- 0:55Speaker 2: talking about Hawks all over again over.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Yeah, big one, little one, to the point where.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I got like a little bit embarrassing, but he just
- 1:02Speaker 2: kept on like like, so tell me about this cock thing.
- 1:06Speaker 2: It just it was on. Well do they not want
- 1:08Speaker 2: us to do that?
- 1:09Speaker 1: Because if I feel like if the university has out
- 1:12Speaker 1: all the time, but if the University of South Carolina
- 1:14Speaker 1: wouldn't want us to do that, they would change it
- 1:15Speaker 1: to the game chickens.
- 1:17Speaker 2: But they're not called game chickens. Regardless. It's up and
- 1:22Speaker 2: our our video today, Too Much Access at the University
- 1:24Speaker 2: South Carolina is up where you can watch Eddie and
- 1:26Speaker 2: I run forties, Eddie and I catch balls. I'm still
- 1:29Speaker 2: hurting from that. By the way, are you still we
- 1:32Speaker 2: did what else we threw? We threw quarterback competition, So
- 1:36Speaker 2: all that's up. Just go over to Too Much Access
- 1:39Speaker 2: Bobby Bones on YouTube and check it out. All right,
- 1:43Speaker 2: let's get it, let's get it. Let's get the tittle
- 1:45Speaker 2: tattle his name.
- 1:48Speaker 8: Ever, the tittle Tattle.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Bobby.
- 1:56Speaker 9: Which AFC division do you think is better overall? The
- 1:58Speaker 9: AFC East with the Bills, Patriots, Jets, and Dolphins, or
- 2:02Speaker 9: the AFC North with the Steelers, Ravens, Browns, and Bengals.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I guess I would look at the stealing first, which
- 2:09Speaker 2: team I think could actually go the farthest, And I
- 2:12Speaker 2: think I would put the Bills slightly over the Bengals slightly,
- 2:16Speaker 2: but I would put the Bills over the Bengals really yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 2: I would go if I were, yeah, Bills as the
- 2:22Speaker 2: one yeah yeah in the AFC East, and then the
- 2:26Speaker 2: Bengals as the one in the AFC North.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Are they are?
- 2:29Speaker 1: They still saying Joe's coming back start a season should be.
- 2:32Speaker 1: They're not saying he's not right. Have you guys heard
- 2:34Speaker 1: he's not?
- 2:35Speaker 7: No?
- 2:35Speaker 2: I haven't either, So then so Bill's over. Bengals might
- 2:40Speaker 2: the second team in each division. I think all four
- 2:46Speaker 2: of those teams in the FC North are going to
- 2:48Speaker 2: be pretty good. Like I do think that the Bengals
- 2:50Speaker 2: are going to be good. The Steelers have a chance.
- 2:52Speaker 2: They played really well second half of the season. Kenny
- 2:55Speaker 2: Pickett's small hands in all small Kenny, yeah, smokingy hants
- 3:01Speaker 2: George Pickens last year rookie was very inconsistent, but man,
- 3:06Speaker 2: real flashes of brilliance, and I think he's that dude
- 3:12Speaker 2: for sure. I think the Ravens are going to be
- 3:14Speaker 2: good with Lamar Jackson healthy getting paid. Obij I think
- 3:20Speaker 2: the Browns are going to be deceived good. I mean,
- 3:23Speaker 2: their quarterback apparently hasn't been getting lot of messages, so
- 3:27Speaker 2: you know he's staying out of trouble and Deshaun Watson
- 3:30Speaker 2: what two thousand and one, maybe his last year he played.
- 3:32Speaker 2: He was a really good quarterback, and so they have
- 3:37Speaker 2: a good So that North is solid. Now if we
- 3:40Speaker 2: just look at the East, the Dolphins, I feel like
- 3:43Speaker 2: the Dolphins are a really good team. Obviously. I just
- 3:47Speaker 2: wonder if Tua gets hit in the head one time,
- 3:51Speaker 2: what is he out six weeks? He had three concussions
- 3:53Speaker 2: last year.
- 3:54Speaker 1: If he gets another one, he's got to stop, right, Like,
- 3:57Speaker 1: those are a lot of concussions to keep going in
- 3:59Speaker 1: the NFL.
- 3:59Speaker 2: I just think you if you're gonna stop after one
- 4:03Speaker 2: more concussion, you should stop before you get that one
- 4:05Speaker 2: more concussion, right, So I don't think if he gets
- 4:09Speaker 2: one more concussion, he stops. He may be out for
- 4:11Speaker 2: a while. But I don't think you're retired unless it's
- 4:13Speaker 2: a bad one, because if you're like, Okay, one more
- 4:15Speaker 2: concussion and I'm retiring, you don't go through all this
- 4:17Speaker 2: because eventually you're gonna get another concussion. It's just that's
- 4:20Speaker 2: the nature of this game. So I agree with you,
- 4:24Speaker 2: But I also probably wouldn't have walked away either, your dream,
- 4:26Speaker 2: your whole life. Millions of dollars had to be there.
- 4:29Speaker 2: You're in Miami. So I think the Dolphins are going
- 4:32Speaker 2: to be good. But Waddle and Tyreek Hill they're good.
- 4:37Speaker 2: So the Dolphins are good, The Patriots have a chance
- 4:40Speaker 2: to be pretty good. And the Jets, I think their
- 4:45Speaker 2: ceiling is winning the division. I think their floor is
- 4:47Speaker 2: being fourth overall because we just don't know one what
- 4:51Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers is gonna do for and to that team
- 4:54Speaker 2: and to a that offensive line can have some sort
- 4:57Speaker 2: of consistency. I mean, they've had such consistent people even
- 5:01Speaker 2: starting much less the ones that start consistently performing well.
- 5:04Speaker 2: So as the Bills are the number one team, I
- 5:08Speaker 2: think the AFC North overall is the better division. So
- 5:12Speaker 2: it would have been hard to overtake the Bills in
- 5:14Speaker 2: that division, but they did because the other three teams
- 5:16Speaker 2: are better than the other three teams, So I would
- 5:18Speaker 2: go AFC North anyway, think about that.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I think it's interesting that you still have questions about
- 5:21Speaker 1: the Jets. I mean, I think that they're going to
- 5:23Speaker 1: be Oh, I think.
- 5:24Speaker 2: They're gonna be good, but I have so questions their
- 5:26Speaker 2: offensive line sucks. Yeah, I know, Aaron Rodgers has never
- 5:28Speaker 2: had an offensive line ever in the history of him.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Playing that has been this this I want bad but
- 5:33Speaker 2: has been based on data, this incompetent as an offensive line.
- 5:39Speaker 1: It's just like with Dalvin Cook back there and the
- 5:41Speaker 1: changes they're making, and it seems like, and again I'm
- 5:43Speaker 1: not going to fall for you know, dumb well you
- 5:46Speaker 1: know you follow you are falling for it hard knocks.
- 5:48Speaker 1: But when you get an inside look of how a
- 5:52Speaker 1: team is, you know, psychologically, it seems like they're really
- 5:57Speaker 1: got it. They got it together, really like that head
- 5:59Speaker 1: coach and the I think it's the defensive coordinator and
- 6:02Speaker 1: all of them just kind of seem like they've got
- 6:04Speaker 1: it together. And then the fact that they have Aaron
- 6:06Speaker 1: Rodgers there, they're like, guys, this is our dude. And
- 6:09Speaker 1: just to see how impressed they are by Aaron Rodgers impressed,
- 6:11Speaker 1: don't block defensive lineman.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I'm rooted for the Jets. I think they're going to
- 6:16Speaker 2: be good. But the floor is just utter failure because
- 6:20Speaker 2: Rogers doesn't have time to throw. I think I think
- 6:23Speaker 2: the is it the East?
- 6:24Speaker 1: So he says the I think they're so strong, you
- 6:27Speaker 1: think the Patriots, Well, well they got Zeke now yeah, man, okay,
- 6:31Speaker 1: oh absolutely, We're not biased at all, we're not bias
- 6:34Speaker 1: at all. If Zeke comes from America's team to another
- 6:37Speaker 1: America's team, the Patriots, this is going to be a.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Real America's team, the two hated teams. So again the
- 6:44Speaker 2: AFC North. Any of those four teams could win that division.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Any of those four teams can make the super Bowl.
- 6:50Speaker 2: The Browns would be the one that I would say
- 6:52Speaker 2: is the biggest long shot. But the Browns have the personnel.
- 6:58Speaker 2: And when you go over to the AFC East with
- 7:00Speaker 2: the Dolphins and Jets and Patriots and Bills, the only
- 7:02Speaker 2: team I can really see making the super Bowl there
- 7:04Speaker 2: would be the Bills with an outside shot of the
- 7:08Speaker 2: Dolphins or very outside shot of the Jets. If Rogers
- 7:12Speaker 2: is good, I can't see the Patriots making it this year.
- 7:14Speaker 2: New offensive coordinator, even though he isn't are a dog
- 7:18Speaker 2: mm hmm, So it's I'm still going with the AFC North.
- 7:21Speaker 2: He's a what a dog?
- 7:22Speaker 3: What does that mean?
- 7:24Speaker 2: He's good?
- 7:25Speaker 5: Oh? That's what you say?
- 7:26Speaker 7: It was hard good?
- 7:27Speaker 2: He goes hard.
- 7:29Speaker 9: All right, go ahead, we all remember the hype of
- 7:31Speaker 9: the Broncos last year and their disappointment. Which team do
- 7:34Speaker 9: you think will be the Broncos of twenty twenty three.
- 7:38Speaker 1: So hype and disappointment, that's all we're looking for. So
- 7:45Speaker 1: what teams are hyped?
- 7:46Speaker 2: The Chiefs.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Chiefs are always hyped, but they're hyped or they just
- 7:50Speaker 1: talked about appropriately since they would win the Super Bowl.
- 7:52Speaker 4: Yeah, they got the best player on the planet.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so Chiefs are highed, Bills are hyped, Eagles are hyped.
- 7:58Speaker 2: You could go through the teams that win. Bengals are high,
- 8:00Speaker 2: the Jets have some hype because of Aaron Rodgers. The
- 8:03Speaker 2: Giants have some hype because of uh Dabele and Jones
- 8:07Speaker 2: and getting the one year deal and they performed better
- 8:11Speaker 2: last year, and you know, Daniel Jones his second year
- 8:15Speaker 2: apparently making huge strides. Oh it's tough, Like who is
- 8:19Speaker 2: expected to be good?
- 8:22Speaker 1: I mean you don't want to put the Cowboys on
- 8:23Speaker 1: there because I mean they actually but hold on for
- 8:27Speaker 1: one So that's just the fans for once, though, the people,
- 8:30Speaker 1: like the critics. TV is actually saying that the Cowboys
- 8:34Speaker 1: may actually be good this year, which is weird.
- 8:36Speaker 2: But that division is really good too, because I think
- 8:38Speaker 2: Commanders are going to be pretty good. Yeah, yeah, at
- 8:39Speaker 2: least not as terrible as they were. Ye, I'm gonna
- 8:43Speaker 2: go with the Jets only because and I believe the
- 8:45Speaker 2: Jets will win some games. They go win ten games.
- 8:46Speaker 2: But I think the Jets had the biggest chance of
- 8:48Speaker 2: one of the teams that people are expecting to win,
- 8:49Speaker 2: not to win.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Man, I just agree with you.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I think they're going to be so good. I think
- 8:54Speaker 2: they're gonna be good too. I hope they're good. I
- 8:55Speaker 2: want them to win. I like Aaron.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Rodgers, but like the Broncos last year, they're in a
- 8:59Speaker 4: tough division. That doesn't help it.
- 9:01Speaker 2: It's like the Chargers, right, everybody's like they look at
- 9:04Speaker 2: the Chargers. I heard were getting hurt and then who
- 9:06Speaker 2: do they have to play all the time? Yeah, the
- 9:07Speaker 2: freaking Chiefs. I mean, look at their DIVI that it's
- 9:10Speaker 2: a lot to do with it. Mm hmm.
- 9:11Speaker 1: What about the Broncos though, Like, what about them? Are
- 9:13Speaker 1: they going to be better this ya?
- 9:14Speaker 2: No? I expect nothing from them, kay, really, I mean
- 9:17Speaker 2: you can't be worse.
- 9:18Speaker 5: Just watch you know?
- 9:19Speaker 2: They still look completely incompetent in preseason.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Yeah, it's true.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I did think, Okay, RUSS could come back win nine
- 9:26Speaker 2: to ten games. Sean Payton, you know they just don't.
- 9:29Speaker 2: But I've seen nothing to make me feel differently better
- 9:32Speaker 2: than five hundred.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Probably around five hundred. Okay, they'll probably figured out little
- 9:36Speaker 1: later in this season, all right.
- 9:37Speaker 9: Next up opposite of the Broncos. Last year, the Seahawks
- 9:40Speaker 9: stunned everyone. So who do you think will be the
- 9:41Speaker 9: Seahawks of twenty twenty three.
- 9:45Speaker 2: The Steelers didn't make it last year, but they were
- 9:47Speaker 2: awfully close, and Tom's never had a losing record as
- 9:52Speaker 2: a Steelers coach. The Steelers would be my pick, if
- 9:55Speaker 2: that even counts. But I think people will kind of
- 9:57Speaker 2: expect the Steelers to be at least as good as
- 9:59Speaker 2: they were second after the U last year. Again, they
- 10:01Speaker 2: played a tough division, but the Steelers are that. I
- 10:05Speaker 2: think the Browns have a really good shot of that
- 10:07Speaker 2: because again, they have the personnel. If you have a
- 10:09Speaker 2: really good quarterback, if Deshaun Watson plays as good as
- 10:11Speaker 2: he's getting paid to play, then they're gonna be good.
- 10:15Speaker 2: They got Amari Cooper, they got they got a really
- 10:20Speaker 2: good running game. So but then I look also at
- 10:24Speaker 2: the freaking Saints. Nobody expects the Saints to be good.
- 10:29Speaker 2: They play in a terrible division, and I think car
- 10:31Speaker 2: is a better quarterback than people give him credit for
- 10:33Speaker 2: because he played in an organization that sucked, which was
- 10:35Speaker 2: the Raiders. So Steelers and Saints would be the teams
- 10:39Speaker 2: that I think could do that. I think Steelers is
- 10:41Speaker 2: kind of a compaut answer because I think people expect
- 10:42Speaker 2: the Steelers woul be good. They almost made it last year.
