- 6:56[SPEAKER_06]: In like a lion, yes it was in like a lion yesterday, with just a touch of snow and temperatures of minus four this morning.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_06]: So we started out the month lion-like, but it is getting more lamb-like by the day.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_06]: If you look at sure, I don't know if you can, I never, you look at the phone forecast, you ever do that, might you probably do it like me.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_06]: 19 degrees right now and you see, well, at one point they had us up in the 60s this weekend, they scaled that back.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_06]: But we're looking at 22 today.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_06]: Well, today's the right off.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_06]: 40 tomorrow.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_06]: That's good.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_06]: 41, 48, 47 on Friday.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_06]: Then 57.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_06]: 57 is on her whiffs.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_06]: On Saturday, 52, 51, and the 63 next week.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_06]: Those are some spring-like temperatures,
- 7:48[SPEAKER_06]: now i think it's over i think this is gonna melt by this time next week so much of this will be gone except for some of the bigger piles thank you shake and uh... but uh... you have to understand if you do to the north country
- 8:06[SPEAKER_06]: Whenever somebody you get this time of year and spring, a hint of spring is in the air and people are feeling optimistic and ready for the flowers and ready to baseball season and the masters and I want to just get out and walk without freezing.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_06]: As soon as you get to that point, there's always someone in the room who says, yeah, but you know, I remember the you, it stood on Mother's Day.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_06]: There's always that one person.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_06]: You know who he is or she, yeah.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_06]: Look around here, he's there.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_06]: Safe springs here and see how fast he's at.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, no.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_06]: Artma, we got a footage no one, Mother's Day.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know if he did or didn't.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_06]: But anyway.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_06]: Jerron, the news, just one by the top.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_06]: Grossing movie in the country of the weekend was scream seven, the seventh iteration of that.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_06]: A commentary on America, I guess.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_06]: How much screaming was there in the first six?
- 9:09[SPEAKER_06]: Not enough for you, apparently not.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_06]: Speaking of screaming, there's going to be some angry people tonight at City Hall.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_06]: People who live down in the vicinity of the former Nick, well, the former.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_06]: Who was it?
- 9:27[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, the Nick or Baku.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_06]: School down there.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_06]: Nick or Baku, you know that area with all the little
- 9:35[SPEAKER_06]: really cute to post war brick houses across the high school lovely lovely neighborhood people love it there was one street that went there was a school at the end of it and about a twenty seven acre parcel and it's been vacant for years because the school closed all of that and the people are used to quiet street and dead and then we find out the other day and it was even a surprise to some council members apparently
- 10:05[SPEAKER_06]: But there's a proposal out there by Jake Johnson, who's good guy, hard worker, hard worker.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_06]: But he wants to build a multi-phase, 130-sectioned apartment complex involving 16 buildings.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_06]: He says it'll provide obviously increased tax base.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_06]: perennial sewer problems in what's called a western outfall.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_06]: He says there's real benefits to the neighborhood, but the neighborhood is saying in no uncertain words not in my backyard.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_06]: Now I've been in these council meetings that kind of blowback and I'm telling you we
- 11:05[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know, it would involve a extending the road right on through tomorrow drive.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_06]: So I, they're going to be there this tonight.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_06]: I guess there's a planning board meeting tomorrow.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not sure the project's been sold adequately publicly.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_06]: I think you've, before you get it out there in the papers, I don't know, you might want to hold some guy to
