- 0:00Peace is not just a fuzzy feeling that you get
- 0:09when all of the things in your life come into
- 0:16line. It's not just a feeling. You know, I get
- 0:21a feeling when I'm sitting by a lake. And I like
- 0:28it. But it is not the peace of God. Because there's
- 0:35lots of people without the peace of God that
- 0:37sit by a lake and like it. Right? The peace of
- 0:44God is the order of God in our lives. And that
- 0:51seems like a very mechanical definition. But
- 0:56when God's order... comes into our life, His
- 1:03peace comes. The opposite of peace is the lack
- 1:08of God's order in my life. Okay? So we're just
- 1:15going to start right away with that understanding
- 1:17of peace. Before I read the text, Charles Schultz,
- 1:25the creator of peanuts, on limiting his thought
- 1:31life. I have a new philosophy. This is a quote.
- 1:35Quote, I have a new philosophy. I'm only going
- 1:39to dread one day at a time. Mark Twain on anxious
- 1:48thoughts. I am an old man and have known a great
- 1:55many troubles. but most of them never happened.
- 2:03I want to read that one again. I am an old man
- 2:08and have known a great many troubles, but most
- 2:11of them never happened. The wonderful Corrie
- 2:19Ten Boom. Worrying does not empty tomorrow of
- 2:24its sorrow. It empties today of its strength.
- 2:32It's a famous quote, but we need to hear that
- 2:34one more often, don't we? Worrying does not empty
- 2:38tomorrow of its sorrows. It empties today of
- 2:44its strength. Peace is God's order. You don't
- 2:51have order in your mind? You don't have peace
- 2:55in your mind. You don't have order in your home.
- 3:00You don't have peace in your home. Peace is God's
- 3:06order and the assurance that comes when I am
- 3:12aligned with Him. What happens when I know that
- 3:17the activity of my life is not aligning with
- 3:21God? the peace of God becomes elusive. Right?
- 3:30When I'm doing the wrong thing, I come under
- 3:35conviction. And that's a wonderful thing that
- 3:38comes from the Holy Spirit, conviction. But you
- 3:41know when conviction comes? When I am not in
- 3:43order anymore. I am lacking peace. Now I want
- 3:50to read the passage in Matthew chapter 2. Starting
- 3:54in verse, we'll start in verse 13. Now when they
- 3:59had departed, behold, this is the wise men, when
- 4:02the wise men had left them. Jesus is probably
- 4:05about two years old at this point. Now when the
- 4:09wise men had departed, behold, an angel of the
- 4:13Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream saying, arise.
- 4:19Take the young child and his mother, flee to
- 4:23Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word.
- 4:28For Herod will seek the young child to destroy
- 4:32him. And when he arose, he took the young child
- 4:37and his mother by night, immediately, and departed
- 4:43for Egypt, and was there until the death of Herod.
- 4:49That could have been, depending on which timeline
- 4:52you follow, it could have been anywhere from
- 4:56six months to three and a half years that they
- 5:00were in Egypt until the death of Herod. Departed
- 5:05for Egypt, was there until the death of Herod
- 5:07that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken
- 5:11by the Lord through the prophet, saying, Out
- 5:16of Egypt I called. my son. Now Matthew is a wonderful
- 5:24author at pointing us to the messianic prophecies.
- 5:30More in Matthew than any of the other gospels
- 5:33you will see, this was done to fulfill that which
- 5:36was said. And so Matthew will oftentimes quote
- 5:42the Old Testament to prove that Jesus was the
- 5:47Messiah. This quote is very interesting. It's
- 5:50from the book of Hosea. It's from Hosea chapter
- 5:5411 and verse 1. And I want to read that. Hosea
- 5:5911 .1. Hosea was a very interesting prophet.
- 6:03I don't have time to talk about him this morning.
