- 0:00You idiot. Yah, do you know what you just gave up? Who
- 0:04the hell are you the wisest, wettest man you'll ever meet? Go On,
- 0:10you just walked away from the sweetest, most beautiful woman a guy could
- 0:13want. In ten years, she never had the last slice of pizza,
- 0:17and she's never complained every election. She wishes she could vote for both guys
- 0:22because they both seem nice and there's a light inside her that makes everyone else
- 0:27look better. And you blew her off, dude, She's got three kids.
- 0:34Really well, she's still great. Four finger discount due. Welcome to
- 0:54Fourthing your Discounts where this week we're going to be reviewing the episode regarding Maggie,
- 0:59I'm at It and I Am Guy. Welcome to the episode. A
- 1:03very season seventeen episode. One might say I liked this one up until the
- 1:08point at the end, like I didn't. I actually thought, in my
- 1:11nose, this was actually the best version of Himer we've had this season until
- 1:15the last twenty seconds, Like they just couldn't help themselves, like Tummy at
- 1:19one point in this episode where Hammer was a bad husband. Look, you've
- 1:22got a good point. For some reason that it felt to me like him
- 1:26trying to win Marge back was not necessarily out of love, was more sort
- 1:32of like out of wounded pride or something like that, which makes sense.
- 1:37I guess what makes you say that because because everyone else, everyone else was
- 1:41remembered and you felt like, oh, I'm being left out, you know,
- 1:42and he sort of he was doing all his various things to try and
- 1:46win her back. But I don't know, none of it felt sincere.
- 1:48Maybe I am just sort of tainted by a lot of recent episodes we've had
- 1:52where Homer has just been a dick. I mean maybe, and this episode
- 1:55to some degree felt like, you know, the Simpsons stuff, recognizing that
- 2:00and pointing out and messing around with it and having a bit of fun with
- 2:02it and maybe saying, well, yeah, maybe we maybe we could break
- 2:07them up or something along those lines. What did Homer do to win Marge
- 2:14back that you feel like you wouldn't have done? Just say, Louise lost
- 2:16her memory and you couldn't and she wanted her to remember you to grab for
- 2:20a nice dinner, took her back to their first date, treat her to
- 2:23flowers and gifts, and then gave her the space she needed when she wasn't
- 2:27quite ready. Okay, yes that's true. I don't know yet. I'm
- 2:34not saying I wish I had to explained why this episode sort of rubbed me
- 2:37the wrong way. It's just I don't know why I did. I mean,
- 2:39it's not one that I hated, and it's not one that I even
- 2:42kind of like, oh, this feels lazy, although I mean one of
- 2:46my notes is is this going anywhere? Because I think it took a very
- 2:50long time for them to sort of reach the even if it didn't actually take
- 2:54that long in actual time, if we're like this first bit is going on
- 3:00forever and it's kind of like a whole bunch of oven. I've really enjoyed
- 3:02the opening act. I thought it was a believable and really simple home as
- 3:06scheme that I could buy into, like he's getting in the mail of somebody
- 3:08else and and he's just not telling anybody about it. It reminded me of
- 3:13when we had the last one, where we had The Frozen mail Man,
- 3:15where the opening act was just like it could have been a story in or
- 3:17something. I thought that the idea of Homer getting someone else's mail and living
- 3:21their life and then Marge I thought Marge joining in eventually, and then them
- 3:24trying to keep it a secret from the kids that they're living this double life
- 3:27on the side as this other couple could have been a story in itself.
- 3:30I actually didn't mind that you're reading a lot more into it than I did.
- 3:35To me, it just felt like, Okay, yeah, they're getting
- 3:38someone else's mail and occasionally taking advantage of it. But oh no, No,
- 3:43it just felt like it was spinning its wheels for the longest time until
- 3:47the inciting incident of Marge losing her memory. Because that happened like the four
- 3:52minute mark, the Marge losing her memory. Wow, because it felt a
- 3:54lot longer to me. No, yeah, because she because she had lost
- 3:58her memory before the end the first act. Okay, because it ends with
- 4:01Homer one of my favorite moments. I'll get to that, but it ends
- 4:04with her in hospital. But yeah, I've got to go here. I'm
- 4:08really enjoying his opening acts and feel like they could have stretched this out.
- 4:11They really wanted to two more of like an a plot for an episode and
- 4:14have a beplot sort of as filler as well. But I just think the
- 4:16idea of Homer and Marge living this double life and the side by getting by
- 4:19getting the incorrect mail and not telling them about it is. I was all
- 4:24for it. I liked it. I liked that idea in theory, I
- 4:28really don't, I mean the whole Okay, yeah, we've got we've got
- 4:31the Yeah, I'm better blow one of my trivia questions. We've got their
- 4:35mail. We got the wine coolers mail. It's like, oh wow,
- 4:41they're getting nice steakes and oh they read they read these fancy magazines. Oh
- 4:45they got invited to a wedding and all this kind of suthings like yeah,
- 4:47maybe the grass is green on the other side, and you know this kind
- 4:50of stuff. You pitched it very well. Say now I'm thinking about it's
- 4:55like, oh yeah, because my theory is that's like you could have Lisa
- 4:59saying you can't I've been doing this, and all of a sudden, this
- 5:00extra couple that they've been getting the mail of has a daughter who gets like
- 5:03pony writes subscription or something. Lisa's like, but you know, I couldn't
- 5:08enjoy writing ponies, and Lisa buys in as well, and all of a
- 5:10sudden, the Simpson's family living this double life as this winegarten. There's the
- 5:13answer question, wine gun. They become and you have the wine gardens and
- 5:17they're living their own life as the wine guns. Well I wish, yeah,
- 5:20I wish they'd done that. Now, I wish I wish they'd been
- 5:24the whole episode. I think, I think another thing that kind of rubbed
- 5:29me the wrong way. And this is this is very much a my problem,
- 5:31not the show's problem, everyone else's problem. Marge losing a memory by
- 5:38way of of a bit of a shadowt to Million Dollar Baby, the Clinicswood
- 5:43movie where Hillary Swank is the boxer. I mean, do you lose a
- 5:46memory by clonking her head on the on the stool. If you've seen Million
- 5:49Dollar Baby, it's maybe from two thousand and four. Hillary Swanks a boxer.
- 5:55She's, you know, one of the Best Actress Award for that film.
- 5:58She won the best actually one of the Best Actress oscar for that absolutely
- 6:02spoiler, but she's in the ring. She gets king hit from behind,
- 6:05falls down, hits her head, hits her neck on a stool, ends
- 6:09up quarter replegic. It's it's a really good movie, but it's so fucking
- 6:13depressing. I mean, I remember I remember watching it not long agoing,
- 6:17oh my god, this is just bumming out for the rest of the day.
- 6:21So yeah, for for March to sort of lose her memory in that
- 6:27way, I'm like, not exactly, yucks. But anyway, as I
- 6:31said, my problem, I think I will say that I had here his
- 6:34little a little nippick for this episode was that it seemed a little off that
- 6:39Marge would be throwing Home out of his own house because she doesn't remember him.
- 6:43But then my defense for it was maybe they're sort of pitching a Homer
- 6:46is just willing to give us some space until she remembers him. But you
- 6:48know, the kids, they clearly are sort of saying too much, No,
- 6:53he is dad, Like you know it's yeah, and there would be
- 6:55proof, there would be photos and there would be histories. Like just because
- 6:58you don't remember it doesn't mean that he's not your husband. I do get
- 7:00the fact that you don't might not love him anymore, but you don't really
- 7:02remember him. But it's like, clearly here is the father of these children.
- 7:09Another thing too, I wanted to touch on we mentioned it earlier,
- 7:11was the ending here, So you had Homer coming to Marge's defense, which
- 7:15I think is honestly one of the better Homer moments we've had in a very
- 7:18long time, because he did all of that defending Marge to this stranger without
- 7:25any idea that she was even listening, just doing it because he's just like,
- 7:28she is the best woman in the whole fucking world. How could you
- 7:30possibly do this to her? And then they ruin that by having that last
- 7:33twenty seconds of her remembering me. Because you get drunk all the time and
- 7:38you're own enabler. Of course I am, and that's why we're a perfect
- 7:41couple. I'm like your letter the plane. And then you started to get
- 7:45a crushed into the ball, like what are you doing? Like you had
- 7:48you had your ending, You had it right there, you just had to
- 7:53reach for it and you kicked it away. Why why? That's when that's
- 7:59when you put up the active abuse of credits, and that's when you started
- 8:01running the closing credits. That's when you have the doo doo doo doo doo
- 8:05year because we don't need that last Yeah what was it ten fifteen seconds?