- 10:44Speaker 2: So then I'm gonna go with the Saints because they
- 10:46Speaker 2: did not almost make it and the Saints are terrible.
- 10:48Speaker 2: That whole division is terrible and a mixture of the two,
- 10:51Speaker 2: and Michael Thomas he's healthy, yeah, and David Carr. I
- 10:55Speaker 2: feel like that the Saints could actually make the playoffs
- 10:57Speaker 2: and just win that division. It got Tampa, Yeah, Baker Mayfield,
- 11:01Speaker 2: a big Baker Mayfall got I think of going defeated.
- 11:02Speaker 2: But let's say let's say they don't Tampa Carolina. Carolina's
- 11:08Speaker 2: not gonna be any good, not this year. No, no, no,
- 11:11Speaker 2: but a rookie quarterback. So New Orleans? Who am I
- 11:17Speaker 2: forgetting the division? Atlanta? The Falcons? The Falcons. The Falcons
- 11:20Speaker 2: could be okay, I mean, do you believe it? Desn't Ridder,
- 11:23Speaker 2: I don't know. I believe in Bijon I mean, yes,
- 11:29Speaker 2: but I don't think they can carry the whole team. I
- 11:30Speaker 2: don't think he can, so I'm gonna go I'm gonna
- 11:31Speaker 2: go with Saints my answer. Okay, next up, last one here.
- 11:34Speaker 9: If you're playing in the NFL right now, which head
- 11:36Speaker 9: coach would you like to play for most and which
- 11:38Speaker 9: head coach would you like to play for least most?
- 11:42Speaker 2: Probably Andy Reid because I know if I'm a quarter
- 11:44Speaker 2: or Shanahan. I know if I'm a quarterback or a
- 11:48Speaker 2: running back, wide receiver, skill posion player, I'm about to
- 11:50Speaker 2: be a All Pro if I start Andy Reid just schemes.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Andy Reid's awesome and he seems pretty chill. So I'll
- 11:58Speaker 2: probably go Andy Reid the one I want to play
- 12:00Speaker 2: for the least. I'm not gonna say Belichick because I
- 12:04Speaker 2: understand why Belichick is way Belichick is any championships, I'm
- 12:08Speaker 2: gonna go with. But he's also not the head coach anymore.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Maybe like Arthur Smith.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I like Arthur Smith. Orm's football guy. But so okay,
- 12:18Speaker 2: so let's go to New England Offensive cord end of
- 12:20Speaker 2: this year again?
- 12:21Speaker 4: Is Bill O'Brien right?
- 12:22Speaker 2: So Bill o brian was with Sabin Bill O'Brien was
- 12:25Speaker 2: with the Houston Texans. He was even like the GM
- 12:27Speaker 2: for a while of the tech right, wasn't he like
- 12:29Speaker 2: that GM slash coach.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Very Belichick of him?
- 12:33Speaker 2: So I think I would I would like being in
- 12:36Speaker 2: that offense. I'm trying to talk to myself out of
- 12:38Speaker 2: picking Belichick. What about the Raiders? Okay, Josh, just me, Dane.
- 12:43Speaker 2: I don't want to play for him.
- 12:43Speaker 5: There you go.
- 12:44Speaker 2: He seems like a total douche. And when I hear
- 12:46Speaker 2: players talk about playing for him back in the day,
- 12:48Speaker 2: they hate him.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Yeah, except for Brady.
- 12:53Speaker 1: But Brady was to no, but Brady was told him
- 12:57Speaker 1: what to do. That's the difference. Yeah, No one told
- 12:59Speaker 1: Brad any of what to do, right.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I like to play with I like to work people too,
- 13:02Speaker 2: let me walk all over which I had people on
- 13:04Speaker 2: the show like that, but I don't.
- 13:08Speaker 1: So that's funny. I would have gone with Belichick. I
- 13:09Speaker 1: would have wanted to play with for Belichick, because what
- 13:13Speaker 1: one is so good?
- 13:13Speaker 5: You want?
- 13:14Speaker 8: No?
- 13:14Speaker 2: I said, I no, no, no, I say you don't.
- 13:16Speaker 8: No, no, no.
- 13:17Speaker 2: I was gonna pick Belichick as they don't. But then
- 13:19Speaker 2: I'm like, no, I think I would be okay, with it,
- 13:21Speaker 2: and then I tried to convince myself because obviously I
- 13:22Speaker 2: play offense and Bill O'Brien's offensive coordinate. Obvious obvious eventually
- 13:28Speaker 2: got there. So yeah, yeah, I was working it out
- 13:30Speaker 2: in my head, so I was showing you guys my
- 13:31Speaker 2: work got I got it. So I'm going yes, Josh McDaniels, no,
- 13:36Speaker 2: Andy Reid, Yes, all right, that's the tittle tittle, thank you. Okay,
- 13:47Speaker 2: just a reminder of the twenty five whistles percented by
- 13:49Speaker 2: Draft Kings sports Book, an official sports betting partner of
- 13:51Speaker 2: college football. Download the DraftKings app used to code Bobby
- 13:53Speaker 2: Sports to get in on the action. Here's what we're doing, friends,
- 13:57Speaker 2: We're knocking this thing out. Brace yourself for a four
- 14:02Speaker 2: game parlay, four game parlay. We're going harbor with the
- 14:05Speaker 2: four game parlay, a four a game parlay. We're going
- 14:08Speaker 2: harbor the four game parlay before a game parlay. We're
- 14:10Speaker 2: going harbor the four game parlayfore a game parlay. Here
- 14:13Speaker 2: we go. We're going all money lines. Tennessee against Virginia
- 14:22Speaker 2: in Knoxville. Take that one. A is a win up Nashville.
- 14:26Speaker 2: They're playing here.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Yeah, they played in Eastsan stadium.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I didn't know that. Yeah, should we all go pass?
- 14:33Speaker 5: That was quick?
- 14:34Speaker 2: That was quick. South Carolina is the underdog against North Carolina.
- 14:39Speaker 2: They are playing in Colombia. This doesn't have anything to
- 14:42Speaker 2: do with us just being there. Yep, okay, we're going
- 14:46Speaker 2: with South Carolina money line. When the LSU Florida State
- 14:52Speaker 2: game is a good one. You're talking about two top
- 14:56Speaker 2: ten teams they played last year. Was the head of
- 14:59Speaker 2: a game Florida State put it on him last year though?
- 15:03Speaker 2: If it's a field goal at the end of the game, yeah, yeah.
- 15:06Speaker 2: I remember watching it and being like, oh, no, LSU sucks,
- 15:08Speaker 2: and then they got really good.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Yes, and then we realized both teams are actually pretty good.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Yeah, we thought both teams sucked. Thought then we realized
- 15:14Speaker 1: they were both pretty good.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Are we going Tigers here?
- 15:16Speaker 1: We're going LSU for the win? And then Washington over
- 15:21Speaker 1: Boise State. Well, that's a random. It's a good game,
- 15:28Speaker 1: just a random.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Those are your four right there? You like it? Good
- 15:32Speaker 2: payout on that? Probably? Yeah, I didn't. I didn't type
- 15:34Speaker 2: it in. Don't worry about it. I'm sure it's pretty
- 15:36Speaker 2: good with that.
- 15:37Speaker 1: With that undidog four game, parlay, four game parlay, four
- 15:40Speaker 1: game parlay.
- 15:42Speaker 2: If you take twenty eve whistles parlay. You can check
- 15:44Speaker 2: it out on Drafting Sportsbook. New users use to code
- 15:46Speaker 2: Bobby Sports when you download the app twenty one and
- 15:48Speaker 2: up in most eligible states, but age varies by jurisdiction,
- 15:51Speaker 2: Eligibility and deposit restrictions apply. Gambling problem called one hundred
- 15:54Speaker 2: Gambler New York called eight seven seven eight Hope and
- 15:56Speaker 2: why Protect Hope and y four six seven three six ' nine.
- 15:59Speaker 2: See show notes for full details. Now we went to Columbia.
- 16:06Speaker 2: South Carolina has nothing to do with why I picked
- 16:08Speaker 2: him exact. I think South Carolina is good. Oh yeah,
- 16:12Speaker 2: they got some offensive line questions like the Jets, but
- 16:15Speaker 2: I feel like they can actually fix their offensive line.
- 16:17Speaker 1: And we saw their weight room. That's right. There was
- 16:19Speaker 1: nobody lifting there.
- 16:21Speaker 7: No one.
- 16:21Speaker 1: There was this one guy thinking about lifting. Yeah, he
- 16:23Speaker 1: wasn't even lifted anyway.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Well, there was a guy that was like passed out
- 16:25Speaker 4: on the floor, remember that.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Yeah, he had lifted too hard. Yes, So our arrival
- 16:30Speaker 2: at Columbia, we got to our rental. We just started
- 16:32Speaker 2: recording because we were going to do our too much
- 16:35Speaker 2: Access show, which is up the video version of this,
- 16:37Speaker 2: and so you're gonna hear us get there, arrive and
- 16:39Speaker 2: talk after the ride. You're here, Eddie and I talk
- 16:42Speaker 2: with Coach Beamer. Some things about Coach Beamer. He's the
- 16:45Speaker 2: son of former legendary of Virginia Tech coach and Hall
- 16:47Speaker 2: of Famer Frank Beamer. He was a walk on wide
- 16:49Speaker 2: receiver at Virginia Tech before becoming a long snapper. You
- 16:51Speaker 2: can follow Coach Beamer on Twitter at coach S Beamer.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Here he is Coach Shane Beemer. We are in a
- 16:59Speaker 2: black SUV in Columbia, South Carolina.
- 17:03Speaker 8: We had just got off the plane.
- 17:04Speaker 2: We're gonna go interview the head coach and the running
- 17:08Speaker 2: back for the South Carolina game Cocks, which fun fact,
- 17:12Speaker 2: in ninth grade, they had the coolest hat.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Trying to think of what that little cox. Oh, it
- 17:18Speaker 1: just said Cox. I remember that one, and I.
- 17:20Speaker 8: Was like, that's hilarious. I remember that, But I still
- 17:22Speaker 8: didn't have.
- 17:24Speaker 3: The guts to wear it.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Yeah, because people at church would get mad, I thought.
- 17:27Speaker 2: But I still thought it was so cool, So I'd
- 17:30Speaker 2: go to the mall. We had one store of that hats.
- 17:32Speaker 2: All the athletic cats. I had all the nickname team hats,
- 17:34Speaker 2: so it was always like the funny word you could
- 17:37Speaker 2: find within the team.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Yeah, so if it.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Was like Albuquerque, it'd be like Kirk the Kirk or
- 17:43Speaker 2: the Cocks or et cetera. So anyway, we're going here
- 17:47Speaker 2: and I don't.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Know, we got a rental cart.
- 17:49Speaker 8: You know how much ront caoll.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Costs for one day?
- 17:51Speaker 3: Probably two hundred bucks.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Well, so I thought according to the Internet it was
- 17:55Speaker 2: like fifty bucks something like that.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's like the smallest, smallest part you can.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Get, Okay, So I go and we just needed suv
- 18:03Speaker 2: because we literally landed at two forty. We're gonna be
- 18:08Speaker 2: here for three four hours and we're gonna leaven go
- 18:10Speaker 2: back home. So I thought a rental car, that's even
- 18:12Speaker 2: a whole day. It's I call it a nine hundred
- 18:14Speaker 2: number back in the day, like talk to your favorite
- 18:16Speaker 2: baseball player, And it was a dollar ninety nine the
- 18:18Speaker 2: first minute and ninety nine cent east additional. So I
- 18:20Speaker 2: would just hang out before the first minute was over,
- 18:22Speaker 2: but I would only get charged the one ninety nine
- 18:24Speaker 2: every time.
- 18:24Speaker 6: So smart when was that?
- 18:26Speaker 8: Well, I thought I would get note.
- 18:27Speaker 3: What do you mean he doesn't know about nine hundred numbers.
- 18:29Speaker 8: No, that's a whole different podcast.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Kevin.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Okay, so I thought it's only four hours. I won't
- 18:33Speaker 2: even get a full day charge for an SUV for
- 18:36Speaker 2: us five. But because it's me, Eddie, Kevin, Mike de
- 18:39Speaker 2: and Red, three hundred and forty bucks.
- 18:43Speaker 6: What that is crazy?
- 18:45Speaker 1: I don't know if it's because we're in Columbia and
- 18:49Speaker 1: they have to bring us one from somewhere else, but
- 18:51Speaker 1: it was three hundred and forty dollars for this suv.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Oh my, do you know how mad I would be
- 18:56Speaker 1: if this was a family vacation. I'd be so upset,
- 18:59Speaker 1: But you would know, like I knew that I had
- 19:00Speaker 1: to okay that for us to oh, and I have
- 19:03Speaker 1: to pay for it. The company's not paying for it.
- 19:06Speaker 1: I pay for all the stuff that we do. So
- 19:09Speaker 1: but that's what this suv is. A three hundred and
- 19:11Speaker 1: forty dollars suv.
- 19:12Speaker 3: That is just crazy.
- 19:13Speaker 1: And it's also just a no. I mean, it's just normal.
- 19:15Speaker 1: It's not like it's super nice as ev It's fine.
- 19:18Speaker 1: We just needed to have to put gear in. So hey, well, hey,
- 19:21Speaker 1: well you know what in case nobody tells you bones,
- 19:23Speaker 1: thank you thank.
- 19:23Speaker 3: You for getting that.
- 19:24Speaker 8: No, no, I don't need to be thanked.
- 19:26Speaker 3: We thank you for getting the suv man, it's very nice.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Secondly, i'd like to say a couple of things. As
- 19:31Speaker 2: we're going to the campus of the University of South
- 19:34Speaker 2: Carolina Game Cox Cox, we are going to do not
- 19:39Speaker 2: only interviews for this.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Podcast twenty five Whistles, we also do a show that
- 19:44Speaker 1: Red shoots called too Much Access.
- 19:47Speaker 8: I think you read had a seizure when he heard
- 19:49Speaker 8: his name back there.
