- 0:003 lifelong friends, 6 trusty balls and endless NFL ticks.
- 0:05Welcome to three guys 6 Balls NFL podcast.
- 0:08Welcome to episode 64 of three guys 6 balls NFL podcast.
- 0:11I'm your host Joel and I'm here with my two Co hosts Will and
- 0:14Avery. How you guys doing today?
- 0:16Did you guys enjoy your Memorial Day weekend?
- 0:19I was sick the whole weekend, the whole weekend throwing up.
- 0:22Me too really thing. Yeah, I got sick from my kids.
- 0:26I just barely recovered. I have kids.
- 0:28It's not a thing. Disagree.
- 0:30Firm just agreement here. I just don't get sick.
- 0:32You just tell your brain, well aren't you cool?
- 0:34That's what you do, no? No.
- 0:38You see your brain, you tell your brain, no, I'm not sick.
- 0:41And your body goes, oh, you're right, we're stronger than this.
- 0:44We don't get sick. You know, as much as that might
- 0:47be a joke, I did hear unironically that when it comes
- 0:51to hiccups, if you convince your brain and body that they're not
- 0:56real, that they stop. Like apparently it's some
- 0:59evolutionary thing that like humans like evolved past.
- 1:03If you just like literally like believe that they're not real
- 1:07and that you don't need to hiccup that like it'll stop.
- 1:10You heard that It's a meat suit. Our body's a meat suit
- 1:13controlled by our brain. If your brain tells your body
- 1:16it's not happening, then it's not happening.
- 1:19Yeah, it's literally just a bag of bag of, I don't think.
- 1:22That's how it works. With an electrical current.
- 1:25Pretty sure that's not how it works.
- 1:27You need stronger intestinal fortitude.
- 1:30I think you'll be fine, but you might have Vegemite.
- 1:32You eat. How do you?
- 1:33How does anything permeate? Your body.
- 1:35I haven't eaten Vegemite for years, OK.
- 1:38Well, there's the problem. Get back on that Vegemite train
- 1:43morning, noon and night. Or morning tea and night.
- 1:45Or whatever it is. Vegemite, Vegemite.
- 1:47That's the one. Morning, noon and night.
- 1:50That's the one. Yikes.
- 1:52Put your baked beans on your toes in propaganda.
- 1:58Well, Will, since you weren't sick, how was your weekend?
- 2:00You know, it was pretty good. Went over to a small rural town
- 2:03in Oregon. Like half of the towns in
- 2:05Oregon. At least half.
- 2:06It's probably more like 90% of the towns in Oregon.
- 2:10And there's a over in Two Rivers, there's a music festival
- 2:13that I helped my brother out in his food truck.
- 2:15We just hung out, sold tacos all day.
- 2:17Yes, me, this white has a brother actually wider than me
- 2:20is 50% owner of a Tamale truck actually.
- 2:24And he does make his sell tamales.
- 2:26Yeah. And so we did that all weekend
- 2:28and that was fun time. And so just hanging out with
- 2:29family and I wasn't my kids, hanging out with his kids,
- 2:33cousins. And so it's always does.
- 2:35That be. Fun now, Sam, the other brother.
- 2:38Not the one in the podcast. The one that doesn't care about
- 2:41sports. That's right.
- 2:42That's right. Well, I'm glad at least one of
- 2:45us enjoyed their weekend and wasn't sick, so good for you.
- 2:48Yeah, but anyways, we've got a good episode for you guys.
- 2:51Today. We're going to talk about some
- 2:52quarterback situations and what we would do if we were the GM or
- 2:55coach of that team. However, before we do that,
- 2:59right before we started this episode, we just got a
- 3:02notification about Packers running back Josh Jacobs being
- 3:05arrested for domestic violence charges.
- 3:09What do you guys think about that?
- 3:10Now he has not been charged anything yet, just arrested on.
- 3:19So the way the American government, Nope American
- 3:22judicial system works is innocent until proven guilty.
- 3:25Given professional athletes and their abilities to settle
- 3:30outside of courts, I imagine he suits up the Packers this year.
- 3:35I would imagine so. Having seen the Ray Rice video,
- 3:39I don't want to see this video. I don't need to see this.
- 3:43I just. Just didn't want to see it.
- 3:47Well, that Ray Rice video went viral back before viral was even
- 3:51a thing. Like that was everywhere.
- 3:53Him dragging that girl out of the elevator, I was like, good.
- 3:57Yeah, Hell yeah. Just crazy.
- 3:59I I have no interest in seeing this.
- 4:01I'm sure there's video of it because everything is on video
- 4:04nowadays. And I truly hope that the swift
- 4:08arm of the law handles this the most just way possible and we
- 4:11don't get another millionaire out there getting away with
- 4:16crimes they should not be committing of any Case, No.
- 4:20We will 100%. I feel 20272 game suspension
- 4:25coming on, three-game suspension Max, and then the NFL was done
- 4:29with it. Our hands are clean of this.
- 4:31Our hands are clean of this. Because we suspended him for
- 4:33three games and because he's a millionaire, he's good.
- 4:37That's exactly what's going to happen.
- 4:38He'll pillar Kobe and just change his number again and
- 4:41it'll be fine. I'm looking at it.
- 4:44Jeez. The video.
- 4:45Is he dating some model? No, I'm just looking at a few
- 4:48articles. I mean I but.
- 4:50Back to Spectre Real Sports. Sorry, real quick here.
- 4:52That leaves the Packers in a bit of a lurch for running back.
- 4:55Their backup is Chris Brooks, and behind that's Marshawn
- 4:58Lloyd. Yeah, but they don't have to
- 4:59worry about that till 2027. You're right, that's an extra
- 5:02problem. He'll be on the field this year
- 5:04and the Packers do an internal investigation.
- 5:08That'll take this entire season and the NFL will step in about
- 5:11WE 20, which is playoff time. I know there's no actual Week
- 5:1520. And then they will be like, we
- 5:16will, we will, it's playoff time.
- 5:18So we will rule on this in the offseason and by that point
- 5:21everyone will have forgotten. Yeah, just look at the Rushy
- 5:23Rice situation. That's kind of the guideline
- 5:25that's going to happen with this whole situation too, because the
- 5:28NFL is just going to do the exact same thing, exact same
- 5:31process. That's pretty much what's going
- 5:32to happen. Well, before we get to our
- 5:34actual topic, I do have a starter question for you guys,
- 5:36as I like to often have. So today's question is which
- 5:40division is the worst in the NFL?
- 5:44OK, Are we talking they're going to have the worst record, like
- 5:49like the worst overall record between the four teams next
- 5:52year? Let's just go based off of last
- 5:54year, so the current standings from last year.
- 5:56OK, but which division is the worst in the NFL?
- 5:59Oh well then probably the NFC South, AFC North or NFC South.
- 6:04Probably. Yeah, I can agree with that.
- 6:06Well, hold on, hold on. Hold on the FC South.
- 6:09Is actually. Surprisingly better.
- 6:11Are you counting the wins? Because that's cheating.
- 6:13Actually, I'm, I'm just, I'm just looking at, I'm looking at
- 6:16records right now from last year.
- 6:18Is that cheating? No.
- 6:19OK, so I'm not counting wins. So the NFC East only had one
- 6:23team that had a winning record. The NFC South had 0.
- 6:27Actually is actual 0. Yikes.
- 6:30Yes, that is true. Yes, and.