- 8:09Yeah, well, actually close to the thirty seconds of yeah, all there,
- 8:13you get drunk all the time. You enabled me I'm now we're driving,
- 8:16you're drunk right now? Sure I am? It's oh man, so
- 8:20yeah, it's like I forgot it was season seventeen for a saying you had
- 8:24me, you had me? Why you're you lost us? Like, oh
- 8:31boy, just can't help yourself. You're fucking just cannot help yourself. You
- 8:35have a perfect fucking ending for the story and you fucked it. Why?
- 8:41God, I was angry. I was so fucking angry. I got to
- 8:43the end. I was like, what a lovely little sentiment, sentimental endingy
- 8:46flat. We haven't had these for a long Oh wait a minute, I'm
- 8:48was drunk driving in Margins the Enablo Okaya? Was this episode codependent da because
- 8:52you wouldn't fock know the difference between these two endings. Horrors. Honestly,
- 8:56I was really angry, and you shouldn't get this angry an animated show.
- 8:58But when you're reviewing this show every single week, and very rarely do you
- 9:03get the moments for success when it comes to like a truly sentimental ending that
- 9:07felt well earned, and then they fucked it? Why? And maybe that's
- 9:13why I know you said, yeh didn't like the story throughout, but I
- 9:16feel like that ending would have left like a full stop on your negative thoughts
- 9:18in the episode, because it would have left you with a bad frame of
- 9:22mind. If I had ended with the sentimental ending, you may have gone,
- 9:24oh no, it wasn't that great, but at least we had the
- 9:26ending at the end. But because it ended with that shit, you're just
- 9:28like, oh, well, fuck this episode. You know that's true.
- 9:31Yeah, when you stick the landing, it's it's easy to forgive anything or
- 9:35not anything, but many of the faults and have come before it. And
- 9:39you're right. I mean, that was a touching sentiment and a very nice
- 9:43way to sort of wrap things up and to you know, get back into
- 9:46the status quo. But it seems like there's a lot of meanness in some
- 9:52of these recent episodes, like yeah, just a bit of a bit of
- 9:56a mean spirited feel to them in some parts, and that ending there right
- 10:05to me, I'm just thinking about this right now. How would you end
- 10:07it? Because Margine needs to get her memory back, she needs to remember
- 10:09home before the end of episode ends. You could go of what they went
- 10:13with and have the fact that she admits that she's an enabler and that's why
- 10:16she's the perfect wife for Homer because he's an idiot. Or you could have
- 10:18her over listening in on him talking to this guy without him realizing, and
- 10:22her going, I remember you now because you're the only person who truly understands
- 10:26me. Fucking that's it. Done and yeah and it all walk off into
- 10:31the sunset with the fucking sea breeze and a nice little song in the background.
- 10:33Done. Fuck me, it's not that hard, guys, as as
- 10:37he as Marge hears him saying these nice things about it. Cut in a
- 10:41few flashback bits. Cut cut to them in high school. Cut to them,
- 10:46you know, being all lovey dovey and all that kind of play the
- 10:48get close to you, that that their song is close to you, play
- 10:52that like, fuck you has it right there? You could you could see
- 10:54it, and it looks it's it's an easy lab and it's and it's very
- 11:00uh. Yeah, it touches us when we want to be touched, so
- 11:03to speak. Yeah, but no, you did it another way and the
- 11:09wrong way. There was a it was a fifteen centimeter part and you pulled
- 11:13out your driver. Honestly, just like, fuck me, I was just
- 11:16like, what is happening of all the things to have done. You did
- 11:20it, like, I just didn't get it. I was just like,
- 11:22the fuck. But the episode up to that point I really enjoyed. Honestly,
- 11:26I really really enjoyed it. But man, they screwed that ending.
- 11:30My favorite What were your favorite moments from regarding margin, mister, mister Simpson,
- 11:33mister Davis, that's Simpson. My goodness. Look, I did have
- 11:41one, but I didn't enjoy. It's when Homer is basically being kicked out
- 11:45of the house and he's got the speaking. That's about like classics, classic
- 11:50Simpsons to me. It really did like that works with hiccups, not have
- 11:52kneed, still keeps trying regardless, and at the end I got a bit
- 11:56of a kick out of that. Yeah, you got a kick out of
- 11:58Mode answering you around in the sewich. Should we tell him? Let him
- 12:01enjoy the man? I think he struck oil and Homer, what have you
- 12:05done to my face? Next question? You're there eating the paste, all
- 12:13right? Hit me with your first question. Oh, I've already sort of
- 12:16blind one like who's ma were they getting? And the mistaken name that Homer
- 12:24gives them? So what kind of hair does the maid find? Not not
- 12:31not a nice straight one. What is the curly one? She had a
- 12:35particular name for it. I thought she said it curly here, I know
- 12:37what what did she say? Did she did have a name for it?
- 12:39What was it? It was a curly whirly, A curly whirly? Yes,
- 12:43okay, delicious che But you know, also, you don't want to
- 12:48find a pube. I feel like pubic hair and pube like they're so different,
- 12:54Like if I found a pubic hair, but okay, if I've had
- 12:56a puber, like, yeah, a pube. You do think anyone outside
- 13:01Astray uses the term pubes? Let us know, listeners Simpson's mailbag at gmail
- 13:05dot com, do you guys use pubs as well? Pubes is our term
- 13:09for pubic care. We don't say pubic. We shortened everything. I know
- 13:13many countries shortened things, but we like to shorten everything, So public care
- 13:16is just pubes. I've heard Nicholas ay pubs, but she's also lived in
- 13:18Australia for a decade, so maybe that's what she's I just can't imagine our
- 13:22American friends saying, oh, yeah, pubes us. We'd love to we'd
- 13:26love to hear from you, guys. Tell us. How do you define
- 13:28how do you define pubic hair? What is your remember it? It doesn't
- 13:33really seem to be all that popular these days. People are getting rid of
- 13:35it. Yeah, it's all gone. Yeah, laser surgery, bam,
- 13:39see you later. My first question is what transformer was our homer in the
- 13:43opening couch gag? This would proclude my knowledge of transformers. I'm going to
- 13:48say Optimist Prime. No, no, Megatron, you idiot, there's Optimist
- 13:52Prime. I put the easy one for you. I'm like, this response
- 13:58will be I don't know transformers, but I only know Optimus Prime. And
- 14:01if you did that, and just like the Simpsons, you fucked it.
- 14:05Well, here's a much in my notes. I'm like, I've written down,
- 14:07Okay, the title is this the board gag? Is this couch Voltron
- 14:11question mark? Oh man? All right, what's your next question? Ned's
- 14:20cat's birthdays on the same days as who's ah Patty LaBelle some thing of Patty
- 14:26LaBelle? M. My next one is the stakes are from? Where?
- 14:31Oh omahu m correct? What on? Hey? Nice one. I'm not
- 14:39sure if we've got any more questions. I've gone on point in case you
- 14:41can find one more. I've got who when side show malon, who is
- 14:46he even talking to its sea captain? Sea captain, that's right, yes,
- 14:50I've got my notes. But for that part, okay, I feel
- 14:52like feels like Sea Captain's becoming like another side show Malle. It's like the
- 14:56shoehorning him into everything. Now yeah, okay, So Sarcha mel is on
- 15:03whose shoulders? That's my question, Disco disco stew No, no, I
- 15:07think of channel six. I think of Channel six. I think of the
- 15:13episode we just record a sexual frishman pander or a whacky mascot or a wacky
- 15:16character. Oh oh oh, bumblebee man, bumblebee man. Yes, oh,
- 15:24because yeah, the sea Captain is on death man shoulders. Yes,
- 15:28correct, yes, because death men bet on the wrong horse or something says
- 15:31something on those lines. Yeah. All right, what's your next question?