- 6:05But an incredible picture in Hosea's life of
- 6:11the relationship between Israel and God. And
- 6:15so he prophesies in chapter 11, when Israel was
- 6:20a child, I loved him. And out of Egypt, I called
- 6:27my son. It's very interesting because Hosea is
- 6:33very clearly talking about Israel. He's talking
- 6:37about the first time Israel was called out of
- 6:42Egypt. And he looked at his son, Israel. God
- 6:47the Father looked at his son who was in captivity.
- 6:51And God supernaturally called them out of Egypt.
- 7:01Initially, Israel came to Egypt because of a
- 7:07drought. At that time, Israel, who's... whose
- 7:10name before it was changed to Israel, was Jacob.
- 7:14And Jacob had 12 sons. And Jacob was getting
- 7:21older, and he had a son named Joseph. And so
- 7:27how they came to Egypt was the story of another
- 7:30Joseph, who had another dream. The situations
- 7:39were a little bit different, but it was because
- 7:42of a dream that Joseph had that his brothers
- 7:47sold him into slavery, and he came to the nation
- 7:51of Egypt. God raised up Joseph from Potiphar's
- 8:04household. where he was a slave, to the prison
- 8:09where he was suffering the bread of, what do
- 8:15they call that, the bread of affliction, the
- 8:18bread of affliction. There in the prison of Egypt,
- 8:23Joseph suffered, but he came up through that
- 8:28because he was an interpreter of dreams, and
- 8:32he became the number two guy. all of Egypt and
- 8:39ended up I'm shortening the story ended up bringing
- 8:45his brothers his father and all their family
- 8:49to Goshen a region in Egypt where they could
- 8:54survive the seven -year famine And there they
- 8:59continued to dwell, and there they continued
- 9:02to multiply for 400 years. And after 400 years,
- 9:09the cries of their slavery, where before they
- 9:13came in as guests, and now they were enslaved
- 9:17in the land of Egypt, and their cries reached
- 9:21the ears of God, and Pharaoh gave an edict. and
- 9:27said, I want you to kill every child that is
- 9:32male that is newborn. It's very interesting,
- 9:36the correlation between the initial story and
- 9:41the story of Jesus. And out of that proclamation
- 9:47from Pharaoh, Moses was put in a basket as a
- 9:53newborn and pushed down the river. where Pharaoh's
- 9:58daughter found him, and he was raised in Pharaoh's
- 10:03household as a prince. And so Hosea is remembering
- 10:12this Moses that was raised up, and through a
- 10:18whole set of other series of circumstances, this
- 10:22Moses that was saved from the death of the newborn
- 10:25males, became the deliverer for Egypt. And he
- 10:35went back and confronted Pharaoh, who was really
- 10:39his brother, confronted Pharaoh, and God, through
- 10:50ten miracles, pulled... Israel out of Egypt,
- 10:56the last being the Passover, where lambs were
- 11:02slain, the blood was put on the doorpost, the
- 11:08death angel came, and wherever the blood was
- 11:10not, the firstborn males, whether Egypt or Israel,
- 11:15all of Israel had blood on their doorposts, so
- 11:18all the firstborn males of Egypt were killed.
- 11:22And Pharaoh finally said, you can go. It was
- 11:27the blood of the lamb that protected them and
- 11:33ultimately pulled them out of Egypt. And Hosea
- 11:38is remembering this phenomenon. And you remember
- 11:41the parting of the Red Sea. And you remember
- 11:44them walking across on dry ground and getting
- 11:48to the other side. And then Pharaoh hardens his
- 11:51heart again and changes his mind and sends his
- 11:54armies after Israel. God holds the armies back
- 11:58with a pillar of fire until the Israelites were
- 12:01all the way across. And then he lifted that pillar
- 12:05of fire and Pharaoh's army. rushed in after them
- 12:08and God swallowed up the entire Egyptian army
- 12:13into the sea. Praise God. And Hosea is remembering
- 12:21this. It was out of Egypt that I called my son.