- 6:34I guess the NFC East was pretty bad too.
- 6:37I just remember the Steelers were the best team in the NAFC
- 6:40North and I didn't even think they were good.
- 6:42The Ravens sucked too so I just felt like the AFC North was
- 6:45rough. Bengals, Browns Yikes and the
- 6:48NFC South only because I'm a Bucs fan.
- 6:51I mean, the Panthers won that while trying their hardest not
- 6:55to. Yeah, they had a net -69 points,
- 6:59a -69 net points on this season. Oh.
- 7:02Geez. So what would you guys say is
- 7:04the answer to the question? Probably the NFC South.
- 7:09I think I have to agree. They didn't have the worst
- 7:12teams, the worst individual team, but as a, as a
- 7:16conglomerate, no, no one wanted to win that division.
- 7:19Everyone in that division went three and three inside the
- 7:22division. All of this.
- 7:23Is correct. That is correct.
- 7:26Yikes. So everyone says the NFC South
- 7:28is the worst division in the NFL because they didn't have a team
- 7:31with a winning record last year. But what they did have is 3
- 7:34teams with eight wins, and it combined thirty wins in that
- 7:37division, which is more than the AFC North at 29 wins and more
- 7:41than the NFC East at 27 wins. Did the NFC East have a team
- 7:45with a winning record? Yes, but they also had three
- 7:48teams with less than eight wins. Did the AFC North have a team
- 7:51with a winning record? Yes, but they also had two teams
- 7:53with less than eight wins and one of those teams is the
- 7:56Browns. Every team in the NFC South last
- 7:58year was three and three in division games, meaning they
- 8:00were all knocking each other off and fighting each other for that
- 8:03division. So I guess you can say that it's
- 8:054 bad teams fighting against each other, but at the same time
- 8:08people think the AFC West is awesome because they had the
- 8:11Broncos and Chargers win 11 plus games last season.
- 8:14But you know what they don't. Look at the fact that that
- 8:16division had two teams that went one and five in division games
- 8:19and the one win each of those teams got was against the other
- 8:23team that went one and five in the division.
- 8:25The Chiefs beat the Raiders and the Raiders beat Chiefs, so both
- 8:28the Broncos and Chargers got four wins against two really bad
- 8:31teams in that division. Now, the AFC West did have 34
- 8:35wins compared to the NFC South 30, but it's not like the AFC
- 8:38West was the NFC West last year. Out of eight divisions, the AFC
- 8:42West was actually the fifth best division, but people just
- 8:45elevated because they had two playoff teams.
- 8:47Having a team with a winning record and then having two or
- 8:50three really bad teams doesn't mean that your overall division
- 8:53is better. Does it look better on paper?
- 8:56Sure, but it doesn't mean that the division as a whole is
- 8:58better. I'm just tired of the NFC South
- 9:01slander because they were not the worst division in football
- 9:03last year. That title belongs to the NFC
- 9:05East, So the NFC East can suck the NFC South's balls.
- 9:09Sorry Dwayne. I know I didn't swear, but I
- 9:11feel like I owed you a sorry Dwayne on that one.
- 9:13Especially with me leaving Will's Ask Your Mom commenting
- 9:16from last week's episode. So he texted me about that I.
- 9:23Don't know, I I, I feel like, I mean.
- 9:27I mean, we question right Every. We named all of the worst ones.
- 9:30We did such a good job. I mean, if, if you're, if the
- 9:34slander you're talking about is that they're not the worst,
- 9:37they're the second to worst or at best the 3rd to worst.
- 9:41I mean. They're the 3rd to worst
- 9:43division. They are not the worst and they
- 9:45are not second worst. Everybody says the NFC South is
- 9:48the worst division and that is just not correct.
- 9:51Statistically, it is not. Correct.
- 9:52They are the losingest. They didn't have a single winner
- 9:56in that division. That is true whether the rest of
- 10:01it, but whether it was more bottom heavy than other
- 10:04divisions, no, that's true. There were worse teams in other
- 10:09parts of the league. So because one team in the NFC
- 10:12East was good, that means it's better than the NFC South?
- 10:14It means that team because. One team was good, the.
- 10:17NFC South, It means it was better than all of the other.
- 10:20Teams as a division as a whole. That's not better, but I mean,
- 10:24that's but but but that's my thing is if if we just have to
- 10:26like if it comes down to the definition of bad to define if
- 10:31it's the worst, it's like, well, compared to this definition, we
- 10:34are not the worst. We're the third worst.
- 10:37It's like, yeah, I don't know. I feel like anyone that's, I
- 10:41mean, we're all, we're all, we're not even fighting for
- 10:43first place here. We're just fighting for not
- 10:45last. I just feel like at that point
- 10:47everyone arguing about this online, it's like, all right
- 10:51guys. Like I think some of these
- 10:53teams. Are fighting for who's the best,
- 10:54not who's not the worst. Who's the We're not the worst,
- 10:57you're the worst. We're not.
- 10:58We're. The worst somebody's being
- 11:01overworked there with the NFC East drill.
- 11:03I think it's the fact that the Commanders didn't have Jayden
- 11:06Daniels. But you can't use injuries as an
- 11:08excuse for one team and not use it for another.
- 11:10Certainly I can't. This is an NFL.
- 11:12This is the way. No, no.
- 11:13It's like if you ask, I had this argument I had, I had this
- 11:17argument with the Seahawks fan on Instagram the other day about
- 11:20Emeki Ibuka. He was upset that I called him
- 11:23out for the Buccaneers beating the Seahawks.
- 11:25And he was like, whoa, the Seahawks didn't have Witherspoon
- 11:28and they didn't have this other guy.
- 11:30And I was like, the Buccaneers didn't have half their team.
- 11:32You can't use that as an excuse for the Seahawks losing to the
- 11:35Buccaneers when the Buccaneers probably had more overall
- 11:38injuries than the Seahawks did at that time in the NFL.
- 11:42You can't use the injury excuse for one team and not use it for
- 11:46another. You just can't do it.
- 11:47I mean, you can, but it's not a fair argument.
- 11:50So then let's flip the script here.
- 11:52If every if all 32 teams had every single starter and backup
- 11:57on their team healthy, I still would not take the NFC South
- 12:03over any other division like they would be.
- 12:05We're not playing on Madden with the injury mode turn off.
- 12:08Right. But that's what I'm saying is
- 12:10that if we're making the argument from who was the worst
- 12:12Division, I think if you have if you have all of the starters in
- 12:16the game and we're playing one, here's what the matter how much
- 12:19we're playing. I don't think the AFC North is
- 12:21worse than NFC South. I don't think if every starters
- 12:24and I don't think NFC East is worth in the NFC South.
- 12:28I, I think the NFC South because of the way the Saints and the
- 12:31Falcons and truly the Panthers have played consistently.
- 12:36I think on the average, those teams are just worse now.
- 12:40Last year, the Panthers played better than the rest of the NFC
- 12:42South. The Buccaneers were right there
- 12:43too. The Falcons were right there
- 12:44too. And call it whatever you want to
- 12:46call it, injury or coaching or whatever, But if if every
- 12:49starter is in for every team, I think the Buccaneers rise above
- 12:55everyone else in that division. But then you get an A this year
- 12:58NFCE scenario, but you've got one team that's 11 and six and
- 13:01nobody else can can get over 500.
- 13:04But at the same time, if that was the case, would the NFC West
- 13:08have won as many games if every single team had all their
- 13:12starters? No, probably not.
