- 0:51Speaker 4: We got a special guest in here, my guy La
- 0:53Speaker 4: Legend east side Kboy in the building.
- 0:55Speaker 5: We'll sell it. What up, bro?
- 0:56Speaker 3: What's up?
- 0:57Speaker 5: Bro? When I'm chilling?
- 0:58Speaker 3: Hey?
- 0:59Speaker 4: First of all, how wasn't when Kendrick shouted you out
- 1:02Speaker 4: on the damn Grammy stage.
- 1:03Speaker 6: Bro, I was cracking. I was surprised. I wasn't. I
- 1:06Speaker 6: wasn't even watching the Grammys. I was out eating with
- 1:08Speaker 6: my family.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Your phone had to be going crazy.
- 1:10Speaker 6: It was going crazy crazy. I thought, you know, we
- 1:12Speaker 6: got PTSD. I thought something happened.
- 1:14Speaker 3: To somebody crazy. You're like, oh shit.
- 1:17Speaker 6: Especially the people was calling, like you know what I mean.
- 1:20Speaker 6: My mother in law, she barely likes me. She was
- 1:23Speaker 6: calling back to back to back to back. So it
- 1:25Speaker 6: really scared me that my mom was called. I said, okay,
- 1:27Speaker 6: let me answer. Something happened. But would you first meet
- 1:31Speaker 6: Kendrick Man Bro had to be like five, Damn yep,
- 1:37Speaker 6: because I got with Glasses right out. I'm gonna tell
- 1:42Speaker 6: my age, but like four, I got with g like
- 1:45Speaker 6: O four and he was already with with Game and
- 1:47Speaker 6: Black Wall Street at that particular time, and then the
- 1:51Speaker 6: alliance with TD was already there. So once I came
- 1:53Speaker 6: in under the Blue Division, all the TD boys became
- 1:56Speaker 6: my boys. And it's just a real watch and die
- 2:00Speaker 6: because he was just the one in the back, always rapping.
- 2:04Speaker 6: We knew he was dope. Jay Rock's heype man and
- 2:06Speaker 6: all of everybody know the story. But I don't think
- 2:07Speaker 6: they know the the fuck ten thousand I don't think
- 2:10Speaker 6: they know t the twenty thousand hours, and that was
- 2:12Speaker 6: put in to this success right now. So just watching
- 2:16Speaker 6: him become who he is is dope. But to hear
- 2:20Speaker 6: that I was one of the people that inspire him
- 2:22Speaker 6: was crazy. I was like, Bro, you didn't tell me
- 2:23Speaker 6: that we actually friends, right, So that was that was
- 2:27Speaker 6: like dope.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Yeah, not for sure to get those flowers facts because
- 2:30Speaker 4: I thought you're kind of like an underappreciated guy out here.
- 2:32Speaker 2: You know.
- 2:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I fell out too, but I always tell people
- 2:34Speaker 6: it was my fault. I was very inconsistent. You can't
- 2:36Speaker 6: really straddle the fence with the street shit, and you know,
- 2:39Speaker 6: I got shot up, brother got killed. I really stopped
- 2:42Speaker 6: doing music. And then you know, my partner Array, who
- 2:45Speaker 6: uh like discovered Kaylin for real for real, he the
- 2:48Speaker 6: one who really kind of like threw some change in
- 2:51Speaker 6: my pocket, was like, nah, man, get back wrapping, bro,
- 2:53Speaker 6: you too, dope? And I started doing that again, so
- 2:56Speaker 6: I got the fire again.
- 2:57Speaker 4: So was Glasses always uh the most ridiculous human beings
- 3:01Speaker 4: of all time?
- 3:02Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, but he'd always just argue with you, just
- 3:05Speaker 3: for the sake of doing it.
- 3:05Speaker 6: Yeah, God, God put Glasses Malone here on earth to
- 3:08Speaker 6: argue with everybody, to have his definitive points to everything.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Yes, sometimes I feel like he takes positions just just
- 3:16Speaker 4: because he knows everybody disagrees with him and he's comfortable.
- 3:21Speaker 6: I think he should have been like the biggest battle
- 3:23Speaker 6: rapper because that Nigga Rebuttal game was crazy.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Oh it's crazy.
- 3:27Speaker 5: Yeah, shout out to G.
- 3:28Speaker 6: Even though his brother still manages me to this day
- 3:30Speaker 6: pool so you know, we locked in for lights always.
- 3:32Speaker 5: I love Glasses.