- 12:30My son. This is important. This is not in my
- 12:35notes, but Some of you have sons and daughters
- 12:38that are in Egypt right now. They're in the land
- 12:42of slavery, and I want you to know that there
- 12:44is hope in the land of Egypt. Out of Egypt I
- 12:50called my son. And you fast forward thousands
- 12:57of years to the Joseph that we started our story
- 13:01with, the husband of Mary. Being called by an
- 13:07angel in a dream to flee to Egypt. And this is
- 13:17our passage where we talk about peace. Because
- 13:23Matthew, by the Holy Spirit, says this passage
- 13:29was not only about Israel. This passage was about
- 13:34the Messiah. Not my son with a little S, but
- 13:43my son with a big S. Out of Egypt, I called my
- 13:50son. And Joseph fled to Egypt immediately at
- 13:59the leaning of the Holy Spirit. as directed by
- 14:03a dream. He immediately arises, wakes up his
- 14:08wife, bundles up the child, packs a few things,
- 14:11I'm sure, and heads to the land of Egypt. He
- 14:17didn't know why. He just knew that God had spoken
- 14:21to him and that he should obey and do it. The
- 14:28next... Moment! Herod issues an edict, finding
- 14:36out from the wise men where they worshipped the
- 14:39King of kings and the Lord of lords. And he had
- 14:45all the children in Bethlehem slaughtered. But
- 14:54because Joseph listened, Jesus is spared. I believe
- 15:04that Joseph was a man of peace. I believe that
- 15:13before he ever had the dream, before he ever
- 15:17met the angel, we see signs that he was a man
- 15:23of peace. Remember when he first found out that
- 15:27Mary was pregnant? And Mary said, it's by the
- 15:30Holy Spirit. Well, Joseph was a godly man, but
- 15:37he was also a thinking man. My fiance, my betrothed,
- 15:45is pregnant. And she tells me this story. And
- 15:54he's a thinking man. And he understands some
- 15:59things. And at first, he's not sure. If he believes
- 16:05her, this is all going to get out. And she could
- 16:10be stoned because of her being pregnant outside
- 16:17of marriage. She could be stoned, but guess what
- 16:22Joseph was? He was a man of peace. And he said,
- 16:26no, I'm going to divorce her quietly. We're going
- 16:31to do this under the table. We're going to get
- 16:34her out of the city. She's going to go somewhere
- 16:37where she can have her baby and not suffer the
- 16:42shame that could come upon her. He was a man
- 16:47of peace. We see that Joseph was chosen by the
- 16:56Lord because of his character to father the Son
- 17:02of God. Jesus. And I just want to quickly share
- 17:10three things that I believe that were a part
- 17:12of Joseph's life that helped them navigate. Because
- 17:16we have people from Bethlehem fleeing to Egypt,
- 17:24and Joseph needed to be led by the peace of God.
- 17:36And so how was it that Joseph was led by the
- 17:39peace of God? Number one, Joseph cooperated with
- 17:43the Holy Spirit. So many want peace in their
- 17:47lives, but they don't want to cooperate with
- 17:52the command of God. Look at this crazy world
- 17:57in which we live. Do you know how much Chaos
- 18:02comes because people do not follow the command
- 18:05of God. Lots and lots and lots of chaos out there.
- 18:11Have you noticed that there's chaos in the world,
- 18:13friends? Shake your head at me if you've noticed
- 18:17that there's chaos in the world. There's chaos
- 18:21in the world because we ignore the command of
- 18:24God. Listen to this. If one generation If one
- 18:31generation would follow the Word of God with
- 18:37regard to sexual activity, every single venereal
- 18:42disease would be wiped out. Every single one
- 18:46of them. But there's chaos in the world because
- 18:51we ignore the command of God. Peace comes when
- 18:56we follow Him. We want peace in our lives without
- 19:01cooperating with the Holy Spirit. As soon as
- 19:04the Holy Spirit spoke, Joseph said, here we go.
- 19:09And away he went. Psalm 119, 165 says this, Great
- 19:15peace have those who love your law, and nothing
- 19:20causes them to stumble. Isn't that a picture
- 19:24of Joseph? He loved the command of God. And how
- 19:30do we know he loved it? Because he followed it.
