a deal for me before he goes on

  to something else. Yeah. Yeah, So like I don't think that guy

  wouldn't be saying that if Metallis wasn't signed to something, right, you know,

  like if he was signed and they just haven't announced it yet, that

  guy would not have said that they they need to take Terry Mettallis and Jonathan

  Frakes and they need to lock them in a room maybe even like a box
• 5:36
  like the Gimp, and just bring them out whenever we need new Star Trek.

  Well, you know, everybody says Jonathan Frakes and that he should be

  you know, the I don't know Kevin Faigio this thing, right, but

  you know, Franks has has been one of the ones who has said that

  Discovery the one that is so divisive that that's a stuff. So I don't

  have a one hundred percent off I would give him the keys because yeah,

  like Terry Mettallas has been the one that that people love it almost universally.

  Well, then Jonathan Frakes could as could actually do the role of Kevin Figee

  and you just give Terry McCall metallis the keys, like the showrunner for Star
• 6:23
  Wars, so just have you know, Freakes could be like sort of the

  president, and then the hands on guy could be Metallis because he's obviously you
• 6:32
  know, involved in the storylines and stuff like that. He's he's putting out
• 6:35
  some good stuff. And I understand from you know, Jonathan Frakes's perspective,
• 6:41
  you know, Discovery is one of his babies, you know, so he's
• 6:46
  gonna be talking it up and I and I get that, right, and
• 6:50
  they might who knows, you know, Dan might be surprised. This might

  be a fantastic season of this guy. It could be, it could be

  hopefully, So then our next news story comes to us from pop Insider,

  official collaboration with Fortnite. I guess you can make custom maps and so Star

  Trek he is making a map and just releasing it. So, okay,

  I'll have to both of my kids. They don't really play Fortmite that much

  anymore, but they have, so they'll theyn't know how to look it up

  and see it. Yeah, So I guess that's out, So you can

  go and enjoy that all you want. Also, what was released during h

  New York Comic Con is that Star Trek Prodigy has been officially moved to Netflix

  SAI, so you'll get to see Janeway try to murder those kids. Yeah,

  and season two starting next year. We don't have a release date yet,

  but that will start next year. Yeah. There was some confusion about

  that online because I think some people were confused that there has only been one

  season of Prodigy because they released two parts. It was part one and part

  two of season one, so correct. Yeah, and I did see some

  people wondering, like, is Netflix going to have to produce a season two?

  No, that's pretty much done. It's just uploading it and presenting it.

  So okay, so they've felt they've filmed it. They or they've filmed

  it, they've done the voice activity, yeah, animated it and all that

  kind Okay, at least it won't go to waste. It should have been

  airing by now on on Paramount, So it's pretty much done. If not

  done, yeah, because you'd hate to see something like that go in the

  same vault that you know Batgirls in which right, those that don't know,

  Batgirl was a movie that was going to be released by it I think Warner

  Brothers or yeah, Warner Brothers, and they filmed it, they edited it,

  they put it on whatever media they put it on, ready to distribute

  to the theaters, and then the execs said, Nope, we don't like

  it. Kill it out there. People say that is unreleasable, like it's

  that bad. It's that I mean, which makes me want to see it.

  I mean, it could become like a cult favorite if they release it

  on like, you know, sort of an underground you know, get a

  couple of Blu ray copies out there, and yeah, so I don't I

  don't know, man, Well, hopefully at some point it is, but

  I'm not sure. Oh this is in Richmond, Virginia, the local

  affiliate there. This is kind of a bittersweet story. A Star Trek fans

  ashes will be launched into space. His family says, this is a perfect

  way to send him off. Oh wow, yeah, this this poor guy.

  He was young, like about eighteen to twenty, somewhere in there.

  He passed away in December of twenty twenty, and the family said it was

  really tough, you know, to lose him. He died of leukemia.

  But part of what made it even harder is that was during peak COVID,

  so they couldn't even really have a funeral for him. Oh yeah, So

  they have partnered up with this company. There's this new company called Beyond Burials,

  and for a fee, they will put your ashes on a rocket and

  send it to space, you know, once they have a wow. Yeah.