- 19:50Speaker 1: You like somebody in the crowd when you say a state,
- 19:52Speaker 1: they go like, I just literally said the word.
- 19:55Speaker 8: I didn't say anything about I like it.
- 19:57Speaker 2: So we're going to shoot the show, and part of
- 20:02Speaker 2: the show is us doing something athletic football, running, jumping.
- 20:10Speaker 2: It's to highlight their abilities and our lack of. So
- 20:13Speaker 2: I text Eddie last night at ten o'clock PM. Here
- 20:15Speaker 2: we go, and I say, hey, man.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Don't forget to bring shorts and some shoes because we're
- 20:21Speaker 1: going to be running on the field.
- 20:23Speaker 8: I text them at ten pm. Now between ten pm.
- 20:26Speaker 3: I went to bed at nine thirty.
- 20:28Speaker 8: Okay, but you woke up and you had to go
- 20:30Speaker 8: to work.
- 20:30Speaker 1: And that's weird because I never looked at your phone.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I look at my phone, and there's usually a notification
- 20:35Speaker 1: that says like, miss you look at your text now,
- 20:37Speaker 1: I don't open my phone up if I don't need
- 20:39Speaker 1: to know, like it'll say he mixed text. This is
- 20:42Speaker 1: like somebody says I didn't get that text. That just
- 20:45Speaker 1: doesn't happen.
- 20:45Speaker 3: I didn't get it till I got to work, which
- 20:47Speaker 3: is already too late.
- 20:48Speaker 1: It's unbelievable that I text Eddie at night and say, hey,
- 20:50Speaker 1: even if you're asleep, you'll see this in the morning.
- 20:52Speaker 8: Bring your clothes, Mike your thoughts. Yeah, you could have
- 20:55Speaker 8: looked at his phone. Well, no correction, we're all flying
- 20:58Speaker 8: out of town. Yeah, everything was kind of like in
- 21:02Speaker 8: motion happening.
- 21:03Speaker 2: You should have checked the phone, and it was like
- 21:04Speaker 2: all quick too write where Like we decided quickly, let's go.
- 21:07Speaker 8: We're going to South Carolina. We gotta get back at night.
- 21:09Speaker 8: Guy coach Beamber lined up.
- 21:11Speaker 6: Boom boom boom.
- 21:13Speaker 8: Eddie shows up on a tuxedo.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Well, I have a solution. If there's a gift shop,
- 21:16Speaker 3: I can just buy shorts there.
- 21:17Speaker 1: You could buy shorts there. Also, do we feel like
- 21:22Speaker 1: they're gonna put us in their own clothes.
- 21:24Speaker 8: Maybe we do have a bit running that we're gonna
- 21:26Speaker 8: steal somethings.
- 21:27Speaker 6: So maybe the thing that Eddie steals is a pair
- 21:28Speaker 6: of shorts.
- 21:29Speaker 3: That's not a bad idea.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I did think about they have they won a national championship. No,
- 21:33Speaker 1: but you have to find shorts to steal that have
- 21:36Speaker 1: won your size. And then two, you don't want to
- 21:38Speaker 1: steal it from the store, you'll go to jail. Yeah,
- 21:40Speaker 1: and you're saying that probably players are just not my size.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I'm just saying you don't need to steal a player
- 21:46Speaker 1: at college kid shorts.
- 21:48Speaker 6: It's kind of weird.
- 21:49Speaker 1: They'll never know, but you're right. They get showered with stuff. Man,
- 21:53Speaker 1: what sort of But when we went to UCF, they
- 21:57Speaker 1: gave us clothes.
- 21:59Speaker 8: Yeah, but you can't say like, oh, the thanks for
- 22:00Speaker 8: the hat, that's really cool.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Can I have some shorts.
- 22:03Speaker 1: We did put the request in for some clothes, so
- 22:05Speaker 1: you may be in luck there would go yeah, yeah,
- 22:08Speaker 1: And it was a gentle request because we don't want
- 22:10Speaker 1: to be like we're coming give us all your clothes.
- 22:12Speaker 1: But we said, hey, other schools have wanted us to
- 22:15Speaker 1: wear their gear, so if you have, someone'll wear it.
- 22:18Speaker 1: That's genius, meaning we'd love to have free stuff. Akay,
- 22:23Speaker 1: we've never gotten too good for free stuff. Do you
- 22:25Speaker 1: think we'll ever be able to go full pads in
- 22:27Speaker 1: one of these Like, yeah, if we want to, I mean,
- 22:31Speaker 1: we have to really push for it, and we got
- 22:32Speaker 1: to have a coach that we have a relationship with.
- 22:35Speaker 10: What drill would you run though, Oklahoma? Mean against Baba? No,
- 22:39Speaker 10: we would die. I don't want to hit anything you
- 22:42Speaker 10: against me? I think I'm running back your linebacker. Well,
- 22:45Speaker 10: first of all, I kill you, That's.
- 22:47Speaker 3: What I'm saying. See, that's why we need to do this.
- 22:50Speaker 8: First of all, even if I killed you, I'd be hurt. Well,
- 22:53Speaker 8: we like the best case scenario is I wipe you
- 22:54Speaker 8: out the floor, but I'm still hurt.
- 22:56Speaker 3: Right, we're both going to hurt ourselves.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I think like hitting a sled, we can put pads
- 23:02Speaker 1: on a hit a sled like just pushing it.
- 23:04Speaker 3: That's boring.
- 23:04Speaker 1: No, okay, sorry, you didn't play football a high level
- 23:07Speaker 1: like myself.
- 23:09Speaker 3: You mean the one that you like hit like the
- 23:11Speaker 3: dummy hit.
- 23:12Speaker 6: Sled on a sled.
- 23:14Speaker 8: Okay, the same sled that we would push would also hit.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Yeah, they have different things now, yes, but you can
- 23:19Speaker 3: do back mountain.
- 23:21Speaker 8: They probably there was the sled for different We had
- 23:23Speaker 8: single sleds.
- 23:23Speaker 1: We had sleds, and sometimes you would just come off
- 23:26Speaker 1: the ball, fire off the ball, hit, hit back down
- 23:29Speaker 1: right wen, yeah.
- 23:30Speaker 6: And then you can do the hit and roll and
- 23:31Speaker 6: then hit.
- 23:31Speaker 3: All five hit Oh yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:34Speaker 1: What's the one where you like the tunnel you run
- 23:36Speaker 1: through with a bunch of like foamy spikes. What that's
- 23:40Speaker 1: called a phone party? And they used to have that
- 23:43Speaker 1: phone party at college. They put phone on the gun
- 23:45Speaker 1: on the dance floor right now. No, that's not what
- 23:46Speaker 1: I'm talking about. You know what I'm talking about. It
- 23:48Speaker 1: it's like a it's like a ton of it's like
- 23:49Speaker 1: they have a it looks like a wash.
- 23:53Speaker 3: It looks like a car wash.
- 23:54Speaker 8: And it's supposed to like poke you where the ball
- 23:55Speaker 8: is so you fumble it. Oh, that is a sex machine.
- 24:01Speaker 6: That is a fantasy of yours.
- 24:02Speaker 3: You know what. I was confused? You're right, it is.
- 24:04Speaker 8: That is dirty?
- 24:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, wrong place poking.
- 24:09Speaker 2: So yeah, we're packed five deep here in South Carolina.
- 24:11Speaker 2: We're ten minutes away.
- 24:13Speaker 8: We landed.
- 24:13Speaker 2: The airport is about fifteen minutes from the facility. We're
- 24:17Speaker 2: going to get there right on time. You gotta love
- 24:20Speaker 2: that it looks as it right now. We're going to
- 24:21Speaker 2: arrivee at two fifty for a three pm arrival. Eddie
- 24:24Speaker 2: asked me before he went in. He said, Hey, do
- 24:25Speaker 2: we still have the thing where I asked the dumb question?
- 24:28Speaker 2: And I said, damn, you asked dumb questions. I mean
- 24:30Speaker 2: people would consider those dumb questions. Well, I guess my
- 24:33Speaker 2: thought was for you. I didn't think they were dumb.
- 24:35Speaker 2: I thought they were just normal questions for you.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Well they are because I always come from a parent
- 24:39Speaker 1: perspective because I have kids in sports, so I always
- 24:41Speaker 1: want to bring it. I have legit questions about stuff
- 24:44Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, but it's not always like that. But
- 24:47Speaker 1: I don't think it's all like parent baby.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Yeah, well it is. When I watch my kids practice, I'm.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Like, what'd you ask the Panthers? What'd you ask Bryce Young?
- 24:53Speaker 1: I asked Bryce Young about money exactly. That's what being
- 24:56Speaker 1: a parent right about. I would draft night, and you
- 24:59Speaker 1: know he was there with his family, so I was
- 25:00Speaker 1: thinking about that.
- 25:01Speaker 8: I'm trying to act like all responsible dad.
- 25:03Speaker 1: It's like, how much money do you make?
- 25:05Speaker 8: Kevin your thoughts as we head to the campus.
- 25:07Speaker 6: I'm excited. This is my first one.
- 25:08Speaker 9: You guys have done the panthers and you see f
- 25:11Speaker 9: so I'm ready to see what the cocks got for us.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Okay, okay, Hey, do they have a chicken mascot? Like
- 25:17Speaker 1: a real one like Arkansas has the pig?
- 25:20Speaker 3: Right? We have a bore a tusk?
- 25:22Speaker 6: Tusk? Yeah?
- 25:23Speaker 8: Do they have a cock like a literal cock?
- 25:25Speaker 3: Yes? I don't know.
- 25:26Speaker 8: When we get there, your question, Hey, so where's your cock?
- 25:28Speaker 8: You gotta I bet you they hear that all the time.
- 25:30Speaker 3: I can't.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I'm not going to say cock. I don't even want
- 25:33Speaker 1: to say cock. I feel a by the time the birds.
- 25:36Speaker 3: It doesn't matter.
- 25:37Speaker 9: You said it quite a bit in the least ten
- 25:38Speaker 9: seconds though, for a guy being uncomfortable saying it.
- 25:41Speaker 8: Yeah, I had to call it a chicken. I don't
- 25:43Speaker 8: know if they have a chicken?
- 25:44Speaker 6: Help me they do?
- 25:45Speaker 3: And is there a difference between a chicken and a cock?
- 25:48Speaker 8: I think a rooster.
- 25:49Speaker 3: I can't do that a rooster. A rooster is a cock.
- 25:53Speaker 8: A chicken is not a cock. A rooster is a
- 25:55Speaker 8: game cock, I believe.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Okay, so do they have a rooster is a question.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Well, we're about to find out, and we're not even
- 26:02Speaker 2: putting the interview after this. This was just us kind
- 26:05Speaker 2: of describing what we're doing here. I don't know if
- 26:06Speaker 2: we're gonna put the interview after this or not.
- 26:07Speaker 3: But bones do you do research?
- 26:09Speaker 1: Like how much research do you do going into these things?
- 26:13Speaker 3: It's an interesting question. Thank you, Thanks for asking, no problem.
- 26:17Speaker 3: It seems like a come from a parent. See I
- 26:19Speaker 3: thought I'm saying, man.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Uh yeah, I mean I do like macro notes, read
- 26:26Speaker 2: all the stuff about the Pete Like you know, he
- 26:28Speaker 2: goes to Choklahoma for a while. He was on the
- 26:30Speaker 2: offensive staff there, so I know all about Beamer. I
- 26:34Speaker 2: know about this kid that we're talking to. This is
- 26:36Speaker 2: running back. Who is I think.
- 26:37Speaker 1: He's six to one, like one n five now, but
- 26:41Speaker 1: he's played quarterback, receiver and running back.
- 26:43Speaker 3: So this his first year as a running back. Huh,
- 26:45Speaker 3: I believe.
- 26:46Speaker 6: So, Kevin, Yeah, full time running back. Yeah, that's crazy.
- 26:48Speaker 1: So when you ask, I just I guess I wasn't
- 26:50Speaker 1: for research. It's just so I could know about them, yeah,
- 26:53Speaker 1: and know who I'm talking to.
- 26:55Speaker 2: And then Kevin will do some other notes and he'll
- 26:57Speaker 2: send those and I'll read over those and then we'll
- 26:59Speaker 2: kind of be ready to go.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Okay, i'd like to look at those notes. There you go,
- 27:03Speaker 3: because I'm out. I don't do research.
- 27:05Speaker 8: Yeah, but no, no, no, you don't show our research.
- 27:08Speaker 1: If they had a cock, chicken, that your role should
- 27:11Speaker 1: be not doing research and just showing up and having fun.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Okay, I could do that.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Yeah, easy, Okay, I think that's it. Everybody good. Yeah, man,
- 27:20Speaker 2: we're going hold on red do that thing where you yell.
- 27:25Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 27:28Speaker 8: All right from South Carolina.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Thank you guys, goodbye, coach. First, thanks for having us today.
- 27:35Speaker 1: We really appreciate it absolutely.
- 27:37Speaker 2: My first question, I'm gonna let Eddie ask, because he's
- 27:39Speaker 2: been bothering us about this for like two hours, ask it, do.
- 27:43Speaker 1: You guys, and don't get offended, coach, because I don't
- 27:45Speaker 1: know the real terminology, But do you guys have a
- 27:47Speaker 1: chicken mascot? Like he means a little hand a real cock.
- 27:52Speaker 3: I have trouble saying the word cock. That's why I
- 27:54Speaker 3: keep calling a chicken.
- 27:55Speaker 1: But if we're gonna cock it, we'll play.
- 27:56Speaker 3: We'll say cock.
- 27:57Speaker 7: We do, sir, big spur. I'll have to show you
- 27:59Speaker 7: before you leave.
- 28:00Speaker 1: The same one. It's the literal. Yeah, because we have
- 28:02Speaker 1: a bore L s U as a tiger. There's a
- 28:05Speaker 1: there's one.
- 28:06Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Does a family raise it like BiVO? I know the
- 28:09Speaker 1: people that have Bibo.
