- 0:00Can you put an effect on that because I really cool I was gonna say she's giving herself
- 0:16a theme tune now.
- 0:17I mean, this podcast is slowly becoming the Mallory show.
- 0:22I am the face.
- 0:23I mean, we spend the first 40 minutes of every episode discussing Mallory's Marvel Madness
- 0:28and then we throw ourselves into the other 12 topics we selected for the episode in the
- 0:32next nine minutes.
- 0:34Well, you guys were as crazy as me and thought you should watch 130 things around the same
- 0:41time we all decided to do this.
- 0:42We could talk about you guys.
- 0:44True.
- 0:45Very true.
- 0:46I also just needed something to like, take the place of discussing my love life.
- 0:52That would never happen.
- 0:54It was that they should.
- 0:55I forgot that the whole purpose of the show.
- 0:57That was part of it.
- 1:00That was part of it.
- 1:01Originally, I hated that suggestion.
- 1:04And it's still an option, people.
- 1:06If you are interested in Mallory, she's not particularly worried about gender.
- 1:10I'm awesome.
- 1:11Peace.
- 1:12I'm still.
- 1:16You are a bastard.
- 1:17My thank you very much.
- 1:19Now.
- 1:20Okay.
- 1:21Where are you?
- 1:22In the madness.
- 1:24Last time we checked in.
- 1:25Yeah.
- 1:26Where are we in the madness?
- 1:28All right.
- 1:29Last week, I feel like I did real good when I told you guys how much I watched.
- 1:33Which means this week, you've watched two episodes.
- 1:35No, I've watched eight episodes of Iron Fist, which is number, Looch, what number is it?
- 1:4253.
- 1:4353.
- 1:44Thank you.
- 1:45Okay.
- 1:46I've not told you guys what I've thought about this.
- 1:49I haven't even texted you guys while I've been watching it.
- 1:52So based on how I felt about all the other Netflix shows, how do you guys think I'm dealing
- 1:59with Iron Fist?
- 2:03I mean, you said each one starts off super slow, which is accurate, having done recently
- 2:11the rewatch myself.
- 2:14But I think I'm going to come out of left field here.
- 2:18I'm thinking that you're enjoying Iron Fist.
- 2:22Based on that face, maybe not.
- 2:25Matt, would you like to give your theory?
- 2:27I think you're playing a blinder.
- 2:29I do think you're enjoying Iron Fist.
- 2:30I think we'll find out that you quite like Danny Rand.
- 2:33You like what he's about.
- 2:34You like the corporate world that he's exploring, and you like the sort of ancientness that's
- 2:38going on in the background.
- 2:41I hate how well you both know me.
- 2:46I'm really enjoying Iron Fist.
- 2:50From the get-go, I didn't feel that the beginning was slow.
- 2:54I didn't feel like I had to force myself to watch the first four episodes.
- 2:58I found myself wanting to keep watching, because I think it just started off so differently
- 3:04than the other three.
- 3:07I think that's interesting about that show, and it's something that I realized doing my
- 3:11rewatch was two things.
- 3:13One, as we've talked about before, everybody shat all over Iron Fist for several reasons,
- 3:21but I actually think, having rewatched it now the second time, that the first season
- 3:27of Iron Fist, it was actually the fifth Netflix show, Netflix season, because they had already
- 3:36gone through two seasons of Daredevil, one of Luke Cage, and one of Jessica Jones.
- 3:40This was the fifth Netflix season that they were making, leading up to The Defenders,
- 3:44which was the sixth season of that expanded arc, and I think they finally found their
- 3:50footing.
- 3:51I think they understood the character, actually, and I do think Finn Jones did a good job.
- 3:56Colleen Wing is awesome.
- 3:57Phenomenal.
- 3:58The actress who plays Colleen is great, and I think they do a good job of mixing that
- 4:04this kid, who's a billionaire, just comes back from this mystical land and is like,
- 4:13I'm just going to walk around barefoot, because that's what I did forever, and just be an
- 4:21amazing martial artist.
- 4:22Yeah, I don't know, like I said, I gave a lot of crap when it came out.
- 4:26I think everybody did.
- 4:27I definitely was not alone in that, but I think that Netflix was really finding their
- 4:32footing.
- 4:33They set them up very nicely for The Defenders season, which is the next one.
- 4:38Which makes perfect sense, because all of them, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Daredevil,
- 4:45have all been referenced so far in the first eight episodes, and The Punisher, they all
- 4:52have been referenced, and you can see how they are very much setting it up for The Defenders.
- 4:58I really enjoyed it.
- 4:59I enjoyed knowing nothing going into it.
- 5:02I didn't know who Iron Thrust was.
- 5:04I didn't know how he's going to play out with the hand.
- 5:06I knew absolutely nothing.
- 5:10That first scene where he just shows up barefoot, dingy looking at Rand, and you're trying to
- 5:18figure out what the show is about, and it's setting up the show, but you're still piecing
- 5:25everything together.
- 5:26I think it takes like 20 minutes for you to realize who he is and why he's there.
- 5:31I thought it was really good, and I know you guys said that he was kind of thrown into
- 5:37it and so the martial arts gets better during the season.
- 5:43I don't know if I've been seeing that.
- 5:45I think what I'm seeing, which I'm enjoying, is that his movements just look fluid.
- 5:52Everybody else looks like they're going at him.
- 5:55They're really trying.
- 5:56They're putting all their effort into it.
- 5:58He's just like almost like batting away flies.
- 6:01It's just fluid.
- 6:02It's calm.
- 6:03It's like when Matt's kids attack you, and they're just so tiny that you can kind of
- 6:10just push them away.
- 6:12That's the feeling I'm getting from him.
- 6:14Well, that's part of his training in that monastery.
- 6:19It's embracing his chi and being like that's the thing that he talks about throughout the
- 6:25show and especially even more so in the Defenders and in the season two of Iron Fist and spoiler
- 6:32alert also season two Blue Cage is all about balance, and it's about kind of like using
- 6:39your opponent's energy, kind of going with it, and kind of like going against them, but
- 6:45not expending any of yours when doing so.
- 6:49Their fighting style of like I think the closest is obviously Daredevil because they're both
- 6:54kind of martial artists, but you can see Daredevil is using his own strength to beat his enemies
- 7:04apart.
- 7:05Whereas Danny's just like you said, he's just smacking them around like and of course then
- 7:09sometimes he busts out the fist and really lights people up, but I don't know.
- 7:15It's fun.
- 7:16I feel like you'll see even better fighting from Danny in the Defenders if you haven't
- 7:25seen it.
- 7:26I don't think you've even watched that one, right?
- 7:27You haven't watched the Defenders.
- 7:28Yeah.
- 7:29Yeah.
- 7:30I think it's coming up.
- 7:31Yeah.
- 7:32So I think it's the next of the next.
- 7:33It's next of that.
- 7:34Yeah.
- 7:35Yeah.
- 7:36But the seeing Danny and Daredevil fight together, in my opinion, is one of the like there's
- 7:45this, Max, you notice the I'm talking about in the office building.
- 7:51That's one of the funnest fight scenes I think I've ever seen was just those two guys just
- 7:54like playing off the board.
- 7:57It was what we always wanted from it.
- 7:59We never wanted a Leap Cage season two or even an Iron Fist season two.
- 8:02I think we wanted Heroes for Hire.
- 8:05Yeah.
- 8:06Heroes for Hire.
- 8:07Yeah.
- 8:08Which is one Night of the Dragon.
- 8:09One Night of the Dragon even.
- 8:10Yeah.
