- 0:00Speaker 1: The content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be suitable for
- 0:02Speaker 1: all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. The World's legion poet,
- 0:13Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriot's Unfiltered. I said, second, what would you
- 0:19Speaker 1: give for him? I don't know what would you give
- 0:21Speaker 1: for Yeah, look, Barth will tell you I have recency bias.
- 0:26Speaker 1: If I watched your film yesterday, you're my favorite player.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I want to figure out how they how they break up.
- 0:31Speaker 1: You know, you ruined my train of thought there, Paul.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I think my line was I was like, oh, what's
- 0:37Speaker 1: the book about? And I was like Africa, And I'm like,
- 0:39Speaker 1: it's very broad generally Africa. You went to Africa for
- 0:43Speaker 1: two weeks, and so we decided he knew enough to
- 0:45Speaker 1: write a book. Look look at for enough. Paul the Serengetti,
- 0:48Speaker 1: a young bald Rhode Island. Somehow somebody got their hands
- 0:52Speaker 1: on excerpts and she's eggs exerts. Yeah. Every week for
- 0:57Speaker 1: the pregame show, you take a picture of the studio, Right,
- 1:00Speaker 1: did you ever think it's a watermarket? No? All right, Josh,
- 1:04Speaker 1: you're next on Patriots on Talented. I mean Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:07Speaker 1: What this is? Patriot's Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan. All Right,
- 1:13Speaker 1: welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here at Gilett's Stadium,
- 1:18Speaker 1: and we've got a busy show in a full studio.
- 1:21Speaker 1: It's Deuce, It's to Marrow, It's Alex, It's Alex, it's Fred,
- 1:25Speaker 1: It's Matt. No, Paul. Paul was so upset with the
- 1:29Speaker 1: Jujus Miss Schuster signing and the release of Jacobe Myers
- 1:33Speaker 1: he said, I'm not coming in anymore protea. So who's
- 1:36Speaker 1: going to play Paul today? Well, I think you guys
- 1:38Speaker 1: are because Evan's sitting in his seat with a diapepsi
- 1:40Speaker 1: and you ordered a small pepperoni, So Philly Paul is
- 1:43Speaker 1: well represented. It's it's when I say large shoes, I mean,
- 1:50Speaker 1: I'm only kidding. That's good though, He'll only have to
- 1:52Speaker 1: listen to the first part of the show to know
- 1:53Speaker 1: when we were making fun of him. Is that him?
- 2:00Speaker 1: So anyway, so we've got a lot to talk about, um,
- 2:03Speaker 1: the release of Jacobe Myers, the signing of Juju Smith Schuster, uh,
- 2:08Speaker 1: stuff going around the league with uh, you know, Aaron
- 2:12Speaker 1: Rodgers still not you know, officially signed with the Jets.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yet all of that, Um, we signed a running back
- 2:18Speaker 1: from Jacksonville, um who um looks to be a pretty
- 2:22Speaker 1: good player. Yeah, bowling ball. Yeah, And a lot of
- 2:26Speaker 1: people are assuming that, you know, means the end of
- 2:28Speaker 1: the Damien Harris era. Uh so we'll talk about all
- 2:32Speaker 1: of it. Um, So anyone want to just kick yea,
- 2:36Speaker 1: let's talk say that Smith schustertime. I don't want to
- 2:41Speaker 1: write JSS. I'm on JSSA. I can't write Smith. Does
- 2:44Speaker 1: he like to be called JSS? Are you making that up?
- 2:47Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm assuming he doesn't like to be
- 2:49Speaker 1: called TikTok. Yeah. So so okay, go ahead. I'm just
- 2:54Speaker 1: gonna say I like the signing. I like them. I
- 2:56Speaker 1: mean I'm not. I wasn't world's familiar with Juju Smith
- 2:59Speaker 1: Schuster other than name. Yesterday just jumped in started watching them.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I mean, look, bottom line, he's better than Jacoby Myers.
- 3:05Speaker 1: He's better than him. I mean, he's just he's a
- 3:07Speaker 1: talented receiver. He is a receiver. I love Jacoby and
- 3:10Speaker 1: it's hard for me to, you know, say this's a receiver.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Come on, but he was a quarterback and there's just
- 3:15Speaker 1: something about him that was always there's something about him
- 3:17Speaker 1: that has just never to me looked like a full NFL.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I mean, he didn't like him being the most reliable receiver.
- 3:25Speaker 1: He was a reliable absolutely, But I just I look
- 3:29Speaker 1: at you. This is a this is a real deal
- 3:31Speaker 1: wide receiver, who can get catches out, you know, yards
- 3:34Speaker 1: after the catch, who has played in big games, who
- 3:37Speaker 1: has had I mean, you'll line up their production. It's
- 3:39Speaker 1: it's way more. Look, I'm not gonna I have concerns
- 3:41Speaker 1: about him. I'm not gonna say that, oh, this is
- 3:43Speaker 1: a dream signing. They need to do more. But I
- 3:45Speaker 1: think a one for one swap in terms of they're
- 3:47Speaker 1: the same age, it's a good contract. He has a
- 3:50Speaker 1: higher ceiling than Jacoby does. I think you factor all
- 3:52Speaker 1: those things. I think they upgraded their opense with this move.
- 3:55Speaker 1: A lot. Of course, everything you're saying true about the
- 3:57Speaker 1: same age, similar contract, all that stuff. But I think
- 4:01Speaker 1: the zeitgeist out there is that it's a it's a
- 4:03Speaker 1: very lateral move. And if you're gonna do that, why
- 4:06Speaker 1: not keep the guy who knows the system, knows Matt
- 4:08Speaker 1: Jones and you know, and reward your own guy that
- 4:11Speaker 1: you brought up as an undrafted move, what you know,
- 4:15Speaker 1: and you know, reward the guy that you brought in
- 4:17Speaker 1: as araft of free agent. You know, they talk about
- 4:20Speaker 1: the Patriots can't develop wide receivers. They did and then
- 4:23Speaker 1: they get rid of them. Yeah, but I still think
- 4:26Speaker 1: that this is this is a move they had to make.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And and I'm gonna be honest, like that's not like, oh,
- 4:30Speaker 1: this is the perfect guy. Like I've been saying all offseason,
- 4:32Speaker 1: I want somebody who's quick on the inside. I don't
- 4:34Speaker 1: really see Juju Smith Schuster is a quick guy. Um,
- 4:37Speaker 1: but I think he can do what they need. And
- 4:39Speaker 1: you know, you look at his high end production. Now.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I know he hasn't gotten back to there, but he
- 4:42Speaker 1: certainly had a productive year last year with Patrick Mahomes.
- 4:45Speaker 1: And I know we'll talk plenty about like, well, what's
- 4:47Speaker 1: he gonna do with mac if this is what he
- 4:48Speaker 1: did with Patrick Mahomes. But I just look at it
- 4:50Speaker 1: when you've just watched this guy play, he's he's a
- 4:53Speaker 1: better football player than Jacobe was. And and I think
- 4:55Speaker 1: ultimately that's the move they had to make. I think
- 4:57Speaker 1: you saw what you were gonna got kind of kind
- 4:59Speaker 1: of get out of Jacoby so you think it's an upgrade.
- 5:02Speaker 1: I do. I mean, I have Evan, I know you
- 5:04Speaker 1: think it's an upgrade without question. Okay, Tamara, she has
- 5:08Speaker 1: concerns too, Go ahead, go ahead, just say I'm I'm
- 5:11Speaker 1: in between. Like I Well, one, I really liked Juju
- 5:13Speaker 1: because he's a former Steeler, obviously, and so I have
- 5:16Speaker 1: been watching him since he was playing there with Big Ben,
- 5:19Speaker 1: and I really liked how explosive he was and he
- 5:21Speaker 1: was a great addition to their offense obviously. But I'm
- 5:25Speaker 1: still kind of in the notion that, Okay, Jacoby, like
- 5:28Speaker 1: I really liked him. He was reliable, he was consistent,
- 5:31Speaker 1: he was max guy, and I think we could have
- 5:32Speaker 1: kept him and added other things. But I do think
- 5:36Speaker 1: that the explosiveness that Juju brings is going to be
- 5:39Speaker 1: electric for this offense. And I think that hopefully, you know,
- 5:42Speaker 1: Evan said he was pushing for someone who's going to
- 5:44Speaker 1: get a thousand yards you know, a season. I think
- 5:46Speaker 1: that Juju could be that guy. But they still need
- 5:48Speaker 1: to add more. Alex, I feel like I might be
- 5:51Speaker 1: Paul today, like pessimistic Paul. I am on the record
- 5:55Speaker 1: on this show saying I don't really want him to
- 5:58Speaker 1: come here, beyond the optics, beyond the optics of Jude
- 6:03Speaker 1: on last night tweeting at Juju's arch nemesis, beyond the
- 6:06Speaker 1: optics of Jacoby tweeting like one of the classiest players,
- 6:10Speaker 1: Jacoby tweeting he's very clearly salty. Beyond it getting leaked
- 6:15Speaker 1: at Like the money was so weird when it got
- 6:17Speaker 1: leaked because it made it seem like it was the
- 6:19Speaker 1: exact same contract as Jacoby too. That's like just strange.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I think Jacoby got more guaranteed according to but then
- 6:27Speaker 1: now they're saying Jacoby's deal is really kind of a
- 6:29Speaker 1: one out. I don't know. I just feel like I
- 6:33Speaker 1: don't love like I feel like we did the same
- 6:35Speaker 1: thing with Aguil or like give a guy money after
- 6:37Speaker 1: his prove it deal. Yeah, and I don't love bringing
- 6:41Speaker 1: in another player, that was for sure, But it's still
- 6:45Speaker 1: just like we're in the To me, we're in the
- 6:47Speaker 1: same situation we were in. We're bringing now someone in who,
- 6:51Speaker 1: like I don't know Juju. I don't want to, like
- 6:54Speaker 1: on a personal level to say anything about like his
- 6:57Speaker 1: character or him being a distraction. But I've worked with
- 7:00Speaker 1: Kendrick Bourne and if Kendrick was an issue last year. Why,
- 7:04Speaker 1: I just I don't get it. I think it's all reasonable,
- 7:06Speaker 1: and I mean, and another thing just to put before.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I'm sure Evan jumps in. I just like the ball
- 7:10Speaker 1: security I think is a little bit of an issue
- 7:12Speaker 1: with him, and you talk about Jacoby's reliability, just you know,
- 7:14Speaker 1: a point maybe in Jacoby's favor as far as the
- 7:16Speaker 1: argument goes, three fumbles you know last year, it's just
- 7:18Speaker 1: I mean, that's something that you know, you have to
- 7:20Speaker 1: be aware of. I think, is you're gonna have drops,
- 7:21Speaker 1: is you're gonna have ball security issues, that's a concern.
- 7:24Speaker 1: And we've been around so long jay career. Jacoby's got
- 7:29Speaker 1: great hands, so obviously he's not somebody that drops a
- 7:31Speaker 1: lot of passes. But three drops one hundred targets is
- 7:33Speaker 1: not exactly dropping the ball a lot then. I mean
- 7:37Speaker 1: something we also didn't talk about time last year where
- 7:39Speaker 1: mondre Stevenson lost the ball a lot more than like
- 7:41Speaker 1: we want. I mean, the whole team lost the ball
- 7:43Speaker 1: more than they traditionally do. So I think that as
- 7:45Speaker 1: a whole everybody needs to tighten that up. Yeah, I
- 7:47Speaker 1: think you just try to take it, take it all
- 7:48Speaker 1: in you know, I mean it's not easy. We all
- 7:50Speaker 1: love Jacoby and I mean it hurts when you see
- 7:53Speaker 1: him when he when he tweets cold World. I mean,
- 7:55Speaker 1: you know you like the guy. You like the guy personally.
- 7:57Speaker 1: You don't like the fact that that the team is
- 7:59Speaker 1: a cold world. Of course it is, but you know,
- 8:01Speaker 1: it doesn't make it right. It doesn't make you I
- 8:03Speaker 1: mean you have to enjoy it and you have to
- 8:04Speaker 1: be like, oh whatever, goodbye Jacoby Myers. But well, do
- 8:07Speaker 1: you hear Devin what he said, um when they interviewed
- 8:11Speaker 1: him on I think it was then shocked. Yeah, yeah,
- 8:13Speaker 1: he was shocked. You know he said, as far as
- 8:16Speaker 1: I know, he wanted to be here, he wanted to stay. Yeah,
- 8:19Speaker 1: you know, this isn't the boy scouts. I'm just sicking,
- 8:23Speaker 1: Like I hear it all the time about Jacoby. Oh
- 8:27Speaker 1: he's so reliable, he was such a great teammate. Does
- 8:30Speaker 1: that win you football games? Does being a reliable great
- 8:33Speaker 1: teammate win you football games? When? When when was being
- 8:36Speaker 1: reliable and a good teammate not good? It's not that
- 8:39Speaker 1: it's not good, it's just what does he do on
- 8:42Speaker 1: the field? Like what what? Like? What's he put on tape,
- 8:45Speaker 1: Like if you watched you, if you watch Juju and
- 8:47Speaker 1: you watched Jacobe and you think that they're comparable players,
- 8:51Speaker 1: then you're just not watching the same games that I am. No,
- 8:53Speaker 1: But I do think it's not just about what is
- 8:56Speaker 1: on the tape. It's about what kind of fit is
- 8:58Speaker 1: this person in our lock I mean, I do think
- 8:59Speaker 1: that the is our issues when you're trying to build
- 9:01Speaker 1: a team. It's not just hey, this guy fits in
- 9:03Speaker 1: perfectly as far as what our playbook is, you know
- 9:05Speaker 1: it does there has to be a locker room fit.
- 9:07Speaker 1: And think so too. I mean, I'm not going to
- 9:09Speaker 1: say that that is the biggest thing. And certainly, you know,
- 9:11Speaker 1: looking at Juju Smith Schuster's body type and skill set
- 9:15Speaker 1: and all those things that when I look at those
- 9:17Speaker 1: two players, I say, this is more of the direction
- 9:19Speaker 1: they needed to go. I don't think it's a slam dunk.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I still think they need a complimentary, you know, piece
- 9:23Speaker 1: on the outside and another maybe tight end to you know,
- 9:26Speaker 1: work in so that they have other targets. But I
- 9:29Speaker 1: like the move. I don't like a lot of the
- 9:30Speaker 1: moves they've made, but I like this. I'm not you know,
- 9:34Speaker 1: you know, ready to hand in my homwork card yet.
- 9:37Speaker 1: So you know, Like, so I'm fine with Smith Schuster,
- 9:42Speaker 1: you know, but I like Myers and I think I
- 9:45Speaker 1: think he's getting a short you know, he's getting a
- 9:48Speaker 1: little disrespect here, I think from a lot of Patriots
- 9:50Speaker 1: fans for what he You know, again, I said this
- 9:53Speaker 1: on Tuesday, we talk about Matt Jones. Well, yeah, it
- 9:56Speaker 1: was a bad situation with Matt Patricia and all. But
- 9:58Speaker 1: but he's got to be a leader. He's got to
- 10:00Speaker 1: rise above it and he's got to figure out a
- 10:02Speaker 1: way to produce. You know. Yeah, well that's exactly what
- 10:06Speaker 1: Myers did. That's exactly what he did. I will say
- 10:09Speaker 1: for one point that we did talk about on Tuesday
- 10:11Speaker 1: was um myers speed and like his yards after catch.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I do think when you do compare those two, Jujus
- 10:17Speaker 1: does bring you're like the same. You can't be honest
- 10:20Speaker 1: and not agree with that. Yeah, you can't be honest.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Did not agree with if you if you said I
- 10:24Speaker 1: would describe Juju as from a skill set standpoint, he's
- 10:28Speaker 1: Jacobe Myers with the ability to run with the football.
- 10:31Speaker 1: There you go. I don't know why that would like
- 10:34Speaker 1: the same slot receiver but one is like a better
- 10:37Speaker 1: route runner and the other is Juju. I just I
- 10:41Speaker 1: just don't know about that. Like I go watch Juju
- 10:44Speaker 1: run whip routes against guys yesterday when I'm watch in
- 10:47Speaker 1: his film and he's shaking guys out of his shoes
- 10:49Speaker 1: just like Jacoby would, and then he's running with the
- 10:51Speaker 1: football fifteen yards down the sideline after the fact, and
- 10:54Speaker 1: they just don't have that player in Jacoby Myers, and
- 10:58Speaker 1: I just I go back to the same thing. I
- 11:01Speaker 1: just don't know what, Like what what do you guys want?
- 11:04Speaker 1: Like what is what does the fan base want? A plan?