- 11:32[SPEAKER_06]: people over there, they got their petitions going, it involves a zone change, so that will force a forfeit vote, which they won't have, council will never approve it.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_06]: And that's that.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, that's the politics.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_06]: I call Mr. Johnson this morning.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_06]: I said, you know, there's a lot of people coming to that meeting.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_06]: And I've been around these type of things before, and I know what goes on.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_06]: And I just don't see.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_06]: Council approving it with that kind of opposition from all of those people.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_06]: Some of whom live in the neighborhood.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_06]: So I don't know, maybe he can make the case we invited them on the hotline, the show of shows, to make his case, apparently the planning department loves it, they love it.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_06]: And where they live.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_06]: So just a tough thing.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_06]: That's tonight, also tonight the flags, the flags, yes, no less under Dr. Kimball's policy that he pushed through in which anyone can ask the council for the right to fly their favorite flag in front of City Hall for a day.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_06]: Already the Irish flag was turned down.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_06]: the anniversary date of the founding of turning point USA and another on June 14th to celebrate President Trump's birthday, putting a presidential flag up that day.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe a Trump flag, maybe a mag of flag, I don't know, first of all, this provides an under what council members should do, but they won't.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_06]: is not introduced any of three.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_06]: No one should say I introduced your second.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_06]: Let them go and not under new business, pass a resolution to repeal this flag policy.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_06]: Because you're going to get more requests.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_06]: Now, certainly be one for the Italian flag around Columbus Day.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_06]: What you're going to have other things you'll have the Juneteenth flag you'll have everything else Somebody texted me something Well, I don't know Oh Yeah
- 14:18[SPEAKER_06]: something else it was it was actually was a bot call and he did somebody anyway we'll get to that later president trumpett this hour is uh... in the east room of the white house you just spent time talking about the new ball room and right after he was talking about it update on the situation in a rack i i thought that was
- 14:43[SPEAKER_06]: Anyway, he's presenting metals of honor to Robert Edmunds, a World War II veteran who helped shelter Jewish citizens from the Nazis, a Mike Alus, Michael Alus, who basically threw his body over an IED or to save a Polish soldier.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_06]: And to Mancitor Major, retired Terry Richards, who served in Navi at NAM.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_06]: they're all receiving out the first two posthumously the second one will be there but metals of honor the highest uh... honor one can get in the military so uh... kudos to them and uh... thanks to them for their service and their sacrifice uh... what is going on over in that war i guess a couple of uh... uranium bombers got shot down by the cattiries that's good
- 15:36[SPEAKER_06]: uh... we've lost four was in that missile attack on Kuwait was not in action over a ran it was in Kuwait and uh... also in Kuwait in a accident that resulted in no deaths because they bailed out but three of our fifteen's got shot down inadvertently by the catharsis with their surface to air
- 16:01[SPEAKER_06]: system so they thought they were incoming rockets and they're supposed to be a friend or photo detector that sends out a signal that's what I'm told by military experts to prevent that from happening but apparently someone wasn't looking at that light on the dashboard so anyway that's what's going on over there I'm more is going to continue in earnest for four to five weeks the president says and you know I look at it
- 16:26[SPEAKER_06]: And when I came home after a closing on Friday night, I saw the hit had just started.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_06]: I said, oh, he's not wild about this, but the execution of it, and then you think about Iran.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_06]: And the whole hostage crisis.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_06]: And all of that, in the way they tormented us there, and the loss of the rescue crew there.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_06]: And then you think about Beirut in 1983 with 241 Marines blown up by Iranian-backed interests.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_06]: And you think about the coal, that's just coal.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_06]: They took a little boat up to the side of it with a bomb on it and blew a hole in that.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_06]: And then you think about all of the other things, October 7th and Missile attacks.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_06]: kidnappings and the nile of human rights it's amazing in this country the number of people standing around or cheering for Iran they don't care about yeah but they can kill you for not wearing your hijab over there well that's okay there's laws it's not trump i like them but i'm thinking about Iran i'm thinking you know this has to be done
- 17:46[SPEAKER_06]: the other Gulf countries where ironically getting attacked by their neighbor i mean as you see the crown plaza i think in uh... to buy one of those countries missile into the side of it yeah and other uh... things the airports are shut down the had to shut down their liquid national gas because of the threat of bombings and uh... it's causing quite a bit of a
- 18:12[SPEAKER_20]: I don't think Iran has any friends anymore other than a few uh... well it's a few in congress i think one from minnesota one from michigan certainly but after doing your on the air i know it's a good what's up all i uh... just listen to you talk about the uh... war and uh... i think you you know your reflection of uh... everything over the years with i ran as uh... you know they've been
- 18:41[SPEAKER_20]: a long time, but I think the biggest thing that nobody really is paying attention to and nobody's really taken into account nothing nobody but you're not hearing much conversation on really, you know, the big picture is what happened down in Venezuela and now what is going on and Iran is going to cut the Chinese and total half of their oil consumption.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_20]: So it's going to