- 8:11And the Heroes for Hire was the Danny Rand, Leap Cage, just chilling, running a PI protection
- 8:19racket out of a random barbershop and just enjoying themselves and just going out there
- 8:24and having fun and being cool kids.
- 8:27And that was what we'd hoped we would get to.
- 8:30Defenders is great.
- 8:31All that bigger stuff.
- 8:32But I mean, if you'd give me a season of that instead of season two of Leap Cage and or
- 8:36Iron Fist, I'd be happy.
- 8:38I agree with you.
- 8:39As much as I enjoy season two of Leap Cage, I agree.
- 8:41I would have preferred to have seen a Heroes for Hire season instead because their relationship
- 8:48is also hilarious.
- 8:49I have a question for you guys.
- 8:52I have not finished the season yet.
- 8:55Right now they've captured Madame Gao in China.
- 8:59So I'm pretty far, I think I'm eight episodes in.
- 9:04Everyone's been kicked out of Rand.
- 9:07We find out that Jessica Jones has been Joy Meacham's PI, not by name.
- 9:15So obviously the big bad in the season is The Hand.
- 9:19We were introduced to The Hand in Daredevil season two.
- 9:24And Claire has now met Danny Rand.
- 9:28It's so obvious and bring them all together, but she keeps mentioning how her friend has
- 9:34come up against The Hand.
- 9:37Naturally, if I'm going to go fight this person or this entity that I never have and somebody
- 9:42else has already fought them, wouldn't you just be like, hey, did your friend want to
- 9:46come to China with us?
- 9:48And it's never brought up.
- 9:49And obviously we know logically it's because they didn't have the budget for it or that
- 9:55wasn't part of their contracts.
- 9:57But why keep bringing it up?
- 9:59I have a really easy answer for that, but I want to let Max see if we have the same
- 10:03answer.
- 10:04I mean, my answer for it is they needed to give Iron Fist his own ground to stand on.
- 10:12And that sort of comes later.
- 10:17Without spoilers, there's more to come.
- 10:20I agree, but I would take it a step further.
- 10:23And that's part of Danny Rand's arrogance.
- 10:28Danny Rand is the immortal Iron Fist.
- 10:31He is the enemy of The Hand.
- 10:33He is the person that destroys The Hand, and he wants to do that himself.
- 10:37I think because that's what he trained for.
- 10:39That's when he defeated Shao Lao.
- 10:42That's his thing.
- 10:44So I think part of that, maybe I'm foreshadowing a little bit, but part of that is his own
- 10:50arrogance as Danny Rand slash Iron Fist.
- 10:54That's my thoughts on it.
- 10:55I mean, that's why he, him and Leakage works so well together because they're the
- 11:03polar opposites.
- 11:04They're the yin and the yang.
- 11:07The whole scenario is they bring the best out of each other and they work well together
- 11:10because of that.
- 11:13An unlikely team, that makes so much sense.
- 11:15Yeah.
- 11:16And it's the rich white man and the kid from Harlem.
- 11:21It's those sorts of things.
- 11:24One who's impenetrable and one who has probably the power to penetrate him in a non-sexual
- 11:30way.
- 11:31It's a whole different show.
- 11:33We just went from fanfiction territory again, you know?
- 11:38Well, I mean, that's probably where we're getting most of our likes from, so there's
- 11:41nothing wrong with that.
- 11:42What I think is interesting is the potential for connections between Shang-Chi and Iron
- 11:49Fist.
- 11:50You know, between Shao Lao and, what was it, Kun-Lan.
- 11:55Yeah, Kun-Lan.
- 11:56I feel like they're very similar to the point where at one point I thought it was the same
- 12:02place when I saw Shang-Chi.
- 12:04And then when I did my rewatch of that, I was like, oh no, it's not.
- 12:08They are two distinct, different, mystical places.
- 12:12There's the moment where Shang-Chi's mom fights his dad and she sort of uses Chi power at
- 12:19that point.
- 12:20Yeah, that's right.
- 12:21The whole thing is, is she from Iron Fist's village?
- 12:25Is she from Kun-Lan?
- 12:26Yeah.
- 12:27So it becomes this whole thing.
- 12:29But it'll be interesting to see if we ever get that crossover.
- 12:33Even if it's a five-minute fight scene and then they end up being friends.
- 12:36Like, I think that would be cool to see.
- 12:39Do you guys, I mean, I'm sure you guys know, and don't tell me because I'll find out, but
- 12:43do we find out how Madame Gao knows what Kun-Lan looks like?
- 12:48I'm not going to tell you.
- 12:51You told me yes or no!
- 12:55Yes or no.
- 12:56Okay, now I'm going to go back to talking about Claire.
- 13:01Okay.
- 13:02I mean, I'll always talk about Rosario Dawson, I've got no problem with that whatsoever.
- 13:06I flew to-
- 13:07No, no, he lost to Ahsoka, so yeah.
- 13:09I was flying to London and back on Friday and my companion for that was Ahsoka because
- 13:15I'd still not watched Ahsoka.
- 13:18I'm now half-
- 13:19Really?
- 13:20Oh, okay.
- 13:21They're a travel-numbing season two, I think.
- 13:23Yep.
- 13:24So, I thought I'd actually catch up with that and see where we're at.
- 13:28And then immediately remembered why I didn't watch it because I watched the first five
- 13:30minutes and I was like, oh no, I never finished Rebels, I need to go watch Rebels again.
- 13:36I'd immediately jumped in, I was like, oh no, I never finished Rebels.
- 13:41But yes, Rosario Dawson, let's go.
- 13:44Okay, so I don't know how much we talked about it when we talked about Luke Cage, but her
- 13:50and Luke Cage's relationship, and I love it.
- 13:53I love them together.
- 13:54I like them better than her and Matt Murdock, but what I caught, and I'm assuming other
- 14:00people caught it, but I think it's just easier for me because I'm watching everything kind
- 14:03of back to back, is when she's going after some of the bad, one of the bad guys who's
- 14:08trying to steal, or one of the guys from the hand is trying to take the heroin maker at
- 14:16the hospital.
- 14:18And she sees the guy backing up and she's running towards him and she goes, sweet Christmas.
- 14:23And I'm like, oh, Luke Cage, little cuties.
- 14:27They're the moments though, I mean, as comic book fans, we've become cynical about the
- 14:33movies and about the TV shows.
- 14:36But those are the moments where you go, oh, that's awesome.
- 14:40Yeah, it gives you the warm and fuzzies.
- 14:43You forget those moments.
- 14:44And I mean, I can think back to the first time that happened for me and Leech was sitting
- 14:48next to me in the cinema and it was Hawkeye appearing in Thor.
- 14:54And it was that moment where you see the arrow, you see the hand come into screen and it goes
- 14:58to grab a gun and then it changes to the boat.
- 15:00And I was like, no, I mean, at this point, we're talking about where there wasn't this
- 15:05intense pressure to find out all of the secrets, you know, there wasn't the Andrew Garfield,
- 15:10Tobey Maguire.
- 15:11We'd seen them on set there in Atlanta that, you know, there wasn't all of that stuff happening.
- 15:16So it was amazing to see.
- 15:19And just to know that that's the direction we're going in.
- 15:20And that's one of those moments, I think those are the coolest moments in the whole show
- 15:24when they have those little nods, little thing, you think, it's cool, it's cool.
- 15:30I suppose you have to have enough lore to get away with it.
- 15:35Yeah.
- 15:36And I think Marvel might have enough lore.
- 15:39Maybe.
- 15:40Maybe.
- 15:41The other thing I thought that was a little silly, now I don't know if you guys are going
- 15:50to disagree, it is, okay, so Danny Rand, but I would also see how they set it up for it.