- 11:07Speaker 1: Because honestly, just the plan have we had any sense
- 11:11Speaker 1: Brady has left? I don't know. I'm going to be pessimistic, Alex,
- 11:14Speaker 1: all right, that's I just but like I'm sorry, Like
- 11:16Speaker 1: I agree. I understand where you're coming from totally, I
- 11:18Speaker 1: really do. They're not going to tell you the plan, okay,
- 11:21Speaker 1: so that I don't need to know the plan. I
- 11:23Speaker 1: just need to see that it's happening and in progress
- 11:26Speaker 1: and pay let's patch. Ju is the number two receiver,
- 11:30Speaker 1: and I still think we're in the same place we
- 11:32Speaker 1: were before though everyone that, okay, does everyone agree that, okay,
- 11:38Speaker 1: Shuster is here, but you need more yes, yeah, yeah,
- 11:42Speaker 1: And do we all agree that the More has to
- 11:45Speaker 1: be a wide receiver or would we be okay with
- 11:47Speaker 1: the More being a really good tight end. I was
- 11:50Speaker 1: interested in the report of they were talking reportedly talking
- 11:54Speaker 1: to Obi j and Juju. I thought that was interesting
- 11:57Speaker 1: and Jerry Judy Yeah, and it's like, yeah, I'm like,
- 12:00Speaker 1: what are the thoughts if it was Obj Andrew Juty.
- 12:04Speaker 1: So they want Obj, I'm just gonna put it out there.
- 12:07Speaker 1: They want Odell. They've wanted O'Dell for a couple of
- 12:09Speaker 1: years now. I think the biggest issue that they have
- 12:11Speaker 1: with Odell is that O'Dell wants to play with a
- 12:13Speaker 1: good quarterback. Odell wants to play with somebody that's an
- 12:17Speaker 1: established quarterback that can go out there and they can
- 12:20Speaker 1: say we're super Bowl contenders. You know, Dallas as a
- 12:23Speaker 1: team that's hot on Odell right now as well. I
- 12:25Speaker 1: think he's always had a liking to maybe playing in
- 12:28Speaker 1: Buffalo or Kansas City as well. You know, going to
- 12:31Speaker 1: places where I can say I have an MVP caliber
- 12:35Speaker 1: quarterback is important to him. But the Patriots were in
- 12:38Speaker 1: on him last year at when he got released by Cleveland.
- 12:41Speaker 1: They went to his workout this year. They've been in
- 12:43Speaker 1: on him the entire time this year, so they would
- 12:46Speaker 1: love to have him. I just think that are they
- 12:48Speaker 1: going to overpay to get over the fact that you're
- 12:52Speaker 1: gonna have to come here and prove it with mac
- 12:54Speaker 1: Jones versus going someplace where it's kind of a ready
- 12:57Speaker 1: made situation. I will say, I'm wondering if they'll be
- 13:00Speaker 1: able to get away with not paying him as much
- 13:02Speaker 1: at least this first year, until you make sure that
- 13:04Speaker 1: he's ready to go. Because obviously they did go watch
- 13:06Speaker 1: him work out in Arizona, but like you haven't seen him.
- 13:10Speaker 1: There's so many questions. Yeah, there's so many questions, like sure,
- 13:12Speaker 1: we saw that he could run and you know all
- 13:14Speaker 1: those things, but it's difference between doing that workout and
- 13:17Speaker 1: actually being in football shape and playing in a game.
- 13:19Speaker 1: So I'm wondering if maybe they can, like first year,
- 13:22Speaker 1: give him a certain amount of money and then if
- 13:23Speaker 1: you know, obviously if he produces, then give him more. Yeah,
- 13:25Speaker 1: I mean, ob j would you talk about complimentary? He
- 13:28Speaker 1: can play any wide receiver position, um, you know, so
- 13:32Speaker 1: he could be that outside guy. He could actually I've
- 13:35Speaker 1: seen him line up in the slot and be successful. Um,
- 13:38Speaker 1: you know he's he can do it all. Um, where
- 13:42Speaker 1: is he in his career? That's a question, it's a question.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I mean he's still what thirty. I mean, he's not.
- 13:47Speaker 1: You know, it's not like, hey, we're talking about thirty
- 13:48Speaker 1: six year old O B J and trying to squeeze
- 13:50Speaker 1: it out. I mean, I think you put those two
- 13:52Speaker 1: guys together, you're really talking and I and I don't
- 13:54Speaker 1: think you can rule out you know, it's it's just
- 13:55Speaker 1: it makes DeVante Parker more useful. It maybe opens things
- 13:58Speaker 1: up for Kendrick Bourne to do some up. You know,
- 14:00Speaker 1: you just have more options. I mean, I said to Evan,
- 14:02Speaker 1: and we've had plenty of conversations about Quentin Johnson. You know,
- 14:05Speaker 1: I'm not the biggest fan of him, but I at
- 14:07Speaker 1: least look now and say, if you put him with
- 14:10Speaker 1: Juju in this group, like you kind of got maybe
- 14:13Speaker 1: the makings of something there. Yeah, it's a ways to go.
- 14:16Speaker 1: And I think we're just starting to see them. They're
- 14:18Speaker 1: starting to make some moves. I mean obviously they you know,
- 14:20Speaker 1: a couple other ones, Mac Wilson rolling in, I mean
- 14:22Speaker 1: those you know, resigning taking care of your own guys.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I gotta do that too. You gotta do it. And
- 14:26Speaker 1: I mean to Alex's point of like, you know, what's
- 14:28Speaker 1: the plan? You know, I don't love the fact that
- 14:30Speaker 1: a lot of these guys are one year deals, and
- 14:32Speaker 1: you know, you're just like, all right, we're gonna just
- 14:33Speaker 1: keep kicking the can down the road with guys like
- 14:35Speaker 1: McMillan and Wilson. And you know, of course a segment
- 14:38Speaker 1: of the fan base is gonna get intrigued with all right,
- 14:40Speaker 1: are they gonna go more mobile? You know, last year
- 14:43Speaker 1: when you had those two guys, everyone thought these grand changes,
- 14:45Speaker 1: and now I don't know if anyone's really expecting that there.
- 14:47Speaker 1: You know. So I think that they're doing a pretty
- 14:49Speaker 1: good job so far, but they still need that big piece.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I'm not as depressed as I was Tuesday when I
- 14:54Speaker 1: felt like the world was falling apart. But I gotta
- 14:57Speaker 1: say too, I really like that they brought you Brull
- 14:59Speaker 1: Peppers back. He's I know, he's a personal favorite of mine,
- 15:01Speaker 1: but I just like, how so the running back what's
- 15:03Speaker 1: his name for, James, James, James Robinson. They paid him
- 15:06Speaker 1: some money two for eight I think, yes, it's not
- 15:11Speaker 1: a real Yeah, I'm sure. So his base values two
- 15:14Speaker 1: for four, Yeah, okay, I think I think that's incentives.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I think that's another one kind of like OBJ where
- 15:19Speaker 1: you're kind of just hoping he gets back to prime form.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Like James Robinson when he came into the league, he
- 15:24Speaker 1: had over a thousand yards rushing as a rookie. I
- 15:26Speaker 1: think the Jackson is so dirty too in a way
- 15:29Speaker 1: to be fair, To be fair, I mean, he was
- 15:31Speaker 1: there when a certain coach was there so exactly, so
- 15:34Speaker 1: it's like, you know, you want to you want to
- 15:37Speaker 1: charge on the table. It's like he tore his achilles.
- 15:39Speaker 1: He had that person as a coach. Then he was
- 15:41Speaker 1: dealing with some neat issues again. So I'm hoping that,
- 15:43Speaker 1: you know, his potential turns into production. And you know,
- 15:46Speaker 1: like Patriots fans get all riled up because every time
- 15:49Speaker 1: they make a signing like him, Oh, you know, the
- 15:52Speaker 1: expectation is like the Patriots think he's gonna make it
- 15:54Speaker 1: be a starter. That's not always the case. We're going
- 15:58Speaker 1: to have to have ninety guys camp. Half of them
- 16:01Speaker 1: aren't even going to make the team about you know,
- 16:03Speaker 1: so this happens every year with every team where you're
- 16:06Speaker 1: filling out that camp roster with guys who you take
- 16:10Speaker 1: a shot on the guy maybe he is back and
- 16:13Speaker 1: can help. Yeah, you know, um, you know, and Ramandra
- 16:16Speaker 1: can't like go every single down like you want someone
- 16:18Speaker 1: who can compliment him. It's like, we're not asking James
- 16:21Speaker 1: Robinson to come out here and be the next you know,
- 16:23Speaker 1: Ezekiel Elliott and his prime. We're not expecting that. Let
- 16:26Speaker 1: him battle it out with Time Montgomery, you know, and
- 16:29Speaker 1: strong and Harris are strong and Kevin Harris, what are
- 16:31Speaker 1: they going to look like when they come back in
- 16:33Speaker 1: year two? I mean either one of them set the
- 16:34Speaker 1: world on fire last year, So you need some of
- 16:36Speaker 1: that depth. Always say they overstocked the running back position.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Somebody's gonna get hurt too, you know what's gonna happen. Yeah,
- 16:41Speaker 1: So like every every signing that you see during the
- 16:45Speaker 1: offseason doesn't mean the Patriots expect this person to be
- 16:48Speaker 1: a starter. A lot of it is let's see what
- 16:51Speaker 1: you're doing camp. Yeah, you know, I think that's what's
- 16:53Speaker 1: hard to Fred is that, like, and I get everybody's
- 16:55Speaker 1: like anxious about wanting to get the star players and
- 16:57Speaker 1: when they sign these kind of no name guys. It's
- 17:00Speaker 1: frustrating to people, but I mean, I'm gonna, I'm gonna,
- 17:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna tee Evan up because I think that it's
- 17:05Speaker 1: a good like you hit on gems that way, Like
- 17:07Speaker 1: you have to kind of do that, Like nobody care
- 17:08Speaker 1: when you brought rob Nikovich in as a long snapper.
- 17:11Speaker 1: But I'm not saying that you can build an entire
- 17:13Speaker 1: team that way, but you have to take those kind
- 17:15Speaker 1: of chances on guys like Robinson who's coming off and
- 17:18Speaker 1: achilles injury and didn't really have great production last year.
- 17:21Speaker 1: And you know, Evan, I'll let you go on on
- 17:23Speaker 1: the on the tackle that they got from the Bronchos
- 17:24Speaker 1: who was originally here, so they liked them, they got
- 17:27Speaker 1: rid of them, um, you know, early before training camp.
- 17:29Speaker 1: But you know this, it's guys like that. I know
- 17:31Speaker 1: it's not sexy. I know it makes people mad. You
- 17:33Speaker 1: haven't heard of the guy, but you know a guy
- 17:35Speaker 1: who has some potential and maybe maybe you find a
- 17:38Speaker 1: gem and all of a sudden, you're your left tackle
- 17:40Speaker 1: is on a manageable two year deal and now you're set.
- 17:42Speaker 1: So I just I think you can't over criticize them
- 17:46Speaker 1: about some of those moves. I think you have to
- 17:47Speaker 1: make those kind of moves absolutely. I always have and
- 17:51Speaker 1: they always will. I feel like I'm in such a
- 17:53Speaker 1: minority with those two though. With James Robinson and I
- 17:56Speaker 1: love Juju. I love that signing. I'll admit on bias.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I saw him play live at US See a bunch
- 18:00Speaker 1: of times when I was out in LA and I
- 18:03Speaker 1: really love everything about his game. I thought he was
- 18:05Speaker 1: a fit for here back in the twenty seventeen draft,
- 18:08Speaker 1: and they passed on him, and I was disappointed. I
- 18:11Speaker 1: don't really like the James Robinson signing. I'm not gonna
- 18:13Speaker 1: lie I. Coming off Achilles injuries running backs, the track
- 18:17Speaker 1: record there is very, very poor of guys actually being
- 18:20Speaker 1: able to at that position, in particular being able to
- 18:23Speaker 1: bounce back from that injury. And I think that all
- 18:26Speaker 1: the opportunity in the world at that position behind Remondrate
- 18:29Speaker 1: should go to Pierre Strong. Every single snap in camp,
- 18:32Speaker 1: every single touch that Remondra doesn't get, I want to
- 18:35Speaker 1: see Pierre Strong with the football because he's somebody that
- 18:38Speaker 1: brings legitimate home run speed, like a guy that can
- 18:42Speaker 1: take a run and go forty five fifty yards with
- 18:45Speaker 1: it to the house like we saw in Arizona for example,
- 18:48Speaker 1: when he went down the sideline and nearly housed it.
- 18:51Speaker 1: That's a guy that has something that they don't have,
- 18:54Speaker 1: which is real speed. Well, you know, you know OTAs,
- 18:58Speaker 1: you're going to start shortly and then you're going to
- 19:01Speaker 1: get into the you know, the May camps and everything
- 19:03Speaker 1: like that, and they'll probably they'll see Robinson, see where
- 19:06Speaker 1: he's at, and he may not even make it to Canada.
- 19:08Speaker 1: He may not, or oh he's back, and then all
- 19:12Speaker 1: of a sudden there's legitimate competition, and you have to
- 19:16Speaker 1: have competition on you within your team, you know, to
- 19:19Speaker 1: push guys. What I worry about is that I agree
- 19:22Speaker 1: with you one hundred percent, and it's a it's a
- 19:24Speaker 1: good piece to add for that purpose. But I think
- 19:26Speaker 1: sometimes they lean on steady reliability, especially at that position
- 19:32Speaker 1: where I think that they need to get explosive guys.
- 19:34Speaker 1: They need to get dynamic players that can make big plays.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And yeah, maybe Pierre Strong isn't as polished or isn't
- 19:41Speaker 1: as experienced that as a guy like James Robinson might
- 19:44Speaker 1: make some more mistakes that James Robinson might not make.
- 19:46Speaker 1: But for every mistake if he breaks one, you know,
- 19:49Speaker 1: that's something that they need on this office. I think
- 19:52Speaker 1: what they really need, whether it's Pierre Strong or Time
- 19:55Speaker 1: Montgomery or whoever, they need that reliable out of the
- 19:58Speaker 1: backfield pass catch. Yeah, that's always been part of the
- 20:02Speaker 1: Patriots offense. And you know we talk about Bill O'Brien, Um,
- 20:06Speaker 1: that's always been part of you know what he's done.
- 20:09Speaker 1: So whoever that becomes, they need that person. I just,
- 20:13Speaker 1: I mean, I agree with everything you said, and I
- 20:15Speaker 1: just I still wonder if it if it is a
- 20:17Speaker 1: priority for them, like you know, I just I don't know.
- 20:19Speaker 1: I'm open minded about it because they drafted two guys
- 20:23Speaker 1: last year, neither one of them really. I mean, I
- 20:24Speaker 1: know Pierre Strong can catch a little bit, but he's
- 20:26Speaker 1: not that guy. Um. You know, they've had JJ Taylor
- 20:29Speaker 1: kind of kicking around. I don't know what they feel
- 20:31Speaker 1: about him. They don't trust him in pass protection yet.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I mean, he's been practice squad guy for three years.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I'm just curious, Like because again this Robinson signing, Like, yeah,
- 20:38Speaker 1: he's got a little bit of versatility to him, but
- 20:40Speaker 1: he's not that receiving back either. So I don't know,
- 20:42Speaker 1: it's just something that's on my radar. Are they gonna
- 20:44Speaker 1: are they gonna make an effort again? I mean, we're
- 20:46Speaker 1: watching these guys in the draft too, that could potentially
- 20:49Speaker 1: be that. Look how many times they threw to Ramondre
- 20:52Speaker 1: Stevenson last year, So that's and I mean he was
- 20:54Speaker 1: the only he was the last guy standing. It's a
- 20:56Speaker 1: great point, and that's they did throw to the back,
- 20:58Speaker 1: and that's and that's what I wonder if this evolution
- 21:00Speaker 1: is like they got to a point where they said, look,
- 21:02Speaker 1: everybody knows, when Leire Blunt's out there, we're gonna run it,
- 21:05Speaker 1: and when James White's out there, we're gonna pass it.
- 21:06Speaker 1: And that's what you know, that's kind of what they
- 21:08Speaker 1: were in those middle years. Maybe they said, look, we've
- 21:10Speaker 1: just got to get a little bit more balanced with
- 21:12Speaker 1: some of these guys. And I think that's what you
- 21:13Speaker 1: see in Ramandre, who you know, was described to me.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I think of the comment a couple of years as
- 21:17Speaker 1: a third down back and I'm like, really, um, but
- 21:19Speaker 1: you know Strong a little bit, this guy Robinson a
- 21:22Speaker 1: little bit. They can all catch a little bit. Um.
- 21:24Speaker 1: So I don't know, we'll see, but I think I
- 21:27Speaker 1: also look at the other tight end position with John Hugone.
- 21:29Speaker 1: You know, that seems like there's a spot there. What's
- 21:31Speaker 1: that going to be? Is that going to be one
- 21:32Speaker 1: of the rookies that we love or you know, I
- 21:35Speaker 1: know they saw GHISICKI was apparently at Toby Keats or
- 21:37Speaker 1: Southern last night. I don't know if that's true or not. Really.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Somebody said I just I saw him at You know,
- 21:41Speaker 1: there are a couple of people saying that he started
- 21:43Speaker 1: following the Patriots a Logan Airport type situation. That possibly
- 21:46Speaker 1: could be. But the other part of it was that
- 21:48Speaker 1: he's fall he started following the Patriots and mac and
- 21:51Speaker 1: also so so there's a little bit of smoke there.