- 3:33Speaker 3: He's one of my favorite human beings of life. Him
- 3:35Speaker 3: and I just he'll call me just to argue.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I look at so like sometimes I'll be in the
- 3:40Speaker 4: middle of some shit and something that pop culture will happen,
- 3:43Speaker 4: or it'll be like G Malone's calling. I'll be like,
- 3:46Speaker 4: this is a thirty minute, bare minimum conversation.
- 3:49Speaker 5: At forty five like that.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Sometimes I just I can't answer.
- 3:53Speaker 4: I'm not in the position to pick up the Glasses
- 3:55Speaker 4: Malone call because it's it's like it's a commitment.
- 3:58Speaker 5: For sure, Yeah, come inment.
- 4:01Speaker 4: I remember we had a conversation on the podcast like
- 4:03Speaker 4: two years ago, and he was like, we had a disagreement,
- 4:08Speaker 4: and I'm not a big Drake fan, never been a
- 4:10Speaker 4: big Drake guy. But he said Drake isn't hip hop,
- 4:14Speaker 4: And then I was like, what do you mean, He's
- 4:15Speaker 4: not hip hop?
- 4:17Speaker 3: Makes hip hop music? But now it aged like fine
- 4:21Speaker 3: wine man, which is crazy.
- 4:23Speaker 6: He been saying that. He's been saying that, saying that forever.
- 4:25Speaker 6: He's been saying that when he was signing cash Money.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Yeah, that's crazy.
- 4:29Speaker 6: When Glasses was signing cash Money. Honestly, that's the reason
- 4:33Speaker 6: why he never did a song with him. You know,
- 4:35Speaker 6: G is particular and they thinking like, oh, it's not
- 4:38Speaker 6: because he's a street Duder's like, nah, he just G
- 4:41Speaker 6: just liked that.
- 4:41Speaker 5: If you know G, you know right, if you know
- 4:44Speaker 5: you know, Nah.
- 4:45Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 4:46Speaker 4: It's wild too because that era of like like you said,
- 4:49Speaker 4: the Black Wall Street the I think a guy's like
- 4:52Speaker 4: Glasses rock Star.
- 4:53Speaker 3: There was just that whole era NIP obviously early Nip.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Yeah, that was kind of like the the era that
- 4:58Speaker 4: you came up in was like New West Coast West
- 5:02Speaker 4: and that was you know, there wasn't the only person
- 5:06Speaker 4: who got the co signed was earlier on was the game, right,
- 5:09Speaker 4: he got there.
- 5:09Speaker 3: He was kind of the last guy to get a
- 5:10Speaker 3: big co signed. He worked out for him.
- 5:12Speaker 4: But I remember there was a lot of animosity towards
- 5:17Speaker 4: some of the ogs for not necessarily fully embracing that
- 5:21Speaker 4: era of what was going on.
- 5:22Speaker 6: I honestly, I was just talking to about this, you know,
- 5:25Speaker 6: I mean, I just think it was a disconnect. Nobody
- 5:30Speaker 6: really had a line on the order casp per se
- 5:34Speaker 6: except only a few dudes, right, like, so nobody can
- 5:37Speaker 6: really you know.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Because about it, because Nipsey was very very vocal about that.
- 5:41Speaker 6: No, yeah, because it was like it seemed like they
- 5:44Speaker 6: wasn't trying to throw the rope down, and it's like
- 5:46Speaker 6: they don't owe us anything. But when we look at
- 5:48Speaker 6: other regions another coach, we was like, bro, look what
- 5:50Speaker 6: they're doing. They co signed and they you know, the
- 5:53Speaker 6: young dudes, especially if they don't, especially out here making
- 5:55Speaker 6: a noise by ourselves.
- 5:56Speaker 5: We should have did it.
- 5:57Speaker 6: Like I just remember that whole movement was Jim Alone, Bishop,
- 6:02Speaker 6: Mike stro bad luck problem, little band. Nip Of course
- 6:09Speaker 6: I said that topic.
- 6:13Speaker 3: There was even like what was the Mexican castname.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Omar Cruz. Omar Cruise was popping for sure he was.
- 6:20Speaker 6: He was super big. I can't forget about him the
- 6:23Speaker 6: whole with the Dove, CNN and West Coast Rodners, those
- 6:28Speaker 6: those are yeah yeah. Now Nima is one of the
- 6:32Speaker 6: biggest crazy mocals.
- 6:37Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, shout out to Nima.