- 15:56And so Danny Rand, as the Iron Fist has given up all possessions, things that, you know,
- 16:04these attachments, relationships, he says he's celibate.
- 16:09And like, not even 24 hours later, he's in bed with Colleen.
- 16:13And like, they do set it up that like, obviously, he's not, because he didn't defeat the hand,
- 16:19because he decided to save Sabina instead, like it, obviously, they are, they were showing
- 16:24that like, he's obviously not keeping with, I guess, all the teachings.
- 16:29But I thought it was a real quick turnaround.
- 16:32I mean, Colleen wins.
- 16:39Speaking of British actors, Finn Jones.
- 16:45And I'm pretty sure, isn't she, isn't Colleen also British?
- 16:49Is she?
- 16:51I think she is either British or like, Australian.
- 16:57Because I was looking it up last night, whether or not Finn Jones is straight.
- 17:03Because, well, because he plays Loras Tyrell in Game of Thrones.
- 17:06I know, he's down to the flowers.
- 17:08Yeah, I know.
- 17:09She's Japanese American.
- 17:10Okay.
- 17:14But whatever.
- 17:15And the internet wouldn't tell me if he was gay or straight.
- 17:18Finn Jones.
- 17:19Or both.
- 17:20He could be bi.
- 17:20Finn, we want to know.
- 17:22First of all, we respect and love Iron Fist.
- 17:25We'd love to see you come back in AMCU.
- 17:26Secondly, Mallory would like to know, are you straight or gay?
- 17:31I'm sure this is a play by her.
- 17:33She's moved on from Matt Smith.
- 17:35So it's, do you want to understand in the spotlight?
- 17:39We remember she only does this for British celebrities.
- 17:41So it's really all about.
- 17:45It's not true.
- 17:46I've said multiple times, like he was my soulmate and he's from Staten Island.
- 17:50So, which is as far from.
- 17:52Uh, you can't get much.
- 17:54And yeah, it's an island.
- 17:57It's a small island inhabited by weirdos, but they didn't
- 18:04like invade the whole world.
- 18:06So they don't even like when you come to their islands, they
- 18:10church so much to get you there.
- 18:12Yeah, that's true.
- 18:13That's true.
- 18:14So now not because I wasn't, he's a little cutie, but I was just curious.
- 18:19And I get, he's an actor.
- 18:20He's allowed to act both ways, but I'm just curious.
- 18:26But also when you Google it, according to Google AI, he's married to the
- 18:30actor that plays Colleen Wang, which isn't true.
- 18:34Is it Wang or wing?
- 18:36Wing wing wing.
- 18:38So according to Google AI, he's married to Colleen Wang.
- 18:41I mean, just Google AI says lots of things that aren't necessarily true.
- 18:45I know.
- 18:46And then I went down a rabbit hole about that.
- 18:48So I was just curious.
- 18:49I just want to know the people, the people that want to know, I used to work with a
- 18:54colleague and she used to say that during the, um, the rugby world cup and the
- 18:57football world cup, she would sit there, uh, next to her husband and comment.
- 19:01And then she'd sit and she'd be Googling all the wags, the wives and
- 19:04girlfriends of all the players like that.
- 19:07Come to work with the African.
- 19:08She'd be like, so Jordan Henderson, have you seen his wife?
- 19:14What about a performance last night?
- 19:15I don't know.
- 19:16But, uh, his wife does not like this person's wife.
- 19:19I get it.
- 19:22Understandable.
- 19:24Okay.
- 19:25So it was only the episodes this week of, um, you come into that point in the season
- 19:33where everything starts to peak and then they give you the false ending and then
- 19:37we go for the second indent.
- 19:39Right.
- 19:39Yeah.
- 19:40So, um, Henry, is that daddy meet Jim?
- 19:46That's been a long time.
- 19:47No, but, um, so he's not dead again.
- 19:53Uh, the meetings and Danny are out of, uh, the board.
- 20:00They're off the board.
- 20:01Um, also, uh, because I, again, I went on the little Google, um, spiral
- 20:07yesterday, the actor that plays Ward meet Jim, you know, that's
- 20:11Kaylee Coco's baby daddy.
- 20:14Oh, is it, is it really?
- 20:16Yeah, because, because he's also, uh, Faramir in Lord of the Rings.
- 20:22No, that's Harold.
- 20:24Yeah.
- 20:25Oh yeah.
- 20:25Harold.
- 20:26Me too.
- 20:26That's what I'm saying.
- 20:26Ward.
- 20:27Me.
- 20:27Jump.
- 20:27Oh, Ward.
- 20:30Okay.
- 20:32Okay.
- 20:33Yeah.
- 20:34Cause that'd be weird.
- 20:35That'd be weird.
- 20:38Um, what else has been going on?
- 20:42I don't know.
- 20:42I thought I was, they kept Madame Gao in the shadows for a while, but
- 20:46I was like, that's Madame Gao.
- 20:49Like not surprised.
- 20:50Um, I was almost expecting to have Electra be one of the fighters
- 20:57that Danny fought during the tournament.
- 21:00Yeah.
- 21:01Um, a reasonable expectation.
- 21:04Yeah.
- 21:04Cause of how Daredevil season two ended.
- 21:06Yeah.
- 21:07A reasonable expectation.
- 21:09There's this whole thing where it's the prophecy of the hand and, you
- 21:13know, Danny runs to defeat the hand.
- 21:15But if you read enough and watch enough Daredevil, we also get
- 21:18back from Daredevil an awful lot.
- 21:21So it is, you know, we, Daredevils, the prophecy, he's the one to bring
- 21:26the hand down or Daredevils to lead the hat, lead the hand or Electra's
- 21:29leading the hand or, you know, the hands fighting the fist and the fist.
- 21:33And you get all of those sorts of crossovers and
- 21:36you have the hand, the fist, the chase.
- 21:38You know, all, all of those.
- 21:40Yeah.
- 21:41I didn't even like put two and two together about the hands and the fist
- 21:44until they said, and I was like, Mal, you're stupid.
- 21:49Mean.
- 21:53For me, I think also when I'm watching things for the first time, I try to be
- 21:56in it and not overthinking it.
- 21:59Um, which is why, like when people like spoil the ending, when they're like,
- 22:03Oh, this is what's going to happen.
- 22:04I hate it.
- 22:05Cause like, I'm just trying to be in the moment.
- 22:07I hate it just because those people's are dicks.
- 22:10Yeah.
- 22:10Well, even if they don't know, there's like, Oh, this is what
- 22:12we know is going to happen.
- 22:14But I mean, I'm even coaching Jack and Molly into that, where I'm like, no
- 22:17spoilers, no spoilers, no spoilers.
- 22:20Don't spoil it.
- 22:21Like, and they will say no spoilers.
- 22:24No spoilers.
- 22:26Can't have spoilers.
- 22:28All right.
- 22:29So I'm going to be done with this by this weekend, most likely.
- 22:33And then Captain America support the good stuff.
- 22:39That's the good.
- 22:39Yeah.
- 22:40The good stuff.
- 22:41So, so what are you giving iron fist so far?
- 22:44Do you want to wait to, um,
- 22:49no, cause I didn't finish shield yet.
- 22:51Oh, see, I still have more to watch.
- 22:54I, uh, so much Captain America, civil war, then black widow,
- 22:59other than the end credit scene.
- 23:00And then I finished it.
- 23:01It needs a shield.
- 23:03Right.
- 23:03Okay.
- 23:04Yeah.
- 23:04Sorry.
- 23:05Right.
- 23:05Sorry.