- 21:55Speaker 1: So you know, I don't, I don't, I don't hate
- 21:56Speaker 1: it as like. But that's another thing I wonder is that,
- 21:59Speaker 1: you know, Bill O'Brien had Aaron Hernandez and I mean really,
- 22:03Speaker 1: you know, looked at that f tight end position as
- 22:05Speaker 1: a weapon and as a piece that you know, to
- 22:07Speaker 1: move around and take advantage of. I'll say weapon. I
- 22:09Speaker 1: just sorry, playmaker, playmakers, let's say weapons. Um. So that's
- 22:14Speaker 1: another place I wonder is Bill O'Brien, you know, gonna
- 22:17Speaker 1: push for let's get one of those kind of move
- 22:19Speaker 1: tight ends, somebody that we don't really care if he
- 22:21Speaker 1: can block, but can be a mismatch in one way
- 22:23Speaker 1: or another. Yeah, I think they're hoping that might be
- 22:25Speaker 1: due to Honestly, I guess a guy that's underneath the defense,
- 22:28Speaker 1: I can catch and run, I can move around a
- 22:31Speaker 1: little bit. I think that he's sort of that a
- 22:34Speaker 1: little bit of a new age in that position where
- 22:36Speaker 1: he's more of like a power slot receiver instead of
- 22:39Speaker 1: a true tight end. Like you're not gonna put t
- 22:42Speaker 1: next to his name, but he can sort of do
- 22:44Speaker 1: similar things like Jordan Humphrey. Right, Yeah, he's no good way.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I was gonna ask Evan I since he didn't really
- 22:51Speaker 1: he wasn't really fond of the James Robinson picked because
- 22:53Speaker 1: he's not really like bringing. I guess the speed that
- 22:57Speaker 1: he's looking for for the offense. Would you brother kept
- 23:00Speaker 1: Damien or would you have just moved on altogether? No?
- 23:04Speaker 1: I mean I think that, Like we talk about lateral moves, like,
- 23:06Speaker 1: I think that's a lateral move, right as a guy,
- 23:08Speaker 1: one guy that has an injury history versus another guy
- 23:11Speaker 1: that gets banged up all the time, and they run
- 23:13Speaker 1: a similar style. I think that Robinson has a little
- 23:16Speaker 1: bit more upside in the passing game than what Damien
- 23:18Speaker 1: brought to the table. But no, I don't mind not
- 23:21Speaker 1: keeping Damien and going with James Robinson. And I think
- 23:24Speaker 1: that when the contracts come out, Damian eventually signs, he's
- 23:27Speaker 1: going to get more money guaranteed to him up front
- 23:30Speaker 1: in the open market than somebody like James Robinson. But
- 23:34Speaker 1: it's more about I would say that they have this tendency,
- 23:38Speaker 1: especially at the running back position, to hold back younger
- 23:41Speaker 1: players at that spot, and you have to be really special,
- 23:44Speaker 1: like you know, Ramondre even in his rookie season, he
- 23:48Speaker 1: had some opportunity, but they didn't really give it to
- 23:51Speaker 1: him until his second year. And we've seen so many
- 23:53Speaker 1: guys just get red shirted that rookie year. And then
- 23:57Speaker 1: there's other teams. And I'm not saying that it's always
- 23:59Speaker 1: the Patriots always do everything wrong, but other teams like
- 24:02Speaker 1: the Chiefs, for example, have a rookie running back playing
- 24:04Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl making plays for them, and it's
- 24:07Speaker 1: at some point in time. Seventh yeah, out of Rutgers,
- 24:10Speaker 1: which you know, makes too much sense, right, So all
- 24:14Speaker 1: those combinations of things, Eventually you gotta you gotta give
- 24:18Speaker 1: some of the younger guys a chance at that position.
- 24:20Speaker 1: And I feel like sometimes they just they just retread
- 24:23Speaker 1: these veteran players that all right, he's not gonna fumble,
- 24:25Speaker 1: he's not gonna blow and the Simon and Blitz pick up,
- 24:28Speaker 1: he's gonna know where he's supposed to go when he
- 24:29Speaker 1: gets the football, and like all that. It's that's all
- 24:32Speaker 1: well and good, But does he make a difference, you know,
- 24:34Speaker 1: is he a playmaker with the football? And I think
- 24:36Speaker 1: there's too maybe that small risk of injury, like for example,
- 24:40Speaker 1: what happened with Etn in Jacksonville. It's like that rookie that, yeah,
- 24:44Speaker 1: you are looking forward to him playing like he barely
- 24:47Speaker 1: lasted a month. And so it's I think it's a
- 24:50Speaker 1: little bit of like you want them to get experienced,
- 24:52Speaker 1: but then you also are like you don't want them
- 24:53Speaker 1: to like get an acl tear the start of their
- 24:56Speaker 1: rookie season, and then you're kind of just always handle
- 24:59Speaker 1: that position with kid gloves. I don't know what it
- 25:01Speaker 1: is that they really feel so strongly that rookies cannot
- 25:05Speaker 1: contribute because it's early down backs like Damien and it's
- 25:08Speaker 1: pass catching backs like James White, like they do it
- 25:10Speaker 1: with all of them. Yeah, And I just don't know
- 25:12Speaker 1: why that is. It seems so simple to me, especially
- 25:16Speaker 1: if you're gonna make them a runner, not a pass catcher,
- 25:19Speaker 1: not a guy that's going to have to block and
- 25:21Speaker 1: things like that, like just hit the whole. Like, I
- 25:23Speaker 1: don't know why that's so complex to learn and to
- 25:26Speaker 1: pick up. I just, I mean, I think everything you're
- 25:28Speaker 1: saying true. I just I also have always just believed
- 25:30Speaker 1: that they overstocked that position with the anticipation that we're
- 25:33Speaker 1: going to lose one to two of these guys at
- 25:35Speaker 1: any given week, and they do. And let's just get
- 25:38Speaker 1: to get into preseason. Let's get a bunch of them
- 25:40Speaker 1: and you know, we'll let the competition play out. And yes,
- 25:42Speaker 1: in a perfect world, Pierre Strong, Kevin Harris, Romander Stevenson,
- 25:46Speaker 1: that's your rotation. Maybe time Montgomery's your other back. But
- 25:49Speaker 1: you know, Romandre gets hurt week two in preseason and
- 25:52Speaker 1: you're like, oh god, you know. So I just think
- 25:54Speaker 1: that position specifically is one to you can never have
- 25:57Speaker 1: too much depth. YEA, this goes back to when quarteraill
- 25:59Speaker 1: Patters and had to play running, yeah, you know, or
- 26:01Speaker 1: Stephen Jackson. I mean even this year, you know, even
- 26:04Speaker 1: this year with when Damian got hurt and you know
- 26:06Speaker 1: in time Montgomery got hurt and you're all of a
- 26:08Speaker 1: sudden having to thrust those two guys. You know, it's
- 26:11Speaker 1: and even then to your point, like they were forced
- 26:14Speaker 1: to do it, and it's you know, it still didn't
- 26:16Speaker 1: really pop. So yeah, those guys will be fun to watch.
- 26:18Speaker 1: It's you need a full stable because you're going to
- 26:21Speaker 1: end up using him. It always happens that way. Um,
- 26:25Speaker 1: other stuff around. I mean, we got to talk about
- 26:27Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers in that whole situation, that whole situations. Yeah,
- 26:31Speaker 1: I love it. It's so funny. Into the darkness and
- 26:34Speaker 1: he came out with the answer I should go And
- 26:36Speaker 1: I have a take on that whole situation, the Aaron
- 26:40Speaker 1: Modder's situation. It's like when you first start like dating
- 26:43Speaker 1: someone and you like don't really know what you are,
- 26:46Speaker 1: but like they're flirting with you. You know they're interested.
- 26:49Speaker 1: You feel like they're interested. What you're like? What are
- 26:50Speaker 1: we like? Are we official? Are we like? In the
- 26:53Speaker 1: talking stage that's what this is like, It's like, what
- 26:56Speaker 1: are we like? You like me? This is his ex
- 26:59Speaker 1: wife holding up the papers and it's just won't she
- 27:05Speaker 1: won't settle for the Okay, no, but but but it's
- 27:12Speaker 1: it is he just waiting for them to show that
- 27:14Speaker 1: they're going to sign all of his requests. The packers
- 27:18Speaker 1: are the packers want like, you know, I think they
- 27:20Speaker 1: want a first round pack. I think they they made
- 27:22Speaker 1: they want more. Yeah, you know so well, according to
- 27:25Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers, the packers are holding it up because for
- 27:29Speaker 1: the compensation they haven't worked out with the Jets. What
- 27:33Speaker 1: the Jets are willing to give them for the rights
- 27:36Speaker 1: to Aaron Rodgers. According to Aaron Rodgers, um which what's
- 27:40Speaker 1: your darkness? Take? I got? Yeah. So he comes out
- 27:43Speaker 1: of the hut and he says, I want to be
- 27:44Speaker 1: a Jet? Why? Why? Why the Jets? Because he's such
- 27:49Speaker 1: an egomaniac, which like, he couldn't go to a team
- 27:54Speaker 1: that is a good team, that was a good team.
- 27:56Speaker 1: He needs to be the Savings, like like let's just
- 27:59Speaker 1: say the Patriots were you know. Bill's love of Aaron
- 28:01Speaker 1: Rodgers manifested into an offer. He couldn't come here because
- 28:05Speaker 1: he'd be forever you know, uh, yes, Tom Brady, and
- 28:10Speaker 1: he'd never be as good. But with the Jets, who
- 28:12Speaker 1: haven't won a Super Bowl since sixty nine and haven't
- 28:14Speaker 1: even been to one since then, for the team, there's
- 28:18Speaker 1: only one place to go, you know, and so he's
- 28:21Speaker 1: never gonna He's not gonna be compared to Chad Pennington,
- 28:24Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. So he'll he'll be the guy, um,
- 28:27Speaker 1: you know, the best one since Joe Namath. And so
- 28:30Speaker 1: that's I'm I'm positive that's part of his thinking. It's like,
- 28:34Speaker 1: you know, that that safety net of for his ego
- 28:37Speaker 1: plus like yeah, but I mean it's a good team too,
- 28:40Speaker 1: like you know, I mean there's certainly things that are appealing, definitely,
- 28:46Speaker 1: but but he doesn't care. He cares about him. He
- 28:49Speaker 1: cares about him and his own perception. And I'm telling you,
- 28:53Speaker 1: with the Jets, there was no Tom Brady. There was
- 28:56Speaker 1: no you know, good quarterback who I'm succeeding and have
- 29:00Speaker 1: to live up to that. You know, it's my own
- 29:03Speaker 1: thing here, and you know, yeah, I totally believe it.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Tod to Toad New York Media next year. I can't wait.
- 29:09Speaker 1: But that part he'll like because Yeah, it's exactly. It
- 29:12Speaker 1: plays into exactly your point. He loves screwing with the
- 29:15Speaker 1: media and jousting with them and being smug and all that.
- 29:18Speaker 1: I don't think he's gonna have any problem there. What
- 29:20Speaker 1: he cares about is the public perception of himself. Um,
- 29:24Speaker 1: we've seen that, and you know, the jets of the
- 29:28Speaker 1: perfect place, because he'll get the money, he'll get the
- 29:32Speaker 1: notoriety if it works out, and he doesn't have to
- 29:35Speaker 1: worry about living up to a predecessor a team's success.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Like I said, they haven't been to the Super Bowls
- 29:42Speaker 1: in sixty nine. Even if it doesn't work out, I
- 29:44Speaker 1: don't think that anybody's gonna hate on Aaron Rodgers for
- 29:47Speaker 1: it unless he's playing awful, I guess. But I just
- 29:53Speaker 1: find it interesting too that he he gave this list
- 29:56Speaker 1: of players he wants to play with and they already
- 29:59Speaker 1: have Elijah More, Garrett Wilson, and Garret Wilson is heck
- 30:02Speaker 1: of a receiver. And now he's like, oh, let's get
- 30:05Speaker 1: Alan Lazard, let's get Odell. It's like, I mean, I
- 30:09Speaker 1: get that you want more help, but can you get
- 30:11Speaker 1: some good? Like, don't make Aaron Rodgers a GM because
- 30:13Speaker 1: now all of a sudden, these guys are running the
- 30:15Speaker 1: same route, Like Garrett Wilson's already a big slot receiver,
- 30:19Speaker 1: and then you signed Alan Lazard, who's also a big
- 30:21Speaker 1: slot receiver. It's like yeah, and again, according to Rogers,
- 30:26Speaker 1: it wasn't demands. It was just simply a wish list,
- 30:29Speaker 1: that's all. So he said that yesterday again on McAfee
- 30:33Speaker 1: show that you know, Diane Rassini cut you know, and
- 30:36Speaker 1: she didn't say she didn't say it was a demand either,
- 30:40Speaker 1: you know, So he made it seem like she was
- 30:42Speaker 1: characterizing it a wrong way when she wasn't. So I mean,
- 30:46Speaker 1: I think he did kind of you know, agree that
- 30:49Speaker 1: he did give them some names, lose my number. It
- 30:53Speaker 1: doesn't make you look any differently at Brady's departure here,
- 30:56Speaker 1: Like that was what I was just thinking as I'm
- 30:57Speaker 1: watching Aaron Rodgers being like, Jesus, thank God Brady wasn't
- 31:00Speaker 1: going on some podcasts just like you know, saying all
- 31:03Speaker 1: the things he was saying, And you know, I just
- 31:05Speaker 1: I mean, there's acrimonious divorces, but I felt like, in hindsight,
- 31:09Speaker 1: the Patriots one was you know, pretty like at least
- 31:11Speaker 1: on the surface. I know everybody wants to dig deep
- 31:13Speaker 1: and what did they really feel? But you know, at
- 31:15Speaker 1: least on the surface, it was I do wonder how
- 31:17Speaker 1: many other teams, you know, were interested in Rogers and
- 31:21Speaker 1: expressed that interest to him or his agent. Well, I'm sure, An,
- 31:24Speaker 1: I don't know a ton of teams needed. We haven't heard.
- 31:27Speaker 1: He was asked. He just gave like a very vanilla
- 31:30Speaker 1: answer on Pat McAfee, what did you say? I think
- 31:32Speaker 1: he said there were some other teams, but and then
- 31:35Speaker 1: he just moved on. I'd have to everybody thought the
- 31:38Speaker 1: line would be long for Brady, and honestly, it wasn't
- 31:41Speaker 1: that long. Well, and that's why I bring that up,
- 31:43Speaker 1: you know, And we didn't see anything like this from
- 31:45Speaker 1: Brady because I don't think he had a lot of suitors.
- 31:49Speaker 1: I think I think he was so damn grateful for
- 31:53Speaker 1: Tampa Bay wanting him and giving him. I think it
- 31:55Speaker 1: was twenty five million or something like that. I mean,
- 31:58Speaker 1: that's why he was all in day one when he
- 32:00Speaker 1: went to Tampa because he was really grateful that they
- 32:03Speaker 1: wanted him. Yeah, I mean I asked, I asked Paul
- 32:06Speaker 1: yesterday straight up. I was like, do you think there's
- 32:07Speaker 1: a chance of the Patriots are like behind the scenes
- 32:10Speaker 1: interested in Aaron Rodgers because I just think with those
- 32:12Speaker 1: kind of players, I've always felt Bill has a special
- 32:15Speaker 1: respect for those kind of generational players, and you know,
- 32:18Speaker 1: you can just see it on his face. Bill don't
- 32:20Speaker 1: have a lot of time left, you know, Like it's
- 32:22Speaker 1: just like there's some logic behind this move of like
- 32:24Speaker 1: take just go get Aaron Rodgers, Like I mean, Paul,
- 32:27Speaker 1: Paul didn't really seem to think so Lamar. You know,
- 32:29Speaker 1: maybe that could be behind the scenes kind of thing,
- 32:31Speaker 1: but it was just I don't know. I just I
- 32:33Speaker 1: wouldn't have been one hundred percent. I would have been
- 32:35Speaker 1: very shocked, but not one hundred percent shocked if they're like,
- 32:37Speaker 1: I don't know where the Patriots swooped in. I mean,
- 32:40Speaker 1: just based on Bill's timeframe, it would make sense. I
- 32:42Speaker 1: feel like Lamar makes more sense for that. That's what
- 32:45Speaker 1: I was going to ask theory, because at least he's young.
- 32:47Speaker 1: So even if Bill retires in three years, you still
- 32:50Speaker 1: have a quarterback. Yeah, it's not like there's an expiration
- 32:53Speaker 1: date on both your head coach and your quarterback. Would
- 32:56Speaker 1: but would you pay Lamar? You would you ever see
- 32:59Speaker 1: them or would yeah, yes, yeah, I mean I would,
- 33:02Speaker 1: But like, would you ever see the Patriots behind closed
- 33:05Speaker 1: doors offering that much money to a quarterback? Um? I
- 33:08Speaker 1: mean they're gonna have to at some point if they're
- 33:10Speaker 1: lucky enough to find that guy to pay, you know.