  So this s early new company will put a link to it in the

  description if this is something you choose to do for yourself for a loved one,

  just to give you an idea. The cost is fifteen hundred dollars to

  send the Ashes to space, which, honestly, I'm surprised it's that cheap.

  for funeral before. That's yeah, that's really that is cheap. I mean,

  episode, during the intro, not the Lower DECKX intro, but the Star

  Trek intro. Okay, there was the Koala. Yeah, I have seen

  him in there. Okay, so that's the first time I've seen the Quala

  in the the opening intro. So yeah, but but why is he smiling?

  What does he know? I don't know, you know. Before we

  continue, I would just like to say, and this might be jumping ahead

  before this Daniel just put up a picture of the Buyinars just before they get

  so quote unquote destroyed, and I noticed a secondary beam like kind of flowing

  through their ship. And I think they're being transported out before they're being destroyed.

  Yeah, maybe so. But but the whole point of this entire trek

  Cast episode is to acknowledge the fact that I was right, as it should

  as it should yeah so, But speaking of Buyinars, we got the Buyinars,

  that's right, And we got Badgie. That Badgie's back, yes,

  yes he is. Who were these guys, these guys with badgies? I

  don't recognize them, so I yeah, I tried. I couldn't get their

  their species name, Captain, her name just deluded me. The captain of

  the Soritos oh freeman. Freeman, Yeah, captain Freeman mentioned their species once,

  but I didn't catch it. Yeah. We also saw that Rutherford was

  playing with the grappler on a shuttle, kind of an Enterprise reference. They

  haven't really used those since Enterprise. Ronson says the pack lids. But no,

  those aren't the packlads, no, trust me, and I I would
• 17:29
  know if they were packlads. Yeah, I would have gotten a call.

  Ye, yeah, I would have gotten a call from their people for sure.

  So yeah, so they were playing around with the grappler and then they

  got the call that hey, we got to go investigate what's going on.

  And you know, Marin Earth thought that it was cool that we're finally getting

  some respect on the Critos, but it was really just because they were the

  closest ship. Were the only ship in Rage. How many times we heard

  that at Star Trek were the only ship in Rage. Yeah. But but

  because of that, because they were going one way, Boimler and Tindy had

  to go to the days Strum Institute to go hang out with some evil AI.

  Heck, yeah, yeah, I love the evil AI. The first

  one that was talking during the meeting, I don't know if he caught his

  name. He called himself Lord Tyrannic Chillicus. Yes, it's like a little

  spot on a little bit, a little bit. Yeah, and all the
• 18:27
  ais are kind of like in some sort of rehab or learning to not be
• 18:32
  evil, right, Yeah, so that was pretty fun. It ended up,
• 18:37
  you know that the I don't remember their names, but the AI voiced
• 18:42
  by Jeffrey Combs and Peanut Hamper, had a plot to escape and pretend that
• 18:51
  they were rehabilitated to then cause more mayhem and destruction by meeting at a beach
• 18:56
  on what was it, Costa Rica or like that. Yeah, yeah,

  yeah, yeah, Pena Hamper just uh she didn't want to you know,
• 19:07
  she she she left, uh Jeffrey Combs and you know, by himself.

  And then we find out later in the episode it was because uh, you
• 19:17
  know, maybe she does end up feeling some remorse for what she does.

  Yeah, yeah, so which is interesting, you know, and oh maybe
• 19:26
  the funny because Jeffrey Combs didn't want to do anything horrible either, right,
• 19:32
  right. They had actually been rehabilitated, so maybe at their core they're not
• 19:36
  evil, they're just you know a little bit misunderstood or maybe the more they
• 19:40
  evolve, and this is sort of leading into the next AI. Maybe the
• 19:45
  more they're evolved, the more they realize they don't need to be evil or
• 19:48
  don't want to be evil. Yeah. Well, and this also answered another
• 19:52
  question. We I mean, at least I thought that that ship floating around
• 19:56
  was Badgie. Oh okay, okay, and clearly it's not right. Was

  hanging out with the aliens who we can't name, and he ended up was
• 20:07
  getting hit by electricity or something and splitting off into Goody Googie, Goodgie,