- 19:34Amen? And when you follow the command of God
- 19:39for your life, you have great peace. These are
- 19:45keys. Proverbs 3, 1 and 2 says this. My son,
- 19:50do not forget my law, but let your heart keep.
- 19:55My commands for length of days and long life
- 20:00and peace, they will add to you. You see, God
- 20:06is not out to get you and steal your fun. God
- 20:10is out to protect you. He wants your life to
- 20:14bear the fruit of peace. Real peace in your life.
- 20:20Amen? Isaiah 26 verse 3 was an important verse.
- 20:26I went through a season of the lack of peace,
- 20:29didn't I, Cammie? I did, didn't I? You almost
- 20:32didn't survive it. But you came through great.
- 20:38And Cammie wrote this scripture out and put it
- 20:43on my bedside table. Isaiah chapter 26 verse
- 20:473. You will keep him in perfect peace. whose
- 20:51mind is stayed upon you. If you want God to bring
- 20:58peace in your life, you have to listen to what
- 21:02He tells you. That's easy, isn't it? Listen to
- 21:08what He tells you. It's not easy. It's simple.
- 21:13There's a difference between simple and easy,
- 21:15isn't there? It's a simple concept. Do what he
- 21:20says. But is it easy? No, it's not always. Because
- 21:26sometimes he tells us to do difficult things.
- 21:29Sometimes the things that he leads us to do don't
- 21:33line up with what we want. And what we want opposes
- 21:41what he says. And when that happens, if we hang
- 21:49on to our desire, our want, our need, we forfeit
- 21:56the peace of God. And that leads me to the second
- 22:03point, because peace is not the absence of difficulty.
- 22:09People think that if they just had more things
- 22:13lined up in their life, As far as amenities,
- 22:18that peace would come. If I just had a better
- 22:21car, peace would come into my heart. Dale says,
- 22:27yeah, right. If I just had more money. How many
- 22:33of you think your life would have more peace
- 22:36if you had more money? Americans. That's American
- 22:43thinking. But it is not the truth. Because the
- 22:50poorest of the poor can have the peace of God.
- 22:56You do not need more money to obtain the peace
- 23:00of God. You need more obedience. Mary and Joseph,
- 23:07what they were asked to do was never easy. From
- 23:13the very beginning, they're going to be ridiculed.
- 23:17They're going to be laughed at. Joseph, you're
- 23:22going to take that woman to be your wife when
- 23:24that is not your son? They were asked to walk
- 23:31a difficult road. But peace is not the absence
- 23:35of difficulty. In fact, God will... ask you to
- 23:41do hard things. And you can do them. Look at
- 23:48your neighbor and say, you can do them. God asks
- 23:53hard things. I've shared this story before, but
- 23:57it bears repeating. In 1555, Dr. Nicholas Ridley
- 24:04was sentenced to be burned at the stake in England.
- 24:08because of his witness for Christ. On the night
- 24:14before Ridley's execution, his brother offered
- 24:18to remain with him in the prison chamber to be
- 24:22of assistance and comfort. Nicholas Ridley declined
- 24:28his offer, saying, I intend to go to bed. and
- 24:36sleep as quietly tonight as ever I did. Because
- 24:43he knew the peace of God. He could rest in the
- 24:47strength of the everlasting arms of his Lord
- 24:51to meet his need. Isn't that amazing? The peace
- 25:00of God is not the absence of difficult circumstances.
- 25:05You might be walking through something difficult
- 25:08physically. You might be facing tightening in
- 25:14your wallet. You might be facing circumstances
- 25:19that are not ideal. And you wonder why God just
- 25:26doesn't kill King Herod right there so you can
- 25:28stay in Bethlehem and not leave. You wonder why
- 25:34God doesn't just change everything to make it
- 25:38easier for you. Well, he wants to teach you something.