- 23:06Sorry.
- 23:06So we'll, we'll hold off on the rankings until next.
- 23:11Yeah.
- 23:11Yeah.
- 23:12Oh, that's a good one.
- 23:13Civil war is a good film.
- 23:15That's not why though.
- 23:15It's like a vengeance 2.5.
- 23:19Yeah.
- 23:19That's why I love it.
- 23:21I think we're all kind of realizing we want more team ups.
- 23:23We love the team up.
- 23:24Oh yeah, absolutely.
- 23:26I think it depends upon the team though, but yes, I, I agree.
- 23:29I do think the team is aware.
- 23:32I mean, I want to see more, um, Ms.
- 23:35Marvel interaction with the rest of the MCU.
- 23:40Yeah.
- 23:40You know, like I thought it was so good and everything about it meant I shouldn't
- 23:48like it as a middle-aged man with a beard, like she was introduced as one
- 23:52of those characters that was diverse and different and new and for young people.
- 23:57And I love it.
- 23:57I think she's brilliant.
- 23:58A lot of break.
- 24:00She's purer and she's happy.
- 24:02And she's like, she's just pure of heart.
- 24:05And I love that about her.
- 24:06And I want to see more of the interactions with her.
- 24:09Mallory.
- 24:09Have you seen day devil?
- 24:11You haven't seen born again.
- 24:14The one episode, it's not her, but there's an episode that makes reference to her.
- 24:19And I think it might be my favorite episode, but it's also just
- 24:23wins down the best episode of that season.
- 24:25Hands down.
- 24:27But what I also want is I want her parents to move into like the
- 24:32Avengers facility and just reprimand everybody.
- 24:38Just be there.
- 24:39Which avengers facility, though?
- 24:40Cause you know, we do have the new avengers facility.
- 24:43I don't know.
- 24:43State of New York.
- 24:44All right.
- 24:44Well, it has to be the new one.
- 24:45Cause they'll blame was destroyed.
- 24:47No, but I mean, we've got the Thunderbolt style one and then we've
- 24:49got Captain America styles.
- 24:52Remember we've got two avengers teams out there right now.
- 24:54Right, right, right.
- 24:55I did watch the Thunderbolts twice, but one of them has a Z at the end.
- 25:00Yeah.
- 25:04Brandon.
- 25:05It's all about the brand new blockbusters.
- 25:11David Harbour is so good in that role.
- 25:13He's so good.
- 25:13Now, did you see him show up to the premier driving the limo?
- 25:18Yeah, he was driving the limo in character.
- 25:19He was driving that crap.
- 25:23Just, he's great.
- 25:24He's so good at everything.
- 25:26Yes.
- 25:27And, and are we finished with Marvel madness there?
- 25:30Yeah.
- 25:42On Mallory's Marvel madness.
- 25:45Okay.
- 25:46So last time we chatted, I was in the middle of number 53, which is season one
- 25:52of iron fest.
- 25:53That's correct.
- 25:54I finished that.
- 25:57I've watched Captain America civil war, black widow, not the end credit scene.
- 26:03Uh, I finished agents of shields finally.
- 26:05And I watched all of the defenders.
- 26:07So I'm through 57.
- 26:10Yes.
- 26:12That was some quality.
- 26:14That was some quality TV right there.
- 26:16And that was a lot.
- 26:20So good though.
- 26:21Okay.
- 26:22Okay.
- 26:23I, I need, I need to know.
- 26:26I think we've talked about Captain America civil war as being probably top three,
- 26:34definitely top five Marvel product.
- 26:39Yep.
- 26:40I want to hear your thoughts on the defenders.
- 26:42Cause it was the first time you see it is now everybody together.
- 26:45And I think that is the most important one that you watched.
- 26:48Yeah.
- 26:49So I loved the defenders.
- 26:52I just need to calm down.
- 26:54That's the problem, man.
- 26:58I'm all out of calm.
- 27:04That was very mistaken, but, and I don't know why it was in my head, but I
- 27:08thought that the defenders were Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, daredevil,
- 27:13iron fist and the punisher.
- 27:17Okay.
- 27:18And the punisher was not there.
- 27:20The punisher was not there.
- 27:21We had this conversation.
- 27:23Yeah.
- 27:24The punisher is he's a, he occasionally has teamed up with people and groups.
- 27:31Like those are sorry.
- 27:34Um, you joined on a show.
- 27:35Wasn't there.
- 27:36Those are, well, those are, I mean, John Berthold is her favorite actor.
- 27:38So it does totally make sense.
- 27:41Um, but.
- 27:42He does, you know, Max talked about it in the, in the, in the
- 27:47in civil war, the comic book.
- 27:50Correct me if I'm wrong, Max civil war does join team cap briefly for like a
- 27:56hot, like a hot second, kill somebody.
- 27:59And then he gets kicked out of the team and refuses to fight
- 28:01camp because he's like, right.
- 28:04Yeah, exactly.
- 28:05Um, but how, how did you feel about, oh, how did you feel about the initial.
- 28:15Like the meeting of all four of them in the, uh, in Midland circle.
- 28:20It made perfect sense.
- 28:22And there was so many similarities, I think, with the avengers meet up also.
- 28:26Um, like kind of like, I mean, really just like when they all meet
- 28:29Thor for the first time and they're all like, here are you.
- 28:33Um, and I felt like it had very similar vibes, but I mean, obviously.
- 28:38Jessica Jones knew the cage.
- 28:40Jessica Jones had met Matt Murdoch.
- 28:44Um, Newton was going on with Matt Murdoch, Luke Cage and iron fist
- 28:48started off on the wrong foot, but their girlfriends are buddies.
- 28:53Um, and they all knew Claire, which by the way, that's what I wanted.
- 28:57I want them all to be like, how do you know Claire?
- 28:59Why do you know Claire?
- 29:00How do you know her?
- 29:01Um, and I'm going to be fair.
- 29:08Jessica Jones also had sex with Luke Cage, which they do joke about a lot.
- 29:12Yeah.
- 29:12Um, and I think the other thing that I thought was interesting was in iron
- 29:18fist, you, you know, that Danny Rand is young sold just because he
- 29:25never really had to grow up.
- 29:29Um, like he was a child.
- 29:30He never had to be an adult.
- 29:32Uh, yes, he was the iron fist, but like, it's different than like, you
- 29:35know, having a job and having to pay rent and all of that.
- 29:39Um, and you see just how young Danny Rand really is when he's
- 29:46with the, uh, other defenders.
- 29:48Um, cause he's just, he's just like a strong headed child.
- 29:53He doesn't have the life experience that the rest have.
- 29:55I'm just watching iron fist.
- 29:57We talked about this over the weekend.
- 29:58I I'm just watching iron fist and I think I'm up to episode six or seven of it now.
- 30:03Um, but that's really evident in it is that Danny Rand is a teenager in iron
- 30:10fist's body doesn't have that maturity.
- 30:12And it comes from his lack of interaction with the world and they
- 30:16sort of show it repeatedly through it.
- 30:18But you know, he walks into the boardroom and he's like, I'm going
- 30:21to give away the drugs for cost.
- 30:23Uh, and then he walks downstairs and says to the woman, I'm so sorry.
- 30:26Let me fix it.
- 30:27And there's those sorts of naivety.
- 30:28And the innocence, there's an innocence about
- 30:31it's all like quality.
- 30:33Yeah.
- 30:34No, it's does so well.
- 30:38He's endearing as the character.