- 33:12Speaker 1: And that's the weird like thing about it. It's on
- 33:15Speaker 1: one hand, like, oh my gosh, would they Well guess
- 33:17Speaker 1: what if they find that guy, They're gonna have to
- 33:19Speaker 1: at some point. I think doesn't any smart team want
- 33:22Speaker 1: to be in this situation where you have a guy
- 33:24Speaker 1: that's that good? I mean clearly not the Ravens because
- 33:27Speaker 1: what are they doing right now? Well they did, they
- 33:29Speaker 1: have all the left well, but let's put it. You know,
- 33:31Speaker 1: even Um I think uh Uh lamar Uh revealed that
- 33:38Speaker 1: he did turn down a pretty hefty offer from them. Yeah,
- 33:42Speaker 1: it was like three years, three years, one hundred and
- 33:44Speaker 1: thirty three with like ninety million guaranteed or something like Watson's.
- 33:49Speaker 1: His is more, but only because, um, Watson's is more,
- 33:56Speaker 1: because you know, overall, because I think it was five
- 33:59Speaker 1: or six years. But when you break down the first
- 34:02Speaker 1: three years, it's they were about the same. Okay, you know, Um,
- 34:06Speaker 1: but that's I think that's where Jackson is, you know,
- 34:08Speaker 1: myth because they don't they don't want to give me
- 34:10Speaker 1: three years. You know, I also don't. I'm like intrigued
- 34:14Speaker 1: that he doesn't have an agent. That's I thought. I
- 34:16Speaker 1: was just going to say, his mom and his agent
- 34:21Speaker 1: counter counter. I'm gonna counter this one. I mean, it's
- 34:23Speaker 1: it is surprising to me, especially like having worked in
- 34:25Speaker 1: a kind of seeing what the what is, what the
- 34:29Speaker 1: negotiations are like, what the back and forth is, like,
- 34:32Speaker 1: what the context is that the agents know. I mean,
- 34:34Speaker 1: obviously there's a part of it too where the agents
- 34:36Speaker 1: have interest in this as well, because they're going to
- 34:38Speaker 1: get a commission and then they're going to be able
- 34:39Speaker 1: to base other deals off of this. But I just
- 34:42Speaker 1: I don't know. It would be really hard to do
- 34:43Speaker 1: that as so complicated, and you have to they have
- 34:47Speaker 1: to be straight up with you, like this is what
- 34:49Speaker 1: we really think about you as a player, and this
- 34:51Speaker 1: is why we're offering what it is. And sometimes it's
- 34:53Speaker 1: better to have that go through a buffer. Just just
- 34:56Speaker 1: because he doesn't have an agent, does it mean that
- 34:58Speaker 1: he won't have a lawyer down? Oh, it comes time
- 35:01Speaker 1: to sign advising, hopefully advising him, but I mean hopefully
- 35:04Speaker 1: he's I mean, it's probably gonna be the thing where
- 35:06Speaker 1: they're gonna say, all right, whatever, four years xxx, this
- 35:09Speaker 1: much guaranteed yes or no, you know, and then it's
- 35:11Speaker 1: the finer points that you got to let the lawyer
- 35:13Speaker 1: go to work on and figure out where their outs
- 35:15Speaker 1: are and you know, all that kind of stuff that
- 35:17Speaker 1: that teams try to put into contracts so they you know,
- 35:20Speaker 1: they're not on the hook forever. But I think Lamar's
- 35:23Speaker 1: situation is intriguing because you don't hear of anything. And
- 35:28Speaker 1: I know one of Paul shows, you know, is accusing
- 35:31Speaker 1: the League of collusion. You know, I'm not saying that
- 35:34Speaker 1: collusion is beyond the owners, but in this particular case,
- 35:38Speaker 1: I don't see why they would collude, you know, like
- 35:41Speaker 1: it's it's it's a hefty child. The argument is that
- 35:44Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson's contract is something that the owners never want
- 35:47Speaker 1: to see again, a fully guaranteed quarterback contract for over
- 35:50Speaker 1: two hundred million dollars. The precedent, the precedent that it's
- 35:53Speaker 1: said is is tough because Lamar is sitting there saying,
- 35:57Speaker 1: I'm better quarterback than Deshaun Watson. I win more I
- 36:00Speaker 1: on an MVP, Like I'm better than him, So why
- 36:03Speaker 1: why am I? And off the field, well, you know
- 36:06Speaker 1: why am I only getting three for one thirty three
- 36:08Speaker 1: but got double that? But that's short of collusion. I
- 36:11Speaker 1: mean they can be pissed off at Haslem for doing
- 36:14Speaker 1: that deal and saying I wouldn't do that deal, and
- 36:18Speaker 1: that could be the consensus among the owners, But I
- 36:20Speaker 1: don't think it requires collusion to have that opinion, right,
- 36:24Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like everybody said that was
- 36:26Speaker 1: a terrible deal. Yeah, you know it was, like, you
- 36:29Speaker 1: don't need to collude to come up with that right conclusion.
- 36:32Speaker 1: I just think if you're Baltimore, you have all the leverage.
- 36:34Speaker 1: You have the franchise tag. It's a bargain to franchise
- 36:37Speaker 1: tag him, which you really have all control in that situation.
- 36:41Speaker 1: If you do tag him, you can even tag him
- 36:43Speaker 1: again next year and it's still a bargain. So it's
- 36:46Speaker 1: just like there's really no incentive, especially for the style
- 36:49Speaker 1: a quarterback that he is, for the Ravens to give
- 36:52Speaker 1: him five years with two hundred million dollars guaranteed, Like
- 36:55Speaker 1: they don't have to I'm gonna be so intrigued when
- 36:58Speaker 1: it comes time for Joe Burrow get this because it's
- 37:01Speaker 1: gonna be wild and that's a historically cheap team. And yeah,
- 37:05Speaker 1: and he paid Orlando Brown though, so that was, you know,
- 37:07Speaker 1: an interesting that's true and interesting they made they just
- 37:10Speaker 1: made him the highest offensive lineman ever or I don't,
- 37:13Speaker 1: I don't know ever but right now in the league.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Right yeah. But like Joe Burrow, like he's worth he's
- 37:19Speaker 1: worth a lot of money. Oh yeah, Like there's no
- 37:21Speaker 1: way that you could look at him and be like, oh,
- 37:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna and and and I mean to re hit
- 37:25Speaker 1: a point I keep hitting the last few weeks. It's like,
- 37:27Speaker 1: you know, at least with him, I feel like he's
- 37:29Speaker 1: nine times out of ten gonna be upright for the
- 37:31Speaker 1: whole season. And it's gonna be you know, it's gonna
- 37:33Speaker 1: have when he had an had we got that out
- 37:36Speaker 1: of the way. There's always one. There's always one a
- 37:39Speaker 1: cl year with the quarterbacks. He got it done. But
- 37:45Speaker 1: he came back from that and proved that he's still
- 37:48Speaker 1: a no, he's the real deal. And when you have
- 37:51Speaker 1: a guy like Burrow or Lamar Jackson or Tom Brady.
- 37:54Speaker 1: You don't just factor in the play, you factor in
- 37:56Speaker 1: the marketability. How many jerseys is you gonna sells? What
- 38:00Speaker 1: you do for our France? Those TikTok numbers of just
- 38:03Speaker 1: any video they post Man, they literally could post a
- 38:06Speaker 1: picture of him. We're in our content and like marketing me,
- 38:09Speaker 1: I have to say this, And I'm just watching all
- 38:12Speaker 1: these men talk about like, oh, the Bengals do this,
- 38:15Speaker 1: and the Eagles like look at their numbers on their
- 38:17Speaker 1: arrival videos, and all the girls are just sitting in
- 38:19Speaker 1: the back like yeah, that's because it's Joe Burrow and
- 38:23Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts like like like they're postings literally, I think.
- 38:28Speaker 1: I think if if you like analyzed their followers, it's
- 38:31Speaker 1: probably like a lot more women than you think. And
- 38:34Speaker 1: not because it is because they like football, but also
- 38:36Speaker 1: because like looking at half of my algorithm as girls
- 38:40Speaker 1: that don't watch football talking about Evan knows. Evan knows
- 38:46Speaker 1: that he has to be quiet because he fan boyd
- 38:49Speaker 1: over Josh Allen. And that's true compliment one time and
- 38:59Speaker 1: worst mistake of my blood. It wasn't the compliment, it
- 39:04Speaker 1: was talking about it in the meeting. The next month,
- 39:07Speaker 1: he was l from Wisconsin says he has made his
- 39:11Speaker 1: gripe is the way I talked about the start of
- 39:14Speaker 1: free agency at the end of the last show. He says,
- 39:17Speaker 1: you mentioned that we go through this all the time.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Team doesn't do much France freak out, rents and repeat.
- 39:22Speaker 1: The difference is that in those days, we had the
- 39:24Speaker 1: goat at quarterback and made the AC Championship every year.
- 39:27Speaker 1: The team didn't really need to get much better. Now
- 39:30Speaker 1: the team needs to drastically improve. The Patriots are staring
- 39:33Speaker 1: down a potential fourth place to visional ranking and can't
- 39:36Speaker 1: fill all the holes in one draft. So yeah, I'm worried,
- 39:39Speaker 1: and I don't trust Bill to do what's necessary. To me,
- 39:42Speaker 1: you haven't got any better. Juju from Myers is a wash,
- 39:45Speaker 1: and signing to mid level right tackles for win is
- 39:50Speaker 1: also kind of a wash. What date is it? Is
- 39:53Speaker 1: it March sixteenth or September? Yeah? Sixteenth? Yeah, So, like, listen,
- 40:00Speaker 1: don't forget what I predicted last year's record was going
- 40:02Speaker 1: to be eight and nine, Okay, Fred the Homer, Fred
- 40:06Speaker 1: the Homer, So like, I read the writing on the wall.
- 40:09Speaker 1: But right now, let's let's see what they're gonna do.
- 40:12Speaker 1: We're just pre mad. Right. In fact, that's the part
- 40:15Speaker 1: that gets me agitated, is because we're four days into
- 40:18Speaker 1: this guy's in four days in also the implications of
- 40:22Speaker 1: the what's going on in the division right now. That
- 40:24Speaker 1: is like, honestly, if that Aaron Rodgers video doesn't happen yesterday,
- 40:28Speaker 1: if he's not going to the Jets, like, I'm probably cool, dud,
- 40:30Speaker 1: You like, content's gonna be fun? Yeah, we can no,
- 40:32Speaker 1: No that listen. That scares me that the Jets defense
- 40:36Speaker 1: and Aaron Rodgers with now haul you know, not hopefully,
- 40:40Speaker 1: I hope he's not healthy, but haul back, you know,
- 40:44Speaker 1: after his injury, and you know, they're gonna be good.
- 40:48Speaker 1: They're gonna be good. They should be good. But they're
- 40:50Speaker 1: the Jets. They could screw it up. Would you put them?
- 40:53Speaker 1: They should be good? I put them as another two
- 40:56Speaker 1: right now on paper? Who the Jets? The Jets? It's
- 41:00Speaker 1: those Jets, Miami and US. Now we could be better
- 41:03Speaker 1: than Miami. That's a possibility as we sit right here
- 41:06Speaker 1: now because we don't know what you know, we don't
- 41:09Speaker 1: know what two is. You know, he could be out
- 41:11Speaker 1: in week two, you know, Um, so that's that's a
- 41:14Speaker 1: you know, a big gift for them, so we could actually,
- 41:18Speaker 1: you know, as we sit here right now, be better
- 41:20Speaker 1: than Miami. Yeah, I mean, and I just I wonder,
- 41:23Speaker 1: you know, I totally get what he's saying, Like, and
- 41:25Speaker 1: Evan's so right, we're pre mad. We just assume that
- 41:28Speaker 1: they're gonna you know, and I said my piece earlier
- 41:30Speaker 1: about you do have to do some of this stuff,
- 41:31Speaker 1: but like, just what is your view on twenty twenty one?
- 41:33Speaker 1: Like this, they went out, they went hog wild in
- 41:35Speaker 1: twenty twenty one, and we were all so excited and
- 41:38Speaker 1: it was okay, it was okay, you know, so I
- 41:41Speaker 1: just I the bottom line for me is that I
- 41:43Speaker 1: don't think you were going to surpass the Bills in
- 41:45Speaker 1: the first four days of free agency. Like it's just
- 41:47Speaker 1: that's not going to happen. So, you know, like you
- 41:50Speaker 1: have to be methodical, you have to think about where
- 41:53Speaker 1: the Patriots really are. And you know, I just I
- 41:55Speaker 1: said it, going into free agency, I'm not overly enamored
- 41:58Speaker 1: with oh, we could go get a player X, Y,
- 42:00Speaker 1: and Z and then we're there. It's you know, it's
- 42:02Speaker 1: a lot of these kind of guys, guys like Juju
- 42:04Speaker 1: Smith Schuster that you're like, okay, But at the end
- 42:08Speaker 1: of the day, I think it's all about development of
- 42:10Speaker 1: these draft picks and nailing this draft again and you
- 42:13Speaker 1: find a couple of guys who can contribute. I think
- 42:14Speaker 1: you're seeing the roster kind of come together that you have,
- 42:17Speaker 1: you know, a manageable starting point where you have every
- 42:20Speaker 1: kind of hole generally filled, generally filled, not to the
- 42:24Speaker 1: height you want it, but get to the draft, get
- 42:27Speaker 1: those guys, add some talent, add two or three guys
- 42:29Speaker 1: that can come in immediately and contribute. Then you're starting
- 42:32Speaker 1: to talk about a young team on the upswing with
- 42:34Speaker 1: a young quarterback. That's where that's where you want to be.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Not while we went out and overpaid again for all
- 42:39Speaker 1: these free agents, and yeah we won ten games again
- 42:42Speaker 1: in twenty twenty three, but it really wasn't that good.
- 42:44Speaker 1: And now half of them are you know, we're busts,
- 42:46Speaker 1: and we're gonna have to get rid of those guys
- 42:48Speaker 1: in two years like we did with John u. You know,
- 42:50Speaker 1: those kind of things. It's just it's about the draft
- 42:52Speaker 1: for me. I know that everybody wants to see a
- 42:56Speaker 1: more aggressive plan, but to me, looking at what they've
- 42:59Speaker 1: done in free agents, so far, the plan is, let's
- 43:03Speaker 1: plug all of the depth that we need in all
- 43:05Speaker 1: these other places, line running back, bring back all of
- 43:09Speaker 1: our defensive players that we liked that fit the system,
- 43:12Speaker 1: and therefore when we put the cherry on top, we
- 43:15Speaker 1: have all the other foundational elements already in place. Now
- 43:18Speaker 1: they're still searching for the cherry. I get that, But
- 43:22Speaker 1: if you got to be able to build out the
- 43:24Speaker 1: rest of the roster too, and I think in free agency,
- 43:26Speaker 1: that's where you can really find value in free agency
- 43:30Speaker 1: is making sure that you maintain your depth in certain areas,
- 43:34Speaker 1: maybe make some marginal upgrades like Juju and Jacoby Myers,
- 43:37Speaker 1: and you're not going to You're not going to win
- 43:40Speaker 1: a Super Bowl by winning free agency. It's never done
- 43:43Speaker 1: that way. And they did it a couple of years
- 43:45Speaker 1: ago because they had the money to spend and there
- 43:47Speaker 1: was a market correction with COVID and it ended up
- 43:49Speaker 1: working out for them in the short term. But here
- 43:52Speaker 1: we are again two years later, and we're still in
- 43:54Speaker 1: the same spot that they were in twenty twenty one.
- 43:56Speaker 1: So free agency is not the place that you make
- 44:00Speaker 1: these big moves to move the needle. Those guys don't
- 44:03Speaker 1: make it to free agency, they get traded or they
- 44:05Speaker 1: get re upped by their own teams. Who in the
- 44:08Speaker 1: market right now has moved at wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins
- 44:12Speaker 1: is still a Cardinal, right, Jerry Judy is still a
- 44:14Speaker 1: Denver Bronco. Like there's been no big trade, liked, Higgins
- 44:18Speaker 1: is still in Cincinnati. Actually, I just saw that Braxton
- 44:21Speaker 1: the Barrios signed with Miami. Oh that's huge, that's huge.
- 44:28Speaker 1: But until those things happen, I think that all this
- 44:32Speaker 1: this hysteria is premature until they decide to pass on
- 44:36Speaker 1: it all, you know, all this receiver movement and the
- 44:39Speaker 1: real receiver movement, not the Jacobe Myers and Juju Smith schusters,
- 44:42Speaker 1: but the DeAndre Hopkins trades, Like until they pass on those.