- 13:14So you. Could make that same argument
- 13:15for any team and any division. Right, I agree, but I'm I'm what
- 13:18I'm saying is if every if every team had every player available
- 13:23they have on their roster to them healthy in their this year
- 13:27prime, they will never play better this year than they are
- 13:30in this one game. I think on average the NFC
- 13:34South, the way those rosters are built are worse than any other
- 13:38division. I think the Buccaneers, sure.
- 13:41It's just, it's absolutely just. Hypothetical, but that's not a
- 13:43real situation because in the NFL you always have injuries,
- 13:46right? Every single team will have
- 13:47injuries every single year. I wish they wouldn't.
- 13:49We'd get a better product. But if I think if if you're
- 13:52asking me what I think is the worst division in football, I'm
- 13:55going to go NFC South because of the way the teams are built, the
- 13:57way the way the rosters are structured, injuries be damned.
- 14:00It's statistically. Wrong.
- 14:01I know. That's fine, I know, and I'm
- 14:05fine with that anyway. Any more to add there?
- 14:09We're we're, we're fighting over third worst.
- 14:14But it's not last if. If if someone says, well, you're
- 14:17all bad, no one can argue back. We're all bad.
- 14:21All right. Well, let's move on to our main
- 14:23topic for this episode. So again, what we're doing is
- 14:25talking about quarterback situations for several teams
- 14:27around the league and what we would do either long term or
- 14:30this season with that situation if we were the GM or coach of
- 14:34that team. And our first team up is the
- 14:36Pittsburgh Steelers. So if you guys want to get into
- 14:39this season specifically, you can, but I feel like this one is
- 14:41more of a long term situation. So Will we'll start with you.
- 14:44If you were the Pittsburgh Steelers, what would your long
- 14:47term plan be at quarterback? OK.
- 14:49I will answer this question, but first if you are we anywhere to
- 14:53get through all these teams today?
- 14:54We'll do as many as we can. OK, so if you're a fan of the
- 14:57Steelers, Vikings, Browns, Cardinals, Falcons, Dolphins,
- 14:59Jets and Raiders prepared to be pissed off because we're going
- 15:03to slander your team out the ass.
- 15:04Sorry, Dwayne, OK, if you're the Steelers, look you did a thing
- 15:10and you signed Aaron Rodgers for 222 and a half, $1,000,000 for
- 15:14this year. Great or well he's signed for
- 15:16that much. I'm so happy for you.
- 15:18He is not a long term solution and you don't like your long
- 15:21term solutions you because you keep talking about cutting Will
- 15:24Howard. He dropped it in the where'd he
- 15:26go? Excuse me?
- 15:27He's wrapped in the sixth round last year.
- 15:29You've got Mason Rudolph, who somehow is still in the league
- 15:32after hitting Miles Garrett in the head, but he but Miles
- 15:35Mason. Rudolph got hit in the head.
- 15:36He got hit in the head. You're right, you got hit in the
- 15:38head by Miles Gary. That's the wrong way.
- 15:40That's my bad. That's my bad.
- 15:41Still somehow in the league after that, I'm sure if Miles
- 15:44Gary hit me in the head of the helmet, I would die.
- 15:46So let's just go to show show how much of an athlete Mason
- 15:50Rudolph really is anyway. And then you drafted Drew Allard
- 15:54this year in the third round. None of these options, Mason
- 15:57Rudolph, Will Howard, No matter what I think about Will Howard,
- 16:00none of these options are like right now, next year, you are
- 16:04our starting quarterback. You have no real options this
- 16:07year. You're just riding with Rogers.
- 16:09The best you could do is hope that Tyler Murray shows up this
- 16:13year and you can steal him as an unrestricted free agent because
- 16:17he's on the contract here this year.
- 16:19Baker Mayfield, he's going to go back to Tampa Bay, I'm sure of
- 16:21it. Deshaun Watson's in a contract
- 16:23here, and you probably won't have to pay him near as much
- 16:26because he's a from the Browns. We'll talk about it.
- 16:30He was never proven. You don't want any.
- 16:32Part never proven guilty all right I'm not saying he's a good
- 16:34guy all I'm saying is he was never proven guilty.
- 16:37Another guy who just changed his number and moved on with life.
- 16:40But the, the quarterbacks coming off of out their contract years
- 16:43at the end of this upcoming season.
- 16:46Matt Jones is an option. You don't have a good options.
- 16:49And, and I, if you're trying to build a new franchise, drafting
- 16:52a first round quarterback early, because I don't think you're
- 16:55going to have an early pick. You're probably going to have a
- 16:58late teens pick because Rodgers will keep you in most games and
- 17:00you'll be right where you were last year.
- 17:02I think there were 2020 this year, 21 something like that
- 17:05this year. So I, I, I don't know what I
- 17:07would do I, I'm, I'm riding Rodgers out and then I'm as AGM,
- 17:11I'm retiring as well. Mike McCarthy, he's wiping his
- 17:13hands. But you know what?
- 17:15This is the next guy's problem. I, I, I don't know because,
- 17:18because you've got, you've got your, your young guys coming in.
- 17:20But but as we see what the Raiders doing this year, and
- 17:22we'll talk about them later, as of right now, they're not
- 17:25starting their number one pick, Mendoza.
- 17:28They're just not starting it. And that is the right way to do
- 17:31it. So you're working to bring in a
- 17:32veteran again. Oh, that man, this is worse than
- 17:35I thought. You lose.
- 17:36Good luck. Buckle up.
- 17:37You're in for a decade of disappointment.
- 17:39You've already been in a decade of disappointment ever since Big
- 17:42Ben left. But you're in for another one
- 17:45that's just not gonna be good. I agree with you Will.
- 17:47I have no idea what the long term plan is at quarterback for
- 17:50the Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger retired in
- 17:522021 and since then they've drafted Kenny Pickett, who
- 17:55shouldn't have been a first round pick.
- 17:56And the only reason he was drafted that high is because he
- 17:59did a cool fake slide in college.
- 18:00They brought in a wash up Russell Wilson for a year.
- 18:03They traded for Justin Fields who was there for one year.
- 18:05They drafted Will Howard last year.
- 18:07They drafted Drew out of this year.
- 18:09And right now they've got a 42 year old Aaron Rodgers who's
- 18:11going to lead them to another first round playoff loss at
- 18:13best. And then he's saying he's he's
- 18:15retiring at the end of the year. It's starting to feel a little
- 18:18bit like the Browns just bringing in quarterback after
- 18:20quarterback after quarterback and just staying in the same
- 18:22place. The difference is, is instead of
- 18:24being bad, the Steelers are just staying in this area where
- 18:27they're either right on the outside of the play offs or
- 18:29they're the worst team to make the play offs.
- 18:31And so they're not getting worse, but they're also not
- 18:34getting better. What are we doing here,
- 18:36Steelers? Nothing you've done has shown us
- 18:38you know what your long term plan is at quarterback.
- 18:41Also want to say that I'm very upset that the Steelers passed
- 18:43on Jackson Dart in last year's draft because if Jackson Dart
- 18:46ended up on the Steelers, there is a 100% chance I would be a
- 18:49Steelers fan right now. You know how easy it would have
- 18:52been to go from being a Cowboys fan to being a Steelers fan when
- 18:55my father-in-law and my wife are both Steelers fans and then on
- 18:58top of that they get Jackson Dart who was my favorite
- 19:01quarterback in that draft. I could have become a Steelers
- 19:04fan, Jackson Dart would have led the Steelers to the Super Bowl,
- 19:06and my wife and I could have made some Steelers Super Bowl
- 19:08babies together. But that dream was ruined by the
- 19:12Pittsburgh. Steelers, you still can.