- 6:39Speaker 6: But no, we just had a we had a cold
- 6:41Speaker 6: cruel tweet Leven Joe Moses like I can go on
- 6:43Speaker 6: and on, but we was all just making our way
- 6:46Speaker 6: and our name popping without them and soil. Then we
- 6:49Speaker 6: was like, okay, let's do something, which on it looked
- 6:51Speaker 6: like they was kind of like, you know, pushing us
- 6:54Speaker 6: to the side for a moment.
- 6:55Speaker 5: It felt like that until we started.
- 6:56Speaker 4: When when everything started getting vocals. I feel like there's
- 6:59Speaker 4: no coincidence that the Kendrick co sign happened a little
- 7:02Speaker 4: bit after that, no facts, because I.
- 7:03Speaker 5: Remember then it was like I'm looking for this cat
- 7:05Speaker 5: named Kendrick Lamore.
- 7:06Speaker 3: It happened.
- 7:07Speaker 4: It almost was in like a three month like when
- 7:09Speaker 4: Nipsey started getting super vocal about it because I had
- 7:12Speaker 4: him on my show and I remember he had something
- 7:15Speaker 4: he had said and I don't know if it was
- 7:16Speaker 4: a magazine or something. Then we talked about it, but
- 7:18Speaker 4: it felt like within like two or three months. Then
- 7:21Speaker 4: then like you said, the doctor drown Big Boy. I
- 7:23Speaker 4: think it was on Big Boy Big Boy.
- 7:25Speaker 5: He called in.
- 7:25Speaker 6: He was like, I'm looking for this cat and content
- 7:27Speaker 6: name Kenrick Lamore. We was all going crazy, like that's
- 7:30Speaker 6: do And.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Then from there it was it was just insane. And
- 7:34Speaker 4: it's crazy too because like now fast forward, it's like
- 7:37Speaker 4: I was just talking with.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Reason. He was here earlier and we were talking.
- 7:43Speaker 5: About like a reason of course and finess. We were
- 7:46Speaker 5: talking about TD.
- 7:47Speaker 4: To me, like, Top's probably the greatest music executive in
- 7:50Speaker 4: hip hop history at this point because if you think
- 7:53Speaker 4: about in terms of just then the conduct the last
- 8:00Speaker 4: a bullshit because you could talk point to Diddy and
- 8:03Speaker 4: obviously there's a lot of stuff with Diddy, you know,
- 8:04Speaker 4: you could point to even Shug, But I feel like
- 8:07Speaker 4: in terms of just like running like a fucking program and.
- 8:10Speaker 5: Like nah, he like a fucking drill sergeant.
- 8:12Speaker 3: So we're going on. I mean, think about it. What
- 8:16Speaker 3: year did Jay Rock sign A Warner? Eight oh seven?
- 8:19Speaker 5: Oh?
- 8:19Speaker 3: I think it was eight. When did the record with
- 8:21Speaker 3: Game drop eight or nine?
- 8:22Speaker 5: It was like wait on nine.
- 8:24Speaker 3: So it's like from there to now, that's fuck sixteen years.
- 8:30Speaker 5: Nah, it's very structural if you if you see it.
- 8:32Speaker 3: And then there was like you know, there's obviously points
- 8:35Speaker 3: and times throughout that where you know Jay Rock they
- 8:37Speaker 3: he did the joint venture with Strange Tech nine and
- 8:40Speaker 3: Kendrick was on the road on that Tech tour with
- 8:42Speaker 3: Jay Rock.
- 8:42Speaker 5: And yeah, did you I was on there with him.
- 8:46Speaker 6: I wasn't be former, so I went on and that's
- 8:48Speaker 6: when I got shot up and I was actually still healing,
- 8:51Speaker 6: but I was on the road with him just for
- 8:52Speaker 6: like a few dates, and I remember, Uh died on
- 8:56Speaker 6: that tour and he took Q. It was like top hat.
- 8:59Speaker 6: This set up like everybody piggybacks off each other. His
- 9:03Speaker 6: setup was insane. It's incredible. It was like a genius
- 9:06Speaker 6: because ended up being Kendrick Man exactly. And then they
- 9:12Speaker 6: was on when they was on tour, so they I
- 9:14Speaker 6: did they It was a song called Michael Jordan yep, cracking,
- 9:18Speaker 6: Michael Jordan's no but it was cracking on the tour yeah,
- 9:21Speaker 6: uh with Tech and that started cracking. So it just
- 9:23Speaker 6: seemed like they piggyback out of trouble and then boom,
- 9:26Speaker 6: last but not least and it was soul to crack.