- 44:47Speaker 1: If we get in here the Tuesday after the draft
- 44:50Speaker 1: and this is how the team looks, then have at
- 44:52Speaker 1: it like then it's open season. But we got a
- 44:55Speaker 1: long way to go. I love how BS is rattling
- 44:57Speaker 1: around the AC a bill before long I mean talk
- 45:01Speaker 1: about I mean, but he played in Miami, right, so
- 45:03Speaker 1: it's like Riley, he played on like three three NFC
- 45:07Speaker 1: North teams, Like he's just been floating around. Yeah, he's
- 45:10Speaker 1: I mean, he seems like he fits in the Miami
- 45:12Speaker 1: called he's got, you know, good looking dude. He's like
- 45:14Speaker 1: he doesn't he date somebody's sister or something's little sister.
- 45:18Speaker 1: So really so he's like, it's funny. He's like living
- 45:21Speaker 1: the B level Daniel Mendola, It's like the B level
- 45:24Speaker 1: out there, like but wing man man, all right? Five
- 45:29Speaker 1: five passive ticket hot line web radio at Patriots dot
- 45:32Speaker 1: com is the email address. Let's get to the phones.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Eldred's in North Carolina? What's up to Aldred? There? It is? Oh, hey,
- 45:39Speaker 1: lady ladies, all right, hey Evan, yes, sir, I hate
- 45:45Speaker 1: did move because my brother is a diehards Steeler fan.
- 45:52Speaker 1: And when Brown left, they thought he was gonna take over.
- 45:55Speaker 1: He didn't take over, Aldred. What happened to Big Laugh?
- 46:00Speaker 1: Come on like it is with washed Big Ben. We're
- 46:03Speaker 1: gonna we're gonna judge him on that. The guy couldn't
- 46:05Speaker 1: even move. He just wasn't the cap mars like to
- 46:12Speaker 1: see everybody because he's a home grown And I know
- 46:15Speaker 1: he didn't move the needle like everybody's saying, but least
- 46:17Speaker 1: he did move to move the yard marks. Yard markers
- 46:20Speaker 1: most of the time he was your most reliable receiver.
- 46:25Speaker 1: I'm surprised. I'm surprising you. I just like you. I
- 46:29Speaker 1: feel like you want real like guys like Jude. And
- 46:32Speaker 1: I'm not saying that like you said, he wasn't Antonio Brown,
- 46:35Speaker 1: I'm not. And then I don't think any of us
- 46:37Speaker 1: are saying he is. But I'm just surprised because I
- 46:39Speaker 1: think you know, he does bring a little bit more
- 46:40Speaker 1: juice to the offense, and I know, I mean, I
- 46:43Speaker 1: know he's not going to be the guy for us,
- 46:44Speaker 1: and then that's what you want. But I am a
- 46:46Speaker 1: little surprised. Yeah, but see see that anybody if I
- 46:48Speaker 1: keeps saying the middle of the field. But don't you
- 46:51Speaker 1: think the defenses know that because we still didn't get
- 46:53Speaker 1: nobody on the outside yet it's coming to h out
- 46:56Speaker 1: of the defense yet, you know, death death, death, Marcus.
- 47:01Speaker 1: But that's like the rest of like the rest of
- 47:03Speaker 1: the league, like rest of the fan. You have to
- 47:05Speaker 1: go right something we see yet I know, feel more,
- 47:08Speaker 1: feel more old. But you got a fifth round, and
- 47:11Speaker 1: you went to Dallas and you got a third round
- 47:14Speaker 1: for pet for Rams, those two two could be your
- 47:17Speaker 1: two starts corner, just like we did with with Reeves
- 47:21Speaker 1: and not Revers, but yeah, Reeves another guy, if you know,
- 47:25Speaker 1: just to start off, instead of doing Bryant and doing
- 47:28Speaker 1: Jones with a number one corner, they five short, They
- 47:32Speaker 1: can't run with nobody. So that last year, Yeah, that
- 47:36Speaker 1: one of the head lakes that we've seen, you know.
- 47:38Speaker 1: But I think that that's what they're doing with all
- 47:40Speaker 1: these depth moves, is that they're setting themselves up for
- 47:45Speaker 1: when the draft comes around. Maybe it is Joey Porter Jr.
- 47:48Speaker 1: In the first round. Maybe it is you know, somebody
- 47:51Speaker 1: like Quentin Johnson or another receiver that they really like,
- 47:54Speaker 1: Zay Flowers, whatever, and you know, name the name the guy.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Because now they're setting themselves up where Okay, we have
- 48:00Speaker 1: all these other pieces, don't have to we don't have
- 48:03Speaker 1: to chase that. We don't have to overdraft a guard
- 48:06Speaker 1: again because we just don't have a guard to play
- 48:09Speaker 1: in a game tomorrow. They could play a game tomorrow,
- 48:12Speaker 1: ye would they be the best team in the league.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Certainly not, But they don't have any glaring oh they
- 48:17Speaker 1: need a body here type of holes. And so that
- 48:20Speaker 1: we get to the draft and we can go chase
- 48:22Speaker 1: the high end talent I'm with you totally on that.
- 48:25Speaker 1: One more question, all right, what y'all think about I
- 48:28Speaker 1: think Riley Riff, I think any of the left tackle
- 48:31Speaker 1: the both defined he's he's probably gonna have to stay
- 48:36Speaker 1: on the right side. If he's old, veteran experience. I mean,
- 48:39Speaker 1: but sounds like he's a leader. I don't know that
- 48:41Speaker 1: contracts surprised me a little bit just because he's he's
- 48:43Speaker 1: near the end of the line. But I think that
- 48:45Speaker 1: they've established I mean, you've got six tackles now when
- 48:47Speaker 1: you bring cajuiced back, you got Calvin Anderson, you signed Reef,
- 48:51Speaker 1: you brought Connor McDermott back. So I mean they, you know,
- 48:53Speaker 1: like Tavan's point, they got some depth there, they got
- 48:55Speaker 1: some competition. Do they have a number one left tackle?
- 48:57Speaker 1: The future? Guy? Know? But who knows? If one of
- 49:00Speaker 1: those guys Paris John Traft sitting there, all right, we
- 49:02Speaker 1: don't have to reach for him. But if he's there,
- 49:04Speaker 1: you know we can take him. Thanks, Aldred. Let's go
- 49:07Speaker 1: to William and Philham. What's up William? Well, yam, William? Yeah,
- 49:15Speaker 1: I'm sorry, okay, there is sorry. I don't want to
- 49:18Speaker 1: interrupt you, you know, h what's up? I had I
- 49:21Speaker 1: had second. I'm sorry. Okay, I'm here, I'm hearing my
- 49:25Speaker 1: work at my job and whatnot. So you know, don't
- 49:27Speaker 1: get fined. Um, I'm gonna just get right to it. Uh,
- 49:36Speaker 1: I can't have you got TikTok boy key, it's great, Okay,
- 49:46Speaker 1: I'm trying to get this out. I'm trying to get
- 49:47Speaker 1: this out. Heaven. Is he better than Jacobe Man? Absolutely yes,
- 49:54Speaker 1: but you've got to also do no. But it's a
- 49:56Speaker 1: football team, it's not the boys. Hold on, I can't hear.
- 49:59Speaker 1: I can't hear him. What I don't know. I don't
- 50:02Speaker 1: know if he if he better than m Jacoby Myers. Yeah,
- 50:05Speaker 1: can y'all hear him? Yeah? Yeah, okay, yes he is
- 50:09Speaker 1: better than Jacoe Meyers. But um, my concern also with him, though,
- 50:13Speaker 1: Evan is you know the man. I hope he don't
- 50:17Speaker 1: do no new dances and stuff and the mess the
- 50:20Speaker 1: team up basically or jump into somebody's ends, don't do
- 50:23Speaker 1: some more nonsense and then the other the other team
- 50:25Speaker 1: on other styles. Great, not come on the sideline, you
- 50:28Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about? Why are we afraid of that?
- 50:30Speaker 1: Isn't that a like? Why am I afraid go catch
- 50:33Speaker 1: a touchdown on Buffalo and go dance on that danglo
- 50:36Speaker 1: though and shove it in their faces like have some
- 50:39Speaker 1: have some about him after the game and start they
- 50:43Speaker 1: don't have anybody that has any type of alpha energy
- 50:47Speaker 1: like that? Is that alpha? Social media? Start? Evan, he's
- 50:51Speaker 1: in New England. He's nowhere. He's not with the steel
- 50:53Speaker 1: of anybody else. He's in New England. You think Bill
- 50:56Speaker 1: gonna play a lot that nonsense? I don't. Yes, I
- 50:58Speaker 1: think he is. I would, I don't think. I don't
- 51:02Speaker 1: think Bill will tolerate disrespecting other teams. I'm not asking
- 51:05Speaker 1: the disrespect dance on their logo, like when have you know?
- 51:12Speaker 1: It would be good to have somebody around that act
- 51:14Speaker 1: teams don't like playing again, So that's different. Yeah, like
- 51:18Speaker 1: when Sauce beat the Packers and put the cheese head
- 51:20Speaker 1: on top of his head, that's wild. There's no way
- 51:22Speaker 1: Bill allow that. Yeah. And my last my last thing
- 51:26Speaker 1: is this, and I'll and I'll leave it at this.
- 51:28Speaker 1: And I just want to dress Evan a little bit
- 51:30Speaker 1: with this. And I know Paul ain't there. I know
- 51:33Speaker 1: how you got kind of hard on the fans. You're
- 51:35Speaker 1: thinking like, well, what do the fans want this that, sir,
- 51:37Speaker 1: So let me speak a little bit for the fans.
- 51:39Speaker 1: I'm not gonna go all in with it, but you
- 51:41Speaker 1: know we're not stupid and dumb. Okay, I didn't say
- 51:44Speaker 1: you were stupid and dumb. I know you called it.
- 51:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna do it, okay, But you know, I just
- 51:50Speaker 1: want you to understand, you know, what do the fans want.
- 51:52Speaker 1: You have the elders called in for a my receiver,
- 51:55Speaker 1: all my stuff, you have clear calling for a tight end.
- 51:58Speaker 1: You have other call us calling in for so we
- 52:01Speaker 1: kind of know what we would like to have for
- 52:03Speaker 1: the team. I mean, I'm we're worried because of the
- 52:05Speaker 1: fact you gotta deal with Josh, you might have to
- 52:07Speaker 1: deal with Aaron Rodgers. You gotta hold that. We ain't
- 52:09Speaker 1: got to deal with Lamar going to Miami or Tom
- 52:12Speaker 1: Brady coming back. Our our faith this quarterback right and
- 52:17Speaker 1: they cheering us something we at the bottom of the list,
- 52:19Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So I'm gonna be patient,
- 52:21Speaker 1: like you were saying, We're gonna see what uh what
- 52:23Speaker 1: Bill running do? But right now. But when I'm seeing
- 52:26Speaker 1: right now, I ain't like it. When I'm seeing But
- 52:28Speaker 1: did ju ju think that's okay? But those right tackles
- 52:31Speaker 1: do a little death charge. Y'all got the back then?
- 52:34Speaker 1: And okay, all right, I got mac Jones. Okay, you
- 52:37Speaker 1: got I hear you, William, But they don't play games
- 52:40Speaker 1: on Mark sixteenth. All right, we got, we got some time.
- 52:42Speaker 1: That's all I'm saying. I'm not trying to be disrespectful
- 52:45Speaker 1: to anybody or anything like that. It's just that just
- 52:47Speaker 1: shows a little bit of patience. That's all I'm asking for. Uh,
- 52:51Speaker 1: let's go to Christian and Boston. What's up, Chris for
- 52:54Speaker 1: the t I A n Hey, frady, what's happening on everybody?
- 52:58Speaker 1: How you doing? Hey? By the way, if you put
- 53:01Speaker 1: your brain power to it, we can figure out how
- 53:04Speaker 1: to get rid of the telephone poles. We can figure
- 53:07Speaker 1: it out. That's why I mean, that's why I'm called
- 53:09Speaker 1: two and a half chosen. There's no update on your proposal. Tom,
- 53:13Speaker 1: it's working its way through the legislature. It's working its
- 53:16Speaker 1: way through the legislature. That's not a good sign. I
- 53:20Speaker 1: know you can't get any the legislure. I know it's
- 53:23Speaker 1: a private conversation. What are you guys talk about no
- 53:24Speaker 1: I proposed I proposed a thirty year plan on Twitter
- 53:28Speaker 1: to remove all telephone poles in the United States. I
- 53:31Speaker 1: like it. I don' think they're dangerous. Them in the ground,
- 53:33Speaker 1: they're dangerous. The dangerous. The hit one in the east.
- 53:35Speaker 1: It's easy to hit that. Every time there's a storm
- 53:38Speaker 1: there's outages. Let's bury them right near the old uh yeah,
- 53:41Speaker 1: drive in theaters. It's difficult, but it can be done.
- 53:47Speaker 1: Bury him. Yeahs um, we'll save that one for a
- 53:53Speaker 1: few weeks. Yeah, definitely, we're gonna need it. Like June Table,
- 53:59Speaker 1: I am worried, you know, sort of the this whole
- 54:02Speaker 1: dynamic and what and why don't I get you what
- 54:04Speaker 1: you guys thought on it about the locker room and
- 54:08Speaker 1: you know whether your Kobe was quote there's a theory
- 54:12Speaker 1: out there feed room as one of these quote group
- 54:15Speaker 1: of five in that group of five that was that
- 54:17Speaker 1: was during the season, that was causing an issue, and
- 54:21Speaker 1: you know if that was a factor in this, Like, yeah,
- 54:24Speaker 1: Judo's a better player, but not by much. I mean,
- 54:28Speaker 1: I don't think you're going to get a guy here
- 54:29Speaker 1: that's going to help you win games. You're gonna get
- 54:32Speaker 1: a guy that's going to help you move the chains.
- 54:34Speaker 1: I don't know. If you've got a guy that's gonna
- 54:36Speaker 1: help you win games, I don't. And that's what they need.
- 54:38Speaker 1: They need a guy that can help them win games.
- 54:40Speaker 1: And Fred, I'm with you off the top, like they
- 54:43Speaker 1: haven't drafted and developed anybody realistically since Dion Branch. I
- 54:49Speaker 1: guess you could throw Malcolm mitcham and there if you want.
- 54:51Speaker 1: But then you have a guy who you knew fit
- 54:54Speaker 1: your system, where you knew understood your system, who last year,
- 54:57Speaker 1: in the midst of a dumpster fire of an offense,
- 54:59Speaker 1: actually produced and what we all agreed was like the
- 55:02Speaker 1: worst offense they've had in years, and he just let
- 55:05Speaker 1: him walk. Yeah, So that's where I'm coming from. Is frustrated,
- 55:08Speaker 1: But I am curious to see what you guys think
- 55:10Speaker 1: on the on the whole thing with the law from
- 55:11Speaker 1: Dynamic and stuff. Who are you? Who are the other?
- 55:14Speaker 1: Thanks Christel four of this fellow. So that's the language. Um,
- 55:24Speaker 1: I mean, I just I disagree with him. I disagree
- 55:26Speaker 1: with the point that he's not going to help him
- 55:27Speaker 1: win games. I mean, I think you can see plenty
- 55:29Speaker 1: of plays that he's made where he catches the ball,
- 55:32Speaker 1: he breaks the tackle, he pulls away, and it's a
- 55:34Speaker 1: big play. Um he's got I just think that he's
- 55:39Speaker 1: a better player. And I know that it's not exactly
- 55:41Speaker 1: what everybody wants, but I do think it's a worthy upgrade.
- 55:44Speaker 1: And you know, I'm not really trumpeting anything else they've done.
- 55:47Speaker 1: I think they're solid moves, but this is one that
- 55:49Speaker 1: I think they made an upgrade on the team. And
- 55:50Speaker 1: it's just hard, like what what do you want? Like
- 55:55Speaker 1: what do you what do you need? Like it's just
- 55:56Speaker 1: it just feels like everybody just clamoring for stars and
- 55:59Speaker 1: that's all. That's the only way to do is to
- 56:01Speaker 1: sign star players. That's it. That's the only way we
- 56:04Speaker 1: get out of this is if we sign stars in
- 56:05Speaker 1: free agency. And I mean, I'm like speaking for myself.