- 28:10Speaker 7: Yeah, it's one family that has it. They bring him
- 28:12Speaker 7: to all the games. He'll be on the sidelines. I've
- 28:14Speaker 7: got a video on my phone. He's like, he'll he'll
- 28:16Speaker 7: come in this facility every once in a while. Uh
- 28:19Speaker 7: so I've got a video on my phone. I've got
- 28:20Speaker 7: a picture on my phone and me's sitting right there
- 28:22Speaker 7: on that couch holding it. And then my first year here,
- 28:25Speaker 7: we had he was just hanging out in the building
- 28:27Speaker 7: one day. You could just you know, hear him do
- 28:29Speaker 7: his cocka doodle do or whatever it is.
- 28:32Speaker 1: As well, how do they pick the mascot?
- 28:35Speaker 7: That is a good question.
- 28:36Speaker 1: That is like and is it like every five, six seven?
- 28:39Speaker 2: Do it?
- 28:39Speaker 1: Do we know? Because the Georgia bulldog, that's whole ceremony, Bevo, Yeah,
- 28:43Speaker 1: there's a whole ceremony.
- 28:44Speaker 7: I don't know the timeframe. I should uh, probably a
- 28:46Speaker 7: better question for someone else, But we've had the same one,
- 28:50Speaker 7: I guess since I've been here, So it's.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Not like Mary Kate Nashley Olson. One day there's one
- 28:54Speaker 1: of them playing on full house and then we don't
- 28:56Speaker 1: even know when the other ones that it's one. It
- 28:59Speaker 1: literally is one.
- 29:00Speaker 7: They even told me it's a different one. It's one.
- 29:01Speaker 7: It's at every game.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Uh, Syle, how big is the coach?
- 29:07Speaker 7: I mean that's literally that picture right up.
- 29:09Speaker 3: There on the ball, that's a good sized chicken.
- 29:11Speaker 7: Is me me holding it. That's after the Bowl game
- 29:13Speaker 7: a couple of years ago.
- 29:14Speaker 1: So it's uh, but that's a drawing, coach, you can't
- 29:16Speaker 1: point it a drawing and go that's to scale and literal.
- 29:21Speaker 1: And was like, this is what set up? He points it,
- 29:27Speaker 1: He points it like a fingerpaint. That's a nice it's
- 29:29Speaker 1: a nice art. But he's like, look that's proof.
- 29:33Speaker 5: Real picture.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Okay, Oh that's a that's a big bird. That's a
- 29:38Speaker 1: big bird of that.
- 29:39Speaker 7: That drawing is very much to scale.
- 29:41Speaker 1: But you pointed to the drawing of all things where
- 29:43Speaker 1: you were like, look at this piece of art that
- 29:45Speaker 1: someone interpreted.
- 29:46Speaker 2: That's the size. Okay, let's talk about the program. I
- 29:50Speaker 2: was watching you at SEC Media Days. I think I
- 29:52Speaker 2: watched almost every.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Coach at SEC Media Days. I think you guys arenna
- 29:57Speaker 1: win the East.
- 29:57Speaker 2: I've said that I feel like the voters were not
- 30:01Speaker 2: as respectful of South Carolina as they should have been
- 30:04Speaker 2: your thoughts.
- 30:05Speaker 7: I would not disagree. You know, I know it's coach
- 30:08Speaker 7: speak and it's but it's true.
- 30:09Speaker 6: Though.
- 30:09Speaker 7: We don't pay a whole lot of attention to what
- 30:11Speaker 7: people are saying, whether it's good bad. Just worry about
- 30:15Speaker 7: ourselves and what we can control and try and get better.
- 30:17Speaker 7: But I'll be the first admit it's a little, you know, surprising.
- 30:21Speaker 7: We had two top ten wins to finish the season.
- 30:24Speaker 7: We're returning our starting quarterback and Spencer Rattler. Where was
- 30:27Speaker 7: turning an All Conference receiver in Juice Wells or returning
- 30:31Speaker 7: a freshman All American two freshman All Americans? And the
- 30:34Speaker 7: secondary I got some really good players coming back, our punter,
- 30:36Speaker 7: our kicker, and you know, to not be ranked was
- 30:40Speaker 7: surely a little surprising. I won't lie, But that's okay.
- 30:43Speaker 7: You know, we're worried about what the what the rankings
- 30:46Speaker 7: are at the end of the season, that's all we're
- 30:48Speaker 7: worried about, and let's trying to be the very best
- 30:50Speaker 7: team we can be. But I really like this group.
- 30:52Speaker 1: I'll say that, have you ever not liked a group?
- 30:54Speaker 2: Though you don't have to say which group, but you
- 30:56Speaker 2: know we hear that most I really love this group player,
- 30:58Speaker 2: But has there ever been one of your like, I
- 31:00Speaker 2: don't like this group.
- 31:01Speaker 8: No.
- 31:01Speaker 7: It's kind of like on signing day when you always
- 31:02Speaker 7: hear coaches be like, you know, it's a heck of
- 31:04Speaker 7: a signing class. We just no coaches ever come in
- 31:06Speaker 7: and said and it's a bad signing class. Nobody's ever
- 31:10Speaker 7: done that. I think there's different. I think I've always
- 31:13Speaker 7: liked the groups. I think certain groups are maybe other
- 31:18Speaker 7: teams I've been a part of selfishness. Maybe isn't the word,
- 31:22Speaker 7: but you realize that you're maybe not as close and
- 31:24Speaker 7: as together as you would like to be in a
- 31:26Speaker 7: lot of ways for different reasons. But this is a
- 31:28Speaker 7: group that when I say I like them, I'm going
- 31:31Speaker 7: all the way back to January when we started off
- 31:34Speaker 7: season workouts, when our players came back and for winter
- 31:37Speaker 7: conditioning in January. Since January, all up until now, it's
- 31:40Speaker 7: they've been the same group to steady, hard working, just
- 31:42Speaker 7: kind of flying to the radar, and you know, worry
- 31:45Speaker 7: about ourselves and keep trying to get better.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Is there a personality with each year each class? Does
- 31:51Speaker 1: it always change year to year and what's the personality
- 31:53Speaker 1: of the team this year.
- 31:55Speaker 7: I think it always changes year to year, There's no
- 31:58Speaker 7: question about it. You know, the twenty twenty one group
- 32:00Speaker 7: was our first season here. That group was different than
- 32:02Speaker 7: twenty twenty two, and twenty twenty three is different than
- 32:04Speaker 7: twenty twenty two. You know, this year's team, it's kind
- 32:06Speaker 7: of a unique mix of returning core guys like Spencer
- 32:11Speaker 7: Rattler and the carry on Joiner that have played a
- 32:14Speaker 7: lot of football for us. But then it's a huge
- 32:17Speaker 7: mix of just true freshmen that just got here that
- 32:20Speaker 7: are going to have to play big roles for us.
- 32:22Speaker 7: So it's kind of that mix of older guy that
- 32:25Speaker 7: there's a new found enthusiasm in a lot of ways,
- 32:27Speaker 7: I think because of the new freshman and the youth
- 32:30Speaker 7: that we do have here on the team.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Talk about DK for a second, where he's a COVID
- 32:34Speaker 1: senior and he's played every position. Yeah, I mean, he's
- 32:37Speaker 1: gonna play running back this year predominantless I'm wrong, but
- 32:39Speaker 1: he's played wide receiver, he's played quarterback. Like with a
- 32:42Speaker 1: guy that knows that much. Is he also like the
- 32:44Speaker 1: fourth string quarterback as well as the running back.
- 32:46Speaker 7: He could do it all. There's no question about it.
- 32:48Speaker 7: I mean, what a great person first and foremost great
- 32:51Speaker 7: football player receiver, like you said, running back, quarterback. He
- 32:57Speaker 7: could do it all. Was the MVP of the Bowl
- 32:59Speaker 7: Game two years ago as a quarterback, played receiver all
- 33:02Speaker 7: last year. He's been a really good special teams player
- 33:04Speaker 7: for us. He's one hundred percent of running back right now.
- 33:06Speaker 7: But absolutely if we got in a situation where we
- 33:08Speaker 7: needed him to play quarterback, he knows what to do
- 33:11Speaker 7: and could go in there and do it.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Dang, I wish I could do any of that.
- 33:14Speaker 3: I know me too.
- 33:14Speaker 1: I'm not an athlete anymore.
- 33:16Speaker 5: Coach.
- 33:16Speaker 1: We're both store by the way today because we worked out.
- 33:20Speaker 7: Well. If you're sore after one work there too, you're
- 33:22Speaker 7: not doing it a week.
- 33:23Speaker 1: It was two, coach, and we came back. Okay, all right, Coach,
- 33:27Speaker 1: you were talking about country music a little bit before
- 33:29Speaker 1: the interview, and you know, with artists, people are just like, oh,
- 33:32Speaker 1: they just you know, they record music and they sing
- 33:34Speaker 1: on stage, but there's way more that they do. They
- 33:37Speaker 1: do beating greats they do have to do radio interviews
- 33:39Speaker 1: and stuff like that. What's something a head coach has
- 33:42Speaker 1: to do that most people.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Don't even think about.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Great question like have you cleaned the bathrooms or something like.
- 33:47Speaker 7: Part of the deal, you know, great question. There's so
- 33:51Speaker 7: much because, like I always tell the story, I got
- 33:55Speaker 7: hired here in December twenty twenty and I literally felt
- 33:58Speaker 7: like it was the end of Fbruary twenty twenty one,
- 34:01Speaker 7: like two months later before I did anything football related,
- 34:03Speaker 7: just because there's so much, particularly when you when you're
- 34:06Speaker 7: in the SEC and when you're a college coach, of fundraising,
- 34:12Speaker 7: raising money, whether it be for your game, cup club,
- 34:15Speaker 7: or whether it be NIL or obviously recruiting the speaking
- 34:20Speaker 7: engagements that you know, people ask you to do across
- 34:23Speaker 7: the States. So I love that part of it, But
- 34:24Speaker 7: there is just so much. I don't know one thing.
- 34:27Speaker 7: I mean, there's to me, there's a bunch that stand
- 34:29Speaker 7: out that even growing up the son of a coach,
- 34:32Speaker 7: until I sat in behind that desk and in that chair,
- 34:35Speaker 7: I don't even know if I realize it's the magnitude
- 34:37Speaker 7: of all the things you do outside of outside of coaching.
- 34:40Speaker 2: When I was briefly considering this two years ago running
- 34:44Speaker 2: for the governor of Arkansas is I some people approaching
- 34:46Speaker 2: me and I was like, what do you do when
- 34:47Speaker 2: you run instead of just go shake hands meet people?
- 34:50Speaker 2: They were like, no, you have to be on the
- 34:51Speaker 2: phone nest for money all the time.
- 34:52Speaker 7: Like that's what you do.
- 34:54Speaker 1: People see you on TV or you do, but it's
- 34:57Speaker 1: mostly six hours a day on the phone going I
- 34:59Speaker 1: need money, and I feel like with coaches these days,
- 35:02Speaker 1: it's not direct asking, but I would assume that because
- 35:05Speaker 1: of an IL, because of booster, because of money you
- 35:08Speaker 1: need to build facilities, that it's a constant we'll call
- 35:12Speaker 1: it political game where you need money to keep this
- 35:15Speaker 1: thing going and to keep it thriving. Would it be accurate?
- 35:17Speaker 7: Absolutely? Absolutely. You know, used to you did your local
- 35:23Speaker 7: like your booster club events in the springtime, and I
- 35:26Speaker 7: would do anywhere from or still do anywhere from six
- 35:29Speaker 7: to eleven of those a year where you're going out
- 35:32Speaker 7: and you're speaking to the Gamecock club about the program,
- 35:35Speaker 7: trying to raise money for your booster club on campus,
- 35:40Speaker 7: but now you're also doing fundraising events for in IL
- 35:43Speaker 7: to raise money for name, image and likeness. So during
- 35:46Speaker 7: the springtime, you know, I think I spoke to four
- 35:49Speaker 7: different events in the springtime at night, just going out
- 35:52Speaker 7: and visiting with people as well. So certainly it's about
- 35:55Speaker 7: development relationships. And we got some amazing supporters of Gamecock
- 35:58Speaker 7: Athletics for sure that you know, are eager to support
- 36:02Speaker 7: this program. But yeah, that's a that's a big part
- 36:04Speaker 7: of it, and and you know, like the direction that
- 36:08Speaker 7: we're going. But yes, there's a lot of parts, probably
- 36:10Speaker 7: to go back to your question, fundraising, you know, having
- 36:13Speaker 7: to do a lot of that as well, and the
- 36:14Speaker 7: different events, but you know, it is what it is,
- 36:16Speaker 7: and I enjoy that part of it too.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Do you have just call any your really rich friends
- 36:19Speaker 1: and go, I need money?
- 36:25Speaker 7: I mean, I think you're developing relationships all the time,
- 36:27Speaker 7: and and uh.
- 36:28Speaker 1: That's yeah. I get those calls, by the way, and
- 36:30Speaker 1: I'm not really rich. I'm pretty rich, but I'm not
- 36:32Speaker 1: really rich now. But they'll call me like, hey, X
- 36:34Speaker 1: y Z, can you help out? Yeah, I don't know
- 36:37Speaker 1: who they are, just a mystery, but that happens.
- 36:41Speaker 7: It does. Yeah, there's no question about it. And fortunately
- 36:44Speaker 7: a lot of those people that I'm making those phone
- 36:45Speaker 7: calls too are guys or you know, men and women
- 36:47Speaker 7: that understand the lay of the land and college athletics nowadays,
- 36:52Speaker 7: and they want to see South Carolina Athletics be successful,
- 36:55Speaker 7: and they realize that that's a part of it as well,
- 36:57Speaker 7: whether it be maintaining we're in a beautiful facility right now,
- 37:00Speaker 7: whether it be main the money to continue to move
- 37:02Speaker 7: forward and have amazing facilities like this, or whether it
- 37:05Speaker 7: be in IL or whatever it might be. Certainly, you
- 37:09Speaker 7: know there's some great supporters of Gamecock Athletics, and I've
- 37:13Speaker 7: got a lot of people that are willing to help,
- 37:14Speaker 7: and certainly you know I've made those phone calls and
- 37:16Speaker 7: will continue to as well.
- 37:17Speaker 1: It's got to help that you're not old, that you
- 37:20Speaker 1: kind of are closer to the players, closer to their age,
- 37:23Speaker 1: closer to understanding what And it's probably I would assume
- 37:27Speaker 1: why you and even me, I like in IL. I
- 37:30Speaker 1: think it definitely adds a difficult wrinkle because it adds
- 37:34Speaker 1: more competition in a lot of places. But I like in.