- 19:17Anyways, I'm just mad about it. I just don't understand what the
- 19:20Steelers. Are doing.
- 19:21Cock blocked me and my wife. The Steelers never do it again.
- 19:26It was a Steelers. He like this message.
- 19:31I hate this. I hate Jack and Dart.
- 19:34Anyways, I don't know what their long term plan is.
- 19:36I don't think they even know what their long term plan is at
- 19:38this point. So hopefully Avery has some
- 19:40thoughts because I I got. They can't possibly know what
- 19:42their long term plan is, right? All right, hiring Mike McCarthy
- 19:46as their head coach. Look, I'm very pro.
- 19:49Mike McCarthy here. I'm very pro.
- 19:51Hire. Yeah, very progress.
- 19:53And I I said that that exact same thing when they hired him,
- 19:56but it's just not it. And Rogers is like he said, 42.
- 19:59You who the current free agent quarterback shots right now,
- 20:02you're left with Russell Wilson and Jimmy Garoppolo as your best
- 20:05available options. It's just wild to me.
- 20:07Russell Wilson wasn't. I think I saw a photo of him at
- 20:10the Met Gala. Dude, you're unemployed.
- 20:14What are you doing like? His wife isn't though, that's
- 20:17why he was there. I I know, but I think that just
- 20:20kind of shows you why he's unemployed.
- 20:22It's like, all right, dude, no team wants you.
- 20:25You can still play. And yet here you are dressing
- 20:29up, going to the Met Gala, dude, get to work, man.
- 20:34Like, I, I mean, I don't know what's going on with him.
- 20:38If that's just maybe that's kind of telling.
- 20:40Like, yeah, you married some celebrity.
- 20:42Like, maybe this is what you wanted.
- 20:45You just wanted to social climb a little bit, be the man for a
- 20:48bit, and now it's just not working for you.
- 20:50You don't really know how to put the work back in.
- 20:52I mean, I don't know. I think he's cooked.
- 20:55I think he's done. He made almost $316 million over
- 20:59his career just out of contracts, not counting
- 21:02endorsements and things like that.
- 21:03I hope he can just do live happy and just go be Mr. Unlimited
- 21:10somewhere else. He's Do you have any thoughts on
- 21:13Steelers? Yeah, I think Will Howard's The
- 21:15Future, and if not, definitely Drew Aller.
- 21:19Jeez, Drew Aller, I think Oregon broke him and that entire Penn
- 21:27State team. I mean, I know they lost to UCLA
- 21:30like the next week and then the entire rest of the Big 10 the
- 21:34rest of that season, but I really feel like Oregon broke
- 21:38that team's back. Like that was basically what
- 21:42that marked the end of Coach Franklin.
- 21:44I Drew Aller looked like a scared little boy after that.
- 21:49I mean that dude, I think he was he not like the top rated
- 21:53quarterback going into the season.
- 21:56I'm pretty sure he was top two at least, yeah.
- 21:58It wasn't Mendoza. It might have been who Dante
- 22:01Moore who going in this was. If Aller had gone into the draft
- 22:06the year before, he would have been a first round pick.
- 22:09No, no, no. Well, maybe I I I'm talking
- 22:11about I guess technically like pre season rankings going into
- 22:15the. Previous, I think you're right.
- 22:17I think Drew Aller was the top guy.
- 22:20Now I'm like trying to remember there might have been someone
- 22:23else. I'm looking at it right now it.
- 22:25Wasn't Mendoza? Definitely it wasn't Mendoza.
- 22:28No, it wasn't Mendoza. I know. 25 draft, right?
- 22:32Yeah. No 20.
- 22:34Maybe like back? 2026 draft. 25.
- 22:38I mean this is it would have been 25 pre season college.
- 22:43I mean I don't even know if you'll be able to find it
- 22:44because you'll have to find a mock draft from like 8 months
- 22:48ago or not a mock draft whatever.
- 22:50A preseason like Heisman hopeful, but they just keep
- 22:53updating those, so it's hard to like go back in time on those.
- 22:58OK, so I have this thing here it says pre spring quarterback
- 23:01rankings for all 68. Oh wait, this is 2026, this is
- 23:05not OK. Nevermind, nevermind.
- 23:08But anyway, Drew Aller was a top guy.
- 23:10And then, yeah, just just paper tiger.
- 23:14Dude, they just folded, folded so hard.
- 23:16But yeah, I I mean, hey, maybe he does a little better now.
- 23:20Probably not. I mean, Will Howard had a much
- 23:22better last season in college, won the national championship
- 23:26and he's still not, you know, really get anywhere.
- 23:28I feel like he's kind of one of those Alabama quarterbacks that
- 23:32like. Never.
- 23:34OK, I got something. Anything.
- 23:36Other than I got something here. Win a championship.
- 23:38What'd you get? I got something here.
- 23:40So this is ranking college football's 10 best quarterbacks
- 23:43in 2025. So this is from a website called
- 23:45College Football HQ on SI. So is.
- 23:48This going to be like wait, wait, let me let, let, let, let
- 23:51me guess. I think Carson Beck's going to
- 23:53be up there. John Mateer is going to be up
- 23:56there. John Mateer is not on this list.
- 24:02Whoa, I don't. Know no maybe.
- 24:07Maybe let me just. Trinidad drew our is ranked at
- 24:10#2. Oh.
- 24:12Number one was Cade Club. Cade Club Nick?
- 24:14That's right. Clemson boy.
- 24:17Yep, that's right. And then Garrett Nosmeyer was #3
- 24:20#4 was Carson Beck. Number 5 was Arch Manning.
- 24:24That's right. That's right, Cade.
- 24:27I thought John Matier was higher.
- 24:28Interesting. Dang, he's not.
- 24:30He's not draft eligible. Chambliss is draft eligible.
- 24:34He was draft eligible in 2021 and.
- 24:38Then he's sued to try to go back to college.
- 24:41He's still got another year she's.
- 24:44All right. Do you guys have any more
- 24:45thoughts on the Steelers before we move on?
- 24:48Just buckle up is all I'm saying all.
- 24:50Right. So our next team up is the
- 24:51Minnesota Vikings. And for this one, I'd like to
- 24:53start off with a question. Do you think the Vikings signing
- 24:56Kyler Murray shows more that they want to challenge JJ
- 24:59McCarthy or that they don't believe in him?
- 25:01Oh, unless believing in him means we only need you, no
- 25:06backup, and everything will be fine, then no, I don't think
- 25:09they believe in him. I think everything That that.
- 25:15What's his name? Jerry O'Connell.
- 25:18What's the coach's name? What?
- 25:20Kevin. Kevin O'Connell.
- 25:22Kevin O'Connell, No. You got it, Jerry McGuire.
- 25:28Show me the money. Jerry O'connell's that that
- 25:32actor from Stand by Me. No, I, I mean, ever since he's
- 25:37been the coach that I mean, if anything, I mean, they've always
- 25:40needed more depth at quarterback.
- 25:42Quarterbacks are dropping like flies over there.
- 25:45So I think no matter what, like you need to have a contingency.