- 15:33If you have any other ones for me, I've got one more. I
- 15:35don't have any more, so give me yours. What were the three little
- 15:39products that are Marge used to create a little concoction that coursed her to pass
- 15:41out? Oh gosh. One was called zug lemon centered zud zud, a
- 15:48bramo or a brazo, a braise it, a braise it and oh gosh,
- 15:54what was the third one? Was mop and brag, Mop and brag,
- 15:58that's right and brag. I'm just reading to Wikipedia page here too,
- 16:02by the way, So apparently it guest starred sal Bando and Gene Tennis or
- 16:06Tennis as themselves and they are part of the seventy four Oakland Tenland. A's
- 16:11all right. So the chop all gag was I will not leak the plot
- 16:12of the movie, which no timey little chalk gag then, because the movie
- 16:17was soon to come out in two thousand and seven, so I still a
- 16:18year away though, but I guess by this time they're already announced that they
- 16:22were working on the movie. And I remember at the time it was very,
- 16:23very exciting. It's very exciting for a Simptons fan, despite the fact
- 16:26that it was well past the point of peak Simpsons, still felt excited that
- 16:30we're finally gonna get the Simpsons on the big screen. But the catch gag
- 16:33was the Transformer one we were mentioning earlier as well with Homer as I think
- 16:36I think it means Vultron, which one came first, Vultron Orld Transformers.
- 16:41I wonder which no idea. Let's got a Vultron. I'm gonna google this,
- 16:44Vultron or Transformers. Which came first? Vultron or Transformers first? The
- 16:49answer is Vultron was the first, premiering in nineteen eighty one as Beast King
- 16:53Go Lion. Transformers Series one premier in American syndication in nineteen eighty four after
- 16:59the release of the toy line. They've both continued in one form or another
- 17:02between the late twentieth and early twenty first century. There's a great episode of

- 17:15TV, isn't it. But it's a really good episode, but very informative.
- 17:19Yeah, there's a really good episode about the Transformers actionline, and it's
- 17:22good one about poweringeres as well, the Powrangeress ones. It's incredible the story
- 17:26behind that. But yeah, check out the Toys that made Us. The

- 18:06the description of this podcast. Yeah So. The episode was written by Mark
- 18:11Wilmore and directed by Mark Mike Frank Polcino. The episode kicks off with Bart
- 18:17Millhouse and Nelson spray painting the addresses on the gutters of people around Springfield.
- 18:22I remember this specifically happening to us, where a guy came to our door
- 18:26and he was like, I've just painted your number. Is when I lived
- 18:27with my mum, when I was like a teenager, just painted the number
- 18:30of the house on your gutter. It's it's ten dollars. And I was
- 18:32like, did mum and dad say you could do that? No, No,
- 18:34it's just the thing we do, and you just pay the ten dollars.
- 18:37And I was like, why don't have ten dollars? He goes,
- 18:40okay, he's my dad home. I'm like, no, okay, then
- 18:42do you know what time they're going to be home? I'm like no.
- 18:45I'm like, you can't just come to someone's house paint something on their fucking
- 18:48property, which is not I guess the gutter is not technically our property.
- 18:51It's the cancels. But it's like you gotta just paint something there and say,
- 18:52all right, now you're going to pay me money. It's like me,
- 18:53what, yeah, but this literally happened to me. The guy was
- 18:57like, okay, well, do you know where theyre going home? I'll
- 19:00come back And I was like, no, you fucking won't. No,
- 19:02you won't. If that if you're a bonaparte, leave an invoice, yeah,
- 19:08yeah, and your contact details so we can come to your place.
- 19:12Mo rocks out the front with a gun that he thinks he's firing, but
- 19:15it actually goes off on its own and he thinks the classes up and joint
- 19:18having the number there, and he shoots into the ground by accident strikes our
- 19:21sewage but looks like oil. They say, just let him have his moment.
- 19:25Ned then offers some honest work for honest pay by painting his garage,
- 19:27like no, we don't want that, and he tries to hand him from
- 19:30Christian comics as well. I didn't get the names of the comic books.
- 19:33I apologize. Then Homer reforms called pious something like that. Yeah. Hammer
- 19:37refuses to pay, so they said we're gonna leave you one digit short,
- 19:41and Hommer then screws it up because it says seven to four and should have
- 19:44written two. He put zero. But he turned into Oakland A's best team
- 19:47ever and listens like what are you doing? Does like what one number?
- 19:49And then the Oakland A's come pass and give him a honk, but then
- 19:52he rubs it off and the post lady, she's very confused. She delivers
- 19:56a package of mail order stakes from Omaha to Scott and Brenda Winegarten and as
- 20:02Homer calls him, Brendan Wine call Brenda wine cooler. Yes, by then
- 20:07questions in shorts, I think I want to be eating or going through other
- 20:10lippers mail, and it justifies, you know, all this time we're getting
- 20:11all this ship mail. I'm finally getting which people mail and Home in bart
- 20:15no one can rationalize, like you Dad. Then mart Ufer's Marge an invitation
- 20:18to a wedding. So at this point Marge isn't aware that it's not their
- 20:22invitation, is not their not their wedding, which I guess kind of dumbs
- 20:23it down a little bit. But anywhare they go to the wedding for Mark
- 20:26and Tracy and Marks Like I thought he's blind, but he's so confident with
- 20:30these movements. This is Kent Brackman and the Springfield Keys reporting to you from
- 20:36the middle of a hurricane. The lid from my coffee cup is long gone.
- 20:41Girl. I'm scared, people, truly scared. Take that liberal media.
- 20:48Then Marge wins in it what she gets the mail for the cleanup Clean
- 20:52for a Day contest, And I was like, the only thing here is
- 20:55well Marge got the mail she would have seen on the front that has said
- 20:57Brenda Winegarten list. See. I thought when Home was talking about the wedding
- 21:03invitation that Marge was a sort of already in on it. It seemed that
- 21:08way, didn't it. Yeah, yeah, it's a better way to get
- 21:11to where they got to by having Marge sort of no, and then go,
- 21:15but look at this. Cool things we're getting, much like ooh,
- 21:17that's how that's I think the story of that episode should have been everyone's saying,
- 21:21you can't do this, but look at this. You might like this,
- 21:23right, I would like that. Actually, let's go, let's go
- 21:26along with this, and one by one each family member gets hooked on it,
- 21:27you know, because yeah, it's very relatable everyone. Everyone's kind of
- 21:32susceptible to, you know, the grass being greener on the other side,
- 21:34and you know, here's a nice way to roll around in that sweet green
- 21:38grass. Did you have you ever received the rom mail? And how tempted
- 21:42were you to open it? I've received the numerous times because we have a
- 21:45nineteen like the street over and they're constantly because our side of street, the
- 21:49way it works is sort of like a block, but in between the block,
- 21:52there's like a road that goes in from one side to the other,
- 21:56so it's like a square, and then like houses around the outside of the
- 22:00where but through the middle of it is. There's a light street that goes
- 22:03through which also has a nineteen, so we're constantly get in the nineteenth for
- 22:04that house. I'm just like, so I'm constantly like delivering it to the
- 22:07point I regon once every three weeks we get in their mail. Here's the
- 22:11thing. Here are two separate stories sort of related, okay, ones and
- 22:15anecdote and wants the story. The thing it is. I live at seventeen
- 22:21such and such street. I just don't want you all the fans of four
- 22:26kinge oh no. But I'm on the corner of these two streets. So
- 22:33I'm number seventeen of this street, but there's number seventeen of the other street
- 22:40that's right next to me. It's fucked, You're it's honestly fucked. It's
- 22:44it's kind of fucked. So it's real like it's guys on the corner.
- 22:47Yet the house next door to him is the same night as fucked it is.
- 22:52And now there have been many occasions when it's like, I didn't order
- 22:56this, U breeds, but oh man, should I have it? Oh
- 22:57God, that smells so good. But no, I'm always going, but
- 23:02yeah, have you hadst delivered to your house by accident. Oh yeah,
- 23:06the next doors. And I'm like, I didn't order this, but no,
- 23:08it smells so good. No, no, it's it's next door.