- 25:44That in the midst of the trial, you can walk
- 25:49in perfect peace. Hallelujah. Around this room,
- 25:57right now. At homes, right now. are people that
- 26:04are suffering all kinds of situations and circumstances.
- 26:07I know some of your circumstances, they are not
- 26:11ideal. And even you would not wish your circumstance
- 26:16on anybody else. And you're walking through it.
- 26:23And I'm watching the peace of God on many of
- 26:28you in the midst of the storm. I love the story
- 26:35in Mark 4, 35. When evening had come, Jesus said
- 26:41to them, let's cross over to the other side.
- 26:44When they had left the multitude, they took Jesus
- 26:47along with them in the boat as he was. And other
- 26:51little boats were also with him, and a great
- 26:53windstorm arose. And the waves beat into the
- 27:00boat. We have a video if you watch one of our
- 27:05camping trips of a sudden storm. Pastor Ben,
- 27:12who's not with us this morning, was a part of
- 27:15that trip. A couple of the guys said, I have
- 27:19never been more scared in my life. The video
- 27:25that Alexandra took captures. A tree falling
- 27:30as the wind is blowing so hard. And there we
- 27:36were, thanking God that we were not on the water.
- 27:42It was a squall that came up in minutes. And
- 27:46that's what's happening here. Waves beat into
- 27:52the boat. It was filling up with water. But Jesus
- 27:58was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. I want
- 28:06to be like that. Anybody want to join me and
- 28:12be like that? That your trust is so strong in
- 28:19God that when the storm arises, you can sleep
- 28:24in the front of the boat. Do you know what that
- 28:28is? Peace. It's not the absence of difficulty.
- 28:36It's that in the midst of the difficulty, you
- 28:40know that God is with you. He is with you. This
- 28:48is the whole point of Emmanuel. God who is with
- 28:55you. He is with you. He is with you. There's
- 29:08turmoil in my family, pastor. He is with you.
- 29:21So they woke him and said, teacher, don't you
- 29:25care that we are perishing? And he arose, and
- 29:35I picture him rubbing his eyes, waking up, and
- 29:45said to the wind, peace, be still. And the wind
- 29:52ceased, and there was great calm. And he had
- 29:57a question for them, which I believe God would
- 29:59speak to you this morning and to me. Why are
- 30:05you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?
- 30:15Trust in God. When I walked through what I did,
- 30:20it took me six months to really get a handle
- 30:22on things. And I wouldn't trade that six months
- 30:26of my life for anything because it was in that
- 30:28crucible that God taught me peace. I had such
- 30:37anxiety that I didn't sleep for three, four,
- 30:41five nights in a row. I would go days without
- 30:46sleep because of anxiety. I was embarrassed,
- 30:55to be honest with you. Here I am, the assistant
- 30:59pastor of the church, the worship leader. Anxiety
- 31:06affecting my heart. Having to go to the emergency
- 31:10room multiple times. I would read the scriptures.
- 31:25And at first I was like, why isn't it working?
- 31:30I'd be up in the middle of the night. And I would
- 31:34look at the mirror. And I, in time, began to
- 31:42prophesy over myself. And say, you shall live
- 31:48and not die. I would look at myself in the mirror.
- 31:55Do you know what I was afraid of? Dying. Things
- 32:02were not good physically. I had issues. But it
- 32:06exposed something in my heart that I was afraid
- 32:10of death. And it was this six -month period where
- 32:16God forced me to wrestle with things that were
- 32:19buried deep in my heart that I didn't even know
- 32:21were there. And I began to align my thinking.
- 32:30With the word of God. And slowly, slowly, slowly,
- 32:35I got on top and wasn't always on the bottom
- 32:43because when you're filled with anxiety, you
- 32:45feel like I am on the bottom. I can never get
- 32:48on the top of this. But I began to align my thinking
- 32:54and my life up with the word of God. And it was
- 33:00a struggle. And I wasn't on the waves physically
- 33:06in a boat, but I was. And I want to tell you
- 33:12that even then, that Jesus did not abandon His
- 33:15disciples. Don't think that if God says to you,
- 33:19you need to grow in your faith, that He is abandoning
- 33:23you. No, He's calling you up to a higher place.