- 19:10[SPEAKER_20]: And it's going to bring China to their knees, and he did it in just 60 days, sir.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_20]: You know, that's pretty, that's pretty, uh, pretty good, if you ask me.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_20]: And I have a lot of confidence now, even more so that I did from originally in P.I.C.S.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_20]: I think that he's very capable, world fighter.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_20]: And I just die, I now would see in the
- 19:36[SPEAKER_20]: You know, China's been coming to know that us for just as many years and their plan from the inside to bring us to our knees with that and all, you know, and all the other things that they've been doing with the manipulating currency throughout the years and doing what they're doing.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_20]: It's just good to see a president actually get in there and go on the offense instead of men on the defense.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_06]: Now I agree.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_06]: I, I, I, I, I, following it closely, obviously it's a, on TV a lot.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_06]: You know, you get all these people like I get them on my blog and stuff like oh, look at the stock market town.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_06]: Well, it's it recovered already and oh, the price of oil is up.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I'll go down and they just sort of revel are actually here three f-15 fell out of this guy.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_06]: They there's people out in the audience who would like this now.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_06]: There's going to be a couple of demonstrations on public square this weekend.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_06]: Did you know that?
- 20:30[SPEAKER_20]: Yeah, I just heard about the ones for ice.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, there's another one.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_20]: A pro-ites demonstration, I did see that one.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_20]: Um, yeah, well, anyway, I don't think any of the other people are, it's really always what boggles my mind is that people have read the Bible throughout the years.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, well, I don't know about that.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_20]: Well, listen, I don't need to get too deep, but if you pay attention,
- 21:03[SPEAKER_20]: Okay, what I'm waiting for seriously is to wait on to see what China's reaction is and see what's his reaction You know, it has a military five and five miles from the north as real.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_06]: I know in Djibouti there and all those areas listen, I got we got to get off the foreign policy here Well, I don't want to get into the depth of it because then we'll get the other guy calling
- 21:31[SPEAKER_20]: Why you can't get to the meat of the world?
- 21:33[SPEAKER_20]: Why you so afraid?
- 21:35[SPEAKER_20]: I already articulated what I think of a ran, so All right, well, many so many some day you will but anyways, I'll do that.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah Sometimes you cover an issue, but you don't have to just This is a very superficial Talk show
- 21:54[SPEAKER_06]: There's two rallies.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_06]: I got notices on one is a pro israeli supporting federal immigration enforcement public square saturday eleven a.m. Says stand for secure borders defend America peaceful public hearing hosted by we the people.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know who that is.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, and you know what's funny.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_06]: I got these in somebody else and I forward them to a friend of mine in the media.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_06]: It says, oh, thank you.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_06]: They didn't know either.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_06]: And then also on saturday at eleven a.m. Oh, this could be a conflict.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_06]: a no distractions pop-op rally now listen to this uh... war will not distract us corruption ice abuses pedophile protection war and genocide funding from the pockets of the american people all while the rich get richer show up demand accountability stand with your neighbors we could have some trouble on the squares saturday might want to tell
- 22:52[SPEAKER_06]: I want to tell the police department, Mr.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_06]: Manager, I want to tell them that he's competing rallies there.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_06]: If these things are true, that were sent to me, I assume they are.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_06]: If there's anybody from these organizations, whether it's we the people or who's the other group.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_06]: And then, and why I stop, I can't read it.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_06]: But anyway,
- 23:13[SPEAKER_06]: If there's anybody who wants to discuss their rally this weekend, but I would make sure I'd make sure there's a couple of officers there.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, 11 a.m. Saturday.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_06]: Also, somebody sent me the window notices from, remember we told you about the couple of businesses in town and local businesses, you know, they sell some smokes and they sell some weed and
- 23:36[SPEAKER_06]: The office of cannabis administration swept in and put one of their stickers in the window very ominous looking red letters illicit cannabis seized illicit cannabis.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_06]: Oh my god.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_06]: Oh my god.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_06]: It's all there was back in the seventies and then they got a cease and desist order they posted on the window.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_06]: This was a business right within a stone's throw here at the station.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_06]: So I don't know the media hasn't, man, they kind of been quiet on that story.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_06]: They don't like it because a lot of them are weed smokers.