- 23:11You have to go that way, okay, f I No, Well,
- 23:14so there we go. I've got I've received mail occasionally and he has popped
- 23:18in the mailbox next door or whatever. But the other thing is, if
- 23:22we're talking about the wrong person's mail, different story. Listen to the show.
- 23:26I'm not sure if Danda kept this in. He's pretty good with the
- 23:30editing. He probably just said this is boring, I'm cutting it out.
- 23:33But during a recent recording, the problem with poplars and I left that in.
- 23:40The delivery man arrived and I'm like, oh, this is that thing
- 23:42I ordered. It's in a package. It's I mean I ordered a pair
- 23:45of socks. This is a bit bigger than a pair of socks. Being
- 23:48very wasteful with the packaging. If you want to hear that shit, it's
- 23:52available right now on our Patreon for Taylor the Future. I'm it's hilarious.
- 23:55So like basically ends with me saying, all right, keep it. I'll
- 23:57give you fifty percent of what it's worth. I'll give it nickel for a
- 24:00boat paid person. Here's the thing, Hyeah, did you actually do it?
- 24:07It's a woman's shirt and a pair of leggings. I'm like with these,
- 24:10may says the color was very nice. The lovely Luise has been going
- 24:15gang buses on the eBay recently, you know, selling items for clothing and
- 24:21that kind of Well, honey, I received these these items, you know,
- 24:26by mistake. How about you put on my knee bay if we sell
- 24:29on make a lot of money. Then I got an email from the organization
- 24:34that I that I bought the stuff from, saying we believe there has been
- 24:37some mistake with delivery because yeah, the outside envelope had my address on it.
- 24:42The inside receipt had the person's name on it. So the person who
- 24:47never heard of a company doing it before, like the follow up. Usually
- 24:49it's just like I said him another one. They said, you a follow
- 24:52up, and what happened? They send me the follow up? Yeah,
- 24:53and I'm like worries. I went to lu and I said, I've think
- 25:00I think the jig is up. I think this is pre emptive calma,
- 25:06you know, so I'm gonna have to get these We couldn't find them.
- 25:08Oh shit, I've taken the I've taken the clothes over to lose and she
- 25:14you know, we're going over see she's doing a big clean up. It's
- 25:17a bit like this. It's a bit like this episode as well, because
- 25:19you know she's got a house that are coming over. The house has got
- 25:22to be immaculate before, you know, the stranger clean the house with the
- 25:26cleaner. Yeah, so you know, everything had been put away and we're
- 25:30looking all over that we we eventually found it was like, oh my god,
- 25:36if their last we're so screwed. Not so squad, but this thing.
- 25:38What are they going to do? They it's not none of this is
- 25:41your fault. I know it. If you do have it with your my
- 25:45seeing it back, they can't actually threaten you with anything like they sent you
- 25:48the wrong thing. That's their fucking problem. It's a their problem. Exactly.
- 25:52In the end, we found them. I took them into the store
- 25:56and geelong, I said, it's your problem now shipping back to thing.
- 26:00Come out of this, Lead me out of this. And the girl behind
- 26:03the canna put it in her bag and took her home and she's currently wearing
- 26:06them on the first date that is career and I'm still screwed. They're gonna
- 26:12take my thumbs. The thing is, though, if you hadn't done anything
- 26:15about it, it's like you said, karma, you would have got to
- 26:18the airport and would have gone, oh, we're really sorry, so but
- 26:19we actually accidentally feeled your seat. We have no room on this plane for
- 26:25you. Would you mind wedding another couple of weeks? Like that's that's karma
- 26:26would have got you back somehow. It would have been some Final Destination ship
- 26:30or something. They should totally do you reckon. Final Destination is available on
- 26:37planes as a movie to watch, Oh my god, what's the episode?
- 26:41If you'll look it over and seeing someone watch Final Destination on the plane,
- 26:45don't have In the episode of The Simpsons when I think when oh, you
- 26:48know, it's like, hey, here all these movies you could watch,
- 26:52and was like Alive, We're a plane clashes or Feelers, We're a plane
- 26:55crashes. That maybe like check out these got their fear of flying, they'll
- 27:00check out these great movies. It's probably when Marge is a fear of flying
- 27:04that might have been the one. Yeah, I think so they've all got
- 27:07these inspirational titles like Alive and fearless. Maybe the homely Likes buys rents movies
- 27:12for Marge to watch to overcome a fear of flying. That's probably what the
- 27:15game I think. Yeah, I don't know. They go there's been somebody
- 27:18who's just being an idiot who's watched Fine Ones the Nation or what's another airplane
- 27:23crash movie, like a big one? Oh gosh, oh die had to
- 27:27die? Had to Yeah, okay, Conair catching a flight to Las Vegas.
- 27:34But anyway, so Marge is cleaning up the house because she gets the
- 27:37clean for a Day contest. She's going to get someone to come to the
- 27:40house and clean that the house. Homer denies that that they's actually getting the
- 27:42fake mail, and then we get Brenda at the door, and that's the
- 27:45end of that basically, And isn't it. It's just feels like there was
- 27:48so much more to explore there and they just didn't do it. But Marge
- 27:51then cleans before the cleaner arrives, and she's a vision of what she thinks
- 27:55the cleaners talk about when when they're working. Then she sees a spill on
- 27:59the law, which is a combination of maple syrup baby spit, and I
- 28:02believe shoes scuff or something on those lines, and there's a ring at the
- 28:06door. She don't let that judgment or bitch in my house. And then
- 28:08she creates a little concoction the fumes of course her to pass out. She
- 28:11hits her head on the chair, which is the Million Dollar Baby reference.
- 28:15She wakes up in the hospital and she feels like she's being punched by a
- 28:18boxing man, which was in case you didn't get the reference before. And
- 28:22but the thing is, though, if you hadn't seen Million Dollar Baby,
- 28:26even with March saying that, you still wouldn't get the joke. Like,
- 28:29I don't think so, no, I mean, I mean it was a
- 28:32popular movie at the time, but I mean, yeah, Hillary's hitting her
- 28:36head on the hitting her neck on the stool is not necessarily it's like,
- 28:38wow, a magic movie moment. It's not necessarily something that everybody remembers.
- 28:42And in case you weren't aware, Hibot is officially doctor Nick now holding up
- 28:48the fingers in a jar. I'm just like, this is not the Hibot
- 28:51from the night here is long as Rogman says, doctor Hibott from the Golden
- 28:56Area is long gone. Marge has lost her memory. She's opening her eyes.
- 29:03Oh, my head feels like it was punched by a boxing man.
- 29:07How many fingers are my hole to go? Oh? Very good, Now
- 29:12I'll put them back in the jar. Now I have a question. Who
- 29:17are you people? She doesn't recognize us, You munster? What have you
- 29:23done to my face? We cut after commercial. Marge is reading Amnesia monthly
- 29:27with tips on finding your way home on the back pages, has a brain
- 29:30with a question mark over it, and he explains that Marge has retro grade
- 29:36amnesia and you need to jog her memory, oh jugging, and then something
- 29:41to turn your amnesia too. I'll make it so your amniia go scramnesia and
- 29:45private private room for her, come as the man who's sleeping, and she
- 29:48thinks of Hummers, her uncle. And she said, how like there's so
- 29:51much more ravage than I am. And the kids like explain who they are?
- 29:55And I'm your favorite. I don't think I could never have a favorite.
- 29:56And he talked to me in a week and bart what's across bike?
- 30:00And she says, even though I'm quite amnesia, I'm got an idiot.
- 30:03Then there was time to go home though, because the insurance company they said
- 30:06you're as well as we're gonna pay for but then talks down their house and
- 30:11home starts choking. I think you can almost put the choking to bed now,
- 30:15right, It's almost like they're acknowledging how silly it was. I mean,
- 30:18in the nineties it felt it fits the show, but now it doesn't
- 30:22anymore. Yeah. I think when the show first started, like, oh,
- 30:27this family is just like you, and you know, you'd never have
- 30:30a family on TV that would be like, oh, I got a corporal
- 30:33punishment this kid. Yeah yeah, And of course the Simpson took it to
- 30:37extremes, but yeah, now and now it does feel kind of played out.