- 56:09Speaker 1: It's I don't know if people realize like how ridiculous
- 56:11Speaker 1: social media is during this period, Like people are relentless
- 56:14Speaker 1: about at us like we have anything to do with
- 56:17Speaker 1: it actually at about that. But it's just like it
- 56:21Speaker 1: is like, oh my gosh, how long have we been
- 56:23Speaker 1: doing this? I mean, I mean I have been doing
- 56:25Speaker 1: this for what two thousand and six? I mean seventeen
- 56:29Speaker 1: years have been following every moment of the Patriots and like,
- 56:32Speaker 1: come on, like we know how this goes. I know
- 56:35Speaker 1: sometimes they go crazy and free agents sometimes it's more reserved,
- 56:37Speaker 1: but based on where they are and where they need
- 56:40Speaker 1: to go, I think it's more about the draft and
- 56:43Speaker 1: developing guys than it's going to be about these big
- 56:45Speaker 1: splashes and free agency. All right, we're gonna we're gonna
- 56:47Speaker 1: pay quick question about like the locker room thing and
- 56:49Speaker 1: Jacobe being a problem in the locker room. That's the
- 56:51Speaker 1: most sad possible. I mean, the only thing I can't
- 56:55Speaker 1: say is just like, well, then why is Kendrick Bourne
- 56:56Speaker 1: still here? Because Kendrick Bourne was apparently one of those
- 56:58Speaker 1: guys who was talking to So if they're on a
- 57:00Speaker 1: purge to get rid of anybody who said poor of
- 57:03Speaker 1: the mat puts offense, and where else is I'm actually surprised.
- 57:07Speaker 1: I thought that that I had had no idea about
- 57:10Speaker 1: that take that one of Paul Show has had, Uh
- 57:13Speaker 1: I do it right? Who else? But I actually kind
- 57:16Speaker 1: of feel like it's the opposite exact from where the
- 57:19Speaker 1: opinion was of these guys that have been leaders in
- 57:22Speaker 1: this locker room. You know, they haven't really won anything.
- 57:24Speaker 1: They haven't really been, you know, great on that side
- 57:27Speaker 1: of the ball, and I think they're trying to get
- 57:28Speaker 1: some new energy, some some fresh perspective. And I also
- 57:32Speaker 1: think we've talked about it a lot, Mike. Some of
- 57:34Speaker 1: these guys like Romandre, like some of these are guys
- 57:37Speaker 1: are more quiet, more reserved people, and they don't necessarily
- 57:41Speaker 1: have that that big energy to them. I actually think
- 57:46Speaker 1: that that's more about that than it is about them
- 57:49Speaker 1: being problems. And I don't think they were problems. I
- 57:52Speaker 1: just don't think they looked at the last three years
- 57:54Speaker 1: and they said, what did we really accomplish in the
- 57:56Speaker 1: last three years with this core, with this group of players.
- 58:00Speaker 1: And also Jacoby wouldn't have won the award. The media
- 58:03Speaker 1: awar like if he was really a problem in the
- 58:06Speaker 1: locker room like he was all but yea, what I'm saying,
- 58:09Speaker 1: he was still like great to talk to, win loss.
- 58:11Speaker 1: I mean even after through his Raiders game situation. It's
- 58:14Speaker 1: not it's I think the I think his teammates loved him,
- 58:17Speaker 1: so that wasn't the problems. I think he said things
- 58:19Speaker 1: that irked the coaches. The only thing that he said
- 58:22Speaker 1: was when Matt got pulled for um literally him his
- 58:26Speaker 1: name for Zappi. When he got pulled for Zappy, he
- 58:29Speaker 1: said he was shocked, like he was shocked that that happened.
- 58:32Speaker 1: When it happened, because everyone was blooming and stuff. That's
- 58:35Speaker 1: the only thing that I heard him say, and like
- 58:37Speaker 1: it's the truth. We were all shocked. I know that
- 58:38Speaker 1: you don't say that. You don't say that publicly. You
- 58:41Speaker 1: don't say it because it causes problems, you know. Um
- 58:45Speaker 1: And he said some other things earlier before the season
- 58:49Speaker 1: about the offense a little bit. He says something, listen,
- 58:52Speaker 1: I loved It's great to hear guys that speak their mind.
- 58:56Speaker 1: But that's not the patriot way, not public not publicly.
- 59:01Speaker 1: I don't think there's any I think Bill wants to
- 59:04Speaker 1: hear from people. But inside, keep keep our stuff inside,
- 59:09Speaker 1: you know. I'm at one more point. I also just
- 59:11Speaker 1: feel like if right now, if me and Evan were
- 59:13Speaker 1: on the side of but he knows the system for
- 59:16Speaker 1: a guy, that we'd be getting killed. Like that is
- 59:18Speaker 1: why I'm so well he knew the system, Like people
- 59:20Speaker 1: are saying, well, he knew the system. I'm like, don't
- 59:23Speaker 1: we need more than system was talent all the way
- 59:28Speaker 1: to eight hundred yards every like, what do we I'm
- 59:31Speaker 1: imagining me making that argument to Paul, Papa Paul, he
- 59:33Speaker 1: knows this, like he would be right, he would go crazy.
- 59:37Speaker 1: All right, We're gonna take a break. Foods here, um

- 1:11:51Speaker 1: people have that thought and actually happened that way? It's
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: a tough one, yeah, it is. Um. Some of the
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: emails web radio at Patriots dot com natives are restless.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Richard Hamden, Connecticut says he's mad at Evan. He says, so,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: he says, boy, scouts don't win your super Bowls, but
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: TikTok and bad guys win your super Bowls. Please, this
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: will turn out to be a mistake, mark my words.
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: We had a bad locker room vibe last year, and
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: now you add this guy who thinks he's the star
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: on a team of let's face it, not many stars.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: Doesn't liking your own player account for anything anymore? No,
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: but also was he like that in Kansas City? Was
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: he overshadowing Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey in Kansas City.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: I didn't get on the team. Well, I think that's
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: his point is there they had stars, so he didn't
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: have to be this. I just if you want to,
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: if you want to have an opinion about juju like that,
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: because he likes TikTok and has a little bit of
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: a I don't even want to call it an attitude
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: because I don't think that's right. But that's your opinion.
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: I'm not going to change your mind. No, And if
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: that's what you're concerned about, then I guess we'll see.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: I mean, it's certainly something that has been an issue
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: around here if guys, you know. But to Evan's point,
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: I think that they're trying to change a locker room
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: dynamic and a lot of the bad juju last year
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: was the fact that the offensive side of the ball.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: It is, No, I didn't, but I think a lot
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: of the bad vibes last year were, you know, because
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: they often sen't know what the hell they were doing.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: And so yeah, that was trick it down the fact,
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: and it wasn't like, oh, they had all these bad personalities,
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Like I don't think Kendrick Bourne did anything wrong when
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: Josh mutanny was here the year before and everything was
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: going good. It's now. But look, you're Evan, if that's
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: what you're concerned about, that he doesn't know the offense
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: and that he might make Tiktoks, who knows. Maybe uh
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: Stevie from Texas is mad at Evan too. He says
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: this is a wild He says, let's get something straight. Evan.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: You keep mentioning Jacobe eight hundred yards from last year,
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: but let's not forget he did this play playing fourteen
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: out of seventeen games. You can argue that two of
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: those ju had nine thirty three and fifteen. You can
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: argue that two of those fourteen games he was banged up.
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: He could have easily had a better year than TikTok. Also, Evan,
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: I think you're dreaming if you think we're going to
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: draft a free agent and bring him in and develop
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: him to a star receiver to a star receiver. Quit
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: slandering Jacoby. He's better than any other receiver on the team.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: I think he would have produced well in Bill Leo's offense,
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: and I'm very disappointed we let him walk for TikTok Boys.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: Just to be clear, man, I feel almost bad for Juju,
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: no Jacoby. I'm not slandering Jacoby. Okay, this is this
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: is a for me. This is analysis like a business
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: like they evaluate football players, Okay, Like I don't care
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: about the person when it comes to what they're going
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: to do between the lines, I just don't. And I
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: think Juju is a better football player than Jacoby. And
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: I'm genuinely shocked at this fan base that's been starving
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: for better playmakers on offense, just desperate for it for
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: years now is now coming out and saying, Oh, but
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: this guy was. He was a good he made and
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: he was a good system fit, and he was good
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: in the locker room, and everybody Mac love to like,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: that's what we're gravitating towards that run it back. We
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: used to get making fun of for gravitating towards some
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: of those types of things, and now we're doing that.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: Like I just I'm so blown away to that. Franklin
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: and Baltimore. Lazarre said last show that he wants the
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: Patriots to have a lineup of great receivers just like
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: the Bengals. So why is there contentment over the Patriots
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: signing Juju? Where it is both a statistical as well
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: as analytical fact, he is a lesser receiver than what
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: he showed in Pittsburgh. If the point is to have
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: great receivers, period, shouldn't he want more than Juju? Because
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: I absolutely do. He has proven to be a much
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: lesser player than what is twenty eighteen seasons show, which
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: is the definition of a statistical outlier, no matter how
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: many excuses is given for his lack of production. Well
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: but that, I mean, yes, but like he's also at
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: least demonstrated that he has a ceiling. And I'm you know,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: I'm not gonna say that, I'm gonna I'm in here
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: and expect that he's going to have what he had
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: in twenty eighteen, which was one hundred and eleven catches
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: for fourteen hundred and twenty six yards and seven touchdowns. Like,
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: but it's not like he fell off a cliff. I mean,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: two years later, twenty twenty ninety seven catches, nine touchdowns,
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: eight hundred and thirty one yards. The guy has produced.
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: He's the same age as Jacobe. I just I think
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: he's an improvement. And you can talk about like he's
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: never going to be that guy again. Maybe not, but
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: I think based on the kind of player he is.
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: It's an upgrade on Jacoby Mine. At least he has
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: that on his resume, Like, at least we've seen him
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: in the NFL have a season like he did in
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: twenty eighteen where he was a pro bowler and had
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: these great stats. Like, at least that's on there, because
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: they did in twenty twenty one when they signed Agalore
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: and they signed Kendrick Boorne. That was about projecting forward
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: of oh, maybe this guy could could break out. Maybe
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: Kendrick Boorne. How many times have we heard of Kendrick
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: Boorne breakout? Take right, Like, Oh, he's the guy that
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: they need to feature in the offense. This guy has
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: been featured in an offense and has produced at a
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: high level and has made a pro They got a
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: former pro bowler and people are mad about it. I'm
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: just I feel like I'm living in like an alternate
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: universe right now. He doesn't know the offense. Let's get
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: back to the phones. We do have a lot more emails,
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: um and they're not happy, but we'll get to the phones.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: Xaviers in California, What's what's up? Xavier? Xavier x man,
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: what's up? Xavier. No, yeah, I'm mute. No, okay, we're
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: gonna move on. We're gonna go to New York where
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: Tyson is on the phone. What's up, Tyson? Yeah, what's up? Guys?
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: This first time call along time listener. Thank you. I
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: just want to say that you're welcome. Um. I just
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: feel like I'm like it's a Patriots fan on. I
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: feel like I've been live too, because Robert Kraft promised
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: us an improved product on the field. Meanwhile, you're paying
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: two hundred and fifty million dollars for stadium renovation, but
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: you don't have the balls enough to go and at
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: least talk to Lamar Jackson ask them what he wants.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: It's March sixteen. Well do you know that they didn't
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: do that March team? Yeah, on the field. Yeah he's
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: talking specifically. I mean maybe they did talk to Lamar Jackson.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: I don't know that. I don't know. Yeah. Like I said,
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: my problem is there's no buzz around this team. There's
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: no buzz on social media about this team. We were
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: promised an improve an improved products. At least get in
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: the room, at least like at least gives me something
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: like going for ju Ju a TikTok star. What's the
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: point of having his massive scoreboard when there's not gonna
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: be no point scored? WHOA. It's obvious that Belichick doesn't
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: believe in mac Jones, because if he did, he wouldn't
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: have taken his Binkie and Jakobe Myers away. Like, it
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: doesn't make any sense to me. The Patriot way is, Okay,
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: we're gonna draft you, we're gonna develop you, and then
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: we're not gonna pay you. As a matter of fact,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: We're gonna go out and get somebody else and pay
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: him the same exact money which we should have paid
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: Jakobe Myers. My problem is with this franchise is that
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: you're you're middling. You're middling. You got Aaron Rodgers in
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: the division, you got dog walk by the Bills the
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: last few years. You can't win it the Vision anymore,
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: and now the Miami Dolphins afister passed you. But you
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: want me to go spend money to go see mass
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: Corkle Jones. You throw to Juju Wow when they're off, Like,
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: it doesn't make any sense to me. Why can't Belichick
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: or Robert Kraft just pony up and at least give
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: us a last dance. At least get in the room
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: with Lamar Jackson and ask him what he wants, because
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: at the end of the day, you can't win with
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: this type of offense anymore. If you gotta go out
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: and get a franchise quarterback. And I don't care what
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: he pays for. Why are fans so upset with? Well,
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: what do we dumpster diet? What do we shop at
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: the thrift store? If you want to get better? If
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: you want and you're gonna get that investment back, by
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: the way, because you're gonna get it through Jersey Seals,
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: You're gonna get buzz our social media. You completely change
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: the trajectory off your franchise going forward rather than middling
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: for the next five years something. That's all I'm asking.
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: At least get in the room with Lamar Jackson. I okay,
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: love it. I love the passion. Yeah, that was like favorite,
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: that was that's my favorite call. That was really good.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: That was a mic drop, the whole type of phone call.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Paul would have liked that, and it meant a lot
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: because it came from someone that listens and doesn't always
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: feel the need to weigh in. Today he felt the
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: need to weigh that was that was beautiful. That was
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: an epic call. Now, the chances if they had gotten
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: in the room with Lamar, chances our Lamar would have
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: said something. So they probably haven't. But honestly, we don't know.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: We don't know if they hadn't reached out to Lamar's
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: mom and say, hey, mom, what what does he want?
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: Or you know. I like the point he made about
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: like there's no buzz though, like we'll hear like I
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: don't Patriots are interested in these players social media, but
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: the salary is an issue and it's just yeah, I
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: don't know. I would like to hear more of that stuff.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: I would like to hear that they're getting after it.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: But I think I don't think it's even about social media.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: I think it's about like even what I said on
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: Tuesday in the show of like when you come to
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: play the Patriots, were are you scared of what challenges you? Nothing?
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: Right now? And like what Meanwhile, when we go into
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: the Patriots locker room and they're facing other teams, they're like, yeah,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: we have to try to stop Lamar Jackson. Yeah, we
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: have to you know, try to stop borrow Chase but
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: when you play the Patriots and you go in their
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: locker room, you're asking them, like, what challenges did you
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: face with this offense? Nothing? Just say that about Tyler Huntley.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: So but but I'm saying, like, there's just nothing that,
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: like you really that scares you. It's just been so predictable,
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: so boring, so like it's just not esthetically pleasing. No,
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: and so there is no bus. There is no bus
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: the agency that that would would fit there. I'm with
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: you in the take. But like those players haven't moved yet,
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: and we're all just getting all crazy and all riled
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: up about the fact that the Patriots haven't had to
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: sit down with Lamar. Has Lamar Jackson been traded? Has
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: he Where is Lamar Jackson playing for a different team
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: as he signed an extension with Baltimore? Is there any
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: movement whatsoever as an example, Okay, I'm just Hopkins been traded.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: We need to find money for DeAndre Is. Has O'Dell
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: signed with a new team. Has Jerry Judy moved? Yeah? No,
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: It's it's all good points. It's all good points. But
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: I think that if you were targeting a top flight quarterback,
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: you'd be doing it right now you don't wait on that. Yeah, no, no,
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: but but we don't know if they're doing that or yeah,
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: we don't. But to your point, do you think that
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: like we're going to get an update that Odell or
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: Jerry Judy or we're making one of these trades, Like
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: is that feasible? Like because for me, I've ruled it out.
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: It's a pipe dream. All I can tell you is this,
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: And I try not to say too much because I
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: don't I don't want to get in any hot water.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Those conversations are going on in the building, That conversation
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: about those level of players is going on a hundred
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: yards from here. That the director of player personnel told
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: me in an interview that those conversations are going on.
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: We printed it on Patriots dot com that those conversations
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: are going on about this team that they need to
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: get that dynamic playmaker, that they need to pony up
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: for those dynamic playmakers. Unfortunately, right now, for days into
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: free agency, none of those guys have moved yet. Yeah,
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: and you know, the Patriots don't want to be always,
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: you know, negotiating, negotiating against themselves, so they might have
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: gone to a Jerry Judy or ob j and said, listen,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: we want you here. You know, here's our ballpark. Go
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: see what you're you know, can get come back to us.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: We're interested in you, you know. So maybe it's just
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: gonna take time if it does happen, which I just
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: think is good business generally, Like I mean, I don't
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: want to I mean I don't want to pour water
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: on it, but like, don't you I always just feel
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: like the Patriots weren't, Just like, it's good business. You
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: should reach out on anybody that could potentially help the team.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: Let's say, what do you think and what's it gonna take. Okay,
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: not for us, but we've you know, and then it's
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: reported as well the Patriots checked in on him. Oh
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: my god, you know. Like so, I mean there's varying
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: degrees of interest, and there's also a baseline of due
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: diligence and needing to know what's available around the league,
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: and I think, you know, they're on top of it.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: So and you never know, like the Bengals just signed
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: Orlando Brown, they just spent a ton of cash. So
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: maybe now it's time where they start picking up the
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: phone about te Higgins, you know, because they're not gonna
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: pay him, you know, so who knows. Evan's right, it's early.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: It's early, so let's see what happens. And they haven't
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: really made you know, Juju was like a solid move,
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: but that's not really a splash, you know, like like
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: it's and I think that they still have the resources
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: to make those splash moves. So I think part of
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: it is you need to let it play out a
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: little bit because everybody gets all hot and bothered this
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: first week with you know, teams reaching out to guys,
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: what are you think? And how about this? How about
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: You're going back and forth in all kinds of different
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: ways trying to find compensation that that will work for everybody.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: So it's ongoing. It's ongoing right now, and like Evan said,
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: we're day four, so who knows. Within the next day
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: and a half it could continue to look different. It
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: certainly looks a lot different to me. Maybe not world's
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: different than it did on Tuesday. You know, I'm interested.