- 25:47But also, I don't think anybody at this point, remember last was
- 25:51at the beginning of last season where like the coaching staff
- 25:55had the media convinced or vice versa that that 9 was like the
- 26:01future of Minnesota. Like, oh, we have full
- 26:05confidence that this boy is going to lead us to the promised
- 26:07land. And like I think at this point
- 26:09in a year's time. Like that word now?
- 26:12What? Boy which?
- 26:15Boy. Careful, careful.
- 26:17If anything I'll be, I'll be vindicated like like well was.
- 26:20Plus he's white, so it's fine. It wasn't that.
- 26:23The whole issue is that he wasn't.
- 26:25Is that the guy that we were talking?
- 26:26About no, that's the one, that's the one.
- 26:28That's the one. Full time pick, Don't don't
- 26:30forget it. Full time pick.
- 26:31Take it after Drowler, by the way.
- 26:33Yeah, yeah. No, but I, I, I just think like,
- 26:39no, I don't think anyone has is that high on 9 right now.
- 26:42I don't think I will to be fair, though to be fair, I don't think
- 26:46that it's, I don't think enough time has passed where enough
- 26:50games have passed to call him a bust yet.
- 26:52I think we're going to watch this horse get beaten to death
- 26:56real slow before we all unanimously say like, I think we
- 27:00knew this like a couple years ago.
- 27:02But yeah, I think Kyler Murray will start.
- 27:04And I think the only reason 9 whatever start or touch the
- 27:09field is because Murray can't play.
- 27:11Either he gets hurt or it just really sucks even worse.
- 27:15But I, I think this is, I think this is Murray's team at this
- 27:18point. Something else caught me off
- 27:19guard here. Do you know when Caleb Banks is
- 27:22supposed to be coming back? They expect to be full cleared
- 27:24for participation in June, having foot surgery in March,
- 27:28back in June. Weird how that quickly that
- 27:30goes. You know, that's not that's not
- 27:33the point here. We're talking about 9 versus
- 27:36Kyler Murray. Look, we're talking about the
- 27:37teams in a rough spot right now. And we could have put the Rams
- 27:41on this list, right? Like that could have been up
- 27:44there because after after they after Stafford retires, what are
- 27:47they going to do? That's not what we're doing
- 27:49here. We're talking about the Vikings.
- 27:51And I was very loud about how much I think JJ McCarthy is bad
- 27:56at football. And, and guess what?
- 27:58I was right. I don't like to say it like
- 28:00that, but I was not wrong. We put that way.
- 28:03And then they brought Kyler Murray in, who also is not good.
- 28:08Isn't this the guy who they had to put in his contract?
- 28:11You're only allowed to play so many video games a week or a day
- 28:15or something like that. Is that real?
- 28:17He's the same guy. Is that true?
- 28:19And there's no, no, just go ahead and just give that a quick
- 28:23Google search. I'm 90% on this one.
- 28:25I don't give it to full hundo P What about 90% on this one?
- 28:28He was part of the phase clan, which if you're a Call of Duty
- 28:33person, it's like a big yeah, I see the recognition.
- 28:36It's a big thing. It's not a Call of Duty thing,
- 28:38that's a video game thing in general.
- 28:40Yeah, it's a full thing, but I believe he was a Call of Duty
- 28:42guy to where he wasn't watching game film and wasn't prepping
- 28:46for games. And the right games.
- 28:49Alleged alleged that they would give him tablets with no videos
- 28:54loaded on it to take home and then when he came back and
- 28:59didn't or didn't say hey where's this video where the videos at
- 29:02where am I supposed to be watching?
- 29:04They just knew he wasn't watching game film which which
- 29:07is a real gotcha moment for your starting quarterback.
- 29:09He drafted in the first round, but.
- 29:11I guess they removed that in 2022 by the way.
- 29:15But it was there, yeah. It was there, yes.
- 29:19OK, thank you. Perfect.
- 29:20Appreciate that. Now 20/22 was 4 full years ago
- 29:25and part per our Gregorian calendar.
- 29:27So lots of change, lots of change by then.
- 29:30He's still very short. He's still not great at throwing
- 29:32the football. He's fine.
- 29:34But what we're really mad about and by me by we are really mad,
- 29:38what I'm really mad about is we're wasting one of the top
- 29:41three best wide receivers in the NFL were just wasting their
- 29:44career throwing all these just shit quarterbacks.
- 29:47Sorry, Dwayne, I don't know how else to say this at him.
- 29:50No one can throw Justin Jefferson the ball and he's
- 29:52still doing amazing work and so it.
- 29:55Doesn't really matter if they have JJ McCarthy.
- 29:58Well, you're right and nobody can.
- 30:00They just, he's just doing what he can And.
- 30:02And I, I think they should trade.
- 30:06I don't know. I, I don't know, man.
- 30:08This is I, I thought this was going to be an easier topic to
- 30:10talk about. I, I really prep work and all
- 30:13this stuff. And this is a terrible topic to
- 30:15talk about because after Kyler Murray, you've got McCarthy and
- 30:18you've got Carson Wentz and then Max Brosmer.
- 30:22Rose. What?
- 30:23Yeah. I hardly know her, right?
- 30:25I don't actually know her. I just.
- 30:26Correct. I just think Brosmer sounds
- 30:28cooler. I think Kyler Murray is going to
- 30:33do well. I don't.
- 30:35It's Minnesota. I I think.
- 30:36Put it on the spreadsheet. Put it on the spreadsheet.
- 30:38He's best available. He's best available, please.
- 30:40Explain for the socials. Please explain for the socials.
- 30:44I think Kyler Murray is going to do, I want to say fantastic, but
- 30:50better than they did last season and much better than he did in
- 30:54Arizona. I think that he's going to be a
- 30:57lot better than JJ McCarthy. And I think this is going to
- 31:01breathe new life into Kyler Murray's career, at least a lot
- 31:05more life than he's got in it right now.
- 31:07Clip it. I don't disagree with the way
- 31:10you said the words you said. Now you can never say Kyler
- 31:14Murray's going to be good. I.
- 31:17Didn't say he's going to be fantastic.
- 31:18I didn't say I, I, I, I think, I don't think he's going to be Sam
- 31:22Darnold on the Seahawks, but I don't think he's going to be
- 31:25much worse. I don't think he's going to be
- 31:28much worse than Sam Arnold on the Seahawks.
- 31:32I think the best thing that Kyler Murray has going for him
- 31:35now versus in Arizona is that they have a legitimate run game
- 31:39that can stay healthy. Not that the card was never a
- 31:41legitimate run game. We just couldn't stay healthy.
- 31:44And additionally, he has a defense since that is that.
- 31:47I mean, the defense is the only reason they want to eat any game
- 31:49slash. Excuse me.
- 31:51And so the pressure will be taken off of Kyler Murray.
- 31:54And it's very possible that he will excel in that.
- 31:57And Kevin O'Connell is a proven quarterback whisperer.
- 31:59We've seen him multiple Times Now.
- 32:01I think you have a good point. He will be better than he was in
- 32:05Arizona. I don't think he's going to be
- 32:07fantastic. I think they are.
- 32:11They are fighting for a playoff spot, maybe near double digit
- 32:15wins, but that is maybe I. I don't know if Kyler Murray's a
- 32:21long term answer. He's not, but the thing that
- 32:23really sucks for the Vikings with their quarterback situation
- 32:26is they have a defense and a really solid overall team to win
- 32:29now, but they just don't have a quarterback.