- 30:41It's like it's almost like see the Lane or Choke the Sun. We
- 30:48now have a tour of the town, almost driving her around, choke her
- 30:51memory again. We get side show Mela McAlister on top of the shoulders,
- 30:55a deaf man and bumblebee man and I'll just go here, what mccallister's here?
- 30:59Now we're going on here, And of course these sides show mail moment
- 31:03for the episode. I can't record the last episode We've gone without him having
- 31:07a piece of dialogue. But they're fighting over what was the best type of
- 31:10Cherry, I think, and they're March points out, why is it drugs?
- 31:12Maraschino, yes, and then March points out why is it drug add
- 31:15it driving a school bus? And I'm like, it's almost like it's a
- 31:18Frank Grimes scene here, where it's just like someone in the real world going
- 31:22to Spriver and going what the fuck, like pointing out how absurd this town
- 31:26actually is in all. Honestly, I think you only need a Frank Grimes
- 31:30episode once in the show's entire run. But the thing is, though,
- 31:33by the time season seventeen to come around, there would have been a generation
- 31:36who may not even remember the Frank Grimes episode. That's that's nearly ten years
- 31:38prior. Okay, if you put it that way, because it's honestly,
- 31:42I put The Simpsons on and it pains me at the moment because the kids
- 31:47aren't quite old enough to really understand it. But when we were a kids
- 31:49growing up the nine, it's the Simpsons were appealing. Some of it was
- 31:53a lot of it was the humor, but most of all, it was
- 31:56just these this cartoon on television. They know they're yellows. They looked different.
- 32:00It was like you looked at the visuals and you found that funny.
- 32:02But kids in twenty twenty three, like Home Holly and an Alliott. They
- 32:07don't want to watch a show that has ninetient emotions. They want to have
- 32:10a show that it was crisp and clean and HD. So they enjoy watching
- 32:13the new ones because they look better. When they get older, they'll appreciate
- 32:15the old ones more, but at the moment, they like these new ones.
- 32:19So it's it's made me. It's made me sort of see these new
- 32:23episodes and the different likes. I'm just like, Okay, there would have
- 32:27been kids who grew up with these episodes that we're currently reviewing season seventeen,
- 32:30and they have that nostalgia for them as well. Just because we didn't grow
- 32:34up with them and we didn't like it because it wasn't the way we grew
- 32:36up with doesn't necessarily mean they're bad. I mean, we've gone back and
- 32:39they're are. They're not great, but they're also maybe not necessarily for meat.
- 32:45Because I'm comparing it to what I grew up with. You, You've
- 32:47got to really see it from both sides. It's not just they're bad because
- 32:50I don't like it. It's I don't like it for these reasons as opposed
- 32:53through they're bad doesn't mean just because I didn't like it doesn't mean they're bad.
- 32:55As what I'm trying to say, You're exactly right. I mean,
- 32:59and it's a tough one, you know. Was he you know, get
- 33:01a little older, it's like, oh yeah, I mean, well the
- 33:04sentence did it perfectly? It was like, am I wrong? No?
- 33:07The children are out of touch? And I mean, yeah, you've got
- 33:10to recognize that. No, nothing's going to be as enjoyable as you know
- 33:15the first time you saw it, or you know, the first time that
- 33:17you encounter something. I mean. I mentioned that with Mitch on our latist
- 33:22of Reviews talking about Temple of Doom. How I mentioned, with your Temple
- 33:23of Doom and I didn't really enjoy it as much as I did when I
- 33:25was a kid. And he mentioned Superman four and he's like, Superman four
- 33:29will always be his favorite Superman because it was the first Superman that he saw.
- 33:31And it's true, the first one you see of a kind of That's
- 33:32why Temple of Doom will always be my favorite, regardless of what I think
- 33:36of it now, is because it was my introduction to Indiana Jones. You
- 33:38know, yeah, absolutely. I wonder if there's people out there who like
- 33:42Return of the Jedi more than the first two Star Wars films, because that
- 33:45was the first one they saw. Possibly. I mean that last one was
- 33:49really targeted towards kids, with the ewaks and stuff very much. So,
- 33:52I mean, this is this year is the fortieth anniversary of Return of the
- 33:55Jedi, and there are a lot of restrospective pieces, and yeah, more
- 33:59than a feel of them were saying this is my favorite Star Wars movie.
- 34:01And of course, you know, yeah, you know Star Wars heads going,
- 34:06this person's a full But Nicola liked it the most. When when we
- 34:09watched Star Wars the first time, she walked out and she goes, I
- 34:12think the last one was the best one. I was like really and she's
- 34:15like yeah, yeah, she's like the most fun and the good guys won,
- 34:19and I was like, oh, put it that way, I guess
- 34:23to reach their own man. Yeah. But they get home the Simpsons and
- 34:29Hen points out the sun and never touch it and then they hear Maggie and
- 34:31I've just got here. So who was watching Maggie? Oh boy? But
- 34:37it was ned there at that stage, ned was outside the window. Oh
- 34:40okay, Maggie just walks in from the living area and there's no oh boy,
- 34:45there's no one sort of reference to who was watching her. But she
- 34:47hears Maggie the sucking sound, and she remembers Maggie. Then Lisa a little
- 34:52know it all, and she hears Millhouse is like tost tolerant, tolerant,
- 34:55and she remembers that as Bar's best friends, he's not a who was Bart's
- 35:00friend or something? Anyway, You're not my best friend? Now who's got
- 35:04amnesia? And I'm like, why is Bar so cruel to Meal House?
- 35:06But he's been crueled the entire run when we reviewed Summer A four four two,
- 35:08and he was meaning that as well. There must have seen you remember,
- 35:12like he's always been mean to Meal House? He really has. And
- 35:15then Homer thinks that he's next, as you would be. You know,
- 35:17it's time for time to remember. But but she does not remember him at
- 35:22all. And it must be something unpleasant blocking my memory of you. That's
- 35:25a pretty unique distinct ideology to come to. It must be something unpleasant blocking
- 35:31my memory of you. Why would you, why would you ever think that
- 35:35it must be something unpleasant blocking my memory of you, but that Flanders arrives
- 35:38and his cat's birthday same day as Patty LaBelle. Homer is now using the
- 35:43photo album to try and rejeeg those memories as you would get the photos of
- 35:45him fighting President Bush and the current President Bush, which apparently is the only
- 35:51time the George W. Bush appears on The Simpsons as himself. He also
- 35:54appeared in the one with his dad, but he was the cutout. It's
- 35:58your son, Jeb and jog Pus Junior and also showing that bag your appels
- 36:05who's boss in the photos as well, and Home suggests them snuggling and she
- 36:08has no snuggling means. And now we've discussed this, I think, but
- 36:12did the Simpsons come up with the term snuggling for sex? You were of
- 36:15a mind that they did? If I feel like I hadn't, well,
- 36:17I hadn't seen it beforehand anywhere snuggling? Can you call anyone else saying snuggling?
- 36:22Want a snuggle? It feels like a word that's been around forever,
- 36:25But then so was the Simpsons. Then it's actually quite good. Oh,
- 36:30how about any whispers? You describe me? Had a parallel park? You
- 36:36used to love my non sacredness. Why can I remember everyone in town except
- 36:40my husband? Simple? Your brain is trying to save you from your backed
- 36:45up toilet of a marriage. Have you been talking like this from my entire
- 36:49marriage? Oh no, no, We've always honored your choice. I don't
- 36:54know I should give home or a chance. But on the other hand,
- 36:58I feel nothing for this is horrible. We've got to tell Dan. Oh
- 37:08no, Burton, lie, They're gonna tell me something horrible. What by
- 37:15the police department? A hang glider? You said, fright? Crime from
- 37:17above? You said? You said, you're only one hundred and eighty pounds,
- 37:22Shut up and look for crime. Homer then arrives home with gifts because
- 37:25heart is a symbol for love. He's trying to win Marge over. Were
- 37:29getting fifty first dates vibes in this? Yes, that as well? Absolutely?