- 37:37Speaker 2: IOL because I believe that if I'm in class and
- 37:40Speaker 2: there's an influencer who's really good at doing yoga and
- 37:43Speaker 2: she can make ten thousand bucks a post, the football
- 37:46Speaker 2: player gets penalized the basketball player and they can't do
- 37:48Speaker 2: it at all. So I'm a big advocate of in IL.
- 37:52Speaker 2: But I think that's because I understand how to and
- 37:55Speaker 2: why there's a need to make money with social media
- 37:57Speaker 2: with ways that maybe weren't able to be done twenty
- 37:59Speaker 2: five thirty years ago.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Do you feel the age gap not as wide with
- 38:04Speaker 1: you and the players as I don't know even some
- 38:07Speaker 1: of your older coaches. Well you have to kind of
- 38:08Speaker 1: talk to them about what's happening.
- 38:09Speaker 7: Yeah, I think so. I agree with you. There's so
- 38:13Speaker 7: much good that has come from ANIL. You hear about
- 38:16Speaker 7: all the horror stories and things like that, but you know,
- 38:18Speaker 7: we got some guys on our team that are doing
- 38:20Speaker 7: amazing things with it, being able to capitalize on their name,
- 38:23Speaker 7: image and likeness. You mentioned to carry on Joinner, to
- 38:25Speaker 7: carry on Joiners one of them. And you know, the
- 38:28Speaker 7: biggest thing for us as we talk about the team,
- 38:30Speaker 7: the team, the team here always and that's the most
- 38:33Speaker 7: important thing. But certainly I'm happy for these guys when
- 38:37Speaker 7: talking about raising money, like I want to do that,
- 38:39Speaker 7: and I told our team this and it's the truth,
- 38:40Speaker 7: Like I want to go be able to raise money
- 38:42Speaker 7: and bring in money to help you. From an nil standpoint,
- 38:45Speaker 7: if you deserve it and you've earned it, I'll jump
- 38:47Speaker 7: on the table and raise money with the best of
- 38:50Speaker 7: them to be able to take care of our guys.
- 38:51Speaker 7: But certainly we're all learning. Whether it's me a younger coach,
- 38:54Speaker 7: or an older coach or somebody younger than me, we're
- 38:58Speaker 7: all learning and going through this thing first time, but
- 39:01Speaker 7: for the first time, but absolutely excited for our players
- 39:04Speaker 7: and love being able to help them in any way
- 39:05Speaker 7: that I can.
- 39:06Speaker 1: If I was a coach, I'd be funding my money
- 39:07Speaker 1: to do my own money do accounts.
- 39:08Speaker 2: I would I would for sure build a shell account.
- 39:11Speaker 2: Once I built a shell account, what well I bid
- 39:16Speaker 2: this whole campaign against myself. Yes, I just started in Nashville.
- 39:21Speaker 2: We just started the national show and I had to
- 39:24Speaker 2: create and I.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Had to look it up on the internet. I built
- 39:26Speaker 1: a shell company to fake where the money was coming from,
- 39:30Speaker 1: so I could buy these billboards to trash myself so
- 39:33Speaker 1: people wouldn't know it was me. So I had to
- 39:36Speaker 1: figure out how to take people away from because they
- 39:39Speaker 1: looked it up. My company chased it, they hired a
- 39:41Speaker 1: private investigatory. Couldn't figure out who was spending the money
- 39:43Speaker 1: to trash me. Little do they know it was me
- 39:45Speaker 1: until it came out, you know, four years later in
- 39:47Speaker 1: the Washington Post. But I think I would do that
- 39:49Speaker 1: as a coach. I would. So my question, are you
- 39:51Speaker 1: doing that.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Between us?
- 39:55Speaker 1: Coach?
- 39:55Speaker 7: Wait?
- 39:55Speaker 1: Wait, this is going on?
- 39:56Speaker 7: They thing is I hardly? I have no If I do,
- 39:59Speaker 7: I don't know about it. Like I have no idea
- 40:01Speaker 7: where my money goes. It all goes to my wife,
- 40:03Speaker 7: and she's in charge of everything financially, So ask her.
- 40:07Speaker 7: But I don't believe.
- 40:08Speaker 1: So I didn't think you did. I just wanted to
- 40:10Speaker 1: lay it out to be done.
- 40:12Speaker 7: I've got to ask her, like can I borrow twenty dollars?
- 40:14Speaker 7: You know, because she's in charge of the money in
- 40:16Speaker 7: the house and has all the cash.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Having kids, is that a different pressure because if you
- 40:22Speaker 1: don't perform well, or you perform wonderfully like your kids
- 40:25Speaker 1: feel both Yeah, both ways. That would be tough as
- 40:28Speaker 1: a dad.
- 40:28Speaker 7: It is. You know, there's a lot of highs and lows.
- 40:32Speaker 7: We lose a game, we as coaches come right back
- 40:36Speaker 7: in this facility the next week and it's right back
- 40:38Speaker 7: to work, and we're kind of in this bunker mentality
- 40:40Speaker 7: and oblivious to the outside world because it's right back
- 40:43Speaker 7: to work. Whereas we lose a game that Monday morning,
- 40:46Speaker 7: they're back in school. And as they get older. My
- 40:49Speaker 7: oldest is a freshman in high school now my youngest
- 40:51Speaker 7: is in fifth grade. Fourth grade. You know, they're hearing
- 40:56Speaker 7: stuff when they go back to school and things like that.
- 40:58Speaker 7: So there's a lot of highs and lows. Like I
- 41:00Speaker 7: tell them, one, it was a good experience for me
- 41:01Speaker 7: because I grew up the son of a coach, so
- 41:03Speaker 7: I saw it firsthand. Like I tell my kids, you know,
- 41:06Speaker 7: it's one this is what I do, but it's not
- 41:10Speaker 7: who I am. So there's a lot of great things
- 41:12Speaker 7: that they get to experience because of my job. But
- 41:15Speaker 7: also the flip side of that for them is there
- 41:17Speaker 7: some negatives that you go through, and frankly they get it,
- 41:21Speaker 7: like we don't win football games, I get fired here
- 41:23Speaker 7: and we have to move and they know that's part
- 41:25Speaker 7: of the reality. But I'm also fortunate that I'm a
- 41:27Speaker 7: part of that. I'm in a job where I can
- 41:30Speaker 7: include my family and the coaches families and a lot
- 41:34Speaker 7: of the things that we do, whether it be coming
- 41:36Speaker 7: to practice, being in the locker room after games, things
- 41:38Speaker 7: like that. But it's certainly a challenge for my wife
- 41:40Speaker 7: and I now that we have now that we have
- 41:42Speaker 7: three children, but especially as these three children get older.
- 41:44Speaker 7: And it's different when you're the you know, tight ends
- 41:47Speaker 7: coach at Oklahoma where I was before. It's a difference
- 41:50Speaker 7: between that and now you're the head football coach in
- 41:53Speaker 7: the SEC and all responsibility is on my shoulders.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Does Darius give you money?
- 41:58Speaker 7: Darius is very supporting FOOTBA program. Darius is very so much.
- 42:01Speaker 7: I don't know specifics. You have to all right, you'd
- 42:03Speaker 7: have to ask Darius. We have a we have a
- 42:05Speaker 7: recording studio.
- 42:06Speaker 3: Coach's wife.
- 42:08Speaker 1: How much money you get?
- 42:09Speaker 7: It's a good question.
- 42:10Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 42:11Speaker 7: Darius is very supportive once to do whatever he can
- 42:13Speaker 7: to help the game. Cocks we uh. I played golf
- 42:15Speaker 7: of Darius three weeks ago and we had a lot
- 42:19Speaker 7: of great conversations about the athletic department and how he
- 42:22Speaker 7: can help and fundraising and n I L and whatever
- 42:25Speaker 7: it might be. He cheat, I know he didn't.
- 42:27Speaker 3: He didn't do a foot wedge coach.
- 42:29Speaker 5: I didn't see it.
- 42:29Speaker 7: No, we were looking.
- 42:30Speaker 2: And you probably wouldn't have said anthing anyway, because I
- 42:33Speaker 2: was Darius, I would.
- 42:35Speaker 7: Have looked him out. We had a great time, Me, Darius, Darius'
- 42:38Speaker 7: son Jack, We had an awesome time. It's really good. Yeah,
- 42:41Speaker 7: there was some pretty good golfers, not talking about me,
- 42:43Speaker 7: there's some pretty good golfers in that group, and we
- 42:45Speaker 7: had a we had a really fun time out there.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Do you have a favorite NFL team?
- 42:50Speaker 7: Not really growing up when I was in Virginia. Uh, well,
- 42:54Speaker 7: first of all, backing up, I grew up in Murray, Kentucky.
- 42:56Speaker 7: My dad was the head coach at Murray State out
- 42:58Speaker 7: there until nineteen eighty six. So that back then, that's
- 43:02Speaker 7: when the old Saint Louis Cardinals football team was alive
- 43:06Speaker 7: and well, so we used to go to old Bush
- 43:07Speaker 7: Stadium Bush Stadium in Saint Louis and go to Cardinals
- 43:10Speaker 7: football and baseball games. Then we moved to Virginia. This
- 43:13Speaker 7: was before the Carolina Panthers and the Redskins were you know,
- 43:16Speaker 7: that's Redskins country up there. Commanders now, so kind of
- 43:20Speaker 7: followed them just because I was close. But no, I'm
- 43:22Speaker 7: at the point now where I really just kind of
- 43:24Speaker 7: follow players that i've coached or been around and coaches
- 43:27Speaker 7: that I know and things like that.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Are you too inside to actually romanticize it anymore? Because
- 43:33Speaker 1: that's how I feel about music, Like I can't really
- 43:36Speaker 1: it's hard for me to be like, I love this
- 43:37Speaker 1: artist because I just kind of see what I can
- 43:39Speaker 1: like their art.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't really look at them as this
- 43:43Speaker 2: big prominent figure of culture. Yeah, they're just like an
- 43:47Speaker 2: idiot who's good at music, just like I'm an idiot
- 43:49Speaker 2: who just kind of funny.
- 43:51Speaker 7: You know.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Do you think you're so inside and that's hard for
- 43:53Speaker 1: you to separate?
- 43:55Speaker 7: Yes and no. I think certain when it comes to
- 43:57Speaker 7: like teams and things like that, because you do. Will
- 44:00Speaker 7: be my twenty fourth year in coaching coming up. So
- 44:03Speaker 7: you've met enough people and you've developed enough relationships with
- 44:06Speaker 7: people where you've got, you know, connections that all these
- 44:08Speaker 7: different teams, players, coaches, whatever it might be. So it
- 44:11Speaker 7: makes it a little bit different. But you know, certainly
- 44:15Speaker 7: there's those players and coaches that are still you know,
- 44:18Speaker 7: oh my gosh, that's so and so and things like
- 44:19Speaker 7: that that even now as a head coach, I still
- 44:22Speaker 7: feel that way about, you know, certain people, the old.
- 44:23Speaker 1: School guys are awesome.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Like to me, that's who I got out the Southwest
- 44:27Speaker 2: Fly once and sat between Barry Switzer. And it doesn't
- 44:31Speaker 2: matter Barry Sweitzer, I said, next to Barry Switzer.
- 44:33Speaker 3: The other guy doesn't matter.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it's something on mine right now. But like to
- 44:38Speaker 1: I was geeking out. That's Barry Switzer. He's from Arkansas.
- 44:41Speaker 2: He coached they Oklahoma thing whatever. But I have a
- 44:44Speaker 2: whole family's from Oklahoma, so yeah, screw them, but the Cowboys.
- 44:48Speaker 1: But it was Barry Switzer.
- 44:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 44:49Speaker 1: And it's even those artists that I listened to as
- 44:52Speaker 1: a kid, they're still super cool to me. It's all
- 44:54Speaker 1: the contemporaries.
- 44:55Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Then I'm just like, you're just a dude.
- 44:57Speaker 7: Yeah, you're just a dude like me. No, there's old school.
- 44:59Speaker 7: You see those guys come around. The old school guys
- 45:00Speaker 7: like Mike Singletary was in my office like a year
- 45:03Speaker 7: and a half ago, and it's I'm sitting there, he's
- 45:05Speaker 7: still big. Just oh my god, I'm scared to death.
- 45:07Speaker 7: He's sitting there staring at me like he's just staring
- 45:09Speaker 7: right through my soul.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Like the old videos coming through the Bear's helmet.
- 45:13Speaker 7: Felt like he's literally we're having a conversation. He's got
- 45:15Speaker 7: those same eyes a little bit. I'm like, oh my god,
- 45:17Speaker 7: is a Mike Singletary. Absolutely, And I know what you
- 45:20Speaker 7: mean about Barry Switzer. Like I went to Oklahoma as
- 45:23Speaker 7: an assistant coach in twenty seventeen or so, it's gonna
- 45:26Speaker 7: be twenty eighteen was my first year at Oklahoma, and
- 45:29Speaker 7: like I grew up like Barry Switzer and then you
- 45:31Speaker 7: go to Oklahoma and I'll never forget like seeing him
- 45:34Speaker 7: a restaurant and going up into him and introducing myself
- 45:36Speaker 7: and I was like, coach Switzer, and I'm like, God,
- 45:39Speaker 7: this is Barry switzerm coach switzerm new tight ends coach
- 45:42Speaker 7: here at Oklahoma, Shane Biemer, it's an order to meet.
- 45:45Speaker 7: She's like, nice to beat you, Steve, And you know what,
- 45:47Speaker 7: I didn't correct him. I'm like, what Barry Switzer wants
- 45:50Speaker 7: to call me?
- 45:51Speaker 1: You call whatever, Steve Bieber coach.
- 45:55Speaker 3: I mean no doubt that during.
- 45:57Speaker 1: A game, the stress levels are so high.
- 45:59Speaker 3: How do you do you compress when you're when you
- 46:01Speaker 3: get home?