- 33:28so that you can do what Jesus did. The next time
- 33:31the storm comes, guess what you can do? Sleep
- 33:33in the boat because you trust that God is there.
- 33:39I never want anybody to feel like they are less
- 33:42of a human being or that they are somehow failing
- 33:46in their walk because they have fear or anxiety
- 33:49or difficulty. I never want anybody to feel that.
- 33:53I know what that's like. But I do want to call
- 33:57you to change. Amen? I want to call you to rise
- 34:06up in the midst of your trial, to engage with
- 34:11it, and to become what God's called you to be.
- 34:18Joseph walked in peace, doing impossible things.
- 34:23And so can you. And finally this morning, peace
- 34:28comes when we position ourselves to hear from
- 34:33God. Joseph was a man of prayer long before he
- 34:40was ever chosen to be the Messiah's father. Peace
- 34:46comes when we position ourselves to hear from
- 34:48God. Go with me to Philippians chapter 4. And
- 34:53I want to read the promise of verse 7. Every
- 34:56one of you need this. In fact, you should write
- 34:58this down. Write this verse down and put it on
- 35:01your refrigerator. Philippians 4, 7. And the
- 35:05peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
- 35:10will guard your heart and mind through Christ
- 35:14Jesus. Isn't that a great verse? The peace of
- 35:18God will guard your heart and mind through Christ
- 35:22Jesus. Praise the Lord. I love Romans 16 when
- 35:28Paul is saying farewell. He says, and the God
- 35:30of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.
- 35:35Amen? I love that. I love that. This is the God
- 35:40that we serve, crushing our enemies. And filling
- 35:44our hearts with peace. And the promise here in
- 35:47Philippians 4, the peace of God that goes beyond
- 35:53my ability to even think about it will guard
- 35:56my heart and my mind. And so I would make a decision.
- 36:03I'm going to enter into your peace today. And
- 36:08I would agree with the word of God. But the promise
- 36:12of verse 7 is attached to a commandment. And
- 36:20if you don't do the commandment, you cannot claim
- 36:25the promise. You have to fulfill the requirement
- 36:31in order to receive the promise. So what's the
- 36:37requirement? Well, let's back up. To verse 6.
- 36:43Be anxious for nothing. But in everything. You're
- 36:53all saying that. I didn't even tell you to say
- 36:56it and you're all saying it. In everything. By
- 37:02prayer. And supplication. With thanksgiving.
- 37:10Let your requests be made known to God. This
- 37:20is the requirement. And so when your thoughts
- 37:25are anxious, you know what I needed to do? Repent.
- 37:31And I did it again and again and again and again
- 37:34and again. Bringing my thoughts. My emotions,
- 37:40my feelings in line with the word of God. Instead
- 37:51of thoughts of anxiety, God, I want to bring
- 37:55this to you in prayer. I want to yield it to
- 38:01the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. I want
- 38:04to thank you, God, for meeting every need that
- 38:06I have. I want to thank you, God, for helping
- 38:13me with every thought. Instead of anxiousness,
- 38:18Lord, help me to walk with thanksgiving. That's
- 38:24a great determent to anxiety, is to start to
- 38:30use your mouth to say all the things that you're
- 38:34thankful for. You know, that's a godly exercise.
- 38:39With thanksgiving. God, I thank you for your
- 38:45goodness in my life. I thank you for the way
- 38:49that you have blessed my life. I thank you, God,
- 38:54for your promises in my life, that they are yes
- 38:57and amen. And I had to... In the heat of the
- 39:04battle, there was probably about a month that
- 39:07was the heat of the battle, where every day,
- 39:10and I didn't always succeed, but I did it over
- 39:13and over and over and over again. And the promise,
- 39:22there came the day when the promise broke through.