- 27:28[SPEAKER_06]: Somebody says send me a text message.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_06]: And, uh... Of a sign written handwritten sign on the front door of Mr. sub downtown saying, closed for business retired.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know if that's true, I'm going to check with a friend of mine who knows the owner Mr. Furon pretty well.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_06]: That would be horrible, that's a boy they got good sub-sare, good growth.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_06]: I don't mean, you know, I mean there's a lot of good sub-shops, and I haven't tried them also, but we're checking on that now.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, it is.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_06]: Close for good.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_06]: I'm told.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_06]: Now, that's news.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_06]: That's breaking news.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_06]: And we don't have a little sounder to go with that or graphic or anything.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_06]: But that'd be something, you know, you might want to send somebody down to the square shoot a little video of that.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_06]: Is that a big deal?
- 28:26[SPEAKER_06]: That sub-shop is an institution.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_06]: here in water town and some great food and people being there for years roll by reliable sources plus there's a a note in the door saying it's close to retirement was it carl ferron on that great guy now there's a possibility he might still sell pizzas there but that's unknown yet
- 28:50[SPEAKER_06]: So it may not be totally closed, but that's what I'm getting from sources at the sub-end of its kaput.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_06]: So anyway, changes in downtown business, and you know you hear about it first, a lot of things you hear first year.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_06]: I don't mean to be whatever, but it's true.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_06]: And what have we told you today?

- 32:43[SPEAKER_14]: Around the continent.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_14]: Around the clock.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_14]: This is the news in talk authority AM-1240.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_06]: W-A-T-N. Hey, I'm 1240 W-A-T-N. To see the picture, the government and the newspapers, she's second tired of a frozen pipe in her house.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_06]: Well, a lot of people are.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_06]: You know, one of the things we're worth working on this summer is to reduce the number of properties on the freeze list.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_06]: a lot of people have this and in some cases it's because the lateral coming in was if you put in above the sewer pipe or something in this too shallow uh... maybe that could be corrected and in other cases and i've talked to water department people you know they they're told to leave the trickle of water on the keep it moving and then they turn it off wonder why it froze again or they you know leave basement windows and doors open so the basement is like zero degrees or less and then they wonder why the pipes froze
- 33:35[SPEAKER_06]: He's a little common sense, folks.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I mean some of the problems maybe the city can help with, but they're not there to fix every homeowner problem you have.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_06]: Internal freeze means that pipes are exposed.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_06]: And that happened to me a few years ago, a pipe was in an external wall.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_06]: I just had the plumber move it.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_06]: Into the room, yeah, I mean that's what you got to do sometime.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_06]: Sometimes you had to do what you said,
- 34:04[SPEAKER_06]: not every problem is a city problem.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_06]: So in post, you know, a lot of nobody wants to pay the cost to of digging up a street and moving water sewer lines, it's not fun.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_06]: Anyway, what else have we got going on?
- 34:21[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, Council meeting tonight, I think the city manager's back from his vacation and who was in charge while he was gone?