- 46:02Speaker 7: Good question? Family. You know, my family keeps me honest,
- 46:07Speaker 7: for sure, and they keep me humble without a doubt
- 46:10Speaker 7: so for me, you know, whether after a game usually
- 46:14Speaker 7: you know, the games we play so many night games,
- 46:17Speaker 7: game INDs, and go in there and do the postgame
- 46:19Speaker 7: press conference with the media, do postgame radio with our
- 46:22Speaker 7: local radio network. Then I tape our you know, weekly
- 46:26Speaker 7: coaches television show. So it's a few hours after a
- 46:29Speaker 7: game before I get home. So if it's if it's
- 46:31Speaker 7: a night game, usually I get home and everybody's already.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Gone to bed, watch TV shows or anything.
- 46:36Speaker 7: When I get home, I'll watch like highlights of games.
- 46:38Speaker 7: When I get home, it's kind of catching up on
- 46:40Speaker 7: the day. Off season, like during the season, I really
- 46:43Speaker 7: won't do much other than just football and recruit out
- 46:48Speaker 7: of season, you know, I'll read a lot, try and
- 46:51Speaker 7: get in the shows if I can, you know, here
- 46:53Speaker 7: and there in the off season, enjoy just you know,
- 46:57Speaker 7: being with the family, playing golf whatnot. So I try.
- 47:00Speaker 7: I feel like I do a pretty good job of
- 47:02Speaker 7: trying to decompress when I have time to.
- 47:04Speaker 1: All, Right, final five questions. Talk about your offensive line.
- 47:07Speaker 2: When really reading in depth about the team this year,
- 47:11Speaker 2: one of the questions that's most asked is house the
- 47:14Speaker 2: defensive line can to perform this year.
- 47:16Speaker 1: What are your thoughts.
- 47:17Speaker 7: I'm really excited about our offensive line. Now. We lost
- 47:21Speaker 7: some serious contributors, guys that are that were starters last season,
- 47:26Speaker 7: so we got to replace three starters on the offensive line.
- 47:29Speaker 7: But the returning guys have been really good. We brought
- 47:33Speaker 7: in a transfer from Yale, Nick guard Julo, It's gonna
- 47:37Speaker 7: really help us. We brought in Jackson Hughes, a transfer
- 47:40Speaker 7: from Charlotte, who I think is going to help us.
- 47:42Speaker 1: Tax guy it I'm not crazy, j x so.
- 47:49Speaker 7: But the thing that I'm really excited about is the
- 47:51Speaker 7: freshman that we brought in. It's hard to play on
- 47:54Speaker 7: the line of scrimmage as a true freshman, but because
- 47:56Speaker 7: of our depth, our guys are going to have to.
- 47:58Speaker 7: But I'm really really excited about the freshman class and
- 48:00Speaker 7: they continue to continue to come along. So they're practicing
- 48:04Speaker 7: with a great edge about themselves right now, great mentality
- 48:08Speaker 7: that they're practicing with. So I'm really excited about the
- 48:10Speaker 7: offensive line.
- 48:11Speaker 1: Coach, I have a nine year old playing football right now,
- 48:13Speaker 1: it's his first year, and I told them how important
- 48:15Speaker 1: it was about the first impression that a coach has
- 48:18Speaker 1: on you. So first day, second day, play hard, that
- 48:21Speaker 1: first impression is important.
- 48:23Speaker 3: Did you ever have.
- 48:24Speaker 1: A first impression that it's like, it's not so good,
- 48:26Speaker 1: but they developed into such a good player that you're like,
- 48:29Speaker 1: you know what, that didn't even matter.
- 48:30Speaker 7: Yeah. I think you have that all the time, honestly,
- 48:34Speaker 7: and I think a lot of times you have to
- 48:36Speaker 7: just I don't want to say chalk it up, but
- 48:38Speaker 7: you realize you're getting eighteen year old young men out
- 48:42Speaker 7: of high school and a lot of them, all of
- 48:45Speaker 7: them are away from home for the very first time.
- 48:49Speaker 7: Maybe it's the first time they've ever been in a
- 48:51Speaker 7: different environment than where they grew up for seventeen years
- 48:55Speaker 7: eighteen years, and it takes time, you know, So that's
- 48:58Speaker 7: probably the biggest thing. There's certainly some freshmen and anywhere
- 49:01Speaker 7: that I've been, whether it be Oklahoma, the origins of
- 49:03Speaker 7: Virginia Tech here, or maybe a freshman comes in and
- 49:06Speaker 7: initially first impression, whether it be that moment or the
- 49:09Speaker 7: first month on campus where you say to yourself, man,
- 49:11Speaker 7: it's gonna be really really hard for this guy to
- 49:13Speaker 7: ever become a player. And then he matures, he grows,
- 49:16Speaker 7: he becomes more and more accountable on and off the field,
- 49:18Speaker 7: and he ends up becoming a really good player. So yeah,
- 49:21Speaker 7: I think that happens probably more oft than you think the.
- 49:23Speaker 2: Nature of the beast and coaching as you move around,
- 49:25Speaker 2: and you've mentioned a few of the spots you've been
- 49:27Speaker 2: were Mississippi State for a while. So if I give
- 49:29Speaker 2: you one of the programs you've been to, just in
- 49:31Speaker 2: a word, because all the cultures are different, even the
- 49:34Speaker 2: towns are different. Just give me a word to describe Norman,
- 49:37Speaker 2: Oklahoma flat.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Just generally the land. We go right to the land.
- 49:42Speaker 1: We're doing like topography, got it? Got it? I like it.
- 49:47Speaker 7: It is like a three twelve longitude.
- 49:49Speaker 1: No, I think you're okay, let me do this. The
- 49:52Speaker 1: University of Oklahoma.
- 49:53Speaker 7: Great people, this tradition, that's what I love about it.
- 49:57Speaker 7: I mean, you you go there. When I got there,
- 50:00Speaker 7: there were I want to say, six Heisman Trophy statues
- 50:04Speaker 7: at the time, and I think forty seven conference championships.
- 50:08Speaker 7: So you drive into work every day, you drive past
- 50:10Speaker 7: these Heisman Trophy statues. You go in the indoor facility
- 50:14Speaker 7: and there's orange Bowl banners and conference championship banners, and
- 50:17Speaker 7: it's like, oh my god, just the tradition at this place.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Miss cow Bell.
- 50:24Speaker 7: Cal Bell. When I think of Startville, Missippi State, one
- 50:27Speaker 7: is my first full time job where I was actually
- 50:29Speaker 7: getting paid. And two it's where I met my wife,
- 50:32Speaker 7: you know, so for me starting there, she's from Startville,
- 50:34Speaker 7: born and raised, so I go to Startville and that's
- 50:38Speaker 7: where we met. She was working in media relations at
- 50:41Speaker 7: the time. And first time I ever saw was a
- 50:43Speaker 7: home game. I was a coach for Mimisoppy State. I
- 50:45Speaker 7: was in the press box and she was working in
- 50:47Speaker 7: the press box for media relations, and like the you
- 50:50Speaker 7: don't want to be like one of those sound cheesy,
- 50:52Speaker 7: like love it first sight moments, but I still remember
- 50:54Speaker 7: it vividly. The elevator doors opened and I got walked
- 50:56Speaker 7: off the elevator and there she was, and it was
- 50:58Speaker 7: just one of those what'd you do? Kind of looked
- 51:02Speaker 7: at her and went to work because we had a game,
- 51:04Speaker 7: but in between series, I was making sure I was
- 51:07Speaker 7: going out to meet a relationship, get something that trans
- 51:10Speaker 7: used the bathroom, grab a popcorn whatever, like, also right back,
- 51:13Speaker 7: just so I could see her throughout the game.
- 51:15Speaker 1: All right, last two questions, coach, what's your favorite football movie?
- 51:18Speaker 7: Favorite football movie? Well, the program's a classes oh, that's
- 51:23Speaker 7: so good. The program was filmed right there in Williams
- 51:26Speaker 7: Price Stadium. Uh, so that's that One's a great one.
- 51:30Speaker 7: And I would probably say I'd probably say remember the Titans. Yeah,
- 51:36Speaker 7: you know, I love sports movies. I was just talking
- 51:38Speaker 7: with one of the players this morning. They're like, what's
- 51:40Speaker 7: your favorite sports movie ever? And I said Hoosiers And
- 51:43Speaker 7: they had never seen Hoosiers and it's like, come on, man.
- 51:46Speaker 1: But also you picked a basketball movie, but like picking
- 51:50Speaker 1: a Korean film, Like, what's your favorite movie? Well, I'm
- 51:52Speaker 1: glad you asked. That's a North Korean special you wouldn't
- 51:55Speaker 1: expect from still a sports movie though, Yeah, and that's
- 51:58Speaker 1: a human movie that North Korean coach in the program though,
- 52:01Speaker 1: Omar apps, they do that full fumble thing where he
- 52:03Speaker 1: takes the ball to class.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Did have you ever done that with your students?
- 52:05Speaker 7: No, but I've heard of people doing it as well.
- 52:07Speaker 7: But we certainly we talk about it all the time. Uh,
- 52:11Speaker 7: in practice. Outside of practice, we have pictures of in
- 52:13Speaker 7: our meeting rooms of you know what, what it's supposed
- 52:17Speaker 7: to look like. I coached at another school previously where
- 52:20Speaker 7: they didn't do that. But if a guy ever fumbled
- 52:23Speaker 7: or had like carried the ball poorly. The next day
- 52:28Speaker 7: there would be the most like terrible pictures that you
- 52:31Speaker 7: could find on the person. Like somebody would go and
- 52:34Speaker 7: find like something from Facebook or Instagram from like seven
- 52:37Speaker 7: years ago, and they would just like plaster the pictures
- 52:40Speaker 7: of that player all over the football building.
- 52:43Speaker 1: You know, was cyberb We like that. That's what school.
- 52:49Speaker 7: It wasn't here, And I'm glad we're.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Our last question coach, because I don't know if I
- 52:52Speaker 1: feel as good about this program as I did before
- 52:54Speaker 1: I got here. I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Okay, final question.
- 52:57Speaker 1: We walked into the film room as I going to go,
- 52:59Speaker 1: and you had a bunch of coaches and you were
- 53:00Speaker 1: watching practice, and I saw how excited everybody got from
- 53:03Speaker 1: one play at practice. Yeah, I mean it was literally
- 53:06Speaker 1: when you kept rewinding it and you're like, look at this,
- 53:09Speaker 1: this is paying off. It's one play of practice. But
- 53:11Speaker 1: I think, to me, that's how important a detail is.
- 53:15Speaker 2: No question from like, can you explain to me what's
- 53:18Speaker 2: happening in that room that we walked from right now
- 53:20Speaker 2: and then what will happen the rest of the day
- 53:21Speaker 2: in there?
- 53:21Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 53:21Speaker 7: No, quesse our great question. So we practice this morning
- 53:24Speaker 7: and then the coaches, players get a little bit of
- 53:27Speaker 7: a break, and then the coaches, they immediately go into
- 53:30Speaker 7: the meeting room and we as coaches, we'll watch offense, defense,
- 53:34Speaker 7: and special teams every play from practice.
- 53:37Speaker 1: Well, you watch it again, so you watch it out there,
- 53:38Speaker 1: then you go and you watch it again.
- 53:39Speaker 7: Watch it live in person. Then we watch it together
- 53:42Speaker 7: as a coaching staff, and then we'll watch it tonight
- 53:45Speaker 7: with the players when they come back over here for
- 53:47Speaker 7: meetings later on. So if you're a coach, you're going
- 53:49Speaker 7: to see it three times at least. But yes, it's details.
- 53:54Speaker 7: But the one thing that was getting a lot of
- 53:56Speaker 7: guys excited about that one particular play. It's to me,
- 54:00Speaker 7: you know, preseason practice where we are right now getting
- 54:02Speaker 7: ready for the first game. It's it's an awesome time
- 54:04Speaker 7: of year because you're not getting ready for an opponent yet,
- 54:06Speaker 7: it's all about yourself and just trying to get better.
- 54:09Speaker 7: So that particular play had a lot of guys excited
- 54:11Speaker 7: because it was a player on our team that you know,
- 54:14Speaker 7: we challenged kind of last night in a team meeting
- 54:16Speaker 7: that when you want to be you can wreck practice
- 54:19Speaker 7: when you want to in a good way because you
- 54:21Speaker 7: can be dominant and take things over. And that particular
- 54:23Speaker 7: play was a guy taking a play over from a
- 54:26Speaker 7: from a defensive standpoint, and it was the offensive coaches,
- 54:29Speaker 7: but it was one of those like wow, like this
- 54:31Speaker 7: guy can be really, really good. And it was pretty
- 54:33Speaker 7: cool to see that young man respond to being you know,
- 54:38Speaker 7: challenged last night to be the kind of player that
- 54:40Speaker 7: we think he can be. And that's what this is
- 54:42Speaker 7: all about, just building guys up.
- 54:43Speaker 1: It's cool to see. We all had our shirts off
- 54:45Speaker 1: in there. It's funny, there's kegs, it's crazy. Then we
- 54:48Speaker 1: came out with.
- 54:48Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, people would people wouldn't believe what happened. Players
- 54:52Speaker 7: on around Greece.
- 54:53Speaker 3: They don't.
- 54:53Speaker 2: It's great coach, big fan of you, a big fan
- 54:56Speaker 2: of the program. And this is my second favorite school.
- 54:58Speaker 2: I mean, well, Oklahom.
- 55:00Speaker 3: I just family, man.
- 55:02Speaker 1: My my our family is like the coach of the
- 55:05Speaker 1: Oklahoma softball team too. She's one like six national championship
- 55:08Speaker 1: so I have to root.
- 55:09Speaker 7: And that's the other thing too, when you talk about
- 55:11Speaker 7: things that stand out to Oklahoma, that's one of them,
- 55:13Speaker 7: Coach Gaso and like being able to go to Oklahoma
- 55:15Speaker 7: when you got you know, coach Gaso who had won
- 55:17Speaker 7: has won so many national championships, and saw seven women's gymnastics,
- 55:21Speaker 7: and you had Bob Stoops you know, living right, you
- 55:24Speaker 7: know down the street. There was always around. So just
- 55:26Speaker 7: the jokesti the athletic director of me. It's just like
- 55:30Speaker 7: men's gymnastics is one A done a national championship. So
- 55:32Speaker 7: just the tradition and all sports and the level of
- 55:34Speaker 7: expectation there was pretty cool as well. So I get it.