- 32:32With as bad as JJ McCarthy was last year and with them having
- 32:35three different starting quarterbacks, they still won
- 32:37nine games last season. So the Vikings actually have a
- 32:39really good team, but they just don't have a guy at the position
- 32:42that you have to have to win game.
- 32:44So if they can get just an average season out of Kyler
- 32:47Murray, I think this is a playoff team because their
- 32:50overall team is actually really, really good.
- 32:53Maybe they may come mid season trade for like Deshaun Watson.
- 32:58I mean, I, I know I keep bringing him up.
- 33:00He's not talking about that guy. Next year, next year is his last
- 33:03year in his contract. So you're not trading away a
- 33:06lot. Maybe Matt Jones here's that's a
- 33:08better name. Maybe they trade mid season for
- 33:10Matt Jones, who next year is his final year of his or is it this
- 33:15year, this final year of his contract?
- 33:16Excuse me. And so you're you're basically
- 33:18borrowing a player. But I think Matt Jones do very
- 33:21well there. I think he's not getting the
- 33:23credit he deserves currently and didn't in New England either.
- 33:27I would not be surprised if some of these backups that are on
- 33:29expiring contracts start moving around a lot more this year than
- 33:33we've seen in the past. Well apparently it's OK to give
- 33:35a backup who's played like 4 games 67 and a half million
- 33:39dollars now. Malik Willis got a three-year 67
- 33:42and a half $1,000,000 contract for doing nothing.
- 33:44He started six games his entire career and he got paid that much
- 33:47money. Deshaun Watson has done less for
- 33:52so much more. I would love to be Deshaun
- 33:55Watson right now. I see him on the bench and at
- 33:57first I was like, that poor guy. And I'm like no.
- 33:59Yeah, just think of all those massages.
- 34:00That guy has to. That guy has to wipe the smug
- 34:03smile off his face all the time. He's he knows he's on camera.
- 34:07He's like I cannot be caught grinning right now.
- 34:11That's let's do a Matt Flynn thing right?
- 34:14Matt Flynn was Aaron Rodgers backup, came in, played for like
- 34:174 games, and he's had a big contract with the Seahawks in
- 34:20the same year they dropped to Russell Wilson.
- 34:22I mean, you can, yeah. Brian Hoyer, Jimmy Garoppolo,
- 34:25Matt Castle, go through Tom Brady's backups who played half
- 34:29a game like, oh, they must be good at football.
- 34:32This is what happens. Anyways, let's move on to our
- 34:37next team so Will can officially talk about Deshaun Watson and
- 34:40how good he is. This is the Cleveland Browns.
- 34:43So I have a question to start this one off for you guys, and
- 34:46it's a pretty obvious question, but who do you think should be
- 34:48the starting quarterback for the Browns?
- 34:50Deshaun Watson, What are we going to say here?
- 34:53Do I think he's a good person? No.
- 34:56Do I think he should be in the league?
- 34:58Questionable. He never actually was proven
- 35:00guilty. He settled outside of court.
- 35:02So like, what? What am I supposed to say here?
- 35:04Dude's a freak, man, Dude's a freak.
- 35:06Dude is a freak. He's getting paid like it.
- 35:08And he paid like it so. Go out there and football, dude.
- 35:13It's about time. If he can play like he played
- 35:16his last couple years in in Houston, the Browns are going to
- 35:19be a dangerous team in the North.
- 35:21If he can, it's not happening. If he can, it's not happening.
- 35:24It's not happening. If I'm the Browns, I'm not
- 35:26starting Deshaun Watson. I know they.
- 35:28Can't trade him. But if it were me, I'd want
- 35:31nothing to do with that guy. I don't want him in the locker
- 35:33room. I don't want him on the field.
- 35:35I just want to be done. I would tell Deshaun Watson look
- 35:39we owe you $46 million guaranteed, just don't show up.
- 35:43I will pay you $46,000,000 to be as far away from here as you can
- 35:47be. If I'm the Browns, I want as
- 35:49little to do with Deshaun Watson as possible because it's a waste
- 35:52of time to have in there. If the Browns are holding out
- 35:54hope that they can get the Texans version of Deshaun
- 35:57Watson, that is a big mistake because he's not the same player
- 36:00he was and that player isn't coming back.
- 36:02If it were me, I would start Shooter Sanders because he only
- 36:06started seven games last year and you truly can't judge a
- 36:08rookie based on 7 starts. And if you want to bounce around
- 36:12Queen Shooter Sanders, Dylan Gabriel and Taylor Green, that's
- 36:14fine with me. Explore the young talent you
- 36:16have at quarterback and see what happens.
- 36:18Anything is better than having Deshaun Watson as your starting.
- 36:21Quarterback. Anything is better than that.
- 36:24Defend that take. Defend that take.
- 36:26What has Deshaun Watson done? Were we talking recently or
- 36:29like, like in his career? Like when he's hurt or.
- 36:32Recently. What is he?
- 36:33Why would you pay this man $40 million to stay away?
- 36:37Why don't we pay? Why don't we pay just?
- 36:40Why don't we the team? More than Chador Sanders, I'd
- 36:43pay him $40 million to stay away.
- 36:47Didn't he have the statistically like the worst season ever last
- 36:50year? And we're like, maybe he'll be
- 36:52the guy? What?
- 36:56I'm not saying soon as the last is the guy.
- 36:59No, you're, you're paying the man.
- 37:01No, dude, you get your Sean Watson isn't the guy.
- 37:04You get your swampy ass out there and you.
- 37:05Having Deshaun. Watson.
- 37:06Sorry, Dave, having Deshaun Watson as your starting
- 37:08quarterback is a waste of time. It's a waste of time.
- 37:11In the four years he was in Houston, he threw for almost
- 37:1613,000 passing yards, 85 touchdowns to 28 interceptions.
- 37:20To Joel's credit, that ended six years ago.
- 37:24Sure. No, no, I'm not saying, I'm not
- 37:27saying he is the same guy. I, I'm not at all.
- 37:29Is he the same guy? He's older, he's more mature,
- 37:33hopefully and older for sure, more for sure.
- 37:36Hopefully having the having lived this life experience, I
- 37:39hope that he is a more mature man out of it.
- 37:42He was suspended, served as noble.
- 37:45Now we're moving on. And I just think that he is
- 37:49probably the best option and as a as a ball thrower, no pun
- 37:53intended, that the Browns have. And if your goal as a coach or
- 37:56GM, which we are playing the part of right now is to win
- 38:00football games, then I want to put the most experienced, best
- 38:04player I possibly can on the field, specifically in the
- 38:09position I need to lead my team. Now.
- 38:11I don't need Deshaun Watson to be the rally around me guy.
- 38:16Hey, I'll sit in the middle and you circle around me.
- 38:19He's lived that life. That was a Houston life he was
- 38:21living. Everyone was just circle around
- 38:23him it up. That's not what we're doing
- 38:26anymore. We are, we are playing football
- 38:30and we are we are moving forward.
- 38:36And you didn't answer. I mean the Browns.
- 38:40I actually didn't hear your question.
- 38:42What? Were they massaging in that
- 38:44circle? Well, to begin with, his actual.
- 38:49Bank account. His bank account.