- 30:39I mean, when you have, when you, when you see those moments of like, that's
- 30:44how, like you look at Danny Rand when it touches me talking about like giving
- 30:48the way that that drug that can cure this disease for free and you know, that's
- 30:53what you want from one of these Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk, you know, those type
- 30:59of, it's what you'd love to be able to see.
- 31:01It's also a very Iron Man-esque.
- 31:04Tony Sark, you know, after his, his accident, his, uh, kidnapping
- 31:09becomes that, that's who he becomes.
- 31:12Who becomes more of the philanthropist and more of the, you know, more of
- 31:15the, I'm going to do good in the world.
- 31:17You know, first he's going to do the arc reactor for Stark Tower.
- 31:20And then, you know, what's the language, what does he say to Captain America?
- 31:23Uh, billionaire playboy, uh, genius philanthropist, my bad.
- 31:29Yeah.
- 31:30It's that gray lane.
- 31:31It's that gray lane.
- 31:32He's like, who are you?
- 31:34Yeah.
- 31:34Yeah.
- 31:35Take the suit off.
- 31:35Who are you?
- 31:36A genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.
- 31:39Yeah, no, I get that.
- 31:41And I'm actually, so this is the question I was going to raise.
- 31:44Sorry.
- 31:45We're jumping ahead.
- 31:46Civil war.
- 31:47There's let's do civil war first.
- 31:48Right.
- 31:48That comes before Iron Fist.
- 31:50Oh, Iron Fist first.
- 31:51Okay, cool.
- 31:51So this is Lucha's fault.
- 31:52He wanted to jump ahead right to the defenders.
- 31:54And I wanted to jump into the defenders because I think we've
- 31:56talked about civil war a lot, but I just, because I wanted to get
- 31:59the, uh, Mal's thoughts on defenders.
- 32:02We both hinted at this and Mallory definitely says in the previous, in
- 32:06the previous podcast that she's been enjoying Iron Fist, but did Iron Fist
- 32:12get a raw deal when it originally came out?
- 32:14Cause I'm watching it back and I think Iron Fist as Mallory's, uh,
- 32:18I'm watching it back and I think Iron Fist as Mallory's alluded to as well
- 32:22is probably the best pace of the first round, right?
- 32:28The introduction shows it's the best paced one.
- 32:30Cause it just gets going and it's quick.
- 32:34It's good.
- 32:35It's not as heavy, maybe as some of the others.
- 32:38And we said that might, might help a little bit, but certainly
- 32:41I also thought every episode was well done.
- 32:44Like I feel like, and I think the other episodes, the other shows
- 32:48were slow starts, they were filler episodes.
- 32:51And like you talked about it as the problem with this necessity of 13 episodes.
- 32:57Um, and I felt like Iron Fist didn't have that Iron Fist just, it got going.
- 33:02And I think every episode built the story of the entire
- 33:06episode, but it was building.
- 33:08It moves things along.
- 33:09I think I said it too, that like it was their fifth, it was their fifth, it
- 33:14was their fifth season at that point of the Netflix, and I think they
- 33:17finally found their rhythm and then they kind of finale it with this eight
- 33:21episode, intense defenders arc, um, which was just great.
- 33:26Now I wanted to ask about, cause this is something that I noticed, how
- 33:31similar the fighting styles are between members of the defenders.
- 33:35Did you catch that?
- 33:36I think, I think that's down to the crew.
- 33:38I think that's down to the cinematographers and the stunt
- 33:42teams, cause they were the same thing, but they, they all have the hallway
- 33:45fights, the close quarters fights, the lifts, the containers, the bar room.
- 33:51It's all the same sort of fighting.
- 33:54Yeah.
- 33:54You're right.
- 33:56I have a question for you guys.
- 33:57All right.
- 33:58Jessica Jones is strong.
- 34:01Luke Cage is impenetrable, but he's also strong or is he strong
- 34:07just because nothing hurts him?
- 34:10Like, no, he has a few, I could rip off my own ear, but it's
- 34:13going to hurt me, so I won't do it.
- 34:16I mean, I think that, um, Max, you probably know better from the comics
- 34:20than I do, cause I didn't read a lot of Luke Cage, but I put his strength
- 34:25probably at like the, uh, not Captain America level or Bucky Barnes level.
- 34:35But just below that, probably where, um, what's his face is.
- 34:40Um, I mean the fake Captain America from, you know,
- 34:46Oh, um, Wyatt Russell.
- 34:48Wyatt Russell.
- 34:48I put him probably around that, maybe a little bit less than that level.
- 34:51Like, you know, he's, he doesn't have a super soldier serum, but he has that.
- 34:57He does have a higher strength than your average large man.
- 35:02So regenerative healing factor, superhuman strength, stamina, and
- 35:08durability, naïve invulnerabilities and skilled hand-to-hand combatant
- 35:13is, is how he is described.
- 35:15Um, yeah, he's, he's overly
- 35:18Then Jessica Jones got the winds of the deal cause she's penetrable.
- 35:22Don't make the joke, but, um, but she just, she's strong,
- 35:27but she could still get injured.
- 35:28But she, I mean, you see a little bit of sort of fly though.
- 35:32Well, she can jump really high.
- 35:34She can fly, actually.
- 35:36Yeah.
- 35:36Remember she jumps up in the balconies and stuff.
- 35:39Yeah.
- 35:40She can probably jump about three or four stories and grab onto a, you know,
- 35:44a man's balcony.
- 35:47Yeah, she does.
- 35:49But you, but in regards to Luke's Luke Cage's strength, you'll see that in either
- 35:55the first or second episode of Luke Cage season two, where not, this doesn't really
- 36:01give much away about the story about that season, but there's a series where he goes
- 36:07and does like a training day with the Harlem Jets, which is like a fake football
- 36:11team based in Harlem.
- 36:13And you see him like running the, running the 40 yard dash and lifting up giant
- 36:18tires and throwing it, you know, like you see a little bit of like, yeah, he's
- 36:21definitely, there's no man on earth who could in real life who could do what he
- 36:27does.
- 36:28As we said, they allude to it at some points with the colors and the things that
- 36:32he wears, but he was power, man.
- 36:34Yeah.
- 36:34It's just like official title was power, man.
- 36:38So.
- 36:38I was just curious, but I enjoyed, enjoyed the end of Iron Fist, enjoyed all of the
- 36:42defenders.
- 36:44Um, I was very sad when I went back through my list cause I was like, Oh, when do I
- 36:48get defender season two?
- 36:50And there is none.
- 36:54Yeah.
- 36:54And yet, um, this is my official call for defender season two, pretty, pretty
- 37:00please.
- 37:01You've been calling for it since 2017.
- 37:04Yeah, but I like the Iron Fist.
- 37:05I mean, Iron Fist season two for me, it was, um, uh, uh, even I enjoyed even more
- 37:10than Iron Fist season one.
- 37:12Um, and so I'll be excited to watch that again and think, and that was less episodes.
- 37:17Yes.
- 37:18Yeah.
- 37:19Cause by that point, I think I was only an episodes or eight on their way out of
- 37:23that point.
- 37:23Wasn't it?
- 37:25It was the last thing I think that aired other than maybe Jessica Jones season
- 37:28three, that may have come after that.
- 37:30Yeah.
- 37:30I think it was the last thing I think that aired other than maybe Jessica Jones
- 37:34come after that, that, uh, it did.
- 37:37It did.
- 37:38Yeah.
- 37:38And Daredevil season three.
- 37:41Those both aired after Iron Fist two.
- 37:43Okay.
- 37:43I didn't realize that.
- 37:45Yeah.
- 37:45So this is problem.
- 37:47I think, and I haven't had this problem before, but I'm sure when you guys watch
- 37:51the defenders live, um, and the building comes down and Matt Murdock Daredevil is
- 38:00dead.