- 37:32And I mean there was also a movie made after this. Certainly what
- 37:37year was fifty first dates? Don't yees? So? Okay, they're probably
- 37:44paying tribute to that. There was a movie a few years after this called
- 37:45The Vow One Yeah movie though, isn't it a bit? Yeah? Sort
- 37:53of based on a true story apparently about a woman who woke up from Kama
- 38:00with yeah, like retrograd Anesia and liked didn't recall her husband, and so
- 38:06he sort of, well, we're meant to be together forever. I'm going
- 38:09to win you over all over again. I think they eventually did end up
- 38:14together, which was nice. So two thousand and four was fifty first Dates,
- 38:16and apparently the film was remade in India as Satha Yah Bahama in two
- 38:21thousand and seven, and there's another one in two and fourteen they got remadeers
- 38:25and then in Japan they got remade to fifty First Kisses and twenty eighteen in
- 38:30Iran you got made in two thousand and five in Mexico had his own version,
- 38:32so very six. I really enjoyed fifty first Dates. Oh, I
- 38:37mean I loved Drew Barrenmore and Drew Roan Sand the two of my favorite actors
- 38:39actresses of all time. They've just got that connection, don't they. Those
- 38:43two were just like, how are you guys not in love forever? Like
- 38:45how are you guys so much Travolta and living in Newton John It's like how
- 38:49did it never happen? You know, you feel like at some point in
- 38:52their lives they've gotten down and dirty, right, they had to have like
- 38:54like how can you not do It's it's just it's like magic every time you're
- 38:59together. I look at the budget of fifty first day, it's seventy five
- 39:04million box office one ninety eight. Oh my gosh. But there was a
- 39:07portion of astonished that it cost seventy five million to make. But yeah,
- 39:12there was a portion of time though where it just felt like Sunda could really
- 39:14do no wrong, couldn't it. And then he sort of started getting it
- 39:15and you really started released a few films. You're like, oh, I'm
- 39:19not too sure about this, but they still fucking made money. That's the
- 39:21thing. Oh yeah, we are very pro sand Man here at the four
- 39:27Finger discn network, And yeah, he seems to have got it. Sassed
- 39:30you know, Sad do you have a listening to this? I would gladly
- 39:31have you come on this podcast and just do four hours of her. Bother
- 39:37man I Sandlon just doing the tire interview, just oh I love Itam Sandler
- 39:45just seems like such a guy like looks after his mates. Just yeah,
- 39:50yeah, don't come and talk to us about it. Yes, we'd appreciate
- 39:52it. You'd have fun too. I'm sure you like the Simpsons, Adam
- 39:59Sandler. You must have a favor an episode out there. And I don't
- 40:00think the Simpsons ever hung shit on Adam Sandler. They have, I've blocked
- 40:04it out of my memory. Indeed. Well, when we get a little
- 40:07busy with the socials in a little while, let's add Adam Sandler on this.
- 40:09I mean that, I'm sure he checks his Twitter on the regular.
- 40:13Let's do that, indeed. But then, as we said that the police
- 40:16are stuck in the tree, Home arrives with a gift. That's right,
- 40:19and he takes it to dinner at Luigis. He's paid Luigi to sing a
- 40:21song. Luisa says, my many truly hates. I'm like, why what
- 40:24is home every done? To Luigi? Yeah, he wish he's understood Italian
- 40:29and he takes it disturb Putter lots merry old play Center where they had their
- 40:32first little down and dirty moment in the in the old windmill there, and
- 40:37Marsh's I'm not that kind of girl, and he says, well, you
- 40:39know you loved it when the windmill tapped your button. It's like, no,
- 40:43you genuinely wear that kind of girl. March like like, that's the
- 40:45one thing we've enjoyed about this couple is that they're they're willingness to just go
- 40:50for it like that. They seem not kinky, but like a very active
- 40:53sex life. Yeah, uninhibited, shall we say. And look, if
- 40:59I can offer any advice to the people out there, it's like, find
- 41:00yourself a partner who will do it on the put put course. And then
- 41:05that's not euphemism. The best thing that ever happened to her was forgetting about
- 41:07him, and it feels a little much felt. It was like, yes,
- 41:12you've got a family of three. This story, yeah, this particular
- 41:17story has to go along a certain path. You know. Well they've got
- 41:21a break up or they've got it. You know, she there's got to
- 41:23be an obstacle where she doesn't want to get back with this guy. And
- 41:28okay, yeah they've done that, but they've gone about it in I don't
- 41:31know a way that just feels not right. I mean it should have been
- 41:36just like I know you're trying, Homer, but no, I'm not feeling
- 41:38it. I don't know who you are. I can't live this way.
- 41:42You just haven't like that as opposed to I'm insulted and you're just the worst
- 41:45and blah blah blah. Yeah, I don't know. Maybe that's why this
- 41:49sort of didn't bring true to me. I don't know. I do think
- 41:52Homer trying to lay the moves on her before she remembered him was probably a
- 41:54little bit much like I was like, ease up, mate, that there's
- 41:57time for that, probably trying to Yeah, he's trying both the character and
- 42:01the stick. So speaking. Then we get Skinner and Edna. Unfortunately for
- 42:06Seymour, his birthday is over. We're coming from commercial and Marge has kicked
- 42:08at home and now she's kicking him out or he's given us some space anyway.
- 42:12The kids don't want him to leave. Bart says, you know,
- 42:15I've got this garden of fs on my report card. You planted them all
- 42:19and a Homer tries the spooking method, which was very funny. Boot Marge,
- 42:24I realized you've made up your mind, and I want you to know
- 42:28that I deeply respect You're boo that watch my hiccups not amnesia, I know,
- 42:32I just thought maybe boo oo. So he moves him with Grandpa until
- 42:38Marge remembers him again. Let me get Marge, Patty and some on their
- 42:42way to Showy Field. They're taking her to a single mixer. Patty in
- 42:45someone not very horrible in this episode, horrible, very unsupportive, Yeah exactly.
- 42:52I mean it fits the character, I guess, but still, I
- 42:53don't know. I feel like someone and Patty have turned someone to a corner.
- 42:57I feel like the whole we hate Homer angles kind of gone out because
- 43:00I've had the moment of Homer helping someone get the baby and Homer helping Patty
- 43:04marry her wife, and I'm just like what, I get the feeling they
- 43:08could still be kind of they could be Marge can do better, yeah,
- 43:14and you not take them to the single mixer and things like that. Well,
- 43:17I mean they're taking Marge's lead, heer. I mean, Marge's kicked
- 43:21home around of the house, so you know, I can I can kind
- 43:23of buy them going, oh, well, she's single, now let's you
- 43:29know quick, let's fix this up before she comes to her senses and you
- 43:31know, hook her up with someone else. I can buy that. It
- 43:34makes sense to me. It makes sense that Patty and someone would do that,
- 43:37and I can see them doing it in a way that's not like we
- 43:42hate Homer, but more like time for Marge to do it right, time
- 43:45for you know, time for a do over, if you know what I
- 43:47mean. Yeah, could you ever do speed dating? I don't think I
- 43:51could do it. I just too awkward for me. No, I feel
- 43:53like I played the long game. I couldn't win someone over in five minutes
- 43:58precisely. Yeah, the way I see people down over time, you know,
- 44:06this is just ten chances for me to make ten bad first impressions.
- 44:10Man actually refers to with exciting only people. Just how you met your husband.
- 44:14Oh no, I met my three friends like normal people. But then
- 44:16we have marched on a date, so that the killer husband. What time
- 44:20did what you did? Forty old version come out? That would have been
- 44:22after this, wouldn't it because we had a speed dating scene and that didn't
- 44:24we Yeah, two four was twenty seven forty year old versions. In no
- 44:34way, that movie is nearly twenty years old. Surely two five, Holy
- 44:37fuck, it's eighteen years old that movie. That's madness. I can't believe
- 44:39the movie came out eighteen years ago. So this that came out a year
- 44:43before this episode came out. Yeah, so it wouldn't have been a reference
- 44:45to that movie. But I'm just surprised that movie came out that long ago.
