- 0:00Speaker 1: Buleg Cavs Show Special guest. My guy just dropped this up.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Are we calling this the album or mixtape? Okay, okay
- 0:07Speaker 1: read the Room, Yes, sir, the new project finally out. Man,
- 0:11Speaker 1: you were on the show. I mean, I don't know
- 0:13Speaker 1: a couple of times obviously. Uh. It's just good to see, man,
- 0:16Speaker 1: you finally got this body of work out, because I
- 0:18Speaker 1: know you're sitting on like a fucking one hundred and
- 0:20Speaker 1: fifty songs or something that didn't even make a lot
- 0:22Speaker 1: of stuff didn't make it. But yeah, man, like, how's
- 0:26Speaker 1: it feel to finally get this out? Man Like? Amazing?
- 0:30Speaker 1: It's a very good feeling. It feel a little weird, though,
- 0:33Speaker 1: man Like, now that people can hear this ship that
- 0:36Speaker 1: we were just hearing it. I was telling the homies, Hey,
- 0:38Speaker 1: don't let nobody hear that, you know, guard that right
- 0:40Speaker 1: now everybody has access to it, So it feel a
- 0:42Speaker 1: little weird, you know. But how difficult was it because
- 0:45Speaker 1: you do have so much music, You've been recording so
- 0:48Speaker 1: much over the last few years. How difficult was it
- 0:51Speaker 1: to bring every like, cut, cut everything down into one project.
- 0:55Speaker 1: It was easy. It was very easy because most of
- 0:57Speaker 1: the ship for Reading the Room, like we caught a
- 0:59Speaker 1: wave when we realized it was Read the Room. So
- 1:02Speaker 1: a lot of that music was made like in a
- 1:05Speaker 1: I want to say, like a two to three weeks
- 1:07Speaker 1: span if I'm not gonna like over a case of course,
- 1:09Speaker 1: in like a month. M So, do you have your
- 1:14Speaker 1: your stuff that you're like, Yo, this is for the
- 1:16Speaker 1: quote unquote debut album. Yeah, there's a song that I
- 1:19Speaker 1: wanted to put on Read the Room that JFK or
- 1:21Speaker 1: the Eastie Boys. He was like, he gave me like
- 1:24Speaker 1: three calls like bro, take that off, like you know,
- 1:27Speaker 1: like for the album. It was more so like it
- 1:29Speaker 1: just didn't fit like the energy of like towards the
- 1:33Speaker 1: end of this project, the content wise, it was perfect,
- 1:36Speaker 1: like it was something that I really wanted to say.
- 1:39Speaker 1: But he was like, Man, if anybody's gonna have like
- 1:41Speaker 1: a I don't know moment, it's gonna be that song.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Not because the song isn't right, but just for where
- 1:47Speaker 1: were placing it in terms of like in terms of
- 1:49Speaker 1: like if people were to press play on the album
- 1:52Speaker 1: from top to box, that might be a song that
- 1:54Speaker 1: they'd be like that might deter them from yeah, just
- 1:56Speaker 1: because it was slower and so we subed that song
- 1:59Speaker 1: out with Living Proof doing with Don Kennedy to dom
- 2:02Speaker 1: manot to do shouted me out on here, Yes he did.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I still am waiting for west Side Griselda to come
- 2:10Speaker 1: out somewhere. I sent it to Benny the Butcher. Yeah,
- 2:14Speaker 1: I mentioned it to h I mentioned to Bennie the
- 2:16Speaker 1: Butcher I seen him. He said he's gonna get you.
- 2:19Speaker 1: So he said he's gonna get on it. Oh damn,
- 2:21Speaker 1: I didn't know that I mentioned it. I put him
- 2:23Speaker 1: on FaceTime with with Simba and he's like, I got you.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Send it over here. You'll see what happened. I met
- 2:28Speaker 1: him at like a death Row party Snoop was having,
- 2:31Speaker 1: and like I told him, I'm like, yo, I got
- 2:33Speaker 1: signed off a song called west Side Griselta. So we
- 2:36Speaker 1: chopped it and it was just cool. But Simba actually,
- 2:41Speaker 1: like last week he was like, yo, let's shoot a
- 2:42Speaker 1: video for that. So I don't know, man, So that
- 2:46Speaker 1: might be on Simba's album. I don't know it might,
- 2:50Speaker 1: but yeah, Simba definitely just asked me last week to
- 2:52Speaker 1: shoot a video for it. Hey man, it's about time.
- 2:54Speaker 1: That song is fucking crazy for you, Like, uh, you know,
- 2:58Speaker 1: because I feel like there's been a lot of into
- 3:00Speaker 1: a patient for your you've been on Atlantic. I feel
- 3:03Speaker 1: like for a while you're like going on, it'll be
- 3:05Speaker 1: two years in In terms of just like you played
- 3:09Speaker 1: your music for a lot of people, right, there's been
- 3:12Speaker 1: a lot of like, damn, Jason's got some shit right
- 3:16Speaker 1: whenever he you know, whenever he gets that button press.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Do you feel like any sort of relief in terms
- 3:23Speaker 1: of like finally just getting the very first thing out,
- 3:26Speaker 1: in terms of like since you because I feel like
- 3:29Speaker 1: sometimes you can overthink your first project, you know, and
- 3:35Speaker 1: I feel like if it didn't feel like that that
- 3:37Speaker 1: was the case when you listen to this album. But
- 3:39Speaker 1: do you feel any like personal relief finally getting it
- 3:41Speaker 1: kind of off your chest. I felt it for a
- 3:43Speaker 1: second and then it was gone instantly. Because it's like
- 3:47Speaker 1: I'm in like a real, real, like awkward space in
- 3:51Speaker 1: my career. It's like I'm not in the building, but
- 3:54Speaker 1: I'm in a parking lot. So it's like some people
- 3:58Speaker 1: like me, but they don't love me yet. So it's
- 4:00Speaker 1: like I could post something on the gram today, right
- 4:03Speaker 1: and it goes crazy. Then I could post something two
- 4:05Speaker 1: days later and nobody taps in because it's not really
- 4:08Speaker 1: like the popular cool thing to just be like, oh
- 4:10Speaker 1: we fuck with Jason Casher. So I dropped the project
- 4:13Speaker 1: that I really feel is a great body of work
- 4:16Speaker 1: without like a large fan base. So that relief that
- 4:19Speaker 1: I felt of oh now we got it out it
- 4:23Speaker 1: immediately turned into pressure of damn, we got to get
- 4:25Speaker 1: these people to hear this shite now the real work sense,
- 4:29Speaker 1: not a real work start, because it's not like I
- 4:31Speaker 1: had a large ass fan base and then just dropped
- 4:34Speaker 1: the great body of work and everybody's tapping in and
- 4:36Speaker 1: now everybody's sliding to it. It's like, I know, when
- 4:39Speaker 1: somebody pressed play on this shit, fuck with it. But
- 4:42Speaker 1: I gotta get them to press play on this ship.