- 34:28[SPEAKER_06]: There's an assistant
- 34:30[SPEAKER_06]: it's an assistant to the city manager i don't think it's a actual officer of the city i don't think they amended the charter to create that position but uh... so i i don't really know what it is administrative assistant i guess i guess she was in charge of the city i mean i was talking to somebody a council person they said i don't i don't know where he is and you know
- 34:56[SPEAKER_06]: this woman's nice and off so I just don't know where I mean you know don't know much about it but anyway that's that's who's in charge so but not today the manager's back with a firm hand on the killer yes so 755 1240 the phone number if it'd like to give us a call to be on the show of shows good after
- 35:28[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, it's bad news about the Mr. Subbs.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, we don't know all the details yet, but what?
- 35:38[SPEAKER_18]: It's sad news.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_06]: It is sad news.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_06]: What else you want to say?
- 35:44[SPEAKER_18]: And if Council shoots down Dick Johnson tonight,
- 35:58[SPEAKER_06]: Well, I don't know.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_18]: I don't know.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_18]: I don't know.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_18]: I don't know.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 36:26[UNKNOWN]: I
- 36:27[SPEAKER_06]: and at the planning commission uh... meeting tomorrow night so uh... i don't know i mean but he's trying to do something good he's a hard work and guy and uh... i think he's got the best instincts but i was told yesterday he went down to his property to look at it and there was somebody out in the streets screaming obscenities at him
- 36:51[SPEAKER_06]: And kind of semi-threatening type stuff, I mean, you don't do that, you don't go up to somebody and you know, call them every name in the book just because they want to build some housing.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, there's, you know, but I'll tell you, there's the passions are inflamed over there in that neighborhood and I don't know what's gonna happen tonight.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_06]: just hope it doesn't get ugly nimbee say other nimbee's not my backyard okay well thank you sir alright by now you know it's a funny thing i mean that seems like a pretty high density project but as i said to mr. johnson when i don't don't get me wrong even if you had proposed six or eight little brick houses back in there that match the neighborhood there's still be
- 37:47[SPEAKER_06]: But when people hear 136 units, they think one thing, low income housing, right?
- 37:53[SPEAKER_06]: That's what they think.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_06]: Whether it is or not, I don't know.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_06]: And traffic, it's like they're going to run over our children.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_06]: And I would obviously create more traffic in the neighborhood.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_06]: And what has been a quiet neighborhood for years and years?
- 38:09[SPEAKER_06]: So I don't know.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_06]: somebody said shopping cart brigade headed to butterfield and what that means uh... these are all the people in that neighborhood shot shop at the pigly wiggly uh... somebody takes it on a blame on that's a nice quiet neighborhood would want all that crap build around them uh... yeah i don't really know i mean it's uh...
- 38:46[SPEAKER_11]: early morning stabbing on factory street oh is that you know i better look that up i apparently it's on the channel seven website will take this call the meantime good afternoon you're on the air uh... i'm i live in the neighborhood where j johnson is planning on maybe asking for his own change and it's the worst idea i've ever heard of really for this entire area the infrastructure is not going to support it
- 39:16[SPEAKER_11]: The board building was there for, I forgot how many years I can't remember when it closed last, but it was always full of mold, it flooded, there was a constant problem and if I ever moved in a house or an apartment over there, I sure, I couldn't want to live on the first floor.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_11]: No matter what happens, you're right next door to be for betters, for starters, and it's always wet.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_11]: when it rains really, really hard on occasion, either the storm sewer system actually collapses or the lids blow off the brakes because the water runs through so fast and a lot of it is not just because the drainage isn't proper, it was never put in proper and this neighborhood was built 1670 and maybe as long as 80 but definitely 67 years old it was put
- 40:10[SPEAKER_11]: Well, you're just going to make a bigger problem on top of a problem.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_06]: Now, I will say that Mr. Johnson says part of this project would include monies to repair all of that sewer problem.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_11]: Maybe if you read closely, they're talking about working with the county to maybe get a grant to take care of it.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_11]: And the other big thing right now,
- 40:38[SPEAKER_11]: is the zone change, too, that when you make a residential zone, everybody's happy in a residential zone.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_11]: People move from developmental districts into residential zones for a reason.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_11]: And that is a lot of the problem.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_11]: And if you're going to zone and do that, why are you going to change your back to something you've never used before?