- 44:49I can't believe it's really two decades. Two decades, father Time just
- 44:52here to make fools of us. All. It's one of those films where
- 44:57ever, since I've watched that movie, I can't look at Kelly Clarkson and
- 45:00not laugh. All Right, So basically, yeah, Marge, they're going
- 45:06to the speed dating scene, but the killer husband Marge pushes the horn with
- 45:08the nice man, decent living. It's just he's very Georgia stands and the
- 45:12nice member, the decent living isn't he got the chip on his shoulder.
- 45:15Yep. And then we got the guy who she thinks is a male gay.
- 45:19I was like, that was an odd lion. I think he's a
- 45:22male gay. I'm like what. But then she she finds a guy who
- 45:28is similar brothers to Patty and Summer. They you know, they took they
- 45:31brought him here and he's suggesting that we're adults, let's go get a cup
- 45:35of coffee. I feel like I watched it and I was like, I
- 45:37feel like that's how Guy would when Guy I found the right person, he'd
- 45:39go, we're adults here. Let's just go have a cup of coffee.
- 45:42Like, I feel like this is what you would do. That's very nice.
- 45:46Like I do like to think I would behave this way under that circumstances.
- 45:55I smell romance. It's a perfect night for love. Would you pretty
- 46:00ladies care to join us for some champagne? Go suck a rat ass and
- 46:04over. Then the phone rings at Grandpa's and Paul Grandpa is so lonely,
- 46:07he tells him to savor the sound of the phone ringing and turns out it's
- 46:10Lenny and Carl. And then has happened to see Marge on a date.
- 46:14He's touching her arm and they're both very quiet, and it's not the awkward
- 46:16quiet either, so that needs to be said silence, yeah, but yeah,
- 46:21but it's not an awkward silence. Homer then arrives. He's hanging out
- 46:24by the rocks and he sees the guy and oh my god, he's Marge
- 46:28add my dream man. And he said they're gonna make a play to try
- 46:30and win a back. When he gets a whole over him, get swamped
- 46:35by over the seaweed and everything, and he's just thankful that she's finally found
- 46:37someone that makes her happy, and I was like, this is too good
- 46:42of Homer, is too nice? Is something's happening. I don't understand what's
- 46:45happening here. And then Marge comes clean. She goes, okay, I
- 46:47feel like we're both you know, we'd be honest here, and this guy
- 46:50just walks out on her and Hommer confronts the guy, and I was like,
- 46:52I've got my notes here. This may be the best Homer moment we've
- 46:54had in the seasons. It honestly is like this felt like like classic Homer
- 47:00because I like the most about it was that he wasn't aware that she was
- 47:04listening. He was just making that guy aware, like you always like you
- 47:07idiot. You know, in ten years, she's never had the last last
- 47:10of pizza, and she's never complained. You know, she wants to vote
- 47:13for both people because she what was the reason? I know that she thinks
- 47:17they're both nice. There's got to be something good about each of them.
- 47:20Yeah, yeah, yeah, and she's a lighting side of her that makes
- 47:22everyone else look better. And I was just like, that's actually like so
- 47:25lovely And the fact that he didn't know margin was listening to that it's just
- 47:29like, this is the Homer that we love. If you can produce this,
- 47:35do this more often. I know I've said that a lot lately,
- 47:37but it's like, if you can do this, why not. But I
- 47:39do like the dude. She's got three kids. Really, but that's fine.
- 47:45That that's slimness. But Margin really appreciates it. And this is where
- 47:49the episode should have ended. So let's end it here. You know,
- 47:52something else happens. We already mentioned that, So let's just say Margin Homer
- 47:59get back together and live happily ever after. No, I'm going to do
- 48:04I'm going to get out man Jaden Lebron, who can do a good personation
- 48:07of Simpsons for characters, and I'm going to get him to read doub what
- 48:08March has in this scene, and then cut it to them walking off into
- 48:13the sunset with a nice little like you said that the flashbacks were birds and
- 48:16walking off happily hand in hand together. That's what this needed. I don't
- 48:22want to go on a rantic game, but my goodness, that last scene
- 48:24it triggers me. It really like it just I just don't The thing is,
- 48:28I just don't understand why they felt a need to do it. Why
- 48:30do they need to remind you? I know you think there's guy's getting back
- 48:34on tracking is pretty cool, but really is a dirt bag, and she's
- 48:36an idiot for allowing him to do it. She's the third problem. She's
- 48:38the enabler. It's all March's fault. Like what, they don't blame his
- 48:40guet. You think they would have recognized by now that you know, Yes,
- 48:45the Simpsons is a comedy, but you know it's a comedy with heart,
- 48:49and that's why we tune in. You know, we don't need you
- 48:52to undercut Sometimes you don't need to undercut the good emotional payoff with Oh,
- 48:57by the way, these are the jokes. Folks, don't do it sometimes
- 49:00just go go for the sap be saba. What do we learn Balmer?
- 49:05What'd you learn from the episode? Mister Davis? Speed dating would not be
- 49:12my forte. I would just be I would cut out two dates in say
- 49:15let's go get a cup of coffee. I learned that three I learned that
- 49:17from you. I'll let that three kids as one too many. From forward,
- 49:24your name be all right, it's time for the Guy Davis New Name
- 49:28Championship. Now we didn't have one last week because last week was the episode
- 49:31that we're Mitch and I reviewed many many moons ago, so we wapped it
- 49:35up on the feed. So we've skipped a week. So the current leader
- 49:37board still stands at this In our first position, we have Luke mccon sixteen
- 49:42points. In second position, Kyle muldoon and Heath apple Be both on twelve,
- 49:45and in third position we have Adam Moorehouse on ten points. All right,
- 49:49hey me, mister Davis, what do we got this week? Okay,
- 49:52one point goes to Huma. That's pretty good. That's very good whom
- 49:59with a question mark. That's our man, Luke McKay. He's done it
- 50:01again. He's now in seventeen point spot on. So that's a very good
- 50:04title. I really appreciate that. That's a pretty good one. It's not
- 50:07quite as good as the one that gets two points. She's momnesia. Oh
- 50:10not bad, not bad, that's all. It's our man, Mark Boston
- 50:14Burgess. I'll tell you what. Mark is climbing that leaderboard. He's now
- 50:16on that two points gets him on eight points. He's probably not going to
- 50:21win it, but he's like he's getting up there. He's doing well.
- 50:22Mark boston Burgess there with it with a two point. He's now at eight
- 50:24points one on, so some good dark horse stuff from Mark boston Burgess.
- 50:29Three points goes to don't you forget about me? That's a winner, It
- 50:36really is, isn't it? That is hot dog? That is our David
- 50:42Mott. So David Mott. Wow, David Moss now at ten points.
- 50:45Look out, Luke, they're coming boy you buddy, Yeah, alright buddy,
- 50:51But that's very good. New leaderboard currently Luke McKay on seventeen and first
- 50:53Kyle Molding Heat that will be still in second on twelve and now David Mott
- 50:57is tied with Adam Woohouse in third on ten points. Remember I want to
- 51:00be a part of this is going to be part of the Fourth Finger Discount
- 51:04Patreon group on Facebook where you can be in there for a little as two
- 51:07dollary dues. We can support the show and help keep the lights on here
- 51:10at the Fourth Finger Discount Network. But now, mister Davis, it's time
- 51:14for some mail bag questions. Mailbagail demail is here. First question here Andrew
- 51:21JP, the top contributor. If you go buy this Facebook little thinking,
- 51:25I says here. Why do you think the teen season has so many Marge
- 51:29Homer marriage and turmoil plots where the writers going for shock value by splitting Homer
- 51:32in Marge up all the time, or they just run out of ideas.
- 51:36I don't know if it's a case if they ran out of idea das,
- 51:39but they seem to have some sort of infatuation with splitting them up, don't
- 51:43they. And it's just rinse and repeat a lot of the case, isn't
- 51:45it. I'd like to know the ages and marital statuses of the writers in
- 51:52the Simpsons writers room at this time. I mean, I'm wondering if there
- 51:55were sort of like a lot of divorce youngsters or who were you know,
- 52:00middle aged and maybe feeling that seven year rich and you know, acting out
- 52:05there marital drum and bringing their marital dramas to work bad and the fantasies.