- 4:44Speaker 1: What are those things that because I feel like the
- 4:46Speaker 1: one thing you were doing early on that was getting
- 4:49Speaker 1: a lot of engagement was you and your freestyles in
- 4:52Speaker 1: the car freestyles on IG one of the things like
- 4:57Speaker 1: now that you feel like you need to do to
- 4:58Speaker 1: try to convert just hip hop people in the Jason
- 5:01Speaker 1: Cash fans. For one, like I'm not the most social,
- 5:06Speaker 1: so like for one being off sorry, letting them see
- 5:08Speaker 1: me like you know, and also just engaging my whole team,
- 5:12Speaker 1: because it's not like the whole Jason Cash thing is.
- 5:16Speaker 1: It's like a package thing like the East Boys did
- 5:18Speaker 1: the whole project. So it's like great, great name East
- 5:22Speaker 1: Boys from the East Side. Yeah, it's amazing, so empowering
- 5:26Speaker 1: my team as well. So it's like it's it has
- 5:28Speaker 1: to be kind of like a force as opposed to
- 5:30Speaker 1: just me because I can't just get out in the
- 5:32Speaker 1: car and just rap every day like niggas know I
- 5:34Speaker 1: could rap. So after a while it's like, oh damn,
- 5:37Speaker 1: you could rap. That's tight. Now if I go, I
- 5:39Speaker 1: can go wrap something in the car right and it'd
- 5:42Speaker 1: be like it'll do what to do. But if I
- 5:44Speaker 1: go rap that same verse like sitting down with somebody,
- 5:47Speaker 1: it'll do way more than what it'll do coming out
- 5:50Speaker 1: the car. It's like we already know you can rap.
- 5:52Speaker 1: It's sad, but it's like, you know, this music shit
- 5:54Speaker 1: of smoking mirror, so they want to see like the
- 5:57Speaker 1: smoke on the mirror, Like you know what I mean?
- 6:00Speaker 1: Do you do like cause you know, just on some
- 6:03Speaker 1: like real basic grasp roots level shit. I always tell
- 6:07Speaker 1: like up and coming artists to engage with your fans,
- 6:10Speaker 1: like do you like reply back on comments. Do you
- 6:13Speaker 1: like it's I'm not gonna lie, Like I used to
- 6:15Speaker 1: respond to every comment, but like it starts fucking with
- 6:18Speaker 1: my anxiety as more and more comments coming, like while
- 6:21Speaker 1: you're taking a ship, bust open the phone, see who's
- 6:23Speaker 1: fucking with you? Be like you don't like it? You know,
- 6:25Speaker 1: I feel like people really like it's a small thing.
- 6:29Speaker 1: But when you're like starting out, I feel like that
- 6:30Speaker 1: shit matters to people because they'll be like, oh shit, nah,
- 6:33Speaker 1: yeah for sure. Sometimes it's hard. It got to a
- 6:36Speaker 1: weird space of like, all right, so I'll miss certain ones.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Somebody a deem like damn, you responded to everybody and
- 6:42Speaker 1: ignoring my ship. Most people are weird though, Yeah, so
- 6:46Speaker 1: it'd be like, all right, so let me just not
- 6:47Speaker 1: say shit. But I go I go live a lot
- 6:50Speaker 1: in the studio and you know, I play music or
- 6:53Speaker 1: I just talk to people, et cetera. Shit like that,
- 6:56Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And a lot of times
- 6:58Speaker 1: when somebody like posted, you know, I'll respond when I
- 7:03Speaker 1: see it. Sometimes I just literally don't see it. I
- 7:06Speaker 1: might see it like way after the fact and it's missing,
- 7:08Speaker 1: like what they responded to. But I try to respond
- 7:11Speaker 1: and engage as much as I can. And when I'm
- 7:13Speaker 1: outside and I run into people, I try to be
- 7:15Speaker 1: as cool as I can. Again, like I'm not man,
- 7:19Speaker 1: I'm human for one, and I'm adjusting to people like
- 7:21Speaker 1: knowing me before I know them. And I also got shot.
- 7:25Speaker 1: So it's like when somebody just you got some anxiety. Yeah,
- 7:27Speaker 1: like when somebody's just random walking up on me. Sometimes
- 7:30Speaker 1: it'd be like, you know, in my mind, I have
- 7:33Speaker 1: to remember, like, okay, you're a rapper, especially because it's
- 7:36Speaker 1: like I still live my same life. I'm still with
- 7:38Speaker 1: the same homies overround the same way. So it's like
- 7:42Speaker 1: until I go certain places and somebody asks me for
- 7:44Speaker 1: a picture, or somebody walk up and tell me like, yo,
- 7:46Speaker 1: I really fuck with you. It don't be hitting me
- 7:48Speaker 1: sometimes that they're tapped into what I'm doing, you know
- 7:51Speaker 1: what I'm saying, because I've been so used to just
- 7:54Speaker 1: you know, moving them maneuver around the same way. Yo,
- 7:57Speaker 1: what I man. We gotta stop the interview real quick
- 7:58Speaker 1: to tell you about our good folks at blue Chew.