- 41:00[SPEAKER_06]: All right, I agree.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_06]: When I first read the headline, I thought, boy, that's an ambitious use of that land.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, there's no way that 17 buildings will fit, even it might look good on paper.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_11]: But if you did the math and the division, you have 17 buildings in the end on Sunday.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_06]: The funny thing about this is, when did you hear about it?
- 41:24[SPEAKER_11]: Yesterday morning, I was looking on Newstruckie and I saw a red about it on Newstruckie.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_11]: It was in yesterday's paper and the neighbors, several neighbors, all through this area,
- 41:36[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, well, I've got that, but it strikes me as strange that there wasn't a roll-out of this some time ago before it gets to go before the...
- 41:44[SPEAKER_11]: In the paper, it said that they had become, we're working on it with the architect and with the city planner and engineer since January, and if the city planner and engineer think it's a good job, they need to go back to college, because it's absolutely not.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_11]: And no matter what they try and do, we're going to take up, there's a reason that's
- 42:05[SPEAKER_06]: Well, you're frankly, if, especially the planners, I've been around enough zone changes, proposed zone changes, remember, they wanted to change one parcel so that McDonald's could move in and they went nuts over that, and what do they have now in old garage?
- 42:22[SPEAKER_11]: Remember that, but now they have a bar.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_06]: Well, a bar across the street and then where the McDonald's would have been is just a
- 42:35[SPEAKER_06]: Well, that's good.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_06]: I'm glad you like it.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_11]: But those of us said, yeah, McDonald's.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, we had people.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_06]: We had one council member who said, I don't, yeah, you said, I don't want McDonald's because I don't approve of the menu.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, my God.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_11]: So it's not that you, it's not the apartment.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_11]: It's not anything like that.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_11]: It's like they've already owned it.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_11]: There is probably a, what of apartments in the town in town now if you look at it or drum this not expanding anymore.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_15]: Right.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_11]: you six units except that the original 801s are oh my gosh 40 years old.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, yeah, they are old, yeah.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_11]: So, but I don't think if you look, you find people who are buying a pouches within half an hour of when they go on sale over here and they're moving out of small-time apartment buildings.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_06]: Right, those are cute little houses and I'm sure a lot
- 43:32[SPEAKER_06]: Nice, and like I said, if somebody were putting, you know, some more of that type of house back in that area, that'd be fine, but at least with me, but, you know, somebody would object to that.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_06]: If some, there are some people who, if one house went up, they'd be mad as hell.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_11]: Well, the original plan I think was, and I'm sure for Selban at, from the school district, and his original plan, as I remember was to put six to ten single family housing units there.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_11]: which went fine.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_11]: But as time went on, nothing was ever built and Skuddlebot came around that no, they couldn't build there because of the infrastructure and the flooding problems and the fact that you couldn't get utilities back in there.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_11]: And I think of people took their heads out of their financial pockets and looked, they'd find out there's probably a reason why there's only three houses on the north side of that street and nothing on the
- 44:32[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_06]: Gotcha.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_11]: There's a reason it's a dead end.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_11]: We'll put it that way.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_06]: No, I kind of agree with you.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, I think it's You know, I think if this had been sort of floated earlier.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, you have to even if you've gone around and talked to the neighbors first.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_11]: That's part of it.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_11]: Some people will be wise enough, and they'll go and say, hey, I have this idea, you haven't ever heard meeting and see how it'll go, but this all became public and it's like weird.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_11]: It's also weird in that the city just took a ton of property off the tax rules for their own use, and that property I think they just bought from Drake Johnson.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_11]: And one of the arguments for this apartment complex was that, oh, it would put it back and put money back into the tax rules.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_11]: Well, there's a certain amount of money in the tax roll now, if Mr. Persol is paying his taxes.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_06]: Well, yeah, I'm sure, and I'm sure they'd want a pilot agreement.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_06]: Everybody does, but Sure.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_11]: And then you're not any further ahead.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_11]: You're not any further ahead.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_11]: Okay.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_11]: If the swamp, and there's like one tiny little thing that might still be bedrocked at the old school building was on, and even it had major problems that I've learned under being in that building a few times after it
- 45:50[SPEAKER_11]: and they had to have everything open in fms going because the mold smell was so bad really?