- 9:28Speaker 6: But the dynamic of how he runs his business is dope.
- 9:32Speaker 6: It was almost like the old cash money how TV
- 9:35Speaker 6: would be featured on everybody's ship, but nobody would be
- 9:37Speaker 6: featured on TV. If you noticed, early cash money was
- 9:40Speaker 6: always hot boys featuring the big timers and all that
- 9:43Speaker 6: they and that was a dope structure and fun fact.
- 9:48Speaker 6: I probably messed up my opportunity, and not in a
- 9:50Speaker 6: bad way, but you know, I've been around them forever.
- 9:52Speaker 6: But Top asked me, I didn't know what a joint
- 9:54Speaker 6: venture was back in the day. I was just young
- 9:55Speaker 6: and dumb and just thugging out to venture with TD. Yes, oh,
- 10:01Speaker 6: I didn't know what that was at that particular time.
- 10:03Speaker 6: I dimned there probably told him, but I told him
- 10:05Speaker 6: in the words like y'all the hummies but discrip because
- 10:07Speaker 6: I was like, no, it's all good, bro, this Blue Division.
- 10:09Speaker 6: I fuck with y'all though, so he probably like, man,
- 10:12Speaker 6: we love okay, Well, he just don't understand. Yeah, And
- 10:15Speaker 6: look twenty years later.
- 10:16Speaker 4: It's crazy Man on the West, Like it's not even
- 10:19Speaker 4: that the big bigg in the world. It's like Scissor
- 10:22Speaker 4: is probably the you know, three biggest pop star on
- 10:25Speaker 4: the Wachi's gonna be I mean, Jesus, she's out of here.
- 10:30Speaker 6: Everybody on the label has a plaque and even if
- 10:33Speaker 6: they didn't have a plaque, they was a part of
- 10:35Speaker 6: being a part of a plaque, writing on it or anything.
- 10:38Speaker 6: Like the team effort over there is incredible.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I think you know, with TD, it's like, I mean,
- 10:46Speaker 4: it's funny because about a year and a half ago,
- 10:48Speaker 4: me and Problem argued, I said death Row over TD,
- 10:52Speaker 4: just based off impact. But I feel like fast forward,
- 10:54Speaker 4: like a year and a half later, big Problem was
- 10:57Speaker 4: right because he said TD over Death Row. He's like
- 11:00Speaker 4: the long the run is longer, which is true.
- 11:02Speaker 7: It is.
- 11:05Speaker 6: Less less, less drama, less drama. You got a pop
- 11:10Speaker 6: star that's cracking for sure.
- 11:12Speaker 4: And the other thing too is they actually Like the
- 11:14Speaker 4: thing about TD is they really are the last label
- 11:17Speaker 4: that's great that does real artist development, Like you don't
- 11:21Speaker 4: have to be super like. They're not out here signing
- 11:23Speaker 4: whoever's got the hotest ship. They're just building town. Don't
- 11:26Speaker 4: you been on the label for three years?
- 11:28Speaker 5: Yeah, and now look at her.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, Ray Vaughn's been cooking, you know, whenever
- 11:32Speaker 3: rolls out.
- 11:32Speaker 6: For real is one of the hardest underrated. He's amazing's crazy. Yeah,
- 11:37Speaker 6: So it's just a shout out to my long beast nigga.
- 11:40Speaker 3: So what you got going on? So you came here today?
- 11:43Speaker 3: So today what I got going on?
- 11:45Speaker 6: For those who don't know me, they know I do music,
- 11:47Speaker 6: but I feel like my calling right now, I've been
- 11:50Speaker 6: like giving back to the community. So I stumbled over
- 11:54Speaker 6: a nonprofit called p V Jobs. Happens to be in
- 11:56Speaker 6: my neighborhood, in my section, in my hood where I
- 11:59Speaker 6: grew up at bang That and all that. One of
- 12:01Speaker 6: my little homies was already in there, and he was
- 12:04Speaker 6: telling me, like, man, come on, let's do this podcast podcast.
- 12:07Speaker 6: I tell a story all the time now because I
- 12:09Speaker 6: always have to give him his flowers and apologize. At
- 12:12Speaker 6: the same time, I didn't think he was really serious.