- 8:01Speaker 1: That's right, go to blue choo dot com. Fellas you know,
- 8:05Speaker 1: sometimes you go through some stress, you go through a
- 8:08Speaker 1: little anxiety and your dick is not performing maybe how
- 8:12Speaker 1: you'd like. It's called ED. A lot of guys go
- 8:15Speaker 1: through ED. You could just be old as shit. If
- 8:17Speaker 1: you're watching this and your dick ain't working like it
- 8:19Speaker 1: did when you were like twenty, you know what I mean. Well, listen,
- 8:21Speaker 1: blue choo, it is the wave. How about this? The
- 8:25Speaker 1: same active ingredients as viagra and sialis getting delivered right
- 8:29Speaker 1: to your door in a chewable form, indiscrete packaging. And

- 8:37Speaker 1: awkward visits to the doctor's office. Zero. You go online,
- 8:40Speaker 1: you sign up with the promo code boot Leg. That's right,

- 8:55Speaker 1: fucking like you were fucking never fucking before. Your dick's
- 8:58Speaker 1: gonna I'm gonna assume you're adding at least a quarter
- 9:03Speaker 1: of an inch of erection. That shit's gonna be rocked up,
- 9:07Speaker 1: rocked up and socked up, all right, boys, So what
- 9:09Speaker 1: you need to do one more time. Go to bluetoo
- 9:11Speaker 1: dot com and use that promo code bootleg and get
- 9:14Speaker 1: your first month for free bootleg promo code Bootleg on
- 9:18Speaker 1: blue choo dot com. Let's get back to the interview.
- 9:21Speaker 1: When someone gets shot, I can only imagine that you
- 9:24Speaker 1: have to move around with a certain level of PTSD
- 9:27Speaker 1: or anxiety. Yeah, I mean, yeah, fortunately, like I probably
- 9:33Speaker 1: would be different if I got shot in a situation
- 9:35Speaker 1: that was intended for me, because I'll probably be scared
- 9:38Speaker 1: to go outside. But then again, the world is so
- 9:39Speaker 1: fucking crazy that it's like, so your situation, you got shot,
- 9:43Speaker 1: it was just kind of wrong place, long time, long
- 9:45Speaker 1: time la shit, you know. But that's that's even crazy
- 9:49Speaker 1: to talk about it like that, Like it's just some
- 9:50Speaker 1: la shit, Like it's regular but right, But it's not
- 9:53Speaker 1: like someone was seeking out to hurt you. No, yeah,
- 9:58Speaker 1: that's bad. I mean, that's definitely better. So you you
- 10:01Speaker 1: moveing around, it's a little easier to move around knowing that,
- 10:04Speaker 1: like it wasn't nobody that was like looking for Jason.
- 10:08Speaker 1: But in the same breakfast, like when you in crowds
- 10:10Speaker 1: and you in places and shit, it's like, you know,
- 10:12Speaker 1: this shit could go up because it's bro, just you know,
- 10:16Speaker 1: I ain't even gonna do that. Something happened recently. Hell yeah,
- 10:20Speaker 1: we was fucking. I'm say I'm not gonna shay a
- 10:23Speaker 1: place but me and the hommies we went to this
- 10:25Speaker 1: day party, right, and we left this day party and
- 10:28Speaker 1: we went to this this boring grill to watch the fight. God.
- 10:33Speaker 1: So it's tight because I'm like, Okay, this is the
- 10:35Speaker 1: spot motherfucker's be at. It's like I'm outside. It's like,
- 10:38Speaker 1: you know, I'm walking in the hummies, like, hey, you
- 10:40Speaker 1: see them pointing that shit. I'm sitting there eating. They
- 10:43Speaker 1: play my son, they play top down, and right after
- 10:45Speaker 1: the top down, they go into they play him. So
- 10:48Speaker 1: I'm eating, I'm dancing. It's like this is a vibe. Dog.
- 10:50Speaker 1: I go outside, right, I come inside. I'm like, I
- 10:53Speaker 1: see my cousin. I sent my again. I passed my
- 10:58Speaker 1: cousin my dream. I'm like, mother, the bathroom shots just
- 11:02Speaker 1: ring out inside. Bro, Oh my mama, Oh my god.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I'm hiding in the supply closet. Oh hell no, I've
- 11:09Speaker 1: been in that situation where even recently I was in
- 11:12Speaker 1: like a ship. There's a shitty city outside of I
- 11:16Speaker 1: don't want to say shitty. There's a city outside of
- 11:18Speaker 1: Fresno that I dj' did in. I forget the name
- 11:21Speaker 1: of the city, but we ended up doing this bar
- 11:25Speaker 1: and ten minutes left before this thing closes, fucking just
- 11:30Speaker 1: right out front, just gunshots, like a fucking machine gun. Right, So, like, well,
- 11:35Speaker 1: I was on the floor, Bro, I'm bro, I'm run
- 11:39Speaker 1: to the supply ship. Then I'm like fuck, I'm still
- 11:41Speaker 1: hearing scrambling and shit. So now I'm hiding behind the
- 11:43Speaker 1: rack with the food on that shit. But so apparently
- 11:48Speaker 1: they say that it wasn't shooting inside the restaurant, was
- 11:50Speaker 1: outside of it closest hill, you know what I'm saying.
- 11:55Speaker 1: And Bro, so that happens right the next day. I
- 11:59Speaker 1: had the host that pinhouse that way literally back outside
- 12:03Speaker 1: the next day and I'm like fuck, you know, but yeah,
- 12:07Speaker 1: you're like very much like, uh fuck, this happened yesterday.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Now I got to like, I'm like, fuck, like, yeah,
- 12:16Speaker 1: that's it was That's crazy. Yeah, that's that's definitely. Uh.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I mean, it's kind of part of your job now, right. Yeah,
- 12:23Speaker 1: that's why I'm like pull up taping. That's part of
- 12:26Speaker 1: the you know, that's part of the ship Like, So
- 12:28Speaker 1: that's why I don't really do too much like clubbing
- 12:30Speaker 1: ort like just for fun or just because because it's
- 12:33Speaker 1: like I mean, I'm be honest with you. It was
- 12:35Speaker 1: like the kind of music you make, like I'm not sure,
- 12:37Speaker 1: Like I mean, go go where you're paid to go,
- 12:40Speaker 1: Like obviously every once in a while, pop out, show
- 12:42Speaker 1: your face, but like I'm not sure, like you pulling
- 12:45Speaker 1: up to wherever the fuck it's really gonna result in
- 12:50Speaker 1: you getting more fans or more streams. See that the
- 12:53Speaker 1: thing is for me, right, So fans and streams right,
- 12:58Speaker 1: that's that's dope, that's what. But one thing for me
- 13:02Speaker 1: right now is like numbers versus impact. So it's like
- 13:06Speaker 1: I know my reach, like my direct reach is what's
- 13:10Speaker 1: around me. Like I even this project read through them
- 13:12Speaker 1: like I want to super serve Los Angeles or it's
- 13:15Speaker 1: coast like because that's what I can reach out and touch.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Rather somebody put a bunch of money up for this.