- 52:12But the thing is, it's like the last few times where they've split them
- 52:15up, you're almost on Homer side. It's like, I wouldn't actually do
- 52:19anything all that wrong. I mean there's one recently where Marge is like get
- 52:22out and I was like, I wouldn't do anything. Well, why are
- 52:24you kicking him out for so it's like they're breaking him up now to where
- 52:28home like it used to be a case of Homer does something ridiculous and Marge
- 52:31splits up with him, and but she takes him back because you know that's
- 52:35what she does. But now it's like Homer does something that's like kind of
- 52:37annoying, but it's Marge like, get out. It's like what and your
- 52:42your marriage is so thin now that you're throwing him out over that? Yeah,
- 52:45it was. It was the one where it was the one where they
- 52:46found the bra That's right, it's like, why are you throwing what the
- 52:51fuck? All of which feels kind of immature, Yeah, for one of
- 52:53a better term in terms of like, oh there's marital discord. The immediate
- 53:00sort of option is the nuclear option. Let's let's split them up. I
- 53:04say, I don't think our marriage can survive this. It's a little bit
- 53:07more worldly, mature, smart, emotional to admit that marriages go through problems
- 53:15and have these and have the couples work them out, you know. I
- 53:19mean I think they had that in earlier episodes where it's like, you know,
- 53:22sometimes your partner is going to disappoint you. Sometimes you're not going to
- 53:25be you know, in the honeymoon phase. Sometimes it's like, oh,
- 53:30I believe it's this person. I'm here too. Even among the happiest couples,
- 53:34I mean, you know they're gonna be times like sometimes they're a bit
- 53:37of a dog. I'm sure they lovely always thinks this on the regular.
- 53:42Nicola right now at that work like I'm running the state of this business,
- 53:46like I'm gonna manager of Victorian Tasmania. He's at home talking about the Simpsons
- 53:51in an hoodie lucky head. Next question here from Andrew Swan. What's your
- 54:00thoughts on having a cleaner. Do you like the idea of paying someone to
- 54:01clean up your mess or you like margin that you'd feel too shameful. I
- 54:07laughed at margin is, but I'm just like, more I think about it,
- 54:09I would actually clean the house a bit first, because I wouldn't want
- 54:12people to see my shame. The house is a mess. But sometimes I'm
- 54:15watching the kids and Nicola knocks off work and I'm like, I'm sorry,
- 54:17I haven't cleaned up yet. But my motto, I explained to it yesterday.
- 54:20I'm like, I could spend the day cleaning, but they just mess
- 54:22it up again straight away. So it's like it's easier to just let it
- 54:24get to the end of the day and clean it up at the end of
- 54:28the day and let them destroy it tomorrow, because it was driving me crazy.
- 54:31Every Tuesday's Daddy daycare day, and every Tuesday's like I clean up in
- 54:35the morning. Kids make a mess, I clean up the mess, they
- 54:37make another mess. Ip that mess is make the original mess again. It's
- 54:39like I was going insane cleaning up mess after mess after mess. I'd prefer
- 54:44to just like, just make a fucking mess and I would clean it once,
- 54:46because cleaning up all day drives you bananas. Correct correct now, Look,
- 54:53I'm lucky one that if I was to have a clean I don't think
- 54:57I've ever had a cleaner in Well, my Mary's coming over to the cleaning
- 55:00house, isn't she. You didn't ask you too to clean it, because
- 55:04she was like, this is deplorable, Like calm down, Margaret, Mary.
- 55:08But at the same time, yes, I'm flying out as we recall
- 55:13this, I'll be leaving on a jet plane with lovely Louise Man for California
- 55:17tonight. The fun Yeah, you please make sure you played that over your
- 55:21phone when you walk off, just so you really Louise. Kids coming on,
- 55:23just Louise. No, they're going to Europe with their dad. Oh
- 55:27that's right. Wow, it's like a honeymoon. It is indeed. Uh
- 55:32yeah, yes, we'll be walking through San Francisco Airport in slow motion with
- 55:37that on the speakers. But no, I mean I'll be probably be spending
- 55:42much of tonight just cleaning up the house. So when Mum comes over to
- 55:45feed Basie the cat, she'd be like, oh, guys, living like
- 55:47a human being. But I would be very much a cleaner before the cleaner
- 55:53comes. Camp Basic clings on to it that He's like, take me with
- 55:58you, Rachel McLean. If your significant other had amnesia and forgot who you
- 56:04were, what would you do or mention to make them remember? You?
- 56:09Play this like some of our songs. We have songs that we sing together.
- 56:14You know that we both enjoy it, Like one of our songs that
- 56:15we just both love ap Peel because of the nostalgia, like growing Up is
- 56:20Wanted that all we Backstreet Boys, it's like our like nineties song together,
- 56:24So we could play that, like playing I feel like playing songs that are
- 56:28like our songs would really have because music, and I feel is like the
- 56:30best memory jogger, don't you smells and music very much? So, Yeah,
- 56:35you're exactly right in that regard. I think another thing that I would
- 56:39do, because it tends to make low laugh, is put on some kind
- 56:44of put on, some kind of accent, put on because when if we're
- 56:47watching TV shows and there's yeah, particularly ninety fiance, there's a variety of
- 56:52accents, and I tend the goal was the German because it's gonna be German,
- 56:55right, It's always Germans. It's got to be German. And oh
- 57:00no, I think I fell a loue because I made her love to a
- 57:04good German accent, which is one of my fun don't thing I love to
- 57:07do when the fact that she was on the same wavelength or maybe just pitying
- 57:09me, Yeah, it was a connection. So I'd probably do that.
- 57:15Harrison McClure, if you were to try speed dating, what would be your
- 57:19opening line? Yeah, you're right, I probably wouldn't date me either,
- 57:23now I know what you're thinking. I'm only speedy in this part. Ryan
- 57:32King, if you could raise your memory of seeing a certain film so you
- 57:35can watch it for the first time again, what's a good question, What
- 57:37would it be? What would what would like to revisit for the first time
- 57:40about any prior knowledge? That's a good one. You can't choose one film
- 57:45if I it'd be great to not know anything about either and buy strikes Back.
- 57:50No, the Terminator, because yeah, if you don't know anything at
- 57:54all. I mean, they sort of signal that Arnold is the really bad
- 57:58guy, but you know, you're what I mean to think, well,
- 58:00is the terminat of the band one or is Carl raise the band one?
- 58:05They both look kind of sketchy, and then you know it's revealed, Oh
- 58:07my god, it's the Terminator and the terminate as a robot. What the
- 58:09fuck? So that's pretty good. Or Predator and not know anything about you
- 58:15know, it's like, oh wow, okay, you know Arnold and and
- 58:17his and his buddies on this rescue mission or whatever. Oh it's a nasty
- 58:22shit going on, but you know, that's life in the jungle for you.
- 58:24And then all of a sudden, wait a minute, there's a predator.
- 58:29What the hell? I love how to added that sent at the start
- 58:30of that film, just to remind you don't worry there will be a monster
- 58:34in this at some point, by the way, says fiction. But I
- 58:42mean if they didn't have that scene and he went to the movies to watch
- 58:44it, you would have gone the fuck you honestly would have thought if wanted
- 58:46the wrong movie? Right, Yeah, it's like, okay, so is
- 58:51there a predator in this movie? What's going on? The predator? Can
- 58:54you think of a twist that you would love to relive, like Empire strikes
- 58:59back twist? Can you think a twist that you would love to relive?
- 59:01Actually, I think it'd be good to sort of go into pulp fiction and
- 59:07really, oh, you've got the bit in the middle. I mean,
- 59:09can we can spoil pulp fiction? We mean, yeah, it's like,
- 59:14holy Shad Travolta doesn't make it the end, gets killed by Bruce Willis what's
- 59:17going on? Yeah? I thought he was the hero or not the hero,
- 59:21but I thought he was a central character. Now he's dead. Wait
- 59:22a minute, he's alive again? Have they told these stories out of order?
- 59:27Holy moly? What a genius? A good good question ranking. I
- 59:30really enjoyed that one. Okay, that was indeed a good one. This
- 59:35one was just actually just comments to ryans who Andrew JP says Batman returns.