- 38:51And in the end, with his singular muscle, any of whom
- 38:57even in 2023, he went five and one with the Browns before he
- 39:01got hurt at 2024, he went one and six, but still in seven
- 39:05games threw for over 1000 yards. I just the Browns have not been
- 39:10the definition of good football for I mean, this is baser was
- 39:15there really and and so that's not to even have an opportunity
- 39:20to get back to that. I think you have to start to
- 39:22start Deshaun Watson and the fans we damned.
- 39:25It is what it is. You want us to win football
- 39:28games or do you want the TikTok meme out there?
- 39:31We can throw the lefty from Morgan out there if you want
- 39:33because he was good. We can throw the mean guy out
- 39:36there if you want that way we can hard for our farm aura if we
- 39:41want to do that. Throw your watch up, buddy.
- 39:43That's so cool. What or do you want to win
- 39:46football? Games.
- 39:47I got to stop you. So you said in seven games in
- 39:502024, Deshaun Watson threw for over 1000 yards and you tried to
- 39:54make that sound good. If not, double that.
- 39:57If you double that to 14 games, he threw for just under 1200
- 40:02yards. If you double that, it is 2400
- 40:05yards in 14 games. That is not good.
- 40:08But who was actually 24? Who was on the Browns in 24?
- 40:12Who's on the Browns ever? The problem was he was going.
- 40:15So when Jameis Winston played, he played twelve games and threw
- 40:20for what, 2100 yards and 12 games?
- 40:24No one was throwing anything. Nobody was doing good in the
- 40:26Browns that year. It's the Browns, right?
- 40:28At the end of the day, who cares?
- 40:31Deshaun Watson is the best quarterback on the team and a.
- 40:34100% a hundred. Percent should should at least
- 40:38start all of the games that he can physically.
- 40:41I think the only reason Chador has talked about is because of
- 40:44who he is. If you replaced his name with
- 40:47any other like low drafted quarterback and after he
- 40:54performs that well last season gone, he's done.
- 40:58Everyone's like, is it going to be Deshawn or is it going to be
- 41:01Chador, dude? I mean, unless Dion comes in and
- 41:06like threatens the coach or the GM or pays them some of that
- 41:09Affleck money, like there's no way.
- 41:11There's no way Shidor is like coming back.
- 41:17We can move on. All right, let's move on to our
- 41:19next team, which is the Arizona Cardinals.
- 41:21And this is interesting because they're starting quarterback.
- 41:23Jacoby Brissette is holding out for a new contract right now as
- 41:27he seeks starting quarterback money.
- 41:29But if I'm the Arizona Cardinals, there's no way I'm
- 41:32giving Jacoby Bessette a pay raise.
- 41:34Jacoby Bessette started 12 games for the Cardinals last year and
- 41:37went one and 11 in those games. You don't get to go 1:00 and
- 41:4011:00 as the starter and then ask for pay raise.
- 41:43You don't get to do that. Jacoby Bessette had a nice
- 41:46season last year statistically, but when it came down to it, he
- 41:49just wasn't good enough to get the job done.
- 41:51And I know what Will's going to say.
- 41:53Sure, you can say, well, the defense was really bad, so of
- 41:56course they didn't win. But you know how many points the
- 41:58Cardinals average with percent as their starter?
- 42:0021 points. Which would have been good
- 42:02enough to be the 22nd ranked offense.
- 42:04That's not good. Now the difference did give up
- 42:07an average of 32.6 points in those. 12 better than third
- 42:10worst. And asking him to score 33
- 42:13points per game is too much to ask.
- 42:15But 21 points per game is not good enough.
- 42:18If he had averaged 25 points per game, then I think it'd be fair
- 42:21for him to ask for a raise because that would have been
- 42:23good enough to be the 11th ranked scoring offense.
- 42:25And four points per game does make a huge difference in the
- 42:28NFL despite the number not looking that much different. 4
- 42:31points a game is a huge difference in the NFL.
- 42:34So if I'm the Cardinals, I'm looking at percent and saying
- 42:37you didn't do good enough to deserve starter level money.
- 42:39We've got this young guy we just use a third round pick on and
- 42:42Carson Beck. So we're just going to play him
- 42:44and see where it takes us. I bet we can win at least one
- 42:47game with him at quarterback 2. I'm not paying you Kobe percent
- 42:50if I'm the Cardinals. Five of those losses, five of
- 42:53those losses were one score games where I can almost
- 42:57guarantee I have not looked at the footage, I have not gone
- 42:59back and watched. I can almost guarantee four of
- 43:02the five, if not all five of them, the Cardinals scored late
- 43:05in the game and then their defense couldn't stop a wet
- 43:08paper bag. They couldn't do anything.
- 43:12That defense was abysmal. And of course, you can't score
- 43:15when it gets late in the game and you're down 27 to 40, they
- 43:21know you're going to throw the football.
- 43:23And the Cardinals didn't have a good enough offense to support
- 43:26the Peyton Manning style. You know, we're throwing it.
- 43:29We're going to throw it anyway and do well.
- 43:30The Cardinals did not have the type of offense to support that.
- 43:34You know what we're doing? We're doing it anyway and doing
- 43:36it successfully. I think Jacoby Brissette is
- 43:39underrated. I think the Cardinals are doing
- 43:41him a disservice. I think he should be holding out
- 43:44to an extent. You, you start to put the
- 43:45destiny of your team that you're under contract for.
- 43:47That's not out on it. But I, I don't disagree with him
- 43:51saying, hey, you want me to start on this team?
- 43:53You actively choose not to make our team better.
- 43:56They drafted. Oh good golly.
- 43:58Can I throw another wrinkle in? Two defensive players last year.
- 44:02They drafted 2 defensive players in the draft.
- 44:04Their defence is abysmal. You may throw a wrinkle in.
- 44:07I'm going to throw another wrinkle in.
- 44:09If the Cardinals are taking for a quarterback in 2027, why pay a
- 44:13guy who thinks that he is a starter level quarterback?
- 44:17Why pay him if you're just going to draft another quarterback
- 44:20next year? There's no reason to do that.
- 44:22I don't disagree with that specifically.
- 44:24Or does that take? Specific.
- 44:27Percents specifically, right? I have an ocean size problem
- 44:31with it though. Jacoby Percents, 30, 35 years
- 44:38old this year. We're seeing the model.
- 44:41He's 34 right now. He's 35 this year.
- 44:44Is he? I'm pretty sure he's not.
- 44:46Oh, no, he he's 33 now. He turns 34 in December.
- 44:51That's my bad. You know what?
- 44:53December 11th. Oh, he's a year younger?
- 44:55OK, actually does. Everything.
- 44:58Yeah. Yeah, it does.
- 44:59Not really. Sign him to sign him to a
- 45:03three-year deal. Get your draft your guy in the
- 45:06first round sitting behind Bersette who is a ball thrower.
- 45:10That dude slings the rock pretty well.
- 45:12Have him learn behind Bersette for a few years and then move on
- 45:15from Bersette. Do what the Rams are doing.
- 45:18Do what the Packers did with Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love.
- 45:22You draft a guy high, have him sit behind somebody who's above
- 45:25average. And I don't know if you could be
- 45:26besides actually above average or not.
- 45:27And I just, I think you pay the man.
- 45:31If you want to win more games than you won last year, you pay
- 45:33the man. I think the Cardinals are in an
- 45:36interesting spot. I think they're in a very cool
- 45:38spot. They have very, very little to
- 45:41lose. And I think if you're Jacoby
- 45:43percent, I think you should be asking for starting quarterback
- 45:48money. But if I was the Cardinals,
- 45:51anytime his agent reaches out, I would just kind of laugh and
- 45:55then just ignore it. I would just act like I don't.