- 13:21Speaker 1: That and the third like this is our backyard. This
- 13:23Speaker 1: is where I can go pop up at places like
- 13:25Speaker 1: that where they know me. They seem like, oh I've
- 13:27Speaker 1: been seeing them on the graund that's him. Oh I
- 13:28Speaker 1: fuck with him. Oh yeah, I see him at this shit.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Oh yeah, fuck with him. It's like, so that's the
- 13:33Speaker 1: main thing. It's not even so much trying to convert
- 13:34Speaker 1: it just to streams. It's really just impacting the city
- 13:38Speaker 1: because it's a lot of people. You can have a
- 13:41Speaker 1: whole bunch of monthly listeners and shit and nobody give
- 13:43Speaker 1: a fuck about you. Where it happens a lot. No,
- 13:44Speaker 1: you definitely want to make sure the city's behind years.
- 13:46Speaker 1: So that was like, that was really my main thing,
- 13:48Speaker 1: just so you know, shout out to our guy Ad.
- 13:50Speaker 1: There was a point in time where Ad was at
- 13:52Speaker 1: every fucking nightclub. Oh yeah, I feel like he had
- 13:55Speaker 1: I feel like Ady had stunt doubles in like twenty
- 13:57Speaker 1: seventeen and eighteen because I'd be like, bro, I just
- 14:01Speaker 1: seen what the fuck? And I feel like low key
- 14:05Speaker 1: kind of burned himself out a little because he was
- 14:07Speaker 1: doing all of the fucking clubs. But shout out, and
- 14:10Speaker 1: it wasn't as special when you would see a D. Yeah,
- 14:12Speaker 1: shout out, shout out to a D. That's my guy.
- 14:14Speaker 1: But my personality is a lot different too. Yeah, Ad
- 14:18Speaker 1: peak a D at a club was it was turned
- 14:20Speaker 1: super turns turned like I'm not a turned like, oh man,
- 14:23Speaker 1: the guy's a mania, God bless him and ot No,
- 14:26Speaker 1: for sure, I've seen both of them in the club, Like, yeah,
- 14:28Speaker 1: that's not really they weren't the pandemic wasn't stopping them.
- 14:32Speaker 1: They was going to Scott Stale but not yet. That's
- 14:35Speaker 1: not really my that's not really my energy, like you said,
- 14:38Speaker 1: outside of like top down and ship like that, like
- 14:40Speaker 1: my music, that ain't really like place for it anyway.
- 14:44Speaker 1: What is like in your opinion in terms of just
- 14:47Speaker 1: like because I feel like, you know, l A as
- 14:50Speaker 1: a whole is probably in its best position it's been
- 14:55Speaker 1: in since I don't know, the nineties, depending who you ask.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I mean, look, Kendrick just dropped the We're talking about
- 15:04Speaker 1: everybody from like yourself to Babystone guerrillas too. I mean,
- 15:07Speaker 1: we could go on and on and on blasts. I mean,
- 15:11Speaker 1: I just think, Uh, I also feel like there's a
- 15:14Speaker 1: like a bit more of moving together as much as possible.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Obviously politics getting the way a lot of a lot
- 15:21Speaker 1: of that. But in terms of like some of the
- 15:23Speaker 1: younger cats like, it feels like they're somewhat a unified front,
- 15:27Speaker 1: even if they're you know, not like super close. It
- 15:30Speaker 1: feels like everyone's for the most part, kind of moving
- 15:34Speaker 1: in the right direction. How you feel. I was explaining
- 15:36Speaker 1: this to somebody the other day. It's like what a
- 15:38Speaker 1: lot of people don't know is a lot of us
- 15:40Speaker 1: know each other, like already knew each other before shit
- 15:44Speaker 1: was cracking. Like I knew Kaylan when his name was
- 15:46Speaker 1: young k R. You knew Blasts way back when it
- 15:49Speaker 1: wasn't an X in his name. You know what I'm saying.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Like a lot of us know each other like that
- 15:54Speaker 1: and have been seeing each other move move around, So
- 15:56Speaker 1: it's like it's almost like once you get in the club,
- 16:00Speaker 1: you see somebody you know, it's like, oh, it's the
- 16:01Speaker 1: deal about, let's let's have a drink because we all
- 16:03Speaker 1: in the club. Once you're in the club, then we
- 16:05Speaker 1: can function, you know what I'm saying. But you still
- 16:08Speaker 1: have to get in the club. So once you're in there,
- 16:10Speaker 1: you can move, you can move around. That's why, in
- 16:13Speaker 1: my opinion, why it seems like there's that that unity
- 16:17Speaker 1: or camaraderie, because again, like I said, a lot of
- 16:20Speaker 1: us know each other like Bino. I don't go far
- 16:23Speaker 1: back with Bino, but a couple of years ago, Blast
- 16:27Speaker 1: was doing the show with Bino and I met Beano
- 16:29Speaker 1: like that. So I met Bino a couple of years
- 16:32Speaker 1: before I had music out, But that's from he knew
- 16:35Speaker 1: my boy. So even if we don't all know each
- 16:39Speaker 1: other like personally like that, we know somebody that know
- 16:41Speaker 1: each other that any kind of link that way. So
- 16:44Speaker 1: I feel like that's probably why it seems that way.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I saw you linked up with Dre of the Doctor
- 16:52Speaker 1: sort you funny? I mean, is there another Dre? I
- 16:57Speaker 1: worked with Cooling Dre? Also, Oh there's Cooling Dre Andre
- 17:01Speaker 1: three thousand. Have we checked all the Dre's off the list.