- 45:55[SPEAKER_11]: no matter what you do with drainage to ensure whatever it's not going to help the fact that the land itself is a swamp yeah okay alright thank you for calling another thought for today is flags yes everybody's all upset because he can't raise a flag what's the matter with recognizing these groups with a public proclamation well they don't want that
- 46:21[SPEAKER_11]: and things like that, just to say, yeah, we acknowledge our group, we acknowledge our celebration.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_11]: But you don't necessarily need a flag in front of City Hall.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, they can hold their rally out there if they want it.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_06]: Is anyone good?
- 46:33[SPEAKER_11]: That's what I'm saying.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_11]: Have their rally in a public proclamation, or have the groups get together with the downtown business?
- 46:39[SPEAKER_06]: Do we have any Iranian-American here that can go out and celebrate?
- 46:43[SPEAKER_11]: We probably have several, but I think they probably are a little bit more quiet.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, all right.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_06]: Thank you.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, all right.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_06]: Have a good day.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_06]: Right now.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_06]: What do they call it?
- 46:57[SPEAKER_06]: Diaspora or something, group of people from one place.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_06]: Good afternoon, you're on the air.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_10]: Good afternoon.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_06]: Hey, what's up?
- 47:10[SPEAKER_10]: Well, I don't have an Irish flag.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_10]: You can put up good.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, good.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_10]: But I like that.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_10]: I like it.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_10]: It's orange.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_10]: It's almost like the Italian flag.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_06]: Very similar, yes.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_06]: There was somebody got stabbed on a factory street this morning.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_10]: What?
- 47:30[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_10]: What happened?
- 47:33[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_10]: Uh-oh.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_10]: Well, things seem to be relatively quiet here in lovely Alexander Bay in this neighborhood
- 47:47[SPEAKER_10]: Sometimes there's a bit of unsettling noise, you know, banging kids running around and almost falling on the ice and stuff like that so, you know, I guess you get those sort of things everywhere.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_06]: No doubt about it.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_10]: I heard it was going to get up to 50 degrees this week.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_06]: uh... yet there are dramatically warmer temperatures coming uh... i think by next weekend away well into the fifties and uh... maybe more the following week so it looks like winter is uh... winding down shall we say yes that's a good we put in it while i'm glad to hear that and if you participate in the polar dip over the weekend no uh... i watched it on the news and i barely could stay weeks for that
- 48:43[SPEAKER_10]: But no, I didn't purchase the paint at all.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_10]: I find that frightening actually.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, me too.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not into that.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_06]: You know?
- 48:55[SPEAKER_06]: So anyway, well, I'd be good.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_06]: Well, thank you Samantha for calling in.

- 53:32[SPEAKER_03]: They did a good business and I wish them well and also with the uh, former school building of the Butterfield Avenue.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_03]: The previous call about that she was right about the swamp and she's also right about the fact that when it rained in there they had the bad smell and mold and that's why they had pants on.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_03]: I was there one day so I had
- 53:52[SPEAKER_06]: I do read with a woman is at call box thank you thank you yeah i think there's a lot of issues it's one thing to go get engineering firm and get them to drop a little schematic of a neighborhood but uh...