  Yeah, Badgie and Badgie. And then later on logic Y logic e Yeah,

  I think we stopped at three badges, right, yep, And then

  logic Key was brutally murdered by Badgie. That's right, as he does,

  and it ended up that really Badgie Badge. You just had daddy issues,

  yeah, exactly. Yeah, when when Rutherford came over and and just said,

  uh, you know, I'm gonna do something I should have done a
• 20:42
  long time ago and just gave Badgie a hug. Yeah, so, hey,

  dad's go hug your kids. That's right, Maybe they won't turn out

  evil. Maybe I'm just saying maybe maybe they couldn't hurt. Do you give

  your kids a hug and say please don't turn evil. I give my hit

  episode. It was just more amusing. No, I think it was an

  episode to set up the last couple episodes. I think they were trying to

  Yeah, I agree with that. It kind of makes me think we're not

  going to get a filler episode like we've been gotten in the past. That's

  just like completely different and off the wall and right right. No, Yeah,

  this one this season I think is leading up to that whole mystery.

  It's gonna be a giant I have no idea what the mystery ship is my

  my my clairvoyance only goes so far. So when I'm wondering if we even

  get an answer this season, there's been such a build up. Yeah,

  I would think so, I would think we would get an answer. But

  you know, if they if they go to you know, if it's a

  there's been such such a build up all season long that if they played the

  dramatic music and Riker says fire and then it says to be continued, I'm

  gonna be pissed. Right well, I wonder if like Peanut Hamper and the

  Jeffrey Cones AI come together to help them and Goodie. Oh yeah, they're

  building up their revengers of good AI. Yes they are, Yes, they

  are so. Oh. One other thing I noticed too, and we've talked

  about it before, about the the opening credits where in the first season it
• 22:57
  was just a borg fight, you know, there was a battle. And

  then I think even during the season they've added more ships. Maybe because I

  don't remember. Maybe correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember the

  Klingon ships coming into view during the opening credits at the opening at the beginning
• 23:19
  of the season. Dude, nine times out of ten I skip intro,
• 23:22
  so I have I think there was a lot of stuff going on during episode
• 23:26
  one of the season, but I think during the season they started adding some
• 23:30
  ships coming in. Okay, so, but yeah, the episode I thought

  was amusing. I didn't think it was like great, but I think you're

  right. I think they're just setting stuff up. So we got to meet

  Peanut Hamper's dad, we did. Yes, apparently he's very sarcastic but very

  good, right right, So that was nice. It was kind of cute

  to see Jeffrey Combs's AI sort of be nervous in front of like the dad.

  Yeah, he clearly said, like, what are your intentions with my

  daughter to be overly hopeful? Right right? Impression. Yeah, I can

  lend you a droid. Yeah, he's got drones, just like we got

  drones. Lend you a droid. Yeah, yeah, it's great, it's

  great. Oh. I did like that Tindy and Boimler could escape at any

  time when they thought, you know, they were being kidnapped by the right,

  right, Yeah, we want to see what happens. So and then

  you know, uh, the end of the episode, Badgie, you know,
• 24:44
  let's talk about what happens to him. Yeah, Badgie becomes a god.

  Yeah, I mean he he is able to get his claws into every
• 24:56
  computer and spreads himself throughout the entire or Milky Way galaxy. And yeah,

  and then what happens to him He realizes that being bad is not good.

  Yeah, and he doesn't need to He sort of evolves around, you know,
• 25:15
  above that and uh, we saw that wave that it was supposed to
• 25:19
  be a visual reference of his program spreading out throughout the galaxy, and one
• 25:26
  of the things we saw a bunch of star bases. But we also saw
• 25:27
  Deface nine. Yeah, so that was kind of cool or tag nor,
• 25:33
  but since it wasn't tilted sideways, I tend to think it was Defase nine.

  That's right, that's right. So yeah, he said he would go

  like hang out with the Q Yeah, yeah, go out and hang out

  with the que continuum. And yeah, we saw got Googi around. Yep.

  He seems to be like he's going to be a new kind of permanent