- 17:05Speaker 1: I've never met a j two thousands. I seen him
- 17:07Speaker 1: at complex time, but that's about it me too, and
- 17:09Speaker 1: I fucking he was in the middle of just painting
- 17:11Speaker 1: some shit. You know what's crazy is I that's the
- 17:14Speaker 1: only time I was star trucking. I didn't ask for
- 17:15Speaker 1: a picture for real, because Andre's like top five for me.
- 17:19Speaker 1: My wife was like, just gook it. I'm like, man, nah,
- 17:21Speaker 1: he looks like he's just joined the show. I don't
- 17:25Speaker 1: want to bother. I don't want to be that guy. Yeah,
- 17:27Speaker 1: I'm grad at though, but I'm I'm to the point
- 17:30Speaker 1: I don't even want to ask a picture. If somebody
- 17:32Speaker 1: just take one, it'd be like cool. I think the
- 17:34Speaker 1: last person like I asked for a picture was like
- 17:38Speaker 1: Dom Kennedy or something like that. I mean, you get
- 17:40Speaker 1: the dre picture for sure. Yeah, I took the d picture,
- 17:43Speaker 1: but I was like two years ago, I haven't I
- 17:49Speaker 1: haven't seen him. I saw you were in a Snoop Yeah,
- 17:52Speaker 1: so Snoop. Damn do I ask for the Snoop picture?
- 17:55Speaker 1: Not Fuzzy knowing be like, yeah, let me get a picture. Yeah,
- 17:57Speaker 1: I mean yeah, shout out to Fuzzy because that's what
- 17:59Speaker 1: he should do. You guys get a picture. Yeah, yeah,
- 18:01Speaker 1: because it's not as weird as you're saying. Yo, what's up?
- 18:03Speaker 1: We get a pick? Your manager says, hey, guys, just
- 18:06Speaker 1: get a picture's Snoop man. I got a lot of
- 18:09Speaker 1: love for Snoop. When the last time I seen Snoop,
- 18:12Speaker 1: he don't even call me by my name, and that
- 18:14Speaker 1: he was like, what's up Carson? When I seen so,
- 18:19Speaker 1: shout out to Carson. Uh have you seen uh? Ras
- 18:25Speaker 1: Cast is of Carson? Great? I just ran into ras
- 18:28Speaker 1: cast Damn where there when we've seen. I'm talking to
- 18:32Speaker 1: the east. Well, have you have you heard his son's
- 18:34Speaker 1: ship coast Contra? Oh I didn't know that was his son. Yeah.
- 18:38Speaker 1: The two twins in the group. Damn, they went viral
- 18:41Speaker 1: with this ship. So those two twins I didn't know
- 18:43Speaker 1: two of the four are the twins are ras Cast
- 18:46Speaker 1: his sons? That's dope, which is fucking crazy. Damn. I
- 18:49Speaker 1: just where the fuck did I run into rast Cast?
- 18:53Speaker 1: That might have been at that death ro ship too, Yeah,
- 18:55Speaker 1: it was at that I did a man like I
- 18:59Speaker 1: did this freestyle battle when Carson like some years back
- 19:02Speaker 1: and won like a five hundred dollars cash prize, and like,
- 19:05Speaker 1: rass Cast is the one that paid the price? Who
- 19:07Speaker 1: is it from Carson? Is buya? Tried from out there? Yeah, boo,
- 19:10Speaker 1: y'all tried. Bishop Lamont, Bishop of la Man. Bishop Lamont
- 19:13Speaker 1: was so fire Brandy ray J shout out to Brandy
- 19:17Speaker 1: Man to Metrious ship. Damn what about ray J? I
- 19:20Speaker 1: mean yeah, I was just thinking about the whole Brandy
- 19:22Speaker 1: Jack Harlow. I was like, yo, she really dropped the
- 19:25Speaker 1: freestyle In twenty twenty two? Did you hear the freestylen?
- 19:29Speaker 1: Didn't you know it was. It was good. My first
- 19:32Speaker 1: writing credit was, uh, Brandy was on the record. Really
- 19:37Speaker 1: it was Roe James and Brandy called Plan b Wow
- 19:40Speaker 1: was off his romantic album. Shout Roe James, shout out
- 19:43Speaker 1: to row So Brandy, Ray j Boo. Y'all tried Bishop Lamont.
- 19:47Speaker 1: What is Bishop Lamont up to? I don't know? Can
- 19:49Speaker 1: I tell you? Man? Reason of course, reason Metrioship Junior
- 19:55Speaker 1: ship tupac uh damn? Who else? Because d shit make music? Yeah?
- 20:00Speaker 1: Actually does. He's a talented musician. I feel like I
- 20:04Speaker 1: saw that he did music. He I mean he grew
- 20:05Speaker 1: up in the church. Like it's crazy, like my grandparents
- 20:08Speaker 1: and his grandparents used to fellowship together like back in
- 20:10Speaker 1: the day. Like d Shall he produced. He can play
- 20:14Speaker 1: the piano, drums. Yeah. The shout out to d. S.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Fort Whittaker, Robert Woods wait Force Whittakers from Carson. They're
- 20:22Speaker 1: originally from Texas, but they moved to Carson. He might
- 20:24Speaker 1: have been in his teens. Sit when I used to
- 20:27Speaker 1: work at Starbucks. His brother used to come in there
- 20:29Speaker 1: all the time. I just like, have you ever watched
- 20:32Speaker 1: Ghost Dog? No? I haven't seen it. Forest Whittaker, It's
- 20:35Speaker 1: like a it's like a samurai movie where he plays
- 20:39Speaker 1: like a black samurai in New York and he flies
- 20:41Speaker 1: pigeons around. It's fucking crazy. There's actually you saw the
- 20:46Speaker 1: Kendrick Lamar n ninety five video. Yeah, Dad was inspired
- 20:50Speaker 1: by Ghostal I gotta check that out. Yeah, it's pretty.