- 38:01Everyone's crying.
- 38:02Karen and foggy are in the church and we're all sad.
- 38:07Um, I'm sure there was like a moment for you guys.
- 38:10Maybe I'm wrong of, is that the end?
- 38:13Do we get another season of Daredevil?
- 38:15Um, but because I know that there's so much more Daredevil, I didn't have that
- 38:20like concern.
- 38:22I already announced Daredevil season three.
- 38:25They had, I mean, they, they, they had, they had earlier.
- 38:28You know, now I, now I, like you were coming from, from the same point of view
- 38:35where Daredevil season three was already announced.
- 38:37So you're like, okay, I know he's not dead, but my question was how the hell did
- 38:40he survive?
- 38:41Because now you could see it with Luke cage.
- 38:45I could see him surviving that he survives getting blown up at Genghis Connie's.
- 38:50Um, but Daredevil he's, you know, yeah, he's special, but he's still a man just
- 38:57flesh and blood, just a little bit better.
- 39:00Did electric give him the substance?
- 39:04Don't tell me I'll find out.
- 39:05We'll have to find out.
- 39:06I mean, what happens with regard to, so Luke Cage and I in first season two take
- 39:14place and they don't know that Daredevil is still alive, right?
- 39:19Just sort of, so it explains why he isn't present.
- 39:22You know, it goes through that thing where they're like, oh, we don't have to
- 39:25call him up because he's dead.
- 39:27And they, and they, and they talk about him as like, what would you almost like,
- 39:31almost like what would Jesus do?
- 39:32It was like, what would Matt Murdoch do?
- 39:34You know, we need to work together to defend the city and that kind of thing.
- 39:37You know, in fact, probably pushes them together.
- 39:41It does.
- 39:42Are they in each other's seasons?
- 39:44Fills the void.
- 39:45I don't think there's crossover.
- 39:48If there's some crossover, there's some
- 39:51wanted for iron fest.
- 39:52I said that to you guys.
- 39:53Like I wanted when Danny was going to fight the hand the first time and
- 39:56Klai were going, oh my friend, I wanted her to bring in Matt Murdoch.
- 40:02I'm not fussed for another Defenders season.
- 40:06If they give us heroes for hire.
- 40:08So if they give us a season of Luke Cage and Danny Rand, 10 years down the
- 40:13line running heroes for hire, the PI investigation thing and fighting bad
- 40:18guys on the street, and we drop Matt Murdoch into it, or we drop Jessica Jones
- 40:22into it, I'm good.
- 40:24No, I would take that too.
- 40:26Yeah.
- 40:26I would take that too, because their rapport, their relationship is brilliant.
- 40:30I mean, yeah.
- 40:30And you, you, you definitely get a crossover in Luke Cage season
- 40:33two with both of them.
- 40:36Um, and, and, and we've got, you know, we were chatting about it the other night.
- 40:40Misty, the evolution of
- 40:44she lost her arm.
- 40:48Stop that.
- 40:48What do you think is going to happen next?
- 40:51Well, okay.
- 40:51Does she get a bucky arm?
- 40:56And then maybe, and then her and Colleen become good friends.
- 41:01And then they start a PI protection agency as well.
- 41:06Isn't it nights of the dragon that they start?
- 41:08Yeah.
- 41:08Yeah.
- 41:09So, so they had, sorry.
- 41:12Yeah.
- 41:12They had their own wall comics.
- 41:13Yeah.
- 41:14Oh, we don't see that in the show, but, but I mean, if you were to do heroes
- 41:18for hire, you bring them in to the drag.
- 41:21Yeah.
- 41:21Yeah.
- 41:22Um, so there's loads, there's loads of fun to be had in that small sandbox that
- 41:28doesn't impact the wider Marvel universe.
- 41:32Yeah.
- 41:32The question is of course, doomsday, how does doomsday reset everything?
- 41:38I mean, yeah.
- 41:38Doomsday is the reason, isn't it?
- 41:39You know, that's what the rumor is, you know, doomsday is the reset
- 41:42or is this secret wars?
- 41:44That's the reset.
- 41:45The two of them over the arc of the two of them.
- 41:48There's a hard reset coming, isn't it?
- 41:50Um, so, um, and cause they film it back to back, like at the same time, you don't
- 41:57know what's happening with, um, okay.
- 42:02Defenders.
- 42:03So swing back civil war.
- 42:05That's the piece.
- 42:07Brilliant.
- 42:07So good.
- 42:08So good.
- 42:08So good.
- 42:09Um,
- 42:13uh, okay.
- 42:14So I have no recollection of watching Ant-Man before I, before civil war.
- 42:29But the first time I watched them both, did Ant-Man come up before civil war?
- 42:33Yeah.
- 42:34Um, well in the timeline, you know, I know in the timeline, but in like
- 42:39actuality, were they released?
- 42:41I believe Ant-Man did come.
- 42:44Ant-Man's post-credit scene was that scene and you knew he was going to appear.
- 42:48Well, true, true, true, true, true.
- 42:49Okay.
- 42:50Yeah.
- 42:50We made did come up before civil war.
- 42:52Yeah.
- 42:52Right.
- 42:52Well, so it's just so good.
- 42:54I mean, it's nothing to really even talk about it.
- 42:56It's just so good.
- 42:57I mean, I think it has like one of my favorite lines when Spider-Man, uh, meets
- 43:03Captain America for the first time.
- 43:06And, and, uh, Cap is impressed with him, asks him where he's from and he says
- 43:12Queens and he goes, ah, Brooklyn.
- 43:14And then later when Aunt May is helping him with his black guy, he goes, oh,
- 43:17a guy from Brooklyn beat me up.
- 43:19Um, just so innocent.
- 43:22Um, and it is rewatching it.
- 43:28Cause obviously I've seen it a million times.
- 43:30I saw it when it first came out.
- 43:32It really is the perfect way to break up the Avengers because whatever his name
- 43:41is, the Sokovian was correct.
- 43:44You don't attack from the outside.
- 43:45You have to attack from the inside.
- 43:47That being said, this all just to show just how immature Tony really is.
- 43:53Like I get it.
- 43:54I get that it's your appearance.
- 43:56A hundred percent.
- 43:57I understand that.
- 43:58But you also need to understand that it wasn't Bucky's choice.
- 44:04He was brainwashed.
- 44:06He, they were actively trying to unbrainwash him.
- 44:09It was true.
- 44:10And I'm not getting into like the whole political, um, whatever it's
- 44:14called, the, uh, the, uh, the Stanford experiment.
- 44:18Like, that's not what this was.
- 44:20He was truly brainwashed, um, with no control over what he was doing.
- 44:25That being said, I do think Cap should have told Tony ahead of time.
- 44:31And that's what, I mean, that's what ended there.
- 44:34Cause again, I don't want to go as far as a friendship because I don't
- 44:36think that Tony Stark and Captain America weren't necessarily friends.
- 44:40They were maybe just beyond colleagues, you know, they were, there was a mutual
- 44:44respect, but I don't think there was a kinship like, uh, like Tony even had.
- 44:53Tony said they were friends.
- 44:55They're in the, in the ice, then let the ice thing.
- 44:59And Cap says, he's my friend.
- 45:02And Tony goes, so was I.
- 45:04So in Tony's mind, they were friends.
- 45:06And Tony, yeah.
- 45:07You know, I, I, I do think Cap was in the wrong there.
- 45:11A hundred percent, I guess.
- 45:12Like, you know, once he figured it out,
- 45:15but also when's the right time to say, Hey, just so you know,
- 45:18by the way, my old best friends, I'm like, you know, like the thirties and forties.