- 54:05[SPEAKER_06]: uh... you know i think i know people in that neighborhood uh... uh... had uh... sewer and drainage drainage issue some of that to put uh... stop valves and there are a lateral to keep water from backing up into the basements uh... and i know that city assistant that and all of that but uh... i don't really know i mean it's uh... just looking at it from a pure political standpoint
- 54:35[SPEAKER_06]: I don't see it passing.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_06]: They're gonna, you know, it's the pressure will be intense.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_06]: And then the, you got this planning board too.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_06]: A planning commission.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_06]: I don't agree with the council giving up authority over site plan approval.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_06]: I just don't agree with it.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_06]: You know, we give up too much to the unelected elites.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_06]: Good afternoon, you're on the air.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_09]: question about the flags I'm going to say no no and no and that's based on the vote they just took at the west council meeting and I think the south sadly became a son really great points and I hope that she shows up at city council that's it.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_06]: Hi thank you.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah I mean she was very calm and her demeanor and laid it out that's the person if you want if the opposition wants a spokesperson she'd be
- 55:34[SPEAKER_06]: Not somebody who's up there screaming and yelling and saying, oh, great, great, man, they've never, you know, nobody wants to hear that.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_06]: You all know what it was.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, Jake's a prince of a guy.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_06]: And, you know, we certainly don't a lot of things here in town.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_06]: He could take over the title as most controversial developer.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_06]: 755-1240 the phone number if you'd like to give us a call to be on the show of shows and uh... got a couple of minutes left women had really any comments on the uh... the effort over there and uh... ran but that's that's all right other people they discuss that all day on cable
- 56:33[SPEAKER_06]: uh... let's see what's going on uh... when do we spring forward it's this weekend the eight saturday night stupid but we still do it uh... there's a story about the state controller has a sleazy office culture well that's too bad anybody you know there's places you can go for that you know
- 57:03[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know what, I always found an apple there to be a decent guy and I can't imagine he has a toxic atmosphere in his office.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_06]: You know, somebody sees a cartoon or something, they go nuts and then they make a case out of it because you can get money out of it.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_19]: that's only why they couldn't build them in the old mercy.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_19]: Plot there, they're at the water insurers already there, and they're reading a middle of the downtown.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_19]: They'd be, I'll take care of for everything.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_06]: Well, you know, that's kind of a good idea.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know what, a lot of times these projects revolve around who owned the property.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_06]: I think didn't mark per cell owned that, and he sold it to Mr. Johnson.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_06]: So, and there was one parcel that was in ProBad or something like that, I don't know.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_06]: But I think that's an interesting idea, somebody should certainly look at that mercy side.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_06]: I think there's real opportunity there.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know how much they want for it, pyramid company, but it's an interesting suggestion, okay?
- 58:25[SPEAKER_06]: a lot of ideas come forth on the hotline but you know you can't tell people what where to do what they want to do but you know as far as a property that uh... apparently one of the hooks on this is this money from the county in a city with match it and all of that i'm sure the city has the money to match anything yeah i don't know
- 58:56[SPEAKER_06]: Yep.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_06]: See what they say in.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe I take a Monday night off.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_06]: But I guess if it's going to be as raucous as we're led to believe.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_06]: Yep.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_06]: Anyway.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_06]: Well, I guess that's the end of our show.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_06]: Well, may God protect our troops who are in harm's way overseas
- 59:27[SPEAKER_06]: may you all have a good day to go uncorrile the end what if uh... five o'clock today with the live at five shows is he trying to get money back from somebody there's something here about alone i don't know what to solve about i really don't i'll have to look at up somewhere but anyway maybe he'll come on here sometime in explain it in any event you're listening to the hotline and of course as you do every day you're doing it on a community broadcast station
- 59:52[SPEAKER_06]: We are AM-1240, we're in Watertown, New York.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_06]: The time is 1 o'clock, don't come.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_06]: CBS News is next, you have a good day, right?