- 20:53Speaker 1: It's it's like a little indie movie. Forest Whitaker Man. Yeah,
- 20:56Speaker 1: shout out to my guy Sylvan Sylvan uh and Forest
- 20:59Speaker 1: Whitdock for the two the two most famous lazy eyes
- 21:02Speaker 1: in the game. Like I said, Woods too, he was
- 21:05Speaker 1: on the Rams, but yeah, Robert Woods. Yeah yeah, his
- 21:08Speaker 1: pops is a coach on the Cardinals, my team. Yeah,
- 21:12Speaker 1: so when they beat us, Fuck, it was bittersweet. You
- 21:15Speaker 1: were at that game. I saw you. I was like,
- 21:17Speaker 1: you're not even a fucking Rams fan. You're like, hey, man,
- 21:19Speaker 1: they gave me a jersey because what are you? A
- 21:21Speaker 1: Raiders fan? Yeah? You was out there that Rams jersey
- 21:25Speaker 1: though they gave it to me. But I mean it's
- 21:28Speaker 1: l a I support for show, but you're a Raider fan.
- 21:31Speaker 1: For the record, Rams, I live in La. I'm on
- 21:33Speaker 1: the radio in La. If you ever gave me a jersey,
- 21:36Speaker 1: it's going in the garbage. No bro Robert Woods was
- 21:39Speaker 1: on the team. Carson, I want Los Angeles Rams. I
- 21:44Speaker 1: am an Arizona Cardinals fan to the death, but see
- 21:47Speaker 1: you play them? What up? Y'all? Hey, we gotta stop
- 21:50Speaker 1: the interview to tell you about our partners. They presenting

- 22:38Speaker 1: you're in the AFC, right, I get it. Yeah. I
- 22:40Speaker 1: like if like that's fair easy and it's the same division,
- 22:44Speaker 1: like yeah, yeah, yeah, so yeah, I get it. Like
- 22:46Speaker 1: if you were a Niner fan, you probably feel the
- 22:48Speaker 1: same way I feel, right, But it's like it's unlike YG,
- 22:50Speaker 1: who was an Iiner fan. He's a fake ass Rams fan. Hey, man,
- 22:55Speaker 1: I ain't got nothing to say it. Matter of fact,
- 22:57Speaker 1: I've seen YG say the Kaepernicks that's a that's a
- 23:01Speaker 1: very good, very convenient excuse the whole NFL black balled Kaepernick.
- 23:05Speaker 1: But I'm just saying, like, you know, that was his
- 23:07Speaker 1: that was his reasoning. And then he said he grew
- 23:10Speaker 1: when he was a kid. He was. He says it
- 23:12Speaker 1: on my show. Yeah, no, see, I'll be watching ship.
- 23:14Speaker 1: He's full of shit. He's a fucking Niner fan. I
- 23:17Speaker 1: know me and him have had screaming debates about the
- 23:19Speaker 1: forty nine Ers. Man. Shout out to YG and push
- 23:21Speaker 1: your eye man and great guys. Man shout out to YG.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I love you. By the way, his shoes are super comfy.
- 23:27Speaker 1: They're kind of like Cortez's, but they're Yeah, I asked
- 23:30Speaker 1: pushed your eye for a period, and you know I
- 23:32Speaker 1: got two pairs. I give you a pair. What size
- 23:33Speaker 1: are you? Eleven and a half? I'm a twelve? Oh yeah, perfect?
- 23:37Speaker 1: I just yeah, I feel like I rock the black
- 23:39Speaker 1: and white ones, the red ones. I'm I don't know
- 23:42Speaker 1: if I can go all red like that. I could
- 23:45Speaker 1: do it. You could do it for sure. So with
- 23:47Speaker 1: this album, why read the room? Because that's literally what
- 23:50Speaker 1: I did, Like literally, you know, like kind of how
- 23:54Speaker 1: you just mentioned, like a lot of people know and
- 23:56Speaker 1: I have music, but they knew it because I was
- 23:58Speaker 1: playing the back right, I was in the back, so
- 24:00Speaker 1: many other people was moving. I literally watched like a
- 24:04Speaker 1: fly on the wall. So from that position, I paid
- 24:08Speaker 1: attention to what was going on, what I liked, what
- 24:10Speaker 1: I didn't like, how I would move if I was
- 24:12Speaker 1: in this position, et cetera. And so I just read
- 24:15Speaker 1: the room before I entered it. And then on the
- 24:16Speaker 1: flip side of that, it's like, like I said, I
- 24:19Speaker 1: want to super serve my market, which was the West
- 24:22Speaker 1: Coast I liked. So I had did my research of
- 24:25Speaker 1: I knew Buddy Boogies, Blast Beanos, Blue Bucks all their
- 24:30Speaker 1: monthly listeners on Spotify. I knew what songs was doing
- 24:33Speaker 1: the most, Like I really did my home where I
- 24:35Speaker 1: studied what was going on. I knew what I was
- 24:37Speaker 1: hearing when I was in the streets, and I just
- 24:39Speaker 1: was like, Okay, I'm not going to swim against the current.
- 24:43Speaker 1: My pay attention to what's going on to impact here.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I didn't want to rap people to death. I didn't
- 24:48Speaker 1: want to make a project trying to prove that I
- 24:50Speaker 1: was just this supreme rapper. Like, I wanted to make
- 24:53Speaker 1: good music with replay value, and I paid attention to
- 24:56Speaker 1: what they were playing. So I literally read the room again.
- 25:00Speaker 1: And then ultimately, when this shit work, and you know,
- 25:06Speaker 1: we go from small time in the the big time and
- 25:10Speaker 1: they say, damn, how the fuck did you get it here?
- 25:12Speaker 1: I'm literally telling I read the room. I like that,
- 25:16Speaker 1: how did you? Because you know obviously working with Dom,
- 25:19Speaker 1: I mean I feel like that you're you could hear
- 25:22Speaker 1: some of Dom's influence in what you do. What was
- 25:26Speaker 1: that initial link up? Like it's crazy you said you
- 25:29Speaker 1: asked for the photo. Yeah, well the first time I met,
- 25:33Speaker 1: well not the first time I like met Like I've
- 25:36Speaker 1: been seeing him around, like yeah he's around, Yeah, Like
- 25:38Speaker 1: I've been seeing him around but the first person that
- 25:41Speaker 1: really introduced me to Dom and he probably don't remember.
- 25:43Speaker 1: He I'm sure he doesn't remember this shit was actually
- 25:46Speaker 1: DJ head shot on my guy had Yeah. We were
- 25:49Speaker 1: at Roddy Rich's release party for Anti Social and it
- 25:52Speaker 1: was at the end of the night, like I still
- 25:54Speaker 1: got the picture, and shit, I see Dom outside and
- 25:58Speaker 1: then DJ head walks me up to him like, Yo,
- 26:00Speaker 1: there's somebody you should know this Jason Cash. Now. I
- 26:02Speaker 1: was like, oh yeah, it's like yeah, for sure, shook
- 26:05Speaker 1: hands or whatever. We took a picture and that was it.