- 45:58I do not care, dude. Dude, there's not many more
- 46:01games we can lose more than last year.
- 46:03Like dude, you're Jacoby Brissett.
- 46:06No one cares dude. I will.
- 46:08Carson back went to the championship game last year.
- 46:11Like I'll let him. I know he's right now chomping
- 46:13at the bit to play. If I were you I would be
- 46:16terrified that this Skeletor looking white boy is out here
- 46:19just craving every additional Rep he gets while you're while
- 46:24you're her chopped old ass is over here asking for starting
- 46:28quarterback money. Dude in Arizona, dude, like
- 46:32honestly every time he reaches out saying like I want more
- 46:35money, just freeze him out. It's like dude, your entire team
- 46:39is out here playing and you're sitting out here at 33 years old
- 46:44asking for just starting job money.
- 46:47Dude, the only reason you're asking for that is because no
- 46:51one else around is a starting quarterback.
- 46:53You're not a starting quarterback.
- 46:54You play in Arizona, dude. Get out on that field and earn
- 46:58some money. I just, I, I, I think both.
- 47:01I think Arizona should ignore it.
- 47:03I think Jacoby Brazette should ask for it.
- 47:05And I think Carson Beck is foaming at the mouth right now
- 47:09that he has this amazing opportunity that's fallen in his
- 47:13lap. What was the third round pick?
- 47:16He has the clear cut opportunity to be the starter in Arizona
- 47:20dude. He's third string currently by
- 47:22the way. Who Carson?
- 47:25Yeah, yeah, but Gardner Minshew, second string.
- 47:29Oh, yeah, no, yeah. Everything I said still stands
- 47:31100%. Yeah, yeah, sure.
- 47:33The only thing but the way it's currently listed is is Gardner
- 47:36Minshew. You know he's wearing those
- 47:38shorts across Arizona right now. Yeah, they're getting swampy and
- 47:44they. Just signed from Kansas City
- 47:46this this offseason. Gardner mentioned did a lot over
- 47:49there in Kansas City. I just think, I just think
- 47:50everything over there is going great.
- 47:53I think it's super entertaining. I think that Jacoby is doing
- 47:57exactly what he should do and I think Arizona is right for just
- 48:00kind of laughing at him and ignoring it.
- 48:02It's like, dude, we're nothing here.
- 48:03Dude. We don't have to pay any of you
- 48:05guys. Like who's this whole team is
- 48:07getting cleaned out anyway? That's all I got.
- 48:12All right, we've probably got time for one more team.
- 48:15You guys have a team you would prefer to talk about as our last
- 48:17team here, we got the Falcons, The Jets, the Raiders and the
- 48:21Dolphins. Let's talk about the Raiders.
- 48:24OK, so we'll do the Las Vegas Raiders as our last team.
- 48:27And I wouldn't say there's much of A quarterback controversy
- 48:30here because the Raiders have made it pretty clear what their
- 48:32plan is. But Will, if you were the
- 48:34Raiders, what would you do with their current quarterback
- 48:37situation? I start Kirk Cousins the entire
- 48:42year. I don't let Mendoza get a single
- 48:48look. I just seem to sound terrible,
- 48:49but I don't let him get a single first team snap in practice.
- 48:52He doesn't get a single first team snap in warmups.
- 48:55He doesn't get a single first team snap in the game.
- 48:58He sits his behind on the bench all season.
- 49:04He holds that clipboard. He takes all the notes.
- 49:07He learns all of the things he learns.
- 49:11Well, new head coach, His name. What's his?
- 49:14What's on your head coach's name?
- 49:15Kubiak. Yeah.
- 49:15Clint Kubiak. Yeah.
- 49:17Kubiak. Yeah.
- 49:18He earns Kubiak's entire offense from the sideline this whole
- 49:21first year. And then they take Kirk Cousins
- 49:26and they trade his ass. Sorry, Dwayne.
- 49:28They get him out of there. Hey, to who to?
- 49:31Who a retirement home? He'll be 16 years in the league.
- 49:41Arizona would take him. They pay him starting money.
- 49:50Kirk Cousins has a way of swindling teams into paying him
- 49:52like the the top quarterback in the league.
- 49:55Hey, let me ask, let me ask. For two years.
- 49:59Real quick, if Kirk Cousins and what's his name, Jacoby Berset
- 50:04switch teams, who would start in Las Vegas?
- 50:07I think you start, Mendoza. OK OK, so if the guy that
- 50:11shouldn't even touch the freaking ball this year would
- 50:15start over the guy that's asking and thinks he's entitled to
- 50:18starting quarterback money in in Las Vegas, a team that got the
- 50:23first pick, if that guy won't even play, dude cooked.
- 50:30I guess not. I.
- 50:31I stand by what I said though. I think that's, I mean it's fit,
- 50:36right? The ball is just lower down
- 50:37South, it's just lower. You you don't care much for
- 50:41something. You don't care about Bessette.
- 50:43But he's not a full on proven starter in the league, no.
- 50:47And. And so that's that's why that's.
- 50:50Only like $4 million. That's the difference to me,
- 50:52yeah. I agree with Will with what he
- 50:56said about Las Vegas. The other thing you can do.
- 50:58Cousin starting. Is you wait until you get close
- 51:01to the trade deadline and if Mendoza has made enough progress
- 51:06where you think he can be OK, I think this is the wrong move.
- 51:09But there are teams that are going to be chomping at the bit
- 51:13to get a veteran quarterback in because Malik Willis didn't work
- 51:16out Aaron Rodgers toys other Achilles or because Jacoby
- 51:20Brissett is still holding out and Carson Beck is terrible.
- 51:23And like there's just or Kyler Murray and both 9 both 1:00 and
- 51:299:00 up there in Minnesota. You know what, let's bring back
- 51:32Coco chains back to to Minnesota or Jane Daniels gets hurt again.
- 51:37Let's bring him back to Washington.
- 51:39Let's get this boy's been ever, pardon my language.
- 51:42This individual has been all over the NFL.
- 51:47Send him anywhere. Maybe, maybe recovery doesn't go
- 51:51well for Bo Nicks and he goes up to Denver because we know
- 51:54students. Get that, he got to hurt.
- 51:56That Jeez, yes. Forget about that.
- 52:01I just, yeah, last last week we were joking with Lincoln that
- 52:05Week 1 we're going to have Jared Stidham versus.
- 52:09I remember who the Chiefs backup is now.
- 52:11Oh, shoot, I can't. Justin Fields.
- 52:13That's right. Jared Stidham, Justin versus
- 52:15Justin Fields, Monday Night Football.
- 52:19Is Bonex not going to be back by the beginning of the season?
- 52:22Who knows? Sometimes injuries take 15
- 52:25months to recover from. Sometimes they take three.
- 52:28We don't know that recovery. It's not.
- 52:29It's not our troops, it's their troops.
- 52:35All right, well, if you guys don't have anything else to add,
- 52:38we'll go ahead and wrap up this episode.
- 52:40At this point, nothing productive.
- 52:43OK, all right. Well, as always, don't forget to
- 52:47keep your balls played with. We'll see you next time.
- 52:49Bye now y'all. Also, Mark Davis's haircut still
- 52:51sucks.