- 39:31That happened when I was 35 years old. It was
- 39:37a year I'll never forget. I have not been overcome
- 39:46with anxiety by a symptom since. Because the
- 39:56peace of God guards my heart. And I want to tell
- 40:02you that the same God that worked in me can work
- 40:07in you. I want to close with Genesis chapter
- 40:181. The Word of God begins with Genesis 1, but
- 40:26I'm going to close my message with Genesis 1.
- 40:31Because it illustrates the peace of God. In the
- 40:40beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
- 40:44The earth was without form and void. And darkness
- 40:52was on the face of the earth. Some translations
- 40:57say chaos. And the Spirit of God was hovering
- 41:08over the face of the waters. Sometimes when you
- 41:17feel anxious about something, it's because it's
- 41:19not complete. Sometimes there's chaos in your
- 41:24world. It's one thing to come down to the altar,
- 41:31which I'm going to give the opportunity for anybody
- 41:32to receive prayer here in a moment. Any of you
- 41:36at home, we can pray for you. And the Spirit
- 41:42of God touches you when you receive prayer. How
- 41:46many of you have received prayer and you felt
- 41:48God touch you? Yeah. You know that it's real.
- 41:54But God can come and touch you here at the altar.
- 41:58But one of the problems is the world that you
- 42:01go back into is filled with chaos. Your home
- 42:08is a disaster. Your relationships are struggling.
- 42:16There is no order in the world in which you're
- 42:19going back to. And oftentimes you get a touch
- 42:24from God at the altar. but it does not translate
- 42:28into transformation in your life. I believe that
- 42:36God wants to touch you in the altar, but he's
- 42:41also going to speak to you some things that you
- 42:46need to get in order in your world. Isn't that
- 42:55what happened in creation? The Spirit of God
- 42:59was hovering over the waters. And God said, let
- 43:06there be light. And He began day after day for
- 43:13six days to bring order to that which was chaos.
- 43:24And when He created Adam and Eve, we don't know
- 43:28how long it was that they lived in the garden
- 43:31before they sinned. We don't know, but for however
- 43:33long they lived there in the Garden of Eden,
- 43:38under those idyllic circumstances, in that world
- 43:43of order, there was peace. It wasn't until they
- 43:51got out of alignment, That Adam was afraid because
- 44:01he was naked. And so he hid. And therein lies
- 44:10the problem of humanity. But Jesus shed his blood
- 44:19to redeem you. And to cover over the sin of Adam
- 44:26that flows in your veins and my veins. And to
- 44:31restore God's order to your life. Don't be surprised
- 44:37if you give your life to Christ. And then he
- 44:40suddenly begins to tell you things that you need
- 44:42to change in your life. It's not because he wants
- 44:46to be mean to you. It's because he wants to bring
- 44:50you his peace. And he's starting to adjust things
- 44:55and change things. Let there be this. Let there
- 44:57be that. And that which he did in creation in
- 45:01six days, he's starting to do in you. And that
- 45:05is called discipleship. I'm becoming a follower
- 45:11of Christ. I am ordering my life. I am lining
- 45:16up my life with what God is telling me to do.
- 45:22with what He is telling me to be. Young people,
- 45:26don't miss it. Don't let the world line up your
- 45:30life. It will end in chaos. Don't let the spirit
- 45:36of this age influence your desires. Don't connect
- 45:41yourself with people that are taking you down
- 45:44the wrong road. Line yourself up with God. Line
- 45:51yourself up with what He is saying. He doesn't
- 45:56want to just touch you for a moment. Oh, remember
- 46:00that time in my life where I felt good. He wants
- 46:06to implant peace in your life. A fruit of the
- 46:12Spirit that will increase throughout your entire
- 46:19life. That's what he wants to do. Amen? Anybody
- 46:26want that for their life? Anybody want that?
- 46:30I want that. That's what we see in Joseph. Led
- 46:36by the Spirit. Submitted to what God wanted for
- 46:39his life. Doing things the way God wanted him
- 46:43to do. Sometimes at the expense of his own reputation.