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: I don't has anyone heard what Chiefs fans are saying
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: with Myers coming in? You mean raiders? I mean raiders? Yeah, no, no,
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: I haven't seen a wait a wait, he didn't never mind,
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: I'm all confused. Oh my god, Mark that one Tamara
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: was what had up on the screen she had Jacoby
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: looked like he's doing his intro press conference in that
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: uh in that press room that we were that we
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: were in out there in the taj Mahal. So, yeah,
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: it was very sad. And I message my friends there,
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: I'm like, you are getting a gym in Jacoby. You're
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: gonna love him in the locker room. Yeah, I love him.
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: They already have Adam, so I mean, there's great. Let's
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: go to Tyree and South Carolina. What's up Tyree? Hey,
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: I don't know if you said China, but I'm in Traston,
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: I said South Carolina. Oh, soccer. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: First of all, I love Evan, Um. I hate that
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: everybody's picking on him today. He's a great guy, you know. Um.
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: But I think as far as like the off season
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: acquisitions that we're trying to make, you know, maybe we
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: do end up with Mike Kiseki, or know, we get
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: Jerry Judy with the contract that he has, But overall,
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: I don't really know. I think we should really be
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: looking forwards to draft overall for what our future is
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: because we have great pieces on our defense and we
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: have solid resources on our offense right now with the
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: offensive line acquisitions that we've made. So why don't we
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: just look to the draft? Are you guys not hot
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: on this draft? Yes, this is what I've been saying
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: the whole time. It's like, I mean, I you got
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: to do some stuff and free agency to round the
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: roster out and the move like Juju is good. But
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: if this team is going to get back to where
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: they were at the top of the division, it will
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: come through the draft. It will not come through you know,
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: a bunch of splashy free And you got to remember
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: a good draft is you know, if you know in
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: the immediate future is when you get two guys who
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: immediately make an impact. That's a good draft, you know.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: But that's not going to turn around your team unless
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: it's at the quarterback position. Yeah, and it's not going
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: to be at the quarterback position. So yes, totally looking
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: forward to the draft for maybe an impact player or two,
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: but also for building towards the future. Absolutely, it's critical.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: It's critical. You know, how you got into this mess.
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: That's that's how they're setting this thing up, is they're
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: setting this thing up so that when they get to
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: the draft, they get on the clock at fourteen in
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: the first round, they are not forced to take a
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: particular position. They can look at it and say, who's
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: our best player on the board, and we're gonna take
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: that guy. Now, do I think position matters yet? Like,
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: I don't think they're gonna take a running back, right,
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: but they're gonna look at it and say, who's you know,
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: we have these four or five positions that we want
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: to hit on in the first three rounds, four rounds,
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: who's the best guy that we have rated here? I
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: think last year they got into the into a position
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: in the off season by trading Shack Mason and not
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: matching the deal for Ted Carriss where they had to
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: take a guard and they were they were back against
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: the wall at that position, and that's how you get
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: the cold, strange pick. Now, the way that they've set
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: it up, they don't run into that situation. So, yeah,
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: the callers said, the draft is gonna be everything, but
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: we have six more weeks to go to the draft,
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: and I don't think the patients meter is right And
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: just highlight highlight the last two draft classes too. Like
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: those guys need to all continue to take steps forward.
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: Josh Uch needs to take a little bit of a
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: step forward, maybe round out his game a little bit,
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: you know, Marcus Jones needs to like take that step
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: to be the full time slot corner. You know. They
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: need to figure out a way to replace what Devin
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: mccordy did. You know, in piece meal. It's not going
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: to be one guy. So it's just there's a lot
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: of time left. So I get I get why everybody's anxious.
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: I mean the first few days it was, you know,
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: you want some sexy, you want to come out of
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: the gates with a big haymaker. That sets the tone,
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: and it wasn't really what they did. I mean, it
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: is true though, you get an email right at the
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: end of the season saying things are going to change,
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: and I think everyone was trying to be patient all
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: last season with you know, an unorthodox way of coaching
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: a team without an offensive coordinator and other things. So
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: I think like the frustration is stemming from all of that,
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: and it's just, yeah, I'm hard, that's not Let's not
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: underestimate or undervalue the move to bring in Bill O'Brien,
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: you know, when's the last time that Bill that Bill
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: basically fired a coordinator? Yeah, I mean, all they all
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: move on to better things or retire or whatever. But
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: when's the last time that Bill just simply relieved somebody
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: of their duties. I don't google that googe is the
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: only means. But he wasn't a coordinate. Yeah, and he also,
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: I mean, they had Dante coming out of retirement, so
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: r peas a little bit. Did they feel like they
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: kind of try to get out of peas to that? Yeah,
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: that one fizzled out for sure. Yeah, okay, but I
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: thought that he was kind of temporary when he came.
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: But yeah, okay, I don't know. But but it doesn't
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: be surprised. I mean, I gotta be honest, Like, as
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: bad as last year was and as much as all
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: the offensive stuff was confirmed, I'm still surprised that Matt
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: Patricia is just out, like completely. I really didn't see
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: that coming. So I do think it's it's significant. Yeah,
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: let's go to Sean and Vancouver. What's up Sean? Hey? Everyone,
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: I doubt mister Meyers still listening, but we all love
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: Raiders Unfiltered Decided, are you? Yeah? I have to go
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: to that I don't think I will, but you know,
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: he was the best Jacob was the best receiver as
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: the Patriots had the last three seasons. And I think
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: moving to the Raiders is going to be good for
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: him because he has the Vontams there. He's not going
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: to be blanketed on every obvious passing down, so I
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: could see him getting me over a thousand yards. Maybe
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: it's not going to be fourteen hundred and one hundred
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: eleven catches, but I think he's going to have a
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: good year. And but this is this is what brings
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: us back to the Patriots, and we're still waiting Juju.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: I'm still I'm kind of happy. I think he's similar
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: to Myers. Maybe he has a higher ceiling and a
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: better yacht. But if we need we need something else.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: We need that number one and that's that's what I'm
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: waiting for, and we'll hopefully get that. Yeah, yeah, all right,
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: thanks Sean. Um John writes in says I am not
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: mad at Evan. Thank you. I agree that, I agree
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: that Juju is an upgrade, but we still need a
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: wr one. I like the signing, but we still miss Myers. Yeah,
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: so there's just no nobody's disputing that they can't be
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: done with Juju. And I think one thing that I
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: would definitely if we get to the again, if we
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: get to that Tuesday show after the draft and they're
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: just expecting Taekwon Thornton to take a leap and they
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: run it back with everybody else just plus Juju, then
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: I'm not going to be happy, Like I'm not going
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: to be satisfied with that. So that's the one thing
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: that I'm concerned about is that you talk about who
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: would be a nice compliment next to Juju. A speed
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: guy like Taekwon Thornton in theory would be the right player.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: And I am a little bit concerned that they think
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: that Taekwon is just going to be that guy. I
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: just didn't see that enough evidence from his rookie season
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: that he can be that guy. Tim our friend from
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: Duncan writes in I'm hearing all the negative feedback Evan
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: is receiving, and I want to say I am in
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: agreement with him. I like Jacobe, but I believe Juju
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: will be an improvement over him, and maybe he won't
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: throw it to the other team and eliminate the playoffs.
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: Pages from the playoffs. That Wow, that was who was
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: giving you hate? I'm very confused. Oh the emails are yeah,
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: I got it. I was like, I don't know where
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: you're talking coming on him hard. I mean, I did
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: give you grief about the Josh Allen thing. But outside
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: of that, I love that you're taking all the arrows
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: because I've been in completely lockstep with you about I
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: think maybe I'm just I just I get annoyed this
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: time of year, as you all can probably tell, I
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: get I get annoyed because people are so impatient. Like
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: this roster building is a long process. Okay, there's checkpoints
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: throughout the season, the off season. You have the start
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: of free agency, Then you have the draft, Then you
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: have training camp, and there's usually moves, you know, roster
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: cutdowns and that type of stuff. Usually there's some more
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: player movement at that point. Then you have the trade
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: deadline during the season. Like you're different, we are at
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: step one of I would say, really three steps of
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: true player movement, which obviously the draft and the end
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: of training camp being the other one. Just give it
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: some time, like, give him some time. If they don't
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: do anything, then we can all be up in arms.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: But right now, everybody, like Mike said earlier in the show,
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: wants to win the Super Bowl in the first four
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: days of free agency. That's not how it works. I think.
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: I think everyone has that mentality because of the Rams
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: and how they just stacked like and they won the
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: super Bowl. But I get where they are now, I know,
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: but they did. They did what they whatever they could
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: to get the guys there, and they won the Super Bowl.
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: And so I think that when you see they went
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: all in, they literally did again cap space where you're
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: like it doesn't exist. But I think that's why. And
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: I think you see other teams, I guess, well, the
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: Panthers they really needed to get that even steps different
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: with the Rams. Ramsey was a trade deadline acquisition. Odell
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: was released mid season by Cleveland and signed with LA
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: after that, so they still kept adding players that made
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: huge dividends for them in the playoffs. So they weren't done.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: Like they didn't just get Matthew Stafford in February. I
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: think that trade went down early and then they're just like,
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: all right, cool, yeah, see you in the super Bowl.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: Like that. You know, they kept on adding players and
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: that's what good teams do. Yeah, and I think that's
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: what they want. They want the Patriots to keep adding
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: players like the forty nine ers continue to add players.
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: I mean, obviously they had some serious quarterback issues later
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: on that they weren't planning, Like you can't plan for
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: those things. But I think they want the Patriots to
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: become that team. They will take those risks that they
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: want the Patriots to go and get I get that,
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: but you gotta give it some time to to let
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: it materialize. The market is still you know, they really
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: haven't had a tight end that's even signed anywhere yet.
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: Juju and Jacoby Myers are. I think Paris Campbell just
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: signed with the Giants, and I think that him in
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: hardy year in Buffalo. We're starting to see some movement
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: in the wide receiver market, but not not a ton.
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: I also think you want to see the page it's
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: get away from the Patriot way, and like I think
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: that you have to be able to adapt and you
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: have to be able to change with the times, Like
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: you can't just do everything the way you've been. I
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: don't think they signed you do five years ago. I
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: just don't think that that's that's a move. I just
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: I just can't get over though, like they did this
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: and two years ago, like it went crazy and free agency,
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: like you know we're talking about they need to change
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: it up, like they change it up two years ago.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: But those exactly like every rebuilding or are we just
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: trying to patch and like win again and be a
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: top tier? So how would you rebuild a team? Do
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: you think the only how do you rebuild a team
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: is by is like burning down start from scratch and
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: but don't you feel like that's what they kind of
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: did in twenty twenty week. I don't think we can
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: do that. I think we have a rabid fan base.
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: I don't want to see that happen. I don't want
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: to see us tanking. But it's just that that's why
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: people are so anxious and there's so much angst because
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: it's like what are we what? I but also think
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: all that money that was spent, None of those guys
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: I like would have probably spent that much money for it,
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: Like I feel like they were kind of off brands,
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: like they weren't. They weren't like why johnath Smith, why?
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: Like I think there's just those contract I mean, it
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: wasn't just about like the bad contract it was just like,
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: but it's just like just one but those are the
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: most out at the time, that had they done those
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: on Tuesday this week, that the people would not be
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: have the torches out, you know. And the reality of
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: that situation though, was that, yes, we made some free
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: agency splashes, how much difference is it gonna make a
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: little A little like some of these guys will work out, okay,
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: are not going to work out. So I just I
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: just think it's a little bit of a cautionary tale
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: to be like, all right, maybe I'm not going to
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: lose my mind that we didn't reproduce twenty twenty one
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: because I saw how that worked out. Like again, like
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: who are we? I think we're a team that needs
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: to be build through the draft and needs to do
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: it the right way. The way they got into this
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: was they missed on important draft picks, too many, too
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: many high round draft picks at the end of Tom
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: Brady's career, you know, mid midway twenty ten. They picked
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: up Edmond Edelman, they picked up Gronkowski. They found generational
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: players Dante hide Tower, you know, guys that would come
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: in and be part of the championships. They didn't find
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: those guys in twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen.
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: They have to find those guys again. They have to
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: find stars, and they come all in the draft. You
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: mentioned the forty nineteen Fred Warner. What was he a
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: fifth round pick? I mean they exist, like guys like
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: that do exist. I know it's hard, you can't count
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: on it, but you have to draft well, and I
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: just I don't see any other way back to the
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: top than that. Then nailing these drafts, including drafting well,
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: you can't trade back like you need to like stay
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: or trade up. I mean, I think there's an argument
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: you made that you need pure talent that usually just
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: comes at the top. But but you know, depending you
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: get to fourteen and you're like, I don't know, I
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: don't love the like, you know, trade back, but don't
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: pick a guard. But hell, you know, could be instead
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: of fourteen, can we pick somebody at twenty seven and
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: we pick up something in the forty two? You know,
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: I hate to keep apart pining on that Fred, but
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: like that, No, no, no, you're you're pitching in the
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: choir like that. That pick just set this whole thing back.
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: It set this whole thing back at least a year.
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: I will never forget. Like when we were live in
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: the stadium for that show, when that pick was made,
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: you could hear a pen drop in the room. Yeah,
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: pen drop. Poor guy, he said to you, ruined our team.
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: He's awesome, Joe Wrightson, he says, I feel like this
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: is pretty simple. If Juju is the number one receiver,
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: this sucks. No, right, you're right, you're right, but he's not.
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: I mean, you know, if if if they think that
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: Juju smith User is gonna like swapping Jacoby for him,
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: and then we run it back with the Sandy, you
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: might end up being but he can't be that. That's
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: that's not that's not plan A. Let me put it
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: to that one, right, Eric from Amherst Burg. Can we
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: talk about Juju being Josh Gordon two point zero one
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: great season four years ago, who's been with guys like
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: a B and Kelsey taking the pressure off what he's
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: gonna do with this cast. We know, we know what
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: Jacobe gave us and had the chemistry with Mac and
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: was producing. Juju was gonna put up the same numbers
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: as Myers. Okay, well, this is nothing like Josh Gordon.
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: So that was and they're a lot of other issues
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: going on with with Josh Gordon, and I mean he
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: just wasn't even the same player even close. I mean,
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: just go back and watch Juju in the Super Bowl,
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: watch him with Kansas City, like he can still play.
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: So I'm gonna like rewind to something we talked about
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: speaking of people complimenting each other. Look at this picture.
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: I saw this, Yeah, Neil shared Jack Jones and Juju
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: at at USC Trojans wild Don't Don't Don't. Did you
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: go to a lot of games at the Colt? I
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: went to a couple. I had a friend who was
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: a Washington State fan, so he just got dragged to that.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: Actually go Yeah. So the best game that I went
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: to was Penn State USC Rose Bowl. It was dartled
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: against se Quon and it was like one of the
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: best football games I've seen live. They just went toe
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: to toe, four corners, just lighting up the scoreboard back
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: and forth. It was great. USC ended up winning the game.
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: But the closest I got to a Rose Bowl was
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: that I had to like take my boss's sons USC
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: Jersey and meet them somewhere so that they could go
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: to the Vince Young Matt Liner epic game of the
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: century that was that That Rose Bowl. Yeah, but that's
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: another great spot too. They're nice too, too nice. I
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: mean they're old, but you can feel kind of the
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: full policum is fun too. But don't don't get lost
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: walking around the area around the policum. That's too Uh.
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: Let's see Matt and Manchester UK. I said. I just
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: want to say, let's not confuse Juju's potential bad Juju
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: as a media social media guy with his football skills.
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: Juju is a businessman who was into digital content, who's
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: setting up for his career after football. Let's judge him
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: on his football. What I will say is, I'm not
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: sure if Bill will understand Juju's presence in clear love
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: and addiction of social media snap face whatever. I mean,
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: you have to adjust with the times, like I just
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think that that Bill is this.
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: You know, no one can be on social media like
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: get delete your ticktok, like you have to evolve in
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: that record ard And you know, as Tamara said, I
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: mean there's you know, bigger points of evolving in terms
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: of football stuff. But with that stuff, everybody's on it, Like,
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: what are you gonna do. You're gonna have employees come
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: in and you can't be on soci just gonna start
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: referring to him as like player, a player because I
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: think his name it really does. It comes with this,
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: this all this extra baggage of JSS and JSM. We'll
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: get to TikTok and like all this like other stuff
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: off the field that everybody keeps harping on, Like this
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: is another pet peeve of mine. As you all know,
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: this is not about football, Like you're not even talking
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: about football. You're talking about how you don't like that
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: the guy makes TikTok is on TikTok, Like what is this?