- 26:08Speaker 1: And then one day, this is years later, I'm I'm
- 26:13Speaker 1: just driving and I called Fuzzy. I'm like, yo, like,
- 26:16Speaker 1: do you think it'd be hard to get down on
- 26:17Speaker 1: the record. He got off the phone and called me
- 26:20Speaker 1: back maybe like in three minutes, and it's like, y'all
- 26:22Speaker 1: just talked to Archie. Were gonna pull up on Dom
- 26:24Speaker 1: next week. So I pulled up on him. I played
- 26:30Speaker 1: on the song that he was on, which is him,
- 26:33Speaker 1: Like I played him that record and he was like, no,
- 26:37Speaker 1: matter of fact, I was playing the music. He was like,
- 26:40Speaker 1: so y'all just pulled up the press player like what
- 26:43Speaker 1: we doing? Like you know, what you want me on?
- 26:44Speaker 1: Type right? So then I played them that record because
- 26:47Speaker 1: I was playing them some shit first. It was like
- 26:49Speaker 1: before Priority came out of ourselves. So I played them
- 26:51Speaker 1: Priority was fucking with it. I had this song where
- 26:53Speaker 1: Buddy Caught the Cold that he was fucking with. I
- 26:56Speaker 1: was just playing. I was just playing them ship and
- 26:58Speaker 1: then I played them that record, was like started over
- 27:01Speaker 1: played it again, you know, and he said he'd do it.
- 27:04Speaker 1: So we had been waiting, no matter of fact before
- 27:08Speaker 1: the waiting period, like I end up shooting Priority that weekend.
- 27:11Speaker 1: So he pulled up and was in the video and shows, damn,
- 27:13Speaker 1: that's crazy. But we had been waiting for the verse
- 27:16Speaker 1: for a little second, and so I thought maybe he
- 27:18Speaker 1: wasn't fucking with the song. So that song I knew
- 27:22Speaker 1: he fucked with the Buddy record. So I was like,
- 27:24Speaker 1: I took my second verse off and was like I
- 27:27Speaker 1: sent it to him, like, yo, if this one fits
- 27:31Speaker 1: you more, like maybe you can jump on this record.
- 27:33Speaker 1: He was like, I already did the verse. He like,
- 27:35Speaker 1: I sent it to you in a second sent it
- 27:36Speaker 1: to me boom. So we tripping, like damn, we got
- 27:39Speaker 1: the don verse. That's crazy, right, And this at the
- 27:41Speaker 1: time the project is still it's not called Readed the
- 27:44Speaker 1: Room or anything like that, but we've caught that groove
- 27:46Speaker 1: of the sound of what we're doing. And so he
- 27:52Speaker 1: sends the record back right, and now it's getting time
- 27:55Speaker 1: to like, you know, wrap my project up and shit.
- 27:58Speaker 1: So I told I asked him, can I the song?
- 28:01Speaker 1: He was like, yeah, it's all good, but he was
- 28:02Speaker 1: like my hard drive crash or something like that. So
- 28:08Speaker 1: I was like, fuck, So you didn't have the stems
- 28:10Speaker 1: right now? Mind you, this is the only feature on
- 28:13Speaker 1: the project at the time that wasn't recorded in our studio,
- 28:16Speaker 1: and when people don't know you need the stems to
- 28:19Speaker 1: mix some master fuck right. But it was like a
- 28:22Speaker 1: big blessing in disguise because he pulled up to the
- 28:24Speaker 1: studio to re record it, and then he was like, yeah,
- 28:27Speaker 1: we could do some other ship and that's how Living
- 28:28Speaker 1: Proof came about. Wow, that's crazy because a lot of
- 28:33Speaker 1: times you're fucked. Bro shout out to that motherfucking hard
- 28:36Speaker 1: drive crashing, because that's how I ended up with two
- 28:37Speaker 1: don records. He pulled up to re record the verse
- 28:40Speaker 1: and then it was like we started playing records. The
- 28:43Speaker 1: East Boys play I was recording to a different beat,
- 28:46Speaker 1: like I'm about to get down on this ship, and
- 28:48Speaker 1: then he heard some ship. That ship played and I've
- 28:51Speaker 1: seen his head and no, I'm like fuck it. That's why.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Literally the first line is I don't push P. I
- 28:55Speaker 1: pushed OPM's because Don was sitting in the room while
- 28:58Speaker 1: I wraped that. So that's so hard, Like, yeah, what
- 29:01Speaker 1: is obviously with this project kind of your introduction? How
- 29:06Speaker 1: much longer? How long are you gonna wait to drop
- 29:10Speaker 1: the album or is it just kind of to be continued? Damn,
- 29:15Speaker 1: it ain't been out a week. Yeah, I'm just saying
- 29:17Speaker 1: because you know, sometimes, like I feel like in twenty
- 29:19Speaker 1: twenty two, music is like a it's like a weird game.
- 29:23Speaker 1: It's like do you do the high output thing because
- 29:25Speaker 1: people's attention span so small, or do you wait? Like
- 29:29Speaker 1: I feel like, you know, Simba dropped his project in
- 29:32Speaker 1: December of twenty twenty and like I feel I almost
- 29:36Speaker 1: feel like he already should have dropped another project, So
- 29:39Speaker 1: what is like kind of like are you even or
- 29:42Speaker 1: are you not even thinking about that? It really just
- 29:44Speaker 1: like it kind of did you have so much music?
- 29:46Speaker 1: And I would hate for like a lot of that
- 29:47Speaker 1: music just to stay on a hard drive. No, that's
- 29:49Speaker 1: not that's definitely not happening. Or you got a lot
- 29:51Speaker 1: of fucking records, not all of them probably could come out,
- 29:53Speaker 1: but that's definitely not about to happen. How many songs
- 29:55Speaker 1: do you think you're sitting on? Hundreds? Yeah, it's a lot,
- 29:58Speaker 1: because it was a point where making like four songs,
- 30:01Speaker 1: four fart songs in the night type of crazy it was.