- 45:22Yeah.
- 45:22He killed your parents.
- 45:23So obviously that was the new screen reading from the comic books.
- 45:28So in the comic books, what happens in civil war is, um, one of the runaways,
- 45:33I think one of the teams of X-Men gangs goes to a site and a terrorist, uh,
- 45:39supervillain blows himself up and kills a load of kids in a school.
- 45:43So that happens.
- 45:45And then the government's like, well, we need now to have
- 45:48superheroes and supervillains.
- 45:49Anyone with powers needs to be registered so they can be held to account.
- 45:53And Tony is very much.
- 45:54Yes.
- 45:54That needs to happen.
- 45:55And Cap is no, but the catalyst for that is somewhat different.
- 46:01Whereas in this catalyst is the Sokovia, it's essentially dropping a city on,
- 46:08you know, not by ignoring the fact that they save the vast majority of the
- 46:12people in the city.
- 46:15I, I thought the Sokovia Accords was stupid.
- 46:16I was on Cap's side.
- 46:18Um, he had to do something because they didn't have access to the rest of the
- 46:23Marvel product.
- 46:25I mean, cause the main, one of the main writers of that, of the,
- 46:30like of the Avengers initiative or like that, that registration superhero
- 46:34registration act was Reed Richards, Mr.
- 46:36Fantastic.
- 46:37I'm not even saying that I was a stupid dot point.
- 46:40I thought like I, if the Sokovia Accords are real, I would agree with Cap.
- 46:44They should not be making lists of people with or without.
- 46:49Yeah.
- 46:50And it becomes that, you know, in the comics, there's this amazing where, um,
- 46:56basically Tony brings Peter Parker on site very early on.
- 47:00And Peter Parker reveals himself.
- 47:02And then that has an impact on his life.
- 47:05And he realizes that he went the wrong way with it and he should have gone with
- 47:08camp and you get that whole thing.
- 47:10And then on the back of all of that is that, uh, Iron Man clones Thor.
- 47:19And a big thing in the whole thing is that he clones Thor.
- 47:21Cause at this point Thor's off world, nobody knows where he is.
- 47:24Thor's not getting involved.
- 47:25You know, he's like, this is, this is Midgard.
- 47:28It's not me.
- 47:29It wasn't yet.
- 47:30It's an earth thing.
- 47:31Um, so Thor then shows up and is pissed and falls out with Tony because he's like,
- 47:38you clone me, that's wrong.
- 47:40Everything you've done is right.
- 47:41You've created a beast sort of thing.
- 47:43And then to top it all, there is an amazing post civil war
- 47:47comic, which is Cap's dead.
- 47:51And, and it ends, is that fallen?
- 47:53Is that fallen son?
- 47:55Uh, no, I think it's just
- 47:58civil war.
- 48:00Like, anyway, the whole book is Tony sitting down next to Cap's corpse and
- 48:08apologizing and talking him through why he did what he did and why he now realizes
- 48:13he was wrong to do what he had done.
- 48:16And it's just brilliant.
- 48:16Cause you're just like, it's such a moving book that, that it just captured.
- 48:22And we all know Cap comes back after that anyway, because he's
- 48:24Captain America and all that sort of stuff.
- 48:25But that, that for me is, it was a great moment.
- 48:29It was a great moment.
- 48:30And, and the strength of the comic book over the film is that the comic book was
- 48:35a representation of that is, that's not like a representation of America.
- 48:42It's torn, you know, the way it started with the, the explosion and the killing
- 48:46school kids in school and their weapons, they need to be controlled.
- 48:50You know, we know what conversations being had there.
- 48:52And then it was very much the pro and anti of that.
- 48:55And it was, it was just very well done, but it was done because Marvel's offices
- 49:00were having those conversations in the office, they were divided.
- 49:04And so they were like, well, let's put that in somewhere.
- 49:07And for me, I was so excited to see him do civil war.
- 49:10And I think it's a great movie.
- 49:12And I think they did a good job of it, but it still missed a lot of the beats that
- 49:16made the comic book so much better.
- 49:18Isn't that always the thing?
- 49:19The book is never, the movie's never as good as the book.
- 49:22Well, you know, but as Luke said, they had more characters to play with.
- 49:27Yeah.
- 49:28They had more characters to play with.
- 49:29That was so good.
- 49:31Um, and even, so, uh, Zemo, uh, Helmut Zemo makes an appearance in Marvel's zombies.
- 49:41Quite interesting.
- 49:42So I haven't finished yet.
- 49:44No media season.
- 49:45Um, I think I've seen the first three episodes now, but he, he
- 49:47made such a significant appearance.
- 49:50Um, so it was quite funny to see that.
- 49:52And obviously Danny Brill's done the voice and, uh, but he's very much more
- 49:57barren Zemo, he's moved on, he's become a supervillain, he grows to be sort of moment.
- 50:03But okay.
- 50:05Was that, oh, and then you had post credits.
- 50:10Um, we hold that.
- 50:11Okay.
- 50:11So post credits.
- 50:12We have, um, Bucky's in Wakanda.
- 50:15That's when we first get introduced to Wakanda.
- 50:17No, no, but I mean, oh yeah.
- 50:20Yeah.
- 50:20But I was talking about that post credit that came as the next one on the list.
- 50:25No, no, I didn't see the postcard.
- 50:26I watched black widow minus the post.
- 50:28I got a post credit.
- 50:29Yeah.
- 50:30So all black widow.
- 50:31Yes.
- 50:31I'm taking the list now.
- 50:32This is why I asked about things out of order because I didn't realize how early
- 50:38on black widow takes place in the timeline.
- 50:41Cause obviously we know it's not released for until after end game.
- 50:48Yeah, it came out, it came out after it came out after end game, but I think
- 50:52takes place before iron man two.
- 50:55No, no, no.
- 50:56It takes place directly after civil war.
- 50:59Oh, it's directly after civil war.
- 51:00She's on the run for letting them go because she let, uh, you know,
- 51:06Black panther has reported her.
- 51:08She's now on the run.
- 51:10Um, yeah, so it's immediately after civil war.
- 51:13Yeah.
- 51:14I only think then because, you know, she had her moment in end game and people
- 51:20were like, but she never had her own, she never had her own project, but also
- 51:25it managed to allow them to introduce other characters, particularly to keep
- 51:30the widow character alive, as opposed to Scarlett Johansson's black widow.
- 51:35Um, and it was part of some deal that she'd negotiate with Disney as well,
- 51:40which it caused loads of controversy as well.
- 51:43There was a big stink because it came out during COVID.
- 51:47Yeah.
- 51:47And it wasn't released in cinema and only released on Disney plus and, you know,
- 51:51and, and she was entitled to back in credit.
- 51:55Yeah.
- 51:55And, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and,
- 52:00and, and, and, and she probably did the credits on that, but she never got.
- 52:03Because she's, but I will defend that lawsuit all day.
- 52:09She did.
- 52:09She bought the lawsuit, not just in her own behalf, she brought for all the
- 52:13other people working on the movie who were also screwed out of their own money
- 52:18because it was on streaming and not released in theaters and everyone's
- 52:21like, oh, Scarlett Johansson doesn't need more money.
- 52:23She didn't do it for her.
- 52:24She did it for that.
- 52:25Yeah.
- 52:25But Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick did the exact same thing for the
- 52:28I think it was the second Trolls movie for the exact same reason that, you know
- 52:32they worked on that project as did a lot of people with the idea that they
- 52:36would be back in cinema credits.