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: What does he do on TikTok? I gotta I gotta
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: follow him, I gotta check. I think we should sign
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: o b J and then make it our goal to
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: have all our offensive weapons have three names. Oh, I
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: would love it. From a writing standpoint, I'm gonna get
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: behind that a hundred. It's all initial. That was about
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: a two. I was rely about to text you that
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: last night. I'm like, yeah, I'm done with right now.
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: Smith Schuster, alrighty, oh yeah. James Pettigrew the most interesting
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: Patriots fan of the world says, um, you know, regarding
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: how the Patriots would do business in the offseason, it
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: says there's a difference between good business and always setting
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: the floor in terms of contract offers. Oh, well, they
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: up been the chiefs for juju, so I'm not sure
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: if they set the floor on that one. There you go.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: Let's get back to the phones. The A sticket outline
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: will go to Aaron in Virginia. What's up, Aaron? Aaron,
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: I'm sorry, it's Teren. What is it, Terence? Terrence? Okay, yeah, Terrence.
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: UM for one, thank you for having me. I listened
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: to you guys for the past couple of years now,
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: and it's kind of like my first time. But thank
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: you UM too. I feel like we're in the same
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: position where we were last year, where we have to
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: sit back and watch. UM. I do like the move.
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: I consider it like a D plus from UM. Uh.
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: Sorry to Kobe Myers, but UM is definitely a sit
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: I can you know, wait type of move. We are
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: in a better position coaches wise, UM, We're just really
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: gonna have to sit back and wait. Uh. I do
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: see a lot more explosiveness when it does come to
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: the offense, but I do also kind of get concerns
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: with the defense as well, because a big president is
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: lost with uh um, I'm sorry, Devin mccordy not there
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: so um and we still have Matthews later as a
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: you know, veteran. But on the defensive side, I do
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: kind of brace some type of concerning That's it, all right,
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: Thanks Aaron's for the call. Let's go to um. I'm
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: not Michael in South Carolina. What's up, Michael, Michael, Michael, Michael, Hello, Michael.
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: I think I think a lot of this today. Yeah, Quiet,
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: I think the Juju thing is a good thing to
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: keep in the back pocket of How are they gonna
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: get guys, Mike, nobody wants to play here like Juju.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: Juju picked to play with the Patriots for more money
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: to overplay. We want the locker room guy now, Mike.
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: We want the scheme because can the homegrown town. Cody
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: in Indiana says, I'm disgusted that the team hasn't gone
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: and traded for Patrick Mahomes, George Kittle, and t J. Watt.
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: What are we doing? Good grief? I finally agree with Paul.
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: We are such a winey fan base. I personally like
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: the Juju deal. I think he's an upgrade who provides
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: more playmaking ability than Jacoby. I also would say Juju
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: is not enough and we still need to get a
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: true wide receiver one. But she's callers, calm down, It's
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: March sixteen, shelax. Everyone's on the same page. Some people
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: are just more animated than others. You know what I
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: think about And you know what, it's fine. I'm being
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: a fine like a long time ago. I just accepted that, like,
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: this is sports, and anyone can watch it and do
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: the way they want to do it. And if you
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: want to bitch about what the team is or isn't doing,
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: go for it. And if you want to be overly
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: positive about the go for it. Like it just it
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: doesn't matter. It's sports, Like it's just supposed to be fun.
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: Do it your own way. Mike writes in No Paul,
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: thank god, Evan and Juice are spot on, big upgrade
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: with Juju. It's way too early to start whining. Yeah,
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: I mean it's still Thursday. I mean, like you realize
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: by like through like I mean, you know and honestly
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: like not that the weekend is a deadline. But you
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: know Friday, it's news dump time, and all of a sudden,
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: Oh look seven o'clock tomorrow night. Look what they did.
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: L from Wisconsin says Mike is one hundred percent correct.
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: Teams need to be built through the draft. Too bad,
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: we have a guy who can't draft. You gotta get
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: over it. That's a cheap shot. Uh. Joey writes in
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: I understand why people are upset about not keeping Myers,
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: but I also think it's delusional to say that it
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: was a bad move. We got Juju for less than
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: the Raiders got Myers. He's way better after the catch.
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: I love Myers, and I think it's unfortunate we couldn't
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: retain a guy who truly pulled himself up through the ranks.
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: But the everyone, but the everyone loves the forty nine ers,
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: and they put a tremendous amount of value on Yak.
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: Let's get the wide receiver one and have a good season. Okay,
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: I mean go ahead. I don't know, no, I just
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: gonna say that. You know, I texted you that clip
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: when we were going back and forth. You texted me
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: the whipper. Yeah this is that that's that's my medical text.
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: And then I texted you the clip of him taking
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: that slant like forty five yards against Buffalo where he
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: breaks the tackle. You know, he gets a little bit
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: loose on the line of scrimmage, catches the slant and
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: stride breaks Jordan Poyer's tackle in the middle of the
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: field and then breaks it down for another forty forty
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: five yards and that Jacoby is just not making that play,
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: Like I'm sorry, He's just not making that play. And
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: those are the types of plays that in this offense,
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: especially with this quarterback who you're not going to see
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: bombs away with with Mac's success. One of the things though,
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: I saw one of the compilations for Juju yesterday and
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: it was all Patrick Mahomes off platform there is I
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: think it's a good ain't gonna happen? No, I think
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: that's a good point. The one that's something I thought too.
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: I thought that too, you know, just totally mean a
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: lot of those ones. And I had the same thing
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: about Agalore with his big season with Derek Carr, where
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: it felt like he's got a lot of plays, but
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: they're always like lating the down. He just fires it
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: and downfield. So I I that's that's a point. Yeah,
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: there's one. One of his longest touchdown of the year
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: against Buffalo last year. He like spins out of a
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: tackle and two guys run into each other. That play
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: is not happening. But he also didn't play with Big
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: Ben when he was coming just not that good anymore.
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: So like I feel like he has that's an excuse
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: to marry, you know what I'm saying, Like he has
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: played with guys who aren't don't have the skills as
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: you can say the same thing for Jacoby, Like he
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: played with a rookie quarterback and a guy and I'm saying,
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: but I'm saying that Juju can play with both. He
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: can play with deal with someone who's like but I'm saying,
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: like Juju has played in two styles of offense, like
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: one with Big Ben where he was like nowhere, yes,
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: and then one with Mahomes who's making ridiculous. But that's
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: the biggest difference is you look at those those seven
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: yard passes where a guy like Jacobe probably gets seven yards, right,
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: he gets it, but he catches it and it maybe
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: it's third and six and that might move the chains
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: in that situation. But Juju has that ability to take
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: that seven yards and turn it into twenty five. And
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: that's something that I think in that specific role in
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: their offense is needed because you're not going to get
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: more explosive and more dynamic if you're going seven yards
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: at a time. Now you have somebody that if he
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: makes a guy miss, all of a sudden, we're in
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: the open field and we're running away with it. They
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: didn't have that in this offense, and they need more
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: of that. I just that's to the bigger point. I
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: just feel like they have no guys that get yack.
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: I mean, it's like the whole team. It's like everybody
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: catches the ball and falls down. And that was part
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: of the you know thing I hate about build set.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: But some of the hope with with Thornton is like,
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: you know, can we have an offense and maybe this
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: is you know, goes to the to the offense last year,
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: but you know, can we hit Thornton and stride on
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: a slant just let him go, you know, like let
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: him do what your buffalo guy thing, or just he's
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: just running over. It's like just run over, race the
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: guy to the sideline. We're gonnait. Get the hash and
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: turn it up. Where do the odds And we'll see
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: Marcus spilling offense again. You'll see him, but they should
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: be counting on that's not fair to him. And I
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: don't think that's two or three plays a game. You
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: should have enough offensive weapons that you don't have to
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: go to that. But I think he's too good and
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: why not, Like you know, I just I'm all for
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: developing Marcus Jones until like one of the most unique
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: and interesting players in the NFL. You know, to your point,
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: and you know, what are we excited about? Exciting about him?
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: Like this could be a legitimate three way football player
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: who contributes, you know, going forward on all downs. Before
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: I go to the next person on the ace ticket
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: hut line, is this is this name? Correct? The person
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: from California? Faith twel Winder? It is? Okay, we'll see
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: uh so tal Wonder in California? Is that right? Did
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: I get your first name right? You did? You did? Yes? Okay,
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: that's a that's an unusual first name, but okay, yeah,
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: I've called a few other times, Bred you got my
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: name right every single time, so it's me. We'll remind
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: him next time. So there, Eric, thanks for taking my call. Man.
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: I just wanted to call in. I was listening and
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: I just wanted to show some show some love to Evan.
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: You know, he's be't getting beat up, but I think
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: he's right. I think we've been super spoil wes. Need
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: to relax, calm down, and have some patience. You know.
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: I think Jude was definitely an upgrade over Jacoby. Jacoby
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: was a great locker room guy. But come on, what
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: are we doing here? We want good locker room guys.
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: You guys talked about how these days, just those diva
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: receivers that they are, they're making this big, big kind place, right,
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: you know, a j Brown or DeAndre Hopkins or Devantae
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: ad him. So I think we need to be a
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: little bit more patient. I'm not sure if we're gonna
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: get one of those guys. Maybe hopefully we can't get
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: DeAndre Hopkins or someone else. But I think we've got
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: to be patient and and just just relax a little bit.
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: I know, to Jets to making him move the Dolphins
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: and making them move. Will you owned the division for
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: two decades and I think it will be back. So
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: just have some patients, relax. It's a it's a long
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: term process. Nice Okay, thank you, thanks to win. Someone
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: even killed. Let's go to Ronan in the UK. What's
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: up Ronan? My name is Bob Hi. How are you
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: guys the first time caller from yank Kingdom? Okay, on
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: the first time or is today? I'd just like to
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: respond to what I believe Xavier said from Carolina earlier
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: in the call talking about Mac Jones, and he said
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: that he doesn't think mac Jones is a franchise quarterback,
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: and I'd like to argue in favor of mac Jones. Okay,
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: I watched Mac Jones all season. I thought he has
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: way more potential than a lot of people give it
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: give him credit for. And I'd like to go through
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: the last five games of the season with Mac Jones.
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: So against the car play by play, we went down
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: early and Matt Jones came back with twenty unanswered points.
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: Against the Raiders, there was the you know, Jacobe Meyers lateral.
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: We almost went into overtime, and I feel like we
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: had a lot of momentum in that game. Against the Bengals,
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: we were twenty two to zero and then he came
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: back all the way and it ended with a fumble.
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: We all know how that went. We beat the Dolphins
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: in what I thought was a really really good game
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: for Mac, and then against the Bills after all what
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: happened with the heart attack and all that, they go
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: on the field and is a kick return for a
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: touchdown and Mac Jones comes on the field with the
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: offense and runs for a touchdown. In that game that
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: Patriots had more offensive points than Josh Allen and the
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: Bills did. So I'm totally on board with Mac Jones.
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: I think he's going to be great next year. I
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: disagree with all those people who want to bring in Lamar.
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: I think giving out two first round picks, but that
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: is a bad idea. And I'm on board with Juju
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: and I want to receive or that we don't need
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: to give picks away for because I like those bick
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: all right. I love it some positivity, that's all. Where
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: I kind of like to see Paul do his thing.
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: It's kind of fun now, yeah, now you know, And
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: I love the defensive Mac. Yeah. Um. I will say
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: though that nothing on the offense looked right last and
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: including Mac. But was he a victim of that of
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: the whole disarray? Probably, So we'll see. Yeah, you know, um. Now,
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: Paul playing the part of Paul, Paul will point out that.
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: And even in that rookie season where you know he
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: was good, he wasn't good down the stretch. You know,
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: something happened down the stretch and you know the team faded.
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: So but we'll see. Let's let's go. We've got a
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: real offensive coordinator in here. This is now his third year.
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: I still believe even if Jacobe was still here and
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: Juju wasn't, that this group of offensive players did not
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: live up to their potential last year and they were
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: better than what they showed, and that could have been
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: part of the offense problems too. Let's see what happens
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: this year. I you know, I'm not here saying we
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: got to get rid of Mac. I am not saying
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: that that that you know, to me, we're not worried
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: about the quarterback position right now, right now. Yeah, maybe
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: we will be at by the end of the season,
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: but right now, I'm not worried about that. I'm worried
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: about everything else. Yeah, the quarterback position right now to
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: me is settled for this year. This is what it's
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: going to be, and we're gonna see what this kid
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: can do. And let's build the rest of the team. Yeah,
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: I agree. I mean, I don't you know, I don't
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: think he's totally you know, without blaming some stuff, there
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: were some stuff I wish that we were a little
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: bit different from Mac. But I agree, and I think
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: that this is the year about let's give him a chance.
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: We're giving him an offensive coordinator that you know, he
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: knows a little bit. I know it was a brief
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: passing a time that they were together, but you're giving
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: him some different pieces to work with. Now, we got
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: to know, we gotta know this year. I but I'm
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: with you. I think we got to know this year.
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: We'll find out this year and then you know, then
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: you're then you're talking about next year. All right, where
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: is it? I just hope, you know. To Paul's point
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: is that he doesn't think that they're going to do
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: enough to really truly get a sense of Mac or
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: to give him enough, and that we'll still be saying,
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: well he really didn't have that. No. Listen, for some people,
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: he did enough for them to believe he's not the guy.
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: So why can't in a season he do enough to believe?
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: You know, it's unfair, It's unfair. So let's let's just
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: see when it comes to mac um. You know, does
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: he have to work on his you know, his comportment
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: is absolutely absolutely um. But he's a tennis guy. I
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: get I get it. You know, uh, figure it out.
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: Is he a good locker room guy? Though he's got chemistry?
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: I think a lot of I think players were saying
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: they liked to but I think, yeah, I think guys,
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: uh oh going to the Steelers. Wow, that's a good place.
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: He's a full buck. That's a good place you can play. Oh,
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: and Steelers are releasing Miles Jack. It's yeah, Um, let's
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: see Calvin and Connecticut love the fire in the Call
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: of Xavier. But I'm not sure if it's all correct.
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: There is some truth to trust the process. It's only March.
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: But where I do agree. I used to have fun
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: watching the Patriots and go into games, even if they
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: didn't win it all that year they had Brady and
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: Gronk and Edelman stars where you saw the stadium full
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: of jerseys. Who makes you want to buy a jersey? Nowadays?
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: Maybe Jude On. I don't know. It hasn't been fun
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: to watch the last few seasons get stars or draft
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: and develop stars. It hasn't happened in five years. Your
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: team will perform better too, Higgins or Judy or JSN
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: and I will jump for joy. I think, yeah, Jude
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: jerseys for sure. Juju could sell some jerseys. It's as
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: funny as I'm like, I'm all for like Jerry's Judy.
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: That's great, but really, like, is that really the guy?
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: They need some speed on the outside now, which is
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: why I go back to that. I'm well worried that
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: they think it's Taekwon, but yeah, they need some They
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: need some speed on the outside because Juju is going
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: to be the one in the middle of the field.
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: You gotta get those safeties off of them, open up
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: some space. How it says, it's official. The Patriots have
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: the whiniest fan base of all. Good God, it's been
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: like three days. Let's relax and see where it goes.
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: My takes love Jacoby and what he brought to the team.
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: Jujiu is a good replacement and a slight upgrade. Robinson
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: is an upgrade over Harris assuming he's hell. Reef and
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: Anderson are solid pickups, and Bill depth resigning Pepper Jones,
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: Davis McMillan McDermott, Fern's slater all solid resignings. The division
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: Rogers to Jets is far to Jets two point zero.
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: Ramsey defense great player, nice pickup, still can only cover
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: one receiver at a time. How Tua goes is how
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: the team goes. Not their best defensive not the best
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: defensive back. Bills lost the decordinator and their best tackling linebacker.
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: Let's relax, have some patience and see where this goes.
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: I am interested to see how what Buffalo does to
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: whether that storm a little bit because they're a team
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: that we always say to kind of tease the Bills
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: fan base. I think a little bit. But at the
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: same time, I think it's valid that sustainability is the
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: hardest part. Like you got the quarterback. I think you're
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: gonna be relevant for forever because you have the quarterback.
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: But Leslie Fraser's out, Tremade Edmonds is out. I think
- 1:58:12Speaker 1: Jordan Poyer Micah Hyde are getting up there in age,
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: like how do you start to to get that next
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: wave behind Josh Allen in there? It's going to be
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: interesting and expectations are raising, and it's like I think
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: the fan base as I was, and we all were
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: you're aware, it's it's ticking. You got this quarterback, You've
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: got it going right now. But every season is very valuable.
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: All Right, that's gonna do it. For this edition of
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: Patriots Unfiltered. Catch twenty two is next Evan. Two more