- 30:05Speaker 1: It was a point. But in the same breath, like
- 30:07Speaker 1: a lot of those songs, it's like, it won't probably
- 30:09Speaker 1: be that song like that verse alone, something else, sir. Yeah,
- 30:12Speaker 1: you might like what I did on this song, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 30:15Speaker 1: or I might revisit certain beats and do different songs
- 30:19Speaker 1: to it. But it really kind of depends, man, I
- 30:23Speaker 1: feel like right now I want to maximize this project
- 30:25Speaker 1: for sure. Uh, it depends, bro, because like look a
- 30:30Speaker 1: look at after Blast with No Love Loss, Like he
- 30:33Speaker 1: had a he had time, but he dropped music in between,
- 30:37Speaker 1: but it was like maybe like two years before he
- 30:39Speaker 1: dropped another project. Yeah, the Deluxe. Yeah, he did the
- 30:42Speaker 1: Deluxe and then he did the three pack with the
- 30:45Speaker 1: Russ Record record, the Tiger Record. Yeah, the Rust record
- 30:48Speaker 1: in the Draco Record, a two pack, I'm sorry, and
- 30:52Speaker 1: then a couple of other things. But then he was
- 30:54Speaker 1: on so many other people's songs and stuff too, So
- 30:56Speaker 1: it just really depends. Like I was literally played by
- 30:59Speaker 1: year to a degree, But I really want to be
- 31:03Speaker 1: proactive as opposed to reactive, So I have shit in
- 31:08Speaker 1: mind for sure. If I had to double back again
- 31:12Speaker 1: this year, I could for shure for sure. But again
- 31:17Speaker 1: I'm really like intentional, like I don't want to miss either, right.
- 31:20Speaker 1: I really feel like read the room as a project,
- 31:22Speaker 1: you can literally play from top to bottom. Like I
- 31:24Speaker 1: did this pole this Poe yesterday asking people what their
- 31:27Speaker 1: favorite song. It was like the dopest thing with so
- 31:29Speaker 1: many people said different songs, so it was just like
- 31:31Speaker 1: a testament of like the project the strength, and it
- 31:36Speaker 1: also showed me that they really listen to the whole shit.
- 31:38Speaker 1: That's so because if you only have like everyone voting
- 31:41Speaker 1: on one song, that's like okay, well, but if everyone,
- 31:44Speaker 1: if it's kind of spread out, you're like, oh shit,
- 31:45Speaker 1: you really got something here. And the dopest part is like,
- 31:48Speaker 1: I mean, some people said it, but not a lot
- 31:49Speaker 1: of people said the song that's actually my favorite song.
- 31:52Speaker 1: So it's just like, what's your favorite song. I don't care,
- 31:55Speaker 1: that's my favorite song, and after I don't care if
- 31:58Speaker 1: I do, because sometimes you'll be like when you talk
- 32:01Speaker 1: to someone in their album, they were like it changes
- 32:03Speaker 1: every day. Nah, yeah, nah, I don't care. It been
- 32:05Speaker 1: my favorite song for uh, it's been my favorite song
- 32:09Speaker 1: since I made it. If I do, it's like my
- 32:11Speaker 1: favorite song and where I'm rapping, So that's kind of
- 32:13Speaker 1: like how I like tear it off of my favorite
- 32:15Speaker 1: overall song is I don't Care. I feel like the
- 32:17Speaker 1: most before probably probably the song that's the most I
- 32:24Speaker 1: don't even want to say the most significant to me
- 32:26Speaker 1: because my outro same is very, very very much significant.
- 32:29Speaker 1: I'm really talking about my life and all that shit.
- 32:32Speaker 1: But Selfish is what made this project. You read the room.
- 32:36Speaker 1: We were in the studio and they were playing me
- 32:39Speaker 1: beats and I just was like, Man, don't play me
- 32:41Speaker 1: the Jason cash pat play me the shit you play
- 32:45Speaker 1: for everybody else when you're giving them a bank, Like
- 32:47Speaker 1: give me that right, Like don't box me into the
- 32:49Speaker 1: rap shit, Like I just gotta rap. And I made
- 32:52Speaker 1: Selfish that night, and we caught a vibe and after
- 32:55Speaker 1: that it was just like like, oh, this is the direction.
- 32:58Speaker 1: If it was no Selfish, I went to May, I
- 32:59Speaker 1: don't care. I wouldn't have made you know, a lot
- 33:01Speaker 1: of this ship. I wouldn't have made Living Proof. I
- 33:03Speaker 1: wouldn't have made the record with Kaitlin, like you know,
- 33:08Speaker 1: all that came after Selfish, which is like it would
- 33:12Speaker 1: be like I wouldn't call it my favorite, but I
- 33:16Speaker 1: feel like I love that one in a different way
- 33:19Speaker 1: because it means a lot of bird Birthday project out
- 33:23Speaker 1: of the project. Yeah, I mean a lot to me.
- 33:24Speaker 1: We'll read the room is out, Yes, sir, go run
- 33:27Speaker 1: that ship up? Hell yeah? Play that. How many videos
- 33:29Speaker 1: you got in the camp for this? And I dropped three?
- 33:33Speaker 1: I dropped well technically four priority, but I definitely got
- 33:38Speaker 1: some records that are you want to shoot there? It is, man,
- 33:43Speaker 1: it's a few. I appreciate you pulling up. Thanks for
- 33:45Speaker 1: having me, sir, Yes, sir, I want them shoes too.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I got you on me telling me gonna give me some,
- 33:51Speaker 1: and I got the excel for I need. I got
- 33:53Speaker 1: to put them on. He brought me a large because
- 33:57Speaker 1: I've seen him working out right, I mean he was
- 33:58Speaker 1: capping on the Internet. I mean no, I just eat
- 34:02Speaker 1: it like shit, dude. I had pizza all weekend. Oh Jesus,
- 34:06Speaker 1: shout out to my wife's Mexican cooking. It's amazing. Was
- 34:08Speaker 1: she making homemade pieces? No no, no, no no no.
- 34:11Speaker 1: She made me chili kills, three breakfasts in a row,
- 34:13Speaker 1: and memorial of the weekend ship