- 55:37Speaker 7: If we're your second favorite school, yes, if we're two
- 55:41Speaker 7: and two A, it's it's good. You're too enforced.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Whatever that force number is. Joe C is awesome.
- 55:46Speaker 7: I love Joe.
- 55:47Speaker 1: Yes, Joe's like my dude.
- 55:48Speaker 7: Joe's awesome.
- 55:50Speaker 1: Coach, Thank you very much.
- 55:50Speaker 7: I really appreciate it. Thank you, guys.
- 55:52Speaker 1: Thanks coach.
- 55:54Speaker 2: I did like that at the end, Becau, it's awkward,
- 55:57Speaker 2: all right, all right, thanks to coach Beemer. That's my
- 56:04Speaker 2: favorite dude. Oh yeah, he's awesome. He's my favorite dude.
- 56:07Speaker 5: Man.
- 56:07Speaker 2: I meant to ask him if he has a boat. Yeah,
- 56:10Speaker 2: and you didn't even ask if there was a gator anywhere.

- 56:22Speaker 4: boats gators.
- 56:23Speaker 2: Dude, you're get messed up.
- 56:24Speaker 3: I love animals.

- 57:30Speaker 2: is the guy that I go to. I started following
- 57:32Speaker 2: him and that reached out and was like, you want

- 57:39Speaker 2: best fantasy advice ahead of your draft. Here he is
- 57:42Speaker 2: Farasidiki Froz. What's up, buddy, Hey, Bobby, nice to see you.
- 57:46Speaker 2: Good to see you.
- 57:46Speaker 1: Although I do watch your I even watch your instagrams
- 57:49Speaker 1: in the off season when you're talking about college players
- 57:51Speaker 1: Senior Bowl, like you've you've managed to turn this into
- 57:54Speaker 1: a year round Like I don't know about job, but
- 57:58Speaker 1: a passion that's turned into a job.
- 58:00Speaker 2: Congratulations on that, thanks man.
- 58:02Speaker 11: You know, honestly, the offseason is where it's even more fun,
- 58:06Speaker 11: to be honest with you, because you're kind of like
- 58:08Speaker 11: trying to project these players going to the next level, right,
- 58:11Speaker 11: So the senior Bowl stuff, the college scouting stuff, it's
- 58:14Speaker 11: a lot of fun.
- 58:15Speaker 2: For sure, and I do want to start there as
- 58:16Speaker 2: we get ready for fantasy football, both drafting and even playing.
- 58:20Speaker 2: When you talk about rookies, obviously Vijeon Robinson, you know,
- 58:24Speaker 2: we can go to Detroit and look in their backfield,
- 58:26Speaker 2: both those running back for drafted in the first round.
- 58:28Speaker 2: But who are the rookies because I'm always scared to
- 58:30Speaker 2: draft rookies, But who are the rookies that actually can
- 58:32Speaker 2: make a difference this year?
- 58:34Speaker 11: I mean, if you take a look at the wide
- 58:35Speaker 11: receiver position, you know, unfortunately, if we have an injury
- 58:38Speaker 11: already Jackson spent the JIGBA hurt his wrists, He's going
- 58:41Speaker 11: to have a procedure. He's going to be out potentially
- 58:43Speaker 11: for a couple of weeks to start the year. But
- 58:45Speaker 11: you go further down the line, Zay Flowers for the
- 58:48Speaker 11: Ravens could potentially be Lamar's wide receiver one. Obviously Mark
- 58:51Speaker 11: Andrews is the guy to target there, but Zay Flowers
- 58:55Speaker 11: could make a pretty a pretty good impact even on
- 59:00Speaker 11: in the season. Quentin Johnson somebody to pay attention to, however,
- 59:03Speaker 11: he does have a couple of wide receivers most likely
- 59:06Speaker 11: ahead of him right now, but one of the you know,
- 59:11Speaker 11: one of the really really interesting rookies that I'm looking at.
- 59:15Speaker 11: You know, there's a few rookies later down the line,
- 59:17Speaker 11: like Michael Wilson for Arizona. He's starting right so there
- 59:21Speaker 11: are there are a few wide receivers to pay attention
- 59:23Speaker 11: to outside just the big names Arizona.
- 59:26Speaker 2: They're going to try to tank the whole season.
- 59:28Speaker 1: I just wouldn't want anybody on the Arizona offense if
- 59:32Speaker 1: I did. I'm not saying that he's not gonna score points,
- 59:34Speaker 1: but I mean me personally. Don't you feel like Arizona's
- 59:36Speaker 1: gonna try to lose every freaking game?
- 59:39Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 59:39Speaker 11: Probably, and their defense isn't gonna be good, but they're
- 59:41Speaker 11: gonna have to throw the ball a lot regardless. Now,
- 59:44Speaker 11: you know, I do play a lot of Dynasty Fantasy football,
- 59:47Speaker 11: and you know, I know, I know, the year long
- 59:49Speaker 11: thing is mostly what people do, but for Dynasty, he's
- 59:51Speaker 11: somebody that I'm paying attention to. You know, there are
- 59:54Speaker 11: some talented guys you could potentially get super late in
- 59:56Speaker 11: drafts just to pay attention to because the team, like
- 59:59Speaker 11: the Cardinals, they're gonna be bad. Their defense isn't good,
- 1:00:02Speaker 11: so they're gonna have to throw the ball. Whether it's
- 1:00:04Speaker 11: Klum Murray throwing the ball or not, they're gonna have
- 1:00:06Speaker 11: to throw it. So somebody's gonna have to get those targets.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: A couple of just very broad fantasy questions, what position
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: do you prefer to draft from generally one through twelve
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: in a twelve person league.
- 1:00:18Speaker 11: I like to pick relatively early, maybe top three or four,
- 1:00:23Speaker 11: and then I don't love the middle picks. I like
- 1:00:26Speaker 11: to go somewhere around the eighth spot or so, because
- 1:00:29Speaker 11: when you're around the eighth spot, you can be pretty sure,
- 1:00:32Speaker 11: whether you're in a ten or twelve team league, that
- 1:00:35Speaker 11: in the second round you're gonna get a pretty good
- 1:00:37Speaker 11: stud like I've seen DeVonta Adams fall Around there, you
- 1:00:41Speaker 11: can get guys like Garrett Wilson, potentially around there as well.
- 1:00:45Speaker 11: So if you can kind of have those two top
- 1:00:47Speaker 11: two players, really you know, start off your team with
- 1:00:51Speaker 11: two really really good studs, that's really nice. Now in
- 1:00:54Speaker 11: the top three, you're obviously going to get someone like
- 1:00:56Speaker 11: Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, Christian McCaffrey, somebody who's really really
- 1:01:00Speaker 11: going to hold your team down.
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: I prefer that or somewhere closer to the turn.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: We had our uh that kind of our our draft
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: pick selection. So we haven't done a draft yet. But
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: you get your name drawn and you get to pick
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: what pick that you want. So it's not like we
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: draw name and okay, Eddie, you got the second pick.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: It's like, Eddie, you get to pick second that type thing.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: And so I got the third selection of spots, and Mike,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: would you, Mike, what'd you get?
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: I got one? You got the first selection and you
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: picked what one? You picked one?
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: So I think I went third and I picked nine
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: because of what you said that I would read for me, I.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: Can get a good running back in the first round,
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: and then I can flip around quickly and get another
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: good running back or a wide receiver at that two spot.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: So I also don't want the pressure of Jonathan Taylor
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: and that number one pick like last year, and it's
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: hurt and then all year long you're just screwed because
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: your number one pick went out pretty quick.
- 1:01:58Speaker 11: Bobby, Bobby, I told you, I told you not to
- 1:02:00Speaker 11: take Jonathan Taylor early.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: Listen, listen.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: And John Taylor now this year, what the heck is?
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Where's he gonna end up? Playing Miami Kansas City?
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: What do you think?
- 1:02:08Speaker 11: Who knows? Miami's already made some calls. Apparently apparently they've
- 1:02:11Speaker 11: already contacted the Colts. I don't know what kind of
- 1:02:14Speaker 11: compensation they're going to have to give up here. They
- 1:02:16Speaker 11: want a first round pick back. I mean, that's just
- 1:02:19Speaker 11: kind of crazy, to be honest with you. I don't
- 1:02:20Speaker 11: think they're going to get anything like that, but they
- 1:02:22Speaker 11: are in contact. They wanted to get Dalvin Cook, but
- 1:02:25Speaker 11: now they can get a much younger running back. They're
- 1:02:28Speaker 11: going to have to pay up though, that's the only issue.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: Are you worried this year that Jalen Hurts last year
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: could have been a a I won't say fluke, but
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: that he could have extremely outperformed what he's ever going
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: to do again, because one they kind of know what
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: he does. Now they kind of have an understanding of
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: that ego offense more than they ever have.
- 1:02:47Speaker 11: Yeah, I think so it is in the Rummel possibility.
- 1:02:50Speaker 11: I do think that is, you know, in his range
- 1:02:52Speaker 11: of outcomes for him too. He was very, very efficient
- 1:02:55Speaker 11: last year. This was not a pass first team. Last year,
- 1:02:57Speaker 11: this was mostly focused on the run game. But Aj Brown,
- 1:03:01Speaker 11: DeVante Smith, and Dallas Goddard they helped him out a ton,
- 1:03:05Speaker 11: and now they bringing DeAndre is Swift. I think that
- 1:03:07Speaker 11: is a little bit of a new wrinkle that's a
- 1:03:09Speaker 11: little underrated here in the receiving game. I know that
- 1:03:13Speaker 11: rushing quarterbacks tend to not throw it to the running
- 1:03:16Speaker 11: back position. However, DeAndre Swift is somebody who could who
- 1:03:19Speaker 11: is a receiver, right. He is not a running back
- 1:03:22Speaker 11: that you're just checking it down to. He's going to
- 1:03:24Speaker 11: be running routes and running routes downfield underneath coverage and
- 1:03:27Speaker 11: that sort of thing. So I think that adds a
- 1:03:29Speaker 11: nice wrinkle as long as he can stay healthy. I
- 1:03:32Speaker 11: think because of him, he's a little bit of an
- 1:03:34Speaker 11: X factor here in this offense, kind of continuing and
- 1:03:38Speaker 11: building on what they did last year.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: So where does he rank in your quarterbacks, then.
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: He's number one.
- 1:03:44Speaker 11: He's number one, and the reason why he is number
- 1:03:46Speaker 11: one is because of the fact that he does everything.
- 1:03:49Speaker 11: He is kind of the perfect quarterback for fantasy. Number one.
- 1:03:54Speaker 11: He is a rusher, right, that is the number one.
- 1:03:58Speaker 11: You know, it's basically a guarantee that you're going to
- 1:03:59Speaker 11: be a top five quarterback, right the way that he runs.
- 1:04:02Speaker 11: Number two, he's used at the goal line.
- 1:04:04Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:04:05Speaker 11: He was used so much at the goal line with
- 1:04:07Speaker 11: you know, the little tush push that they almost changed
- 1:04:10Speaker 11: a rule because of it. They did not change the rule,
- 1:04:12Speaker 11: so they're going to continue to do that and allow
- 1:04:14Speaker 11: the offensive line to push Jalen Hurts into the you know,
- 1:04:17Speaker 11: into the goal line on the one yard line. Number three,
- 1:04:20Speaker 11: he's passing the ball a really, really good amount. He
- 1:04:22Speaker 11: could put up the passing yardage on top of the
- 1:04:26Speaker 11: rushing yardage, and he has the weapons, right, so he
- 1:04:28Speaker 11: has everything. When you look at someone like Lamar, you know,
- 1:04:31Speaker 11: potentially this year, I think he's going to pass the
- 1:04:33Speaker 11: ball a lot more. But from what we've seen in
- 1:04:35Speaker 11: the past where he did finish as the overall QB
- 1:04:38Speaker 11: one before, it was really about the rushing. Now, he
- 1:04:41Speaker 11: did lead the lead the league in passing touchdowns, but
- 1:04:43Speaker 11: the passing yardage was not there, so he was missing
- 1:04:46Speaker 11: that little piece there. But Jalen Hurts, there is not
- 1:04:49Speaker 11: one piece of his game for fantasy, at least that
- 1:04:51Speaker 11: he doesn't have.
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: Justin Fields at a really good back end of the
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: season for fantasy, if you know, in the upper mid twenties.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: Part of the year sucked, but he's got a true
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: number one receiver. Now, how do you kind of feel
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: like Justin Fields is going to play fantasy wise?
- 1:05:07Speaker 11: He finished the season as the QB five, so the
- 1:05:11Speaker 11: overall number five quarterback in PPR, and there's no PPR
- 1:05:16Speaker 11: and quarterbacks play, but in points per game Fantasy points
- 1:05:18Speaker 11: per game for Justin Fields, this is across the entire season, okay.
- 1:05:21Speaker 11: And this is without DJ Moore in an extremely run
- 1:05:25Speaker 11: heavy offense. And I think this offense is going to
- 1:05:27Speaker 11: continue to be relatively run heavy.
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: But bringing DJ Moore.
- 1:05:30Speaker 11: In, dart Out Mooney actually healthy for a season, Chase
- 1:05:33Speaker 11: Claypool potentially healthy too. He has Cole Kmet, he has
- 1:05:37Speaker 11: a couple of weapons in the backfield, Khalil Herbert. I
- 1:05:40Speaker 11: think this is going to be a different offense this year,
- 1:05:43Speaker 11: and the fact that he has more weapons that he
- 1:05:45Speaker 11: can utilize. Also, he'll be dropping back a little bit
- 1:05:48Speaker 11: more with the addition of a true number one in
- 1:05:51Speaker 11: Dj Moore. I think he is potentially in line to
- 1:05:55Speaker 11: be the overall QB one when it's all said and
- 1:05:57Speaker 11: done this year.
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: He has that upside. I do have him ranked in
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: my top five this year.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Tony Pollard injured last year at the end of the year.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: But also, you know, not the biggest back, but it's
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: not always about being the biggest back. Now we see
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: that Tony Pollard, do you think he can be that
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: RB one, two or three overall?
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: I do? I do.