- 12:14Speaker 6: He kept telling me was in the hood, and I'm
- 12:15Speaker 6: looking like, man, I ain't doing no shit in the hood,
- 12:17Speaker 6: right I'm thinking it's at somebody house. I go to
- 12:20Speaker 6: the facility podcast room. Incredible, it's a stage in their
- 12:25Speaker 6: office all that. I'm like, I'm impressed. I do the
- 12:28Speaker 6: interview with him. I come back, I have backstory. So
- 12:32Speaker 6: I come back after my surgery and everything, and I
- 12:35Speaker 6: asked the ED executive director, who's here, Miss Mary Taylor, like,
- 12:39Speaker 6: can I do a toy drive with y'all? And that
- 12:43Speaker 6: was her first toy drive. My first toy drive got
- 12:47Speaker 6: a super bomb with all the youth. I call him
- 12:49Speaker 6: the youth, but the program is like sixteen to twenty four, okay,
- 12:52Speaker 6: and Bro, I just been dealing with him ever since then,
- 12:55Speaker 6: and it's just been like fulfilling for me every day
- 12:57Speaker 6: that I can walk in every day to try to
- 12:59Speaker 6: help somebody, you know, do better and you know, help
- 13:02Speaker 6: save us soul because I wish I had that when
- 13:04Speaker 6: I was coming up.
- 13:04Speaker 3: So is it essentially to try to just kind of
- 13:07Speaker 3: like give people an outlet?
- 13:09Speaker 6: No, Bro, she does everything. So she made me the
- 13:12Speaker 6: create director over the media pathway, right, So we got
- 13:18Speaker 6: audio engineering classes, film editing classes, podcasts. I try to
- 13:24Speaker 6: teach them how to have industry etiquette when they're out,
- 13:27Speaker 6: how to network, how to introduce yourself the right way,
- 13:30Speaker 6: how to have great posture, don't oversell yourself, don't do
- 13:34Speaker 6: the goofy shit when you out because industry niggas hate
- 13:37Speaker 6: goofy shit because half of the industry niggas or goofy
- 13:40Speaker 6: so you feel me. So I just try to teach
- 13:43Speaker 6: them that. But her whole nonprofit. The biggest outcome. They
- 13:46Speaker 6: have construction too. So basically we just dealing with a
- 13:50Speaker 6: lot of youth that's been in and out of jail.
- 13:52Speaker 6: So they have their own podcast network called the re
- 13:55Speaker 6: Entry Network Podcast, so and everybody that's been in and
- 13:59Speaker 6: out of the system. But they're not lost because if
- 14:01Speaker 6: they was lost, they wouldn't be doing this and I
- 14:02Speaker 6: wouldn't be dealing with them because if they was lost,
- 14:04Speaker 6: they'd just be on the block all day every day.
- 14:05Speaker 6: They're really trying to find their purpose forward to try
- 14:08Speaker 6: to so since they got the effort, I'm going max
- 14:11Speaker 6: for them. So that's what I've been doing every day.
- 14:13Speaker 6: That's despite still being eas side kateboard artists.
- 14:16Speaker 4: It's a nonprofit. Yeah, so people are donating, Yes, what's there?
- 14:22Speaker 4: Is there an Instagram page or.
- 14:23Speaker 5: Is it PV jobs La? Yeah, pev jobs La.
- 14:26Speaker 3: And that's the website too.
- 14:28Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, the re Entry Network podcast.
- 14:33Speaker 4: That's the Instagram And that's a network or is it
- 14:36Speaker 4: like a specific podcast.
- 14:38Speaker 6: It's it's a network because they all have their own
- 14:40Speaker 6: podcasts underneath that that's do so re Entry Network podcast
- 14:44Speaker 6: is the umbrella, and then individually they have their own podcasts.
- 14:48Speaker 3: And then you guys are gonna be going out to
- 14:49Speaker 3: AZ too, right.
- 14:50Speaker 6: Yeah, man, were going to your hometown. You're the king
- 14:53Speaker 6: out there, something out there. We're going out there from
- 14:57Speaker 6: the twenty six to the first. I'm gonna have them
- 14:59Speaker 6: a sit down and do interviews on my home with
- 15:02Speaker 6: Jesse Luketta that played for the Cordinals. He termed musician.
- 15:07Speaker 6: Now so he has a release party. Is he the
- 15:09Speaker 6: African yep, that's my guy. Yeah, he went to Penn State.
- 15:12Speaker 5: Yeeah. Yeah, now he turned musicians. So he's actually doing.