- 46:49But saying yes. Lord, we just come before you
- 46:58right now. The peace that passes all understanding.
- 47:05Lord, you are here in this room right now, and
- 47:09we acknowledge you. You're speaking to hearts
- 47:15right now. There's some that are in a difficult
- 47:21place. I want to pray for somebody at home right
- 47:26now. I want to ask in Jesus' name that you would
- 47:31just meet them right where they are in their
- 47:34living room. God, I want to pray for couples
- 47:40right now. There's turmoil and difficulty. But
- 47:48when we line ourselves up with your divine order,
- 47:55The peace of God comes. Lord, I'm asking you
- 48:00in Jesus' name that you would touch people this
- 48:06morning with your power, that you would break
- 48:12off of them the anxiety and the fear. And I ask
- 48:20God that you would speak to them. The things
- 48:25that they need to know to bring about change.
- 48:32It's for the long term. God, move in this place.
- 48:41If you're here this morning, perhaps you've just
- 48:44thought it was your personality. Well, I'm a
- 48:48worry wart. It's what I do. You didn't understand
- 48:54that it was part of the fallen nature. But this
- 49:02morning you're saying, you know what, I have
- 49:05been giving myself to that thing. And it's been
- 49:10a part of my life. But today I just want to declare
- 49:16my desire to walk in freedom from it. If that's
- 49:22you, I just want you to lift up your hand all
- 49:24over this room right now and say, that's me.
- 49:27Thank you, thank you, thank you. Anybody else?
- 49:32Thank you. Others with their hands raised up.
- 49:37You're tired of dealing with anxiety. You think
- 49:44that it can only be dealt with with a pill. But
- 49:50God wants to teach you to sleep in the boat.
- 49:54Lord, these that have raised their hands, God,
- 49:58I want to just ask in Jesus' name that you'd
- 50:01come alongside them right now. You don't abandon
- 50:05us. You never abandon us. You love us too much
- 50:11for that. I thank you, God, that for six months
- 50:15you could have abandoned me, but you never walked
- 50:18away. And you brought me all the way through.
- 50:23And I'm just asking right now that you would
- 50:27bring peace to the storm of the lives of the
- 50:31people in this room. You saw them raise their
- 50:35hands. They weren't raising their hand to me
- 50:38or to anybody in this room, but to you, Lord.
- 50:45And they were saying, God, I need your peace.
- 50:52Can we all just pray this prayer right now? Jesus,
- 50:56I thank you that you are the Prince of Peace.
- 51:05You speak to my situation. Peace be still. But
- 51:14you call me to be like you. And so I speak to
- 51:22my situation. Peace. Be still. Teach me, God,
- 51:37to cooperate with your Holy Spirit. Teach me
- 51:45to position myself. For the promise of peace.
- 51:53Teach me to grow in my walk with you. Put grit
- 52:01in me, God. That would never give up. But that
- 52:07would trust in your word. In the name of Jesus.
- 52:16And everybody said. Amen. Amen. Praise God. I
- 52:23believe some victory just happened in this house
- 52:25right now. Hallelujah. I believe some victory
- 52:29just happened in this house right now. If you
- 52:31believe that, I want you to just stand up with
- 52:34me right now in the name of Jesus. Hallelujah.
- 52:37Just lift your hands to the Lord. If you feel
- 52:40comfortable just lifting your hands, just lift
- 52:42your hands to the Lord right now and thank God
- 52:45for being your peace right now. You're the Prince
- 52:48of Peace. You are my Prince of Peace. And we
- 52:51thank you, Lord. And we give you praise in Jesus.
- 52:57Mighty name. Hallelujah. Glory to God. Glory
- 53:03to God. Glory to God. Hallelujah. Thank you,
- 53:09Father. Glory to Jesus. Your name is Jesus. Your
- 53:15name is life. Your name is good. Praise God.