- 1:06:15Speaker 11: I think, you know, one of my bold predictions on
- 1:06:18Speaker 11: the show the other day was him finishing as the
- 1:06:20Speaker 11: overall RB one for a fantasy I have n't ranked
- 1:06:23Speaker 11: as my RB three going into the year, and I
- 1:06:25Speaker 11: think it's just a matter of listen, he was the
- 1:06:27Speaker 11: RB seven, he was at RB one last year, right,
- 1:06:30Speaker 11: he was a top twelve running back in fantasy and
- 1:06:32Speaker 11: that was with Zeke Elliott stealing all the goal line carries,
- 1:06:35Speaker 11: stealing you know, a ton of rushing attempts.
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: This is going to be Tony Poller's show.
- 1:06:39Speaker 11: We just had you know, longtime Cowboys scout and you
- 1:06:43Speaker 11: know beat reporter Brian Rhodis on the show yesterday and
- 1:06:47Speaker 11: he basically said that he you know, he's on a
- 1:06:49Speaker 11: one year deal, right, he's on the franchise tag. They
- 1:06:52Speaker 11: have no reason to worry about him about running him
- 1:06:56Speaker 11: into the ground. I think that's what they're going to
- 1:06:58Speaker 11: end up doing this year to get all the touches.
- 1:07:00Speaker 11: They didn't bring anybody back Zeke signed. You know, with
- 1:07:03Speaker 11: New England, there's gonna be another running back taking touches
- 1:07:06Speaker 11: away from Tony Pollard. And because of that, we saw
- 1:07:08Speaker 11: how efficient he was last year even with Zeke there.
- 1:07:12Speaker 11: Now you add the goal line role to what he
- 1:07:15Speaker 11: already had, more routes, run, more rushing attempts. As long
- 1:07:19Speaker 11: as he stays healthy, and obviously that is the question,
- 1:07:21Speaker 11: because he hasn't handled this type of work club before.
- 1:07:24Speaker 11: He can easily finish as the overall RB one this year.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: Speaking of staying healthy, Cooper cup In, you know with
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: the Rams, just an absolute killer two years ago. Last
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: year struggled a bit with his health. Will he ever
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: be that guy again?
- 1:07:42Speaker 5: I hope so? I mean before he got hurt.
- 1:07:44Speaker 11: Last year, he was the number one wide receiver and
- 1:07:47Speaker 11: you know the story wise on a points per game basis,
- 1:07:49Speaker 11: so I do think he can be that guy. Now
- 1:07:52Speaker 11: we have to be a little bit concerned here because
- 1:07:54Speaker 11: of the injury that he had last year, high ankle injury,
- 1:07:57Speaker 11: and then on top of that he had a little
- 1:07:58Speaker 11: bit of a procedure to fix that, and now we're
- 1:08:01Speaker 11: seeing a soft tissue injury.
- 1:08:03Speaker 5: He is over thirty. That's not great.
- 1:08:06Speaker 11: So you know, if you want to be a little
- 1:08:08Speaker 11: safe here, you know, you don't take him over guys
- 1:08:11Speaker 11: like Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase, right, you potentially take
- 1:08:14Speaker 11: someone like Tyreek Hill over him. You potentially take Travis
- 1:08:17Speaker 11: Kelcey over him, Stefan Digs. That's if and the last
- 1:08:20Speaker 11: couple of guys that I mentioned, that's if you really
- 1:08:22Speaker 11: really want to be safe. Right, But the upside is
- 1:08:25Speaker 11: still the overall wide receiver one, the way that Sean
- 1:08:28Speaker 11: McVay schemes Cooper Cup up right, and then on top
- 1:08:33Speaker 11: of that his ability. He still has the ability, right,
- 1:08:36Speaker 11: and it's really a matter of him staying healthy. The
- 1:08:39Speaker 11: other risk here is that does Matthew Stafford stay healthy
- 1:08:42Speaker 11: the entire season. Right, So there's a couple of you know,
- 1:08:45Speaker 11: potential issues here with Cooper Cup. Right, you have to
- 1:08:49Speaker 11: you know, weigh your risk when it comes to picking him.
- 1:08:52Speaker 11: But the fact that there are so many good first
- 1:08:55Speaker 11: round picks this year without as many questions, however, maybe
- 1:09:00Speaker 11: not as much upside as Cooper Cup. There's a decision
- 1:09:02Speaker 11: to be made there.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: If Cooper Cup is available at what pick you must
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: draft him?
- 1:09:06Speaker 6: Like?
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: What where should he bought him out at?
- 1:09:08Speaker 11: I would say, I would say pick seven. Pick seven
- 1:09:10Speaker 11: is really where I'm at. So basically, what does that mean?
- 1:09:13Speaker 11: That means you picked Justin Jefferson, Christian McCaffrey, Jamar Chase,
- 1:09:20Speaker 11: you picked Tyreek Hill, potentially B John Robinson, and Travis Kelcey.
- 1:09:26Speaker 11: I think those are the guys am I missing, Oh,
- 1:09:27Speaker 11: Austin ekwertso, Austin Eckler probably before B John Robinson.
- 1:09:30Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: B John Robinson can.
- 1:09:31Speaker 11: Probably be picked at around pick eight or so. So
- 1:09:34Speaker 11: I think those are the guys that I think once
- 1:09:37Speaker 11: they're off the board, I'm probably taking Cooper Cup.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: Two tight ends I want to talk about quickly. Is
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: Darren Waller with the Giants for the first time. And
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: then also Kyle Pitts, who I mean, he's been alive
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: but not barely for fantasy and a guy that I've
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: had a lot of hopes hopes on. So talk about
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: both of those guys and your expectations for both Waller
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: and Pitts.
- 1:09:58Speaker 11: I think Darren Waller, you know, he showed it in
- 1:10:00Speaker 11: the preseason right, all offseason in training camp, all the
- 1:10:04Speaker 11: Beat reporters have been saying that he is Daniel Jones guy.
- 1:10:07Speaker 11: He is the number one target and no one's even close.
- 1:10:10Speaker 11: We heard that, we heard that, and then we saw
- 1:10:12Speaker 11: preseason action, and in the preseason action it basically confirmed
- 1:10:17Speaker 11: all the priors.
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: Right. He ran a route when every drop back he got.
- 1:10:22Speaker 11: Targeted on forty percent or fifty percent of the routes
- 1:10:26Speaker 11: that he ran by Daniel Jones with the first team.
- 1:10:29Speaker 11: So he's going to be his guy. His only question
- 1:10:31Speaker 11: can he stay healthy? But he does have top two
- 1:10:34Speaker 11: upside at the position. He can finish over Mark Andrews
- 1:10:37Speaker 11: and probably under Travis Kelsey, assuming that Kelsey doesn't lose
- 1:10:40Speaker 11: a step at age thirty four. Right, But darn Waller
- 1:10:43Speaker 11: has that upside. We saw it a couple of years ago.
- 1:10:45Speaker 11: You know, on the Raiders now he is the clear
- 1:10:48Speaker 11: number one target, so he's going to potentially most likely
- 1:10:52Speaker 11: lead the Giants in targets. And we're also seeing and
- 1:10:56Speaker 11: hearing about Daniel Jones taking a step forward here right
- 1:10:59Speaker 11: in the second year with Brian Dable. We've seen this
- 1:11:02Speaker 11: before right in Buffalo. So I'm not saying that these two.
- 1:11:05Speaker 11: You know, he's the same quarterbacks as they have in Buffalo,
- 1:11:10Speaker 11: but at the end of the day, like you got
- 1:11:12Speaker 11: to understand that if he's going to take the next level,
- 1:11:15Speaker 11: and on top of that, you're going to have somebody
- 1:11:16Speaker 11: who could potentially lead the team in targets, you got
- 1:11:18Speaker 11: to target him. So he's a big target of mine. Okay,
- 1:11:22Speaker 11: who's all the time we're talking about cal Fits cal Pits.
- 1:11:26Speaker 11: Calpits is somebody that you should continue to buy into.
- 1:11:28Speaker 11: Right My issue is their head coach Arthur Smith. He
- 1:11:32Speaker 11: does weird things. He drafts talent high, doesn't use them
- 1:11:35Speaker 11: as as well. The route participation needs to be there.
- 1:11:39Speaker 11: What does that mean? He needs to be running a
- 1:11:41Speaker 11: high percentage of routes on every single drop back that
- 1:11:43Speaker 11: desmon Ritter has. Are we going to see that the
- 1:11:46Speaker 11: preseason usage was a little bit iffy, to be honest
- 1:11:48Speaker 11: with you. However, he was an alpha target earner last
- 1:11:53Speaker 11: season despite him not coming through for fantasy and usually
- 1:11:58Speaker 11: this is a bilow situation. He's one of the biggest
- 1:12:00Speaker 11: by lows in like the history of the tight end position.
- 1:12:04Speaker 11: He is somebody that you should buy low on. Don't
- 1:12:06Speaker 11: give up on him. He can easily finish top three
- 1:12:09Speaker 11: this year, maybe higher.
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: Let's do a quick round of what's their ceiling? So
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: give me where you think they compete here. For example,
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: let's go to Jacksonville. Jacksonville as a team's been playing
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: pretty good. That offense was pretty good in getting better
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: last year. It seems like that once they got rid
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: of their coach, you know, things went a lot better
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: once they changed out their entire staff there. So, how
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: do you feel about Trevor Lawrence. What's the ceiling on
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: how he finishes this year in the quarterback rankings?
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: I think his ceiling is a QB four overall.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: Running backs, Austin Eckler RB one overall, Saquon RB four overall. Wow,
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: that's all huh yeah?
- 1:12:55Speaker 11: I think so, you know, I think if you look
- 1:12:57Speaker 11: at Saquan's efficiency last year, it fell off a little bit.
- 1:13:01Speaker 11: You know, I do think he's going to be targeted
- 1:13:03Speaker 11: a ton this year, but the efficiency just might not
- 1:13:05Speaker 11: be there. I think there's a lot of other younger
- 1:13:08Speaker 11: running backs with a good amount of involvement in the
- 1:13:12Speaker 11: passing game, goal line roles, and overall volume that I
- 1:13:18Speaker 11: think that you know, he could potentially not get there
- 1:13:21Speaker 11: where he used to be.
- 1:13:22Speaker 5: Top two, top three.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: Okay, final question here when it comes to the Kansasity offense,
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: Let's take Kelsey out of it, Let's take Lamar or
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Patrick Mahomes out of it. Who else on that offense
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: should be draftable for fantasy?
- 1:13:35Speaker 11: It's tough, man, It's a little bit of a crapshoot. However,
- 1:13:38Speaker 11: I think if I'm going to take a bet on anybody,
- 1:13:39Speaker 11: it's skymore. Sky Moore is the one who has been
- 1:13:42Speaker 11: consistently working with the first team this offseason. Twelve personnel,
- 1:13:47Speaker 11: eleven personnel he has been on the field. You can't
- 1:13:50Speaker 11: bet on Kadarius Tony staying healthy. And regardless of whether
- 1:13:53Speaker 11: he's healthier or not, I think Sky was gonna be
- 1:13:55Speaker 11: very involved. He was a pretty good receiver coming out
- 1:13:57Speaker 11: last year. Obviously, he didn't play in the Power five.
- 1:14:00Speaker 11: You know, there was a little bit of a ramp
- 1:14:01Speaker 11: up period needed, but I think he's a pretty good receiver.
- 1:14:04Speaker 11: I liked him coming out last season, you know, when
- 1:14:06Speaker 11: he came into the NFL, and I like him this year.
- 1:14:09Speaker 11: It looks like he's pretty involved with Patrick Mahomes and
- 1:14:11Speaker 11: the first team and the team has been raving about
- 1:14:14Speaker 11: him a little bit. So I think sky Moore is
- 1:14:16Speaker 11: somebody that you can get in the eleventh or twelfth
- 1:14:19Speaker 11: round of your twelve team drafts this year and potentially
- 1:14:23Speaker 11: be surprised.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: We were talking about upperhand fantasy before you came on.
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: So it's a big time for you. Is it busier
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: now before the draft or during the season.
- 1:14:33Speaker 5: It's extremely busy right now.
- 1:14:35Speaker 11: The month of August is absolutely nuts because everyone's trying
- 1:14:38Speaker 11: to get a little bit of your time. However, during
- 1:14:41Speaker 11: the season, it's it's more of the same thing every week,
- 1:14:45Speaker 11: which gets a little you know, tiresome by November.
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:14:49Speaker 11: So the good thing about the offseason is that we
- 1:14:51Speaker 11: can get creative, right, Like, there's a lot of creativity
- 1:14:53Speaker 11: involved in this, right and you're you know, you have
- 1:14:56Speaker 11: a show, and you know every day every week you
- 1:14:58Speaker 11: try to, like, you know, come up with different ideas
- 1:15:00Speaker 11: and that sort of thing, and that's kind of the
- 1:15:02Speaker 11: beauty and that's what I enjoy. However, during the season, right,
- 1:15:05Speaker 11: it gets to the point where, like, all right, waivers
- 1:15:07Speaker 11: every Monday, Tuesday, right, start since Thursday Friday, you know,
- 1:15:11Speaker 11: trades every week. You know who do I start on Sundays? Right,
- 1:15:14Speaker 11: So it gets a little bit of a you know,
- 1:15:16Speaker 11: it's a little bit of a routine, but you know,
- 1:15:19Speaker 11: it's busy both times, but in different ways.
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: I want to encourage everybody to go to Upperhand Fantasy.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: The reason that I know Fras is because I just
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: literally found his page. It was like, dang, I love
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: this dude. He's my favorite of all the all the
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: talking head they're talking about fantasy. His talking head talks
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: the best. That's right for os. I appreciate it. Everybody,

- 1:15:57Speaker 2: it's just like the best time of year. But I
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: say that whenever March Madness comes to and then I
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: say that, there's like four times when I declare it
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: Asters weekend, yes to.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: Be the best time of the year.
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: It's what really is it's the best time of the year.
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: At least it's the best time of the year. I'm
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: gonna say, you know what my wife actually told me.
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: She said, I'm gonna try to watch more football with
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: you this year. Let's go.
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: I'm like, wow. I think she said that like two
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: years ago too, and she didn't watch a lot. But
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: at least she's trying. She is trying, and she's saying
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: she's trying. That's awesome.
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: Man.