- 52:38And we went through what we went through as a global society.
- 52:42So there was nothing that could have been done, but Disney, they
- 52:45could have held back, I suppose.
- 52:47But they needed content as well.
- 52:49Yeah.
- 52:50And still a good movie.
- 52:52Um, I do, I love, love, love, love the relationship between
- 52:56her, Yelena and David Harbour.
- 52:59Um, like their banter, so good.
- 53:03Um, like I think my favorite part is right after they break him out of prison,
- 53:07they're in the helicopter and he asks if it's the time of the month or something.
- 53:12And Yelena just like starts talking about periods and then go, and he's
- 53:16like, oh, I don't want to hear it.
- 53:17And she was, oh no, don't worry.
- 53:19I don't have it because they ripped it out.
- 53:20They went in, they scooped it out, they ripped it out.
- 53:23Um, and just like that, like that, I know they weren't real family, but
- 53:28that familial, like, you know, the jabs and that comes up a lot, you
- 53:34know, it comes up in the Thunderbolts.
- 53:36It does.
- 53:36You know, we're not really that real family, but we are like, we
- 53:40need more Rachel vice though.
- 53:42She should, she Thunderbolts.
- 53:43She was, she was great.
- 53:46I think my, I think one of my favorite lines is the, uh, when Yelena
- 53:49is talking about like the vest, oh, look, I bought this vest.
- 53:51It's got so many pockets.
- 53:52I can do so much things with it.
- 53:54You like it.
- 53:54It's cool.
- 53:54Right?
- 53:56Like you're still, still wanting to get her not sister's approval
- 54:00on her clothing choice.
- 54:02I like that was a nice little,
- 54:04well, we've mentioned Rachel, right?
- 54:06So, um, mummy for,
- 54:11we're all coming back.
- 54:13Brilliant.
- 54:13I love it.
- 54:15I love it.
- 54:16Um,
- 54:17to Marco people.
- 54:19Yeah.
- 54:20Cause Rachel vice is marble.
- 54:21And then the guy who played her brothers in agents of shield.
- 54:28I don't know.
- 54:29It's nice.
- 54:29I believe you.
- 54:30Yeah.
- 54:32Um, okay.
- 54:33So black widow as an overall, are we going to get a score for black widow?
- 54:38Oh, um, I'm going to get black widow.
- 54:42Okay.
- 54:42I'm good.
- 54:43Black widow is six, six.
- 54:46I'll just sit, I think it's still a good movie, but I think, okay.
- 54:49Cause now remember I'm, I'm not watching them in bubbles.
- 54:52I'm watching them, you know, in like, but with the other things coming
- 54:56from civil war, which I'm gonna give a nine and then go right into black
- 55:01widow, six, um, defectors.
- 55:06Okay.
- 55:06Iron fist.
- 55:07I'm going to give 7.5 defenders and give them an 8.5.
- 55:12I'm just looking at age of Ultron.
- 55:14You gave a six.
- 55:15Uh, agents of shield season two is 6.5.
- 55:21Yeah, I think, I mean, it doubled blade score.
- 55:23So we'll take that.
- 55:28I just, I know it was, it was still a good movie.
- 55:30No, I'm gonna give it a 6.5, 6.5.
- 55:36Yeah.
- 55:37All right.
- 55:37Also, the other thing I finished was agents of shield season four.
- 55:42He's been three, three.
- 55:43Yeah.
- 55:44So now we can finally talk about agents of shield the entire season
- 55:46three, which we won't go into big detail because we've already spent
- 55:50way too much time talking about the defenders, but I'm going
- 55:53to give that a five out of 10.
- 55:56I think that's respectful summary of season three.
- 56:01So it's actually like three different seat things in one season,
- 56:04the first half of the season.
- 56:07Um, what happens the first half of the season?
- 56:11I think Jemma Simmons is stuck on a planet and they have to get her.
- 56:16Yes.
- 56:17The hydro planet and the hydro planet second half of the season.
- 56:21She's back.
- 56:22They've also brought the Hydra back with them.
- 56:26Who is the person?
- 56:28So an agent's a shield.
- 56:29We've got space travel already.
- 56:32Yeah.
- 56:32And interdimensional travel.
- 56:34It's actually interdimensional travel.
- 56:36Yeah.
- 56:37Yeah.
- 56:38You can see why maybe Kevin Feige was like, okay, guys, we're going
- 56:42in a different direction slash you're taking all of our good content
- 56:46way before we're ready to use it with good characters, not
- 56:49with characters you've created.
- 56:52Yeah.
- 56:52That was with that weird rock that turns into like black goo.
- 56:56I remember
- 56:56yeah.
- 56:57The obelisk.
- 56:58That's it.
- 56:58The obelisk.
- 56:59Yeah.
- 56:59Yeah.
- 57:00Okay.
- 57:01Um, and then they bring back the Hydra.
- 57:04Um, because even mine is, this is, um, what's his face, right.
- 57:09Grant ward.
- 57:10Grant ward.
- 57:10Yep.
- 57:11Do Colson kills with his bare hands.
- 57:14Yep.
- 57:15Or really his fake hands.
- 57:16Cause at this point, Colson has true yet.
- 57:18Cause he has the mechanical hand.
- 57:20Yeah.
- 57:20Yeah.
- 57:21Cause Mac had cut it off.
- 57:22And then the last, the, what?
- 57:25The Luke Skywalker hand.
- 57:26Yeah.
- 57:26The Luke Skywalker hand.
- 57:27Yeah.
- 57:28Yeah.
- 57:28Yeah.
- 57:28Yeah.
- 57:28Yeah.
- 57:28Yeah.
- 57:28Yeah.
- 57:28Yeah.
- 57:29Yeah.
- 57:29Yeah.
- 57:29Yeah.
- 57:29Yeah.
- 57:29Yeah.
- 57:30Yeah.
- 57:30Yeah.
- 57:30Yeah.
- 57:30Yeah.
- 57:30Yeah.
- 57:30Yeah.
- 57:30Yeah.
- 57:30Yeah.
- 57:30Yeah.
- 57:31Yeah.
- 57:31The last, the, what?
- 57:33The Luke Skywalker hand.
- 57:35Yeah.
- 57:36Pretty much.
- 57:36Yeah.
- 57:37Computer.
- 57:39Um, and then the last three episodes of the season take place after, um,
- 57:45doesn't it take place after civil war?
- 57:48Yeah.
- 57:49Let me say.
- 57:50You're pretty sure it is after civil war.
- 57:52Yeah.
- 57:52After civil war.
- 57:53So, um, like they even talk about the Sokovia Accords and all of that.
- 57:59Um, it was fine.
- 58:00Like, I don't even remember most of it.
- 58:04I think your next season is the one that Max's favorite.
- 58:08Next season is, uh, Greg, uh, Clark's favorite.
- 58:11Oh, is this the one where Ghost Reidy shows up?
- 58:14Yeah.
- 58:15Robbie Reyes.
- 58:16Yeah.
- 58:17Ghost Reidy shows up and they blew their budget on like four episodes.
- 58:21And then they were like, oh no, we can't bring him back.
- 58:23Well, he comes back for a hot meal at the end of the season.
- 58:26I think.
- 58:26Yeah.
- 58:27But he was meant to be a pre-burso, wasn't it?
- 58:30To create a Ghost Reidy show.
- 58:32A Robbie Reyes show.
- 58:34That was the hope that was coming off the back of it.
- 58:36And they were like, we love it, but it was too expensive.
- 58:42Okay.
- 58:42It was good.
- 58:43It was a good week.
- 58:44Two weeks, I guess.
- 58:45Very good.
